Speaker 5 (01:36):
What's up man, what's happened to mister Chris Bussaud? How
are you?

Speaker 4 (01:40):
I'm fantastic. Looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Same here, man, I need it a little too much
hanging out travel where.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
You were kicking it? And were you Houston?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:52):
Yeah? Yeah, Houston. It was great.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Actually tell us everything because we got the forty five
segment is for you to share your opening detail, so.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yes, we will save it. But it was a good
time in Houston. It was great to be there, so
that was good. Just looking forward to a weekend, two
Easter weekend. You got plans, you're in the family, you're
doing anything.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
We're got a ham on Sunday, Sunday and then with
my mother in law, one of my daughters will be
with us, and then.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
We'll go out to brunch. Very nice. Yes, we're looking
for it. You're going to it'll be nice. I wish
I could. I need to wish you could. It was
stopping you. Something stopping you. Go over there. You in
l A, go to Faithful Central and Englewood. That's the
place to go. Yeah. Yeah, it's a good church.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
It's probably gonna be packed on the Easter though, everybody there.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
All of that, I want to keep it real. When
I was in La, my daughter was in town, I
think she was doing an internship there, and we went
there for Easter Sunday. I shouldn't tell you this for
you to you ain't gonna want to go after this.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
So we go there for Easter Sunday.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
And first of all, they're like devoting a bunch of
babies to the Lord. This after praise and worship, so
that takes a long time. With the devotion of the babies.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
It was a ton too long, though, Chris.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
And then they had singers like a guest singer who's
great Kiki Cheered.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
Who's one of my favorite gospel singers.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
But we were there, no joke. We were there must
have been two hours. And and he hadn't preached area
work so close, so he did have to go. I
had to get I had to get out.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Of there for something, and so did my daughter. Let
me say that, not like that every Sunday.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Going to Easter.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Are you going to the Eastern Sunday service? No way,
nohow I'm gonna text you a church that will be quicker.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
How about Kempy that two hours because before I was
even like this, Yeah, I wasn't here.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
That's too long.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Yeah it was again. They don't do that every Sunday,
but that one they did. All right, let's introduce the
Eye Couple crew. The super producer Rob g is out.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
So in this place. Patrick Sweeka does a great job.
Yes before on this good Friday. It's good to have Patrick. Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
You just heard on the updates our man Steve the Seger,
on the social media, the guru Elijah Sabuna and on
the ones in two here we go, Mary Mary, all right, Mary, Hey,
she got it.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
Now he's one of the guys now you see.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
But it's funny she used that instead of your Mary Mary?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Why you that? Mary? Mary? You want to tell us why? Yes,
why'd you pick that? Instead of why you bugging? I'm
not gonna lie.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
I only had like five seconds to like figure it out,
so I just as something I heard my name.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
I like, yeah, you listen to the song.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Listen to the whole song, because because you need to
make why you bugging? Marry maryn why you buging? That's
gotta be the hot button, right Chris.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Come on, all right, but good job nonetheless, yes, all right,
all right, Rob. We got Mark Stein up at the
bottom of the hour. Longtime NBA reporter. He and I
covered the NBA together back at the old network. Now
he's the host of the This League Uncut podcast, so
it'll be good to talk with him quickly, though, Rob,
before we get to the topic of the segment.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
South Carolina is in a dog fight the Lady game Cocks.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
They're the number one seed in the whole tournament for
I mean, it's like they're that every year. They lost
last year, of course, won it the year before. But
Don Staley's team up seventy nine seventy five, fourteen seconds
left to fourth seeded Indiana. Rob and I was hearing

(06:01):
pundits today talk about you know you kind and we'll
get to that in the men's bracket. If everybody thinks
they just gonna be the runaway, you know, champion, it
looks like how things can happen.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
But they definitely look like the best team.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
What I mean, I think South Carolina will hold on.
But does this bother you if you're a South Carolina fan,
or does it embolden you, like, hey, they they it
was good for them to be tested in the Elite eight,
or you know, to get to the.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Immate and win to win this closely, yeah close? When
like nah, it just it gives you. I think, Chris,
going forward, you say to yourself, it ain't that easy.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
It ain't a layup.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
If you don't call, if you don't come to play,
you're gonna get beat. Okay, you thought y'all were just
gonna roll over today and not have to put on
any work. Go ahead, do it again, and we won't
be in the championship, we won't win the title.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
And so I think it is a wake up call.
I do. You're right the money and they did win
seventy nine to seventy five.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
But yeah, it's good. It's ammunition for Don Staley. So yeah,
I agree with you on that. All right, let's get
to this news of the day. Really in the NFL
ROB the Jets trade for sack master Hassan Reddick. Remember he,
you know, the defensive end with the Philadelphia Eagles, and

(07:24):
he has been one of the greatest sack artists of
the last few years. He's got fifty and a half
sacks Rob over the past four seasons, that's the fourth
most in the NFL, Miles Garrett tj Wie a couple
others ahead of him, but.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
He has been fantastic.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
And remember the Jets lost Bryce Huff who's a young
up and coming pass rusher for them. He actually is
signed with the Eagles, and so they go ahead and
get hassign Reddick.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
To me, Rob, I mean the Jets are gone.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
I mean they signed Tyron Smith, who's thirty three, Morgan Moses,
another offensive lineman, thirty three years old, Mike Williams twenty
nine years old, often injured, but very good as a
receiver when he's healthy. Obviously, you got the forty year
old quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and now has signed Reddick.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
And we know they had some talent before.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Rob.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
They are saying, and I don't blame him. We got
a forty year old quarterback. This could be his last
year of his career. And Rob, I think the front
office and the coaching staff knows. If we don't get
something significant done this year, I mean, make the playoffs,
maybe win around, we're probably out of here. So let's

(08:46):
go for it.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Now.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
First, tell me, do you agree with my assessment that
that's what they're doing. And secondly, do you like this
approach from the Jets or do you.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
Think it's just.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Well, first thing, Chris is I say to myself when
I saw.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
It, what's wrong with Hassim? What's wrong with him?

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Like like like there's some you know what I mean,
Like there's some issue because guy didn't want to pay him. Well,
there you go. And then Chris, we talked about this
all the time. This is our I mean, this is
our banner for this show on how these guys put
in all the effort, do all that stuff, and then

(09:31):
these teams don't want to pay.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Why should he not be paid? Chris?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Why should he not be paid? That team went to
the super Bowl? That team, you know, ran off all
those wins Jet last year. In the beginning, like, he's
a lot of this team.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
Did Robert He's twenty nine.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Bryce Huff, who had ten sacks last year for the Jets,
is twenty six. So I think they're looking at it like, look,
we got the younger guy, and they paid Huff. He
got a fifty one million dollar contract, So I think
they just I think it was one of those types
of movie.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
But I'm just I'm always questioning when somebody of that
talent has moved, you know, and I know financially, Chris
the NFL with shame on the NFL because why didn't
he get paid in Philly when he did all that
damage in Philly. But anyway, yes, if you have Aaron Rodgers,
there is no next year. There's no three year plan.
You just can't operate like that. We talked about it before.

(10:28):
Where's your Chris?

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Now?

Speaker 1 (10:30):
They got a backup quarterback finally right and Tyrod Taylor?

Speaker 4 (10:34):
Yeah? Yeah, so they got a quarterback pretty good last
year with no quarterback okay, because remember I said that
that you got to have a quarterback because he might
not miss the whole season, but he could miss a
couple of games.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
So you gotta have a quarterback. He might miss the
who knows, but you don't know.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
And number two that you got to show up the
offensive line, okay, because they've tried.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
We'll see if they can stay health it work. He
got three three offensive linemen, but.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
You have two because of what happened last year, and
and you do you have to there's no long term player.
Aaron Rodgers might want to play for three more years.
But let's be realistic. If you're the Jets, you're the
GM and you're Solah, Chris, this is it.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
Don't kid yourself. Don't kid yourself.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
If the Jets don't do make a run Chris something
or you know what I mean, like, they're done. If
this is a nine to seven team and and they
lose in the first round of playoffs, I'm just giving
you a scenario that ain't gonna be good enough for
the stuff that they've done.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
No, and I'm gonna be honest, and even with Aaron Rodgers. Now,
if we don't make the playoffs, we be in the Jets.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
I don't want Aaron back.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
I mean, well, you have to you have to look
at you have to look at what happened.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
I mean, just to be fair, Chris.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, but I'm just saying now, I'm just you it
depends because if the defense something like take a step back,
or the offensive line doesn't protect him for whatever reason.
I'm just trying to give you another shot, get it,
And I send to agree, that's all. That's what I'm
sent to agree.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
But I'm just saying they should be looking at this
as a one year thing, because who knows.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
I mean, first of all, let's see how he plays. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Secondly, how healthy? You know, like there's so much I agree.
I mean, if he's great and it's other reasons that
they don't play well, of course you're gonna keep him.
It's not like they they don't they don't have the
air parent Tyrod Taylor is not the air parent.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
No, no, no, he's a backup quarterback.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Yeah, so they they don't have that guy in place.
So yeah, if he plays well, I guess you're bringing
him back. But if it goes bad this year, then
you know, and I think Douglas and Solid could be out.
So I agree, Rob, I think this is the right
thing for them to do, to go for it.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
What pu the matter? Table? You gotta push all your
chips in the middle when you them right now, what
are you seeing?

Speaker 4 (13:02):
I mean, I think Miami could take a step back. Obviously, Buffalo,
even though they haven't had a great offseason, I still
think they're gonna be a force.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
I don't believe in the Jets at all. I have
to see it it, yeah, I just have to.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
So you will not likely.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
I know, we'll do our picks later in the fall,
but you're not likely to pick them to make the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
I'm just not convinced at this point. I need to
look at Buffalo's on the other way, so that sort
of you know, they could be an opening there. But
the Jets have had so much, so many things go wrong.
Just make the bad decisions. You don't not make the
super Bowl since nineteen sixty nine by accident, Chris. It's
a lot of it is, Yeah, a lot of it

(13:46):
is just bad management and ownership.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
And I get it.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
They were on the cusp of making two super Bowls
with Rex Ryan, and that team had great defense, Chris.
They ran the ball, they just couldn't get over the hump, right,
you know? And uh so, So I'm just saying I
need to see the team first to really believe in it.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
I just not on face value.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
I just cannot like, oh, yeah, they're going to the
AFC Championship Game.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
No, I can't that.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
I don't know how anybody other than just a rabbit
somewhat blind.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Right, That's what I'm saying. Say that you got you
gotta you.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Want to made that that that that are that Baltimore
and Kansas City. So there are two teams. Joe Burrow's healthy, Chris,
there's three teams. I'm just saying.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
I mean, now, like a f C North when you
talking to team, thing's gonna be tough.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
Houston is you know, we'll see if.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
They're the second year or that, right, But somebody from
that division, Jacksonville maybe they bounce back, Indianapolis will have
There's a lot of teams back.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
And I think the Chargers are gonna make a move
now that they've got Harbor. I think he's gonna do well.
So yeah, a f C man is no joke. A
it's The Odd Couple. Christa Rob, You're turned away at
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
Jets are all in? When now?

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Baby? Do you agree with their approach? And what do
you think the future has in store for them? Playoffs
or utter disappointment? Your thoughts next, Christian Rob The Odd Couple,
Fox Sports Radio. Thanks for listening to The Odd Couple podcasts.
Be sure to catch us live every weekday from seven
pm to ten pm Eastern four to seven pm Pacific

(15:30):
on Fox Sports Radio. Find your local station for The
Odd Couple at Foxsports Radio dot com, or stream us

Speaker 6 (15:44):
Hey gang, this is Jay Glazer, host of Unbreakable, a
mental wealth podcast, and every week we will have on
leaders from sports entertainment like Sean McVay, Lindsey Vaughn, Michael Phelp,
David Spade, got Fiemi, and also so those who can
help us in between the ears, anyone from a therapist
to someone like Ed Milette for John Gordon. We've all

(16:05):
been through some sort of adversity to get to the top.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
We've all used different tools.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer and Mental Wealth podcast
on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get podcasts.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
Jets are all in Super Bowl or bust your thoughts?

Speaker 1 (16:27):
All right, Chris, let's kick it off with Dre Andre
and Massachusetts. You're in the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
What's up, Dre, how you doing?

Speaker 7 (16:35):
Thanks for taking the call. Listen to Jets know what
the timeline is. Obviously Aaron Rodgers one or two more
years left, so it makes one hundred percent sense for them.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
To go broke this season.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
The question is are they going to be able to
assert themselves for me in the AFC East. You got
your Ard Mayo coming in with the Patriots trying to
get his program underway, Miami Dolphins being resurgence. I think
that's the first. They're probably not going to win the division.
So will they get enough wins in a competitive AFC
with Joe Burrow coming back? Look at the Ravens, who
are going to have improved, you know for them to

(17:09):
make the playoff? I don't think so. Yes, go all in.
Make sure Aaron Rodgers has everything that he.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Needs, especially especially protection. Can you agree with that? Especially protection?

Speaker 7 (17:22):
And that's why Rob great point. That's my only pushback
on this in terms of them going with defense.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
And it's like, you know, they're three offensive linemen.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
I know one of them is really all Ty round
Smith's injury prone, but I mean they've added three.

Speaker 7 (17:38):
So they have everything they need. It's all or nothing
for solid this administration. Aaron Rodgers still run for president.
Who knows your he'll do. But if they want to
keep the continue their careers, they have to break them
and make the correct playoffs.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Thanks taking the call, no doubt appreciated eight seven to
seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
I mean, Chris, as long as you address stuff, they
might not work out. You just said it with Smith
with the injury. It might not work out, but you
have to try, and that's all you really can do.
And we talked about it because we I mean, did

(18:16):
we think he'd take four snaps? No, But we had
concerns last year we did about the offensive line.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
You talked about it.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Yeah, it was it was a horrible offensive line. And yeah,
do you think it'll be improved? And he's got a
quick release, he's smart, you know, normal function around bad
offensive lines. But I think obviously at his age you
need even more protection.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
But and he said, two collar bones too in his career. Ye, right,
we'll see.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
I think they're doing the right thing. Like I said,
I think Miami could take a step back. Some people
think Buffalo, mate, I don't think Buffalo would.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
If I had to pick two, I would pick Buffalo
to take a step back.

Speaker 8 (19:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
I just don't like you know, I told you I
didn't like them all year. I did pick them to
still make the playoffs. But I don't know. Some just
doesn't feel right there. I don't know what's happening.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Well, they've changed, I mean, you know, they they've lost
a lot of players this already.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
They've changed in the chemistry and the mix to see
if they you know, you have a quarterback, so maybe
if you make some changes Chris, you know, and you
could still salvage it and take like a second version
of this, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (19:30):
Good team and last year I mean, look, they lost
to the Super Bowl eventual Super Bowl champions by three
points in the playoffs, you know, so yeah, but it's
been close. Well yeah, but I mean that's how good
you know the Chiefs are. I mean, they're just in
the tough, tough era. It's always a tough era. Obviously

(19:51):
you just had New England's era before this. But you know,
all these teams in the AFC are trying to climb
mount my homes and h you know, I don't think
the Jets can do it, but I think rob it
would be terrific for football. If Aaron Rodgers is close.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
I'm not even expecting I'm not really not.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
I don't know what I'm expecting me to be close
to his MVP form of a few years ago. But
wouldn't it be great for the NFL if he was well?
Because then I think the Jets.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
Would be good and it's just another big story, you know.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Yeah, No, the storyline is perfect. Yep, if it happens,
but big.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
If you know, Chris, I told you before.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
I grew up a Jets fan, growing up in New York,
growing up in Queen's taking the train, the number seven
train to Shay Stadium.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
My mom would let me sneak out of church.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
I told you these stories early so I could catch
the kickoff, Chris, because you know a.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Baptist driver forgiver. Yes, no, my mom. I would look
over at my mom.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
I look at my moms because we lived about five
or six minutes from church walking, so I would look
over at her. My mom was was one of the ushers, Chris.
I would look over at her with those big brown
puppy eyes bat them.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
A couple of times, I'd be like, she goes.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
You see what she'd be like, that's a mom though,
I'm telling you, like she like like my mom was
like good like that like she You know how you
read your kids, because you have kids, you have to
read your kids.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
Some things are important to them. Do you know what
I mean? As a parent? Am I right?

Speaker 1 (21:34):
And you got to notice what's important and then there's
other things that you could push back on.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
But there's certain things you gotta raisin, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Too many don't know that. Now you're not just saying no,
I'm just saying.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
I'm just saying in general today you're not equals.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
No, you're the parent, but you need to have like
a feel for kids or.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
You need to you need to know.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
My thing was, I didn't want to be too strict,
so when they left the house, they went buck wold
because that's what happened, right, And I didn't want to
be too lenient though, so they just out there not
knowing right from wrong and doing what they're gonna be.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
And then and then push be make you a pushover
like right.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
Right, So it is a fine line, particularly in today's society.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
But you know that's your job as a parent. All right.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
Mark Stein's around the corner. But first, Steve the Segrea
with the update, Steve.

Speaker 8 (22:25):
Steve, we got Sweet sixteen action.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
In college baseball.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Steve, Oh my god, the game I was talking about
it coming up was awesome.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
Game one.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
But okay, Yankees are back at Houston and a half
an hour Carlos Rodin against Christian Javier and we did
have good enough weather in New York. The Mets got
their opener in today and the Mets offense was one
for twenty seven with ten strikeouts.

Speaker 5 (22:46):
We ready to know what.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Buck Show Walter sitting at the MLB Network studios, go
and see it wasn't me, Chris, it wasn't me.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
They couldn't score last year and they can't.

Speaker 8 (22:58):
Score that right, Milwaukee three to one over the Mets
and Atlanta nine three winners at Philadelphia. As for the
college hoops and Sea State the only double digit seed
still at the men's tournament, well, they're winning against two
seed Marquette right now, twenty to twelve in the first
ten minutes or so of this game that is going
on now and about to start in Detroit. One seed

(23:20):
in the Midwest, Purdue will play Gonzaga. The late game
there we'll have Tennessee versus Creighton. The late game in
Dallas is one seed Houston in the South Region going
up against Duke at roughly nine forty five pm. And Saturday,
we have an East Final in Boston, number one Connecticut
against Illinois six pm Eastern time. Then the West Final
in La tomorrow Alabama against Clemson. In women's soups Sweet sixteen,

(23:45):
Number one South Carolina survived to go thirty five and
zero on the season, edging Indiana seventy nine seventy five.
Oregon State was a winner seventy to sixty five over
Notre Dame. Coming up in Portland, it is one seed
tex against Gonzaga in the late game that's ten pm
Eastern time, and also in Portland, in just a few minutes,

(24:07):
it's two seed Stanford against NC State. To the NBA
the usual busy Friday night Lakers have won five in
a row. They're at Indiana tonight and late first quarter
it's the Pacers twenty three to nineteen. Also in progress,
we've got a game with the Pistons at Washington. I
think there are people that paid actual money to watch
this game. Late first quarter Biston's lead twenty two to eighteen.

(24:30):
It's a matchup of Detroit losers of eighth straight, twelve
and sixty one on the season against the Wizards, who
are fourteen and fifty nine. Meanwhile, one of the late
games tonight will have Houston Rockets, who've won ten in
a row, playing at Utah nine thirty pm Eastern. Just
one game in the NHL, Devils out to a two
to nothing lead at Buffalo late in the first Nascars

(24:52):
on Fox TV Again Sunday, it'll be a night race
at Richmond and the Jets acquired pass rusher Hassan Reddick
from the Eagles.

(25:23):
friend of both of ours, longtime NBA reporter, one of
the best in the business, and now you check him
out on this League Uncut podcast, Our man Mark Stein.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
Mark, What up? Man? What's happening in Mark?

Speaker 2 (25:39):
It's my favorite old couple. What's going on?

Speaker 5 (25:43):
You are right? It's the odd couple and the old couple.
That's sure.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
The thing is you're right there with us. You're right
there with us in age, so we all three old.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
What happened to us? Man?

Speaker 5 (25:53):
What happened?

Speaker 4 (25:53):
I remember we were just playing basketball a few weeks ago.

Speaker 5 (25:57):
It felt like feels like Mark, Man.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
But good to have you on, Man, and loving the
work you're still doing covering the NBA. So just the
story obviously of the week Draymond Green, I want to
push it a little forward. How do you see the
Warriors handling this after this season?

Speaker 5 (26:19):
Let's assume if they.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Get in the play in or the playoffs, you know,
it's an early exit. I think most people feel like,
at best and I think this is maybe far fetched,
they get to the second round. So if they in
their postseason fairly early, do you think, you know, how
do you think they handle the Draymond situation? Is it
just we bringing back or do you think they'll be

(26:42):
shopping him trying to trade him, or Steph could start
thinking about his future in Golden State or what.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
I really don't see any of that happening. I don't
think Graymon's going anywhere. I've said all year that I
think Klay Thompson and the Warriors will figure out a
new deal that keeps play there. There is just so
much history and so much love and fondness between these
three guys that, like, I just I can't imagine a

(27:11):
scenario where they're not together.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
And but isn't is it you got to do as
a team Okay, we get it, but you you have
to be careful not to fall in love with the
past like this is where teams have downfalls and rock
the rest.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
It's not it's not one championship, it's four. No, I
get that, it's four in eight years, and there's a
bond there that they I always say this, The Warriors
are dealing with a calculus and a set of circumstances
that no other team in the league has, and no
other team in the league can imagine. And the only

(27:48):
way the Warriors are going to shock Draymond Green is
if Stephen Curry says, you know what, it's time, we
need to do something different. And I just can never, ever,
ever imagine that happening. Stephen Curry is never going to
be the one who says, guys, we've got to get
Draymond out of here, We've got to move Clay. It's
not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
I let me say this, Let me send this to you.
Mark can help me correct me. Did the Celtics with
Bird McHale Parish, did they not hold.

Speaker 5 (28:22):
Onto all those guys? Right?

Speaker 1 (28:25):
And look at how long it took the Celtics to recover.
And I know they had some other situations that happened,
but they held on to them all of them, isn't it.
Don't you learn from that?

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Totally? That's totally true. And I think that's a big
reason why Danny Inge has the reputation of that he
would trade family members if he had to. Okay, because
he Danny Inge is so hardcore. That's his rep because
he was on those Celtics team and learned that lesson
that we can't with it, we can't stay with this.

(29:00):
But here's the other here's the other part of that.
If the Warriors can't if the Warriors can't stop Draymond
Green from getting two first quarter ejections, what team out
there is going to what team out there is going
to say, yes, let's trade for him and bring him in,
bring him to our team, and now we're going to
figure out how to manage this better. And at this

(29:24):
stage of Draymond's career or Clay's career, what huge, franchise
changing trade can you make with those players? I mean,
you're realistically not going to be able to. The much
harder choices I think for the Warriors are do you
stick with their younger players who are now starting to
show some real signs of development. Kuminga, Pajemki, Trey Jackson, Davis,

(29:49):
these young guys, but such great seasons. But do you like,
do you want to move them? Because they're the ones
who are going to get the interest from up the
teams and that's where really gets hard.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
Let's go to another older team.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
That's I mean, I don't even think no that the
Warriors are underachieving that much.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
But certainly the Phoenix Suns are.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
If they go out early in the playoffs, do you
think they just say, look, we were injured, we need
another year. Maybe we go get a point guard and
run it back, or do you think they could make
some changes with any of their big three?

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I gotta be honest with you, they they probably are
the most fascinating team to think about in the offseason
because they've gone so all in on this group and
the new CBA is so limiting when it comes to
making changes that I think everyone in the league is
acting the question you just asked, what kind of reaction

(30:48):
can the Sunday Because they don't have flexibility. They've used
all their chips to put their stars trio together and
so it's not going to be easy even if you
to disassemble this thing and move one of them, you know,
because the trade rescriptions just are super onerous when you're
in the tax level to the degree that Phoenix is.

(31:11):
And so just getting Royce O'Neil at the deadline was
huge gymnastics for these guys. So I don't even know
what the move is. I think they're going to have
to run it back. And that's why these guys aren't
getting any younger, and that's why there was so much
consternation when Phoenix decided to go in this direction and

(31:32):
look in one element of fairness to them, the rules
changed after they acquired Kevin Durant. But then they said,
you know what, We're going to go all in, zoom,
pass the second apron and trade Bradley Beal and people
were questioning it, saying, Okay, you've got all this offense now,
but none of these guys are known as great defenders,

(31:54):
and what kind of team can you really have? And
on top of all that, I mean they're in the plane.
I mean they're gonna have to just get out of
the plane just to get into the first round. They're
not going to have home court advantage in any series.
But the one thing people will say, they've beaten Denver
a couple of times, so people will say, see, this
is what they're capable of when they reach their ceiling.

(32:15):
But man, I am I would be I'm much more
concerned about their future than Golden States, I gotta be honest.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
And one other team, the Knicks, so having a really
good season, but what are they Are they win a
first round match up good or are they something else?
Because I still while they have played well and they've
you know, look like some nights like they could beat
almost anybody, I'm still not convinced that they're more than

(32:44):
a first round victory and moving into the second round
kind of team.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Well, but you know, they haven't had Randall now for
ages Anna Noby has been fantastic when he's been out there,
but he's missed tons of times since they've traded for him.
They're just now getting close to getting Mitchell Robinson back
if they have their whole team on the court in
the playoffs. Look, I don't know that they can win
the East, but I don't think anybody's looking forward to

(33:10):
playing them. I mean, they you know, they could even
with all these injuries because Milwaukee's been so up and down.
I mean, even a number two seed is not out
of the realms of possibility. And if they can just
get to number three, if they can keep a top
three seed, they stay out of Boston's way till the
conference finals. I mean, I think you know, we're gonna
probably see Milwaukee in New York in the second round,

(33:34):
assuming seeding holds. Can the Knicks win that series? I
don't know that people will be picking them to win
that series. But again, I mean, if they're healthy some
playoff times, I don't think the Bucks are loving that matchup.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
Mark, if you can sum this up in about forty
five seconds, Philly, is he Is he going to be
back before the postseason? And do you there's some people
saying is it smart to bring him back?

Speaker 5 (34:03):
What's your thoughts?

Speaker 2 (34:06):
I mean, I'd be nervous about it, But look, hey,
I'm sure they're thinking that the clock is ticking and
that you know, they have to try to get him
out there, and you see, but yeah, this summer could
be huge with them for cap space. If there's any
hesitation or if there are any signs that he's not
ready to go, they they have to be extra cautious.

(34:26):
They can't act like it's this year. Everything is writing
on this ploff run to who that would be scary?

Speaker 5 (34:32):
All right, that's our man, mark Stein.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Check him out on this League Uncut podcast.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
It's time y'all for check. All right, here we go,
Shekel City. Best bet, Chris, we do some baseball. The
Guardians minus one and a half at Oakland. You see
the crowd just ridiculous, Chris, like, nobody like like for
them to play in Oakland makes no how many.

Speaker 5 (36:16):
People are there.

Speaker 7 (36:18):
I was.

Speaker 5 (36:19):
I don't remember what the official total was, but it
was horrible. The picture was awful.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
But I got the Guardians minus one and a half runs.
I got the Yankees plus one and a half. Game
two in uh Houston and Yankees came back one game one,
five to four, and I got the Knicks minus nine
and a half. They were in San Antonio to take
on the Spurs. Chris, So the Nicks minus nine and
a half, the Yankees plus one and a half, and

(36:47):
the Guardians minus one and a half. And remember I'm
not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling you
who I bet on. All right, well, Rob, you were at.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
The Rock the Astros game yesterday, Astros Yankees, right, yes,
and tell us about it.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
Yeah, great game, Sodo, man it was Chris.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Can you imagine for your debut in the pinstripe Zude
is bad man.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
He got it.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
He not only got an RBI hit, a key hit,
but then he throws out a runner at the plate
to keep the Yankees in the lead in the bottom
of the ninth. The place was going crazy. They thought,
oh they you know, they just tied the game. And
Soto makes the play and Chris. The only thing I'm
still bothered by the replay is it was a close play, don't.

Speaker 5 (37:38):
Get me wrong, but he was definitely out. He was out.
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
And they took a while to keep looking at it
over and over and over. And here's my thing. If
it's not conclusive, then you shouldn't have to look at
it one hundred do you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (37:53):
You shouldn't have to look at it like for ten
minutes when it's obvious.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
You take that long, right, right, I mean I get
you wanted to get it right, but it was it
was pretty clear cut to me.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
The catcher held on to it, and the other thing
I didn't like.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
I don't know if you heard any of his but
they were like they also wanted to see if the
catcher was blocking the plate.

Speaker 5 (38:15):
Chris, where's the catcher supposed to be?

Speaker 2 (38:18):
Like?

Speaker 5 (38:18):
He wasn't. I mean, you know, they got the new rules.
I know, I'm just like, but I.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Don't understand what they want to catcher. They didn't, you know,
bother with They were like, no, the catcher's in fine.
But I just thought to myself, Man, he's inside the
foul lines, Chris, inside the lines? Yea, So I'm like,
where he's not blocking the plate?

Speaker 5 (38:39):
Total needed to take that?

Speaker 1 (38:41):
No, I didn't even look at that because the runner
slid wide outside. You know, yeah why so I don't
know why the catcher would be even a subject of
a replay. But anyway, it was a great opening day,
you know what I mean. The Astro fans, you know,
they they got they they're they're all in. Everybody's got

(39:03):
on the Astros colors. They won two championships since seventeen.

Speaker 5 (39:06):
Well you know I got I got braves over as
the World Series.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
Wow, I'll be honest though, and I like the Braves.
I love Acuna Junior. You know, he was my pick
for MVP last year preseason. I e man, these Dodgers,
I mean they they are, They're the super team.

Speaker 8 (39:27):
Man.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
No, I mean you deal with bats and then here
comes old Tiny and here comes Freeman.

Speaker 5 (39:34):
It's it's just ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
No, they got they got to line up, and you
just saw they gave Will Smith they still shot. They
just gave him a ten year contract, ton of money,
lock him up for a long time.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
But if they don't win it, and I in my heart,
I would like to see him win it. First of all.
I'd like to see oh Tiny not have any trouble.
So hopefully this thing is you know above. Yeah, we
don't get looking. They'll get it sorted out at some point.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
I mean the haven't told ESPN asked and rob who
they o? Towy's team, you know who? They reported that
the uh the theft?

Speaker 5 (40:10):
Theft?

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Yeah too, and they refuse to answer, refuse to give
him an answer, So that don't look good.

Speaker 5 (40:16):
Wright. Did you go to the right right? Like where'd
you follow police? Where'd you follow police? Prince? Why he
know somebody stole money from your bank account. You're gonna
go faul charges stop immediately.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
And that's what's scary, Rob when you think of it, like,
because we talked about it before. Was it a situation
allegedly perhaps where you know O Toany was in trouble
and this is the fall guy, his interpreter, and you
know we'll take care of you. Take this here, will
take care of you. That's the only reason you wouldn't
file charges.
