(00:45):
That was very Uh what what was the logic behind that?
From your parents? And we'll go over to another time.
I love that website though, because I told you I
love up here in Vermont, So I gotta go search tires.
I got three suv s, so you know, I gotta
go ahead and get the right tios. Three s u v's.
What are you a rapper? What are you? May weather?
How many cars you need up there, big boy, I
need a lot, man. I did a whole bunch. Man.

(01:07):
How you doing everything good? Good? Everything's good, man, No
snow up here. We're doing well. We're gonna have some
next week, but otherwise good to go. A lot of
college football. Looking forward to the NFL tomorrow by Dolphins
taking on the San Francisco forty Niners. That that should
be an easy win and a little controversy. And by
the way, I like per Due. Let me get this

(01:27):
off out of the way. I think Perdue, we'll pull
off the upset. I like the way they were showing
the Michigan fans just mugging for the camera. Look at me,
look at me. I'm like, yeah, look at me, look
at me. Choke uh as we're losing our winning to produce.
So I want to see what happens in the second half.
I like for doing this one well. As you just said,
and as the saker said, Michigan is up fourteen thirteen

(01:48):
at the half. But the story there I Produe is
out gaining Michigan two two yards to one thirty five.
Michigan once again struggling to run the ball. Let me
say this, are any really quick we'll get to the
number four conversation minutes. But you know, Michigan, I think
we all kind of feel like, based off the win
off Ohio State they are in. But I think there
was a faction of people that thought, hey, maybe you know,

(02:09):
George has had some down weeks here and there. Maybe
this is the year where Michigan really does have the
team that's good enough. I heard VJ. Husky say it
on the previous show. You make the playoff last year,
you beat Ohio State. Now it's time to take it
to the next level. I gotta be honest, man. You know,
the last probably eight or so quarters without Blake corm
I know they got hot laid against Ohio State. They

(02:30):
struggled to move the ball against Illinois, they struggled the ball,
to move the ball in the first half against against
Ohio State last week before opening things up, and they
struggled again. Uh, they're struggling right now. Are you worried
about this Michigan team if and when they get into
the playoff to move the ball? Well, first of all,
I'm not judging them based on the last eight quarters.
And second of all, I I don't Why wouldn't you

(02:51):
why wouldn't you judge them off the last eight quarters? Okay,
well I'll tell you this. I don't know what game
you were watching, but I saw five plays of over
on what thirty yards something like that for touchdowns. I mean,
they were going crazy against the top ranked defense. That
wasn't that was a Tarlenton State out there for crying
out loud that TCU likes the schedule. That was there
was a real defense out there. Now, yeah, they're struggling

(03:12):
against Purdue, but as we knew before the game, but
there's a damn good team. Um, they've just had a
little bit of bad luck. But I mean you can
tell right off the first game of the year. I
think they were when they were playing Penn State that
they're damn good teams. So this was not going to
be easy by no means. But it really doesn't make
it different. I guess this only if Michigan loses, it
makes the limit if they're gonna be a number two

(03:33):
seed or a number three seed. I don't even think
they're gonna drop down the number four. So I really
just think this game is is kind of meaningless. To
be honest with you, By the way, not to change
gears already. But Nick Saban right now on on the
Fox halftime show politicking for Alabama. Arny, so let's get
right into I don't know we could get back to Michigan.

(03:54):
We got the next two and a half hours and
half time. But if Nick Saban is coming on the
Fox Sports broadcast, that means Arnie he is a nervous, nervous,
nervous man TCU. By now, everybody knows they lost in
overtime to Kansas State in the Big Twelve title game.
As I just said, we think Michigan is in, We
know that Georgia is in, and it seems as though

(04:18):
most people think Ohio State will be in. First of all,
do you agree those three Ohio State as a non
Big ten champ? Are they definitively in the field right now?
I have Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, And even if Michigan
loses this game, I probably have them in. So it's
not gonna make much of a difference if they're gonna
be a two seed or a three seed. But you're right,
I think the big question is comes who's gonna be

(04:39):
the number four seed? Is it gonna be Alabama or
is it gonna go ahead and b b TCU. That
was a trocial sauce by TCU today. By the way,
it was an atrocious loss in overtime to a top
ten team. It was atrocious. The first little Kansas State
is um, you know, they're not like they're the world
If you don't know, if you're gonna start telling me
how great there are they are, and then I'm gonna

(05:01):
bring up how um Alabama lost at Tennessee, who was
like number six of the country right now. Uh, and
and I lost the l s U both on the
last places of the game. So the stuff with the
Bologni there State. If you're arguing that Kansas State is
a bad loss for tc you have to argue that
l s US a bad LSU lost by thirty today

(05:21):
and they lost on the road to a five and
seven Texas A and one team last year. Yeah, MAT's
not just strong suit. I think they was by twenty,
but that that's okay. Um, it's uh. Look, it wasn't
a great game. It wasn't one of their better games.
I'm not gonna argue with that. L s U was
not a great team. But still, um, you know, when
when they played Alabama. I think they were right number ten,
So don't act like there was some slouch and it

(05:43):
was on the road and it was the last player
of the game. Alabama did have injuries at quarterbacks, so
they're different team and mean injuries. He was on the field.
He was on the field, but he wasn't a hundred
percent and Nick sabans young, was it not? That's that's
Nick Saban is gonna go ahead and Stelli's about in fact,
that's think for eight yards again, he's saying it's a

(06:07):
different team now now that everybody's got to go ahead
and rest up and and and you know, be healthy,
and um, that's what he's politics. I'm just telling you
what he said. If you have a problem with Nick Saban,
go ahead and go after him. I think Alabama is
deserving of the number four seed. I think losing to
two teams like that that were number six and number
ten on the road on the last play should not
disqualify you. Um, look, TCU is not better than Alabama.

(06:31):
Say why do you say that? Because because they have
a because because Alabama has a ten year track record,
even though they're not good this year. So if we're
gonna go then we can go by who. Let's go,
let's go answer the question, because one day would be
favored in the game. So mathematically, Scio State was favored
at by the way Alabama was favored against Tennessee were

(06:55):
they not? But Alabama was favored by two touchdowns against
LSU where they're not. So that's already a So there's
no there's no way to prove it. The less they
play on the field, then I mean, I'm just telling
you mathematically, um, I think I think Alabama is better
than TCU. Also, remember now this is not strictly who
are we sending the best four teams out there? Are
we just sending the most deserving fourth teams out there?

(07:18):
Let's be honest. So here's my question. Okay, so we
we agree on the first three. We agree Georgia, Michigan,
Ohio State. Why why is Alabama the fourth? Why why
is Alabama the fourth? Because to me, I look at them,
and here's what I see. I see a team. Then
in the two biggest games of their season they lost.

(07:40):
By the way, you can't even tell me that Tennessee
and l S you were that good because they both
got destroyed by Georgia. So you can't tell me that
those two teams were great. By the way, l s U,
who they lost to as a four lost team, Tennessee
lost as Tennessee lost a country, Tennessee lost as a
twenty one. Well, Kansas State is gonna be top six,
top seven by by by Monday or Tuesday. But the

(08:00):
next time the poll comes out. So if you're here's
the thing. There are years where Alabama is not the
SEC champ and you can make the argument, I don't
know what the argument is that their top four team.
It's the only reason you're telling me there a top
four team is because they have a script A on
their helmet. Because here's what the play harder. They played
a harder conferences, not only a harder conference, and every

(08:22):
matter three times a harder conference. They don't play in
that Bologna conference. Wait a second. If that's your argument,
If that's your argument, then let me ask you this.
Alabama played to Texas, they won by one. Texas is
in the Big twelve. TCU play Texas at Texas. They

(08:43):
won by a touchdown. So even by your awful argument
that the Big twelve is bad, Alabama was inferior against
the one common opponent, So how can you tell how
can you tell the better? Yeah, but they didn't play
the best team. They didn't. Are you saying that the SC,
that the Big twelve is than the SEC? Right? That's
what Jim saying that once you get past Georgia, there

(09:05):
is an argument that there's not a lot of talent
in the SEC, the SEC. I mean, we're talking about
an L s U team that has four losses, an
LSU team that lost to a five and seven A
and M team last week? That did you say? Can't
you say that? It just shows that there's UM so
much parody in the SEC. I mean, look at the
Pact twelve, the parody when you're bad. They had five
teams or six teams in the top twenty five, yet

(09:26):
nobody gave them credits. The top conference UM in the nation.
Everybody still says it's the SEC. I think the SEC
is the best conference. I'm not gonna argue with you
on that. What I would argue though, is against the
top competition the SEC, Alabama lost its games, So I
don't think you can you can use the SEC being
the best conference to explain why Alabama is good when

(09:47):
they lost every meaningful game in conference. Oh, you don't
really have an answer, do you say every meaningful game
because they played the top games were on the road
to Tennessee. That what about the Old Miss game? Old
MS was rank number eleven. They won that game but
finished four? Yeah, continue finished game. I didn't hear that
finished finish four. They were like, but what difference that

(10:09):
they were still right to number eleven. You're the one
doing the rankings out there. They want at Arkansas. A
lot of their tough games were on the road. They
won at all and they did Georgie six and six.
They were number argument they Okay, the argument is they played.
My argument is they play in the SEC. Let's have
this argument there. Because TCU wonted Kansas when Kansas was

(10:32):
ranked that was you should be embarrassed if that's your argument,
that Kansas Arkansas, what are you talking about? You're talking
about Arkansas who lost to Liberty, who lost to Ukon
by the way, no big deal. Arizona has how many
wins like that? So if your argument is teams that
were ranked when they played him, well, TCU beat Kansas
when they were ranked. TCU beat Oklahoma State when they

(10:54):
were ranked. TCU beat Kansas State when they were rank
TCU beat Texas when they ranked that's more ranked wins
in Alabama. But we did find that would they be
at Oklahoma. Oklahoma is a dog team, So let's be honest.
The misbody points with that. And now you're gonna tell
me your best win is Kansas and Kansas State. You
know I gotta on that. No, no, no, I said
their best win is against Texas, the same best the
same best win that Bama has. Who's Bama's best win?

(11:17):
It's Texas, the same best win that Case State has.
In case, I could say, oh Miss is their best
win on the road at number eleven at the time,
I mean they finished eight in four, Texas is ahead
of them. Now, if you're talking about who is the
best going back, we're going by rankings. So okay, So
then in that case, Oklahoma was a great win then
too because they were ranked at number dog team. Come on, Artie,

(11:40):
I'm using your arguments. Your argument is we have to
judge teams based on where they were ranked when they
played them. Yeah, but we know that Oklahoma was a
dog team. Let's do a little common sense in there,
all right, Let's let's create let's game, let's create her
own formula instead of using the old, antiquated one that
really doesn't really make any sense. Did you see that? Like,
can I just say something? Did you see the committee?

(12:02):
Did you see the committee? I don't know what did
I What do you mean? There was a picture of
the committee on Twitter, the football committee that picks the
first four, sitting there like a like a lump doing nothing.
No laptops, no notes. Have you ever seen the n
C double A one? They got notes like uh like
ten Encyclopedia's high laptops going through stuff. And this team

(12:24):
and that team they got nothing. They're sitting there going
win's dinner, there, wins lunch. There's not doing anything out
there because they know Alabama has no argument. They know
who the four is. By the way, that that great
old Miss Win that you've been touting NonStop, Old Miss
finished the season unranked. Fox Sports Radio er towards Jason
Martin is out, Arnie Spaniard is in. I should mention,

gonna be the number one Bama homer will join us. Next.
That's Ryan Fowler, tied one point nine. I don't even
think he believes in Alabama as much as you do.
We'll discuss all of this with Ryan Fowler. Next, Aaron Torres,
Arnie Spanier, and for Jason Martin Fox Sports. Fox Sports

Arnie Spaniard broadcasting live from the Tirec dot Com studios.
Before we get to Ryan Fowler, we do have late
breaking news. Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports is reporting Dion
Sanders just told his players that he's leaving Jackson State
to become the new head coach at Colorado. Late breaking news,

(14:33):
Arnie Spanier, I'll tell you what. We'll discuss that after
we get to right broke? Is that who broke the
story was? I see like a million people are taking
credit for that for that story. Bruce Felton works for Fox,
and I can't credit I can't credit you, even though
you're the one that tipped me off to it. So
I mean I can, but I'm not gonna give you
that kind of credit. So I'll tell you what. We'll
get to Dion in a moment, but before we do,

(14:53):
let's get to the phones. Joining us now. You can
hear him Monday through Friday two to six Eastern Time
on Tied one point nine. He was the biggest Bama
homer until the first segment of today's show when I
worked with Arnie Spanier. Ryan Fowler's on the phone, right,
what's going on? Man, I'm just sitting here talking with
Nick and we're trying to get things what I'm supposed

(15:14):
to tell you guys? Uh? And I think he's good.
Can you get him on the show later because he
seems to be doing literally every media availability possible. Will
you come home with Arnie and Aaron? He's doing everything else?
I think the BBC. No, no, no, no. He just
told me, he said you've been trashed his team on Twitter.

(15:35):
He's not coming on with you, but he would come
on with Arnie. There you go, There you go, and
maybe maybe ask your right off the bat, do you
think forget about if they get and do you think
they deserve to get it? And let me see where
you say on that. Okay, let let me let me
try to take the case. Okay, I've watched this team.
Aaron knows. I've been very frustra over this team, and

(15:56):
some of the frustrations have been because of the offenses
out of the football when you find out that Bryce
Young and listen, he went from the Arkansas week to
just here recently with limited practice. Okay, and I think
this should be the case. Bryce Young healthy at a
hundred percent. You know, he's the best player in college football.

(16:18):
I mean, I mean, he just is. But he has played.
And credit to him because he could have shut it
down and said, guys, I'm gonna get ready for the NFL.
Him him not going through practice. There was four weeks
that I knew of that he never threw a ball
in practice, never threw one football. He literally just went
out and kind of ran the offense and without throwing

(16:40):
the football, they would have another quarterback that would throw
the ball to the wide receiver, um Brice Young healthy,
Alabama's a different football team, and I think we we've
had a chance to see some of that the last
couple of weeks. Austin pe was nobody. I mean, but
you got a chance to watch him for the football
and then Auburn, you've got a chance to watch Bryce
Young look like Bryce Shawn. To me, the question should

(17:03):
be asked if you went to Kirby Smart and you say,
Kirby Smart, who do you not want to play. Who
do you think they would choose? So we're we aiming
for the best four teams? Well, where Ryan? Real quick,
real quick, real quick? Here's my thing? And I just
said this to Arnie. What has Alabama? And don't give

(17:24):
me injuries? Because Henn and Hooker got hurt in South
Carolina when the game in theory could have been one.
Blake Coreham is injured, so don't give me injuries. What
have we seen on the field that makes you believe
that Alabama is one of the four best teams? That
we have recruiting rankings that say they're great, we have
the Vegas odds that say they'd be favored against everybody.
But guess what. Ohio State was favored by a touchdown
last week? Alabama was favored by two touchdowns against LSU.

(17:47):
What have we actually seen that makes like that should
make us believe that Alabama was one of the best
four because anyone can say that Gary Gary Davis al
Ojo State. They played home and got absolutely destroyed. I
mean that was at home. Alabama played five games on
the road this year Power five Top twenty five teams.

(18:10):
They lost to two of them. What ims in the
top five when I was in the top ten when
they played by four points, so total four points. So
if you're trying to look and you're saying the best
of the best, I was saying, you're watching TCU today,
and I was just sitting there thinking what would they
do with Alabama schedule? Regardless if you want to say
the opponents and listen, Alabama does not have the resume

(18:31):
that it is previously half. But they did go to Austin,
a team is now ranked in the top twenty five,
beat them by one point. Yeah, I mean that's not impressive. Uh,
but but you look, Yeah, I think it's the body
of work. And I think the listen. As much as
we want to pretend about college football playoff, it's always
about months. And if you put TCU in there in Georgia,

(18:55):
that thing would be over in the first quarter. So
the ratings would what's to say, real quick, real quick,
Ryan though, Alabama lost to Tennessee, Alabama lost to LSU,
Alabama lost to l s U, l s You got
destroyed by Alabama. Alabama lost l s U, LSU got

(19:16):
destroyed by Georgia. Tennessee got destroyed Like like there's this
theory of like, I keep hearing this argument, Well, you know,
I mean tc would get destroyed by Georgia. Who's to say, Alablack, Like,
what do we have, what proof do we have that
Alabama when you get destroyed by Georgia. Because all the
Timeabama doesn't get destroyed. I mean, Alabama generally does not
get destroyed. And I think that's the big thing is
you could trust Alabama. You can trust them to show

(19:36):
they may not win the entire They haven't a game
for two years, Ryan, they haven't shown up for a
big game for two years. Okay, look look at the
Tennessee game. To me, when I was sitting there watching,
I thought to the sea was fixed to give Nick
Saban the worst whipping he has ever taken. If you
watch that game, Alabama byo back and maybe a close,

(19:59):
close game right there at the end. So to me, Alabama,
And one of the other things is people love to
share when Alabama is losing, the radies would be through
the root. Uh And and remember it's all about money.
When you look at TCU. I'm not here to criticize them,
but I just I look at talent level and I'm

(20:20):
sitting there going it's just not the same. It's not
the same. I mean it's I was watching Kansas State
uh TC, and I'm thinking, man, I don't know if
any of those dudes would on defense would play over here.
Now listen, Alabama's underachieving. Man. I'm first one, Uh, I
think there needs to be some changes on. But there's

(20:41):
a different standard in Tuscaloosa. Two. I mean, we are
goal in tuscaloosas to win a national title every single year,
and when they don't reach that, there's criticism that comes.
So yeah, Alabama takes a lot of criticism. But I
think when you look at this team, are they one
of the best four teams? I mean we we were
told that they were gonna select the four best teams regardless.

(21:04):
You've got two blemishes. Now listen, if Perdue uh place
Michigan tuck, don't you think that hurts ohio stats resume?
A little bitten blew them out? I mean, but but
you could also say Georgia feeding l s U kind
of hurts Alabama's resume, So it kind of. I mean,
this thing's a bass that this year is just a

(21:24):
weird year. Um. So that's why the committees, to me,
he used to look back and say, hey, the best
four teams. Put a coach on there. Put a coach
on there and ask him and say, who would you
not like to play? What? Did the coach also say
that results on the field matter? Ryan? They do? Sure?
Do you think they'll make it in? Do you think out?

(21:44):
Do you think Alabama will make it in? I don't know.
I don't know. I would not I would not trust
them because listen, I've not been able to trust in silability.
And that's why when I watched them play against Auburn UM,
I thought, Okay, maybe this is the old Brice Young.

(22:06):
They hindered some of the development. And I still don't
think he's a hunter person. I still think that if
you gave him a couple of weeks to prepare that
you would see a different Brice Shan, maybe a Brace Young.
In the playoffs, I have a chance to upset somebody
that he's not supposed to. Listen, you can make the
argument that Alabama doesn't deserve to be in and I
think people could make a fair argument that this team,

(22:27):
the team does not look like an Alabama team. This
is one of the most penalized teams in college football.
They make date a lot of self inflected in the stakes.
I'm right there with you. Um, I think that's why
there needs to be changes at multiple coaching positions here
in Suskaloosa. But I think if you're trying to argue
with what I've seen today sitting there watching TCU guys, guys, guys,

(22:52):
and I hope we're not gonna do this with his
twelve team playoff and we're just gonna give these things
out as automatic qualifier because think about Kansas Do you
think he deserves more than Kansas State? But if we
have automatic qualifiers, Kansas State would be in Ryan really quick.
You mentioned, um, you know, changes that have to be made,

(23:14):
And this is one of the reasons that Arnie of
and Arnie and I have argued about this for years
about the expanded playoffs. I don't want it because Alabama's
goal isn't to be in at number seven. Their goals
to win the national championships. So independent of the twelve
team playoff whatever, Um, what has to change in Alabama
Because we can sit here and argue should they be
number five or they one of the best four, Should
they be number four, they one of the best four,

(23:35):
whatever they have not lived up to the standard that
has been set at Alabama for the last decade and
a half. What do you believe has to change in
this offseason to get Alabama where Nick Saban isn't politicking
on BBC and uh, you know Fox Sports and MSNBC.
He's just sitting there at home on Saturday night enjoying
an SEC championship and no when he's in the playoff. Yeah,

(23:56):
and so I look at Alabama and I think about
save it over correcting. Um, he lost about twenty guys
in the transfer portal. I think he tried to be
nicer Nick Saban, and I don't think that system works.
I think he was too soft on this team. And
I think he created a soft team. I mean, uh,
this team is as soft as a baby's butt. I

(24:17):
mean they're I mean, I mean they are not mentally strong.
And but now you know, we've seen a little bit
of change going into it. Um, you know we've heard
the word anxiety multiple multiple times. I just think, well, listen,
if if if Ohio States beats Michigan and you know,
TCU beats Kansas State and we're not having this conversation.

(24:39):
I just think that with everything that's happened. You You
have to go back to the original four teams, the
best four. That's what Bill Hancock. He's told me over
and over and over on my ship. Was it truly
the best four teams? And I think they got like
one coach. I think that that like Jim Grove on
there and from where force that's it. It's I gotta

(25:03):
it's a joke. I was going through the bios. I'm
embarrassed to say I didn't know this boy. Some people
have nothing to do with football at all. That's like
one guy works in an energy company or something like.
I don't know why I'm not on this list. It's disgusting. Well,
and if you really want to know, go to Vegas
and put the odds makers on. But don't put the

(25:25):
odds makers on the committee we had. This is I
might have to let you guys take over. I don't
know if I could do. Some guy who's group president
and utility Operations for energy corporation, why, I mean, here's
my counter to that. When in college football I think
of that guy, of course, Well, here's here's my counter
that ran. We're not gonna keep you on too much longer.

(25:45):
But here's my counter. I could do another segment. I
could do another segment. I mean, I got plenty of material.
You've got plenty of time because Maam is not playing
tonight and they're they're not playing until the Sugar Bowl.
But he's not left the basketball game where I could
come and do this with you. Guys. The fact that
you were at the basketball game tonight tells you the
state of Alabama football. That's not I mean, is that wrong? Right?
That's not an insult, it's just a fact. You should

(26:06):
be in Atlanta celebrating an SEC title. I can't believe
the the way the odds. I just want to say,
the odds five to one for Alabama, with the whole
thing fourteen to one for TCU. So that's get it.
Get it. Get a handicap for all. Question, Get a
handicap for all, and ask him if TCU played Alabama

(26:30):
on a neutral field, who would be the favorite? And
we'll go home. Well, that's your arguments. I would tell
you that, speaking of going home, I'd be in the
Caribbean right now if I bet against Alabama every time
they were a favorite. This year, l s U double
digit favorite, Tennessee double digit fire touchdown plus favorite. So
I didn't have a healthy Brian Shawn though. That's the
thing I'm telling you thank about a quarterback. I mean,

(26:51):
there's a reason why Tom Brady practices. Did they have
a healthy quarterback against Texas? At one point when when
they're starting quarterback gets her like we could do this
game all day. It's just I love you, Ryan, buddy.
I think you're like a little dog with your tail
between You're like you're trying so hard to make you
I don't do you really believe your argument or no,
do you really believe Alabama is one of the best four?
Are you just making the argument for the sake of it? No?

(27:14):
I think Alabama I think they can make a case,
But I think you can make a case against them.
I mean, listen, I get it. I mean when you
say that they haven't played anybody or they haven't beat you,
like they're they're big win is probably like Texas MISSISIPI
state no miss in fairness with what you play in
the SEC. Okay, flip it around, tc you come play

(27:36):
in Alabama schedule, Alabama goes and play TCU sch it's
not even closed. So they Oklahoma and Texas are coming
to the Big Boy League. They're getting called up from
the miners to the majors. We're not going out there,
They're coming here. So when you look at TC, you hey,

(27:59):
if you want to beat down on it, but how
do you know that will be New Year's Day so
we'll be able to go out and party it because
it will be over quickly. I mean it'll be first
quarter room and I'll put listen. I will make a
bet with you guys right down. I don't care what
you want me to do. I'll host your show. I'll
mow the grass, I'll clean the yard. If TC you
place Georgia, if it's so one against a four, if

(28:22):
they don't beat them by twenty eight points or more,
I'll do whatever you guys need me to do. It
would get ugly. I would actually take that bet. We
do have to let you go. And I would add
by saying this, we still have If the argument is
Georgia would destroy X team, we still have no no,
no validation that Georgia want to destroy Alabama who got

(28:45):
who lost to Tennessee and l s U that got
destroyed by Georgia. Ryan, We appreciate your time, man like
you said, you got a busy Saturday night Alabama basketball,
awesome day, awesome day man and roll Tide, Roll Tid baby.
People decide who goes well, I'll tell you what. We'll
come back. We'll discuss this and of course the late

(29:06):
breaking coach at Carousel News. I think to Sagre, you know,
to Sea, I ask you every week around this time.
First of all, it's very nice of Arnie to not
give you the time I ask you what's trending. I
didn't ask for it off until I found out Arnie
was going on. There is a lot trending right now.
Go ahead to Sea. It's official that coach Prime is
going to Colorado. By the way, Colorado has announced that

(29:27):
Dion Sanders is their next head coach. For the moment, Michigan,
ranked number two, is leading produce thirteen early third quarter
of the Big Ten Championship game. By the way, Stuart Mandel,
who runs the Athletic, noted that Nick Saban as this
was a great debate. You guys said that was a
good segment. Nick Saban arguing that hey, who would be favored?

(29:48):
And he said In response, he wrote, Mandell, if Vegas
betting lines were a committee criteria, Well, Alabama, Georgia, and
Ohio State would be guaranteed three of the four bids
every year regard list of resume because Alabama is probably twelve.
And oh, if you go, then whose favorite in their game?
They were double two touchdown favorite plus against l s U.

(30:09):
And so like that's why this whole argument about well
who would be favorite on a neutral field? It's like
we don't do that in the NFL. Like nobody's sitting
here saying, well, you know, I mean Matthew Stafford's hurt,
but I mean if the Rams were on a neutral field, like,
it's just it's good. If you argue Alabama las two
very close games, then you also have to mention that
there one point we win at Texas came because the
safety on Bryce Young was not called. If you argue

(30:31):
that these opponents of ours were ranked at the time,
well then you have to say t c O went
five and oh hou to honest, yeah, you should have said.
That's been my problem all week is the Alabama fans
keep changing the air. Well, we have a couple of
close losses. Well guess what not TCU as a close loss, Well,
it's the best four. Well what proof do we have

(30:51):
that you're one of the four best because you have
a script day on the side of your or Well,
they were ranked at the time TCU regular season five
and oh against teams that were ranked at the time.
And if you want to say, hey, they should play
Alabama schedule, that means they would have played Austin p
and U L. Monroe this year, and next year Alabama
is playing Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee, And the next year
Alabama is playing Mercer and Western Kentucky, and the next

(31:14):
year it's Eastern Illinois and U. L. Monroe, on and
on and on. To the college football at hand. It
is with about ten and a half minutes to go
in the third quarter the Big Ten Championship game on
Fox TV. Number two ranked Michigan had a halftime lead
of fourteen thirteen against Perdue. It is now thirteen as
the Wolverines just scored. And yes, Michigan running back Blake

(31:36):
Corum is out for the season. He's had his knee surgery.
He missed most of last week's game to win against
Ohio State. And we've just had a score and a
two point run for number nine rank Clemson in the
a C C Title game in Charlotte. It's Clemson leading
North Carolina thirty two to ten with about five minutes
to go in the third quarter and early quarterback switch.

(31:56):
Has to say the least worked for the Clemson Tigers
tonight because Cade club Nick, the quarterback for Clemson off
the bench, is eleven of twelve passing for a hundred
fifty six yards and a t d Earlier. Number one
Georgia State undefeated, ripping l s U in Atlanta. It
was thirty five seven just before halftime, Bulldog fifty to

(32:18):
thirty the final to win the SEC the Big Twelve
Championship game win overtime. Number ten Kansas State beat number
three TCU thirty one to twenty eight to lane beat
Central Florida forty five twenty eight to take the American Conference.
Next Saturday, it's Army against Navy in Philadelphia. At the
World Cup. In the round of sixteen, Netherlands eliminated the
USA three to one. Quarterfinal. On Friday, the Netherlands will

(32:42):
face Argentina, which eliminated Australia two to one. Today. Among
the NBA games, Toronto has handed Orlando and eighth straight
Laws one twenty one to one oh eight, and there
is actually a notable late night game in college hoops
number one Houston seven and oh is playing in Fort
Worth right now and leading St. Mary Is at the
half thirty one to twenty. I won't say anything about

(33:04):
Arizona's most recent results. Killed by the way, Arnie, make
sure you call out next Saturday, because we got Indiana
Arizona on a neutral site on Fox at what time?
Four thirty Pacific, five pacific something like that. So if
I see one more tweet of you in Connecticut, I'm
gonna bar if I want you to know that. I mean,
it's just tough because you know, men's team is in

(33:25):
the top ten. They'll be top five next week after
all these losses, including Arizona, So thank you for that.
Women's team is top five, football's bull boll eligible, men's
ice hockey top ten. It's it's just it's it's exhausting
keeping up with all the winds with yukon Sports. Thank
you to Sager. Thank you, Arnie, Fox Sports Radio aerators,
Arnie Spaniard for Jason Barrow, I'll tell you what, Arnie
will come back. We'll continue this conversation on who's number

(33:48):
four and at some point we got four. We gotta
we gotta get to who's the new head coach at Colorado.
Arizona's Jet Fish has got some competition in the in
the back twelve baby, that's next. Fox Sports Radio, Welcome back, everybody,
Fox Sports Radio, Ara Torres, Arnie Spaniard, Arnie in for
Jason Martin. We're Company Life from the Tirac dot Com studios.

(34:08):
The late breaking news. Well, I already, I think we
save Dion for the top of the hour, um, because
it's it's a it's a it's a spicy one that
I want to us. I want to spend some time on.
But Dion Sanders, the Sager just told you, for those
who missed it, he is officially the head coach at Colorado.
Colorado has officially announced that Dion Sanders is headed to

(34:29):
the pack twelve already real quick. And by the way,
I'll tell my story about what I ran ato Dion
at the airport one time. Why don't you tell that now?
And then we'll actually talk about the coaching higher in
a minute. What he was He was working for our
network back then, Fox Sports, No, no another network I
was working for. I can't say that and and so
I thought I would go for introduced myself, and you know,

(34:49):
heyd you know my name is already I work at
the network, blah blah blah. And it was very nice.
But I don't think he believed me because he went
to the phone and picked up the phone and called
my bas us to see if I really worked at
the network. He's like, does this guy really work there?
Just wow, I thought you were grandstanding. We were on
the we're on the same flight, so you just because

(35:10):
he didn't want to talk to me, I guess if
I didn't work at the at the networks, I'm sure
he didn't want to talk to you. Anyway. I didn't
want to talk to me either way. But but anyway,
that was my going to brush with Dion there. So
go ahead, I got one question for you, unrelated to Dion,
and we'll get back to the debate of who is
number four in a minute. I think you and I
both agree. Georgia is in Michigan, pulling away from Perdue.

(35:31):
They are up twenty eight to thirteen middle of the
third quarter and they have the ball, so they'll probably
win that one. And I think we think of how
State is gonna get a number three. So the conversation
seems to be TCU and I guess T would agree
Alabama one team that's not gonna get in Clemson. Clemson's
right number nine. But this is after they lost by
one point to their biggest rivals last week in a

(35:52):
game We're starting quarterback d j Ui Lagan lay Uel.
I can never spit say it right, but the he
threw four under a hundred yards and completed twenty seven
percent of his passes aren't the reason I bring it up.
The reason I bring it up Clemson had to three
and ounce to start the game. They take dj out,

(36:13):
they put in Caid club Nick, who's the highly touted
freshman backup. He has thrown. He has completed eleven of
twelve passes, a hundred fifty six yards, one touchdown plus
a rushing touchdown. They're up thirty two to ten. I'm
not even gonna ask you if Dabbo cost his team
a playoff spot, because right now they would probably be
in position potentially to get in at number four as

(36:34):
an a c C champ. Would they get in over TCU?
Maybe Alabama? I don't know. My question to you is
why did Dabbo do this because real quick, and I
don't want to turn this into a Clemson thing. They're
not in the picture. But it's not as though Dabbo
has not been afraid to put in a freshman quarterback
if the freshman quarterback was the right fit. There was
a guy named Trevor Lawrence about five six years ago
that uh, through three games, Dabbo realized that Trevor Lawrence

(36:56):
was the answer. He puts in Trevor Lawrence. They go
on to win a national championship. Not this Clemson team
win a national championship, but Dabble. I I think Dabble
screwed this up. And I think Dabble potentially cost himself
a playoff spot. What do you make of the situation Clemson?
I mean, I think maybe he stuck with him a
little too long. Remember d j u Wango. He came
in highly touted. Um, it wasn't like, hey, let's start
this guy that nobody's ever heard of and and we'll

(37:18):
show everybody. Um, you know, it's not like in the
NFL where we tell where did this guy come from?
But he's gonna start. Um, he came in very highly touted.
But we could see as it went along that maybe um,
he was a tad bit overrated. Yeah, he could have
made a change. That he did make a change before
before this game, I apologize. Yeah, so he has made

(37:41):
changes before. UM, so I'm not so sure that they
would be in the position to get into the four
they maybe, I I don't know. I mean, who knows
what would happen if you know, the other guy would
have played the entire year, So you don't know if
he would have a bad game and caused his team
a game. It's just so hard to tell. But Um,
I sent to the rumor about dj U possibly transferring

(38:04):
to USC or U c l A, and I guess
it's what a package deal with his brothers that the
way it's working there. So his brother, yeah, five star
defensive end. I believe out of California. Now, I will
tell you why I don't necessarily believe that, um, because
dj is a third year quarterback and if he went

(38:24):
to by the way, his his brother is a five
star edge rusher. UM who appears to be down to
Ohio State Oregon in USC. Question is Arnie though, I mean,
he's not gonna go to USC because I know where
I would go if I was him, Well, you assume
they want him, But go ahead where I know where.
I know where. I know a team that would want him.
I know where I know he would want them. I

(38:46):
know would be exciting for him. I know that they
would probably be on TV a lot. Where do you
think he should go? You go? Who? Where's the hottest?
What's everybody talking about right now? Every No, besides Tco,
besides Alabama? I don't. I actually don't know where your Colorado?
I go with Coach Prime? Well, the problem is there

(39:07):
there's another highly touted quarterback that's Coach Prime's son, that's
actually an NFL draft prospect who's gonna probably come with him.
So he's he's, uh, he's gonna go ahead and be
the start of them? Is that what's gonna happen there?
Or what I mean? I don't. I don't think he's
got I want. I don't think Deon is gonna leave
his son behind. Now, listen, am I dumb enough? Am
I smart enough to know to know? Um what you know?

(39:28):
Am I smart enough to know the difference between FCS
and fbs? I mean that that's a question it's about
that would have been a good place for him though there,
and you know what he would have been? Yeah, real quick? Uh,
Dion Son Shdor Sanders through this year three thousand yards,
seventy completion, thirty two touchdowns, six interceptions, So h he's
gonna be going with him. And actually a Dion was
actually asked about that at one point this week if

(39:50):
if he did decide to leave wood Shador come with him,
and he kind of said, come on, man, are you
are your father? Of course he's got So it's actually
a great quote. He didn't even answer the question. Well
I didn't. Yeah, I didn't know that one. So that's
too bad because I thought that would be actually a
good place for him. You know. Well, I'll tell you what.
Let's come back and talk to Deon Sanders because for
those who missed it, Dion is officially the head coach
at Colorado. Was this the right decision? Was this the

(40:12):
wrong decision? Should he have waited longer? And what does
it mean for some of those highly touted recruits that
he did bring to Jackson State. We'll discuss all that
next busy Saturday night. Eric Torres, Arnie Spanier, Fox Bors Radio,
Welcome back, everybody, our to Fox Sports Radio Aera Torres
Arnie Spaniard in for Jason Martin. We are broadcasting life

(40:33):
from the Tairac dot com studios. Tirac will help you
get their unmatched selection fest free shipping, free road hazard protection,
over ten thousand recommended installers tirect dot com. The way
tire buying should be first of all, Arnie, you know
it's it wasn't all that long ago that you you
gave me the keys to the car? How How how
am I doing so far? What would you say? Much
better today? Usually when I fill in, it's a train wreck.

(40:56):
Um when you drive, So I'm I'm a little surprised,
but it's only hour one. There's still three more hours
for you to screw up, so I'm pretty much expecting
it anyway, So we'll see what happened. Well, we'll see.
You know, I don't know if Tyrack will be Matt
since you interrupted my glorious read an hour one, so
we'll see if the exact get back to us on that.
But Arnie, let's uh, let's get to the story of

(41:16):
the night. Uh. You know, college football at the Sayer
just told you in the Big Ten Championship game, Michigan
is up twenty eight to sixteen, Clemson blowing out North
Carolina thirty nine to ten. But in the coaching carousel
we are I believe the last major job that was
was open was Colorado And it was funny, aren't Because
I remember I was on with with with Rob Parker

(41:38):
on the Odd Couple and I said this on my
own podcast, is when you saw last weekend how quick
Auburn was to fill its head coaching job. Wisconsin was,
Nebraska was all these schools that are open. And it
gets to Tuesday and Wednesday, and we know Bruce Feldman
has reported that Colorado has offered Dion It's job, and
Dion confirmed it on Monday or Tuesday this week. I said,

(42:00):
there's something going on. They're not waiting until Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
hoping that he's gonna be their next head coach. Well,
tonight it became official. Dion Sanders coach, prime NFL Hall
of Famer baseball, played in the World Series. And that
guy who, by the way, earlier today did complete a
twelve and old regular season at Jackson State, he is

(42:23):
the Colorado Buffalo's head coach. Arnie, what do you think
man laying on me? What do you got well, I
mean it's not a surprise. I figured they were just
probably working on a contract. I think I figured something
with Dion Sanders probably takes a little bit more than
the average football coach. That's that's the first thing too.
I think it's a fabulous higher, Um, just fantastic. Look
what he's done down there at Jackson State. He is

(42:44):
a great recruiter. Matter of fact, the whatever you want
to call them rin memes or whatever um were they
on on Twitter has already happened where they say people
running to the transfer portal to go with Deon Sanders,
and there's pictures of like mobs of people running it,
you know what I mean, just getting crazy. Um. People
are gravitated towards him. He obviously knows football. He's a

(43:07):
great coach. You're right, his son will end up going
with him. The only question is how long is he
going to be the head coach there? How long will
his health allow? And obviously we know he has some
health problems, but as long as he's okay, I think
it's a fabulous higher for Colorado, good for the Pac twelve,
and you know what, it's good for Dion because um,
now at u C a USC out of the Pack

(43:28):
twelve not gonna be all that hard. It's probably a
UM good conference from the ben if he wants to
go ahead and make some headway. And remember a long
long time ago, UM Colorado used to be a pretty
damn good team. So I think it's a win win situation,
great place to live, UM good for him, just a

(43:49):
fantastic higher for a couple of thoughts here one, I
think your reaction is the same as mine. I think,
first of all, this is a big win for the
PAC twelve UM. And you know, it's interesting, right because
I think this went a little bit kind of underreported
at the time. But you know, I I wasn't somebody
that was in favor of a twelve team playoff, But
when it got announced that there was going to be
a twelve team playoff, I think it made some of

(44:09):
these pack twelve jobs more desirable because now for people
who don't know this twelve team playoff, you're gonna have
six automatic bids for the top six conferences. So I,
you know, is that why I don't know my hunches Dion.
He's interviewed for multiple Power five jobs before we know
about Arkansas Florida State, TCU, among others. But I think
it's a huge win for the Pack twelve. Uh And

(44:30):
I think it's listen, man, it's a huge win for
college football. And this is no disrespect to Jackson State.
This is no disrespect to the HBCUs. But at the
end of the day, you know, he was doing it
at that level. And yes, we talked about him, and
yes there were more Jackson State games on TV than
would have been without him. But at the same time,
it's not that he was off the radar, but he
certainly wasn't on the radar that that he the way

(44:52):
that he will be at Colorado. And so, you know,
I just think about next next year on Saturday nights
when I'm potentially hosting with Jason Martin or you're filling
it or whatever, and we go to Pac twelve after
dark football and it's the Arizona Wildcats and Boulder. It's
for another year, USC and Boulder. I mean, I just
think it adds so much to the Pac twelve, and
I think it adds a lot to college football, adds

(45:12):
a lot to a conference that needs storylines and narratives,
especially post USC. Aren't I was going to ask you
about that, you know, looking at the other way, Um,
how do you build on what he has accomplished down
there at Jackson State? How do you build on that?
If you're Jackson State? How do you build on that?
If you're an HP if you're at HBCU school, how
do you say? You know what, we do want to

(45:33):
turn around their conference? We do want coaches that do
you hire more former players? UM? I don't know what.
What do you do to turn it around or not?
You don't even have to turn it around, just continue
building on on the steps that Dion built. You know,
I don't know well. And what I would say is
it's it's a great question, and it's an interesting conversation
because what I would say about that is I think

(45:55):
he has already elevated HBCU football. And it's funny because
I have seen a little push act of you know,
he was supposed to be doing it for HBCUs. And
my argument is it's it's like anybody else. You want
to in life, whatever you're doing, you want to elevate yourself.
You want to get to the highest level, you want
to compete against the best. And so wait a minute,
if you didn't have a son that was quarterback. Would

(46:15):
he be going? I don't know if the transfer portal,
if he would be going. I mean, it's tough to
rebuild these days, but we saw a TCU U, s
c L s U. How quickly it can be done.
I want to get back to your first question though,
because you know people are saying, oh, you know, how
did how can he bail on on on Jackson State
and how can he bail on hbc US. But I
would argue that he unquestionably left not only Jackson State,

(46:36):
but hbc US in better place. Because you asked Arnie
what happens, Well, he has elevated hbc USE. Because I
don't know if you know this, but uh, Hugh Jackson,
the former NFL head coach, is now coaching in HBCU.
Eddie George, the former profile I think he's a Pro
Football Hall of Famer, but long time Tennessee Titan Houston
oiler is a head coach. I believe a Tennessee State
which is an HBCU. So Dion did elevate h BCS.

(47:00):
Now the question is can they continue to build off that.
I don't know what Jackson State does from here, but
I think that's already happened for people who are asking
that question. Arnie, I think he has already elevated HBCUs
even in his short three or four years there, whatever
it was. You see that those guys, other guys don't
get the press that the odd gets, right. Uh one,
he wins a ton and too he creates his own press,
which is to his credit, he knows how to play

(47:21):
the game. You know. Well, he also has a duck
dext to him going off. Give me to tell me
Hugh Jackson can't get the same commercial with Nick saving.
Is that what you're telling me? Yeah, I'm taking something
like that, But I I don't think it's gonna take
him long. I I think it's kind of like what
Arizona and Connecticut have done. Um, you know, horrible a
couple of years ago, win a little bit next year,

(47:43):
and then this year you're Bowl eligible. We were one
win away from being Bowl eligible. Um had a victory
over a ranked opponent in U C. L A. So um,
you know, I I think that's how you do it
with Colorado, though, Is he gonna want his son go
to have his son go through building pains like that?
And maybe a little too much for him. You know, well,
I think his son's gonna come with him, um, because

(48:05):
you know, I don't think you want to leave your
son behind depending on But what are you gonna say?
What he's three at nine, your team's three at nine,
and he had a lot of bad games. Because it's
gonna take a couple of years for them to to
get up to speed. You know, That's what I was
gonna ask you. You just brought up you know, not
only Yukon in Arizona, which elevated their programs because of
the portal, but TCU. We can argue about whether they
should be in or not. But they're twelve and one

(48:26):
with the first year head coach. Lincoln Riley was eleven
and two with the first year head coach and the portal. Now,
I'm not saying that shedor Sanders. Dion's son is Caleb Williams,
and I'm not saying they're gonna get guys of Jordan
Addison's caliber. But the reports were this week that that
Dion and and his son were already kind of reaching
out to players in the portal saying, hey, this is
where we're gonna be in a week or so, come

(48:47):
join us. I guess my question his son is because
I think it's against the rules for I don't know
the rules anymore. But real quick, what do you think
about what do you think about how quick he can be? Like, like,
what do you think how quick do you think he
can get that thing at least to respectability if not
really good? Well, I think they could be a respectability
next year. I think they could go ahead and be

(49:09):
in the thick of things for the pack drop maybe
in a couple of years or right with the transfer portal,
now anything is possible. You can get quick fixed a pronto. Um,
especially with that. I mean there's so many kids that transfer.
I saw stat someone said that sixty pisode of the
kids in the transfer portal and never end up getting
another home or something like that. It's just, um, you know,

(49:29):
there's so many kids that enter that thing, so um,
you got plenty to choose from. And I think he'll
go ahead and uh, you know, get on that immediately.
He's a great recruiter, we know that. So um, I'm
looking forward to see what he could do with Colorado. Well,
and I think the other thing too, and I keep
going back to it, is I think the narrative has changed,
you know. I mean, you know, listen, it's so funny,

(49:50):
right because we spent the first hour and we'll revisit
it in a minute. The idea of you know, who
is the quote unquote most deserving four or who should
be that four? It's gonna be a relevant and literally
two years. Um, you know, again, the twelve team playoff
is here. Maybe we talk about it next segment, Army,
but we're not gonna argue. There's gonna be no argument
over TCU versus Alabama versus Ohio State. They're all gonna

(50:12):
be in. And then it's gonna be a question of
you know, Iowa versus uh, you know, Oregon State or whatever. See.
My thing is this though, and I just I'll push
back a little bit back. Let's say TCU, well, Texas
are gonna be there anymore. But let's say TCU is
playing Kansas State. Kansas State is number ten, TCU is

(50:33):
number eleven. Right, Um, the loser is going to be
eliminated from the twelve team playoff. The winner is going
to go into an advance. So um, yeah, these games
are still gonna be meaningful. A lot of people say
these championships are gonna be not meaningful, They're gonna be obsolete.
I totally disagree with that. I still think they're gonna

(50:54):
go ahead and have you know a big part of
this thing. You know, well, no, I I don't disagree
with that. I guess what I was just saying was, though,
is that there is a path for Colorado with Dion
Sanders that doesn't involve them going twelve and oh right now,
right of course. You know you look at USC last night,
they're eleven and one. They lose their out of the conversation,
so that that was the only point I was trying
to make, is you know, I think everybody it's not

(51:15):
just Colorado fans. It's Arizona fans, it's Iowa fans, it's
Texas fans, it's out you know, like South Carolina finishes
eight and four, their number nineteen right now, they're right
on the cusp. You know, Oregon right now is number sixteen.
They lost two of their last three games. Well, you know,
if enough teams lost today, would they be in So
you don't have to be on the cusp. Look at Perdue,
they're they're yeah, I mean, they're not. What I don't

(51:37):
don't think they're ranking, so they win, they're going. It'd
be just like one of those teams in the n
C Double A basketball tournament that just playing good football
or good basketball at the right time. Perdue would be
going in. Michigan will be going. So this this game
would actually be obsolutely you know, because except for Purdue,
they need to win this thing, you know, absolutely. I'll
tell you what I actually do have one more question

(51:59):
on the Eon to Colorado situation. I'm gonna bring that
to you next Starnie Spanier. Before I do, I should
remind you, by the way, football fans, be sure to
tune into Fox Sports Radio's Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
bet MGM, on Sunday morning, three hours before kickoff. That's right,

the field. As we just said, Michigan is pulling away
from Produce twenty eight to sixteen, early fourth quarter, Clemson
destroying North Carolina thirty nine to ten, and the news
of the night Dion Sanders is officially your head coach
at Colorado. I have one more question for this. Farnie

(52:41):
Spaniel will discuss that next Aara towards Arnie Spanier. Fox
Sports Radio. Welcome back everybody, Fox Sports Radio. Aaron Torres,
Arnie Spaniard for Jason In for Jason Martin. We are
broadcasting live from the Tireract dot Com studios and this
is the Fox Sports Radio Tailgate presented by the Big

football scores per New Arnie kind of sort of hanging around.
They are hanging around. They were hanging around. Twenty eight

(53:22):
to nineteen is the score there? Clemson is now they're
down to their third string quarterback, as in that they
started the starter, they benched him and now the third
stringers in thirty nine to ten. Clemson is up with
seven minutes left, They're gonna win the a c C
Championship party. So big news of the night. You know,
in football terms, Dion Sanders is officially the head coach

(53:45):
at Colorado. It has been announced by the school. It
is official. We just talked about it. If you missed
any of it, you go back and check out the
podcast when it's available after the show. But my question
for you Aarnie, Umm, I'm on social media right now.
I'm on Twitter, and uh, I see something that is
very interesting, something is trending that caught my eye. It
is two words. It is the name Travis Hunter. If

(54:08):
you remember, Travis Hunter was the number one player in
America last year. Commits to Dion Sanders. Uh, for few
different reasons. One in part two of course, Uh, you
know play for Deon Sanders. He's a cornerback Deons maybe
the greatest corner of all time. But I do think
part of it, by the way, is probably because he
wanted to kind of create that HBCU legacy which we
were talking about in the first segment. I guess my

(54:30):
question for you, Arnie is do you think Travis Hunter
ends up going with Dion to Colorado? Because really quick,
I would say, you know, he's from Georgia. Um. And
on the one hand, I could see him saying, I
came to play for the greatest corner of all time.
This guy will get me ready for the pros more
than anybody else. But I can also see him saying,
you know what, I wanted to create a legacy in

(54:51):
an hbc U. He's gone rather than go, you know,
three thousand miles from my home. He's from Georgia. Originally,
I'm gonna go to Florida state where I was originally committed.
I'm gonna go to George. I'm gonna go to Bam,
I'm gonna go to somewhere like that. Do you think
Travis Hunter, the highly touted recruit we talked a lot
about this time last year when he committed to Dion,
do you think he ends up following Dion to Colorado?
I still think he does. I mean a lot of

(55:11):
the kids peak pick where they're gonna go to school
based on the coach. You're really supposed to pick based
on the university and where you want to go. Ahead, UM,
obviously you're still gonna get the attention out there. How
good is the team going to be? Though? That's going
to be the question Um, you really don't want to
be an a lousy team where you're like one and
eleven or something like that and teams are just running
up to score against you, and then it kind of

(55:33):
makes you look bad and you know you're you're, you know,
you just maybe your value drops a little bit. But
I don't think that's gonna happen to Dion. I think
if you're gonna go to Jackson State because of Dion,
you're probably gonna go to Colorado with the Dion and
and you're gonna go ahead and follow him there. I
don't think you're gonna stay there. And you know, he
may want to stay home and go to Florida State
and schools like that, but I think he really wants

(55:55):
to go ahead and connect with Dion and go that way.
You know, it'll be interesting to see. And again for
people who do not kind of follow this stuff, Dion's
son is also an NFL draft prospect, just finished his
second years named Shador Sanders. And I gave you the
stats earlier. Uh, he finished last year with this past season,
excuse me, thirty two touchdown passes, three thousand yards, seventy
completion percentage. You think that he is going to follow

(56:18):
dion to to Colorado really quick. Already, you know, put
a little ball on college football. For now. I want
to ask you about some soccer believe it or all
in a minute, but real quick. UM we talked about
is to lead the show, and maybe we'll talk about
it once these games go final. But it looks like
Michigan is going to win. Um, if you were asking
me to rank my top four, I would have Georgia

(56:40):
at number one, Michigan if they win at number two,
even if they don't, Ohio State at three, TCU at four.
Do you do you really believe Bama is more deserving?
Do you believe that? Were you just making the argument
or do you believe if you were a one man
committee you would have Bamit number four. I would probably
have badmant number four. I don't know if you saw this.
Clay Travis put out the odds out George. They have
Georgia six and a point favorite over Ohio State one

(57:02):
against four, two against three, Michigan nine and a half
over TCU. I don't think that TCU will be a
number three seed. I don't see how that's possible. A
matter of fact, I have Georgia one, Michigan to Ohio
State three. I assume TCU is gonna be the number four.
But if I had my druthers, I think I would
put Alabama there and say that they're the better team,

(57:23):
at least in my opinion. That's why I'm giving them
my vote. I think there'd be more interest in the
George Alabama game. I think it'd be a closer game.
I think the ratings would be higher. Um, everything reports,
everything points to Alabama being the better pick, other than
the fact that TCU um at one loss and it
came in the championship game. Make no mistake about it.

(57:46):
He has he sees a much better conference than the
than that lousy Big twelve. But UM, I I can
understand why you're gonna put TCU at number four. I
would say right now, if if you were taking like
a hundred votes, I TCU wins up by like but
I would put out about him there. I'm part of
real quick. Um. You and I have argued for years

(58:09):
about the idea of the twelve team playoff. UM, I
don't think I'm going out. I don't think I'm putting
words in your mouth to say that you're in favor
of this. UM, I assume you know. You and I
obviously haven't talked since the news became official this week
that it is going to take place not this coming season,
but the following one. I'm guessing you're in favor of
the twelve team college football player of course. Yeah. I

(58:30):
love it. I think it's fantastic. I would have if
I had a vote, I would have voted for sixteen.
UM probably stopped there. I don't like five weeks, but
that's my own personal thing. Otherwise, I think it's fantastic.
I love that we're having twelve. And a matter of fact,
when we first started the four team playoff, Aaron I
thought our natural progression would have been eight. Some people
were talking six. So I'm delighted that we have twelve.

(58:53):
There's no doubt about that. You think it will make
for a better product. I mean, obviously there's already a
lot of blowouts in the playoff it is. You're not
worried we're just gonna get more blowouts in those big games, No,
I mean we've always had the blowouts, with one in
sixteen to fifteen. And guess what, we love it, don't
we We love it every year we watched the games. Um,
we say it's gonna be an upset, we say fifteen

(59:14):
is gonna win, and and stuff like that. I'm not
gonna say it's gonna be on that same level. And
sooner or later we'll have a twelve. Remember, twelve is
not going to be playing number one. It's what three
playing number twelve? Right, So everybody says there's a big
difference between Georgia and everybody else, So maybe it's not
a little bit more equal playing field in that first
round there. Yeah, I don't you know, I've kind of

(59:37):
I'm one of those people. I wasn't in favor of it,
but I've kind of just come to accept that this
is what it is. This is what it's gonna be,
and now, you know, I'm curious what it looks like.
I mean, the one thing I will say once once
we once we found out and this this was more
over the summer when they approved the twelve team playoff
and then they had to figure out details. Once we
found out that it was the top six conferences, we're

(59:57):
gonna get automatic bids, that was when I was kind
of okay with it, because I I do sit there
and say, you know, if it was gonna be you know,
we're just quote unquote picking the twelve best teams. Well,
you you see tonight what what the argument of best
turns into? And so I was afraid if we go
to twelve, it's just gonna be five SEC teams, four
Big ten teams, and then everybody else is gonna be
scraping for one or two bids. But the fact that

(01:00:19):
that it's more balanced, I'm okay with it. Um, I
do worry it's gonna take a little bit away from
the regular season. I mean, I think the thing to
me that really stands out, I just think the college
football is gonna feel more like the NFL, where we
watch these great NFL games, but at the end of
the day, one loss, even two losses, you know, in
the NFL it could be six, seven, eight losses, your
season is not done. I think it's just gonna be

(01:00:41):
a weird readjustment where you know, Tennessee beats Alabama on
a Saturday night and we don't have to immediately default
to what does it mean for Alabama in the long term.
They just kind of go go ahead. When you say,
say it gives more teams a chance to maybe get
into the playoffs. And what I mean about that is,
as I brought up per Do, there was no way
for there was gonna ever gonna get in. If you're
voted into the top four or the top eight, or

(01:01:02):
even if you're voted in the top twelve, they were
never gonna get in. Arizona is never gonna get in. Um,
if you said, all right, we're just gonna vote who
are the top twelve teams in in in America, they
would never get in. But the fact that, okay, um,
maybe you finished second in the division and you get
to play in the championship like produced playing uh, you
pull off the upset you're in. I mean, sure, it

(01:01:22):
takes a little bit. You gotta play well and you
gotta beat the you know, being a top team like Michigan.
But at least you have a chance, you know what
I mean, at least you have the chance to you know,
you don't have to win the conference, but just finish
in the top two. Playing the championship, you win that
thing and you get to advance. So it does open
up to the gates for a lot more teams than

(01:01:43):
than just voting them in. Aaron very good, really One
quick update on the Dion Sanders front for people missed it,
he has been named the head coach at Colorado. A
video of his final postgame speech at Jackson State was
just released and he says that he hopes that i'd
receiver coach TC Taylor, who played at the school, replaces him.

(01:02:04):
So you were asking, Arnie, how do they continue to
build off of what they've already done. Uh, that could
be the start of it. Doesn't appear as though right
now that anything is official, but that is what Diana said.
That is per Chris Fannini of the Athletic Fox Sports
radio eron Torres and Arnie Spaniard in for Jason Martin
coming up. I do want to talk t m USA.
They take d L today in in Gatar, will discuss that.

(01:02:27):
I want, Arnie, you've been watching soccer a long time, Yeah,
at least two weeks at least. So well the US
in your life ever get to the top. We'll discuss
that next Before we do, though, as I said the
last hour to Sayer, there is a lot trending on
this busy Saturday night. My man. The answer the question
is no, because you'd have to be the European team
to get to the top. Whoa, we've got a split

(01:02:49):
with Wales. Or let's let's put it this way. The
US after nineteen fifty didn't qualify for the World Cup
at all until so that's forty years out and now
since the Americans have beaten a European team once in
the World Cup, I'm saying there's a chance. Yeah. The
record after today losing to the Netherlands three to one,

(01:03:12):
the US record is one in twelve with seven ties
against European opponents in the World Cup since we returned.
How did Freddy to do today? If we just avoid
the European teams, it sounds like we'll be okay, yeah, exactly,
that'll be fine, of course, How how's that gonna happen?
And we are automatically right, absolutely, we are co hosts.

(01:03:34):
Real quick to say, are you would probably know this
because you're smarter than Arnie Um. So the host country
gets an automatic bit. But it's a North America, Mexico, Canada, US.
They're expanding the field, so all three will get in.
This is gonna be the first time we don't have
thirty two in. It's gonna be forty eight teams in
the next World Cup in forty years, four years, I

(01:03:56):
should say, and with the forty eight teams, most of
those games are going to be played in the US.
Think it's ten and a couple of three Mexican stadiums,
ten and a couple of Canadian stadiums, but mostly NFL
stadiums for the next World Cup. An hour five, Arnie
and I will debate World They still haven't settled on
how they're going to work the groups, but yeah, stay tuned.

(01:04:16):
That means that you don't have to qualify. So I
don't know is that a good thing or a bad thing,
because it wasn't a great thing that we didn't play
great competition the past year as a US team once
we got to the World Cup. Just for the record,
and yes, Coach Crime Dion Sanders is officially the new
head coach at Colorado. There was the statement released by

(01:04:36):
Jackson State that said quote Coach Prime attempted to interview
go to in the interview room after today's game, but
the Southern University press conference was still in progress. He
then left the stadium to attend to official business with
the A D and the team. So I guess some
media we're waiting at the press conference. That didn't happen,
and he's got bigger fish to fry now because it

(01:04:57):
became official. He's going to Colorado and mentioned in a
couple of years, when we go to a twelve team
college football playoff format, the twelve seed would face number
five in the first round because it's the top four
and it's not the top four ranked teams, it's the
four highest ranked conference champions. Notre Dame will never be

(01:05:21):
a top four seed in this new form. Don't forget
anybody independent. I mean, if Army or b y U
or fits that mold, it gets up that high. I mean,
what if Notre Dame is undefeated, They're literally gonna have
to play a first round game anyway because they will
not be in a conference and therefore not a conference champion.
Last year, somebody pointed out that Georgia lost its conference final,

(01:05:45):
so Georgia would not have finished in the top four.
Georgia would have had to play a first round game
last year against whoever the twelve seed was. As for
college football tonight, it's on Fox TV right now, nine
minutes to go in the Big Ten championship game, and
in Annapolis, Michigan has scored again with a two point pass.
It's now thirty six nineteen Michigan ahead of Perdue again

(01:06:07):
about nine minutes left, and at the a c C
Championship game under three minutes to go. In Charlotte, ninth
rank Clemson leads North Carolina thirty nine to ten. Number
one Georgia still undefeated after whipping l s U fifty
to thirty to win the SEC overtime. In the Big
twelve Championship game is number ten ranked Kansas State beat
number three TCU thirty one to eight. The Rams place

(01:06:31):
quarterback Matthew Stafford on i r with a neck injury.
The US loss at the World Cup started the round
of sixteen Netherlands three one. The final, Argentina beat Australia
two to one. Tomorrow France faces Poland, then England plays
against Senegal on FS one, and those two winners will
face each other in a quarterfinal next Saturday. We already

(01:06:52):
know next Friday a quarterfinal will have Netherlands against Argentina,
and by the way, Argentina star lenol Messi has said
this is very likely his last World Cup at age
thirty five, and he's never won it. To the NBA,
Everything's final the late game to Portland's winning at Utah
one sixteen one eleven Anthreni Simons with forty five points.
And we do have a college basketball game of note

(01:07:13):
going on in Fort Worth. Number one ranked Houston only
leads St. Mary's forty three with under four minutes to go.
Houston is ranked number one in college hoops for the
first time since ninety three. We had earlier wins tonight
in the top twenty five for Arkansas and Alabama for
Duke in Ohio State number three Virginia beat Florida State

(01:07:34):
hoops sixty two fifty seven. The Seminoles record in basketball
is one and nine this year. Next Saturday, Florida State's
gonna host Louisville, which is oh and seven. Louisville plays
tomorrow against Miami. Back to you, Thank you Sports Radio,
Fox Sports Saturday aeron Torres Arnie Spanier in for Jason Martin.

(01:07:54):
We are broadcasting live from the Tirec dot Com studios.
So Arnie, you know, we kind of just got into
what I wanted to talk to you about. But the
news of the day before we got on air did
come from Qatar World Cup. The U S Dream is
over ARNI. I know you were up at at six am.
I know you painted your face, went to the bar
wearing your red, white and blue. But of course I

(01:08:17):
think by the way I'm sorted it up. Just just
one tweet that says Trader stinking genius was like a
pig and slop as he watched the Netherlands eliminated the
USA team, do was a favor and real kpe back
to Holland in all your orange outfit eating Dutch struffles
all damn day. I was rooting for the U. What

(01:08:37):
are you talking about? What? I was not rooting for
the Netherlands. I was not pulling for them. I mean
I picked us a two to once. I don't know
where he gets off saying that that totally uncalled for
their Today, while I was watching the game, I thought
of the line from the great you know, cinematic classic
Austin Powers gold Member. I don't know if you've seen
that one. Yeah, it's like basically the Casablanca or Gone

(01:09:01):
with the Wind of its generation. But there's a line
where I think it's Austin's dad says, there's only two
things in life. I can't stand people who are intolerant
of other people's cultures and the Dutch and that that
was allied. So I thought of that while we were
watching the game. So Netherlands win three to one. Arnie
was rooting against the US, apparently, according to Brian Alberts
on Twitter, I'm just gonna ask you, man like, so

(01:09:24):
I'll be honest, Okay, I'm gonna be like the angry,
ugly American here. I don't think US is ever gonna
be relevant in soccer. I just don't. Um, I've been
hearing it. You know, I'm old enough to remember that
World Cup in ninety four in the US and that
was supposed to be the spring board and this was
the moment and soccer was gonna take off. Well that
was you know, close to thirty years ago at this point,
Arnie and um, you know, people say, oh, this was

(01:09:47):
this was the second youngest team in the World Cup,
the US, and that it's really a building block for
when we host I'll ask you, do you think US
is ever going to get to that elite level? And sock,
aren't we relevant now? And soccer? I mean, the US
doesn't play sports. To finish in the top sixteen, they
played a win right, I didn't say men's. Oh yeah,

(01:10:08):
I'm talking about the men though. So I'm just saying,
if we can build it in the women's and be
one of the top programs, what makes you think we
can't do it with the men's program. Well, because we
have a hundred fifty year track record that we can't.
I mean the Seger brought up the stat didn't qualify
for a World Cup for forty years. Forget the Sager.
They'll let him be anti American like everybody else. I mean,
you're the anti American. No trucks plays, blame on handle. Look,

(01:10:30):
we built it up in the women's program. Look, a
long time ago, soccer was not our thing. We know
that it was a European sport. We didn't like it here,
we didn't play it here. But it's slowly has grown.
It's no doubt now. I thought we were could have
a boom in soccer maybe twenty years ago, or maybe
even maybe thirty years ago. We used to you know,
more kids were playing soccer, and you know there are

(01:10:50):
a lot of soccer mobs in the whole the whole
nine yards, and a lot of soccer well you know,
they're just they're getting their kids into soccer and they
were transferring, you know, making that trans transformation from football. Remember,
football was getting a bad rap and all the concussions
and stuff, and we thought that maybe soccer was going
to be the next big sport. Never really turned out

(01:11:11):
like that, But that doesn't mean it hasn't grown and
more people aren't playing, and um, we have the youngest
team out there. So I don't see why the in
in four years from now, we don't go have to
have another good run. We we made it to the
round the sixteen, um, like the Sakers had one win
against a third teen games. So we'll see what we
do in four years from now. But we've built a

(01:11:32):
power with the women, so I guess if we could
do it with them, there's no reason we can't do
it with the men. Yeah. I just sit there when
I look at it, and you know, I think first
of all the women, and you know, I've heard other
people say this. I'm not claiming that I have the
the expertise, but you know, financially, I think we've committed
just just more to you know, building up the women's
side of things and the men. But I look at

(01:11:52):
the men's side and I think, you know, to me,
it's funny we talked about you know, you've said throughout
the show, the SEC and football, it's better because you
know whatever, but it's better because the fan bases care more.
And you know, there's fourteen soon to be sixteen schools
that winning is literally everything. And so when I look
at the U s and soccer, I saw a lot

(01:12:13):
of today you know, we'll get them in four years
and whatever, blah blah blah. They're not doing that in
Brazil right now if Brazil losing, they're not doing it
in Argentina if Argentina loses. And to me, like, I
still think it kind of comes down to like, you know,
the Lakers, you know, like fans in Los Angeles care
more about winning championships than I don't know, people in
Charlotte or whatever. So there's like I don't know, I

(01:12:35):
just I don't feel like the US, like the the
like the want to is enough to ever catch Brazil Germany.
But that doesn't make really doesn't make it different than
of course it does. We does anybody really clamber? We
gotta win it in beach volleyball, But yet aren't we
like number one um and have some of the best

(01:12:55):
volleyball players and has nothing to do with with how
much do people want to win? Until you We'll continue
the conversation because if that is the case, then I
want to know why we're not better. Because we have
the athletes, we have the resources, we have the facilities,
we have the money, We're still not winning. Were discussed
that next. Erron Torres, Arnie Spanier, Fox Sports Radio, welcome
back every ready, Fox Sports Radio. Aeron Torres, Arnie spanierd

(01:13:18):
in for Jason Martin. We do have a final in
Charlotte Clemson. Is your a c C champ running away
from North Carolina in that one? The final score in
Charlotte thirty nine to ten, Michigan up thirty six to
twenty two. Arnie, so real quick, poor the break. We're

(01:13:38):
talking to musa soccer. One of the topics that you
know you you are, uh, you know you're like the
woes of soccer. You just I was right about my
tweet this before the game where I'm like this, uh,
this Dutch team, be careful. They they're don't like the
way their defense looks. So we'll give us a lot
of opportunities. And we did have a lot of opportunities,
no doubt, we didn't convert and we lose three. We

(01:13:58):
didn't And so my question for you aren'tie is is
as follows. I said to you, I said, I don't
know that we in the US care enough to ever
be great in soccer. And your argument was, well, we
don't care in volleyball, and we're awesome in volleyball. So
there's my So that leads to my question, which is
pretty straightforward. If it's just about if it's not about

(01:14:21):
care factor, if it's just about resources and access to athletes,
why hasn't the US gotten there? Because you know, it
was funny I was thinking about this. We see those
you know those graphics. There's actually a graphic ESPN. I
don't know if you saw this. They put out a
graphic of you know what if the US team had
Lebron and Mike Troud and whatever in Odell. So clearly

(01:14:41):
we have the athletes, but it's still not translating to
anything more than round of sixteen. I know people will
say that it was a successful tournament, but we do
lose in the round of sixteen. If it isn't about
want to, why aren't we better? Why haven't we been better.
You know, well, we are getting better, and I think
we will be better and be a power for any
years to come. And the reason I say that, Aaron, um,

(01:15:02):
look how great or look how big the USA were
in basketball. Nobody could touch us. We were number one.
I remember when bark the Dream Team and Barkley elbowing guys.
We were beaten by fifty and stuff like that, to
where now it's a it's a it's a battle, or
we've even lost our number one seed if I remember correctly,

(01:15:22):
or just recently in the last couple of months, are
international number one seeds. So other countries caught up to us.
Now they didn't have basketball is the number one sports.
Soccer is still the number one sport. And a lot
of these countries that caught up to us. So how
did they do it? And believe me, there um resources,
not nearly the resources we have here in the United States,

(01:15:44):
and soccer, um you do it with you know, obviously
there's a lot of these summer camps, and you do
it with teaching and your work, your way up and man,
all of a sudden they caught up to the United
States in basketball. We never thought that was going to happen,
so um we so other countries do it, there's no
reason that we should have been able to do it.
The same thing in soccer, by the way, we have

(01:16:05):
a couple of updates Michigan again up thirty six twenty
two for the college troops fans Houston number one of
the country has just beaten St. Mary's. So yeah, I
guess I I just sit there and I mean, that's
a fair point, is it not? We dominated in basketball?
Did we not? We did, and everybody else caught up.
But but you know the US, I mean, we invented
the game, We had a head start, we were the

(01:16:26):
best forever. My question is, as the sayre point out,
we went forty years without a World Cup. We get
to the World Cup in nine nine, and I think
there was one run I want to say maybe two
thousand two where we made the final eight. But you know,
you could say that that you know, we we can
catch up, but we have a seventy five year track
record that we haven't caught up. And so I guess
it's a fair point by you. I'm not saying it isn't,

(01:16:47):
But why hasn't it happened yet? Because we have everything
in place. I don't have the answer for the last
seventy years. I mean, I can tell you now though
with I mean, it feels great that we advanced to
the sixteen and remember now we didn't even lose in
the first round. The two ties and a win. Um,
I think it's pretty damn good to zero zero with England.
I shows that we could play with dominant opponents out there.

(01:17:08):
Today was not so great three one, but we certainly
had our chances could have been different than we scored early.
But I I think we're not too far away from,
you know, going in and making a big power, big
stand there. I was gonna say, do you really believe that? Oh?
Absolutely absolutely. I mean the zero zero with England and
the fact that we didn't lose in the first round

(01:17:28):
shows that we can and we're the youngest. There's no
reason why we can't continue. We will see. I'll be
very curious. Have you watched much of the World Cup.
For a matter of fact, I'm sorry somebody said you
would tweat that says towards the United States will never
become number one in soccer because it's against our culture.
Ronaldo and Messy left home at six years old. As Americans,
we do not embrace treating children as as as like this. Um,

(01:17:51):
I don't know. We we send kids to you know,
go ahead and play baseball early and tennis early and
stuff like that. We live in a world where everybody
tells me every year how awful college basketball is and
these kids should just go pro in the G League
or in whatever. So I don't know that I buy
that argument at all, or to be perfectly honest, what that, uh,
that we don't want our kids. I think it's the

(01:18:12):
exact opposite. I think we've tried to professionalize everything and
you sports are now uh you know, like I said,
everyone tells me how terrible college basketball is, Go let
send your kid to the G league. As you said,
we send fifteen sixteen year olds to professional tennis all
that stuff, you know what I mean, even younger than
that ten years old mean something. These academies in Florida
and stuff like that, and sometimes they're playing on the

(01:18:34):
tour at years old. And by the way, I could
be mistaken on this, but I believe all of the
um MLS teams have academies now, so you can't tell
me that. Yeah, So I think that that now you know.
I don't know if they're paid or how much they're paid,
or if they live at the academy or if they
go to school. I don't know. I don't know if
he said them be six years old like they do overseas,
but we certainly do get into it. I understand that.

(01:18:57):
Let me look real quick, Dallas FC has an academy
youth Dallas. So Dallas FC was a team that I
came up with. They have a youth academy out there
in Dallas. So anyway, Fox Sports Radio Aaron Torres, Arnie Spanier,
and for Jason Martin. The US does lose. They are
out of the World Cup, and I think that probably
concludes soccer talk with Arnie and Torres for tonight include

(01:19:19):
soccer for everybody to be out, even though the World
Couples still be going on. I mean, it's the biggest
sporting event in the world, no big deal. So coming up,
Michigan is about to close out this win. They put
a bow on this, We'll put a bow on our
top four who should be in. And of course we're
gonna switch over to the NFL where Deshaun Watson is
back tomorrow among many interesting storylines, in the NFL this Sunday.

(01:19:41):
Aaron Torres, Arnie span You're in on a busy Saturday night.

in college football is final. Michigan has to say you
just told you is your Big Ten champs. Uh. This
on the heels of everything that happened earlier today Georgia
wins the SEC. UH, Kansas State upsets TCU in the

(01:20:26):
Big twelve, and of course Clemson in the game that
didn't matter for the playoff, Push beats North Carolina. USC
loses last night, aren't we talked about an hour one?
Anybody who missed it, go back and listen. You can
go back and listen to the podcast. I'm gonna ask
you two separate questions. I'm gonna start with this one.
Who should be okay? And and I'm assuming I don't
want to put words out, but I'm assuming that Georgia, Michigan,

(01:20:49):
and I think Ohio State as an eleven and one
at large, who should be in as the number four
team tc or Alabama? UM it's I would put. My
vote is for Alabama because I think Alabama is the
better team. UM. I think Alabama makes the better game
against Georgia because I put him in the number four seed.

(01:21:09):
Though people seem to be questioning that because I see
a lot of people putting TCUs a three seed so
they won't have the rematch of Michigan Ohio State. I
don't know how that's going to work though. UM. I
think TCU had a remarkable season. You can certainly make
a case for them. That's why they're the favorite to
get the number four seed. I think in Vegas their
fourteen the one compared to Alabama, which is twenty five

(01:21:31):
to one. But I still think there's a slight chance
Alabama gainst him. Do you know why people are saying
Alabama doesn't deserve to get in, errand because there's a
chance to get in. Nobody's saying Arizona doesn't deserve to
get in. Because there's no chance that they get in.
There's there's zero nobody's saying USC doesn't deserve to get
in because there's a zero percent chance that US is

(01:21:53):
going to get in now. But people are saying Alabama
doesn't deserve it because either they're afraid or they know
what's going to happen. Twice now since we've had the
four team playoffs, Alabama has gotten in without playing in
the SEC championship game and other teams ahead of them losing.
So it's happened before. You can say, as a president,

(01:22:15):
president for happening, So don't think, don't be so shocked
if we see it happened again this week. Well, I
to me, I do disagree with that a little bit.
I don't think anybody's afraid. I think it's that everybody
thinks that Alabama already gets every advantage possible. Um, and
so I think, you know, I think a lot of
people are in the camp that I'm in, which is

(01:22:37):
that like there are years where Alabama doesn't win the
SEC and they are one of the four best teams
and deserving of being in the playoffs. I just don't
think it's this year, not this year when you lost
the two best teams on your schedule when you had uh,
you know, three or four games literally you won in
the final minute, could have gone the other way. Um.
And so that's where my thing is is is that,

(01:22:58):
you know, when we had Ryan Foller on nour one
and I got a little fresh with him, but I
think he understood that it was just for the sake
of conversation. Is there are years where Alabama doesn't win
the SEC and there's there's an argument. I just don't
really know what the argument is this year. Well, I
was gonna say, if Alabama was number four or number
five coming in and Tennessee was number six, I could

(01:23:20):
see people make it a case. Yeah, I was gonna
see people making a case for Tennessee. Um, considering it
would be between Alabama and Tennessee, and then I can
see the say, we beat them Tennessee one, even though
it was at home. I could see a case for that.
There's there's no doubt about that. I'm not a firm
believer that TCU would provide us the best game, Nor

(01:23:40):
are my firm believer they're in the top four. Um,
are they're deserving? I don't know why don't we treat
TCU like we did some of those other teams that
went twelve and oh but came from Bologna conferences? Was
there not Power five? And we left about it the
whole thing because we're like, no, no, no, this wouldn't
be very good. I'm not just saying that we should
definitely treat TCU like that, but there's something to be

(01:24:02):
said when you're playing in that Big twelve and we
know it's not a great conference. There's no doubt about that.
We've put Oklahoma in before, and I know they haven't
had success once they've been there, but we've put in Oklahoma.
I guess my question for you is, again, I go
back to what I asked you an our one. I
get that Alabama has a great tenure track record and
they have the script a that everybody knows. But what

(01:24:23):
makes you think that this specific Alabama team would provide
the best game Because I go back to again, I
think they provide a better game than TCU. What matter
of fact that I think that? But why they lost
to the two best teams on their schedule. They won
three other games. In the final minute, they easily could
be seven and five. As Nick Saban said, First of all,

(01:24:44):
Alabama's playing the best football out of all the teams
were talking about one. Haven't lost the last three games.
They didn't play today, So that's part of that. That's
that's you know, that's that's something to say about that,
because in the n c Double A basketball tournament, it
does count your last ten games how well you're playing.
So that is a part of this thing. I'm not
even sure of the whole you know, qualifications and what

(01:25:07):
they're gonna take into consideration here. I'm curious to see
how the selection communities are gonna vote this thing. Like
I said, there's pictures of them on Twitter or did
you see the picture of them not only on Twitter
but on TV and they're just sitting there watching the game,
the laptops in front of them. Um, they're just sitting
there watching the game, I taking mental notes or whatever
they're doing. It doesn't seem like they're doing a whole

(01:25:28):
heck of a lot. I'm I don't have a lot
of confidence in these guys. I'm telling you. When you
look at their backgrounds and I pulled it up, I
was very shocked and see that some of these guys
had nothing to do with college football. So I'm curious.
You know, I saw that Quake Travis Nobody Lake Travis
wrote this that says Alabama zero chance to be in
the four. You Crimson Tide fans are embarrassing yourself. Not

(01:25:50):
true mathematically a matter of fact, go to Vegas. They
have more than a zero present chance. You can tell
by the odds. Um, it's just a little bit of
a longer shot than TCU. If they still haven't answered
my question though, what is that you said that Alabama
would give the best the best product on the field.
The only way I could prove that I could go

(01:26:11):
by the odds. But then again, yeah, there are upsets,
but um, it would be a closer game odds wise.
Obviously we can't prove it on the field until they
actually play the game, Aaron, but I think Alabama puts
up a tougher game against Georgia. A matter of fact,
if you're Georgia to Georgia fan, who would you rather
play for an easier win, TCU or Alabama? Well, you'd
rather play TCU. But it doesn't change the question that

(01:26:33):
has yet to be answered by either you or Ryan Fowler.
In four hours, three hours that we've been on air,
which is what I'm a politician. I know you are.
You're like Nick Saban, You're ducking running for president? What
take off? The take off the uniform? First of all,
by the way, let me ask you this. If the
argument is the SEC is so tough, well, Tennessee has
the same record, and Tennessee went one head to head

(01:26:54):
against Alabama. Shouldn't they be shouldn't they be in over Alabama?
I would think that there is some consideration for tennis. Yes, absolutely,
It depends on where you're ranked at the time. And
there were two spots below, So I mean, I don't
know if some people want to jump them ahead of TC,
but I can see some people actually making a small
case for tendency though they're not in the Vegas odds,

(01:27:14):
so mathematically they're they're not looking good. I guess. Let
me ask you a second question. I said that there
were two questions. One, I said, who do you think
should be in? Now here's the question who do you
think will be? And not what Alreny Spanier thinks, but
what that committee full of a bunch of people eating
pizza not watching football right now? Who do you think
are the four tomorrow? If I'm gonna bet on it.

(01:27:36):
I'm I'm betting the committee goes with the chalk and
puts in Georgia number one, Michigan to Ohio State three
UM and TCU at number four. But you know, anything's
crazy with this type of committee. And I would say,
I'm I'm about seventy sure. But and he says Alabama
could be the fourth team when it's all said and done.

(01:27:59):
Let me ask you a question. Change gears a little
bit as we start to wrap college football. I think,
you know, we we know who the three are, and
I think the question is who's number four? But then
the question also becomes what are the rankings. I think
most of us think that Ohio State is already in
and it comes down to TCU and Bama. And then
the question becomes, is Ohio State surpassing that team to

(01:28:19):
get to the number three spot? And so here's my question.
If we get Ohio State Michigan part two in a playoff, one,
that would be unbelievable. But then two, do you think
Ohio State actually has what it takes to upset Michigan
Because we've seen two years in a row Michigan's beat
him up. Michigan's warn them down. This one was close early,
Michigan pulled away late last week. Yeah, I was surprised

(01:28:40):
about that. I mean, Aaron, Ohio State was a seven
and a half point favorite. Take away your home field advantage,
and Vegas is still telling you that there are a
better team, and um, they're at least a four or
five better team. I'm you know, Kansas State was able
to win their UH rematch against TCU. It's tough to
beat the team twice. I certainly think they could beat Michigan.
I don't think Michigan has just instoppable. I just think

(01:29:01):
they're on a roll um right now. And Purdue gave
him a tough game. It doesn't show that on the scoreboard,
but you know, at one point in the fourth quarter
was only a nine point um differential, and you know
Perdue had a couple of bad breaks there. So um, yeah,
I think Ohio's date could win. But but right now,
Michigan and Georgia would be a great championship though. So
you think Michigan will win, then, uh, if they played Ohius,

(01:29:26):
then I'm probably gonna go with Michigan. Yes, Michigan probably
Wouldn't that be funny? I mean Ohio's date was a
seven a half point favorite. In the rematch Michigan and
a neutral site, I would say would be minus three.
You think Michigan will be favorite, I would think so.
I think Ohio State. Bernie Fry, I know you're listening, Bernie.
We got a chore for you, and then you've got
a lot of chores, Bernie, you got a lot of

(01:29:48):
What do you got for Bernie? Bernie listens to our show,
so you tell him what he needs to do between
now and then. I want all the odds there. I
want to know what happens if Georgia played out Alabama, Michigan,
Ohio State, Uh, Georgia tc I want to get all
the odds. You ever seen that gift of the guy
typing really fast with one finger that's burning right now,
hitting up all his sources across Vegas, getting us updated odds. Listen,

(01:30:09):
I'm so First of all, I'm with you. I think
TCU is going to be the pick. You know, we
can argue. It's funny today I was thinking about this
arning You might not remember this, but two thousand eighteen,
which was our first fall together, it was a magical
moment for both of us. But uh, we had a
debate on the final day of the regular season. It
was the year that TWA was the starter for Alabama,

(01:30:32):
so the year before he had won the national championship,
he's the starter. He gets hurt in the SEC championship game.
Jalen Hurts comes in and helps Alabama win the championship.
So Alabama was in. Who else was in that year?
I guess it was Clemson and Notre Dame, and the
fifth spot came down to what I think it was.
It doesn't matter. The fifth spot came down to a

(01:30:53):
one loss Oklahoma or a two loss Georgia. Georgia did
not win its conference, and the argument for Georgia that
year was, well, they didn't win, but they played Alabama
really close and it ended up being Ohio State or
it ended up being Oklahoma that got in. That was there.
It was two of versus Kyler Murray in the in
the playoff game. But I bring it up because to me,

(01:31:16):
this feels the same. It feels like we're forcing a
conversation that isn't there. I don't think Alabama gets in,
and I do think TCU will ultimately that if you
think we're forcing it, and then well, I'm just saying
that it's TCU. You should be running the Vegas right now.
I'm betting that TCU is going to be one of
the four teams because then you pretty much know. Now.

(01:31:37):
I don't know if there's odds on just TCU getting
into the four team playoff, but there are odds on
running the whole thing. And I know TCU was fourteen
the one. I don't think you can win the whole thing. Yeah,
I don't think they could win the whole thing. I
don't think we're manufacturing it. I do think that Alabama
has a case for it, at least some people do
think so. Um, but man, what I love to see

(01:31:59):
um and put Alabama and you just say, oh my goodness,
I can't believe that does happened. That was a Twitter
on fire, no doubt about that. Fox Sports Radio Aaron
towards Arny Spaniard in for by the way, Saban's making
the rounds that you know that, don't Foxy is gonna
be on the BBC next Why did he just come
on our show? Every we do Nation? Come on, let's

(01:32:19):
do it, let's do it. You know, I think he's
gonna be on like the Fox World Cup coverage first
thing tomorrow morning, just cutting into Brazil, Ecuador or whatever.
It's gonna be like Fox Morning News. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, alright,
so the cookie chattel, the weather chattel. We're already here
at the storm. But Nick Saban wants to say a
few things. It's a hurricane. Oh mad, alright, coming up.

(01:32:43):
If Nick Saban doesn't call in, you know he's hit.
We got a busy call log with Nick Saban and
Steve Kerr since you're in. So so if we don't
get Steve Kerr, we're hoping for Nick Saban. If we
don't get Nick Saban, we will switch to the NFL
uh and we'll talk a little bit about de Shaun Watson.
He speaking of returns. He comes back. He will be
playing in Houston and tomorrow and you know, we got
a lot to talk about. Arrantors, Arnie Spanier, Fox Sports Radio,

If you missed any of the college Football Conversation, do
encourage you to make sure to check out the podcast,
which will be available shortly after the show. But I
do want to switch gears to the NFL. And uh,
you know there there's actually it's an interesting slate tomorrow

(01:33:49):
on Sunday. Uh, and it's you know, I want I
don't know if it's headlined is the right word to
put it? When we have a you know, an a
f C title game rematch. But uh, you know, I
think the most interesting conversation probably stems from what's gonna
happen to Energy Stadium in Houston. Deshaun Watson will make
his return to the NFL tomorrow, and ironically, or maybe
un ironically, it is going to be in Houston. First

(01:34:12):
of all, do you think this was purposeful by the
NFL to bring him back in what should be a
very hostile environment in Houston tomorrow. You mean when they
made the suspension, and so let's suspend them and then
his first game back will be against the Texans. That
was That was I was, That was what I was asking.
I don't think so. I mean, certainly it brings a
lot of drama, but I mean, you can't really do that.

(01:34:32):
I mean, I would seriously doubt it, um, especially because
of the legal ramifications in the seriousness of the charges.
Um to say, hey, let's suspend them and then then
come back from the first game against the Texans. I mean,
that'd be so callous. I don't think the NFL would
do something like that. I'd have to say, no, See,
I actually disagree. And it was It was interesting because
when they announced that he was coming back and I

(01:34:54):
saw it was the Texans, my first thought was, oh
my god, here's the NFL trying to take a meaningless
Browns Texans game and turn it into a spectacle. And
then I really thought about it and I and I
do think that there is something to the idea of
bringing him back in this specific game. Now, first of all,
with the way that the Browns schedule breaks, Um, you know,

(01:35:16):
you don't I don't think you want to bring him
back against a super prominent opponent. You know, two weeks
ago they played Buffalo. Last week they played Tampa. Next
week they play Cincinnati in a big division game. So
I don't think you want to bring him back there.
But I do think that they brought him back in
Houston because specifically, my thought is this an in and
you can tell me if you disagree or not. Is

(01:35:37):
uh that's so it's clear, like we know it's it's
pretty public at this point. The NFL wanted a year
long suspension, and then they put it in the hands
of the independent investigator. She gave him whatever it was,
four games, and they settled on whatever it was thirteen
or so without him playing. And so I think part
of it was okay once we didn't get our season long.
I do think some of it was where can we

(01:35:59):
bring him back where it's gonna be the most hostile,
most uncomfortable environment that we can put it in. Because
we can sit here now in December and talk about it.
But in July and August when all this went down,
it was very clear that Roger Goodell was not happy.
He was not comfortable with this guy playing at all
this year. So that's that's what I think. And and
you know, the independent arbitrator was only gonna give it
four games, and then she did not care whether he

(01:36:21):
came back against the Texas or whoever. And the NFL
wanted a year long suspension, so obviously they did not
care Um if he was gonna play against the Texas. Now,
once they decided we'd have to settle in between, twelve
games was going to be the obvious number. You thought
maybe they go eight four, eight, twelve or sixteen. Now
there's a seventeen game season, So no, I don't think

(01:36:43):
they even cared. If it was an easy opponent or
somebody real hard, it would have made appence if he
had to come back against the Kansas City Chiefs. They
weren't going to do the Browns any favorite, So I
don't think it really made a difference whatsoever. What do
you think about UM? By the way, what were your
thoughts on the idea that some of the victims are
going to be in the building. I heard, you know,
a lot of different people talk about I thought LaVar

(01:37:04):
Aarryington brought up an interesting point on two pros and
a cup of Joe is that he thinks it actually
makes Deshaun Watson looks somewhat sympathetic from the perspective that
these women are trying to you know, whether it's you know,
make the story about them or I don't know exactly
what LaVar's argument was. I don't want to put words
in his mouth by any stretch of the imagination, but
I saw him make the argument that he actually thought

(01:37:26):
it makes Deshaun Watson look a little bit sympathetic. Having
these females in the audience tomorrow, Well, I don't think
it makes them looks sympathetic. Um. Obviously what happened to
them is very traumatic, and they want to make sure
that people don't forget it, and they're going to go
into and be brave and and go out there. So
I don't think anything at this point it's gonna make
him look sympathetic, especially at that contract that he got. UM,

(01:37:51):
very few sympathy UH in for him. I really have
to believe that he has UH. And they even reworked
his condor did his contract work that first year. He
wouldn't even lose any money he was making on one year.
So no, I I don't think any of that is
going to uh, you know there there won't be a
lot of sympathy for him, that's for sure, all right,
So what do you what do you expect to see

(01:38:12):
from Deshaun Watson on the field. Obviously has not played
this season, and I think it's worth noting if you remember,
and I know you remember, but I'm for the audience,
is that he did not play last year either. Now,
to be clear, I think some people get this mixed up.
I've heard people in our business get this mixed up.
Last year had nothing to do with these allegations, nothing
to do with the you know, the criminal investigation into
Deshaun Watson. It had everything to do with him demanding

(01:38:34):
a trade and refusing to play for the Houston Texans.
But independent of that, it has been almost two full
calendar years since Deshaun Watson has stepped on a football field.
Would expect to see, Well, if somebody did in the preseason,
it was just putrid um. Looking at the gambling perspective,
I'm taking the Texans plus the points. Looking further at
a gambling perspective, I'm taking the Texans on the money line.

(01:38:57):
I think he's gonna be way rusty. I think it's
one of the best picks of the day. I'm gonna
go ahead and roll the dice and say that the
Texans win the game and I'll take the points. And
if the Shawn Watson looks like he did in preseason,
then it's gonna be a long day for the Browns.
I don't see how there's anything pointing at Hey, here's
a guy that hasn't played in two years, but you're

(01:39:18):
better put your money on him because they're gonna win
on the road. It's always tough to win on the road. Um,
no matter who you are in the NFL. I'm not
buying it. I don't think he's gonna come in in
and you know, everything be clicking right off the bat.
He's always got the practice with the team for what
a week or two. I'm I'm sorry, but I'm I'm
I'm gonna go ahead and go with the Texans in

(01:39:38):
this one. So you think the Texans are gonna get
the w Huh? What do you just think? In general?
I mean, you know, I think it's an interesting dynamic
with Deshaun Watson for all the reasons that I just said.
Is that, on the one hand, you know, the last
time that we saw him statistically it was his best season,
you know, two years ago. I guess it would have
been the COVID season. Um, but he has twenty seven

(01:39:59):
he's too years or most fourteen years in dog years.
You know that, I do. Uh, yeah, that is an
excellent point. I suppose, I don't. I don't really know
where you're going with that. It means one year in
football is like three or four years in regular life.
When you missed two years of the NFL, you're not
just missing two years. It miss it a long time there,
You know that. But couldn't you argue though, that in
the physical sport like the NFL, getting some of that

(01:40:21):
time off might help with longevity. Though, Why didn't you
argue that? Well, maybe with that and maybe your body
is gonna be health here. But um, we certainly saw
his ability in the preseason game and he looked horrible. Yeah,
you heal your body, but you lose your skills a
little bit. So So what do you I know you
you said that you expect that the Texans to get

(01:40:43):
the outright win tomorrow. What do you expect for de
Shaun Watson? Just big picture for the remainder of the
season and go I'm curious to see if I'm off
face on that. Well, as Bernie, I'm wondering what the
money is coming in. Are people just not betting the game?
Are people going out of the way to bet the Texans?
Is it just such a bad game anyway? Nobody bets
on games like that. Do they feel like they're getting
an advantage? I'm curious to see the gamblers will bet

(01:41:05):
on anything, you know that, Aaron, if they feel like
they're getting an advantage on the number. So UM, I'm
kind of curious to see where Bernie is gonna be
coming across on this. Well, Bernie will be joining us
in about forty five minutes from now, uh, and we'll
come back and we'll discuss not only this, but some
of the other big storylines in this week, uh, this
week in the NFL. But before we do, let's toss

(01:41:26):
it over the news desk again. Let's get to Steve
to Sagre with what's trying to get this hour? What's up?
We'll get to college football at a moment, including the
Michigan and Clemson wins tonight. But while we're talking NFL,
Texans wide receiver Brandon Cooks is out this weekend with
a calf injury. Houston hosts Cleveland. Brown's tight end David
and Joeku Down He's out with a knee injury. Chargers
wide receiver Mike Williams out again with his ankle injury.

(01:41:47):
Chargers play at Las Vegas running back Joe mix In,
and the Bengals is still in concussion protocol. Cincinnati plays
tomorrow against Kansas City. The Bengals had said that wide
receiver Jamaar Chase is on track to return from a
hippie injury on Sunday. Minnesota could clinch its division on
Sunday with a win and Alliance loss. By the way,
Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson led the fan vote so

(01:42:09):
far for the Pro Bowl. Just added the Chiefs Patrick
Mahomes and Travis Kelsey. NFL players and coaches are going
to cast their Pro Bowl votes December six. I looked
this up. The Pro Bowl Flag football game will be
in Vegas on February five. Tickets are thirty five dollars.
Initially you think, wait, NFL something, tickets are early thirty
five dollars, and then you have to say it again

(01:42:30):
out loud. Tickets to see a flag football game are
thirty five dollars. If you if the Pro Bowl was
in your town and someone gave you tickets, would you
go because I wouldn't go. I wouldn't because the parking
is probably thirty five dollars free parking and free tickets
to say, okay, well, then I could just eat and
have a good time for it. If I was doing

(01:42:51):
a little body surfing, i'd watch from the water. Maybe
if it was at the beach. Did they play the
Pro Bowl at I think they're gonna do to the
stadium and stuff flag football at the beach? Was playing
that football? Yeah? A few years running back Jets running

(01:43:12):
back Michael Carter doubtful for Sunday with a sprained ankle.
Jets play at Minnesota forty. Niners wide receiver Deebo Samuel
was questionable with the Bruce sty San Francisco host. Miami
Giants wide receiver Kenny Galladay listed as questionable now due
to illness. And while we're talking about ticket prices, are
you aware that college Football's National Championship game is going
to be at the L. A. Ram Stadium this season,

(01:43:34):
the same place that hosted the Super Bowl a season ago. Well,
I've looked it up. There are hundreds of upper level
tickets still available for the National Championship game on January nine.
The prices start at one thousand dollars for upper level tickets.
That includes your ticket master fees. One thousand and seventy

(01:43:57):
one dollars. Is the absolute cheapest, is not the student
price or that's the cheapest upper level and that's upper
level road twenty two of the upper level. Yikes, is
all I gotta say. And before we find out the
final playoff rankings tomorrow morning for some of us and
all the bull matches, I don't like it. Well, they

(01:44:19):
got to do it before the NFL starts, because that's
king in this country. But we assume Georgia will be
number one, and therefore Georgia's semifinal will be in Atlanta
in the same stadium where they won today, because the
Peach Bowl is one of the semifinals this year, and
keep in mind the college semifinals are on New Year's
Eve this year, So it'll be Georgia in Atlanta, which
would mean number two Michigan gets the other game, which

(01:44:41):
is the Fiesta Bowl. Michigan, ranked number two, won the
Big Ten tonight forty three two over Purdue, Michigan was
only up by a point at the half. Georgia also
thirteen and oh Bulldogs beat l s U fifty two
thirty in Atlanta to win the SEC. Number three TCU
was undefeated but lost in overtime to number ten and
the State in the Big Twelve Championship, and Clemson won

(01:45:04):
the a c C thirty nine to ten over North Carolina,
The Athletic pointing out that the last six a c
C title games, mostly with Clemson, have been decided by
an average of over thirty points, and Clemson won by
almost thirty in this game tonight. I know we had
other stuff to get to, but Dabbo waiting until after
they played themselves out of the playoff to play who

(01:45:25):
was clearly the better quarterback. Like that's abominable. I mean,
I get you're trying to defend your your your veteran quarterback.
You got eighty four other guys in the locker room
that you owe it to. It's unbelieving. I saw by
the way in the post game he said something about, oh,
he wasn't ready, and you know that they put him
in for one play against Notre Dame and then they
pulled him and it's like, I don't know, it's an
all time game. You know these days, don't coaches kind

(01:45:47):
of wet the beak of the player, the old expression,
give him a little something, a little bit of time
something so that they don't transfer think of transferring. By
the way, what were the ratings last time we had
this the semmis on New Year's e Uh, they were
lower than when they were. They were horrible. They're horrible. Well,
this your New Year's He've done a Saturday though, that's
why they're doing it. Yeah, yeah, you're right, that is

(01:46:09):
the reason, because you're going to get a weekend. But
you're correct, darnie. It's not as good as the regular
college football time slots. UH. Two Lane beat Central Florida,
by the way for the American Conference championship, and Dion
Sanders is officially the new head coach at Colorado. And
in college basketball, finally number one Houston did win playing
in Fort Worth. It beat St. Mary's fifty three to

(01:46:31):
forty eight. We will certainly have more college football to
discuss in about ten minutes, including a little more Ondon,
a little more on the playoff, and on something that
happened not only at Dion's game, but at George's game.
Ten minutes from now. Very good to sing. Well, we
look forward to bring you back in about ten minutes.
This is Fox Sports Radio aeron Torres Arnie Span. You're

(01:46:53):
here on a Saturday night, live from the entire dot
Com studios Sunday morning out there on the East Coast already. Really,
I just want to get to some other things, you know,
next hour we'll kind of preview the slate as a whole,
but I just kind of want to ask you about
a few different things going on in the NFL. First
of all, you live in New England. Everybody knows you
live up in Vermont. Thursday night, Buffalo handily takes care

(01:47:14):
of the Patriots. The Patriots score touchdown midway through the
first quarter, then don't score again until late in the fourth.
What is the buzz on the Patriot? I don't ask
you every time, but it's like, at what point, Like,
I don't Bill Belichick won a bunch of Super Bowls
with Tom Brady, but Tom Brady's gone and this this
organization has kind of gone in the take ever since then. Yeah,
I think I think we're at that point now, Aaron, Um,

(01:47:35):
right now it's been a couple of years since Tom
has been gone, the laws on what was it, Thursday
days are just blending together. Um. The Laws on Thursday
was just just just horrible in the way that they
just look so bland offensively that they really never even
had a chance against Buffalo. And now they're not gonna

(01:47:55):
go ahead and make the playoffs this year. It's so
it's certainly good to go ahead and happen that. A
I think right now you started hearing all the rumors.
I really believe Plankett. I run this first a couple
of weeks ago, when we're talking about Tom Brady and saying,
you know, he may not come back to Tampa. At
what point I would consider would be going back home
to to the Patriots. I'm saying, you know he's divorced. Now, Um,

(01:48:19):
you know, you want to go back to where there's
some familiar familiarity. You want to go back where you
were successful, you want to go back where you were loved,
You want to go back where there's a possible opening.
And I think all those uh check the boxes. Does
Belichick want him back? I think so. I think Belichick

(01:48:39):
would take him back for a year or two. I
know Robert Kraft would certainly take him back. So those
rumors of him going back, I don't think they're so
far fetched. But um, I think the fans would drive
down the Tampa and drive Tom Brady back to to
Boston if they could. I I think it's a win
win situation for everybody. I I don't think he's gonna finish.

(01:48:59):
His were in Tampa, so I don't think you'll finish either. UM.
I do think it's interesting that basically all the same,
like like, the reason Tom Brady left was because it
was basically like it is now where he had no help.
And I remember, you know, I've said it many times
that you know, you and I were on air in
this time slot when he threw that pick six against
the Titans and we said, well it's over for Brady.

(01:49:19):
He's washed up. Well, he wasn't washed up, he just
had no help around him. He goes to Tampa, he
has Mike Evans, all the guys that we know that
he had, and immediately went to Super Bowl. So I
guess that would be my only question, Arnie, is there's
a reason he left New England. It was because the
front office, specifically the head coach, who also doubles is
the GM, was doing nothing to get you help. So
I didn't know they didn't want him though Belichick didn't

(01:49:42):
want him really. Remember when he went to Robert Kraft's
house and UM wanted to talk to Robert, they were
pushing him out are As far as I'm concerned, they
didn't want him anymore, so he went ahead and went
somewhere else. I think they would welcome him back, though
maybe Belichick is so stubborn. Um He's like, hey, he's gone,
it's time to move on. But it's obviously mac Jones

(01:50:04):
is not the answer, so they're gonna have to find
another quarterback somewhere, and Tom Brady to be a perfect
bridge quarterback for the next couple of years. I have
no doubt about that. So I know this is probably
something that's a bigger picture thing that we probably shouldn't
try to squeeze in here right before we get back
to the saga for the extended update. But I'll just
ask you real quick, Belichick's legacy is it tarnished like

(01:50:26):
in New England? I mean, because you know, the greatest
coach of all times six Super Bowls. He's hasn't done
very much of anything without Tom Brady, and I would
add tom Brady going to Tampa Bay winning one with
Bruce Arians. I think it damages Belichick's legacy a little bit.
I'm not really I don't know if it damages it
or tarnishes it, but I think people do realize that

(01:50:47):
a lot of his success has come from Tom Brady. Um,
there's no arguing that right now. So I don't think
it hurts. You know, it's like, oh, you're just a
big nobody. Um, obviously you still have to be somewhat
of a football genius to win all those Super Bowls.
But I think people realize that Tom Brady was the

(01:51:07):
reason why Bill Belichick one those Um, it was the
Tom Brady Express and Belichick just happened to be conducting,
is what happened. I don't disagree on a lot of that.
And yeah, it is an interesting time in New England,
no doubt. Fox Sports Radio Aaron Torres, Arnie Spanier in
for Jason Martin coming up to Saga, rejoins us and

(01:51:28):
he's got a doozy of a story. Controversy at the
SEC Championship Game had nothing to do with Georgia or
L s U. Disaga explains the next Fox Sports Radio
Welcome back everybody, Fox Sports Radio. Aaron Torres Arnie Spanier
is in for Jason Martin here on a Saturday night,
and as we do every Saturday around this time, we

(01:51:50):
toss it over the news desk to Saga as an
extended update. What do you got for us to Saga? Well,
a lot about it, about Georgia and about Atlanta. We
mentioned it was looking like Georgia will play at semifinal
in Atlanta on New Year's Eve. Everything will be official tomorrow.
But number one Georgia beat up L s U in
Atlanta today to win the SEC title fifty to thirty.
Just before halftime, it was a Georgia elite of thirty

(01:52:10):
five to seven. Stetson Bennett four touchdown passes in the
first half Georgia's first touchdown. Did you see the return
of the blocked fuel goal where everybody stopped and he
just picked up in L s You did have over
five hundred yards passing in this game, by the way,
three turnovers as well, But Georgia wins even though their
top receiver Lad mcconky did have it come out at

(01:52:32):
one point because of what his coach called tendonitis in
his knees, that it was a continuation of knee issues
he's had for much of the season. L s U
starting QB Jaden Daniels was injured during the game, replaced
by backup Garrett no Smier. But the yeah, they went
up with thirty points. For what it's worth. I mean,
if you pass for five hundred yards against Georgia, that's
something at least to hang your head on. But the

(01:52:54):
controversy at halftime, ladies and gentlemen, because you see many
times at these conference title games the sponsored contest with
two students trying to throw the football into the circle
of the sponsors soda can, the inflatable soda can, and
a chance to win some really big tuition money. So

(01:53:14):
fans wound up booing at the Georgia game in Atlanta
the way this thing went because there was a tie
between the two students, one of them from Baylor, and
so they went to overtime throwing against each other again,
and then they tied again, and then they just declared
the student from the state of Texas the winner, and
people started booing, and they say Okay, she wins the

(01:53:35):
hundred thousand dollars tuition and the runner up gets twenty
tho dollars in tuition, and then the CBS broadcaster at
halftime says something about, well she won an earlier tiebreaker,
and then there was a sponsor statement saying she had
the most points in the preliminary round. People talked about
it the show before you tonight was still talking about it.
They did announce during the fourth quarter of the telecast

(01:53:58):
the sponsor is going to gift both students with a
hundred thousand dollars. There you go. I was waiting for
that to happen once there was a die. I was
waiting for somebody to step up and go, we're both
gonna get a hundred grand. I mean for grand a lot.
It's Dr Pepper, you got the money. We do this
every year. Yeah. So I'm like, I couldn't understand why

(01:54:22):
they just didn't give it awarded to both, especially after
they finished tied the second time. But the one girl
was jumping up and down, said well, maybe I didn't
keep tracking, but it was only fifteen seconds. She knew
that old you had to do was tie um bad
way to do this. She got bad, But I'm glad
they're stepping up and given both girls a hundred thousand
for their education. You know, college football, once we get

(01:54:42):
to too many overtimes, you don't get full drive. I
think we gotta end this. That was a serious conversation
in that Big twelve championship game that I saw a
lot of people saying. It's like, if this game, which
could potentially decide a playoff birth ends on that awful
overtime double like it overtime or third overtime, they go

(01:55:02):
to just two point conversions, not like you after you score,
you get a two point conversion, it's already a partial
drive that Case State got stopped on in the first
place in overtime, Right, you're starting at you're starting in
field goal range, Kansas State stop t see you twice
at the one yard line when the quarterback was running

(01:55:23):
for I'm not a big like blame the play calling guy,
but when, yeah, when Max Duggan is literally just U
sane bowl up and down the field and you decide
to just take the ball out of his hands, I
thought that was very weird. Yeah, if he had fifteen carries,
hundred ten yards and a touchdowns, and I know he
was exhausted. I don't recall him calling a time out

(01:55:43):
for him at the end. By the way, still made
it into overtime. But anyway, the halftime at the SEC
is over, so our long national nightmare is over. And
then the official news tonight in college football the Dion
Sanders is the new head coach at Colorado news conference tomorrow.
I looked it up. Colorado's opening game game next year
is at TCU. I'm not doing say at Arizona or

(01:56:05):
something like that. No, it's actually even better than that.
So of course, yeah, exactly how often do we have
to say this this this is Arizona except for this week,
this is Arizona basketball. This is a Arizona football To say,
I just can't imagine ruining for a team that can't
even make a bowl game. You know, wow, I have

(01:56:28):
something on that at the moment. But while we're talking about,
of course, his last game was that SWAT game against
Southern today and at halftime, of course you're gonna have
a battle of a band. So the guy taking the
microphone at halftime for Southern University kind of called him out, like, hey,
Jackson coach, he says on the pr that's great, love

(01:56:59):
it or leaves the sweat very quickly. Well, yes, we
have talked about Yukon actually being Bowl eligible in football
this year, Ladies and gentlemen, New Mexico State is now
Bowl eligible. How did they get there? They played a
replacement game today because they had another canceled on their schedule,
so they got a special waiver. Not only that this

(01:57:21):
would count, but a game against a team that's not
in the FBS would count. Today they hosted Valparaiso and
beat them sixty five to three. It counts, and then
I'm sure they have a great play for the final
seconds of the game, but Valparaiso punted twelve times. Attendance
was fifteen thousand fans in Los Cruises, the home team,

(01:57:43):
and under twenty minutes time of possession had over six
hundred yards in this game. One way or another. They
need teams to fill up. The Bulls will find out
all the bowl matchups tomorrow. Keep in mind, we have
forty three postseason games including the playoffs, so yeah, there
are spots to fill. Next Saturday, it's Army versus Navy
in Philadelphia, and then the bowl games start the next weekend.

(01:58:05):
Next Saturday night, the Heisman Trophy will be awarded and
from the pros, the Rams place quarterback Matthew Stafford on
injured reserve today. It's not the concussion he had cleared protocol.
It's a neck injury, so not expecting to see him
again this season. Quarterback John Wolford will be starting tomorrow
against Seattle. And we talked about Alabama earlier. Jamison Williams

(01:58:26):
from Obama. Remember he got torn a c L in
the National Title Game a year ago. We haven't seen
him in the pros and he was a first round
pick of the Lions. Jamison Williams, wide receiver, will make
his NFL debut tomorrow. Also, the Ravens elevated wide receiver
to Shawn Jackson for tomorrow's game against Denver. Lamar Jackson
due to start at quarterback. He practiced fully the previous

(01:58:47):
couple of days. Broncos activated running back Mike Boone. The
Bear signed quarterback Nathan Peterman from the practice squad. Because
QB Trevor Simeon is out for the year, Justin Field
should be starting. He returned to full practice this week
after the bad shoulder. Thank you very much. Steve the Sager,
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday Aaron Torres, Arnie Spanier.
That was the saga with his extended update. As we

(01:59:08):
get every Saturday into Sunday. Around this time, coming up,
we transition full time to the NFL Preview the weekend ahead,
and of course Bernie Fratto joins us. He's got a
lot of good stuff on Vegas odds for not only
in the NFL, but college football as well. Eron Torres
Arnie Spanier, Fox Sports Radio. Welcome in everybody our four
Fox Sports Radio Aeron Torres, Arnie Spanier. We are broadcasting

(01:59:30):
live from the ti rack dot com studios. Tirac dot
com will help you get there and unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection and over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tire rack dot com The way tire buying
should be. Arnie Spanier in for Jason Martin. We learned
earlier in the day. By the way, Arnie, your middle
name is ti I Rack, which I thought that's kind

(01:59:51):
of cool. Yeah. I well, I have two Broncos and
a Cherokee, so I put out those big Gnarlie tires
on him. I research it's like a year on what
kind of die without a full year, But I wanted
to see what kind of tires I wanted to put
on them. I'll take pictures of him. I love it, man,
I especially we get a lot of snow up here
in Vermont, so you need those those type of tires thereon. Well,

(02:00:12):
that's why you go to tirac dot com. I haven't
been gone that way before they became a sponsor on
the show. But real quick, I know we're stopped, we're
done with college football. But I've been following Twitter, and
I guess there's a growing wall of support for TCU
to be number three. I've seen that. Yeah, so that

(02:00:33):
tc so that Ohio State in Michigan would not have
a rematch and it would be Michigan in TCU, Georgia
in Ohio State. That's not fair to Georgia though, um.
But then again, this is not really about being unfair
to what gives you the best matchups and what gives
you the best ratings. I would say, though, that's not

(02:00:54):
fair to Georgia. But um, I don't think TCU was
deserving of the number three. Well, you know, it's it's
interesting because again it goes back to the conversation. We
led the show with right, um, you know you and
Ryan Foller trying to tell me that BAMA is one
of the four best teams, and I said, well, what
is the actual data point that we have? And so
on paper you would think that, yes, it's unfair to Georgia.

(02:01:15):
But you know again, what is Ohio State really done
to prove that they're definitively better than Michigan or then TCU?
Excuse me, now, I would argue, see now, I actually
this is one that I do agree with you on
because at this point, here's what we have to do. Right,
we have to say TCU is a one loss team
that did not win their conference. Okay, So then you

(02:01:37):
go to, okay, well, if TCU is a one loss
nonconference champion, so is Ohio State. Well, who is Ohio
State's loss against? Well, it was against Michigan, who's number two?
I would argue Ohio State has the better loss. I
would Ohio argue better. Well, I don't know about this year, man,
nobody was really good besides Michigan and Ohio State in

(02:01:59):
that league. Penn State, I guess, but that's what I
was gonna say. Ohio State's best win on the road
at Penn State. TCU is probably their best win is
against Kansas State, frankly, which they just lost too. So
that's one that I'm actually agreeing with you on is
that I I think tc should be in over Obama.
But I think when you're talking about number three, I think, actually,

(02:02:20):
because TCU isn't a conference champion, we have to compare
them as a one loss non champion to Ohio State
as a one loss non champion. I think Ohio States
resume is better. I know what everybody's trying to do. Aaron,
of course they don't want Michigan and Ohio State in
the rematch in the semifinals. Does that make it forget
about who deserves to be number three? Whether it was
tc Ohio State, does it matter to you? Would you

(02:02:42):
want to go out of your ways as supposed you
could put TCU at number three? Would that be better?
Would ratings be higher if it was a rematch in
the semis with Michigan, Ohiose States. I can see what
people are trying to do. I'm just not so sure.
Like NOL with Alabama got in. How great would it
be if you had one SEC team against the big
ten team SEC against the Big ten team. But then again,

(02:03:03):
if you get a sweep of the Big ten or SEC,
it's all in for the championship. So there's no perfect system.
But I can see why they wanted to go ahead
and put TCU at at number three. So um, but
it wouldn't it wouldn't bother me if it's Ohio State
in Michigan in the semifinals. Yeah, I think it'd be awesome,
you know. I mean, obviously, we're coming off of a
Final four in basketball where you had Duke in North

(02:03:24):
Carolina in the Final four, but not the championship game.
It's still read for a great game. And I think
to me, you know, you talked about what's fair, what's
not fair. I just think that you look at the resume,
you look at the talent. If you want to then
bring in the point spreads. I think you know, TCU
on paper is the least talented team in terms of
the vegas you know, metrics and stuff. So I'm with you.

(02:03:47):
I've seen a lot of people now making the push
for TCU at number three, and you know, I don't
know if it's just because you know now we're pretty
far removed, but here. Here's the other thing, aren'tie. You know,
it seemed like most people seem to agree with us
earlier in the day that Michigan would be to TC,
Ohio State would be three, TC would be four. Doesn't
in the Michigan domination of Purdue, and they did dominate,

(02:04:10):
I mean it was you know, end up being a
twenty one point final score was never really in question.
Doesn't that almost revalidate Ohio State losing? As in oh
that Michigan team is really good, Like like if you
knew they were really good before game, Well, no, But
what I'm saying is like, if TCU loses on the
final play, you know, maybe Michigan wins by a field goal,
and then all of a sudden you're sitting there saying, wait,

(02:04:30):
Ohio State got destroyed by this Michigan team at home
last week, you know what I'm saying. So like, like
it would be one thing if Michigan struggled and then
all of a sudden that that dominant went over Ohio State.
Doesn't look as good for Michigan and it looks worse
for Ohio State. I just don't know what happened. From
the time we got on air at Tenant at ten
pm Eastern, when it seemed pretty universal that TCU should
be the number four team in Ohio State at number three, well,

(02:04:52):
I I just agree with you that if um um,
if there was any way they could put TCU at
number three, they would be doing it strictly because of
ratings and perfect matchups and stuff like that. I don't
think they could pull it. It didn't work out that way.
Michigan did have a good victorygans Perdue, Ohio State should
be the solid number three. It was always between TCU

(02:05:12):
and maybe Alabama for number four, So I I would say, unfortunately,
they're not gonna get that matchup. And I think what
they're worried about is that Georgia TCU blowout, which I
think is going to be the case here, and then
ratings are gonna be down, but we don't care about rating.
I think what they're worried about. And I don't know
if worried is the right word, but you know, you
can avoid the the Michigan Ohio State rematch, like I

(02:05:35):
think that's part of it, and then you're basically setting
yourself up for a nice scenario where you know you
potentially get Michigan House State in the championship game, you
potentially get Georgia Michigan in the championship game. Um So
I think that to me, you know, without having a
total understanding, I do think they try to avoid rematches
when it's at all possible. Um So, I think to
me that's probably what it is. Is. The argument would be, well,

(02:05:57):
we saw how State Michigan. But again, you know, when
you're comparing TCU as a non champion with one loss,
that's a lot. That's a lot different than them winning today.
Does this matter? Does this make a difference also on
who should get the last spot? Tc wasn't ranked in
the when the season of me God, I mean they
had to do some serious, serious climbing. Alabama was what

(02:06:21):
inside the top two or something. I don't know if
they were number one this or not, but they were
up there. They didn't have to do anything to get
to their position. Um like TCU ad but I don't
think that really should play a factor this at all.
You're lucky, You're you're lucky you're working with me and
not Jason Martin. This is one of his big things,
is it really? I don't know, No, he hates preseason rankings.
And his argument is you're just because because then it

(02:06:43):
it you know, unfairly exkews everything, you know, like how
we viewed a team in August before they played a game,
unfairly excused the rest of the season, right, So, like
you know, I I don't know, like you know, I
can't think of a good example right now. But like
Texas A and M was, you know, they kept staying
ranked because somebody decided in August that they're good. Now,

(02:07:05):
eventually they lost so much that they were out. But
you know, TC, you start so far behind the eight
ball that you know, we really should wait for um,
we really probably should wait until October. I think it
was like five six weeks when the first one originally
came out. I don't know where they were at that point,
so we'd have to go back and take a look
at that all right, really quickly, UM, NFL a lot

(02:07:29):
of a lot of intriguing games tomorrow, Arnie. UM, just
we'll get to a few. Now, we'll get to a
few after we have Bernie on here in a minute.
By the way, Bernie has already texted me he's got
a lot of good stuff on potentially spreads yes, So
all right, So tomorrow there's a couple of big games. UM,
let's start with the rematch of the a f C
Championship game last year Casey and and Cincinnati. They're playing

(02:07:50):
in Cincinnati. It's worth noting they played two really good
games last year. Um, it wasn't just that a f
C Championship game in Kansas City, but the game in
which Kansas City or the game in which Cincinnati excuse me,
actually clinched the a f C was in Cincinnati against
k C. Uh and that was I think kind of
the game that it felt like, Okay, Cincinnati's really arrived,

(02:08:11):
like they're they're a real threat now. But it is
obviously the first matchup since that a f C Championship game.
Casey got out to a big lead, they blow the lead,
Cincinnati wins in overtown. What are your quick thoughts on
this one? Cincinnati wins winners of five of the last six.
They've won three in a row. Matter if you go
back and take away those three in a row, they
were what a uh what was the record like four
and five or something like that or three and four,

(02:08:34):
excuse me. So it wasn't like it was gonna be
a great season. They've kind of turned to a round.
But the three wins Panthers, Steelers, Uh, Titans UM, nothing
to write at home about. Though the Titans certainly are
a little bit better than the other two. This is
a little bit different. Obviously, you're stepping up way up
in class when you're taking on Kansas City. Chase will
be back, so that's a perfect timing there. I don't

(02:08:56):
know how healthy he'll be or how much of a
difference maker he'll be. I worry about Cincinnati. Um, there's
certainly not the team they were last year. Burrow not
quite having the season he had last year. I don't
think they beat the Chiefs in this one, but I
do think it's going to be a close game. Cincinnati
lucky that they got the victimy against the Titans their

(02:09:18):
seven and four, so they don't get hurt too bad
if they don't win this game against Kansas City. Aaron,
let me ask you dumb question. Um, So one of
my big kind of quote unquote hot takes coming into
the year. I thought Casey would take a step back
without Tyreek Hill. Um. I'm kind of blown away that
they haven't missed a beat. Now they still have obviously,
Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey, all that I thought Tyreek Hill

(02:09:39):
was so good, such a difference maker, such a deep threat,
that I thought they were going to be negatively impacted.
Are you at all surprised with with how it doesn't
seem as though they missed Tyreek Hill at all? Arn'ty,
They're not negatively impact. But yes, he makes a huge
difference because look at this um. He went from the
Chiefs to the Dolphins. Look at the Dolphins right now,

(02:10:01):
they're what maybe the second best team in the NFL.
Some people think that they could go toe to toe
with the Kansas City Chiefs, and that's based on the
pickup of Tyreek Kale. So you know, maybe it does
make it. Ever, if the Dolphins played the Chiefs in
the a f C Championship and the Dolphins win that game,
that he does have a negative impact on what happened

(02:10:22):
with Kansas City, But no. As for what's going on
with the passing game, Mahomes, you know, look two is
the one that's leading. I believe in yardage, so are
not yardage and passing rating. But there's nobody like Mahomes.
There's no doubt and he he's maybe missed the slight beap,
but you can't notice it. Losing Tyreek Hill did hurt
a little bit, that's for sure. Well, I'm I'm you know,

(02:10:45):
I'll readily admit I'm surprised, in borderline kind of amazed
at how good they've been. Now, obviously the division hasn't
been as good as we expected, but I mean, Arnie,
you look at who they've beaten this year. I mean,
it's it's unbelievable. You know that was part of it too,
as you looked at this schedule in the preseason and
it was like every game they were playing was against
a team that made the playoffs last year. Now, some
of them have disappointed, like the Rams last week. I

(02:11:07):
get that, but they've already beaten the Chargers twice. They
beat the Cardinals before we realized the Cardinals were bad.
They beat Tampa Bay. Uh, they beat San Francisco, they
beat Tennessee, they beat the again, the Rams last last week.
So I just I guess what I would say is,
I don't mean to like the labor the point here,
but I'm just very impressed by how they haven't missed
a beat. It feels like Mahomes has taken his game too.

(02:11:29):
I don't want to say another level, because I mean
he threw for fifty touchdowns one year winning an m
v P. But I don't know, man, I'm just I'm
a little bit surprised as they head into that one already.
You know, I thought it was gonna go backwards a
little bit too. But that was based on the division
being a lot better than it is right now. Um,
that division isn't even nearly as good. You know, some
people who even talked about maybe all four teams going
to the playoffs from that division not the case. Um,

(02:11:52):
not nearly the case. So it was, um, a big
drop in that division. There's certainly no doubt about that.
That was part of my argument mean as well, was
that the division was gonna be so good it was
just gonna be harder to get wins. Uh. And yeah,
I was dead wrong on that. Fox Sports, Yeah, I
I know, us, I gotta I gotta take the L,

what's up man, guys? Before we get to all the
Alabama and playoff stuff and I got a ton of it?
Can I please get something off my chest about soccer? Okay? Look,
if I had a nickel for every time they said
this is finally our ear Elon Musk would be more

(02:13:18):
in Milan nobody remembers. Nobody remembers. Back in two thousand two,
the USA got to the knockout round, even though they
didn't win a game. Somehow they beat Mexico. They advanced
to the quarterfinals, lose to Germany one nothing, so we're
one goal away from the final four, and everybody's like, ah,
here we go. Right. Well, since then, the United States

(02:13:40):
has three wins, six losses, and six draws. We lost
a gonea twice, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Germany, you name it. Okay, guys,
were we are what we are. Hats off, you did
your best. They don't care. And what was Someday we
can do a whole thing about this. My daughter played
Division one soccer. They don't care. If they cared we
in the World Cup, then let me jump in there, Bernie,

(02:14:02):
because that was the sentiment from some people. And you
know soccer way better than I do. Oh, it's the
young it's the second youngest team in the World Cup.
That's being the US tour building towards. I guess it
would be, Bernie. I I agree with you. There's a
reason the SEC wins the championship every year in football.
Their fans care more. The commitment is there. I get

(02:14:22):
the sense from most US fans We're gonna talk about
it today and we move on to our NFL teams
tomorrow and forget about it till the next World Cup.
Do you believe that this team is just oh, you know,
they're super young, blah blah blah blah blah. Are things
gonna be any different in six or in the future,
or is this the U s is lot in in soccer?
This is their lot in soccer. We can we can

(02:14:43):
go much deeper. Next time we talked week, I'll devote
a whole thing to it. I covered the World Cup
in ninety four the games. The four games were at
the Silver Dome. I saw the USA thy Switzerland. It
was fabulous, unbelievable event, and I've covered all of them.
But that doesn't mean we're gonna win a World Cup.
This is it, this is who we are, and and

(02:15:04):
we'll have to just be good with that. Okay, comrade,
let's go ahead. Oh you're you're making it. You're making
it sound like I'm rooting for that to happen? Are
you according to our list? But I'll still get together
later have some Vokan Borsh you're not gonna change my buying.
I love it. Let's get to some college football. What

(02:15:24):
what's going to be the four teams one through four
in one order when we find out tomorrow? Yeah, I
know all this Alabama talk is a lot of fodder
and fun, but it's bull vine scatology. They lost two games. Okay, guys,
you know it. We all know it. TCU has got
a much better resume. It's going to be uh Georgia one,
Michigan too. I believe it's going to be uh Michigan.

(02:15:47):
We I just said that Alabama Georgia one, Michigan too.
I believe it's gonna be TCU three and then Ohio
State four. Why do you believe this is all opinion?
You know? But already and I kind of of the show.
I think we were both in the consensus that Ohio
State would be three. And it seems as though the
census consensus seems to be flipping. What makes you think

(02:16:08):
that tc would get the nod at three? A Bubbahu
states because there's this fallacy. The teams simply look better
because they didn't play a game. Uh TCU beat everybody
on their schedule. They were twelve and oh TCU beat
five top twenty five teams. How many to do? How
State beat didn't? Okay? I mean Georgia and Michigan before

(02:16:29):
today combined had only beaten four. And if you compare
resumes between UH, TCU and and Alabama, TCU strength of
record is number two, Obama's is number five. Uh. There's
a whole bunch of numbers. I'm not gonna bore the
listeners with I believe TCU will be three because they
have the better resume. Bernie college football, which teams had

(02:16:51):
the most future? Is? Bet on them? We'll see. This
is what's interesting about Alabama. After Michigan lost, or check
that after Michigan eat Ohio State last UH Saturday. For
some reason, the Ohio State Buckeyes were the most heavily
bet team in the betting markets to win the national championship.

(02:17:12):
They were fifty to one last Saturday when Michigan House
State kicked off. By Tuesday they were fourteen to one.
By Thursday they were ten to one. Now their plus
seven fifty Why I don't know, but the bottom line
is is that people really love this, you know, Alabama team,
and they're the most heavily bet group. And you know,

(02:17:33):
Nick Saban should win an Academy Award tonight. You know,
they're the best supporting actor to go on a halftime
show talk about his team. You know. And and listen,
I heard the thing with Ryan Fowler. He's right that
Alabama would be favored over most of the teams in
the field, not everybody. Okay, the wouldn't be favorite over Georgia.
They would be a five point underdog against Georgia. They'd

(02:17:54):
be favored by one over Michigan. They'd be a pick
up against the House State. They'd be favoritebody about six
over TCU. But USC was favored last night. How did
that workout? Tc was favorite today. What Ryan doesn't know
is that the betting line is not a predictor. It
has nothing to do with predicting the future. We're not
into fortune telling or anything like that. It's about the
books putting up a line where they can draw equal

(02:18:17):
actions so they can minimize risk and maximize action. Look,
we've got to give the committee a little bit of credit.
It's hard to do that. I realized they don't make
a lot of sense. I don't know how some of
these people around the committee. I think one of the
guys runs the Brail Institute and the other seves time share,
and one guy's working for Crypto. I don't know what
the hell. I don't know how you wish, asked Arnie,
but he was unavailable tonight. Unfore exactly, Arnie, you don't

(02:18:39):
want to be part of that group anyway. I don't
know what's gonna happen when we wake up tomorrow. That's
the problem, Okay, I'm just telling you what I think.
I mean anything Bob Yukert wants. He had a home
run off Sandy Kolefax, so anything could happened, I suppose.
But I do think logic tells us that the committee,
if passed this prologue, they've never put a two lost
team in and they're not going to start Sunday burn

(02:19:02):
anything before we get to some NFL World Cup. Anything
else about college football stand out or anything you know
that you kind of see with potential matchups that we
haven't discussed, well, I think you're you'll probably see Georgia
and Ohio State, and I think Georgia will be most
likely probably of six point favorite over Ohiuse State, and

(02:19:23):
I think you can see Michigan about a six point
favorite over over TCU. I think you if I don't know,
this TCU team is really good. Man. That offense can
move the ball against Michigan. Uh, they got some magic
dust again, they beat everybody under schedule. I think we
have a very flawed system when you have a situation
where you go through your entire schedule and as a reward,

(02:19:43):
you get to play an extra game against an opponent
you've already beat and if you don't beat them, you're penalized.
While neither ohiuse State in or Alabama who were on
the right to be in that extra game can move
up without having to do anything watching the game on
the couch. So I think this TCU team is very dangerous,
but gun to mine. I think we could see a
Georgia Michigan final. Georgia would probably laying about seven in

(02:20:04):
that game. Anyone's got over to the NFL. You've got
a new trend growing, so I'll get us aboard that train.
And what's happening out there. Yeah, this one's been great, guys,
but it's been around for a while. If you look
at all the games after November one, what you've got
to look at is the wind, not the rain. Not.
The snow wind is what kills the passing game. So
if you look at the weather, and you just have

(02:20:24):
to go to NFL weather dot com, anybody can see it.
On game day, if you find a game where wins
they're more than twenty miles an hour, this is important.
And the total is thirty nine or above, this is
gonna go under seventy two percent of the time. The
aggregate number of average points in those games after November
one in the last twenty years has been thirty eight.

(02:20:45):
It's already hit three times since November one, you know.
Case in point. Last week, Campa Bay was at Cleveland.
The win was twenty five, the total was forty two.
Now it landed on forty, but it had to go
over time just to get to forty. The game is
never in danger of going over. So watch that trend
so far this week. I checked the weather. None of them,

(02:21:05):
none of them really applied, you know, Bertie, I just
don't one particular game. We were talking about this earlier,
Deshaun Watson coming back. I like the Texas plus the points.
I like the Texas on the money line, I don't
even know what the money line is. I just don't
think the Shaun Watson can come back after two years
and be right on. Well, what are they saying that
Vegas about this game? The line is uh is uh.

(02:21:27):
It's minus eight. Cleveland's up to minus eate, so a
lot of Cleveland money has come in. It's more of
a fate against Houston. It's a stay away game for me.
I think you're gonna have a couple of clunky offenses, frankly,
and Cleveland's defense is pretty good. I've looked at the
total of forty six and a half. Now. The game
will be played in pretty good conditions down there in Houston.
But I would lean under in that game. I wouldn't

(02:21:48):
have anything to do with either side because you really
don't know what you're gonna get out of the Shawn Watson.
He didn't look great in the preseason. I can't imagine
he's going to have to adjust to the speed of
the game pretty quickly and he's not going to be
able to do that. And I actually think it's gonna
be a very partisan crowd. Uh. You know who's a lawyer,
Buzz whatever his name is. He's gonna have the ten

(02:22:09):
planiffs there that then had sued him and I think
Watson is not going to get a great ovation, so
it would be a little bit, a little bit of
a tough environment. It will probably be a little bit
of an ugly game, so I wouldn't look to the
side and look at the under He's Bernie Frittoy. Can
hear him at the top of the hour the Bernie
Fratto Show. Of course, Bartie, you host on Friday nights
to what is that two to six Eastern as well
on Friday nights it's a two to five Eastern, eleven

(02:22:30):
pm to two am, three hours on Friday night, four
hours on Saturday night. We appreciate your time, Bernie. We
will be listening at the top of the hour, and
of course we'll be following on Twitter. Remember as well, Bernie,
appreciate the time. Thanks for having me. Guys. I want
to move out to Vegas with Burnet. I don't know
if you can like stay with like when you say

(02:22:52):
with him, like, do you mean like in his house?
Like are you gonna be like he's got a big
I'm sure he's got a man. Should everybody use a
gamble in Vegas? Got mangins? Are you gonna be like
the quirky roommate that lives in the basement or what. Yeah,
just give you the basement. I'm sure it's nice, and
wouldn't you love to living. You go to Vegas a lot,
your mom lives there. I was there for Thanksgiving. I'm
actually going out next week for a basketball game. I

(02:23:13):
can't get out for the Arizona Indiana game, but I'm
going out for one day to catch a couple of
games and then yeah, I'll be there. Up. Whatever you
tell me to bet, I'll bet the opposite. Okay, thank you,
thank you very much. All right, Well, we'll wrap the
show get to some of the other Week thirteen NFL
games momentarily before we do, though, final time this evening
to saga what's up? I'm glad Bernie mentioned the weather

(02:23:34):
for the NFL because those Dolphins that somebody on this
show might like are in the Bay Area against the
forty Niners tomorrow. California has had rain and we'll have more.
It's not supposed to rain during the game, certainly before
the games. I don't know what the field conditions are
gonna be like. Anything would be better than the old
cattle Stick Park does not exist anymore. The Bears home

(02:23:57):
game against the Packers is going to be the coldest
one tomorrow, sunny and temperature in the thirties and NFL
games with the temperature of a round forty at the
New York Giants at Philadelphia, at Baltimore tomorrow at Cincinnati
as well. And we mentioned earlier in the show the
Rams place quarterback Matthew Stafford on injured reserve with the
neck injury. We'll see if we even see him for

(02:24:19):
the rest of the season. The way the Rams are
going well for college football, the final playoff rankings come
out tomorrow and all of the bowl matchups. We assume
it'll be USC against Tulane in the Cotton Bowls since
SC lost for a second time, there's going to be
a great match. Last night, TU Lane won the American
Conference on its home field in New Orleans today. In fact,

(02:24:40):
it led number twenty two ranks Central Florida with under
ten minutes left the final. Tulane had about six hundred
fifty yards of offense, so that should be nice against
USC defense to Lane's defense with six second all start.
What happened, Yeah, maybe a little later than they were

(02:25:01):
very recently a to win team, as Eric called Tu
Lane ranked in the top twenty eleven and two, and
I looked it up to Lane one at Kansas State
in September with a late touchdown. Of course, then they
lost to Southern midst and lost to UCF regular season.
But tou Lane is a top twenty team if it's
USC against Tulane and the Cotton Bowl, Utah of course

(02:25:21):
in the Rose Bowl apparently against Penn State, but nothing's
official till tomorrow. And what if the Orange Bowl is
really orange this year? Could be Clemson Tennessee. And if
Alabama is not in the top four, then we assumed
Bama would be the SEC team in the Sugar Bowl
and maybe against Kansas State, which was already a top
ten team before the Overton Bowl. That's right the insight.

(02:25:45):
Kansas State in overtime beat number three TCU to win
the Big twelve thirty one, and TCU had tied it
up with a touchdown two point conversion with under two
minutes left in regulation. The case State stopped him twice
at the one yard line in overtime and later one
the game on a field goal. Number two Michigan took
the Big ten tonight only a one point halftime lead.
Against Purdue, but Michigan wins forty two. With star running

(02:26:08):
back Blake Coreum out for the season he had his
knee surgery. Donovan Edwards a hundred eighty five yards rushing
in a touchdown tonight. Number one Georgia is like Michigan
thirteen and oh. Georgia whipped l s U fifty two
thirty in Atlanta to win the SEC Championship game. Clemson
took the a C C thirty nine to ten over
North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Drake May three turnovers, Cade

(02:26:31):
club Nick off the bench, Clemson quarterback two seventy nine
yards and a touchdown. Troy on its home field won
the Sun Belt led thirty one nothing against Coastal Carolina
just before halftime to final. Coastal's record is three and
three in the last month and a half or so.
In fact, they got killed at James Madison last week.

(02:26:53):
Fresno State was at Boise State for the Mountain West Championship.
Boise was eight and oh in conference regular season in
law sst at home today to sixteen. Each team now
nine and four, and the MAC Championship game was in
Detroit at the Lions Stadium. Attendants fifteen thousand. Nearby Toledo
beat Ohio U seventeen seven. This is a Toledo team

(02:27:14):
that had lost three of its last five games, and
in September Toledo lost at Ohio State seventy seven to
one and then lost at San Diego State. On top
of that, Toledo your MAC Conference champion. Next Saturday night,
the Heisman Trophy will be awarded the finalists due to
be announced on Monday after the voting deadline passes. Dion
Sanders is officially the new head coach at Colorado news

(02:27:37):
conference tomorrow. At the World Cup, the Round of sixteen
started with the Netherlands eliminating the US three to one,
even though the Americans outshot him seventeen to eleven. The
Netherlands had that goal right before halftime for a two
nothing lead and went on to the win Argentina to
one over Australia. Leonel Messi scored in the thirty fifth minute.
And tomorrow both France and England play. If they each win,

(02:27:58):
France will face in Glenn in a quarterfinal next Saturday.
Brazil plays its Round of sixteen game Monday on Fox TV.
NBA Portland won the late game at Utah one sixteen
to one eleven Anthony Simons forty five points, NHL wins
for Boston and New Jersey again, and in college hoops
number one Houston over St. Mary's fifty three eight. Back

(02:28:20):
to you, by the way, I got your email and
the answer is no, you can't have the day off tomorrow,
so be at work and tomorrow. Never asked for a
Sunday night. Oh that's why you're not getting unless they
flex a game to Sunurday, which is you know that
Dolphins game got flex to prime time. Yes, you should

(02:28:41):
be that game. I should. It's more affordable than when
that stadium hosts the college football National Championship game in
a few weeks. As we talked about it earlier in
the show, cheap seats a thousand dollars in the over
level for the ram Stadium, you could afford it. I
was gonna say, it's funny you guys are talking about
this because you know the I just for fun that
the rumors in speculation are that Yukon's going to the

(02:29:03):
Book of a Tone Bull, which I know you guys
are riveted by. I was literally googling flights to Sager
during your don't. Don't think tours is making a to
to the What what if they were in the Bahamas Bowl? Oh,
I don't know if I have a passport that's valid
but it's been taken. Did you do any construction and

(02:29:24):
guitar that we don't know about. No, your passport expires
after a certain yea ten years? Yeah, yeah, like ten years.
My gosh, Well listen, I don't know that it's too bad.
That book is a lovely area for Lauderdale. Great too, if,
of course, the price to expedite your passport will probably
be equal to the price of the Bowl tickets, so

(02:29:46):
you probably don't want to go through. I don't think
they're going to I don't think they're going to the Bahamas,
but that would be one that would be one I
might have to check out. But anyway, yes, so no,
so Arnie's not going to the forty nine Dolphins game tomorrow,
and I don't think I'm going to the too far
from me. I mean, it's only like across country, so
real quick, let's switch gears. Aren't it this perfect segue?
I mean it's you know, just natural radio. It is

(02:30:07):
a great game, you know, I'm I'm I like San Francisco.
I'm a Jimmy G guy, and I like to I
think this has been a fun season. I understand the
argument of, oh, you know, a lot of guys would
look good with Tyreek Hill and a lot of guys
will look good with Jalen Waddle. But they're winning games.
Obviously it's a very competitive division. But this is you know,
it's funny, right. Like we talked about Cincinnati case earlier

(02:30:30):
in the show. I would argue to me, this is
the most exciting game on the schedule. What do you
think of that one? It's I mean, definitely important. Dolphins
of four and half port and underdog. I like the
Dolphins suppus to points. You know what, he was saying
that there was gonna be possible weather problems over rain. Um.
I don't know how that's going to affect the turf
of it. Um. You would think that that's an advantage
for Tyreek Hill. It's hard enough to cover the guy

(02:30:50):
yet alone slipping and slide and he knows where he's going.
You don't know where he's going. Uh. It's an important
game for the Dolphins if they want to win the division.
They can't be fully by and the Buffalo Bills by
more than the game. Right now, they're what they're eight
and three, the Bills are nine and three, so I
think they have is that what it is? After? Yeah,

(02:31:12):
the Dolphins I think are a half game behind the
Bills or something like that. You just have to keep
in touch with them. And and the Bills have a
pretty easy schedule the rest of the way. The Dolphins
not so easy. UM, So they have to start getting
the wins and you know, taking him against tough teams.
They've had a real easy schedule un till now, so
now it's when they start getting a lot of harder
How about this is an important game there, Aaron. That's

(02:31:34):
a brutal back end of the schedule for the Dolphins
at San Francisco this week, at the Chargers next week.
So I wonder if they just stay out on the
West coast, that will be a Sunday night. I was
thinking about that. I thought I would. I probably would
if I was them, And then they play at Buffalo
after that, then they play Green Bay at home on
Christmas Day, and then they play at New England Jets

(02:31:54):
to close the season. So you got too bad weather
games between um at Buffalo at buff and at the Patriots. Right,
so you get too bad weather games you're get in
San Francisco, You're getting the Chargers. It's it's gonna be tough.
There's no doubt about that. So you know you gotta
go ahead and start with wins against teams like San Francisco,
which is gonna be tough enough to begin with. They are,

(02:32:17):
as you said, a half a game behind uh Buffalo,
who obviously already played this week on Thursday, you know,
staying in that division. Another interesting game, New York Football
Jets at the Minnesota vi Games. Monster game, absolutely, monster,
huge game. So any what are your thoughts? Well, not
so much for Minnesota. They gonna win the division, whether
clinch it, clinch it tomorrow or the following week or
whenever they're going to win it. Jets obviously now want

(02:32:39):
to get a win here. Move another game up above
the Patriots, who dropped the six and six. The Jets
would go to eight and four, so they would have
a two game lead on the Patriots, which would be key.
Um So, I mean, my goodness, it's a monster game
for them. I don't think they just gonna keep up now.
I don't think, um that making the change of quarterback.

(02:33:02):
Uh is gonna go ahead and make them win a
division or anything like that, But it had to be done.
There's no doubt about that. They look so much better offensively.
A matter of fact, this Jets team scared me what
I saw last week. I wouldn't want to play them
in the playoffs as a wild card team after what
I saw them last week. But going into Minnesota that's
a whole different story. They won't be able to keep

(02:33:23):
up with them offensively. I love I think it's one
of my best picks of the decade. I love the
Vikings minus three against the Jets in this one. Some
would call Arnie Spaniard Zach Wilson of radio just egotistic.
Where where I'm Mike White. I'm the team player, you know,
I do whatever it needs to be done to UH
have a good show. Well, they did exactly what they
had to do. He had to go. I don't know

(02:33:44):
where he's gonna end up next year, but it's not
gonna be with the New York Jets. Talking about Zach Wilson, um,
who have to go somewhere. Uh, He's not a starting
quarterback in this thing. There's no doubt about that. I
don't disagree. Arnie just gave you one of his best
bets of the decades. I everybody had my pick of
the game two weeks ago. I hit my pick of
the decade. So this is maybe my pick of the

(02:34:05):
twenty five year part something like the Centurion is something
like that Silver Anniversary something like that. Wow, I don't
know alright. Fox Sports Radio Erranturs Arni Spanier, one segment left,
come back, make our picks for week thirteen in the NFL.

But yes, Rny, it was fun. It was a pleasure
to have you back. Was it fun to come back
on a little Saturday night here? You know you must

(02:35:06):
be breaking up. I can't hear what you're asking, so
let's let's get to the game. So oh, yes, of
course it was how to blast. It was a good time,
of course, just like old Yeah, exactly that. That was
like a Kawhi Leonard. Alright, Roberto, give us a little music,
put us in the mood already. Since you are the
guests today, the floor is yours. Give us your best

(02:35:27):
bet of the weekend. And I told you by pick
of the decade, maybe by pick of the century. I
love the Minnesota Vikings. I don't know why the bets
are on the Jets. And something that I said on
the money line of the Jets, I think it's a
small number the way with Minnesota. There obviously have been
clicking all year, much better offense, just look better offensively
when they made the JJ quarterback last week. But now

(02:35:47):
they go on the road. How much can you really trust? White?
Gotta give me Minnesota. Small line minus three opened up
at three and a half down the three. Don't know
why I'll take Minnesota minus three in this one. All right,
I'm gonna take a little bit of an obscure game.
Is my best bet of the day. Detroit minus one
at home against Jacksonville. I like the Lions. First of all,
Jamison Williams is back the first round pick, as the

(02:36:08):
saker told us. But more importantly, Arnie, you know the Jacks.
We keep waiting for them to make this like big, big,
big leap. They're coming off that big win against Baltimore.
I don't believe that it's sustainable. I think it was
a one off deal going on the road. The Lions
get to win. I'm gonna go to my Miami Dolphins.
You know I'm all over that. Now you're gonna get
four and a half points. This line opened up if

(02:36:31):
I was correct at about three and a half. Now
you're gonna get four and a half. Don't know why
all the money coming in on San Francisco. Um. Matter
of fact, seventy percent of the bets against the line
canna begin on the Dolphins, but it's fifty fifty on
the on the money line there. Dolphins have shown that
they could play against good teams, and San Francisco is
a good team. San Francisco doesn't scare me offensively, they

(02:36:54):
have a fantastic defense. They've done a great job in
the second half. But I like the points in this
one may come down to a field goal. Give me
the Dolphins plus the four and a half. All right,
I'm gonna give a little bit of an obscure one.
And this is what they call a hold your nose special.
In the NFL, Los Angeles Rams open as a three
point underdog at home against Seattle. It is now up

(02:37:17):
to seven point. Seattle is the favorite. I'm rolling with
your boy, Arnie, Bryce Perkins, the Rams. I'm doing it.
I'm doing it. Don't like it? Why just they're just
looking so bad? I mean, really, they've pretty much seven
point home against the Seahawks. I'm rolling with Bryce Perkins,

(02:37:40):
who got all right? I'm gonna go with the Dallas Cowboys.
My Cowboys. Um, they look like a team that could
compete for a Super Bowl. They're a tending that point
favorite over the culture. It was opened up at eight
and a half. A lot of people jumped on the
cowboy bandwagon. They're getting fifty four percent of the money
are the beds on it? Those sixty percent of the

(02:38:03):
money like coming in on the Colts. That's based on
the odds. We love the Cowboys minus ten and a
half really quickly. Do you have any thoughts on Packers
with a banged up Aaron Rodgers at Chicago? I'm I
like Chicago and this one I'm not gonna take the
excuse me. I like the Packers in this one minus
a five and a half. Um, I'm just not sure

(02:38:25):
what I'm gonna get with Chicago, and I think Green
Bay will eventually bounce back. In this one. The Ravens
who can't close out games against the Broncos, who can't
do pretty much anything right, you gotta I'm staying away
from that, but if I was gonna take it, I
like Denver plus the points in this very good. Did
you give us a pick on Casey Cincinnati. I'm gonna
go with Kansas City and this one and lay the
point very good. It's time for us to get out

(02:38:46):
of here. Want to thank the crew, producer Bo Roberto
