Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:7-11 to keep coming to the Father not once, but continually. This episode explores what it means to ask again, seek again, and knock again, even when your heart feels quiet or disappointed. This is not begging. This is relationship. This is a child coming to a good Father. Let’s walk this out together with Jesus!

(00:04):
The wooden cricket. Sometimes we don't even realize
how quiet we've gotten inside. Sometimes we stop asking because
we got disappointed once. Sometimes we stop seeking

(00:26):
because we got tired. Sometimes we stop knocking
because the door didn't budge last season.
I'm Lawrence and welcome back tothe Wooden Cricket Podcast
family. Today we continue the teachings
of Jesus, the Sermon on the Mount, and we come to a moment
where Jesus tells us what to do with those deep heart longings.

(00:51):
The ones we keep buried under business are under fear.
Jesus doesn't tell us to shrink back.
No, He invites us to engage, to take a step towards the Father,
and our scripture readings todayare starting in Matthew Chapter
7, verse 7. Jesus says this.

(01:13):
Keep on asking and you will receive what you ask for.
Keep on seeking and you will find.
Keep on knocking and the door will be open to you.
For everyone who asks, receives, everyone who seeks finds, and to
everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

(01:37):
Jesus is describing a way of living, not a one time prayer.
Ask and keep asking, seek and keep seeking, Knock and keep
knocking. That is not desperation, that's
relationship stuff. And then Jesus paints a family

(01:57):
picture so we won't misunderstand the Father's
heart. Matthew Chapter 7, verse 9 to
11. You parents, if your children
ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?
Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake?
Of course not. So if you sinful people know how

(02:20):
to give good gifts to your children, how much more will
your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him?
Jesus is reminding us here, thisisn't manipulation.
This isn't begging. This isn't twisting God's arm.

(02:41):
This is a child coming to a goodfather.
We ask because his heart is good.
We seek because His wisdom is better than ours, and we knock
because His timing is always right.
Some of us haven't been asking because we're afraid of being

(03:05):
disappointed again. Some of us aren't seeking
because we're numb. Some of us gave up knocking
because the silence was painful. But Jesus didn't say once.
He said keep, keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking and

(03:29):
sometimes the gift he gives is not the thing we had pictured.
Sometimes the gift is peace. Sometimes the gift is clarity,
sometimes the gift is direction, and sometimes the gift is simply
more of His presence. So today, just take the next

(03:53):
small step. Ask again, seek again, and mark
again, because Jesus is good foreveryone who asks, receives
everyone who seeks, fines to everyone who knocks.
The door will be opened. And I think that's incredible.

(04:14):
So before we close out this short 1 today, let me just say
this heart to heart. If your faith voice has felt
quiet. If you've been low key scared to
hope again. If you've been walking around
with your guard up, with your defences up, Jesus isn't rolling

(04:37):
his eyes at you. I don't think he's frustrated
with you. He is literally inviting you
back into the conversation rightnow, today, this very moment.
You can begin again. You just got to ask, you just
got to seek, and you just got toknock.

(04:58):
And family. If you are still without a
church community, a church family to call your own, Calvary
Temple is a solid spot. A real church family vibe where
you can be encouraged, discipledand built up in the word.
I encourage you to check it out online or in person if you're
ever in Winnipeg and go out there.

(05:21):
Be a bright light in a dark place today.
I love you all and until tomorrow, how about he peace?

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
