Jesus teaches us not to worry about tomorrow. In today’s episode we read Matthew 6:25 to 34 word for word and reflect on the truth that our Heavenly Father already knows what we need. Anxiety pretends to be wisdom but Jesus gives us freedom and peace when we seek His Kingdom first.

(00:04):
The wooden cricket. What's up family, and happy
Sunday. I'm Lawrence and welcome back to
the Wooden Cricket podcast. I pray right now as you get
ready to head into church or TuneIn online, that your heart

(00:27):
is ready to hear from Jesus clearly today.
Some teachings of Jesus are likea warm blanket, aren't they,
wrapping you up all nice and snug.
And some teachings of Jesus are like a lightning bolt that cuts
you wide open and shows you what's really on the inside.
And today, Jesus goes right after something that dominates

(00:49):
our thoughts. Worry.
He goes straight into the anxiety, the heaviness, the fear
of what if. And he doesn't just say stop it,
He roots it in who your Father is.
So settle in, grab your coffee. This is episode 122.

(01:10):
Do not worry, we're continuing in Matthew chapter 6, verses 25
here. This is where we're going to
start. And Jesus says this.
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life,
whether you have enough food anddrink or enough clothes to wear
life. Isn't life more than food and

(01:32):
your body more than clothing? Look at the birds.
They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your
Heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable
to Him than they are? Can all your worries add a
single moment to your life? Worry pretends to be wisdom.

(01:56):
Worry pretends that being stressed is the same thing as
being responsible. But Jesus says look at the
birds, look at creation. They're not anxious, they're not
pacing, they're not hanging on by a thread.
God sustains them and then Jesusmakes it brutally simple for us.

(02:22):
You matter even more continuing on chapter 4, chapter 6, verse
28. And why worry about your
clothing? Look at the lilies of the field
and how they grow. They don't work or make their
clothing. Yet Solomon in all his glory was

(02:45):
not dressed as beautifully as they are.
And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here
today and throwing into the firetomorrow, He will certainly care
for you. Why do you have so little faith?
This is not Jesus shaming us. This is Jesus lifting our chin

(03:09):
up. He's not saying your fear is
fake, He's saying your Father isreal.
He's giving us a new target, andthat's faith over fear.
You've probably heard that before continuing on verse 31.
So don't worry about these things saying what will we eat,

(03:31):
what will we drink, what will wewear?
These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but
your Heavenly Father already knows all your needs.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously,
and He will give you everything you need.

(03:53):
So don't worry about tomorrow. For tomorrow we'll bring its own
worries. Today's trouble is enough for
today. And there it is.
Jesus does not tell you the storm won't come.
Jesus tells you that the storm is not your God.

(04:14):
He says seek the Kingdom first, make Jesus first priority.
Put Jesus's ways first in your life and your Father already
knows what you need. Just let that sink in.

(04:37):
So today, instead of letting anxious thoughts lead the way,
put Jesus back on the throne of your mind.
So family, as you head into thisSunday, wherever you go, however
you worship, do it with this truth locked in.

(04:58):
You're loved your scene and you were held by Jesus.
And if you don't have a church home, you can always hop online
and check out Calvary Temple Winnipeg while you search for
your own local church family to become part of.
Now go out there. Be a bright light in a dark

(05:21):
place, not through your own strength, but through the power
of Jesus, and let everybody see how great Jesus is through the
steps you put out there. All right, family, I love you.
And until tomorrow, I'm out. Peace.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
