Rick Pearson is the political writer for the Chicago Tribune, a position he has held since September 1997. An award-winning journalist, Pearson has spent nearly three decades reporting on Illinois government and politics. He also has traveled the country as part of the Tribune’s presidential election coverage teams in the last three contests. He covered both of George W. Bush’s campaigns and the 2004 Democratic primary race. In 2007, Pearson was one of the first reporters to set up shop in Iowa for the leadoff caucuses and spent the next 18 months covering candidates in both parties, including a former state senator whom he began covering in Springfield in 1996 named Barack Obama....
