rate quote. We are into the NFL Thursday night game.
Seattle's up seven oh on Arizona in a battle of
MBP candidates and leaders down there in the af FC West,
and which is a division that is really stacked right now.
(01:05):
But um, so far, the Cardinals been struggling a bit,
three and out in their first two possessions, but now
they're leaving. They are in Seahawks territory, and I remember Rob,
this defense is horrible. So you would expect Kyler Murray
and DeAndre Hopkins to make some happen. Yeah, to do something,
so uh they're threatening right now. Speaking of uh yeah,
(01:28):
Murray just hit his tight end to the one yard
line on about a thirty yard pass, so they are
marching and probably about to tie it up. At the
bottom of the hour, we got really hot new game
show or new show we have on the eye couple
tight shirts, Tower of Trivia and Rob I gotta tell
you this because he may be doing it to you too.
(01:50):
But ever since we started doing tight Shirts Tower of Trivia,
he thinks he's a sports expert. Now he'll be whispering
in my ear. Sports takes na na you wrong, son,
This this is you know all that? Yeah, y'all, dude,
you now you know sports CB. I've always known sports
(02:12):
believe you're just fun. You're just fronting for the show. Basically,
the Tower of Trivia is to let you guys know,
you need to be scared. That's what it is. That
is at the bottom of the hour. Yet that's a
lot of definitely chime in. I've been killing it, Alex,
you won last week. That I've been kind week. Some
of my some of my some of my clues are
(02:34):
pretty good SCB. That's the thing. Rob knows me. He
gets me he knows when he says one word, I'm
gonna instantly know what we're talking about. Where I'm going
I think it might be some texting going on or
something like that. A lot of this Chris is always
like he always thinks there's some monkey feel you should
you should you were having you always the monkey business
(02:56):
is going on, all right, Rob, let's get in speaking
of monkey But you know what, speaking of a loud mouth,
how about that? Regardless of whether you you love the
former president, right, I think it's former, is it. I mean,
(03:17):
it's all types of stuff going on, right, But whether
you loved him or not or hated him, he's a
loud mouth. Everybody can agree with that. And speaking of
loud mouths um LaVar ball straight up loud mouth. But
USA Today wrote a very flattering column on him today. Rob.
(03:39):
Of course his youngest son, LaMelo, who he has actually
said will be the best ball player in the family,
no pun intended. He was drafted third goes to Michael
Jordan's Charlotte Hornets, not first, like a lot of people
were saying, right, some people he was the in the
mix for first, putting that and something, but anyway, goes third.
(04:01):
Now remember a few years ago, Linzo Ball's older brother
went second. They become the first brothers in NBA history
to be drafted in the top five. That's that is impressive.
That is impressive. And here's I'm gonna let you know
how this column started out, Rob, and then you can
take it from there, um started out. The twenty twenty
(04:24):
NBA draft will be remembered as a painful one for
critics of LaVar Ball. Sorry haters, but on Wednesday, Ball
made history. He became the only man to have sons
picked in the top ten of the NBA draft. The
Floor's yours, Rob Parker. I guess um who wrote the column?
(04:51):
I saw, I saw it, but I didn't see who
wrote it. I'm gonna look it up, Rob, G Do
you remember who wrote it? I'm sorry, I'll let you
know in a minute. I've read it, but I I
didn't remember, Okay, I didn't remember the name. I think
he's misguided in this. I don't think anyone has ever
attacked LaVar Ball for what he was able to do
(05:13):
to get his three sons college scholarships and put them
in position to where they had a shot at making
it to the NBA. At least two of them because
the middle son, Chris, was never on from even the
NBA people I talked to. He was never on the
NBA Radar. Am I wrong or not? No, but you
don't think LaVar and he may have deserved it, but
(05:35):
you don't think LaVar was attacked at times. No, I
don't remember not as a father who will put his
sons in position. He was attacked for his attacks on
other people in saying that, you know, just update out
landish things that Lonzo was gonna make Lebron a champion
(05:58):
and he could be Michael Jordan in the one on
one game, and it was all the other Steph. Lonzo's
better than Steph Curry. That's what people pushed back on. Nobody, Chris,
And you could show me the column showed me the
commentary where somebody ripped him for being a good dad
(06:19):
and guiding his sons to a position of where they
could succeed. I never heard it, never saw it. It's
missed the column who wrote the guy wrote this is
trying to equate people hating on him and what he
did for his kids. It was the loudmouthed dad who
(06:40):
was pushing back and and chastising others and telling them
they weren't good, and how good his boys were, and
how great his sneakers were, and pay five hundred dollars
from my sneakers and do all this. It was that
providal that people pushed back on. They never attacked him
as a father and his kids. His kids weren't in trouble, Chris,
(07:04):
his kids at college scholarships. You showed me the collum,
You showed me the commentary on YouTube where they attacked
him as a father. And I'll apologize because I don't
remember it. Well. You're making good points. A lot of
what he was attacked for was warranted. When you start
a shoe company and you charged nearly five hundred dollars
(07:28):
for the shoes that that won't come for months, and
a lot of times didn't come right and maybe even
most cases didn't come. And he's gonna be criticized, well, Shannon, Yeah,
you know, because he's on TV every day. But and
I also think he got some criticism for kind of
(07:49):
the pressure that you put he put on his sons, right,
you know what I mean? Like I mean, you're talking
up lines. Though he's gonna be better, He's better than
Steph Curry. He's gonna carry the Brian so on, and
so that puts major league pressure on your sons. I
think he got some criticism for let me just say
this real quick and you continue. Remember Lonzo's first game,
(08:12):
Patrick Beverley picked him up on the end back. Yes, okay,
that was LaVar ball. Okay, am I right? You know basketball? Yeah? Yeah,
And I think even said it that he did it
because of his dad or something like that. But yeah,
that's an example. And here's the other thing. Remember China
where the middle son, Loangelo, stole that watch or tried
(08:37):
or something like that, and he kind of dismissed it. Yeah,
and LaVar kind of dismissed it. So he was criticized
with stuff like that, and he made it out like
it was the school's fault. And Chris, they were caught
on videotape at a couple of stores shoplifting. It wasn't
just one place, and he didn't he didn't basically say
his son and my dad would have done them. O god,
(09:00):
are you kidding? I've had Oh my gosh. And they're
very fortunate because you're right, Communists China, they could have
done anything with them. You can say whatever you want.
If Trump didn't make a phone call Chris, he could
have been over there's serious. Absolutely, But here's where I
will and you're right, Rob, I mean, I think most
of what you said. I agree with what I think
(09:22):
the columnist was getting at, though, is that and you
and I kind of alluded to this a bit yesterday.
Make no mistake about it. LaVar Ball and his outlandish
proclamations is what got Linzo drafted second in twenty seventeen.
(09:44):
Spot on because if he because he did the draft,
he wouldn't be in the top fifteen if he was
an average dad that nobody knew about. And yes, in fairness,
Linzo had a great year at Kentucky. He turned that
team around. He was carry I'm sorry, yeah, Ucla. He
turned that team around, was carrying him and all that.
(10:05):
But Dearon Fox wore him out when they played each
other deaf. If we didn't know about LaVar Ball and
he didn't talk up his son so much, it wouldn't
have been as much hype about Linzo and you would
have looked people would have been. I think Dearon Fox
would have win before him. I think Linzo would have
(10:25):
been a lottery pick, but it would have been later
in the lottery. There wouldn't have been the pressure we
talked about yesterday, the pressure on the Lakers to take him,
because that's not really the type of point guards we
have nowadays, Rob. You know, now they're looking for point
guards to score twenty right and due and run the team,
you know. So he was different, and so I think
(10:45):
you gotta give LaVar some credit for that. And then
I would even say, what LaMelo, Rob, there's a little
bit of that, not quite as much as Linzo, But
think about it, LaMelo played it, he can Lithuanian an
exhibition league. He played at Spire High School in Ohio,
which is I guess some type of prep school or
(11:08):
somebody nobody really pays attention to. And then he went
over to Australia this year and you know, played fourteen
games or something like that, whatever it was. And so
I but but everybody knew about him. And I just
think if you didn't have a dad for for good
(11:28):
or bad, right or wrong, talking him up so much
for the last five years or whatever it's been, then
I don't think Lamello would have been as known as
he is right now. And the talent is there, it
speaks for itself. But I just think that his constant
running of the mouth, it's kind of like the Kardashians,
(11:50):
you know that he just put so much more attention
on them, you know, yeah, right, thankfully you know that.
I think that's what the columnists meant. And I agree
with you. He did things wrong that he should be
criticized for it, don't. But you can't deny that he
(12:11):
brought so much attention to his boys that you know,
it helped him in the draft. The one thing is,
I hope it doesn't really hurt his middle kid, lo Angelo,
because he was saying lo Angelo is gonna be in
the League two and obviously he's not even close, And
so I hope he's fine mentally when his older and
younger brother both make it. You know, no, no, no
(12:33):
doubt about it. And I just I think people should
be careful about that. I don't. I just don't remember.
I mean, Chris, we even talked about it when he
used to come into the FS one studios in the
early day, you know what I mean, and we were like,
we love the idea of him starting his own business
and all that. I'm an entrepreneur. I love that. Like,
(12:55):
nobody was ripping up that until the plan came out
and it was five hundred dollars. You know, you didn't
know when you were gonna get the merchandise. I think
that they weren't exactly. Um, I don't know what's the
new thing, hyper Max. No. I mean Lomber stopped wearing them.
He said they hurt his feet, right, I mean they
were decent. Don't get me wrong. They weren't like buddies,
(13:18):
you know. But yeah, but but but but I think
I think, uh, like, that's the only part that I
disagree with the column is that when people pushed back
at him, there was something he did, some obnoxious stuff,
said some obnoxious stuff to people. He could be Michael
Jordan in a one on one game, like like to
have some respect. Stay. Same thing with the Steph Curry.
(13:40):
I mean, you know, you might not like Steph Curry's
game or whatever. The guy's a two time MVP unanimous.
You gotta give him at least that. And to say
that your son is going to lead Lebron James and Lebron,
he said they wouldn't win without Lonzo and that what
he said, that's what he said, Yeah, and then right,
how did that work out? That's what I'm all right?
(14:02):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. How much credit
does LaVar Ball deserve for getting two of his sons
taken in the top three of the NBA draft? Its
historical folks. We will continue the conversation with you next
as you call in. It's Chris and Rob the Couple
(14:22):
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Car fifty four Where
are you? That is before My Time, Rob, Before My
(14:44):
Time two. I saw it in reruns, wow on like
one of those old retro TV kind of networks, Chris,
car fifty four. That was early tolerated that. I remember
Adam twelve. Remember I had one out of twelve? Yeah,
I remember Adam twelve. I think I told you this before,
But you know, the woman who did the dispatch in
(15:04):
the beginning, remember how we used to go one out
of twelve, one out of twelve days of you know, right,
to eleven in progress or whatever. They tried to get
an actor to do that to voice it, couldn't do it,
so they actually hired the person who did it in
LA for the police depart in real life. She did that, wow,
(15:25):
because that's how good she was. N Parker with some trivia. Yes, yes,
all right, we are coming to you live from the
Guy Go Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's the Eye Couple
on a TV theme song, Thursday thirteen, seven, Seattle in
the Battle of AFC West Titans with Arizona Russell Wilson
(15:47):
two touchdown passes. All right, Rob, let's get to the cause.
Does LaVar Ball deserve credit four getting his two sons
drafted two of his three sons drafted in the top
three of the NBA draft, or as Charlie Hayes, the
former third baseman of the Yankees and Phillies, used to say,
credit all right, two ago, Bruce and Richmond, Virginia. You're
(16:11):
on the Eye couple. Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Bruce A,
what's up? Rob? What's up? Chris? A man? All every
night listener, second time caller, thank you, we appreciate and
tomorrow is gonna be a first time Friday. That's right,
(16:31):
first timers for Friday callers. Yes, let me get to this. Uh,
he deserves a ton. I've never weighed a ton. He
deserves a ton of credit. Let's do the map. The map,
thirty teens, fifteen players, that's four hundred and fifty. He
has two sons that are contributing, will be contributing players
(16:56):
A four hundred and fifty in this in this league,
in the association, as we record, as we call it. Hey, Rob,
I'm spending this for Chris risad because Chris Man, I
love you. You kids, Jeff don't know, so we want
to spend this official. You could make this. You could
(17:17):
do it, take Chris on on him. You could say,
you kids, jeffs don't know how high it is to
get two of your son into the association of four
hundred and fifty players. Chris Man, Look, it is incredibly
for all whatever flaws you think he may have. Thanks Bruce,
that is incredibly impressed. There's no doubt. People in this country.
(17:42):
How you say that about Richard Williams, Venus and Serea. Yeah,
the same thing. Incredible and and and in and in
his case, even more incredible, Chris, because because they're just
aren't that many black women in tennis, you know what
I mean? Like, well, and they most of them, you know,
they start out there playing in these these teaching and
out of mes, you know what I mean. Like he
started them out playing in Compton on the regular tennis courts,
(18:05):
on the courts with the cracks in them and grass
growing in the middle of them, No doubt about it.
That's why I think it's incredible what he did, no doubt. Yeah,
I say this too. A lot of the other you know,
tennis stars had their issues, you know, like teenage tennis stars,
they had drugs and all types of stuff, and neither
(18:26):
one of them has had any issues like that. They
both obviously have been fine in their careers and and
off the court as well, So he deserves some credit
for that. Big time. Rafael in Brazil, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, my man?
What's up? Guys? Harder than tonight? We are good, brother,
How are you? I'm great? Right about Alex. It's always
(18:50):
a pleasure of my friend. Okay, Alex head's a little
big right now. But other than that, he's got his
own segment. Now. You know what I mean after segment. Now,
after the segment, Alex Alex, Alex has to get a
cigarette after the segment. That's how much you look This
segment is great, man, all of you working together and
(19:13):
having some fun. It's great. It's awesome. You guys must
have really something really special there in this in this
show man, because yes, it looks like it's great about LaVar.
But first, Rob, are you working on some new material
for your next stand up comedy routine? Yes? Yes, I'm
going to do another one, are you? Yes, I'm waiting, man, Yes,
(19:37):
I'm gonna do another one. One a year, yes, right,
we give out one a year. Okay, about I think
he deserve a lot of credit for raising their kids,
his kids to become athlete, you know, and to providing
them with a safe environment at home with his family
and all of that, But not with what he said
(20:01):
about the about his kids. I don't know, man, I
think he hurts them more than helped when it comes
to his proclamations on the medium. Now, it puts a
lot of pressure on them. There's no pressure, undue pressure.
Well you know what I mean, like undue pressure. And
there were people who are like trying to get at them,
to try to get at him, you know what I mean,
(20:22):
through the kids. Linzo from all thanks Chris is just
a quiet little kid who's really not you know, in
anybody's face or anything. And and his dad, like you
could just tell even on that ball in the family,
like you know, the dad is so overbearing heat. They
barely said anything. And they you know, they kind of
(20:43):
have broken away a little bit, you know, and like uh,
LaMelo signed with Puma, He's with rock Nation. You know,
Linzo's broken away a little bit. Obviously, they still got
good relationships and you want that hopefully they are everybody,
you know what I mean, right, But yeah, they got
to grow up and do their own thing. Hey, how
about Tori and Columbus Georgia. You're on the odd couple
(21:05):
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Tor? Hey, Robert Chris
doing man? Brother? How are you? I'm good man, I'm good,
I said. I give him eighty twenty because of this
this my friendly. He got him to the point where
the the attempted to be showcased because give the point,
you only have a limited sample of each brother, a
(21:27):
limited sample. So by his mouth and his word, he
got him out there So that's a good that's true,
you know what you're spot on on that and especially
and and Chris and LaMelo's case, you know, questionable competition,
you know, weak draft, you know, like everybody, and that
(21:48):
that's known. He still was the third pick. You can
say whatever you want, but a lot of things also
worked in his favor in this one. Well. Being in
this draft definitely helped him. You know, if it if
it was a bad their draft, it might be different.
I mean, but still he would have been drafted probably
in the top ten. So you gotta get him credit
for that. But you you hit it on the head, Rob.
(22:08):
We don't know what LaMelo can do. We really don't.
We really don't. Because if he didn't play anybody and
that's just the facts. The highlight good and yeah, and
I and I look, I saw him at the Drew
League last summer. I was up there and he played
and you know, you can't it's hard to get a
good read up there. But he played fine. He can ball.
I actually think he he should be better than lines up.
(22:32):
Of course, when I went to see him play, Chris,
I went to the game when they were in high
school and they were playing together. Yea, so he was
probably a French and it was it was LaMelo and
the middle kid not okay, those two. I saw those
two play and LaMelo was just I couldn't believe just
chucking up shots half or I mean it was it
(22:55):
was off. Was he hitting many of them who he
had an off night that day? That they can't shoot
that well? No? I was just like what he's just like,
what is all the buzz about these guys? And they
lost the game? If I remember, uh and uh, it
wasn't pretty well people are talking about it. He's he's
(23:16):
played very little serious basketball, you said it. On his
high school team, they cherry picked. He threw up any
shot he wanted to. And and then in Lithuania was
an exhibition league, not a real league. And then Inspire
High School in Ohio was just you know, it was
kind of built around him too. And then in Australia
(23:37):
they were the league paid him, not the teams, and
the league told the team, he's your starting point guard,
right right, And so because they want, you know what
I mean, they wanted they want to become like, you know,
get all our high school players and then have him
for a year and get them ready for the NBA.
So it's gonna be interesting to see what happens when
he's got to fight for a position. And that's what
(23:59):
a lot of Peo people are wondering. All right, Tyser's
Tower of Trivia's next, but first, Fox Sports Radio has
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all
of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within
the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live. It is
time for Ti Shirts Tower of Trivia, Ladies and gentlemen,
(24:22):

It's time. This game is so easy for tight shirts.
Tower of Trivia. Yes, Sir, Tister's Tower of Trivia, the
segment that proves you do not have to even like
sports to work in the sports media industry. The star
of the show, none other than the DJ himself are
(24:44):
mad Alex Tisher. Again, guys, you know this segment works.
I got ten sports topics, all very easy questions, all
one word answers. All you gotta do is h pop Alex,
climb the tower and get some of these answers right again.
Rules going full word no foreign language is Chris Broussard, Yes,
Chris is the and the one who's the cheetah, and
(25:06):
Rob's yeah, Rob Parker, one word no, remember what he
said and take into this account none of that. We're
gonna go quick, okay and running kind of late. We
got this, Rob, I'd flipped the coin in the pregame
and Rob Parker gets the first crack at it. Rob Parker.
In basketball, one word clue. If an offensive player scores
(25:28):
on a layup, he earns how many points for his team? Oh? Wow?
Basketball player? In basketball, they score a lay up? How
many points? Get a one word clue, Rob, Let's do this, Rob, couple,
let's go it too. That is correct. Let's go run
the board that Rob that I think I was going
known that one. Here we go Question number two. Chris
(25:50):
is up In baseball, if a pitcher throws four pitches
that are called balls by the Empire, he will have
issued a blank to the batter. Where we get stroll stroll.
I'm gonna kind of go with the same thing here
with Rob. I'm gonna go with walk CB. Is that
what we're doing here? Let's get yes, let's come. I
(26:13):
feel like he knew these two. He might be boning
up on his on the off days. Cbe, I'm coming
for your job. Now we're on the second level a
little bit tougher here, rab back to you. Because footballs
are made of a leather material, the actual balls are
sometimes referred to as blank skin. Oh and he's health
and sexual, so let's keep it clean. What you got
(26:37):
for me, Robin, I feel like you guys know me. Well,
now I'm gonna go with pig on this one. That
is correct. Let's oi oik here and oh ok the
oink everywhere on oink, But Alex, they don't go to
college and they don't buy a house. Rob Parker currently
(26:58):
up twenty to ten over Chris our Tites Tower Trivia
Question number four in football sticking a football again, When
the offense crosses the opposing twenty yard line heading it
to the end zone, they are said to have entered
the red blank. Chris CV, help me out here, all right,
(27:18):
um end oh man, you got five seconds and end
oh man to oh red no no, Alex, go ahead,
Rob for nine points. Rob, there we go, Alex twilight
(27:40):
blank one word. We're taking it to take a point.
We're taking a point and and Chris is getting the
first up. Next time, to read to qualify for that.
But go ahead, go ahead, Alex, Rob, Rob, you know
me so well, I'm gonna go zone on. This about
is correct? So that is that he can't say no.
(28:10):
If he had just said twilight now he should not
get those now. Chris gets first up. He's next to
this one, not this is you get eighty eight to ten.
Chris moving up the tower, getting a little tougher again.
Former NBA star and Freddy Hardaway had a great nickname.
(28:31):
He was known as Blank Hardaway. Sit scent, Oh gosh, smelly,
that is incorrect. What you got for me? All right? Um?
Send it again, Rob, you real quick? Afredny Hardaway was
(28:52):
known as Blank Hardaway. His nickname shiny flashy. That is incorrect.
Here we go, Here we go? Points nickel, Oh money,
that is incorrect. Ro alright, uh uh copper gold that
(29:16):
is incorrect. Seven points. That was for seven points he
went down for you guys, But four times already. The
word is penny point nickel nickel. That Chris isn't the
last one. I think Rob gonna win anyways, But it's
just for fun. Uh. In golf, if a player hits
his t shot and land in the gratty area just
(29:39):
off the fairway. He's hit it in the blank Oh
cbe what we got. I'm I'm gonna take a page
out of Rob Park. Okay, look, blank rider given up
point there whatever nine now if he gets it? Never
heard that, blank Rider. I'm gonna go with green on
(30:01):
this one is wrong. So he gave up points. He
looking to get it? Alright, go ahead? What I was saying? Yes,
what was his clue? Blank writer? Was his clue? Those
are terrible clips were able to cheat one word? Rob,
You already got the whale to blow it out of
the water. All right, Um, come on, Rob, Okay, here
(30:24):
we go. I need some bondage. Bondage is a family show.
Uh bondage, Rob, keep your personal life out? Oh man?
Fair that? Why would it be fair? The word is rough.
(30:48):
We did not get the bank I was gonna. I
was gonna say smooth. But then there you go. That
would have been better. You wouldn't have got it, probably not.
Now this is the third time play Alex has still
not got past the third levels hard. So we played
you were bad and I've won all three. Yes, no,
you won twice. We tied the first cheets blank da blank.
(31:16):
But that's not don't you that if you just did Twilight,
but that's how you dame to play a match game,
it would be like, so it works, which okay, So
I'll never use blank again. Alex, me and you, we
have such a bod. This chemistry is unbearable. Yes, I think, y'all.
I feel like I'm the flats right now. There you
(31:38):
go with my parma, garlic and a single rat. Enough,
keep it locked in the couple, Fox Work Radio, Big Things,
check the hitting list. I'm a little moist right now.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weak days at seven
pm Eastern, four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
(32:00):
the iHeartRadio app. All right, it's the Eye Couple Chris
and the Rob wrapping up a TV theme show Thursday.
This is the Black Friends. Don't you think that's fair? Round?
That's what they say. Who shows that are like that?
(32:21):
You know it was just like Friends, right, It was
just black people the same exactly. The problem with Friends,
Chris was you know this Friends was based where in
New York City and for that just to be all
white people and no other like it's just like a
(32:42):
false Like there's just no way you can move around
in that in that city, Chris without there being somebody
Asian or Indian or you know what I mean, Hispanic.
It's just it's just not it's just a false portrayal.
Seinfeld was kind of Now, they did have a they
had black a lot here and there. They had a
lot of different No, but they had like a babble
(33:05):
the Indian guy on the restaurant. There were there were
people they you know, uh, you know Chucky the pimp.
You know, God, Chris is all all over. But I
(33:28):
remember one black dude, the dude um you know him.
He was like a lawyer or something. He wasn't he was.
He was Cocklin, Johnny Cocklin. When Quaiman got burnt by
the coff remember y, yes, yeah, but that's the only
black person I remember. No, Georgia, I remember dated a
black or a guy she thought was black. Right, she
(33:51):
was right, she was trying to exactly, right, well you're black,
aren't you? I'm black? But yeah, right, he wasn't. Yeah,
and then when she found out he wasn't black, it
wasn't as as fascinating to him, right, right, right, Now
that's a good point about friends though you're right, You're
right about that. So all right, um our last topic.
(34:12):
What were we gonna get into because I've lost, Yes,
the Knicks. Speaking of loss, that's the perfect word, Yes,
New York. What a segue. The Knicks rob have released
six veterans, freeing up forty million dollars of cap room.
Now that being the rumor is that they're gonna go
(34:33):
ahead and get Gordon Hayward or you know, they're being
tied to him. They they might want to get him.
Here's the thing. If I'm Gordon Hayward, am I trying
to go to the Knicks? He turned down thirty four million?
It just doesn't make sense to me. Seriously, you might
as well stay in Boston, be a role player and
have a shot to win something. I don't understand that
(34:56):
at all because he's not that level of play. He's
a good very a good player, made, you know, an
All Star game or two, but he ain't carrying the
Knicks to nothing. So that I don't get it. I
just don't. And I don't know what the Knicks are doing, Chris.
I want to give them a chance, and the new
brain trust we know worldwide West, I know for many
(35:18):
many years. I'm glad he's a part of it and
all that, but I just I would like to know
what the game plan is. Well, look, I think, and
first of all, you gotta give some credit. And they
got well, Steve Mills got removed and Scott Perry is
still there for the year. We'll see if he lasts
beyond that. But they did put the Knicks in position
(35:42):
to be free agent players. They they cut a lot
of salary and payroll, and they signed guys to one
and two year deals. But Chris right, and but this
regime seems to be basically going the same route, right,
clearing cap space to try to be a desk the nation.
But who's does anybody want to go there? No? Because,
(36:04):
like you said, they've had money before. They had money
for Lebron. Wouldn't even even if ye get the Knicks.
They had money for Kyrie and for kay Brandy. And
they went to Brooklyn. Okay, like like they went they
went to New York, but they went to Brooklyn. So
so if you're the Knicks or you're you gotta go like, well,
(36:25):
what do we have to do? Because you remember Chris,
they were on the cusp of maybe getting Zion right,
if they got the first pick and they would have
had money for those two guys. Well, and that's where
there is a little bit of luck and that think
about it, they got the third pick, had they gotten one,
(36:45):
you know, the second pick, they get John Moran, you know,
and everything's different now. And if you had this much
money on your books or available with John Moran, I
think people will want to go play with you. But
I do think some guys just don't want all the
attention and scrutiny that comes from New York, right. I
think a lot of guys feel that way. Yep, a
(37:07):
lot of guys. It's an acquired taste, my man. You
know that. I that town. I worked in that town.
You No, it's not It is not easy at all. Um.
The last really good free agents I remember Alan Houston
and Larry Johnson and those guys. That's it, you know.
So that's been a long time ago. All right, We'll
(37:29):
see you guys tomorrow. Have a good night.
