score twenty one on eight of eleven shooting from the field.
Denver takes a three games to one lead in the series,
(01:08):
but Miami head coach Eric Spolstras still believes.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Things can shift very quickly. It's going to be a
gnarly game in Denver that's built for the competitors that
we have in our locker room, and by the time
we get on that plane, all we're thinking about is
get this thing back to Miami.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
I gotta tell you, Plexicoda, there is probably the chance
that you will be able to say clear blue sunny skies, nice,
great weather. And I don't know what our response is
going to be to that, but let's let's get to it.
Let's how are you feeling, man, How y'all feeling? How
(04:10):
you feeling?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Plex Oh man, it's currently you know, I think Tuesday
and Wednesday with some of the toughest days that we
had here on the East Coast with talking the fires.
Oh yeah yeah, coming down from Canada, so I had
never seen anything like that. I was in New York
City during the deal on Tuesday and they closed when
I was shopping. I was like, what you mean, Oh,
(04:34):
thank you man, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Hey progress, my guy progress man.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
You know, just keep punching, man, keep chopping wood. That's
what you gotta do, keep chopping wood. But yeah, man,
the weather's beautiful out here today on the East coast.
It's currently probably about seventy five degrees. So as soon
as I get off to this show, I'm going to
meet my guys at the golf course and play the
back nine at two thirty. And you know, you guys
out of the so long enough for you come on?
Speaker 6 (05:02):
What that look man, man PGS Man, you use hockey sticks.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Man, PXG, Man PXG only shout out to my man
for six.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Seven, six foot eight. God, man, that's what we do. Baby,
What you got? TJ? What's going on with? You know?
We got some decent weather.
Speaker 7 (05:19):
Man.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
It's been cloudy, cloudy today every day, every day.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
It's weird.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
We're in June and it's like it's been like this
for like two two.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
And a half months. I ain't paid taxes for this.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
They told me if I came here and I had
to pay the taxes, I'm paying for the sunshine. They said,
it's a sunshine tax. Well, where the hell is the sunshine?
Speaker 1 (05:45):
I need it. I'm irritable.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Good look because you can hear it in TJ's voice
every time the weather is not.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Second.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Man. Hey, look, hey, I'm starting to feel that he
get his hair from the from the sunshine.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Man, his hair might dry.
Speaker 7 (06:06):
Out of last week Man, when you was at the
University of Texas with your son, Man LeVar got people
in the streets saying.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Hey, what's up, pantee.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
He said that it's happening more and more, and man,
that's a beautiful thing.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Man.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
People are listening to the show, thank everybody that subscribed
and listening up on Gains every Saturday.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
He truly is a superhero, yes named panteene. Man, you
are listening. Thank y'all.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
We appreciate it, and keep calling the pante man because
that's exactly what he is.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
But we need the sun to come back. Otherwise TJ's
hair isn't getting the type of sunlight that it needs
for him to have the superpowers that he has.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
And speaking of super powers.
Speaker 6 (06:49):
Guys, God Lee the dude twist his ankle when the
game starts. Most dudes would have sat there and folded
like you see an ankle turned that that bad on
a body that big. Chances are they're going to be hobbled,
they're going to be altered. Might not even finish the game,
(07:09):
and it happened early, and I know everybody that's watching was.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Like, Oh, what's that going to be.
Speaker 6 (07:15):
If you're a Heat fan, you're like, oh, do we
get underd we get an advantage. If you're a Nuggets fan,
it's like, Oh, what's going to happen if he's out?
Speaker 1 (07:22):
What does that mean for the rest of the series.
Speaker 6 (07:24):
There were a lot of people that were watching and
just waiting, and then you know what, then there was
kind of like nothing like the Joker came out of
the lot. He kept playing. They kept playing, and they
played their way into a three to one lead. Now
we'll say, y'all, boy, Bam, I by you, And I
don't know if I'm saying his last name correctly, but
(07:44):
I'll tell you what that that cat right there got.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Some dog in him. Man that he's a warrior. Man.
Speaker 6 (07:51):
I fool with Bam. If even if they lose this series,
I am he gained a new fan in LeVar Arrington
because that cat right there is playing fearless. And so anyways,
it's three to one. Do they wrap the series up
heading back into Denver? Is it a rap on on
the series? Is it a rap on the season? What
would y'all take away from the game last night when
(08:13):
when when Joker went down, he didn't really it didn't
for me, I felt like he was coming back in
the game. I'm the fact that Miami won a game
for me. I thought it would be four to oh
sweep or four to one at the most, and it's
going exactly how I thought. The Denver Nuggets, man, if
(08:34):
you think about it, they've kind of run through these
playoffs with no problem exactly. I mean the Sun they
go up on the Phoenix Suns, two older sons, won
the next two games, and they say, you know, you
know what, let us in this series four to two.
Every game against the Lakers was close, swept them. They
are just a really good basketball team from top to bottom.
(08:59):
And if you look at yesterday's game, Aaron Gordon was
a leading scorer.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Man, he was thugging out. There was a leading scorer.
He was getting it in. He was getting it in.
He couldn't even miss from the three.
Speaker 7 (09:13):
And then and then when when when when Yokich went
out with five fouls, Bruce Brown took over r like,
not Jamal Murray, not Aaron, Bruce Brown. They gave a
ball to Bruce Brown and said, let's get it. And
so how many teams have that luxury? Because when you
(09:33):
say let's talk Denver Nuggets, we're gonna say Joker, We're
gonna say Jamal Murray.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
We're gonna say Michael Porter Jr. We gonna say Aaron Gordon.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
Michael Porter Junior has been quiet in this series, like
we hasn't.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Talked about teams.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
When you talk to the team Denver Nuts, you may
say Aaron Gordon before Michael Porter Jr. But regardless, it's
one of them is gonna be three, the other one's
gonna be four. When you go down the list, you
gonna say KCP Necks. When do you get to Bruce Brown?
And they literally gave the ball to Bruce Brown and
(10:07):
basically said, let's go. There's not some I didn't know
he can play like this. When he was with Brooklyn,
he wasn't doing this. He was a defensive stopper. We'll
give you the occasional three out the corner. They handicapped
this game. They and so they just have a really
good team. Answer a question, yes, I believe next game
(10:29):
they going back to Denver. The series is over. Denver
Nuggets won their first NBA Championship. You got to get
credit to those players. You got to get credit to
the head coach. They are a really good football team.
Their core is young. They here to stay man man.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
A couple of weeks ago, we was talking about the
Denver Nuggets. Teach that you said that they would sweep
to Miami Heat, and I said, you know what, I'm
gonna give Miami one game, and they were able to
win one game, just like I thought. But when Aaron
Gordon is playing the way that he is and he
can defend Jimmy Butler without a double team, dem and
(11:04):
Nupper is a tough to beat. And you look at
a guy like Bruce Brown from a University of Miami.
He's playing at home in the NBA Finals and they're
giving him the ball and they pick and roll and
asking him to go make plays, and he's making plays.
When Bruce Brown and KCP are knocking down shots for
(11:26):
the three point line, Denver is basically unbeatable. And Joker
gives them the freedom of a Bruce Brown and a KCP,
so they're no longer handicapped like he was in Brooklyn.
And now these guys have the freedom to make plays
and Jamal Murray man just special. You just gotta just
(11:50):
tip your hat and shake your head and say, man,
this guy is one of the top, maybe one of
the top five players in the world and basketball. And
he just continues to deliver in the NBA playoffs at
a rate that we haven't seen in a long time. Man,
And they are exciting to watch. And the humbleness of
(12:12):
Joker being he's a walking triple double is basically what
he is. And I didn't know that the Denver Knuckles
were this good of a basketball team because I said
that the Golden State Warriors would beat the Denver Knuckers
in the Western Conference Finals to go to the NBA Finals.
And I was wrong.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Man.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
The Denver Nuggets and the Joker and Jamal Murray, they
they're just going to continue to get better. And you
gotta love it because they're exciting to watch and it
is just a great brand of basketball. And they're just
going to continue to add pieces to this team and
(12:52):
they're just going to get better, man, And they ain't
going nowhere for a long time.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
I'll tell you like.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
This, if I was watching that TV last night, it
looked like that that was Caine bringing that funk to
Chauncey's ass. I tell you that because it looked like
they was beating them down. Hey do you know? Do
you know that? And shouts out to minister society by
the way, Uh, and they could use some they could
use some good weather out here. They filmed in minutes
(13:16):
society out here in Los Angeles. It wouldn't be Sonny
in the movie if they was filming that movie right now,
so it wouldn't really look like Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
But I digress.
Speaker 6 (13:27):
Do you realize that if and when Denver wins this series,
it's the first time in the history of the NBA
that a team and from the West that wasn't from
I think it's a La Texas, And I think there's
one other place. Literally it's the same places that win
the NBA title from out west. This would be the
(13:49):
first time a team wins the title that isn't from
one of those places. So shots out to Denver, shots
out to the job that they're doing.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Uh, we got a lot to get.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
To going to be upside. Oh man, this championship. I mean,
Dyn's already den was already hell of a city.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
I wonder I wonder if weather conditions will be impacted
by neighboring states based off of all of the fire
coming front.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
And I ain't.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Talking wild forest fire of talking fi yow. All right, anyways,
let's take a quick break. Let's talk Dalvincook out of
the break. I think it's a horrible move to let
Dalvin Cook go, but I can't wait to hear what
my peep's got to say about it. You're listening to
up on Game that stretch. That's panteen man. I'm LeVar
(14:40):

(16:19):
we're gonna talk a little d hop that's gonna come
after our update. But right now, let's talk Vikings releasing
Dalvin Cook. Now the question is what's the best fit
for Dalvincook? But maybe the bigger, better question is what
does this mean for Kirk Cousins and this Minnesota Vikings offense?
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Who wants it? Go ahead?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
You take it. Whoever wants it, you take it. I mean,
I was shocked. They have been saying they was gonna
release them for a while. Dalvin Cook was a big
part of our offense.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (16:56):
One of only you, I believe is three backs to
have a thousand yards in a last four seasons.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
He's been consistently.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
He's been banged up, he has been injured, but when
he's available for in the rule, he's one of the
best backs in the league. And it's just this oh
anause quote unquote analytics where the running back position is
somewhat is undervalued. In my opinion, in every position, from
(17:26):
quarterback to receiver to run we all need everything to
be operating on the same page in order for the
other to succeed. And I just it's almost as if
they look at the running back position and say, ah,
we can get anybody back here, we can get anybody.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
That can run the ball and will be successful. I
don't believe that.
Speaker 7 (17:50):
And the Minnesota Vikings made the playoffs last year, had
a really really, really good year under a first year
head coach, but their defense was bad, and so you
would think we get a better defensive coordinator and Brian
Flores if we're just a little bit better and we
can bring everybody.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Back, we got a chance.
Speaker 7 (18:12):
But they're not bringing Dalvin Cook back, who arguably not
even arguably his second best player on offense.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
It was just Jefferson then Dalvin Cook. So for them
to get rid of them, I don't understand it. I
don't get it. But this is the world of football
as it is today. The running back position. They don't
value it.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
It's as if we can just get anybody and we're
going to be fine.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
And so it's gonna take years and years.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
Of this to not be true. Okay, it's gonna be Madison,
it's gonna be the God.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Now.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
If you don't perform and they don't have the type
of year that they had last year, now it's gonna
be Ah, maybe they did need Dalvin Cook. It's gonna
be too late, but it's going to be an awareness
of ain't have to start looking at this differently, because
I believe it right.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
They touched the ball more than any That's what I
don't get.
Speaker 7 (19:05):
They touched the ballboard than anybody outside of a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
But they're undervalue.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Hey, TJ. To answer your question, you exactly right. They
all undervalue. This is the reason why Execuel Elliott doesn't
have a job. Now, this is the reason why say
Kwan Barkley has received the franchise tag, because these teams
are looking at it as listen, I can get me
a Tony Pollard, I can get me a mile saying
there's an Isaiah pa Checko, a Boston Scott in the fourth, fifth,
(19:32):
and sixth rounds and not pay these guys thirteen twelve,
thirteen plus million dollars to running football because it's becoming
a position to where everybody knows that the running backs
position is not a long.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Job.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Basically to say, and you can get these guys like
Isaiah pa Checko, it just jumps off the board because
what is your fifth sixth round pick and he's a
start running back in Kansas City and the guys out
there and winning the world championships. So I think it's
going to be a thing that we are going to
continue to see moving forward as far as this position
is concerned, because you don't have to pay these guys
(20:13):
a whole lot of money to run the football because
he can find these guys anywhere. Just like you said,
you don't believe in it, but that is going to
become the new norm. If it wasn't, then then like
the New York Giants would have invested a long term
contract into say Kwon Barkley, But they don't have to because,
(20:33):
you know what, We're just going to just basically rent
the guy for sixteen weeks and without giving him a
long term deal and just to see if he can
go out and do it again. It maybe he will
be able to get a long term contract. That's just
the thing about the new norm the running back position
is that you know what, we're not going to pay
these guys a lot of money to run the football
(20:53):
and dable cooking. But it doesn't make sense. I mean,
this guy's one of the top five backs in all
of football. Grant that you know, he's signed of sixty
three million dollar contract back in two thousand. He's making
twelve million dollars a year, and I think he wanted out.
He's been voicing and saying that he basically wants to
get out.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
But I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
The the Minnesota Vikings are going to do moving forward
because it's all it's all a ball and chain and
Justin Jefferson is going to miss having Dalvin Cook in
the backfield.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
That's to me, that's my conclusion. That whole team is
going to miss having Dalvin Cook. The biggest thing that
I came away with when they were talking about releasing
him is they better have somebody in the wings that
can carry the load out of the backfield the way
Dalvin Cook did something comparable. Otherwise we're gonna find out
exactly who Kirk Cousins is.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
This is a Kirk Cousins season, right, this is a
Kirk Cousin season. It's been a Kirk Cousin super way.
That's fair. Know that, don't we already know that? Yeah?
But all right, so here's my thing.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
Here's why I want to throw out at y'all, and
I'm glad y'all saying that people will look at Kirk
cousin stats, people will look at his win line, people
will look at what he's been able to do in
terms of making it to the playoffs, and we will
call Kirk Cousins and even his contract justified, saying that
Kirk Cousins is a franchise quarterback. I don't think he's
(22:17):
that good, and I know he's a spartan. I know
this plex I don't want to hate on him.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
I can still get on the radio and talk okay,
and be honest. I'm just saying, for my own sake
of peace of mind of doing my job the right way,
I don't look at him as an upper excellance franchise
And if he is.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Not, I would say he's he's a B list.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
If the A lists are straight up franchise guys, I
would say Kirk Cousins falls into that B list of
franchise quarterbacks and could flirt with, you know, slipping out
of the B list the B list level. Now, with
that being said, he has done more than enough to
say that he requires the respect of what's he going
(23:02):
to do now? And can he be that guy without
that presence of a thousand yard runner out of the backfield?
That to me is almost like, Okay, if Minnesota is
planning on strategically rebuilding Minnesota, all right, you're strategically thinking
(23:24):
about it, then what you're going to do is we
are going to give Kirk Cousins the opportunity to either
A continue to earn this money off of this big
ass guaranteed contract that we gave him and not move
on from him, or B he's not, and it justifies
us completely gutting and renovating our offense to be able
(23:47):
to make this thing good for Justin Jefferson to stay.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
They just got rid of Thieling.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
Now you let go of Cook, you basically let go
of three, like two of your most important pieces on
that offensive side of the ball. So now all there
is is Justin Jefferson really and Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
If you're the Minnesota Vikings, you do not start rebuilding
a football team with releasing Dalvin Cook. It's not he's
supposed to beat it. You don't release as players. That's like,
how do you get better? You're gonna find players where
you're gonna find fourteen hundred yards with scrimmage.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
I don't know that's what he's been doing for.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
The last four years. Fourteen hundred years with scrimmage.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
More eleven hundreds than fourteens. But he did.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
He did eleven hundred, eleven hundred yards rush beat the
show injury.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
But he's still young.
Speaker 7 (24:43):
If he gets down to Miami, I don't know what
Miami doing down there, but they weren't like they're operating
with a different salary captain everybody else or.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Something they want him. They gonna have everybody.
Speaker 6 (24:56):
If they bring Dalvin Cook in there out on twenty four,
everybody and a mama gonna be trying to get the
Dolphins from Madden.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
It could be a rap if they get like that.
Any going back home and play football, I mean Northwest.
Here's a Florida boy.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
All right, let's let's get an update on on what
we got going on with Ilo. We'll talk DeAndre Hopkins
after well, you know what, Let's talk Bryce Young.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
No, no, no, let's go.
Speaker 6 (25:21):
We wanna talk Rice Young after the break we had
taught DeAndre Hopkins after Ilo fellas, we got what you got.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
We got a new development and a dominant story this week,
The Wall Street Journal has reported a short time ago,
the PGA Tour Commissioner j Monaghan told PGA Tour employees
that the PGA merged with the Live Tour this week
because it could not financially afford to compete with the
Live Tours Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. Monahan told the employees, quote,
(25:49):
we cannot compete with a foreign government with unlimited money
unquote a PGA.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Tours, PGA Tours delimited money.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Now that's what the PGA Tours for spokesperson said. The
PGA Tour spokesperson said, in a statement to ESPN today,
quote to characterize if this agreement was made due to
litigation costs and other use of reserves is an oversimplification unquote.
Notice they didn't say that it was wrong.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
They gonna spank y'all. That's that's I mean, that's that's
what it came down to. Love, They're gonna spank them. See, hey,
you can't go that deep out into the war, not
even the PGA Tour, not with that money.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
See, if the spokesperson would have used those words, I
think it would have been a more interesting statement.
Speaker 6 (26:32):
Well, they said it to hire me to have that
statement be done, because I tell you right now, we
were going to get spanked trying to keep up with
the court costs and legal fees and agent or all
that other stuff, lawyers all that. Yeah, we were just
gonna do the deal. They're gonna, they're gonna, they're gonna
bleed us out. They were gonna bleed the PGA out.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
That According to new PGA Tour spokesperson LeVar Aaronton, thank
you congratulations on your new gig.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
They needed some help. I know.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
I mean, you really cut it down to the nub.
It's like it's like you're their translator to reality.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
If I had to simplify for everyone out there at low.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
That's the most important part of public relations. In Game
four of the NBA Finals on Friday night, Denver What
at Miami? What away to ninety five? So Denver now
one went away from letting us find out just how
long John Morant is going to be suspend Oops, sorry
I said that wrong. Denver one went away from its
first NBA championship. They lead the series three games to one.
(27:33):
Finally fellas in the NFL, multiple outlets reporting that during
a future upcoming renovation of the Jacksonville Jaguars home stadium,
TIAA bank Field, one candidate to be their temporary home
stadium is the infield at Daytona International Speedway. A fascinating
(27:53):
possibility by the US Horrible.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
That sounds absolutely horrible anyway, But that's that's my opinion
on it. I'll tell you somebody else that's going to
have new digs to play in this this upcoming season
is going to be DeAndre Hopkins. He just went and
visited the Tennessee Titans. Listen very Mike, Mike, that was
wasn't that a teammate of yours? Plex I do maybe
(28:18):
maybe ye for five years. You know, if you know
Ray Uh, he speaks his mind.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
He's he really is a football player.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
Like when you say make a football player a coach,
like that really is a football player that that has
become a coach. Anyway, he was talking, not talk, saying
he's tired of recruiting people to want to come here.
They should have to come or they should want to
come here.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Doesn't look like I don't know about that. I mean,
I wish you want to win. That ain't gonna be
the first place you think of. Now if you show
me the money, I want to come there, but win
you think I'm thinking that's the first place.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Come on, they got something bells down there.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
But other than that, I mean what.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
We're talking about it they got they got the pancake pantry,
and they got Nashville Hot Chicken on me.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Other than that didn't.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Why would you go to Tennessee to to compete to
winning world championship and knowing that you have a Derrick
Henry in the backyard, who in the backfield, who's going
to get the ball thirty plus times a game. You
just fired John Robinson basically obliterated his football team when
he traded A J.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Brown.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
He traded uh Corey Davis. They fired him. So now
you want to bring in another elite receiver and DeAndre
Hopkins to to kind of, you know, a jump start
the offense.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
And as your your franchise that deliver.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Didn't they have an a leader and Ryan Tannehill. If
I'm free agent wide receiver, that Tennessee wouldn't even be
on my list to go play with a Ryan Tampa Hill.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
And you know you had a young elite wide receiver
and you chose to get rid of him.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
That's on you, Like what you don't want to recruit?
Speaker 7 (30:12):
God, you had a young elite wide receiver and you
chose to get rid of him.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
That's on you, Like what are you doing? That's y'all?
Speaker 7 (30:20):
Like sorry, you had him and AJ Brown and you said,
you know what, we don't want to pay you so.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
And Corey Davis. I mean, he's a good wide receiver.
Speaker 7 (30:32):
But if we we were talking elite elite, then you
had him in AJ Brown and he's young.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
This is your fault.
Speaker 7 (30:42):
Tennessee, and it could be why the GM was fired. Absolutely,
and now I mean that could be the case was
fired after the Eagles game when Tennessee went and played
in Philadelphia and A. J. Brown hit him for like
one hundred and seven of yards and he ain't even
get on to make it to the plane. He gave
him a bus ticket and say, man, drive back to
(31:02):
Tennessee from here. You ain't getting on.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
The play tarmac.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
If DeAndre Hopkins goes and plays with the Tennessee Titans,
they offered him the best deal as simple as that.
He not going there to win, just like he's not
going there because of the quarterback. I agree, he going
there because of the bread. All right, now, let me
throw this one out at you. He scheduled to go
visit the Patriots. Now, boss, are we raking the wide receivers?
(31:27):
I mean, are we raking new quarterbacks?
Speaker 5 (31:29):
Like?
Speaker 6 (31:30):
I mean, just I mean, let's just look at the scenario.
So however you want to take it, you go ahead and.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Take He's a seed plus maybe quarterback Hobson.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Yes, Mac Jones.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
I mean, if you go to New England, Bill Billtick
is going to make sure you get the football as a.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Wide Hell O'Brien is back in the mix, but.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
You're not going to get the elite played at the
quarterback position.
Speaker 6 (31:53):
And Max Jones the heir apparent to Tom Brady after his.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
They've been to the playoffs since twelve left, So that
should tell you just how good Bill billichicking them quartersback
has been over the past four or five years.
Speaker 7 (32:08):
Now they ain't been to the playoffs. Number it's you
can go through so many layers. When you talk to
New England Patriots. One, as we recall, you go back
some years. Bill O'Brien was a Houston Texans head coach
when they decided to trade DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona
Cardinals for David Johnson. I believe the second round pick.
(32:31):
How was that relationship that? Has that relationship been mended?
Does Hopkins want to.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
I could possibly be on site with Bill O'Brien if
that was how it went down, would go through that.
I'm at the high of my career. You just gonna
get rid of it. Basically, a running back that has
been undervalued. So I mean the league is league, he's
not in the league, and so that that's one layer.
(32:58):
The second layer is this and I don't know if
this is true.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
I don't know, but people say DeAndre Hopkins does not
like to practice.
Speaker 7 (33:07):
He's going to practice one day per week. From all
I hear with Bill butlerchick in New England, Patriots that
ain't working with him, Boss, that's not working. So now
what's gonna get You got an officeer coordinator that got
rid of you in your prime. You're going to a
team that wants it's players to practice and practice hard.
(33:29):
You don't do it. You in Arizona, whether it's great,
you don't want to practice there. You don't want to
practice in Houston when you're young.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
You think.
Speaker 7 (33:37):
Now I'm thirty one, I want to practice in bad weather,
when it's cold. And so there's just so many layers
involved in this. I don't think New England's a possibility
unless they give me fifteen a year. This fifteen a year,
I get out there and run my body into the
ground if you want me to practice, and I ain't
got nothing for you on Sunday, good look. And so
(33:58):
I don't see wingling being a possibility at all because
of the conditions that come with it.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
TJ.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Let me ask you a questions. Do you think that
he's still a number one.
Speaker 6 (34:12):
That's what that was going to be. My next one
is he still should he be considered.
Speaker 7 (34:15):
The lead like he gets it done differently than your
typical number one receiver because he's not going to separate
from you, right, get a ton of separation. He's not
the best route runner, but he's going to make contested catches.
And you know we owe fifty fifty balls. When it's
DeAndre Hopkins, it's seventy thirty balls. It's not fifty to fifty.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
With him.
Speaker 7 (34:40):
His ability, his hand eye coordination, his ability to make
hard catches looks somewhat simple.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
He good at catching them balls tj as you would
say Paul's he's I'm just saying he is a.
Speaker 7 (34:55):
Number one receiver. But you also you also got to
understand mac Jones rookie year. He played pretty well last year.
That's a mulligan because you had coaches that weren't offensive
coaches trying to be offensive coaches. And so I'll give
him a pass for last year. I'll just say this,
(35:16):
when you get a guy like DeAndre Hopkins, will a
quarterback feel comfortable throwing the ball to him when it
looks as if he's covered. You don't have an offseason
to go through, and so when do you develop that
trust that he's not open? But I'm gonna give him
an opportunity. That's hard because you've been taught when it
looks like he's covered, go the other way. You sometimes
(35:39):
as if you're forcing a ball to DeAndre Hopkins he
comes down with it. When is that trust gonna be built?
How long does that take? And I just don't see
it happening, because yes, he's a number one, but he
just gets it done differently than your typical Tyreek Hill.
He creates separation. He gonna run by you. Davonte Adams,
he creates separation. He gonna run by you. Justin Jefferson
he creates separation. He gonna run by you. Jamar Chase,
(36:00):
he creates separation. I go on and on and on
about these number one receivers. Hopkins is not gonna do that,
but he will make the play.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Right.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
We know that DeAndre Hopkins is not going to get
a lot of separation. But when Mac Jones was coming
out of college, the number one thing that they were
saying is that this guy is extremely accurate. So I
haven't seen the accuracy that that people have been talking
talking about. And now you you want to bring in
up DeAndre Hopkins, who isn't getting separation, so he's ex accuracy.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
You need to be accurate.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
So I don't understand what's going on over there because
Mac Jones is not the quarterback heir apparent to. I
ain't even gonna say the name because it don't even
make it make no sense to put Tom Brady the
same sentence with that guy.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Hey, I heard there's a whole lot of eligible a
list We was talking to a let's be ho the
heard there's a whole lot of a listeners not trying
to come after Tom Brady being a free agent. And
I ain't talking about no football teams either. This is
a game, man. That's DJ huschmans out. That's Plexico ber
like y'all work it out out here, man. I mean,
if I got some gray hairs coming in, man, you
see my my whole my whole chin is great, like
(37:11):
y'all wonder why I got a hat on which, by
the way, at some point we'll show y'all where y'all
could get the live stream because we are on zoom
right now.
Speaker 7 (37:19):
You can see our faces, you know, And I ain't
shade in ten days, man, I ain't got nohing. You
don't get this in Virginia, beach Man, you know what
I mean?
Speaker 6 (37:28):
All right, now that we've had our moment of vanity
on on live national radio, Hey, did y'all see that
Paul Pierce Kevin Garnett live stream?
Speaker 1 (37:37):
D Oh my gosh.
Speaker 6 (37:40):
Bro peace peace squall off the chain? What is wrong
with Paul? Almost now? I almost feel like you're doing
it on purpose. I kind of dig it anyway. Speaking
of somebody who's doing it on purpose, Bryce Young has
been elevated the QB one for the Panthers. I'm sure
that isn't by accident. We'll discuss that and more. Stay put,
stay tuned. This is Up on Game. We'll be right
(38:01):
back Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
Conning with the Underground. When to come around round and
round round we go? All right?
Speaker 6 (38:12):
All right, all right, welcome back into Up on Game.
We live from tyraq dot com Studios. I'm alongside my peeps,
Plexico Burds, t J. Hushman, Zada, And you know what,
my people at uh, my people at Carolina seemingly are
(38:34):
feeling really really good about what's taking place with the
Carolina Panthers and and what direction you know we're going in.
So you know, I'm just I'm just curious as to
with with everything that that is going on in Carolina
(38:56):
and the new coaching staff you know you got right,
and how that took place and how that ended in Indianapolis.
He's here now, he's got Bryce Young. He has now
been put at quarterback one. Should we read anything into
(39:18):
this this early of putting him into the number one's
position or is this just a getting a feel to
see how he's grasping the offense, his command of the offense,
is his leadership ability of of of grown ass men.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
In the National Football League? What? What?
Speaker 6 (39:39):
What was your guys takeaway from this when you saw
that he got that that number one position and got
those reps?
Speaker 3 (39:46):
If you the indian that was coach, what else are
you all you going to do?
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Well? It's the paths.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
I mean, you took him at I mean the pathers,
Yeah I don't, but you took him at the first
pick in the draft. That's what he's there to do.
I mean, who's who's going to be your starting quarter back?
Of Bryce Young is an under center on opening day,
who are you going to start? Man? I mean, Frank
Wright is supposed to be the quarterback guru when he
(40:11):
was in Philadelphia and he had a young Corson Wentz,
and then he went to Indianapolis and bought Carson Wentz
into the.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Fold and then they folded in the.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
Playoff game against the job against the Jacksonville Jaguarse and
then he got OUSTD after that game. So he needs
to win football games. And if he's a new head
coach of this team in this organization for a job
that I don't think think he deserves, but he's going
to have to play Bryce Young out of the gate,
get him acclimated to the system so he can be
(40:44):
up to speed with this offense when the season begins.
But I'm not surprised by him naming the number of
naming him the number one quarterback. That's what they're supposed
to do.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Exactly.
Speaker 7 (40:56):
When you're drafted number one and you're competing with Andy
Dalton and Matt Carrall who's in his second year but
drafted in the third round, you're going to be the starter.
It's just a matter of time. I guess it was
semantics disease. Everybody knows he's gonna start. Everybody was saying
(41:17):
he was the most ready to start as a rookie.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Man, you said it.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Yeah, if he wasn't the starter, I would have been shocked.
Speaker 7 (41:28):
And so I'm not surprised. Yes, right now, what's the
point of waiting? You know he's going to be the starter? Oh,
there are steps we were taking. What steps were you
taking just to announce at a later time?
Speaker 1 (41:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (41:41):
I mean I would say, to show that he's ready
to play. I mean I mean, once you start saying
QB one and he's in the QB one position, now,
it's like anytime he's not in that position, Like what
did they get to the point of where it's like
we don't feel like he's ready yet?
Speaker 3 (41:55):
That's not I mean did he even get a chance
to compete for the job or was it just given it?
Speaker 6 (42:01):
That's I mean, right, I don't know, right exactly, I
don't know. I mean it's a great question. I mean,
doesn't sound like he's competing for it. Sounds like he
took it.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Hey man, come on, man, we got you.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
Yeah. Well all right, well there you go. Good luck
to you, Bryce.
Speaker 6 (42:16):
And congratulations, congratulations to you.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
You're listening to Up One Gay.
Speaker 6 (42:23):
That's Stretch, Armstrong and Panteen, Man of LeVar to gratulations,
lock up, buckle up for for hour two.
Speaker 1 (42:32):
Up All Gay, We'll be right back Fox Sports Radio.
Congratulations
