I want to talk about these Lions and the SmackDown
that just ensued from the Baltimore Ravens. I think this
is one of those games, of those marquee games everybody
was getting up for, was excited for this weekend. They
lose thirty eight six to Baltimore. Let me repeat that,
because somebody's just got in the car. They're working hard.
They didn't get a chance to actually see the score.
Thirty eight to six. The Ravens smack up the Lions

in a game that I think many were saying, this
is the Lions time to kind of prove that they
can take on anybody, asn't matter if it's an AFC
quality team, that they're here, they're real, and I think
on the other side of you're the Ravens, it's kind of.

We haven't been spectacular, but we'll continue to accumulate wins
and nobody's really really talking to us. Let's just remind
folks that now after this win, we sit five and two,
and we sit pretty and Lamar Jackson does what he
does twenty one to twenty seven, three hundred and fifty
seven yards, three touchdowns for him, I'll start with my
biggest takeaway for me is that I think the Ravens

and specifically Lamar Jackson, he's out last season. Yes, he
hasn't had the most playoff success. I think we have
been taking him, John Harbaugh and the Ravens for granted
and that they're just a very good team year in
year out. And it gets boring because he's not gonna
throw for four hundred yards and five etcepts today except today,
right dag near four hundred and usually he doesn't. Although

his passer rating has been very good and we kind
of underrate how good of a passing year he is
pastor he is. I think that to me, is just
a reminder that, hey, the Ravens are in this thing.
The Ravens are good. They have consistency from the management
down to the coaching down to now Lamar Jackson's back,
he's healthy, and I just think to me, it was

more of a reminder that, hey, this was a team,
you know, the last few years, we've all kind of
thought maybe an outsider for Super Bowl Championship. And to me,
they just reminded folks. In the words of Roy Jones,
y'all must have forgotten.

I would agree with you. Right, There's a few elements
to this game. So let's first address the Ravens. The Ravens,
this is their first good offensive performance of the season,
where it was the pass game was clicking and the
like they've been running the ball well, I mean, but

like they haven't put it all together in any game,
and today was the first time that they put it together.
And people are going to use this as an indictment
on the Lions, because I actually had them as my
number one team in the NFL coming into this week.
I don't look at this as an indictment on the Lions.
I look at this as an indictment on the NFL

that this is how the NFL works is because of
different factors, whether it's health or whether it's you know,
other things going on within an organization or or a
coaching or anything else. And then you have the Ravens
playing at at at home, like so it's a road game,

like there are factors that go into it. And this
is not college football where if your team gets blown
out thirty eight to six, you should be concerned. Right,
if you're a Lion fan, there's nothing to be concerned about, like, damn,
we played terrible.

Guess that will happen next week.

It's like the if they lined it up again today.

Actually tomorrow they live bit time off?

the game would not be thirty eight to six, Whereas
like in college football, if you line up a team
that would get beat thirty eight to six, they would

Yeah, I mean, yeah, you're absolutely right. This is to
me an off game for the Lions. I don't think
the Lions were this bad. I think it was a
great reminder for them. Maybe they've been feeling good. If listen,
anybody spend a little bit of time in Detroit over
the last ten to fifteen years, Martin, I know you
know this.

They are riding high right. Everybody's feeling good.

They already won the Super Bowl a couple of years ago,
and you're saying, wait, the Lions, remember we had the
Detroit Rams. They so they're coming off of that high
with they're feeling good. And so this was a reminder
to the players, to the city, to everybody involved. You're
a really good team. You've had a lot of success
last season carried into this season. But just a reminder
the NFL is gonna NFL. You're gonna get smacked up
every now and again. And just a reminder us stay

on your game, mind your pew's and q's, and continue
to fight. Don't just wrestle your laurels. That a we're
fired with time five and one with this were that
let's continue to get better because teams are gonna be
coming after you because they're like, oh, this ain't the
same on Lions. We can hang out in the club
all night, have fun and come smack them up.

And so to me, as you said, it's not a
huge indictment on them. To me, it's a reminder that, man,

there have been players on other teams that you were like, yo,
I love watching that guy play.

And you you've had the opportunity to cheer for winners
and or switch your team up. What has led you
to the loyalty up to this point?

Well, I tell you what, Lions fans are more loyal

of loyalty. Because I'm watching her right now, my gosh, like.

Lions having a massive fan base. And I would argue
the biggest, like the biggest sports fans in the entire city.

Michigan football always being good, Michigan State basketball always being good.

they've given you three championships, you know, things to celebrate.
You got the bad boys and you had the Detroit

You can help me out. The Detroit Lions are the
big They have the number one sports choke hold on Detroit,
and they've given us nothing but Barry and Megatron and
you know some good Matthew Stafford years and forty years
or so. And I don't know why everybody comes back
Honolulu blewed up. They come back to take the beat

and put the paper bags over the face Martin, Why

Because everybody thought, I don't know what it was, but
Owen sixteen, everybody thought, it's gotta be the worst it

So often they give you just enough, like the line,

It is a football state. At the end of the day.

You've got two colleges who have very storied football programs
in Michigan State and Michigan. I know, Michigan State just
got their ass whooped, but like they've got past national
titles to their name, like it's a football state, and
they like the one thing Detroit hasn't had since the
fifties is an NFL team that can say the same thing,
and they just desperately want I think that's what draws
people back. But I do's the biggest sport in the

country and they want to be part of it too.

But I don't think we're giving Barry Sanders enough credit
that he kept because I mean, I mean it's sincerely
if you think about it, the eighties wasn't much nothing.
Then comes the nineties and for a decade you had
arguably the greatest running back of ever and of all time.
And not just like, oh he's good statistically, I mean stylistically,

he's my favorite athlete of all time any sport. And
so I do think this matters that they were nine
and seven pretty much the entire decade. You know, obviously
a little bit better, a little bit worse, but just
call it nine and seven the whole nineties. But you
had Barry, and so I think that is enough that
got the fan base, just like all in die Hard.
But what makes it remarkable is that you look at

some other fan bases around They have seasons where you
can see the stadiums aren't a packed, right you looking
down at Miami, And I know Miami is the most
football team when it comes to the Dolphins fan base,
but there are other places where you can just kind
of feel like, man, they're losing the fans for some reason.

And now credit the Ford family. I don't know.

Credit to boredom that winters in Detroit give you, I
don't know. The Lions have kept the fan base and
given them nothing, which is why you've heard me on
these airways over the years ready to check out, because
it's like, how much longer can we invest into a
team that ain't invested in us if you will, and
hasn't given us anything to cheer about.

Ran Barry out of town, ran Megatron out of town.

Yeah, losing Barry early and Megatron. That is the biggest
indictment on the city, on the Detroit Lions team. But
I'm actually super happy. But there's another part to it though, right,
is that how Dan Campbell has built this team. Because

when we all watched that press conference when he was
introduced as the coach, nobody thought this would go, well,
we're gonna bite ankles, We're gonna do it again, and
all like, bro, what's up with you? You sound like
a meathead? But he has clearly, He clearly knows football,
and the most important thing is he understands people. He

understands his players, because when you can get players to
play as hard as the Detroit Lions do, even when
they were two years ago terrible, and even last year
at the beginning of the year, like they were like
to get them to play as hard as they do.
And then he is he has empowered other former players,
Aaron Glenn, my former teammate, other guys on the coaching

staff do Staley. And for long it was weird like
we had fought well, not not we the.

NFL had fallen into this.

Oh, let's go get the next genius guy instead of thinking,
oh my god, the genius guy might actually be one
of the guys who played, instead of passing them up

the best part about it. You talk to anybody who's

Two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, two teams

echoing sentiments about himself, talking about Justin Herbert. He's like, Yo,
his kid's great, he's he's he's mobile, he's big arm.

He's talking about him. Team believes in them. And these
two were going at it right now. Pat Mahomes is
utterly ridiculous right now. His first half in you there's
still forty four left in this first half. His first
half stats look like really a normal game. Fifteen eighteen,
two hundred and forty one, two touchdowns. He's just an
interception if you're watching it. But he looks ridiculous right now.

This is a big game. Obviously, it's a big game
for the Chargers, and then they're two and three. I mean, coach,
he has been on the hot seat so long he
got a permanent suntan down there. I mean, he is
just everybody has been wanting him gone, whether it be locally.
Obviously we live here in La folks have talked about it,

the few that do talk about the Chargers, and then
also nationally, folks have been calling for him, you know
Kellen Moore there now, I mean, it's.

So bad that now there's to direct that attention at
Justin Herbert and it is it's ludicrous to me.

Well, I mean that's listen, we know Gonwelad ain't him.

You can argue he's made some you know, had some
bad decisions, maybe a couple throws you won back, but listen,
every team in the NFL wants him, except maybe two
to three because they have they already have a guy
that's it. He is fantastic. And but again, I do
think this team continues to be underwhelming when you look
at the talent they have, at least on paper. Defensively,
they have not been what we expected. You can see

it again in its first half the way Mahomes and
these Chiefs have just been going up and down the
field on them. But again at seventeen seventeen tie right
now as little over three minutes as we look towards
halftime in this game, but let's just assume what has
historically happened between these two great quarterbacks happens, and that
is a very small victory for the Chiefs.

Are we looking at Monday's headlines and that they have

do that is twofold one is if you have who
you think should be the replacement in the building already.

place them higher than really what they are. But when
they're rolling, I get it. When they're rolling, it's spectacular

the like there are certain teams that are only going
to be judged by what they do in the postseason.
The Bills are one of those teams. Nobody is going

playoff game or lose in the AFC Championship game, it's
going to be underwhelming. The same thing with the Dallas Cowboys,

Tua hitting these passes to waddle to obviously cheetah, so

on and so forth. But it's also the it's the
rushing games. They lead the league by far in both
of those categories. Now you know who's number two in
total offense and also rushing yards. It's the Eagles three
hundred and ninety five. But look at that is one
hundred yard difference in offense between number one team and
the Dolphins and number two team, and then they're set
in rushing, but they're also thirty yards behind at one

hundred and fifty yards a game rushing. So that just
shows you how incredible it has been for those two offense,
but specifically the Dolphins. Jalen Warren just gets a nice
touchdown for the Steelers looking to tie this game up
to seventeen seventeen with the Rams.

But to me, I'm not worried about the Eagles even
at a loss because, as we mentioned earlier, for those

There's not a lot of if you look at a

I think the Eagles have been built for this. They're

about the Browns able to get a win as well today. Again,
the defense has been going crazy for them all season long,
without a doubt, they've been able to get the job
done there looking out, we want to look at some
other scorers too. You talked about the Giants the Commanders.
You saw that They've already had players come out and say,
I'm sick of this. I'm tired of this. It's been

seven years of this, the same old crap. They lose
fourteen to seven in the division to the Giants, the Commanders.
I mean Ron Rivera, you give while you give them
credit for consistency, that his teams always play hard and
they're you know, they're using it, never horrible, They're solid.

being just solid, you know what I mean? Like I
want to be better than that. I want to be

better than just slightly above five hundred. And the Commanders
are seeming to kind of get in that place where
it's like, all right, I've seen this book before. They're solid,
but not good, not great. You wonder how much long
Ron Rivera is going to stick around if they don't
try to get some new young blood and get that

You look at the Dodgers. Obviously they didn't they had
you know, they didn't have a great postseason, but they
have won the World Championship, They've won ten in divisions

lot of expectations. Again, there's a lot of football to

the last five years or so whatever, but they can't

disciplinement is their defense. I'm just I'm surprised that they're
as bad as they've been. They've not been very competitive.

of wild cards are still wide open the AFC, but
they've not convinced competitive as most real thought they would be.
