Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, thanks Bred.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
What a whale of a game our LMCU game of
the week, and we've got some other dramatic game finish
close to finishing. East Kem with Hudtsville have gone back
and forth all night long. East Kem would just scored
a touchdown with less than thirty seconds to go to
take a forty two to thirty six lead. We'll get
that final twoing as soon as we can. Also in
the Oka Red tonight, Rockford beat Jennison thirty eight to
seven and Grandville fell to grand Haven twenty two to
(00:23):
twenty eight. Big win for the Grand Haven Buccaneers forty
two to twenty eight over the Granville Bulldogs. You want
to welcome you right now to the Meyer High School
Scoreboard Show here tonight on Big one oh one point three.
That's where we are going to be. We've been all
night long because of the changes we had to make
due to the Tigers and the Griffins game tonight, and
we want to welcome you to the Meyer Scoreboard Show.
You know, some people listen to the podcasts to be entertained,
(00:45):
some to learn things on a personal level. Now imagine
a single podcast that's entertaining educational and informative of that
podcast is Docs who Lift to West Michigan Doctors. Doctors
kyl and Spencer Dodolski, former Division one athletes, have created
Docs who Lift out of a passion for fighting health misinformation.
Topics include obesity, hormones, and other health topics with an
emphasis on fitness and nutrition. Checkout Docs who Lift on apples, Spotify,
(01:08):
YouTube and other popular apps. That's Docs Docs who Lift
all right. Some other finals in the Oka White Granmar's
Christian beat Hamilton tonight thirty twenty nine to twenty eight
in overtime. That was a while win there between the
Eagles and the Hawkeyes. And that one our one oh
seven game of the week where they're joining us right now.
Warner Shores beats Forest Hills Northern by count of twenty
(01:28):
seven to fourteen. Big game in the Okay Goal tonight
between Zealand and West and Forest of Central.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Our Remy Monahan was there.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Reporting from Rangers Stadium at Forest Hill Central High School.
This is service Professor game reporter Remy Monahan with a
Mayor High School scoreboard. Show summary. This report is presented
by a service professor Heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical. They'll
fix it in a snap. Zeeland West runs away with
a thirty eight to twenty four win over Forest Hill
Central as the rain came down tonight in Grand Rapids.
(01:55):
The Rangers got on the board first with a short
field goal and then scored early in the second quarter,
but the Ducks were unstoppable on both sides of the
ball tonight. Their secondary pulled down three interceptions in this game,
two from junior Brandon Holman. All three were taken back
to the other end for a score. Like we usually
see with the Ducks offense, they went for two after
(02:15):
every touchdown and racked up those points after those scores.
Zeland running back Jonah Leslie led the way with three touchdowns,
while Braindon Holman and Kay Schier both found the end
zone as well. After longtime Zeland West head coach John
Chilaiteau retired at the end of last season, and with
them coming off a state championship win, I think there
were some questions about if we were going to see
the same intensity from this Ducks program, and we definitely
(02:37):
have seen that this season. It was a tough, low
scoring loss last week to Unity Christian, but I think
that they have got themselves in a good spot for
when the playoffs do roll around in a couple of weeks.
Forrest Hills Central scored twice in the second half, but
not enough to get the lead back after their first
drive of the game. Moving into our Healthcare Associates play
and Player of the game, My play goes out to
(02:59):
that first interception from Zealand West that started a chain
reaction for them on defense, and my player of the
game has got to be Jonah Leslie. Fourteen carries for
eighty nine yards and three touchdowns. The Ducks offense had
a total of thirty eight carries for three hundred and
twenty two total yards. The Ducks are now five and three,
three and one of the Oka Gold while Forest Hills
Central drops to two and five, one and three in
(03:20):
the conference. West comes Inland again next week to take
on Wyoming, while Forest Hill Central travels to the Lake
Shore to take on Zealand East. This report was presented
by Service Professor. They'll fix it in a snap once again.
Final score thirty eight to twenty four Zealand West with
the win. Reporting from Rangers Stadium. This is Service Professor,
Game reporter from me Monahan.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Thank you remy. We heard in our game of the
week that ken Oa Hills beat Coopersville in a while
when thirty four to thirty one in the River City's Alliance.
Another big win in the River City Allions for Cedar
springs at home. Then I fifty one thirteen when he
post Guskopolka will join us live on the line. Just
a minute, take a time out, come back with more.
We're just getting started. The Myer Scoreboard show here on
Big one O one point three and one seven mus
(04:00):
the Moose.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Back on the.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Meers Scoreboard show. Rick Berkie in the saddle on Big
one to one point three. Glad you could join us tonight.
Our programming moved the Big one one all point three
all night long because of the Tigers and the Griffins
game tonight. Speaking of the Tigers, here's a score you're
gonna love if you don't already know.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
The Tigers.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Kerry Carpenter just hit a two run homer in the
top of the sixth and the Tigers now lead Seattle
two to one in the top of the sixth. Thenning
in Seattle again two to one Tigers in the top
of the sixth. Big win for Cedar Springs tonight in
the ok or Okay River City's Alliance Division. Tonight they
beat Sparta fifty one to thirteen. When he coached, Gus
(04:44):
Copolka joined us on the liveline. Right now, coach nice
winner home was it homecoming tonight?
Speaker 4 (04:49):
It was homecoming and it was against our traditional rival Sparta.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
All right, let's say we didn't chance to know an
eym got the game other than the final score. Coach,
tell us about who played well for you, because I'm
sure you got an idea. Your defense must have played
pretty well. Hold spart at thirteen.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Yeah, so we had four interceptions in the first half.
We had I think one other turnover in the second
half on a funnel recovery, but Luke Eagan got us
on the board. Sparting had a nice long drive to
start the game and Luke Eagan returning interception one hundred
yards for a touchdown to get us on the board.
And that's that's his third defensive score of the season.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Coaches, talk about your season. You started out with three
big wins, didn't drop when we've come back with three more,
So you've got to feel good about the momentum going
towards the end.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Of the season.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
Yeah, I mean we've played extremely well. Our offense I
think has averaged forty five points a game right now.
Our defense has held tough against some really good teams.
The win at lowl was obviously very big. Had a
disappointing outcome earlier in the season against Kennel Hills. But
the way things are potentially shaping up and Division three,
(06:00):
we might we might getting rematches with both those teams.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
So, coach, your second year in the River City's Alliance,
what are your thoughts so far? I know that you
were happy with it. I talked to you after year one.
What's your thoughts now the second year of separating from
the Okay Conference.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
I mean it's been great. You know, we, like I said,
this is our traditional rival. They are ten miles away,
They're a similar size school. You know, we have played
them since the nineteen twenties, and then we have a
seven year period of time where we don't play each
other because we realign Okay divisions every four years. You know,
(06:37):
we have giant crowd to night ASPARTA brings a lot
of people. We have homecoming. It's an electric atmosphere and
quite honestly, it's like that every week because there's that familiarity,
there's that closeness, there's a lot of traditional rivals, and
it's just all arounds it's been. It's been so good,
from from top to bottom, it's been. Uh, you couldn't
ask for anything more in this in this switch to
(06:58):
the River Cities coach, you.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Go to Allendale next week, your next matchup. I know
they're not having the kind of season we've seen in
a lot of years with Allen Dale, but it's always
a tough one when you go to their place.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
It is and I remember playing over there in a
crossover game back I think it was in twenty eighteen
or twenty nineteen. They had owned Burt and those were
those were extremely tight games in Allendale. I know in
tonight they gave up some points to goal, but Allen
Dale's defense and a very good all year offensively, They've
had some struggles scoring points, but they they have some
(07:33):
physical kids, they have some good size and they and
they get after it on defense with a lot of pressure.
So it's it's you know, we've got to be we've
got to be on point, and we've got to continue
to stack up, you know, good days on top one
on top of the other and go out next Friday
night trying to get a w.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Coach.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Who's surprised you on this year's team. Usually there's one player,
maybe two occasionally that you say, well, you know, I
know accounting on them to do something this year, but
they go way above and beyond who you know that
what you expected going into the season.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Oh, man, we've had We've had so many guys. We
we've known him for a mild that that these two groups,
the junior and senior groups, that they were going to
be really good and they had not really ever played
together before because we'd had a really small senior group
a couple of years back, where a lot of these
guys have been on the varsity for three or four years.
But uh, I'll be honest with the Ky Lawson the
(08:27):
plays tight end and defensive ends for us. He was
a sophomore last year, kind of got thrown to the
wolves quite a bit. Is a tight end and really struggled,
but had a great offseason. He is right now for
what we do in the power to the offense. He
is he's in my my opinion, he's an all state
tight end, catches the ball extremely well, he's a leading
receiver on the season. Great at the point of attack,
(08:50):
he's he's great at the second level.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
He is really driving our offense right now.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Coach Gus Kakolka of Cedar Springs, thanks for joining us.
Congrats on the big win fifty one thirteen over Sparta.
You're six and one on the year, three and one
in conference play. Best of luck. We'll catch up with
you on the road, Gus.
Speaker 7 (09:06):
All right, thanks, Rick, all right.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Take care, all right, let's get another final. Came in
and wild one in overtime. West Ottawa beats Caledonia tonight
thirty three to thirty. That sounds wild, and I'm sure
it was. But you want to know wild, We're gonna
tell you about wild. East Countin and Hudsonville played one
of the most memorable games of the season tonight at Hudsonville.
And without telling you how that last thing finished up,
(09:30):
We're gonna go live right now to our own Dan Hasty,
he's at Hudsonville High School, actually the middle school where
they play their home games. Hudsonville and eastken Wood played
a barnburner, and that doesn't really do a justice to it,
does it.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Dan Rick.
Speaker 7 (09:43):
I think that was the best high school football game
I've ever been a part of. Reporting from Hudsonville High School.
This is Service Professor's game, reporter Dan Hasty, Here's what
happened here as we look through it. Thanks to our
friends at Service Professor Eating, Cooling, plumbing, and electrical, they'll
fix it in a snap where we left you. It
was twenty seven to twenty one in favor of the
(10:04):
East Pettwood Falcons and ended up going into the third quarter.
Brady van Lake saved his best football for when his
team was down throughout the night. He ended up hooking
up with Ryan van Ason with a twenty nine yard
touchdown cash on fourth down and four. Then they botched
the snap on the pat and they throw it up
(10:25):
and it comes down with a catch that would become
a theme. A little bit later on. They made the
two point conversion into the fourth East Petwood response. Cade Kaufman,
the future of Michigan State Spartan hooks up with Owen
Vanderdeen twenty two yard passing touchdown, They go for two.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
They get it.
Speaker 7 (10:42):
Thirty five twenty nine East Hetlood, five minutes to go.
Speaker 6 (10:46):
In the game.
Speaker 7 (10:47):
Hudsonville scores Owen Harzma three yard touchdown run. They make
the pat thirty six thirty five Hudsonville back and forth
we go. Thirty one seconds left. Cad Kaff with a
tush push for a touchdown.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
His sixth touchdown.
Speaker 7 (11:05):
Of the night, three in the air, three on the ground,
and with only twenty five seconds to find the way
to get the ball in striking distance. You gotta hand
it to the Hudsonville Eagles. They ran out routes all
the way down the field to put themselves with two
seconds left at the East Kentwood twenty five yard line,
(11:25):
with only one play left, Brady van Lake throws up
a prayer and Andrew Meerman, the senior wide receiver, off
of a tip pass, comes down answering said prayer. Twenty
five yard passing touchdown ties the game at forty two.
The place was electric. Every player from Hudsonville stormed the field.
(11:49):
But that's a problem because the game was not over.
It was forty two, forty two out come the flag
fifteen yard celebration penalty on Hudsonville moved the pat back
fifteen yards. Now you're talking about a long pat, basically
longer than a lot of the field goals that Hudsonville
(12:10):
has kicked this year. Then an offsides penalty on East
kentwood a crippler to move it up just a little
bit more, and John Tillotson, the soccer star and the
kicker for the Hudsonville Eagles, pounds it through with triple
zeros on the clock, and that's how this one goes final.
(12:30):
Tonight forty three, forty two, the Hudsonville Eagles eat their
perfect season alive. Just an incredible ballgame tonight here at
Eagles Stadium.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Rig fantastic boy. I was following on video online there
and it was just it was just back and forth.
And when East Kent would finally went ahead with it,
was it thirty two seconds to go. I think, well,
this is going to be a memorable finish for them,
and it turned out to be memorable for Hudsonville even
more so. On the hill, Mary pass, I've got to
ask you, Dan, you said it was deflected in the
(13:01):
air and it was caught by Andrew Meherman.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Is that correct?
Speaker 7 (13:06):
Andrew Meherman, the senior wide receiver. First time we had
really heard his name said all night. But how about
it a senior pulling down that pass and a moment
that will be etched in time as far as Hudsonville
High School football is concerned.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
And then John Tillotson boots the extra long pat and
gives him the win. Great job on it, Dan, Great
having you with us again this year and a fantastic job.
We look forward to working with you again down the road.
Speaker 7 (13:33):
Buddy, Absolutely, Thanks Rick.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
What an incredible win is Hudsonville wins it forty three
forty two. Imagine that how that could have changed differently
because after the hail Mary touchdown that tied the game,
I was watching it on the video online and saw
the entire Hudsonville bench run out on the field to celebrate.
And as Dan said, that's a penalty and they only
(13:59):
got one fifteen yard for it, but that could have
been costly. It could have cost him the pad that
would have won the game. As it was, they ended
up getting five yards closer than they booted it through
and they win it by account of forty three to
forty two. Hey, football fans this fall, catch the games

Speaker 9 (17:45):
Alliance, you heard it right here on one O one three,
Kenawa Hills defeats Coopersville thirty four to thirty one. Cedar
Springs defeated Sparta fifty one to thirteen. And also on
Wednesday night, we had an eight man score where Martin
gets it done over Grand Rapids Sacred Heart forty eight
(18:05):
to twenty six, and in Major League Baseball, we go to.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
The bottom of the six. You can hear it live

with Luddington head coach Charlie Gunsell rares. The Meyers scoreboard
show continues on Big one on one, three and one

Speaker 5 (18:32):
M Us the Moose.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
We got a call during the last break, so he
ran down all those scores, but we didn't get any
caller from Montague, so we didn't give the West Michigan
Conference games.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
I apologize.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
We'll get right at that right now from we do
have some finals from the West Michigan Conference. Shelby over
Man of Steve forty eight to twenty. Montague beat Fremont
thirty five. Other thing, so our caller is happy. North
Muskegan beats Ravenna thirty six to twenty nine, and a
big one right now as Luddington's having a historic season
and Luddington defeats Whitehall thirty two to seven. We're gonna
(19:12):
go right now on the live line to Luddington coach
Charlie Gunsel, who joined.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Us right now.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Coach, So, I said, it's a historic season for Luddington
right now. How do you describe what's going on with
your squad right now? Perfect season and it got even
better tonight.
Speaker 10 (19:26):
Yeah. I just think we're showing a lot of maturity.
You know, we're just kind of plugging away one game
at a time, and certainly Whitehall was a big challenge.
They were by far the most physical team we played
all year, and I was just proud of our kids
kind of staying the course, handling all the homecoming activities
and doing what we needed to do to win the
game tonight. But hats off to Whitehall, tremendously well coached. Still,
(19:49):
you know, people can say what they want to say.
There are still dudes at white Hall that can play
the game. So I was really proud of my kids. Charlie.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Obviously your guys handled it tonight. But I know some
coaches kind of hold their breath when you get to
homecoming because all the distractions. What's your thought on that
as far as how it pertains to the game that week.
Speaker 10 (20:07):
Well, just we just stress that, you know, and I
don't want this to come across the wrong way, but
the homecomings about the football game, and we just kind
of take all the other circumstances out of it. And
our kids worked hard all week and they were focused
on what we needed to do. Because if you're not
focused against Whitehall, they will flat beat you up. They're
that physical. So I was just really proud of how
(20:28):
our kids handled the whole week.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
As we said, you're having a historic season. It's been
how long since you guys are seven? And oh, it's
been a while. I know, I don't but it has
been a while.
Speaker 10 (20:38):
Right, yeah, probably since the late eighties. But you know,
we've got a good group of kids. You know, I've
got a really strong senior class, and you know, we've
got two kids that are going to play on Saturdays
next year, and you know, they're combined with some other
kids that work really, really hard, and you know, there
are signs when you go into a season that you're
(20:59):
going to be able to compete. And you know, our
weight room numbers are through the roof, our participation numbers
in the offseason are through the roof and as a result,
you know, we're sitting here at seven and zero with
a chance to go to Orchard View and win this
thing outright.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Our Scott de Camp will have a full report on
this game a little bit later on in the Meyer
Scoreboard show, Coach, you mentioned two players are going to
play on Saturdays. Tell us who they are and where
they're going to be playing.
Speaker 10 (21:22):
Well, Walt Autrey is verbally committed to Hillsdale. I think
he's a big time right tackle for us. And then
our quarterback Cam Gunsel has verbally committed to Fairs State.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Well, I tell you what, that brings a lot of
pride to you. I know we'll get in a chance
to see your players go on to the next level.
I know that's special for you.
Speaker 10 (21:43):
Well, and I'm telling you you know, those two guys
have earned it. They've worked their tailoff. But what's not
talked about is the younger kids we have that I
think are going to play in college that are really
contributing to this football team. And you talk about Messiah Hymes,
you talk about Blake Nelson, you talk about Mikey Hymes.
We've got of multiple young kids that I think are
going to be able to continue to play football. So
(22:06):
it's just a really good mix that we have right now.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Well, you've got orchard View next week, Charlie, I didn't
get their final tonight. They had one three in a
row though prior to this evening.
Speaker 10 (22:16):
Rchard View is probably the most improved team in the league.
I know that coach James is a tremendous football coach,
and you know, everything I read is with the young
man they have at quarterback. Now, you know, I'm sure
Peyton Babbott's going to be back next week. They're gonna
be an incredible test. I mean, because we're not gonna
see speed, or we have not seen speed like we're
gonna see next weekend. So I think when you play
(22:38):
a team like orchard View, if you make a mistake,
you know where maybe against other teams you tackle them
for a thirty yard game, against orchard View, it's going
to be a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Lettington coach Charlie Gunzel, thanks so much for joining us.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Best of luck to.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
You down the road. I know you're having a great season.
Enjoy the ride, coach. You don't get too many seasons
like this.
Speaker 10 (22:56):
I'm gonna tell you, I'm having an absolute blast and
I love my guys. We're going to enjoy this.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Thanks Coach, Thank you, Charlie gunsl Lononton. Yeah, they are
enjoying the ride. Another big win tonight, folks, they haven't
been pushed. I think their win tonight thirty two to seven.
That's twenty five point difference. That is the closest anyone's
come to them this year. Think about that. Twenty five
points is the closest differential. That's the kind of year
they're having in Lonington. As we said, our Scott de

Speaker 11 (28:55):
Reporting from Zealand Stadium. This is Service Professor Game Reporter
Lucas Symbol, Meyer High School Scoreboard Show Submarine. This report
is presented by Service Professor Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical.
They'll fix it in a snap. Here tonight it was
Seuth Christian getting a crucial win to help their potential
playoff hopes, as the Sailor's knocked off zelan Eese forty
(29:15):
one to twelve. South Christian controlled the game for much
of the night, as sophomore quarterback Brody schilt scored on
runs in one to nine yards in the first quarter
to move the Sailors out to an early fourteen to
nothing lead, but Zelanis showed some perhaps surprising signs of
life in the second quarter as junior quarterback Will Drennick
escaped heavy pressure to find his wide receiver Isaiah Boonstra
for a seventeen yard scoring strike and then did it
(29:38):
on his own with a crafty twenty two yard touchdown
run to move the Chicks back to within fourteen to twelve,
but just under four minutes left in the first half.
South Christian was able to score a backbreaking touchdown in
the final minute of the first half, though, as Shiltz
engineered at seven play seventy two yard drive in just
under three minutes, with the final play being Our Healthcare
Associates Play of the game as he found his six
(29:58):
foot four to two hundred five pounds free shman tight
end Dax Blackport for a thirty three yard touchdown pass
on a well executed post route to make it twenty
one to twelve Sailors at the half. It was all
South Christian in the second half, as Jesse Vandergrind scored
on his thirty one yard touchdown run, Isaac oster Haven
raced in from thirty five yards out, and Shildtz broke
free on a fourth and one play from the Sailors
(30:19):
thirty one for a sixty sixty nine yard touchdown sprint
to put the finishing touches on an impressive South Christian victory.
Vander Grind had seven carries for eighty five yards and
a touchdown for South Christian. Joennick completed fifteen of twenty
two passes for two hundred and fifty seven yards and
one touchdown for Zelanese while also rushing for a score.
Kobe Miller hauled in three receptions for one hundred and
(30:41):
thirty six yards for the Chicks. South Christian is now
four and three, three and one in the OK Gold
and will host Unity Christian in a huge matchup next
Friday that will go a long way in determining the
OK Gold champion. Zelanese falls to four and three as
well with the lost one and three in the Gold
and will host Forrest Hill Central next week in what
is essentially they must win it they want to hopefully
(31:01):
make the playoffs. This report was presented by Service Professor.
They'll fix it in a snap once again. Our final
here tonight from Zealand Stadium was South Christian forty one,
Zealand East twelve, and our Healthcare Associate's player of the
game was South Christian sophomore quarterback Brody Schiltz, who, in
only his third game as a varsity quarterback, carried the
ball sixteen times for one hundred and sixty five yards
(31:23):
in three touchdowns and also completed all five of his
passing attempts for eighty seven yards in another score. Reporting
from Zealand Stadium, this is Service Professor Game reporter lucas Sembol.
Speaker 12 (31:39):
We're reporting from Thornapple Kellogg High School. This is Service
Professor Game reporter Mike Lee with a Mayer High School scoreboard.
Show summary. This report presented by Service Professor Hating Cooling,
Plumbing and Electrical. They'll fix it in a snap here tonight.
The final was East Grand Rapids thirty for Thornapple Kellogg's
(32:01):
seven EGR struck for three tds and a field goal
in the first half, building a twenty four to nothing
halftime lead. Pioneer touchdowns in the first half came from
Dylan buck on the receiving end of a twenty three
yard TD pass from Josh mccun a mcun QB keeper
from six yards out, and a Tyler Blake seven yard
(32:24):
TD run. The second half started out with some promise
for TK, as Debo Robinson ranted in from thirty yards
out to cut the Pioneer lead to twenty four to seven.
Early third quarter, EGR punted on their next possession, putting
TK in a hole starting at their own three yard line,
(32:45):
but a steady drive took the Trojans down to the
EGR twelve, and then it was our Healthcare Associates play
of the game, egr's Tyler Blake picking up a Trojan
fumble and running it back ninety e yards to make
the score EGR thirty one, TK seven, killing any Trojan
(33:06):
comeback hopes. The revised records East Grand Rapids five and two,
thorn Apple Kellogg four and three. Next week, EGR hosts
Ottawa Hills, thorn Apple Kellogg hosts Holland Christian. This report
was presented by Service Professor. They'll fix it in a
(33:26):
snap once again. Our final here from thorn Apple Kellogg
High School was East Grand Rapids thirty four thorn Apple
Kellogg seven, and our healthcare associate's player of the game
was Tyler Blake of EGR, who scored a rushing TD
and returned that ninety yard fumble for another pioneer TD.
(33:50):
Reporting from thorn Apple Kellogg High School, this is Service Professor,
game reporter Mike Lee.

Well.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Normally at this point.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Of the show we tell you about our service Professor
electrifying play of the night, and normally by then our
scoreboard show staffs made a snap decision in coming up
with it, and sometimes it's tougher than other. This tonight
it was impossible for Holland Christian had Isaiah Myard with
an eighty yard rushing touchdown eighty East Grand Rapids Tyler Blakoeld.
(35:06):
You heard, just heard Mike tell us about a ninety
yard fumble return for a touchdown South Christians Brody Shilts,
quarterback on sixty nine yard rushing touchdown.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Of course, the game we talked about.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Quite a bit, Hudsonville scores a touchdown when the clocks
hit zero on a Hail Mary pass that Andrew mcmeierman
caught in the end zone to tie the score, and
then Pat John Tillotson kicked the pat to give Hudsonville
a thrilling forty three forty two win in that game.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
So that seems to trump everything.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
But wait a minute, not just yet, my friends, Godwin
Heights gets a last second field goal.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
To defeat I lost it here.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
They beat Fruitport Tonight thirty one to thirty on a
last second field goal, and Godwin coach Brandon Kimball joins
us on the live line right now.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Coach, unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (36:05):
How you doing good?
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Good talking with you again, coach, unbelievable. What a finish
Tell us about it? Take us down those final seconds
and what went on to get to the lead to
that big kick by Gstavo.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
Yeah, yeah, man, I'm sorry, man, lost my voice there.
Speaker 6 (36:19):
Crazy ended. We got in a situation, man. We played
almost as worse as we could the first half. We
had some turnovers, dropped the ball, we had a crazy
they stumbled on a kickoff and our kids just he
ran to touchdown random wrong way, crazy thing.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
You got to see it on film.
Speaker 6 (36:34):
But we're down twenty four to fourteen a half. We
believe that we were right in the game. We come
out second half to fight. We finished on. We get
a big time stop to get the ball back and
we're down two points with a minute and sand left.
Our quarterback that's been great for us this whole year.
Martellus forest Man really let it down. He leaves us
on a one minute drive all the way down the field.
(36:56):
Two techdowns on round one end Kreise Harris had two
and our other run at back rand it scored a touchdown.
So that's what got us back in the game. And
our kicker he just got ice in his veins. Man,
we six seconds left. You have that debate do you
take another shot at the end zone? But real life,
forget it man, He's a soccer kid. He loves the pressure.
He's a theater, and we put it all on his
(37:17):
back and just ast him as it will be great act
the old line, the stand up strong, give us opportunity
to give us time and goose step right. Then nailed
the thirty yard to win the game. And a crazy
fashion for us to rent on the road to still
stay undefeated in the conference. So it's good for us
to be able to pull out the thirty one thirty wins.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Ranted.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
How many field goals has Gustavo catched prior.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
To the night.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
He's mad He's only missed one extra point and actually
this block and this is his third field goal on
the on the seed. That just natural field gos. Wow.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
So obviously again people remember that, but as coaches especially
remember what it took to get down there. I'm sure
you had a couple of big plays on that last drive.
You mentioned your quarterback, your young quarterback, just a sophomore.
He made a lot of big plays for you. But
some other guys step up in that final minute for you.
Speaker 6 (38:05):
Yeah. Man, it was an amazing catching. Aiden Jackson makes
an amazing catch on third down to get us the
first takesoff in games twenty five yards and gets out
of us. Is great smarts by him as a chead
and know that situation. And then on fourth down, Preze
Harris again, who had the two receiver sets downs. He
really set us up to have the field go. He
makes an amazing adjustment on the back shoulder. You know
(38:27):
you rep that in practice a lot, but it's big
time when you get in the game throwing that back shoulder.
He goes and makes the play. So I'm very proud
of him in his senior year to set us up
for the field goal to win the game.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Well, you stay perfect in league play. Coach at four
and zero in conference action five and one overall and Belding.
Of course they had a non conference win tonight. They
are four and oh and six and one overall. Coach, again,
you're thinking right now totally about the league, possible of
the league championship, and but the playoffs certainly have to
(38:59):
be in too, because you got to start thinking about that.
What's your How are you emphasizing your focus right now
just strictly on the league or are you thinking right,
let's think about postseason also.
Speaker 6 (39:09):
Man, We're doing a little bit of both. But most
of the postseason is within the coaches. You know, we're
looking at what that looks like, who we could play,
you know, looking up able to exchange some films. From
the coach side, we're keeping that all out of our
players' mind and telling them playoffs will handle theirselves when
we get there. Because we're a school, we haven't won
the conference championship in football in a long time, and
we want to do that. Our basketball team and soccer
(39:29):
team has been holding it down for us as a
school for a long time, and as football we want
to be a part of that. So I've been teaching
our teams. This was a little trap game for us
because we got the Rockets down the road next week,
and I think our boys were overlooking it. We had
a great shooting section at volleyball last night, so we're like,
we got to stay focused. We really want that. Okay,
civil championship. That not saying we're gonna get it. We
got a tough matchup against our rivals that's always a
(39:52):
hard fought one next week, and then you got the
three times defending conference championship. It's crazy how it's setting
up for us to finish Week nine on the road
at Building and that'll be a tough battle. So really
telling them playoffs will handle itself if you can handle
the conference. We're trying to say focused.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
Govern coach Brandon Kimball again. They play Kelloggsville next week,
their neighborhood rival, and those teams always battle when they
was to play each other because these kids to go
to church together, they sometimes work together, and now they're
they're going to go out on the field. Brandon Kimball,
thanks for joining us once again. Great to see the
Wolverine's pulling it out and best of luck down the road, coach.
Speaker 6 (40:28):
And man, I really appreciate anything to you guys, High
Street Football man. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Thank you Brandon Kimball from Godwin Heights.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
I want to win for them.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
In the last second feel by Gastavo Masiregos thirty yard
field goal to win it thirty one thirty over Fruitport.
All right, we've also had a report coming in from Luddington.
We heard from Luddington coach just a little while ago,

Luttington remained undefeated during its magical season with a thirty
two to seven.
Speaker 5 (41:16):
Victory over Whitehall.
Speaker 13 (41:18):
The Orioles trailed seven zero early in the second quarter
and led only thirteen to seven at half time, but
they pulled away with a big second half a route
to clinching at least a share of the West Mishigan
Conference Lakes Division title. Luddington goes for the Outright Lakes
title next week at Ortraview. Whitehall was a three time
defending champ in the Lakes Division and had won four
straight titles overall.
Speaker 5 (41:37):
On the WMC.
Speaker 13 (41:38):
Senior quarterback cam Gunzell ran for three touchdowns and passed
for two more to power Luddington, which improved a seven
to zero overall on five and zero in the Lakes
the fair State Commits. Scored on runs of eleven, one
and fifteen yards, and he connected with Mikey Hyms on
a five yard scoring toss and with TODs Williams on
a twelve yard touchdown pass. Gunzel was a Healthcare Associates
Player of the game after the six foot three, one
(42:00):
hundred and ninety one pounder rushed for one hundred and
sixty two yards and twenty six carries and completed thirteen
or fourteen passes for one hundred and twenty six yards.
Luttington's sophomore Kyle Hims amazing leaping catch along the Whitehall
sideline in the third quarter, which coach Charlie Gunzell described
as quote mossing the defender, was the Healthcare Associates play
of the game. Liam Leak's four yard touchdown run early
(42:22):
in the second quarter helped give Whitehall a seven zero lead.
Luddington has been rolling this season. Entering Friday's contests, they
were averaging forty eight point seven points per game while
allowing only five point three, but the Vikings gave the
Oriols a challenge early. Luddington is off to its best
start since the nineteen eighty nine Oriel squad finished the
regular season undefeated. Whyhall slips to four and three overall
(42:43):
and three and two in the Lakes. Next week, the
Vikings wrap up Lakes play at home against Fremont. Whyhall
hopes to keep its playoff hopes alive and will host
unbeaten Portland in week nine. Once more, there's a service
Professor's Game reporter Scott de Camp checking in from Lunnington's
Oriel Field, where Luddington defeated Whitehall thirty two.
