(00:02):
Welcome to the Adaptive Mindset. I'm Brett Gallant, cybersecurity thoughtleader and founder of Adaptive Office Solutions. Here, we
don't just talk tech, we unlock the strategies, stories, andmindset shifts you need to stay secure, lead boldly, and
thrive in a digital world. Let's get started. WelcomeToday's episode is a reflection of
(00:30):
a couple of common threads I've been talking about in the last week, twoAnd it's centered around taking action. A
lot of times we hold back on takingaction. And the thing
(00:50):
that I really want to share today that takingthe most important transformational step that you can
take. Like look at me, when Istarted my fitness journey, there was
a couple, and I've started multiple times. Iwould start, stop, and not fully commit.
(01:18):
But I fully embracethat if you need, when you want something,
and you know it's important, that the key thing to remember isthat execution is the solution in everything you do. So
for me, it started with a pivotal moment was mycoach's words that he said to me. When
(01:43):
I said to Dave, I said, Dave, I don't havetime to go to the gym. And he said, Brett, you
need to tell me you own your own business and you can't get to the gym.
That transformed me in that moment because that's when I decided that, hey, it's go time. It's time to find a
solution. And what I did immediately was I started to executeand put incredible accountability around
(02:09):
me. But there's other momentswhere we know we need to take action and we
hold back. For example, there might bea business opportunity that you're going after or
a phone call you need to make. And we hold back sometimesbecause there's that fear that we have those
(02:32):
mental barriers that keep us from beingsuccessful or taking a shot. The
biggest thing that holds us back is a lot of times we havefear being in the driver's seat. There's
that, you know, perhaps you're like me, sometimes you avoidit in the past that it needs to be just perfect, or
(02:56):
you need to be comfortable. Now, I've seenmyself grow incredible leaps and bounds the last two
to three years, getting on stages that I've never thought I wouldget on. Staying longer, getting networking
in places where I wasn't comfortable. Butthat's where we need to take that shift. We
(03:19):
got to break through those mental barriers, that mindset shiftthat you have the discipline to go after the
things that are waiting for you. Andfor me, if I hadn't made
some of these tremendous changes inmy life, even like as of today, I've
(03:42):
released 140 pounds, I would not bewhere I'm at had I not made
that decision to execute onWe need to really look at ourselves and say, where am
(04:02):
I letting fear drive? Why amI not executing where I know I should? What
mindsets, what beliefs are holdingme back? And maybe it's a
story that you've been telling yourself or a belief, ormaybe it's some past trauma that you've had that just
(04:27):
Or perhaps you just don't believe yet. Butthat's the time where you have to decide to execute anywhere.
You just have to start. Forexample, I didn't want
(04:49):
I have a gym session this afternoon, but I had this incredible routinewhere I just love getting out for or
a workout. So I replaced my workout todayin the morning to keep that routine by
just doing cardio. I'mglad I put my sneakers on and started the
(05:11):
car and went out in the cold. It was oneof the best gifts I gave to myself this morning because it
brought me clarity and the energy that I need to showup for this day. And oftentimes entrepreneurs,
we don't put ourselves first. Weput everybody else first and the last person that
(05:38):
So we need to remember to put our own maskTake, like a
loved one told me, you just got to peel off the bandaid and go. Sowhatever it is for you, peel off the bandaid. And so I
want to give you a couple of practical tips onSo number one, break
(06:11):
some of these tasks or your fitnessjourney or a phone call or something that you need
to do. Break it into smaller steps. Justkeep it simple, start with the lead domino. Perhaps
you can borrow what I did when I started myown fitness journey. Now I'm doing hour, hour and
(06:38):
a half hikes, but at first I would go for multiple 10 to20 minute walks. Take
that example for even if it's fitness, gofor a 10-minute walk three times a day or start with one. Or
if you know you need to work on callingyour clients or calling prospects, start with
(07:05):
one or two in the morning and one or twoin the afternoon. But most importantly, set
a deadline, measure it, measure yourimprovement and celebrate, celebrate
the quick win. So for example, if you getthe consistently make the four calls a day over
(07:28):
the week, celebrate it and share itwith people, tell them what you're doing. Or if you're going
out for a walk, celebrate it. Celebrate thatmomentum. Because those small quick wins
are going to build the momentum in your belief system. Thebiggest thing that we often forget in life,
(07:52):
and we need to remember this, it's so, so important, isthat consistency compounds. When
you keep showing up and you put those reps in,you put those sneakers on in the morning, you get out, like
what I did, I went for a walk after my children goton the bus, you get out and go for that 10 minute or
(08:18):
You're stacking the wins. You're buildingan identity. Just like me, I've built a new identity for
who I am, who I get to show up, whoI get to inspire, who I get to become every
And thenyou can look back and say, just
(08:41):
a fun little exercise you may want to consider doing islooking Dreaming for a bit and looking at
the potential of who you are a year from now or fiveyears from now and see what that version of you would
And even look at the person who you were three years agofive years ago and what would they say to you. So.
(09:08):
Keeping this episode today short. ButI want you to really reflect that execution
But most importantly, every big change thatyou do starts with a single act. And
the biggest act that you can do is the decision to start, thedecision to keep the promises to yourself and keep going. So
(09:36):
I would love to hear from you. Love to hear youshare what your own small steps on how
you're putting execution first in your lives. Andshare this episode. We've unpacked an awful lot
(09:56):
And I know the version of me twoyears ago, even five years ago, needed
to hear this. Andright now, I'm going to celebrate that I
have at least grown enough that I can shareAnd I just want to say that I'm so
(10:22):
appreciative to be able to lead and do this podcast. We're getting closeto one year in, and it's been a journey
where first I held back on taking actionon doing it. But it's been a journey
that has given me so many blessings and had thewonderful opportunity to meet so many incredible people, incredible guests.
(10:46):
And I'm looking forward to continuing and doing that. So withthat, start with your small
And love to hear fromyou. Have an incredible week, everyone. Take care. Thanks
