in for Chris Broussard and ma'am. We're broadcasting live from
the tire Rack dot Com studio live.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
We will Bill, we'll do it live and.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Man, we got so much to do, so little time
again Trash Talk Tuesday. Chris is out carry Roads. Perfect
guy to come in to kind of mop up on
the Super Bowl and we'll talk some other stuff coming
up in the program, Eat from Salam. He'll join us
in about thirty minutes. At the bottom of the hour,
we'll get his take on some stuff old in Polonies,

(01:16):
the former NBA vet Fox Sports Radio NBA analyst. He
joins us an hour number two and our number three.
It's trolling or rolling with Martin Weiss, and that's coming
up in the third hour. But Kerry is broadcasting live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios in Sherman Oaks, California.
And I'm on the campus of USC where I teach

(01:40):
baseball writing.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Oh wow, how's that? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Oh yeah, And I'm here broadcasting from USC today. Carry
what's up, my man? How you man? I'm doing well?

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
When I was hearing the introduction, I was like, I'm
neither one of those guys, So I felt a little
taken aback. But you know what, I'm here, I'm in
the studio. I'm holding it down for Chris.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
And you know how it goes.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
Man.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
You know, I always love to be here with you
guys on the Odd Couple. It's a great time to
come out and talk some ball and talk life and
talk everything in between. So I'm excited to be here.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
No doubt.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Man, we will have absolutely fantastic show. First, let's welcome
in the Odd Couple crew, because we wouldn't be able
to do this fine radio program without him. Rob g
is out, Shay is our producer today, Alex of course
is our engineer as always, and I low Isaac Lohenkron

(02:36):
is at the anchor desk, and of course Elijah, our
social media guru, is manning the social media world. And yes,
I just want you to know my video about saying
that Kyle Shanahan should be.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Fired went crazy.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
You hear me, Carrie went crazy of course after the
super Bowl and another double digit choke job by Kyle Shanahan.
But let's start here because you know where I stand, carried,
I think he should be five. And I know people
go crazy, Oh.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
You get good super Bowl twice in the l four years. Yeah,
that's how they say. It doesn't sound That's what it
sounds like to me, Carrie when I'm hearing it.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
You know, But I say to myself, yes you can, Yes,
you can.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Carry.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Sometimes you take the unknown over the known. And what
I mean by that is what we know. Kyle Shanahan
is a choker. We know that you don't know who's
gonna come behind him. Oh you know, you can't get
who you're gonna replace him with, and they won't be

(03:50):
able to win the forty nine ers or at least
contenders every year with Kyle share he's a genius. Yeah,
that is too easy to stick with? What you know,
even though you know you won't get there. You know what, Rob,
I'll say this about you. You're you're consistent about that
that take. I mean I remember you saying something something

(04:11):
earlier about Dak Prescotten, right, like, we know what he is,
that's who he's been in the playoffs. He's not going
to get it done. Move on right, like you he
said that before.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
So I know that this isn't some like super super
hot take for you, but I'll say this, I Kyle
Sanenhan is.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
One of those guys.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
I he reminds me of of of Andy Reid. You know,
like Andy Reid had those moments where he kept making
it to the to the NFC championship game. He was winning,
he had success, and we were like, we don't know
if this guy can ever get it done. He got
to a point where he got the man at quarterback,
Patrick Mahomes that put him over to hump now right,

(04:54):
And so now people are saying, oh my god, he
might be one of the best coaches of all time.
It it just depends on if you get that guy.
Because Kyle Shanahan obviously is super talented. We know he
is an offensive he is he's a genius on that
side of the ball. And you know, I think as
a head coach, obviously, there are so many other things

(05:15):
that come into play. It comes, you know, situational football circumstances, players,
player management, all these things are intertwined. And being a
genius at your perspective coordinator position, right like to be
the head coach you have, there's a lot of things
that come into play. If you get that guy at
the quarterback, which he has not had yet, party is good.

(05:38):
But we don't know if he's Patrick Mahomes, and he's
never going to be that. But we don't know if
he's that guy. But if he if he had Patrick Mahomes,
you don't think he's won a couple of championships by now.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
No.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
But see, here's why I'm gonna here's what I'm gonna
push back. Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
First of all, Andy Reid, they got rid of Andy
Reid and Philip he didn't win at Philadelphia, so Kyle
Shenahan might win, but he could do it somewhere else.
Kyle Shanahan, you can't go like, oh, well, he didn't
have the quarterback. That's why he hasn't won. He's had
double digit leads and three Super Bowls. So he was

(06:12):
good enough to get you to the fourth quarter with
seven minutes to go and a double digit lead. So
that's not like, oh, his offense is a movie. He
have a quarterback. No, he's not making the right calls
to close the games. All he is is Marty Schottenheimer
with a better haircut.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
You calling them Marty sten and Marty.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Schottenheimer got run out of San Diego for the same
exact thing.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
He couldn't get you over the hump.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Marv Levy, the Buffalo Bill's coach, is ninety eight years old,
and you know what he's probably saying to hself, I'm
finally off the hook.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
And this guy lost four straight Super Bowls.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
And he's saying, my God, thank you, thank you, I'm finally.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Off the whole. He's not off.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
He's not off the hook yet. I mean, mar Marv
lost four in a row. That's that's you know, that's
that's that's pretty intense. And he had Jim Kelly and
had Thrman Thomas, and he had Cornelia's Bennett, and he
had a lot of he had a lot, he had
a lot of win and they did not win yeah,
but they didn't. They wrote him out for four consecutive
you know what I mean, Like, that's that's patience, and
that's believing in the guy that you have. And I

(07:23):
know that they believe in Kyle Shanahan and and and
you know it's you're right, like there's there's no debat
in what you're saying and and and the facts that
are on the table. But again, you let him go.
And I know we were talking about bringing somebody else in.
I'll let you lead into that. But I don't think
that guy is a guy. But I'll let you lead
into that, into that, uh, into that conversation.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
And here's the other thing. All right, So you got
all that. Yeah, we've seen teams do this before. I'll
give you the perfect example. Tony Dungee couldn't get over
the top with Tampa Bay. He had a great team. Defensively,
they were unbelievable. They could not win and get to
the super Bowl. Guess what they did. Oh yeah, they

(08:07):
fired Tony Dungee and hired John Gruden.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
And guess what they won? They won the next.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Year with Tony Dungee's team. So here's my big plan.
You ready, yep? Fire Kyle Shanahan and hire Bill Belichick.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
He's sitting there. He will get you over the top.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Bill Belichick is the way for the forty nine ers
to finally win again. It's been forever since they won
a Super Bowl. Bill Belichick is sitting there. He knows
how to win, he knows how to close games out.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
That's why it's worth making the move. I hear you.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
I understand that perfectly fine, and it's a it would
be I don't think anybody would be upset at that
right for me personally, when I see Bill Belichick and
I called it when he got fired, I said, he's
not going to get a job this year. There's no
team that would take him. Obviously, those positions were open
and the only team that really interviewed him was Atlanta. Right, So,

(09:14):
there's a moment when you become you're over the heel
as a coach. You cannot connect, you can't connect to
the players. Relationships are you know, few and far between.
A lot of those, a lot of the solid relationships.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
That he had are gone.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Those guys are older and moved on, and you know,
even the players are at the point now where they're
getting head coaching jobs where you know, the coach that
took over for him was one of his former players, right.
I think there's a time for coaches like that who
are legendary to move on also because they don't connect
with the younger generation. And I just don't see Bill

(09:49):
Belichick being that answer for those guys. I mean, think
about San Francisco. Those guys are running out to the
games with big boom boxes on their shoulders and gold chains,
and it's a whole different generation that it's over Bill
Belichick's head, and I just don't see it working. I
understand the x's and ose, and he's a winner, but
I just don't see him being able to, you know,

(10:12):
immerse himself in the locker room like that and win.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
I don't know how you could take a look at
Bill Belichick with the team that's put together and not
think that he could get them over the hump. Bill
Belichick is known for defense. The reason that they haven't
been able to win is a they don't run the
ball when you need it, and their defense is given
up double digit leads in the final ten minutes, final
seven minutes of three Super Bowls. Bill Belichick is the

(10:42):
right guy you can't be afraid to hold on because
you know how football is carry at at some point
that nucleus guys move on. People get you know, you
think you got ten years to make a run.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
You don't.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Your run might be over before you know it, so
you need to capitalize on it. And the one thing
that Kyle Shanahan has proven is that he can't get
it done. This isn't an overreaction to one chance or
one opportunity at the Super Bowl. This is now three chances,

(11:19):
one as an offensive coordinator where he blew a twenty
five point lead in the second half, and two other
where he had a ten point lead, dominated the game,
went away from the run, and didn't know how to
close the game. I'm convinced now more than ever that
Kyle Shanahan will never and eva win a Super Bowl,

(11:40):
not with this team, not with this team. In this situation,
he might have to be Andy Wee, go somewhere else
and have Patrick Mahomes fall into your lap, and then
maybe you might win. But if it's about Kyle Shanahan
making the right moves, I have zero confidence in him
at this point.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
I do carry. I would not keep him. I hear
you no, I mean, and the proof is what it is.
He hasn't won, he's blown leaves. All those things you're
saying are true. So I get it. I understand people
that would even back you on that. I just I'm
I'm a patient guy. And again you said it right though,

(12:20):
the NFL isn't patient. So we'll see. We'll see what
they decide. But I think he can get it done.
And you know, obviously you know with that core if
they can bring them all back. I know Brandon Ayuku
is already campaigning to get out of there.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
So we'll see. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
All right, we want to hear from you eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine nine.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Six sixty three sixty nine. Where are you?

Speaker 6 (12:46):
Am?

Speaker 2 (12:46):
I crazy? Am I a sugar nough?

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Should the forty nine ers fire Kyle Shanahan and hire
Bill Belichick if they want to win a Super Bowl?
Bill might come in and win next year? They're already
the favorite.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
How about that? Bill?

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Wow, home man, and get this thing done.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
I can't believe you're talking about Bill Belichick though, Rob,
that's the that one. Just I just he might cheat
and win. We know that that's another proven fact. But
I just don't see it. I think his time is
as the guy is over.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Man.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
We'll see, but I don't think he's gonna get another
head coaching job here.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
All right, It is The Odd Couple eight seven, seven

coming to you live from the tire Reich dot com Studios.

about posting jobs, sifting through resumes and interviews with unqualified applicants.
Move up to the pros. Go to expresspros dot com

I'll telephone number eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
And I'm telling the San Francisco forty nine ers right here,

(15:26):
right now, fire Kyle Shanahan and hire Bill Belichick, and
you will win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Kerry ain't buying it, oh man, I'm not buying it.
I'm not buying it, Rob. But we'll see.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
We'll see if any of these callers agree with you
or they agree with me. So should we go should
we go to the callers?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Let's do that. Let's see what they said. Perfect.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
We got first up we got from Olympia. You owned
with the A couple. How you doing, man, Rob.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Parker, Carrie Rose. It's up, guys, big fan of both
of you.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Thank you, man, appreciate it. Yeah, absolutely, thank you, of course.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Man. I mean, look, you gotta.

Speaker 9 (16:06):
I mean, I don't think that the Niners are going
to move on from Shanahan because I don't think they
think they can because of how good like he's done
in their system. You know, like taking a seventh front
guy from Iowa State to the super Bowl in the
second year is a pretty big accomplishment. And I mean
I'm one hundred percent agreeing with carry on this one
because like what what you were saying was perfect talking
about how Bill Belichick's not going to get a job

(16:26):
this year.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
I mean, would it.

Speaker 9 (16:28):
Be a better move because Bill Belichick's experienced coach. Yes,
But I don't think the Niners players want Shanahan out either,
and that's a big thing. I mean, you were talking
about how the younger coaches are more of you know
kind of you know the click in the NFL, you know,
the new trend. So I think the Niners they're not
doing it. They're Okay, let me look get my fight back.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Let me, let me stop you. The players love Tony
Dungee and Tampa Bay too. Carry am I wrong?

Speaker 2 (16:51):
You're not wrong. They love Tony Dungee.

Speaker 9 (16:54):
It's a different area.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
No, it's not Tony.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
They didn't believe Tony Dungee could win the big Game
to Dungee wound up going to Indianapolis and finally winning
a Super Bowl. Andy Reid finally went from Philadelphia Kansas
City and won a super Bowl. And Kyle Shanahan might
have to go somewhere else and win a super Bowl.
But as a team in an organization, you can't keep

(17:18):
letting a guy do the same thing and keep losing.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
It's a mistake.

Speaker 9 (17:24):
I get that. But the Niners are I mean, they're
not doing it this.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Do you remember what.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
They did with the Warriors and Mark Jackson? Mark Jackson.
They moved on from Mark Jackson.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
And got Steve Kerr. That's not the same, Robins.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
All I'm saying is that you can move on from
people you can't. Right, Mark Jackson, they were winning fifty games,
they had Steph Curry. Somebody could have said, oh, just
let it run out that at some point they're gonna win.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
No, they made a move. True, they did, they did,
But I think it was a little different. I think
there was something internally wrong with that Golden State situation
where you know, like myself and Immit saying here the
guys wanting him and want him there. It's not like
there's some some inside thing that's brewing where you'll have
a knee jerk reaction to getting rid of the coach
at that moment.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
So it's a little different. But I do get your
get your point, Rob.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Well, we got Tommy,
Tommy from LA. You're on with the couple.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Brother.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Hey, how you doing, gentlemen?

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Doing great?

Speaker 3 (18:23):
This is this is the issue, Shanahan. The only reason
I agree somewhat with you, Rob is because he's not
getting it done. But the reason I carry is because
you can't fire him for losing in the Super Bowl.
He's losing to the greatest that ever.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Done, Helpping. He's lost three times. He's lost three times.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Stop it, no, wait, man, hold on, let me say this, Tommy.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
That is just a cop out. That's a cop out.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
If I told you Patrick Mahomes has only seven touchdowns
in the in the Super Bowls or whatever, you want
even believe the numbers. He didn't light them up, he
didn't beat him where they had no shot to win.
I'm not buying that. That's too easy. Oh well he
knows to so and so. No, you are you in
position to win three Super Bowls? You had Tom Brady

(19:15):
down twenty five points and lost.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Yeah, that's the one that's the most unforgivable for me,
that one. I mean these other two, well, I mean
the other one. They were up thirty one to ten, right,
And yes, those two are a tough one.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Tough pills to swallow.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
This one could have gone into either way, obviously, But yeah,
those first two were tough. Eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox that we got Scott from North Carolina.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
You're own with the odd couple. Man, How are you?

Speaker 3 (19:44):
I'm blessed man. How y'all doing?

Speaker 2 (19:45):
We're doing great?

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Yes, Rob, I.

Speaker 10 (19:49):
Agree with you one hundred and ten percent. I'm an
Eagles fan, So I don't want Sam Friand to win anything.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
You just hating Scott.

Speaker 10 (19:55):
That's for have the best hand. You gotta get caut
In that out there. I mean doing the same thing
over and over again. I mean, he hasn't really you know,
changed in any way or any fashion. And the fact
that Bill Belichick, you know, work with Tom Brady, who
was I mean, he should be able to, you know,

(20:17):
relate to Brock Perdy and never seen he's gone through
and going through. So I mean, I mean he'll be
an ideal fit for Shannon, I mean for Bill Belichick.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
And yeah, I agree with you.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Man, Man, Bill Belichick is not coaching Brock Purty any
better than Kyle Shanahan there, so that's not that's not
gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
But he'll know how to close the game at the end,
is my point. Carry in And that's where Kyle Shanahan.
It's not like that he hasn't gotten them a lead.
They've been up in these Super Bowls. That's that's what
I'm saying. It's about closing it. Oh, I know, I
know what you're saying. Wrong, I know what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, Well, we got
Scott from North Carolina. You're on with the odd couple. Man,
how are you Scott? Scott got we lost Scott? Ye,
Now we move on. We got who we got? We
got Tim from Atlanta. You're on the odd couple.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Man.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
How are you Chili? Tim? What up?

Speaker 3 (21:13):
What up?

Speaker 5 (21:13):
Rob?

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Car?

Speaker 2 (21:14):
What's our brother?

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Hey? Rob?

Speaker 5 (21:16):
You know what I did? I promised the victory in
the Zuper Bowl, So I'm calling in you know I'm.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I know you are, but but your your cochief, the
one who killed you again.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
Well I'll tell you what Rob. I learned the two
things from the Super Bowl.

Speaker 11 (21:32):
I learned that the forty nine ers can waimit brought
thirty rock perty. And the second thing that Kyle Shanahan
is not a big game coach. He as much as
I he tested him, and I think maybe we should
move on. I don't think Bill Belichick is the dancer.
He's not because I've.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
Seen Bill Belichick ruined Matt Jones and other young quarterbacks.
I don't trust him with a young quarterback that has potential.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
You ever see him give up a lead at the
end of Bill Belichick when they won all those Super
Bowls that they give Tom Brady all the credit, had
top five defenses, and they close games. You want to
go back to when they beat the Rams the last
time for the sixth Super Bowl. The Rams were averaging
thirty five points a game and they got three points

(22:17):
on an eighty nine.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Yard field goal.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
You want to go back when he beat the Greatest
Show on Turf for the first Super Bowl. They were
averaging thirty some odd points a game and they only
scored like thirteen in that Super Bowl. I mean, that's
his strong point. And that's what I'm talking about, Tim,
It's about closing it.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Well, listen, Tim and Robb. What about him coming on
as a defensive coordinator. You think he would?

Speaker 2 (22:41):
No, that's above him.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
He's going to have the most wins in the history
of the NFL coach with six Super Bowls.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
He's not coming on a defensive coordinator. No way.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Kyle Shanahan doesn't call the right plays offensively to also
close the game by running the football.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
If they bring in Bill Bill, they will lose that core.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
And I'll bet you that, Rob, So you can say
all this stuff you're saying, and you're right, and I
mean those are facts, that's true. But if you bring
in Bill Belichick to that squad, now I promise you
that team will not be the same team.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
No, they will have a chance to actually win a
Super Bowl. As what you're right, they won't be the
same too. And when and one day you'll wake up.
I'm telling you this is Tony Dungee all over. Go
do your homework and research guys out there and see
how good Tony Dungee had that team and they couldn't win.
They couldn't win, and and the Tampa Bay Bucks they

(23:38):
didn't really want to fire him, but they felt like
they couldn't do the same thing over and over again.
I saw it in Detroit. They had Rick Carlisle there
right with a young pitchers team, and what they do.
They went out and they got Larry Brown and won
the NBA championship the next year.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Yep, that's that's true too. That's true. That's true. Rob.
All right, I'm just telling you I ain't off to
my rock or.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
I'm trying to tell you guys sometimes don't be afraid
to change. I've seen teams make changes and win, and
that's what I think they need to do.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
All right.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Coming up next, we're going to talk with the Ephram Salaam.
We'll get his take on the Super Bowl and stuff
that went on in this whole firing Kyle Shanahan and whatnot.
But first let's get you caught up. I low Isaac
longcron is at the anchor deaths. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (24:29):
I low so Rob.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
This baseball writing class you teach at USC, yes, is
they're a lecture devoted to what to do when you're
confronted in the clubhouse by a player who's furious about
something that you wrote.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Ooh, we have talked about it and my experiences. How
about a manager who's furious at something you wrote and
that manager was Loo Panella and went ballistic on me
in nineteen.

Speaker 6 (25:01):
Wow, one of the guys you don't want to tick off.
I have just four words, guest speaker Hal McCrae.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
There you go. I might get a telephone. Well exactly.

Speaker 6 (25:12):
I mean, what better real world instruction than you know,
these lectures in your philosophy class or your geology class.
Then having guest speaker Hal McCray come in and throw
a telephone at you and you have to duckrab Lou
Panellas storm into the classroom. We actually begin with it.
Item from Major League Baseball. Could they be a little

(25:34):
extra time in Oakland for the A's because the San
Francisco Chronicle reports the A's will meet with city and
county officials this Thursday to discuss a lease extension at
the Oakland Coliseum. They're least their expires after this season,
but their proposed new Las Vegas Ballpark is not slated
to open until twenty twenty eight and the NBA. ESPN
reports the New York Knicks are filing a formal protest

(25:57):
with the NBA over last night's controversy a loss at Houston.
In college sports, multiple outlets report the PAC twelve Conference
will be parting ways with commissioner George Klaevkov via a
settlement of his contracts. NFL media reports of Kansas City
Chiefs guard Nick Alighretti tore the ulner collateral ligament in
his elbow during the second quarter of the Super Bowl,

(26:19):
but played the rest of the game without missing a snap.
And finally, a short time ago, NFL Films released audio
of Taylor Swift greeting Travis Kelcey on the field moments
after the Chiefs scored the game winning touchdown in overtime
to win the Super Bowl. Listen, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Thank you for the support, thank you for coming, thank
you for.

Speaker 9 (26:44):
Making it across that way, across the world.

Speaker 8 (26:48):
At best, what an electric it was, unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
No word yet on weather Swift went on to ask,
so why did the forty nine ers want the ball
first in overtime?

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Back to you guys, I just threw up in my mouth.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
She should have said, you know what, you guys are
lucky that Kyle Shanahan is the coach for the forty
nine ers.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Otherwise you wouldn't have won.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
The Super Bowl exactly. That's what she should have said.
All right, al thank you, appreciate it. It is the
odd couple on the trash talking Tuesday. Of course, our
number two year chance to trash anyone anything in the
world of sports. So we'll do that in about an
hour from now. We're coming to you live from the
tirerack dot Com studios, Rob Parker and Kerry Rhoades in

(27:29):
for Chris Brussard. And now let's bringing Ephraim's alarm. Former
NFL offensive lineman Fox Sports Radio Weekend superstar here on
the radio.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
What's up, Ephraim? How are you?

Speaker 3 (27:40):
I'm good?

Speaker 2 (27:42):
How you doing great?

Speaker 3 (27:43):
I'm good man.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
So I just made the case that Kyle Shanahan is
Marty Schottenheimer with the better haircut, that Marv Levy is
now off the hook for those Super Bowl loss I mean,
and that I would hire Bill Belichick. I would blow
out Kyle Shanahan because I would rather take the unknown

(28:06):
over the known, and the known right now is that
he can't close out a Super Bowl. Ephraim, I'm dead serious.
Three times you're blown three double digit leads in Super Bowls,
I'm done.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Okay, So I mean that's aggressive, but okay.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Well have you never known me not to be aggressive?

Speaker 3 (28:26):
I mean, like that, that's true. Whether it's warranted or unwarranted,
you're gonna show up the same way.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
We'll say this. With the two minutes left in the
game and the third and four and Kyle Shanahan came
out and ran a pass play thank you, which which
didn't work. I said, right then and there, that was it.
That was the game. That's where he lost the game.
And my wife was like, it's not over.

Speaker 10 (28:50):
I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
If I'm going to say, I was gonna say one more.
It's almost like when he was the offensive coordinator with
the Falcons and Julio Jones made a great catch. Remember
on third down a set of first and ten at
to twenty two. If you run the ball three times,
kick the field goal you're up by eleven. Okay, he

(29:16):
passed holding a sack out of field goal range and
they lost.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Yes, this gave me shades of that that was not
the right thing to do because we have to understand
the game right. So I was breaking this down to
my wife and I said, with two minutes left and
Kansas City has two timeouts, the most important thing for
you to do is run the clock and make them

(29:42):
use their timeouts. Right, they run the ball, say they
don't get the first down. The chances are the way
they were running the ball Espreshy the second half, they
get the first down, all right, but say they don't
and the clock is running. Now Kansas City has two options.
They can call the time out right away, which would
have stopped to get the clock at about one fifty

(30:03):
or so, but they use the timeout, which is very
important moving forward.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
You kick the field goal up by three. Kansas City
has roughly about a minute and forty with only one
timeout to go, So now the pressure is on them.
Now they have to make decisions based on the time
and what they need to do. Opposed to a minute
in forty seconds with two timeouts with Patrick Mahomes, that's

(30:30):
all day long.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Thank you, thank you. It doesn't even make sense.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
That's all. You can run any play you want, you
can take your time, you can. I mean, there's no
sense of urgency, and that's where I think the game
was lost, not causing them and forcing them to be
in a panic as well as in overtime. Right you
get Patrick Mahomes the ball and say you have four
downs to get ten yards. I mean that's easy money. Yeah,

(30:57):
that's easy money.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
I think the crazy part about that game is I
thought the game was lost early. They had so many
opportunities to enforce their will and take control of that
game with the way their defense is playing early. So
I mean, I think there's more blame to go around
in that game than those moments. But those moments are big.
But I want, I want to I want to bring
up because I know we in this social media age,

(31:19):
this instant gratification age, we want we want to see
results right now. And so I mean, obviously a move
like this right now, moving on from Shanahan and going
to Belichick, which.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
No, see, no, no see.

Speaker 4 (31:32):
I I know, I know we're on the same paces
that being players, because Belichick wouldn't even he wouldn't fit
that that system and that you don't want to.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
God to win a Super Bowl right, you want to
keep it wouldn't work.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
I would not.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
I totally disagree. I hear you, but I just won't work.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
I don't know what has over people to make them
believe when he's blown three super Bowl not one. One
would be an overreaction from okay, one with be an overreaction.
Three is a pattern and he does the same thing
over and over. Some guy's egos get in the way.

(32:09):
That's how Dan cut Campbell fumbled the Lion's chance to
getting to the Super Bowl bye by letting it ego,
by letting its ego get in the way of doing
what's right in the game.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
Yeah, no, for sure, that's.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Your absolutely right. But in terms of trying to get
Belichick in, for first of all, Belichick lost the locker
room and sleep.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
That's all. That's all.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
It's not telling me what are you talking about? Ron?
You you want to bring someone in who does not
relate to younger players, the way they do things, all
the personalities they have in that San Francisco Losa and
you and you're gonna ask all of those guys to
change yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
I mean, do you want to win? Do you want
to win or not?

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Bron do you want to do you want to win
or you want to keep being the bride'smaids every year?

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Is what I'm saying from.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
You can't go up into the locker room and be
like we got you. Guys have to change everything you've
done and everything you've known to win, uh, starting right now.
It doesn't work like that, man. Yeah. And and in
Fantasy Land, yes, you could just replug in and play.
But what Kyle Shanahan has done, He's built the culture there.

(33:19):
Uh uh. He he is the reason why they can.
They can go through quarterbacks and still be a viable contender.
Not many teams can do that. Remember they were on
four quarterbacks last year. So you have to understand what
Kyle Shanahan has done. And look, I'm I know Kyle.

(33:40):
He was my coach, he was my friend prior to
being my coach. I've known him for a long time.
I played for his dad the whole nine yards. But
the bottom line is he has to make better decisions.
Is your tremendous coach? Absolutely? Should you replace him? No? Shot?

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Okay, let me ask you this, do you want to
stand on a step at the Playboy mansion or do
you want to go in?

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Which one are you doing?

Speaker 3 (34:04):
You don't want to stand at the bottom of the heel?

Speaker 2 (34:06):
No, I didn't give you that choice. You got two choices.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
You could be at the front door or.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
You could be inside. Which one you want.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
If I'm at the stamps, that means I'm on the grounds.
If I'm on the ground, you know. Look, just so
you know, I don't know if you've been or not,
but the grotto isn't inside. It is outside.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
It is it is outside of you. I know that
front steps.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
That means I have access to the zoo, the grotto,
the tennis courts, the game room, all of that. Look,
hey man, you going inside and going to it ain't
nothing really popping in there.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
All, I'm all I'm gonna tell you is. And you
know this.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
You know you're NFL that every all the players love
Tony Dungee too in Tampa Bay, and he couldn't win
the big one and they ran him out of there,
and John Guten came the next year with Tony Dungee's
players and won a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
That's true.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
Yeah, that's it. John Guten and and Bill Belichick. Look,
Bill Belichick, there's a reason why he's not coaching anywhere.
You think that's just like happens to there's a reason he's
not coaching anywhere.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Okay, My point is about Kyle Shanahan.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
You're just gonna stick with him because he can get
you to the dance.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Is that I'm sticking with him because he's a brilliant
coach who's made some terrible decisions when you needed to
make better decisions.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
Real quick, real quick. Just got a quiz for you.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
Who has better stats in the Super Bowl Terry Bradshaw
or Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
Probably I would say Terry Bradshaw.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
That's weird because when you think about the Steelers, you
don't think about their offense at all.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Really, you think about their defense, right.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Yeah, But Terry Bradshaw, he was a bad man. Man,
He was a bad.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
But he was even he was even more bad in
the playoffs though, and in the big moments.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Is that crazy that his stats better than Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
Yeah, but I get it. I understand. But look, look,
guess who's coming. Brock Perry coming, Man, Brock Perry coming.
I know you don't like Brock Purty. I know you don't,
but this young man in twenty six games or twenty
seven games, has won twenty one of them. Yeah, but
the championship game twice.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Yeah. But when they started throwing the ball, he won avel.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
That's why the offense stalled when they were nine eight
out of nine throwing the football.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Chris Jones is the MVP. Brother, watch go back and
watch the tape.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
And why did they picked Patrick Mahomes then pick Mahomes?

Speaker 3 (36:40):
Chris Jones is the MVP. What he was able to
do on that defensive line and crucial moments changed the game,
all right, on that last player where they settled for
the field goal. Look, hey man, just go watch the tape.
You will see exactly what I'm talking about. He was
a sponster and he changed that game.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
No, we appreciate you. Thanks for the insighting from Thank
you so much. All right, all right, no doubt. All right.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Coming up next a little Shekel City and we'll talk
about Caleb Williams as well. We'll do that as much
more as the odd couple on the trash talking Tuesday,
Rob Parker carry roads in for Chris Bussard.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
You know what you need to do stick and stay America.

It's the Odd Couple on the Trash Talking Tuesday, Rob Parker,
Carry Rhoads in for Chris Broussard, coming to you live
from the Tylered dot com studios.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Put your dukes down. What you're trying to hurt me?
All right? You know what time it is?

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Carry time for a little Shekel City City.

Speaker 6 (38:05):
Welcome to Shekel City, the whole base for Rob Parkers,
Daly Dix against the Sprat.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
All right, a little Shekel City.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
We have them up all over social media if you
want to check in, try to win some Shekels. I
got the Kings plus four and a half. They're in
Phoenix taking on the Sunday tonight. That's my best bet.
I got the t Wolves who put it on the
Clippers last night. My god, yeah they did. I got them,
even though it's a back to back on the road.
I have them minus seven and a half at the

(38:41):
Blazers in Portland, and I'm taking the Pistons plus ten
and a half taking on the Lakers in LA. They're
not gonna win, but I think that ten and a
half they might be able to cover that. Yeah, yeah,
that's it. Not win, but cover. So I got the
Pistons plus ten and a half, t Wolves minus seven

(39:02):
and a half, and the Kings plus four and a
half in Phoenix in the desert. And remember, I'm not
telling you who to bet on. I'm telling you who
I bet on. All right, Kerrie, let's go here. There's
all this talk. Should the Chicago Bear trade the first

(39:23):
overall pick, which is Caleb Williams right to Washington?

Speaker 2 (39:30):
What would you do if you were the Bear and
Caleb is sitting there?

Speaker 4 (39:35):
Yeah, I think if I'm the Bears, I trade that
pick to Washington, and I give Justin Fields a legitimate
chance to show what he can do. And I think
we saw down the stretch he was really good. If
they get some stability there with their play call and
and you know, really enlist trust in him to do

(40:00):
he has to do at that position. The guy I
think can play, and so I would stick with that.
They have so many other things that they can add
to bolster that roster to make that team really competitive
and start to actually start winning again. So I would
definitely trade that trade that pick, keep Justin Fields and
build from there.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
That's that's what I would do.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Okay, Carrie, I don't know, do you know Yiddish? Because
I'm gonna tell you right now, you're miss sugar n
Now that means crazy, okay. You The Chicago Bears haven't
had a franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman was their quarterback

(40:43):
in the fifties.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Okay, yep. And the idea that.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
You say, I think Justin Fields can play, Okay, I
think if you don't know by now, there's no way
you cannot take a generational talent in Caleb Williams. And
and you know what, I believe in this carry, Caleb

(41:10):
Williams is going to have to prove to me that
he can't play, because if they don't take him and
he winds up being Joe Burrow for the Washington Commanders
or you know, like you will never live it down.
And as a generalman, it reminds me of when the
Lakers took Lonzo Ball. You remember that, Yes, And obviously
Lonzo didn't turn out to be that guy, but he

(41:33):
was playing in the Lakers backyard at UCLA. Magic couldn't
afford as a GM to not take that kid and
have him be a star, right and under your nose
this kid. Everybody told Joe Burrow, ah, don't go to Cincinnati.
Oh blah blah blah blah blah. Dude, a quarterback of

(41:54):
that ill can change your franchise.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
And I can't take it.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
When I've had Justin Fields and I think he can play,
I should not.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
I have to know he can play well. We're still
going to say it's I think with Caleb Williams as well.
I mean, it can be a generational talent that we think,
but we don't know yet, and so it's it's still
an unknown with both. And I know Justin Fields has
been there and actually played well down the stretch here

Speaker 2 (42:19):
All right, A couple stick and stay America
