The Best Spots for International Travel on a Budget

We're deep in travel season right now, and with high airline prices, it's hard to know the best place to visit. Veronica Carter and Bret Burkhart found out from airline pricing guru and the founder of SeatCash, Chris Amenechi.

thank you so much for joining us on San Diego's
Morning News.

Hey, good morning, Thank you for having me time.

Was buying a ticket to get on a plane for vacation,
Tuesday was always the best day? Is that still the case?
Or is that just an old wives tale.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
That's an all wives, old guys, old man's tale that
came from a day of USA Today newspapers and Southwest ads.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
It seems like it's busier than ever. Am I wrong?
Or are more people flying? No matter the fact that
we none of us have any money allegedly, it seems
like more people are flying.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Well, flying is a lifestyle. I mean after COVID, and
it has been growing that way, but I think COVID
accelerated it. Nobody had to talks about COVID anymore, but
he had a lot of impact on a lot of things.
And we all it's not a lifestyle. We either commuted
back and forth, we're working from home, we're working in
a different city and we go to see people. That's happening.

But the other piece is one major airline is no
longer in playing, so all the people that flew that
airline have to now fight for seats on the remaining
seats on all the existing airlines and remaining airlines. So
expect prices to keep going up. And that's why it

looks full.

You know, as much as you follow this, do you
know the spots that are all a sudden popular that
weren't popular before.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
In the US, it's a bit interested. Vegas isn't as
popular as it used to be, Whi is not naturally
as popular as it used to be. In Europe, Portugal
Spain right are probably the biggest hits. Croatia is also
a big hit. Japan is a tremendous destination now and

you know the usuals Bali and places like that are fine.
But Africa, Cape Town is going crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Well here's the question. Then, if you want to go
somewhere cheap, then do you just pick the places that
aren't popular?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
You can. I'll give you an example. I wouldn't say it's
exactly cheap, but rather than go to Europe, good to Montreal.
It's a shorter flight and it's a cheaper exchange rate
and you'll get the best of the best of skills
in Europe in Montreal, and that's in Canada across the border.
Other places you can go to, I mean five hours

from Lasses in Latin Americas, Panama City in the country
of Panama, and you can get some of the best
if you're fruity, that's a great place to go. Good
night life, beautiful eco tourism and great hotel rates and
that's a really good vacation and English gets you buy

(02:54):
very well. And then non stuff flights through about seventeen
cities in the US.
