I say.

Speaker 6 (01:44):
It too, Derek Harper, Rob, I remember hearing a lot
of times from commentators and I was just before I
was in the business, saying that he was one of
the best players in the league, either in the league
at that time or.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Ever to never make an All Star team. And he didn't.
He was a two time All Defensive player.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
He's known for his great defense, but never made an
All Star team. But he was like a he was
regarded like one of those guards that was right there
on the cusp kind of for for a good decade, Rob,
or close to that of making the All Star team.
So it'll be good to hear from him because obviously
the Mavericks in the midst of the NBA Finals. So

(02:26):
how are you doing, man.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
I'm doing great. How are you, mister Chris Brussar?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
You good? Yes, I'm good. I'm very well.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Looking forward to the weekend, yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:35):

you know.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Nice, I'm headed to Phoenix in the morning. Phoenix going

They were at the birthday party. Yeah, they're having a baby,
having a baby shower and everything.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
So I'm gonna fly out there and okay.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
And he's a good guy, great.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Guy, you know. I know his dad and then to

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Uh, he's really good to Chris analyzing baseball and doing stuff.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
So we should have you morning again.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah. Absolutely, He's filled in for you a couple Yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
Think I remember that. Yeah, he's really good. So did
y'all talk a lot of baseball that day?

Speaker 2 (03:16):
No, because he's well rounded, right, you know what I mean,
he's I know, you know you would just I'm sure
you pepper up with BA open to talking more bass.
You know that if they wanted to give me a
baseball show, seriously, I would do it like an extra show.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I wouldn't. I'm sure sure. All right, Well, let's welcome
in the eye couple of crew.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
Rib We've got the super producer Rob g Is in
the house. On the social media, the great Elijah Sabuna
on the updates Steve Desager. It's a Friday, so you know,
I just all right, well, let me just introduce her first.

(03:57):
But on the ones and the twos if a DJ
Alex tight shirt, it is none other than.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
What Mary looks like.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
You never saw Mary before, No, I would.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I I don't know.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
I thought you might have seen him, so she sent
me to her Instagram page. Was a little sheep as
sheepish about it. So yeah, Mary, Mary, nice to put
a put a face with the voice now.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah, yeah, good to see you Mary. Absolutely all right.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Forget you did him before?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Yes, yep, because you know Mary always goes last, Yes
for last. We say the best for last. So yeah, yeah,
Rob last night.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
The Boston Celtics dispatch of the Dallas Mavericks in Game
one one O seven eighty nine wasn't much of a
game except for a little run by the Mavericks in
the third charter to where they cut huge I think
it was up to twenty was it twenty nine points
or something like that. They cut it to eight in
the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
But you know, you got to use all your energy
to get this.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah, as soon as you do that, Chris and then
Boston ran off.

Speaker 6 (05:13):
It might even been thirty three. I think because we
were talking about it and that's when I know it's
twenty seven. At one point was it? Remember he was like,
you got anything? He was kind of joking, but in
the updates said you got you might want.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
To do something.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Fifty eight to twenty nine, Chris, the biggest.

Speaker 6 (05:26):
Twenty nine was the big Okay, so twenty nine Yeah,
and I say, I remember saying, hey, today's NBA.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
You never know, you know, they got within eight. But yeah,
you're right.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
You use up so much when you when you're down
that big in the NBA, it's hard. It's just hard
to maintain it. It happens once in a while. We
saw that with Minnesota right back down by twenty and
it came back to win. It happens, but it really
is tough to come back from such a lead.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
So what did you think of the game?

Speaker 6 (05:53):
I mean, do you feel the obviously you picked Boston
to begin with, but do you feel like it's that
was just in dick if of what we're gonna see
and this thing is gonna be is a rap or nah?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I mean, one game, not a rap. I just think
if you're I'm just looking at it. From Boston. Standpoint Porzingis,
Chris looked fantastic, Like he's a matchup issue. Okay, so
there's something that they didn't know what they were getting.
He hasn't played in a month. He could have been rusty,
could have missed every shot, do you know what I mean? Like,

(06:23):
he could have come out not feeling good. And his
steady looked spectacular. So that's a big plus. And then
Tatum didn't play well. What was he six for sixteen
from the field, So you win go it away and
your best player didn't even play well. Like I'm not
saying that they're gonna win by forty next game, Chris,
but you have to feel good about the kind of

(06:44):
win they got in that spot to at least quiet
the noise of people who are like the Celtics or
this or that, and they struggle all the time and
they don't play pretty basketball and all this other stuff.
They look like sixty four wins during the regular season,
twelve playoff wins too, that's what they look like. And

(07:06):
they got an important piece back, So nothing is over.
I have them in six, Chris, I'm sticking with that.
I don't think it's over in four now. Because they
won Game one at home. But I like what I saw.
And the other thing is, I don't know at some point,
you know, the Kiri, he doesn't play well against him,

(07:28):
Like the numbers, he just doesn't play that. I know
we're gonna get into a bigger So I'm just saying
all those things he better fixed. Yeah, because it's the
numbers are horrendous. Like you said, we'll talk about him later, Chris,
But what did you take away?

Speaker 6 (07:41):
Well, look, Boston was definitely impressive. There's no if s,
handswor butts about that. They look good and you're right,
Tatum didn't really have a great game. But Porzingis was phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Phenomenal. And it's not just he averages twenty.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
So some people might say, well he had twenty, that's
what he does, right, But he got it in twenty minutes.
That's impressive, christ in twenty minutes. He did it on
the defensive end. I mean, you couldn't ask for a
better return than you got.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
I actually thought there might.

Speaker 6 (08:11):
Be a little feeling out process for him that you know,
he wasn't able to get in during the Indiana series.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Maybe get a game under.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
His belt, he might be rusty or just might be
a little uncomfortable. But man, he came in and took
off right where he left off and played great.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
So that was good. But they were impressive. But here's
why I'm not concerning. I picked the Mavericks in six
because this is what they do.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Rob since Jason Kidds been there, they are one and
six in game ones in the playoffs, one in six,
and even this year they have struggled.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
In game ones.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Against the Clippers in Round one, they were down twenty nine,
and this is Rob, the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard, and
they had the Mavericks down by twenty nine. They ended
up losing by twelve, but that was just a rally
at the end to make it make it look decent,
and then they won for the next five games. Dallas

(09:13):
Second Round. Okay, see all right, the big bad Thunder.
They're whipping up the MAVs, leading by twenty five in
game one, end up winning by twenty two.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Mavericks adj just went for the next five.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
Games, So that's what they do. This game didn't look
any much different from those two. I just described those
other two game ones, so I think they'll be fine.
I don't think porzingis as good as he was last night,
he's not gonna do that every night.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
In the player.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
He's only played against Miami in the playoffs this season,
but up and down, good game, bad game, good game,
bad game, you know, and the good games he was nice.
The bad games he shot two for fourteen combined. So
he's not going to do that every night. And also,
Rob they're at home, and they have given up game

(10:03):
two the Boston in their in their first two series,
they gave up game two to Miami without Jimmy Butler
and to Cleveland without Jared Allen.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
And Dallas obviously.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Comes back and plays well in game Two's because they
lose game one, so they better. And I think that
I think Dallas gets Game two on Sunday and now
we got us a real series. But you know, taking
nothing away from the Celtics.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
They were great.

Speaker 6 (10:33):
You're right, Tatum didn't play well that Taylor Brown was fantastic.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Some pick Lucas pocket a couple of times.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
That's the nugget there.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Some blocks.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, if you're if you're the Celtics, you know, feeling
like you know you got game one, you kind of
put it out there. Yeah, we can play and held
them to eighty nine points. And I know that Kyrie
had a terrible, chooty night and had struggled against Boston.
And now you look at that instead of yourself, Uh,
Tatum comes back for Sunday. You got a lot of

(11:02):
days the rest, get there, shake it out and maybe
you could go up two oh and then head on
the road. So if you're Boston, you gotta feel good
you're not behind the eight ball to start, you know,
that's all you don't want, Chris, is you don't want
to lose game one and then you gotta win game two,
you know, like absolutely, Like there's a big difference between
that and coming into Sunday feeling like, you know, we're

(11:26):
not to take it for granted.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
And and that's one of the things.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
And you know, we've talked, you know, we've talked about
being not as impressed with Boston as their sixty four wins.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
And a big part of it, Rob was that they
played with their.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
Food too much, you know, meaning you know, they they
just when they get a little cushion, they just fool
around a lot, sometimes even in the midst of a
single game.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
And that's what they had.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
No business losing Game two the Miami without Jimmy Butler,
but they played with their food and then they blew
them out the rest of the series. Same thing with
similar thing with Cleveland and Game two of the second round.
So they've done that at times during the regular season.
Remember Rob they lost to the Lakers without a D
and Lebron. You know, stuff like that makes you say,

(12:15):
especially where when they're young, and even though they've been
to a lot of you know, conference finals and even
two finals, they are a young team, and when they
have gotten there knocked on the door and had it
shut in their face, you know what I mean, you
tend to probably judge them a little more harsher.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
And so yeah, they you know, look, more power to them.

Speaker 6 (12:37):
If they win this series and prove that they were
worthy of those sixty four wins and all the accolades
that came with it, then great for them. But until
they do it, there will be doubters such as myself.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yeah, and I just felt.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Good going in Chris, and I feel even better after that.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
I obviously it's an easier, comfortable win, but I think
for me it was the poor Zingis thing because we
even talked about Remember you you were saying the way
he paused and said are you hurting or whatever? And
you thought that, you know, maybe that should you the
Celtics should be worried or fan should be worried. And
he came right out and was dominant, like he.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
Had a good answer for it, because I thought maybe
was he you know, which would have been cool with me.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
But was that gamesmanship, you know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (13:24):
Playing around, sending a message to the Mavericks little misdirection,
Oh he's not one hundred percent, and it looked like
they didn't expect him to be. So maybe that it
worked in that regard. But I think like he said
after the game, Rob that he was like, well I
felt good, but I hadn't played or done anything, so
I didn't really know, you know.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
What I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
I played for a while, was it?

Speaker 3 (13:45):
So that was thirty thirty eight or thirty nine days?
Thirty eight day times?

Speaker 6 (13:51):
So yeah, I mean that that makes sense that he
would be hesitant to just come out. Yeah, yeah, I'm great,
and then you get out there and you play and
you realize, man, I'm missing it, you know, I'm not back,
and so so that was fine, but a seventy seven
ninety nine on Fox. Your thoughts on Game one? Is
it over bad sign for the Mavericks or just one

(14:14):
bad game and we got us a series in front
of us? Or is this indicative of what we're going
to see over the next four or five games? Your
thoughts next, Chris Er Rob The I Couple Fox Sports Radio.

A seven seven ninety nine on Fox your thoughts on
game one?

Speaker 9 (15:39):
Is the C series already over? I don't think MAISLDS.
Scott in North Carolina, let's kick it off. You're on
the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Scott?

Speaker 7 (15:51):
What's up? My guys?

Speaker 10 (15:52):
How are you doing today?

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Doing great?

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Good man? How are you?

Speaker 7 (15:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (15:56):
I wouldn't say over, but I would say I'll be
highly concerned. If I'm the Mavericks. I got three points Kyrie.
I mean that's a big factor. They swept them before
they played.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
On the team.

Speaker 10 (16:06):
They know him, They can make it difficult for him,
and he does. He does that like you know, put
up good numbers and get them. Two is the Boston defense.
I mean they can't Mavericks can't you know, pick out
match ups. I mean they have five guys on the
court could guard you know, any position, and then on
the other on the other end, they Boston can hunt

(16:29):
out matchups with Luca and Kyrie, so that's gonna be tricky.
And then with Prizingis I mean, he might show up
again like that, but Garrettee he won't.

Speaker 7 (16:38):
But with the.

Speaker 10 (16:39):
Boston, they have multiple guys who can get them twenty
points or more. So, I mean, if Prodigas don't doesn't
do that again. They got Derek White, Jude Holliday, Jason Tatum,
Dalen Brown. I'll get them twenty points some more.

Speaker 6 (16:55):
No, those are good points. And that's why I said.
I think last week I said for the Cob the
Minnesota when Minnesota and Dallas was playing, Remember I said,
I thought Minnesota matched up. You know, Boston match up
better against Dallas than they did against Minnesota in my view.
And last night it certainly looked like they matched up

(17:16):
well with him.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Yeah too.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Did they get it right? I did, be into I
finally got it right. In West Palm Beach. You're on
the couple of Fox Sports. Ready, what's up, my man?

Speaker 11 (17:28):
What's going on? Rob Park and Christmas saw was going.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
On, We're doing good.

Speaker 11 (17:34):
I'm doing all right?

Speaker 5 (17:34):
Man?

Speaker 11 (17:35):
So Christmas, sorry, you said it is the series over
and I think the series is over. They're done done. Yes,
so what I just wanted to see it In the
first game. I wanted to see how hate him came
out and played. I needed to see him come out
and set a tone. But he look at how he

(17:59):
started from the field like that isn't suiting like that?

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Yeah, but what about Kyrie and the way he came
out and his extended against Boston.

Speaker 11 (18:14):
We've seen Kyrie have a bad game. This is the
beginning of the series. I could I trust Kyrie and
look at way more than I trust Tatum showing me
a bad side in the first game. Definitely score away
more efficiently than that.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
Come on, now, well and it was I mean, look,
you can have a bad shooting night. That wasn't even
what bothered me the most from him. It was the
six turnovers and three in the first quarter.

Speaker 11 (18:42):
Him play normal life, Chris.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Yeah, but that ain't good. I mean six turnovers is
exactly I mean, six isn't normal.

Speaker 7 (18:49):
That's that's Parker.

Speaker 11 (18:51):
I'm disappointed in you. How could he possibly pack the
Celtics and win this series. I've seen him the last
few years.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
I have, But Chris knows this.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Remember during the Playoffs Chris Is when I was like,
I'm like, they're gonna win the championship, all right, I
get to get a Should I get a color TV?

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Have a nice TV route?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
I do, That's the one thing I do have. Like,
how big is it? Eighty eighty five and it's in
your living room?

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Eighty if you've probably got another win in your bedroom.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
I'm guessing yeah, a smaller one in the bedroom. Smaller
like sixty No, no, no, it's like thirty five, forty,
you know what I mean? Like a regular I said,
all right, Andre in Massachusetts, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Andre?

Speaker 7 (19:35):
How you doing?

Speaker 12 (19:35):
Thanks for taking a call.

Speaker 7 (19:36):
Listen.

Speaker 12 (19:37):
The series is far from over to Dallas man ever,
bounce back, specifically Luka Doncics. He has a track record.
We've seen it in this playoffs, we see it throughout
his career. After a sub far game, Luca puts all
doubts aside and comes out with a lot of force
and establish himself in the get go. So I think
that's going to play out in game two. Additionally, these

(19:58):
two teams play the same style in terms of.

Speaker 7 (20:01):
The analytics, volume, shooting of threes.

Speaker 12 (20:04):
Dallas a little bit more isolation, Celtics much more of
a complimenting offense. But the fact of the matter is
you live by the three and you die by the three.
And the Celtics were up seventeen points after the first quarter,
twenty one points at the half. They're not gonna shoot
the You don't shoot the three with that consistency and
that efficiency. Just over the course of a seven game series,
You're gonna have hot tides and lowers.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Of course you are.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
But I mean, you weren't impressed last night at all, Rob.

Speaker 12 (20:28):
I was impressed, and I was doubtful of the Celtics
because they haven't had nearly a tougher pass to get
to the finals. That was their best game by far
of the postseason.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
But that team was hold again, you know what I mean.
And I think the poor zingis addition, had to make
you feel good if you were the Celtics.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
I'm not saying I told Chris earlier as a six
game series it's not over because they won Game one.
I'm saying coming out of the box, people question the Celtics.
They put on a great performance, Chris, even without their
big start at night.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
I think that's what you have to feel good about it.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
That's all right. You can't take it.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
You can't take anything away from them last night.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
That was a good win. It was a great atmosphere.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
They they honored Bill Walton rob and they came out
and did their things.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
So give them credit.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
But you know, the Mavericks fans have reason to feel
good about their team. And we'll talk to Derek Harper,
the Bally Sports Southwest MAVs TV, and the list in
a few moments.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Derek, how are you? What's up? Derek?

Speaker 7 (21:51):
What's up? So how you guys doing?

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Man Man, Great to have you on. Thank you for
joining us.

Speaker 6 (21:57):
And I know you were disappointed in last night. Do
you think Mass Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Right, I know. Do you think mass fans should be concerned?

Speaker 7 (22:15):
You know what, Chris, you always are going to be
concerned the way that and that's what I go to
how they lost. They didn't look like themselves in the loss.
But I think one thing to keep in mind is
that they've been the best back bounce back team in
the league this year. Very rarely do the Mavericks lose

(22:37):
two games in a row. They always find a way
to rebound when it comes to sub part games, and
that was certainly sub part last night. I looked for
him to the bounce back. You know, the series has
just begun. It doesn't really start until somebody loses on
their floors.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
So well, they.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
Always say that, but that means series couldn't start. Sometimes
I've never understood that comment.

Speaker 7 (23:03):
I don't necessarily agree or.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
No, that's always what they said.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah you're let me let me ask you about Porzingis
though no one knew what to expect from him, and
he dominated came out twenty points in twenty minutes. And
if you're the Celtics, you gotta feel great, Derek when
you see that.

Speaker 7 (23:24):
Well they certainly that certainly gave him a shot in
the arm. I didn't even know what to expect. KP
I don't know how you guys fold about it.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
I didn't either.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
I don't think anybody did.

Speaker 7 (23:34):
Yeah, you can't forget that. In spite of the injuries
and all the things that that's taking place with KP,
he's pretty damn good as a player, especially in the
Gay's game where the game is all about Biggs stretching
the floor. He can do that. And I think the
other dynamic for him is he does a pretty nice

(23:58):
job if you guys would, of protecting that paint man.
And I thought as good as he was offensively, he
was equally as good on the defensive. Yeah, yeah, has
some block He changed a lot of shots as well.
Kyrie can finish against anybody. I mean, you can put
two seven footers on the floor and Ki. You guys
both know Kai has the ability to score no matter

(24:20):
what at will sometimes. But last night I thought he
had Kyrie's attention and that that played a very subtle
part in Boston's uh, their win. People are talking about
the offense, and granted the team shuits a lot of
threes and they make a lot of threes, so you
got to take that from them sometimes. But they are

(24:42):
good defensively, and I think all of a sudden, people
forgot that.

Speaker 6 (24:46):
Now, why why didn't? I mean, you look at porzingis
his game. He obviously can shoot the three, can spread
the floor, as you said, can protect the rim.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
He's athletic for his size.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
I mean, you would think he would be a great
fit with Luca, but obviously it didn't work out.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Why do you think it didn't work out there?

Speaker 7 (25:07):
Well, Gody that that's a good question, but it's a
difficult It's difficult to uh to figure that one out.
I was surprised. I'm I'm a KP fan. Of course,
we all love and respect what Luca is as a player,
but everybody Chris can't can't play with superstar guys. And

(25:29):
even though he's playing with a superstar, when it comes
to a Tatum and Brown and those guys there, I
just think he fits better with those guys because they're
a little bit more athletic than Luca. Luca is, Uh,
let's face, his usage rate is higher than anybody in
the league, and you have to learn and grow into

(25:49):
learning how to play with guys like that. And KP
just didn't get that. The one thing that Boston does
for KP that they that the Mavericks didn't didn't do
when he was here. He's got to go to him,
you know, to take advantage of him as a player.
You gotta dump that ball in there sometime. If you
watch him in the Greens, he's getting a lot of

(26:09):
opportunities just isolated. When he gets a mismatch, they go
to him, and he's pretty good at taking advantage of
the defenders in that case. But here it was just
more about flowing Luca and as he didn't get to say,
he didn't have the same results.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
How about kyrie struggles against Boston, and we're going to
get into that later on in the show, but just
they did numbers on eleven, the numbers.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Are way down.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
He's really really scuffled against that team. Is that? Is that?

Speaker 7 (26:41):
Just? What was Boston defensive Lady one or two this
all year? Yeah, and they played defense. Boston Boston plays defense. Man,
they don't just they can switch everything. They just they
they screw you up a little bit with the switches.

(27:02):
I know when I was playing man, I don't think
this ever changes in the game. When teams switch on you,
it throws off your rhythm, and I thought Kyrie's rhythm
along with the Mavericks getting ready to play, not ready
to play. He didn't get up to the kind of
start he needed to, even though he made his first

(27:23):
two buckets. I just thought they did a good job
against Kay with the switching. Every shot that he took
basically was challenge. And you know, the worst time to
go cold man is this time of the year, because
you lose and you start to doubt yourself a little bit.
Offensively and defensively.

Speaker 6 (27:43):
They single coverage Boston did Luca and Kyrie, and you
know they're going to try to do that as long
as they can. But I mean, I tend to think
if you single coverage, they're too good not to really
exploit single coverage, and that's obviously a key to the
mass offense. Do you think that Kyrie and Luca will

(28:05):
kind of bust out?

Speaker 3 (28:06):
More so Kyrie? I mean, Luca had thirty, but you know, if.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
Kyrie can't exploit yeah, right right now, that's true. If
Kyrie can't exploit the single coverage, then I think they'll
live with Luca getting thirty, forty even maybe a little
more and keep everybody.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Else from going off.

Speaker 6 (28:26):
So do you think that Kyrie in particular, but also
but him and Luca will be over the course of
this series, just too good for Boston to consistently guard
with one man.

Speaker 7 (28:39):
Yeah, I do, Chris. I think both you and Rob
will agree that you don't stop Luca, you don't stop Kyrie.
You just hope to contain those guys. But I find
it hard to think that you're gonna hold both those
guys down in a seven game series. And I think
the series will be a long series. I don't think

(28:59):
it's gonna end quick, but stranger things have happened, right.
They're just too good, man. I mean, off the balance,
catch and shoot transition, they can score too many different
ways in order for you to contain them. And the
ticker is they both have the ball a lot. You

(29:20):
know what what Boston did last night to Kyrie and
all those guys is that every time one of those
guys got around somebody, it was somebody there for them.
They just didn't give them the comfort that they have
had so far in the playoffs. I mean, they dominated
the first three series because both those guys were able

(29:42):
to break down their defenders and there was just gonna
answer for them. And the other thing I think, man,
is that we're missing the point on Boston. I keep
saying it, but Boston is a great defensive team, like
size guys Dereck White on the raid at defensively, we
know what Holiday is. All defensive team all year long,

(30:06):
good size. They make you shoot uncomfortable shots, and they're
the one team in this league that you can't get
completely comfortable with. You see Brown, When do you see
Luca get picked on the perimeters? Not very much? And
Alan was able to take the ball from him. That
kind of stuff plays with your psyche man just a

(30:28):
little bit, and it makes you a little bit hesitant.
And I just thought that both those guys from an
offensive standpoint, they were a little bit hesitant and couldn't
find their rhythm because of the Celtics defense, as great
as they are.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Derek, one last thing for me.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
When you can win like that and be impressive and
then your one of your big guns and your guy
Tatum for the Celtics doesn't play that well, what does
that give to the rest of the team going in knowing, Hey,
ain't gonna play bad night, but you gotta feel good
that you won.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
But you know your star can play better.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
Yeah, of course, And I think he takes a lot
of unfair criticism. You know, you gotta have somebody that
that you're gonna you're gonna be on on a regular basis. Right,
Tatum seems to be that guy that the guy that
everybody likes to put pressure on as far as him
being the guy that has to step up. But you
have to be confident about it. I think Boston is

(31:29):
a confident team mainly because there they have the best
starting five in the league. We agree with that, correct, right, yes, yeah, yeah,
they have the best five starters in the NBA. I
think they've gotten to the point where Boston that is,
they don't have to have Jason Tatum to be their

(31:49):
number one guy. I think, in fact, I think Brown
Brown is their guy. I really do, because when he
plays well, they win all the time. Tatum can play
well and they lose. So I mean, it's the playoffs, man,
you gotta you gotta roll with whatever it's going. There's
no time to uh what what what do you say?

(32:13):
There's no time to to worry about one guy. You
gotta you gotta make sure everybody collectively is tuned in
and ready to go. And Boston clearly did that last
night in spite of Tatum struggling.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
Before you go, Derek, Jason Kidd is saying, if they
win this series, lucas the best math ever. You know
as much about this franchise as anybody you saw the
Dirk's career.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Uh, you agree with Jason? I do? I do? I do?
I don't.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
I just think, you know, first of all, I just
don't think you need to say that before the series.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
That's me.

Speaker 7 (32:50):
I don't know. I mean some stuff you're you're right,
I mean.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Just just saying, just Derek, just hold on to it,
you know what I mean, Like before you've.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Heard him say it before, darre I mean, he said
it must.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah, but but this is right before the series. I
just thought it wasn't the right place.

Speaker 7 (33:11):
I just right, right, Well, he didn't think it wasn't
the right place. So that's all about right. But I'm
gonna say this, man, and I know you guys, I'm
gonna be able to relate to what I'm gonna say
best Maverick effort. You know, I think I would agree
with Jason kidds because all that Luca, all that Dirk

(33:34):
has that Luca doesn't have is a ring, right right,
Dirk's career average twenty points a game. I think Lucas.
When it's all said and done, Luca's gonna have the
best stats of just about everybody that's ever put an
NBA uniform on.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Right right right right now. We we we we gotta run.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
You know how it.

Speaker 6 (33:57):
Works there, You know how we pay these bills. Thank you, buddies,
thank you and great stuff.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Appreciate you.

Speaker 6 (34:04):
Look, I got the MAVs in six, so let's yet
Celtics in six.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
I'm feeling good, all right, Derek?

a Friday.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
And let's start here. I think maybe all right, Yankees.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Dodgers, the big uh series going on in the Bronx.
I got the Yankees looking for what is it not
in the ro Yankees plus one and a half runs,
plus one and a half runs Chris in the Bronx.
I got the Guardians minus one and a half at

(35:14):
the Marlins and the Giants minus one and a half
at the Rangers. So I got the Giants, the Guardians
and the Yankees. And remember, I'm not telling you who
to bet on, I'm telling you who I bet on.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Well, Rob, A.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
Lot of people think this Dodgers Yankees series could be
a World series?

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Preview, was that your pick? I was? Remember I picked?

Speaker 1 (35:42):
It was my pick, Chris, and they haven't played picked.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Yeah, I don't remember, but they haven't played in the
World six in nineteen eighty one, So, yeah, this would
be great.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Wasn't that Valence Whaler eighty one?

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Yeah, yep, and the Dodgers won. Yeah, that was nineteen
eighty one. Has been a long time. They would be great.
They've played, Chris, Yankees and Dodgers have played eleven times.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Guess the record for each team?

Speaker 6 (36:12):
They've played eleven times? You mean in the World Series,
in the World Series. Yeah, the eleven World Series games? No, no,
no series eleven World Series. They've met each other. Right,
how many times the Yankees winning?

Speaker 2 (36:24):
How many times did the Dogs close?

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Eight to three?

Speaker 2 (36:31):
You got Yankees of course, right, ye, eight to three
Yankees and the last one was eighty one. So yeah,
I think the Dodgers have scuffled. I mean they're twelve
and twelve, Chris, in the last twenty four. That team
is way too good to be at five hundred.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
They just are yet. And the Yankees are exact opposite.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
I mean they I think they won nineteen up twenty
three or something like.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
They're rolling, yeah, running away with the al I mean rolling.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
And the pitching is really good.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
And Judge, Judge, I saw a stat afore today's game, Chris,
I think he started off atting one ninety six in
his last thirty one games. That's a good, healthy sample size, right,
thirty one game. Yep, he's batting three ninety six, three
ninety almost four hundred and thirty one games.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
And of course tonight he doubled his first time up, So.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
He's on the roll. He is on the roll. There's
no doubts about that. Look.

Speaker 6 (37:39):
I think we're all excited that the good news regarding
wyn so Tho that is just shut elbow inflammation and stuff,
and he actually could be available tonight, they were saying.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
And so that's good news.

Speaker 6 (37:51):
Yeah, I mean that's good news for not just the
Yankees but all of baseball.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
He's having a great year. He's exciting, Chris. He's somebody
you want to see. He has all the tools. I mean,
there's a lot to like there, of course. Show Hey,
you know, it's a big crowd in the Bronx, as
we would know it would be, and people are anticipating.
And I think it's on Fox tomorrow, right? Is that
the National Game tomorrow? So we're getting to watch a

(38:19):
little Yankees Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (38:22):
I'm interested, absolutely, all right, it is the Eye Couple,
