Speaker 1 (00:03):
So you've made it through three hours of the regular
show on terrestrial radio, and you wanted a little bit more.
So that's why you found the gun Talk After Show podcast,
where we saved all the best things that we can't
say on regular radio. Now here's Tom, Michelle and Jim
for the gun Talk After Show.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Gets After Showtime Got Jim Canthy, Michelle Cleland, Hello, my friends.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Hello, Hello, Hello.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
It is June seven, day after D Day celebration. I
watched a couple of movies last night because to me,
that is probably one of the pivotal points in the
history of the United States, is D Day. It's always good.
In The Longest Day maybe my favorite D Day movie,
(00:46):
And they just like rounded up all the best actors
in Hollywood at the time, and everybody from John Wayne
on down. It's an amazing accumulation of great actors and
a really good story written by Cornelius Ryan, who was
a friend of the family.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
By the way, look at your little connection.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, Connie right. He wrote A Bridge Too Far in
the Longest Day, a pretty good stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
I thought you're gonna say The Longest Yard. I'm like,
I like that movie too.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
That's about how far I shoot just the longest yard,
oh man, but not anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
No, and what an exciting time with this, I mean,
completely new technology of this m O and oh you'll
love this. I mean it's can't really do it on
radio that well. But somebody, you know how people always
miss spelling creed More. It's c r e E D
m o o R. Somebody said, yeah, but now it's
actually more. Okay, that's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
I like it. It's funny a little.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
They didn't have enough insight when they did the spelling
of it.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Huh right, right, Uh. We've got actually a video of
Ryan shooting it. We got one box of AMMO and
it was demo pre production all of that. But he
was getting with uh I think it was eighteen inch barrel,
one hundred and thirty green bullets getting three thousand feet
per second. And then he had some regular creed More
(02:20):
but all they had was one hundred and forty grain,
so it wasn't exactly the same, but they were getting
a little under twenty five hundred, so about five hundred
feet per second difference.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Wow, I know.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So they probably won't be using it for any upcoming
hunts or anything like that. It's not probably not worth while.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Right, well, and we'll see because they when they say
August one is when they feel like they'll be shipping,
So okay, just in time for hunting season. But I
just think it's really exciting.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Gives you an unfair advantage over those poor critters.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yes, yes, we're going to because we're going to make
them use standard AMMO.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
The problem will be you can't get enough of them,
or can't get enough Ammo or whatever the situation is.
There's always a panic right before hunting the season. Oh yeah,
the new calibers out.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
What I always really like is the people online as
soon as it's announced, so they come out with all
of their reasons why it's a bad idea.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
And they've never seen it a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Nobody needs this, YadA YadA YadA. It's gonna burn up barrels,
it's gonna blow up your guns, it's gonna you just like,
do you not think they have engineering departments who.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Have tested all this stuff and know all.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
The ship We never took that any considered pressure.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
Yeah, have you never thought about that?
Speaker 2 (03:40):
It's just it's like, really, you know, it's like people
are compelled to post something, even if they don't know
anything about it because they just have to weigh in
on it.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
It's ridiculous that stuff happens.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
That was all bactual, It's all true.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
Well, it's the Internet. It's got to be true.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
It's got to It's in black and white right in
front of you.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
Sometimes there you go, yes, I n read ye on
your screen exactly. All right.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
So Jim and you just had something happen in your
backyard there last night.
Speaker 5 (04:19):
You want to talk about that?
Speaker 3 (04:20):
No, I really don't know. It's a multi, multi pronged
process we have going on here in town. With slap
on the wrist, let them go. The cops don't even
want to arrest people anymore because they're just back out
on the streets. And we had twelve people shot at
a festival in town in Ohio, toled, Ohio, yep. And
(04:46):
twelve people were hit. Two are still in critical condition.
No suspects in custody. They had a lot of police
on site, but not necessarily in that area at that time,
and they're you know, hoping that the community. They've got
you know, video from people coming and going outside of it.
They have to try to figure out who was what,
(05:08):
when where, so there they're leafing through a lot of
stuff now.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
And this was a festival with just a lot of
regular people and families.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
This was not like some crazy rug for you.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Well, for years it was. And then I guess last year,
maybe a year before, they combined it with Pride Month
here in town. Yay. Yeah, and that I don't think
that had a tie in at all. But it was
more than just the West End folks residents. It was
an opportunity for other folks to gather and do their thing.
(05:39):
And there's there's no tie into that apparently. The reports
and I'm just telling you the stuff that I heard
the police chiefs say on the news. It's nothing inside
info or anything else. But there was an altercation on
Friday night with they believed the same two individuals, and
they came back and went at it again on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
They're from that area, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
So there, so they have an idea who it is. Yeah,
they're not saying that, and they're still asking for help,
so they're they're not positive. There's a lot a lot
of eyewitnesses, but a lot of eyewitnesses are reluctant to
turn over their video footage for some really yeah, so,
but it doesn't. You know, what's going to happen anyway
is historically the prosecutors and judges to slap them on
(06:26):
the wrist and they're out again. And you know, well
because of overcrowding and everything else. Okay, so raise our
taxes and keep these kids and or hold their parents
responsible for their actions. But they don't, and it just
goes on and on and on.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
I think when somebody does something like that, it's really
good to impose no gun prescription on them so that
they can't have guns. And the best way to do
that is to put them into prison so they can't
have guns.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Huh. Yeah, but you know, what they were raised is tough,
tough childhood growing up, and every sob story there is
just it gets old. And I was talking to show
about it, and I hate to say it this way,
but oh and then after that, after that, that was
a five point thirty seven in the PM, and then
around ten o'clock a hundred of young folks took over
(07:18):
a downtown.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Club and just to takeover things.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yeah, so two in one night, two big deals in
one night.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
And I'm thinking, somebody's going to get.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Killed, is what's going to happen. If they don't prosecute
and make these people do time, somebody's going to get killed,
justifiably or not. They're going to get shot, they're going
to get taken out. And then they say, oh, now
we have a problem. We better look at it.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
From a personal protection standpoint, I was thinking about this.
You got these takeovers, and you might explain what those
are for people, and maybe people haven't paid a lot
of attentions.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
Or don't know that term.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah, well they're loosely organized, usually on Facebook or you know,
TikTok whatever. They're loosely organized events. So they say, okay,
ten o'clock, everybody need at X y Z and they've
got two security guards, but there'll be one hundred of us,
so we can just just walk right over. And they do.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Generally ten agers, young people. Uh yeah, mom mobbed the place. Yeah,
and they just mobbed the place and take over. And
often it ends up going evolving into a lot of fights,
a lot of destruction of property, maybe fire set that
kind of thing.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
So I'm just thinking, it's a mini riot, is what
it is.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yeah, it's an organized, an online organized mini riot. If
for a personal standpoint, personal protection obviously carried a gun
is a good idea, but I think you need something
in addition to that.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
And normally I.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Would say, well, pepper spray is good, but pepper spray
is good for one or two people. I'm just thinking
that you know a small backpack that you carry everywhere
that has a great big can of bear spray in
addition to you know, your firearm, But I just you
know a big can where you can essentially hosed down
(09:00):
the people around you to get out, just so you
could extricate yourself from a situation.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Like that, right, well, yeah, yeah, yeah, as far as
self protection, yeah, as far as to get this prevent
this from continuing to happen and grow and get worse,
there's much more stuffs that the.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Well, you have to elect the right people. I mean
that's where it begins and ends, because if you're not
doing that, you're not going to get anywhere. So you
have to get rid of the people who are not
getting it done, and you have to elect the right
people who will say we are going to arrest everyone,
and if we don't have room in the jail, we
will put up tents, and we will put up chain
(09:37):
link fences and that's just where you're going to stay.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
But you will be arrested.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
And when they say, well, they can't arrest us, all,
oh yeah, watch us.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
I bet we can arrest a lot of you.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Right, you bring in forty cops.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yeah, you bring in forty cops and surround the area.
You can just move that circle in tighter and tighter.
There are ways to do that.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Well. In the other side of this, too, is anytime
there's a police officer who takes a misstep or has
lousy communication with people citizens of the area. And this
is across the country. Everything is videoed, and oh yeah,
people are afraid it sometimes to do something because you know,
(10:22):
it's never in a good sight.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Well yeah, I mean, and they are arresting and charging
and sentencing police officers to jail.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yeah, I know they had some They had a little
bit of that take place at the festival. For some
of the videos I saw, this guy said, the cop
is telling me to leave the area, to leave the area,
and this guy wouldn't do it. It was a black cop
and a black guy witness that was there, and the
cops can move along. You know, you need to get
out of here. He says, you're just kicking me out
of here because I'm black. And he was a black,
(10:52):
black cop, right, And he said probably if they would
have sent a white cop over, it would have been
the exact same story. So does the skin color really
matter at all? The guy guy was in a dangerous
spot where shouldn't be and he was told to move and.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
The cops just saying you don't need to be here
because it's dangerous here.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Right, But that's racist? What a crack?
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Well, yeah, and it makes it difficult to be a cop,
and you frankly become a lot more reluctant to go
insert yourself into these situations because no way has you back.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Yeah, what's the incentive, Well, you make the arrest.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Yeah, go all the way back to you got to arrest,
correct it, You go all the way back to You've
got to elect the right people and then they will
back their cops and then you will have it affective
police force. Uh, you know, you can't do any of
this if you are not electing the right people. You
got to throw out the bums who are allowing this
(11:45):
to happen. And if the people won't do that, then
people are going to get what they.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Get, right, And The problem is that it affects the
Toledo area, not just the city of Toledo and city
judges and prosecutors and stuff. It involves a whole area.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
So well, there you go. I am really sorry. I
going to know that a number of people got shot.
Some of them are severely hurt, so prayers for all
of them and their families. It's just such a mess,
but just one of those you gotta be careful, be alert.
And you know, I wish we didn't have to do this.
(12:21):
I wish we didn't have to worry about all this
kind of stuff. But wishing is just kind of a
silly idea, it is, and you can't pretend it's not
this way. So yeah, I carry gauze with me, I
carry you turning it with me. I carry a handgun
and extra magazines with me smart just because there you go.
(12:42):
All right, tell you what, take a quick break. When
we come back. Let's talk a little bit more fun
stuff like guns and AMMO and high velocity.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Oh and the adoption process for Michelle and I. We'll
be right back.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
From the range to the field. CZ firearms are built
to perform when it counts. Known for accuracy, durability and Reliability.
C Z stands apart CZ built for those who demand
more CZ Firearms dot com.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
I wouldn't mind the two fifty seven robbers. I think
I could handle it.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
I can learn how to shoot left handed right.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
So we're here auditioning to be adopted by me. Now,
that's what we're going on here.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
You're doing the right thing by giving away stuff while
you're still around. We're just figured, you know, we'll make
this legal so much.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
Shut the line forms right here. Huh yeah, why not.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
I've got number one on the delisle on the deli
number a full off tap, try.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
To take a number, take a number.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
I love it?
Speaker 5 (13:52):
Oh god.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Yeah, well, you know one of my problems. Both of
our granddaughters, Ryan's girls she left handed and Mom's rifle
is right handed. But I think they can handle it, okay,
I mean we got to keep it in the family.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Anyway, Absolutely well. And I think that stuff is important,
and you know, we talk about it all the time.
But obviously the fact that you can make a video
even if you share a story with a teenager now
and they may be very mindful of it at the moment,
but unless it gets revisited over and over and over again.
(14:28):
It doesn't become part of their memory or part of
their story, even if they are to inherit.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
The gun at some point their version interpretation.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Yeah, yeah, so I think you know, when it's handed
down with the rifle and yeah, you can share the
story right then. Sometimes just the act of giving the
rifle makes it set in. But you know, the more
factual the better.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Yeah, And I like the idea of the old school,
either physically writing it mm hmm, or if you're going
to be a little more high tached, just put on
a thumb drive and keep it in the guns particular case,
so it's always with the gun, right they'd have the
video story there.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Oh yeah, you could record a video and then put
it on a thumb drive they get with the gun.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Yeah, you know how many times have well I don't know,
maybe other people haven't, but you know, in your career
of guns and maybe gunsmithing and that type of thing,
you know, people have put old hunting licenses in the
stock you know, of their gun, or their Social Security
numbers on the side of the gun. I mean, whatever
(15:27):
it is, you know, identification purposes, and it might not
get handed down to a family member, and people don't
think about that often. So even though you think you're
crafty with putting that information in the stock, unless somebody knows, Yeah,
and it doesn't go anywhere unfortunately, or might not go
to the right person, you know, if they sell it
(15:50):
or whatever they do with it.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
But yeah, my son' zax and love the GT ten. Yeah,
he likes them all, but the GG ten is his gun,
and he's you know, coming on, we got to move
long dad, let's you know, let's make your pre prior reservations.
Let's get this thing moving. He's a funny kid. That'll
that'll be his a lot sooner than he thinks because
it's it's coming up here and he has no clue.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Oh that's cool. Yeah. GG ten was our first gun.
Talk gun.
Speaker 6 (16:15):
Hm.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
That was the the Kimber nineteen eleven and ten milmeter
beautiful grips and beautiful gun.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
Yeah. So yeah, that's really nice.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
Yeah, we've done three ten meters in I guess just
the one, yeah, just the one rifle.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
So don't know what's going to be next. There are
some cool things going on. I don't man, I tell you,
there's so much development going on. WEATHERB has a four
pound honey rifle. Four pounds. I mean, it's unbelievable how
they're shaving the weight off. Now you take that and say, okay,
well but what if we cut the barrel in half.
(16:57):
Say you had a twenty two inch barrel and you
went down to eleven or twelve inches and had similar velocities.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Holy cow, So now you just made the creed most.
Speaker 5 (17:10):
Okay, you win.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
You'll use that to you know you will.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
You should just consider that I havn't stolen.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Oh Lord Briant, all right, that's right.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Yeah, if you were getting paid anything, i'd say you
earned your painted day.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
I'm sorry. Oh well, just gave that one away there
from this.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
Sorry about that.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
So any any design ideas for the g T one
hundred yet time looking down the road?
Speaker 5 (17:45):
Yeah, the ray gun, Yeah, it would be like Star
Wars blaster.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Yeah, beat me up.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I have a feeling that's going to be sooner than
one hundred. That's going to be right.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Well, yeah, this thing is amazing.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
And the gain twist, a progressive twist, is really going
to be something. And that's an old technology that's probably
been around one hundred years.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Telling me your story show yes, it's great.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
I told Jim earlier somebody had sent a video to
my husband, was like, oh my gosh, this is so cool,
and he's like, I have a muzzleloader that hasn't gained
twisted it.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Yes, that new technology.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
You may be new for some people, but for some
it's not new.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
That's funny.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yeah, I mean it's pretty much true. If you've been
around this for a while, you realize that all the
new things somebody probably did it fifty or even one
hundred and fifty years ago.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Right, And part of it is you've not heard it
referred to before. No, it's been there, but nobody's talked
about the fact that it's.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Gain I've heard the variable twist, yeah, you know, which
is the same thing. It starts off so started starting.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Out real slow and then just the twist spins up
and spins the bullet faster and faster as it goes
down the barrel.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
What happens when you go across the other side of
the country though, I wondered if that was the bearable part.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Okay, in Australia, do they turn the other direction?
Speaker 5 (19:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Well, would Chubby Checker have to say about this, let's
twist again?
Speaker 5 (19:25):
I see where you're going there. I pick up on that.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
We're dating ourselves. Nobody else will date it.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
Nobody else will, but.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
No, it is. It is exciting. It's definitely gonna shake
some things up. And it's interesting in that the six
is such a great bullet to choose to improve up
on because the only thing that you can really do,
because it's fairly flat, The only thing you can do
is make it better faster, right, I mean.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Yeah, or it gets to you can't go too fast
otherwise it'll just just blow apart. I know, the twist
comes into pot. I mean, is it just is there
if even with the aga Okay.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
The performance isn't the bullet.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Now, you can blow up a bullet in the air,
that's what I mean, after it gets it.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Yeah, I mean we're doing that currently with some bullets.
You shoot him out of a or two twenty swift
and you'll actually see a little vapor in the bullet
won't hit the target at one hundred yards. It literally
adamizes and goes to pieces in the air before it
gets it.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Just the spin rate is too fast.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Oh, you got to use the right bullets, or I
want to switch to something I was when I talked
to Mike Mahowsky. I talked to him after we record
the interview and was talking to him about a truck gun.
He mentioned that on the air, But I'm really of
the opinion that a short barrel SBR or pistol uh
(20:58):
ar type gun with a can maybe the perfect truck gun.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
I'm kind of leaning in that direction, yep.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
And tell the reasons why.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Well, it's short so you can get it into a case,
so it doesn't look like a gun. It's short because
it's maneuverable. If you had to do something actually inside
of a vehicle, you could still do that. I do
as much as I like pistol caliber carbing ideas, I
do like the idea of a rifle caliber because it
is considerably more powerful. The only problem with that if
(21:31):
it's a five five six is that a eleven inch
barrel five five to six is unbelievably loud, and that's
where you really have to have a suppressor on. So
you put all those together and I'm thinking, I suppressed
super short barrel ar will be a pretty good truck
(21:54):
self defense gun.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
You thinking like three hundred or standard, I'm.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Kind of thinking five to five six instead of three
hundred bluckout.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Just for availability, and I don't know, I.
Speaker 5 (22:06):
Mean, I could be persuaded either way.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
And I'm going to have another follow up conversation with
Mike and probably a couple of other people who I
know who you are in that space to get their
thoughts on it.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Now, the advantage effective range wise, compare the two between
car being and a oh.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Yeah, well with a five five six, even with a
eleven to twelve inch barrel, you're you got a three
hundred dard rifle versus carbing with a yeah, one hundred
yards for a nine millimeter or a forty five or
even a ten milimeter pistol cali er carbing. So yeah,
it's considerably more powerful, hits harder, but also you got
(22:45):
real range. So that that idea that that we had
the caller who said you are one to six variable
scope party, you keep it on one for self defense situations,
and then in the rare but possible situation where you
actually had to shoot out at two n three hundred
yards at six power, you're good to go.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
Yeah, oh yeah, and definitely do the SBR over the
pistol because you get that little more length of the barrel,
which in the end gives you better results as well.
So steering away from the pistols.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Yeah, a little bit longer on the stock. So yeah,
so that can be vulnerable too, Yes, absolutely can be fallible.
The only downside to the SBR now you got to
do the paperwork. But that's easy and doesn't cost anything.
There are still rules about notifying ATF when you travel
(23:37):
out of state with SBR. Right, you don't have to
do that.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
With a pistol, okay, But.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
But ATF is talking about changing that rule and make
it so you don't have to do that notification. So
if that comes to pass, then that would really make
an SBR attractive.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
That pretty much steals the deal there.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
That there are some states where an SBR is not
legal and an AR pistol is.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yeah, it's stupid, but carry both and they say that's illegal.
May be so observed, this one isn't.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
What you do is you have quick replaced stocks. Put
an SBR stock on our pistol stock.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
What is it today? I don't know what do you
want it to be?
Speaker 1 (24:25):
What we in?
Speaker 5 (24:27):
That's right? Who stayed a confusion? That's where we are.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Anyway, I'll keep you posted I'm going to do some
more research on that, and headed down to Louisiana. I'm
gonna spend the next week down at Rains ready, and
I'll see what they have in the vault there.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
That I can play with.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Let us know it's fine, right, yeah, other people's other
people's guns.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Let's go shoot them, right, all right, we'll travel safe,
my friend.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah, and you guys stay safe, you know, be aware,
be alert, and if it all worried about something, don't
go there.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Right.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Well, that's what I said to Jim. I'm like, you know,
the worst part is we're just at the start of
fears festivals, all these community activities, so.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
They already shut that one down and said they didn't
run it today. And there's a couple of ones talking
about cancering all together. And there was a shooting week
ago at another festival. At your time, you didn't know
about it.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Yeah, I understand, all right, yeah, you know, and if
you don't put them in prison, they keep doing it.
And if you put them in prison, they are not
going to be repeat offender, as simple as that same man.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
All right, we say, you guys, we'll catch you next
time for the gun talk. After show,
