(00:00):
Thanks for tuning in and listening, whether you're listening live on this Independence Day
weekend or via podcast at and ifyou don't, if you aren't signed up
for the podcast or whatever, youcan do it on pretty much all of
the Spotify is the iHeart but goto iHeart dot com slash media and just
type in gun Radio Utah. Youwill find it and you can get you
(00:21):
can actually just like sign up tofollow it or whatever like that. We're
on ten years now, folks,We're on ten years. We're number five
gun Radio Utah and no apologies, number five. I think it's number five
in the nation for gun related stuffand way up there on just any genre
really in Utah. So anyway, lots of fun, We have a ton
(00:44):
of stuff. Bill Patterson is onan excused absence today for some reason he
thought that Independence Day weekend would bea great weekend to go up to his
cabin out of transmission range. Sowhatever. So Bill is a great director
with Utah Shooting Sports Council, andI am the chairman until they fire me
or until I stop answering the phone. Anyway, We'll talk more about Utah
(01:10):
Shooting Sports Council in a while. So we have got a lot, We've
got a ton. I don't knowif I'm gonna get to it all.
So I'm gonna try to just saythe stuff that I'm going to promise to
get to and one of them ishomicide homicide mortality by state. And you
know a lot of people fudget thesenumbers, but I went right to the
(01:32):
CDC, and that's where I wantsomething consistent, something you know, hey,
neither side can really you know, argue about. We're going to talk
about that because we have some newnumbers, some new numbers on homicide mortality
by state and some well I wasactually a little surprised. So yeah,
(01:52):
and hey, do you ever goto the store and you have a list
of things to buy, you know, milk, eggs, bread, tortilla's,
ammunition, Yes, ammunition, there'sliterally a Well we're gonna we're gonna
have a little story about that.Well you can hopefully coming to Utah soon,
(02:12):
you can buy a box Ammo rightat the grocery store. Yeah,
yeah, there's a new company.Anyways, we'll want to talk about,
well, how do you get buyall the background or the federal law on
age limits and that type of thing. Now, we'll talk about that.
And the other thing I want totalk about is and we've talked about it
(02:35):
before, hit percentage. And whenI read a newspaper article or really not
news, who reads the newspaper anymore? When I read an article online,
especially about a shooting or something likethat, I look at things differently than
most people, and I'm looking forkey points. After the obvious, you
(03:00):
know, shooting thing comes in,and I want to know how many shots
were fired and how many shots hit, because by saying how many shots hit,
then I can deduce with simple arithmetichow many shots missed. And we're
gonna we'll look at a couple articleshere where. And they never, you
(03:21):
know, the reports never actually comeright out and say this is how many
shots missed. No, they shakehow many shots hit the person? Sometimes,
And that's what I really kind ofOther than they got the bad guy,
they got the guy they were shootingat Orkal, I want to know
where the other shots went. Iwant to know where the other bullets went,
(03:46):
which is I mean, it's obviously, hey, you shoot up in
the air. Don't do this.Don't do as Joe Biden says, to
go outside and fire your twelve gagedouble barreled in the off your porch into
the air for Independence Day or forPioneer Day coming up. But because those
bullets, you know, you alwayssay, oh, the bullets are going
to come down somewhere. It's veryrare. I will tell you that it's
(04:09):
very rare, and they come down. They may go up at two thousand,
three thousand feet per second, butthey're only going to come down at
around three hundred feet per second. Not that I want to get hit with
a bullet at three hundred feet persecond, but just so you know,
and it is, it would beextremely rare, but people do get hit,
So don't do that. But becauseyou're responsible for where that bullet goes,
(04:31):
well, we're gonna revisit with somenew information from the rand I Rand
Report or a rand was it commission, whatever it is, on hit rate,
and we'll revisit that with some newsarticles Americans are buying if they're still
(04:55):
buying tons and tons literally tons ofguns. In fact, I got to
do a little shout out to Casey, Jane and Kohlei who are probably sitting
on the verandah outside and gazing outto the south and in beautiful Juinta County
(05:17):
at ghostde Manor, and they kickedme out. They kicked me out of
the house. I had to goto the what we call the hobo house
here in Cottwood Heights and they andthe dogs. They kicked the dogs out
too, so they came with me, and so I said, tack with
that, I'm fine, I'll justbuy a gun. So I went to
(05:39):
I went to Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday andI bought a gun and I had fun
so there and it was a verypainless experience. I bought a new Henry
big Boy Model X three fifty sevenmagnum lever action. It's really a cool
(05:59):
gun. And technically so it's CaseyJane's birthday coming up on the sixteenth of
this month, and I said,I said, well, I'm buying a
gun. You want a gun oryou want a rifle for your birthday?
And she kind of looks at melike, I said, well, it's
the only way I can legitimately ethically, you know, buy something this close
to your birthday without just giving itto So, Casey Jane, you have
(06:21):
a new Henry big Boy three fiftyseven magnum in U a lever action and
it's kind of cool. It's gota polymer stock in fore end. It
it's you know, it's iron sights. It's it's got a Picatinny rail on
it though, and it's got otherspots on the stock for different type of
(06:41):
attachments and which the name of theother attachment just escapes me right now.
And I mean it's pretty cool.It holds I think it holds like nine
rounds maybe something like that, andyou can load it through the side loading
gate like on a standard lever actionand it ejects off the side rather than
off the top like the old Winchesterninety fours. But you can also load
(07:05):
it from the top from the magazinetube. You can open up the magazine
tube, but the you know, near the muzzle. But I'm glad that
they have it two ways because,uh, Casey Jane, I'm sure is
going to put a can a muffleron the gun and it's just going to
be so much fun because it's it'sit comes threaded as well. So they're
(07:27):
on sale right now over at it'snot an ad for sports, although it
could be. They're on sale rightnow. They're like almost one hundred bucks
off, so just type in Henrythree fifty seven mag And they have the
bright boys that you know, thekind of brass shiny brass ones. And
they have the I don't think thoseare on sale, but they have the
black ones, which it'd be greatif they get backed around a little bit,
(07:47):
it won't hurt. So anyway,Americans bought, like me, five
point five million guns in the firstquarter of this year. Five point five
million guns. Now that's the ones, that's the ones they know about.
Anyway, Supposedly there's this big articlelike there, we're buying less guns.
(08:13):
We're down four percent. For goodnesssakes, that's it. It's four percent
down from the high in twenty twentyduring during the Kung flu period. So
they're trying to make hey about that. Let me tell you I can.
I'll bet you anything. This nextquarter and the quarters leading up to the
(08:33):
election are going to be even higher, are going to be even higher.
Anyway, We've got lots we havereally lots lots more to talk about that
I haven't mentioned yet when we comeback on Gun Radio, Utah. So
stay tuned. Hey, A shoutout to you folks in Louisiana out in
Louisiana and the buy you welcome tothe club. Folks, welcome to the
(08:56):
club. Over this on Independence Day, July fourth, twenty twenty four,
they just joined. Louisiana just joinedthe permitless carry club along with twenty eight
other folks that include Utah. AndI was just looking, so yeah,
they triggered theirs AT triggered to gointo effect on Thursday, which was Independence
(09:20):
Day. So I thought that waskind of kind of cool. It's interesting
because you know, hey, Utahours is recognized. Permitless carry is recognized
for twenty one and over, buteighteen you can actually buy a handgun from
a private sale in Utah, andin many states you can do that.
(09:41):
About ten of this those twenty ninestates, which by the way is a
plurality. We have more states thatdon't infringe on that right to carry than
do About ten of those are goodfor eighteen year olds end up. So
I guess that's on the list ofthings to take care of next session.
(10:03):
So we will. I think it, actually it is. There's a few
others. There's a lot of there'sa lot of changes coming. There's a
lot of changes coming. Think theterm recodification. There's a there's a term
for you, recodification, all right, So okay, so I'll get into
this. Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. The city of Dayton is going to
(10:26):
explore a national program to reduce gunviolence after a rash of recent shootings.
And one of those recent shootings thatthey highlighted was actually the police shooting a
kid. Now, this kid didhave a fully automatic block pistol and it
(10:48):
turned it turned to them with thisgun and they shot him. Okay,
So I remember I told you Ilook at news stories differently, and but
I found it just kind of weirdthat the news organization, they're the local
news organization in Dayton, decided tolist that as one of the shootings that
(11:11):
troubled Obviously it's troubling, but thattroubled the city, And to talk about
gun violence, I don't like thatterm anyway. So moving on from that,
there were two officers that fired atotal of eight times, according to
the police chief, Cameron A.Fsall. And so I'm waiting, I'm
(11:39):
looking, and I'm looking and I'mlooking. Finally found out this child died.
He was sixteen years old. Thischild died. He was shot once
in the left shoulder and he diedlater at a local hospital. And I'm
not questioning the justification of the shoot. I'm not. What I'm saying is
maybe the city of Dayton should belooking at additional training. One out of
(12:05):
eight okay, think of an inchon a ruler. The one of the
tiniest marks is one eighth. That'show many times they hit. One out
of eight times. All right, they should maybe be looking into more training
because hit once, but you missed, you put seven shots somewhere else,
(12:30):
somewhere else, and we got lookingat that. So the RAND, it
was a RAND study, That's whatI was talking about. The RAND.
There was a twenty eight, twentyeighteen and a twenty twenty two RAND study
that looked at the accuracy of policedepartments and police department officer involved shootings.
And they looked at the hit ratethe number of rounds that struck a suspect
(12:54):
divided by the total shots fired.Okay, so it was interesting twenty three
percent hit rate. So that meansobviously seventy seven percent not hit rate if
(13:15):
the target the bad guy was morethan seven yards away, so twenty one
feet away. More than that, they actually got twenty three percent hit rate.
If they were closer or farther.Interesting, if they were closer than
twenty one yards or much greater thanseven yards away, they hit eighteen percent
(13:39):
of the time. That's eighteen. So eighteen rounds out of one hundred were
hitting, eighty two were not.Where are they going now? I am
trying to find and I don't know. I'm trying to find because obviously,
(14:00):
when a regular folks like you orme shooting in lawful self defense, whether
we have a permit or not,we're in lawful self defense. We're in
our home, we're in the parkinglot wherever. How many times do we
shoot? How many times do wehit? How many times do we miss?
I'd like to find out if thatthat in. I mean obviously in
(14:20):
the police reports it's there, butI'm wondering, can we find that out?
I want to I'd be interested.I'd actually be interested to find that
out. And I mean I've heardanecdotal reports that were that were more accurate,
(14:41):
but I would like to find out, all right, what was the
other one that was? Oh yeah, so we'll go to homicide mortality later
on. So you know, yougo to the store and you pick up
your cheese and your bread, andyour milk and your tortillas and all that
kind of stuff, like I saidbefore. Well, now, so in
Alabama. In Alabama, in Bama, there's two grocery stores and soon to
(15:07):
be forty more that a company calledAmerican Rounds has an automated ammunition dispenser.
It uses AI to verify your IDthrough your you know, your driver's license
and three hundred and sixty degree scanto match it to the ID card.
(15:31):
Three hundred and sixty degree scan. That's interesting. Anyway, The two machines
that are in use right now areat Fresh Value locations in Tuscaloosa and in
pel City. And so I watcheda YouTube video on this, and yeah,
literally you put in your ID andit and you can get a box
of nine mili Blazer AMMO or HornetyCritical Defense or whatever right out of there.
(15:54):
And so the COO of Fresh Valuein a promotional video said the kiosk
is a big hit with customers. So then apparently, and it says totally,
the ATF approved this, you know, because they're checking the idea and
that kind of stuff. And apparentlythe a city councilman he said he got
(16:15):
some calls about ammunition being sold ingrocery stores, vending machines. He says,
is that, he says, Imean I thought it was a lie.
Is that I thought it was ajoke, But it's not. Anyway,
I'm all for it. I'm allfor it. I bet you won't
find it in you can find itin fresh value locations. I don't think
we have any of those, butI'll bet you don't find it in what's
(16:36):
that, what's that tree hugger store, fresh market or something like that.
I don't know. I bet youwon't find it there. So anyway,
looking forward to having those and wecan pick up. We just do all
your shopping right there. Get itall done. Hey, folks. So
some of you know, we gotgot a drone, and Bill Petterson he
got a drone. So we're alldroning everywhere. We're getting these drones.
(17:00):
Folks, don't shoot the drones.Don't don't shoot the drone. Don't that's
illegal. You're shooting an aircraft.Apparently, apparently that's a charge Florida.
Unfortunately, we have to go toFlorida for this for this story. Florida
resident Dennis Wynn admitted to shooting downa Walmart drone with a nine millimeter handgun.
(17:22):
Last week, he fired one roundnear his home and hit the drone
from Walmart. He has a betterhit ratio than law enforcement does. Wow,
he's a one viz one hundred percent. Anyway, According to the arrest
affidavit, the drone belonged to droneup, which is a UAV unmanned aerial
(17:45):
vehicle whatever company that works with Walmartto deliver these things. And he said
Win, the guy that was chargedwith shooting at an aircraft, criminal mischief
damage over one thousand dollars in discharginga firearm in public or residential property.
The sheriff department said, Win saidhe had seen other drones flying over his
property before and believed that they weresurveilling him. The Sheriff's department said,
(18:10):
he says, I then told himhe had struck a Walmart drone. The
defendant looked in disbelief and questioned, really, love these articles. Love these
articles. So apparently there are reportsof drones from this in North Carolina,
California, and Kentucky as well asnow Florida. And Walmart can serve us
(18:30):
four million customers right now, butincluding Walmart, but Chick fil A and
door Dash uses these up to sixto seven thousand times per month in the
United States alone. So folks, stop shooting at the drone. They're recording
you. If you think they're surveillingyou, they're also recording you. So
(18:52):
anyway, uh, yeah, don'tshoot the drones. All right? What
have we got? We've got?Oh, you know what, I Am
going to do this this and Iwon't forget it. The gunsmith at Sportsman's
Warehouse. All right, do youwant to get your gun fitted for a
mos and optic? Maybe the slideneeds to be cut and you don't have
(19:14):
a slide and they can cut theslide for you to put it on there
so you can shoot drones that aresurveilling you. Whatever, No, don't
do that now. I'm on recordnow saying don't technically do that. But
get your gun whatever you need,Sarah coding, engraving, fixing, adjusting,
barrel threading, whatever you need.Get your gun over to the gunsmith
(19:37):
a Sportsman's Warehouse sixteen thirty South fiftyseventy West in Salt Lake City, or
get them a call at eight toone three zero four eighty seventy eight to
one three zero four eighty seventy. They will take care of whatever you need.
Now. Besides that, you cantake it into any of the over
one hundred and forty six sportsmen's warehouselocations. Run over to the back,
to the to the gun department, say get this to the gunsmith a sportsman's
(20:02):
warehouse. When we come back ongun Radio Utah, we've got lots more
to talk about. So stay rightthere, hight, Welcome back to gun
Radio Utah, and thanks for listening, whether you're live or on podcasts anyway.
So, do you ever read thearticles where it says there was a
shooting downtown, we're still looking forthe suspect or two people were injured and
(20:26):
so. But at the end, apparently police are telling the news reporters they
believe the incident, the incident wasisolated and there is no danger to the
public, even though there were twopeople in this case. It was just
a couple of days ago, fourthof July, Salt Lake City police report
(20:48):
that they're investigating a shooting in theBallpark neighborhood where two people were injured.
Apparently there were two gang bangers holdingtheir gun sideways, blasting away to each
other. They both ended up goingto the hospital, but do not worry.
There is no danger to the public, and because the gang bangers are
extremely accurate, much more accurate thanthe average person in that so not to
(21:11):
worry. Speaking of shootings, thisis also rather troubling. I don't know,
you ain't it. You make withit what you will. A third
man has been arrested. This wasfrom Wednesday. A third man has been
arrested in connection with a fatal shootingin the parking lot of a Salt Lake
City warehouse where a party was beingheld the night of May twenty sixth,
(21:32):
And this third person. So theyalready arrested a couple people, and they
finally just arrested this other guy, nihal mawut Buck. And I read that
and I said, wait, waita minute, buck as in buk Buck
(21:52):
that we already had him. Yeah, remember buck Buck kind of the alliteration
there. He was arrested for thekilling of University of Utah football player Aaron
Lowe in twenty twenty one, andbuck Buck had had numerous run ins with
the law prior to that, includingvia a friend of mine and his daughter
(22:18):
who were robbed armed robbery while theywere selling an iPhone, and the guy
shot at him anyways, and noprosecution against buck Buck in that case none,
So he was layer led on tobe involved in another shooting that we
know of, and then the actualfinal shooting of Aaron Lowe in twenty twenty
(22:40):
one. Now he's in prison.Well, come to find out that this
guy Nihal or ne Isle, Ican't say, is buck Buck's brother.
My gosh, this runs in thefamily. Are there any more brothers and
sisters in the buck Buck family thatare here in Salt Lake? Anyway?
(23:03):
So just thought i'd throw that outthere. That was just from a couple
days ago. What else we go? California, California. It went into
effect as of Monday. It wasMonday. California becomes the first state to
increase eleven percent excise tax when youpurchase guns and ammunition. And if that
(23:30):
isn't good enough, also it saysthat if you're a retailer of guns and
or ammunition, you now have totrack and supply that information, track credit
card purchases on guns and ms sothe state can access that information. Yeah.
(23:52):
So this first off, the excisetax is going to be paid for
by the very people who are notthe problem. Because to buy guns and
ammunition in California, you have toprovide idea you have to do literally do
a background check for ammunition, andthey're funding that that goes into a state
(24:15):
program on gun violence and gun safetyto fund it by the very people who
are not the problem. And thenif you remember the MCC the merchant category
codes, we prohibited that. Actuallywe did just the opposite of what California
does, and we prohibited MCC codesfrom being generated or tracked or in any
(24:41):
way whatsoever in the state of Utahfor purchase of guns and ammunition. California
went the other way and not onlyallows it, but requires it so the
state can access it. So whatis the state going to do with that
information? I don't know. Theyhave so many restrictions on firearms already,
and Utah has like none, nonethat you know. We have no restrictions
(25:10):
beyond federal law really and so obviouslyour homicide rate, as we've talked about
before, you folks know where thisis going. Our homicide rate must be
through the roof crazy talk. Let'ssee US news and world reports. Even
with this free for all on gunsand ammo and carrying and using and that
(25:34):
kind of stuff that US News andWorld Reports said, Utah is the state
to live in. It does thegreat state. I wish they hadn't said
that, actually, because I thinkwe're full. I don't. I actually
don't think there's any more room available. I think we're peeked out. We'll
let you know when somebody moves outand then the next one person can move
(25:59):
in. But so Utah beat NewHampshire. New Hampshire came in second place.
Now we've always been back and forthas to which is the best run
state, and so on and soforth. So I decided, Hey,
the new report from the CDC isout on homicide mortality by state by state,
and that's it's a ratio, youknow, versus our population and so
(26:22):
on and so forth. All Right, they call it CDC calls it the
death rate. Well, New Hampshirebeats us, Rhode Island beats us.
But we are now third. Weused to be fourth or fifth, Now
we're third two point two. We'reat two point two deaths per one hundred
thousand. Where's California. Oh,there's California. Three times we talked about
(26:47):
this before, three times. Whatours is? Hey, just for fun,
let's find out where District of ColumbiaWashington, d C. Is.
Oh, here they are fourteen timeswhat ours are fourteen times? And I
will note that they both those stateshave much much more stringent control on firearms.
(27:14):
Doesn't seem to be doing Maybe theyhad to go the other way around.
All right, what time we gotNo, we've got time for this
one. All right? Oh no, I don't what I wanted to do.
So did you hear about the errantfireworks at Leavell Edwards Stadium of being
fired upon on the fourth of July? I heard about that. Then there's
(27:37):
video all over the place just asthe F thirty fives, I think their
F thirty fives flew over the stadium. They did some fireworks and they went
into the crowd and injured. AndI seriously hope those people are doing better,
seriously injured some folks. And LavelleEdwards Stadium actually on their rules if
(28:00):
you go to their website, theydon't allow fireworks, so somehow they obviously
this is a different situation, butthey also don't allow firearms of any kind.
And I don't know. Just beforewe go to break I'm just wondering,
how do we protect ourselves against theseattack yate assault fireworks there, but
(28:22):
they don't allow they don't allow fireworks, and these now errant fireworks are attacking
people, and I think they maybeought to rethink their restrictions on that.
When we come back, we'll havemore fun stuff and some serious stuff to
talk about on Gun Radio Utah.So stay tuned, Welcome back to Gun
Radio Utah. All right, soyou know we said there's no apologies and
(28:48):
well, so I have no apologiesfor this next clip that I'm going to
play. And it was sent tome, it was after it. It's
Joe Biden. And let me justsay this, I think, honestly,
I think he needs a keeper.Anyway. He is wrapping up a gun
safety speech in Connecticut and talking abouthow great the Bipartisans Safer Communities Act against
(29:12):
Guns was going, and he madethis very curious statement meeting for you,
I promise, all right, Godsave the queen, man, God save
the queen. The Queen's been deadfor a while. And what does that
(29:32):
He's in Hartford, Connecticut, folks. I And that's how we ended it,
That's how he ended it. AndI mean this, this goes right
along with put a pistol on abrace, it turns into a gun.
Makes some more. You're gonna havea higher caliber weapon, a higher caliber
bullet coming out of that gun's essentiallyturn it into a short barrel rifle.
(29:55):
All right, So anyway that isuh, oh, by the way,
yes, you can have your soto speak, short broiled rifles. You
can have your pistols with braces onthem again, and that didn't even have
to go to the Supreme Court. So anyway, so yeah, if you're
wondering, yes you can have them. You can. You can go scuba
diving for them in the lake thatyou that they fell into, or and
(30:18):
gun stores are selling them again. So yeah. Anyway, Oh, speaking
of gun stores, did you everever go into a gun store though,
and you're waiting your turn or you'reyou know whatever, you're waiting for your
forty four to seventy three to comeback and with a yes or whatever,
(30:40):
and people will start looking at guns. Other people are looking at guns,
and they're pointing them at you arrently, you know. I mean, they're
not looking down the front side rearsight and using you as their target,
but I would hope not. Butthey are either inadvertently or accidentally or whatever.
(31:03):
Just you're looking right down that barrel, and you know, maybe you
say something, maybe you don't.And I know somebody was. I know
I've been there and had that happenedto me, had it happened to other
people near me? And I rememberit's hey, it's a gun store,
they're not loaded. And I literallyheard the guy on the other end of
the counter. Now this was notat any of my favorite gun stores.
(31:27):
Literally the guy on the other sideof the counter said, hey, it's
a gun store, they're not loaded, Like, oh my gosh. And
well, apparently that didn't happen. In Kentucky, a fifty year old Kentucky
man has died after a fellow customerin a gun store he was in discharged
a firearm accidentally. Apparently. Soit was eight thirty at night on last
(31:55):
Saturday, and he was fatally shotwhen the another customer was handling a firearm
and manipulating it when a single rounddischarge, striking the victim. So anyway,
that's that's that's I'm just trying,how the heck did that happen?
(32:17):
How did a round on a displayfirearm get into the gun? And I
get thinking, maybe Alec Baldwin hadsomething, not that he had anything to
do with this, but he mayuse this. Because no charges have been
filed, they're really their released. The police report says no foul play is
suspected and no charges are pending atthis time. I'm sure there's going to
(32:39):
be some civil cases. But uh, isn't this kind of like Alec Baldwin
what he's been saying? Hey,the gun just what it wasn't me.
I didn't do I didn't press thetrigger. It just went off. So
I don't know anyway, all right, So, oh, you know what,
before I forget, I tell youabout Utah Shooting Sports Council, and
(33:00):
we're always looking for good people. In fact, we're going to have a
meeting here pretty soon and decide onsome additional positions within Utah Shooting Sports Council,
within the council, on the boardand outside of the board, and
on some special projects and that kindof stuff is we can always use.
We can always use volunteers at thegun show at special events, and they're
(33:23):
some and the gun shows are fun, the special events are fun. Outreach,
some training, we train, wetrain legislators, we train school teacher,
school employees, train the media, and we train all these sorts of
groups like that. And we're alwayslooking for whether you're an instructor or range
safety officer, Uh, just somebodythat is wants to be more involved in
(33:45):
Second Amendment right here in Utah makingit better and better. We can use
you up at the Capitol. Andin fact, I've got to get back
with a couple people who contacted usat Utah Shooting Sports Council dot org and
have offered their distance. Uh,if you're in the legal field, could
certainly use your help as well, you know, reviewing different things and that.
(34:08):
So Utah Shooting Sports Council dot Org. Don't expect to make a lot
of money. These positions are allvolunteer now. I mean, if you
end up doing an expenditure, I'msure that we'll cover that. But this
is a this is a labor oflove, so to speak. All Right,
(34:28):
So apparently you know TSA. TSAsays you're not supposed to bring your
guns and your ammunition in your checkedbaggage or excuse me, in your carry
on baggage. It's a it's ano boyo to carry guns and ammo or
weapons of any kind. In yourcarry on bags and and they catch people.
(34:52):
Hey, I may or may nothave been caught before with with ammunition
and got off easy, I think. So it was just errand. But
apparently there was a well we heardabout the Turks and Caicos Island, the
(35:13):
people that went through US airports everyall over the country with ammunition a few
errant rounds, no guns, afew errant rounds in their carry on bags,
and was made it through, madeit all the way through into the
islands, and then when they wereleaving again with the same bag, they
(35:35):
got caught and put in and putin jail. And technically looking at what
was it ten years, two yearssomething, some long period of time,
I want to say, ten ortwelve years, they've all I think been
let go with you know, heftyfines and don't ever do that again.
But uh so, so the questionwas asked, how did all these people
make it through their through TSA,thank you mark through TSA and you know,
(36:05):
all the way through there. Well, so they did, they did.
Some The agency TSA Transportation Security Administrationsaid it was launching an investigation into
each individual incident. Back this isback in May, after admitting that an
oversight had occurred. So two monthslater, here we are, first week
(36:25):
in July. The TSA tells, this is a story out of the Independent,
that the probe is now over andit concluded that it doesn't know how
the mL got past security in Americanairports. It just doesn't know, So
continue business as usual. It's nothingto see here. We don't know how
(36:50):
that happened or how it could havehappened. So it was it was interesting.
They as part of the investigation, they pulled the videotapes and all that
type of stuff. And there wasa Florida resident that went through the Orlando
airport on her way to Turkkekos andthat and her name was a Sharita Grier,
forty five years old, and wasarrested in the Islands after she carried
(37:15):
these two rounds through the Orlando airportin her hand luggage. And she recalls
that security staff in Florida confiscated herlotion but not the AMMO while they were
searching her bag. Anyway, allfolks will talk to you again next week.
Be careful out there, take somebodyout shooting, and clean up after
(37:36):
yourselves. Till next week.
