(00:04):
The wooden cricket. Family, this is the final
episode in our journey through the Sermon on the Mount.
The teachings of Jesus straight from his heart, straight from

(00:24):
his mouth. I'm warrants who?
Welcome back to the Wooden Cricket Podcast.
We've spent 13 episodes on this mountain right behind Jesus.
Step by step, word by word, we heard him say, Blessed are the
poor in spirit, blessed are those who mourn, blessed are the

(00:45):
humble. We've heard him call us salt, a
preservation of truth. And he called this light
visible, noticeable, purposeful,not hidden.
We heard him say that righteousness is not behavior
management, it's heart transformation.

(01:07):
He told us to love our enemies, to give without show, to pray
without performance, to store treasure in heaven, not here, to
not worry like unbelievers because the Father sees
everything. To judge without hypocrisy.
To ask, to seek, to knock, to keep knocking, to choose the

(01:27):
narrow gate, to look at the fruit.
Because fruit always reveals theroot.
And now Jesus ends the entire mountain with this final,
cutting, revealing image. What are you building your life
on? We continue reading in Matthew

(01:49):
Chapter 7, verses 24 to 27. Jesus says this.
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise,
like a person who builds a houseon solid rock.
Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters
rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse

(02:13):
because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching
and doesn't obey it is foolish. Like a person who builds a house
on sand, when the rains and floods come and the winds beat
against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.
And Jesus repeats this again to make sure that we cannot make

(02:35):
excuses. So in Luke chapter 6 verses 46
to 49 says this. So why do you keep calling me
Lord? Lord, when you don't do what I
say, I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me,
listens to my teaching, and thenfollows it.
It's like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the

(02:59):
foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and
break against that house, it stands firm because it is well
built. But anyone who hears and doesn't
obey is like a person who buildsa house right on the ground
without any foundation. When the floods sweep down

(03:20):
against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.
Family, listen. Jesus is not asking for
admiration. Jesus is not asking for
applause. Jesus is not asking for polite

(03:41):
nods in agreement. Jesus is calling for surrender.
He's not just saying hear this sermon.
He is saying, build your entire life on this.
Build it on me. Storms are guaranteed in life.

(04:02):
Floods are going to rise. Winds are going to beat against
you. Wave after wave will slam your
faith around. Sand can't hold identity, sand
can't hold purpose, and sand cannot hold calling.
Send looks aesthetic, but Sam collapses and Jesus is calling

(04:27):
his people back to the rock. This is the moment.
This is the crossroads. This is where the Sermon on the
Mount becomes a way of life, notjust information.
If you feel that tug, that conviction that's stirring, that

(04:48):
is not emotion. That's a Holy Spirit inviting
you to build your tomorrow differently than your yesterday.
We don't walk this call alone. Jesus draws us into community,
doesn't he? Into discipleship, into
fellowship, into the body of Christ.

(05:11):
So if you're listening from Winnipeg or anywhere really,
join us, Calvary Temple every Sunday in person online, because
you don't have to learn how to build on the rock by yourself.
You're not alone here. You are not alone in any of this
family. Carry Jesus with you in your

(05:31):
heart, in your decisions and your reactions, in your
relationships, in your storms, in your Mondays, in your
Fridays, in your midnights. Everywhere you go, stay with me.
Be a bright light in a dark place.
Live with intention, live with joy, live with courage, and live

(05:56):
with Jesus. Until tomorrow, I'm out.
Peace.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
