All right, welcome back to gun Talk. I'm Tom Gresham
and this is what we do here. We talk guns
at AMMO and accessories and self defense with guns and
anything else that you want to talk about because we
are totally open lines this hour. If there's something that
you want to bring up, something you want to talk about,
give me a shout. We can talk about it. The
numbers are there, easy to remember. Tom talk gun. That's
(00:38):
me Tom. We talk guns, Tom talk gun. So many
things to talk about, new guns, old guns, How story
your guns? What's going on in the Second Amendment world?
But you know you have questions and I will make
I mean, I have answers. Give me a holler. We'll
(00:58):
chat about it. Let's see uh Sean's online three at Littleton, Colorado.
Hey Sean, what you got there?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Hey Tom?
Speaker 4 (01:07):
I had I wanted to ask you what your take
is on this whole P three to twenty controversy because
I have like four of them, and they have never
had what their claiming is happening. I've never had a
negligent discharge without depressing the trigger. I have two M
(01:27):
eight teens that have safeties on them and they have
been completely reliable. So I wanted your opinion on that,
and then I have a range report.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Okay uh on the sig P three twenty controversy. And
for those who don't know, there have been several lawsuits
against sig saying that the sig P three twenty pistol
goes off on its own, un commanded, just goes off.
There been a number of cases in Gothic court, and
(01:59):
most of the cases it's been ruled that somebody actually
pulled the trigger. So if I shoved it into a holster,
got a piece of a shirt in there, got his
finger in there while he's putting the holster, was monkeying
with it somehow. At this point, I have to tell
you I don't know exactly what's going on. Clearly, you
(02:22):
got hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of these guns
out there and this rarely happens. But I I'm not
in a position to say it's never happened. I think
time will tell we'll get more information on this if
I and I don't know a P three twenty. If
I did, I wouldn't worry about it. I mean, if
you're asking, what's the deal? Your guns have been working
(02:45):
fine for you. My attitude has always been, you know,
if you don't pull the trigger, it won't go off,
and if you do, it will. And virtually every time,
for instance, that the cop shoots himself for herself, it's
because they pull the trigger, because they shoved the gun
into holster with a finger in the trigger guard and
goes bang. It does exactly what they told him to do.
(03:05):
So that's my take on all right, So I'm ready
now for your range report.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Okay, I have a Bravo Company government profile fourteen point
five inch barreled ar that I took to the range
yesterday and at fifty yards was shooting group the size
of a quarter. So I would say, if people are
(03:32):
interested in a high quality rifle that's as good as
Daniel Defense and accurate, but about five hundred dollars cheaper.
You can't go wrong with the Bravo Company.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
How long have you had that rifle.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
About a year and it's probably got about five hundred
rounds through it.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Okay, is there any have you tried it with a
different amm I'm wondering if you're seeing any difference different
types of.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Yes, And now you're leading me right to where I
was going. So with range dynamics, the Fiochi range dynamics
fifty five grain five five six, I was getting a
little bit bigger of a group, but not much. But
when I put Hornaby Frontier fifty five grain, basically it's
(04:22):
all M one three NATO. That's what I was shooting yesterday,
and I couldn't be happier with the group I got
at fifty yards. So I've shot Winchester in it with
about the same.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
The same same.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Caliber, bullet weight, everything with Winchester and got about the same,
maybe a little bit bigger group than the Hornady Frontier,
but the Fiochi is a little less accurate. But all
in all, I couldn't be happier with it.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Well, I mean, clearly you've got a really the accurate rifle.
And it is interesting for anybody's thinking about this. If
you try a different AMMO, you're liable to get some
different levels of accuracy and you may find something just
works really well in your rifle. So what is your
plan for this rifle? Is this a hunting rig, competition rig,
just a fun plinking rig home defense? What are we talking?
Speaker 4 (05:21):
It's a fun plinking rig and a home defense rifle.
I really have been sold on Bravo company the last
seven or eight years, and I've got about six of them,
So I can't be happier because I think they quality
control the living spot out of their guns. I think
(05:42):
you're getting quality big time, and it's as good, it's
not better, in my opinion than Daniel Defense, which a
lot of people think is the holy grail.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Of the ar. Well, there are a lot of really
good ars out there. Now. There's a time when everything
was fairly said, a little rough, and now there are
you know, yes, you have your daily defenses and you
got some up at that level, but some of the
less expensive ones. These companies are putting a lot of
effort into making them really shoot. So another question for you,
(06:14):
do you have a suppressor?
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I don't yet, but I've been looking to get one
and I'm kind of I'm kind of on the wait
and see with this whole NFA deal, and it definitely
will get one if they deregulate it. But I'm not
whold of my breath. But yes, I'm completely intrigued. And
after thinking about.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
It, tell me, why why are you waiting? Is it
the two hundred dollars or is it the registration?
Speaker 4 (06:46):
I think it's both. I have a hard time given
the government any kind of money, unfortunately, but yeah, I
think it's.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
A little bit of both.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
I get it. I get it. Yeah, living in.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
Colorado, who knows how long I'll be able to get
one anyway, So I guess I might want to act.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Well, but think about it this way. It's two hundred
dollars and that's not nothing. Okay, I get that. But
at the same time, if you say, okay, I've gone
two years or three years or four years, and I
could have had that can, and I could have been
enjoying it all because I wouldn't spend the two hundred dollars.
I'll go out and spend fifteen hundred dollars on a rifle.
(07:26):
But I'm sitting there year after year. So now we
have advertized that that would have been fifty bucks a year.
Whatever it is. I'm just saying, there may be another
way to look at this. And now that the wait
times are like under a week. It's crazy how short
they are for two hundred bucks. And if you do
some shopping like a Silence or Central, a lot of
times they will actually cover the cost of the can
(07:47):
for you. It's crazy. Sometimes they'll pick up the cost
of the tax stamp. So I would just encourage you
to take a fresh look at it. Okay, what was
the name of that silencer central? Silencercentral dot com. They
make it easy, easy, You do the whole thing online
and they send the can to your house.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Okay, now I have one more question. Will they work
with a two flash fighters or do I need to
change the muzzle device?
Speaker 2 (08:17):
You need to talk to the people outside are Essentral
about which adapter you want to use and what they have,
because they have the whole thing. I've used them several
times and each time it's been amazing how easy it
is and how knowledgeable their people are. You get them
on the phone, they talk you through the process and
it's just all done. So yeah, call sidnes Estential, go
(08:40):
online Scienceistential dot com.
Speaker 5 (08:42):

love to have your call. Scott called in out of Knoxville,
(12:00):
saw Scott, what's up?
Speaker 9 (12:05):
Well, Hey Tom, I just wanted to start by echoing
real briefly that earlier advertisement promo about the guy who'd
been listening to you for twenty years and like I, sir,
into the nineties, latter nineties, and really enjoy your show
and really look forward to it every Sunday. So thank
you very much.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Cool, Well, thank you. I appreciate you hanging with me
this long. You've been putting up with me for a
long time.
Speaker 9 (12:30):
It's been a pleasure, sir. Thank you. We appreciate you
so much. From the comprehensive perspective of the laws and
what's new and you know, just good times with guns
and et cetera, what I wanted to talk about. I
understand one would rationally think that federal law would apply
to all post offices property. But at Arkansas, if you
(12:55):
get your concealed carry and then which renews every five years,
if you go to a separate special class called the
enhanced class, and that's only you only have to take
that once and that that is good for life and
automatically renews on your considered cary license. When you renew
(13:15):
it every five years, you will get a special marked
physical license that you carry all cats read Enhanced and
that one of the provisions of that is it allows
you to carry concealed in a US post office in
the state of Arkansas. So I thought, this is the case.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
That's not making any sense to me. And you're right.
I mean, if I'm thinking, okay, federal, if the Feds
say you can't carry in a post office, how does
Arkansas overrule that?
Speaker 5 (13:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (13:55):
I had I asked the same question in my mind.
I don't know, like three hundred times that's federal property
and this is a state, and how can they do that?
Just to ramble just a split second or two here,
it also allows you to carry that classification in hospitals
unless they're marked, private universities unless they are marked, but
(14:16):
all public universities they can't be marked.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah, tru So yeah, yeah, well.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
Yeah, yeah, that's very quick.
Speaker 9 (14:27):
Was you know, how how how can you do that
with a state issue document? And authorit on federal property.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
You know. Of course, one wonders, okay, is the Post
Office okay with that? Or are they going to say, well, yeah,
that's fine, they told you that, but it's actually not
true and now you're being charged. So I would want
to get a wee bit more information before I got
a little cavalier about that. I mean, I love the idea. Uh,
it would be better if post office got rid of
(14:55):
their gun band anyway, but you know, until nonetheless, at
least you've got to wa around it. So that's fascinating.
I got to find out more about that. Hey, Scott,
I appreciate you bringing that up, and you know, this
is what we're all doing. Look, thank you for the call.
This is what we do. We help each other out.
Like I describe it, we're all just sitting around the
big digital campfire here and swapping stories and saying, oh no,
(15:18):
that's not right here. You can do this thing in Arkansas. Okay,
Well I didn't know that. Then that's kind of cool. Hey,
let's talk to Dale. He's in buildings Montana. Dale, thank
you for your patience. What's going on? Hey, Day? Are
you there?
Speaker 9 (15:35):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Okay, yes, I am here. We're talking about Remington Nylon
sixty six. My brother bought one back in the late fifties,
and he was quite skeptical of it, but he was
guaranteed that if the stock brooke, it had a permanent
(15:57):
lifetime replacement. Okay, and lo and behold in. Like in
nineteen sixty five, I broke the stock on it. I
took it. I took it to the gunsmith and he said, well,
we can send this in and they'll send you a
(16:18):
new one. Well, I was kind of skeptical of the
price on it whatever, but what he said happened. We
just sent the old broken one in and Remonton sent
me a new one, no cost, no charge.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
And I mean, and that's terrific. On the problem is
there's no Remington anymore. The company went out of business.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Okay, then brown Ale made have an idea where the parts.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Could be right right. And that's the problem is that
Remington actually didn't go out of business. There's a company
called rim Arms, And look, I appreciate the call because
that's an interesting look back. But and if Remidon was
still around, we might be able to take advantage of that.
But Remington's sold out and there's a company called rim
Arms that makes, if you will with quotes around remiton
(17:17):
guns now and then of course Rimiton Ammunition split off
and it's not owned by Remington anymore. Actually, let's see
Remington part of Federal, which is now part of the
c Z Group or Czech CSG group, I think it's called.
It's a check firm that bought all of those ammo companies.
(17:37):
So yeah, there's really no Remington to send it back
to these days, unfortunately, But yeah, and you can. There
are some private stock makers, but they're I don't know
if they could do that in the plastic. For those
who don't know, the remionton Nyline sixty six was revolutionary.
We're talking half a century ago. One of, if not
(18:00):
the first popular firearm made with a plastic or plastic
type stock. Sent me automatic twenty two space age looking.
I called it the jets and gun, and it was cool.
I mean, it worked. And they had a guy, darn
I can't remember his name, wasn't Tom knappis somebody else
(18:21):
who would throw up these two inch cubes of wood
and shoot him out of the air and do it
over and over again. Like I'm talking tens of thousands
of them set records using a room to nylon sixty six.
It came in a lot of different versions, and he
was one of those that at the time, it was
the go to twenty two rifle. It's the one that
(18:43):
everybody wanted, virtually indestructible plastic or a nilon. They call
it nilon. I guess it was nylon reinforced stock. And
if you have one today, you got kind of a
piece of history. There were just a lot of people
who love those things. We had one, but I didn't
shoot it a lot, so I don't really have any
(19:06):
great memories with it, other than the fact that it
was just cool looking and generally it just worked. Hey,
let's be up, Johnny. We've got a couple of minutes
left here out of dear Barry, Texas. Hey, Johnny, thanks
for calling in. I think you got a way for
help somebody here.
Speaker 10 (19:22):
Yes, go ahead. I was calling in. I just wanted
to make a remark. A couple of hours ago, I
was listened.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
To your show and I heard the gentleman calling in
ask you a question, what kind of rifle shotgun? To
get his son for killing deer? And my grandson is
eleven years old and he has a Legend three point fifty.
My son is a police.
Speaker 10 (19:44):
Officer, and he modified it for the scope on it,
and he can't heed anything with it.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Now, say it's a Legend three point fifty, which action
is it?
Speaker 10 (19:57):
It's a semi.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
It's a semi auto. Okay, yes, uh huh, very good.
Well do you know why did he go with a
three point fifty?
Speaker 10 (20:09):
It's easy for him to shoot, it doesn't kick that much.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
It's very accurate.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
I'll be darn well, I mean it would. I I'm
just trying to think if there's any particular reason to
go with that or go with something else. But you know,
it'll work. It works just fine. I'm sure it'll drop
a deer in a heartbeat.
Speaker 10 (20:31):
Yes, he got eight points this year.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Well that is great, terrific. Yeah. And there's a lot
of different versions of guns that are chambered for the
Legend three fifty cartridge. So there you go. Hey, good idea.
And not a lot of recoil in that also, which
is another factor there. So I appreciate the call. Yeah,
you can find I'm just looking here, lots of bolt actions,
a lot of different types of rifles chamber for that.
(20:55):
Here's a question, does that qualify as a big boar
or a medium boar? It's a threty five Aliber thirty
five way and thirty five Remington three fifty legend. Now
it wouldn't be my choice if you're going to be
shooting three or four hundred yards, but probably what would
you say inside two hundred yards two fifty? Yeah, it
(21:17):
sure work just fine for that shouldn't be a problem
trying to think. I had a buddy who had a
Marlin three thirty six chamber for the thirty five Remington,
and he was incredibly deadly. Tom Ford man. He was
(21:37):
a good hunter and he got deer left and right
with that thing just flatt knew how to hunt and
knew how to use that lever action in thirty five Remington.
I'll never forget that guy. I mean, he was just,
you know, and I'm tinking around with all these different
guns and he just got his one rifle and he's
bringing in deer with it, and it's like, yeah, you know,
what do they say that that old he'll beware of
(21:59):
the man with the only one gun because he probably
knows how to use it. Well, that was Tom He
flat and knew what he was doing with that thing.
So there are a lot of cool choices out there,
and of course a lot of people are really discovering
again the thirty five Whalen not a bad caliber too.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
By the way, I am really enjoying our new bumper
music our ins and outs that Jim put together with
some of his musician friends. He's got some really talented people,
and I appreciate you guys what you did there. Cool
stuff there. Our number here, by the way, is eight
sixty six. Talk gun if you want to join us.
I just got a text from my buddy Clark, a
potion who's a farm's instructor in Utah, because we had
(22:48):
the call earlier from the guy in Arkansas who says,
you know, if you've got an enhanced carry PERMI in Arkansas,
you can carry in post offices. And first I ever
heard of that, And my little alarm bells are going
off my head and Clark writes me and says, hey,
from my Arkansas conceal carry instructor from Arkansas Enhanced conceal
(23:08):
carry exemptions. While an enhanced conceal Carry permit allows you
to carry in certain sensitive places in Arkansas, including publicly
owned buildings and facilities. This exemption does not apply to
federal locations like post offices. That makes more sense. So
(23:32):
to our caller who is saying that his carry permit
allows him to carry into post offices, I don't think
it does, and I would be very careful about that.
One of the things I have learned is that some
people who teach conceal carry classes and seal carry instructors
(23:53):
are really not very good. They're really not very knowledgeable,
and they really do spread misinformation. And here's the problem.
If your conceal carry class was the first class of
its type you've ever taken. In education, they call it
(24:15):
the law of primacy, that which you learn first sticks
with you. People will say, you know, well, my instructor,
it's an interesting way of putting things. Not the instructor
of our class, my conceal carry instructor, you know, my trainer. Okay,
I kind of get what's going on there, but you
(24:37):
tend to absorb that and believe it's true because you're
impressed with instructor. It's the first class you've take it.
Whatever whatever's going on here, Can I just say that
apply a grain of salt with everything and whatever they're
telling you in class, verify it by looking up the regulations.
(24:58):
And in this case, if you're in Arkansas, I would
be extremely skeptical about somebody telling me that are telling
you rather that your enhanced carry permit allows you to
carry in federal post offices. I think if you check
on it again, you're going to find it's not true.
(25:20):
So just just saying, hey, look, your first class, whatever
it is, may be really good, and your instructor may
be really good. One of the problems is that you
don't know because you have no basis for comparison. And
I don't care if you're going to your concealed carry
class or a real defensive class or whatever it is.
(25:44):
And you've heard me say this before, and I understand
it's time and money and I get all of that,
but you need to go to another class somewhere else
with somebody else. At that point you can start comparing oh, okay,
well that makes sense, or that thing that I learned
the first time that didn't make any sense, or that
was he actually didn't know how to teach, and oh yeah,
by the way, if you have an instructor teaching you shooting,
(26:06):
that person should shoot, and that person should be able
to shoot really well. And if he is, he or
she can't shoot well or chooses not to shoot in
front of you, I would be very skeptical about that
person's ability to teach you how to shoot, because if
(26:28):
that person can't do it himself or herself, why would
you listen to them? Why would you think they know
what they're doing when they're teaching you stuff? And look,
I get it, it's all new to you. It's all
filling this big empty space where you don't have any
knowledge in this world of whether it's special shooting, ar
or self defense, moving and shooting, et cetera, all the
(26:50):
rest of it, and all sounds reasonable. You don't have
anything to offset it. That's why I say you need
to take multiple classes. Go to different place. If you've
been to gunsite, go to thunder Rants, if you've been
to Range Ready Studios our place, go to gunsite, go
to some other place, go to Sick Academy, goes somewhere,
(27:11):
get a different perspective, and maybe you've got really good
local people. Here's the question. I guess This is I
guess the important question, the really critical question. How would
you know if your instructor is any good? Not oh wow,
he was impressive. That's not the criteria. All that means
(27:34):
is you were impressed with the instructor and you don't
have a basis for comparison. So I returned to the
question of how would you know if your instructor was good?
I think the only way to know that is to
do a comparison with another or other instructors. Just throwing
(27:58):
it out for your thought. You may have an idea
on this. If you have taken multiple classes, let me
invite you to call in because did the second or
third class at a different place show you or teach
you anything about the first place you went? Did it
open your eyes to maybe some shortcomings? Let's put it
(28:19):
kindly with the first class you took. And also, have
you ever seen or heard an instructor of a caceial
carry class do something or say something that gave you concern?
Our number year is eight six y six Talk gun

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Hey, I've been hoping we would get a range report
from that class. We just did our range ready with
the Jacob Gray folks, making that delightful. Kind of expensive.
Actually it's kind of a mid level if you will
double stack nineteen eleven because now they go up to
six and eight thousand dollars and this was a three
thousand dollars pistol. Here. Larry just called in out of
Pennsylvania with his range report. Hey, Larry's good to hear
(31:19):
from you, man. I enjoyed sharing time with you the class.
Speaker 5 (31:23):
Hey, Tom, good to hear from you too. It was
a great class. I just wanted to add I can't
listen to the show lines. I don't know if you
had anyone else on, but I just wanted to add
whatever other comments to those it was a great experience.
I went both for the gun and for the instruction,
And while I loved the gun, I thought the instruction
(31:46):
was the most valuable part of the experience. Plus it
was a whole lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Well, now was that the opposite? Did you think you
were going to end up thinking the gun was the
best part of the experience.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
I didn't really know what to expect. I was looking
forward to both. I'd been looking at Doublestack nineteen eleven's
and I was thinking about getting one, and I saw this,
you know, as always when I listened to the show,
I ended up spending money on something, but this sounded
like a worthwhile way to spend it. And the gun
was great, But I didn't know what to expect from
(32:22):
the training. But it was superb.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
And we did have issues, and we shared a hist acknowledge, Larry,
we did have and the company acknowledges. We had issues
with the pistols because we had a combination of a
magazine that wasn't working as well as it should, an
AMMO that had probably a little bit more lubricity using
that shock tech ammo that was different, and we had
a lot of rounds popping out of the mags, and
(32:50):
we got to practice on malfunction drills a lot with
stove pipes. And then we had a couple or three
several guns that had a broken slidestop and they're taking
all those back and fixed them. So we had the
full gun writer experience of guns that weren't running as
well as we hope they would.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Yes, I agree. When when the gun was shooting, which
was both of the time, I mean it was, it
was amazingly accurate and the action was so smooth. It
was it's a great gun. And they promised to make
these issues right. And I think that, you know, with
(33:28):
three new magazines from a different manufacturer and replacement of
the broken slidestops, I don't think that will be an issue.
I mean, this was not something I was planning to
use as a carry gun, but you know, I think
for just having a lot of fun shooting, it's it's
a great, great pistol.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Let me ask you something, Larry, because I described this
after the class and we had the Tragy con RMR
on there, and this gun is so accurate and the
trigger is so good. After a while, I actually got
bored at one point where we're doing drills and we're
shooting your center mass shots, and I started just taking
head shots, even though that's not what instructors said to do.
(34:10):
And it was ridiculously easy to put all the shots
in like a three by five inch rectangle for head
shots from fifteen yards backers. It's like, oh, yeah, we
can do this.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
Yes, the gun certainly made me a better shooter. I
found the same thing on drills where you're just shooting
without without any pressure of time and not moving or anything.
It was easy just to keep throwing the bullets at
the same spot shot after shot, and you know, the
gun just doesn't move. There's there's very little recoil, comes
(34:48):
right on target.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Okay, gotta ask you. Isn't Chris Sarno a hoot?
Speaker 5 (34:55):
Oh he's hilarious. I was shooting yesterday and then in
my head I could hear him telling me things, some
of which are not repeatable on the air.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Yes, yes, it's like you said. One of the guys
he taught ended up being in a gunfight and said,
in the middle of the gunfight, he says he could
hear Christ's voice in his head saying, Hey, Dommy, how
about just looking at the sights, impressing the trigger.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
Yeah, that's one of them.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yeah, he is a I've called him a savant that
he is. I mean, the man simply knows how to
teach you how to shoot, and you will be a
better shooter.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
Yes, I just have to keep practicing what he taught
and I have no doubt that I'll be a better shooter.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Well, I guess the bottom line is, did you have fun?
Speaker 5 (35:47):
Absolutely? It was a great time the whole time. Everything
about it, just sitting around between, you know, between sessions,
talking to different people was fun. Talking to the the
reps was fun. And sampling, sampling that ammo is interesting.
I went out, I went right on the web the
(36:09):
night after the experience and ordered a bunch of AMMO
from them. I like that so much.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
And yeah, yeah, that's impressive Ammo. It's been. It's accurate,
Holy cow.
Speaker 5 (36:24):
And the other thing is their their defense Ammo. It's
so light. If you load that up, it feels like
your magazine's empty.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Does it feels like you got an empty gun? It's
that Ammo is still light, but it's lower. It's lighter bullets,
and they go really fast. They're very good.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Yeah, yeah, and I can tell you from shooting a
few on the indoor range yesterday, they make a lot
a big flash and a lot of noise.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Well that's a good thing. Everybody's attention that way. Hey, Larry,
Like I say, enjoyed meeting you there, and I didn't
know you were going to be calling them, but I
appreciate your calling with the range report. Always good to
get these other their perspectives from these classes too.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
Yeah, yeah, it was a lot of fun. I hope
to come back again sometime. Hopefully they're not too distant future.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Good did well? Keep watching get on the mailing list
because of course the email list goes out and that's
how we find out about the new classes there arranged ready,
Thanks Larry. I appreciate the call, sir, uh Jim. Do
we have time to get don? And all right, let's
get done in here out of Royce City, Texas. Don
don't have a lot of time, but please jump in.
Speaker 15 (37:33):
Okay, you had a guy talking about it. He was
transporting guns. Best thing I found is it's a Master
solid steel trigger lock, and all my guns have these
trigger locks on them. And another item if you're are
transporting bolt action rifles, I say, take the bolt action out,
(37:58):
put it in a separate steel container when either shipping
or even on your personal property.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Okay, good, look, I appreciate the call. Let me just
jump in on that. Here's the deal. The Fires Owners
Protection Act federal law says you are legal to carry
your guns across state lines if they are in a
hard case, locked case. Trigger lock doesn't do it, Removing
a boat doesn't do it. It needs to be in a
hard case that's locked. That's how you can legally transport
(38:32):
your guns from state to state. That's why when people
ask me I recommend your notice, I always say hard
case that's locked. There are other ways to make a
gun inoperable, but that's not what we're talking about here.
We're talking about how do I go from state to
state and I am legal? Now. One of the things
is to know is that there are some states that
don't actually honor the federal law on this, New York
(38:56):
Massachusetts being notables on that. So my I don't go
to those states. That's how I operate. Hey, it's going
to be part of the Aftershi'll call me right now,
(39:18):
Tom talk done. We can get you in there as well.
Several things out of the news. Let's see judge rules
that the NRA fraud case can go forward. This is
members suing Lapierre and others for misuse of funds, basically
taking our membership dues and using them to pay for
(39:39):
private flights millions of dollars millions of dollars of wasted money.
So it's not just a case of we kicked them out.
It's a case of let's get our money back that
you use. So that's interesting. Let's see here the White
House sends out this press release. Let's see, twenty year
old citizen of Honduras has been arrested and charged stolen
(40:07):
forty guns. Stole forty guns from a pawnshop in Tennessee.
When they arrested him, he had the guns in his car,
still had the price tags on them. It was a
smash and grab job where they went and ran into
the front door of the pawn shop and stole the guns. So, yeah,
there you go, illegal alien stealing guns. Who would have
(40:29):
thought that, right? Oh yeah, did you see the deal
where Senator Corey Booker's staffer took a gun illegally into
the Capitol building. Yeah. Corey Booker, who of course pushes
for gun bands and gun control and his staffer, former cop.
I guess he thought he was entitled. But evidently a
(40:49):
member of Congress. Maybe the Senator himself helped this guy
go around the metal detectors the security system so he
could illegally carry a gun into the Capitol. Man, same old,
same old, right, And let's see. Of course, the Mom's
Demand group is trying to make sure that Florida doesn't
(41:12):
allow legal adults to buy guns. They want to keep
that restriction to twenty one or older on the ages.
But you know, you're a legal adult at eighteen, and
you should get all the rights that come with being
a legal adult citizen of the United States even though
you're eighteen. So there you go. And then in California
(41:35):
didn't no surprise at all. The head of global security
for Apple is found not guilty in bribing to try
to get conceal carry permits. It just happened, not connected
at all, that they donated seventy thousand dollars worth of
Apple iPads, maybe in exchange for a really difficult to
(41:59):
get coscill carry permit for members of the company's security team.
But the court in California said no, no, no, no,
that's not what they did. It wasn't a quid pro
quote deal. They weren't really giving them seventy thousand dollars
in hihpads and then suddenly they're able to get Constell
carry permits that nobody else can get. Yeah, I'm sure
(42:20):
it didn't happen that way at all. Jeez. All right,
takeaways for the week. Go take a class somewhere and
then go take another class somewhere else. Otherwise, my point being,
how do you know if your first class was any good?
Interesting question? We I Actually we'll pick this up on
the after show because the reality is that some concal
(42:41):
Carr instructors are simply not very good. Some of them
are really good. Some of them are in it only
to churn and make money out of it. They don't
work at it, and that's unfortunate. The problem is, if
it's your first class of that type, you just don't know.
We actually had one locally where the Seal Carr instructor
(43:02):
was flagging the class, pointing his gun at the class
after he had showed them that it was loaded. Yeah,
we're a couple of the students were friends of mine.
They spoke up, put a stop to that. We'll talk
about that as well during the after show. Don't forget
to check out the after show anywhere you get your podcasts, Spotify. Heck,
(43:22):
gun Talk is now on Spotify. You get it that
way as well. In the meantime, go out and do
a little shooting this week. Maybe buy a new gun,
certainly buy some AMMO. Prices are liable to go up
and never know what's going to happen, but buying regularly
is always a good thing.
