It's almost here. It's almost here. After a week of waiting,

(00:24):
It's this has been the longest week ever, but finally,
finally we are almost here to the a f C
and NFC championship games. Sunday is kickoff and we're almost,
Like I said, it's Fox Sports Football Saturday. But but
but but tomorrow, around this time, we will have figured
out at least one of them. And let's get into
the NFC first to start this thing out. All right,

(00:46):
you got the Eagles, Jalen Hurts. They looked incredibly impressive
their last time out, demolishing the New York Giants, which
was probably a benefit for the Giants and that sense
because now he's like, all right, we gotta probably gotta
get better to move on. You know what I'm saying? That.
Like you like to say, the Jimmy's and the Joe's,
we're not there. Uh in the gi Yeah, they don't

(01:07):
have so you gotta get better. You gotta improve. However,
the Eagles have one of the best rosters in football,
and so to the forty Niners, and I think that's
probably why we're seeing them in the conference championship game. Yeah,
not only that. What's going on everybody out there? Fox
Sports Radio, what's going on? Baby? How you're doing? Man? Man,
I'm not gonna lie. It's stressful. It has been. Man.
I was depressed. I'mna everybody know, I'm I'm actually have

(01:27):
a lot of energy, really really happy. I'm actually depressed today. Man.
I woke up this morning and I realized, for the
first Saturday since since August We're on January, since August,
the first Saturday there was absolutely nothing to do with
the sport of football on television world. Why I was

(01:53):
so depressed. I kicked my side out of bed this morning,
locked the bedroom door tall right now, hey, look take
him take journey'all, make breakfast whatever whatever. I literally laid
in bed until eleven fifteen this morning, Dead Series. I
was really depressed. Bro because football, like you're saying, like
we're here, like and it's still great games tomorrow, this
is big tomorrow. We in my opinion, we have the

(02:14):
four best teams in the NFL left. We have the
four best clear cut teams in the NFL left, And
you always don't get that when it comes to championship Sunday.
We have that tomorrow. But man, was today tough. I
watched the little college hoops, you know, and prepped for
the show and play with my daughter, put her down
for a nap, man, Like I was chilling with Journey
most of the morning. I didn't do nothing. But oh

(02:36):
my god, man, you're you're right. It's the president today.
But tomorrow, by this time, when no one of the
teams that will be represented represented Super Bowl their conference
in the Super Bowl tomorrow. So uh, with the Eagles
in and and and the Niners in this game, but
with the Eagles, like you said last week, man, they
just looked like a machine. They look like the Eagles
we've been seeing all year long. That's why I hope
and I still think he has a very good shot

(02:58):
that still win m VP, because in the games he
is out my homes. I don't think separated himself one game,
you do three in exceptions of the game, me do
an exception and lost the fumbles. They have five turnovers
in those games where he didn't word, you know, he
could have really taken the stranglehold of it. And then
of course the ago did look good last week. I
know people say it's the regular season the war. Yeah,
if that's the case, then why y'all waiting all the
way to like April at the Honors to give out

(03:19):
to give out the the MVP Award. But the running
game looked good. Um, very weary though, of uh a
of a j you know, talking about I don't think
you want that type of talk at this point in
the year. And and to say I'm not a diva,
but I want the ball, well, I and see the
thing is, I don't want to back at it, but

(03:41):
I wouldn't want this type of talk as far as
I'm if I'm an Eagles teammate on office defense, special teams,
the trainer to dude that fills up the Gatoray buckets,
any of that. I just need all positivity right now
because we're step away from going to our second Super
Bowl in the last five years and we can hang
up to banners in the last five or six years
in NFL history, I'll be a Super Bowl champ. So

(04:03):
I I didn't really like that too much, but I
like the way everything else is going, like the way
Jalen hurts. Look, you and I were talking about we
were watching the game, doing the game live, uh the
second half of our show last week, where as I said,
you you want to go one on one with these
receivers and these tight ends. Good luck, Like these guys
are good, and jayl is good. He put his shoulder
down on a couple of runs. We all know he's not,
but he he ran as Listen, I'm okay enough to

(04:25):
play three more games. And all I gotta do is
play three more games and then I can rest all
off season. I just gotta get through these three got
through one. We have San Francisco Philly tomorrow and then
hopefully uh the Super Bowl for them in two weeks
February twelve. So I was very impressed with the way
they look in and on the Giants really fast. You
made a comment last week about um Brian Dable getting

(04:45):
guys paid, and two days after that game, where did
the Giant's front office come out and say we're moving
forward with Daniel Jones, who's gonna be a free agent.
So he so he's gonna get I don't think he's
gonna get astronomical money. I think he'll get to when
he five to thirty million a year. But he wasn't
gonna get that. That's not I mean, that's what I mean.

(05:06):
Obviously you're turning million, you're doing pretty well for yourself,
but also in the market of that, you're doing well
for yourself as well. New York Giants. Yeah, exactly, thank you.
If you're the Giants front office, you're like, hey, we
ain't gotta get forty fifties sixty. Article came out this
week that people think Burrow and uh and who else
would be? I just Brown, another quarterback would be up
where they can they could kind of look at and

(05:27):
command say yeah, I up hurts there. Yeah, so you're
getting a deal with with Daniel Jones. But if you're
the Giant, just to take away, listen, you had a
great year. You ran into a bus ault. You ran
too the best team, one of the best team in
my opinion, if not the best team in the league,
and on the road to the playoffs. You gotta playoff
one against Minnesota. This is what it is. This is
the process. Get to the off season, us your draft picks,

(05:48):
get guys back, make some different moves, and sut back
up in August and let's go at it again. So
you know, kudos didn't But Philly man like a machine. Bro.
I think Philly, I'm I think they can win it all.
I think they have that type of team. I mean
they're in the conference championship. You know, man. You know what, though,

(06:09):
it really is starting to get to people with no football.
Let me tell you something, b J. He took me
an hour to get up here. Yeah, tell me what.
It could be an hour from Inglewood to Sherman Oaks.
But I know this is you know, if you're not
in southern California, may not hit. But it's only thirteen
miles I traveled right now. Generally should take you by
half an hour forty five minutes, and it took me
a solid hour. I barely made it in. And the

(06:32):
reason why, if you can hear my votes voicing, you're
on the four or five near some pop the pass,
get off, buddy, because you're gonna be there for a minute.
There is a woman hanging from the speed limit sign
in the middle of the freeway. This is a sixth
lane freeway going north dance south. There's twelve lanes of
traffic here, and you know what, cops just sitting there

(06:55):
with the lights on. I'm like, well, you gonna get
this woman, go get her out of here, and so
I could get to work, you know, but joined the
show too clearly as week as we can see, we
need some distractions here, we need the picture. Well here's
the thing. And now we're in the radio, so it
doesn't do justice. And we are five seventy today, so
people that are driving and listening to five seven am,
they can't hear us right now. I was just listening

(07:16):
to uh to Hartman. So we are on. There's no
other games, the Clipper games, nothing to interrupt us. So
we are on locally in l A. Of course, also
I R radio app and Fox Sports Radio on the app.
But the picture is what had me wrote. If you
see the picture, it's like why, Like she's got both arms,
like she's hugging, hug She's hugging like it was like
a weird kind of like if it was in a

(07:38):
strip club, it would have made a ton of sense.
But it's three thirty in the afternoon, in the middle
of the sup over the past, like there's like remember
when the thing called on fire a few years back,
when it was like he was literally right at that
spot where it was like, you know, the Getty centers
right there. But anyway, anyway, I tweeted it out at
Martin White on Twitter. Uh, first to tweeted out of
you know. And it's always trying to get that out

(08:00):
of the four or five whether you're coming into the
valley or you're leaving a valley. That's why when I
used to work outside of the valley, I used to
hate leaving at certain times today because I know it
may be clear as you get further down towards Corbora City,
but I know trying to get I call it up
and over the hill as you leave the valley, or
if you're coming into the valley going up the hill,
it's always traffic for some reason. If you don't live
out air trust me, man, you come visit. I'm telling

(08:21):
you listen, you need an hour to get to the valley.
We call it a hill, it is a mountain. I
called it up and down. I ride my bike over it.
All that time. I lived around mountains before, so I've
seen a real mountain. That's not that's trust me. That's
not a mountain. That's a hill. It's like seven feet
up in the air. That's not. That's not a mountain. Anyway. Yeah,
I've seen, oh my god, a football anyway, brock Purty,

(08:48):
here you go. Not just hey, look, you know I'm
waiting for the marrow, right. I mean, he didn't play,
you know, I'm but I'm not even gonna mention that
because they won. But he didn't see how I get down.
I know, I know, but that's not enough for me.
I need to watch him it tormented. I need Philly, listen.
I need Philly to go all and on showing this
young buck. Yeah you've had a nice little run, bro

(09:08):
this is but this is the NFL. So I can
look at Marty White's my partner, who I like, I
could staring right in his face. Two weeks ago. I
told her I am going to be insufferable. I just
I tried to play nice. You wanna play nice? I
think that's interesting to me about the forty Niners offense, though,
when you looked at the way the Cowboys were uh

(09:31):
defending them every boot It felt like every rollout Michael
Parsons are are Lawrence was just in rock parties, lap
in his face, like wearing his face mask. I mean
like there was no separation there. And it's I wonder
how it will be in Philly if they're gonna be
able because you know, Philly, don't get me wrong, defense

(09:52):
across the board is high level, right, but they don't
have them the Mica parton Hassan Redd because he's rushing
the edge. I mean, he's a rus and he's great,
don't get me wrong, But we're talking about Michael Parsons here.
You know, we're talking about one of the fastest d
n's in the sport, right, you know, one of the
fastest players on the field in general. At defensive one
play where he ram part and Party down on the
bootleg brand him down, like bro where are you going?

(10:15):
So I think that's that right there, offensively is what
I'm gonna be interested in seeing. Because here's the deal.
If if we are going to bank on Brock Party
getting us home, we ain't going home, you know what
I'm saying, Like we're banking on Brock Party to come
out have thirty five completions, throw for three hundred yards. Now,

(10:35):
it might look funny at the end of the day
because he had a yacht yards and all that Kiddle McCaffrey,
sitting debo, who was limited, right, all of that, But
ultimately he's got to do the same thing I did
in college. He's gotta show up on time, have a smile.
When the teacher asked you one or two questions, have
one or two answers, right, and then you know what

(10:56):
the other thing you do, well, pick a good group,
pick always, and you know what, always he got the best.
He got the best class he could possibly know. By
the company you key with with I mean with between Kettle,
between McCaffrey, Shamuel, are you you know what I don't
forget brand then you got your boy Jennings out there.
He is running around a good player, right, so I think, uh.

(11:20):
And then also to getting the lodger Mitchell back helps
because now Christian mccarvery that do all the heavy lifting
in terms of in the backfield. But if they're not
gonna be able to run the ball on the Eagles team,
that is going to be a problem. They're in trouble
because the Eagles secondary is veterans right there. They're veterans.
There's guys that make turnovers, create turnovers. I mean, it's yeah,

(11:42):
slave man, come on the big game, slay. You know
he's itching for a party to think that you can
throw that out or you can try to pump fake
and throw that deep post. Bro I'm gonna be all
over that. But I will tell you this, this is
one thing that does worry me about this game for
the Eagles. That can go in favor of the Niners.
I'm picking the Eagle to win. But if the Eagles
defense goes in thinking that they can punk Brock Purdy,

(12:05):
They're gonna be in for a big surprise because I
don't think he's I don't think he's punkable. I think
the kid has got some moxie. I think the kids
got some grape fruits. And I think the kid can
play within the system that he's been playing well and
so he's not I don't think they're gonna scare him.
But you can't out scheme him. You can't be a
very aggressive to him. Back to the game last week
with Dallas, though, you know what was really telling you
said it perfectly. Every time Brock got out on the bootleg,

(12:29):
he was getting chased down mode down. He's just getting mauled.
Back there, he's getting harassed, getting Yeah, he's getting hit
a lot. But when he did straight back drops um
Trent owned Parsons. He oh whenever Parts has had to
just try to rush the pocket he got on the way.
I tell you last week I wanted Parts is all

(12:50):
this l T talk that people was calling me a hater?
Last year, I said, don't you dare mention this man
with the name of Lawrence Taylors just on that point.
There's so many there's a long line way before you
even get the like you're not even Javon Cursed, Like,
you're not Bruce Smith, You're not like come on now,
guys stopped within the comparisons so early in the guy's

(13:11):
career and last year didn't win Defensive Player. There done.
Look he's gonna get it this year. Those awards are
hard to win, so the year you were supposed to
win it, you gotta go win it. But last week
when I wanted out of him was to put his
stamp on the game and wreck the game. If you're Lauren,
if you're the next Lawrence Taylor. You wrecked that game.
You messed that game all up. There's there's there's We

(13:31):
were walking away two years from now going yeah, you guys,
stawt part party was gonna be all that until he
ran into Michael Parsons and Dallas in that playoff. We're
not gonna be able to say that now because he
didn't wreck the game. So I'm looking for a guy
like Slay Tomorrow to wreck the game for the Philly
defense and just put you know, San Francis gonna noticed that.
You You've played some good teams. And then Dallas, look,

(13:52):
da was defense played great? That throws the two pigs.
I mean, I hate to put it on deck, but
he turned the ball over twice, and there's the game.
You know who else needs to to really look inside
in that Dallas situation. That's your general manager, Jerry Jones,
because absolutely here's the dude, because here's my thing. Yeah,
that didn't play great. He didn't play well at all.

(14:14):
In fact, no, no, no, he didn't. He didn't, he didn't.
But and then there's just there's this one, this one
still shot you know on Twitter, everybody has, you know,
they find the one. I'll look at this right, Fred
Warner was lined up in the A gap and carry
Ceedee Lamb down the hash and everybody's like, t Y
Hilton's wide open over there. But I'm like, dude, Fred Warner,

(14:38):
oh pro don't get me wrong, but your number one
receiver is getting checked by a linebacker who was feigning
blitz before the snap up the scene. That's gotta be
one like. That's why I don't that you say he's
got to make that throw. He know there's gotta be separation.
If I'm Ceedee Lamb, I can't get I cannot be
guarded by you, feel you. If I'm Cede Lamb, my

(15:01):
linebacker can't check me, no note at all. And then
look at the other Frase, look at the other If
you look at the other half of it, still that's
t Y Hilton over there. At the start of this
football season, t why Hilton was doing Just like me
and you watching TV and now work, we're thinking, t
why Hilton is going to be you know what I'm saying.
The that was the Odell Beckham uh about I was

(15:25):
about to throw that should they had to just should
they had to just pull the trigger on on Odell
being what you saw, being what we saw last Sunday.
Part of me thinks that Odell couldn't go. Part of
me thinks that you're with me. Okay, I'm with you.
Part of like, there's no logical explanation otherwise, Yeah, just
wasn't he. Wasn't he when when you went to go
do it physical and they worked him out, they looked
in there like, yeah, you you look like a thirty

(15:46):
one year receiver that's had two a C L S. Bro.
That's how you look right now. And we just in
the NFL, Yeah, I got you. I'm with you, but
I just I mean, I look at Dalton Schultz and like,
is he even cracking the list of top three five
tight ends in the NFL? He's gonna get paid? Like it?
I don't know. It's just something to think about as
you're moving forward. You know, Insanity is doing things the

(16:07):
same thing over and over again, expecting a different result,
and just also really quick. Last week I went on
on my show, I did a rant where I think
Dallas's biggest problem is Jered Jones. I think their biggest
issue is Jerry Jones and no one wants to say it,
but it's the true to me that roster has to
improve what Martin and VJ brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

the Year A p Associated Press. All right, I'm gonna
let you add us one. I'll just say that they
got the comeback Player to Year here Sae Kwon Barkley.

(17:55):
I get it, Gino Smith, sort of, I get it,
you know what I mean? Like like generally this is
somebody who got hurt, right, yeah, exactly, Like generally somebody
who got hurting and came back. How is Brandon Graham
not on this list? How is Brandon Graham towards this
sl Brandon Graham it's a year older than me, you know,

(18:16):
Like think about that. I almost spent my coffee. I
have trouble getting about the bed in the morning. Brandon
Graham has double digit sacks, so chasing down quarterbacks, He's
still chasing down quarterback. He's going to have a major
impact in this game. How is he not on the
Combat Player of the Year, even a nominee. And I

(18:40):
do have to say this, A nice guy, A nice
guy caught my dog back once in college. He lived
down the street and he brought the dogs. Told me
that story one he brought your dog back. He told me.
That's very sweet. That's very sweet. A good man as well.
That's all I got to say. Uh you, You, Me
and Christ's usat here talking during the break Man and

(19:02):
NFL Awards and just sports awards period, to me, are
losing its luster by the year. Every single year it
gets worse than worse. I told you before we went
on the air, I will not watch the NBA All
Star Game. I swear I won't. I will continue to
bench watch Sopranos as I started this week, as I
promised you guys I would, and listen, man, hey, bro,
it's real, man, it's real. I'm just I'm at the

(19:24):
last episode around. You're gonna go into the kitchen and
you're gonna tell your wife what's dude, I'm already doing
it right now. Is listening right now? Tweeting back, I'm
already doing it. I'm like, yo, what are you doing?
Forget about it this guy right here. But you know
it's breaking up, break them out, you know, breaking my moon.
I love that stuff, man, because I love the office.
So but I will watch something else other than the

(19:45):
All Star Game because the votes it's crap. The season
awards crap, the NFL awards crap. Like, dude, how are
you doing this? We're just talking about Coach of the Year.
How is Sean McDermott the finalist. You're Vegas picked you
to win it. How are you a finalist for Coach
of the Year and you were picked to win it?
I just don't get this. In comeback player to hear Gino,

(20:06):
I'll walk a little bit more. And because it's it's
come back because he's a former first round draft pick,
he has had playing time, he has been a starter
now this year. He didn't get hurt. Last year he
got bitched, then was the second behind Russell Wilson and
they make the trade for the quarterback of the Denver
bringing me he just beats him on the gamp. So
I don't you know, I'm thinking I think fifty on

(20:28):
him being come come back Player of the Year because
but there's not happened in Seattle. Uh in training camp.
They were neck and neck splitting reps. Drew Lot got Covid,
You're right, he sure did. He shore did third playoff game?
I mean priests a game, right, Covid never heard from him?
You never heard from him again? Wow, damn the vid

(20:49):
a as Kevin Hard said, and you didn't mess around
and got the vid. But yeah, there's not a category
four Gino. So I see why Gino got it because
there's not a category of what he is. Right, you can't.
There's not a been a bit player for so long. Now,
I just started had a great season award, so that's
why I think he's there. But these awards, I'm with you,
do Brandon Graham has been wrecking offensive schemes all season long,

(21:13):
coming off of an a c L at his age,
his age in football, it's a basketball. This is football,
thirty four football, it's like forty two in basketball. It's
like forty five in Baselall like this, it's like being
eighty five in real life for real. It's it's so,
I'm with you, man, but I hold no more. I
don't even care no more. I won't even bring up

(21:34):
awards in my debates. As far as certain players anymore
m v P. I it just to me, it just
doesn't even matter. Even Aaron Rodgers, right, he's one of
the last two m vps. But I thought last year
should have went to Tom Brady. But that's you know,
but you're splitting hairs when you're looking at the yards
and the percentage in the QBR and the effective on
third down with five or more yards to complete a

(21:56):
pass or how many passive complete for first down, all
that stuff. All y'all started nerding us to death. You know,
the dork is um is in sports heavy and it
affects these awards. Man. Yeah, you know, I'll be trying
to make up my own little yeah dor the dork
is ms man, the dork isms. That's that's the numbers
that the analytics. Get that out of my face. I'm
old school man, I'm forty five years old. I'm old

(22:17):
school man. What happened? Put the table on, Get these
numbers out of my face. So I'm with you on
the awards, bro. The only thing I have my biggest
hang of about, like the analytics thing, is people use
that as a crutch to make terrible play, to make
stupid Oh my god, it's what I have to say
the coach, Sam, I don't you want to say, I'm
saying no, no, no, no, no, no no, he didn't
have analytics. There you go, yeah, yeah, there you go.

(22:39):
That guy. That guy goes for it. He has his
moment sometimes with like but the thing is just analytics.
It's just like, bro, call a better play, like you know,
like you call a good play callor good play. Then
maybe maybe we're not maybe we're not asking you in
the postgame press conference what happened on fourth down there?

(23:00):
Because you would have converted the fourth down? Yeah. But
you know what, though I have I would I would
have a hard time believing that Hardball even knows what
analytics is. He's he's a football john. He talks about
all the time, especially and going for two. But I
don't know about Jim. N't know about Jim. Jim still
drinks milk with steak. Okay, I don't think. I think

(23:20):
he's just a hard nosed football football type guy. That
doesn't I believe there are still older coaches that don't
give a damn about analytics. Dude, that's as a young
influx of you know, the way sports is now like basketball? Right, Oh,
if you shoot more threes. Dude, that's dumb. That's dumb.
If you shoot more threes, did more layups, that's stupid.

(23:41):
But there's people who they'll they'll go buy it. Well,
it's just you know whatever, we're not here playing mass
playing Yeah, thank you. It's not like I don't even
know when to go for two. I'm always surprised when
they say, well, yeah, it's third quarter, right, five minute
more going for two, and you hear the commentator say yeah,
because right now, Dan alytics say no, dude, kick the

(24:01):
extra You still got a quarter and a half to play.
Kick the extra point and just depend on your team
to score more times and hold your defense to hold
to what are we doing? The analytics are telling me
it's time to bring Steve to seger in here guy
to update us on everything that's going around the world
of sports. Steve, what's trying to my friends? Well, we'll
start with the NBA because in Philadelphia today, Joel Ebad

the eleven games Boston having a SUPERB season is tied
one one in the second period at Florida Arena. Sabolenka

(25:30):

(26:35):
and one, beat Minnesota Jacksonville beat Dallas. Beat the Giants
won the division by two games over Dallas, and then
beat Dallas in the divisional playoffs. Back to you, thanks
Steve Martin and VJ. Coming to you live from the
tirect dot com studios. J Ben Simmons has on the
most ridiculous jacket I've seen at least, you know, and

(26:58):
I've been to Vegas twice so far. Here's and so,
just to put it in perspective, these kids dress, it's
that is it's a leopard or cheetah print. I don't
know which one. Do you think of this? It looks
more leopard, It looks more leopard, but it's more tigerish orange. So,
but the leopard has a you know, a brighter yellowish
type coat, and so those cheetahs that almost looks like

(27:18):
a tiger. Like maybe it's a cheetah leopard tiger combination thing,
you know that some stylists gave him and told them about.
And okay, fine, I'll buy it, you know, for thirty
tho dollars and then I'll wear it on the sideline
and everybody will see me. I missed the days, I
really do. Man. I'm starting to miss the days of
I believe in pro sports, especially if you're on the
sideline in the NBA, you should have to wear sports coat.

(27:41):
You don't have to do. You don't have to wear
a shirt and tie because a sports coat with a
V neck t and your chain on, it's that's how
I dress when I go out and I'm partying and
I'm on my grown man, I do not wear college shirts.
I'm I get hot, and I damn sure don't wear
a tie. But I have blazers for your butt, Like
I got blazers that that that I in the room
is like, okay, he about something. And some slacks and

(28:03):
you can even were still wear sneakers. Now you still
throw some all white Air Force ones on with some
slacks and a blazer and and a white tea underneath
your black suit blazer, and you still look in business, casual, professional,
but you're still fresh. You know what. I just don't.
I don't get it. You know what I can't stand
And it makes you. It makes me feel like like
the old guy or something. Do it, yo, do it?

(28:23):
You're an NBA coach put on a freaking suit. Yeah
they do, but they let them do that. Yeah, I
don't care. It's weird. It's over there. I can't tell
who the assistant is first to coach, you know, I
can tell the coaches because he's the one standing. That's it.
Put on a tie and you know what else too,
it looks like a tournament. Well, you know, also to

(28:44):
like it was. I don't want to set this say
it like Nick Nurse has style. Like when you watch
Nick Nurse, Like that guy Nick Nurse, he has he
has style. And when you look at the different some
of the different things that you wear. And I think
that the way that he presents himself or when when

(29:05):
he was when he was dressing himself right, the way
that he was presenting himself would give me a cost.
It would make me feel good if he was if
he was my coach. You know what I'm saying. You're
put together. You look you're not losing it. The leader,
the leader. Yeah, you're well put together. Your tie matches,
your jacket. Okay, your hair was combed. You know what
I'm saying, got a little product, and you look like

(29:28):
you're on TV. You look like you're worth a million.
You look like you're worth millions of dollars like you are. Okay,
all right, I just can't this ain't football. Okay, we're
inside playing basketball. Put on a dog on, put on
a dog on hair if I could also really quit? Now,
you know the two guys that really started to swag,
Like coaches wore suits in the sixties, seventies and eighties,

(29:50):
But in the eighties there are two guys that came
along that started getting like tailor made named and initials
on the cuff of his sleeve and the cuffling and
things like that. Was pat Riley and Chuck Daily. Yeah,
they the Pistons. When you watch that Bad Boy, you
watch The Bad Boy for thirty, they talk about how
they used to call him John Guy, like they used

(30:10):
to thought, yeah, that's John Guy. That's big smooth right there,
because they said all his suits were tailored. And Isaiah
Thomas is quoted as saying, it made us go out
and get suits. It made us go out and to
your point, it made us go out and start to
get tailor. Like everything you wear it's tailor, so it
looks it's fit for you, so it looks good. Everybody
come out of the rack. Rack don't look good on everybody.

(30:31):
You know what I'm saying. You might got a little belly.
You might got some mambooze. It's not gonna look right on.
Especially we're talking about NBA players, of which you are,
but almost all of them above sixty, all of them
more than punds like yeah, like like they don't make
them off the rack. But I tell you, boy, Chuck
Daily and pat riley Man, and they get that. They

(30:52):
get that comb back, going that cone, they comb that
hair bag, get that product in. They're going looking, like
you said, look good. My mother used to always say,
you look look. Don't dress for the job that you have.
You dress for the job in the career that you want.
And people see that stuff. You know what Jerry Rice
used to say, Man, if you if you if you
look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you
play good. If you play good, they pay good. He

(31:14):
wasn't wrong, No, not at all. How about did you
see him? Uh? What was that? It was the Divisional
round game? Obviously the Cowboys and uh the Cowboys in
the Niners. That that Jerry Rice talking about people can't
dress Yeah nah, yeah, Lord of mercy, they did. You
need to change? Did like all of that? Yeah? You know,

(31:34):
and it's and it's sometimes you just get reminded that,
like this dude is just a country, you know what
I'm saying, Like you're just reminded that this guy is
from They're just reminded that, you know what I mean,
Jerry reminds me of a guy who still and I
think they all wish they still could play, but they
don't all show up and act like they still could play.

(31:55):
Like Jerry's the guy that shows up and wants to
run routes in pregames with his slacks on, takes his
jacket off and stuff, And I get it, but it's
at some point, dude, just show up and be on
the side and just be cool your legend. You got
four rings, you ain't you ain't gonna you ain't gonna
go out here and do nothing. Man, Bro, I'd show up.
I'd be a fly on the wall. Some of these players.

(32:15):
Did you see Warren Sapp at the Bucks Dallas game?
Show up? Like what? Like, Bro, what do you? What
do you? What are you wearing? You gotta be your
Warren Sap. You're all of favor. You're one of the
best to probably ever play your certain position. Ever, not
just d life, but the way he played that that
d tackle technique and that Tampa to defense. Nobody in
football history has done it better than Warren Sapp Brush up,

(32:37):
show up like something, man like Martin saying shot like
you know, shot like I'm a Hall of Famer, super
Bowl champion, National champion, University of Miami type guys. So
we will have an opportunity to see Jerry again. The
forty Niners will have a legend on their side. Sunday
in Philadelphia has Hall of Fame. My receiver Jerry Rice
will serve as an honorary captain. Oh wow, Oh so

(32:58):
I'm in now now I'm gonna want to see what
he's wearing. You just said that Rice in his career
five and two against the Eagles seems completely irrelevant to
this moment. It seemed complete irrelevant. It's totally irrelevant to met.
Brian Dawkins will be there for the for the Eagles.

(33:18):
So there you go. We'll talk about a monster a
safety man. Wow, Brian Dawkins. Man, Jesus, when just back
to micro real quick, when we start comparing that's what
gets under my skin. You guys act like you've forgotten
what we've seen in the type of players, like if
their safety in the league right now. That was better
than Brian Dawkins. Tell me right now, is there safety

(33:40):
in the NFL right now? That starts thirty two safeties
you get to pick from. That was better than Brian Dawkins.
So don't tell me there's another Troy, Paula Malu, don't
tell me there's another Ed ed Reid. Don't tell me
there's another Ronnie lit another Steve Atwater. Guys, there's not
There's not even a Brian Dawkins in the NFL. So
the hell is there another Troy? I'm sorry, that just

(34:01):
gets me. Man. You know they got you boy? You
funga is It's just the hair, that's what it's. The hair.
It's and I guess Paula malhu uh like mentward him
or I guess taught him the game of football. But anyway,
Martin and VJ coming to you a liar from the
tirerac dot com studios. Coming up next, we're getting the
Uncle Vj's Corner, Fox Sports Radio. Martin and VJ coming

(34:24):
to your live until ten o'clock Eastern time. Fox Sports
Radio coming to your liar from the tirect Dotcom Studios.
It's everybody's favorite time of the week. It's time for
Uncle Vj's Corner. All right, everybody gather around. It's that
time of the week. Oh man, it's that time of
the day. I've been telling you all. Man, Yes, it's

(34:46):
time for everyone's favorite huncle and you add the cherry
on the top. It's time for Uncle v J's Corner.
Yes as always, man, welcome Mary by the Uncle Vj's
cornerman On, Martin and Vija, y'all come right over here
and have to see it on the bench with me
on the corner. Been sitting here chilling, man, and just

(35:08):
kind of get over my depression. Just no football today.
So I said, you know what, I want to think about?
Something happy. There's a lot going on in the world today.
There was a video release last night or some stuff
that's been happening to citizens by uh civil servants, and
we all know that. So I said, you know what,
I want to brace some happiness. Man. There's a lot
of hurt feelers, a lot of pain out today. So
I am not gonna give out a Vanilla Brother of

(35:29):
the week er where I'm gonna give off a group
Vanilla Brother and Sister award of the week. With Black
History Month, approaching upon us, I said, you know what
I was like to look at black history stats, black
history moments that we don't know about that most people
don't know about. We know about Jackie Robinson in ninety
seven with the Brooklyn Dodgers. We know about Jack Johnson,

(35:51):
first heavyweight champion nineteen o eight, beating Tommy Burns in
the fourteenth round and then held the title for eight years,
Like we know stuff like that. I wanted to dig
a little deeper, man, because when you were trying to
break the color barrier in sports, you must exhibit the
three season it takes to be of Vanua bra and
that has been cool common collective and listen, it ain't
nowhere nears bad? Is it used to be? People used

(36:12):
to fear for their life, couldn't stay in hotels, couldn't
eat in search of certain restaurants with their teammates, and
not every teammate wanted those guys and girls ladies on
their teams at the at the end of the day.
So I'm a sports broadcaster, Martin sports broadcaster, I thought
this one was really cool. Do you guys know the
very first black sports broadcaster was a gentleman by the
name of Jacko Maxwell with W and j R. In

(36:35):
New Jersey and the nineteen thirties, he was known for
interviewing a bunch of major stars. The first black Olympian
I thought that was really cool too. Mr John Baxter
Taylor nineteen o eight was on the gold medal London team.
Checked this event, the sixteen hundred meter relays. They don't
even do that anymore. It's a mile. They don't even

(36:56):
do that, if an anymore. I always gotta show love
to the ladies. This is something I have really recent
The first black female on field official third female overall
in the NFL, Miss Mia Shaka. Congratulations to her for
showing her three season exhibited being cool. Comments collect that
I'm pretty sure it's really hard for not only a woman,
but a black woman to get to where she's got

(37:17):
too right now, so she's gonna get a piece of
this award. Two and one last person I wanted to
bring us one of my favorites man Mr James Cleveland,
and y'all know him Miss Jesse Owens, who won three
gold medals in nineteen thirties six. He's also a Virgo.
Shot to the Virgos. September twelve, on the virgo, so
I just gotta show at my vials. His one hundred
best was ten point three. His best two hundred was
twenty point seven. Ladies and gentlemen, if you think you

(37:39):
have hard times now and you think we are discourse
and division now, think about what these people and these
athletes had to go through back in those days to
break the color barrier to enjoy the sports that we love.
And we have uh today other than no football today.
So that also made me. I was gonna give you
all the football one, but I was upsetting there was
no football today, So you don't get a football one today.
But for all those people that are naming, for all

(38:00):
all my ancestors and all the people that came before
me helped me love sports, Star sports, do what I do.
Do it. Everybody at this illustrious network at Fox Sports does. Man.
We appreciate you guys, We love you guys. And with
Black History Month upon this, let's make sure that we
pay homage to the people that had broken the color
barrier and sports everybody that has done it. You all

(38:20):
are the vanilla brothers and sisters of the week week
week week week. I did not know this just now
Jesse Owens set three world records and tied another in
less than an hour. That attract me to that in Michigan.
You know, the first time I heard about it, Michael

(38:41):
Jordan's references it and his DVD back in the day
called air Time. Michael Jordan actually referenced that record right there.
So Michael Jordan was a man of knowing his his
history and things of that nature. There's we all know.
Like I said, Jackie Robinson is the easy one, but
there's been so many people. Man, there was another one
I found too, Earl Lloyd, Chuck Cooper, and that Sweetwater Clifton.

(39:01):
That's a dopte nicknamed Sweetwater nineteen fifty, the first three
black men to break the color barrier for the National
Basketball Association. Cooper was the first one ever drafted and signed,
and Earl Lloyd played for the Washington Caps, made his
debut against the Rochester Royals back in nineteen fifty. Oh
my goodness, it's on the top of my tongue. But
you got I'm trying to think of the first because

(39:24):
you know, Jackie Robinson was not the first person integrat
professional sports, No, I know, not exact Washington, I believe
Kenny Washington and Woody Strode were the two people that integrated.
And you know what the deal was. Get this, you
know why the Los Angeles Rams signed them, signed these
two black players. So I think I know why wasn't

(39:45):
their Black league? And they wanted to Black league to
compete with the White league, and they figured, okay, well
we'll just take their black players come play with us,
and then we want have to compete with that league.
I don't believe, but I don't know if that's true
or not. But what happened when they built the coliseum
in Los Angeles, the people in l A said, no,

(40:06):
black people and white people are both paying the taxes
that are going to be built for this stadium. So
if you're gonna have a team here, that team has
to be integrated. If you're gonna take everybody's money, everybody
gotta be able to play, right everybody, Hey, listen to
good hit us all Twitter guys. If you've got something
that you a momentum some time, some type of groundbreaking
thing in black sports, let us know. Coming up next

(40:28):
more back to the a f C Championship game. Let's
get into it. Martin and d J. Fox Sports Radio,

the Fox Sports Radio count down the kickoffers anybody bet
MGM on Sunday mornings three hours before kickoff that try
tune in Sunday morning tany m Eastern. We'll take you
all the way live to kick off on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio app presented by bet
M g M. I just left MGM. I was in
this morning. Did you know that? Were you? I want

(41:11):
to see Bruno Mars last night? Hold up, hold up,
hold on, hold on? You went to see who last night?
Bruno Mars? How do you? I'm thirty three okay, one
year younger than Brandon Graham, okay, thirty three years old
and seeing Bruno Mars, Well, my girlfriend wanted to go. Oh,
your girlfriend wanted to go all right, sow Can I clown?
Can I clown? What do you seven? What do you?

(41:32):
What do you do? What do you? What do you do?
You have a trapper keeper too? What do you? What
do you? Sixteen years old? I mean, I'm sorry that
Bruno Mars is one of the most popular artists in
the history popular is man. I just think when you
get to a certain age. I just think when you
get to a certain age, there's just a certain artists
you just can't. You can't go see no more like
I'm not like I'm not going to go see Chris Brown.
I'm just I'm too I'm there's other reasons for that,

(41:55):
but also to come also Bruno Mars. That's what I mean.
What what see Bruno Mars before? His name is Usher
and I've seen Usher live in concert Usher at the
same place I saw I did. I've seen actual enough
the last two concerts. I went through the last, the
second one literally in the same burn Park. MGM, I

(42:16):
think you get my age. Go like, I'm going to
see Metallica back to back days. I had tickets for
both shows. Uh or they're not back to back days,
just back to back shows. Once on the twenty seventh
Night at so Far in August. I think that's a
concert that a gentleman like me is supposed to I
need to go to that I can't go to. I'm
not gonna go see Bruno Mars. I'm not gonna go
see Taylor Swift. I'm not gonna go see Nicki Minaj.

(42:37):
I'm that's like, that's like saying I'm not gonna That's like,
those are three radically different musical artists. I'm just look
like the age like I'm just I'm kind of clowning,
like I just I think, Okay, I'll just say Martin,
I think you're too old. They'd be going to see
Bruno Mars. Well, we had far It was far from
the oldest person there, I know. But did you have fun?
Did you get a T shirt? I don't believe you.

(42:58):
I had head man, I'm not buying merch. Okay, first
of all, First of all, I mean bakings getting I
was like, yo, did you go buy merch? Did you stay?
And every day everything is forty dollars more than it
should be, right, So I'm not spending dollars on the
shirt that says Bruno Mars. No, I'm not doing it

(43:21):
God already spending on tickets. The comedian in me, man
just finds humor when I see like grown people go
see I just when I hear Bruno Mars, I think of,
you know, twenty year old, a nineteen year old loving
that music, or twenty two or maybe I'm the old
maybe I'm the guy in the barbershop. Now, I mean
I remember forties. So I was fine, but I'm not
gonna go see. But you took your lady, so it's cool. Man.

(43:42):
It wasn't It wasn't like I signed. It wasn't like
I was like, sure it wasn't you. I have no interest.
I'm just making sure that it wasn't her. That was like, honey,
I got a surprise for you. And you were like,
oh my god, what what what? What? What? A PS five?
She's like no, and she smacked you with two Bruno
tickets and you got like like you jumped up and down,
you got excited, and you hugged her like five times,

(44:03):
and like you say, like, oh, gotta see Bruno him.
It was also like the East West Shrine game was
out there, so I had some sources that I connected with,
some of the scouts, you know, that in Vegas right
now and walk down to Mandalay Bay, And I said,
what up to them? You know, keeping my trying to
keep my sources close. Sos, Hey, do you see my

(44:24):
tweet about sources this morning? Y'all gotta stop with that.
You're you're, you're your harangue against journalism. It's one that
I don't understand. But I just don't get it because
sources to anybody can say that now, my because you
don't have to give a name, so you could just
feel important and say, well, my sources are from what
I'm hearing hearing from? Who who are you hearing it from?

(44:46):
Because the sources from the sources that are like always
wrong most of the time, is never on especially big
stories too. And I'm hearing it's a done deal to
the lakers, such a something that the number one stuff,
like all the things that I don't care for. Like,
I don't have the problem with unnamed sources in general,
because there's often times where you don't know where you

(45:07):
don't want to, like, you know, if you're you're, you
need there's there has to be some level of protection
for for whistleblowers and so on and so forth. So
I don't have the biggest problem with the concept of
unnamed sources. However, with all that being said, this summer,
inevitably there will be oh, where's he gonna sign, Where's

(45:30):
Katie gonna sign? Where is Kyrie gonna sign? Or whoever
would you name it? The NBA player that is just gruntled,
and he will be attached to like eight different teams
and nobody at the end it just be like, okay, whatever,
Like what Kauai was jumping the shark for me, that

(45:51):
was when he jumped, it was done. It done for
everybody to go everywhere, Like the graphic came across the screen,
Kauai to the lake is a done deal all but signed.
It's a done deal, and it wasn't and it was
never and it was it was never that. And then
also we'll also get that with Aaron Rodgers and Tom
Brady this summer also all the way through free agency

(46:13):
and all it's gonna be, okay, where he's got, Well,
I'm hearing he's it's a done deal. He's you know,
I feel you, bro, But adam sources and done deal
stuff just kind of ye, it's a done deal. The
Chiefs and the Bengals are in the NC Championship game.
After all that messing Buffalo and after all that, you

(46:36):
called it? Man? Does you called it? You did? You
tell we text right before the game, you said it's
gonna be a good one, bro tune in you called it?
Man that I said that the me you said you
said you texed my phone and I was like, hey,
what's going on? I said, Martin has been talking about
the Bengals for about a month. Now. It's not no,
this isn't just he called it yesterday. Didn't start said

(46:58):
he's been talking about the Bengals for about a month.
He really likes this team. I do. I really liked
this team, and I liked them in this matchup to
man the thing that gives me see here's the thing
I don't like it. This is my corner. Okay. I
was don't know, I'm not I didn't mean that in
that way. Have your corner I met? I'm at my
corner like like like this is my block. This is

(47:18):
where I stand, Okay, And I've made my bones selling
out this bangles uh potion flipping out that bangles. I
had Bengal two for one. All right, now you've been singing.
Now my Homes gets a little gift in his walk,
and now everybody's over here like oh yeah, and he's
definitely supposed to. I don't like it. I don't like it.

(47:42):
I've been here by myself and now it's crowded. Now
it's crossed. See I'm like that too. Don't try to
jump on and see that and see they go. That's
why I hashtag I headed a curb because I've been
saying it. Now everybody wants to act like they were. No,
that's not what you were saying before. Don't try to
come over to the side now. And I get it.
I it's part of it. It's like, oh, you like
the Bengals name three of their albums, right, So it's

(48:04):
like that's kind of where I'm at with it. But
when you think about this game and and and actually
add the matches up, all right, we're going into Arrowhead.
The talk and Cincinnati has been ridiculous now again. I
was in Vegas and I'm recovering from the Vegas flu.
At the moment when I saw this, I was like,
this isn't real. But then I saw it again. The

(48:26):
mayor of Cincinnati, I mean, what are you doing your honor?
I mean I was all due respect, pal, but like,
what are we doing paternity test to see who? Like?
I mean, like guys, I actually thought that was good,
but I mean I was. It's the it's the just
the all of it. It's so much from Eli Apple

(48:48):
smoking cigars in the divisional round. It's the divisional round, bro,
The Jaguars got to this stage, the Giants got to
this day, and you smoking cigars. You know what I'm saying, Like, like,
you know Eli when he used to have a scene.
I've been again, but I've been talking trash about Eli
Apple since he came out of Columbus, So this I'm
he's almost I just ignore at this point because you're

(49:09):
on a good team with a good defense. But everywhere
where you had a chance to be like at one
of the main cogs of the defense, you was getting cooked,
like the like the sirloin burgers I made on the
grill last night. You was getting flamed. Bro, you was
getting cooked. I'm with you on this. I can't I
can't be yeah, hey have it. I can't get that

(49:31):
song out of my head either, every time that commercial
comes on and goes out. But you rule, Oh is
that what they say you rule. You see, I couldn't
get that, and I just I'm the kind of guy
if I don't know the words, I don't care if
I mumble, I don't care if somebody goes, oh, you
don't know the words, No, I don't. Won't you tell
them to me if you don't know the words, and
shut up and go with my mumble in my hum
my mumble, and my hum is good. I can't wrap

(49:52):
her scene, but I can mumble and hump with the
best of them. To be mumbling. Yeah, he needed to
be a mombling man with this game. Tomorrow there, I'm
gonna tell you this, man. I I'm I'm, I'm I'm
late to the party. I'm late to the party on Cincinnati.
I thought last year might have been a little bit
of a I don't like the word fluke, but they
just kind of swung their way. But I have been
warning people about Kansas City all year long. I've been

(50:14):
on this Kansas City train and we missed my rank.
Trying to dump on them for two weeks straight on
the show, and ain't gonna do here. I opened my
note book because I keep my note I got the
note still right here in front of me. I'm like,
I know it's coming. Maybe God, the sports God said VJ,
it's not time for you to do your Kansas City rant.
Wait till they get knocked out. Then you're gonna look
even better when you do your Kansas City rant that
you literally wrote down four weeks ago. But I look
at this team and just something scares me that I

(50:38):
don't They don't look nearly as powerful as I've seen
them in the past, and they look like they're a
team that can still just kind of scape by with
my homes being my homes. But as you mentioned, with
this high ankle sprain, will you be able to move tomorrow?
I'm pretty sure they're gonna tape, rap, shoot whatever they've
done all week long. He's playing tomorrow, and I do

(50:59):
expect him to play good. I don't think he'll play great,
and I don't think he's gonna have a just a world.
Oh my god, look what he did on that ankle.
I don't think it's gonna be that kind of game
because Cincinnati can get after the quarterback, their corn their linebackers,
and their defensive line. They got Pro bowlers up there,
ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. They got guys that's
going to the Pro Bowls in the front and seven.

(51:20):
They are so disciplined in their rushing. Yes they are,
and uh and uh and Hendrickson specifically, Yes they are
always well I'm just well, Hubbard and hens are the
one like that that's set up and make it, make
it work for like you know what I'm saying. Like
in terms of that, they never like in the wrong
gap or you're never looking at like what are you doing?

(51:40):
And they're deep in the secondary too. You gotta think
about x Hill from Michigan doesn't even start. But you
know you can bring Dax Hill in and the nickel
Packers or dyeing Packers or any type of a Meeble
type Tampa two coverage type defense and bring that extra
defensive back and you know he's gonna support the run.
You know he could play the past. He's got he's fast,
and he's long and he's long, he's ranging, he's he's
gonna he can back ball off that out. He could

(52:00):
get in passing lanes that you don't think he could
get into. If you're my home's thinking, okay, I can
make that throw and on the Kansas City offense. If
you really watched that game even last week, I know
he was hobbled around. I know he was hurt. But
once again, as we how is Kelsey just how are
you guys not doubling his seems somebody it's the stupidest
thing I watched teams do with him, right now, make

(52:21):
somebody else. Val Scantlin's gotta beat me. This is okay.
So I'm sitting there, I'm sitting there and we watching watch.
We watched him break the freaking tight end receptions record, right,
so I'm saying, if I'm the defensive coordinator, well, I'm
just sitting there like thinking, who else am I super
concerned about? Nobody? Right? I need somebody faster to run

(52:42):
with MBS. Okay, Okay, Judo is not beating man coverage
consistently like fort like that's they watched. They're not. They're
not like your man beater is MV Alright, I get that,
you gotta run with him. Outside of that, what are

(53:05):
we doing here? And he's open open I'm there showing
replays the nearest defender and he's running like I played
tight end guys. I know he's he's running like button
hook routes, He's running options seven eight yard routes. Why
are you four and five yards away from him? As
a linebacker or as as a strong safety? How why
are you that far off of a buttafied first ballot

(53:28):
Hall of Fame player in the prime of his career,
trying to go for a second Super Bowl playing with
what people think is gonna be a legendary, iconic career
of of a quarterback in Patrick Molas. How the hell
are you four yards away from that guy? I'm grabbing,
I'm cheating, I'm doing And listen, the referee can't call
and grab every play, So I'm grabbing every play. I'm

(53:49):
gonna get physical with them, and I let the referees
dictate where it's gonna go. But watching last week, it's like,
how are you in the red zone and there's not
a guy near him? And he leaves the NFL and
red zone targets, red zone yards, red zone catches, red
zone touchdowns. Hello, hello, come on, like and I don't
think I don't think Cincinnati makes that mistake tomorrow. I

(54:12):
think Cincinnati goes. You know what, somebody once again, val
dead scantly you beat us, and if you beat us,
man tip your hat, but we cannot watch Kelsey get
eleven catches one, five and two touchdowns tomorrow. Cincinnat's gonna
lose because that means everything else is opening up. And
if he's having that type of production as the game
goes on, it's gonna open everything else up. See the

(54:33):
thing that about Cincinnati or I she said the thing
about Kansas City. I remember I was there Steve Spagnolo.
Steve coordinated the worst defense and for history, not once
but twice, back to back years. I was there. It
was the Saints. I'll remember, Okay, I know where you're going.

(54:54):
I get it all right, you know, and justin tucking
Michael straighthand and all of that. Yeah, maybe it'll work
rushing four and cover zero, you know, but you are
planning on I'll give it. Damn how many offensive lineman
they don't got They might only need to stay. I
could only start four offensive lineman. You're telling me you're
gonna sit up there, single high safety press coverage on

(55:18):
Jamaar Chase Tee Higgins. Good luck. And I'm telling you
right now Steve Magnolo is going to do that because
this is what he does. But I've also told you
guys about their defense. I just don't like this deep.
If you look at the Bucks, excuse me, not the Bucks.
If you look at the the Chiefs this year, they
have thirty one to the Bucks, they gave up thirty
to the Raiders. They have twenty four to the Broncos

(55:41):
Texas over time, twenty eight to the Broncos again, and
another thirty plus game against the Raiders again. Like they
this defense does have lapses, guys, they don't have. There
is no one, there is no more honey Badger on
his defense in the second dary in the back end
to be able to really quarterback this defense, this defense
worries me sometimes. And Patrick Mahomes health, the Patrick Mahomes
and a high octane offense can overtake some of the

(56:04):
mistakes that Kansas City makes on defense. But this defense
has always been questionable to me all year long. And
I'm telling you they have not seen They've lost three
in a row to Joe Burrow, Okay and Cincinnati. Earlier
this year they got be by him, so they've already
beat him once this year. Burrow is really starting to
look like and I know this may be sacrilegious for

(56:25):
a lot of people to hear, especially Bills Mafia. He's
starting to look like what people want Josh Allen to be. Wed.
Remember we did we did that. We did that when
my man, Mike Jones and the Athletic came out with
that article and said that Joe Burrow and Josh I
mean that the Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes were the
faces of this league, the faces of this league, he said,

(56:47):
some repertable, reputable outlet, The Athletic, the New York Times,
very reputable. We got friends at the Athletic, the face
of the league, the face of the league, Kenny Canny
get to the championship game. Yeah, it's and he went
three years ago. And I keep telling people this Buffalo
is regressing. And and also the Brian Dable leave. The

(57:09):
Brian Dable leave also to man was really big for
Josh album. Yeah it was. And I think that's ultimately
when you look at him, turn over machine first two
years stops being are doing magine, Daniel Jones stops being
a turnover machine. I don't know, maybe there's a through
line here. Martin and VJ be right back with more
on the a FC Championship game coming up next Martin
and v J coming to your live and the Tyrant

(57:29):
ever make a sound songs like this is you started
playing that song and you know what he said, oh
like like like he was like, oh, just my m
he did that. He just promise you. He looked like
he like like, oh, this is my song. I mean
I put a microphone to go ahead, turn it on
and be like to be honest, I like this song.

(57:51):
I bet by the way to to to this class.
Perfect this question, Marta, Martin and Martin standing up right now,
like you you're hitting on Martin for going to this.
This song came out in like he's been around for
a minute. And then when he sounds more like the
Police than Usher, did you tell him like Usher? I
I like this song. I ain't gonna lie. I really

(58:13):
do like this song. It's catchy. It's played in arenas,
it's played in sports bars, it's played at the mall
when you're when you're a foot locker, it's on in
foot like it like yeah, yeah, yeah, I do. I
do like this song. I ain't gonna fron I ain't
gonna fron. I keep it a buck man, but I'm
not gonna go right now I'm gonna I'm not gonna
go watch Bruno. Would I ever do that? Yeah, I'm

(58:35):
not gonna go watch Bruno Mars, But I do like
this song. I can't front. Look, man, I spent two
years in the house. Look, I caught myself, just all right.
I caught myself because when this dick, I saw you
do it. The American needs to know after the show
you put on in the first hour of this the

(58:57):
ridiculous walk you made me, Chris, I try to that's
and he didn't do it. He didn't do it. He
told on himself. He told on himself and only And
you know, I hope you little iPad was recording to
tweat that out actually, because you know VJ, you always
got a little camera up. You always gotta make sure
you got it all right. Good put that one out, Husky,

(59:20):
Husky and t I would have put that out, bro,
because you know, listen, when you're a stand up comedian
for twenty plus years, any great comediy to tell you,
if you can't laugh at yourself, you're never gonna be
successful as a stand up comedian. I can laugh at myself, guys.
I tease myself on stage. I make jokes about how
I look my big forehead being light skintting black with
blue wash. Trust me, I can laugh him. I would
have put that out like, yeah, man, I got caught.

(59:41):
I got caught dancing Drew grooving the Bruno Mars after
I talked, After I talked that mess compared to Chris Brown,
do it have you listened to Silk Sonic DJ, who's
that he can't miss it? He doesn't know that he does.
He doesn't know that like that it's it's Bruno Mars
and Anderson Park together. He probably if you know you played,

(01:00:04):
I would probably know everybody's heard to leave the door. Okay,
it's really good and it's probably right now. One song
I don't like, and I'm being road to everybody else
like is uh, don't believe it just what I hate
that song? Well, I hate that. I hate that it
got it's like it's like happy, I hate it just
got over right now, but it's goodness, Chrish, I don't

(01:00:25):
that one I don't like, but that one right there. Yeah.
I have a to us more. I have a theory
on every every group. Somehow sounds like stinging the police
at some point, because that when I first heard that song,
I thought that was the police. When you you are,
you are one of the most diverse sports and music

(01:00:45):
minds that works here at Fox Sports Radio. Bro, so
you're dude, like your big music. Dude. I love this
changing of the subject. No, I'm not changing this song.
I got called. Yeah, I like one song. Yeah, in fact,
I like it. I like one Blue March song, guys. Okay,
I like one Bruno Mark that song knocks. So I
ain't gonna because it was it was your response. You

(01:01:07):
had the moment, and you know what, we do this
as a people, right and whenever you hear your song
like that, we do this. I'm not gonna cuss, like, oh,
this is my job, this is my joint, this is
my song. You hit the the same way that we like.
When you go to a drive through and the order
always starts with let me get up. You know what

(01:01:27):
you want. You pulled into the drive the said let
me get a h I have a whopper, right, But
now I got called. But I do like that song, guys,
and the other song that but yeah, because I see
myself dancing with a pretty lady right now, man, Like
I can see myself at a song dancing and joining

(01:01:50):
a pretty lady. And what I'm saying, maybe that's what Maybe,
maybe that's why I went to the concert with a
pretty lady. I didn't have to. I didn't have to imagine.
I did it myself. I have to. If you went
with another guy, though, I would be clown ale. I'm
clown boy. You and your college friend went and saw
Bruno together last night? Wow, there's sports happening somewhere. Steve

(01:02:13):
de Seger is going to updat us on the reft
of that and whether night he is a Bruno Mars fan.
I'm sure, Steve, what's trend to my guy that we'll
skip Bruno and go to the NBA? Shall we at
the Lakers at Celtics after all? Tonight tipping off in
a few minutes. Celtics have lost three in a row,
so they're thirty five and fifteen on the season. Boston
center Robert Williams out with a sprained ankle. Lakers record

(01:02:34):
this year twenty three and twenty six. In a half
an hour, it will be Dallas at Utah Abs All
star guard Luca don Stitch out with the sprained ankle.
At Brooklyn Kyrie Irving with thirty two points, nine assists
in a win over New York one one fifteen Kyrie
with twenty one points in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia one
at seventh straight game, beating Denver today one to one nineteen.

(01:02:55):
Joel Embid forty seven points and eighteen rebounds large lead
for the Bulls at Orlando mid third quarter seventy seven
fifty five Nicola Duke Kukovich twenty one points for the
Bulls and at halftime the l A Clippers lead at
Atlanta fifty eight fifty three. Paul George was seventeen points.
In college hoops about eleven minutes to go. Fourteenth ranking

(01:03:18):
Zaga only leads fifty to forty four at Portland, Oklahoma
rip Number two Alabama ninety three to sixty nine. Number
three Houston was trailing at home to Cincinnati by eleven
points in the second half, but still beat the Bearcats
seventy five sixty nine. Fourth rank Tennessee has defeated number
ten Texas eighty two to seventy one. Each team was

(01:03:38):
seventeen and three this season. Wins in the top ten
for Kansas State, Arizona and Virginia. Kansas at Kentucky is
underway seventeen sixteen Kentucky at home in the first half
and in overtime. Mississippi State at home beat number eleven
t c U eighty one seventy four. Among the eleven
and h L games, Boston having a great season. It's

(01:03:59):
tied who too at Florida with under seven minutes left
in regulation, and HL teams will each have a bye
week this season, with many teams off starting this weekend.
Arena Sabolenka won the Australian Open in three sets, six
four in the third against Wimbledon champ Elena Rebocana. The
forty Niners elevated running back Tevin Coleman from the practice squad.
Running Back Elijah Mitchell miss practice all week with a

(01:04:22):
groin injury. Fox TV will add the NFC Championship game
Sunday at three pm Eastern Times, San Francisco at Philly.
Niners course beat Dallas last Sunday in a game that
was nine to nine to start the fourth Quarterback to you,
thanks Steve Martin and VJ. Coming to you live from
the tirect dot Com studios. B J, you know, I

(01:04:43):
saw this come across the wire and I was a
little confused. Hollow me Frank Right, new head coaching Carolina,
and nothing wrong with Frank Right. I got no beat
for Frank I don't I like some of the jobs
he did in Indianapolis. Probably couldn't. I mean Andrew retiring
through a big wrench in all of that. Right, but true,

(01:05:03):
ultimately true. The thing that got me, Steve Wilks got
the I mean, what could he possibly have done better? Man? Like,
when we talk about these types of situations and we
talk about black coaches in the league not getting opportunities, like,
it's one thing if you come out here and you're

(01:05:25):
like Todd Bowls with the Jets, you're not winning the division.
You know what I'm saying. That's that's you know, you're
you're getting your head kicked in regularly by one of
the teams that you're playing, the Patriots, Right, I see it.
That makes sense. This team, the Carolina Panthers, were the
worst team in football the first month of the season

(01:05:46):
by far, didn't score, hadn't scored over twenty points since
since like COVID starting it was ugly, hadn't scored over
twenty Think about that. That's three touchdown dude, three scores.
That's it. Steve Wilkes comes in. First of all, Robby
Anderson loses his mind on the sideline. What happened with there? Oh?

(01:06:08):
You know what? Nothing happened there? Right, you know what
I'm saying. He goes right back to work. They go
right back to work, and the damn near make the
poemost make the playoffs after they trade the best player
on the team that was supposedly hurt. We're sitting up
and talking about how big of an impact McCaffrey will
have in this game on Sunday, I mean, they were
running donte Foreman and chupa Hubbard and and and ran

(01:06:32):
the line. Hell ran the Lions out of the playoffs, right,
Lions win that game in Carolina. They're a playoff team.
Three D on the ground some something ridiculous because you
were pretty pissed about it. You're pretty pissed about Yeah,
I bet on the lines. I was just like, really, really,
you're gonna go up and give three hundred yards rushing about?
Like what is this? What is this Alabama versus Middle Tennessee?

(01:06:54):
Like you say, why we're having three hundred yards of rushing? Right? So?
But no, but I don't know. Possibly with Steve Wilkes
could have done better. And it just goes to show
you that it was never going to be real, right.
It was never like it was like any type of consideration.
And that's why, you know what, and you know what,
people came at him once when he said the team
was trying to tank, and he said it in the

(01:07:15):
postgame press conference. He we won't get that job, no way,
he we won't getting a job. So I don't go
in here. I don't go here to uh speak my truth. Well,
Love Smith did the same exact thing for the Houston
Texans where he was like, listen, I coached the win.
I don't coach to lose, And a lot of people
was like, yeah, he stuck it to the front office
by not winning that game and they didn't miss out
of having the number one pick. This is just you know,

(01:07:38):
this is the same old, same old again in the NFL. Man,
I actually don't know what to do. I don't have
a suggestion. You have. The Rooney ruling place doesn't really work. Like,
let's get real, doesn't really work. If you have to
be told to interview black men for head coaching positions
in the NFL, you probably don't want to hire them
if you have to be told to just interview them.

(01:07:59):
So in a black man goes in for an interview,
you have to think about what he's feeling. Am I even?
Am I? And are you really even interviewing me to
see if I'm gonna get the job? Or do you
already have your guy in place? And you're just following
the ruining rule, which is really depressing when sixty six
of the league is black. So the laborer, the laborers, right,

(01:08:21):
the players, the most of them are black, but you
don't have a lot of black coaches, and you've got
zero black owners. And that's because the owners have to
vote the new ownership in four team like you have,
there's a vote. I don't know if all you people
know that out there, you just can't buy a team.
You still have to be voted in by all the
owners that yeah, you're allowed to own a team with us.
It's it's it's really, it's really depressing. When I saw

(01:08:44):
that you loved Steve Wils, I think he did a
tremendous job there. I'm trying to figure out how even
a guy like Lovey Smith has not been interviewed for
as uh my Miami Dolphins for defensive coordinator position. I
understand Vivian jo is a big name out there, and
he is a minority in the Talian you can get
him in there. I get what you're trying to do.
What you're trying to do, but how is it Levy

(01:09:05):
Smith being considered? And then now the story comes out
that I guess Damika Ryan's is the front runner once
again those sources is the front warder for the Houston
Texas job. Put a hell once that job. It's something
else about these NFL jobs right now. There's a guy
still sitting over there on TV. Bro, Hey take a
job yet, And like we talked about it you myself

(01:09:25):
in both weeks ago. These just are these jobs even good?
The Indianapolis Coats, the Texans, Arizona, these jobs aren't even
good right now? But man, just you know it's it's
the same old, same Oldmartin. I don't even have suggestion
of what we can do a lot more black men
head coaching opportunities, you know what's wild? Though? The NFL

(01:09:46):
in implemented a diverse reward policy, states clubs to develop
diverse employees who was hired in a position of primary
football executive like GM or head coach at another club.
We'll receive draft choice compensation in the form of a
competitory draft pick in the third round in each of
the next two drafts. The forty Niners, I don't know, man,

(01:10:09):
you know like the like they have five compensation picks
from Martin Mayhew was left San Francisco to be the
general manager in Houston, I mean general manager in Washington. Rather,
Robert Sala went to the Jets obviously as the head coach.
Mike McDaniel went to Adulph into the head coach. Okay,
Rand Clarton, the guy who's now gonna be running the

(01:10:30):
show in Tennessee. He came from San Francisco. And if
Themiko Ryans gets a head coaching job this year, guess
what that's three more. Drafting is an in exact science. Obviously,
we see it all the time. How many guys bust
Our failed, and a lot of things like Bill Belichick
when he was really doing his when he was really uh,
at the top of his game. I say he would

(01:10:53):
always trade back into the out of the first round.
He would take the thirty pick and turn into THET pick.
To maximize your opportunities The draft is a numbers game.
The more players you can select, the more likely you
don't have to pay big money. Well add that because
that was that was why you did that. But it's
also like more money. But the more players that you select,

(01:11:17):
the better opportunities you're going to have. You know what
it's like, because it's it's it's an an exact time
people flame out. So the more bites at the apple
that you take, the better chance you have of getting
it right. The forty Niners are gonna get anywhere from
five to eight extra selections in the draft just because

(01:11:39):
they're like, you know what, just by employee, and this
is an advantage. It's an advantage. Well, but it doesn't
make any sense to me. You're operating against your own
logic saying like like if you're an NFL team, like
you don't get if anybody else goes, yeah, I'm getting

(01:12:00):
I get what you're going. Yeah, I get where you're going.
So that's what I'm saying, Like, think about it that way,
so that shows you where we really are. They will
actually give you more picks if you employed minorities, mainly
namely black men, at coaching positions in front office positions.
They will actually give you more draft, give you more
for to have teams that still won't employ these men

(01:12:24):
and these position that is super. So listen, let's listen
to this competitory picks. Remember just told you anywhere for
the third to the seventh round. Okay, hmm. The biggest
acquisition in football this year mid season forty nine is
trading for mccaffe Christmas. Where in the hell you think
they got these picks to trade for? They traded a

(01:12:44):
second round pick, a third round pick, a fourth round pick,
and a fifth round pick. Three of those three and
the fifth round picks? Where do they have all these picks? Phone? Well,
I don't know. I mean, I mean, it's it is
a lot. You're you're cutting your cutting your nose to

(01:13:05):
spite your face or whatever the freak saying is. I
hate that, don't. I'm glad you messing up because it's
not even a good one. So you're cool. Well, it's
it's just it is illogical to me that I mean realistically,
I mean, hell, I might hire everybody black, thank you,
thank you? Why why not? I'm still running the shows
that coaching the old like, why not and get some
more picks? And then give some more opportunities. An advantage.

(01:13:29):
There's clearly an advantage. That's all I'm seeing. And when
it comes to us to said, I hate hearing things
about the way to interview. Airy b enemy is a
name that always comes up, and and the sources are
what people hearing why I'm hearing it's not always a
great interview. Oh really, So a guy that can actually
running office with Andy Reid go to Super Bowl, five
straight conference championship games with the best quarterback in the league,

(01:13:51):
putting up numbers that everybody loves to find over and
and and and and get all hyped about. But you're
telling me this guy can't put on a suit and
walking to a room and just answer the question, Hey,
this is what I'm gonna do with your quarterback, this
is what I'm gonna do with the office, this is
what I'm gonna do with the past. Game is what'n
do with the writing game? You're telling me he can't
do that? Okay, And also okay, I'll buy it. But okay,

(01:14:15):
interview Okay, I mean they do an interview every week postgame,
pre game. You know what I'm saying. You have to
talk him. I generally don't give a damn about this.
I'm much more concerned about your ability to call that
manage a group of men. That's really to me. That's
the interview. What are we talking about? We talked about that.

(01:14:36):
Where do you see yourself in five years? Remember we're
talking about that, Mike mcdaniy. We both said, you can't
tell me this guy interviewed. Well, he's too damn quirky
like you. You can't tell me. That guy went to
the offense and did that's this stick And people thought, wow,
there's an NFL coach right there. He interviewed so great.

(01:14:56):
He has all these funny little things to say. Come on, man,
stop playing. Stop playing with me people. All right, man,
coming up next, we'll get into you're gonna talk about
Bronnie James. Is that what you want to do? Yes,
all right, we'll do that. Coming up next. Fox Sports
Radio Martin and VJ. Martin and VJ coming to you
a liar from the tire Ract dot Com Studios. VJ.
This was all you, buddy. Now I go see I'll

(01:15:16):
go see them. I'll go see them. If somebody told
me right now yo yo, m O. P Housel Blues
Hollywood you're trying to roll VJ. I'm calling to the
house like, YO, order the kids pizza. I'll see y'all
late tonight when I get back. I just got some
tickets to go see m O P. I would drop
what I'm doing to go see a concert or even
just a show at a club with m O P.

(01:15:39):
Are you kidding me? This is CEE songs like this,
This is an anthem. This song will go this all
will go over for generations. Everybody will remember Annie Up
Dog Come on man now like five remixes too. So
I mean, was that like supposed to be like a
veiled shot at Bruno Mars because I don't know, but

(01:16:00):
whatever song bot just play, h I'm sorry, Chris play
coming out of the break was like I don't know,
ten years old. Oh yeah, the uh thrown out of
I forget the name of it is not something out
of heaven. That song will play for generations. I will
be on. I can admit that that. Oh no, yeah,
that's that song is gonna be on in Chili's twenty
years from now, when you're there with your grandkids. That

(01:16:23):
song is gonna come on. It's gonna be like, oh yeah,
it's the two thousands music like like for me, eighties
right for you when you have great kids and gonna
be like, oh yeah, that's that's the two thousands category
right there. It'll be as you walk through Marshalls and
trying to decide which pair of socks to buy. Oh yeah, dude,
I love Marshall's. Man Burlington, I okay, I'm just do.

(01:16:46):
Burlins is my store, Burlins and Co Factory. They know
me there, they know me and West Hills. They actually
addressed me by name. How you bet chilling just seeing
what joggers all got, seeing you know, with sneaker jall got.
I mean packs of socks I can buy for three
dollars and you know, little cologne you'll be having in Hell. Yeah,
I love it up man, Hell Yeah. What do you
want to talk about? Brinnie James? Because man, Bronnie James. Listen, guys,

(01:17:10):
I I know people LEBRONI Yanda, YadA, YadA. Everybody knows.
I'm not a Lebron fan. My main thing with Lebron though,
and I just feel like everything is so forced and
everything is son is so unorganic. I like organic things
that happen in sports and just in life, like I
don't mind if my favorite player gets into trouble, okay,
or does something make some mistake in life. I get

(01:17:30):
that I don't like perfect people. Perfect people you should
be always be aware, or somebody that never gets caught
or never this or never that. My grandfather used to
tell me, don't trust people that don't talk in an elevator.
Lebron reminds me of somebody that get in the elevator
and gets quiet. And it starts to kind of stay
around this idea that his son that we can't critique
this kid, and we can't talk about this kid, but

(01:17:51):
if we could talk about other kids, and we can
talk about other high school players and stuff like that.
It's just it's blasphemous. I started my career in sports
broadcasting cover high school sports. He made the McDonald's All
American Team. Okay, And I know some publications haven't ranked
thirty four, some haven't runt or something like that. He
is not He is not Martin the top one of

(01:18:11):
the top twenty to twenty four players in the nation.
This is a product of Lebron being unorganic and making
sure his son gets these things. And and I'm all
for nepotism. Your son can work at the company, but
he can't be the vice president coming out of college.
But yeah he could, he could work, not in the
male room, maybe a level up entry level. Yeah, your
son doesn't have to interview, but you can't make your
son the CEO at twenty one years old of your company.

(01:18:34):
I'm off for nepotism, but not when things are just handed, bro,
And this just has that feeling to me. And I
I follow high school basketball. Some of these other guys
on this list, we know who they are. You saw
Brownie play in person. I've seen him playing person myself
the night you went and saw him, though you told
me personally he might have been the third best player
on the floor. Yeah, but I mean that's not that's

(01:18:56):
not something. But it's not a slight Okay, I'm not
I know, I just want to play that. I wasn't
trying to be in that game. I just like when
I was sitting there watching this, just like objectively, if
I didn't know who this guy was, I wouldn't I
wouldn't be you know. But again, you know, I don't
want to I hate killing a kid. That's not fair. Though,

(01:19:17):
that's not fair. Because and maybe once again, I'm coming
from it different because I've covered these games, like I've
covered high school games, and when you sit in the stands,
you can't tell me. We could just only say good
things about him. That's not that's not doing your job.
If I see something critical and I tweeted this, he's
a good high school guard. He is. I'm not saying
the kid can't play, but do not tell me he's

(01:19:40):
a McDonald's all American. My older brother Dennis, who's listening
to Love right now, he's taken me to like ten
or twelve McDonald's games. Guys, my nephew Kendall grew up
in the a U circuit back east. I've been going
to these games. I've seen Chris Paul drop forty. I've
seen Duar Wager, whose son is also in this game
right now, drop a hundred points in the high school game.
I mean, just seriously, man, I didn't think he deserved.

(01:20:01):
I just want them to bang on him a little bit.
There you go, that's right. Martin wite VJ Husky broadcasting
live from the ti rac dot Com studios tire rack
dot Com. We'll help you get there with an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road ads to protection and over ten
tho recommended in Stallers tire rack dot com. The way
tire buying should be bj T the tail as old

(01:20:22):
as time. As the season winds down and we have
the quarterback carousel, it moves around, you know. Uh, previously
this is always Russell Wilson's corner. Right, you would always
be like, oh, you know, I uh, I love it here.
But if I didn't love it here so much, I
could go to these fires, five teams, five teams over here. Right. Well,

(01:20:47):
now he's moved on to the Denver Broncos and we'll
be there because nobody else wants them. And uh, but
we quarterbacks are gonna be on the move. Derek Carr
is gonna be on the move. Obviously. Tom Brady is
being you know, it's being bandied about that he has
played his last game in Tampa. Aaron Rodgers, who knows,

(01:21:07):
you know, it's it's a it's gonna be an interesting scenario.
Rogers is not turning out fifty million. But he's not
turning out fifty million. I just would not shock me. No,
it would not shock me at all. No, No, he's
not turning in so he's just so contrarian all the
time that it feel like he would do it and
like laugh at everybody, like not saying like like but
everybody who would be like turned down all this money.

(01:21:29):
But no, he's not turning it down. Fifty million garon
te dollars at thirties five, thirty seven, thirty eight years old,
this is his last big pay day. No pro athlete
does that. If you can get that big last check,
you suck it up, man. You go through the training
and get drink your tea or whatever. People was making
fun of him whatever he's doing in the all see

(01:21:50):
whatever he's smoking or drinking. Yeah, whatever, Well do that,
do that one more year and you're gonna get fifty million.
I don't think the fifty million guarantees that he stays
in green Bay, because I believe some type of trade
could be worked out to where maybe green Bay picks
up a partial amount of it and the other team
picks up a partial amount of But he's not walking
away from fifty million dollars. I'm sticking with that. I'm

(01:22:14):
sticking with that all offseason. He's coming back. It just
depends on where he's gonna be and I honestly think
it's Green Bay. I don't think anybody else wants to
trade for thirty eight year old quarterback if you're not
right right there, like you're right on the cusp. And
if you go through the teams, the four teams that
are playing for the chance to go to Super Bowl tomorrow, right,
they're not gonna do it in Philly because you've got

(01:22:35):
Jalen Hurst. They're not gonna do it this Sitcina because
you got Burrow. They're not gonna do it in San Francisco,
even though Purdy could be the guy, or Lands could
be the guy. Garoppolos Ankles. Okay, they're not gonna do
it there, and they're not gonna do it in case Se.
So go to the next tier teams who lost this
week last week. The Giants, they're not gonna diary Darry
said what they're doing. They're going in with their guy.
Daniel Jones won't be the Cowboys. You got decupaying him

(01:22:56):
forty million, Like he's not gonna be Trevor Lawrence and
with with Jacksonville, he's he's the young kid, the up
and coming. So like, where are you going if you're
Aaron Rodgers that the team not to do defenses the championship. No,
the team is ready to win right now on both
sides of the ball. All we need is Aaron Rodgers.
Just who, like? Where you going? That's my whole thing
with Aaron Rodgers in the fifty million, brother, I just

(01:23:17):
don't see anything else. Baker Mayfield, Sam Darno. I'm just
going down the list, Daniel Jones, Teddy Bridgewater. There's some
other names up here, man. I mean, everybody thought this
was such a rich free agent class, But honestly, Martin,
I go down this list. Lamar Jackson is the key,
right And if I'm not mistaken, Lamar Jackson is the guy.
The rest of these guys, who who's signing these dudes? Man?
Where these guys going? I say, in terms of this,

(01:23:38):
Lamar is the only person that I would give the
Godfather offer. Of course, Lamar is the only guy that
I'll be like, I'll be trying to move heaven and
Earth to get him in my locker room. I'm about you,
Aaron Rodgers. At this point, I don't know if if
the juice is worth to squeeze, like do it? Can
he still play absolutely like I like that we're just

(01:24:01):
good that bro. I like that the juices work. I
don't know, I like that one. I've never heard that before.
I don't imagine I just made it up. I don't
think so. All right, but it's cool, it's just not. Yeah,
it's not. And I don't know. The pet back to
back NBP seasons. Yeah, and then he started to catch
on a little bit with watching towards the end of
the year. But I mean, ultimately, every Tuesday when he

(01:24:25):
goes on Pat McAfee, it's going to be a topic
of conversation. You want to talk about a guy who's
a distraction. Do you think it's a destruction? Well, I
mean he's just he is the whole show in Green Bay.
Just think his teammates know that. So it's not a distraction,
Like you know what it is? I say, like I say,
people discuss this idea of distraction. I don't really buy
into it all of that, But it's anything that's not football.

(01:24:48):
And Rodgers got a lot of not football going on. Yeah,
I don't think Aaron Rodgers has a lot of not
football going on. I just think that anything he does
that's not football people want to point to and say Okay,
See he's so worried about hosting Jeopardy. He's not about football.
But if I could just throw a player at you,
man and just switch roads here, you're normally throwing the
questions at me, what do you do with if you're

(01:25:08):
the Rams, what do you doing Baker Mayfield? In your opinion?
What would you do with Baker? We've been talking about
Matthew Stafford during the break and stuff. What do you
do with Baker Mayfield? Bro? I think at this point
I would probably try to try to keep him in
long like long term, but I wouldn't. I'm not breaking
the bill. Break you sign you're trying to keep them? Yeah?
I signed to keep them, all right, I think? I
mean if at anything that the pedigrees there. Right, he

(01:25:31):
was the number one overall pick for a reason, right,
And I know we just talked about how drafts are
hit and miss, but ultimately a lot of us to
do a scenario and style. We saw McVeigh have uber
success with Jared Goff, right, and like, I think that
if the scenario was built appropriately, Baker Mayfield could have
success in Los Angeles as the partnership or like as

(01:25:55):
the extension of Sean McVeigh because apparently when when Jared
Goff was was with the quarterback, Sean McBee was, you know,
literally telling him where to throw the ball, you know.
So I do I think that that that could work out.
I know this, and I don't know if this is
gonna be a popular take or not, but all summer
people are gonna convince themselves that Derek Carr is the answer.

(01:26:15):
And let me tell you something. He's not m He's
just not. It's like he's gonna be in there. He's
nine years in his career. He's gonna be making forty
million dollars guaranteed. And I get that he is a
great locker room guy. Seems like to be a good person.
Right when all the things going down, Henry Ruggs goes
up there, you know, he goes up there and he

(01:26:36):
the great press conference guy. Okay, I don't see it.
My thing with Derek Carr is I'm on the other
side with that. I think Derek Carr, I don't want
to use the word savior. I don't like that word. Man.
Just can you come in and take us to the
next level where we're trying to go. And I think
Derek Carr has the tools to do that. Now, where

(01:26:58):
are you talking about going though? That's where it's all
going to play out. If you're gonna put him somewhere
where he's starting over with a bad team and you've
got a top five, top ten pick, or like if
you trade him to Caroline or something like like that,
you just rogers stuff, you know what I'm saying, Like,
all right, so then people are gonna go see it

(01:27:19):
was car dude, Look where they sent him. Look where
he is. And he's not a free agent, so he's
got to be traded. Guys, he's not a free so
he can't pick where he can go. He is a
wild card. And there are some teams that I think
he fits if they're looking to get a veteran quarterback,
they had to deal with what five six head coaches,
seven or eight, seven or eight offensive coordinators. The one

(01:27:40):
thing you know, he is as smart as hell because
every time he turns around, he's got to learn an
entire new playbook, new scheme, new terminology, new location of
the players, where you lyne guys up like you even
just the temperature of the coach you're dealing with. That
stuff matters as sports people. So I'm not as out
on Derek Cars everybody else. I hated what happened to

(01:28:01):
him in Vegas only because we all know Josh McDaniel sucks,
like this is not a mistake, and I was wrong.
I was all in on the Raiders last offseason when
they brought in Chandler Jones. You trade for Davonte Adams
and you bring back uh, and you hire Jeff mcday. Uh.
Josh McDaniels, I said, you know what, maybe learn this
lesson gods some dinner. Sometimes people need a second opportunity

(01:28:24):
and learn. Going back to New England, get some more coaching,
get some more experience, get some more tutelage there. Oh
my god, this is gonna Josh Jacobs has been put
on notice. Contract here they draft a rookie out of Georgia.
We know that's running back you right now? So man
the Raiders and we watched Josh McDaniels fumbled his day
and then like real talk, the cowardy is he blames
it on the quarterback. That's such a sorry leader to

(01:28:47):
blame it on the people. Not just discussion with somebody.
Yesterday when I was in retail and I was a
store manager, I never once blamed the problem with a
customer on my staff. I just try to fix that.
I apologize, and I tried to fix the problems in
the cell phone industry for six years and I've managed stores.
I'm sorry, Martin, I'm sorry about what happened, buddy. And
let's not worry about the employees off today. But here,
let me help you out, man. What's up with it?

(01:29:07):
You need your email unlockster? Are you you want a
new screen? Let's see what we can get you an
insurance phone. Let's fix the problem. I'm not gonna blame.
That's not a leader, bro, He's not a leader. So
I just think that I think Derek Carr is getting
to I think he's getting the shaft with this bro.
To be honest with you, man, well he's got a
no trade clause, so he has uh, he's gonna wave
him I mean invariably. Yeah, you don't want them there,

(01:29:29):
but I mean he could make things really ugly. Oh.
I think he's going to though. Oh it's not going easy.
He's not gonna do them no favors, no, no, no
no no. Would you know, thank you? And you're a
reasonable guy, I think so, yeah, yeah, you're a reasonable guy.
I'm a little rough ferro on the edges. You're a
lot more reasonable than I am. But I'm definitely making it. Hell,
I'm making a scene. You know, Derek Carr's career record

(01:29:51):
is sixty three and seventy nine. Yeah, okay, I don't.
I'm not gonna try to. I'm not gonna try to
justify your dog. I get the numbers. I get the numbers.
But I with the tape on. You know, Derek cars
last time he had a winning season, Let me guess.
I'll tell me, let me guess. I don't have it
up in the screen. Was it the year that they
lost in the Wild Car Round to the Houston Texas. Well,
they made the playoffs last year. But okay, you're right,

(01:30:12):
the last year, but Tenant seven back the Tenant and
the last time he had a winning season before that,
it's two thousand sixteen, so it was I didn't even
live in California, so it was that year. And and
guess what though, he was also on pace to m
VP that year until he broke his ankle on that game,
he was on pace to m v P Connor Cook.
He was on pace to m v P man, So

(01:30:33):
I'm not I'm still gonna hold out hope on um
on Derek Carkin. I just think in the right situation,
he could be you know, he could be the guy
I tell you somewhere I like for him. If I
can throw a team out there, your squad, yeah yeah, yeah,
offensive weapons, running back could deeven. Now you don't like
the coach there and either there's a lot of people,
I get it, but you and Josh and with an

(01:31:00):
of the handful of more coach, he will have the
losing was it the worst winning percentage? Like if they say,
oh with a with a you know, with a waterline
of forty games coach, fifty games coach, he'd have the
worst winning percentage and NFL coaches replay. I just think
with those weapons, Crystal Larva is legit. I think Camaro,
I think you gave Alvacamara's money and I think he's
kind of just kind of going through the motions there.

(01:31:21):
Maybe you get Michael Thomas to kind of engage yourself
back in. I like the good young defense there with
Marshawn Lattimore and some other studs they got on their defense.
I think you could do something that division is winnable.
The division is not great, right. I just think that's
a team that I thought about. I looked at it
was like, let me throw a guy at you. If
you're Seattle, what do you do with Gino Smith? He's
fre What you doing, Gino Smith? Man? I'm probably tagging?

(01:31:43):
Oh wow? Players don't like that though, you know that? Man?
See Kawon Barkley is about to find that out. He
is not hitting free agency, but they're not gonna pay.
The thing is, Look, that's why you have your unions.
Like I. I don't like to tag either. Yeah, players
don't like that. Wouldn't would you? You don't like me
enough to really marry me, but really to really sign

(01:32:07):
up for the long term? What is this? If if
Lamar gets tagged, do you think there's any chance you
already know where I stand out? But I don't know
if I if you spoke on if I remember, do
you think there's any chance Lamar Jackson suits up in
September and the Ravens uniform? I mean, I think it's
in play, but I don't think it is without significant

(01:32:28):
financial uh a significant financial I think he'll play in
an at tag there I would not be shocked if
he just doesn't go like if he doesn't sign the
tag Levian Bell style. Yeah, I'm not Yeah, I'm not
signing it. But the difference is Lamar Jackson is is
south of seven Okay, Like he's got he's got more

(01:32:48):
football in him. Like so he's younger than I mean,
he's he and Joe Burrow the same age. Lamar Jackson,
He's got a lot more football in him. He only
made two point four million dollars this year. Now you see, Wow,
I did not know that was his salary this year.
Now you see two point three six seven million dollars

(01:33:12):
for that's the ball. See yeah, see that's why you
got Kyler Murray went crazy deal. You named crazy deals hell,
Derek Carr, you know crazy deals like just getting paid.
Kyler got the house man like real talk. I ain't

(01:33:33):
mad at Kyler. I'm starting to back up on him
as far as how much I like him. I need
to start. I need to see more. I defended them
with the whole plague studying thing and and the clause
in his contract. I thought that was real wrong for
the team to even do. And I thought there was
a lot of racial tones there with black quarterbacks anyway.
But when you come back from this A C. L. Brown,
if you want me to keep defending you, I need to.

(01:33:55):
I need to see it. Kyler, don't made look stupid
on air. Bro, Bro, Dennis Allen, that's your guys coached
four seasons in the NFL. Spit it and that's fifteen
total winds. Dennis Allen's win last record is fifteen and
thirty eight. And I'm not laughing at you, Bro. I
feel your pain as a fan. I feel you. You

(01:34:16):
talked about this Dennis Atland thing before. For thirty eight
is a good batting average, not a good winning percentage.
Sitting around two eighty, you hit two eighty. You're doing well.
That's a bad shooting night from the field and back. Yeah,
first of all, you're jacking. Number one. You're jacking because
you put up thirty eight shots. But fifteen, fifteen, one, five,

(01:34:40):
they're not gonna fire. But they would have done it already,
so you did. He is your coach for three. They're
not gonna fire him unless something dramatically, something dramatic happens. Man,
So he's the coach. He's the coach there. I didn't
know he was that bad. I always thought Dennis Allen
was okay. I never thought he was great, but I
didn't know he was that bad though. Man four and
twelve back to back years in Oakland got fired. That's

(01:35:01):
going on four eight And damn how about that. He's
been coaching in the NFL for four years, has been
a head coach four years, and he nearly doubled his
win total last year. Eight wins toil. Baby, it's elevator.

(01:35:22):
I remember from the redskining days of them now commanders
but living in the d n v SO when he
was there. So hell, yeah, come on down, Derek Carr.
I think it's a really good fit though, Come on down,
Derek Carr. And you know what you know who also
to be coming on down, Caleb Williams. Because it takes
to be the worst team in football, you think, so
next year, I still think it's gonna be the Texas. Man,

(01:35:42):
They're not gonna get any better. Bro, I don't know. Well,
if I'm Bright Shaw, if I get drafted by them,
I'm if I'm bright Shan Bro, I'm pulling this straight up,
John Elway. Who else did it? Eli Man? And I'm
pulling one of those. I'm not going there. I'm not
gonna go play for them. I go I'll go back.
He can't go back the BEMA, but I'll set out
in any in any event. That's all teams not playing
no more. Let's get to a team. Let's get two
teams that are playing tomorrow. Coming up next, Martin and VJ,

(01:36:05):
Fox Sports Radio, Martin VJ coming to you live from
the tire rack dot Com Studios. V J. You and
Christopher having a conversation in the break that you said
you want to take to the air. Yeah, Chris are
great engineer. Here threw something at me where he's just
recently said he thinks at some point we're gonna go
away from having coordinators because we're talking about all these

(01:36:26):
jobs that are opening coordinators that are up for jobs.
To Michles, Ryan is a big name right now, should
be the head coach of the Houston Texas, but of
course he's still coaching with the Sansisco forty Niners. And
I thought, wow, that was interesting as hell because I
turned it out, looked at you, and I said, wow,
think about it. If I'm the head coach and I'm
an offensive guru and I'm the head coach, do I
need an offensive coordinator if I'm still calling the plays, Like,

(01:36:49):
do I need an offensive coordinator or do we just
have maybe an assistant offensive coordinator or a passing game
guy or whatever. But I just think that that made
a lot of sense to me, man, And maybe you
now can make a coach for another position there. But
if I'm like, if I'm Damigo Ryan's and I'm a
defensive head guy and I get the Texas job, do

(01:37:10):
I hire a defenseive coordinate? I'm calling to defense, I'm
running to defense, I'm running to meeting that I just
thought it was. I just thought it was a great
a great take right there, Chris. I mean I was.
I think I was more talking about this idea that
as far as hires, we might have to go away
from coordinators just because brain drain on coordinator is just
like a real thing happening right now, and and there's

(01:37:31):
a lot of guys who are just you know, I
was we were mostly talking about like, look like these
coordinators getting hired away faster and faster. Not all of
them work out too, but at some point you need
a guy in the locker room who who's gonna be
the head coach who isn't also got his hands in
because you're gonna have to hand it off to a
coordinator or to someone to run individual parts of an offense.

(01:37:51):
There's more value I think, and being the kind of
coach that can just take care of the rest of
the locker room, have more of a a bird's eye view.
And again, like my my point is that what I
liked about the Dan Campbell hire in Detroit and kind
of you know, he has to be very careful because
if one of his coordinators goes away, that reboots a
lot of stuff. But at the same time, that's a
coach that's not tied to a specific he he has

(01:38:12):
specific way he wants to play the play the system.
But you're not gonna be worried about this, like you
know that that he's a defensive coach, is an offensive coach.
He's got both things in mind. My only knock to
that though, would be he is gonna be the fall
guy like Aaron Glenn right defensive corded and defense is
horrible issue. It was horrible. He's no, no, but see

(01:38:33):
I get that, but he's gonna end up getting fired
because of a coordinator he could have not Now, no,
he's not getting fired. I gotta keep him there. But
when they wanted to fire, if they wanted to fire him,
this year goes that defense is horrible. We'll finally just
had that m we just had with Brandon Staley though,
where we we clearly saw it was with Joe Lombardi
in the offense there. And you know a lot of
people were calling for Brandon Staley's firing, but they went

(01:38:56):
instead and decided to take out Joe Lombardi because which
I think this is how this ends up happening, right,
I think this is why you get the uh they
parted ways, they'll come in. You set you down, all right, Brandon,
that was a disappointing loss yesterday. We should we feel
like we should be advantad to play it just a
twenties seven point lead. What changes are you gonna make?
And he's like, well, you know, I like this. I'm

(01:39:17):
not reporting this. I'm just I've got you go with it.
And so he's like, you know, you know, I like
my guys, like he hired them, all right, I like
my guy. And then you're like, okay, well either you
make a change, yeah, you fire, or we're going to
make a change from you so, so I think that's
how it ends up when you get these mutual parting
of the ways type of situations. And that's cool and all,
But I just I think you could actually save more turnover.

(01:39:41):
And this is where I go with it. I think
you can save more turnover in the long run that
if you're a head coach like Kyle Shanahan. Does Kyle
Shanahan need an offensive coordinator? We all we all gush
over Kyle Shanahan play calling schemes, getting guys in the
right position here there. If he's got an offensive coordinator,
guess what, ladies and gentlemen, and you guys know my

(01:40:02):
football acumen, sports or arguments up there. I have no
idea who it is. I don't know who it is
because I know Kyle's calling the plays. I know Kyle's
running the offense. I know Mike ni daniel was the
running game coordinator when he was there before he got
the job in Miami. I can't tell you the offense coordinator.
I know it's two co guys that were more like
quarterback guys for TUA. But we know Mike McDaniel in

(01:40:24):
Miami is running the offense, calling every play and the
only person he's at because he was miked up enough,
we noticed the only person he was asking advice was
to There's not one clip of him talking to another
coach and saying, what do you like right here? He
was asking, oh, no, what do you like right here?
I just think I just think that's something to think about. Bro.
Maybe you always don't need a coordinator if you're the

(01:40:44):
guy calling the shots, and maybe you direct that coaching
position to something else that's leaking on the team. And
coordinators get head coaches fired. We know that we've seen
that before. Brother. I just think also head coach, like,
there's so much more to it than just you were
once spont time in offensive coordinator, or you run a
defense while you're running offense. Well you have to. And
you know, people knock on culture and say culture is
just winning, but there is something about having a consistent culture,

(01:41:07):
having players buying in, and just being able to manage
a staff of coaches very well, like they're these are
these are things that are just kind of lost when
your first instinct as an owner is to go and
hire a young offensive coordinator, you don't know how well
he's going to translate to be a head coach, So
like you should be looking for guys with better management

(01:41:27):
skills more than anything. Well, Also, the things I don't
understand it we have this if if there's thirty two
teams in the league, right and there's like ten openings
every year, if any other workforce just lost percent of
like percent was fired every year, they would probably look

(01:41:50):
into some different way. Like if pent of doctors got
fired every We're looking at a bunch of tech businesses
who just laid off like seven percent of their workforces
here like this past month, and it's big time news.
And I'm not trying to make it seem like it's not,
but think like, yeah, it's it's so why then, like

(01:42:13):
the doctors got fired, like they would be doing something
different in medical school, right, the training to be a
doctor would be different, right, like that it would just
be different, like the obviously there's no training to be
a head coach. Quote, there's like playbook or rule book.
But hell, I mean it's insanity. He's doing the same

(01:42:34):
thing over and over again expecting a different result. Right,
So it's just the same thing over and over and
it just never gets fixed. You just continue to just
have these blunders where teams Lowds, we're talking about Buffalo Bills.
During the break, Brian Dable comes in. He makes Josh
Allen looks like a world beater. Vegas loves the way
they looked in the divisional game last year at Arrowhead
where they probably should have won the football game, makes

(01:42:55):
some favorites. But Dable goes and takes the job with
New York and Daniel Jones, who everybody wanted out the
doors a year and a half two years ago. It's
gonna get a free agent bill because Day was like, no,
I got this guy, I go, I do this. I
got this. Sorry, Josh, you all gotta figure it out.
But I'm gonna go down here and be a head
coaching and handled this business. So it was just an
interesting take. I just thought was and I felt when

(01:43:15):
you were coming from Chris. But I just love to
spending back to God. Maybe some of these teams don't
all I'm not saying every team Martin, but maybe some
guys don't have I don't need the coordinator if you're
the guy, they're already doing that part of the game
as the head coach. That's all was s VJ it
Is January twenty eight and I'm looking at the SEC
Big Twelve Challenge right now, presented by Continental Tire on ESPN.

(01:43:38):
Kansas is ranked ninth, Kentucky is unranked, and College Kentucky
is on ranked. It's it's almost February. I just I
mean fourteen and six and I got great, But I mean,
this team is not I don't even know the last
time I've seen that. But to think about that, just
just think about that. We are we are what fifteen days,
We're two weeks away from Valentine's Day and Kentucky is

(01:43:59):
not ranked. And not only that, just I watch a
lot of college hoops, and uh, the college landscape is
just really changing because of the way the game is played.
And just one and Duns. Now, the kids can't go
straight from high school. The one and Duns are just ridiculous.
Our guys just go to the G League, go play
for g g Lee Unite, UH, go play for G

(01:44:20):
unit and UH and then go to the league that
way too. But it's it's really telling when you see
programs go through these types of of even Evan flows
up and down. I'm watching Baylor the other night, and
I have to remind myself Baylor won the national championship
two years ago. Like wow, I forgot that. I forgot Baylor.
Baylor won a national championship in college basketball and the

(01:44:42):
blue Yes and the blue bloods of college basketball. Don't
you start losing these coaches. We're seeing it with Carolina
and Duke. I know some of these guys do well
and for a little bit, man, but it's hard to
replace Roy and Dean and Coach k and guys like that.
You know, like I said, Kentucky unranked. I don't know.
Steve Seger will be all over that one and everything.
What's going on in the world of sports, Steve, what's
trend to, my friend? Let's start with the NBA. As

(01:45:03):
the Lakers are tied at Boston late first half forty
three forty three, Clippers now have a lead at Atlanta
with about five minutes to go one oh eight to
ninety four. Kawhi Leonard twenty seven points, and the final
seconds of the game at Detroit had the Rockets ahead
of the Pistons one fifteen to one fourteen. Earlier, Brooklyn
beat New York one fifteen. Kyrie Irving thirty two points,

(01:45:26):
nine assists, Chicago a winner at Orlando one to one
oh nine thirty two points each for DeMar de Rosen
and Zach Levine, and Philadelphia wanted seventh straight game beat
Denver one to one nineteen. Today Joel Embiid finished with
forty seven points and eighteen rebounds. The Pacers agreed due
to a two year extension. Was center Miles Turner. In

(01:45:47):
college hoops, early second half, it is number nine Kansas
leading at Kentucky forty seven forty three. Mississippi State in
overtime beat number eleven TCU. Fourth rank Tennessee dominated tenth
ranked Texas. It was two seventy one the final, but
goals led by fourteen late first half, pretty comfortable, cruising
to victory for Tennessee. Number three Houston, though at home

(01:46:09):
trailed Cincinnati by eleven points in the second half, still
beat the Bearcats seventy five sixty nine and an upset
for Oklahoma, the Sooners were eleven and nine, but at
home they beat up number two Alabama nine three to
sixty nine. Twelfth rank Diowa State lost at Missouri, Number thirteen,
Xavier lost at Craydon, Number fifteen Auburn lost at West Virginia,

(01:46:29):
and number twenty Miami lost at pitt Among the eleven
NHL games, a rare loss for Boston at Florida in overtime,
Panthers beat Boston four to three. Among the games in progress,
Tampa Bay Lightning with two minutes to go up five
to on the L. A. King's Arena. Sabolenka won the
Australian Open in three sets. Sabole Anka will move up
to number two in the world rankings. The forty Niners

(01:46:52):
elevated running back Tevin Coleman from the practice squad today.
The Niners have won twelve straight games there at Philadelphia
tomorrow on Fox TV for the NFC Title Game three
pm Eastern time. The Eagles won the Super Bowl five
years ago, but they had lost their previous three playoff
games until last week. Win loss records the four years
after the Super Bowl nine and seven, then nine and seven,

(01:47:14):
than just a four win season. Last year, Philadelphia was
nine and eight. This season, Philly started out thirteen and one.
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and VJ. Coming to
you live from the tire Ract dot Com Studios, Russell Westplook.
Do you think it's gonna be six Men of the Year?
He should be and he'd be the only NBA m
v P in the history of the league to win

(01:47:36):
m v P and League six Man of the Year Award.
The reason why I love this so much because last
year it was all Russell Westbrooks fall. Everything was russy.
He's playing so bad. No one wanted to blame Lebron,
don't want to blame a d don't want to blame
anybody else. Russ was the easy escape goat because, as
I always say about sports, I needed want popular god,

(01:47:58):
TV and radio to just bang on a hard enough
every day man for five minutes and everybody falls in
four It's just like watching the news. Everybody falls right
in line. And people did that last year with Westbrook
So I'm happy to see him playing the way he's
playing this year. Eighth in the league and assists off
the bench. Bro, when do you see that off the bench,
And I mean he's playing a lot. No, he's not,
like you know, but I know, but it's off the

(01:48:20):
bench still, it's it's it's it's amazing this Lakers team.
He's he's the most overrated Celtics have they have. They
put Russ's stat line up on the the screen for
you guys. I saw it was on right when it
was Yeah, it was he's over six. Yikes. See see
there you go. See that's what I mean. Why do
you have to throw that out there? We're trying to
get him in his flowers right now. Well I know

(01:48:41):
he's over six. Okay, there are five, so it don't
matter his open six don't matter that. See, That's what
I'm saying. Over there are five though, so that his
open six is not hurting. He has not been very
good in the last last few days. I did just
watch him. That was a pretty bad turnover that he
just had. He had listened, guys. He has bad turnovers
and stuff. But I defended them all last year. I'm
going to continue to do it. I'm not I'm not

(01:49:02):
coming to the other side, guys. So I mean that
is I'm not coming up. I'm not coming I'm not.
I'm not coming to the other side. I'm sorry. I
the guy has always been. All he ever does is
show up and give us and give a hunting every
single play man, and we watch God, we watch God's
we gush over who half acid he should be he
should be doing that in San Antonio come February nine
or whatever. Whatever the trade. They're not They're not moving him.

(01:49:25):
I don't think they will, but they absolutely they're not
moving him with a d back. They think they're only
three under five hunter. They think they got a shot
to get to the plan, especially with the I'm gonna
do with what Barkley called him, who your mom? Who
your mama? Knight? With the trade, with the trade, with
the trade. I think that they think that they got
enough firepower. Maybe they make one more move. Russell's not
going you take him off that team, you decimate your bitch,

(01:49:47):
and then people will start complaining and go, well, we
didn't have a bit down the stretch and Lebron and
a d kid carry everything. And trust me, man, this
stuff is so easily to just look at and tell
what people are gonna say and what the narrative is
gonna be. I just, man, that's just how are we
here at this place where the Lakers are fighting, Lebron
is fighting to They're very lucky that the West is

(01:50:10):
very bad this year, and thank you, they're very lucky
about that. But who is who is Russ taking minutes
from the playoffs? Like who are you gonna put? Like
who we're gonna put on the bench so that Rust
can play in the postseason. Well, no, I just say keeping,
I don't think you should start Russ. I thought it
was a brilliant move to take him off the bench,
because you need somebody that has experience that can work
with the young guys and work with the second unit.
You can't just put a bunch of young second guys

(01:50:32):
a second unit out there, a bunch of young guys,
You're gonna lose a bunch of leads, and once again
the narrative will be, oh, we don't have a bench.
Moving Russ to the bench allows the Lakers to have
a bench. Don't come on, guys, don't act like there's
not games where Russell Westbrook has had triple doubles off
the bitch and really been the cog of the second
unit either. Keeping leads for the Lakers are bringing the
Lakers back in the games, are finishing some games and

(01:50:52):
winning games. Let's let's let's let's not act like that
hasn't happened. It has. He's been the catalyst of that
and he's probably leader. Naming of the guy right now.
Do you think in the NBA at the top of
your heads, you know, looking up, whatever did you think
it's could be six man of the year right now,
the leader is probably Russell Westbrook. So how is that
a bad thing. It's not a bad thing, guys. When
you got the six man of the year on your team,

(01:51:13):
that means your second unit games are one and lost
in this league by your bench, one and lost by
your bench. He's leading the bench. So I'm like, I'm
gonna keep celebrating it, but ultimately this roster has to
improve like they have. Like I'm like, I get what
you're saying, and I get and actually Chris Brussard said
this friend of the show said it on Instagram the

(01:51:33):
other day and at uh because I said he was spitting.
But he's like, just go win like all of this,
all this stuff, And I can kind of I kind
of get that part of it. I do get that
part of it. But Rob Polinka, the idea you're talking about,
Baylor went in in the national title just a few
years ago. Three years ago, this team won the finals
and it looks nothing like it used to. But we

(01:51:55):
know why that is. And once again, if you bring
it up and say it, you're a hater. Instead of
just calling what it is. Lebron is a great player.
We all know that, but you the baggage that comes
with him is the narcissistic nous of Hey, I wanted
my way, I wanted this way, I want this guy
just that. And when the franchise does that and everybody's
on one year deals, you can't keep turning the team
over on one year deals guys. Sooner or later you

(01:52:18):
end up where you are now, where people are still saying, oh,
come on, they gotta go make Moose from what the
hell do you want? Anybody who bring it is not
better than Russell Westbrook. Let's just start right there. If
you tray Rush right now, tell me you're Oh, Buddy
Hill and mouse Turner, that's the big one. Those guys
are Neither one of those guys are better than Russ
as a basketball player. So you're trading a guy that's
a Hall of Famer for two guys that might work

(01:52:40):
out with you. And mouse Turner is a free agent
after this year, So once again, you're trading for a
guy in February that might not be here come August.
It doesn't make sense business wise to steal your line.
It's not what uh there you go? I like that one.
I'm getting that on the T shirt. I'm putting that

(01:53:00):
on a T shirt. That juice is not worth. That's squeezing.
When people go what that means, I'm gonna go, hey,
let it mean what it need to me until you
play a Coming up next, Martin and VJ will get
back into the NFL, will pick tomorrow's games. It'll be
a fun It'll be a fun moment. God damn it, man,
football is almost over. I don't want it to end.

(01:53:21):
It hurts. Coming up next Fox Sports Radio, Martin and
VJ coming to l R from the entire rack dot
com studios. And now this time for the Progressive Player
of the day. Incredible performance by this Oklahoma basketball team today,
wind Column Suitors came over. Final score Oklahoma ninety three

(01:53:42):
and number two Alabama six. Thanks to Tony Rowland from
lear Field Audio. There on that play, what an annihilation.
Shout out the Leri film. Nice to work for him,
That doesn't work for Liri fil Shout out the lear film. Yes,

I'm excited. Bro. Tomorrow feels big, right, Oh, it feels big.
It feels humongous. Four great quarterbacks for real good franchises.

(01:54:24):
Like it's like you want to talk about all the
different moving parts of the quote unquote legacy and all
that you know, like likes like Zoo. If Barrow goes
into Arrowhead and beats my Homes again, it's time to
have a dialogue. I'm not saying that just right or wrong.
All I'm saying is it's time to have a dialogue.

(01:54:44):
Charles Barkley mean, it's let's time to have a discussion.
It is time to have a discussion and about who,
just who is the best guy in this league because
Patrick Mahomes has had that pretty much since he walked
in UM in terms of just his talent level and
his ability to I mean, like you said, NFC Championship game,
it's been the Arrowhead invitation. Give me, give me, let
me let me throw something that you bot jump in

(01:55:05):
on this one to give me a name, guys, tomorrow
that we haven't mentioned today, but Monday, you go, damn,
it's a good thing that guy played that way, Yes, sir,
are yeah, he that guy saved He saved the game.
Or say you know who who who makes the plays
and tomorrow that we're not talking about today? Quarterbacks away,
who who's the guys that chase this chase just go bonkers?

(01:55:25):
Like what's up? You know what I think it is?
Give me somebody. I'm not even being funny. I think
it's some MYR. J. P Ryan blocking keeping Joe upright
the Chiefs have. They're up there in terms of sacks. Yeah, yes,
and it look that's gonna be the key for them.
Money good one. That's gonna be the key for them
to be able to win. And they keep Joe upright,
he gets the ball out fast. But again, this ain't

(01:55:48):
I mean, Buffalo didn't have Von Miller, you know what
I'm saying. Like they Fincinnati was dominating the offensive and
defensive line. I don't know if they're going to be
able to do the same in Kansas City. So that's
why I think that's the blocking is gonna be big
for Burrow. Yeah, that's that's that's the skill. We don't
talk enough about about running backs throwing out blocks there.
It's it's huge when you're setting up for a pass
rushing anything. But you got anybody bow in your head,

(01:56:09):
you think, up, I got two guys and it's gonna
be uh whoever wins the battle between them, Hassan Reddick
for the Eagles and Trent Williams for the You guys
were talking earlier about how you know Hassan Reddick and
Michael Parsons. Reddick is pretty uh, pretty close. I think
the only thing Michael really has over him is the
fact that he's on a rookie deal. Otherwise, Hassan Reddick

(01:56:30):
is probably one of the most overlooked players in the
NFL this year. And when he had to go straight
up Michael Parson's if you just put the table on.
When he was able to chase uh party on bootlegs,
he looked great. But when he had to just try
to blitz the pocket, Trent Williams, dude took him. I mean,
he was just man handling and showed why he's probably
the best left tackle in football. He was he was

(01:56:52):
dominated then that big are supposed to be able to
move that fast. No, Trent Williams has long been one
of the best tackles in football. Yeah, I by far.
I think if I can take another for the Eagles defense,
big place, Slay, thank you. I think I think the
pressure like Brock Party has been very good at avoiding pressure,
but I think the Eagles can put pressure on him
and make him to throw those turnover worthy plays and

(01:57:14):
Slay and Darius Slay thrives on those kind of plays.
He thrives on getting big interceptions. I think I think
the Eagles had something like seventies sacks this year as
a team, um, which I think is kind of being
overlooked going into the game tomorrow. They generate pressure like crazy,
like Brandon Graham had double digit sackses here coming off
a torn achilles So but Hassan Riddick I think has
a big game tomorrow. I do think he's gonna win

(01:57:35):
that that battle there the Chiefs player, I'll throw for
you guys too. I think Pachenko has a huge game tomorrow.
I still think the Buck I'm going with the Bengals
to win. But I think he's a guy that helps
keep it close and gives Mahomes him and McKinnon gives
Mahomes to other guys other than Kelsey Kelsey, Kelsey Kelsey
with Philly to me, I'm with you, Chris, it's big place, Slay.

(01:57:58):
I think the pressure at the Eagles could put on
party and just throw those balls that you've been baited
into throwing. Like you said, those interception worthy tight passes.
But he's gonna be baited into those. I don't think
he'll just throw bad, bad passes. I think the Eagles
secondary and veterans like that will will debate, will bait
him into it. On the flip side with the Bengals,

(01:58:20):
watch for watch for for Boyd and Higgins to really
work the middle of the middle secondary of this defense
for the Chiefs, and you know we are no Jamar
Chase is gonna take a lot of attention away. And
then also tight ends. I think tight ends are huge tomorrow, guys.
I think tight ends up and down the board are huge.
Mark Kittle, Kelsey Goddard and um I'm sorry the guy

(01:58:43):
they got the guy SITCINETI got hurts, hating hurts take
off from Baltimore. I think four tight ends tomorrow, somebody's
gonna make, you know, make or break, make or break
these games. I think I think we're all. I think
we're all in agreement with the with the Bengals. Correct, Yeah,
I'm going I got Bengals four Chiefs twenty one. I
like Bengals thirty five to eight. Okay, you're going high

(01:59:06):
schooling there, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm going high school and
you can't see any I'm going high school. And at
this point, like I I gotta, I gotta ride with
the forty niners. Here I've been They've been good. They've
been good to me all year, which is score quarterbacks regardless.
Thirty Eagles thirty thirty thirty in Lincoln Financial against that defense.
Give me, give me the Eagles in a in a blowout,

(01:59:28):
Give me the Eagles thirty five thirteen. I will say this,
don't love the fact that they dressed up the Rocky statue.
You got. Yeah, that's that's a that's a death sentence.
Don't love it sitting right here. Don't like it one bit.
But I will like watching the championship games tomorrow. It's

(01:59:48):
gonna be a blast. Martin and Radio
