Speaker 5 (01:19):
Rob, why's it gotta be colored?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
I said, color man? Not inded?

Speaker 6 (01:23):
It was?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Ed there Sure, he said, yeah, I think he did
say color color color.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
Man, I'm sitt next to Daddy.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
It's always black Friday everything.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
That's what I said, Carry line, Where's that dropped from yesterday?

Speaker 7 (01:37):
Wait?

Speaker 5 (01:37):
Which one?

Speaker 4 (01:38):
What'd you just say?

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Say, Rob, which which drop? Where's a couple of times?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yeah, I would tell him about the old TV show
with Danny Thomas make Room for Daddy, And uh, Alex
of course pulled that out.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
What did I say, yeah, make Room for Daddy?

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Was it old TV show in the fifties or something?
And of course he pulled it out, so he was
playing like.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
Crazy, whoa hold up? I did?

Speaker 7 (02:02):
What?

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Hold up? Hold up? You can't say anything around this guy.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
But yeah, that and last call as well here in
this final hour. Of course, Carrie always appreciate, uh you,
of course filling in. Let's say, how to your mom?
She's listening to my mom's listening. Yeah, mom's on. Mom's
on the.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Mama roads, Mama roads out roads, listen on the airway.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
There you go, mama.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
And by Friday, there you go? So wait, carry is
she the road because your roads?

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Oh the road?

Speaker 5 (02:37):
Wow? Is she a good cook?

Speaker 4 (02:40):
The best?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
She's a Rhodes scholar. All right, sore you go like that,
But I do want to say this real quick. And
we were just talking about Fuzzy Zeller and his yeah obituary,
and just to prove the point that I was saying
to you, Carrie, I looked up Richard Nixon's obituary and
the headline in the New York Times in nineteen ninety
four was the thirty seventh President Richard Nixon eighty one

(03:06):
dies And then for his kicker, like who he was,
what it said a master of politics, undone by Watergate.
So his worst moment, even though he did the other
all these other things, is included because.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
It was that big Watergate.

Speaker 8 (03:23):
And the key thing about that, which we talked about
off air is from a journalism perspective, that makes sense, right, it.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Has to be when you think of Richard Nixon, Watergate
of course comes to mind. We're still to this day
think about spy gate, the flake gate that's all derived
from Watergate, like a scandal. That's why we always say that, oh,
the you know spy gate, what a spy gate? Watergate

(03:51):
was a hotel in DC. All right, here we go,
so our number three here on the program, and there's
some news and.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Carrie, uh, one of the.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Soccer teams, right Iran, Right, yes, you have it up there,
I know, but I remember is gonna boycott and not
come to the United States because of some issues with
credentials and all kinds of stuff. So let me just
get exactly here the story I thought I had it

(04:35):
in front of me. I'm sorry, and it opens up
a big can of worms for other places and other
you know, where we are in this country right now
is if you're foreign foreigners, like tourism is down. Canadians
who used to go to Australia to Las Vegas, like,

(04:57):
attendance is down, people have stopped, uh comment.

Speaker 8 (05:01):
Yeah there, Yeah, they're they're not coming because of visa issues, right,
so trying to enter into the US. The games are
going to be held in is it DC? And yeah,
a lot of a lot of their employees and a
lot of the people that are associated with the Iran
soccer team have been denied entry into the US. So
that's been the big issue with things that are happening

(05:22):
right now. They said there was no immediate comment from
the White House on the situation, but yeah, I said,
the federation that reached out to the FIFA and hoped
it could help resolve the issue. Soccer's ruling body didn't
immediately immediately reply to a request for comment, So right now,
it's it seems like there's a lot of a lot
of dust uff going on on on with that situation

(05:42):
and actually getting teams to come in to be a
part of the part of the of the tournament.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
And President Donald Trump's administration announced in June or travel
ban on citizens from twelve countries and that included Iran. Oh,
the list also included Haiti, which last week qualified for
the World Cup and this is for Iran decided to
boycott the twenty twenty six World Cup draw in Washington
next week because of the visa issues which you mentioned.

(06:09):
And so this is the bigger story and we really
want you to be involved in this. And you know,
this show has never been afraid to just talk about
the news and what's happening. And this is real and
we know the climate of what's going on, the ice
rounding up people, immigrants, just the videos of it, the
stuff going on, people being stopped randomly because they look

(06:31):
a certain way. There's a lot of issues and you could,
you know, deal with immigration or whatever you want to do,
you know, And I understand that if you're here illegally,
but the way it's been done in the video and
the stuff is really eye opening. And for somebody who's foreign,
is it like, I don't think I would want to

(06:52):
come to the country at this point if I was
a foreigner, like to visit or just to see what's
happen happened? So is there a possibility that other countries
decide that they don't want to come?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
You know?

Speaker 1 (07:07):
The US has a lot of big soccer events right
coming up in the next right, the World Cup.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
And a couple other big the Olympics as well. Yeah,
and the Olympics, that's another one. That's what I was thinking.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
And now you might have it where people are saying,
I don't know, the United States isn't a friendly place
to come to right now with what's going on, and
whether or not you would want to take part so
as an athlete, and this is always just what I'm
asking you because.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
I remember, I'm old enough to remember.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
When we boycott it, and I say we the United
States boycotted the nineteen eighty Olympics in Russia.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
They were doing stuff the Soviet.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Union and all that, and a lot of you know,
athletes who have trained for three four years, you know,
for that opportunity. And at the time, I think it
was Jimmy Carter just said we're not going to take
part in that.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
I also always was very.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I thought it was weird that we took part in
the Olympics in Berlin when Hitler was there and Jesse Owens. Yeah,
and they didn't allow Jewish athletes like Marty Glickman and
people like that who were track stars to participate, Like
we actually went along with that and didn't allow them

(08:24):
to be on the team or come after they had
done that. I thought we should have probably to the
United States not taken part of the Olympics in Berlin,
right nineteen thirty six, and we know Jesse Owens made
Hitler like a full layer in front of them or
whatever and all that stuff. Where are you on politics

(08:44):
and sports and these issues, because we have one now
coming up with all these events.

Speaker 8 (08:50):
Yeah, I mean just the tip of the iceberg of
what we're talking about right now. Think about what you
just said, so that nineteen thirty six, one say we
do boycott and we don't take part like these people
have been these athletes that have been training their whole
lives to get one shot at this thing, to represent
their country and you know, bring home the goal for
the country for themselves. If we decide not to do

(09:11):
that and go to Germany and be a part of that,
we don't have that iconic moment with Jesse Owens raising
the hand up in in defiance of that situation and
winning it right like.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
That, that's true, But what about the Jewish athletes who
trained as well. We turned our backs on them and
they were American citizens. Yes, I'm just right one hundred percent.
So you say, you talk about the Jewish community and
obviously having that slender happened in that moment and we
allowed it.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
We allowed it.

Speaker 8 (09:38):
But we've also had the African American culture that have
taken just as many hits as well and still stand
up and be able to go apart and be a
part of this and represent any underserved community or any
underserved person to go out there and still represent themselves
and actually.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Win it like that matters to me as well, I think,
But I don't.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Know, like if it would have been that the Germans said,
don't bring any black people or Jews here.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Do you know what I'm saying, Like, we get they
didn't want Jewish people there because of what was going
on in Nazi Germany and all that. I just wonder now,
like the climate of where we are as this country
that has all these people from all over, Like you go,
I've been to Japan.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Have you been to Japan? Of course?

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Okay, ninety nine percent homogenious, everybody's Japanese. Yeah, that's where
you know, like a lot of countries are like that,
where everybody. United States is not that such a melting pot.
We have so many people from all over. I'm from
New York City. You walk the street, you might run
into people from fifty different places around the world.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
It's incredible.

Speaker 8 (10:51):
No, No, I think we are more inclined now to
take that stand that you're talking about. I mean, there
we have friends that could be affected by this, right,
people that we actually know, which makes it different.

Speaker 6 (11:03):
Right.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
What about if you're a foreign country now and you
see the temperature of the United States. Yes, I think
that's a there's a conversation. Despite you wanted to be
a part of the World Cup or the Olympics, there
are issues that are bigger, and how we're.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Treated as a group of people.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Because supposedly, I always believed or thought the Olympics was
we were supposed to set down our differences, come together
as a world and compete, right, That's that I thought
that was what the Olympics was about.

Speaker 8 (11:34):
That is not what it's all about. It's not about
all of us coming together. They're all trying to come
together to win for their country. No, No, I agree
what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Like like coming from all over the world, different people qualify,
you know what I mean. We have a chance to
compete with everybody. That's what That's what I mean when
I say come together.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
But now.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
The temperature in the United States is hot. If you
if you're far, it's hot.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
And do you expect other countries to join this or
or decide that maybe they don't want to come. Look
at how Mexican Mexican people have been treated. If you're Mexico,
do you really want to be a part of it.
I know you want your soccer team to be involved,
you want a chance to win and all.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
That, but at what cost?

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Look at what we've done with the fights of Canada,
our friends to the North. Have we ever been in
any kind of issue with Canada? What is one? But
but we've had a riff with Canada. I'm just the
tariffs and stuff. Yeah, No, it's the climate's hot.

Speaker 8 (12:41):
And I think if you want to take the stands
like Iran did and not be a part of it
because you're being you're being subjugated to something that seems unfair,
right right, Why are.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
We picking up?

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Why are you picking us out out of Like we're
here to play soccer. Why can't we come like everybody else?

Speaker 4 (12:57):
One hundred percent I would I would be okay with that.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
But I also be okay with the team that or
the country that comes and still tries to fight and win,
win the goal for the country. So there's this is
a this is a touch when rob It's one of
those ones that can go either way. I always believe
in in order to get you have to give in
order to get, and sometimes you have to take hard
stances and you have to make a sacrifice. The only

(13:22):
way you get change in the world is through sacrifice.
People who think that the other people are just going
to one day flip and say, oh, yeah, you know what,
we haven't been treated you right, We're gonna do right
by you. Not usually how it works, Alex.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
What do you have?

Speaker 5 (13:37):
So I will say this, very deep, very riveting, had
to be talked about World Cups of phenomenons, the only
time anybody watches soccer here in this country. But Rob,
I have a fun, light, interesting question for you. Yes,
I've been with you now for eight years. Yes, you
have never talked soccer. How is it that on the
day Rob g is not here, we're talking soccer. Is

(13:57):
there something going on in like an undertone here? Something?

Speaker 9 (14:00):
Because I'm Persian dude, you I was coming. I'm the
yourdiance soccer fan.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Guy, And he was like, all right, no, no, no,
I just I thought when when that story was trending,
you know, on ESPN dot com, it was like the
second or third story.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
It's a huge thing. He knows.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
I'll have that conversation with them doing that's a good point,
that's right, And I think, as you know, Alex, whole
eight years on this show, we talk about everything like
if it's if it's relevant, you know, and that story
broke today. We felt it was relevant and we want
to give the listeners a chance to chime in. Eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Not a political show, Okay,

(14:41):
So I don't want to stop with the political. If
you were a foreign country currently today, would you feel
comfortable coming to United States?

Speaker 4 (14:50):
That's really that simple.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Would you say, I'm we're gonna boycott because we don't
like what's going on. If I Ran can't come, then
we're not coming. Either we're all coming or nobody's coming.
And that's a stance eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
And I want to tell you the story. So it
was a legendary sports writer in New York because name
was Dick Young. Late Dick Young wrote for the Daily News.

(15:16):
And uh, Larry Holmes was having his training in Las Vegas,
and he saw Dick Young and he told everybody, said
to the other writers, boxing writers, he can't be in here.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Get rid of this guy.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Throw them out to tell his people, Dick Young, throw
them out. And the other writers all who weren't friends
with Dick Young or whatever, but the other writers who
were covered, they all, when they threw Dick Young out,
walked out with Dick Young.

Speaker 8 (15:42):
Because if you're gonna throw Dick Young out, you can
throw us out as well, exactly.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
And that was exactly what it was was like, no,
we don't we we don't work with Dick Young. He
might not even be a friend of mine, but either
he gets to stay because this is an open training
session for the media, and if he doesn't get the state,
then none of us will stay. And they're like, no, no,
you guys can no, no, no one or the other.
Guess what happened. They allowed Dick Young in and the

(16:08):
rest of the media came back in. All right, eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox I want to hear your
conversation on this.

(18:08):
All Right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox we're
talking about Iran is boycotting the World Cup here in
the United States because the visa issues.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Should other people.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Jump out as well other countries or do you expect
them all?

Speaker 5 (18:25):
Right?

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Do you have you o the list or you don't
have it? I got a whole lot of Okay, you
got something? You got yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Kurt in North Dakota, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
What's up, Kurt?

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Hey, Rob Parker, thank you very much. You guys are
the best. I appreciate it for I love you guys.
I think that FIFA should maybe put some pressure in
the United States and tell them that, hey, if you
don't get your act together, that we're going to play
our tournament in Mexico and Canada. You guys are gonna
watch on TV. But but either that and maybe or
maybe there's enough countries that can put pressure on TIFA

(19:00):
that the type of you know, put a bold, strong
stance on this.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Good Kurt, it should be all or nothing, you know
what I mean? Like seriously, Ei though, everybody who makes
the tournament should be able to come into the United
States given them that they get their correct visas.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
Right, absolutely, that's the spirit of the Olympics too, you know,
all nations no matter what, in peace and that. But
I saw I saw John Carlos and Tommy Smith Raezer
fist on TV and Nexico CD, and I admire people
that stand up for their convictions. And so yeah, anybody
that wants to, you know, stand up and make a
statement and go against you know, these crazy nut jobs

(19:37):
that are running this country right now with all their hate,
I admire them greatly. But anyways, there's other people that
want to know.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
I love you, guys, but thank you, Happy holidays.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Appreciate that.

Speaker 8 (19:48):
Yeah, we got another call. We got Timothy in Oregon.
You're on with the Odd Couple. Man, how are.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
You hey, I'm doing good. How are you guys doing great?

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Timothy? What's up? Buddy? What you got?

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (19:58):
I mean, honestly, Sason Smith and My Carmon Show and
you guys, I think are my two favorite shows there.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
You know, shit, wow, I appreciate that the Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon is coming up.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
That.

Speaker 11 (20:14):
Uh yeah, I mean I just called in, especially because
I was just out doing my thing like I do,
listen to talk radio like I often do. Well, the
the sports radio that is, and uh, you're harping on
the today's climbing in the world in the US and
the Olympics, and I just love that, Like Rob, I
love that you're willing to talk about that on your show.
I'm very I've more recently got into kind of standing

(20:35):
up for people's rights kind of things lately with all
this stuff going on, and I found surprisingly that so
many people shy away from talking about it, even if
that's like I like, I don't want to take you longer.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
No, no, but like my.

Speaker 11 (20:48):
Family, like like some of my family, like I know
some of their core beliefs, they're a little wacky. But
I'm like, how can you be against.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
How can you be against all these people? That's what
you guys raised me to believe in.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
I'm must say this.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
You got to have a conversation about stuff that mattered,
and we're not. I'm not if if this is a
big deal or people, I would rather not have a show,
if I'm going to ignore what's going I'm dead serious.
If someone were to come to me and say, don't
talk about this, don't talk about that, don't do this,
I would rather not have a show. Then to come
on and then pretend nothing's happening in the world because

(21:24):
you just want me to talk about the same football
game for the ninth time. I'm not doing it. When
it's it's relevant, I'll do it. We got all right,
we got, we got, we got. Quit playing in Tennessee.
You know with the couple.

Speaker 6 (21:37):
Man, how are you what's going on?

Speaker 2 (21:39):
Appreciate it?

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Yeah, well we appreciate that. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Your number hits so room. So that's why I always
been from And then I'd be like, what was that
number again?

Speaker 4 (21:57):
What you got?

Speaker 2 (21:58):
All right? All right, I'm on this conversation about this man.
It's like this man, the climate is real right now.
You know if you come down here with that a
bes Look, you know, everybody always talking about illegal aliens,
and you got I just running around here, and then
you got you know then and then they then they
got all these little things that happened with the president
and the president doing all this stuff. It's more of scary,

(22:20):
I see. You know, it's so scary to come to
America right now.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
No, I'm serious.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
If you were foreigner, it just doesn't feel comfortable as
maybe it might have been in the past. Thanks quit
playing for the call? What else you got one more,
one more, Well, let's go one more.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
We'll go.

Speaker 8 (22:35):
Uh, let's go Leo and Long Island. You on with
the heart the couple men?

Speaker 12 (22:39):
Are you tell us in a happy Black Friday?

Speaker 4 (22:44):
That's right? And it's Leo on Long Island, not in Long.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Island on Long.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
What's up about it?

Speaker 12 (22:53):
I can subsist, mom, So you I mean, on this topic,
we all know that, you know, when it comes to
sucker ready butter, when they're based on the club and
participating for in a walk up, it's more for pasturiotic acts.
And it's one to see in that patriotic spirit which
that most countries has to bend together to like Biko

(23:14):
to personally the way I see because imagine I pack
you know, Latinos and everything I wish I wish were that.
You know, if we have games here, act's not going
to go to the games of Costa Rica or Ecuadors
to target immigrants there.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
What if Ice is out in the parking lot with
Patty Wagon. Seriously, and the fans from the United States
you know who live here don't want to go to
those games. I mean, it's really an awkward and tough situation.
Leo that's a great.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Bar the same things coming up with a super Bowl
and bad Bunny's going with that.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
That's the other thing. You're right, it's a big question.
There's a lot of stuff going on, stuffing.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Hey, guys, thank you.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Thanks for doing it. On that conversation. We got Ryan
Holland's coming up next.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
This is the odd color analyst, right, color color analysts.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
There's no but first let's get you caught up. His
name is Steve Deciper. Slop it. Let's get the colored,
I said, color analysts.

Speaker 13 (24:15):
College football Scoreboard Number two Indiana leites twenty eight to
three at Purdue at the half. Number three Texas A
and M ahead at sixteenth ranked Texas ten to three.
Arch Manning is getting pounded. He's eight of twenty one,
passing only fifty one yards through the air in the
first half. Arizona at Arizona State, scoreless late in the
first quarter on Fox TV. Number four Georgia was a

(24:37):
winner at Georgia Tech Today sixteen at sixteen to nine,
and it was seventh ranked Old Miss winning at Mississippi
State thirty eight nineteen. Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin will decide
tomorrow if he's leaving for LSU or not Trinidad. Chambliss
of Old Miss four touchdown passes three hundred and fifty
nine yards, passing his seventh three hundred yard game this year.

(25:00):
Number thirteen. Utah scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter,
including a ninety seven yard pick six, to win at
Kansas thirty one. Twenty one. Iowa won easily at Nebraska
forty to sixteen. Boise State scored late to win at
Utah State. New Mexico in double overtime beat San Diego
State North Texas now eleven and one after ripping Temple

(25:21):
Saturday on Fox TV. Number one Ohio State at fifteenth
ranked Michigan. Vanderbilt gave coach Clark Lee a new six
year contract. Stanford's new head coach is Tavita Pritchard, former
quarterback and assistant there. The Oregon State's new coach is
JaMarcus Sheppard, Alabama's co offensive coordinator in the NFL. Today
at Philadelphia, the Chicago Bears beat the Eagles twenty four fifteen.

(25:43):
Kyle Manungai one hundred thirty yards rushing in a touchdown,
DeAndre Swift one hundred and twenty five yards rushing and
a touchdown. The Bears move into the number two seed
in the NFC, half game behind the Rams Philadelphia game
and a half out. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return
into play Sunday with a broken left wrist eleven NBA

(26:04):
games tonight, Hawks are now leading Cleveland early fourth quarter
one oh seven one hundred despite thirty one points from
Donovan Mitchell. At Charlotte Brandon Miller twenty five points. Hornets
ahead of the Bulls one oh seven one hundred with
under eight minutes to play, and the Magic lead it
Detroit ninety three eighty four with about ten minutes left
despite thirty points from Cad Cunningham. Anthony Davis returns to

(26:27):
play for Dallas in a half an hour at the
Lakers due to injury. Davis has missed a month. In
men's college hoops, Number five Connecticut beat number thirteen Illinois
at Madison Square Garden seventy four sixty one.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Back to you, all right, Steve, thank you. It is
the odd couple.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
On a fucky flashback Friday, Rob Parker Carrie Rhodes in
for kelvin Washington on this Black Friday. We had a
great Thanksgiving yesterday. The odd couple was here for you,
and we're here for you today as well. Let's welcome
in one of my favorite players. Of favorite people, I
should say, played ten years in the NBA. Former NBA

(27:04):
center played for eighteen different teams. I think, Ryan, is
that correct number or not?

Speaker 14 (27:10):
You bring me up and you say you had it right?
Can be your favorite player?

Speaker 4 (27:17):
I said your favorite person?

Speaker 6 (27:19):
Person person?

Speaker 4 (27:24):
He did say player player right? My goodness.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
But Ryan Hollins, who was the color analyst for the
Houston Rockets, the high flying Houston Rockets.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Unbelievable, Ryan, what's happening to say? How to carry?

Speaker 2 (27:39):
What's going on? Fellas?

Speaker 4 (27:40):
What's all Ryan? How doing?

Speaker 14 (27:41):
Brother?

Speaker 4 (27:42):
We're doing great? Hey?

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Well when they went to Golden State, No KD and
that whole thing, man, people took notice of that game.
Was that like a little watershed moment there for the Rockets.

Speaker 14 (27:55):
It was huge, man, I thought it was huge, And
it was huge in a sense that that was a
game that, you know, with a team that had been
hot in Houston, and I thought, you know, even last year,
you know, losing to them in the fashion, finally beating
them the regular season, losing to them in the whole
season but you're missing a playoff worthy starting five. Fred

(28:20):
Van Vliet, Devin Durant, part Easton like you had five
guys out that could start and have a fifty win
season and Reach Shepherd, who was the biggest. Reach Shepherd
you can say is the biggest kind of player that
can sway Houston this season. He goes out and has
a monster game. So I thought I answered so many

(28:43):
questions that Houston had And I'll give you guys this
the Pocket Rockets, man, they were electric. You know, everybody
talking about how big the Rockets are. They you were
playing j D. Davison, Holiday and Reid at the same time.
So it was fun to watch him and shows the
culture that e makes built in Houston.

Speaker 8 (28:59):
Yeah, ran about the Rockets, and I want to talk
about it. I mean, they have depth obviously, but I
want to talk about Jabari Smith a little bit. I mean,
I think he's the guy, in my opinion with this
team that is the wild card. He's really athletic, he
can shoot the ball, he can defend, and I think
he can learn a lot from KD as the season progressive.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Talk about Jabari Smith a little bit. Here.

Speaker 14 (29:18):
He's taking leaps and bounds yep. And you know it's
funny you bring him up because he's a guy that
you don't really notice that much. He's not going to
jump out in the box score. Obviously you see what
Outpee and Katie can do, what they bring to the table.
But here's the thing about Bari. Bari goes out and
when he's not there, the team is not the same.
They don't rebound the same, they don't defend the same.

(29:40):
And you talk about what makes them different is Houston's
sah so Jabari is definitely a huge X factor and
when you thought from the day he came in, when
you talk about winning a championship, you need guys like
that on your roster.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Let's go here.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
I'm looking at the standings in the West and the
Rockets are fourth twelve and four.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
We know the.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Thunder eighteen and one. How ridiculous are the Thunder. I
don't think there's automatically gonna win the championship again. I
know people are off to a great start, which is
incredible eighteen and one, and then the Lakers are thirteen
and four.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
More fugazy than I buy him too. That there we
go and the Nuggs I like a lot four.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
I'm just saying, but the Nuggets last year took remember
the Thunder the seven games, and I think they're better
this year.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
So that's a team.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
But just give me a feel for the West and
the way I just mentioned the top four.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
How it shakes out. Are you good? All four of
these are the best four teams? You think?

Speaker 14 (30:37):
Yeah? Man, just saw the Nuggets there for real. Nicole Jokic,
he had a smooth thirty nine points against the Houston.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
He's crazy, He's so good.

Speaker 14 (30:48):
Robie was the smoothest thirty nine points that we've ever seen.
And if Nicola Jokic can sack championships behind what he does,
we're gonna be putting him in that goat conversation. I
know people don't want to hear it because he doesn't
have the flair of Michael Jordans, a lot of hops
like Lebron and all that. But like he's a guy,
they're championships behind the performances that he has. He absolutely

(31:08):
goes in those conversations and at the end of the day, man,
I'm telling you, man, they are legitimate. Just because of
the color your kitchen. The question with Denver, and remember this,
I said it, guys. It's just about them being healthy.
You know. They kind of have their recipe for success.
Oklahoma City's tough. They're doing it without JDub And the
thing is they're selfless and they win. Nobody else wins

(31:31):
the way they win. You know, they don't mind, you know,
winning on the defensive end. They got to star a
guy who can go and get it. And I think
the guy who really puts them over the top, if
he comes around in the fruition is Chet Holer. If
Chet becomes like one of those guys, you're right there.
And all that being said, the Houston Rockets have added

(31:51):
just what they needed. I'm gonna time back to the Rockets.
You get the closer in Kevin Durant, You arguably the
best closer in the game, and I think that changes
everything for this ball club.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
I'm gonna say one thing, and Kerry has a last question,
but KD like the yeah, he's older guy.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Injuries are part of who he is.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
And that's the thing that scares me. If I'm a
Rockets fan, will KD be there? You know what I mean,
when you need it?

Speaker 2 (32:17):
I think I think I think that.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
Is that not a fair question. It's a fair question.

Speaker 14 (32:20):
Yeah, No, that's a one hundred percent of fair question.
I think that he'll be there, and the reason being
he's really leaning on the men Thompson and Alfred Shangun
to those guys that get him there. And you'll see
him literally if you watch the Rockets games. He'll wait
until the last second and okay, it's KD times and
he'll go to take over. So I think people have
underestimated the intelligence that he has in the way that

(32:41):
he's really saved his body and prepared for these moments.
But like he's not trying to be hero a hero
in his process. He's waiting for the right time. So
I think that's what's most impressive about KD.

Speaker 8 (32:52):
Well, Ryan, I had, I had a Phoenix question, but
I'm gonna I'm gonna scrap that one because I know
you cover Houston, and the thing about Houston, I like Houston.

Speaker 7 (32:59):
Lost aight, I got everything, don't know, you gotta be
shocked by the side that way.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Okay, I'm gonna throw it. I'm gonna throw that Phoenix question.
So this is Burger King. It is it is.

Speaker 8 (33:10):
We know you know that's the only king you acknowledge that.
But but Phoenix, why why are they having success right now?
This team got script of stripped of a lot of
a lot of elements. And I don't think a lot
of people had any expectations for the team. How are
they They got twelve and well right.

Speaker 14 (33:26):
Now when they went out and made it very certain
that they were willing and and and Dylan Brooks was
a big part of that trade. I'm telling you he's
if there's somebody missed on this roster, no, no, no
shade to Jalen Greener.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Any of those guys.

Speaker 14 (33:39):
He just changes the dynamic. He talks trash, He makes
the games you know that much Edgier like like he
is an X factor. Man, it is unbelievable. But he
has those guys believing they're playing hard, they're picking up.
The NBA allows a lot of physicality, but that's all
Dylan Brooks man. And I'm telling you, man, we missed
that guy here in Houston.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
How crazy is that?

Speaker 8 (34:00):
I was gonna ask him about Dylan Brooks with Houston
and end up in anyway.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
No doubt about it. All right, Ryan Man, thank you
so much.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
As always, we appreciate your insight and your knowledge.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
Appreciate your brother.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Yea, Hey, after Ryan, don't do it, I said, Audy,
recognize one king in the United States, and that's Burger.
That's Burger, just saying, Hey, I'm gonna see you in Houston.
You know I'm gonna wind up showing up right, Yeah,
about time, man, I know I was coming to have

(34:32):
dinner with the in Houston. Yeah, the last couple of years, right, Ryan,
we always get toge.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
I'm gonna get there, no doubt. Appreciate you mine, all right, Right,
I have a going yeah, appreciate.

Speaker 14 (34:43):
It all right.

Speaker 4 (34:44):
Coming up next is last call time.

were probably whispering, and.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
You know that kind of side eye the mouth or
the hand.

Speaker 11 (38:52):
Over the mouth and like you're not supposed to say
that outlived type of stuff.

Speaker 6 (38:56):
So that's how all that with him, And it makes sense.
