In this powerful Saturday message, Laurence dives deep into what it means to truly trust God not halfway, not when life feels easy, but when everything feels uncertain. Through Scripture, reflection, and faith filled encouragement, we’re reminded that peace isn’t found in control it’s found in surrender.

The wooden cricket. What's up family?
Happy Saturday and welcome back to the Wooden Cricket Podcast.
I'm Laurence. This is that weekend Pause.
Yeah, a moment to slow down, to breathe, and to let God speak

(00:29):
before Sunday comes. And today we're closing 1
chapter and opening another. We've just wrapped up our
Apostle series. 12 men, 12 Journeys of Faith, Struggle and
transformation. And through every single one of
them, there's a thread that tiesit all together.

(00:52):
Trust. Trust when you don't understand.
Trust when it's quiet. Trust when you've prayed 100
times and the answer still hasn't come.
Because real faith, the kind that changes lives, isn't built
on what you see, it's built on who you believe.

(01:15):
So let's talk about that today. Would it really means to trust
God with your everything? Let's have a look at Proverbs
chapter 3, verses 5 and 6. Trust in the Lord with all your
heart. Do not depend on your own
understanding. Seek His will in all that you

(01:35):
do, and He will show you which path to take.
That's one of those verses that sounds easy until life hits
hard. Because, let's be honest,
trusting God means giving up control.
And giving up control, that's hard.
We want reasons, we want timelines and we want we want

(01:57):
closure. But God says walk with me, not
ahead of me. There are seasons where it feels
like God's silent, but you have to remember that He's never
absent. The teacher is quiet during a
test, but he's still in the room.
Faith doesn't say I understand. Faith says I'm gonna follow

(02:23):
anyway, despite the fact that I don't understand Isaiah 26
versus 3 and 4. You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you.
Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal

(02:44):
rock. Perfect peace that's not found
in perfect circumstances. No, it's found imperfect focus.
If your eyes are on the storm, you'll fear your sink.
If your eyes are on Jesus, you'll find peace.

(03:08):
You'll stand firm. Peace doesn't come from having
the answers, it simply comes from knowing that the answer
never changes and the answer is Jesus.
He's the rock. He's the same yesterday, today

(03:28):
and forever. So when everything around you
starts to feel shaky, stand firmon the One who never moves.
Plant your feet with Jesus. Matthew 6 verses 25 and 27.
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life.

(03:51):
And actually I should say PastorNoah read this in church last
Sunday and it was really good. So I felt I needed to put it in.
We actually talked about this little yesterday at youth.
Anyways, Matthew 6 verses 25 and27 say that is why I tell you
not to worry about everyday life, whether you have enough

(04:11):
food and drink or enough clothesto wear.
Isn't life more than food and your body more than clothing?
Look at the birds, for your Heavenly Father feeds them, and
aren't you far more valuable to Him than they are?

(04:32):
Jesus said this because he knew how we are.
We worry. We overthink.
We try to hold the world in our hands, but Jesus reminds us if
he feeds the birds, if he dresses the lilies, if he sets

(04:55):
the stars, and surely he's got you.
Worry drains your peace, but trust fills it.
You can't worry and worship at the same time.
So choose to trust. Choose to rest in His hands.

(05:16):
Choose Jesus because fear will always try to talk louder than
faith. It's it'll, it'll whisper lies
that you're alone and that it's over and that God's forgotten
all about you. But the Word says otherwise.

(05:37):
Isaiah 4110 says this. Don't be afraid, for I am with
you. Don't be discouraged, for I am
your God. I will strengthen you and help
you. I will hold you up with my
victorious right hand. You might not see the next step,

(05:59):
but he's already standing in it.You might not feel strong, but
he's holding you steady. You might not understand why
it's happening, but he's workingon something eternal.
That's trust, believing that hispresence is so much bigger than

(06:21):
your pain. Romans 828 says this, and we
know that God causes everything to work together for the good of
those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
Not some things. Everything.

(06:43):
Even the heartbreak, even the waiting, even the closed doors
and the unanswered prayers. Because trust is the bridge that
gets you from pain to purpose, from confusion to clarity, from
fear to faith. And when you trust God, you're
saying, Lord, I don't need to see the whole picture.

(07:05):
It doesn't matter. I just need to stay close to the
painter. I need to stay close to you
family. This Saturday message wraps up
our bridge between seasons. We've walked with the apostles,
and we've learned to trust through some of their stories.

(07:27):
But we're not done yet. Not even close.
Next, we're stepping right into a brand new series, The
Teachings of Jesus. We're going straight to His
words, the red letters, the heart of the gospel.
I'm gonna try my best to break down what it actually means to

(07:49):
live what he taught. So make sure you're following
the Wooden Cricket podcast. And if you don't have a church
home yet, I highly recommend checking out Calvary Temple
online this Sunday. There is absolutely no better
place to start to grow than where Jesus is being lifted

(08:11):
high. Yeah.
All right, so family, remember this, God's not asking you to
have it all together. He's just asking you to trust
the one who holds it all together.
Until tomorrow, until next time, this would be Lawrence with the
Wooden Cricket Podcast. I'm out.

(08:33):
Peace.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
