A Woman Who Wrote a Book Because a Lion Told her to

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some people claim to be horse whispers. Maybe they're a
dog whisper. But today's World Lion Day, so we decided
to speak with a local woman who claims she can
speak to lions.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
A La joya woman has spent a lot of time
traveling to far corners of the world. She actually has
just written a book. It's called Wild Conversations, The Wisdom
of African Animals.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
It comes out today, which is World Lion Days. Susan
McGee now joins us on the Coco News liveline. Welcome
to San Diego's morning News.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Susan, thank you very much. I'm glad to be here.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Tell us a little bit about this. You've been on
a lot of African safaris, and it looks like you
have been massively inspired by that.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I have. I've done three safaris. On the first one,
an animal, big elephant, started to talk to me. On
the second one, they all started to talk to me,
and a lion asked me to share these messages with
the human race and write the book. And that's how
Wild Conversations got created.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
That's wild. I want to ask you a little bit
more about that. But I've had two friends who have
done some faris in Africa, and they swear by it
and they say it's just the most magical experience. I
imagine that's probably what you're feeling when you're out there
in the serengetti looking at all these amazing animals. Was
there a little bit of magic there?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
I've traveled the world. It is the most powerful place
I've ever been. It is beautiful, it is extraordinary, and
it changes your life.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
We have to ask you, how did the animals tell
you to write this book?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Well, on the first safari, I saw a big, huge
herd of elephants. The matriarch stopped them when they saw
our Geep pulled the babies together, and for whatever reason,
just said, in my mind, I have come a very
long way? What message do you have for me? And
then I heard slow down, slow down, don't rush, love

(01:46):
your family, play together like we play in the mud,
and know that all life is eternal. Then the next
time I go lyon with a black mange is kind
of walking around and he shares a message and then
I here, Susan, you're going to share these messages with
other people. You're going to write a book. And I
made it promise that day to do that.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
What kind of messages do you hope your book brings
to the general public.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Two fundamental messages. First, slow down, spend time and nature.
Reconnect to the earth, to the heavens, and to all
creatures living I mean all the humans, and send blessings
around the world. The second one is do what you
can to preserve the natural world the animals that live
in it. There are a lot of conservation organizations that

(02:33):
save these animals, and it's important for us to do that.
Then the next thing I say to myself, try and
not use a lot of plastic bottles.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah, you know, I can totally get behind your messages.
I have a feeling a lot of other people can too.
And your book is out today.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
It's called Wild Conversations The Wisdom of African Animals. It
has one hundred and twenty photographs taken by a world
class photographer of all these animals in the wild.
