Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, so what were you doing when you were nine
years old? If you're Beckett Tarvar from Carlsbad, you're inventing
a family board game. It's called Rainforest Rumble. It's a
strategic game where you pose as a brazil nut tree.
The game encourages competition and collaboration.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
It really is quite an endeavor for special such a
young man. And we have Beckett on the Coco News lifeline. Beckett,
congratulations on your new board game. What what led you
to decide to try and come up with this board game?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
In third grade, I had an assignment where I had
to create a game, and I made a board game.
When we shared it in class, everybody loved mine. And
a few years later than I wanted, or like a
year later, I wanted to like make this into a
real thing.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Wow, So kind of explain the game. What's the concept
of the game.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
So it's similar to some games that we have now
where your goal is to travel all the way around
the board and then up the center path to get
to the middle first. But there are different spaces that
can give you an advantage or disadvantage, and there's cards
that you can use to outplay your opponents.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
What is your inspiration for the theme of your board game?
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I just didn't know what the animals to choose from,
so I chose rainforest.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
I love it. Wow, and a brazil nut tree.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Did you have to do some research to find out
about brazil nut trees in order to do this game?
Speaker 3 (01:39):
There's nothing involved with brazil nut trees.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Okay, we are speaking with back at tow Harvard, the
inventor of this board game.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
He's nine years old.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
And what grade did you get after creating this game
that all of your classmates loved and then you invented
and make it possible for people to buy in the future.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Yes, so all right, So what do you hope happens
with this game? Back?
Speaker 1 (02:09):
And I know that you're trying to get it out
so that everybody can play it right.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Right now? My goal is to get funded on Kickstarters
so I can then get a bunch of copies and
start selling it.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
All right, Kickstarter, what is your handle on Kickstarters so
people in San Diego can support a young, very professional entrepreneur.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Just go and Kickstarter and type in Reinforce Rumble and
you'll see it.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
So do you think that this might be something that
you do for your career. I mean, do you have
plans to be like a businessman, to be an inventor,
to be a you know, I don't want to call
you a gamer because that makes people think of a
different kind of game. But are you going to do
anything for the rest of your life based on this game?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
I think I want to be an entrepreneur, just like
make a ton of different companies and like make a
ton of my ideas come true. I love it.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Your reaction from your parents, they must be pretty darn proud.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, nice, Beckett, thank you so much for talking to
us today.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
And congratulations.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
All right, So again, that's Beckett Tarbor. He's from Carlsbad.
He's nine, he's yeah, and he invented a board game
that he's trying to get out to the public. You
can google it. It's called Rainforest Rumble.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
You looked it up on Google, so it is already
on Google's right, Yeah, Yeah, if you google it, you
find it.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
And so he's got that Kickstarter campaign and you just
have to look up Rainforest Rumble to help him out.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
That's awesome.
