I've been doing a I've been doing a weekly conversation
with Penn State's head football coach James Franklin, and we're
going to do a legendary moment. We're going to take
a piece of that conversation. If you want to hear
the conversation and its centirity, go to a Happy Valleyunited
(02:34):
dot com and go to the on demand and check
out the whole entire interview.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
But I'm I'm I love.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
This conversation point that we had that you guys are
about to be able to hear and listen to. And
I want to hear your opinion on what this topic
is of finding the DNA of a team.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Let's take it away for this week's legendary moment.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Love on Game Game presents conversations with a legend and
now this is your legendary moment.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
What is the DNA of this team? Coach?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
What is the identity of this team? I feel like
I see an identity. I've seen you over the years
really really work to build a culture of love as
it applies to off the field and in the meeting
rooms and wherever you see the guys at But in
terms of personality of this team, I think I see
(03:35):
what it is, but I'd love to hear your take
on it. Do you think this team has a DNA
and has an identity?
Speaker 5 (03:43):
Yeah, I think we're developing one. I would say it
usually takes a couple games to really say Okay, this
is who we are and this is how we're playing.
But I think I think we're starting to really create one.
On offense, I think, you know, our identity is to
be balanced. We have the ability to run or pass
and protect the football. We need to be a little
(04:04):
bit more explosive, but I think we're doing those other
two things pretty well up to this point.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
You know.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Defensively, I think the same thing. I think we've shown
the ability to stop the run and the pass, but
I think we can be a little bit more suffocating,
especially when it comes to the run game, and just
make sure that we're gap sound. And then special teams
is where we need to be more consistent. I thought
we took a significant step in game two, but we
(04:32):
were inconsistent in game one. So I think we're starting
to form our identity. I think it will have a
better idea after this game and then have really kind
of a three game evaluation process to form that.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Yeah, that was coach James Franklin from Penn State. The
Penn State Nitney Lions today are obviously taking on Illinois
the Fighting ALIONI and Champagne.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
I liked what he had to say.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
We have a weekly conversation as I mentioned, uh and
you can check that out on on Happy Valley United
on demand TJ. When you talk about DNA of a team,
how important is that to be defined from your perspective,
within the parameters of a team, within the fabric of
(05:22):
a team.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Is it overstated when people talk about culture and talk
about the DNA like it's like I know when my
my my freshman year of of high school, which was
the only time I ever won a championship ever in
my in my life.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
But the DNA of that team.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Was hard nosed, focused leaders that loved one another and
took us from nobody and and they took pride in
being smart. So the DNA was just respect one another,
let's go out here and let's do our job and
we'll win. Just never not forgetting on about you know
(06:02):
each other and what we bring to the table. How
important is it hasn't been for you and your career
and how important do you think it is for that
to be established within a team.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
And this is why you need leadership on every team
that you play on. And it can be guys that
lead by example, and it can be guys that lead
with words, but those guys that lead with words better
make sure they're setting the right example because a lot
(06:34):
of the times we will listen, but we're really gonna watch.
We're really going to watch. And so when you're talking
college football, those upper classmen when they come in as freshmen,
where you you know who has leadership qualities, You know
(06:59):
who's really paying attention in following the leaders as they
come into college than when those leaders depart, they step up.
And there's guys that come in as freshmen in their
leaders but they normally lead by example because it's the
(07:20):
upperclassmen that really take more of a i would say
alpha leadership role. But guys gravitate to guys that they
know are just natural leaders. It's hard to explain. You
can get around somebody and you feel it automatically, man,
this dude is a leader, man, and you just gravitate
(07:42):
towards them and you just follow him because to me,
you don't dub yourself a leader. A leader is someone
who others are willing to follow. You can't force someone
to follow you. They just do that on your own
because it's something about you. It's a genuineness about you
that they see in feel. And so if you can
(08:02):
get to that point, because I can criticize you as
a leader, and you know wholeheartedly I want nothing but
the best. It's no malice intended at all true. I
just want the best for you. And when you can
get to that point, that's when you know you've arrived
as a leader. Because I'm saying this to make you
(08:23):
a better player in essence will make us a better team.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
No, it's never personal.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
And when you can get to that point, that's when
you know you've arrived as a leader.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
Let me ask you this. Could you tell you've played
on some really, really good teams and you played on
some teams that have probably they'd say, underperformed. Could you
tell the difference on the teams that were better versus
the teams that maybe could have been better but weren't based.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Upon accountability, okay, accountability where see this is the problem
with sports is coaches want the best players to be
the leaders that may not be the case all the time.
He may not have a leadership quality any but because
(09:11):
he's a really good player, the coach wants him to
be the leader. And a lot of times that is
the case, because when you're a really good player, you've
been a good player your whole life, and so you
just learn and develop those leadership skills. But the coaches
want the best players to be leaders And if that's
(09:32):
not the case, and he's a really good player, but
he kind of does what he wants to do. He
shows up when he wants to show up. He can
make mistakes, there's no consequences behind it. That's a problem
because the younger guys see that and when they become
that guy, if that's in him, that's the guy they
(09:53):
gonna become. Is what they saw one of the better
players doing. So when your team underachieves, to me, it's
a lack of accountability because the coach and you noticed LeVar,
especially at the professional level, even now maybe at the
college level with Nil, a lot of coaches are really
afraid to discipline your better players.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
They don't want no parts of Man.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
What's gonna happen if I say something to so and
so is he gonna get mad at me?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Is he gonna leave?
Speaker 3 (10:22):
And so you have to be able to coach your
best players regardless of the consequence that may come from that.
And so if you're genuine, if you're a genuine person,
the player is gonna deal with it. He may not
like it, but he'll get over and here respected. But accountability,
(10:43):
for me, it was the difference between, Damn, we're supposed
to be so good.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
What happened?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
It's account You got guys that they're doing things they
just shouldn't do. And obviously I was privy to a
ton of that, and the discipline was not there. When
I say the discipline, there was no consequences for not
doing what you're supposed to do. They just kind of
swept it under the rug. Hey man, that's TJ. Hush
Manzada dropping game on y'all.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
That's why we call this show up on game, We're
gonna take a quick break. But on the other side
of that break, we're gonna get to some baseball. You

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yeah? Man, cleaning up what was cleaned up? What was
cleaned out?
Speaker 4 (11:26):
You're gonna find out what that is on the other
side of this break, It's up on game.

Uh.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Breathe, breathe, breathe.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
You remember that, Remember that TJ would would uh at
this at this Uh this is Eminem's original, But but
didn't uh didn't Dre do this with truth? Shorty I
used to sing, man, you'll remember I'll be which one now?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
This is that? This is what's the difference between me
and you? Right? Perfect?
Speaker 4 (12:52):
But there was a remix where where Dre did this
with the young lady that sang the song like whether
it's their name like truth Hurts or something like that,
I believe.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
But she did a song to this beat. She crushed
it too.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
By the way, I'm gonna find it and I'm gonna
I'm gonna send it to you if somebody knows what
song I'm talking about, tweeted at us. All right, welcome
back in to up on game. We're lying from tyrack
dot com Studios. I'm LeVar Arrington. That's TJ Hitchman, Zada Plecchacoe.
Burs is off this weekend. Y'all see my man grinding
(13:29):
on FS one. Y'all make sure y'all support him. Uh,
he'd be on The Carton Show on in mornings, so
he's laying it down.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Have you been on FS one lately? Bro?
Speaker 4 (13:40):
What's what's the latest? What you what you got going
on TV stars? No, I haven't been on in about
probably about three weeks.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yeah, it's been it's been a minute. Way too long.
That's three weeks too long.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Y'all gotta make sure y'all get panteene Man back in
the mix, because he'd be giving y'all that strong commentary.
But you know what, we get it on up on
game on Saturdays and of missing, you know, three weeks missing, Well, bo,
there's something going on with show hey Atani, and I
guess what we'll find out today?
Speaker 1 (14:11):
What's going on? Like set the stage for what we
got going on?
Speaker 7 (14:15):
Yeah, so obviously, uh, trade deadline came and went. The
Angels held on to show hal Tani and shortly afterwards
it pretty much was revealed that he's gonna need his
second Tommy John surgery. So he's missed I believe eleven
straight games up until last night. And after the Angels loss,
reporters went into the locker room and they noticed that
Otani's locker had been cleared out. None of his personal
(14:35):
belongings were there. The Angels are going to address the
situation today, So a lot of a lot of questions
as he heads into free agency and hopefully heads down
the five Freeway to the actual team in Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Oh wow, so you're trying to put him on the Dodge. Yeah,
I got city.
Speaker 7 (14:52):
I will say that I have put that out there
for long a long time here, so I'm trying to
make it happen.
Speaker 8 (14:58):
Me and TJ.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Yeah, about to say tjbn on that too, TJ, what's
your take on it?
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Man?
Speaker 3 (15:04):
It is if Otani wants to win and the Dodgers
have consistently last decade been a contender to win the
World Series, So.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
You immediately went to the Dodgers, you like Tommy Jump surgery,
not to the second one. You immediately went to the Dodgers.
This this is the thing with Otani.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Number one, if your locker is cleaned out, that he's
good as gone, Like why clean the locker out?
Speaker 5 (15:34):
That?
Speaker 3 (15:34):
That kind of baffles me. Yeah, he say he he's
gonna win back to back MVPs because he's a favorite
to win it this year, so back to back MVPs.
Him tearing his UCL is that gonna cost him contractually?
You would assume because he was a dominant pitcher and
obviously a dominant hitter. How much does that cost? Some
(15:57):
people said he was gonna get a contracted upwards a
six hundred million. Okay, maybe that goes goes a four
to fifty five hundred, so maybe cost him one hundred
million dollars, which is a ton of money. But he's
still one of the best players that we've seen because
for years it was.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
You can't do both, You're not able to do.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Paul Skins the number one pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates
coming out of LSU. He was a great hitter in
college at the Air Force Academy, transfers to LSU focuses
on pitching. He's a number one pick. But when he
went to Air Force and coming out of high school
he was a great hitter, came out as a catcher.
That kind of switched him to pitch and the rest
(16:37):
is history. Is the number one pick. But with o'tani
that UCL injury, you want him to be able to pitch. Obviously,
when he does have the surgery, that's going to take
him out.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
A year from pitching.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
So whatever team that he decides to sign with next year,
he will not pitch. How long before he's able to
swing the bat and hit I don't know how long
that timetable is, but what he If you want to win,
you just head on down the free wind, getting that
Dodger blue. He's never been in the playoffs with the Angels.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Man, he's never sniffed the playoffs. He don't even know
what October is like in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
This is what the Dodgers do, year ending year out,
get to the playoffs, and we are World Series contenders
every year. Our pitching must be better this year, like
it's the Dodgers pitching must be better.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
No, I love it, go ahead, I love it. Yeah,
I'm just I like all LA teams. Man. I don't
know why Laker fan.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
I'm not really a fan of the Chargers or the Rams,
but I do root for him because growing up they
didn't have a team and so it's.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Kind of hard to switch that over.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
But I will say this, I do root for him
unless they play the Bengals. Outside of that, man, I
just really feel like O Tani is such a generation.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
We haven't seen this.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
We haven't seen a god that can dominate you on
the mound and then gonna win the game at the plate.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
We weren't around when Babe Ruth was playing, and so
we didn't get to see that, and so I would
imagine O Tani is what Babe Ruth and those guys
were back in the day that did multiple things. And
so but yeah, you clean out my locker. Uh you know,
I'm gone. So go ahead and come on down to
(18:39):
uh Dodger Stadium man getting that uh that Dodger blue.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
I want to I want to go through this kind
of like my my frame of how my my mind works.
So and and and you can chime in on this
and the answer as well. Bo So show head Tani
finds out, they find out he needs to get his
second Tommy John surgery. When when was this this this
(19:04):
information known and available?
Speaker 8 (19:07):
I believe yeah, it was a few weeks ago.
Speaker 7 (19:09):
It was pretty close to like after the deadline, when
the Angels made some moves to go kind of all
in on just making the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Okay, that's very key though.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
You said, look, you know he had a oh tany
started a game and he missed his next scheduled start
and they said it was just fatigue. And now people
are wondering was it Kennedy fatigue or that problem was
already there.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Let me ask you this, do you guys think that
the Angels knew of how his where this was hitting
before the trade deadline?
Speaker 7 (19:42):
I will actually be honest with you, I do think
they knew, and I think that they kind of just
use that to get the most they could possibly get
out of him this year before he leaves the free agency.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Okay, so man bo Okay, So he becomes a free
agent at the end of this season, correct, correct, So
you know he's he's basically battling something that it could
possibly lead to him needing surgery or medical attention. That's
of a larger magnitude capacity than maybe what the general
(20:14):
public would know. Why do you not trade him? Why
do you not trade him? LeVar that right?
Speaker 3 (20:23):
To me, that's bad mismanagement of an organization, and that
is why the Angels they're not competitive. You have Mike Trout,
who was the best player in baseball for so many years.
You bring it rid On who's a really good player,
and the Angels they just can't seem to win, can't
(20:47):
get in the playoffs consistently. When you have a player
of Otani's caliber and you know he's not resigning.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Why would you not trade half?
Speaker 3 (20:59):
You have to trade him for a king's ransom.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
So, so even if you don't get a king's ransom, though,
even if you don't get a king's ransom, you get
something because am I am I looking? Am I reading
this wrong? Do you not get you get nothing?
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Now? He just becomes a free agent? Correct? One hundred percent,
he's going to be a free agent.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
They'll get like I think it's like a rule eleven
or whatever they call it, a baseball draft pick for
losing them. But you could have received players or you
can't say more. Yeah, And the fact that they didn't
trade him.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
I was like, Wow, Okay, so then I'm not because
what I'm trying to understand. Was there any and Bo
you could chime in on this as well. Is there
any strategic advantage to how the Angels handle this if
we're anticipating because we'll probably be off the air by
the time this this comes out of what the Angels
(21:54):
have to say, But is there any strategic advantage? It's
to why they handle things the way that they did.
Speaker 7 (22:03):
I think I think there's one thing. One thing, if
they knew he was hurt, uh, whoever traded for him
was going to have to screen him medically anyway. Sure,
so they're gonna see that pop up and it's going
to change the they might have.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
But they might have I don't care. Still want still
taken them.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Yeah, the issue you're giving up, go ahead, bo, I'm sorry,
I'm sorry.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
The the issue becomes what can you possibly get because
nobody is going to give you their best product, best
prospects for Joho Tani if they know he's not going
to resign. And the only team I think that would
have traded real prospects for o Tani is the Dodgers.
And that's where Ardi Morino the Angels order to shoot
himself on the foot because he just won't do business
with the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
And that's he's making it personal, making it fall. He's
making it personal because it's two LA teams and the
Dodgers have been considerably better since Arty Morino has been
the owner of the Angels. But you have to look
at the big picture of your organization. If you can
get assets, young, really good players, because the Dodgers have
(23:04):
a really good farm system, if you can get some
of those players to make your team better, you have
to do it on what's the Dodgers. I hate dealing
with them, but they gonna make us better. Deal has
to be done. And this is why the Angels have
been consistently watching postseason baseball.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Well, there you go uh yeah, see that was that
was some serious rap right there. I kind of was impressed.
I was impressed with how y'all handled that. Shots out
the bow, shots out the tj U. Hey, bo, let
me ask you this bow real quick.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
I know we got things to do, but you know,
once we get going, we got bo.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
Dude, who do you see O Toddy signing?
Speaker 3 (23:45):
When I say that, because I read an article that said, uh,
he has a really good relationship with the new Balance
on the New Balances based out of Boston, the Red
Sox are interested. Where So do you think it's a
two team race between the Red Sox and Dodgers. No.
Speaker 7 (24:02):
I think I think everybody's going to be interested, as
they should be, and I don't think the injury is
going to scare off teams just because having a player
of Otani's caliber is going to be huge for marketing.
I do believe the West Coast stuff. I think a
lot of Japanese guys just because there's more of that
culture along the West Coast. It's easier, it's easier to
go back home, and it's easier for people in Japan
(24:23):
to watch them out here. I think it's the Dodgers
the Mariners, and the Giants in that order. One of
those three teams they're gonna have Otani next year.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Huh, all right, we get Otani. It's sober. We get Otani.
It's sober because we're gonna get Buehler back next year.
Speaker 7 (24:40):
The Dodgers aren't scared of UCL UCL tears like some
teams might be. They've had plenty of experience with that.
And but just having selling Otani jerseys as the Dodgers,
they're going to make up that contract within the first
year of him saying.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
So, Andrew Friedman is really that dude? Man, Yeah, he's
really good man.
Speaker 7 (25:00):
It kills It kills me when Dodger fans try to
have the stakes out for him. They don't know how
good they have it sometimes.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Well, we're going to tear away from this topic and
we're going to get up into a sports update. What
our guy, Isaac Owen Cron He doesn't tear, he doesn't break,
He just does what he does.
Speaker 9 (25:22):
What you got, sir, let's start tearing it up. In
college football, fellas, we're number three Florida State, after falling
behind seven to nothing, has a seventeen to ten lead
now at Boston College with thirty eight seconds left to
play in the second quarter. Number seven at Penn State.
A thirteen to seven lead at Illinois with two h
(25:42):
eight left to play in the second quarter. So you
guys are familiar with all these fans on college football
message boards, right.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Yet a little bit, a little bit well today all
of them.
Speaker 9 (25:55):
But yes, today, fourteenth ranked LSU is playing at Mississippi State,
and early in the game, an LSU fan posted the
following to an LSU message board regarding its quarterback Jaden Daniels. Quote,
Daniels is still not seeing the field worth a bleep,
not one pass beyond five yards. Pathetic unquote. Well, since then,
(26:22):
Jaden Daniels has completed twenty one of twenty two passes
for two hundred and fifty five yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 8 (26:29):
Shut the mouth, Thank you, ls you shut your mouth.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Indeed I could do what you'd be out there.
Speaker 8 (26:34):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (26:35):
LSU Now a twenty four to six lead at Mississippi
State late in the second quarter, with fifty seconds to
go at halftime. Missouri up seventeen to fourteen over fifteenth
ranked Kansas State.
Speaker 8 (26:50):
In the NBA.
Speaker 9 (26:51):
Cleveland Cavaliers, president of basketball operations, Kobe Altman was arrested
on Friday night on a charge of operating a vehicle
while impaired. And finally, in the NFL, Cleveland Brown's receiver
Amari Cooper aggravated a goin injury in practice.
Speaker 8 (27:07):
Today.
Speaker 9 (27:08):
The Browns are now listing Cooper as questionable for Monday
night's game in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. And that is
what is trending. Actually, one more note just coming in
right now, the Cleveland Browns officially activating defensive tackle Chris
Jones to their fifty three man rosters, so indeed.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
He'll make his season Chiefs chief did what.
Speaker 8 (27:30):
Did I say to Cleveland Brown.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
The Chiefs active, they activated.
Speaker 8 (27:38):
You need to do that.
Speaker 9 (27:39):
Hey, even Sinatra missed a note now and then anyway.
Speaker 10 (27:42):
Said Dudley, But you don't understand that was brilliant in
its own right, Dudley Moore As James Bond, I mean.
Speaker 9 (27:55):
Wouldn't that be classic?
Speaker 1 (27:57):
He would be a dope James Bond. Thank you. I
just really believe that.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
And you are a dope news reporting machine.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Isaac Lawin.
Speaker 8 (28:07):
Oh, you guys are the best.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Thank you? All right? Sweet all right? Uh yeah, this
is up on game you're listening to us. TJ.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Hutchman's Adam LeVar Arrington Plexico is off. This is Fox
Sports Radio. That's right, and we are in the tyreq
dot com studio.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Later on this evening, the Colorado Buffaloes will battle the
Colorado State Rams, and what would seemingly have been a
normal routine game between two interstate rivals turns into a
big ass game. Now, everybody has by now heard about
(28:51):
the comments from from head coach of Colorado State, Jay Norvil,
for saying the things that he has said about p
I'm basically not being taught.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Well by his mother growing up.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Needs to take off his sunglasses when uh he's talking
in public, take his hat off, show respect. It's interesting
why and I want to I want to frame it
up this way, all right. For all the people that
support Dion Sanders and and and have bought into the
hysteria of it all, there is another side of it.
(29:25):
There are a side that aren't fond of of Dion TJ.
There are a lot of people that want to see
Dion fail. It's interesting. I was listening to one of
the promos during during our break, and I heard Gottlieb
talking about you know, you should take your sunglasses off
when you're addressing people, and and different things like that.
(29:45):
There is a perspective that says it is disrespectful to
wear sunglasses while you're you're talking to people and doing
an interview. Maybe you should take your sunglasses all maybe
you should take.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Your hat off. So let me well, I want to
pass it to you. I want to pass it to you.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
What who's made these rules like the way you think
things should go.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
If I don't feel that's the case, then I'm operate
how I want to operate, Like who says who?
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Like who makes all these rules? Like says who?
Speaker 3 (30:18):
To me, a sign of respect is treat me the
way you would want yourself to be treated. So to me,
that that's treat me how you would want me to
treat you. And that's a sign of respect to me.
But all this, oh, when I speak to somebody, if
I got shades on, if I don't take them off,
(30:39):
that's a sign of dude. I don't know where all
this is coming from. I don't really wear shades like that.
I will at times, I don't wear hats. But all
it is to me is it much about nothing? Because
if it goes how it is expected to go. Everybody's
gonna say, oh, jay Nor should have shut his mouth.
(31:01):
He shouldn't have said a thing. Colorado's a favorite, their
favor for a reason. And Dion because he is Dion.
The majority of people are going to side with Dion
in this case or this situation because he's Dion.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
We know him.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Many more people now know who jay Norvo is because
of this situation. But Doug can feel that way, and
others that support Novo can feel, oh what he said
was correct. But for me, I just don't understand it.
Maybe I don't like the fact that everybody wants you
to be a conform in a certain way. Why like yourself.
(31:43):
If that's hard cut, that is not a sign of
If somebody came to talk to me with glasses, I
would not take that as a sign of disrespect. I
would take a sign of respective how you approach me,
how you speak to me, your body language, your tone,
and the words that you say.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
That's respectful. Outside of that, we good. Yeah. I mean,
my whole thing is is if you're not.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
First of all, if I recall correctly, Dion was wearing
sunglasses when he got drafted, into the NFL and was
doing interview and I don't recall anybody saying he was
being disrespectful when he was wearing sunglasses and his jewelry
when he got drafted. Some people aren't going to like
Dion's persona. They're just not going to like it. It
(32:30):
might be too much for him. They might think that
it's Gotti, they might think that it's arrogant, it's self absorbed.
So many other words that you could use to explain it.
But that's what he created. That's why they call him
prime prime time. He has created a persona. And if
you ever have looked at any any you know, interviews
(32:52):
on him, he told you he created it. He had
his He was like a Muhammad Ali. He had his
quotes ready to go. He had all these things ready
to go before he was in front of the camera.
He has executed a plan masterfully as a player, and
now he's executing a plan seemingly very very very well
(33:13):
as a coach. So to me, I think it's it's
very interesting. He has created conversations that where they did
not exist before. People have the opportunity to talk about
their opinions and expose what their beliefs are and their
true ideals as to how they viewed the world and
how you know, other things should be handled just based
off of what one man's actions and what his words
(33:36):
may represent. But never once have you seen Dion Sanders
be disrespectful. You haven't seen Dion Sanders be you know,
belligerent or anything like that. All he has done is
has tried to encourage and build and grow what he's
got going on. I'm not saying that as a fan.
It's just an observation of what it is that I've seen.
You're listening to Up on Game. That's TJ. Huchman's auDA.
(33:57):
I'm LeVar Arrington. We are going to take a quick breaking.
On the other side of this break, we will wrap
up this show with some up on Game or down
on Game. It's Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, we'll take a
quick break. Take a deep breath, we'll be right back.
All right, Welcome back in. It's Up on Game. We're
(34:17):
wrapping up next on on the list, The Jonas Knock Show.
He'll be coming up next, so make sure you stay
locked in and down in. He'll have some some great
topics for you and some you know, updates on scores
and everything that's going on around the world of sports
and football.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Of course. Yeah, you want to check us out.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Make sure you go to wherever it is you get
your podcasts and type in up on game and up
on game presents.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
All right? Uh yeah, let's get it going, man, Let's
let's jump into this. It's time for some up on game,
down on games, Time for some picks.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Are you up on game?
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Let's break this up.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Let's take it up down on game?
Speaker 4 (35:01):
All right, bo what you got It's time for me
to dominate TJ again this season.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Let's see what we.
Speaker 8 (35:06):
Got, all right, guys.
Speaker 7 (35:07):
So I got five games here for you, some some
betting lines, some totals. You guys will take them out.
So LaVar will start with you. Number eleven. Tennessee heads
to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. Tennessee favored
by five and a half with the over under of
fifty six in this game fifty six.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
I'm I'm gonna take the over on the points and
I'm gonna take Tennessee. What would they say, I'm gonna
lay the points on this one. Yeah, I think Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Come in.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Tennessee Volunteer is gonna smack the Florida Gators and it's over.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
So what does that mean.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
I'm taking Tennessee and I'm taking over and taking over.
Speaker 8 (35:45):
Okay, all right, no surprise here.
Speaker 7 (35:48):
Colorado State heads too Boulder to take on Number eighteen.
Colorado shockingly almost Colorado is a twenty three and a
half point favorite. I don't know the last time we
said that, with a over under of sixty two and
a half half in this game.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the points on this one. I
don't think they're gonna beat them back more than twenty three.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
What was the total total?
Speaker 8 (36:08):
Is a sixty two and a half.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
I'm gonna take the under on that.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
I'm taking Colorado to beat them by at least thirty
and I'm gonna take the under because i think the
score will be somewhere of like forty eight to ten.
Speaker 8 (36:24):
Oh wow, All right.
Speaker 7 (36:27):
Headed to the pros now TJ. The Ravens head to
Cincinnati take on the Bengals. Bengals favored by three with
a total of forty six and a half in this one.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
The Bengals coming off a bad defeat against the Cleveland Browns.
The Ravens have a ton of starters out on defense.
I love the Ravens, but not when they play the Bengals.
I'm taking the Cincinnati Bengals and I will take the
overend points.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
I hate to do this, but I tend to agree
on this one. I think the Bengals will bounce back
in this game, and I think that Oburrow will put
some points up. But I also think that the Ravens
will put some points up as well. So I'm gonna
take the over on the total, but I do have
the Bengals winning this. Now, did you say the spread?
Did you say, like what the spread was? Yeah, I'm
(37:15):
gonna lay the points on that too. They're gonna win
by more than three.
Speaker 8 (37:18):
All right.
Speaker 7 (37:19):
Next up, the San Francisco forty nine Ers come to
Los Angeles. Stick on the Rams. The Niners a full
touchdown favorite, a seven point favorite.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (37:27):
The total here is forty five and a half.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
What was the total?
Speaker 8 (37:32):
Forty five and a half?
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Forty five? Go ahead, t J. I'm gonna take the
San Francisco forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
They are playing in Los Angeles, but in that sense
it will be a home game for the forty nine ers,
as their fans will take over the stadium, and I
believe that we'll go under. I'll say somewhere the lines,
it's twenty eight to ten, twenty eight to fourteen type
of game.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
I'm taking the forty nine ers in the over.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
I'm taking the under on the totals, and I'm actually
taking the Rams for the upset on this one.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (38:00):
Wow, all right, last one here, guys. The Dolphins take
on the Patriots in New England. The Dolphins a two
and a half point favorite on the road.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Here.
Speaker 8 (38:09):
Point total is forty six and a half.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
I'm gonna take the over on the points, and I'm
I'm they're gonna beat them by more than two points.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Man, this is really tricky.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
It makes me like, I don't understand how the Dolphins
are only two point favorites over the New England Patriots.
It's just that's a little tricky one in and I
think Vegas is telling you to go with the Patriots.
But I'm gonna just say, you know what, man, they
gonna take Tyreek Hill out the game and Waddle gonna
step up and show out.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
So I'm gonna take the Miami Dolphins and.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
I'm gonna actually go I'm gonna go under man, it's
just hard to see Miami getting slowed down. I know
Bill Belichick's and hell of defensive coach, but so and
Mike Madaoni. I'm gonna take the Dolphins and over and
let's see where that takes us.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Yes, I'm gonna win. I'm gonna win this one.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
You're gonna lose. I'm gonna win this one. I'm gonna
show y' I'm gonna dominate this year. Domination.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
And I'm gonna keep my sunglasses and my hat onto
a interview about how I smoked deep. Hey, make sure
y'all stay dowed in, locked in. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Jonas Knox is coming up next for us here on
the show. My Man, Bo, my Man, and Isaac longcron
(39:23):
for me, TJ. Hope you guys enjoyed the show, enjoy football,
enjoyed the shows.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
We'll talk to you later
