Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Here we go, Here we go one more Saturday morning
and for aunt as Anthony Garganto will return. Gosh, I
don't even know what date is on the fifteenth of July,
so it is the eighth, right it is? It is
the eighth Here on Fox Sports Radio with the crew
Kevin Figures, Ethan and Mark running the show, we got

(00:25):
you covered for the next four hours. Good morning, Kate,
think how are you man? Doing great? Chris is going on, brother,
I'm excited. I'm excited to get to chop it up
with you for the next four hours, to talk to
the people on Twitter?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
What is at k FIG one? Is that right?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
That's it at k FIG one. I'm at Plank show.
Everyone should follow us at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
I am.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I feel like I'm missing out a little bit, but
I'm being kind of like a staunch old man on
the threads thing because I feel like we do this
about once since since Ethan Ethan good Job taken over
on Twitter, since Elon Musk has taken over Twitter, I
feel like about once every other month, people are moving

(01:09):
on to some sort of new platform and they're just
done with Twitter, right, I can't remember what it was
like six months ago.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
And then there was something called.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Blue Sky that you had to ask to be a
part of, and I was like, bleep that I'm asking
to be a part of your social media site. I mean,
you want to talk about implosion. And now we got Threads,
which is one of the more Instagram like Twitter things
we've ever had in our life without reels. I just
I've made a staunch stance here before we dive into

(01:43):
all the sports news. If Twitter goes down, I'm going
down with it. I have too. I'm to committed. I
don't have the energy kfig to try to build a
new following on a site that it does and even
let you look in sequential time order.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I'm good if Twitter doesn't make it.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I don't think I need another social media platform in
my life. I think I'll be okay with Instagram. I
think I'll be okay with the Book of Faces. I
think I'm good. I think I'm good. How about did
you start a Thread's account to this week or no?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
I have not yet started a thread's account, but it
certainly could be pending. And by the way, with your
massive TikTok following, what do you even need Twitter for comactly.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I mean, you guys have to understand something here and
as we come to you live from the tire rack
dot com studios.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
This is not me being facetious. It is true. Well
not just at tire rack dot com is great.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
They'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I waste enough time on a daily basis on Twitter,
and then you add to it. Now this horrific addiction
that I have to Instagram reels.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Could you imagine kfig.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
If I actually had TikTok, which is Instagram reels in
real time?

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yes, which it's steroids. Yes yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Instagram reels is everything that was on Twitter like a
month later.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
TikTok is all right.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
I'm never gonna do anything in life but sit here
and play on my phone, right and I can't have that.
I gotta I've got to be a functioning member of society.
It's hard enough to put my phone down with Twitter
and with all of my apps when I follow everything
that's going on in sports. So call this old man
yelling at Clouds to start the show today, kfig. I'm
just if things don't work with Twitter dot Com or

(03:40):
this bird app, I think I'm out. I don't think
Threads is gonna be a thing for me. I don't
think Blue Sky is gonna be a thing for me.
I don't think Parlor, if that's even still a thing,
is gonna be a thing for me. I don't think
the other I can't remember the other one. We try
to build up. It's just, you know, the last time
we did this, everyone's like CBS News has moved all
of its content off of Twitter and it's putting it

(04:02):
on Instagram.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
And then like literally a week later.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
It was back like, hey look, CBS News magically back
on Twitter.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Smiled how that works? It's okay? Thing pretty crazy, so crazy.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Although I will say, and there was something that happened
earlier this week where I guess it was on a
trial basis. Twitter was restricting the amount of tweets you
can see in a twenty four hour period or something
like that.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
It happened during our show. It was during our show.
It happened during our show last Saturday morning. Because I
do we'll get to win. Bin Yama I mean, everyone listen.
If you want to know the dumbness of Twitter, just
follow the trends on wim bin Yama or listen here
tomorrow throughout the day today with everyone.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
That's like, I've seen it. He's boss, you know, he's
just not any good.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
But we were. I do two shows on Saturday. Well,
I mean with Anthony how I do two shows. I
do a college show after this, which I love, by
the way, thanks dude, and which is a much different
world when you're coming off a four hours talk show.
I'm gonna tell you absolutely, But no, I.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I thought I broke Twitter.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
I really did, because we got through our show yesterday,
I'm sorry Saturday, and then all day long I couldn't
get back on Twitter.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
It kept saying rate limit exceeded. And in the early.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Days, back in the early days of Twitter, the wild
wild West of Twitter, that meant they shut you down.
That meant, all right, you've been you've been on Twitter
too much. You need to take a chill, you need
to step away. And I think it was just part
of the technology, and everyone lost their mind. And then
in the process of last Saturday, we found out that

(05:37):
something called data scraping was a concern and people that
had the Twitter blue, all of a sudden, we're giving
like eight thousand characters explaining why this was necessary. Then
tweet deck went down, and then it was like, well,
you can't have tweet deck unless you have I mean,
it just became an absolute s show. And I would

(05:58):
love to have like one one to one hundredth of
the income that Elon Musk has. But there is one
area that he is absolutely terrible. I mean absolutely, Elon.
You're communicating is not his strength and doing so in
a way that can explain it without sounding like an
a hole. So he had to sound like a pompous
a hole when explaining or eight limited seeded and all

(06:20):
of that's like maybe you should step outside. And then oh,
I don't think people realize even though it's free for
a lot of people. I don't think people realize kfing
how much for yeah, influencers, I guess would be one
way to put it, writers, marketing people, Twitter's a big
freaking deal for them, right, they need it. And when

(06:41):
suddenly you have a guy that's like why don't you
get outside read a book or something, It's like what
are you doing?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
That is, yeah, what are you doing.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
So I think they've got it fixed now because I
haven't had that.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Problem since well, and from what I understand, it was
a trial basis to see how it will work out.
And by the way, with Elon, I'm pretty sure he
was very intentionally doing what he did and trying to
get a out of people.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
That does not surprise me.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
But I will say not only for writers and media
organizations and Twitter and influencers, I mean for us if
we're to pull back the curtain, but I mean we
use Twitter especially more than any of the social media
platform for what we do because nowadays there's no AP
ticker at least not that I know of.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Do I know of either?

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, news breaks now generally speaking on Twitter first. So
when when we have breaking news and one of the
insiders says something, generally speaking, they send out a tweet.
We monitor all of these tweets and we present it
to you guys over the air. So it does actually
help us and what we do in a great way
in delivering our listening audience breaking news that you potentially

(07:41):
might not be able to see if you're driving around
or working or what have you. So it does add
extra value for what we do as well. Could not
agree more so with that in mind.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
No threads to check out yet, Yes, but find us
on Twitter at kfig one. I'm at Plank Show and
everybody should follow us at Fox Sports Radio. Okay, what'd
you think? It's been wild to watch the reaction. I
did not know there were still Britney Spears fan accounts

(08:10):
that decided to take Wimbin Yama getting dunked on last
night as the greatest moment for Britney Spears since I
don't know what her debut album since oops, like yeah,
since since oops, I did it again dropped?

Speaker 1 (08:25):
I mean it was.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
It was pretty hilarious to watch it, but I kinda
I kind of got what I what I expected. I
saw some of those moments where you're, damn, this guy
is going to be good, and I saw some of
those moments where I'm like, hey, he's a he's still
a gangly nineteen year old kid. I just I'm okay, fig.
I wasn't expecting him to go out there and put
thirty and twenty on the board last night, and I

(08:48):
knew when he didn't, there would be people that would
lose their mind. If you listened to the Brian Windhorsts
of the world who have spent time around him and
watched a lot of them. He warned everyone, listen, it's
not going to be he's pretty sometimes you know, he's
gonna get dunked on, he's going to get embarrassed. But
every now and then there's gonna be a play where
you're or you're just jaw dropped. And I kind of

(09:09):
got what I expected, But I was blown away with
some of the reaction by people last night. Well, actually
shouldn't say that. I work with Arnie Spaniard. He can
watch one shot and tell you that a guy's terrible
or great. But I just I don't know, okay, Fi,
I was a little bit blown away how quick and
knee jerk we wore to a certain degree. But then
on the on the other side of him, like, why
does anything like that surprise me with how we reacted.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Yeah, I'm with you on the on the ladder part
of that, the way that we are such an instant.
You know, a guy struggles in his first game and
all of a sudden, he's the worst player in the world,
And why did you draft from first? Overall realizing that
this is a kid who's as lanky as it gets.
And I was actually encouraged to your point taking some
positives away. I mean, his ability as a passer looks spectacular, right,

(09:51):
not being able to finish in the paint, all right,
he weighed eight pounds. He's gonna put on some weight.
He's gonna get stronger. And for the people that want to,
you know, overreact to a guy struggling in his in
the summer pro league. Or I remember when Shoeyo Tani
came up with the Angels in the spring training and
he was awful, absolutely terrible, embarrassingly bad. Hit like seventy
seven regular season comes out and all of a sudden,
he's Showeo Tani. Derek Rose was terrible in his first

(10:14):
summer league with the Chicago Bulls, turn into an MVP.
Was one of the best point guards in the league
for five six years before he ended up getting injured.
It's gonna take time for these guys to come in
and develop, So I wish that people would not overreact.
But because he received so much hype, so much, you know,
a drama coming out of the draft that he was
gonna be the savior of the league, the next Lebron
James all of that. If he doesn't show in his

(10:37):
first game by getting thirty and twenty that he's capable
of doing that, then people are gonna freak out and say,
this guy's going to be a giant bust. So it's
just it's unfortunate, but that's just how the sports sports
cycle goes.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
If you didn't watch last night and there's a party,
that doesn't blame you, Right, I'm not a I'm not
a big summer league guy. I usually pushed back against
some of it just because And again, if you're up
early and Okasey love you four oh five, but you know,
anyone that does anything good in the summer league Kfigre's not.

(11:09):
I can't wait to see what happens whenever we get
back after it in the fall, it quickly becomes Cole
Aldridge is going to be the next Larry Bird, right,
or you know, Trey Man is like Chris Paul on steroids.
You're like, can everyone kind of calm down just a
little bit. I'm I'm of the belief. I'm of the
belief that there are things you can take from the

(11:30):
summer league. I also think that there's also things that
you need to make sure you put in perspective, and
we don't do that. We don't do that the Royal
we I feel like I'm at my old age. I
feel like I'm getting a little bit better about doing that.
Twenty two to twenty three year old Chris Plank, if
Twitter was around, would have probably been out there like
this guy sucks someone mix in a cheeseburger.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
What's he doing? Right?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
But I get it, It's part of the process. But
I keep pulling back. I keep thinking Draymond Green was right.
Draymond Green was right. Draymond Green was I'm gonna keep
saying it all morning long, and I'm gonna play the
clip as the show progresses. But he said it many times.
I got Paul George's podcast, which, by the way, Draymond

(12:16):
Green's said a lot of really good stuff on that podcast.
That kind of I like Draymond Green whenever he's bouncing
off someone else, when he's just sitting there and riffing,
I'm like, yeah, this is painful. But you get him
in a setting where he's got Paul George and I
don't remember who else was on with him, but it
was he kept saying, and it's true.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
They are setting.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Up a level of expectation for this kid that is unattainable.
You know, we did the same thing with Lebron, We
did the same thing with Ben Simmons, We did the
same thing with Zion Williamson, and as you.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Know, mixed bagger results so far.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
I feel like, I don't know about you, Kfig, but
with the talk around Victor winbin Yama, it's almost been
another let even from what I remember with the kid
out of Ohio Zion.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Zion was different because.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
He played college ball and we all had a chance
to see him, and we all had a chance to
jar our own conclusions, and we saw someone that was
built like, oh gosh, I mean an NFL edge rusher almost.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
I was like, dude, look at this guy that was.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Doing things physically with his feet and how he was moving.
He're like, damn, this guy is going to be incredible
and he can't stay healthy. But I even feel from
that it's kind of on that level of unseen. And
I also felt like last night was the first time
a lot of people even got to see him play
outside of highlights from France. So if you missed it,
he finished the night stat line wise two for thirteen,

(13:47):
but he still scored nine points, had eight rebounds, eight rebounds,
blocked five shots, and had three assists. And you hit
it on the head. He can flat out and flat
out moved to basketball. That kid almost has a second
set of eyes. But he got dunked on. He fell

(14:09):
trying to defend a couple of guys. You could see
that it was a little bit awkward at times, and
then afterwards, I think I think this audio will work well.
Afterwards he talked about just still trying to find his
way over.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
I'm glad we won this game. There's no better way
to start, uh, to start for a premiere and uh, yeah,
you know, I'm honestly, I didn't really know what I
was doing on the court tonight, but it's uh, it's
you know, I'm trying to learn for the mixed games,
and the importance is to be ready for the season.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
You know, you know, it's funny. I love that approach.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Like, listen, I'm still learning.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Didn't really know what I was doing last night, but kay, fake,
it's going to be part of the process with him.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yeah, and he.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Seems to be mature enough to understand that it's not
all gonna come quickly and come easily, and like he
f into the san Antonio sper mode right the humble quiet.
So it just just happened to work out that he
will fall into the lap of San Antonio. So I
think I think he's in good hands down there with
Pop Get, a chance to have a resurgence for that franchise,
an injunction of life. But as far as I'll say,

(15:16):
as far as the hype goes to, I do remember
Lebron James Get. He got so much hype on he
was even sixteen, a couple of years before he was
even eligible to come into the draft. Now, maybe it
was different because he was a domestic player. I feel
like Victor wimbona kind of burst onto the scene for
a lot of people, maybe around this time last year,
or maybe slightly before the draft of last year. But
I mean, I remember when Lebron was coming out, people said,

(15:37):
this guy is Maggie Johnson and Michael Jordan rolled into
one and You're like, this is there's no end in hell.
This guy can live up to it, and you can argue,
I would argue that he's actually surpassed expectations. I mean,
as of right now, for most people. The conversation between
who's the best player of all time begins and ends
with him and Michael Jordan. Like, so he came as close.
The problem with Victor Wimbinyama is, like Chris, he can

(15:58):
he can have a career of like in a chem Olaju
and still be considered like not reaching its full potential.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
You could sit there all day long and come up
with ways to dump on that. Not your take, Kevin figures,
but on what Victor winbin Yama did last night. Yeah,
I mean you easily could or you could you know,
stop and realize, dang, that was game one.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
He gonna play again tonight. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
By the way, we're gonna sit here and I would
imagine through the next you know, three hours and forty
five minutes, we're gonna retext, we're gonna hear from experts,
and in the end we're gonna say audio said what
eight am Central times six am on the West Coast,
and then we're gonna turn around and say, oh, yeah,
by the way, you can watch them again tonight, and

(16:47):
every single hot take that you had from last night
could completely be irrelevant by the time that things wrap up. Yeah, well,
hold on not tonight tomorrow night, whenever the Spurs play again.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
By the time they play again on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Go nine to thirteen scored twenty eight points with seven
block shots and fifteen rebounds.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
I think he's gonna be the greatest player who ever lived.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
I told you what he learned. That's what he does,
k fag He learns and adapts. All right, So there's
Wimbin Yama. I would love to hear your reactions this morning,
so hit us up on Twitter at k FIG one.
I'm at Plank Show, and everyone should be following us
at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
There were other.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Things in sports last night, including a sudden resurgence in
Major League Baseball. We'll dive into it next on Fox
Sports Radio. All right, it's the Fellas here on Fox
Sports Radio. In for Anthony Gargano. I'm Chris Plank, Kevin
Figures alongside Ethan and Mark making sure we stay on

(17:41):
the rails, and of course hearing from you all morning
long at k FIG one. I'm at Plank Show. Everyone
follow us at Fox Sports Radio. We'll have more on
Wimbin Yama coming up in just a bit. In fact,
I was telling I think it was Ethan or Mark.
During the break, I went and Doug, you brought up
a really good compare Otani's first spring training Derek Rose's

(18:05):
summer league debut.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
There's more. There's more, but I've got some numbers from.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Those that will blow your mind, all right, and we'll
get to them coming up in a bit. I can
hear you. I don't need numbers. I saw it with
my eyes. Hey, he's this, he's that.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Okay. I still, by the way, there was I still came.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Away, blown away with how he can handle the rock,
blown away at seven foot. What he keeps growing every
time people talk about him. Right, he was seven three
and a half ninety seven to four. Now he's seven
to seven. And we got the whole Britney Spears mess
we haven't even talked about yet. But as we come
to you this morning or late into the evening from

(18:45):
the tirak dot com studios, we're also brought to you
by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable. Get
a multi policy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
ATV and more all your protection in one place. Bundle
and save at Progressive. Now, if you're just waking up
on the East coast. You missed a doozy last night

(19:06):
in San Diego, and it happened because the Mets are
suddenly good.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
Swayna groundball toparts the left side. It's throw with the
left of base hit Alvarez scores. Here comes Tommy famb
he scores without a throw. It's a two run single
for Francisco Lindor.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
And in the end, the Mets.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Swinging a fly ball right field, drifting back as Starling
Marte on the warning track. He's there, he makes the
catch and the ballgame is over. The Mets, in extra
innings defeat the San Diego Padres seven to five.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Now, there's a great line in the movie Pulp Fiction
where who was the Wolfman was trying to get on
Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta, and he uses a
rather crude phrase about to not start celebrating a little
bit too early, if you know what I mean. So
there is a moment where the Mets win. They make

(20:07):
it six in a row, but there's still four games
under five hundred. They're not going to factor into the
National League East conversation. But in this era of the
wild card and three wild card spots, you know, suddenly
you move up to you know, under double digits back.
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna sit here and proclaim

(20:29):
that at six and a half back of the wild
Card suddenly, kfig look out, the Mets are back.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
But for as much as this team has been.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Destroyed, dogged, mocked, made fun of, Buck, Showalter has stayed
pretty resolute and saying, hey, don't let us get hot.
And I know that's what everyone says when they suck.
But do we suddenly look at the Mets and think
they've turned things around or do you need a little
bit more in your body of work and your evidence.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
I still need to see a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
I think it's encouraging that they've turned this thing around
so far, but I mean, you look.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
At who they've beaten.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
They've beaten a good Diamondbacks team, obviously, but you know,
and the Giants have been solid. But I mean, I
really don't necessarily trust the Mets at this point in time.
And also I have concerns about their pitching staff being
able to hold up throughout the course.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Of the year.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
With Verlander and Shurs have both had to deal with
injury issues. They're both pushing forty Verlander's already forty. I
have concerns about their rotation. Offensively, I think they should
end up being fine. I think Lindor finally gets hot
and starts turning things around.

Speaker 6 (21:30):
You know.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
I think from an offensive standpoint, they are just underperforming,
similar to San Diego. No, they're not as good of
an offensive lineup as San Diego is. But I do
think some of their regular some of the guys that
they've been relying on, just have not been hitting for
whatever reason. So you get those guys to turn it
around a little bit. I do believe they can compete
for a wild card spot. But I actually, if you're
asking me today, do I think they're actually gonna make
it there? I'm not ready to say that quite yet,

(21:53):
mean either me neither, but I think it's fun. Here's
Buck Showalter afterwards last.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Night, what ultimately do you think one the game?

Speaker 7 (22:00):
I'm almost guys, I said, that's it, and the only
thing I can tell you twenty things. You know, Verlanders,
much like Max, you know, not carrying his normal stuff
in command and getting staying engaged. Those are the games
that I am really, you know, honored and proud to
watch those guys pitch because they get out there and survive.

(22:20):
In those games. Mark Canni is sticking his nose in
there and blocking the ball, and throw them out at
third base, throw him out first base. I'll be having
a very professional bat hitting the ball of the way.
The conversation I had with Jeff McNeil about getting him
over said even I said, I want breaking ball, first
pitch and try to hook him, and he did. You
let me keep going about ten other ones.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
It's it's a start contrast to some of Buck show
Walter's press conferences. But I'll tell you what, as much
as I enjoy, as much as I enjoy watching fan
bases that are constantly miserable, stay miserable, remember the Raider exactly,
it is pretty cool to see the way that the

(23:04):
Mets have righted the ship.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
For now. We'll see if they can keep it going tonight.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Against the Padres, but at the very least keep up
alive in New York.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
It's not the only baseball that happened last night.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
We need to get to coming up in just a bit,
Mookie Bets single handedly putting the Dodgers on the cusp
but first place, but first as we come to you
live from the ti Raq dot Com studios. K Figs
got an update on everything that happened last night. What's up,
Kevin Figures?

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Yes, Chris and sticking with Major League Baseball. You mentioned
the Dodgers. They got two home runs from Mookie Bets
on Friday night. He was robbed of another one could
have had a three home run night either way. The
Dodgers dominated the Angels eleven to four for their third
trade victory.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
You mentioned the Mets, They've won six in a row.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
They beat the Padres seven to five and extras on
Friday night. Padres saw their three game win streak snapped
Arizona snapping your four games skid as well with the
victory over Pittsburgh. Seven shoutout innings for Luis Castil Seattle
As ten to one victory over Houston. Alec Manoa struck
out eight, I should say, snapped an eleven start winless streak.
Blue Jay's being Detroit by the score of twelve to two.

(24:09):
Spurs rookie victor bit Win Binyama scored just nine points
and shot fifteen percent from the field in his summer
league debut on Friday. Second overall pick Brandon Miller struggled
in that game as well. For Charlotte, he scored fifteen
points on just five of fifteen shooting in what was
a nine point victory for the Spurs. And Golf Cameron
Young two stroke lead at the PGA of inn Illinois,
Cameron Smith a one stroke lead at the Invitational in London,

(24:31):
and in the UFC. He was announced on Friday. Hivoy
champion John Jones with a fenn his title Againsteve A.
Miocic on November eleventh at Madison Square Garden. All right,
back to Chris Plank, I'm a sucker for John Jones,
by the way. Yeah, there's certain things in sports, kfig
that I will always fall for.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
And this is history too. I would always buy Mike
Tyson fight. I would always buy Mike Tyson fight. UFC
if Rampage accent was in it, I was in. I
was in. And now John Bones Jones, that's that's like
my guy. I think he is one of the most
exciting and entertaining fighters on the planet. Now you got

(25:13):
to separate the mess that he's been away from the cage.
Of course there have been many Yeah, she was outside
of the couchess man, but whenever I heard he was
fighting step A.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
I was like, oh our stime. Sorry. I was like, ah,
let's go. I'm in on that.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
So I I know it's probably not going to be
what I wanted to be, but in my mind, I'm
envisioning like this incredible fight.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
So oh you'll same. Well, both of those guys are
past their prime at this point too, but Doog John's
still a great fighter technically undefeated. I know he lost
by DQ, but he hasn't actually lost a legitimate loss
in his UFC career.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
He made Daniel Cormier cry.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Right, I mean he literally one of the greatest heavyweights
of our era, was in tears. Now come, I love
Daniels and Oklahoma guy, I'll defend you to the hill.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Right.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
He was on performance enhancing drugs, but even when he wasn't,
he still beat the snot out of you. So I
am I'm a big bones Jones guy. I can I
cannot wait, cannot wait see that fight. Hey, We're brought
to you this morning by Discover. At the end of
your first year, Discover credit cards automatically double all the
cash back you've earned. That's right, everything you've earned is doubled.

(26:21):
Seriously see terms and check it out for yourself at
discover dot com slash match. I mentioned there's some other
baseball that we need to get to, and you brought
up the Dodgers. I am just so intrigued by whether
or not they can continue to patch this pitching staff together.
It seems like every single time things get going for them,

(26:44):
something happens that steps him back injury wise. Yet last
night it was a Mookie being incredible, and well there
was there is also this certain catcher who is starting
to come into his own forum.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
And Will Smith.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
With a home run over the wall and left beyond
the out of town four more, Will Smith's thirteen home
run of the year.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Here's the thing. Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
They have not been a bad baseball team this year
by Dodgers standards, right, They're not where they should be,
but based on the way things have gone, based on
the injuries that they've dealt with. And I know it
was your Angels last night, and we'll get to that
coming up after the top of the hour with show
Hay and the injuries, and he's still playing it when

(27:35):
one for three last night with a run scored.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Also had to walk.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
But to see Mookie Betts do what he's done over
the last few weeks. He was three for four last
night with four runs batted in. Will Smith went three
for five. You know, the top three hitters in the
lineup had seven hits and seven of the eleven runs
batted in for the Dodgers. They went through four different
pitchers and maybe maybe even though he walked a few guys,
maybe Tony Gonsolin's best for perfemance of the season so

(28:01):
far as he continues to work his way back. I'm okay, fake,
I'm starting to believe a little bit. They're only a
half game out of first place right now, behind that
really good Diamondbacks team who seems to be coming back
to earth just a bit.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
They're four and six in their last ten games.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
But the Dodgers in now twelve games over five hundred,
this amazing baseball team in Cincinnati. The Dodgers would have
a game and a half lead over them in the
National League Central right now. They're in a good spot
as far as the wild card is concerned. I know,
should we were talking about this with the Mets and
Mets fans suddenly feeling some sort of way. Should Dodger

(28:38):
fans be feeling some sort of ways as maybe they've
turned the corner a bit, or do you have to
pull back and say, hold on just a little bit here, cowboy,
that was three or four that they took from the
pirates and they just lost a series to the Kansas
City Royals before then, and now a hobbled Angels team
coming into town. Is okay to get over your skis

(29:01):
or do you need to get that perspective a little
bit as to their competition.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Well, have a little bit of.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Perspective and also realize where they sit right now. You know,
was at fifty to thirty eight. You know, they've had
so many injuries. You talked about the ups and downs,
and as soon as it looks like they're turning to
a corners, something else pops up. You know, the starters
were terrible for a while and the bullpen carried them.
Then the bullpen was awful and the starters carried them.
Then the offense has pretty much been consistent all season long.
You know, their top guys Freddie Freeman, Mookie Bets, and

(29:27):
Jady Martinez have pretty much carried them offensively. Max Munsey
has power, but he's hitting under the Mendoza line. A
couple of their young kids that they're expecting a lot
out of having really produced a whole lot.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
James Aubman got off to a good start, cooled off.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Yo Vargas might possibly get sent down, is something Dave
Roberts alluded to on Friday. So, considering all the adversity
that they've been through, all the injuries on their pitching staff,
for them to sit where they currently sit, I would
be encouraged.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
I'd be cautiously optimistic.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Now.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
The issue is, as you inch closer to the postseason,
you're gonna need arms. And right now they're hurting. Right now,
they're hurting in this stardened rotation. They're hurting in the bullpen.
Daniel Hudson just went down and he may be out
for an extended period of time. So the biggest concern
for me with the Dodgers as they move forward it
is I think they have enough horses to make themselves,
you know, pretty comfortable as far as getting into the

(30:14):
wild card or winning the division even But it's like
once you get there and having the requisite amount of
arms to get you to the promised land I think
will be my major concern, but those are things that
you could potentially shore up at the trade deadline. But
so all things considered, I think I will be costly optimistic,
is how I would frame it right now.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
If I were a Dodger fan.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
It's interesting to me, kfik because I've always wanted to
see the Raiders look at me, see the Dodgers go
with a little bit of a youth movement that's about.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
The same fan base of workers.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
It's how I feel right now. They're both letting me down.
Bile I I gotta tell you something. They went with
a bit of that youth movement this year, and then
everything I ever wanted, I'm like pissed. Now, I'm like,
why do they go get X guy and free agency?
Were they trying to trade for this guy? When I mean,
it's just it's so dumb. I'm such a dumb fan sometimes.

(31:05):
And the injuries mount up, right, that's the may and
his I love this kid's stuff. I'm just starting to
worry with injuries. Is it just gonna be almost impossible
to overcome? Already have to keep preaching patience here is
I love the death in the inconsistency at.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Times, injuries this year for him to injuries for him.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
I just I wonder if maybe you got to pull
back and say, calm down. This has been a pretty
blessed run for the Dodgers over the last decade.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
But it's still a good.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Enough team with enough talent to where they can make
a run. Now that run might not be to get
to the World Series, and it might be difficult to
overcome anything that's happening right now in Atlanta. The Braves
just look like they're on another level. And to be
honest with you, I don't know if the Reds have
the pitching, but they've definitely got the offense and the

(31:59):
energy or I don't want to see them in any
series in the postseason if they continue this hot streak
and get there. But to see the Dodgers start to
turn it around a little bit, that's been a positive
thing I think for Dodger fans everywhere.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Yeah, and then one thing I'll say too before I
check out here you're talking about you know what the
fan and you jump sound say, is why.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Didn't we sign this guy? Why didn't we keep Trey Turner?

Speaker 3 (32:19):
Why all those guys that you're talking about were on
the roster last year that won one hundred and sixteen
games and lost to the Padres in the first round.
That's right, So it's really about who's playing well, who's
hot at the right time. This Dodger team can get
hot at the right time in the first round, eliminate
the Braves, who have the best record of the National League,
and make a run to the NLCS of the World
Series with just a couple of veterans at the top

(32:41):
and a bunch of young guys you just don't know.
You know, having a great team with all stars, superstars
up and down the roster doesn't guarantee you anything, especially
in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Victor woman Yama made his debut last night. If you
missed it, he finished with nine points, eight boards, three assists,
five blocks, but the story was the two for thirteen
and he got dunked on. But when we come back,
will continue to give you reasons for optimism, and it's
wild Kfig. We've talked a little Dodge Baseball. We dove

(33:10):
into the Mets from last night. We've obviously talked a
lot about Wimby's debut, but the early reactions on Twitter
dot com is demanding college football talk dive into it.
Next on Fox Sports Radio, my man's Shady Sean on
Twitter at Shady Sean for twenty, which must mean his

(33:34):
birthday is April twentieth or something significant.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
On the twenty.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Always says, I don't do a good job of letting
people know on Twitter when we're on the air. So
I'm I consider if you were up early and you
caught it or stay not late on the West Coast
party that you got like a bonus hour with Kfig
and I. So the tweet. Here's the tweet that I

(33:59):
have can instructed. Ethan is the producer. If you want
to fine tune this, Kfig, if you feel like we've
missed anything, make sure I'll let you. We get into it,
said hanging out Kfig Fox Sports Radio. Right now, right now,
Wimby debut, Mets back, Dodgers, trying to figure it out,
Oh Tani on the move, which we'll get to next hour.

(34:21):
Under the radar college football storylines and is there really
drama with the Bills? Sound like a good promotion tweet
to you guys, I like you, Ethan, you good with it.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
I'll take a time. I'm do with it. I'm happy.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
I shall hit tweet and then as soon as I
tweet it, I'll find five or six spelling errors.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
That's the way I go. That's the way it lives.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
I have pumped to hang out with you, Kevin Figures,
because I know I can talk college.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Football with you anytime, anywhere. Let's go and next hour.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Here's my challenge to you next hour, right, because I've
got well and you know what, I want to give
you more time my hour three. I want you to
think about these for hour three. And I'm just gonna
tell you I'm stealing this. But yet it's not like
it was an original thought from the dude who posted it. Okay,
no fits and my man Peter Burns over at ESPN

(35:10):
and the SEC Network, but he posted this yesterday. And
we're reaching that point in the college football season. We're
forty nine days away from week zero.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Right.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Let me give you some numbers here real quick.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
We're thirty three days away from the first preseason NFL game, right,
We're sixty one days away from the NFL opener on
a Thursday night. We are forty nine days away from
week zero in the college football season, and we are
fifty six days away from the first full Saturday of
the college football season. So, in other words, skinting here,

(35:43):
it's getting here. So here here's my question for you.
Let's see it is our wrapping up hour one. We're
going to kick off hour three with College Football Talk.
Biggest storyline heading into the twenty twenty three college football season,
most overblown storyline, the most underrated team, the team with

(36:05):
the most pressure, and the biggest surprise.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
So there's there's five. We'll reset them throughout the show.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
And I've got a couple of under the radar storylines
I want to get into, but they think about that
k thing And I'll shoot you the tweet just so
you have it, because you know me, I'll forget about.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
It if you don't find me whenever we get to it.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
So, and I'd love for y'all that are up early
to play along too.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
It's very simple.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Biggest storyline, most overblown storyline, most underrated team, team with
the most pressure, and the biggest surprise.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Possibly I will say this now.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Every one is like, oh gosh, who's going to be
this year Cincinnati? And who's going to be this year's TCU.
Let me give you just one piece of advice when
looking for that team, find a squad that has experience. Experience. Now,
you're not going to find it necessarily with the Georgia
teams because they graduated a lot of people just like

(37:08):
they did of the year before, but they're replacing first
round NFL picks with five star college football talent out
of the high school ranks. But a team like TCU
last year who ended up getting a lot of guys drafted,
Max dug and Kendre Miller, Quinton Johnston, among others. That
was a veteran team, that was a team that while
they I think the term that a lot of TCU

(37:29):
people used was topped off in the transfer portal, the
more you kind of dig into it, bro they did
a little bit more on top and off in the
transfer portal. There was a lot of guys that played
major roles for them. But still look for a team
that's got a little bit more experience, and I think
I found one.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
I think I found it.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
We'll get into it a little bit later on in
the program. But k Fig wim Bin Yama's wim Bin
Yama's debut, thank You is the talk of the sports
world this morning, and I thought you said something that
made a lot of sense. We are not in an
era where patience is a virtue anymore. You better have

(38:05):
a piping hot take, and by god, it better be
judgmental right away. Victor Winbinyam is going to play another
game on Sunday, and everything that happened here tonight will
either our last night will either be old news or
it'll be hammered home that he's just not what we
thought he was. Let me take you back to a
little year known as twenty eighteen. Shohei Otani made his

(38:31):
big league debut in spring training with the Los Angeles Angels.
Otani as a pitcher, at least from what I could
find only through two and two thirds of an inning,
gave up three home runs and had a twenty seven ERA.
And at the plate, kfig As you brought up four
for thirty two, hit just one twenty.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Five and changed him. I said, he hit seventy seven. Well,
obviously he was a rock star. Now how he looked back.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
I mean, if he could have done that one what
I say, won twenty five over point zero seven seven,
I mean that's incredible, but it just it shows you
and you brought up Dereck Rose. In Dereck Rose's Summer
League debut, I found the story Michael Beasley didn't care
about the players that were there. He scored twenty eight

(39:26):
points in twenty three minutes. Derek Rose struggled, looked jittery
and shockingly unsure of himself at times. In this showcase,
the top two players.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
In the draft. Boy that really ended up playing out,
didn't it. So just calm down.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Everybody calmed down a little bit, and when we come back,
accentuates the positive from the debut. Victor winmbin Yama last
night Summer League game for the Spurs.

Speaker 8 (39:55):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.
We usually talk all basketball the time, but it's more
about the stories about what made these people love their
sport and all the interesting interactions along the way. We
talked to coaches, we talked to players, We tell you stories.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
You download it, you listen to it. I think you
like it.

Speaker 8 (40:15):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
All Right in for Anthony Gargano so Fellas on Fox
Sports Radio and we'll return next week, so your fearless
leader will be back. In the meantime, Kfig and I well,
k FIG's always here. I've been holding down the ford
Ethan and Mark crushing it back in the tire rack

(40:45):
dot Com studios. Tire rack dot com will help you
get there and unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection in over ten thousand recommended installers.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
Tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Kayfink, I feel like every hour we'll just open up
with what everyone will likely be talking about a majority
of the day today, and that was the debut of
the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft, Victor
Winbin Yama.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
It's led to a.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Myriad of hot takes all over at Twitter dot com,
including he's a bus, He's done. I've seen enough with
my eyes. Two for thirteen with nine points, eight boards,
three assists in five blocks, got dunked on. But again,
I've listened to way too. I think we talked about

(41:35):
this last week. When you get into NBA free agency
and you get into NBA Draft season, I guess maybe
specifically Kfing, when we get into the NBA off season,
suddenly I'm listening to every podcast out there that covers
the NBA. I'm listening to Simmons, I'm listening to Rascillo,
I'll listen to Zach Lowe, I'll listen to Brian Windhorse.

(41:58):
And I don't get any of their I'm inside jokes
because I don't listen to them all year long. I
got no need for you, well maybe outside of Russillo.
I got no need for y'all during the regular season.
But I want your information. I want your takes on
what's going on out there. And Brian Windhorse, there's a
really good episode and I may even play at the
clip just to reset. And I've played it for Arnie

(42:20):
on Sunday Nights, and I've played it here, I think
even and Brian Windhorse ESPN, who has covered when Binyana
a Lot went over to France to watch him play,
and he said, listen, this guy is still a project
and he's got all the potential in the world. But
if you think that he's going to come into this
league and have thirty and twenty and dominate, then you're

(42:44):
sadly mistaken. I think Windhorse went even as far as
saying I am pleading with the people at ESPN. I'm
begging him. It's like, y'all got to chill out, right,
And but part of the problem. I mean, I'll throw
us in the mix, and some of our shows and
obviously the FS one I think people watch and the
ESPN shows for some reason, people watch that are debating

(43:04):
these things.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
I mean, kfak. It's literally was non stop leading up
to the drafts, right.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
Oh yeah, he's a transcendent, once in a generational type
of player. But what they don't say is once in
a generational type of prospect. They just say he's already
there and you got to stop. I mean again, I
keep going back to Wendy, but he said he's gonna
get embarrassed. There's gonna be moments when this dude is
going to get dunked on. And last night, I mean,

(43:30):
I don't even want to call it out a dunk
to dude like threw it in up.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Over the top of him.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
So I'm a very patient guy with Wimbin Yama because
I have paid attention to more than just the hot
take warriors. If you've been out there and all you've
listened to, and I don't blame you for it because boy,
some of those.

Speaker 1 (43:51):
NBA podcasts are just painful.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
You get about halfway through and you're like, what are
we even doing here, guys?

Speaker 1 (43:55):
But in the end.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
Telling you to calm him down a little bit. But
you've heard so much of he is a guy that's
woe's is guilty of this. I just think that he's
never gonna be able to meet in year one the
expectations that some people have for him.

Speaker 1 (44:13):
It's just going to be impossible, kfig.

Speaker 2 (44:15):
Because the Spurs aren't winning the title this year and
he's not gonna win the MVP.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
Yeah, not in year one to your year one. You know,
it seems like he has a good head between his
you know, brain between his years, you know what I mean.
So I feel like he realizes what the expectations are
and it's up to him. It's incumbent upon him his
inner circle pop all those guys to try to insulate
him from the noise as much as possible and allow
him to be able to just work and improve. You know,

(44:40):
we talked about the comparison to Lebron and then what
they've been saying he's the best prospects since Lebron James
and all that Lebron didn't necessarily have to deal not necessarily,
He literally didn't have to deal with the social media
issues until seven, eight years into his NBA career.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
By that time, you know, so wobin yaw.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
It's kind of been a Twitter online sensation with like
a cult following for the better part of year or
two before he's even was even drafted. So it's just
an extra level of pressure that's heaped upon his shoulders.
I believe he has the right temperament for it, but
to your point, you know, it just puts places in
an immense amount of unnecessary pressure on a kid who,

(45:15):
as evidenced by what we saw in his first game
on Friday night, still has a long ways to go.

Speaker 2 (45:19):
Yeah, he's he's got a long ways to go, but
as you said, from everything we've been able to take,
seems like he's got a pretty sharp head on his shoulders.

Speaker 1 (45:28):
Here's what he said after the game last night.

Speaker 4 (45:30):
Overall, I'm glad we won this game. There's no better
way to start to start for a premiere. And yeah,
you know, I'm honestly I didn't really know what I
was doing on the court tonight, but it's, uh, it's
you know, I'm trying to learn for the mixed games,
and the importance is to be ready for the season.

Speaker 2 (45:49):
I was laughing because the knee jerk can go the
other way too. The reaction like the first five minutes
on the court for Scoot Henderson. I mean, you have
thought first first, era Michael Jordan walked out on the court,
you would have thought that we got Lebron James stepping out.

(46:10):
And I think Scoot Henderson is going to be a
heck of a basketball player.

Speaker 1 (46:13):
I saw.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Tayfer is one of my favorite guys to read on
the planet. But Vic Tafer even said Michael Jordan should
be embarrassed, and I'm pretty sure he was alluding to
the fact that they didn't take Scoot Henderson at number two.
But then you stop and you realize, oh yeah, Michael
Beasley outshined Derek Rose in their summer league debuts. De'angelo

(46:40):
Russell was the star of the Lakers summer league when
they were in Vegas and they won the time.

Speaker 1 (46:45):
I mean, and yet nothing against any of those players.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
They had nice careers, but for some reason with certain
stars we need Drek and one other quick note on
this before we before we move on, to I want
to get to take on some Watani stuff here in
just a bit, as we come to your life from
the time Iraq dot com Studios you mentioned this is
this is a Twitter era star, right, so he's got
to he's got to deal with all of it.

Speaker 1 (47:08):
He's got to see all of it.

Speaker 2 (47:09):
And while it's to his benefit, I mean, a lot
of people saw his highlights, and a lot of people
saw the big time plays he made overseas. We didn't
see full games. I don't think that there were many people.
Even when a couple of the networks picked up like
full games of women Yama's team over in France. I
watched one and about halfway through it, I thought, huh,

(47:31):
this guy might be really good, but who is he
playing against. I didn't know any of these dudes. One
of them ended up on his team, being a top
ten pick by the Wizards. But my point is most people,
I would say a majority of people didn't sit and
watch all those games.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
But what did they see? Kfig? They saw the highlights
on Twitter?

Speaker 9 (47:49):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
They saw the snippets of him throwing a shot into
the third row or a seven footer crossing over.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
It's smooth it's there, but.

Speaker 2 (47:57):
It also set somewhat of an unrealistic expectation.

Speaker 1 (48:01):
Early in his career. Yeah, and that's the unfortunate part.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
And look, I know that these networks and talking heads,
which I guess you can throw lump us into that
to a certain degree. I mean absolutely, you know, it's
kind it's kind of part of a part of the business.
You know, you overhype guys, and what we tend to
do is just as a society in general, it's hope
guys up, so we can tear him down. And it's terrible,
but that's just kind of the nature of how it goes.
Because all everybody wants to say is well, see, I

(48:25):
was the one that said he wasn't right, he wasn't
going to put on enough muscle, he wasn't going to
be good. Woje and all these other pronoxicators thought that
they had it. No, I had it right. I told
you he wasn't going to be good. For somebody out
there waiting for that to happen. And that's the unfortunate part.
And if for some reason he doesn't flourish into the
player that people expect, you know, it's going to be unfortunate.
For him, because he's the one that's gonna have to
end up wearing it for his entire career. You know,

(48:47):
you think of the who's the kid that was drafted
on UNLV by the Cavaliers first overall. Oh, Anthony Bennett. Yeah,
and he flamed out in two years? Yeah, like not
even he might be playing overseas somewhere. I'm not one
hundred percent sure, but I mean, he was a guy
most people didn't argue when he was taken first overall.
But now he's a punchline, you know. And that's the
sad part about it. Guys get hyped up so much

(49:08):
if for whatever reason, even if his circumstances beyond their control.

Speaker 1 (49:11):
Look at Greg Oden.

Speaker 3 (49:12):
Greg Olden was for all intents and purposes, was going
to be a great player, probably defensive Player of the
Year a couple of times over.

Speaker 1 (49:20):
But the injury, the injury just got him.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
And it certainly didn't help that Kevin Durant turned into
Kevin Durant. But I mean, no fault of his own,
but now he's labeled as one of the great busts
of all time.

Speaker 1 (49:29):
It's unfortunate.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
We were going. Oh and by the way, Odin. If
you go back to how he was in college. Oh
my god, dude, it was unwit. We did this the
other day. I forgot about that. I mean, he had
Mike Connley on his team as a really good team.

Speaker 1 (49:42):
He was played with a broken hand, like the last
twenty games of that season or something. By the way,
it's unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
I want to talk about the top overall picks in
the They're the guy draft, right, In other words, there
was the Yaoming Draft of vo to the Lebron drafts
of vote three. In other words, drafts where guys show
up GMS, whoever's there, and they have the jersey already

(50:07):
with the name on the back of it. Right, Oh,
this is we know who's going number one in this draft.
It's Anthony Davis or it's Ben Simmons.

Speaker 1 (50:14):
Right.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
But I just want to look at a quick little
history of those coming up later on in the program,
but with Kevin figures. I'm Chris Blank and as we
come to you from the ti rack dot Com studios,
there's another story involving I guess a generational star that
we need to get into here from Major League Baseball,
And I don't know if there's anyone better to do

(50:36):
it with than Kevin Figures.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
Kfig the buzz is building. I don't buy it.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
John Paul Morosi, whom you hear quite a bit here
on Fox Sports Radio, did his best to try to
diffuse the conversation, but maybe in a roundabout way, might
have elevated it too. Are you thinking the Angels should
be moving on from Otani if they're not sure that
he's going to resign and getting everything they can for him.

Speaker 1 (51:07):
Yes, and not.

Speaker 2 (51:08):
This is something I've been saying for Why did not
expect that from you?

Speaker 1 (51:13):
Show your work, Cavin Figures, show your work.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
My work has been and by the way, as an
Angel fan, I've had an up close and personal front
row seat to this. A franchise that has not been
able to get out of its own way for the
better part of a decade now. They have not done
a good job of cultivating their minor league system up
until recently. They have a couple of young guys who
they just called up, but it's taken them forever. You've
had Mike Trout and Sho Yotani, arguably two of the

(51:37):
best players in the history of the sport on the
same team in their primes and you haven't made the playoffs,
so clearly, I think what the issue with the Angels
is they're extremely top heavy. They have a lot of
money committed to a lot of guys at the top
of the roster who are ineffective, can't stay healthy. Regardless,
you need an influx of talent and a depth of talent,
and the best way to get that right now is

(51:58):
to trade away sho Yo Atani, who to your place point,
Chris is most likely not gonna stay in Anaheim anyway.
You know what's gonna get butts and seats. But the
for the Angels is them winning. You know when they
were there with Mike Soosha and they had that run
in the you know, mid the two thousands, two thousand
to twenty twelve, whatever it was.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
And they were winning the AFS.

Speaker 3 (52:15):
The excuse the AFC West, I had the Raiders on
the brain, the AO West, uh, you know every year
seemingly uh, you know, they were selling out. They were
in the top five and Major League Baseball and sellouts.
They the fans will turn out if the organization will win.
So that's the big thing for them. People say, we're
gonna lose a cash col You're not gonna be able
to You'll sell out.

Speaker 1 (52:34):
You'll if you win games, that's all that matters.

Speaker 3 (52:37):
And I think the easiest way, the quickest way to
get them back to victories sell off full time. You
get as many assets as you possibly can, rebuilt the
minor leagues, and get the influx of young talent on
your major league roster, and that's how you win.

Speaker 2 (52:48):
You know, I I see our man, Harry James Taylor
has been checking in on Twitter dot com and he
knows the guy.

Speaker 1 (52:54):
I'm gonna mention, I got a buddy of mine.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
Speaking of players that you you know, you're like got
You can't believe we got rid of him?

Speaker 1 (53:00):
What are we doing? My buddy Teddy Layman?

Speaker 2 (53:04):
One time I went to Teddy played football for the
Oklahoma Sooners. He's on the Sooner Radio network. He's on
our affiliate in Norman and in Oklahoma City, and he's
he's he's truly one of the best sports minds I've
ever been around in my life.

Speaker 1 (53:18):
Dude is great. Kevin.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
We might have to get him on if I ever
filling again, because he's probably up. But I remember, I
remember the Raiders cut be ready for this Coeo More.
I do remember that I thought Coeo More hung the moon.
I thought he was, even though he and Khalil Mack
nearly costas one of our only wins in twenty fifteen.

(53:40):
Whenever they were I think that was was at fifteen
or fourteen when they were celebrating the sack and Alex
Smith that achieves of the line of scrimmage, and they're
gonna they're gonna run a place like what.

Speaker 1 (53:48):
Are they going go?

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Get up there? But I love Coeo Moore. And I
was talking with ted and I was walking with him.
I don't worry. I'm gonna bring this back to Otani.
I know what we're talking about. And I said, Teddy,
I'm so mad about coe Omore getting cut. I thought
he was a good backer. And literally, without skipping a beat,
he looked at me and goes, why, I'm like, I

(54:10):
think he's good. He's like, were you winning with them?

Speaker 9 (54:13):
No?

Speaker 2 (54:14):
Okay, He's like, you think you're gonna win a title
with him? Like I mean maybe, no. Like if you're
not winning, if you're not getting it done with a
guy on the field, don't get too upset when you
move on from him. And I'm not lying Now that
wasn't too terribly long ago, because what we're only going
back like seven seasons. So I spent like forty years

(54:36):
of my sports fan life lamenting every guy I fell
in love with. I'm like, I can't believe they got
read of Marquis tuiasa Sopo. You know, why are we
trying all these guys? And then you stop and you
realize you're not winning with him. So bring this current
day to Otani. Do we think he's a generational talent? Absolutely,

(54:58):
I mean one of but he's also on a team
that no one can attest better than Kevin figures has
chronically and constantly underachieved.

Speaker 1 (55:08):
They've now lost twelve of sixteen games.

Speaker 2 (55:11):
I think it is, Yes, it is, and it's it
doesn't look like even with Otani and Trout and some
of the they've tried, you know, they made free agent moves,
they it just hasn't worked out.

Speaker 1 (55:23):
Rindon was a big git. It just hasn't worked out
so far.

Speaker 2 (55:26):
So why not if you're not sure he's gonna come back,
go get everything you possibly can for him, and you
might be able to refill the coffers with some talent
that makes you more of a team than just an individual,
right that builds up the team as opposed to just

(55:49):
being like a circus. Or you've got this incredible act.
We're gonna watch O'tani hit five hundred foot bombs and
throw no nos. But yet the team is still gonna
lose the series. Yeah, because fans don't want that. At
least fans of the team don't want that.

Speaker 3 (56:03):
If you can ask any Angel fan, at least most
Angel fans, I'm sure they'd give you the exact same answer.
Would you rather keep Otani and be mediocre or get
rid of him and give you a better chance of
making the postseason every year? If you're an actual fan
of the team, it's a pretty easy answer at that point.

Speaker 1 (56:16):
And look for the end.

Speaker 3 (56:17):
By the way, Ardi Moreno is one of the cheapest
owners in all the sports, so he's one of as
a quote unquote big market team. He's one of the
owners that actually voted down the extent the expansion of
the luxury tax. He wanted to keep this to suppress
the luxury tax to where it was. So if he's
going to sign a show he with tiny to a
six hundred million dollar contract, how is he going to
be able to distribute money across the rest of the roster.

(56:39):
With the luxury tax that he doesn't want to pay.
I think that that has to be taking into account too.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
You're paying one guy, and as an owner, you know
you're not going to pay anyone else.

Speaker 1 (56:49):
Maybe of course not sight here too.

Speaker 2 (56:51):
All right, So I mentioned since we're on this topic,
John Paul Morosi, amazing rider, amazing guest here on Fox
Sports Radio. While he threw some cold water on the
plans to trade show. Hey o Tani, he may have,
in a roundabout way, actually built them up. I'll explain

(57:12):
next right here on Fox Sports Radio. See this Van
Halen song kicks, It kicks. It just takes a moment
to get there. As we come to you live from
the tire rack dot Com Studios, Kevin Figures, I'm Chris Plank,
the man the myth legend. Anthony Gargano returns next week.
By the way, Mark cracked me up during the break,
kfig we brought up Skewed Henderson and some of the

(57:35):
play last night of the other rookies, and I was
laughing because Marco's everything I'd heard. I didn't realize there
were other games last night felt like it was only
the French guy that we were watching, and that's the reaction.
Nobody's talking about skewed Henderson getting hurt. Nobody's talking about
the consistent struggles. It seems like, at least early on

(57:58):
in the career of the number two pick in the
NBA drop though, though I did have to laugh whenever
someone said Michael Jordan should be embarrassed because Brandon Miller
over scooed Henderson. Maybe in time that's gonna be the case.
But bringing it back full circle, obviously Mark knows this
ethanosis kfig you and I know this. It's gonna be

(58:19):
all about wimben Yama because it's the first chance I
think for a lot of people to even see him period.
I don't think there's many people that stayed up and
watched the games live from France. I don't think unless
you had a chance to be in the lottery. Maybe
there were some Rocket fans, maybe there were some Trailblazer fans,
maybe there were some thunder fans that felt like that
they should watch because he he could be on their team.

(58:41):
But I think that was the first chance for a
lot of people to see him period. Last night which
I also think has led to some of that backlash
that takes place. Oh yeah, and I wasn't aware Kevin
figures that Britney Spears still had that kind of fan
base that was posting last night the highlight of him
getting dunked over as if it was the greatest moment

(59:02):
in Britney Spears' career, which is.

Speaker 1 (59:04):
Pretty sad, to be honest with you.

Speaker 3 (59:07):
Look, I know that she has our legion of fans,
and certainly she'd been through a lot over the last
year or so and cleared up some personal conflict in
her life, which is great. But how anybody could come
to her defense after that whole thing played out is
beyond me. The fact that she said she tapped them,
and that she got slapped in the face, and she
was assaulted at the video as she wallas to say,

(59:28):
the ball don't lie, the video don't.

Speaker 1 (59:29):
Lie, by the way of all the things.

Speaker 2 (59:34):
And I love our editing group back backstage, if you will,
behind the scenes crew. I had to laugh because whenever
I pulled up our sight to look at the sound,
we didn't have any win been Yama sound. We didn't
have any highlights, but all we had Britney Spears audio Kevini,
of course, which cracked me up because I don't think

(59:57):
it's worth it to play it. To be honest, you
can't really hear any thing. And that's no offense to
the guys and the gals behind the scenes. It's just
it's hard to hear it. You need the video with
it for it to make sense. But it has to
be the funniest story that's dominated the forty eight hour
news cycle. Like I mean, she pressed charges and in
the video she slapped herself in the face again, not

(01:00:18):
on purpose, but just in the way the guy kind
of put his hands out it knocked her hand back
into her own face.

Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Yeah, he almost like swatted a fly.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
He just wadded her hand off of a wimby's shoulder
and she hit herself in the face.

Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
That's all it was.

Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
And now Britney Spears fans are like, oh, we've cursed you.
When Ben yamasi as we come to your life from
the Tirack dot com studios. Quickly before Kfigg's update, we
had brought up the possibility of now the Angels, after
losing to the Doyers last night, have lost twelve of
sixteen could show hey, Otani be on the move now.

(01:00:52):
John Palmerros, in his most recent piece for MLB dot
Com writes few in the baseball industry see the Angels
scimptitius fall as an indication they will deal Otani.

Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
Prior to the August first trade deadline.

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
He continued, in a vacuum, superstar players on expiring contracts
are traded for the highest return, But the Angels don't
operate in a vacuum. They play on planet Earth, where
Otani is one of the most unique athletes ever, which
again to that k Fig is someone who watches a
lot of Angels games, just doesn't read a box score

(01:01:30):
and has a hot take.

Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
You know, that's right.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
He's one of the most entertaining and unique players that
we've seen.

Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Absolutely regardless of sport.

Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
He is the most spectacular baseball player that I have seen,
considering what he does on both sides, of both sides,
not ching and hitting.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Yes, but Dennen trying to maybe calm down those rumors.
John Paul Morosi does couch it with this. The possibility
of acquiring a collection of young talent is tantalizing. The
Angels currently have two prospects, two in the top one hundred,

(01:02:13):
and then he added the club's baseball operation staff will
communicate with other teams to workshop trade scenarios if the
Angels slide continues. That is the job of a front office,
but presenting an acceptable deal to ownership and receiving approval
for it is another matter entirely.

Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
So in other words, yeah, they're probably not going to
move them, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
And it doesn't mean they're not going to talk to
teams to see what kind of package out there might
be available.

Speaker 1 (01:02:48):
I mean, that's what I read into.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
It still means he's likely going to finish the season,
or we think he's going to finish the season with
the Angels. But you also step back, you're like, you know,
they might be calling to see what that could look
like as far as the deal they might get.

Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
Yeah, they wouldn't be doing right by themselves if they
didn't at least gauge what the market looks like, you
know at this point, especially if you're not gonna end
up making the postseason. That's the part that doesn't make
a lot of sense to me.

Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Chris.

Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
If you get to July twentieth and you're eight games
out of first place, and seven games out of the wildcard. Yeah,
you're still relatively alive. But with the injuries you've been
dealing with, do you have a realistic expectation that you're
going to be a playoff team at that point? If not,
why wouldn't you sell them off and get more assets
knowing that he's going to walk away in the offseason anyway?

Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
It just doesn't make sense.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
All Right, We're thirty minutes away for some college football
talk here on the Fellas on Fox Sports Saturday. But
when we come back to the tire rack dot com studios,
the countdown is on to the start of the NFL season.
Do we still have drama in Buffalo? I asked one
of the Bills, what's going on? We'll dive into it next,

(01:03:54):
but first, Kevin Figures got everything from last night in
the world of sports.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
What's going on? K fig going on in New York?

Speaker 10 (01:04:01):
There?

Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Chris? How about the Mets?

Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
For four runs in the top of the tenth inning
they beat the Padres seven to five on Friday Night,
six straight wins for New York Dodgers, hitting five home runs,
two of them coming from Mookie Bets, and in eleven
to four victory over the Angels. Zach Gallin struck out
five and seven innings of work for Arizona.

Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
They beat Pittsburgh seven to three.

Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Giants have lost five of their last six, as the
Rockies beat them in San Francisco five to two. It
was a Mariners ten in the Astros one Brewers just
a game behind the Reds in the NL Central after
a seven to three victory over Cincinnati. You had a
Cub shutout over the Yankees, three nothing, Blue Jays, Orioles
and Red Sox with wins as well. Of course, talking
about the NBA Summer League Spurs four of victor Winbanyama

(01:04:43):
nine points, two of thirteen shooting in a victory over
the Hornets. Charlotte rookie Brandon Miller scored fifteen points and
grabbed eleven rebounds, but he was just five of fifteen
shooting as well. Elsewhere, Scoot Henderson fifteen points for Portland.
A Man Thompson scored sixteen with four block shots for Houston.
The Rockets did win that game one hundred to ninety
nine on a Jabari Smith buzzer beating three pointer back

(01:05:04):
to Chris plaint Not just.

Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Kevin Figures a buzzer beating three pointer. But my man
put it in from what just to step inside of
half court? Absolutely leaning forward wasn't fully balanced. Pretty impressive, are.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
You about it?

Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
I hate to talk about things that are on TV
during the radio show with Kfik in the new configuration.

Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
Do you have ESPN up by chance? Right now? Sports Center?
It is two feet in front of me. Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
Did Can somebody get Austin Rivers a better T shirt
or at least a better shirt, saw.

Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
A blazer over it'd be somewhat, you know. I mean,
I gotta tell you something.

Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
I've been so impressed with Austin Rivers in some of
the ways he's been used in the media.

Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
He's really good, Like he's he's got a chance to be.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
A talking head on ESPN for years to come. I
think he's got a chance to be a game analyst.
But holy shirt, Holy, oh gosh, holy shirt fits right.
He's got a T shirt on that absolutely looks like
he pulled it out of his dirty clothes, and he's
throwing a white T shirt to do a lot. I mean,

(01:06:10):
come on, ESPN, get him a blazer, get him something.

Speaker 9 (01:06:13):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
My guy's up in the rafters and he's wearing a
white T shirt and doing a live update.

Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
What are we even doing here right now?

Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
We're get like one of those T shirts that has
like the screen grab of like the Tucks. You know, yeah,
T shirt Tucks wear one of those.

Speaker 1 (01:06:28):
He's doing a great job, Bosston.

Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
So if you're up or if you're just getting done,
you're crushing it. Just someone help you with the wardrobe, bro.
All right, we are brought to as always here on
the Fellows on Fox Sports Radio by the good people
at Discover. At the end of your first year, Discover
credit cards automatically double all the cash back you've earned.
That's right, everything you've earned double. Seriously, see terms and

(01:06:51):
check it out for yourself at discover dot com. Slash Match.
All right, there has been so much talk about what's
going on with Stefande, Biggs, Josh Allen, Sean McDermott and
all that, and honestly, kink if we get back to
the root of it, just to give you a little perspective,
this is all kind of Sean McDermott's fault, right because

(01:07:12):
he comes out during OTAs and we're going back what
about a month now, and he was asked hey, are
you Are you worried about Stefan Diggs not being here?
And Sean McDermott said, yeah, yeah, I'm worried about it. Well,
then he doubles back a couple of days. Actually, I
don't think it was a couple of days later. It

(01:07:32):
was literally the next day, right, he came back. He's like, now, listen, listen,
I'm not everything that happened was understood. This isn't an
issue where there's anything going on here.

Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
This is not a problem.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Meanwhile, we didn't necessarily take that as a good enough
answer because we went back and we saw the way
that Stefan Diggs season ended with him yelling at Josh
Allen on the side lies.

Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
Josh Allen went and made the rounds.

Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
I think this was on part of my take where
he talked about the Stefon Diggs drama and how this
is all our fault.

Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
Kevin figures our fault.

Speaker 10 (01:08:12):
I love him, that's my guy. The media has blondness
so far out of proportion. Right, Like we are in
rookie or mini camp. We're not playing a game for
four months. He doesn't show up one day, He's still there,
you know. Coach asked him to go home. We were
in talks and discussions of trying to trying to resolve
some things and it wasn't anything major and media blew

(01:08:33):
it up and they're still talking about it. She's like,
let it go, let it go. There's no reason to
continue talking about it. He was on the field with
us the next day. It was not a big deal.

Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
So I can kind of like, going back to John
Paul Morosi's article, Kevin either they're not gonna move him,
but they're gonna call around and talk to people.

Speaker 1 (01:08:51):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
I felt like with what Josh Allen said, He's like, oh, okay,
there's nothing going on, but whatever issues we had, we
were working and You're.

Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
Like, what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
So yesterday I had a chance to talk to Dion Dawkins,
and my buddy Willie Cologne asked Dion, what's going on here?
What do you see Dean Dawkins starting left tackle for
the Buffalo Bills. Here's what he said about the Josh
Allen Stefan Diggs.

Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
Saga, if you will, and what.

Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
It's been like watching it as a member of the
old line in the locker room, because again, this is
a guy that's living it every single day, wait for it,
wait for it, and three two one it has going on.

Speaker 11 (01:09:37):
I'm pretty sure that the media does whatever they do
because at practice, the balls are still being thrown and
the balls are still being caught. So who really cares.
The media is going to pick up and twist and
put in the fire whatever and they want because of greatness.
You know, whatever greatness shows or whatever greatness peaks, or

(01:09:57):
whenever good things are happening, there's always that little devil
in the corner that is just gonna try to mix
up with spell or do whatever, and they do to
make things seem toxic. But you know, Diggs and Josh
their brothers, they're my brothers. They're all of our brothers.

Speaker 9 (01:10:13):
Literally.

Speaker 11 (01:10:13):
Whatever they have and going on, it's super super minute.
Which is incredibly funny that the world with some turns things.
But it's crazy because I really can't even comment on it.
I really can't even comment because like we don't know,
Like I don't know, but they're catching balls, they're laughing,
they're doing what they do, so who cares?

Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
I like the idea. Dion Dawkins was incredible. I gotta
tell you something. I talked to him ten minutes yesterday.
The guys are rock star.

Speaker 9 (01:10:44):
We don't.

Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
We don't talk to offensive linemen enough. We really don't.
They're the best.

Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
We don't talk to him enough. Guys get him more
airtime more. Jeff Schwartz is but he's right to a
certain extent. But then again, I feel like Sean mcderry
needs to read the room a little bit better. I
feel like all of this goes back to his original take,

(01:11:08):
which was, hey, you know, I'm concerned, and then he
goes and he grinds and he does this thing and
he doesn't care about it. He's getting he's watching practice tape,
he's going through practice plans, and then he steps out
and he's like, oh, we got a meeting storm going
on here? What's going on with Stefan Diggs. I'm sure
that there were pr people with the bills that were like,

(01:11:29):
hey see, we might want to clarify this. I don't
think McDermott's moron. I don't think he's an idiot. I
don't think he meant anything to try to stir up
the pot. I don't think he was sending a shot
at Stefan Diggs by any stretch of the imagination. I
just think he was kind of having an honest moment
where he's like, yeah, you know, I'm concerned about it,
But in that same vein, you're kind.

Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
Of the reason why the media blew this out of proportion.

Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
Then you can't help but have a story like this
with a content that had their season in the way
that it did. I mean, I gotta tell you something.
I got to tell you something. It is a downtime
in sports for just basically content content, And when you

(01:12:19):
have an ota going on and you had a team
that had things in the way it did last year
that got beat the way they did two years ago.

Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
Okay, Thak you know this, bro, we are.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
Looking for anything, any nugget we can get to help
a fuel a four hour show and b make it
make sense why Buffalo was so uncompetitive on their home
field in conditions like they had, how they were unable
to finish a game with sixteen seconds left two years ago.
I mean, these are the types of things that, at

(01:12:49):
least for me, I'm still trying to learn about. So again,
I love Josh Allen's take, I love Dion Dawkin's take,
but they also left you a little nugget where it's Hey,
you know Josh out whatever it was, you know he
wanted to go home for a little bit, Deon Dawkins,
whatever it was. It's super minute, is it, Kate fig
or is it something that we need to be digging

(01:13:11):
a little bit deeper on.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Yeah, there's something that's at least a discussion point, like
if I can defend the media at least a little bit.
This is the same Stefan Diggs that forces his way
out of Minnesota because he wasn't happy, comes to Buffalo,
has a couple of I won't say blow ups, I
think that'd be exaggerating, but certainly had his issues on
the sideline at times. Then all of a sudden during
the offseason, we hear about this whatever this issue is

(01:13:32):
behind the scenes that forces him to leave OTAs. We're
not making this stuff up, like all of this happened,
so we're not trying to drama. Now, Maybe are we
intimately involved in all these situations? Is it just quote
unquote family issues and drama. Possibly, but from the outside,
And then when you get conflicting messages from the principal
figures the most the biggest principal figure being the head

(01:13:52):
coach and the quarterback. What are we supposed to think?
So I feel like it's a little bit unfair to
say like we're blowing this side of proportions when all
these things are laid out in front of us. How
are we supposed to react when we have the evidence
out in front of us this way?

Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Hey, so there's the latest on the bills. But is
there another NFL drama storyline playing out involving a potentially
disgruntled receiver? Will speculate and predict next Fox Sports Radio.
I have a wild prediction for you, Kevin Figures, and
this might surprise you, as evidenced by my negativity towards

(01:14:31):
the Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
As we welcome you.

Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
Back to the tyrack dot com studios, Anthony Gargano is out.
They're calling for more Ethanmiler on Twitter dot com. Ethan,
So I need you to fire in some hot takes. Okay,
let's go. Mark's running the show, but I have been.
You can ask my partner on Sunday nights, Arnie Spanier.
You can ask anyone that I've done and been blessed

(01:14:56):
to do any radio on any format. Inevitably, at some point,
Kevin Figures, it gets back to my disdain, my frustration,
my anger, my hurt with what the Raiders have done
with this roster. But you ready for a shocking prediction.

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
Yes I am.

Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
I think they're going to be a good defensive football team. Really,
I know right now what brings you to say that?

Speaker 3 (01:15:22):
Because I can't those players in the second I mean
I can, but you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
Right Here's why. Two things before I get to the
gut punch. Yes, I got to bring it back to
anger because there is that, you know, Frank, the tank
side of me, how he is with the Mets.

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
I am with the Raiders right now. I think Tyree.

Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
Wilson and Max Crosby, with what seems to be are
we juvenated Chandler Jones, I think they're going to be
really good rushing the passer. I also think the Raiders
have done a nice job in bringing in interior defensive
line talent. And I'm really high on the Vine Diablo

(01:16:00):
backer that I think is going to be their Green
Dot this year. Yes, I like the safety they got
from Georgia. I like that was EP's the kid they
brought in from Philadelphia. Yes, I like some of the
defensive moves they've made and I'm a big Patrick Graham guy.
I know that you know you have one terrible season defensively,

(01:16:22):
and I do mean terrible.

Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
Suddenly that star starts to damn with it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Let's remember it was between Patrick Graham and Kevin O'Connell
to get the Vikings job, and they chose O'Connell. Graham
was a finalist and nearly got that job. Some say
he was offered. So I think the Raiders are going
to be a better dare I even say good defensive
football team. So here's the other side. We're talking about
wide receivers. We're talking about Stefan Diggs and the issue

(01:16:51):
in Buffalo. Could we see a situation where if the
Jimmy Garoppolo foot issues don't really materialize, A O'Connell looks
like the A O'Connell at Purdue and Brian Hoyer is
Brian Hoyer and they don't do anything at quarterback KFI.
Could we be seeing Davante Adams as one of the
dudes that ends up asking out sooner rather than later,

(01:17:14):
not something he's ever done, even though he can go
back to the Green Bay thing. And he wanted to
play with Derek Carr and they facilitated that they.

Speaker 1 (01:17:22):
Gave up the first second round pick.

Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
It was tough, but could you see DeVante Adams being
a guy that inevitably asks out and the Raiders wanting
to build for the future? Granting that wish, I absolutely
could see that happening. Now.

Speaker 3 (01:17:36):
The problem is, I don't know if it happens this season.
He can ask for a trade, but I don't know
if they do it because it will put them in
a bad salary cap situation. But from what I understand,
the way that his contract is structured, after this season ends,
it's not going to cost him too much of a
salary cap if they were to cut or trade him.
So I do think they're going to kind of play
this season out regardless off I it goes, and if

(01:17:57):
you request the trade and if he really gets really
until then maybe they'll let them loose. But from what
I understand, the way that his contract is structured, it
might be a mutual parting of ways after this season
is over.

Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
Gosh, that would just be that would be gut wrenching.

Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
The excitement level I had whenever he signed a year
ago might be up there with birth of my children,
both marriages.

Speaker 1 (01:18:22):
I mean at least for the one night back in
two thousand.

Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
But I just I'm looking at this and thinking they're
not going anywhere correct, and that pains me. And I
know there's a lot of Raider fans to get mad
at me, they want to fight me.

Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
But we gotta be real, man, just be honest. We
gotta be real about this.

Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
There's people that are so happy that Derek Carr is
gone that they're completely ignoring that you don't really have
a quarterback now. Jimmy g just doesn't play enough, he
can't stay healthy and breaking news. The Raiders don't have
the talent that San Francisco had. That's just the reality

(01:19:01):
of it. Not yet, they'll get there. I think Ziegler
is a good GM. McKay fig high on the Raiders defense,
really down and concerned about the future and that DeVante.

Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
Adams could ask out, and also concerned about what's going
to happen with Josh Jacobs, if and when he'll report
to the team this year too, because he was obviously
the biggest part, the most successful aspect of their offense
last year.

Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
Let me tell you something topics I'm already tired of
in the NFL. Running back value Yeah, holy smokes. Yes
they're underpaid, Yes they're undervalued. How many more ways can
we say it? There's not a single position outside of
maybe kicker or punter that has a lower number on
the franchise tag than running back.

Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
But nothing's going to change now, So why are we
going to see her keep complaining about it?

Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
When we come back?

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
We promised College Football Talk Kevin Figures had a homework
assignment during the show. So did you well dive into
teams that were keeping an eye on teams that we
and can disappoint, teams that we think could make a
run in college football?

Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
Y'all, we are only forty nine.

Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
Days away from the start of the college football season.
Since it's my last fellas, we're going all in next
on Fox Sports Radio. We are fifteen minutes away from

the fellas Fox Sports Radio son our Fox Sports sun Saturday.
Excuse me, I'll be back tomorrow night with Arnie Spani're
from ten p to one a Central Time, eleven to

(01:21:04):
two Eastern to recap a full Saturday and Sunday. And
we got college football talk coming up here in mirror moments.
But as I say loo to the crew, Ethan Mark
and of course Kevin figures, I did not realize. Kevin,
we are moments away from an annual event that I
was not aware of. Were you aware that at seven

(01:21:29):
fifteen am Eastern Time on July the eighth, which last
I checked today is today?

Speaker 1 (01:21:37):
Is July the eighth?

Speaker 5 (01:21:38):
Right?

Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
World?

Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
That is correct? Yes, okay? That ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
Percent of the world's population will experience daylight or twilight simultaneously.
In other words, only one percent of the world's population
would be located where it was night time, which is
wild to me because I look outside it's very dark here,

(01:22:05):
so don't I don't really know how that works. I'm
not as the kids would say smart. But according to
this claim that started on Reddit and then something called
EarthSky dot org crunch, the numbers at eleven fifteen Universal time,
so now we're adding another time zone seven to fifteen

(01:22:28):
am Eastern Time on July eighth.

Speaker 1 (01:22:31):
Each year.

Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
They claim ninety six percent of Earth's population is bathed
in at least a bit of sunlight, and an additional
three is in astronomical twilight, which occurs when the sun
is below the horizon but it's glows still illuminates a
patch of the sky.

Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
Interesting. I feel the same way. Interesting, you know lesson
until I know why. Unless I hear Newtograss Tyson say
something about it, I'm going to.

Speaker 1 (01:23:03):
Say that it's not true. Do you know what?

Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
We need to tag Neil de Grass Tyson on this
and see if it's legit. Apparently this occurs because most
of the Earth's population lives on one side of the planet,
not according to my globe. It might not look like
it on most maps, but that's because the majority of
classroom maps are distorted to the population are to be

(01:23:29):
population population centric. So hey, interesting, I did not know that.
I didn't either. The things you see, what you miss
when you jump to threads. I guess I found this
on Twitter. Look at you I have who figure this out?
Is what I want to know. These are the stats
that will get sometimes right. O Tani is hitting four

(01:23:52):
eighty six on Sundays when it's a day game and
the temperature is eighty or below.

Speaker 1 (01:23:57):
Like, who has the time to figure that out?

Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
Who in the world old has the time to basically
figure out the percentage of sunlight or the amount of
the planet that is currently under sunlight or around sunlight,
or in some way shape or form in sunlight.

Speaker 1 (01:24:10):
No clue tell thee what? So much time on the hands?

Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
It sounds like to me and really smart, I mean
extremely the number crunching. The world needs nerds to people,
we need nerds. So allow us here from the tire
rack dot Com Studios to nerd out a little bit
on college football. Yes, we have more reaction and hot
takes on the debut of Victor wimban Yama last night.

(01:24:33):
Oh by the way, by the way, some of you
guys are reacting, that's the only game he'll ever play
in the history of professional basketball, and he should be
cut from the Spurs and never allowed on a court again,
or you can chill out and watch him play Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
Or here's a wild take.

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
You know, maybe wait and really draw some conclusions until
I don't know, kfig the actual NBA season.

Speaker 1 (01:24:57):
What how would you do that?

Speaker 6 (01:24:59):
What?

Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
Why would you wait to see someone actually play during
the year and then make your assessment based off of
that how well they'll play?

Speaker 1 (01:25:06):
No good of a career the half?

Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
It makes too much sense. Now, I know everyone went, well,
how do you look?

Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
How do you look like? He was a nineteen year.

Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
Old kid who had just tried to walk in the
NBA for the first time, looked like a baby draff
in it. And he even admitted himself. So we'll get
to more of that coming up here in just a bit. Obviously,
big night in baseball. Mets have now won six straight games,
so break up the Mets. Dodgers stay within a half
game of first place. They beat the Angels last night,
while the Diamondbacks also won. So we'll get you caught

(01:25:35):
up on all the scores coming up here on Fox
Sports Radio. But we are a mirror forty nine days
away from the start of the college football season, and
I saw this from our buddy Peter Burns on Twitter
dot com and he had asked this question on his
show over on Series XIM and as he was poring out,

(01:25:57):
he hadded at fifty.

Speaker 1 (01:25:57):
So that was yesterday. Now we're at forty nine closer.

Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
Five questions, Biggest storylined, most overblown storyline, most underrated team,
team with the most pressure, and biggest surprise. So it's
tough because when when I'm challenged with biggest storyline, immediately
like twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
Coming to my head.

Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
But for you, Kevin, figures number one, number one, what'd
you have as your biggest storyline?

Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
Biggest storyline for me is Deon Sanders going to Colorado.

Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
Ooh, inst to That's on my list too.

Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
Yes, so I don't know how it's going to play out,
but I know definitely it's one of the bigger stories
in college football, and I'm intrigued by it, to say
the least.

Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
I think I went with a little low hanging fruit.

Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
Here, okay, which is fine. I went with the Georgia
three p. We haven't seen this kind of dominance well
and again Alabama, Clemson, Ohio day. You know, for a while,
Oklahoma were consistent contenders in the four team playoffs. Now

(01:27:06):
do I think Oklahoma's going to get back. Absolutely. Do
I think Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia are going to
be able to overcome having new quarterbacks. Absolutely, But you
know some might say, oh, what do you mean, it's
always the same team. As well as far as winning
three straight national championships in college football, that's something we
don't see right period. I mean, I know that my

(01:27:29):
beloved Oklahoma Sooners did it in softball, but in college football,
you know, Minnesota is the last team to three peat
and that came in nineteen thirty four, nineteen thirty five,
and nineteen thirty six. So you can sit there and
complain that there's not enough balance in college football, that

(01:27:52):
it's not there's not enough parody, but we're watching a
team try to do something that hasn't been done and
what we're looking at one hundred years now, almost one
hundred years. So to me, that's that's my biggest storyline.
Now I'm going to go first on the most overblown
storyline because I got dionnistline. But again, in that I

(01:28:16):
think Kevin figures it does tie in to one of
the biggest storylines in college football because you're not only
seeing a lot there's a lot of different things that
are coming together here. It's not necessarily a unique approach
to rebuild through the portal, but to the degree that
Deon Sanders has done it, the lack of I don't

(01:28:38):
common courtesy if well with how he's handled some of
his team meetings and now we've all seen it, I
mean that that factors in. I think to part of
this ill by the way, it's a team in Colorado,
a program that has completely fallen off the map, but
yet in that same vein seems to be very much
the target of say a big TWI if they want

(01:29:01):
to expand. So I think it's a big year all
the way around for Dion, But it's also been incessantly
talked about. It's a credit to him for keeping his
name in the media. And honestly, I don't think they're
going to.

Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
Be very good. I just don't. I don't know either
right the way.

Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
So that to me is my most overblown storyline of
the season.

Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
What about you?

Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
So my most overblown and I've seen this trickling out
a little bit over the last few months is Alabama
having to replace both of their coordinators who left.

Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Oh I like it because They've never had to do
this before.

Speaker 3 (01:29:34):
Nick Saban has never lost coordinators before after a year
or two and having to retool. If anything, if I
had a concern for Alabama, which I don't, it'll be
more about players on the rosters, namely like someone like
Jalen Milroe or Buchan or whoever the starting quarterback is
going to be. But the coordinator situation, I'm not the
least bit concerned by it. To be honest with you,
Nick Saban is one of the greatest coaches in the

(01:29:54):
history of sports, college or pro. I'll think that for
the coaching staff will be totally fine Alabama, That's not
going to be the reason if they do struggle why
they struggle.

Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
This is, at least by my count, for the fifth
time since Nick Saban has been at Alabama that he's
had to change his defensive coordinator, and every single time.

Speaker 1 (01:30:23):
Outside of Pete Golding.

Speaker 2 (01:30:24):
Now, let's Bama fans, I know how you feel about
Pete Golding.

Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
I understand and I know you hear it. I get it.
I know where the frustration is.

Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
But for the most part, guys have left as a
defensive coordinator to move on to head coaching gigs. Now
Kevin Steele, who was the first one, moved to another
role within the Alabama football program. I think it was
like defensive head coach is what Nick Saban called it.
But that's kind of a unique one and what Kevin

(01:30:56):
Steele did. But here are the defensive coordinators that he's had,
Kirby Smart who was at Georgia, Jeremy Brewitt who went
on kind of struggled at Tennessee, Tom Loopa who only
lasted a year, and then Pete Golden, who by the way,
had been their defensive coordinator for four seas correct, he
had been there for four year, four years offensive coordinator wise,
you know, they moved on from major Apple White after

(01:31:17):
year one because apple White got a head coaches Gig
Jim mcelwayne moved on to a head coaches Gig Doug Nussmeyer.
All right, he just moved on. Lane Kiffin moved on
to a head coaches gig. Brian Dable resurrected his career
in twenty seventeen and was back in the NFL. Mike
Loxley in twenty eighteen moved on to Maryland. Steve Sarkshan
moved on to Texas, and Bill O'Brien wanted to get

(01:31:38):
back to the league and he moved on to New England.
So it's it's old hat, right, It's something that Alabama
has done consistently.

Speaker 1 (01:31:45):
Correct.

Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
I love that it's often that people still continue to
stress over for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
All Right, we are talking some college football storyline. So
with that in mind, k fig, you start here number
three most underrated.

Speaker 1 (01:31:56):
Team at the end of this year.

Speaker 3 (01:31:58):
And I know when the preseason polls are kindind of
floating around the top ten, top fifteen, but I really
love Penn State and I think Penn State's a team
that can poss should be even higher in the top seven.
You know, Drew Laarer is supposed to be a phenomenal
quarterback prospect. They're returning most of their players on the
offensive line. I think four of their five offensive line
starters are coming back, and they're good defensively. Now, the

(01:32:19):
coaching situation is an issue. I love them as a recruiters,
as a head coach and end game coach. I have
my my issues with Franklin, But as a team, I
just think that Penn States the team that you keep
your eye you should keep your eye on this year.

Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
Do you know what's funny is I'm staying in the
Big ten with mine. Okay, I think Wisconsin all right? Now,
I want to be very clear. First year coaches are
either one way or another. Kirby Smart in his first
year struggle. Nick Saban in his first year lost to

(01:32:52):
Louisiana Monroe. For goodness sakes, right, the first year coaches
can have a challenge. We saw it the mixed bag
this year. You saw Brent Vinables struggle Brian Kelly, even
though they played in the SEC championship game. I would
say LSU fans were pleasantly surprised to be there, but
it wasn't necessarily smooth all year long for LSU.

Speaker 1 (01:33:14):
And then you've.

Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
Seen guys like Sonny Dykes who went to TCU and
had to play for national championship and Lincoln Riley who
had USC knocking on the door of a four team
playoff berth until that dreaded thing called defense jumped up
and bit Lincoln Riley again.

Speaker 9 (01:33:30):
So I.

Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
Just think Luke Fickle is going to be a guy.
He's gonna what's the word I'm looking for here craft
what he believes to make it fit with what he has.
And I think They've done a really good job, a
really good job with the transfer portal. If things don't

(01:33:54):
work out with Tanner Mordecai, They've got two other quarterbacks
that have come in. They've got a dynamic running back
in Braylan Allen, who, my gosh, could end up being
a dude that's a Heights and Trophy candidate. Absolutely, so,
I know that it was ugly last year, and I
feel like with Wisconsin, anytime there's preseason hype, they fall apart.

(01:34:14):
But give me Wisconsin, all right, let's hustle through these
last two real quick number four team with the most
pressure kfig who would you put their team with the
most pressure Texas?

Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
A and m oh I like it without question. That
was when I saw the question. I was like, that
was the immediate response. A and m You can I
have back to back to back abysmal seasons out there
like they've had. And look, and I know Jimbo's got
this amazing contract with this big buy out, but at
a certain point and him has to say, we can't
afford to have this happen. We can't be in the

(01:34:45):
sec is showing out this much money, having these higher
recruiting classes and continue to churn out underwhelming seasons like this,
So I think the most pressure falls on the shoulders
of Jimbo in Texas.

Speaker 11 (01:34:54):
A and M.

Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
I am moving hold on directionally challenged. I'm moving a
little bit north, but I'm with you in the state.
I'm putting Texas in that mix. But can I tell
you something. A and M is my one ay there
am I one A. This is year three under Sark
and he hasn't even done in two years what Tom

(01:35:16):
Herman did. Tom Herman was ten and four, played in
a Big twelve championship game and won the Sugar Bowl
over Georgia, finished in the top ten in his second season,
then the bottom fell out. Well, that bottom falling out
record in those last two years of Herman is still
better than the first two years of Steve Sarkshan.

Speaker 1 (01:35:36):
And now Texas fans, I think you've been smart.

Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
They haven't lost their mind until we start getting into
the preseason hype.

Speaker 1 (01:35:42):
They've been smart.

Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
They've given Sark some time, but they're jumped to the
SEC next year. They always have the most talent, So
I think that this is a team that absolutely is
under pressure to perform, and it's a tough schedule this
year too, Kevin. They're going to Alabama, They're playing a
tough schedule. So Texas is that team to me that's
under the most pressure. And then for you, who would

(01:36:04):
you put as your biggest surprise, some good surprise, And I.

Speaker 3 (01:36:07):
Don't think they're gonna win the Big Ten Conference. But
from in a similar vein that you have with Wisconsin,
I have Nebraska with Matt Ruhle really stepping up and
having a big turnaround this year. Now, a big turnaround
is maybe eight wins, you know what I mean, but
certainly out of the doldrums from where that program has
been over the last four or five.

Speaker 1 (01:36:25):
I love them. Att rule higher and I think he's
gonna end up making a difference for them immediately.

Speaker 2 (01:36:29):
I do too. This is one that I've really struggled
and I know we're up against it. I'm not going
to tease it, and when we come back, I'll tell
you my surprise. No.

Speaker 10 (01:36:36):
No.

Speaker 1 (01:36:37):
But the thing for me on this is I want
to say Kansas. I had Kansas as an honorable mention,
believe it or not.

Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
Because Kansas brings back Jalen Daniels Offensive Player of the
Year in the preseason for the Big twelve. But I
feel like after what they did last year, you know,
no one's it's like, oh, hey, Kansas went to a
bowl game. Damn Near almost won the thing too. But
I feel like a one ahead out West. I feel
like that I want to look a little bit at

(01:37:08):
the Pac twelve. And I'm saying this when I know
that Arnie Spanier is probably still asleep. I think Arizona
could be pretty good this year. Wow, I know what's
wrong with me. They are in amongst the leaders of
talent returning this season. I think Jetfish has been incredibly
patient and how he's built that team, and in fact,

(01:37:29):
I'll throw one more team in there. I think both
Arizona and Arizona State are two teams that could surprise
this year. Not top ten, not top fifteen teams, but
teams that could be in the top twenty, top twenty
five in places that whenever they're on your schedule and
you got to go on the road, you want nothing
to do with it.

Speaker 1 (01:37:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
I don't know why they's currently sitting in preseason rankings.
But don't slow asleep on Oregon State either. Oh my gosh.
With DJ there, some.

Speaker 1 (01:37:53):
Are saying he might not even win the job.

Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
Oh yeah, there's some stiff competition for sure. But they
got some talent returning too, and they always played pretty tough,
but last year they came really close to breaking through.
I think they can have a good year and actually
compete in the back to Pax twelve North.

Speaker 2 (01:38:07):
We'll dive into some more college football next, but there
is our take on biggest Surprise, biggest storyline, most overblown storyline,
most underrated, and the team with the most pressure. We'll
react next right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (01:38:24):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.

(01:39:16):
Justin in Cincinnati reacts you drinking already this morning, plank
or at Arizona pick I'm concerned.

Speaker 1 (01:39:22):
No, no, no, I just.

Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
When the ceiling is wait, hold on when the low
is so low kfig There's only one way to go, right,
I mean you can only go up and year by year.
When you start looking at Arizona football, embarrassing, I mean
it's an embarrassing program right now. Six and eighteen in

(01:39:46):
your last two years, Kevin Sumblin won nine games in
the last three seasons. You haven't even had a winning
record since twenty seventeen. You haven't played in a bowl
game since twenty seventeen, and you've missed a bowl game
in six of your last seven years. I mean, a
bowl game is the minimum you should be doing in

(01:40:07):
college football. Six games. You can't get six wins. You
got to win six games. So it's terrible what they've done.
So to me, it doesn't take much to say, Wow,
they're better because all you gotta do is make a
bowl game. And right now, I think, boy, the Pac
twelve desperately needs one of these teams to have a

(01:40:29):
big year. They desperately need if it's Arizona or Arizona State.
They need to hype on Washington to play out. What
have you made, Kevin on the hype around Washington right now?
Are you buying it?

Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
I am, because I think Michael Pennix is that dude.
He can like him, he can absolutely play.

Speaker 10 (01:40:46):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:40:46):
As far as the rest of the roster and defensively
could be up there, it could be a bit of
a question, but I mean Penix was probably on the
outskirts of like being in the Heisman conversation before he
got injured towards the end of last season. So I
think they're obviously in lionetic compete for the North Division
in the back twelve. I don't know if I'm going
to go as far as to say they have national
championship aspirations.

Speaker 1 (01:41:06):
I don't think I'm willing to go that far.

Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
I would say, to further kind of defend the take
on a Pac twelve team, I would almost say that
I might push Arizona State above Arizona in teams as
far as win totals are concerned, Right, I'm taking the
over on both. And part of this is I'm very

(01:41:28):
bullish on Kenny Dillingham. I think he's I think he's
got a chance to be a really good head coach.
Did incredible things at Oregon as their offensive coordinator, and
they went out and absolutely attacked the transfer portal. I
didn't realize this until I was just looking at their

(01:41:49):
depth chart. They could have as many kfig as six
starters on offense from the transfer portal. They could have
seven starters on defense whom they brought in from the
transfer portal. Wow, this last off season. So it's going
to be tough probably to build chemistry. And I would

(01:42:10):
have been fascinated to pay really close attention, which I
didn't during their spring. But that's a lot of turnover
on one roster. But look, we've.

Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
Seen it happen like got the USC I think integrated
five or six new offensive players and skilled position players
at that last season in link O'Reilly's first year, a
lot of guys through the transfer portal and they were
instantly better. So it certainly can't happen and We're seeing
like a pseudo free agency with the transfer portal now,
where teams that may have had deficiencies at a particular

(01:42:41):
position might not have that now because the coaches are
able to go out and recruiting the transfer portal and
bringing guys to phil holes. So it certainly is not
out of the Roman possibility that Arizona can make a
jump this year.

Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
I don't disagree with that notion. So here's one final
thought on the sun Devils. I'm talking to Arizona State
here real quick. The other thing that I really liked
about Arizona State is team who could surprise. I think
I'm now pushing them ahead of Arizona. They play their
first four games at home, and five of their first
six at home. They've got Southern they start, They're one

(01:43:14):
of the teams that starts on a Thursday night. They're
not a week zero, but they start on August thirty. First,
they start on a Thursday night. They get Southern Utah.
They've they've got my Gunnies, Oklahoma State Cowboys, whom are
speaking of teams that are going.

Speaker 1 (01:43:26):
Through a roster rebuild.

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
Yeah, okay, they've gone through a big roster rebuild and
in coordinator rebuild. You get Fresno State at home, you
get USC in week four at home, and then after
a trip to Berkeley, I don't know what the Golden
Bears are going to be.

Speaker 1 (01:43:41):
Not much.

Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
They get Colorado at home, and by that point, who
knows what Colorado is gonna be because of the schedule
that they're starting out with. So Arizona State is a
team that I'm maybe a little bit too high on. Yeah,
but the schedule shakes out well for him, a lot
of home games, a talented coach.

Speaker 1 (01:44:00):
I think they're a team that could surprise. They're set
up well for a great start.

Speaker 3 (01:44:04):
My issue is the back end of their schedule because
by the time November rolls around and you have back
to back at Utah, who's.

Speaker 1 (01:44:10):
Gonna be good?

Speaker 3 (01:44:11):
At UCLA, who I expect to be very good again
this year, that you finish against Oregon and then the
rivalry game against Arizona, you know, you get I can
very easily see this getting off to a great start
for the Sun Devils and then tanking down towards the
back end.

Speaker 1 (01:44:23):
All right, I can see that happening.

Speaker 2 (01:44:25):
And it's gonna be tough because whenever you look at
a schedule, it's like.

Speaker 1 (01:44:28):
Dude, look at all these home games.

Speaker 2 (01:44:29):
Yeah, you know, inevitably there's a part and a point
where it's made up for. It's like, oh, shoot, there
they are. They're on the road non stop. So again,
college football. We are only forty nine days away from
the opening weekend of college football, which means we are
only seven shows away from this being the start to

(01:44:53):
a college football So.

Speaker 1 (01:44:54):
While you put it that way, let's go. It's a countdown,
all right.

Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
When we come back, let's get back to wimbin Yama
talk we haven't discussed. We've been all college football in
the first thirty minutes of this hour, and some good
tweets to get to as well. The first k Fix
got everything going on in the world of sports with
what's trending?

Speaker 1 (01:45:11):
What's up? Kevin Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:45:12):
You mentioned Victor wimbin Yama making his summer League debut
on Friday night for the Spurs. Fairly underwhelming, I guess
will be a nice way to put it. Nine points
to of thirteen shooting from the field, did have eight
rebounds and five block shots. As we mentioned, you know,
fairly active, a solid passer, but gonna take a little
bit more time. Second overall pick Brandon Miller for the
Hornets fifteen points, eleven rebounds, although he struggled from the

(01:45:34):
field as well, just five of fifteen from the floor.
You have the Rockets being the Trailblazers as well, one
hundred to ninety nine. Scoot Henderson for Portland fifteen points,
five of thirteen from the field. I'm in Thompson sixteen
points on six of thirteen shooting, five assists and four
block shots for the Rockets and left Coos Baseball. You
at the Mets continuing their hot streak. They beat the

(01:45:54):
Padres seven to five and ten innings Francisco Lindor with
a home run and three rbi. New York winning at
sixth game in a row. The Dot has won their
third straight and eleven to four win over the Angels.
Halos have now lost eight of their last nine. Arizona
over Pittsburgh to snap a four game losing streak. Mariner
scored nine runs in the fourth inning and defeated Houston

(01:46:14):
ten to one. It was Baltimore over the Twins three
to one, Texas getting a home run from Corey Seeger
and a seven to two victory over Washington back to
Chris Plains.

Speaker 2 (01:46:25):
When we were talking about the NFL, we went in
depth on the Josh Allen slash.

Speaker 6 (01:46:31):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
I guess you could say situation was to fun Diggs.
But it was interesting because as I sit here thinking about,
all right, what's the next big story in the NFL,
I was scrolling preparing for the show today through Pro
Football Talk. I even gosh, NFL dot Com, do something
with your website. Holy smokes, guys, you got billions of
dollars and I can't do anything without an ad popping

(01:46:54):
up when I scroll a video starts playing.

Speaker 1 (01:46:56):
I mean, just can we make this easy?

Speaker 2 (01:46:58):
Can I go to a website and just have stories
and video that doesn't play if I happen to scroll
over it?

Speaker 1 (01:47:03):
Holy smoke? Asking for way too Muchrizzl's wrong, I think
I am.

Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
But I it was funny because I found myself and
just say, all right, what are we going to talk about?
What are we going to get into? What's the big
stories in the NFL beyond this? You know, kind of
created drama, if you will, thanks to Sean McDermott involving
Digs and involving you know, Josh Allen and the bills
and I realized, you know, the other big story that

(01:47:27):
I had written down to get to might also be
created drama. Right, I mean, we got to get to
the point in the NFL where we we got to
play some games.

Speaker 1 (01:47:35):
Yeah, we gotta get some games.

Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
Because Mike Florio, whom I love and I love Pro
Football Talk, It's it's a website that I constantly read
and I'm constantly digging into.

Speaker 1 (01:47:45):
It's almost as.

Speaker 2 (01:47:46):
If he's got to burrow up his backside when it
comes to Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft. And you know,
it's been three years since Tom Brady left and the
Patriots having won a Super Bowl. But in those three years,
they started a rookie quarterback two of the three years,
went to the playoffs and did the weirdest thing I
think I've ever seen, as it pertains to their offensive

(01:48:09):
coordinator last year. Right, it makes no sense, but I'm
just I can't stop cracking up. And I was like, well,
this could be it for Belichick in New England. This
could be there could be problems there and maybe they're
not happy with the way that it's going. Do you
know how quickly any other team in the NFL that
doesn't have Andy Reid as its head coach, would want
to bring Bill Belichick to be the coach. Yesterday, Am

(01:48:33):
I missing something here? I was like, well, he hasn't
done anything without Brady. Okay, we'll show me a successful
head coach who has won Super Bowls without a superstar quarterback. Now,
some might say Joe Gibbs, that's fair, all right, but
you're going going back a long way. Brian Billock. Alright,

(01:48:53):
he did once with one of the greatest defenses in
the history of the sport. And John Gruden did the
same thing with Tampa Bay Mike Ditka. But that list
is very short, very short list. So I guess I
don't understand this. Well, what has he done without Tom Brady?
I'm like, oh, I don't know. What did Andy Reid
do without Patrick Mahomes. He'd never won a Super Bowl?

(01:49:15):
You know what, Nick Foles won the Super Bowl for
the Eagles. But it's gonna sound crazy to some of
you that have maybe not paid attention to the NFL.
At one point, Carson Wentz was really good and he
was an MVP candidate that year that they won the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (01:49:28):
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
I'm not a Patriots fan I'm not a Patriots defender,
but I mean even there's this cbssports dot Com article
that's like, oh, you know, I know, Bill Belichick is
close to the most wins of all time, but he's
even closer to the most losses of all time.

Speaker 1 (01:49:43):
And I'm like, Oh, does what happens to you? Coach
for fifty years? What's wrong with you people? Geez?

Speaker 2 (01:49:49):
I mean, I have been turned into a defender of
the things that I despise, because there's gotta be some
common sense that pops up. If Bill Belichick and the
Patriots have a divorce, which is inevitable, right, nothing ever
ends well, probably he's got to have a job in
a heartbeat if he wants one. If he wants one.

Speaker 1 (01:50:12):
So I've never understood this.

Speaker 2 (01:50:15):
There could be issues in New England between Robert Kraft
and Bill Belichick. I mean, why would you want to
do that? Why is that something you would want to employ?
You're that mad over the fact that they haven't drafted
a receiver that's panned out.

Speaker 1 (01:50:30):
I mean, I don't get it. I don't get it
at all.

Speaker 2 (01:50:33):
And I'll never understand it because you're now in a
division that things are buffalo hit on a quarterback. Right,
we'll see if Miami can carry over momentum. The Jets
have brought in Aaron Rodgers. It's suddenly a different AFC East.
But it's not like the Patriots have fallen at two
and fifteen. Are three and fourteen. It makes no sense

(01:50:53):
to me. People thought that they fallen off the face
of the earth. Look, has he made some questionable decisions. Absolutely,
the Matt Patricia situation, and judge was, yeah, weird. I
think we'll be putting it mildly and nicely. But outside
of that, you mentioned the quarterback situation has been an issue.

Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
Look, the rookie year from Meg Jones was pretty solid.
Took a step back last year. There's going to be
some progressions and some setbacks here and there. But I
don't think Bill Belichick forgot how to coach. No less
of a great coach. Yeah, I just think it's just
a transition period.

Speaker 1 (01:51:20):
It happens. It happens.

Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
And you also have I fought with a couple of
Patriots fans about this to where I've just stopped. I'm like, Okay,
fire him, just let him go, that's fine, you know what,
Just just let him go. You let him get out
of here.

Speaker 3 (01:51:32):
You want to parallel, how about the Spurs fire Greg
Popovitch and see how long he's on the street, because
they'd been awful the last what six years, whatever it's been.

Speaker 2 (01:51:39):
I mean, this whole idea that you can win without
elite talent is one that always blows my mind.

Speaker 1 (01:51:48):
I mean for someone.

Speaker 2 (01:51:50):
That's like, well, look at TCU last year, what happened
when they went up against elite talent? And by the way,
go look at the NFL draft of TCU players were drafted.
Let's see what Sunny Dyke's can do this year. Take
it to the NFL. Right, Belichick is a great example.
When you don't have that elite quarterback, it's a struggle

(01:52:12):
for everybuddy. Look of Phil Jackson, one of the greatest
coaches of all time. What happened when things started to
fade with Shaq and Kobe and what happened when things
start It just is I think pointless to try to
point a finger and say, what have you done without Brady?
I mean, what what has any coach done without players? Yeah,

(01:52:34):
we got elite Hall of Fame players. It just oh,
you want to make him out to be a superstar
and a hero because he did this with that player,
and then well, yes, yes, that's that's what we do.
That's that's how we that's how we basically define greatness.
You find me coaches that do it with a subpar

(01:52:56):
roster in professional leagues and when tie, it just doesn't happen,
doesn't exist. Look, I'm having to stand here today for
Bill Belichick one. I know it's a disgusting taste in
your mouth.

Speaker 1 (01:53:09):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
I might have to go drink a beer during this
break just to feel better about myself, all right, didn't
plan that. But one quick tweet before we grab a
break at Plank Show at KFIG one at Fox Sports Radio,
our man Harry James Taylor, the hype Man. Harry sent

(01:53:30):
us his list for the storyline, the biggest storyline, Georgia,
most overblown storyline, Texas, most underrated team, Oklahoma, team with
the most pressure Oklahoma biggest surprise as simew In case
you can't tell, Harry James Taylor as you know you
fan who followed up with before you call me a homer. Remember,

(01:53:53):
Oklahoma isn't even the second favorite to participate in Arlington
for the Big Twelve Championship.

Speaker 1 (01:53:58):
That's Kansas State.

Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Preseason media polls are dumb, but they're great content for us.
So with that said, I don't I mean Texas is
an overblown storyline.

Speaker 1 (01:54:08):
I think that happens every single year.

Speaker 3 (01:54:11):
But how do you feel about O you, mister Sooner.
I mean they've been They were very active in the
transfer portal too, especially more defense.

Speaker 1 (01:54:19):
They were they brought in. I like the bothoid kid
that brought him from Wake Forest.

Speaker 2 (01:54:24):
I am cautiously optimistic, Okay, cautiously optimistic. Part of it
is I think their schedule is favorable. Part of it
is I think Dylan Gabriel is going to be better. Yep,
I think I hope this is a situation where they
don't have to play the freshman Jackson Arnold and he
can learn. I hope he has a Bryce Young year.

(01:54:46):
You know, Bryce Young didn't start as freshman year. C J.

Speaker 1 (01:54:48):
Stroud didn't start.

Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
You know, these guys had a year to kind of
acclimate themselves to college life, in the college scheme and
whatever their offensive coordinator is going to run. But I think,
more than anything else, to be better defensively. Yeah, well,
it's hard to be worse, so you can't get much
more frustrated, I think than their head coach, Print Vinnibles

(01:55:09):
was with their defense. But I've been told by everyone
who's much smarter than me, it's a challenging defense to learn,
and a year later they feel like they've learned a
little bit more. But to his point, with team of
the most pressure, oh absolutely, I mean Texas and Oklahoma,
or as I like to put it, Oklahom and Texas.

Speaker 1 (01:55:26):
They got to win.

Speaker 2 (01:55:27):
You know, they've got to put their donors, they got
to put their recruits, they've got to reassure everyone that
they're going into the SEC winners.

Speaker 1 (01:55:36):
Good point. And if they don't, if.

Speaker 2 (01:55:38):
They don't listen, I'm focused on twenty three because recruiting classes,
they'll be held together. If you win, donor money to
nil to facilities jumps up when you win. Both of
those teams have to win heading into a new conference,
as does USC and UCLA. When we come back, some
final thoughts for whoa hour three, including more than just

(01:56:00):
wimbin Yama from the NBA.

Speaker 1 (01:56:02):
Next on Fox Sports Radio, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
It's the Fellas on Fox Sports Radio, coming to you

alarm clock was set for six forty five a Central time,
then here's a couple of things you missed if you
went to bed last night early. Victor winmbin Yama made
his debut. What's the How have you described it, kfig

(01:56:46):
because you describe it perfectly in the updates less than
lesson stellar.

Speaker 1 (01:56:51):
Fairly underwhelming is what I said.

Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
That's why I'm writing that down and I'm using that
not fairly underwhelming. Two for thirteen with nine points, eight boards,
three assists in five blocks. So that was big news
last night. It seems like the only thing that happened
in sports. The Dodgers get a win last night. They
knock off the Angels, Mets make it six straight.

Speaker 1 (01:57:15):
So ate a couple of baseball notes.

Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
And then in the National Football League, well, he had
a little buzz about Jacksonville maybe playing in a NASCAR
track they turn an International speedway, may actually have to
host Jacksonville Jaguar games. More on that in just a bit,
but I want to pay off the teas. There's more

(01:57:38):
NBA news than just Wymben Yama's debut. Right, We're still
waiting on Damian Lillard. We're going to hit that out
to the top of the hour, but k fig in
our final couple minutes here would you make of the
report out of I believe it was Houston that m
a Udoka was the man who shot down the potential
of a return for James Harden.

Speaker 1 (01:57:59):
To hughes it.

Speaker 2 (01:58:02):
Heavy sports actually is where they started. And I got
to be honest with you, never heard of heavy sports before,
but quote from everything we've gotten out there out of there,
it was a matter that time that I didn't want
him at the beginning.

Speaker 1 (01:58:17):
Were they thinking about Harden?

Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
Yeah, but then they hired im and MA said, quote,
it's not going to work here. They wound up with
a guy that fits better in Van Vliet. He's going
to be able to give them scoring they need, but
not going to dominate the ball the way Harden would
the way Harden does. And I think what you've noticed,

(01:58:39):
K think that market's just not developing for James Harden
right now, even to the point where the buzz is, hey,
he might have to end up going back to Philadelphia
if he wants to play.

Speaker 3 (01:58:50):
I'm not surprised by the Houston aspect. You look at
what they're they're clearly in a rebuild. They're bringing in
a lot of good young talent, and you signed someone
like Fred van Vliet knowing that he's a respected veteran.
He's gonna come in, He's going to teach the young guys.
He doesn't have at least the reputation that Harden does
as maybe being a bit of a me guy, being
a loof at times. So I do think for Ameni Doka,

(01:59:10):
who's been around obviously for years, he knows the league
and knows how these players operate, just doesn't really jive
with his program. So that doesn't necessarily surprise me all
that much that he may will be the one to
kind of, you know, nip it in the butt when
he came to pursue pursuing James Harden.

Speaker 2 (01:59:25):
Yeah, and I don't think Houston isn't in try to
win mode, right. They they're in a position now where
they've they've been able to rebuild through the draft, or
at least try to. But when you you think about
the Houston Rockets' future draft picks, I mean it, it's
not as if it's a team that has complete and

(01:59:45):
total control over things for a while.

Speaker 1 (01:59:47):
I mean, no, Actually, you know what, I take them.

Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
I thought they didn't have their pick next year, but
they got their first round pick from Brooklyn. Next year,
they got a twenty five pick from Oklahoma City or Brooklyn,
and finally have their own pick back in twenty five.
So I think they're still in win now mode with
the signings they've made. But I don't think they're like
in championship mode. They're still building.

Speaker 1 (02:00:06):
So Harden doesn't help that k Fig and no, they
may not move No, So I mean the fact they
go with Van Vliet.

Speaker 3 (02:00:12):
I questioned the Dylan Brooks contract that they gave him
because it kind of feel like you're fighting too completely.
I feel like those are two opposite players on the
ends of the spectrum in terms of the way they
handle themselves and how they play. But I guess there's
a certain element of toughness if you want to call
it that that Dylan Brooks brings to them, So yeah,
I'd say, look what.

Speaker 1 (02:00:29):
Their moves right here. Yeah, we'll get into next right
here on Fox Ketty.

Speaker 2 (02:00:34):
Even down to Damian Lillard's everyone thinks they know tweet
that he threw out.

Speaker 3 (02:00:39):
Yeah, And I feel like this is stuff like this
is why people get annoyed.

Speaker 1 (02:00:42):
With the NBA.

Speaker 3 (02:00:43):
To be honest with you, and I'm all for a
player movement and player empowerment to a certain degree, but look,
you sign a contract, you say you don't want to
be there at that point in time.

Speaker 1 (02:00:52):
It's kind of out of your hands. Let them handle it.

Speaker 3 (02:00:54):
Portland's gonna try their best to do right by you
and send you to a place where you can compete.
I realize you want to go to Miami, but it
might not work out that way. And by you know,
basically poisoning the rest of the market, it's not helping
your cause because Miami's not going to offer anything of
value to Portland. And what's to stop Portland from saying like, I, look,
I know you don't want to be here, but we're
not going to just give you away for pinions on

(02:01:15):
the dollar, because that's where you want to go.

Speaker 1 (02:01:17):
We'd rather just have you sit here and do nothing.
You can't risk it. You can't risk it, all right.

Speaker 2 (02:01:21):
So a couple of NBA audio pieces from this week
that I wanted to share. If you have, I don't know,
stayed up through the night and you watched the reaction
to winm bin Yama's debut, you know how people are
treating it, which leads me to this.

Speaker 1 (02:01:38):
Draymond Green was right. He was on the.

Speaker 2 (02:01:42):
Paul George podcast this week and was asked about whinm
Binyanna women yam excuse me, and said this, I.

Speaker 6 (02:01:48):
Think people are setting him up for failure, like, oh,
he's going to be an All Star next year, Like, man,
it's hard in his eighties. Yeah, it's hard to become
an All Star in this league. Now if he do,
like God be with him, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:01:59):
I hope he's just I think.

Speaker 6 (02:02:01):
But to say like he's going to be an All
Star next year, as if he don't have to figure
this game out, I don't really buy that.

Speaker 1 (02:02:09):
I think he.

Speaker 6 (02:02:09):
Will be special, but an All Star next year, I
think that's a bit much.

Speaker 2 (02:02:13):
I think we do this though with every top pick
if they're not great, right, out of the gates, then
they suck. We don't allow any top pick an opportunity
to develop you now anymore. I think it's expanded almost
to the top five. And it's the same thing in
the NFL draft. You know, you get him for five years,
but if you're not good by two, they're out. NBA,

(02:02:37):
I mean, I was looking back at old drafts this week.
There were dudes that were drafted in the top ten
three years ago.

Speaker 1 (02:02:43):
That are already on their third team.

Speaker 2 (02:02:45):
So I just I'm I think Draymond's right because of
all the hype, we really are setting him up to
fail even if he is great, because he's not going
to do it immediately.

Speaker 3 (02:02:56):
Yeah, and if you wonder if he can be great
enough level, what would be his comp for him to
say he accomplished everything that the punden said that he
was going to accomplish Lebron.

Speaker 1 (02:03:07):
Magic, MJ.

Speaker 3 (02:03:09):
Kareem's that's a lot of, you know, expectations to put
on the shoulders of a kid who hasn't played a
single game in the NBA yet, And it's just unrealistic
to your point, for someone to say that he'd be
an All star his first year was Lebron James. I
don't think it was even an All Star his first
couple of years. Maybe year two or three. Yeah, but
it's certainly not his first year.

Speaker 2 (02:03:29):
Lebron James didn't play in a playoff game until his
third year, right, so he keep that in mind, all right, quick,
when we come back. There is one other piece of
audio involving some drama that I wanted to catch up
on this week when we come back. But first, the
tire rock dot Com studios Kevin Figures has an update
on everything that's gone on in the world of sports.

Speaker 1 (02:03:47):
What's up? K fig?

Speaker 3 (02:03:48):
All right, well, since we're talking NBA will go to
the start of the Vegas Summer League on Friday night.
Victor wimbin Yama caught in the struggle, to say the least,
just two of thirteen shooting, score just nine points, did
have five block shots and eight rebounds against Charlotte. They
did pick up that victory San Antonio did. Brandon Miller,
of the second overall pick by Charlotte, scored fifteen points
with eleven rebounds. A story just coming in from Adrian

(02:04:11):
Warzanowski of ESPN about twenty minutes ago. Forward Dario Sarich,
a free agent no more, he has agreed to a
one year contract with the Golden State Warriors. Left Goos
Baseball from Friday night. The Mets hot streak continues. They
beat the Padres seven to five and extra innings. Six
games in a row that the New York Mets have won. Meanwhile,
the Padres have seen their three game wins streak snapped.

(02:04:34):
Dodgers won their third straight. They beat the Angels eleven
to four, Arizona over Pittsburgh to snap a four game
losing streak. Manners scored nine runs in the fourth inning.
They beat Houston ten to one, Texas getting a home
run from Corey Seeger in a victory over Washington and
tenn His third round action at Wimbledon is underway. On
the mens side, World number one Carlos Acorez will begin

(02:04:54):
his play in just the next couple of minutes, as well,
Fifth rank Stefano set Sipas Madison Keys is set to
get on the way against Marta Kotstick on the women's side.

Speaker 1 (02:05:02):
Back to Chris Plaink.

Speaker 2 (02:05:04):
All right, thanks, Kevin, here is the other I guess
you could say NBA storyline that cracked me up this week.
Jordan Pool's photo shoot for his first time in Washington
uniform was hilarious because they found every picture where it
looked like he was sad and disappointed. But I found
this interesting from our affiliate ninety five to seven the

(02:05:25):
game out of the Bay Area, and they had Jason Dumison,
who is one of their reporters and a good NBA report,
a good overall reporter and that also good TV. Dude,
he had this to say about the end of the
Jordan Pool era at Golden State, And because I gotta
be honest with you, kfig, I always thought it was

(02:05:47):
him and Draymond thing that that's why he's gone, that's
why he's not there because Draymond punched him.

Speaker 1 (02:05:53):
In the face.

Speaker 12 (02:05:54):
And oh my gosh, A quick little sidebar to this,
this whole idea that Jordan Poole should have just been like, Okay,
it's fine, I accept your apology.

Speaker 2 (02:06:07):
I mean no, no, And I don't remember who it was.
I think it was Zach Lowe. And again, I'm sorry
Zach if it wasn't you, But they're like man, and
Draymond did everything he could and trying to make it.

Speaker 1 (02:06:20):
Up to him.

Speaker 2 (02:06:20):
Listen, there's some things that we're not gonna be good
after it happens. Okay, you'll get apologized to me all
you want, but we're still gonna have beef. Especially if
you sucker punched me like Draymond Green did, that's going
to be a problem. So I'll defend Draymond for just
about anything. I like Draymond Green. Now I've done a
big one eighty on him, but I'll tell you what,

(02:06:42):
I can't defend him in that, and I'm not gonna
be How dare Jordan Poole not accept apologies after what happened.

Speaker 1 (02:06:48):
I'm just no, that's not happening.

Speaker 2 (02:06:50):
So I always thought Kevin that was the reason why
they decided they needed to move on from Jordan Poole,
because everything last year was, oh my gosh, Jordan Poole,
Jordan Poole. Well, according to Jason Dumas in his report,
apparently it wasn't necessarily Draymond Green.

Speaker 9 (02:07:06):
I honestly think the relationship between him and Steve was
more of what got him traded. In the relationship with
him and Draymond Green. I just think he was kind
of fed up with the fact that Jordan was kind
of huffing him puffing that he wasn't in the right
role for him, and I think that had more to

(02:07:26):
builded him being mot than that puts another punch didn't
help in his in Draymond relationship wasn't great, but I
think Steve was more fed up than anything.

Speaker 2 (02:07:35):
So and maybe part of Steve Curr's frustration is Jason
brought up. Maybe part of it was because of the
of the way things were going with the offense, yeah,
or maybe the other part of it is that he
just never really got over what happened and Golden State
was going to be committed to Draymond Green. I mean,

(02:07:57):
they gave him a three year deal, so maybe it's
just a situation that wasn't tenable anymore.

Speaker 3 (02:08:02):
Well, they also gave him that humongous contract extension off
of really just one uber productive season, and let's be honest,
he was kind of a weak link from them down
the stretch and especially in that Lakers series. So, I mean,
you know, you mentioned the offensive issues playing outside of
the offense. Well, if you're playing outside of the offense,
that probably alludes to the fact that you're not really
listening to the coach. And Steve curR and what he

(02:08:23):
wants you to do and look, I think that the
Warriors know the clock is ticking on their championship window.
Some people think it's already closed, which I mean, who
do you think is a more valuable asset to how
they're built? Even though I think Jordan Pool over the
next three years is going to be a better just
individual player overall than Draymond Green for that team and
how they are built and what they get from Draymond

(02:08:44):
versus what they get from Jordan, I think Draymond's a
more valuable piece to them, and I think they kind
of saw him as being a little petulant at times.
It's like, we don't need to deal with this, especially
for the next four or five years making twenty plus
million dollars a season.

Speaker 1 (02:08:56):
We'd rather just punt on this now.

Speaker 2 (02:09:00):
What It's been one of the more juicy stories for
the better part of a couple of years, all right,
better part of a year now after the puncher, not
quite the year anniversary of it. But I still have
one looming question. How'd that video get out?

Speaker 1 (02:09:16):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (02:09:16):
How that video get out? How are you not bent to?
How you know what? If you're Draymond Green, that that
video got out. Now, what's this contract per year? Like
twenty five mil.

Speaker 3 (02:09:30):
Twenty about twenty five million a year for three years
and then there's a team option for the fourth.

Speaker 2 (02:09:35):
I think I could get over it for twenty five
MILLI year. I think you'd be like, oh, you leaked that.
That's fine, But it also makes me me wonder, do
they know, do the right do the Warriors know?

Speaker 1 (02:09:47):
And has that been dealt with?

Speaker 2 (02:09:48):
Because stories I've got a laundry list of stories that
have just disappeared. We're talking about them and they just disappear,
right the uh, the gambling issues at Iowa and Iowa
State in college football and college sports right disappeared. USC's
athletic director search Yep, it's disappeared. What's going on there?

(02:10:11):
But to me, of of the NBA stories that have disappeared,
who leaked that tape? How did that get out?

Speaker 9 (02:10:18):
I mean?

Speaker 2 (02:10:18):
And maybe from my perspective because I haven't gone, Oh,
I don't know super investigative reporter on it. Maybe it's
one of those everyone in the Bay Area knows and
it's kind of an un uh, not talked about thing.
But there's several stories that I still need answers. To
and as far as my depth chart is concerned, that's
pretty much near the top of it.

Speaker 3 (02:10:38):
I don't disagree on that's internal subterfuge right there. I mean,
if you're Steve Kerr, and I mean, and some people
mention this when it first happened, they're like, I'm almost
more upset at the staffer than let that video get
out than.

Speaker 1 (02:10:48):
I was at Draymond.

Speaker 3 (02:10:49):
Now I'm not, but you know, but you know what
I mean is like things like things that things like
this happened behind closed doors and practices. I won't say
all the time that you know, players get cold cocked,
but there's and there's pushing and shoving and things that
happen the things that you don't want getting out in public.
And I just wonder to your point whether or not
they did some sort of internal investigation and determining how

(02:11:10):
that video was made public.

Speaker 9 (02:11:11):
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:11:11):
You know, the funny thing is everyone will always counter, well,
Michael Jordan punched so and so, and I'm sure I've
never seen the video though same, no one's ever seen
the video stuff of legend.

Speaker 1 (02:11:21):
Yeah, so who knows?

Speaker 2 (02:11:23):
All right, when we come back, I'm hesitant to do
this because I'll start getting overly excited for the twenty
twenty four NFL Draft. But with that said, kudos to
Jordan Reid. I'm a big fan of Jordan Reed, who

(02:11:44):
dropped the first mock draft that I've seen that seems
to make sense, though it does, I think my favorite
thing about mock drafts is when people try to project
who's going to be picking where right ready, It's like, yo,
you know, we got Arizona at one and two. Unpopular take.
I'm taking the over for the Texans this year. I
don't think Arizona's gonna be picking one and two, but

(02:12:05):
I do think there's a chance they could be picking
number one. Which direction does Jordan Reed think they're gonna go.
We'll get into it next. Plus, I mean, there is
all kinds of hype and buzz surrounding a big week
in college football. One of the true benchmarks for nearing
the start of the season begins this week. It starts

is like my favorite time slot, Saturday mornings. I would
always listen to the radio on Saturday mornings because I
would get up before everyone, and I'm old.

Speaker 1 (02:13:08):
Enough to be pre sports radio people.

Speaker 2 (02:13:10):
But as I got into my professional career and I
had kids, I would always be.

Speaker 1 (02:13:15):
Listening on Saturday mornings when I get it, when I'm.

Speaker 2 (02:13:17):
Finally in the non football seasons, whenever i'm up early, Kfig,
I'm always listening to you, and and I love, I
just love Saturday morning sports radio. It's a big day, right.
It sets the tone for the day, so I'm right there.

Speaker 1 (02:13:34):
I'm all over it now.

Mets ball sports the left side. It's through with a
left to base hit. Alvarez scores. Here comes Tommy fam
he scores without a throw. It's a two run single
for Francisco Lindor.

Speaker 2 (02:14:13):
Francisco Lindor, the hero last night, as the Mets end
up winning, I mean, let's face it, they're hot. The
Mets are on fire. Six in a row. They win
last night, breaking San Diego's winning streak, thankfully because they
don't need to see the Padres catching fire. Final score

(02:14:33):
from the left coast last night, seven to five in
extra innings.

Speaker 1 (02:14:37):
The Mets get to win.

Speaker 2 (02:14:38):
And that was your progressive play of the day Progressive
dot Com or one eight hundred Progressive. All right, this week,
this week is the start of a benchmark moment in
the countdown of the college football season. Now after today's show,

(02:15:00):
so we only have what six shows until a college
football Saturday. We just keep checking it all we're forty
nine days away. You have signing days, you have spring football,
you have portal windows. But this week starts conference media days.

Speaker 1 (02:15:20):
Oh yeah, here we go, here we go. This week
is Big twelve.

Speaker 2 (02:15:24):
Next week in Nashville is the sec Now to be
honest with someone who's attended a lot of media days,
they're always fun, they are always informative, but yeah, you
gotta decide what information you're really buying because everyone feels
good about where they are, Kevin, and no one is
really overly concerned about anything right now.

Speaker 3 (02:15:44):
Yeah, a coach and a player has never come to
media day and said, you know what, well, we're probably
only gonna win four games this year, but hopefully we
get some young guys in.

Speaker 1 (02:15:51):
There and see what happens. That's rarely ever.

Speaker 2 (02:15:53):
The case, And we know what happens when you say
you're concerned about something. Look what we've done this last
two weeks with Stefan Diggs, Josh Allen's Sean McDermott conversation.
So you gotta be careful because even though it checks
a box in getting closer to the season and you're like, oh,

(02:16:15):
here we go, there's still plenty of time for your
fans to freak out and lose their minds over things.
So you gotta proceed with caution. But you get the
Big twelve this week and the SEC next week. PAC
twelve's right around the corner.

Speaker 1 (02:16:29):
Sure, is do you go to media days that offense?

Speaker 3 (02:16:31):
I have not been to Pack twelve media day. It's
probably been about three years now since the last time
I went. So I used to go regularly.

Speaker 2 (02:16:37):
Yeah, it used to be see I'm local radio whenever
I would go, and literally you're just scanning there, begging
media relations directors or communications directors or sports information directors
or coaches like hey, can I get this guy on
my show? I'm right right here, gonna come on my show.
But now it's a little bit more more streamlined. I

(02:16:58):
love media days, but media days, Kevin usually end up
becoming more about like the party around.

Speaker 1 (02:17:04):
It's like, oh so and so it was faded last night.

Speaker 3 (02:17:08):
Yeah, you know, I will say the media is that
the food spread is usually pretty decent too.

Speaker 1 (02:17:13):
It is it is.

Speaker 2 (02:17:14):
There hasn't been a media day that I came away
from and I didn't add at least two or three pounds.

Speaker 1 (02:17:19):
Absolutely, So that is a checklist.

Speaker 2 (02:17:21):
And today, much like last Saturday, is not the most hopin'
day as far as sports on TV are concerned. Out
tonight you get VOLANASKI versus Rodriguez and the UFC in
the use in the UFC, I try to say UCF
earlier because we were on football. That'll be a fun

(02:17:43):
one tonight. But you got to stay up late. If
you're up now, that's a late one for you. Ten
o'clock eastern. I think they're going to start at Wimbledon
at some point. I feel like they've been in a
NonStop rain delay. You get the John Deere Classic coming
up this afternoon at noon if you're a NASCAR fan,
noon thirty for the Craft Truck Series, which Marco Andretti
is racing in. This weekend Baseball today on FS one

(02:18:06):
redsit Brewers. That starts at four eastern, three Central. It's
a big game, let me tell you something, big game
for first place in the Central. And if you haven't
had a chance yet to watch Ellie Day La Cruz,
do yourself a favor. By the way, how about that
drama this week Davey Martinez? Did you know you could
have that thing on the knob of the bat? Did
you ever say how it helps him or what it's

(02:18:28):
supposed to do? Not that I saw or heard.

Speaker 1 (02:18:30):
No, No, weird.

Speaker 2 (02:18:32):
We got Baseball on Fox tonight as well too, and
I mentioned NASCAR. If you're a NASCAR fan, Primetime seven
o'clock for the Infinity Series as they race in the
Alscow uniform to fifty and then the UFC Prelims start
tonight at seven o'clock. You expect to bounce back from
Wimby tomorrow for the Spurs. I expect a bounce back.

Speaker 3 (02:18:53):
He'll get fifty and thirty and he'll be the greatest
