(00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. We are the Odd Couple.
He's robbed. I am Chris. We're coming to you live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios, and we'll be joined
at the bottom of the hour by Fox Sports MLB
insider John Morosi to fill us in on all things MLB.
(00:46):
Of course, the big trade between the New York Mets
and the Cleveland Indians. Francisco Lindure, the gold Glove shortstop
on his way to the Big Apple. Rob that's right
on his way to Queens. Love it for the Mets.
But you know this, I mean, baseball is a fickle
sport as it is. We've seen a lot of guys
(01:07):
go to New York and not get it done. Oh,
it just depends on where it is. But the thing
is Chris, and this is a column I'm working on him.
I shouldn't say it but the Mets to me, look
like they're gonna be a player. Let's put it that way,
like like this is a new They used to have
a penny pinching, you know, like remember saying like the
(01:29):
old owner, remember they got they got beat out of
money in the made Off scandal, Chris. You know, like,
so the will Ponds weren't spending money. They were always
cutting corners or whatever. And the Mets just they went
to the World Series in twenty fifteen. It's not like
it was a hundred years ago, but they never could
sustain anything. They got a real owner who has deep pockets,
(01:50):
who was a Met fan, who grew up on Long Island, Chris,
all the things that you wanted an owner. All right,
well we'll get to that with John Murrosi. But before
we go there, obviously, this is a wild card weekend,
Rob and uh, I gotta be honest, I'm gonna share
a personal story with you. You know, the pandemic has
(02:11):
been horrible. Let's there's no if sands or buts about it.
But there's a few nice things that come out of it.
You know, there's some positives that kind of come out
of these people are spending more time with their families.
You know, you got time to open a book. You know,
you can't go everywhere you want to go like usual.
But for me wild card weekend it's obviously always great.
(02:37):
But you know, especially when I covered the NBA. My
wife's she's a you know, medical doctor and her practice
medical real doctor yet like his podiatrists or foot doctor.
Not she's a gastro entrologist. Can you share the gastro entrologists? Yes, yes,
(02:58):
I would have been able to mar her do colon
oscar piece. Oh man, I had a colon oscar bie
a week or two ago, my second one. Have you
had you need to go? Okay, good? Yeah? Yeah, yeah
she didn't do it, but I got it done in
their practice. And all you brothers out there men get it.
Take take care of it. Get that taken care of.
(03:19):
They knock you out right rout. Nowadays they put you out.
It ain't like before. Yeah, you don't have to dread
it like in the old days, where you little little
thing right and after no doubt, after it's done, you
might feel like getting engaged to somebody, but no, it's
(03:41):
so get if you if you're of age forty five
or over, I got my first one at forty seven
and just got my second one fifty two every five years,
and it took you know, like some people have a
history in their family, they more often exactly so, but
but get that taken care of. But anyway, they used
to always have have their you know, big Christmas or
(04:03):
holiday dance on wild Card Saturday. So I would be
there at the dance watching the game. No, I wish
I was watching the game. I'm there cutting the rug.
I mean, I'm I'm I'm cutting the rug now. But
still I want to be watching the game. And yeah,
I'm there at the at the at the medical dance.
(04:23):
You know what's funny, exactly I covered. I was NBA report,
so I didn't have to report on the games. But
still for my fiftieth birthday party, we had it in
New York, Chris at Clyde for Age's Restaurant on Ye
and that was it must have just been opening then Clyde's, Uh,
(04:43):
what's Yeah, it's a nice place. It's real nice. Yeah,
it's real nice. And I remember it too because it
was on wild Card weekend because my birthdays this weekend
right on Sunday, so it was it was a wild
Card weekend and Bayless showed up and uh Ernestine. But
it was in between the two games, like he had
(05:06):
a window or whatever it was, so he went on
what I made it briefly, so he came. He came
for a while or whatever. I thought that was really nice,
you know, like because you know Skip wants to watch
the game. Yeah, yeah, but he was there. He would
not miss my fiftieth birthday party. I always good shit
at that. That's good fifty And that was a long
was Skip on TV at that point? What when I
was fifty? That was a long Yeah, that was a
(05:27):
long time ago. That's only seven years. He was still
a Chicago Tribune or I'm covering the Cowboys or something. Right,
all right, bro, let's get to it. Wild Card weekend.
Here's the question I wanted to throw at you. Which
quarterback has the most to prove this weekend? So we're
not including Aaron Rodgers and Pat Mahons who have buys,
(05:50):
but this weekend, which quarterback have the most has the
most approved? I'm gonna give you the matchups. You got
Philip Rivers against Josh Allen. You've got Jared Goff against
Russell Wilson. You got Tom Brady against Alex Smith and
you know maybe the other guy. They might do both.
We'll see Lamar Jackson, Ryan Tannehill, Mitch Trubisky, Drew Brees,
(06:14):
Baker Mayfield, Ben Roethless, Burger, who you got. I think
we both know that Lamar Jackson has to win a
playoff game. He hasn't won us his third years on two,
so he has to win a playoff game. I think
that's obvious, right, would you say that? Yeah, and now
I'll give him that. I'll give him that like Thomas,
that he has to win a game. He not to be. Yeah,
(06:37):
it's not the end of the world because he's still
so young. He remember paid, but he needs to win
a playoff game. But yeah, and they've been playing. They've
they've won what five or six in a row, Chris,
they've been everybody to use your for me, they've been
playing Patsy's right. But they're blowing them out out. Yeah no,
but they're blowing them out with the way they when
I say something about my homes, you don't, you don't,
(06:58):
you don't give me that. You just you just hone
in on the Patsy Park. I'm just saying you do
you know, I'm right, No, I don't know anyway, I'm good.
I'm going off the board. I'm going off the board.
I'm gonna pick Drew Brees because yep, Drew Brees hasn't
(07:22):
got a super Bowl right, No, No, but he didn't.
He hadn't looked that great since he came back from
the half a slab ribs issue that he had. Uh
what was the game they played? Not the last game,
the game before that. He had the two He had
two or three interceptions, no touchdowns. He just didn't look
that good in the first week. He didn't look that good.
I don't remember his numbers. He doesn't look the same. Yes,
(07:46):
and this is a team that has a really good defense, Chris,
A team that some people picked to go to the
Super Bowl. I did before the season started. And I
think that people need to see, like, what's that? You
sound like you're all of that. Yeah, I'm I want
to see. I want to see what what they do.
(08:06):
I'm not off of it yet. I'm not you going
with Green Bay. No, I'm not. I'm sticking by I'm
picking Baltimore and I'm picking New Orleans. That's my preseason
pick pick. I'm sticking with my pick. But anyway, I
think he has something, Chris. If they're going to make
a run, they have a defense. Alvin Kamara is a
(08:27):
great running back, Chris. They got almost all the ingredients,
but but he's the weak link. He's gotta be better,
I think. And and the first game, right who they're
playing the Bears, right, yeah, I mean you got you
gotta get you gotta beat the Bears. And and he
has to play well. And I'm looking for him to
(08:49):
prove that he can get them because this looks like
this is his last year and he's going to NBC Sports, right,
Chris is not the talk that he's gonna take over
for Chris collins Worth. Right, That's that's what people are saying.
So I think that he has something to prove this weekend.
Look you said it at the top. Of course, it's Lamar, right.
(09:09):
I mean, he's got to win a playoff game. If
he doesn't, and I'll give him that he's young. We
all know it. He's still got plenty of thy or something, Chris.
He must be twenty four, is twenty four, twenty five
something like that, probably twenty five. Check that out, Lee,
if you can. But um, so he's got time though,
(09:31):
although I do think it's not quite as much as
your average, you know, big arm quarterback. But he's he's
twenty five, but he's still got time. It won't be
the end of the world, but you know, Robin, today's climate,
it will be ratcheted up. Next year will be very
tough on the Baltimore Ravens if they don't win at
least one playoff game, right, you're gonna go through that
(09:56):
whole season. And this year was like this to some degree.
But if they don't win the first playoff game, they
gotta go through all the next season. I don't care
if they go sixteen and oh, no one's gonna care.
It's all gonna In fact, that would just put more
pressure on you. So they need to win a playoff game.
(10:17):
He needs to kind of he's he's great as it is.
I don't want to say validate himself, but you know,
people want to see can you do it in the postseason.
But I'll give you a little bit about Breeze. Um yeah,
I mean he's got the Super Bowl though you know,
he's obviously got a lot of records. Here's the thing,
(10:40):
Rob and I'm gonna go a little further than just
wild Card weekend. If he wins the super Bowl this year,
does it move him up? I know he wants to win,
and he's competitive and and it'd be great for him
to win, and New Orleans and all that, But I
don't think it moves him up. But he wouldn't move
I Aaron Rodgers. I'm talking about in the historical ranking. No,
(11:03):
but but I think people would look differently at him
a little bit, Chris, from the standpoint of winning more
than one, winning a second super Bowl. You saw Peyton
Manning did it where he wanted to a super Bowl,
and I know he was the ten man in that
play and it was all about the defense and what
they did to cam Uh to stop him. But he
(11:23):
went out with a second one. I think another super
Bowl with this team, considering where they are. They've been
up and down. You've said it with the record, Chris,
where they didn't make the playoffs. What was it three
years in a row? Yeah, I mean, so to go
out on top. It's just the way people look at you, Chris.
Do you know what I'm saying? Like it's always like
a boxer. People remember the way that they see you
(11:45):
at the end if you're getting beat up or or
or you win your last fight and you walk out
and you triumphant. There's something about walking away with a championship,
like like John Elway's career, Chris, would you would you
agree with me? John Elway winning those last I think
two super Bowls it heightened him, Yes, but he had
lost what three his first three? Right, but he was
(12:07):
still a hell of a quarterback. He those two super Bowls, though,
raised his stature. That's what I'm saying, would not be
he'd be a Hall of Famer on it, he wouldn't
be as highly regarded as he changes. I don't think.
And you're right, it will be a great story. Last year,
(12:28):
you know, win the Super Bowl, walk out on top
DiDia New Orleans. Yeah, you were injured, I mean the
whole nine yards. It'd be great for him. But would
it Would it move him ahead of anybody? I don't
think it moved him ahead of Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning.
Would he move him ahead of Brett Farve? May? Maybe? Maybe?
(12:50):
Maybe maybe a Brett Farve. Brett Farr won one Super Bowl,
Christie's then all time interceptions leader. I know he played,
had the consecutive game playing streak. I got that. He
was a you know, Darren gunslinger through the ball around,
had some exciting moments. I covered a playoff game where
he threw like a sixty yard touchdown at the end
(13:10):
to beat the Lions in the playoff game and the
old Pontiac Silver Dome Chris back in the early nineties.
You know, so I saw some of Brett Farves magic
and I covered some of those playoff games. So, yeah,
that might be a guy. Could he do it? Could? Would?
He would, would Drew Brees maybe maybe be thought of
higher than Bret. I don't think he'd go to another tier.
(13:30):
Let's put it down when I think you would agree
with that, Like, I don't think it takes him to
another tier? Is that fair winning a second one? Yeah,
I think people would look at him differently. I would
love to hear what people think. He's just not thought. Look,
he's an all time great Hall of Famer all that,
but he's not. I think it's the dinkin dunk and now,
(13:52):
especially now, he doesn't throw deep. I just don't think
he's as highly regarded as some of the guys that
have done. You know, not not even done as much
as him, you know, because they had the powerful arm.
And you know what I mean, Like I said, Aaron Rodgers,
He's if Drew wins this Super Bowl, He's got two
to Aaron's one. I'm not putting him ahead of Aaron
(14:14):
Rodgers though, And he's got numbers like Rogers, right, you
know what I'm saying. So it's it's an interesting thing.
Let's see what their listeners think. Eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. What would win him his second Super
Bowl this year? Due for Drew Brees, You'll turn away
(14:35):
and with Chris and Rob The Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. You can't be green. Here we go.
Come on, Chris, it's the I Couple. Now, I'm gonna
let you read. Acres is the place for me? Oh
(15:00):
for meahha? Why Keith Manhattan? Just give me that countryside?
Oh that's the Green Acres classics. I was so young,
but I remember watching that was a stupid show. I
think the writers were on LSD. It was Chris. I'm
(15:25):
not even kidding you. You know why Chris. Nobody knows
any storylines from those shows. There's no story I'm dead serious.
Like great shows, you know when you go, oh, that
was the episode when this happened, you know, like you know,
like the Honeymoons cheers like you know, you cannot give
me a storyline for any Green Acres because none of
(15:45):
them made sense. It's the eye couple on the TV
theme song Thursday. All Right, business today moves faster than ever,
and if you're slow to adapt, then you will trust me,
will get left behind. If you're still running on and
things like quick books, well it's time to hit the
gas and accelerate with net Sweet. Let net Sweet show
(16:06):
you how it will benefit your business with a free
product tour at nextweek dot Com slash odd all right
eight seven seven ninety nine on a Fox eight seven
seven nine sixty three sixty nine. We want to throw
it out to you. How much will it change impact
Drew Brees's legacy if he wins this Super Bowl a
(16:26):
second super Bowl title, You'll turn to win all right,
Dan and Washington, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? Dan? Hey tell us? How are
you guys doing? Doing? Good? Good? Brother? How are you good?
Long time listener? I love you guys. Thank one thing.
I just I just want to get back to something
you had mentioned before the break about this elevating Breeze
(16:49):
past five. You guys are absolutely nuts. There is no way. Okay,
Breeze is a probably top ten, top twelve quarterback. But
Brett Farve is the face of a franchise of a city.
He's not even the best quarterback is franchises. Yes, and
(17:11):
we didn't say it would definitely do it. We said
it might. But let me ask you this. When you
say Green Bay Packers, you think Lombardi snow Brett excuse
met and Brett far hold On. He's Aaron Rodgers not
(17:33):
better than Brett Farve. I will listen. I'm a Packers fan.
Aaron Rodgers isn't. And you think of quarterback in his
exactly because Bart stars there. Everybody knows Bart Star. I
don't care that name. You just said it. Aaron Rodgers
has passed Brett Farve. Okay, when you think of New Orleans,
(17:58):
you think of Offish, Hey, when you think of the
last thing on the menu, that's because New Orleans got
a lot more going on than Green Bay, Wisconsin. But
hold on, when you think of the New Orleans Saint,
who do you think of? So honestly, all right, No,
(18:26):
I think about that blocked kick that happened ten years ago,
and they Drew Brees is the face of that franchise
if he wins the second one. We appreciate the needs
the face. But no, no, no, all right, Bruce and
South Carolina, you're on the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Bruce? Hey, Hey, what's going on? Robin Chris?
I love this show. I tell you, listen to the
(18:47):
show every day. Man. No, I do want to make
one comment. Let's run the bread far and Drew Brees
comparison a little bit, because that's a good one. Drew
Brees's issue as far as listening him up on the legacy.
He never won a regular season MVP. Brett Farve did
that three times, so I think that gives to much
of a leverage in that case. Winning the Super Bowl,
(19:07):
it's going to be a heat of the moment, So
I would say so but I think when the smoke settles,
I don't know if it really moves him. But the
other one that that's kind of what we were talking about, right,
that's fair. I mean I don't know. And and and
the other part too though, is that Brett Farve super Bowl?
Um it was Desmond Howard was the MVP. I'm just saying,
(19:28):
And if Brett farr and and and the thing is
this this And granted, Drew Brees has done a lot
more than Eli Manning, but you know, Eli's two Super
Bowls don't move him ahead of you know, a Brett
favor anybody. But that's gonna get him in the Hall
of Fame. I mean, that's right to But I hear
what the fall is saying, like, does Farve is just
more iconic than Breed? Oh hey, lie, Still, I don't
(19:52):
know if another Super Bowl changed. Go ahead, one more
quick point. If he remember before he retired, after he retire,
he did lead the league touchdowns. I don't know, I
know there's anything now, but that was something at the time.
It wasn't like he was a complete interception machine. Yeah,
all time leading interception guy too, though you gotta admit
that he was. He was famous for throwing picks to
end playoff games. Well, I tell you what, right, it
(20:14):
would be interesting nowadays because the interceptions that would drop
down his his quarterback rating keep can't be in the
top ten because of all those interceptions. Chris. Yeah, he
would get a lot more credit and granted a lot
of the all time greates through a lot of interceptions,
not like him. I'm more. Yeah, they threw a lot more.
They do that, all right. Hey, you know what, let's
(20:35):
talk to walking Willie in New Orleans. Walking Willie in
New Orleans drove the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
We're doing good, walking Willie. Oh, okay, what's yo, Pa,
(20:55):
Chicago's got a good page. You be a Saints fan, hey, Walking?
So why are you scared of the Bears? Hey? It's
cause the mad when the dog go bad one on
the Super Bowl? What need you? Didn't they put my
money frigate the man back to you. That was thirty
(21:19):
five years ago. Yes, that was thirty five. Uh. They
gonna put that guy kicking in the back three hundred
and eighty when you get down in the red dog going,
if my brother to breath, somebody and white would let
(21:39):
him prey with all the voting read that don't make sense. Well, look,
I wouldn't be mad if walking Willie's right round, because
that would eliminate your team. What shouldn't be mad at him?
If the Bears? If the Bears beat the New Orleans
that would that would be up there, that would match
up for my pick. You know, I wouldn't know what
(22:00):
the seedings would be, but that would be that would
be definitely a big time upset. All right, let's squeeze in.
Uh oh my god, let's squeeze in Sewan and Sacramento.
You're on they couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Sean,
I'll go from another mother. I thought you was about
to forget my name there, No, I love you about
(22:23):
to be fifty seven years old? These types? How many
they're gonna be happening more and more? What Christian? Hey? With?
How much love y'all keep getting from these Sacramento callers. Man,
y'all might have to do a live show from up
north California real quick. But no, we'll do We'll do
that obviously. I'm going to a place I'm all in.
(22:43):
We love live shows, yes, yes, Hey and Rod, we
don't just got one strip club. We got a whole
blocker strip clubs up here, man, come up here, quick, up?
Do you know Industrial District? But they there, Baby, I
don't know why I know that, but I know that.
I've been to Sacramento. One of my good friends was
(23:05):
was the h editor of the Sacramento b Tom to Grety,
that's right. I remember you talking about that. You said
you were spending time by the pool and everything with
his wife and everything. Big right. Absolutely, you know I'm
a listener. But because it sounds like he's getting crazy, No, no, no,
I'm not saying just the pool, somebody's wife. My play
(23:31):
real quick, guys, is as far as rubrizos man, even
if he wins his super Bowl, we're not gonna say
it was him. It's gonna go down the same way
peyton Man in second Ring went down. We're gonna credit
the defense, We're gonna credit Alvin Kamara, We're gonna credit
the coaching for making everything happen. So I don't really
feel like he has as much pressure as Josh Allen.
Now that's somebody who's been hyped up by all the
(23:51):
big sports analysts. People talking about this should be tenant.
Oh right now. If it wasn't for the Hall Murray.
So if he goes in there, especially Buffalo, that's the
town hungry for. I think they're even gonna have a
couple of people in the stands during that game, if
I'm not mistaken. So if he can't deliver on this
playoff game against the hapless philip Rivers and the Indianapolis
Colts who barely squeaked by, hey, I think it's gonna
be a lot of fall out if they can't pull
(24:12):
this out this weekend. He's young, you know what I'm saying, Robin.
I get it. It would be nice. It would be
a kind of a damper on a great season. But
are we really holding it against him like that? No,
not yet. It's too y. It's too ear soon. It's
too soon, Bro, too soon, Bro, too soon? Yeah, yeah,
(24:33):
all right, we got our man, John Eroshi Bro MLB
inside the Fox Sports coming up next. But first the
gas Man, David gas On, big biggest Luke Guardza fan
in America. That's that with Sam your second No, definitely not.
Didn't compare him to Luca, you did. We're trying to
(24:54):
run from it now, I'm not. But if you're gonna
make your way to Sacramento for a strip club. Chris,
you can make strip club. You know that we're trying
to go to church. You're trying to go to the
strip club. You hall strip club. I said he would
go to church if I went to a strip club. Yes,
I told you. We would make a fan train. Can't
(25:16):
do that. You could do both of the Golden Girls
cruise around two right, Rob is never talking about the
Golden Girls Cruise. What do you want me to tell you?
I want you to tell me what happened. We'll get
you talked about it for two for a full year,
and then he gets back, I don't want to talk
about it. Well, to be fair in his defense, did
(25:37):
he go Antarctica and then to the cruise? Yes? No, no, no,
no it Wasta was in December, and then the cruise
was like March, right before the pandemic. Yes, I came
back right one of the that's right, because you had
to actually quarantine guys. Guys. College basketball number one gets
Zaga is blowing out b YU fifty two to twenty nine,
(26:00):
and Wisconsin right now in overtime is looking a wrap
up shop against Indiana fifty nine it's gonna be seventy
nine to seventy three. College football DeVante Smith of Alabama
has won the Blitna COOMF Award, given to the nation's
best wide receiver in all the land. And guys, as
I sent it back to you with John Palm Rose,
so you're gonna ask him because he uh, he was
playing a pain close attention to the world Junior's last
(26:22):
couple of days Team USA and Team Canada. I know
you guys aren't big hockey guys, but still nevertheless, yeah,
I don't think that will make it. Gas man. Hey,
all right, I just inject the gore, but you already
know I've worked in hockey towns. That's right. Maybe plenty
of hockey in Detroit's right? All right? Thank you, gas man.
(26:44):
And are you with us tomorrow or not? Um no,
not tomorrow. Steak Day will wait for another week or two. Yeah. Yeah,
I'm telling you, I'm trying to get out there. I'm
looking now, gift Card, do not let me fly out day.
Don't wait on Chris coming out here, because it will
be twenty twenty seven and we'll be celebrating our tenth
anniversary on the air man. Just say the word, and
(27:07):
you got two Sizzlers gift cards and Mastros baby up
Vastros Mastros. Yes, all right, thank you, my man. We're
coming to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
We got John Morosi, Fox Sports MLB Insider joining us. John,
Happy New Year, Happy New Year, christ and Robbi. I
was actually thinking that I was coming out on the
(27:27):
year tonight to talk about the Lions playing in the
NFL playoffs. Did that not happen this year? Uh? No,
I did not know. Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn. Yes,
so I've been saying Chris and Robin for forever that
one of these years that we're gonna get a Lions
and Browns Super Bowl. Now, maybe maybe Cleveland makes it
(27:49):
this year, but apparently not the Lions. I'm I'm I'm
proud of my Browns. I know, I know Browns. Yes, yes,
they're looking well. I'm not proud of Cleveland. I'm not
proud of the Indians because I just I got an issue.
I love what the Mets did, and it looks like
their owner has got plenty of money. He's going to
make things happen. They're the new players in town. So
(28:11):
let's look at it by both sides. John, what does
it say to Cleveland fans that they can't sign one
of their own a star player in Lindoor and what
does it say about the Mets. Well, I think from
Cleveland's perspective, this was coming for a long time. I
think we knew that likely and this was even the
case before the pandemic, that Lindor was probably not going
(28:33):
to sign a long term deal there. And you think
about the history of the organization, Almost every superstar player
who goes through this and gets closer to becoming a
free agent, whether it's CC Sabathia, whether it's Cliff Lee,
this is just part of the organization's DNA because of
their market size, because of the fluctuations and attendance that
(28:54):
they've had in Cleveland for a long time. That this
is just standard procedure for them doesn't make it right
or wrong. But this is what they've been doing for
a very, very long time. If you look at how
they've played Robin Christ, you shoutinly know this very well.
They've been one of the very best teams in baseball
from the standpoint a regular season winning percentage since twenty thirteen,
since Terry Francona took over. But they missed their window.
(29:18):
Quite simply, they missed their window and the economic reality
of not knowing if you're gonna have fans there in
twenty twenty one because of COVID nineteen are they only
really has accelerated or made even more obvious what was
a pretty clear decision from their perspective. And they did
not get back one of the top ten prospects in
(29:39):
the game. They got back a decent package, one that
should still help them compete in the Al Central, but
they are not entering the season as front runners to
win the division. And in fact, if you think about
where their payroll is now and the talent they've got,
this is probably a five hundred team at best as
they begin twenty twenty one. What about the Mets, I mean,
(30:02):
how does that you know, everybody's raving about this trade
for them. How does this change baseball you know going
into next season? Well, I think, Chris, I mean to me,
the Mets are now finally behaving like the large market
team that they're supposed to be. And this is obviously
taking an ownership change where it to happen. But this
(30:23):
is the most excitement that I can recall around the
Mets since two thousand and five when they signed both
Pedro Martinez and Carlos Peltron that that is a I
think a point of pride for Met fans who are
now looking at it and saying, hey, Yankees, look at
the players that we've got. We now have the owner
who wants to spend. We have the superstar players that
(30:45):
everybody wants to see in New York and this matters.
This matters in the largest city in our country. It
matters to a huge fan base that's been waiting for
a day like this. And they'll probably add one more reliever.
They may even add an other marquee position player at
George Springer. This is a watershed day in the history
(31:07):
of baseball in New York, and I think at a
time when the game is looking for some positive storylines,
Francisco Lindor with that mega watt smile playing in New
York is manifestly great for baseball. And what about Sprito?
Is there any chance of that? I mean, you know,
all it would take really is for it Mets to
pay them, and they probably could land him. And what
(31:28):
would that do for the Mets and their fans? If
they get sprit as well. Well, it's really interesting, Rob
and Chris, because you look at the National League East,
that division has the team that won the World Series
in twenty nineteen, a team that got to within one
game of going to the World Series this year in
the Atlanta Braves. Still a really good team in Philly
(31:49):
with with Bryce Harper there now, and I think it's
a solid rotation. And then oh, by the way, the
Miami and Rlands coming off a playoff birth. This is
the best division top to bottom this acquisition alone. Do
I think the Mets are the favorites. I think they're
getting there. I think they're really close. And I would
if you compare the Braves rosters the Mets roster, and
(32:11):
you consider the Mets rotation now adding Carlos Carrasco, let's
not forget about that part of the deal too. I
think right now I like the Mets roster the best
of this entire division. John Morosi, MLB insider for Fox Sports.
Joining the a couple, let's go to the NL West.
San Diego's made some noise. You who you, Darvish, Blake Snell,
(32:32):
I've already got you them ahead of the Dodgers. I'm
already on John Yeah. So for me, Chris, I still
I disagree with Robb here. I I don't have the
Padres ahead of the Dodgers. They've closed the gap, for sure,
they've closed the gap. But the Dodgers, that you think
about their bullpen, it's still so solid. They've just added
(32:53):
Blake Trinon this week. Their rotation you think about Kershaw
and Juio Riyas is getting better year by year. I
think the Dodgers is still the team to beat out there,
But the Padres, ironically, they are I would say, in
my estimation, the second best team in the National League West,
and then they may also be the second best team
in all of baseball. This is almost you think about
(33:17):
how for years we had the Red Sox and Yankees,
two best teams in the sport. We're in the same division.
We might be back to that right now, except for
the NL West, and it's the Dodgers and Podres. I
think it's great with the Padres have done. And the
key thing is, guys, the reason why that's all possible
is that aj Prother built such a great farm system
that allowed him to make those two major splashes and
(33:37):
not have to worry so much about the free agent market,
worrying about where the price points are for Trevor Bauer.
Forget about it. You make the trade for the pitchers
and you move on. I think they made a really
good decision there, aj Pro and the Padres and making
those two trades. And here's the only thing I'm going
to do say quickly is last year only two teams
had more wins than the Padres. And you know what
(33:59):
two teams they were, the two teams that were in
the World Series. They are going to be to me.
And I think the Dodgers have won the Division eight
years in a row. At some point, Kershaw's getting older.
I know they've won the World Series. I just I
feel the Padres coming after last year. You know they
made the playoffs. They didn't get there. But I really
(34:22):
believe when you add pitching and those kind of guys,
saw young award winning guys at the top of your rotation,
it pushes everybody else down. And I think they got
a shot. I'm picking them to win the NLS. Yeah,
it's gold, Robin. I love it to remember this too.
To your point, de Nelson Lamett, who was injured in
the playoffs this year. If he had been able to pitch,
(34:44):
it might have been a very different series between the
Padres and the Dodgers. So to your point, Lamente comes back,
it's really like they're adding three pitchers to the rotation
that they did not have against the Dodgers this year.
So it's a great point by you, and it's good
for baseball. Listen, there's a lot of concerns still. The
market's been still. I get that. At the end of
the day, you got Fernando top T strainer with a
chance to plan a great team in San Diego, and
(35:05):
then Lindore with the New York Mets. All right, John,
great stuff, man, We sh shay did have a good weekend.
I always other conversation, guys, and we'll keep working at
the Lions Browns super Bowl is gonna happen someday, my friends, Sunday.
But in the meantime, Chris, I'm poored for the Browns.
How about that. I'm poor for your week. I'm with that,
my brother, thank you? Thanks? Yeah, all right. Speaking of Ohio,
(35:28):
is somebody from Ohio getting some extra special treatment that
they shouldn't be. We'll get into that. Next is the
a couple, Grisson Rob Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio

DJ Alex Tisher puts his mix in there, but all
this original, Yeah, that was the that's what the movie.
You're going for another drop? I'm not going. I already
(36:11):
got to tonight. Oh gosh, did I do that? Did
I do that? Oh my gosh. All right, anyway, it
is the ID couple, Chris and Rob, and we are
headed into an NFL wild card weekend and you know
(36:35):
we can't wait, all right, but uh, we also got
college football or Monday, Rob is the College football Championship
Alabama Ohio State. Now Ohio State is going through a
lot of issues with COVID, and so you know, it's
been broached that they might postpone the game until the eighteenth.
(36:56):
I think they should because it's the only game left.
You don't back up the season, it doesn't cause any complications.
We want the best game. We want both teams at
their best if possible, and we want to see a
great college football game. So I'm I would like I
(37:17):
would like them to back it up and give both
teams a fair shot. Only there are a lot of
go ahead, go ahead. I was just gonna say, some
people think Ohio States already getting too many favors. They
that Big Ten changes rules so they could play in
the championship. Then they got to the playoffs with just
six games played, you know, so this would just be
(37:39):
another example of that in people's minds. But I think
they need to do it for the the good of
college football. Yeah, the problem here is it's the pandemic
has nothing to do with Ohio State. They the two
teams that had came down with COVID, Chris. What could
they do? Seriously, like, like what could they do? Michigan
canceled the game, and I can't remember the other game
(38:00):
that got canceled on them. They had nothing to do
with it. It wasn't like them. They didn't play three,
they didn't didn't play Yeah, right, but but it wasn't
like it was because of them. They run a game
if I remember late in the season, Chris, where they
had like fifteen or sixteen players out right, right, So
so I get it where people are saying, oh, they're
(38:20):
bending over backwards. But here's the only other problem. If
you're delayed again, what happens, Chris? If there's another outbreak?
Then you do you see? I mean you might be
three weeks. Do you see what I'm saying? But it
could be like three weeks. I hear you. That makes sense.
You gotta be careful because you keep pushing it back,
and now you're playing a championship game where guys haven't
(38:43):
played in three weeks. I don't I don't know if
that's good football. No, that's not good. There's no way
you're You're absolutely right about that. But doesn't it I mean,
don't you want to see though these two teams that
they I mean, if if Ohio State is seriously depleted
and it's a route, I mean, it could be a
route anyway, but you know, if it's a route because
(39:04):
Ohio State doesn't have their best players or or at
least significant depth or whatever you want to call it,
that that that's not good. I hear you, though, you're right.
I mean what if the next week Clemson comes right,
and then you'll be like, oh, well that's not fair,
because yeah, that's not that's not fair to Alabama, you
know what I mean? Right, So then you you say, oh, well,
(39:26):
let's postponed again another week. I'm just saying, like, those
are the scenarios you have to honestly think about. You
can't say, well, we postponed a week. It's no big
deal because everybody will be ready to go to following week.
Really like really, right, that's that's fair, that's fair. Where
it sounds like they're planning on playing anyway. UM. Dan
(39:49):
Patrick said this recently a source or something, right, yeah, yeah,
and he said that, uh, there's particular concerns around o
House as defensive line, all right, and obviously that's a
big part of their team, a big part of every team,
but that was huge against Clemson. UM, but that they're
(40:10):
they're getting very close to the availability limit. You know,
it could get to a point where you gotta move it,
you gotta back it up a week. But you're right
that you're you always run that risk of other guys
get it. You know. I don't know, maybe you know,
can you heighten the the quarantine, you know, heighten the
(40:32):
almost put the team in a bubble. I think it'd
be worth it, and I think the players would do it. Well,
you have to try to do something right. I know
what you mean. A block on. Get to run out
the whole hotel, Chris for a week, nobody can come
in or whatever, and try to see if you get
everybody cleared and then keep them, you know, confined. Yeah,
(40:54):
well it sounds like at least at this point it's
still all ago for Monday night, so we will see.
Just hope, you know, teams are as healthy as they
can be and we get a good game. All right,
