not gonna say who. I just want the fans. I'm
just gonna get him a little. Everybody knows who that
guy is, but I'm just gonna tell him. It's an
actor slash comedian. He is hilarious and people will enjoy
this celebrity corner that's coming up in about thirty minutes.
(01:55):
And he's a big friend of Seinfeld. Jerry Seinfeld. Yeah,
that's a hint. Yeah, I wouldn't have no, no, not,
I would not know who that means. Our buddy from
MGM Resorts, the VP of Racing Sports. We like to
bring him more to break down all the betting and
how you should spend your money, Jay Rude. He will
(02:15):
join us in our number two. I haven't heard from
dam in the wall. No, gosh, you know what, I'm
gonna give you credit though this is new material, it's
true material, right, it's not fun. You're working on it.
You were I could see you in the mirror. I'm
trying you in the mirror last night after the show,
(02:37):
like I was, but I wasn't work. I'm a little
moist right now, third hours, like okay, I don't know
where it's already off the rim. Four minutes ten and
it's twenty. Beckman Beckham, A lot of people probably haven't
(03:00):
heard of him, Twiny Beckham. But he was a national
championship basket play a verst in Kentucky, played with Anthony Davis.
So he's got a new book out. We'll talk to
him a lot to get to him, especially with college
basketball in full swing, all the tournaments are going on.
You know what I mean. You said Anthony Davis in
the news exactly. It'll be good to talk to so
(03:21):
you definitely want to keep it. Like, let's turn it
over to the man the myth of the legend, Parker,
go ahead, that's right, all right, it is it is
the Yeah, I'm kind of a myth. It is the
couple of Fox Sports Radio on your Friday. Yes, and
let's welcome into our couple of cool. We wouldn't be
able to do this fine radio program without him. Today
(03:41):
we got Ryan and for Rob g Alex he's our producer.
Alex Is of course engineer dash back Friday, I'm looking
for some funk man. Deaf Carson is our sports anchor.
She'll keep us updated throughout the program, and in turn
is Nathan. They're all on the other side of the glass.
Come on, Chris Boussa, it's a Friday. Let's kick some out.
(04:04):
He's Iowa Nathan. No, we got Iowa Sam. That's why
he's Iowa Nathan. You like that name. Yeah, he representing
this state. So he's Iowa Nathan. I'm trying to I've
never been to Iowa. I don't know what that would
be like. Is that like another planet? Is just? Like?
What is that like? No, it's not bad. Really, I
(04:24):
lived in Des Moines. Is that in the United States?
So Iowa? Or is that not? I'm trying. I told
you Iowa don't sleep. Roger Craig, the great running back
for the forty nine ers during their dynastic run. You
sure he wasn't just from Davinport. It sure he wasn't
just stopping by or you know who else is from Iowa?
This will shock you. Oh, Ricky Davis. It's from the
(04:45):
player in the NBA. Really, yes, And people like Ricky
Davis they think the first thing they think about when
they think of Ricky Davis is hood right, and now
he was from Iowa. Maybe maybe he's from the projects
of Iowa. Yeah, and I think Alex checked this out.
I think TLC. Remember the singing group the Larder Falls,
(05:09):
Uh creeping, So I creep they're not from check Out.
I believe I might be wrong, but I believe they're
from de Moine. I would wear. Nathan just gave us
a thumbs down. He said, I don't know anything about TLC.
He said, Nathan, he wasn't you know, he wasn't rolling
in them circles TLC, tl DJ, Tyson checking it out
(05:30):
he does that. There's big news, Rob and uh, it's
it's not good. It's hopefully. I don't even know what
to say. I never seems like all we So I
found out that t boys tiona tennis watching she was
born in de Moine, Iowa. Yeah, boy, what I tell
(05:53):
t Bos she was the kind of maybe the biggest.
They all were big. But t Bos so stop this
in Iowa. Stop dissing Iowa. I just don't. I just
can't imagine you're there. You know, I was there two years,
but you were you were held against your will? Right,
I mean in some degree I was. I was a kid.
(06:16):
I had no choice, That's the truth. I had no
like where are all right? Enough about Iowa? All right?
Tyreek Hill, Tyreek Hill, the fantastic Kansas City Chiefs Wide
receiver is under investigation for alleged battery. Here's the details, Rob.
(06:37):
All we know is what we're reading. It's it's early,
but the Kansas City Chiefs half confirmed that he's under
investigation for child abuse and he and his fiance, Crystal
has been spinal. But Crystal spinal fiance is also listed
(06:58):
as others involved. So and it appears that the story
reports that his three their three year old son has
a broken arm, and so he's being investigated, he and
his fiance. You know what usually who or what might
(07:18):
be child abuse because their son has a broken you
know what usually happens when you bring a kid into
like the doctor or emergency room with a broken arm
or something, they automatically investigate or something like that. That's
probably what happened. They had to bring him in and
then they go away a minute. What happened here? And
if the doctor doesn't has that been reported? I'm just
(07:40):
saying that's normally, that's normally what happens. I think they
bring they bring you in, you know what I mean,
just in case when kids come in and they're injured.
You want to know what happened. And of course Tyreek
Hill has a history of domestic violence with right because
when she was pregnant with this little bit in college, right,
(08:00):
I'm thinking that time he punched her. This was in
twenty fourteen, eight weeks pregnant, and he punched her. So
I guess is it No, it was boy, but he
punched her in the stomach and choked her. So you know,
then they reconciled and the charges were the conviction was
(08:23):
dismissed and uh it was spunged after he completed his
probation requirements. Now, of course, the Kansas City Chiefs earlier
this year this season had the incident with Kareem Hunt.
Kareem Hunt we've seen on video in the hotel in Cleveland,
(08:46):
and they as soon as they got the details, they
cut him. And don't forget, they did give him the
benefit of the doubt, remember he had because they had
come out before they didn't nobody had seen the video exactly.
And he asked they asked Tim what had happened. They
took him at his word right and said okay, And
then when the video came out there immediately released him
(09:07):
because it was he it was he had lied too
from what had happened. Yeah, so this is not a
good situation obviously for the Kansas City Chiefs. If this
proves to be true, I'm sure it'll be the same
fate for Hill. They will cut him immediately, I would imagine,
because this would be another situation even though they drafted him,
(09:28):
do you know what I mean? Like this, and they
drafted Hunt, right, That's what I'm saying. But but like
they gave him a chance when they drafted him, that
was your second chance, right. And now if this is,
if this comes out in the warsh that he was involved,
and it's just a sad story. I just really, I really,
(09:50):
I'm at loss. I'm a different I don't I just
couldn't imagine doing it. I don't know. I know this discipline.
I was disciplined as a kid. Everybody was justcipline as
a kid, you know what I mean. And I don't
know what happened, so it's hard for me to talk
about it. There's nothing that if if this is true,
there's nothing that justifies breaking the three year olds on,
not at all. Nothing. And like you, I was disciplined.
(10:13):
I was spanked whipped with a belt as a kid,
and uh, I believe in spanking, but not abuse. The
difference I never got, you know, nothing excessive, no broken bones,
no black eyes, nothing like. I've never punched two and
I spanked them when they were little, and that pretty
(10:36):
much taught them the less. I never really would have
never had an issue after that because most kids will
learn if you do something wrong. This was gonna happen.
I was sent out to the yard to go get
the switch. You know that that's yeah, yeah, that's a
Southern thing. And then I think a Southern thing, a
black thing, maybe a black Southern we I didn't go
get the switch, but you know what I mean like there,
but it was like, go get a switch, and the
(10:58):
better not be a little one because I I'll go.
But they make you, Yeah, you have to pick out
one that's not too small. It was cool, like you
have to go pick out your the thing that's gonna
get you whacked up. Now. I would be crying before
I even got spank by I knew when it was coming, right,
And I had a brother and most of my spankers
(11:18):
were for fighting with my brothers, right, And we told
you that some of us is getting spanked first, and
whichever one's getting spanked, the other one is sitting there
watching and crying because they know that that was coming.
But but this is this is uh terrible, and you know,
you hate to even kind of talk about football in
this situation like this, But this is a team that's,
(11:42):
if this is true, it's slowly imploding because of it.
It's own off the field behavior. Right like Kareem Hunt
when he suspended eight games. We just found that out today.
And if you do tackle on the last five of
last year, who knew plus the does that include? I
(12:02):
think it was five games so in the regular season
and then and then he missed a couple on the playoffs,
two in the playoffs. So right there, that's seven plus
t eight, that's fifteen. That's a whole football season. I'm
in almost fifteen game and uh, who knows. If he
was on the team, they might have beaten the Patriots,
they might have been the Super Bowl. There's all kinds
of all the stuff Bowl. But the Chiefs didn't look
(12:24):
at that. I give them credit that they gave him
a chance. They did right now that his word and
it wasn't true. Yeah, no, I give him credit. I
didn't even think they did. I thought they'd suspend him
immediately for the rest of the season. That's what I
was calling for. But they went further and cut him in.
And I think I think only because they put their
reputation out when they gave him the second chance, and
they trusted him, right, they trusted him. Hey, tell us
(12:45):
what's going on, and we're paying you all this money.
You're gonna lie to our faces. But Cleveland, when Kareem
Hunt gets back, they're going to benefit from that. And remember,
he's gonna miss all eight games. He's not appealing. There's
no appeal now, the right thing, I agree, even if
that's whatever. But he accepted this, he accepted it, and
(13:07):
he's gonna do that, and I think eight games is fair.
I think that they got it right most of the time.
I have a problem with Goodell and the people who
doll out suspensions because it's all over the map, you
know what I mean, like and and I never really
feel that great about some of them. And then Goodell
has been heavy handed. Didn't have to come back and
take some games off. You remember in New Orleans with
(13:30):
bounty gate, you know they threw the book at who
the coach. No, well, he got out for a year.
But the other guy, um the linebacker just right? Was
it a Vilma? And then they it was originally like
twelve games or something, and then they cut it down. Yeah,
but I'm just saying it was like a big cut,
(13:52):
like from twelve to six or twelve to eight, and
it's just like, you can't be that off. That's that's
big time off. It's not like normally they might take
a game or two off and I get it right right,
But in this case, I think the NFL got it right.
But it's just it's an ongoing story. It's an ongoing hill.
If this is true, he's got real problems. Seriously, I
don't mean legal problems. I mean he's got some issues
(14:14):
within himself. When you're punching a pregnant woman in the
style I can't even fathom doing that. And then on
top of that, you, if this is true, break a
three year old's arm, like he got some issues man,
and he this is going If this is true. This
is going to be I hate to compare, but quote
(14:38):
unquote worse than Kareem Hunt, just because it's a second
time to really grotesque incidents, you know, and he's going
to suffer badly. So, like I said, the Kansas City
Chiefs could be imploding from within. We've got WBC ultraweight
(15:00):
champion Sean Porter joining us to preview the Arrowspence Mikey
Garcia fight that's live on Fox pay per View tomorrow night.
That's gonna be a great fight, man, Rob, I don't know,
you're not in the boxing like me. No, you do
yourself a favor and watch this fight. Maybe we watch
(15:22):
you together. It's musty. It's gonna be a great fight,
both undefeated, both knockout artists. It's gonna be a good one,
all right, So keep it locked. I Couple Fox Sports Radio.

(16:54):
tyser bringing that funk I like sit all right, We're
gonna get with Sean Porter shortly the WBC well toweight
World champion who will be calling the Arrow Spence Mikey
Garcia fight tomorrow night. That's a mussy fight as far
as I'm concerned. But let's talk a little bit more
(17:15):
rob while we wait for Sean about this Tyreek Hill situation. Uh,
what comes to mind? Obviously, one of the first things
that come to my mind was Adrian Peterson right with
his son, Yeah, who was only like two years old
or something, and he beat him with a switch and
(17:35):
that was not stars arodom everything. He got six game suspension.
But it's just, uh, it's just incredible what these guys
are doing. And they gotta they gotta learn. It's gonna
have to take some harsh punishment, I guess for these
(17:56):
guys to learn, but they have to learn not to
bring that violence that they deal with on the field home.
Yeah it's a spouse or girlfriend or whatever, children or whatever.
And in this case, what you think about the Kareem
Hunt situation, the eight game suspension, you think the league
(18:18):
got it right? Yeah, I'm I'm I'm cool with that.
I think eight games. I give Kareem Hunt credit. He's
not trying to get it reduced. He said he wouldn't
that he would take his punishment and you know what
I mean, take it like a man. And that was
it and he apologized. Everybody realized he even said it.
When he apologized, he said, the chiefs didn't do this
to me. I did this to myself, right, And that's
(18:40):
that is do you know what I mean? Like you
could everybody could blame the cheese. Oh that's not fair.
They cut him. No accept responsibility. That's the first first step.
Once somebody does that, Chris, you could, you could, you
could look at them and be willing to apologize, you know,
I mean, be able to uh understand or give them
(19:01):
a second chance, or look at them for redemption. But
once you don't even admit that you're at fault, it's
hard to do that. To forgive, right, it's hard to forgive.
That's the first step. You're right on the money. And
I'm glad that Kareem Hunt has taken that step. Yeah
I was. I thought he was gonna get six, But
(19:24):
I'm fine with eight. I mean, you do something like
probably if people would have tried to appeal, it probably
could have gotten down to six. But he said right away,
whatever suspension the league gives me, I'm not gonna appeal
and he stuck by it. That's what he said originally,
and that's what he said with the Browns, and I
guess that's why the Browns were willing to give him
(19:45):
a second chance. Even before the suspension came down. I
thought it was a good move by the Browns to
pick him up. I know somebody, I think you you
even questioned it. Some people had questions about it. And
John Dorsey, of course, the g him. He's the one
that drafted him. He was in Kansas City when he
drafted Hunt. I just think sometimes they're quick. I thought
the Washington one was quick. Uh. When when the uh
(20:09):
Skins picked up from San Francisco, Yeah, I can't remember
the name, but yeah, they picked up the line but
believe his linebacker but defensive Yeah, I know you're talking about.
I Uh, it looked this was a strategic This was
a football move they made. You know, they knew he
was going to be suspended and it was gonna be
(20:30):
a while before they could have him on the field.
But they knew that when when he did get back
on the field, they knew he'd beat Ruben Foster. Yeah,
they knew, of right, they knew he'd be given a
second chance, and they were like, look, we're gonna jump
on it. And when he gets that second chance, we
wanted to be with the Browns and Dorsey being there.
(20:52):
He obviously has a relationship with him, so that should help.
But I think Kareem Hunt will change and I don't
think so. Yeah, I hope so. I think he saw
everything like flash before his odd did suffer. I mean,
he lost, like you said, a whole season basically the
money right that goes with that Tyreek Hill and the
(21:14):
other thing too. He was not did not really suffer
anything were dropped and Kareem Hunt, you gotta remember this too, Chris.
Your reputation in that video will never go away, right,
So god forbid you're involved in anything else, do you
know what I mean, It'll be like this is a paddle,
It'll be this is You'll be done, like, Okay, we
(21:35):
we thought you had learned your lesson from that or whatever.
It's a tough spot because because it's the same thing.
When there's video that other people could see, there's no
there's no like guessing or giving somebody to benefit of that.
You saw it for yourself, ye right, yep, no question
because that's what happened. Uh in Baltimore, Ray Rice. People
(21:58):
gave him the benefit of the doubt first because they
didn't see the video, Chris. Once the video came out,
that changed everything, didn't it. I heard all kinds of
guys making excuses, Well, you don't know what she did. Well,
you don't know this, you don't know that. Then you
saw the video and you're like, oh my god. Some
people were still trying to make excuses for Kareem Hunt.
Not any pundits, right, but for people right hands and stuff. No,
(22:20):
there's no excuse, none, zero. I'm not what you know,
whatever that young lady did, there's no excuse. He suffered
the call hotel security, he locked your door, Chris, she
could bat. You got to do his call security right,
and they'll get they'll take her out. Simple is that
you got too much to lose because some of these guys,
(22:42):
I'm not saying in these cases, but some of these
guys are targets. And we talked about it with Russell Westbrook.
A fan might love for Westbrook to take a swing
at them so they can sue him. Absolutely, here's some
of that money. So you gotta understand you in a
different situation now then, not only yourself when you grew up,
but the average American citizen. You're in a different situation,
(23:07):
so be smart about it. All right, We're going to
bring in a great actor and comedian, really a great comedian, yes,
and very funny, so you won't want to miss the
next celebrity corner. But first we're gonna get to Dab
Carson for what's trending. That's up, Dab. Good afternoon, Good afternoon, gentlemen.
(23:29):
A couple of suspensions, of course in the news, or one,
I should say, in another one potentially down the pike.
NFL suspended Brown's running back Kareem Hunt for eight games
for violating the Personal Conduct Policy, stemming from that incident
back in Cleveland last year. Chief's receiver Tyreek Hill now
on her investigation by police for an alleged battery incident
(23:49):
involving a juvenile whose sources say is his son. Chiefs
say they're aware of the incident. It is important to
note that Hill has not been charged with anything at
this point. Bless you the Dolls training Ryan Tannehill and
a sixth round pick to the Titans. Miami gets back
a seventh rounder this year and a fourth round pick
in twenty twenty, and after they acquired Tannehill, they released
(24:11):
Blaine Gabber. Patriots released defensive end Adrian Clayborne. Washington has
signed cornerback Dominie Rogers Cromarti. NBA news Lakers for Lebron
James not playing tonight against the Pistons because of load management.
Chris Paul also sitting out tonight to rest for the
Rockets against Phoenix. That's a load of U. And in
baseball news, the Philly say outfielder Bryce Harper has a
(24:33):
right foot contusion after he was hit on the right
angle by a pitch during a Grapefruit League game against
the Blue Jays. The Carolina Hurricanes taking on the Columbus
Bluejackets tonight, and Friday's Discover card key matchup. That one
just getting underway. Discover alerts you if they find your
social Security number on any one of thousands of risky websites,

couple of other notes from a league Baseball Dodgers manager
Dave Robert says it's not likely Clayton Kershaw's gonna be
ready to pitch on opening day because of his shoulder injury.
He's not going to rule him out though, for the
opening week of this season. Yankee say Louis Severino is
out until May because of a rotator cuff injury. And
(25:15):
Mariners third basement Kyle Seger out ten to twelve weeks
after undergoing tendon's surgery on his left hand. We'll be
right back with the odd Couple in ten seconds. But
first a word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance. We know

Thank you. David is the Eye Couple. I'm Chris. He's robbing.
We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent or more
in your car insurers with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The
(26:01):
only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
We are not apparently going to get Sean Porter. He
the timing was off. We couldn't make it. But do
yourself a favor and check out the fight he will
be calling tomorrow night. That is Errol Spence and Mikey Garcia. Spence,
(26:22):
of course, the IBF welterweight champion and Mikey Garcia, the
WBC lightweight champion, both are undefeated, so something has to give. Typically,
you know in boxing, sometimes it could be a drawer.
He'll be a bad decision. I think it's gonna be
a good fight. I'm picking Spence. You're expecting a knockout.
(26:43):
I'm picking Spence t KO round eight because they're both
knockout artists. You're expecting somebody to go down or no, Yeah,
I think you'll put him down. Garcia's moving up and
wait and Garcia is strong, he's tough, he can box,
but Spence has the total package to spend. It's years
ago rose to fame prominence when he outclassed Reportedly, the rumors,
(27:09):
the scuttle butt is that he outclassed Floyd Mayweather in
a sparring section really and got the best like like
hurt Floyd. You know, it's crazy. Errol Spence. Yeah, that's
my cousin's ex husband's name. Whatever time I hear that name,
the same thing. Yes, you sure that's not the one? No, No,
(27:30):
he is. I think it is Errol Spence Junior. No, No,
that's that's kind of crazy. Every time I hear that name,
I just think of my cousins X. Yeah, but that's
how he rose to fame. So that that tells you
right now that this dude is the truth. Uh. And
Floyd even mean that. Floyd said that he had just
kind of you know, when Floyd got out of prison
(27:52):
and he was rusty and he hadn't really been fighting,
so he's you know, he didn't say he didn't say,
oh no, that never happened. He just said, you know,
I was rusty, but when I got back to being Floyd,
I was Floyd. All Right. We are about to bring
in the man that has a residency at the Westgate
Resort and Casino in Los Vegas. He's a great comedian
(28:17):
also an actor. You can follow him on Twitter at
mister George Wallace. Go to George Wallace dot net for
ticket information. He's gonna join us next on our celebrity corner. God,
I know for the odd couple celebrity corners, George was
(28:41):
happen with Chris and Rod. We're the odd couple. How
to couple? Thank you for my husband. I love the room.
Remember y'all talk to me, tell me something. Well, we
were just excited to have you on. I've been a
fan for a long time and my wife went to
see you a few years to go in Las Vegas
(29:01):
and she was just raving about you and Rob. Here
is an inspiring stand up comics. That's right, one of
these days, cited. I'm gonna do my five minutes, but
I appreciate your word George very much. George, Rob, You're
not gonna do five minutes. You're gonna come to my show.
You're gonna do fifty minutes, and you're gonna do it,
and you're gonna stand up there. I don't care if
(29:23):
you're firm, the what you look look, that's for sure.
What George, You're gonna look good that night. Believe me,
that's fine with me. You know I've been doing your
wife a long time. I get into that. Excuse me, Wow,
I knew we were gonna get roasted bride, right, I
(29:44):
do that, so I'm not even mad. If you can look,
I love you. I appreciate your calling. And when you
come down the last kas, make sure you're starting the
show and you know it's a couple of n I'm
gonna take up. That's why we would definitely do that.
We would definitely do that. Now, you but what people
don't know you're you're a big sports guy. Well I'm
(30:05):
kind of blessed. I'm really I'm blessed to too many ways. Personally,
I'm blessed the coach. I have the greatest job in
the work or two. I do pretty much the same
thing out there. I just go to work every night.
I just lie. I love line, I don't love. I
don't want to be the greatest. I think I want
to be the greatest. Be effort right now. Don't trump
us kicking my ass right now. That'd be pretty hard
(30:27):
right now to get that job. But bless you, I
since you may not even know this, I have seven
Super Bowl into my family that they told us that
we have been able to account for six. We got
Steve Steve, Steve Wallace, who's your brother, who won three rings,
who was offensive the Niners in the nineties. Yes, Bobby Hamilton,
(30:52):
your cousin who was a defensive any one two with
the Patriots. And then Amney Tumor who got he got,
He's got two. Okay, so that's seven. You don't count.
Next time you called me prob your information? Ready? Hey,
Chris too? And two and three years of Trevor. All right,
(31:16):
you're right, I'm gonna blame that one on Rob. Well, Rob,
did you do that posta anyway? So we're gonna let
him go. But that that's great. Did you were you
a football player in your younger days? No, I was
a good football player, but I didn't want to play football.
I wanted to be a comedian since I'm a six
years old. W That's what I told the coach. I
(31:37):
said that coach, I'm gonna be a sir. That's all
i want to do in life for them, and I'm
blessed scared to do my job when I love sports tremendously.
So even my son, you know, my son is a
great in sports. Now have a little student if you
have a minute. Yeah. I was on stage about three
years ago and lady came to my show and she said,
we need to talk. Stop the shout to about what
she says. I thank you the father of my son.
(32:00):
I'm gonna like this lady's crazy store, you know, And
then you know, I'm not going to brush of Acron.
I'm thinking I'm part of her filling. I'm thinking Frisch.
First of all, I'm a lotion man, right because I'm
going I can't beat the dead in the first ball. Now, now,
the people that know know what the joke is. That
though the jokes, they don't know what they don't know
right in the case they make me go back to Acron,
(32:22):
I'm an take a DNA test, rob And I said,
to the DNA test, and I walked out, and sure
enough more took us for sitting there. So I was
the follower. I went about the asking. I tried to
make child support payments for what it years, because that's
what the good fool is supposed to do. Is worth
the father y'all were the fathers. I'm trying to make
child support man. But you know, the fools don't even
taking my money. God bless him. He wouldn't even take
(32:43):
my money. So but he did pretty good. He was
here swilling bless up in Cleveland, and they went on
in the Miami and they went back to what's up on? Name? Ant?
You look at you all right now? Lost? I know
(33:04):
back in Ohio, I got it. Yeah, I was thinking.
I was thinking, did he play against lebron within? Yeah,
that was a good one. Now, hey, hey, George, let
me ask you about I know you and Jerry Seinfeld
are very close. You were the best man in his wedding.
Seinfeld loved that show. That's one of my favorite shows
of all time. Just tell me, Jerry seems like a
fun guy. How long? How long have you guys been
(33:26):
really close? And how did you get your roommates? Roommates
thirty I'm actually the room thirteen years, and as you said,
it was the best man in this wedding. I'm also
the father of his kids. Definitely. We've been drive for
forty three years. Can you believe that? Wow? Wow? That
(33:48):
to him. I talked to him every day, three times
a day. I'm surprised you have colo interrupted the call
New York Now the Beacon at the Beacon tonight. So
were you you surprised the way he walked away from
his show? Obviously it wasn't the success that he had
my goodness, was he just that drawing to stand up
and or you know he could have kept that going obviously. Yeah,
(34:11):
but we do things a little gentlement. We kind of
manage each other. You know. I was sorting the show,
getting on the stake because I came up to thirty days,
six days, nine days and turned out to be ten years.
So he came out to show after ten years. He
walked on my stage and closed my show. He says,
we've been here long enough. That's good, cut it off.
We're out of here. Wow, And that's what we did.
(34:33):
We closed the show. You can see it on YouTube,
committing curls, getting cold. He came out, he closed the show,
and he does things like that. He liked to close one.
He's ahead, man. You know he's not worried about money.
We don't worry about money. We've got We've got enough
money to return because we love what we could going
on that stage. It's better than sex, it's better than
drum looks you guys, I don't know what. It's just great. Wrong.
(34:56):
When he's to come on the stage, you're gonna find
that throwing. It's nothing like it. You know, no money
will come right the money will come. I keep your
young kids. Make sure you enjoy your life. Just because
you get a degree in marketing doesn't mean you gotta
do statistical analysis. The rust of your life. You might
enjoying ranging feels and paying coming, but make sure you
love what you do. And George, you know, Chris and
I both know because we enjoy our jobs talking sports.
(35:19):
We both wrote for newspapers, we do TV and radio.
So I'm with you one percent. What you do for
a living is a big part of your life. You
should enjoy it. And then you don't go to work
and never have a job. And they love to get
Like I tell you, every night, I just make up stuff.
They ask me, Am I coming in tomorrow? Like, hey man,
it's just good to put a laugh into your life.
(35:40):
I'm living. I love Lyne and I love lapping, and
you guys have fun, and that's what it's all about.
With the sports. Make sure you keep laughing no matter what. George,
we got about a minute left, unfortunately, But the college
bribery scandal, what are your thoughts on this? This has
been in the news, you know the last few days.
That's right, people paying big money to get their kids
into college. And they they're kind of stupid, tupical for
(36:03):
lady that we're to pay the one point super million
knowledge they should. I'm gonna get the back to my
kids and say listen to take just do what you
want to do what I never want to see you
again but the ring. But it's room for them to
brian and get it. But this has been going on
for us, Christian rob you don't know that people are different.
Lets people have a different game, man, I just I
can't even talk about it every night. They want a
different game with such people that nobody understands. Even I
(36:26):
want to have time to talk to you guys. We
could talk about mister Krapf. Lets people do different things.
My foot, well, mister kraff eat seven and stepping years.
Gonna leave that man along despite that he went down,
Now he didn't know what that was a sing down there,
every step stuffing. The old man should be able to
go down and have a fun if they wanted. Nobody
gotten hurt? Did they? Is that George? That did he
give the new meaning to an early bird special? Well? Yeah,
(36:47):
a lot? Do you want to one more rings? You
have the current? The current things bad through people again
in the jail. But I think this is nothing good
that it sound only the worlds because it's all over
the room. Now us can go back to school. It's
(37:08):
kind of like Trump people want they didn't really some
of the pages read again and they do that all
over Curning. Yeah, and they defected that man and they detectutate.
That's a different game for rich people. People don't understand that,
right because the money went to his his fake charity, right,
so then they use it as a tax deduction. Damn ye,
crazy people. Just two things. Where do you come with me? Rob? Yeah? Yeah,
(37:29):
Christ go with me to sign. These rich people are
so crazy, man, they just got too much money. When
you're going to sign Thow's house, when you touching the
security code at the game waves and still direction to
the house, That's that's what rich people are doing. What George,
we appreciate that time was Vegas weird coming. Don't act
(37:50):
like you don't know exactly. You better, that's all. I'm sad.
I don't know you, all right, that's the man. I'm
a great day. I love you. That's nothing. You're gonna
go about it all right later? All right, it's the

(38:54):
have much time in this segment, but I gotta be honest, man.
I'm looking at Teddy Bridgewater a little bit funny right
now because Ryan Tannehill just got traded from the Miami
Dolphins to the Tennessee Titans. He was going to be
the competition, if you will, for Teddy Bridgewater as the
(39:14):
starter in Miami. Miami madn't offered to Teddy Bridgewater. They
went after him, and I'm sure I would think they
told him we're going to trade Tannehill and he choose
to be a backup in New Orleans one year, seven
million dollars. It's not like they breaking the bank for
you the Saints. Do we do we know something? Maybe
this is something that we might not know what's going
(39:36):
on in New Orleans. And I just meet and I'm
just meaning from this standpoint, if you remember the end
of the season, Chris just his arm in that playoff game,
he had trouble. I'm just but I know you're not
implying they might bench, you know, but maybe he has
a maybe he has an issue with his arm. You
remember he couldn't throw the ball. I'm just saying, just
(39:58):
look at it, just just right. I'm not saying something
out there. I'm not saying, but I'm just saying, if
you give the two you're a start, you were a
starting quarterback in Minnesota, you had some success, you got
you had a horrific injury. You're back, you're healthy. The
Dolphins offered you a job like to be able to
compete for a starting quarterback job, right and order you
(40:21):
go back to New Orleans. It would be a layup
to stake to take the Dolphins offer a layup, right,
would you? But maybe they promised him and they said
he's been told he's the heir apparent in New Orleans.
But who knows when Breeze is gonna retire and Sean
Payton Mike, you know, there's all the talking. Maybe he
goes and they can't be real air and pairing would
(40:42):
have one year contract. Why why buying that contract? I
just mon Peyton might leave and then the new coach
comes in like whatever, we didn't offer you that right,
So I to me's used to be in a newspaper business.
Don't be buying into Oh yeah, I'm gonna take care
of you whatever. When that guy's gone, Chris, now that
happened to be want to tell you, oh yeah, I'm
gonna put you on this. I'm gonna do that. And
(41:02):
then that guy gets bouncing the new guys like, I
don't know off for your question. I'm just sorry, Like
I respect Teddy Bridgewater, great character guy, but I'm sorry, like,
do you want to compete or not? For me? Come on, dude,
Teddy's water under the bridge. I'm done with him. No,
I'm just kidding. I said that wasn't a bad one.
Nice playing on words, that's all. It was just bad.

next that is very near and dear and close to
your heart. Major League Baseball starts up and went two weeks. Yes,
(42:14):
I can't wait. Unbelievable like opening day movement Dodger Stadium
is two weeks from yesterday from around the league, and
it's gonna be exciting, all right. But some new rules
were announced yesterday by Major League Baseball and the Players Association,
(42:34):
and uh, you know, there's too many to go through here,
but there's one that really stuck out to most people,
including you and I yes, and that is that this
is a proposal for twenty twenty, so not this season,
but next season, that every pitcher that enters the game
has to pitch to at least three batters unless he
(42:59):
is ends in any Now, I don't know if you
saw this. If it gets hurt, you know, but I
don't know if you saw the latest news today. This
is going to be tried out in the minor leagues
this year, and if it doesn't work, obviously you you may,
you know, scrap it. But it's going to be tried
out in the minors this year, and then if it works,
(43:22):
if they like it, it'll be in the major leagues
in twenty twenty. You don't like it, no, I really don't.
And I get why. I understand. It's this whole time thing, right,
the games are taking too long. People wanted to move along.
I get all that, but then you really take away
like specialty guys who might be good just against lefties.
(43:44):
So I need him to come in and pitch two
a left handed batter in a big in a tight spot,
right he's great. Lefties can't hit another lefty if that's
your specialty, and so now he has to pitch to
that guy. And then two more guys, regardless if they're
batting lefty or righty right and maybe gets crushed by righty's.
I get where they're trying to. So you've seen the games, Chris, Yeah,
(44:06):
manager comes out, lefty up, bringing the lefty. Next guy
comes up, he's righty, bringing the righty. Next guy comes up,
he's elefty, bringing another elefty, you know. And then you're
watching an inning and all of a sudden, five guys
pitched up. Yes, six batters right. And that is what
slows down because you gonna remember, you gotta go out
(44:28):
to the mound, walk out to the mound, talk to
him in the bullpen. He comes out. Then there's another
commercial break because you gotta go and come make another
change after that about a warm up, and they all
got a warm up, but they all gotta come all
the way from the bullpen. So I get it ridiculous.
I look, I'm not a fan, a huge fan of
(44:50):
the rule, but for different reason. Look, I'm sorry, I
couldn't care less about saving the career of the pitcher
who can only pitch to left handed batters. I'm sorry,
how about I mean, did you grow up only pitching
(45:10):
the left handed batters? No? What? He seriously and the ridiculous,
the perfect example is and you're right, they would never
replace Mariano Rivera because he was facing a left hand
to hit her right because he could get everybody out.
I mean, I'm looking like the pitch against right handers.
So that's not my issue with it. That's like a
(45:32):
basketball player who can all he can do is dribble.
Is he gonna make it in the NBA? All he
can do is dribble? How about Dennis Robbin? All you
could do is play defense, rebound, play defense. But you
didn't have to just play him. But you remember six minutes,
you could play him the whole forty minutes. They could
just sub in and out, like he comes down for
(45:54):
defense and grabs rebound and then he runs off like
you know, like hockey when they changed the change on
the fly and then the other guy runs out onto
the court and he plays offense. You brought up a
g Glad you brought that up because you know how
at the end of games, every blue moon you see
the offense for defense, which is but that would be
what happens in Baseball's like if that happened throughout the game.
(46:19):
Like you got a guy who when you're on offense,
he's on the court. But then they get the other
team gets the rebound, they come down time out and
you switch it. No, I'm sorry, now my problem with it, Rob,
I just think there's a better solution. I think it's this,
and it's not perfected. But I'm gonna throw this at you.
And I think Buster Olney threw this out. There's an idea,
(46:42):
but I like it. Let me don't love Yeah, I
like it. I might love it. I might grow to
love all right, you know how you you grew to
love some you you actually only love one woman in
your life. But uh, why are you gonna make me no? Four?
Limit each team? Like them? Four? Each team to four pictures?
(47:09):
How about that? What if we only get four? If
what if a guy gets knocked out in the first
just all right, he gives up eight runs in the
first inning, he's out after a third of an inning. Well,
first of all, you don't have to leave him in
for eight runs. You know, you only get more to work.
But only got three three four pictures told of nine inning,
So you bring in your second one. Okay, So now
(47:30):
he got two after him. So he gives up eight
runs in the third of an inning. I'll bring in
the second guy. He gives up five runs and one.
Let's after one inning. Now I gotta pitch. I have
to pitch the other eight innings with the same two guys.
What up? They're bad? You know what I mean. People
would be like, this is ridiculous. We gotta keep a
minute watching twenty three to four games. You're older than
(47:52):
you're older than me, and you'll remember, I'm not even trying.
I wasn't trying to be funny. Your insult. You're you know,
five years old to me. We remember when it was nothing.
It was commonplace to see a picture pitcher complete game
all the time. Now it's like, you're the best thing
(48:13):
since slice bread. If you pitch complete. They don't even
let you pitch complete because they hit and they don't
take you out. So I'm just saying I don't want
to be like, oh, you know, Chris, you know we
want to go back to yesteryear and all that. But
I'm just saying four pictures is still a good amount.
Here's my on the other problem, and that means you
(48:34):
have to be strategic, right, you have to, like you said,
if one picture is getting shelled, you have to figure out, Okay,
do I want to go get rid of him now
or let him go a little bit longer because I
only have two pictures left or whatever. Yeah, but the
game is and then if you're a fan, I mean,
unless you're the team. If you're the team, Sian, you
probably gonna lose anyway. So here's my problem. Though they
(48:56):
did it with the inchech of the walk. Remember that, oh,
just go to first Pati instead of on the four ball.
So they're trying to speed the game up. But the
only problem is, who are you speeding the game up? Four?
I don't believe Chris. And this is just as a
baseball fan, a guy who goes to a lot of
games every year. When I go to a game, I
(49:16):
expect three hours. I just do. I'm not looking for
a fast game. I'm not looking for two hours and
ten minutes. I'm not. I go to the game knowing
I'm committing three hours minimum to a ball. But I'm
just just hearing me out. If the game goes long
and I have somewhere else to go or something to do.
(49:38):
You know what I do? I get up, I walk out,
and I listen to the rest on the radio. I
don't understand the whole notion. If it's only about time
and you want the game to be two hours, you
put it. You just you played for two hours, and
whatever the score is after two hours, that's the game.
I mean, because see, I don't think that's what what
what's the difference? That's what, that's what you're trying to accomplish.
(49:58):
Why don't you just do that? If it's a getting
the two hours, then play. You start the game at
seven h five and at nine oh five, no matter
what the score is, no matter if the other team
has a base is loaded, no matter what, the game's
over and you and you leave that The time thing
I don't get, because most people understand a baseball game
(50:19):
doesn't have a clock, well but times and look, Rob,
with all due respect, you're a senior citizen. No I'm not,
are you? You're legally a senior citizen. You get discounts
at Arby's. That girl all that that girl has some
nerve to give me a senior guy I mean, seriously,
you get this, people get up when you get on
(50:40):
the bus, people get out when I've seen it. No,
but I mean it's a different day rob these young kids.
And I know you're right. You go to the park,
you see young kids, and but people don't have as
much time as they used to to just leisure. We're
different society now. And I also don't think it's only
(51:01):
about the time. But have you say baseball is obviously
a slow game already, no doubt. But when you sit
in the stands, Chrisen's the last of time you sat
in the stands of the NFL game with the stoppage
of play and the commercials, it takes forever. Yeah. Maybe
I know you're not gonna like this, but football is
just more exciting. But there's less talks love the game.
(51:23):
There's more downtime between FLA No, I don't know, because
between pitches and between the play it's pretty close. I
bet you up. And now you've got a lot of
teams going no huddle is a much slower. When you
go to a one o'clock game, you don't leave until
four or fifteen. Yeah, but nobody mind. That's why I'll
be honest with you. I don't think the baseball can
(51:45):
say this, and maybe they mean it. To me. It's
not just about the time. It's about the fact that
baseball is a slow game and I can't change the game.
That's the game, but it is. But when we grew
up loving the game, we weren't seeing guys pitch the
one batter. We weren't seeing nine pictures in the game.
(52:05):
Is you gotta admit that right that when the game
was America's pastime, dudes could throw a complete game. Dude,
you didn't have eight pitchers per game. You didn't have Chris.
But the difference to is and you gotta admit this,
the differences. Every game wasn't on television when we were
growing up. And I know people find this hard to believe.
(52:27):
Every every baseball game so off the Mets. When I
was a kid growing up in New York, it would
be a treat for the Mets to be That's true.
So when you didn't have TV on those games, the
games went by way faster. They weren't. It was we're
a different society, get to everything. I'm just saying the
tip of our finger. The game, The game went by
faster now that every game is on television, it is
(52:49):
drawn out and there is a lot of commercials. There's
our pregame show, that our post games. I'm just saying
that every game is gone basketball. You can say this
anything about NBA, and that's not what you got. What
you got clock, So people feel like they're moving. There's
a car, but that's a clock. Will not be honest
to me. It's not just the length of the game,
(53:11):
all right, But I'm saying that's what pace of the
game is the not the nature of the game is
slow and you don't have to add things in to
make it even slower. And this is not just baseball.
I got a problem with some of these sports becoming
over specialized in general. You know, I've talked about it
with the NBA. I don't want just these specialists. Give
(53:31):
me a dude that can play basketball. So don't just
have a bunch of three pointers game. Yeah, you know,
let me get some mid range, let me get some
post play. So let's throw it out to you. I'm
passionate about this, and I know robbis too, and I
believe you are two eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty
(53:55):
from baseball fans who think that this is a good
idea to limit or handcuff of manager when there's a
matchup and then the manager can't put the lefty in
and the guy comes up and it's a home run
right off the right handed. People are gonna be like,
while we had a lefty there, but we couldn't put
him in. Hold on this would also look look this
(54:15):
or I heard manager saying, well, this takes away from
the strategic elements of the game. No, it's still strategic.
You just have to it's different strategy. Now I have
to figure Okay, the guy wanted to bring in Kenny
pitch to both lefties and righties. Is it worth bringing
him in because he's great against lefties, but he might
get shelled by the right no matter who's up there,
(54:37):
So strategy is still in it. We want to hear
from you eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Do
you like this new pitching rule from baseball or should
they do something differently or maybe leave it the same.
It's your turn away in a couple of Fox Sports Radio.

very class, very much so. I could think that's all
the time. The biggest anthems, right, yes, hands busiest anthems
in Popular American Popular. Yeah h I've been seven ninety
(56:00):
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine, nine, six sixty
three sixty nine is you're turning away in Let's get
started with Dwight in Kentucky you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Dwight? Hey, y'all doing
man good good there. I'm calling because I agree that
the picture changed situation with the coaches and stuff. I
(56:21):
think it's a bad I think it's a bad idea.
It's like it's like they're trying to speed everything up
like this whole the country. It's like Michael waves, you
know what I'm saying, Like some of us, some of
us fans, like we spend, we save up like maybe
for two games for the whole year, right, and then
we get huh no, I said, right then and then
and then it seems like they're trying to rush your stuarts.
(56:42):
But if you talk to any of the fans and
in the stands and stuff, like when I be at
the game or something, none of us are in a
hurry the league. They're talking about the plans. They got
to catch them all right, Dwight, how old are you real? Talk?
I mean I heard you. I heard you when you
got Chris Yere. I'm seeing you, just listening to see
so that I mean not mad at you. What do
(57:04):
you mean to like to go the BAX? I like
to go relax. We went to a game a couple
of years ago. Ron Dodgers say, it's fun, relax, But
the young folks are different. It's a different that just
groom differently. Hey Dwight, do you go up to the
Reds games? No? Um, I go around down here. I
go to UK and okay, Wisconsin. I used to go
(57:26):
to the Bucks and the Brewers man football real quick? No,
right piece, All right, let's go to Thomas in California.
Time as you know with Christ and Rob. What's up Fellers?
How you doing? Yeah? So you know the same thing
with basketball I think is similar to baseball as far
(57:46):
as you don't need to change things. You don't need
a pitching clock, you don't need a four point line
in basketball. What you need is the AU system and
the travel ball baseball to teach these kids to play
the right way. So guys can post stuff in basketball,
play defense. Pitchers can pitch to anybody, not just left
right right specialization. I agree with you, Tom, I mean,
(58:08):
are you saying on the younger levels that they specializing
like that too? Like you got you have thirteen year
olds who only pitched his lefties. No know what you
got thirteen year olds who only pitch, who don't play
at my right Thomas, who don't play a position or
don't play it. My stun is nine, okay, and he's
(58:28):
on the travel league team and he played shortstop and pitcher.
They want him to stop focusing on shortstop, just pitch.
That's ridiculous because you know what, the best player on
the team always played shortstop and pitched. That's ridiculous, right,
that's ridiculous. All right, thanks, Tom's good call. Let's go
to Evan in Indiana. Evan, you're on with the Eye couple.
(58:48):
I'm with you Chris on that. I think if you
can't pitch the lefties and righties, you have no reason.
Thank you. We're paying you millions and you can only
pitch to lefties. Yeah. I think that's one of the
what's ridiculous things in pro sports to have a lefty
ended specialists, right hand and specialists. I get it, I do,
But if you can't pitch the both of them, why
are you there? All right? Ivan appreciated. What about Cody
(59:10):
and Omaha, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up? Cody? Yo got a real quick or Chris
huge fan? They're watching you forever, you man, but I
disagree with you heavily. Right, Okay, and let me tell
you this. I'm a twenty five year old man. Behind,
I'm a young millennial, all right. A baseball does not
(59:33):
need a shot clock order decrease your time, dude. Baseball
is for love of the game. You want to play
those games. You want to have that chess match, that
chess match in baseball. You don't want to speed it up.
Add that four point line. That's what baseball is. Four
guys like Cody the game. Let me ask you this
because again, to me, it's not so much about the
(59:53):
time of the game. It's just about over specialization. Did
you like the fact that the Los Angeles Dodgers sat analytics? Right? Yeah,
but this is all related to analytics. They sat their
four leading home run hitters because they were facing a
left handed picture. No over specialization, right, I don't like that.
(01:00:17):
You gotta play your best players who are going to
hit your home runs. I don't like that. No, that
was a mistake. Games are too long. Yeah, I'm not so, Cody.
When I go to a game, I expect three hours minimum, right,
I expect three hours. Look, I'm not hung up on
the time. I mean, but that's what they're trying to do.
I'm just saying that that's what the that's their motivation,
(01:00:38):
motivation is they're trying to speed the game up. But
I think Cody may be unique too. He's twenty five. Right,
Let's go to Harrison in Colorado. Thank you Harrison. You're
one with Chris and Rob. What's up? What's right? Man?
How are you good? I love her show. Thank you.
I'm a diehard base of fan and grew up playing
(01:00:59):
it to call. I'm a die hard Rocky Span love
my Colorado Rockies. So the one thing about it, though,
is is that I grew up like you guys. I'm
forty nine. So for me, I grew up watching double headers.
I can watch doubleheaders every day at baseball, the musical
it's extrying to support to watch. I rather watch baseball
and football, basketball, pretty much anything but and so for me,
(01:01:21):
steaming up the game has never been an issue. I
think I'm fortunately we're trying to thump it down for
people that would no attention. Span. I'll be honest with you,
I think it's not about people have don't have a time.
That might be true, but I think it's more about
people just don't have attenching span the East. I think
that's a great that's a great point. That's true. Means
we're being groom not to have the same attention. You
(01:01:43):
know what, Harrison, is like, people don't watch TV anymore.
They flip channel, right, nobody want nobody, They just still
appoint is no more like you can watch it whenever
you want to watch, right, But you know you used
to just put it on and you will watch what
you call Now you're going fast forward. You don't even commercial.
I'm changing it. But Harrison, let me ask you this, Harrison,
(01:02:05):
what my main problems is what I think is over specialization.
That's my problem with you know, nine pitchers in the
game and all that can can we That's why I
suggested limited into four. I know that sounds crazy too,
but I just think there's and it's not just baseball.
I think it's basketball and to a lesser extent, football too.
(01:02:25):
I think there's too much over specialization. How do you
feel about that? To a certain I do clear that
I do not like what the Dodgers did last year
where they sat all that It was ridiculous, right, Yeah,
I don't I don't. I don't enjoy that. I don't
enjoy you know, a pitcher that can pitch onto the
left handers. But I know, but I don't want to
(01:02:46):
do it because you want to speed up the game,
you know, I don't want to. I would that, but
but I agree that there is too a specialization. I
remember when, like you know, two sconsins would touch three,
four and last four in. But now look makes sense, Rob.
What they're saying is, look, instead of me letting you
(01:03:06):
face a guy for the third time at bat, I'm
bringing in a fresh pitcher every two inning. Who's gonna
be throwing his hardest at you. Let's see another one?
And it's too much. Johnny and Saint Louis. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Donnie? Hey,
what's going on? Guys? So you're doing good? Hey my
big I'm a New York can't you fan? And I'll
(01:03:27):
tell you what my biggest. You brought it up a
little bit earlier about Mariano Rivera. Right, this issue was
if you got a guy that's pitching great, and it's
kind of to Christmas point, why do you have to
take like memor when Railroad come in for John Wetland
seventh and eighth, Dinny how everybody down the Wetland would
come in and it's almost like the bases are loaded
(01:03:47):
now and now we have to take problem out here.
Why do you have to take the guy out because
it's his end in the pitch. I'd never understood it.
Because they got some they got some status that show
he can only throw twenty five pitches or something top
at his top velossity struy, struggles. And we've seen this before, Donnie,
where a guy they don't want him to pitch the
(01:04:08):
third time around, he's pitching great, and they'll go, okay,
it's the sixth inning. No, you're coming out no matter what.
And you're like, because we know the numbers tell us right,
and they hit you the third time around, so they
take you out even though you're pitching a shutout. That's
my main problem. It's care about the length. Now, I
know we're younger people. Maybe they do care about the length.
(01:04:29):
It's not the length to me, it's just too much specialization.
Let's go one more. Brian and California. You're on with
Christ and Rob. Hey, Chris and Rob, Yeah, thank you.
You know I just want to touch base because I'm
I'm I'm with Chris on baseball. I mean, I'm thirty
two years old. I grew up watching it, but nowadays
(01:04:51):
I can't get my kids to watch it because it's
just too slow. Um, And that's that's my take on it.
You know, kids nowadays, my daughter's ten, and you watch
a game because the pitching change is just way too
slow or it takes too much time out of it.
Do you take them to the game as well? How
many kids you got, Brian, Well, I got two kids,
but I got a two year old and a ten
(01:05:12):
year old, and we go to the Dodger games and
my daughter just gets bored because of the pitching changes.
I would you know, Okay, that's fair, And I do
think baseball is a better sport in person, in person
than I can watch you any day. But I know
what you mean. Most people like that when you go
out there to the park. I used to love watching
it on TV as a kid, you know, Saturday afternoon
(01:05:34):
or something, but it's a little harder now. All right,
stars changing teams in the NFL, What does it mean
for the lines in Vegas? MGM Resorts VP Jay Rude
joins US Live next, but first let's get the Deab
Carson for what's trending. Deab all right, you guys, we've
got semi finals action and some of the tournaments in
the Big East. It's a two point game now. Xavier
(01:05:56):
leads Villanova fifty five fifty three of a minute and
I have to go in the game. The winner of
this matchup will face the winner of the Seaton Hall
Marquette matchup that tips off at the top of the hour.
Also semifinals matchup going on in the ACC, Florida State
leading at Virginia forty nine to forty five with about
twelve to go in that game. Quarterfinals action in the
Big Ten, Minnesota leads Perdue fifty nine fifty two with
(01:06:19):
eleven to go in the game. Semifinals in the Big
twelve as well, KSE State with a forty nine forty
five lead over Iowa State, and in the SEC still
in the quarter finals matchup there, Kentucky with a fifty
one thirty sixth lead over Alabama thirteen to go. Did
have a big upset earlier today in the SEC, Florida
top to LSU seventy six seventy three so the Gators
(01:06:41):
will advance to face Auburn in the semifinals. Auburn beat
South Carolina seventy three sixty four. Have some NBA action
underway as well. Lakers are without Lebron James tonight and
they are visiting Detroit right now. Pistons in control fifty
five forty seven over LA, eight to go in the third,
five to go third in Philadelphia six Ors with a
(01:07:02):
seventy seven seventy three lead over the Kings, and it's
a twenty point lead already for the Hornets at Washington
eighty one sixty six to go. Third quarter, Bucks trailing
at the heat. This is a surprise. Miami with a
thirty five fourteen lead over Milwaukee with a minute to
go in that matchup. No Chris Paul tonight for the Rockets.
They and the Suns are not at a twenty three
apiece two to go in the first. Your check engine

suspended Browns running back Kareem Hunt eight games for violating
the personal Conduct policy in the Kansas City Chart. Kansas
City Star broke the story. Chiefs receiver Tyree Hill under

investigation by police for an alleged battery incident involving a
juvenile belief to be his son. He has not been
charged with anything. It's important to note Dolphins traded Ryan
Tannehill to the Titans. After acquiring Tannehill, the Titans release
quarterback Blaine Gabbert. We'll be back with the Odd Couple

We always love to bring in our man. He's the
MGM Resorts VP of Race and Sports, also the co
host of Behind the Book, none other than Jay Rude.
Jay was happening. What's happening today? Hey, how's it going? Guys?
(01:08:55):
It's going pretty good here in Vegas. We got a
bunch of live basketball here in Vegas because the middle
of conference championships, it's a good week. Yeah, yeah, I bet,
I bet. But let's let's move to the NFL. We'll
get to college basketball in a moment. But look, Jay,
in the last week, I've seen the Steelers Super Bowl
eyes drop from twenty five to one to thirty to
(01:09:16):
one after trading away Antonio Brown. The Browns odds jump
from twenty five to one to fourteen to one after
acquiring Odell Beckham, junr. Is it safe to say, you
guys at him, GM will have the Browns as the
favorites in the AFC North this season. You know, I
don't know. I mean, we haven't reacted that severely on
(01:09:38):
the Steelers. We're still at eighteen to one on the Steelers.
We've got the Browns at twenty to one, so there's
still a lot of stuff that can happen, you know
what I mean, you got the draft coming up. There
could be some trades that happen in the draft, and
you know you're not gonna find an Antonio Brown out there,
but you could find a guy that could be good
enough and turn into the next Antonio Brown. So, uh,
(01:10:00):
you know there's still some of the mindset the Browns
are gonna have to beat me before I really start
to make them any kind of real playoff contenders. Smart man,
smart man. So you feel like the High Republic is
overestimating the impact of these traits and and and I'll
throw into Levian Bell signing in that too. Are we
(01:10:21):
all overestimating all three of these moves? Um? Yeah, I
mean you know a lot of times, you know, teams
do addition by subtraction, so you know you can't help.
But notice that, you know, the last year or so, Uh,
the Steeler locker room has been kind of a mess.
So I mean, if they're cleaning it up and they're
you know, definitely gonna stick with you know, Big Ben
(01:10:43):
and uh, you know Tomlin is going to start to
resurrect the team that you know can make a deep run.
I still think you know, there's not too many organizations
that are better than the Steeler organization, you know, from
the ownership all the way down. So um, you know,
they've had they've had some lumps, they've had some personality issues,
but um, I think they recognize it and they're figuring
it out. Hey, Jay, March Madness kicks off on Tuesday.
(01:11:05):
How big do you guys expect the handle of be
in Vegas? Is expecting record setting or about the usual? No,
I think it's gonna be Uh. I think you know,
the tournament looks to be wide open, right, I mean
if Duke uh, you know, and doesn't kind of a
do what everyone thinks they're gonna do, it's who you know,
(01:11:27):
good luck picking h ten teams you might be, you know,
pick the team that is going to face them. So
it's pretty good wide open. But I think with the
passing of sports betting all over, you know, in different jurisdictions,
it's going to drive some people to come to you know,
like I always say, the mecca of sports betting is
still Las Vegas, and I think we're gonna see a
lot of people show up. You know, we have people
(01:11:47):
that this is their annual passage right, So the mecca
for them. They come here for twenty straight years. We
got four or five guys that come to the Mirage
and they bring up a box of hats. They already
figured out who they're gonna know bet in the first round.
The practice come out and they go buy hats for
every team that they're going to bet and root on
while they watch the game. Wow. All right. So sold
(01:12:08):
to follow up on that, I want to ask you
about Duke has been the favorite to win the tournament
basically all season. They had a rough patch without Zion Williamson.
What he's back and you saw how well he played
and healthy. Now did their odds change much when Zion
was hurt or did you guys kind of always expect
that he back be back for the tournament? Yeah? Well,
(01:12:31):
I mean they were sitting at eight to five. We
raised them up to nine to five. Um, you know,
and when you're talking about a team that was you know,
in the neighborhood of you know, top price for the
year was I think six to one with us, and
then they dropped to below three to one pretty much.
I want to say, right after Halloween or or you know,
(01:12:52):
beginning of November. So Um, you know, that's a pretty
decent adjustment, especially when you know you're getting into the
nitty gritty of this of the season. But yeah, we're
still at nine to five. But I think that's you know,
I've been saying it all year. That's created a tremendous
value on other teams that are super high quality teams.
I mean, Gonzaga at four to one, even though they lost,
(01:13:15):
you know to Saint Mary's. You know North Carolina eight
to one. You've got Virginia is the next closest to
him at five to two, which I mean Virginia. If
they put on any kind of performance like they have
been lately, you know, you gotta believe they're gonna be
there a dam two. So you know, we didn't overreact
and make Duke like back five to one like they
(01:13:36):
were pre preseason. So, uh, you know we're not gonna
get burned on that. We realized that, you know, this
is his one year to shine and he's got to
still kind of go out there and perform and show
that he's a clutch guy in games that really count. Jay.
I know the Rockets offs earlier to Golden State, but
they finished a regular season three and one against them.
Is that something you'll take into account when you set
(01:13:58):
the lines if those two teams meet again in the playoffs,
you know, I mean a little bit um. You know,
I've always I'm not a huge guy that takes historical
figures into consideration, like when someone goes, oh, hey, a
team is you know, twelve and four against his team
over the last four years. But maybe that involves, you know,
significantly different personnel, significantly different coaches. But I do take
(01:14:23):
into consideration if a team, you know, if you've played
four times, that's a pretty good sample, and uh, you know,
one team's won three of those four, and if they've
been significant victories, You've got to take that in consideration
because you know, matchups are matchups and they can continue
to be that. You know. That's why I was talking
to a guy earlier about moneyball, right, I mean, moneyball
(01:14:44):
looks really good in one hundred and sixty two games.
But moneyball, you know, the best three out of five
doesn't work so good or five out of you know,
the four out of seven. So you know, because so
many wild things can happen, and that's that's the case
in every sport. Jay Gray stuff is all Hey, Jay,
I should have been in Vegas to bet because I've
bet said that the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs. I
(01:15:05):
would have won a lot of money, right, you would
have won a lot of money because the public was
jumping on that like crazy. We missed Lebron signed. Everybody
you know was getting out there. Uh you know, the
old yellow and purple and going crazy. So uh yeah,
anytime you can go contrarian, it's always a smart move usually. No, Jay,
(01:15:26):
let me ask you quickly. We got about thirty seconds.
What about the Arrow Spins Mikey Garcia fight? What's that
looking like? Uh? Uh? You know Arrow is a big,
big favorite right now. We we need him. We've got
a lot of guys looking to bet that have been
bet and Mikey Garcia. But I've got a pretty significant,
(01:15:46):
uh six figure wager coming in on Arrow, I think
coming in tomorrow morning. Uh, We're probably gonna be pretty
balanced on that. But I think you know it's gonna
be a hell of a fight. You know, always gotta
go on one of them. So I Mikey, is you
know a really good chance? I think you know we're
price a little bit high, but I think you know,
the popularity of the of the larger bets are going
(01:16:07):
to come in on Arrow for sure, and that's kind
of why we had that baked into the fourth dollar price.
All right, Jay, we appreciate it as always, man, great stuff. Yea, anytime, guys,
we'll buck you next week. All right, it's the Eye

That was right, this is big yo. But this was

he's on that what she's on the show now? Construction

Let's talk about Zion Zion. He's he's is he already
(01:17:39):
on one name? He is one name status. Well, but
he has such a unique name. Do you know anybody
named Zion? Do you? Uh? That's so, Nathan, here's somebody
religious name. I don't know anybody personally name Zion. I
remember there was a rap group Zion Zion and I
(01:18:00):
I think was their name or something like that. Good.
They were good. But there was the movie. Because there's
more churches name Zion Zion. Yeah, that's a big church
name than people name Zion. But you're right that that
certainly asked me. But that's good. It seems like a
lot of the greats have had these different Lebron How
(01:18:22):
many people you know named Lebron? Kobe I'm not trying
to say he's gonna be one of them. Yeah, please
don't get but I'm just saying magic. How many people
you name? No name magic. But it's funny. Everybody who
knows they called Irvin, they called him Irving. Everybody like
his friends. Nobody even Irvin is a you know, nobody
called him a different type of name. So yeah, last night,
(01:18:47):
Rob the legend of Zion Williamson just grew even more
first game back from weeks off, and the dude goes
twenty nine points, thirteen for thirteen, thirteen for thirteen from
the floor, fourteen rebounds, five steals. This dude is special, man.
(01:19:11):
The only question, the only question about him at the
next level, nobody really is asking. Everybody that I've talked
to says he's gonna be number one in the league.
Is his jumper and his jumper is not broken. It's
just not a knockdown shooter, but it's not a bad jumper.
And you see Blake Griffin now they playing the Lakers,
he's shooting playing they blowing him out. He's shooting threes.
(01:19:35):
Jason Kidd became a great, good three point shooter, so
you can develop develop that shot. And we talked to
most people think Zion will this dude could be something special.
We talked about that with Patrick Ewing. He have a
thirteen points at Georgetown, played with his back to the
basket and wound up being one of the best shooting
big men we've ever seen in the Nbami range. Jay
(01:19:56):
no question. Absolutely, Yeah, so it's not impossible. Yeah, I
like him and Rob. I'm telling you, I don't know
if have you changed your tune that if the Knicks
get the number one pick, bye bye Zion, bye bye.
If I could get Anthony day Out, if you don't
get Kyrie, I'm saying it all through. But if you don't,
(01:20:17):
if I was still still, if you don't Anthony Davis,
you wouldn't do it. If you don't, Nah, I would
only do it if I if I had put together
those two guys and I could add a third star.
You know, everybody think starting to think Zion gonna step
in and do damage. The difference between the Knicks and
most teams, And the Knicks don't have to sell tickets.
They despite not winning, they already sell tickets. But my
(01:20:39):
thing with Zion is he can be You saw it
last night he doesn't. He's not ball dominant, and a
lot of these young stars. RJ. Barrett is somewhat ball dominant.
A lot of these young stars need to have the
ball in their hands, and Zion can be wildly effective
without it. And if Kyrie and KYD go to New York,
you're gonna need that third guy to be able to
(01:20:59):
function comfortably wet the ball a D. I mean, look,
I'm not I want potential. Well, I think he'd be.
I look, I'm not mad at a D. Kyrie and KD.
Don't give me what I'm saying. That's a good trio.
You gotta admit. Also, it would take a lot of
adjustment for those three, and they could do it. That's
what you have to do, and sometimes that's Big threes
(01:21:22):
fit naturally, Some fit natural. Kareem U Magic and James
Worthy fit together naturally because their skills. Garnett, Kevin Garnett,
Ray Allen and Paul Pierce fit together naturally because their
skills were complimentary. The one big Threes to have trouble
and they make look. Lebron and Wade didn't fit together naturally.
(01:21:44):
They were both so good And you're right, I mean,
if you get A D, Kyrie and KD. You're gonna
have a shot. There's no if, sayings or buts about
And if you get a championship after not winning one
for since seventy three, and because all it would take
would be one, no one would cry over zion, do
you know what I mean? Like, no, it would. They
would not be any of that. It's just about getting
(01:22:06):
a championship. And if they had those three players, people
in New York would go crazy. Oh they't theyin't go

we got a special guest on the line. He's the
author of a new book. It's called Pressure, How to
Avoid Life's Challenges. It's available on Amazon. His name is
Twiny Beckham and he was a member of the two
thy twelve national championship team with the University of Kentucky. Twiny,
(01:23:10):
welcome top, How y'are doing man? Thanks for bringing me home. Man,
I really appreciate it, no problem. Congratulations on the new book.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. How you doing.
I'm doing good? And I was gonna say I met
twenty Chris. He's friends with our boy, Tory girl. Right,
and uh, let's start with your story and the book,
(01:23:34):
and then we'll talk about some college basketball, March Madness,
you played with Anthony Dave. It's a lot of stuff
we'd like to get into. But uh, talk about your
career and what happened. You're at Kentucky ready for your
senior year, right about to get ready for your senior year.
You wake up one morning and you can't feel your legs.
(01:23:54):
What happened? Yes, so I, um, I just to go
back to um. You know when me and Tory man
and preps group, you know, we both had a dream
of you know, playing ball in the SEC. You know
Tory under scoldship to go play in South Carolina and
then I understotship to go Paymisshion State, And so my
second year there, I had to undergo double hip surgery.
They found bone spurs on both of my hips, so
(01:24:16):
I completely lost my entire sophomore season. So I come
back as a third, third year sophomore starting point guard.
I just decided to transfer, and I was luckily and
blessed to go um to have the opportunity to go
back to Kentucky to play for coach Kalasha and Kentucky.
That year, we had a group of incredible freshman coming in,
(01:24:39):
you know, Michael kid, Gilcrest, Anthony Davis, Terrence Jones, Marcus Teague.
We had an incredible team and was able to win
the national championship. You know, I played some being a transfer.
Coach cal was trying to stick me in. It was
really hard to crack the rotation because I didn't get
the other bunch of January. So I knew after we
won a national championship, then my senior year was going
(01:25:01):
to be the opportunity for me to really step in
and really make a name for myself. And a couple
of weeks before season was to start. I woke on
one morning into my dorm room and I couldn't feel
my legs. So wow, yeah, yeah, I couldn't feel my legs. Man.
So I, um, I go, I go go to the
MRI and the doctor tell me basically, you know, your
career is over. You got two hundred ated this in
(01:25:21):
your back, and it was really really devastating. Wow, wow,
your career was over anymore after that? No, I've never
even I've never even tried to play anymorefter that. Man.
It was such a devastating time of my life. Man,
I just you know, was at a point in my
lights where you know, as an athlete, um, you know,
you go through your entire career, in your entire journey,
(01:25:42):
thinking you're gonna go to the NBA, you know, And I, uh,
you know, I was telling Rob the other day when
we had actually had a time a chance of sitting
there and talk face to face. You know, I grew
up with you know, Derek, and I said, me and
Region Rondo are really close, and so every summer where
in Region would come back home to Louisville. Man, you know,
I worked out with them. I played one on one
with them five on five. You know, Rayyan, you need
(01:26:03):
to always tell me, man, you're six five point girl.
You got the opportunity to really make some noise and
get to the league, and then so to suffer those injuries, man,
and have it off going away and mid over night,
that was very devastating. How long did it take you
to kind of get your bearing straight and figure out
what you wanted to do next since basketball was no
longer an option. It was tough, Chris Um. That's why
(01:26:27):
I love what I do now, you know. Um, you
know it was tough because I do what do you
do now? I do know, I speak, I go around
and I travel, I get book to get book to
go out and speak about this type of stuff. You know.
I love telling kids, man, really really have a checking
option because just like myself, you just don't know when
it's over. When it's over, it's over, and it's a
hard for me. It was a hard stop and so
(01:26:49):
you know, when I suffered the injury, and in that
year at Kentucky, it was the year we went to
the n I t was my senior year. It was
really hard watching my teammates go through that. But I
didn't know what I was going to do. And through
that whole healing process and rehab bullistation process for me,
I just started writing, writing down all my thoughts, not
really understanding that I was writing a book. And so
when I graduated in twenty thirteen, I released my first
(01:27:11):
book called Full for Pressure, Conquer and Diniversity under Pressure,
and it gave me a sense of purpose. You know,
I was able to realize that I have a story.
And so that's when I started traveling and speaking and
you know, making appearances and stuff like that. And then
that was the next challenge and phase of my life
is really trying to figure out, man, what am I
really going to do after you know, the momentum for
(01:27:31):
this book is over with, how can I really serve
a purpose in this world? Because basketball was no longer
part of my life. But I'll stay connective, you know,
with my friends like Anthony Davis, Jon Rondo, a lot
of guys that I played with. You know, they just
keep telling me, man, you you know, you you serve
a purpose, man, keep pushing. And that's what this next book,
Pressure was about. It's about you know, I had this
(01:27:52):
pressure for me to make it to the NBA. You know,
to help my family get out of the situation where
we Then I'm from the projects just like Jon, and
so it was tough. You know, I had all the
pressure on me is my family, all my friends, everybody
thought I was gonna be that next guy in lines
make it. And when I didn't make it, like you
asked me, Chris, it was what was I going to
do next? And then that I kind of figured that out.
(01:28:13):
I put all that information in the book of everything
I went through, everything I thought about, everything I've been
able to see, vision, the opportunities I've had to come
up at the play basketball. But the new thing about
Pressure is I was able to diversify, you know, kind
of the information that I was, you know, employed in
my book. I was able to interview so many other
(01:28:36):
different people from so many other different walks of life
and allowed them to use my platform to share those
stories about outcoming adversity. So no matter you know, if
you're rich, black or white, poor, you know you're gonna
in my book Pressure, You're gonna be touched in some
way because, in some form, shape or fashion, somebody has
gone through, probably something that you've even gone through in life,
(01:28:57):
but that you're going to go through and so a
lot of people are to all. I read a couple
of them last night. I got to copy of the
book and I did read some of the other where
the kids would write about the pressures they faced. Now
that's great. Where it's the eye couple. We're joined by
Twiny Beckham, member of the two and twelve national championship
team with the University of Kentucky. Twenty you played, as
(01:29:20):
you said, with Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd, Gilchrest, Marcus Teague.
He was a freshman coming in that was a really
bally hood class. Let me ask you this, how does
Calipari handle when you have freshmen, several of them that
are known to be one and done. They're going straight
to the pros this college John Calipari coached them, you know,
(01:29:44):
like he would coach kids that you expect to be
there three or four years, or does he you know,
lay off of him? How does he handle that type
of talent when you know it's only gonna be there
one year? Right? That's a great, Chris, because now in
Mississippi State and I was kind of you know, I've
been a Kentucky fan my whole life and kind of
watching from the outside of looking in, and I've always
wondered as well. And so when I transferred third and
(01:30:06):
I was in, you know, part of the team and
a part of the mix, it was kind of interesting
to see man coach cal coach his best players the hardest,
you know anty today. But it's like said Michael Terrence,
all those to Marcus. You know, Marcus t keep coach
the hardest I ever see him coaching anybody. You know,
Marcus came in and was an unbelievable player, but coach
(01:30:27):
Marcus only take two dribbles and get the ball up
where he was coming out completely had completely changed the
man's game. But he knew that. Marcus knew in order
from him for us to win a national championship, he
had to play like that. And that's college great at
he's great at the finding roles, and he's great managing
people's egos. And that year, man, all the egos are
(01:30:50):
thrown at the door from day one. You know, we
did a lot of team bonding. We around pal a lot,
and that's just the specially man were in the show
by winning the national championship. Not the guy like it,
a guy like Anthony, not saying a guy like Anthony
Davis who didn't care about even touching the ball on
the officsive in, man, But I think it has a
lot to do with coach Cow just kind of helping
(01:31:10):
him to find his role and you know, throwing that
all the egos at the beginning of the season. I'm
always the thing about coach Cow and you guys got
a championship and you won. But he's got a lot
of star players and other than the one. Are you
surprised that he's only won the one championship and not more?
Consider keeping read I'm not I'm not saying I'm not
(01:31:32):
asking you to rip him now. I'm yeah, I'm just
saying right and he's ripping If not, go ahead, no,
I'm you know, we talked about this since the night Robber.
You know, it's hard to win a national championship, especially
in college basketball. Man. You know, any team on any
given night can you get high and can beat you,
(01:31:53):
and so it really takes a lot of you know,
cohesiveness is the team coming together and a lot of
people being a lot of players has been on the
same page to win the national championship. And it's hard.
And Kyle gets the best players. Like I know we
say in each year in and out and it's you know,
each and every year and it self bringing those gays
togetherment to even get to being happy playing with each other.
(01:32:17):
Let's know, when the national championship is harm Man, So
I love Kyl like like I told you other night,
ro Man, the guy's special. Um. I know, I know
a lot of people say he should have more than
one national championship, but you know it is what it
is called the best balls really hard to win in
every year twenty you know Anthony Davis, well, obviously there's
you know, he's right in the middle of one of
(01:32:38):
the biggest stories of the season, controversies to trade demand
from New Orleans. A lot of people are saying, this
isn't him, This isn't his personality, this isn't who is what? Yeah,
they're saying, like for him to demand the trade that,
you know, that's what people think. Is this him? I mean,
is this the guy that you know you've always known
(01:33:02):
or has he changed a little bit? This isn't Anthony Davis.
You know, I was kind of shocked. Um. You know,
you know, we all got our group cats and I
was even speaking to region a little bit about this,
um rondo a little bit about this, and I was like, man,
this guy coming out requesting the trade publicly is not
Anthony Davis. Um. You know Anthony, the guy that's very humble.
He had to change. Like I said, me and him
(01:33:23):
was has maintained our relationship man, Alex I was. I
spent a little bit um time with him this summer
when he was out in La and um, you know,
for him to to come out public and request the trade, man,
it kind of threw me off guard. I was kind
of shocked by it. And you know, I sent him
a text and I just told him, Man, if if
this is truly your decision to you know, to go
to La, man, let it be your decision other than
(01:33:45):
don't let anybody else guts you into doing that. What
do you think like he's gonna end up doing? You
know this summer? I mean, is he really sold out
on playing for the Lakers. I'm not sure we actually
never had that can say. You know, I try to
stay kind of stay out the mix right now because
that's he's going through a lot. I know he's going
through a lot of pressure. So I don't you know,
(01:34:06):
every time I send him a text or something like that. Man,
and just keep your head up, keep crying everything. Everything's
gonna work yourself out. You know, I don't kind of
want to get into me. You really want to play
Lebron and all the type of stuff I could stat
to mix the pat Hey, let me let me ask
you about March Madness, which is uh uh underway, and
of course the tournament starts on Tuesday. Uh do you
(01:34:27):
are you still a big follower of college basketball? And
what do you think of Zion Williamson when you watch him? Yeah? Sorry,
I'm excited. Man, I'm a big, a huge follower the basketball.
Like so, I love college in the NBA. And actually
Kentucky just went off many we just beat Alabama. Um,
but I think Diane Williamson man is huge. Man. I
think a lot of people kind of you know, when
he went out with his injury and Duke kind of
(01:34:49):
struggled a little bit, not wrote them off and kind
of raising the eyebrows and said, man, this dude, team
is really not that good. But when you got a
guy that's you know, average and dangna twenty points in
team giving you tw in ten, that's a lot of
points to be missing from the lineup, even though they
do have three elements to all Americans. So with him
being you know, integrated back into the lineup, and I
know y'all watch the game last night, it's already done.
(01:35:11):
I think it's really hard to be due in a tournament.
I know people say that can't shoot, and some teams
are going to try his own, but you know, I don't.
I don't necessarily think that's gonna be the rest of
people be didn't do when you got Zion Williams in
the lineup, I got one one more question for you
to our last one twenty you raised the round. Though
you know him well, you know, everybody looks at him
(01:35:31):
as kind of a problem guy in the NBA. You
know he's hard on coaches. He has had his run
ins with coaches. What is he you know, what is
he like in those situations? Why do you think he's
had such run ins with coaches and things like that.
I think Jon is very well misunderstood. And at the
end of the day, if you sit and have a
(01:35:51):
conversation with Region, he's always gonna come back to me.
Just want to And he's very competitive and I know
a lot of people kind of credit you know, his
ACQS being it's very very high and on the level
that we haven't seen in a long time, on the
point guard level. And it's just he just wants to win.
Like I every time I get a chance to have
a conversation when I was out here, actually I heard
a couple of weeks ago, you know, they played the
(01:36:12):
Phoenix Suns and just sitting and having dinner with him, Man,
I'm just like, he just wants to win, you know.
So everything that he does is kind bought it up
and wanted to win. And I think if he's didn't
have a conversation with him, he would he would tell
you that. And I think he's just missunderstood a lot.
All right, twenty thanks for your insight, man, real good stuff,
great stuff and appreciate it. And again this book is
(01:36:32):

call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard
(01:38:24):
part is figuring out which way is easier. And Rob,
there was news out of Utah. We know what happened
with Russell Westbrook and the fan earlier this week when
Westbrook went off on some guy and the guy had
said to him, get down on your knees like you
(01:38:47):
used to. If he said like you used to, it's racial,
we assume, because is that a reference to picking cotton,
slavery whatever. Or if he said like you're used to,
is it a homophobic slur? Yeah, you know, I really
didn't know right. Either way, it's bad, It's not right.
(01:39:08):
And Uh this fan Sean Kaisel, was banned from the
Utah Jazz is Uh Arena for the rest of his life.
I know they the Saut Palace anymore, but the Delta Center,
the Saut Palace. Yeah, I don't even know the name
of it. Vivit Smart Home arena at Delta Ring have
(01:39:31):
the same ring as Salt Palace, or have even Delta
cent Delta Center was named after Delta Airline. But the
Salt Palace, that's a great name. But anyway, so not
only the Jazz their ownership. I ought to give him credit.
Uh Gail Miller who's now the owner. You know, her
husband Larry had died. She was really emotional about it
(01:39:55):
and went out of her way to just you know,
we're not racist, out of racist community because I understand,
you know what, I give a credit to Chris, because
you don't want to get a reputation in Salt Lake
City that you can't like black free agents don't want
to go there, and so it's already of town. A
(01:40:16):
very few blacks exactly, a history of Mormonism was raped.
You know, they up until the late seventies, they said
blacks are cursed and stuff like that, until they saw
how well we played football and basketball changed. Okay, some
brothers at BYU no, but but anyway, so they she
went out of her way, and good for her that
you know, we're not racist and all that. Uh, And
(01:40:40):
so what came out today was that remember that incident
last year where Westbrook had a tip for tat with
a fan and on the video, the fan is heard
calling Westbrook boy, and westbrooks not BOI nobody old? Why
(01:41:01):
you yeah? And Westbrook told him don't call me boy,
and the fan did it again. Westbrook told security as
he should have, and the security dealt with him. But
that was a year ago, and the Jazz announced today
that they are banning that fan as well from the
(01:41:22):
Vivid Smart Home arena. I say, good for them. And
you know, I don't know if some of our callers think,
well he just called him boy, that's a racial slur
in a certain context. It's not saying if I say
robs my boy, that's a different context. It's about the context.
It's like he might as well have called him the
N word. Seriously, No, I got it, because that's the
(01:41:44):
history of this country calling you know, black men boys,
grown black men, little boys, old white boys calling grown
black men boy. And it was a way to, you know,
keep black men from becoming men. And so Westbrook, it
was definitely a racial slur. And I say, I salute
the Jazz for doing what they did. And the whole
(01:42:06):
thing is, fans have a right as long as you don't,
as long as it's not racial, as long as it's
not gross or are overly profane. You know, their kids
and women at these games. But if you want to
boo and be have some display, I don't have a
problem with that for fans. I don't think that fans
have to be polite and you can't say anything or
(01:42:29):
try to make a guy miss a free throw. That's
a part of the game, okay, right, But the racial stuff,
the offensive stuff, the homophobic stuff, we don't need all that.
We just don't. And I think that's where they got
a police the fans. And also the one thing, and
I know Draymond Green said something about the NBA finding players.
(01:42:50):
It's not for the players to take law into their
own hands. Just you don't want to go in the stands.
You don't want to touch anybody you own, you don't,
you have a lot of money, There could be a lawsuit.
It's gonna cost you do not do that. Point it out,
just like Westbrook did in the video. That guy right there,
(01:43:12):
point them out. Let's security take them out of the building, right,
that's the best way to handle it. And I say,
the fans look like you said, Rob, you can be
critical the players, you can heco players all that. Be
creative though the lowest common than not a racial joker,
you know, sexual joke or something a family, you know,
(01:43:32):
killing their family. Be creative. Some of the some guys
who've been creative throughout the years, they've actually gotten a
little name for themselves in Washington, and they were fans
who people like, and even the players like laughing. Right,
if you're funny money, right, Yeah, the players will have
to laugh. You know, they'll give you your problems if
(01:43:52):
you say something you might criticize them, but it's funny,
but it's the way you do it. And I agree
with that. But I would never be against like fans
can't can't be critical. We're not getting onto all that.
It's the it's the other stuff that's out of bounds, right,
And that's what we've been seeing. And you're right for
the jazz to do that in Salt Lake City and
say no, no, no, we're not going to accept this.
(01:44:15):
We're not gonna have our community because of a couple
of bad apples be painted a certain way, right, no question.
You've seen it in Boston, right, remember with uh Jones
from the Orioles and stuff, when they would call them
names from the from the crowd of Adam Jones, right,
right right. Let me throw this out to the Mormons
or the people of Utah. I know they changed their
(01:44:38):
laws their rules regarding blacks out of the kindness of
their heart, so that a joke about us being able
to hoop right right, Please do not email Chris brusson
Radio dot com. I'm gonna disrespect your faith. I'm assume
I'm gonna give you the benefit of doubt. You did
it out of the kindness already writing Chris, but we
(01:45:02):
gotta let you hit a lunch. Rob Parker was not involved.
Rob Parker did not no, but norbody told me that
I ain't getting no checks from upstairs. Wait a minute,
just saying it, but I got one and saying muzzle, Chris,
what are you doing? Rob? We gotta give you a
chance to weighing eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox

Ony seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Are the jazz doing the right thing? Should fans that
cross the line be banned and is that the way
you handled. As long as players don't go in the
stands and fans don't come on the court or the field,
security should be involved, But should fans be punished and
banned for foul language. We will continue the conversation with
(01:45:45):

of draft picks, a seventh rounder this year, a fourth
rounder in twenty twenty twenty twenty, and then after acquiring Tannehill,
the Titans released Blaine Gabbert. We had heard earlier today
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says it's unlikely Clayton Kershaw is
(01:47:56):
going to be ready to pitch opening day, and the
Indians say reliever Tyler Clippard is out three to four
weeks with a pectoral strain, and Bryce Harper has a
right foot contusion after being hit on the angle by
a pitch during a Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays.
We'll be back with the odd couple in ten seconds,
But first a word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance. We
know a roof can withstand a lot, one exception being
(01:48:19):
an airborne car. I've seen it, covered it, doctor, Farmers.
We are Farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance Exchanges
and affiliates. Products unavailable in every state. This is Fox
Sports Radio's the Odd Couple. Chris Bruce Sard, Rob Parker.
Back to you and have a great weekend. Thank you,
Deb you as well. We wanted to shout out Iowa.
Nathan two. Iowa stayed with the big upset in the
(01:48:42):
Big Twelve tournament. They took down the number one seed
Kansas State. Unbelievable. And I was saying, Nathan even has
on cyclone colors. It's not you want to say something
looking at grabbing him. Oh yeah, I gotta support my
cyclones there. That a rough started with season. Why did
you wear Ioway Stay shirt? What's that is that? Iowad
(01:49:02):
stay shirt to This is an staht Magic is coming
on the front. Yep, it's Hilton Magic. That's the thing.
How in the world am I supposed to know? That's
how Iowa Stay shirt? You got a cyclone on there?
How many cyclones are in the college basket in Iowa? Now, man,
you in LA. I don't nobody La. No, that's the
Iowa state um nickname. I thought that was magic Johnson
(01:49:25):
is coming. I don't know what happens to be the
same colors the Iowa Stay colors. But all right, all right,
no Hilton Magic all the way it cycle. How that's
just a couple of years, a couple of years. He
had to say, you like it? Oh, I love it.
I see I see a congratulations you got go there?
(01:49:46):
He goes there. I do not go there. Actually the no, no, no,
I go to Bradley University, which also made the tournament.
By the way, shout out to brad Shout out Bradley
pre Illinois. Well, congratulations on two uh fronts. All right,
it's your turn the way in after I do this
read coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It is the eye couple. It's easy to
(01:50:08):
say fifteen percent or more on your car shoots with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven Auto. The only hard party is figuring out
which way is easier. You'll turn the way in? Did
you talk? Get it right? When they banned not only
the fan from this week who got into it with
Russell Westbrook, but from a year ago, a year ago
(01:50:30):
who shouted a racial slur at him, not the N word,
but called him boy. Let's get to you eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, Jason in Salt Lake City,
all looking out there listening to us out there. What's up, Jason, Hey,
how's it going? Fellars? Yeah, of course were listening out
Eric all right, we like we got love for Salt Lake, Sa.
I just wish y'all would go back to being the
(01:50:52):
Salt Palace. That's right. I love the Salt Palace. You know.
You know what that's punny that you're bringing on up
because I was part of what I was gonna say
is you know, I'm I'm I'm from rural Utah but
lived in Salt Lake for probably, you know, fifteen twenty
years that a diehard jazz guy Salt Palace days stalked
into them alone and for that to happen, Um, it's embarrassing.
(01:51:14):
I mean, it's embarrassing that you would think that in
two thousand and nineteen that someone would sit in an
arena with twenty thousand people and think that it is
okay to ever say something like that, and then you
give you know, Utah has a reputation for it's not
the first time, right, um, and so it it's it's
disheartening and it hurt, you know, if it makes you
(01:51:36):
feel bad, because there are a lot of good Utah
fans that love the game and they love their jazz,
you know, for basketball reasons. Is everything you're is, everything
you're hearing from. You know, you're around and you hear
people talk about it. Are people with what the jazz
did or they you know, they just went over the
(01:51:57):
line or whatever? Yeah? No, Um, you know all the
ones that that I you know, all my friends, ones
that I associate with, and the ones that I know
absolutely one they're behind it. Because here's the thing. When
you look at a heckler or you know, I mean,
I'm not a heckler, Like I go to the game
to enjoy the game. I don't go there to hear someone.
(01:52:18):
And I get everyone has their opportunity, They've paid their money.
I'm not. I'm not just cleaning it. But for me, Um,
I go to enjoy basketball. I go to get into
the game. I go, you know, I mean a lot
of times you take your son, you know, you take
your kids? Why right? Exactly? And so for me, not
just the racial slurs, but the heckling itself. It's like
(01:52:38):
you're a forty five year old man wearing a Donovan
Mitchell's jersey and you are sitting there screaming. You're as
loud as you can at a guy that makes more
in one game than you're probably making your entire you know, year,
and you're gonna sit there and yell and like, come on, man,
sit down and just watch the game, no shape, you know,
(01:53:00):
appreciate them being athletic, and just appreciate what you're watching,
no doubt. Jackson, thank you for chiming in from Salt
Lake City. Let's go to Derek and Sacramento. You're on
the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Derek, Chris?
Why good? Great? Hey, it's been a wasp as I
called in, and I have an observation. I noticed that
(01:53:22):
y'all have been on Skipp and Shannon and count her
show earlier. I'm worried about their radios. I think they're
dipping into you to make sure their show. Say a
float is that's that's something that's going on. You said
it will take the compliment they're doing fine, though, they're
doing fine, but keep tuning in. That's the bottom line.
(01:53:45):
Keep tuning in. This is my thought is really when
you're talking about attendance and getting people to the game,
the customer base is only getting younger, and the poem
with that is the younger those kids arms that are coming,
and the more entitled they are, they think they can
behave that way, And I personally wish in basketball, of
(01:54:06):
all sports, they get people off. You need to back
the crowd up because in football and baseball you can't
touch a player, you can't be in someone. Dear, you know,
I do don't think that's one of the best things
about basketballs that the fans are right up there on.
You got to do is just behave There's nothing better
than sending courtside and watching the guys talk and seeing it,
(01:54:28):
seeing how bigre what you're saying. You don't want this
to be European soccer where they got barbed wire separating
the fan. Have you seen that. I don't disagree with you.
I just don't think the fans are gonna police themselves. Unfortunately.
I'm gonna share something with you, Derek. If you look
at the history of basketball, I'm talking way back when
it first started, they used to have cages around the
(01:54:48):
court because fans would like throw cigarettes, try to burn
the players and staff. Me. It was a different world
back then. That's where you got the term cages. Right,
they called basketball player cages. Thankfully we've moved way past that,
and I liked the fans being up on the court.
Thank you to brave yourself. Thanks Derek. Let's go to
doctor Florian in Los Angeles. Doctor Florian, Welcome to the
(01:55:12):
Accable Tank. Fellas. I've had some interesting experiences with Hard Heckley.
I heckled David Robinson incessantly when he scored seventy one
point against the Clippers that night front row seats uh
and and David Robinson came to the line for a
(01:55:35):
free throw and his shoes are untied, so every time
he came I kept yelling, tie your shoes. Tie your shoes. Finally,
after like five times, he tied his shoes. I saw
him last year and he remembered the heckling that I did.
I believe that I do another another another time, I
(01:55:55):
was at the day Lajoia Cornell Whittaker fighting and a
fan was using the in word incessantly. I felt really bad,
but I did not say anything to him, and some
other people actually called security and they kicked him out
of the game. And you know what, good for them
because they don't want to sit through that either. It's
(01:56:17):
very uncomfortable. It's not on the athlete, right. Do you
so you sound like you were a heckler? Did you
look at it as a challenge to be creative and
you know, come up with witty stuff that that the
players might even laugh at. Exactly because his shoes were
untired and he finally, I'm shocked that he was. He put,
(01:56:38):
that's how bad your clippers were? He put seventy one ties.
Come on, man, and you know, if I remember correctly
at house slippers on that night, God, keep keep up
the heckling. Man, appreciate it. All right, We're gonna give
you another chance to weigh in if you want. Eight
seven seven ninety nine, I knowing Fox, last segment of
(01:57:01):
the show, give us a call. What do you think
about what the jazz did? Was it a good thing
when they banned these two fans and tell us about heckling?
Is it good? Is it you should be banned? Heckling?
How creative can you get? It's The Eye Couple Chris
and Rob Fox Sports Radio Keep it locked. Be sure
(01:57:22):
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm. Eastern four
pm Pacific at Farmer's Insurance. We know the sound of

Shee covered it, falk to farmers. We are farmers underwritten
(01:57:42):
my Farmers truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable
in every state. All right, DJ tysher Yo, you did
your thing today. You brought in some fun hip hops
and you did everything. Listen, I gotta send you on
your way home, right, all right, all night, all right.
See our couple of christ and rod we got a
lot of calls. Let's get to him. Let's start with
(01:58:04):
Tory and Georgia. What do you think about all the
fan heckling and interactions with these NBA players? Hey Man,
first and fourth them, with great respect to you and
rod Man, thank you, appreciate you. I think the caller
before the other two callers had it perfectly right. You know,
he said it down the line, down the middle. But
(01:58:26):
I really want the time in or something that. Hey,
can we not let Robert cramp off the hook. I
know he's innocent to prove of guilty, but let's put
the pressure on these folks. Man. Well, hell, we'll see
he gonna get we'll see what happens with him. But
there you are innocent to approven guilty in America. All right,
let's go to Jody in Atlanta. Jody on with Chris
and Rob. Hey, how y'all doing today? Great? Great? Hey?
(01:58:51):
Like like the other callers said, I mean, it's really bad.
The heckling's got crazy. Like I've been to a couple
of Hards games and we don't really got a lot
of fans in there all the time, and we don't
really hecko like that over there. But I know other
arenas and playoff teams be going like so hard. They
want their teams to win so bad they gotta go
hard and like say some really trolling words they wouldn't
(01:59:11):
even say, like on the street. That's crazy, right, Like, right,
have you learn some bad a lot of bad things?
But not in Atlanta though, right? I don't think you
know Atlanta. We love we love everybody. We love them
in Atlanta. Y'all pool for the opponent, right, No, y'all
know the CD opponents. D you know, you know I'm hard,
I know I'm a future though, Yeah, Trey, I'm about
(01:59:34):
to be shooting so crazy. Just wait on it. Yeah,
I got love for the hard when they beat the
Lakers the other day with Lebron everybody, that was a
good one. Go to Georgia and North Carolina and Georgian
with Christ and robb. Hey, guys, I just wanted to say,
while I agree with what you Taul did, I think
the players need to learn learn some lessons from history.
(01:59:57):
Uh with all the things they say, the officials, maybe
they need to not respond to fans and fans need
to police themselves and security better. Well we say yeah,
if they need and you know what, you agree with that?
We know what didn't doctor say that? But doc also
doctors called in and said somebody was using the N
word and the thing and the fans pointed out god
(02:00:17):
security and asked them to remove the God because they
don't want to be around that. They don't want to
hear that. They got their wives and families and it's
not right. And the fans George, like Westbrook, We didn't
agree with him going off on the fan like that.
Call security, just get the security and have him get
the fan out of there, no doubt. So we we
are in agree with with. Thanks. How about Eric and Maryland,
(02:00:40):
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Eric, Hey, guys,
I love the show. It's awesome. I just want to say, um,
heckling shouldn't be always lighthearted, never malicious. Um, it's most
importantly it's it's comedic for the fans. You should and
more portantly in comedy, you need to have good timing.
(02:01:02):
That's why I tell you a quick story. A friend
of mine and I were at a minor league baseball
team game and Kobe Clemens came up the bat and
my friend we were in the front row and he
yells out, my dad throws harder than your dad. Wait
in the front because, yeah, funny, that is pretty fun.
(02:01:24):
I'm a little slow, Eric, but you're right, like Rob
cackling could actually add to a game, no, no doubt
for the fans and the play it was. It was
really colorful. Like it was Leon the barber in Detroit.
That was the guy and he he used to go and, uh,
(02:01:44):
you know, get on people, and sometimes players would be
at there. They would hear Leon. You know what I mean,
Like in a moment, this is before they played music
every five seconds like it did now, like you don't
have one second to breathe because we remember we came
up when you you didn't play music, dud no, nothing
like that. And what might have been an organized or something,
(02:02:05):
you know what I mean? More and more right, and
now it's like every second that they can't have a
quiet moment and somebody's dancing, somebody's throwing T shirts. I
got confetti in my mouth. That's look As a fan,
you also were presumably you want to pull for your
home team. If you're funny, you can actually get guys
(02:02:26):
off their game. If they're laughing, they're concerned, they want
to hear what you say. You can maybe get them
a little off their games. Somebody miss a free throw,
that can have fun with it. I love heckling if
it's lighthearted, as as Eric said, and uh, you know
it's cleverly done. All right, it's the Eye Couple. Chris
bru Sorry and Rob Parker, thanks for tuning in a week.
