Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listen the Fox sports you all right, we're looking
back just a bit, just a bit. We'll get that
in just a minute. But right now, good morning America,
Good morning to you. If you're just waking up, just
coming in, whatever it may, be, happy to have you.
I'm a defirmative now. It is my pleasure. But let
me roll out the red carpet plays. This guy is unbelieved.
Plus I understand through my friend Jonas Knocks that he

(00:23):
plays Santa Claus. He's bucket class in the Christmas time,
so we're looking forward to that down the road. But
here he is. Yes, yes, former NFL star, now star
of stage and screen as well, the one and only
Bucky Brooks. Hello, Buck, how are you? I'm good, I'm good,
I'm good. What's going on? And you sounding great? You're

(00:43):
looking even better. I tell you what, it's a pleasure
to have you here because there are so many questions
that I have about professional football, and you leave me
in the right direction. I love having you here, I
really do. And there's nothing to do with my former
co host, because I enjoyed it as well. But you
were there, you played the game, and I look, I
understand there are athletes that say, you never played the game,

(01:04):
so you can't talk about it, And I come back
with the statement that, you know what, I never ran
for office, but you could talk politics. And people do
you know talk show hosts general talk, they never have
a politics, but they're talking about political issues. So you
know it goes both ways, right, It does go both ways.
And as long as you have in uh informed opinion,

(01:25):
I'm all about it. But we do have a lot
of fun today talking about a bunch of different things.
Hell yeah, hell yeah. By the way, I say, looking
back just a little bit, the Bengals and the Rams
lost in Week one, first time since that. Two Super
Bowl participants from the previous year lost in their season opener,
and I say, and maybe on wayoff based on this,

(01:45):
Both of these coaches come from this same pedigree. Was
a Sean McVeigh and Zach Taylor is as Sean McVeigh,
kind of branch off the tree, if you will, And
both of those guys do not believe in playing the
regulars in the preseason. And as far as the Bengal
game was can and I watched that last week, it
looked like these guys are strangers on the football field.
I think there's something to be said about not playing

(02:06):
in the preseason being a lot of rust on you
when you go in the opener. Yeah, that's oppos the
debate and the rest versus RUSS. Do you want you
guys to get to the regular season healthy or do
you want to have to kind of playing that peak
condition when they're getting in And I think what you
saw is two teams that were just still trying to

(02:27):
get up to game speed. And for those teams and
for most of the teams, it takes the first two
or three games before you're able to play NFL tempo
tackle the way you're supposed to tackle in the regular season,
understand the intensity and the pace of the game. Sometimes
when you don't go hard in training camp, it takes
a little longer for you to port those things off.
And I heard something the other day from a former

(02:48):
NFL player. I believe me, I forgot the name. My
head is in a bit of a fog, but he
said something and I thought it was very very apropos
He says, September NFL is now the new pre season. Yeah,
it's true, very true, because that's how some teams are
treating it. They're using joy practices to evaluate the team.
They're using the preseason games to play the bottom part

(03:11):
of the roster, and then they're using September to figure
out what they have when it comes to the players.
Not only what do we have in terms of the team,
how closely does it look to how we thought it
was going to look based on the off season movement,
But okay, now we have to play a certain way
based on what we have because the other part of it,
like all the off season training camp or whatever, you're

(03:33):
speculating on how you have to play. Once you get
into September, you start playing real games, then you have
to make decisions on how you actually have to play.
And so that's why that player talks about September being that.
And I'll say this, you know, with the seventeen game schedule,
I don't think there's a real need to panic if
you dropped the first game. I look at the schedule
last year, being in the Cincinnati area, the Bengals go

(03:55):
to the Super Bowl and the record was ten and seven.
They dropped seven games, They're still a super Bowl participant.
Not that big of a deal. I don't think a
loss in September so we move on. I mean some
of the surprises I saw last week, and maybe you'll
agree and disagree, but se Kwon Barkley of the Giants Giant,
I mean, this guy has been so banged up since

(04:17):
he left Penn State. It's not even funny. Knee injuries,
back injuries, wherever it may be. This guy rushed from
one sixty four and a touchdown, had that two point
when a conversion over Tennessee. The Giants were a surprise,
and what a gutsy call. I tell you what, You've
got a lot of hanging down things. They have to
make a call like that and the Giants up. I

(04:37):
guess you have to call it an upset. I think
it was beating Tennessee on the road last week, so
that to me was a big surprise last week. Jacksonville
losing at Washington two not that big of a surprise.
But they're running back. James Robinson had sixty six yards
and eleven carries. Kind of a bright spot there. We'll
see what Jacksonville does today. As we rolled down with

(04:59):
Bucky Brooks on the games today, Okay, and you know
Mike Harmon does join us, and I went number three
the Detroit Lions. I was pulling for the Lions. Why.
I watched the Lions during hard knocks and I fell
in love with their coach. However, I'm still waiting for
a reply from him, as I do write letters all
over the world. But I'm sure he's busy and my
letter is probably in his stack of mail to return.

(05:20):
We'll see. I'll keep you informed with that. But they're
running back DeAndre Swift one under seventy five total yards
and a rushing touchdown, and the lost to the Eagles,
and pressed with that, We'll see what the Lions do today.
I love to see them get on the winning track.
I like that, I really would. And a matter of fact,
I mean I'm getting a little tired of watching the
Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day and not winning, you know.

(05:41):
I mean, let's face it, there comes a point in
time when you're a fan and you just throw your
hands up and say, the hell with it. I'm not
rooting for them anymore. And that's the way I feel
for some of the people in Detroit. You've been through
so many hard times for so many years. Please, I'd
love to see the Detroit Lions do something, make some
noise this year. All right, let's look at the Washington Commander.

(06:02):
Is what happened a week could go? Quarterback Carson Wentz
four passing touchdowns. I was impressed with that, more so
even with the three thirteen yards in that two went
over Jacksonville. As we mentioned, Okay, the return of Michael Thomas.
This guy like riding a bicycle, didn't miss a beat,
didn't skip a beat. Michael Thomas, the receiver on the

(06:23):
New Orleans Saints, his first action since the year. What
did he do? I'll tell you all. He did two
touchdowns from Jamis Winston. All right, five receptions for fifty
seven yards in a twenty seven six win over Atlanta
and Tyreek Hill. Are you listening? Are you listening? Tyreek

(06:45):
Thursday night? Kansas City four over the charges? All right? Uh?
Mahomes he only threw for two five. He only had
two touchdowns the chiefs of perfect two and oh they
just keep unrolling? Is that Patrick Mahomes? Isn't Andy Reid?
I don't know, but I'm looking at the so called
NFL power ratings. I know it's early, we're going in

(07:09):
two weeks to today, but I tell you right now,
I gotta say that, although the Chiefs look really good,
really good, in my mind, I'm still taking the Buffalo
Bills the number one team in power rank because they
whacked up on the defending champions on the road, the Rams.
And I tell you what that Bill's mafia did begin
it to travel like the Pittsburgh Steelers. I like that
Bills mafia, but the Buffalo looked even he looked even

(07:32):
better than its advanced building. I think that Buffalo right now.
I know the preseason hype that could kill you. Everybody
says they're Super Bowl winners, but I think Buffalo right now,
and Buckey will agree with me. I think he will
that Buffalo right now, as far as the power ratings
are concerned, are the number one team in the NFL
going into a week to follow, But the Chiefs. I
don't know how they put the Buccaneers number three, but

(07:53):
I think it's Bills. Chiefs, Chiefs, Bills, take your pick. Yeah,
I think both of those teams look like the class
of the league. I'll see this about the Buffalo Bills. Uh.
The beat down they put on the L A. Rams
was impressive. It was impressive because I don't even think
they brought their a game. They turned the ball over,
They weren't clicking on all cylinders, but you saw their dominance.

(08:14):
I think with the Kanda City the Chiefs, the most
impressive part of what Kansas City has been able to
do is how they've shifted gears without Tareek Kill. We
were at all off season about what are they gonna
do without number ten? And it apears that they're going
to have a bio committee approach. Juju Smith, Schuster, m vs.
Miko Hardman, whoever they throw in a white receiver are

(08:34):
making contributions. But really the hidden sauce or the secret
sauce behind the successes maybe the running game and what
they're going to do with all these different running backs.
And so both teams were very impressive in the Chiefs
played both both of them played great defense. But yeah,
one or two right now has to be Bills Chiefs
in some kind of order. All right, let me run

(08:56):
this by it because you have the mindset of an athlete,
because you were an athlete once an athlete, always an athlete.
Just like I hate to make the comparison, what's an
alcoholics an alcoholic? There's just a comparison. Don't take a personally.
But let me just say this, the Tyree Kill thing.
Let's go into his mind, both between his ears for
a second. Why on earth would he want to leave
a situation like Kansas City? Why would he want to
leave Patrick Mahomes. I get it, the money situation, but

(09:18):
there's only so much you that buy. With so much
money going to Miami, he's gonna be looking over his
shoulder every single freaking week to see what Kansas City does,
and hopefully you'll say to himself, he made a good decision.
I don't think that's gonna be so the end of
the year, it's gonna say, why did I do this? Now?
I don't know, Like some guys want to go on
their own. And you have to remember, uh, he's a

(09:39):
fifth round pick. He was drafted by Kansas City. But
Kansas City might have they've always kind of viewed him
as a guy who was a great individual athlete, a
great player, but they kind of risk everything by making
him the number one receiver before he was even established
as a wide receiver. You remember he came in he
was a returner, gadgets, bachelist, maybe kind of pseudo running back.

(10:03):
They made him a number one receiver his second or
third year when no one really envisioned him being that
kind of player. So for him, he wanted to go
on his own and say that he wasn't created by
this system. He wanted to show the football world that
he is great at what he does. And so he
just willn't leave Patrick Mahomes and a good situation in
Kansas City to go to Miami and kind of risk

(10:24):
it off and maybe telling the world that I I
don't need Patrick will Homes. He didn't make me. Maybe
it's an eagle because I know in preseason all he
was doing was praising to U and I don't know
how he could praise that guy when you're just turning
around on a T shirt and shorts. You gotta wait
for the season to start. Really well, he's trying to
build this guy. If he's trying to build, to make
sure that to A understood that he had his unconditional

(10:46):
support when it came to being his quarterback and he's
gonna ride with him. I would say this to play
solid in Week one. This office is one that is
very quarterback friendly. It is one that can turn average players,
and the Pro Bowl is a turn pro Bowlers into
m v P s, and so T just stays within
the system and doesn't try to do too much. He's

(11:07):
going to be or he's going to look like a
high end quarterback as long as everything is scripted according
to plan. Alright, Last, but not least, I I before
I forget, I'm watching that Denver game last night last week.
I know, all of a sudden, they're coming down to
the situation where did you give the ball to Russell
Wilson or did you go for sixty four yard field goal?

(11:27):
I think what he did with that coach, Nathaniel Hacker
did was a slap in the face to Russell Wilson
on that fourth down situation. First or sixty four yard
field goal not that easy to pull off. But more
than that, Russell Wilson's your guy, he's your bread. But
a guy showing like a lack of confidence in Russell Wilson.
That was a bad move. I believe it was a

(11:47):
bad move, not necessarily short a lack of confidence in
Russell Obviously, it was a lack of trust. Uh. This
is a players league. It's a league where the best
coaches know that the players ultimately determined the outcomes. Of games,
and what you're trying to do is form a partnership
with your best players to be on the same page
and everyone shares the same vision for how the team

(12:07):
is going to run. So all the stuff that was
done in the off season with Russell Wilson, me and
the franchise quarterback getting the team together, being the ultimate leader, YadA, YadA, YadA.
In that moment, Nathaniel Hackett would have probably in ingratiating
himself to the team if he's like Russ, what you
want to do on fourth and fourth and five, And
then if Russ makes the play, or even if he

(12:29):
doesn't make the play, the team will know, hey, this
is our best player. We put the ball in the
hands of our best player and it didn't work out.
That's what you want to see because it's more, I guess,
to the team, it's more important to see the ball
in the hands of Russ then on the foot of
Brandon mcmahdus because if Russ feels you can live with
that because that's like your best player. That's Kobe Bryant

(12:50):
taking the last shot at the end of the game.
Brandon mcmadus is not. So now you're looking like well, coach,
why didn't we just let Russ do it? If it's
gonna be a six or four r a few ago,
which has a low probability of being made, you might
as well let rust cook and see if you can
figure out a way to get a first step. Okay,
let me run this play as a player. Do you
go back in the locker room and you just kind

(13:11):
of grouped together, say, what in the hell did the
coach do? Is there a divide now when they say
a coach loses his team potentially, Yeah, so if he doesn't,
if he doesn't make that up, how Nathaniel Hackett handles
this in the aftermath is important? Is everything? And so
what he has to do is rebuild and repair the

(13:32):
trust between him and the team, just to make sure
that everyone is on the same page. There you go.
The one person I trust his Bucky Brooks. You could
trust them to get him on Twitter at Bucky Brooks
And if you're a moron, I'll tell you how to
spell his name b U c K Y b R oh. Okay, yes,
at Bucky Brooks will read the tweets. Yes, Mike, Mike
Carmon will be here our number three. But you get
him on Twitter at Swollen Dome Swollen Dome or at

We've got a tremendous lineup today, Bucky remembers in this
out Boy, We're gonna get into his head. Pretty good
bat and Barrel betting an hour number two, Bucky's best
in our final hour and by the way, you gotta
run the ball today. That's next. Fox Sports Radio has

it up. Earth Wind and Fire. This is my group.
I love them. This is September. Bucky like the Earth
Wind and Fire. I mean, how can you not like

(14:38):
Earth Wind and Fire? Tell me about all right? I love?
Go ahead, Chris, tell me, tell me Chris. I just
I just gotta say this, since it's coming up with
the twenty one night of September that's also my birthday.
So what do they like? You're begging for a gift
on No, I'm just saying it, says in the song
do you remember the twenty one night of September. Right, well, now,
I gotta remember it to your birthday, all right. That's

(15:00):
why I like playing the song right now. Oh and
there's some time all right, Earth winning fight. It's Bucky Brooks.
I'm Ady Furman. This is Fox Football Sunday on Fox
Sports Radio. Let's get into it right now, Buck. The
Jets are playing at the Browns today. And you know,
if if I'm a player on the Cleveland bro if
I'm playing any team playing the Jets, you know, honestly, mentally,
you know you're gonna probably win. It isn't that true.

(15:23):
You put the uniform on, you put the pads on,
you look at the opponent, you say, the Jets, Jacksonville,
We're gonna win today. Does that go on? I mean,
the coach's job obvious to say, you know, bust your butt.
You're gonna go out there. It's gonna be a tough fight.
But you know, when your heart of hearts, there's a
real good chance you're gonna win today. Uh. You know,
I don't think you approach it like that. I think

(15:43):
in the National Football League, every game is typically decided
by eight points and fewer. And if you don't have
your eight game. You're you're vulnerable. These are the best
of the best in terms of players, and even the
sorriest teams, the teams that don't have wins, the domes,
the teams have severe losing records. They can get you.
And so you need your teams to stay focused and

(16:05):
locked in because if you sleep just a little bit,
somebody snatch you down. And so, no, I don't think
you kind of chalk it up and right their pencil. Ay,
this should be a win. You may think there's a
high probability of your team winning, but you got to
convince them that every week you gotta show up. Okay,
they are getting six and a half today. If you're
a player, obviously you're gonna look at the line. You
have to. You've gotta be an idiot not to. You's

(16:26):
gotta be blind not to. Does that affect your approach
to this game, saying you know they're getting six and
a half the favorite. No, I mean, it isn't approach.
It doesn't force your approach like that. I think the
bigger thing that affects your approach is what they look
like when you're watch them on tape, when you get
the information in terms of who's playing, and you combine
that information with what you've watched on tape, it does

(16:50):
impact your confidence level for their game. So that matters
more than what all the noise on the outside is saying,
all right, let's look at the brown situation. Uh, I'm
the coach of the Browns, and I know I'm gonna
run the football. I'm gonna use Nick Chubb and use
Kareem Hunt. Chump had a hundred forty one yards lest
week against Carolina the Jets. Obviously, I don't know what

(17:11):
Joe Flacco is gonna do in the center, but obviously
they gotta open it up. They gotta run the ball.
Last week they lost nine to the Ravens, and the
running backs Michael Carter and Bruce Hall had a total
of sixteen carries. When a quarterbacks flows for more than
forty yards and times a game, I could tell you
if by looking at the box got a team probably lost.
It's not good. Flacco was thirty seven for fifty nine.

(17:32):
You gotta balance that offense. You have to combine running
and passing. You gotta hand the ball off the Hall
and Carter a little bit more. Yeah, absolutely, you can't
throw it that much, and with an older quarterback like
Joe Flacco, who's already limited in terms of his ability
to put the entire weight of the office on his back.
You want to run the ball to create play extra

(17:54):
bass opportunities for him to take shots down the field.
What you also want to do is you want to
shorten the game games so you don't expose him to
too many offensive snaps. I am very surprised that the
Jets put it up that much with Joe Flacco. Joe
Flacco is better days up behind him. You have to
treat them like a backup quarterback, protect him limited exposure,

(18:15):
don't put a lot on him. And if you do
that and give him a chance, right, but they don't
have a chance, You're gonna win today. Now, I said,
go into the seventh today, gonna get there first. I'm
talking about the Lions break their virginity today. The Detroit Lions,
when they're hosting the Commanders of Washington. Washington is getting one.
The Lions run the game. DeAndre Swift. I saw him
on Hard Knocks. I love this guy. He ran for

(18:36):
a last week on fifteen carries. Now, Jared Goff, he
missed some opportunities against the Eagles, and I lost last week,
but I just think that Detroit is gonna win this
ball game. Tell me why they're not. No, I mean,
I think the Detroit is close. I think they're very competitive.
I like what Dame Campbell is trying to do. I
think ultimately all these games, particularly when he relates to Detroit.

(18:58):
When you're Dan Campbell, you try to teach your team
how to avoid beating themselves. So when you when you
do that, you always are focusing on a no turnovers,
no big plays allowed, keep the ball in front of
the defense, make sure that we don't have any pre
snap or foolish penalties where we're giving away yards. And
then finally, you can't have errors in the kicking game.

(19:22):
If you mess up in the kicking game, block prints,
big return anything where you have significant flipping of the field,
you donna lose games. So those four things when you Detroit,
that's what you're always happened on. Turnovers, big plays allowed,
pre snap penalties, and kicking game errors. If you eliminate those,
they're gonna have a chance to win. I'll tell you why.

(19:43):
I know the hard knocks situation. I love that kid
and moan Rod st Brown. I mean, he kind of
knew every receiver that was drafted previous to him in
the draft, and that gave him a kind of that
they called the chip on the shoulder deal. I never
really believed in it that much. When I saw him
in Hard knocks, he rattled off every receiver that was
drafted before him, and I love that. I mean, this

(20:05):
kid is really good, and you gotta get that tight
end t J. Hockinson involved in the offense for Detroit.
If they do, and then no turnovers with Jared Goff,
I think this team's got a shot. Absolutely, they have
a shot. They're tough. Once again, is the maturation process.
How do you learn how to win games? Ken Dyan
Camp will teach his team how to win games. They've

(20:26):
shown promise, but now what you have to do is
turn that promise into production. So if they do that,
they start winning games and doing those things, and then
this guy's delivered for the Sea I hope. So I
hope your the fans deserve it. You know, I don't
know much about Detroit. I never lived there, visit there
a couple of times, but you know, to have a
losing season year in and year out. It's time, you know.

(20:48):
And the NFL really is built on parody. You would think,
you know, the way they draft to set up and whatever,
but you would like to see Detroit at least. And
they have it so rough anyway that the division that
they're in, they're so called Black and Blue Division. It's tough.
But I think that the tide is gonna turn. I
think Green Bay is gonna be hit hard. They're not
gonna be that good in years to come. Aaron Rodgers

(21:09):
in the twilight of his career. So I think the
troits an up and comer. Yeah, they are up and comer,
and I think they have to continue to just kind
of do it for for the pieces in place and
let it happen. But there's a lot of promise, a
lot of I guess the reason for optimism in Detroit.
But now he has to win some games just to
make sure that you don't kind of lose the momentum

(21:30):
that's been built right right, And as far as the
Washington commander is a concerned Carson Wentz last week against Jacksonville,
you gotta spread that football. You're running back Antonio Gibson
had only fourteen carries. I if you're a running back,
and you're a premier running back I was starting, you
gotta get twenty plus carries. You gotta carry the football,
you know, and you gotta spread. You gotta set up

(21:51):
the pass the run for the past. That's basically what
it is. And I never coached. The next game I
coach would be my first. I never played. I don't
even know how to put on shoulder pads, but watched
the football game. I studied this. It's not that difficult, Bucky.
These coaches stata to one am, two am. They sleep
on the couch. I don't know what they do. I
don't know the moves they make. You don't have to
put in that much time, tell me right, I mean

(22:13):
you may not have to put that much time. There
is a thing where you talk about work smarter, not harder,
to be very doubt into what you're doing. You know
exactly how you want to get it done and be
in and out. Don't waste a lot of extra time.
But you gotta prepare because these other coaches are brilliant.
They bring things to the table that are challenging, so
you gotta prepared it all. We prepare for this show.

(22:35):
I know that we certainly do. He's Bucky Brooks. I'm
Andy Ferman. He Now, when the day is done, they'll
still be looking for a win. That's next. But for
all the latest news, here's the main man himself, Miss
nickkop Good morning, Ay, good money morning, Bucky. How you
guys doing good, good, good awesome. Well, let's get you
some injury updates as it relates here to Week two,
reports have the following players expected to play. The Saints

(22:59):
running back mark Ingram, Saints quarterback Jamis Winston, Packers receiver
Alan Lazard, Giants receiver Kid aias, Tony Bengals receiver t Higgins,
Lions running back DeAndre Swift, Bucks receiver Mike Evans, and
Bucks running back Leonard four Nett. All those players expected
to play. Some names still up in the air, though

(23:20):
might be game time decisions forty Niners tight end George Kittle,
Bucks receiver Julio Jones, Ravens running back j K. Dobbins,
and Saints running back Alvin Camaro. We should have a
better idea on those players later in the morning. In
terms of college football on Saturday, Top ten teams all
one one through nine was comfortable, but number ten had

(23:43):
a struggle. Arkansas trailed by ten points in the fourth
quarter to Missouri State, but the Hogs were able to
complete the comeback to seven the final score. Other notable
games in the top twenty five, Washington looks great against
number eleven Michigan State. Final score looks closer than the
game actually was thirty nine to twenty eight Huskies over

(24:05):
the Spartans. Number twenty five Oregon dominated Number twelve b
y U forty one to twenty and number twenty four
Texas A and M able to bounce back. They knockoff
number thirteen Miami seventeen to nine. You also had number
eighteen Florida in a tight one with South Florida, and
the Gators beat the Bulls in the end thirty one
to eight. Number nineteen wake Forest nearly got upset by

(24:29):
Liberty at home, the Flames going for two at the
end of the game, but they failed. Wake Forest hangs
on for a thirty seven thirty six victory. In baseball,
the Dodgers won their one game when A with a
seven to two win over the Giants. Mariners lost to
the Angels, and that dropped them down to the third
wild card spot in the American League Braves beat the

(24:49):
Phillies four to three. Ronald Acuna Jr. Drove in all
four runs for Atlanta. Mets also one beating the Pirates,
so it's still a one game lead in the NL
East for New York and a. Alreadians swept a double
header with the Twins White Sox one as well, edging
the Tigers. Guardians currently have a four and a half
game lead on the White Sox in the AL Central. Finally,

(25:11):
in boxing, Canelo Alvarez defeated get Audi go of Ken
by unanimous decision in their third fight. Now let's go
back to Andy Furman and Bucky Brooks. Thank you Nixtie
in an hour. By the way, Bucky, I listened to
these scores and it kind of rang a bell. I
want to preface this by saying, I'm a big Jim
Harbaugh fan. I love Jim Harbaugh. But yesterday they're playing

(25:31):
Yukon fifty nine to nothing. Are you kidding? I mean,
can isn't there like a rule he could just stop
the game in the third quarter? I mean, why do
they do this? I mean, I get it. You can
probably gets a big check to come out there and
play the game. Is its spring training is a tuning
up what has proven by winning fifty nine nothing. I
don't get it. I mean, he can't coach the other team.

(25:53):
So what youre doing if you're trying to get your
guys ready to go, and so they were. They were
heavy face be coming into the game. He's playing young quarterbacks.
He was trying to decide which one to be. So
he decided at J. J. McCarthy was this guy. And
so now you just let them roll. You're prepared for
their big game that's on the horizon. But if you
want your team to operate at a high level, and

(26:16):
that's what they were able to do it. So he
can't worry about Jim Moore Junior and whether they got
this squad together. If you've got an issue to beat down,
then you just beat him down. And they beat him down.
They should have did boy remembers about five six minutes
from now. But Tampa Bay Bucks. Speaking of Bucks, Tampa
Bay Bucks or at the New Orleans Saints, Saints are
getting two and a half. And that's interesting because the

(26:36):
Saints over the last several years have had the Bucks numbers,
especially in New Orleans. So we'll see what happens and
Leonard four Nette week one one or twenty seven yards,
He's gonna carry the load for Tampa Bay. You know,
I would stay away from this game if I'm a gambler.
I'm not a big time gambler, but this is one
of those games that you look at the past and
his Saints have their number. But Tampa Bay, I mean, uh,

(26:58):
I don't know, but they do have that pretty good
pass rush we'll see and they have that banged up
offensive line on Tampa based, so it could come to
pass that New Orleans could roll on this one. Well, yeah,
I think the Saints are legit, and I think they're
going to be the team that gets hot down the
stretch when I look at provided to stay healthy. When
I look at this team's roster, defensively, their rock solid.
They have the ability to control the game with their defense. Offensively,

(27:21):
they're far more explosive than they've been. Michael Thomas for
Johns the team, Jarvis Landry comes over. They added Crystal
Lovey in the draft, so then they have a big
play threat on the other side, and then whenever they
have Number forty one Ablamar in the backfield, it forced
the defensive coordinators to make tough decisions. I think he is.

(27:43):
I think he is out, and so that changes the
math a little bit. But if he's up and available,
it changes how you go after and because you have
to double forty one or he will absolutely wear at
your linebackers on option routes and swings and screens and
those things. But I think jameis Winston as long as
he takes care of the ball like he's been doing
since he's been a Saint, Yeah, it gives him a

(28:03):
chance to win every game. I agree. So you like
the Saints today, I do too. I think the Saints
win this one. But again, if I'm a camp like
stay away, Saints are getting two and a half, so
I think the Saints will take them. There so many
psychologic I guess you know when you played the game,
it's psychologically. Do you go into a game saying, man,
we just we just can't beat this team. I mean,
it happens, right, Oh, there's some things that happened like

(28:24):
that where you just know we match up well against
this team. It doesn't matter what our record is, doesn't
matter who's playing who's not. When we see this team
come out of the tunnel. We know that we can
get with them. It's very similar to the Indianapolis Coasts
taken on the Jacksonville Jaguars, particularly down at the Bank.

(28:45):
The Coats have not won a game down in Jacksonville
since and if you think about how bad the Jacksonville
Jaguars has been, it's one of those things. So yeah,
it's one of those things. But when you match up sometimes,
you know. And for the Saints, they know when they
play Tampa Bay they somehow can you figure out a
way to win amazing. Now the Panthers are the Giants.
The Giants usually have the Panthers number that Panthers are

(29:07):
getting one and a half today. Giants won big a
year ago, twenty five to three. The Panthers, you know
they've improved. They got Baker Mayfield, they got a healthy
Christian McCaffrey. The Panthers they need to establish that ground game.
They got to control the got the clock, keep the
Giants offense off the field. I know it sounds easy,
you could say that with any game, but that's what
they gotta do. And Baker Mayfields needs to connect. He
got to connect with d J. Moore and Terence Marshall. Jr.

(29:30):
If he does that doesn't turn the ball over, they
got a shot. But I think the Giants right now,
with that that went against Tennessee, the way they won,
going for two, I love that. That's got to be
a confidence builder. It has to be a confidence building
the way they won, and not even really the way
they won, the way they say Korn Barkley controlled the game.
That's the confidence building because now everyone is like, oh,

(29:52):
that has to say Krn Barkley. That was the officer
made Dave get him and take him with the second
overall pick. When people say you don't take running backs
that high. If that's Sae Kwan Barkley shows up all
the time, they ask can be a problem because Bryan
day Ball is very creative. He'll figure out ways to
get him the rock. But if he plays and performs
like that, yeah, it's gonna Aheadache right, you like the Giants.

(30:15):
I think the Giants have a shot. I really do.
I think sometimes the coach does make a difference. I
think right now the Giants right could could be coming
out of the hole that they've been. But again, not
the coach as much as Sae Kwon Barkley coming back
being healthy and being the old sake Kwan Barkley. You know,
I think I think Sae Kwon Barkley come back being
able to run the football. If they can figure out

(30:36):
what to do with Kid Darius Tony and Kennan Galan like,
those are guys that they've been counting on. Kadarius Tony
in particularly limited snaps limited production hasn't really given them
what they thought he would give him when they made him,
uh a prime player in the draft, So I know
that's that's one of the things they have to get

(30:56):
them going. And the Daniel Jones talk has kind of
subsided a little bit because there's a lot of heat
on him. Last week he was decent. I mean, he
did have an interception, but he threw two touchdowns. Again,
if he doesn't turn the ball over, if he doesn't
do any silly silly things on the field, but also

(31:17):
distributing the football and again shoving the ball and Sta
Kwon Barkley's belly, that'll get him to win. Then absolutely
get him to win. They just have to make sure
they get on the same page when it comes to
all of that stuff. Just how do we want to
prioritize the top the tip sheet or whatever we call it.
We just call it the target sheet. Who's my number

(31:38):
one player, who's my second player, who's the third player?
Who are the guys that need the ball? I got
to make sure that the guys that need the ball,
that can make the greatest impact get the ball enough
to make that impact interesting. Okay, So we like the
Giants today. We both like the Giants. And this one
Panthers getting one and a half. He's Bucket Brooks on
Andy Furman. This is Fox Football Sunday on Fox. Buts

(31:58):
right now, this is gonna be great. I tell you
right now, if you've got to go to the toilet,
do it now. Because if you've got to do anything
at all, walk the dog, do it now. Because to
sit back and relax and Bucky Brooks take you back
in time. Why was Bucky Remembers is next? Fox Sports

This is Fox Football Sunday. Hey is Bucky Brooks. I'm
and deferminative. By the way, we're broadcasting live on the
tirect dot com studios. Ti iraq dot com will help

(32:39):
you get there and I'll match selection fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers.
Ti iraq dot com the way tire buying should be.
Now it's that time. It's time for Bucky Remembers. It's
time for one of our own to remember a good

(33:00):
old days. This is why we're doing the drill from
the locker room to the gridiron. This man has seen
at all. Your favorite NFL veteran, Bucky Brooks, gives us
the good, the bad, and the ugly from his playing
days in the NFL. And now Bucky remembers. Yes he's

(33:22):
our favorite NFL guy. Yes he is, Bucky Brooks. Buck.
Are you remember Buck? Are you remembering? Are you ready?
Here we go? I'm always ready. I know you are
all right now. The Texas Longhorns, they scored a big
cool less this week. They were recruiting and landing arch Manning.
Manning took his official visit to Texas back in June,
and according to the records in the Atlantic, the University

(33:43):
spent two hundred eighty grand for food, accommodations, and other
luxuries for Manning and eight other recruits. So, Bucky, how
much money was spent on your recruiting trip and what
was it like? My recruiter was a lot of fun.
When the North Carolina it was down the road. It
was only thirty minutes down the road from my hometown.

(34:04):
So I got a chance to uh go up to
my dream school. Um, I think the first night, what
do we do? We had dinner. We always had dinner.
I think back then there was a restaurant in shall
Will called Spanky's, So they always treat you for dinner.
And then you go out with the fellas. So everyone
has a host that is responsible for taking them and

(34:25):
I think my host was Torn Doran and Dwight Hallie.
They took me out. We went uptown. We had a
good time uptown, which is a downtown area in Chapel Hill.
Uh stayed out late, went to the club, did all
the stuff that all the recruits do. Uh. Next day
you go to a game. I can't remember who we
saw it. Maybe it was basketball game. I think it
was Iowa. Bj Armstrong and those guys play against the

(34:47):
tar Heels. Uh. I remember that game because Iowa wins
because they swapped out who should have been the free
throw shooter at the end of the game. It was
either Ed Horton a roar marble. Uh. Somebody gets filed.
The person who gets filed is like a fifty fifty shooter.
They swapped him out. Somebody else goes on and the

(35:08):
referees didn't catch. So my recruiting trip was ruined because
North Carolina loses a game that was very controversial. But
the party stuff was fun and I was very committed
after having But they didn't spend two No, no, they
didn't spend that much money on you. There's no way. No.
I don't recall that being the amount of food that

(35:31):
we ate at yap Yo. But if they wanted to
retro treat me for two hundred and eighty thousand all
the weekend, I certainly would take it right now. All right, Okay,
Bucky Brooks, speaking of Tobacco Road, can you remember a
Duke football team that's been this good? Yeah? I actually can't.
My freshman year, Steve spurry Year was the head coach

(35:54):
of Duke at the time, and they wanted a sec title.
It was his last year and Duke before we went
to Florida. M hm, your memory is helping me. I
don't remember that. That's great, Okay, okay, Uh, where were
you when you got the call from the NFL? Where
were you? I was at the house. Uh, the draft night.

(36:17):
Back then, the draft was only two days, So gosh,
did you do the first three rounds? It might be
the first three rounds the first night and everything else
after that, and so it was overall pick. So I
think I didn't get the phone calling too maybe ten

(36:38):
ten at night, and I was the eleventh receiver taken,
and so I just remember sitting by the phone and
seeing the names kind of go off. Charles Johnson, Johnny Morton, uh,
Thomas Lewis, Kevin Lee, Isaac Bruce Um, David Palmer went

(37:02):
Um better than these guys, right, Well, yeah, you naturally
say that, right, you naturally say I should be going
before these guys. But I'm talking about Isaac bru was
a Hall of Fame player. Some of these other guys
had very decorated careers. But at the moment, you're trying
to figure out, well, why am I sliding much? Liking
hard knocks, when a Moan Rocks st Brown could rattle

(37:25):
off the names of everybody that was drafted in front
of him. It's the same thing because pridefully, you always
want to be the one that's recognized as the best
in the class. You always want to be the one
that goes with the top pick. Like the dream is
never when you're a kid like hey, out of North
Carolina's seventh round pick, Bucky Brooks, Like everyone always talks
about first round pick. So it's one of those things. Um,

(37:49):
but yeah it was. It was a great night, but
it was kind of bitter sweet because you always want
to go before you Actually it's like a college we
were a college basketball player. When the season starts in October,
you don't want to say, hey, I can't wait, we
want to go to the n I t No, you
want to go to the Anti Double A Tournament. That's
what you want to do. Absolutely, that's the whole point.
That's why you want to do it all right Now,
when did you realize you might be a professional football player?

(38:13):
When did it dawn on you? Uh, it didn't dae
to me until Layton College, maybe my junior year. You know,
you have to remember back then We didn't have the Internet.
You didn't have the machine that the draft has become, right,
mel Kiper was the only guy pronuncigating, saying who was
going to go where? And that stuff, And so the

(38:35):
dream for me was always just to be able to
play in college. Anything beyond that was gravy. But it
wasn't until the end of my junior year. I had
a little success. At the end of the year, agent
started calling and recruiting, and that changed, like, oh, well,
maybe this will be a reality. But yeah, prior to that,
I never I never seriously entertained that I would have
an opportunity to play. And what kind of student were

(38:58):
you in both high school and college? You mean kind
of student like academically, Yeah, I would say that I
left a lot of meat on the bone when it
came to my studies. But I would say that I
learned a lot and if I could go back, I
would put more time in in the classroom. I love school.

(39:18):
It wasn't hard, but I wasn't always on top of
the details. Did they give you a little bit of
a break because you were a football player? No, absolutely not.
Come on, many hard stories about North Carolina guys getting
a's and there no such courses. I know that that
that must be another North Carolina school. Okay, I get

(39:38):
you all right, another edition, but some quick rebounds I
needed today. We'll tell you all about it how Fox
Football Sunday next. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports
talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows
at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the I
Heart Radio app search f s R to listen live.
Too much talk, Well, we'll get to that in just
about a minute. Good morning in America. Yes, it's that time.

(40:01):
It's Fox Football Sunday. I'm Andy Ferman, and now my
pleasure to introduced former NFL star, current star stage and screen,
the man who knows so much football it's it's ridiculous,
it really is. And I love having them here, The
one and only Bucky Brooks. Yes, Buck, Our number two
are Rocket and Rolling, Rocket and Rolling Man. I'm really
excited big slate of games today, really excited to talk

(40:22):
about it. We'll get to those in just about a minute.
Just to let you know, we're broadcasting live from the
tire Rap dot Com Snoodios tire rap dot com. We'll
help you get there and unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road hazard protection and over ten thousand recommended installers
tire rac dot com. The white tire boxing should be
now quickly, if I may, before we get into the games.

(40:44):
The other day, I pick out the USA Today newspaper,
and what do I see on the front page of
sports Joe Burrow and commenting on various and sundry topics.
And I gotta ask you that some of the topics
he was outspoken on, and I don't really care. It's,
you know, good for him, you know, if he feels
that way, that's great. Outspoken on abortion, on the abortion issue,

(41:04):
and of course on gun violence. You know, and certainly
when you draw a line in the sand like that,
you're gonna have some naysayers, and he did in that
auticle and even in his hometown and the Plains, Ohio.
So they ask you, is it a good thing for
an athlete to stand on the platform that he has,
especially a quarterback, because that's a big position. Is it healthy?

(41:25):
Is it good for him to do that? Or better
if just stay in your lane, play the game, And
that's basically it. No. I think athletes should voice their opinion. Um,
I think if you are informed, that's the main thing.
I think you need to make sure that you're informed
about what you're speaking on. But you do have a
big platform and you have an opportunity to shed light
on a lot of issues that are going on around

(41:45):
the world, and so if your opinion is one that's
been researched and thoroughly vetted, then yeah, speak out. I
think the issue that you have is when people aren't informed.
But you gotta remember, man, athletes are people too, and
just like uh, they're politicians who have opinions in those things.
All of it weighs equally. So if you're affected by

(42:06):
certain things in this country, then yeah, you should be
able to speak on it. God bless you. I'm with
you a thousand percent. I'll tell you what I think.
It takes a lot of guts to do that, to
stick ahead above water and do something. Because at a
news conference several weeks ago, some reporter is Joe Burrow,
what you've let about gun violence? You after what's happening
across the country and especially what happened in Texas at
that elementary school, and he says, I think some of
these crazy should not be getting guns, And boy, oh boy,

(42:29):
it was like an explosion. You know really, I mean
I think most Americans feel the same way. Joe Burrow
did accept that he's got a bigger platform than most,
and I think it's great that he could say that,
and maybe maybe with his words things could change. Who knows.
You know, there's something to that. There's definitely something to
being able to be the voice of reason or being

(42:51):
able to uh with the assistance of like the right
organizations behind you. Yeah, put spotlight on an issue, but
then all so for some resources to the issue, and
there's nothing new. I mean, you know, years ago, I
remember Olympians were speaking out and other athletes, Bill Russell,
for years I've spoken out. The only difference being the

(43:12):
fact that there's so many other avenues to speak out
to today, podcasting, social media which was not available back
in the day. But athletes back then they speak out.
There's no doubt about that. Bill Russell was very vocal.
May he rest in peace? Yeah, absolutely, And that was
part of the social movement because you had a memory.
It was very too much of his time during that time,

(43:33):
the sixties, you're talking about civil rights protests, Um, you
had different war issues, people talking about those things, and
you had Bill Russell and Jim Brown and countless others
were the forefront of those movements, being athletes that spoke out.
You're exactly right now, we're gonna speak out about the
Jaguars playing today against Indianapolis Coast and you mentioned the

(43:53):
game's in Jacksonville, So the Colts ought to be shivering
a little bit. Jacks are getting three in this one,
and the quarterback Trevor Lawrence today against the Colts a
divisional arrival. Last week, the Colts tied to Texas. That
was a shame. They had more than five yards of
total offense. They couldn't win the game. That should result
to me and more than twenty points. So we'll see

(44:14):
what happens in that game. Yeah, it's it's a different game.
Michael Pittman isn't slated to play. I don't think Shaquille
Leonard will play. UM, So you have a shorthanded Internapolis
Colts team dealing with the Jaguars. The one thing is
this team is motivated Indianapolis is by the fact that
they lost last year and the lost cost them a

(44:34):
playoff berth and so they've talked about it. Uh diff
it signs up internally about it, and so They're gonna
be fired up and ready to go. And so despite
the length of the streak where they haven't been able
to win in Jacksonville, I think this would be a
tough game for the Jaguars. Yeah, it's amazing. It really
is a close at quarterback Matt Ryan and I had

(44:55):
an argument with somebody just recently. Ryan had an interception
of two turnovers last week, and you know they feel
gold miss at the Rodrigo Blanket Ship. You know, that
basically was the game. But I said to someone that
I think Matt Ryan will be a Hall of Fame
and what's your take on that. I think he has
a chance. I think he has to put some more
hardware under metal. So whether Super Bowl ring or m

(45:17):
VP Award, he has to have something else on the resume.
He's there and if he got in, he would get
in because of longevity and the consistency of his performance.
But I think he needs to have some other accolades
to kind of be recognized as the best, as one
of the best of the best. Right with that tie
last week, which to me at tie is ridiculous, But

(45:38):
I wonder what they were on a jam Mercy was
like after the ballgame was when they lost to Jacksonville
last year, which bounced him out of the playoffs. That
basically course the quarterback of job, and they got Matt
Ryan coming in. So you know, the guy is very
aggressive as an owner for sure, but more than that,
he's he acts more as a as a fan than
as an owner. So I'm sure he's fit to be
tied right now. And if they dropped one today to

(46:00):
Jacksonville down there, oh my goodness, I wouldn't want to
be on that plane. No, it'd be a tough it'd
be a tough one. Um. They have to find a
way to win. If you didn't have his ghost like,
there's a ton of pressure and you just find a
way to get this done. Uh can they do it?
I don't know. I think Jacksonville is much better than
people are anticipated. It's still a young team that is
still trying to figure out how to win. Well, I'll

(46:23):
tell him how to win, Bucket, you agree with me
on this one. You gotta take the pressure of Trevor Lawrence.
He's still a young quarterback. I think he's gonna have
a good career, but he's still young. Okay, how do
you take the pressure of a quarterback the running game.
They got James Robinson back there and Travis e t N.
Those two guys only combined for fifteen carries last week.
That's ridiculous. I mean, really, you gotta get at least

(46:47):
at least combined forty carries. That takes a lot of
pressure of a quarterback and they didn't do it. If
they do that today, I think they got a shot.
I think Jacksonville has more offensive weapons than Indianapolis. The
game is at home. I think that Jacks win and
they're getting three man. That's very optimistic. It's very optimistic.

(47:08):
Launch Street I like, I like, I like the jackson
I just worried man because it's been so long and
there's been so much made of the Street. At some point,
all strings have to come to the end. I would
take Jacksonville, but man, I don't feel great. I don't
feel great about I think it's the type it's gonna be.
This had in the last minute. Have you ever been
on a team and I should have checked this, I didn't.

(47:29):
But a team that just so downtry, that can't win,
because to me, it's almost embarrassing. I would say of
players have played in the NFL or either a high
school All Americans or collegiate stars obviously for their team,
and they played on winning situations. Although Patrick Mahomes playing
on a loser of Texas Tech has a senior but

(47:52):
they're not used to losing. And guys that play say
at Alabama, if you go to Jacksonville, you lose more
games than a Often do you lost in Alabama and
a Korea? How do you deal with that? Well, it's tough.
But one of the reasons why you bring those players
in from winning programs because you're trying to flip the culture.
So the way you flip the cultures, you bring in
a bunch of guys who are used to winning, who

(48:14):
used to bind into the things that the head coach
with stress are very very important because they've seen it work,
they've had success doing it in those ways. So yeah,
it can be frustrating when you take a lot of
losses and chalk up the ails each week. But the
hope is if you come from a winning program, you
and your teammates can figure it out win at high level. Interesting,

(48:38):
I mean, I wanted to find out how many losing
programs you came from or losing years and how do
you handle it? M Let's see Buffalo we were seven
and nine. There's later as my last year, we were
eight and eight. Kansas City, We Want a Lie Green
Baby went a lot. So those were the only situations

(49:00):
that I really experienced losing. But even then, it's kind
of hard. You don't like losing, like you don't like
putting it all the time, and the energy and effort
and not getting to w every week. Right. Yeah, I
could see tempers flaring internally, and I came to pass
yesterday kind of reminded me of that Houston Cougar college
football game. As they went two teammates went at each other.

(49:23):
I mean, I guess the frustration level goes crazy. And
I never understood why one football player would apparently punch
another player who's wearing a helmet. To me, that is
the stupidest thing in the world. You could break your
hand doing that. If you want to fight, take the
helmet off. But these guys punch one another and the
helmet is still on. Did you see that the replayers?

(49:45):
I saw, Yeah, I saw the video. I didn't get
the full context of the video because I was on
the plane. What exactly happened? Why why were they so
fired up? Have we getting the answers on that yet?
I know, and I read the game stories on it,
and uh Dana holk us In, the coach of the Cougars, said, well,
they're good, they're good friends. It was just a misunderstanding.
I mean, obviously he's gonna, you know, put a cold

(50:07):
water on it, the cool things off. But that shouldn't happen.
And I'm not saying it's the coach's responsibility, but that,
that to me was a shocker. I've never seen two
teammates go at it in a game, maybe privately, maybe
in a locker room, whatever it may be. And who
knows what it's from. Maybe it's a girlfriend situation. I
don't know. Maybe it wasn't a game situation. I don't know. Yeah,

(50:29):
it could be a mean things that play. You don't
want to see that. You'd like to tell the team
keep those matters internal. Let's hand about our business inside.
You don't want it for public display because now everybody
has to ask for it, and you don't want to
do that. It doesn't look good, not good, not good
at all. All Right, He's Bucket Brooks. You can get

(50:49):
him on Twitter at Bucky Brooks at Andy Firman FSR
or Mike Harmon. He'll join us an hour three at

The drought ends today. That's right around the corner, twenty
past the hour. This is Fox Football Sunday. He's Bucky Brooks,

(51:57):
I'm Andy Furman. Buck. Let's get right back to the games.
Are you read I can't wait. Sundays are great. I
mean Sundays in the fall. Rolling at the February. You
locked in. You know what you're gonna do? Where the
guys of the world and some women. I'm I'm not
bashing the women now, but you know it's a guy thing. Mostly.
I think beer and cigars and watch the game and

(52:17):
the women. You know, they're there as well with fantasy football.
But now till February, were locked in on Sundays. That's it.
Don't bother me, right, Yeah, everybody's locked in. That's the
beauty of the NFL season. Like football in general, this
time of the year is great. The college games that
we saw on Saturdays are always outstanding. It's a different
game than the NFL. But then nothing beats the NFL

(52:39):
Sunday Sunday Sunday as we call it. Yes, Dolphins at
the Ravens today, Dolphins getting three and a half. There's
no new deal yet for the Ravens. Quarterback Lamar Jackson,
no big you know, no problem. Last week he goes
seventeen for thirty two into thirteen yards, three touchdowns. They
beat the Jets, but that's no big Wolf. But they
beat him nine and this Dolph, this Ravens Tom. They

(53:00):
could beat it in the ground, they could beat it
in the air. They got double whammy here. So I
think the Dolphins in order to win this game, you
want to make the Ravens so much one dimensional. If
you can, I don't know if you can. We'll see
if they can. But I don't think that. I don't
think the Dolphins have a shot here. I think the
Ravens are just too good. Oh whoa did? Do you

(53:21):
never remember what the Dolphins did to the Ravens last
year on a Thursday night that that to cover that
cover zero scheme that had uh Lamar Jackson the Baltimore
Ravens dazed and confused. Yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't just
say this is a walkover for the Baltimore Ravens. If anything,
I'm leading more towards the Miami Dolphins because the defense

(53:42):
in the way that they were able to control it.
Do the Baltimore Ravens have an answer for those tatans
because remember jobs Board, the defensive coordinator is still there,
so he is some other tricks in the bag. I'm
sure that they will get him going. So uh yeah,
it's read lightly, tread lightly on that one. Well, the

(54:02):
gamble is kind of like the ram. I mean, the
Dolphins again three and a half. But it's a tough
game to bet on. But the game is in Baltimore.
I think that makes a difference. I think the home
field does make a difference. It really does. And I
think the advantage for Baltimore is they don't have to
playing that Florida heat. Yeah, I mean that's that's always
a consideration early in the year. Miami does have that
huge advantage with the heat, uh, the sun all that

(54:25):
they make you wear your dark uniforms when you play
down there, so you're just baking. But in Baltimore, you
don't have those conditions. In Baltimore, what you have, though,
is a crazy crowd. And would it be in the
Ravens home opener, Yeah, to be bananas, right. Ravens got
the wide receiver shot Bateman. Uh, he was two for
fifty nine yards last week. He had tight end Mark

(54:45):
Andrews one of the best five receptions fifty two yards.
So they got some weapons. But again that that Dolphins
defense is fairly tough. So we'll see what happens now.
I I said the drought ends today until about the Rams.
They get there first one today they host the Falcons.
Falcon is getting ten. That's a lot of points to
get in the National Football League and waydering, but ten points,

(55:05):
I don't I'd stay away, but ten points is not bad.
The Bills they shut down in the Rams last week,
and then the zone coverage they rushed for and they
pressured the quarterback Matthew Stafford. Can the Falcons pressure Matthew Stafford?
Because the Rams offensive line right now with somewhat of
a makeshift offensive line, Stafford through three interceptions last week.

(55:29):
I still think the Rams are better than the Falcons.
But Stafford right now, he's gotta gotta take care of
that football. Has seventeen picks last year. I mean, that's
always a big thing for the for the Rams. And
as long as you have Matthew Stafford, it's one of
the things that you have to talk about. Take care
of the ball, don't give it to the other team.

(55:49):
As great as he is, and you talked about a
guy who may be a fringe Hall of Fame player,
as great as he is, the one thing that you
point to is he can get loose with the all
because he's so talented. When you have the tools and
talents that he has as a gun sliker, sometimes you
try to fit the ball in the real tight windows
and it backfires. But if he takes care of the ball,

(56:12):
the rails or dominate team, it's just a matter him
getting on the right page. Yeah, And as bad as
they played in Week number one, I still think they
are a better team than the Falcons. And I think
the Falcons coach basically is on the hot seat as
we speak. Wow, you try to put Arthur Smith on
the hot seat. How can you be on the hot seat? Like?
What what does he had to work with? Well, I
mean that's the problem. I mean the second year coach.

(56:35):
His record is now seven and twelve as a head coach.
And I think that basically fans and management are very impatient.
I mean I I don't think they care about injuries
that players sustained. I don't think they care about anything
but wins and losses. And he hasn't produced. Yeah, but man,
what he's been able to mark that he has with

(56:55):
what he's worked with. He's an overachiever. The fact that
he's seven games with the roster that he's been tasked
with You gotta remember Calvin Ridley, the guy who expected
to be his number one receiver, hasn't really been available,
not only this year, but last year he went he
went on a personal leave. So he's had to do
it with cow Piss, who was a rookie. Lastie's a

(57:16):
young player. He transformed Cordarol Patterson from a wide receiver
to a running back and had success. Um they flirted
with Deshaun Watson, which led to there maybe the outside
of my the greatest quarterback that you've had a franchise
history leaving man Arthur Smith has had to deal with

(57:36):
a lot in just a year and a half, right,
But he's not winning. Yeah, and that's that's the bottom line.
Then Zach Taylor's But Zach Taylor went to the Super Bowl,
yeah three, Zactly only won six games the first two years.

(57:56):
But I will tell you this much. And if you
know the history of this study Bengals and Mike Brown,
who's the hell of a guy. I love him, I
really do you get a job with the Bengals, you
got a job for life. You'll never get fired. That
that's just the way. He doesn't like change. And I
think part of the reason is and I read I
read the book of the late Paul Brown, the fact
that Mike was a kid when Paul Brown was with

(58:19):
the Cleveland Browns and when Art Modell fired him, and
it was devastating to the entire family. And I don't
think Mike wants to do that to anybody else. So
when you work for the Bengals, you have a job
for life. That happened with Sam Weiss and happens with
all these coaches. They stayed there forever. He never fires anybody. Well,
he doesn't hire hi because he also doesn't want to
have to pay them while they're working. Yeah, that's a

(58:41):
possibility to you check you get one check, you know,
I get multiple checks and get Bengals and somebody else. Nope.
Now I hear what you say. But look, I would
say this about the Falcons. He's seven and twelve and
I give you, I'll give you halfway, I'll meet you
that he's had some success. But when you get a tie,
then like Kyle Pitts, who's one of the best tight

(59:02):
ends in the league in my mind, he finishes with
just two catches for seventeen yards last week. You gotta
get this guy involved. In the offense. I'm not a mastermind,
I'm not a coach. I wouldn't know how to do it,
but I will tell my coaching staff. Get him involved.
He doesn't need to be involved. I am with you
on that. He has to be involved. You've got to
find a way too early in the game. Get him

(59:24):
some easy looks because if you don't, it's gonna be problematic. Right,
So get him the ball, get him going, and then
and then build a game playing off of that. Now,
when when the Bill shut down the Rams in Week
one and the score was thirty one ten, that Bills
did it with zone coverage? Can Atlanta do it with
zone coverage today? Do they have the personnel to do that?

(59:46):
I don't think they do, But that's gonna I would
think that DEFENSI according is to look at the film
and say, well, look, Buffalo did this, we're gonna try
to do this as well. Yeah, I mean you always
do that. You always look at the film from the
previous game just to kind of see what it um,
what it looks like, what the issues are, and then
you want to put some of those things into play
because you want to see have they fixed the problems?

(01:00:08):
If they haven't fixed the problems. You keep attacking the
sore spot. Um so it's not a comment to do
these things. I think they will copy some of those
game plans and we'll see if it works, right. I
don't think it will. I think that I think the
Rams play do win by double digits today, and it
may not be a bad idea. If you're a game
to take the plus ten, that's a pretty big deal
in the in the NFL, it's used to would you

(01:00:30):
take it? You take the ten? No, no, no, I wouldness, No,
I wouldn't. I think I think the Rams come back
because you gotta remember they were embarrassed on national TV,
the defending champs. They don't bring their a game. I
think I think we begin to see closer the Rams
at their best as opposed to the one that we

(01:00:50):
saw a week one. All right, I'm with I think
we both agree that the Rams are gonna win, you know,
but how much? But I'd say perhaps by ten we'll see.
He's Buckey Brooks on ad Remember this is Fox Football
suddenly a Fox Folits radio by the way, admitted admitted
even you were surprised with this win. That's next. But
first for all the sports news. His demn himself, Nick Cope. Alright, guys,

(01:01:13):
just got some news here in the last hour. The
Chargers team doctor who is treating Justin Justin Herbert's fractured
rib cartilage is being sued for medical malpractice by former
Chargers and Giant and current Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Remember
Tyrod Taylor suffered a punctured long while receiving treatment for
a rib injury back in when he was with the Chargers.

(01:01:35):
He's seeking five million dollars in damages. NFL Media reports
Tom Brady will receive a personal day each Wednesday throughout
the course of the season that began this past week.
It's because of his wife. I bet right, we can
my hand to make a couple because Tuesday's demandatory day
off and personnel news coming up with the games here

(01:02:01):
what we're about five and a half hours out. Players
expected to play, according to reports, Cardinals defensive end JJ
Wan expected to make his season debut, Saints running back
Mark Ingraham, Saints quarterback Jamis Winston, Bucks wide receiver Mike Evans,
and Bucks running back Leonard four Nett, along with Giants
receiver Canarius Tony Lions running back DeAndre Swift and Packers

(01:02:24):
receiver Alan Lazard all expected to play on Sunday. Game
time decisions, however, for forty Niners tighten George Kittle and
Bucks receiver Julio Jones, and also up in the air
Saints running back Alvin Camara and Ravens running back j K. Dobbins.
You guys mentioned it a little bit ago. Colts top
wide receiver Michael Pittman has been ruled out. In college football,

(01:02:48):
in the top ten ranked teams all one on Saturday,
Number one Georgia cruising over South Carolina forty eight to seven.
Number four Michigan blank to Yukon fifty nine, ZIP Number
nine Kentucky with a shoutout win as well thirty one
and nothing over Youngstown State. In baseball, the Brewers handed
the Yankees their second straight loss, winning four to one.

(01:03:10):
Padre shout out the Diamondbacks to ZIP Dodgers with a
seven to two win over the Giants for their one
hundred win of the season. Mariners lost to the Angels
two to one that drops them down to the third
wild card spot in the American League. Craves meat the
Phillies four to three, Mets one as well beating the Pirates,
so it's still a one game lead in the NL.
E's for New York Guardians swept a double header with

(01:03:32):
the Twins. White Sox defeated the Tigers, so the Guardians
currently have a four and a half game lead in
the a L Central. Finally, in boxing, Canelo Alvarez defeated
Ghanani Golovkin by unanimous decision in their third fight. Now,
let's go back to Bucky Brooks and Andy Ferman. Thank you, nitchy.
In an hour, by the way, we've costed the fifty
oddline and will be called Fox Football Sunday. He is

(01:03:55):
Bucky Brooks and Andy Ferman and another Super Bowl hangover.
We'll get to that in just about a minute by
a roll betting and about ten minutes from now. But
Buck got back into the action here Seahawks at the
forty nine and Seahawks and getting nine and a half.
Nine and a half. Yes it is. I said admit
this that you were surprised. You had to be surprised

(01:04:16):
with both scores last week, Seahawks beating Denver Monday night,
seventeen sixteen, and maybe even more so forty nine is
losing nineteen to ten to the Bears in Chicago. How
surprised were you with that forty Nino loss? Very surprised, um,
very surprised because you would think that the forty nine
is are always able to run the ball on anybody.

(01:04:38):
You look at the weapons, said they have deep o'
Samuel Brandon, George Kittle didn't play and it changes their offense,
but you still thought they had enough. And then we
were just waiting to see Howard cow Shanahan unleashed train Lands.
Well there was no unleashing, and there's acause of mess

(01:04:58):
that appears to be popping up, and so the night
is now. I would say this is the biggest game
on the weekend in terms of just the pressure. The
pressure is so emits on tray Lance to performed because
you can have the fan base screaming for Jimmy Garoppolo
and then couch and hands true Colors rule eventually show up.

(01:05:20):
Does he really like tray Lance or is he mad
that the team didn't take the guy that he would prefer?
Half wow the Trey Lance Last week against the Bears,
he was thirteen fifty five yards and an interception. Basically
not great, but It could have been worse. It could
have been worse, but it wasn't what the people expected,

(01:05:40):
and certainly coming out with a loss against the Bears
was not a good move today Seattle. Rashad Perry here
last week for the Seattle Seahawks at twelve carriage for
sixty yards. He needs a big game. Why you gotta
take the pressure of Gino Smith. I was impressed with
Gino last week on the Monday, and I came with Denver.
But I don't think you're gonna get that from Gino

(01:06:01):
every single week. You just don't. You can't. The guys
have proven backup quarterback and I to get him in
the starting situation like he is now in Seattle. You
gotta get the pressure off and I think Perry's gonna
be the guy to do it. More than twelve carries, yeah,
and he's had ripen. He has to have more than twelve.
He has to get a heavy workload. The Seattle c
Yhawks were able to win based on using their tried

(01:06:25):
and true formula that has always worked for him under
Pete Carroll. Run the football, played good defense, minimized the
self reflected errors, and you have a chance to win
the game in the fourth quarter they did that and
one and so now Pete Carroll is even emboldened, even
more emboldened to continue with that strategy moving forward because

(01:06:45):
he saw how it stared me to sew Saks. He
saw what they were, He saw how it starley the opponent.
He saw how his team can win games doing it.
Oh yeah, they're gonna be relentless when it comes to running,
playing defense, and minimal contributions to Gino. Well, I would
host it was the funding on his defense. Lets meet
against the Bears. Uh, it just fell apart when that

(01:07:05):
Bear's that big place. That defense opened up downfield in
the passing game for Chicago. It's amazing. It really wasn't.
I couldn't believe what I saw. But I think if
the forty night has cleaned up some of that mess
and some of the issues in that rain soap game
in Chicago last week, they should have no trouble beating
Seattle today and they should beat them, maybe by a touchdown.
I think, no, slot that lot is big. I know,

(01:07:33):
I think it'll be closer than that though. Yeah, I
can't see. I don't that that lot is big though,
And I stayed with those big lines. They worried me
those big lines. Not that I'm a gambler, but if
you're a gable to be wary of the big line.
Speaking of lines that are somewhat big, the Bengals are
at the Cowboys today. Bengals are given up seven and

(01:07:55):
a half. All right, minus seven and a half. Bengal started,
they had that Super Bowl ang over like the Rams.
They lose to the Steelers last week at home. Joe
Burrow was ugly last week. Four deceptions, but he still
passed with three thirty eight and two touchdowns. He had
five turnovers, but was even more disturbing. I think he
was sacked like seven times. So that offensive line still

(01:08:17):
has to shore it up. And it looks like they
haven't played well together. They have a bit together as
a unit because they haven't played in in the preseason. Yeah,
I mean there's something to that. There's definitely something to
do that. When you haven't played together, you don't have
the chemistry and the connectivity. So you gotta have those reps,
and you gotta have those reps in real game action.
I know there've been guys who've been able to do it.

(01:08:38):
It's the rare the rare ones that are able to
do it. Uh, you have to practice to get better.
You have to practice be a consistent player. And so
they got to practice to be a consistently a consistent,
high level producing team. And the big news today obviously
no Dak Prescott under center for the Dallas Cowboys. They
lose nineteen to three, the terrible offensive performance last week,

(01:08:59):
and have the bay Cooper Rush is a quarterback now. Uh,
it may not be as bad as they think, certainly
because Cooper Rush knows the system, he's been there for
several years. But the problem on the offensive side of
the ball. Ceedee Lamb two receptions twenty nine yards last week.
You gotta get more from Ceedee Lamb. If he's the
number one guy right now, You've got more from Ceedee Lamb.

(01:09:21):
And Ceede Lamb has to grow up. He has to
know that it is different. It's different being the number
one compared to being the number two. When you're the
number one, you get all the double teams, you get
all the attention. But even in spite of receiving all
that attention, the expectation is that you still produce. That's
the difference between what we call real number one receivers

(01:09:41):
and guys that are just occupying the role. So we'll
get a chance to see if Ceedee Lamb is really
a Number one in the coming weeks, because he also
has to be able to do it with it a
legit quarterback. Think about DeAndre Hopkins and all the guys
that played with him, yet his numbers were always at
a high level. Ceedee Lamb has to be able to
produce at that love and even without that Prescott, that

(01:10:03):
offense is some one week. But Ezekiel Elliott, here's the deal.
He only had ten touches last week, picked up fifty
two yards. You gotta get this guy twenty five touches.
The more shoved the ball in his belly. That's the
offense today. Cooper Rush, I'm not that confident with us.
What do you do? Run the football, run that football,
make them make those defensive minment have their tongues hanging out.

(01:10:25):
That's what you want to do. You absolutely want to
do it, and part of the reasons why you want
to do it is you want to shorten the game
and try and minimize the situations where Cooper rested exposed
two obvious passing downs and having to deal with the
defense coming after so heavy word load for Zekie Elliott

(01:10:46):
and Tony Pollard. Uh and let's see if those if
if the Beagles are good tacklers today, That's what I'm
telling the team. Let's see if the Beagles can tackle.
I want to make sure that we hammer it up
inside and let's see if they're lineback is in dbs
can tackle all day. Big game really for both of
these bowl clubs because Cowboys and Bengals are both looking
for their first win. Both O wan one. Who do

(01:11:08):
you like? Because you know, I'm a little jaded here
because I live in the Cincinnati area and I know
what it's like when this team loses, especially if they're
going to the super Bowl a year ago. They lose today,
don't go near any bridges because people will be jumping off.
That's the way they gore around here. They really they
expect this team to go to the super Bowl for
the next ten years. Ain't happening. You know, there's so

(01:11:29):
many variables, injuries, whatever it may be, and for the
time as well, so you know, take it in. Last
year the super Bowl was there, there's a good chance
they may not go back. I mean, there's always the
thing because it's hard to go back. It's hard to
go back to back. I mean that's why there's always,
um the Super Bowl hangover discussion, because what happens is

(01:11:50):
your team is never the same, uh. The turnover and
then ego and other stuff begins to play a part
of the fabric of the team. Everybody wants credit for
the sixth s and so you've become a little more distracted,
a little more selfish, um, and you lose some of
that specialness that existed with the team. You have to

(01:12:10):
talking on your back now too, Yeah, because you become
a misier state for every other team. That's it. They're talented, man,
They're really talented. And even as bad as they played
last week. I mean, with Joe Burrow having a game that, man,
you can't even expect him to ever have that kind
of game with all the turnovers, he still had them
in a position where they should have won the game.

(01:12:32):
I mean, that's a credit to them. They should run
the Cowboys out of the stadium today. That's that's what.
If they're on their on their details, they should run
the Cowboys completely out out the stadium. I'm with you.
And then MC fishing missed that extra point, they would
have won the ball game for them. They went into

(01:12:52):
overtime and they lost an overtime and the excuse mongers
out They were saying, well, they had a different long snapper.
You know, maybe maybe I'm just too harsh, Maybe I'm
a realist. I don't know, but my take on it
was that, you know, you're a pro, make the kick.
I don't care if you pull a guy out of
the stairs to be a long snapper. Your job, and

(01:13:13):
it's really you get paid damn good money to do it.
Make the freaking kick. That's all you gotta do. And
they blamed it on a long snapper. They said they
didn't turn the seams around the ball. I don't buy it.
I just think if you're a pro, you gotta you
gotta adjust it, and you gotta make it. You see, Andy, Now,
you're a long time radio guys, so you know, imagine
you don't have your favorite headphones. Mike isn't the same

(01:13:37):
for you. You know what I'm saying. You don't have
your your favorite ballpoint pen to take your notes. It
affects your performance. You have to fix your performance. And
so mac perstance, like man the snapper is not right,
so then the hold is coming in late to the
laces aren't spun the right way. There a lot of
little things to come with that, and kickers are very
very particular about all the things that they have around them,

(01:13:59):
and so he misses, you know, some of the stuff.
And so you just gotta go. That's why you're here
to learn me, learn me. That's why you see, that's
why I love you. Come, let me give you a hug.
He's Bucky Brooks, I'm Andy Firm. And by the way,
the results are in and they're all yours. Why of

(01:14:19):
course bottom barrel betting. It's freaking next. Fox Sports Radio
has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch

up now about eleven minutes before the top of the hour.
This is Fox Football Sunday. He's the man. He's Bucky Brooks,

(01:14:41):
I'm Andy Ferman. We'll see how he fairs, and botte
barrel betting. So let's play the game. It's bottom was
wanted to sleep people, get my money. I'll put your
break to sleep, Betty. Oh yeah, here's TV and he's
not Tom Brady. Hey, guys, good morning, Andy. Do you
believe in beginners luck? Don't tell me Bucky one? He

(01:15:02):
did four and one and you went one and four.
But I'll give you this, if you did predict that
Scott Frost would be gone, So i'll give you that. Well,
anybody knew that. Oh Bucky didn't though. Oh yeah, yeah,
that's the one that I missed. Yeah, yeah, Scott Fross
cost me. Yes he did. He got fired the next day.

(01:15:24):
We got fired Sunday. That that that day we list
one that I think it was. It was on Sunday. Yeah,
you're exactly right. Well, guys, we're gonna start with game
number one. The Patriots are heading to Pittsburgh. Burn a
FC doc bite well wide receiver Jacoby Myers have over
or under fifty one yards receiving Bucky's first he won

(01:15:46):
over how many yards? Fifty one? Let's go over, I'm
going under. There's no way that just stink. Come on
serious and come on, you're breaking my heart. Well, guys
are moving to game number two. The Washington Commanders are

(01:16:08):
taking on the Lions in Detroit today, well, Carson Wentz
throw over or under three and a half touchdowns today?
What that's a good line? Three and I have touchdowns
for wins. You know what I'm gonna say. I'm gonna
say under hot take sent hot tick, I say under

(01:16:30):
at Look, I don't know how you got those three
last week, but I'll take the under. Under. I love it. Well,
guys are moving the game number three. Next week, the
Arkansas Razorbacks are taken on the Aggies of Texas A
and M Well, Arkansas put up over or under thirty
one m damn to take Arkansas takes him right, you

(01:16:58):
got it? Takes MS. Defensive play, well, I'm saying under
under it. You know this is this is tough. I
think Akinson. No matter how good the EXAs and defense is,
I believe Arkinsa's offense is struggled. They struggled at least
for the first half yesterday. I'm gonna go with the under.
Not that I want to jump on Bucky's back, believe me,

(01:17:19):
but I am saying under Alright, Gays, Game number four,
we have two zero and old teams looking for their
very first win. That Cincinnati Bengals are set to play
the Cowboys today. Will Ezekiel Elliott have over or under
four point five yards carrying average against the Bengals? Uh,

(01:17:41):
let's see. I would say that they need to give
him the ball more than ten times. I would say yes,
I would say he will four five yards per car No, no, no,
no way. Really, the he have to defend the don't
have to defer been the passing game because they don't

(01:18:02):
have a quarterback. There's no way the Beings are gonna
let Zekiel Elli get loose. You think, okay, but if
he breaks to see, here's the thing. He just needs
one big breakthrough for like and then he carried. And
when was the last time we saw Ezekiel Elliott breaking. Well,
the thing that the thing that frightens me is they
don't give him the ball last week, but he had

(01:18:23):
ten carries. Maybe you put some twinkies down at the goal.
You're breaking big one. But that alright, guys are moving
the game number five and prove Legua number one. The
two worst teams in the league are battling for the
seventh team spot. San Martin is to face you TC
this morning. Well, San Martin have over or under one

(01:18:46):
and a half substitutions in the match. I have no
idea what the hell you're talking about. I really don't
translate that for me. Soccer legal one two teams too
bad teams well San Martin have over or under one
and a half substitutions in the match. Am my up

(01:19:06):
with Bucky's up? Buck'll take I'll take the over? Is
Peru you got? Can I get? Can I get a
weather report? Is a hot Let me check? Yeah? They
have to. They have to swap it out for I'm
going on there just because Bucky's went over. That's what

(01:19:26):
I'm going under. And that's it. That's it. Unbelievable. I
can't believe he won. What I mean, I'm just saying
because you knew what this game it takes time, But
I don't know. By the way, don't you damn move.

(01:21:16):
We're gonna do it anyway, but that's fine. But you
can get in touch with him at Bucky Brooks on
Twitter as well. A lot of heavy favorites today, guys,
as we have normally the overreaction to what we saw
in Week one, four double digit favorites and then six
games where the point spread is at least seven points? Wan?

(01:21:36):
Did this start with just a general let's wrap our
arms around what we've seen through a week and one game?
Is there a player team that positively or negatively that
you came out of Week one going oh, okay, that's
how it's gonna be. Bucky Well and I had this

(01:21:56):
discussion earlier. I think the two best teams are the
Buffalo Bills and a canc the Chiefs, and I would
say the Kansie. The Chiefs for me are the team
that I was like, yeah, okay, because we had a
discussion shortly after Tyrekio was traded, what is going to
happen to the Kanzie? The Chiefs and Tyrekio made so
much of this offense, and just in being in Green Bay,
being around Andy Read and knowing how he learned a

(01:22:18):
system from Mike Holbran. They believe that are two things
that are necessary Hall of Fame, like quarterback, stable system
will lead to the production. It is not about the
playmate on the outside. They believe it's about the quarterback
in the system and the structure that creates opportunities. Well,
and before we get yours, Andy, you know, watching the game,

(01:22:39):
uh the other night against the Chargers, Chargers had ample
opportunities to make players on Patrick Mahomes and they failed
and he made them pay for it. Conversely, Chargers opened
the door one time one time moving the ball really well.
You got a guy in Everett who's looking to get
substituted out. Nobody sees it on the sideline because they

(01:23:00):
want to keep tempo. He's gassed and it looks like
he's in mud, and it takes two steps to the
wrong side and all of a sudden, you got a
guy taking it back to the house. So that was
that was a curious move for me. But that's the
margin of error in the National Football League. It's it's
one play that gets made by a defense. It is
the margin of error. And Lombardi said, fatigues makes coward

(01:23:25):
of all of us. And that's what happened. You saw.
Jared was absolutely gas. So he's trying to run the route,
but he's really in survival mode at that point. He
was like, there's no way they could come back to me.
He's like, I just want display the end so I
can go over here and get a cup of Gator
read and relax. And he looks up and he turns
and run. He's like, oh my god, they threw the ball.

(01:23:46):
Holy smokes. And that's and that's what happens, you know,
And it's unfortunate because you never know which play, but
it was a game changing play, big play. That said, Andy,
what was your your big observation coming out a week one?
I got individual observations Number one. I'm very impressed with
sa Kwon Barkley. He's back with the Giants, fully healthy. Uh,

(01:24:07):
he's gonna be among the elite running backs at least
in fantasy football for sure. Hundred sixty four yards and
a touchdown and really and truly had that two point conversion.
And I went over Tennessee I was impressed with Sa
Kom Barkley. But uh, one of the things on the
other side of the coin. You talk about the charges
and the wide receiver Mike Williams Justin Herbert through for
like two hundred seventy nine d yards. Keenan Allen left

(01:24:29):
early in that game. Okay, where was Mike Williams. Mike
Williams two receptions for ten yards? Give me a break.
I mean to me, that's bad, That's real bad. And
again another receiver a Marii Cooper and Cleveland. What's he doing? So,
I mean, those are the two negatives I've seen. But
the depositive was Sa Kwon Barkley big time. Yeah, Chargers

(01:24:51):
did a good job and coming back to Williams five
receptions in that first quarter against Kansas City. But your
point very well taken. In week one, just appearing act,
I wanted to follow up. I heard you guys as
I was doing my prep and stretching. You know, I
got to keep the hammy's limber. So well, that's it, right,
I mean, you know now I'm gonna try to cut weight.

(01:25:11):
We turned the heat up to about nineties seven degrees
in the studio. I will be doing my my lunges.
I'm wearing a sauna suit the whole nine yards. Uh.
Going back to the Ezekiel Elliott prop bet that tab
gave you guys in bottom barrel betting of four point
five yards per carrying. Andy, you mentioned, hey, if he
could just bust off that one big run. You know

(01:25:34):
when the last time he had a run of over
forty yards was I don't remember two thousand seventeen in
a forty to ten win over San Francisco, he ripped
off a seventy two yard run. In twenty twenty, he
had a long of nineteen one along of twenty one

(01:25:54):
en uh long of twenty seven. Then you go back
to ten, he actually had three three carries of at
least thirty yards. So it's been a minute since we've
seen the uh the quick twitch muscles like we saw
in that sixty eight yard or from se Kwon Barkley. Yeah,

(01:26:14):
but I think that's the only way is to get
that average. I was just trying to do the crack
research thing because you know, we have a big team
here as any sitting here with a pen and paper
before the show, and I was like, I'm curious because
that's one of the things that I was wondering Andy
as well. Right, ten carries fifty two yards last week
in a game that, let's face it, wenk Martin Dale's

(01:26:36):
team did a pretty good job of keeping them around, Right,
and nineteen to three is your final defense has no
Penali's offense is just a mess. They're running the option
and doing all sorts of craziness. Uh, we'll talk about
it a little bit more next hour, Bucky. But you know,
Germaine to the conversation. Here, you've got Mike McCarthy in

(01:26:58):
a press conference more or less called now killing Moore's
schemes after week one. I mean, you already got a
giant dumpster fire running around in Dallas. Yeah, but look,
this was you knew this was going to happen, and
we knew what was going to happen because it was
Phil it was doing from the start. Mike McCarthy at
one point was recognized for his play called the skills

(01:27:19):
as a Super Bowl champion. I've had defense coordinators tell
me back in the day when he was at his peak,
his stone cold killer. But yet you have him standing
on the sideline watching killing Moore running offense, and he
can't jump in killing Moore's offense last creativity. There's nothing,
uh that's sizzle worthy about the office. I know his

(01:27:42):
team has breaked what number one in offense twice during
his three year tenure. But right now is when we
need to see if Killing Moore is really a wizard?
Can he find a way to generate production? Can't he
find a way to not only get production, can he
lead his team back and get his team into the
winning column. You'll right, and I'll tell you what the

(01:28:06):
excuse will be today. Should the Bengals beat them, and
I think they will beat the Cowboys, Ticula say, with
Dak Prescott's not there and they got Cooper Russia quarterback, Ah,
that is an excuse because that offense stunk when Doc
Prescott was quarterbacking. This line started as a Dallas narrow
home favorite. With the Dak Prescott injury and the Mets
that we saw, Cincinnati now a full touchdown favorite. Uh.

(01:28:30):
The line is only forty two and a half on
the over under, though Fellows not expecting uh fireworks as
it goes. H Cooper Rush had a big game back
Week eight last year, five yards, two touchdowns and an
interception in a win over Minnesota. That's the last time
Ceedee Lamb top one hundred receiving yards in a game. Andy,

(01:28:51):
you're Mr. Cincinnati offensive line, You're ready to play a
couple of reps because these guys are no good and
Joe Burrow holds the ball too damn long. You know,
Joe Burrow, You'll never see a game like that, I
don't think ever in his career four interceptions, he was
sacked like six seven times. And the game, the way
the game started off last week was ridiculous. I mean,
first play sack, second play pick six. Very uncharacteristic, however,

(01:29:16):
and I'm bucking and I talked about this before, the
fact of lack of not preparation, but lack of unity
on the offensive line. They hadn't played together. They don't
play in preseason because Zach Taylor. It takes a page
out of Sean mcveigh's book, because he was on his staff,
and that's what Sean McVeigh does. He doesn't play as
regular as during the preseason. I think it takes time.
There's rust on them. So it's a big test today

(01:29:38):
to see if that line could judge each other, play
with each other and know each other. That's what it's
all about. Yeah. I came into into the season with
my My big thing for the year was how much
I didn't trust anybody's offensive line outside of the Colts.
Too much movement, too many shifting parts, and we won't
know until probably the second order of seasons whether these

(01:30:01):
offensive lines can actually jell. So in the interim, as
a quarterback, get the ball out because the Buck made
a great point earlier today saying that basically September is
like preseason in the NFL. Well, Belichick always treated that way, right, Bucky,
and and now it seems that more coaches are getting
on board with that. Yeah, I mean, I think that's

(01:30:24):
has to be. You have to use the first month
of the season to figure out who are we and
how do we need to play with what the personnel
that we have. You speculate the entire offseason training camp,
or we're gonna be able to do this, this and that,
but you really won't know until you get into games,
and so you take the first four games to figure out. Okay,

(01:30:44):
let's do a self assessment going into week five. All right,
I like this. I don't like that. I feel like
if we played to this strength and it gives us
a chance to minimize this other weakness. And that's how
you build out your plans um from the Bayekan see buck.
You have always praised Lovey Smith Andy same thing for
for one, one big thing he had in Chicago, right,

(01:31:05):
he had his relationship with his players. They couldn't win
in November and December against good teams, that was the case.
But he always talked about going four games at a time,
how do I do this quarter of the season. And
I always respected that and I held that above everything
until he played for a tie last week and then
you know, and that goes right back out the window.

(01:31:25):
Oh wait a minut. Hold on. So here's the thing
about them playing for a time because you read played
for the time and the loss. So what you want
to do is you want to put yourself in a
position two at the end of the year. You don't
want that game, a silly loss, to come back to
bite you in the Houston Texans. Are you expecting to
be what you meaning for football in the second to

(01:31:46):
last week of December. It's now I'm approaching it as
the coach. As a coach, I'm trying to get my
team every opportunity to be at the best. At the
end of the year. All we try to do is
to play get into the tournament. So if you think
about breaking it up in quarter, is okay. So we
didn't lose it, So maybe we finished the first quarter
to one and one. Al Right, we're still trending because

(01:32:07):
most coaches who operate under that purpose the goal under
sixteen game season. Hey, we just want to go three
and one each quarter, three and one each quarter. We'll
get us to twelve and four, twelve and four more
times than not. We just one the top two season
the conference. You know, you make a great point because
I think the Indianapolis coach would have loved the tie
at Jacksonville last year the last game of the year

(01:32:27):
instead of a loss, Yeah, because that would have put
him in Yeah. But that's a much different circumstance though, Fellas.
I mean, Week one, we got a team that, let's face,
the expectations are no, no, no, and you you you
basically gave the game away. You're up twenty to three,
scratching survive and I guess you got okay. I know

(01:32:47):
five d nineteen to ninety nine and all that. That's
all find good still had a seventeen point lead. Yeah,
I had a seventeen point lead. But is it better
to give away as a tie or to give it
away as a loss? You can here's what happens after
this week, Mike, you won't remember what happened in week one.
You'd be like, hey, the Texas could be undefeated if
they went to that. So that's the thing. It's a

(01:33:09):
week to weekly. You do whatever you can to get
out of the game that week. Did you go to
next week? Yeah? You make an interesting point there, Mike
when you said, you know, uh, the Texas gonna be
there down the stretch. If you're a coach, you gotta
believe you will be. I mean, I watched Hard Knox
and and you look loosen to Dan Campbell, he thinks
they're gonna be in the Super Bowl alliance. I mean,
what's the point that of practicing? What's to put a

(01:33:30):
suiting it up if you don't believe you're gonna win?
I guess I guess The point I'm making is you're
inside a final minute. You're in Indianapolis territory on the
just inside. So it's not like you're at the twenty
or anything, but you can control the final seconds right there,
They're not gonna move into field goal range because blanket
Ship is not hitting anything right. So by evidence, by

(01:33:53):
the fact that he get fired, uh thereafter, just it
just seemed you take your shot with Davis Mills, try
to win buire a little bit of competence there instead
of Hey, we escaped with a tie. That's what it was.
Fourth and what it was it fourth and three. You
gotta be able to get three yards. We had this
conversation we'll do it again with Russell Wilson and that

(01:34:16):
terrible decision making by Hackett and Wilson being a coward
not fighting him for the ball at the end of
that game on Monday night. Here, let's kick a sixte
You know what that that's a great point that answers
your question. I think today Denver would rather have gone
out of that game with a tie than the seventeen
sixteen loss. Yeah, but here's the thing about both of

(01:34:37):
those situations, and they're different. And Russell Wilson supposedly I
am getting an m v P caliber player that we
had to have to push us over the top, as
different than Davis Mills, who's the second year player they
were still learned the ropes. It's also different based on
my circumstances Levy Smith, who I got the job from
Dave Culley. I cannot put myself in a situation where

(01:35:02):
they're like, oh, he can't win, he can't do this,
the tide doesn't hurt me. I have to play from
a situation of I want to retain my job, and
the best way to do it is to extend games
and to extend the season and to do all these
other things. I can't. I can't take that approach because
also by by going for it, if he misses it,
you put it close to midfield. Matt Ryan is a

(01:35:24):
veteran quarterback who we have seen orchestrate these comeback drives.
There is no way that I want to give it
to him. Yeah, we'll put play defense and just walk
out of here with the time. All right. I'll respectfully disagree,
and I and I really do mean that I respectfully disagree.
Normally people say that they're all mad and huffy and
walk away. I'll respectfully disagree with this one. Coming up

(01:35:44):
next on the show Live from the tire Rack dot
Com Studios, we get into the raining games that Bucky
and Andy, haven't done yet, and the first one, I
may just take my headphones off, go for a walk
and wait for a signal that the analysis is finished.

I make notes. Sorry, you'll see a lot of names
with a couple of data points. That's it, though, perfect
the excellence of elocution, stealing liberally from breadth to hit

(01:37:36):
man Heart. All right, let's get into the last remaining games.
This one may hurt my soul. Bears said Packers hang
out Bears. The Packers line open that eight and a half.
It's all the way out to ten before getting some resistance.
But the total just forty one and a half. One
member of what I call the Holy Triumvirate of quarterbacks

(01:37:56):
everybody hates in this game. Last week we saw them
play each other just to build and Trey Lance. Well,
now we got Field against Rogers, who everybody hates for
all sorts of reasons. We watched the Packers offense how
a bunch of different game. It is, if Watson Hall's
in that seventy five yard touchdown pass boat as they say,
if ifs and butts, candy nuts, blah blah blah, ten

(01:38:18):
different receivers caught the ball, lose the turnover battle two.
Oh but we as we know, and he's told us
on many instances, Aaron Rodgers owns the Bears. Bucky, does
my team have a prayer at all? You know, they
certainly have a prayer. I mean they have a prayer,
but pray I mean, I mean it's a rivalry game.

(01:38:40):
The Packers feel like they own the Bears. I mean
we've seen Aaron Rodgers discount double check and say as much.
It's tough even though the Bears look good on defense
last week. I I just have a tough time thinking
that this Packers offense is gonna struggle back to back weeks.
I can't go what you might. It pains me. I
think it's a go Pack go week Andy. I want

(01:39:01):
the Bears to win because I want to see Aaron
Rodgers crying, point fingers and make excuses about everybody and
everything the Bears to to win, and I hope they're listening.
You gotta get more for my guy, David Montgomery. They're
running back last week only seventeen carries for twenty six yards.
Pound the football. If you can run the football, keep

(01:39:21):
Aaron Rodgers on the offense off the field. That a
pack is Ay j Dillon and Aaron Jones. They only
combine for twenty three total touches, only eight for Jones,
so they may be doing the same thing, but they're
not afraid of the Bears offense. David Montgomery, please run
the football running for today until tomorrow, then maybe you
got a shot. Yeah, Jones only seeing the ball eight

(01:39:42):
times inexcusable since it is my uh my hometown Bears,
and I know I got a friends and family up
and listening. Uh. The guy that that needs also the ball.
Andy alongside Montgomery had twenty total touches, three catches twenty
four yards out of the backfield Khalil Herbert because you
saw him on that sloppy track that burst into the line.
Montgomery's likes to feel a little bit more. He likes

(01:40:03):
to feel things out, which is why he had seventeen
carries for twenty six yards because well, when you're feeling
on that, you're giving away any advantage of offensive line
may have had, which is not a very good offensive
line to boot. But for justin fields also need more.
And he carried the ball eleven times for twenty eight yards,
just deciding he didn't even trust the handoff as it goes. Yeah, wishing, wanting, hoping.

(01:40:26):
I can't pick the Bears to win, but maybe close,
maybe close. I think I'll do ten tens of very
difficult number. I would take ten in this game. I
think we could take the ten. I'll do it with trepidaciously.
All right, let's into the next game, Cardinals and Raiders.
We got the Cardinals. The defense didn't bother to show
up last week, and we watched Patrick Mahomes do exactly

(01:40:49):
what he wanted against them this one Vegas. It started
out as a field goal line now out to five
and a half fifty one and a half the total.
Expecting some points in this one. J. J. Watt expected
to be able to go. But on a pitch count,
how much does that change things for the Cardinals defense
to maybe he put up some resistance, buddy, I mean

(01:41:10):
it stands a little bit because the veterans a three
time defensive Player of the Year, but at this stage,
because I don't know if he can dominate like he
once could. I think the big thing for the Cardinals
can they be organized on offense. You know last year
when they had a great start is because the offense
was clicking at a high level. We haven't seen them
return to that point. So the person's on Cliff Kingsbury

(01:41:32):
Calamury with his new contract to step up their games.
They have to find a way to score points. And
I'm saying they got to score a bunch of points
because without DeAndre Hopkins, I need more from Calamuria. They
made me more, uh contributions as a runner as well
as a passer. Can George get him over Andy? Crazy game?
Let's talk about the Raiders for a second. They got

(01:41:54):
one of the worst offensive lines in football. They're gonna
prushure Derek car Right. He had three deceptions in the
town four nineteen loads to the charges. He was sacked
five times Arizona. I mean, what about Kyler Murray. He
only averaged five point seven yards on a pass attempt
last week. The defense was hit up for three hundred
sixty sixty yards and five touchdowns against Kansas City. This

(01:42:16):
could be a high scoring game over and under. To me,
it's gonna be over fifty one. And I like the
Raiders to win this game because I can't trust that
offense on on Arizona. I think it'd be like a
four game Raiders. Yeah, for Arizona, I think you need
more than James Conner falling forward, right, That's that's what

(01:42:37):
he averaged. His height plus about three inches, so they
eat a little bit more that I know. He found
the end zone. That's all finding good to save your
fantasy day, but that's not good for trying to move
the sticks. Hollywood Brown scores in his opener, Greg Doorge, Yes,
he's one of your fantasy Uh perhaps pickups here? Nine targets,
seven catches, sixty three yards as they wait for Hoppins

(01:42:59):
come back on the other side. For for the Raiders,
Derek Carr has got to go back and watch the
tape and remember that Darren Waller and hunter Ren Broke
can catch a football. But I will tell you this much,
I think they'll line the list time it was five
and a half carminals getting five. I might take the
five and a half. Yeah, I think they can go
in and win this game out right. I have no
faith in the Raiders whatsoever. Wow, not that I trust

(01:43:22):
Cliff Cakesbury here. They're either. I don't like either of
these teams. How's that? How about we played for a tie?
Like lovey? Oh, you're you're really mad about that? Yeah,
it's loser ball. It's not loser ball. It's not loser
ball because it's not a loss. Lose the ball is
going for it, not getting it, and then taking a loss.

(01:43:44):
I'll trust that my offense could get me three yards. Bucky,
I'm heated, all right, I'm really not. It was just
a nice way to segue back into it because I
don't like either of these teams to give me much
over the year. How about having fun this more? Akay,
it's an NFL Week two. I'm still in the Smorge
Board of football. We'll see how much I love some

(01:44:05):
of these games when it's week twelve. He's andy, there's
Bucky Brooks. O'h my Garmin, Fox Football Sunday, Fox Sports Radio.
A couple more games to get into to complete our
slate this morning, but first we sent it over to
Nick to cope My apologies, he's got all of the
updates on the injury list because it is lengthy already

(01:44:26):
in week two. All good, Mike, Yes, I'll get that
in just a second. But a story this morning that
the Chargers team doctor who is treating Justin Herbert's fractured
rib cartilage is being sued for medical malpractice by former
Chargers and current Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Taylor suffered a
punctured lung while receiving treatment for a rib injury while

(01:44:47):
with the Chargers. In He's seeking five million dollars in
damages and current injury news as it pertains to Week
two getting underway today. Among the players listed as questionable
but reportedly expected to play, you've got Cardinals defensive end
JJ Want, Saints running back mark Ingram, Saints quarterback Jamis Winston,

(01:45:08):
Packers receiver Alan Lazard, Giants receiver Kid Areas, Tony, Bengals
receiver T Higgins, Lions running back DeAndre Swift, Bucks receiver
Mike Evans, and Bucks running back Leonard. For all of
those gentlemen expected to play today, a few players looking
like game time to game time decisions and perhaps teetering

(01:45:32):
on being unable to go. We we will see in
the coming hours, but those names include forty Niners tight
and George Kittle, Bucks receiver Julio Jones, Ravens running back
j K. Dobbins, and Saints running back Alvin Camara. And
as we learned on Saturday, the Colts will be without
their top wide receiver in Michael Pittman. So that's what

(01:45:53):
we've got on the injury front in the NFL for
the time being. In college football on Saturday, not a
ton of drama. The top ten teams all one, although
Arkansas had to erase a ten point fourth quarter deficit
against Missouri State to win final score thirty eight to
twenty seven. Some of the late games you might have
missed last night. Number seven USC dominates Fresno State seventeen.

(01:46:17):
Number fourteen Utah had no problem with San Diego State
thirty five to seven the final and that one and
a little off the board here, but Iowa Nevada had
to deal with a four hour lightning delay. They didn't
finish that game, I don't think until after to a m.
Central time. Iowa wins it in around twenty seven to nothing,

(01:46:37):
but those teams had to wait around a long time touchdown,
they did that. They added more a couple of them. Yeah,
they covered that twenty three and a half point spread
they did. Just wondering all week, how's that gonna happen?
Get up four hour lightning delay. Apparently security left at
one point, and so people were got up in the

(01:46:59):
middle of the night. We're walking their dogs and a
couple of people just wandered into the stadium because no
one was telling them they couldn't. They gave away all
the food at the stands, So it's like guys are
sitting there with twenty pound bags of popcorn in the
stands and handing it out to their buddies and pretty
crazy environment. Anarchy in Iowa City, gotta love it quickly
to baseball, Dodgers won there one game with a seven

(01:47:20):
to two and over the Giants. Mariners lost to the
Angels two to one. They dropped down to the third
wild card spot in the American League. Andre shout out
the Diamondbacks to nothing. And in boxing, Canelo Alvarez defeated
Kanani Golovkin by unanimous decision in their third fight. Now
let's go back to my Carmen, Andy Furman and Bucky Brooks.
Wait a quick question, Yeah, quick quit. If you're a gamble,

(01:47:41):
would you accept the punctured lung for a five million
dollar check? I'm thinking I would when I heard that, Taylor.
I don't have to go back out onto the field
and take hits or anything. So it's five millions of
dollars a lot of money. I'd be hard pressed to
say that I take a punctured lunk for five million. Yeah.

(01:48:01):
I've been thinking about how much derision Chase Daniel got
coming off the bench the other day, and everybody look
at his career earnings or whatever. The guy adds value.
It might not be on the field, but obviously people
have decided for the last decade plus to keep him
around rosters gotta be something. But yes, the punctured long
think about it. To Rod Taylor, he was supposed to

(01:48:23):
be the guy, at least short term, although I don't
think just well, actually, given the coaching staff that was
in place at the time, Bucky, we may have never
seen Justin Herbert No, I mean I mean during that season,
unless things really went off the rails. Yeah, I mean, look,
they were trying to slowly put him in. I think
to Justin Herber's credit, he found out five minutes before

(01:48:44):
kids who was ready to go, and quietly they have
discovered and uncovered a superstar. Um, you know these things
are always tough, Like when you think about Tyrod Taylor
and what Tyrod Taylor lost by having the punch along,
because he did lose an opportunity to be the starter.
He did lose an opportunity to maybe part lay a

(01:49:06):
series of starts into a bigger contract. Um, I'm surprised
that the the number is so small at five million.
You know, he's a quarterback plan on marquee position. Who
knows what it could have looked like. But well, I
can't wait to see how the suits resolved. I'll tell
you why he is getting for the punctured lung will

(01:49:27):
be bigger than any NFL contract he would have gotten
his quarterback. Oh, he's a guy that I think, I mean,
I'd buy his book because you want to talk about
a guy who's been snake bitten in a bunch of spots.
Every time it looks like he's about to take the rain,
something crazy happens. I mean, it all started with native

(01:49:47):
Nathan Peterman, but he the guy leaves Buffalo to the playoffs,
and then they're trying to remove him for Nathan Peterman. Unbelievable, right,
and then in Cleveland he's gonna now we got we
got the number one pick. We're taking Baker. And then
like every place at Houston, like just go to place
to place. He's had weird circumstance to take him out

(01:50:08):
of the starting job time and time again. And then
obviously the punctured lung. But yeah, sign me up for
five million dollars. Guys, I'm there with you. All right,
let's get one more give in here. Thanks to to
Nick Cope for that update. There, Titans and Bills, right, Titans, Bills.
Everybody's on board the Bills. This has been pressured out
and started at minus seven all the way out to

(01:50:29):
minus ten Tennessee with that season opening lost. We got
Derrick Henry twenty one carries eighty two yards the yard
per carry average. A little bit concerning Hilliard, the guy
that was their hero in week one three catches sixty
one yards and two scores. He's out with a hamstring injury.
So now they've got to find a playmaker in the
receiving corps. And last week Robert Woods one catch two

(01:50:52):
targets thirteen yards? Am I building is up to I'm
trying to build it up because I care for all
two seventy two guys. But this one look like it's
set up for a Bill's route. What say you, Bucky? Oh?
I think we gotta be careful. Uh. The Buffalo Bills
have been celebrated for the last week and a half
since they rocked the Rams. Sometimes, man, it ends up
being a recipe for disaster. I think this is a

(01:51:14):
Bill's win, but a lot closer than we make it
out to be. And it well, it's Buffalo's home openers,
so and it's gonna be in prime time, so they
got the crazy he's gonna be out there. But I
will tell you this, I'm gonna run this by Buckey,
but he can help me here. I asked the question,
can Derek Henry run against the Buffalo Bills defense? Because
I gotta believe and I'm not a football maven here,

(01:51:36):
but I think the Bills are gonna use a third
linebacker against Derrick Kennedy to stop on his run. That's funny,
you know. No, this is one that you have to remember.
Last year, the tendency Titans kind of beat them up,
I mean beat them up physically. Yeah. And Buffalo d
is a little banged up here, Yeah, beat him up.
And so I think this is a get right game,

(01:51:59):
and it's in see Titan's mind. We gotta re establish
who we are. We gotta get back to the brand
rockham Socking football. We dropped one to the Giants that
we don't understand how we lost it. So the reason
why this will be a type game is because I
think you can see some of the best of what
we will see from Tennessee Titans. He's Bucky Brooks. That's
Andy Berman at Andy Berman. F s are at Bucky Brooks.

(01:52:21):
You find me over at small Windome. As we continue
next live from the tire Act dot Com studios. Two
more games to go and the player to Watch of
the week. Yeah, we'll go around and pick one guy
that either is going to kill your fantasy lineups or
kill your opponents. We'll do that next year on Fox.

with you all, Fox Football Sunday here Fox Sports Radio.
So many games, so little time countdown to kick off,
coming up a little more in an hour from now
here on these Fox Sports Radio airwaves. But we have

(01:53:04):
two more games to get through to complete the first
look here on your Sunday morning. So without further ado,
let's get to it. Vikings at Eagles Vikings. Everybody's darling,
coming off a week one win over the Packers, but
they're getting two points on the road at Philadelphia. Fifty
and a half is your total here? Jalen Hurts one

(01:53:26):
of those guys. People still have some questions. But when
we do know Andy and Bucky is that they can
run the football, piling up over two hundred total rushing yards,
including some efforts from Jalen Hurts as well. But we
know this for Kirk Cousins generally outside of that one
o'clock window problems just two and nine on Monday Night

(01:53:47):
football in his career, Kim Kevin O'Connell get rid of
those demons with a giant sage brush. Bucky, who I mean?
They are the They're the hot team. Everyone's talking about
what they able to do, and it's about offensively. How
he is unlocked Justin Jefferson, you know, if he's able

(01:54:07):
to move him around, because what he's basically done is
taking all the stuff that he learned watching Cooper Cup
in l A and do the same stuff with Justin
Jefferson and kind of tweak some of the other stuff
to fit their personnel. I like him, and I think
that the Vikings kind of keep it going. I was
not a believer, but after watching them just completely put
their hands on the backers, Yeah, it seems legit. I

(01:54:28):
think Kevin O'Connor is going to kind of sending out
a signal to the football world that his team is legit. Andy,
what are you thinking? I tell you what. I think
this game is gonna go down to the last possession.
We go either way. But I will tell you this
as much the Eagles really struggle to pressure the passing.
So I think it's gonna be a big day for
Kirk Cousins. He's got Adam feeling, He's got Justin Jefferson.
Jefferson like two touchdowns last week. Dalvin Cook ground for

(01:54:50):
nine drs last week, So they got that offense going
on both the ground and in the year. But as
far as the Eagles are concerned they offer real A J.
Brown hundred fifty five yards and receiving list Eagles. So uh,
I would say it's gonna be a close game. Take
the over over fifty points combined. But I think it's
to go down to the last possession. I think the

(01:55:10):
Eagles win this one, though Eagles are curious, right. A J.
Brown had his ten for one, got her three catches
for sixty and then there were five other receptions, four
from a running back and one from another tight end
totally twenty eight yards. But they did run for two
d six yards. Jalen Hurts had one fewer rushing attempt
than he did pass completions. Gentlemen, how about that there's

(01:55:34):
a random factoid of the week as Mike tries to
just go to the minutia. Uh and and while you
would dazzle you with craziness. Alright, one more game to go,
tex In said, Broncos. There you go, love, Come on, man,
we gotta get it right this week. Uh. Denver ten
point favorites at home, forty five the total. We watched
the Broncos fumble away their opportunities to win a big

(01:55:58):
opener for Russell Wilson for Nathaniel Hackett, Pete Carroll ran
around like he won the Super Bowl, and always press
conferences post game for Russell Wilson the big player to
Jerry Judy. But looking at this game, fellas we watched
the Indianapolis Colts run game, really get to work, expecting

(01:56:20):
a lot of Melvin Gordon and Javante Williams, who was
huge in the in the passing game as well with
eleven receptions total on this one, just forty five? Bucky,
what are we expecting? You know, it's tough because this
is uh such a compelling matchup. Like when I just
think about how these teams are constructed, I know it
should be kind of like a walk, but I don't know. Man.

(01:56:42):
I'm worried about Russell. I'm worried about the way this appears.
I'm worried about the trust within this team based on
the decision. So I'm gonna go with them, but I
don't feel great about it. I don't think they are
what we tried to make them out to be. I'll
tell you this, Melvill Gordon's gonna get the bull and
twelve times in his belt. He was twelve fifty eight
last week. But I will say this to make a

(01:57:02):
quick and simple Broncos win. I don't think Houston's offense
doesn't have enough firepower really to keep up with the Broncos.
If the Broncos are playing without mistakes, that's the key
right there. Still trying to figure out that offense. Rex
burkehead with a huge touch total, trusting the veteran. In
week one, I think we see more of Damian Pierce.
He heard Lovey Smith refer to it. He was the

(01:57:24):
darling of the preseason, and certainly in fantasy circles, everybody
went clamoring to grab him. Why because you're trying to
find a workhorse because there are so few of them
in the National Football League. I like Davis Mills. Now
it's just a question of, all right, beyond Brandon Cooks,
who's gonna step up to be that number two guy?
Nico Collins on the radar? But we need to see

(01:57:45):
it week in week out, and that is the first
plush look through the games. Going back to Andy and
Bucky taking over on the airwaves almost three hours ago, gentlemen,
before we depart this hour of Fox Football Sunday, is
there a player in particular as you've gone through all
your analysis that you're expecting to light it up and

(01:58:06):
be the leader on the headlines and all the tabloids
tomorrow morning. Yes, yes, okay, this guy was a tough
five Fantasy choice. His name Kyle Pitts. Tight end Atlanta
last week, two passes for nineteen yards. They're playing at
the Rams today. He's got to light it up, and

(01:58:27):
I think he will look at trust in Marcus Mariota.
I love it. Yeah, that's next level stuff right there.
That that is that is next level stuff. Hurt. Mike
Harmon takes shots at this team as if this team
is not any good, and that's the Las Vegas Raiders.
I think after today, I think you willcount to eat
your words. And Aria I have no trust in them either. Yeah. Yeah,

(01:58:52):
but I think the Raiders put a beat down. I
think they stomp out down. I think they stop out
the Cardinals. Well, I would assume that Derek Carr isn't
given me three interceptions again, right, that's very un characteristic.
I don't know because if he does, they lose. Right,

(01:59:13):
had four and they had an opportunity to win. So
that was unusual to last week. Well, that that is
absolutely the case. Long snapper kicking issues, but he did
walk away with the loss. He had a chance and
he couldn't finish the job. Is really when it comes
down to right you had. You had every opportunity to
steal that game and still finish the job even with

(01:59:34):
all of those struggles. The early pick six. Uh, As
I look at the board, guys a guy that I
think people need a big game from him. I really
want to see what Christian McCaffrey can do Week one,
only fifty seven total yards. He did find the end zone,
but if Carolina is gonna be any good, he's got
to be a star. Oh and DJ more needs more
to Thanks Andy at Andy Furman fs are where you

(01:59:57):
find a Bucky and I continue next here on Fox.

(02:01:54):
with you, Bucky? How are we peeling? Y'all lathered up?
Rid Man? I'm excited so much going on, so many
games right because we have over reactions coming out of
Week one. Some will be proven justified, others are well
hot take nonsense. But we live in the stats and
in the the base of what we saw with the

(02:02:14):
eye test, and then it's a matter of interpretation trying
to figure out how much is a Week one? We
got all those marquee matchups right? Are is a team
as bad as they looked facing a potential juggernaut Rams
versus Bills? Our teams as bad as they may have looked.

(02:02:34):
And I'll let you all fan bases of whatever team
pick those out last hour. I used the term holy
Triumvirate in terms of quarterbacks whose every throw will be
scrutinized on a whole other level. That's justin fields, right,
because everybody thinks the Bears are absolute trash. You have
Trey Lance, who everybody's looking at, Jimmy Garoppolo and anything

(02:02:55):
he does that is in football related, The Burder film
is there for you. And then of course to a
tongue of Byla, if he if he throws an incompletion, Bucky,
the world has ended. So those are the three guys
where the microscopes uh and the tongues wagging clearly leaders
in the clubhouse here uh. In at Tom Brady. Evidently

(02:03:20):
it's a big deal that he's gonna get Wednesday's off.
So here's what I want to say about Tom Brady
getting Wednesdays off. Like, given the situation and a speculation
around what may be going on with Tom Brady in
his personal life, you have to understand that Tuesday's at
the military day off International Football League. So now if
you give him Tuesday and Wednesday, it gives him an

(02:03:42):
opportunity probably to get somewhere like let's just say he
has to get to New York or whatever Monday night,
Tuesday night, all day Wednesday to fly in and get
back Wednesday night. That is a more doable, maybe normal
life then what most football players will be doing, particularly

(02:04:02):
if his family is not necessarily reside in Tampa with
him not to be there. And you you can correct
me on this, my understanding is you've got a lot
of veterans that have days off. They might be in
the building, but that they're not practicing on Wednesday's right,
We've got Carolina talking about pitch counts and what they're
doing to save Christian McCaffrey. Uh and to me, it's

(02:04:23):
it's seemingly been kind of standard in that way that
veterans have that day. Yeah, for some people, like I mean,
depending on your standing on your team and in the league, Yeah,
you get more time off. You get more time off
to uh rest and recuperate, get yourself ready because you
have a heavy workload. So it's not uncommon to give

(02:04:44):
guys this kind of time off. I just want to
tend to explain it in that context. In case you
see the headlines, you see what they put on pay
six and audited other stuff. If he's having to kind
of battle and make some concessions at the house to
continue playing. Well, he was a Wednesday, that's two days
plus Monday. That's three days that you kind of at

(02:05:04):
the house. That might maybe alleviate some of the Pressure's
just a little bit of balance, a little bit. Yeah,
still taking that Microsoft surface or your iPad or whatever
you got with you. Certainly not detached altogether. But I guess,
I guess the point I was just trying to make
is since this is going to be the headline everywhere
that we we do have a lot of veterans that

(02:05:25):
that gets some concessions this way. So his is special
because of the page six side of things. But from
a standard operating procedure in the National Football League, not
not egregious, I guess, and something that's completely out of pocket. No,
not not egregious, and it can be done. It's done
whether he's there in the building or not. Wednesdays just

(02:05:48):
becomes the backup quarterback there Wednesdays in your normal installation
plan is your base package. You're talking about first and
second down. A lot of times it's the first, uh
introduction to how we're going to attack the other team
if he was missing Thursday and Friday, because Thursday is
normally third down, Friday is yours on situation, Dennis, Dennis critical,

(02:06:11):
those are the situations that the side games. So he
needs to be there on Thursday to handle that and
also Friday to go through um raison in two minutes.
A right, why did the circle back? We kinda got
into it a little bit last hour. I know you
and Andy had discussed it earlier this morning. But Russell
Wilson and the Denver Broncos, we made that one of
the last games we were talking about a little bit

(02:06:32):
last hour. We'll get uh, get back into it perhaps
a little later this hour. But for Russell Wilson, you
have the two fumbles at the one yard line, you
moved the ball. Well, uh, this decision And look, Jason
Smith and I were on air real time, and I
was bemoaning the decision making without the stat of Russell
Wilson and his on fourth and five or whatever, just

(02:06:54):
knowing that the league average was very high nearly a
year ago, and that's situation, and that unless they hired
super toe and and I know McManus has had a
big leg. He's never been to that level right to
where we're in sixty four yards is not something the
NFL sees. Just that final sequence, the play calling, the

(02:07:15):
lack of a time out when you had those in
your pocket, all of that just seemed that the moment
suddenly got too big for everybody, and for Russell. Wilson
just left me with a lot of questions, not to
mention that other weird video of him going, come on,
let him know, runner pass runner pass, Come on, guys,
is it seemed like more Russell try too hard Wilson.

(02:07:37):
I mean, it's always that, you know, UM, but it's
one of those things. I'm fascinated by that because Nathaniel
Hackett in week one is already being tested his second
week on the job. In real term, he's already being
tested in terms of Kenny maintained the culture that he's
trying to implement. Uh, it's a players league, and it's
the league in which UM it's more of a coopera

(02:08:00):
ration than a dictatorship. And so to win at the
highest level, you have to get investment from your top
players to cooperate with you as you're building the team
in the vision in which you see it. UM built
there with Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson, this guy who has
the most sway in the locker room because he's the
franchise quarterback that they brought over. They just paid him significantly,

(02:08:21):
so when he speaks, everyone pays attention. Well, after that
first game, depending on how Russell handles not having the
ball in his hand with the game on the line,
the rest of the team is going to act up
because they're gonna look and say, well, hey, if he's
our best player, how can we didn't give it to him.
You know, it's very similar too. We didn't always have this,

(02:08:44):
but then we have this thing where the best player
has to take the shot in basketball. So if you
can imagine into the game and the ball is not
in J. Honest's hands for the Milwaukee Bucks, so it's
not a Steph Curry's hand for the Golden State Warriors,
there might be some question as to why those guys
don't get a chance to determine the outcome of the game.

(02:09:05):
They recognized as team's best players, the leaders and all that.
So you ride and die with those guys without incident.
Same thing for Russell. If you go for it on
fourth and five with Russell Russell doesn't get it, shoulder
shrugs on the sideline. We go on to the next one.
But when you take the ball out of his hands
and put it on the foot of Brandon McManus, and
McManus comes a short. Now, the first thing that you

(02:09:27):
hear on the sound that is, what are we doing?
Why don't we? And so now you worry, you worry
about them not fully trusting nothing. You're hacking now again
in real time, because every once in a while I do,
I think get something right, and I want to make
sure that I trumpeted as far and wide bucky, because
I equated it to when Aaron Rodgers left the field

(02:09:48):
when they were down eight and they kicked the field
goal against San Francisco, Like, you gotta want the ball, right,
you want to be able to take the shot, not Garrett,
and I'm sorry it was against Tampa. Right, you're not
you're not guaranteed to get the ball back and they
didn't and you and you lose. In this case, you're
banking on us. You gotta be in your coach's face

(02:10:09):
saying I ain't it's my time. I need the ball. Yeah,
it's that fine line, right, Is that fine line where
you want to be respectful, because everybody's looking at Russell
Wilson and how he handles this situation sets the tone
for how everybody else handles their own respective situations. So
I appreciate what he did. He didn't throw Nick Daniel
Hacking under the bus. Per seing to press. He said, man,

(02:10:32):
where where do we agree to it? YadA, YadA, YadA,
whether it's factual or not. He tried to be in
the same on the same page as I sayd coach,
which is possible. Uh privately, maybe say hey the coach, man,
I can rock with this. Look at look at my
history and look at my track work, and this is
what I do. I win games in the fourth quarter.
And I think for Nathaniel Hackett, after going through it all,
he'll understand that it's always players, not plays. Man, build

(02:10:57):
your trust around the best players that they will find
a way to get it done, as opposed to eight
to things that we have called in the game plan
and all that other stuff they have it. There's the
summary week one that was the end of it. Well,
we'll have to reference it here in a moment because
let's quickly get to our our first game of this
hour with the most scrutinized quarterback in all the NFL.

(02:11:20):
Seahawks at there we go Seahawks at at the nine
or seven and a half was where this started. Now
it's out to nine forty and a half to total.
Yet Gino hitting the tight ends. You get Kenneth Walker
back in some capacity alongside with Shot Penny in that
backfield for Pete Carroll Super Bowl last week. Now let's
see what they can do. Defense made a couple of

(02:11:42):
big plays with the goal line for San Francisco lost
at Chicago sloppy track. You lose your top rusher wasn't
as easy to replace this time around as Jeff Wilson.
Uh couldn't get it done after Mitchell went down Bucky
and then twelve penalties for nine yards. That's thing that
I don't think it's been brought up nearly enough. He

(02:12:02):
gave away a whole football field and bad penalties. But
for training lands, every throw scrutinized is this to get
right game? And what should be light rain up in
Santa Clara still know George Kittle and Ntuliza Mitchell. I
mean Deevo Samuel might have to carry the ball fifteen
dimes you. No, there's no doubt about that. Dievo same

(02:12:26):
is gonna have to be the number one running back
and in this game, I'm gonna eat cal Shanahan to
be at his best. Pete Carroll owns yes, yeh yeah, yeah,
a two record he has against Shanahan. They've done a
good job of understanding how to foty Nights want to
play and find a way to snuff him out. The

(02:12:46):
problem that you have is there's a midst amount of
pressure on not only trade Lands but of cal Shanahan
because if this trade of last thing blows up right
now where you don't feel good about him, you put
Jimmy Garoppolo in where does to leave the franchise When
it comes to the quarterback, they have to win. This
can take out of this week, Bucky. Next week is Denver.

(02:13:09):
Week four is the Rams. It must win, must win.
You gotta get it, you gotta get it. Can Seattle
get him? Can Gino get him? Can we be saying, Geneo?
I think here's the thing coming off that the very
emotional win on Monday Night. I expect to Seattle Seehaks
to be a little flat. I can't imagine that they

(02:13:29):
can summon it up like they did against Russell Wilson.
Because no one will say this, but it was very
personal for everybody in that lock to knock them off.
When now shorter week, you're trying to get your hit right,
you're trying to focus and lock in. I just think emotionally,
that's a lot to deal with. I've been Simpson's before
me now as a handlebyss. Yeah, Seattle didn't see you

(02:13:49):
did see a lot of metcalf and and lock it
in this game. We'll see if they can get to
them on the outside. But yeah, that emotional letdown seems
to be a huge component of what we may see
later on in Santa clar again one of the games
where weather maybe a bit of a factor, but certainly
not the slipping slide we saw in Chicago. He's Bucky Brooks.

We got tab, we got Chris Perfett, and we got
our guy, Isaac Lowen Coron at Isaac Lowenkron. If you're

(02:14:56):
still lamenting the Chargers loss of week two at Chris
Perfett Pride of Detroit, read all his work here is
voice podcast form as well. Related to today's game between
Detroit and Washington. That's one of the potential firework destinations.
That forty eight and a half business here. We got

(02:15:16):
a couple more games to get through. Bucky Uh, It's
it's been a pretty crazy morning just looking at all
the big odds, the big spreads, and trying to figure
out who's right for a letdown coming off what is
the emotional high point of a week one? He and
it's This week is a big week because most teams

(02:15:37):
improve the most from the first week to the second
week of the season because of the way that people
are treating preseason games. The regular season, the opening month
is really preseason. You're trying to sort out who's who
and west what. You're trying to figure out who your
team is. You're trying to make sild assessments as opposed
to projections that you made throughout the offseason, and then

(02:15:58):
you make decisions after that. So you assess where you are,
You assess who you have, You figure out who your
play makers, your top players are, whether the stress and
weaknesses of the team, and then how can we play
to make sure that the game is always leaning towards
us strips. When you get that figured out, that's when

(02:16:19):
your team has a lot of success. And the best
coaches are constantly evaluating and tweaking. They're they're playing their
brand to make sure the name but have success. Well,
let's get to our next game, because we've got two
teams reassessing their lives. Want a narrow miss, one where
everything could spiral a lot of control and in a hurry,
Bengals that Cowboys. Here we go. We talked about it

(02:16:42):
before it started as a one and a half point favorite.
Uh for Dallas, Dak Prescott goes down. We saw what
we did in Week one against the Bucks. Dominated in
all fashions. Still only a nineteen to three loss, but
it seemed the world's apart. Uh. And yes, I know
that's still sixteen points. It seemed much worse. But they

(02:17:02):
hung around and defense played disciplined under Quinn. Forty two
and a half is your total for Joe Burrowing Company.
And I don't even want to say this to Andy
talking about the fan base, I remember them leaving so
far stadium Bucky, and they all just seem like, oh,
that was a fun experience. Like, no, you gave away
the Super Bowl. Uh. And then you bring in an
offensive line seven sacks, Joe Burrow holding onto the ball

(02:17:26):
a ton the turnovers against the Pittsburgh Steelers, we saw
the big work from Jamaar Chase as we would expect.
Dallas is defense. Can they let them hang around again?
M hm? This will be tough for the Cowboys. They're
just shorthanded. Uh. They don't have enough firepower to be

(02:17:46):
able to play the way that they need to play
to win. You have a backup quarterback in Cooper Rush
who has won a game, won a game last uh
year against the Minnesota Vikings, but at the time he
had Amari Cooper and Cede Lamb. Now he has Ceedee
Lamb and a ass of unheralded pass catchers that are
having a tough time creating separation. He's also doing it

(02:18:06):
behind an offensive line that is trying to figure out
how to make him for the loss of Thomas Smith.
To me, that is a lot to overcome. I'm going
with the Beagles the biggest are better team. The Beagles
played poorly against the Pittsburgh Stills, is still should have won.
I think this is a week way to get back
on track. The Cowboys are a get right game for
the Beagles. Three of fifteen on third down last week

(02:18:28):
were the Cowboys In that game you mentioned when we
look at Cooper Rush, he had Cooper and Seedee Lamb
bolt over a hundred yards. That was the last Seedee
Lamb a hundred yard receiving game. That's Week eight. I mean,
that's got all the way back on Halloween. It's been
pretty scary since then. Ha ha ha ha. Zeke ten

(02:18:49):
for fifty two last week. Here's a quote from Mike
McCarthy from his press conference the other day. Bucky uh
that I wanted you to analyze for me and tell
me if things are really tearing apart at the teams,
be honest. I mean, and Kellen's time as a coordinator,
he's he's been able to play very very aggressive, you know.
And um, but you know we're we're in a we're
in a phase right now that we gotta we gotta

(02:19:10):
be a little smarter in certain situations. So I mean,
that's that's all part of growing as a play caller,
growing as a play car Yeah, smarter. I mean, because
we saw the gadgetry come out early in that game
against Tampa when you seem to even without with all
the offensive line struggles, Bucky men Ezekiel Elliott. While he's

(02:19:31):
not gonna give you big runs, they were consistently getting
that four or five yards of pop. Yeah, he was.
And I think that's the biggest struggle that I've had
with killing Moore as a play caller. He has them
things that you really love, right. I love what he's
done with Dak Prescott. I can knock the numbers when
it comes to what they've been able to do in

(02:19:52):
terms of being a number one offense and all that
other stuff. The issue that I have is sometimes I
don't think he fully understands what the strength of the
team is and how to call the game to win
the game. And so what Mike McCarthy is saying is, look,
that's a great observation. But what Mike McCarthy needs to
do as a head coach, he has to hold him accountable.

(02:20:14):
Hey man, here's I want a game to be played out.
I needed to be played this way. Period. Sometimes you
have to flex as a hey coach like that seems
like an opportunity. I know Jerry's had all of these
guys where he's kind of treated him like a son,
and they seem to get to State keep their jobs
beyond what we on the outside world would look at.

(02:20:35):
I don't. I don't know how a little much longer
Mike McCarthy has that luxury, or maybe he's feeling himself
a little bit here by poking at Kellen Moore. All right,
let's go to the next game. This one is a
curious one for me, Dolphins, said Ravens. All right, Dolphins
are a three and a half point underdog on the
road forty four and a half, Lamar Jackson saying, we'll

(02:20:55):
have that cover zero figured out this time around. J K.
Dobbins game to time decision, Stanley still out looking for
the run. Game was Kenyan Drake recently acquired and and
added to this roster that came up Bateman and DuVernay
Duverna coming in and playing a little bit of the
role of Mark the departed Marquise Hollywood Brown. But let's

(02:21:17):
base it. As much as we love talking Lamar and
his exploits were curious your thoughts on that side, certainly,
Miami and to a tongue of Bola that gets all
the tongues wagging in the larger media. You had twelve
catches for about a hundred sixty three yards and a
score between Hill and Waddle a week ago. To have
found nine different receivers, Mike Kosecki has been left on

(02:21:39):
the trash heap with just one catch for one yard.
Chase Edmonds a big role with six team touches but
for two A big test here. Baltimore secondaries banged up,
but we know that front seven can bring it. Oh Man,
this is this is a challenge. It's a challenge because
but I just remember watching how Miami gave Baltimore problems

(02:22:00):
but they cover zero and I know they can talk
about figuring it out, but the way they played it out,
the way they were able to do it, it was
just so problematic. Um, I'm believing Lamar Jackson. I'm believing
that running game. I'm gonna go with Baltimore, But man,
I don't feel great about it now. When we look
at week one, there there were a lot of tongues

(02:22:22):
wagging saying, hey, Lamar didn't look to run enough. I
I kind of shrugged to that, you know, immediately saying, oh,
he's showing up with popcorn and a milkshake. Guy has
a little fun at a press conference, but he's a
bad guy. I mean, that's that's that's him. I appreciate
him being authentic, though I do. Yeah, I know, I'm

(02:22:45):
there with you. I think people are just trying to
reach for storylines with him in week one. Come week nine,
if he's got thirty total rushes, we can talk about
it and he's uh, come up short or run out
of bounds instead of trying to extend to play that that.
I think we talk after week one get the victory
live to see another day and move on. He's Bucky

(02:23:06):
Brooks out by Carmen. Coming up next on the show
live from the tire Act dot Com studios, We'll get
into a game where well first score may win, But
first we've got Isaac lowhit Cron who has what's trending
in our sporting universe. Good morning, fellas. Let's start with
Saturday night college football and a big win for Washington
over eleventh right in Michigan State thirty nine to twenty eight.

(02:23:28):
Michael Pettox Jr. Through for ninety seven with four touchdown passes,
twenty fourth right Texas A and M over number thirteen
Miami seventeen to nine. Seventh rank to usc improved to
three and oh with a forty five seventeen win over
Fresno State Caleb Williams two touchdown passes, two touchdown runs
Number fourteen Utah over San Diego State thirty five to seven.
A t Ranks Florida held off South Florida thirty one

(02:23:51):
to twenty eight. South Florida rallied from twenty four to
ten down to take the lead in the fourth quarter.
Florida came back with Trevor a t n scoring which
proved to be a game winning three yard touchdown running
with five oh five to play, and then South Florida
botch the potential game time forty nine yard field hold
with twenty three seconds to play. Nineteen ranked Wake fours

(02:24:11):
stopped a two point conversion by Liberty to hold them
off thirty seven thirty six with one eleven to play.
Pack twelve after dark, pretty dark for Arizona State. They
lost to Eastern Michigan thirty to twenty one. Arizona came
back to beat North Dakota State thirty one to twenty eight.
Baseball Saturday Night, the Los Angeles Dodgers got their one

(02:24:31):
win of the season against just forty four losses, beating
the Giants seven to two. Julio Urius his seventeenth win
of the season, Angels over the Mariners two to one.
All show Hey oh Tani did on Saturday Night seven
scoreless innings for his thirteenth win. That at to play
his eighty nine RBI, and he also scored a run. Finally,
in boxing Saturday night, Hello Alvarez won a unanimous decision

(02:24:52):
over Gnadi Gallopkin as Alda as Alvarez retained his super
middleweight championship belt. Fellas back to you. Appreciate you at

speaking at kickoff football fans, hey be sure to tune

It's later on this morning, just twenty eight minutes from now,
three hours before kickoff. That's right. Tune in today at
ten am Eastern as we take you live all the
way to Kickoff on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio app presented by bet m g M. At

up in about well twenty seven minutes from now as
we get off air h and hand over the airwaves
to count down to kick off. As you can take
that as you're on the highways and by ways of life.
Let's get to our next game, Patriots at Steelers. All right,
this is one not expecting fireworks, but curiosity is on

(02:26:01):
both side. New England giving two and a half points,
could see pressure out to three before this goes. I'm
stealing the lexicon from the gambling experts in our community.
Fourty and a half is your total. Note T J.
Watt for the Steelers on the the injured list, will
hopefully see him sooner rather than later. But you look

(02:26:22):
at New England. Mac Jones was back at practice. He's
ready to go. He didn't see much in terms of
offensive output, but a couple of big plays made the
difference in the game. You have a fumble return for
a touchdown, you have the big play to Jail and waddle.
Otherwise it plays pretty even. And I say that only
to say that I don't know that New England's going

(02:26:44):
to be as poor as everybody wants them to be. Likewise,
Pittsburgh still did do enough to win the game. For
whatever misgivings people have about Mike Toppold squad, Yeah, my
talent is a great job. This is a great job
of just kind of figuring out how to do whatever
his need us to be done to win in a
given moment, and so his teams do that, and I

(02:27:04):
appreciate that because it's so hard to get your team
to buy in to do those kinds of things. Uh.
When I when I look at the Steelers going in
New England, though, like it's such a weird matchup because
typically New England has been a poor matchup for the Steelers.
For whatever reason. The way the Patriots play just doesn't
work stylistically against the Steelers. The issue that you have
with this version of the Patriots, I don't don't know
if they have enough weapons and fire proper to take

(02:27:26):
advantage of some of the things that they used to
take advantage of. I'm leaning towards the Steelers, but this
is just a toss up. I think this is going
to be a battle of the minds. It is Belichick
versus time and not necessarily the players on the field.
Who's the better chess master In that regard, I normally
go with Belichick. I think the Patriots somehow find a
way to win this one. Patriots, and like I said,

(02:27:46):
two and a half for the Steelers, much made about
Trabinsky and everybody looking for Kenny Pickett, one of the
big parts of all this. If you're only gonna get
ten carries twenty three yards and injury slash pain threshold
is on every note that has to be a fixed
to Nase Harris, You're gonna have some long days ahead,
Jalen Warren. The best thing Mike Tomlin said was, quote

(02:28:08):
he didn't urinate on his leg out there. That's your
assessment of your rookie backup running back, So saying that
he knows he's got some challenges ahead trying to spark
this offense going forward. Yeah, there are some challenges for sure, Um,
but it's one of those things where they can get
it done. They just gotta figure out how to do it.

(02:28:28):
Grind it out, grind it out, gotta be committed to
the ground. Sure that that is certainly, and I think
that's the case for both these squads. There's not gonna
be any runaway victories, no running and hiding. Just can
you make one more play for Pittsburgh in combing upon
that defense to find a way to get that one
extra takeover? Usually tough, tough sledding against New England. Next game,

(02:28:50):
Buccaneers at Saints. Now, we talked about this one a
little bit. We talked Tom Brady at the top of
the Wednesday news that he'll have Wednesday's off, talk about
travel and opportunity. Need to get some more of that
family time. There's still two and a half point favorites
on the road at New Orleans Brady oh and four
UH in recent history. Dennis Allen coordinator in those games,

(02:29:11):
but no Alvin Kamara mark Ingram. It's one of the
notes that he will be available. Well, clearly not the
same guy out of the backfield. And we watched Atlanta
do pretty much what they wanted to with Cordarrell Patterson
and company coming off to jump last week before New Orleans.
UH had the smelling salts and woke up down the

(02:29:32):
stretch bucky for for Tampa. I think you just ride
Leonard four Nett as far as he can take you. Yeah.
I think, Tampa, that's what you have to do. I
think you want to make this very simple. I think
this is when we want to lean on your defense. Uh.
Tyble was as a head coach, as a defensive Monday
head coach. He understands when the defense has it going.
I think you had to hey man, this has to

(02:29:53):
be a defensive game. So let's just take care of
the ball. We'll punt. We need to punt. We'll take
advantage of the opportunities when they come up, but we
just want to make sure that you don't mess this up.
So give me the bucks. I'm all with it. I'm
with you. Is this an opportunity? On the New Orleans side,
we saw four carries eight one yard some Gadgetry former
quarterback now tight end slash running back Taysom Hill sees

(02:30:14):
more touches. I don't know. I mean, I mean, I
think you make them in there. But let's be honest, man.
In New Orleans. Saints are good enough that even with
Al Kamar, they present a ton of problems. I don't
think you have to be cute to get this win.
If you're them. Uh, this is about keeping it simple, Uh,
making sure that you sound, making sure that Michael Thomas,
Jarvis Landry, they get enough touches, established themselves in the

(02:30:36):
passing game, and then maybe Chris o'libby hits you over
the top with a big play. The Saints are good, man,
And the only reason I'm going with the Bucks is
because at some point they got to figure out the thing.
Because the Saints have been able to own them in
the Tom Brady air, I just think somehow Tom Brady
finds a way to figure it out. Well, different regime,
different quarterback in New Orleans. Now it's up to Jamis

(02:30:58):
Winston to take care of the football. Uh. One thing
we did talk about quite a bit last week was
the return of Michael Thomas. Two touchdowns, five catches, fifty
seven yards. The guy that just makes plays, goes out
and snatches it. Uh, and you think you've got him covered. Well,
Jamis I think learned very quickly. Hey I could just

(02:31:19):
put it there and he's gonna find it. Yeah. Absolutely,
And that's the thing, man, He's a huge weapon. Uh.
Maybe we forgot how good Michael Thomas was. Well. He
had been missing a while, you know, and he just
kind of reminded us like, hey, guys, I'm here, I'm
still nice, and yeah, it's a problem. He's a great player. Yeah,
missing all that time, and then all of the reports

(02:31:41):
all off season that he was still battling injury, and
so coming into Week one, it was seemingly, at least
from my end, if he's sound, we know what he was.
But it's a lot of wishing and wanting and hoping
after that much inactivity and being away from the game
that you'd be able to step right back in. Yeah,
I mean it was a lot of that was a
lot of unknown, and he he looked great coming back.

(02:32:02):
Jarvis Landry looked great because I wonder if Jarvis was
gonna have his fastball, because we had seen that. We
just see that at the end of his tenure in Cleveland. Well,
he comes back, he makes plays. It just gives him
another weapon. And defensively, they're gonna make plays, they're gonna
create turnovers, they're gonna give the ball to the office
and favorable positions and that's by the office being able
to cash it. It's funny you mentioned Cleveland. That's a

(02:32:23):
common denominator when you look at Jarvis Landry and Odell
Beckham Jr. Now will await his recovery and where he
ultimately signs. I know, the Bills and von Miller keep
courting him. But it's funny because Landry, for a good
chunk of that that time that they were together, was
at least to my eyes, the better, more consistent receiver.
O'Dell had the spectacular and part of that was whatever

(02:32:44):
disconnect was going on with Baker. But it's curious that
you just have two receivers that are so dominant and
phases where it fizzled so badly at the end. Yeah, man,
it's it's it's weird because leadership is everything, connectivity and
chemistry is everything, and for whatever reason, they didn't have
it with Baker, But I don't know they have it
going there in their new spots. I mean even though

(02:33:06):
Odeo Beckham Jr. Is a free agent. We saw him
have it in the l a last time we saw
him on the field. But yeah, this is different. Man.
It is so funny how the position to quarterback position
may not necessarily be about your talent. It may be
about your communication skills and your ability to get along
with everybody. Runner pass, runner pass. See what I did there.

Curious your thoughts on this one? Vikings said, Eagles. All right,
so we've got the Eagles a narrow two point favorite,
fifty and a half year told. We talked about it

(02:35:42):
a little bit last hour, Bucky, but to flesh it
out a little. Kevin O'Connell a lot of praise coming
out a week one, Kirk Cousins clearly finding justin Jefferson
and finding a lot of space to operate in what
is expected to be one of the league's best secondaries
or back seven, I guess. For the Green Bay Packers, JayR.
Alexander called for Jefferson and what we saw in a

(02:36:05):
couple of spots. Yeah, maybe that's not the wisest thing,
uh to get once you get into space, But either way,
you move forward, cook at a quiet ninety yards as
they take down the Packers. Week one for the Eagles,
it was all about the run game. Over two hundred
total yards. Four different players with rushing touchdowns had a
huge rushing total out of Jalen Hurts. And that was

(02:36:27):
the stat that I brought up last hour. I do
it again here. I don't know that that's a ratio.
I'm feeling comfortable with long term seventeen carries versus eighteen completions.
I don't worry. Rather, I think when you're coaching or whatever, man,
a player is who he is, and I think you
have to play to his strips. And Jaden hurt stress
right now as a young player is his ability to

(02:36:48):
make plays as a dual three quarterback. He is completely
transformed the Eagles running game. They are a dominant and
I mean dominant rushing team, and so when you can
run the football way that they can run the football,
it makes the passing games so much easier. And so
they have to continue to buy in to how Jalen
Hurst performs. And I think you want him to grow

(02:37:10):
and develop and eventually become a guy that is a
little more balanced in terms of his skill set. But
right there, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. No. Sure,
it's more just from the passing game. You had A J.
Brown who had his big game and look you you
went out and you you put up thirty eight points.
Hardly a spot to criticize. It's more of the we're
we're talking fine tuning going forward. A J. Brown had

(02:37:31):
his big day. Goddard had three catches and then the
other five receptions told twenty eight yards for the running
backs and then one to another tight end. It's more
just getting Devonte Smith and some of the other wide
receivers involved. But I guess it's an evolution of a squad,
but just one thing to watch out of this team.

(02:37:51):
It is one thing to watch, but it's is his
evolution as a playmaker combined with the settling of the
roles on the perimeter to Smith A J. Brown, how
quickly can they get together as a nice one to
punch uh Dallas got to being able to control the
middle of field. But really the key to the Eagle
success will be their defense. John than Ganna defensive coordinated,

(02:38:14):
has got this defense playing much differently than they've ever
played defense in Philadelphia, meaning, instead of always being relentless
with the aggressiveness and the blitzing, they sit back, They
keep the ball in front, they red react, they have
zone corners, and they do a good job in their
own scheme. Different but still effective. The Eagles are a
tough team. I can't wait to see the versus Minnesota.

(02:38:35):
I think we have one of these teams is really
going to emerge as a real contender. Now we got
Kirk Consins too and nine Monday Night Football. He's got
Justin Jefferson, no question about it. Uh Dalvin Cook again
four point five yards and carry got to ninety yards.
But in the receiving game, is there another threat because
Adam DeLand doesn't look like the same guy we remember,

(02:38:57):
No he's not. He's not the same guy, but he's
he's a active as being the compliment, they have kJ Osborne,
they have some other guys that rotate in there. Their
wide receiver coach Keena mccardeal, one of my former teammates
down in Jacksonville, does a great job of developing UH
young white receivers. UH. The big thing is the system
creates so many opportunities that you only need one alpha.

(02:39:18):
That alpha is justin Jefferson. The rest of those guys
will eat off of his success um. But when you're
looking at the game, just pay attention to the Minnesota
Vikings pre snap movement. Kevin O'Connell has taken that from
the Rams. He's brought that. Motions, double motions, pre snap shifts,
all of that designed to kind of get you out

(02:39:39):
of sorts. They do it. They do it better than
anybody that you mentioned. J j Osborne. He was one
of the ninjas of the week. So I got to
sing on the wings of love anytime I could get
Jeffrey Osborne and we're in, Oh look at you, hey man.
I got a deep reservoir of songs in my heart.
Last I just wanted to circle to it real quick.
We talked about, uh, the giant sa Kwan, Barkley, Brian

(02:40:03):
Dable going for two, you know, just the trust in
his squad and what we saw week one Carolina Matt Rule,
a guy that we're questioning how long he is for
the job. I mean, Baker plays well for a stretch
and the headlines in Carolina are like, are they really
willing to go with him? Hold on? They still lost?

(02:40:26):
Like what are we doing here? Yeah, desperate man, desperate
four quarterbacks. So if any little hit or flash of
France des quarterback potential, they eat it up. So that's
what they were doing. They're eating it up because he
had an opportunity to bring the scene back. He brought
him back, and then if not for late field goal,
he would have got his first win. Talking about some

(02:40:48):
penalty calls as well. All right, is dable getting them
to two? And oh? Can we talk about the g
men at two? And oh, I'll be surprised if they
get to two? And oh, I'd be supprised. You gotta
be the Panthers. There you go. Alright, countdown to kick off,
presented by bet MGM. Coming up in just five minutes
here on Fox Sports Radio. Bucky, have a wonderful Week two.
It was a blast. Thanks for listening on Fox
