Speaker 2 (00:40):
Welcome everyone.
I'm Sophia Yvette, co-host andproducer here in the studio with
Dr Jill Copley.
Dr Copley, how's it going today?
I'm great, sophia.
Thank you for asking Great, that's great to hear.
Over the years, I know you'vegrown a remarkable following.
However, some listeners may notbe familiar with your full
journey.
Let's take it from the top.
Could you share a littlebackground about your company

(01:02):
and what you do?

Speaker 3 (01:05):
So, as you can see, the company is called Total
Hearing Care.
I started working here in 2006,and when the owner retired in
2015, I was able to purchase it.
At that time, we had twolocations and since then we've
grown to five and hopefully asixth within the next couple of

(01:25):
months.
I am one of the audiologists, although I typically am working
on the business as the owner, and I have seven providers and
audiologists to treat people andhelp them with their hearing
loss.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
And when you're not busy running your business, what
do you do for fun?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
When I'm not busy, we try to travel or I try to
travel.
Sometimes my husband goes withme, sometimes I go off with
friends, so I love that.
I also enjoy doing crosswordpuzzles.
My grandmother did crosswordpuzzles.
My dad did.
I never thought I would, but asI got older I did crossword
puzzles my dad did.
I never thought I would, but asI got older I do crossword

(02:08):
puzzles now and I do them withmy dad and I do them with a good
friend almost every weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
That's awesome.
Any other fun hobbies you'dlike to share with our audience?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Well, there's always shopping.
I also read a lot of books.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Any favorite authors.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Oh, I think they're all like crime fiction.
So nothing really, but I thinkbecause my work gets so serious
and running a business, I justwant to read for fun.
I don't read a lot ofliterature per se, so I'm not
sure I should just spread theword about the authors I read,

(02:47):
but it's mostly crime fiction?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Well, there's nothing wrong with reading for fun.
Now we know marketing is key toany business's success.
Well, how do you market yourbusiness?

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Well, we address bringing in new patients several
different ways.
The first way is we really askour current patients who will
love us and are satisfied withtheir hearing care, and we'll
ask them to refer their familyand friends, and so we have
quite a few people that willrefer.
We work with some physicianswho really know how we work with

(03:27):
our patients and who reallybelieve that treating hearing
loss is very important, and sowe get referrals from physicians
.
Another big one is, of course,in today's day and age, is we
advertise online, go throughGoogle Ads and other medium like
that.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
So, Dr Copley, I know you are a very busy person, In
your own words.
Why are you doing this?

Speaker 3 (03:57):
The reason I got into audiology when I started to
look at my passion.
My passion, one of my passions, was learning about the brain and
how we cognitively processinformation.
And hearing loss and cognitiongo hand in hand, and as I went

(04:19):
through school and researchedmore about the cognitive decline
, dementia, other neurologicalconditions, hearing loss just
fit right in, and so I wanted tocombine those two, and so what
I really enjoy is working withfamilies, working with patients
who do lots of things.

(04:40):
I love to hear their storiesabout when they travel, when
they spend time with theirfamilies, and it's just so
interesting their lives.
And so we want to keep peopleactive, we want to keep them
social, and one thing we can dois keep the brain active.
And dealing with hearing loss, treating hearing loss, helps

(05:01):
keep the brain active.
Hearing loss is one of the mainrisk factors for cognitive
decline and dementia, and so Ifeel a real passion for trying
to help people, treat people, work with their families to
delay the cognitive symptoms andhelp people live their best

(05:21):
lives, so I can continue hearingthe fascinating stories that
they love to tell thefascinating stories that they
love to tell.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Aw, love it, Dr Copley.
We'll catch you in the nextepisode.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Have a fantastic rest of your day.
Thank you, Sophia.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
