Of course, we'll get to these games that ended the
first half of the day just reminded me talking about
tire Rack. George. I had to get an oil change
the other day. Do you know how many things they
offered me? My gosh, you can't just get an oil change.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Brouh.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
I need a new windshield wiper, I needed new lights,
I needed this, I needed a transmission fuel or I'm like, bruh,
I just need a quick oil change.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I got my daughter's birthday party to go to Keny.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Just do you just do it?
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Every time you go, they offer you an entire and
they always try to make it like like you're going
to die if you don't do this.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
It is impair.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Hey dude, I see. It's funny because how many times
do you hear and in the media that they will
tell you that this only happens to women.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Right, that's that's yes, that's how they sell it.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
That's actually a myth because I've actually had it happen
to me, and I've had it happen to other people
I know, and then and you just have to shut
them down, like I mean, but then it also part
of it is knowing your car and knowing your situation
because if you know, like hey, yo, I know I
ain't checked this, this this fluid in them in a minute,
(01:44):
you should have probably checked it first, and then you
can be like, nah, bro, I know, I know.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Mine's good. I'm good.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
I mean, truth be told, I'm definitely riding a little
dirty out here in the streets because there's a couple
then how be mad because that's a couple of things.
I said no to that that I'm not gonna lie.
He was like, you should have had this three times
by the since a duration of your car. I said, well,
I ain't even think I had it once. But it's
neither here nor there. My car got me here, brother,
a whole lot to get you. I want to start
field out the game the day. It doesn't until the day,
well then I'll be calling you to get me a right.
(02:11):
I want to start with MASSI Martin is here, as
you got Chris, and I know you know. So it's
a Michigan ties here, including myself with these Detroit Willons. Yeah,
well go Blue, we'll go get to that because I
want to talk about that that.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Let me be more specific, the city of Detroit.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I want to talk about these Lions and the SmackDown
that just ensued from the Baltimore Ravens. I think this
is one of those games, of those marquee games everybody
was getting up for, was excited for this weekend. They
lose thirty eight six to Baltimore. Let me repeat that,
because somebody's just got in the car. They're working hard.
They didn't get a chance to actually see the score.
Thirty eight to six. The Ravens smack up the Lions
(02:51):
in a game that I think many were saying, this
is the Lions time to kind of prove that they
can take on anybody, asn't matter if it's an AFC
quality team, that they're here, they're real, and I think
on the other side of you're the Ravens, it's kind of.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Like we're flying under the radar.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
We haven't been spectacular, but we'll continue to accumulate wins
and nobody's really really talking to us. Let's just remind
folks that now after this win, we sit five and two,
and we sit pretty and Lamar Jackson does what he
does twenty one to twenty seven, three hundred and fifty
seven yards, three touchdowns for him, I'll start with my
biggest takeaway for me is that I think the Ravens
(03:28):
and specifically Lamar Jackson, he's out last season. Yes, he
hasn't had the most playoff success. I think we have
been taking him, John Harbaugh and the Ravens for granted
and that they're just a very good team year in
year out. And it gets boring because he's not gonna
throw for four hundred yards and five etcepts today except today,
right dag near four hundred and usually he doesn't. Although
(03:51):
his passer rating has been very good and we kind
of underrate how good of a passing year he is
pastor he is. I think that to me, is just
a reminder that, hey, the Ravens are in this thing.
The Ravens are good. They have consistency from the management
down to the coaching down to now Lamar Jackson's back,
he's healthy, and I just think to me, it was
(04:12):
more of a reminder that, hey, this was a team,
you know, the last few years, we've all kind of
thought maybe an outsider for Super Bowl Championship. And to me,
they just reminded folks. In the words of Roy Jones,
y'all must have forgotten.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
I would agree with you. Right, There's a few elements
to this game. So let's first address the Ravens. The Ravens,
this is their first good offensive performance of the season,
where it was the pass game was clicking and the
like they've been running the ball well, I mean, but
(04:47):
like they haven't put it all together in any game,
and today was the first time that they put it together.
And people are going to use this as an indictment
on the Lions, because I actually had them as my
number one team in the NFL coming into this week.
I don't look at this as an indictment on the Lions.
I look at this as an indictment on the NFL
(05:08):
that this is how the NFL works is because of
different factors, whether it's health or whether it's you know,
other things going on within an organization or or a
coaching or anything else. And then you have the Ravens
playing at at at home, like so it's a road game,
(05:30):
like there are factors that go into it. And this
is not college football where if your team gets blown
out thirty eight to six, you should be concerned. Right,
if you're a Lion fan, there's nothing to be concerned about, like, damn,
we played terrible.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Guess that will happen next week.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
It's like the if they lined it up again today.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Actually tomorrow they live bit time off?
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Can they go home and put on ice how something?
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Yeah, well, I'm just saying if they lined it up tomorrow,
the game would not be thirty eight to six, Whereas
like in college football, if you line up a team
that would get beat thirty eight to six, they would
get beat thirty eight to six the next day too.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, you're absolutely right. This is to
me an off game for the Lions. I don't think
the Lions were this bad. I think it was a
great reminder for them. Maybe they've been feeling good. If listen,
anybody spend a little bit of time in Detroit over
the last ten to fifteen years, Martin, I know you
know this.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
They are riding high right. Everybody's feeling good.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
They already won the Super Bowl a couple of years ago,
and you're saying, wait, the Lions, remember we had the
Detroit Rams. They so they're coming off of that high
with they're feeling good. And so this was a reminder
to the players, to the city, to everybody involved. You're
a really good team. You've had a lot of success
last season carried into this season. But just a reminder
the NFL is gonna NFL. You're gonna get smacked up
every now and again. And just a reminder us stay
(06:54):
on your game, mind your pew's and q's, and continue
to fight. Don't just wrestle your laurels. That a we're
fired with time five and one with this were that
let's continue to get better because teams are gonna be
coming after you because they're like, oh, this ain't the
same on Lions. We can hang out in the club
all night, have fun and come smack them up.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
You know.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Thirty two to fourteen we got to actually beat these Lions.
And so to me, as you said, it's not a
huge indictment on them. To me, it's a reminder that, man,
if the Ravens are on, if the Ravens get going,
because you mentioned the offense hadn't really been spectacular, they
get going, this team is scary.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Now.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Then there's the other part of this, which is how
crazy is it that the Lions matter enough for us
to beat because the Lions, Like if it's just two
three years ago and they got beat thirty eight to six,
this would not be the first thing we talked about, right,
But but for Detroit fans, for you Jamil Heal, all
(07:50):
the rest of you jokes.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
She had forty nine, she gave up.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Oh yeah, I forgot. I forgot what I got you dude, Yes,
I got her husband?
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Is they the Lions?
Speaker 4 (08:00):
So for all you Detroit people, like this has to
be like weird for you guys, because you guys haven't
had anything to cheer about for it, because we're about
the same age, Kevin and pretty much your entire life
aside from like two years you you have had nothing
to cheer for.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I don't get what you're going I feel like you
have not.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
I'm just saying you you.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Have not been alive to see a playoff win.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
I think I had won in like ninety one.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
I think yeah, I think with one if that, yeah,
I think very I think Barry went crazy one time
in ninety one and that was it.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
So, so a single playoff win your entire life. And
I was wondering, like, how hard it has to be
to be a Lions fan? If if that's the way
that your existence is, because people generally like to cheer
for things that win, so like, so, how so how
hard is it to be a Lions fan when you've
(09:02):
had and you've had opportunities to switch because I guaranteed
there have been players on other teams that you were like, yo,
I love watching that guy play.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
It's so much fun.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
And you you've had the opportunity to cheer for winners
and or switch your team up. What has led you
to the loyalty up to this point?
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Well, I tell you what, Lions fans are more loyal
than Taylor Swift than Travis Kelsey. And that's a lot
of loyalty. Because I'm watching her right now, my gosh, like.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
She was getting ready to cry, Yeah, this is when
he caught it like a fifty yard Yeah, he caught another.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
He just caught another. This is getting out of line, dude.
People know Travis Kelly.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
If APB is out that he's good at football, you
might want to guard him. He just caught it like
a fifty yard er. As we're talking, I'll say this,
Martin spent time there. Chris knows this. This is the
Lions having a massive fan base. And I would argue
the biggest, like the biggest sports fans in the entire city.
The Red Wings have given you a But the Red
(10:00):
Wings at the Stanley Cup Finals was regular growing up, right,
Michigan football always being good, Michigan State basketball always being good.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
The Pistons, they do what they do.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
They come in for a decade, they're good for five year,
then they fall off for ten. They come back, but
they've given you three championships, you know, things to celebrate.
You got the bad boys and you had the Detroit
basketball era for some reason.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
And I try to I don't know the answer.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Martin.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
You can help me out. The Detroit Lions are the
big They have the number one sports choke hold on Detroit,
and they've given us nothing but Barry and Megatron and
you know some good Matthew Stafford years and forty years
or so. And I don't know why everybody comes back
Honolulu blewed up. They come back to take the beat
(10:44):
and put the paper bags over the face Martin, Why
why is it look man?
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Because everybody thought, I don't know what it was, but
Owen sixteen, everybody thought, it's gotta be the worst it
can be, right, And every.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
So often they give you just enough, like the line,
it's like, that's the worst that could be. Actually, no,
it's not right.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
It is a football state. At the end of the day.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
You've got two colleges who have very storied football programs
in Michigan State and Michigan. I know, Michigan State just
got their ass whooped, but like they've got past national
titles to their name, like it's a football state, and
they like the one thing Detroit hasn't had since the
fifties is an NFL team that can say the same thing,
and they just desperately want I think that's what draws
people back. But I do's the biggest sport in the
(11:21):
country and they want to be part of it too.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
But I don't think we're giving Barry Sanders enough credit
that he kept because I mean, I mean it's sincerely
if you think about it, the eighties wasn't much nothing.
Then comes the nineties and for a decade you had
arguably the greatest running back of ever and of all time.
And not just like, oh he's good statistically, I mean stylistically,
(11:44):
he's my favorite athlete of all time any sport. And
so I do think this matters that they were nine
and seven pretty much the entire decade. You know, obviously
a little bit better, a little bit worse, but just
call it nine and seven the whole nineties. But you
had Barry, and so I think that is enough that
got the fan base, just like all in die Hard.
But what makes it remarkable is that you look at
(12:05):
some other fan bases around They have seasons where you
can see the stadiums aren't a packed, right you looking
down at Miami, And I know Miami is the most
football team when it comes to the Dolphins fan base,
but there are other places where you can just kind
of feel like, man, they're losing the fans for some reason.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
And now credit the Ford family. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Credit to boredom that winters in Detroit give you, I
don't know. The Lions have kept the fan base and
given them nothing, which is why you've heard me on
these airways over the years ready to check out, because
it's like, how much longer can we invest into a
team that ain't invested in us if you will, and
hasn't given us anything to cheer about.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
That's a fact, Jack, That is a fact.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Ran Barry out of town, ran Megatron out of town.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Yeah, losing Barry early and Megatron. That is the biggest
indictment on the city, on the Detroit Lions team. But
I'm actually super happy. But there's another part to it though, right,
is that how Dan Campbell has built this team. Because
(13:10):
when we all watched that press conference when he was
introduced as the coach, nobody thought this would go, well,
we're gonna bite ankles, We're gonna do it again, and
all like, bro, what's up with you? You sound like
a meathead? But he has clearly, He clearly knows football,
and the most important thing is he understands people. He
(13:32):
understands his players, because when you can get players to
play as hard as the Detroit Lions do, even when
they were two years ago terrible, and even last year
at the beginning of the year, like they were like
to get them to play as hard as they do.
And then he is he has empowered other former players,
Aaron Glenn, my former teammate, other guys on the coaching
(13:55):
staff do Staley. And for long it was weird like
we had fought well, not not we the.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
NFL had fallen into this.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Oh, let's go get the next genius guy instead of thinking,
oh my god, the genius guy might actually be one
of the guys who played, instead of passing them up
and letting them coach wide receivers, tight ends, linebackers, defensive coordinator,
ivis coordinate. Oh wait, actually, maybe those guys can actually
be the CEOs too.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Well, I think, I think to your point, I think
the best part about it. You talk to anybody who's
a millionaire, big time millionaire, big time billionaire, one of
the things they always say is one of my greatest
assets is of my ability to know I ain't the smartest,
right and higher around my strengths and weaknesses, hire folks
who are smarter than me. I don't want to be
the smartest person in my boardroom meeting and all of that. Uh,
And so I think Dan Campbell's credit. I don't think
(14:46):
it's just simply him. I think it's what you said.
I think he knew, he knows. I'm not the best
at this. I'm not the best at that. Let me
get these guys around me, and I'm what I am
great at is motivating. What I am great as you know,
the the temperature of my team and be able to
be able to read that. All right, let's take a
quick break here and we'll come back give you some
scores from earlier today.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
We got to talk about the.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Bills not getting it done and the other bill getting
it done as in Belichick. We'll talk about that, and
also this high scoring game and high offense, high octane
game that's happening right now the Chiefs Chargers. And I
got to ask you about the superfan lady too. I
gotta talk to you about that. A whole lot left
in this show. George Reister, kelvin Washington, with you Fox
Football Sunday. Hopefully you're having a wonderful day today on
(15:29):

I see what you did there, chrislu little Eminem.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
You know, a little Detroit action, I you know, make
it feel a little better after that loss, the beat
down by the Ravens. It happens, It does happen. I
love your attitude about it. You aren't you listen five
and two for Detroit.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
You'll take k Okay, Okay, we listen, listen, listen. We've
we've we've talked enough.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
I'm just saying, I gotta acknowledge. Acknowledge Eminem.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
It was part of the Detroit Rams super Bowl. He
performed at halftime.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
You said, the Detroit Rams.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Okay, they had Matthew Stafford and Eminem at halftime.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
What more do you want?
Speaker 3 (16:22):
We have had enough of the life.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
First of all, don't get mad because that's the team
you picked through the number one team in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Now you're trying to jump off.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Okay, now I want to I do want to go
to this this uh this quickly update man, This Chargers
Chiefs is living up to kind of what you expected.
Two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, two teams
that whenever they go at it. You heard Pat Mahomes
talking about it. He was he sounded like he was
echoing sentiments about himself, talking about Justin Herbert. He's like, Yo,
his kid's great, he's he's he's mobile, he's big arm.
(16:52):
He's talking about him. Team believes in them. And these
two were going at it right now. Pat Mahomes is
utterly ridiculous right now. His first half in you there's
still forty four left in this first half. His first
half stats look like really a normal game. Fifteen eighteen,
two hundred and forty one, two touchdowns. He's just an
interception if you're watching it. But he looks ridiculous right now.
(17:14):
And Justin Herbert not shabby himself, eight for ten, one
hundred and twenty eight yards in a touchdown for him.
So these guys are going at it for sure. And yes,
if you're keeping track, yes T Sweezy is in the building.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
And t Sweezee is Taylor Swift?
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:28):
She Hey, man, I appreciate Taylor Swift. I appreciate her.
I appreciate that she's at these NFL games.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Love it.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
And when you have people, oh my god, I can't
stand it, dude.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
I had people.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Calling to my show and they were like, I'm not
watching until Taylor Swift. Until if they're gonna show Taylor Swift,
I don't tune in to watch Taylor Swift like yo,
like seeing her for five seconds, like five times a
game is trigger into you.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Well, you understated the five times more like they counted
it was like eighteen one game. It was not no
eighteen like eighteen cutaways or something ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Man, it got it was the first time. All right, Okay,
how does this not make sense? Though I'm glad that
you got that you brought this up. How does it not.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Make sense for the NFL to show her?
Speaker 4 (18:21):
She has two hundred and seventy three million Instagram followers,
and then that's not even counting to other platforms, but
two hundred and seventy three million. Do you know how
many NFL has kelvin My guess what ten twenty eight
twenty eight million. And do you know what the NFL
(18:42):
wants As they're trying to grow the game and they're
having games in London and Germany and all of that stuff,
guess what they get.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Taylor Swift has fans over there. And when she.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Mentioned in one of her songs that she had had
a Philadelphia Eagles T shirt on, Uh what what was that? Yeah,
DeAndre Swift's jersey started being It went in the top
ten selling jerseys because Taylor Swift said it. And then
when it found out that she showed up at the
(19:18):
game at Travis Kelsey, his podcast became the number one
podcast on iTunes, on Apple Podcasts, and he was the
number one search term in the world on Google for
for a little bit.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
That's first of all.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
That just shows when God comes back, he's gonna be
so mad at us, the amount of putting, the amount
of touching we put into celebrities. Like I just it
was you didn't tell me. The most googled is like, Hey,
what stock should I buy? Or Hey, what's school the
best schools for kids? Or you know anything like that.
You're telling me is who who is this guy? Taylor
Swift dating is the number one of the most good work. Yees,
we're doing society for yes.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
For For a couple of hours on that day, he
was the most search term and his jersey sales went up.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Let me think four hundred. We know, okay, we know,
And I also know. I've been with you at parties
with some Taylor Swift like songs playing and you enjoyed it.
So you are definitely despite your size.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
I am not.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
I would not say a swifty.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
No, I might not get all the way to the tea,
but you're a swift you up there.
Speaker 7 (20:20):
No.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
I just I appreciate good music. She's a really good songwriter,
and I listen to all sorts of music.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
I have an eclectic taste or whatever.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Well eclectic.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Right now, I'm looking at this game seventeen seventeen tie
Chargers and Chiefs, and this is a really good one.
This is a big game. Obviously, it's a big game
for the Chargers, and then they're two and three. I mean, coach,
he has been on the hot seat so long he
got a permanent suntan down there. I mean, he is
just everybody has been wanting him gone, whether it be locally.
Obviously we live here in La folks have talked about it,
(20:49):
the few that do talk about the Chargers, and then
also nationally, folks have been calling for him, you know
Kellen Moore there now, I mean, it's.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
So bad that now there's to direct that attention at
Justin Herbert and it is it's ludicrous to me.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Well, I mean that's listen, we know Gonwelad ain't him.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
You can argue he's made some you know, had some
bad decisions, maybe a couple throws you won back, but listen,
every team in the NFL wants him, except maybe two
to three because they have they already have a guy
that's it. He is fantastic. And but again, I do
think this team continues to be underwhelming when you look
at the talent they have, at least on paper. Defensively,
they have not been what we expected. You can see
(21:31):
it again in its first half the way Mahomes and
these Chiefs have just been going up and down the
field on them. But again at seventeen seventeen tie right
now as little over three minutes as we look towards
halftime in this game, but let's just assume what has
historically happened between these two great quarterbacks happens, and that
is a very small victory for the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Are we looking at Monday's headlines and that they have
now fired Staley?
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Dude, I don't. I don't think that. See.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
I don't think that they ever fire him during the season.
And the main reason is because the Spanos family does
not like paying buyout money.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
We ain't got a double pay right.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Yes, even though sometimes you you gotta do what you
gotta do. And I'm not a big fan of firing
people in the middle of the season anyway, because it
doesn't make make sense. Who are you going to replace
them with somebody that's already on this coaching staff, on
this non winning coaching coaching staff. Moore, huh Now, the well, yes,
(22:40):
the the only way that I think that you should
do that is twofold one is if you have who
you think should be the replacement in the building already.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Right one.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
And the second and the second way that you should
is if you are is that if you know or
plan to hire a coach that's not in football right now,
because a lot of them won't talk to you or
start anything until if you have a coaching place.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
Already right well, looking at this game a game, man,
I think this is going to obviously this is one
of those games they need to get back in playoff
position anyway, so we'll keep you updated on that. I
did want to go to another game, that is the
Bills and the Patriots in Foxboro where the Patriots are
able to get a twenty nine to twenty five victory.
We'll come back on that because I want to get
your thoughts on Bill Belichick at I don't know how
(23:32):
old he is, but still getting some checks, boy, still
getting checks. We'll check in right and now when man
Martin Weiss, what's trending?
Speaker 3 (23:41):
NFL games? Week seven?
Speaker 5 (23:43):
All these games in the second quarter right now, the
Chargers and the Chiefs tied up seventeen apiece, like you
just said, Calvin Patrick Mahomes with two passing touchdowns and
an interception so far. Cardinals with the lead over the
Seahawks fourteen to seven. Rookies Jackson Smith and Jigba and
Jake Bobo, both of them with their first career touchdowns
for Seattle. Josh Dobbs as a rushing TD for the Cardinals.
(24:03):
Packers down to the Broncos six to nothing. Early will
Lutz with two field goals, and at halftime the Rams
lead to Steelers nine to three. Now, former Rams kicker,
I mean former Cowboys kicker current Rams kicker Brett Maher
spits the field goal and an extra point in.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
The first half here two to Atwell has the touchdown
for the Rams.
Speaker 5 (24:21):
Already finished rookie Tyson Page and gets a win in
his first start. Bears beat the Raiders thirty to twelve,
and all across Chicago people wondering is he the guy
all right?
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Ravens beat the Lions thirty eight to six.
Speaker 5 (24:32):
Lamar Jackson three passing touchdowns, one on the ground, three
in the fifty seven hours through the year. He's playing
out of his mind. Browns beat the Colts thirty nine
to thirty eight. Deshaun Watson started the game cleared the
concussion evaluation, but did not return after only throwing five passes.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
PJ. Walker finished the game out.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
Bill Belichick, like you just said, got his three hundredth
career win, next to the third winning coach in NFL history.
Patriots upset the Bills twenty nine to twenty five. The
Giants beat the Commanders fourteen to seven. Washington quarter back
Sam Howell has been sacked forty times this season. The
NFL record is seventy six. It's only week seven. I mean,
(25:09):
it's not great. It's not great at all, not great
at all the fucking I mean, and the Falcons walk
off Tampa Bay Buccaneers sixteen to thirteen. Young waykup with
a game winning field goal. And look here trying to
look up hole Bill BELICHICKI is, I believe my guess,
Let me guess, let me get go for it. Bill
Belichick is seventy one nailed it real, I'm kidding. April sixteenth,
(25:35):
nineteen fifty two, the Goat Coach was born.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
I was gonna go sick like sixty eight. I was like, no,
I think he's older than that. I had to start
thinking about other sixty year old folks I know. I
was like, no, he's older than that. Appreciate that, brother,
Tavy one back to you guys, seventy one years young,
still getting checks, getting extensions. So before we kind of
get into that little bit, talk about the fact that
they were able to rally his team up and beat
(25:58):
the Bills. By the way, this Billo team is a
weird team. You can't make the read on what they are.
They've had a lot of hype obviously the last couple
of seasons, a lot of expectations, and they've won, but
they haven't looked great. Then they look great, and then
they lose like today, and especially to a team of
the Patriots who are heading in the wrong direction. Even
you know, Mac Jones looking like he might want to
go back to Alabama and play. So I come to you, George,
(26:22):
when I say, with this Bills team, there's something about them,
I just don't buy. Yes, they're spectacular, it can be
at times. Yes, Josh Allen is elite at times, but
there's something about consistency, right, There's something about day in
day out. There's something about knowing what I'm gonna get again.
You're gonna have a stinker here there, You're gonna get
smacked up once twice throughout the season. But there's something
(26:43):
about just consistency that I don't get from them, that
I don't like from them when you're talking about in
a postseason or in a must win situation, it's something
about them I don't buy.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Why don't you buy it?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Because I feel as though it has to be For instance,
it is what I mean, when I watch Pat Mahomes,
I see somebody that if he's up thirty, if he's
that we saw an entire playoff run he was down
every game and still won a super Bowl. If he's down,
if his team has been like, I know he's gonna
he's gonna what he's gonna do, right, I know for
(27:16):
the most part. Obviously again, he's gonna have a bad
game here there, the team will, but I know I'm
still in it. I know he's gonna play at a
high level, and I kind of know what I'm going
to get from him. Right, That's what made Tom Brady
get great. Yes, down doesn't matter. Still in this thing, up,
still gonna put our foot on your throat. We're still
in this thing. And with the Bills, I feel like
when they're going, they're going. But I feel like when
they're not, they're not. And then you heard Josh Allen
(27:39):
multiple times and saw me I gotta be played. I
played like crap, and like, I just feel like there's
something many times do we have to hear the same Yeah, exactly,
And I just don't.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
I want to based off talent put them higher than
I really do. And I know, and I'm not mad
when other people do, but to me, they're not where
I think again, like I see a lot of folks
slay them to me because I don't buy them when
it matters most and if there is something to being champion,
like consistently for here's.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Here's the thing, right, And I talked, I've been talking
about this and I need people to understand this is
and and I need you to understand it too, Kelvin,
because you are you are falling victim to this same issue.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
And it's okay. It's easy.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
It's easy to happen because we are judging people and
we keep trying to judge quarterbacks against Tom Brady and
and the and the standard of excellence and consistency that
his team's displayed. And Patrick Mahomes. These are two unicorns.
(28:50):
These are these are outliers. These are not normal things
like like you're not gonna get another quarterback and end
up in the NFC champion I'm sorry, in the AFC
Championship game, hosting it five straight years, that that that
you can get that out of your mind. So it
so the the the expectations for fans is just it.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Makes no sense to me.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
It's the the same criticism that Josh Allen is gonna
get tomorrow. Is the same criticism that Justin Herbert got
after Monday Night football.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
I don't know if he can carry a team on his.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Back, but that but that's but that I get that.
That's extreme. That's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
How many people though, I mean, I mean, if we're
thinking about it, Kevin, how many quarterbacks right.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Like, can can do what?
Speaker 4 (29:42):
People actually think that They're like, oh my god, how
where his statement wins?
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Do you know?
Speaker 4 (29:49):
There's one Super Bowl champion every single year and in
five of the last In the last five years, Patrick
Mahomes has occupied that spot three times and he's won
two of the MVPs. Like, there's only so much room.
It's like the criticism of dak Oh, he stinks he
can't play, he's this, he's that.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
What are we talking about?
Speaker 4 (30:12):
These are if your quarterback, if he gets you to
the playoffs on a regular basis, one of these years,
you're probably.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Going to get it right.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
I mean, it's like Eli Manning.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
There's nothing about Eli Manning's.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Career that says Hall of Fame except people want to
point out two playoff runs and they're.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Like, yeah, that guy should be playing throughout the whole
like a sixteen year career.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
And now I completely agree with you with that.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
However, I will say this, and you have to agree,
we never had Eli Manning the singular player at the
same place we put Josh Allen. Right, Eli Manning, we
don't talk about historically. We didn't until those playoff runs
and a couple of throws, and even then we know
it was those defense. Yes he had a couple of
good passes, but we know it was that defensive front
(31:00):
was just a perfect matchup against those Patriots and a
couple other opponents on their way to.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
The Super Bowl. What I'm saying is you're in, You're out.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Now three four years, we're saying Josh Allen is the best,
or maybe he's a second best, or he's a third best,
and sometimes not even just quarterback, but player in all
of football. So when you start to get that praise,
that's what happens in any sport, when you start when
you are that guy, we start to then say, well,
where are certain statements, wins as you mentioned, or you know,
(31:27):
or a championship and pick the sport.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
We do that, right, if you're Clayton Kershaw. Well, I
don't need you to be Clayton kerse other worlds.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
God just needs you to be what you are in
regular season and the postseason for some reason doesn't happen
for him. Right, Lebron was amazing, but all of a
sudden we had to start nippicking a man. It ain't
mounting nothing in the playoffs, a man it ain't mountain
and none when it comes to finals. So when you
are somebody we rank as a top two, three four talent,
not even just at the position, this is what happens
(31:55):
we want to see in.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
The eight They've gone to the playoffs every year he's
been in the AFS Championship game.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
So nobody's saying nobody's I got you to hear me,
come on here and just say, Josh Allen is whack.
All I said is there is some type of consistency
I would like to see from this Bill's team with
he and him at the helm.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
That's all I'm saying. That's why I said, so like
they're not one, so.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
What more consistent?
Speaker 4 (32:18):
And granted they are four and four and three, which
is a little bit disappointing at this point, but But
what more consistency would you have liked to see out
of Josh Allen and this.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Yeah he's had He's had some games where they lost
because of him. Yes, okay, so it's like that that's
gonna happen every now and again. I don't mind that,
but there there have been moments where it was and
because of him. And as you mentioned, you just can't
lose to a Patriot team. That's that is not there's
This ain't the Tom Brady of you know, the Patriots.
This is a team that you should go in there
(32:52):
and win, even if it's a close one. Right, this
is the NFL. They get paychecks, they're pros too. I'm
okay with that. But you go in there, you take
care of business. Now you're five and two, and again,
I'm not saying they're not making the postseasons. This is
the worst season. All I'm saying is there's something about
this team. At times I feel like we want to
place them higher than really what they are. But when
they're rolling, I get it. When they're rolling, it's spectacular
(33:14):
to see.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
Yeah, they are a good football team, but they are
the like there are certain teams that are only going
to be judged by what they do in the postseason.
The Bills are one of those teams. Nobody is going
to care at all about about what this team does
(33:40):
and that they could go fifty, they could go sixteen
to one. If they get knocked out in their first
playoff game or lose in the AFC Championship game, it's
going to be underwhelming. The same thing with the Dallas Cowboys,
same thing with the Chiefs, same thing with the other
top team, sanfrans Let's go forty nine ers. The top
(34:02):
teams in the league are not judged by the regular season,
even though people want to put these things on there,
when the only thing that matters the most is what
happens when you get in the playoffs, and that's where
the judgment should should lie for the top teams.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Well, then if that is according to your logic, which
I get what you're saying and I agree, but we
can't talk about them to the postseason, then that's what
you're saying. We can't even talk about if they have
a disappointing loss as they did against the Patriots. Congrats
to Bill Belichick three hundred wins and also getting an
extension with the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
I mean that. I mean, it's great to be.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
The mead mask.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
It's great where you can get you can get extensions.
If you're a quarterback, you can be possibly President Joe
Biden get another four years, he'd be like, yeah, what
he's done. It just keeps on going. All right, Hey,
you gotta take a quick break. I do want to quickly.
It still ties to the NFL, but you brought up
something to me all fair that you wanted to get into,
(34:56):
and that is somebody preparing to go to the NFL
and it they need to shut it down. Talking Caleb Williams,
I want to get your thoughts on that.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
We'll do that. Next.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
It is Fox Football Sunny kelvin Washington. George Reister, make
sure you hit us up by the way on Twitter,
George Reister, Caleb Live as well twitterly Twitter formerly known
as twitter X. I should say, we'll be right back

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Hi, this is Jay Glazer.
Speaker 8 (35:18):
And you may know me for the world of football
or fighting or even shows like HBO's Bawlers. Well you
don't know is for my entire life. I have lived
in something I refer to as the gray depression anxiety.
So now I'm coming out with a new podcast, Unbreakable,
a mental health podcast with Jay Glaser, where each week,
while we talk about mental health, I hope to describe it,
(35:39):
give it words. Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer on
the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Fox Football Sunday, kelvin Washington, George Reister with You eight

(36:11):
buying should be. I don't want to waste any time.
I want to get straight to your thoughts. Here so
many good games right now, I'm looking at one of
my face ten to nine. You got the Stealers, up
one on the rams, you got the of course, we've
been talking twenty four to seventeen chiefs on the charge
of some other good ones. We'll get to some other
scores shortly, But I do want to quickly talk about
you were saying to me, all fair, do you want
(36:31):
to have a quickly conversation about Caleb Williams, who was
the presumed gonna end up winning first Heisman in fifty
year back to back winner the Trojans. We're hoping to
make the college football playoff and then maybe have a
chance for a championship. After that loss on the weekend,
it looks like to Utah, it looks like the college
football championship part is I We'll still see with the heisman,
(36:53):
But in order to win a Heisman, you gotta play most,
if not all, of the games. And you're telling me, maybe,
just maybe Williams to think about shutting it down.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Oh, I'm saying he should not even consider that, but you,
but you had a cho and some other people talking
to oh, he should, he tweeted at all.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
He should shut it down.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
He and get ready for the draft now that their
goals are done.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
And I'm like, what type of what type of sense
does that make?
Speaker 4 (37:24):
If I were a team and he shut it down
right now and he was not hurt, I'm not drafting him.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
You're lying, No, I'm not promise you, I would.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Not, Okay, are you the GM or the coach, because
if you're the GM, I owner. If you're the GM,
i'm gonna say the owner is gonna make you. And
if you're the coach, I'm gonna say, the GM is
gonna make you.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Like listen, listen. If I am the owner, there is
no way, shape form, or fashion that I would draft
Caleb Williams if he shut down the season right now
and he's not hurt.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
No way is it to the NFL draft the movie
that it said, remember that they were like.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Go talk to his friends about why nobody showed up
at the party.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
Oh, I like a draft job in the movie? Is
this what is?
Speaker 9 (38:02):
No?
Speaker 4 (38:02):
It's because right, there are certain things, which is as
the leader of the franchise, right, a guy that I
want to I want to do this is gonna come
fight no matter what. And the Trojans still have the
opportunity to make the Pac twelve Championship.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
They control their own destiny.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
All they have to do is win out and that
means they would get to beat two top ten teams
and probably a top five team in Well, sorry, a
top five and a top ten team in Oregon and Washington,
and you're gonna have to play Ucla, who's gonna be
at that point in time a top fifteen team. So
so you mean to tell me when when the hard
(38:45):
part of your schedule comes up, and after you played
the two worst games of your career, you got beat
up in Notre Dame, you played terrible, You just played
okay against Utah and you lost again. Now you're gonna
shut it down before you play Oregon, before you play
watching him, before you play Ucla, and you just beat
up on everybody else? Absolutely not, sir, Well, absolutely, that
(39:07):
is red flaggy.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Well, I think most people will get your sentiment right,
and that's why I was joking, But I was kind
of serious when I compared it to the movie Draft Day,
where they were like I forgot the quarterbacks name, but
they were like, no, go find out And his teammates
didn't come those party because they didn't buy him.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
He wasn't that type of guy.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Nobody really liked him, and I think that would tie
into same thing, that you're the type of guy that
would just make it all about you, that you're the
focal point. We've heard him talk about how he wants equity.
We know he had more big time, nil money. He
was all of that. I actually did a thing with
the La Times Today's show on the Spectrum about how
the last year, about how this has just been in
the works for years he and his father like, how
(39:42):
they've had this plan. So I think this would be
a personal indictment if he does that looking as a leader.
But I think this is the world we're stepping into
where everything is about me and everything is about the
best decision for me.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
I ultimately don't think he's going to though.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Yeah, he better not. He better not.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
I don't think he'll do it.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Hey, a lot of great games the second half of
the day, we'll go over a couple more from the
first and get you updated on the action you're missing
right now. Some great games, especially this Chief Charges one.
It's Fox Football Sunday.
Speaker 7 (40:12):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 1 (40:24):
That is right, Fox Football Sunday, Kelvin Washington and George
Reister with you again. Eight seven to seven nine ninety
six six three six nine. Reach out to us. George
reister kdib live on x formerly known as Twitter. Some
good games throughout the day. One of the games that's
happening right now I want to touch on as a
nine to nothing lead as they literally just kicked off
(40:45):
the second half Broncos over the Packers. I want to
talk about this one, George, because Broncos Let's ride ain't
happening right now.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
They ain't ride nowhere.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Yes, they're up nine to nothing, But this has been
a rough season for a new coach, Sean Payton. This
has been a rough season for Russell Wilson in the
sense of we thought maybe they could get back on
track now that he's got Sean Payton in offensive quarterback
minded coach. Early on, before this season even actually starts,
we hear stuff about, you know, Russell Wilson, this, he
(41:17):
doesn't talk to the players. You gotta sign, you gotta
make appointments. And it's still stuff coming out of his
teammates from Seattle Mouths.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
So it's just been one of those season.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
There one in five, arguably the worst team in football,
And I guess this leads me to the question of
is there any way to dig themselves out of this hole?
Meaning if it ends up being an eight and nine season,
A seven to ten?
Speaker 3 (41:44):
Is there?
Speaker 4 (41:44):
Nine?
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Is there?
Speaker 1 (41:45):
I know, right, I'm just being That's why I'm trying
to be optimistic to say, is there anything where you
can see the marriage between these two could work?
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Or is this just bound to end?
Speaker 1 (41:56):
We're paying both of them a lot of money, but
we're surely not gonna get rid of the coach because
we just got him and we got to find I know,
but you can't get rid.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Of either one of these dudes at this point.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
But we've seen, we've heard that you can't before, and
people find ways to do so. So you wonder if
there's just a way they can find a way, some
type of deal, some type of teams who feels almost
like Sean Payton felt in that No, no, no, let
me get a hold of Russ. I can rebuild him.
I know what I can do with him. Y'all just
don't know what you're doing.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
Listen.
Speaker 4 (42:26):
I know that there's gonna be some of that out there,
but the reality is unless he agrees to some sort
of contract restructure like Aaron Rodgers did where it's a
mutual trade away. Aside from that, I mean, there there
(42:47):
is no way. He's got one hundred million dollar cap
hit and it's like eighty something next year. So there,
I mean that that's almost the entire salary. That's like
half your salary cap for your entire team.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
No chance you.
Speaker 4 (43:03):
You literally would not even be able to field an
entire roster. So that's why I say it's impossible. But
so this is one of those if I'm the Waltons
and I've traded, I've traded well previous to me, we
traded all these assets to get Russell Wilson, and then
(43:24):
we traded all these assets to get the coach in
Sean Payton. We are having a real live, come to
Jesus meeting after this season, like like, look, I don't
care what y'all got going on because because you know what,
cap hit, no cap hit, back to back, zero and
(43:44):
four seasons, whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
I can deal with it.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
I'm a I'm a multi billionaire and me and the wife,
So either y'all figure it out or I'll fire you both.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
How how about that?
Speaker 4 (44:01):
Yeah? And I know that you'll take your nice party
gifts and all of that stuff, but I'll be okay, right,
I can wait this thing out. So either y'all can continue. No,
I'm not saving either one of you.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
Get it together, fix it.
Speaker 4 (44:18):
We will send you to mediation, we will hire a consultant.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
Whatever you need to do it figure it out.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
You did turn it in. I thought you was talking
about Will and Jada the way you just brought it up.
Speaker 4 (44:28):
Whatever, whatever you need to do, figure it out.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
Fam, Yeah, they got they have to absolutely figure out.
You talk about the money that's on the books, and
again you just on paper, you thought this would be
something that can work, and you wonder. You start to
wonder if Sean Payton ain't sitting there, man, I could
have just stayed on Fox talking sports for a living,
having fun, getting paid, and then just cherry picked some
job that I would want at the end of the season.
A fumble in the game, right now, the Chiefs had
(44:52):
the ball, they were coming down, look like they were
about to score on the Chargers, and they just fumbled.
And now the Chargers get the balls chance to come
down and maybe hopefully tie this thing up for them.
Seventeen down, seventeen to twenty four. But I'm watching this
game and I'm just thinking, I mean, this is too
not only bad, but also bad in the sense of boring. Right,
you talk about the Packers and the Broncos. The Jordan
(45:14):
Love project is not going as well as you would hope.
The project between Sean Payton Russell Wilson clearly isn't going
as well as you'd hope. This is just two teams
that are just, you know, historically are really good teams,
the Broncos and the Packers, but not the case right now.
Looking at another game, you got the Steelers who are
down seventeen ten to the La Rams. And the Rams
(45:36):
have been like a team that, you know, middle of
the pack there three and three, three and three. But
now they got Cooper cut back, they got obviously they
got what's my man, Cooper?
Speaker 3 (45:48):
Nuka Nuka Luka Nuka Luka, Pooka Nuka Lula. Yeah, him too,
Pooka Noopa Luma. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
You sound like my dad, bro. My dad is atrocious
with names. Well, I mean he will butcher somebody's name.
He'll be like, hey, yo, hey yo. Remember when you
was on that show with the with the with the
Calvin Wishbone.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
If you see a new if you see a new
Twitter for ex, handle on this Kelvin Wishbone, it's your boy,
because I might have to take that.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
In fact, I'm not not even Kelvin Calvin.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
Calvin wishbuss Well, your dad is just like a lot
of my family members, they still call me Calvin or Kevin.
I still got uncles to this day, keV. What's up,
big ken Kevin. I'm like, oh, oh, we gotta come
on now. At some point we gotta get it right.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
We got that clothes.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
At some point, we have got to get this right.
Speaker 1 (46:44):
I went four years with my principal in high school
called me Kevin. But I've told this before. He never
just said it once. He would always say it twice.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
He would be Kevin, Kevin.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
I'll be walking down the hall maybe you know, doing
something not supposed to drivel to basketball, wearing a hat
or something. Kevin Kevin every time for four years, mister
young get it right. But then going back to this
Rams team, Uh, I mean this is a team that listen.
When Matthew Stafford is healthy and right, he's right. Uh
you got to two at well who has scored a
touchdown for them as well, kind of being the speedster
(47:13):
on this team.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
Uh, the Rams are team that listen. They've been there before.
Speaker 1 (47:18):
Sean McVay obviously has the pedigree as a very good coach.
The Rams are a team that you might not be
the sexiest, it might not be one of the top
teams we talk about on a week to week basis,
but they're one of those teams that will be scary
towards the end of the season heading into the postseason.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
And what they may be able to do uh in
a postseason run.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (47:42):
Ow, I don't believe that they're gonna end up with
the with the postseason run. But but yes, but yes
they can. Yeah, go ahead. No, this this team is
like they're they're a teetering They're a team that needs
the postseason probably And I know it sounds sounds weird,
(48:05):
but but can you understand why I would say that
they need a postseason run this year as much as
almost any other team in the league.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
Ah?
Speaker 2 (48:15):
Is it because maybe they be stale?
Speaker 7 (48:17):
Yah?
Speaker 3 (48:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (48:18):
Like we you know we I mean that's kind of
a weird thing, dude. They've been to the Super Bowl,
they lost one, they go to another one, they win one.
Yet you're over here like they got to get in
the super Bowl, I mean, make a good postseason run?
Is the age is Stafford, Stafford another year old away?
Speaker 3 (48:32):
What else?
Speaker 4 (48:33):
Yes, that that's exactly well, it's it's that.
Speaker 3 (48:37):
It's that.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
What we're witnessing even today at SOFI Stadium. And same
thing when the Cowboys came there, when the Dolphins, which
team had more fans, well, the all of them except
for the Yes, the Raiders, every single team had more
fans except for the Rams. I mean, like, sorry, had
(49:01):
more fans than the Rams. So what winning does, because
you're back new to LA to like the crowd that's
actually going to be buying personal seat licenses and all
of that, like to like to those people who are
in their thirties, forties, fifties, and probably early sixties that
(49:22):
are going to be spending the money to get into
the stadium. So you want to indoctrinate those people who
are going to indoctrinate those those kids because remember all
of there are tons of NFL fans in LA. They're
fans of every different team because this is a transplant city.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
But you actually have.
Speaker 4 (49:44):
To convert people from being because you're not going to
be able to convert very many adults, so you're going
to have to convert the kids to being like in
their schools and all of that to being Rams fans,
Rams fans, Rams fans, and winning makes it cool to
be a Rams fan.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
So I think that the Rams.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
At least for the first five, six ten years of
them being here, that they have to be relevant. It
has to be cool to be a Rams fan that way.
Now you can, you know, make sure that you're building
your base for the future.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
I get what you mean in it.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
Similar instance, you go back to the Clippers, and that
was some wasted time they had with those live city teams,
turned to the Kawhi now Paul George teams, where they'll
never La will never not be a Laker town. But
to your very point, when you have younger kids, you know,
I have daughters who are young, you have young kids
like they can you know, look it up and say, hey,
(50:47):
oh I heard you with the Lakers, and I get that, daddy,
I get that, grandfather. And all I know is the
Lakers are down and the Clippers were up. You know,
all I know is the Clippers maybe won a championship.
You know, that's the chance they had, is what I'm saying.
The Warriors kind of did that where you started to
walk around in La you know, five six years ago
and you see a lot of young kids with some
Steph Curry Jersey's on. You started to see a lot
of kids and even adults wearing some Warrior stuff and
(51:09):
want to go see the Warriors play. So you have
you have a great point right there, bad throw by
Gino Smith right there, they're in their own maybe they're
on the red zone and he just do a terrible
pass to get an interception against the Cardinals although they're
up seventeen ten.
Speaker 3 (51:22):
You know, I like Gino, right those was a bad throw. Gena.
Speaker 4 (51:27):
Yeah. And it's funny is that you knew that something
was coming as soon as I started the sentence.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
With I liked Geno.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
But but like at the end of the Cincinnati game,
him taking two sacks on fourth down in the red zone.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
I couldn't.
Speaker 4 (51:46):
I couldn't. It was so annoying because you're like, dude,
you cannot take a sack there, Like it doesn't matter
whether you throw a pick. And that was the things
that felt like he was trying to protect the completion percentage, like, yes,
at that point, you have to make a risky throw.
Yeah it's fourth down. Yeah you're getting there, Like like
(52:08):
there there, There is no takebacks, right, just as long
as you don't throw a pick six, it's fine. Let
them pick it in the end zone if you want to,
let it be a fifty to fifty ball.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
But the ball's got to come out of your hands
no matter.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
What, without a doubt.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
But I tell you what, though, Gino Smith has been
a great comeback story. I mean, we thought he was
gonna be holding the clipboard for the rest of his career,
you know, and maybe that wasn't even gonna be long.
So for Gino Smith to be a starter, a good starter,
and having his team playing pretty dog going well, you know,
the last couple of seasons. You got to give him
credit for staying in the game, staying focused, staying having
his team and coaches buying into him to give him
(52:44):
the opportunity. And now he is a legitimate starter in
this league. So you got to give him credit for that.
And he's gonna he's gonna Geno Smith going Geno Smith.
But you gotta give him some love and credit for that,
because again, this is a guy we thought it was
a rap for him, uh, and he's been able to
to find a way to stay in this league.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
That's a quick break. I want to when we come back.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
You got a big game coming up Sunday night, Eagles
Dolphins and one of those questions of who needs this
win the most, Eagles Dolphins will do that next. George Reister,
kelvin Washington, hanging out with you on this Fox Football Sunday.
By the way, we're in the final stretch to get
tickets to horse racing's biggest moment of the year. The
world's best are headed to Santa Anita for the Breeders'
(53:24):
Cup World Championships. It's gonna be on November third and fourth,
and the countdown begins.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
Now.
Speaker 1 (53:28):
You can get your tickets at Breeders Cup dot com.
Go check them out there. We'll come right back. We'll
talk about that big game between again the Dolphins and Eagles.
That it's Fox Football Sunday. Hey, Chris, I'm glad you're
playing this some Taylor Swift because member of the Kansas
City Chiefs, never of the Kansas City Chiefs looking like
an owner, which, by the way, as much money as
(53:48):
she were, if she could at least be a minority order,
that's for sure. A great run there by, your boy,
Patrick Mahomes as the Chiefs Serre of twenty four to seventeen.
It is Fox Sports Sunday with Kelvin Washingington George Reister
with you Live from the tirerack dot Com Studios. The
reason I say that, though, Chris, is because George had
the nerve to say they only sure like four or
(54:10):
five times a game. I've been keeping a count and
we are at six right now, not full, not five now.
We are at six right now. We still have more,
and we may have been at more. I went away
and went to the restroom, got some water when it
comes time so.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
I can keep an actor track going. Well we were.
I don't know, no, George, I don't want to know
you why your why? Mays know?
Speaker 4 (54:33):
I'm saying that that why it's more today than it
had been. It is more today because Travis Kelsey is
putting is putting up an amazing day.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
If that's what you want to believe, I'm with it.
Got you sold. I don't agree at all.
Speaker 3 (54:54):
In fact, like six hundred yards today.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
Yeah, I mean know he's getting down the speaking of
another team that that's getting down off offensively. That is
a game coming up here in a little bit. You
got Sunday Night Football, two teams five and one to
two teams looking great in their conferences. Talking about the
Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins. If you if you
go statistically on the offensive side, both of these teams
are insane. I'm I would start with the Dolphins. We're
seeing stuff at a historical rate right now. They lead
(55:19):
the league in basically five hundred yards a game. It's
four ninety eight point whatever, but let's just call it
five hundred yards. That's that's five a game. And they're saying,
like week two or three, that's crazy. They got one
hundred and eighty two yards a game rushing. And that's
the remarkable because you think of them, you think of
Tua hitting these passes to waddle to obviously cheetah, so
(55:40):
on and so forth. But it's also the it's the
rushing games. They lead the league by far in both
of those categories. Now you know who's number two in
total offense and also rushing yards. It's the Eagles three
hundred and ninety five. But look at that is one
hundred yard difference in offense between number one team and
the Dolphins and number two team, and then they're set
in rushing, but they're also thirty yards behind at one
(56:03):
hundred and fifty yards a game rushing. So that just
shows you how incredible it has been for those two offense,
but specifically the Dolphins. Jalen Warren just gets a nice
touchdown for the Steelers looking to tie this game up
to seventeen seventeen with the Rams.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
We'll see if they get the extra point.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
But you're talking about two offensive that has been insane
and our last one and I'll go to you, George,
but first chance for these teams to be the first
two teams since nineteen seventy to average two hundred and
forty yards passing and a buck fifty on the ground.
That's more like a college thing that happens in college football,
where you get the Alabamas because they're beating up on.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
A bunch of James Madison's in Youngstown and.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
All that hold up.
Speaker 4 (56:42):
You better put some respect on James madison name. Right now,
them boys is undefeated and is hating on them.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
That is that is a very good point. And I
only use them because they sound like a law firm.
But you know, and then the next thing you know,
they actually are balling out but you get my point.
Alabama Michigan has been incredible this year. That's more of
a college football To see what Miami is doing in
the pros, it's kind of wild. I look at this
game and it's gonna be interesting because, as you mentioned it,
what will be talked about on the Monday Morning quarterback
(57:11):
shows when everybody's gonna be talking about this, talking about
that if if the Eagles were to lose, and it's
gonna be Jalen Hurts is not as spectacular as we
thought last season was maybe not a fluke in that
he's as if he has been terrible, but he's not
the second in MVP race like he was last year
like we thought. I can already hear that narrative coming.
(57:31):
But to me, I'm not worried about the Eagles even
at a loss because, as we mentioned earlier, for those
who may be listening, they're just steady. To me, again,
I don't expect them to only lose one game two
games to other season, but they're just steady.
Speaker 3 (57:45):
I know what I'm getting.
Speaker 1 (57:46):
There's not a lot of if you look at a
graph where we go all the way up, then we
come all the way down. I know what Jalen hurts
is about his ability to make the big plays off
play action, ability to make it all those you know,
those times where he's in getting out of the pocket
and finding aj Brown and whatnot. And it also his
ability to run third and one, fourth and one is
almost automatic with him. So even if they lose, I
like what they bring, what they present throughout a long
(58:09):
seventeen game season. I'm not overly worried about them. Miami,
on the other hand, is like if they get smacked
up again like they did to the Bills again, I'm
not thinking this is the end of the season. But
I think the Eagles have been built for this. They're
still steady. They're thinking about Super Bowl right, We're getting
back to it and redeeming themselves. Understanding it's a long season,
(58:29):
So I worry less about them, even if the on
the outcome is not favorable for them.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
Well, I think that the.
Speaker 4 (58:37):
That one team needs this more than the other team does,
and this is this is a game the Dolphins need
more than the Eagles need. I agree because the Eagles
have proven and we believe that their style of play
and everything that it travels right.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
But I think that the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (59:00):
They need home field advantage more than any team.
Speaker 3 (59:03):
Good point.
Speaker 4 (59:04):
Yeah, Now, the Chiefs want home field advantage because they've
had hosted the AFC Champion Conference Championship game in the
last five years, just because they like playing at home.
They're used to it, all of that stuff. But we
believe that that that travels, right, But we're not one
hundred percent sold or even believe at all that the
(59:26):
Miami that Miami travels that.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
Oh yeah, we don't know if that track meet is
going to travel.
Speaker 4 (59:31):
Yes, because we have not seen their defense play well
enough to where when their offense gets a little bit
slowed that they can get stops.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
So we got to have them.
Speaker 4 (59:44):
So it's gonna be a minute before we are certain
about this Dolphins team.
Speaker 1 (59:50):
Let me ask you this because you mentioned the defense,
and they are right now twenty six giving up passer
rating of ninety eight point nine to other teams other
teams all so are they're at the bottom of the
league when they're giving up sixty nine percent of passes
against this Dolphins secondary? Have you we you do play
on the team or just talk about like I mean, look,
there have been teams historically where we're like man, if
(01:00:13):
that only if that other side of the ball got
it together. You know you say about the Ravens, they
you know they would tell them begging, plead, if you
could just get us ten points, please just get us
ten will win. Because that defense during the Ray Lewis
era was so good. Maybe if you go back to
the Bucks and that Warren Sap, Derek Brooks, you know,
Rendez Barber, John Lynch era of that team where the
(01:00:34):
offense was like, man, just don't cost us the game,
will win it if you go to the offensive side
of the ball. A lot of times with those Colts
teams until they finally got it together defensively. You felt
the same with with those Peyton Manning Coats teams. I
wonder if if Miami, to your point, starts to get
to amank, I mean, can we have an off game
defense or is it the defenses on the field so
(01:00:56):
much because they're scoring so many points because they're such
a high, off octane offensive when they score so quick,
that they're back out there and I'm wondering, are they
as bad as it seems or just they're out there
so much.
Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
Yeah, that's a very good point, because they're.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Out there when they score. Look it's happening.
Speaker 4 (01:01:13):
See. Here's here's the Here's the thing is that there's
a level of reality to what you're saying right there
is whereas the defense, like, there are a lot more
opportunities for teams when you score and put up a
lot of points. But there's a difference between yards and
giving up a lot of points because sometimes when the defense,
(01:01:37):
when a team scores so many offensive points, sometimes that
then then translates into a lot more yards because the
other team gets more possessions. But when those possessions turn
into points, that's the gotcha.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Gotcha.
Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
That's where you kind of you know, like understand where
the best defenses are and where good defenses and bad
defenses line.
Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
Yeah, well they clearly are not one of those. We'll
see how they're able to handle the Eagles tonight. That
should be a good one. Hopefully all the stars play
at their best and that'll be a fun game to
watch for sure. Right now, getting you updated on what
is happening, What is trending with a man Martin Weiss,
what's trending brother?
Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Week seven NFL scores in action right now these games
in the fourth quarter, the Steelers in the Rams tied
at seventeen apiece.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
TJ.
Speaker 5 (01:02:28):
Watt with an interception. Yeah, you heard that right, TJ.
Watt with an interception. It was a nice one too.
And you know what, former Cowboys kicker, current Rams kicker
Brett Mayer, he's been two field goals and extra points
so far.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
Yikes, that's what I call that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
You're starting to get towards updating your LinkedIn point, might
have to update the LinkedIn.
Speaker 5 (01:02:45):
So Cardinals, Cardinals in the Seahawks right now in the
fourth quarter as well, seventeen to.
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
Ten lead for Seattle.
Speaker 5 (01:02:52):
In the third quarter, Packers trailing the Broncos sixteen to three.
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
Packers have not been able to get anything going offensively.
Speaker 5 (01:03:00):
Field goalfest there Courtland Sutton with the receiving touchdowns and
then started the fourth quarter. The Chiefs lead the Chargers
twenty four to seventeen. Last time I checked, Patrick Mahomes
has three in his sixty five passing yards and they
still have fifteen minutes to play.
Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
No, he's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
And by the way, if you're folks watching it, he's
doing on the ground too. He's been making those huge,
annoying plays. Less Rye Broncos guy used to do all
the time. Bears getna win. They beat the Raiders thirty
to twelve.
Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
Maybe DeVonta Adams was onto something, even though he did
have seven receptions.
Speaker 3 (01:03:28):
Today Ravens beat the Lions thirty eight to six.
Speaker 5 (01:03:31):
Lamar Jackson twenty one for twenty seven, three fifty seven
through the air. Couldn't his great So the Browns beat
the Colts thirty nine to thirty eight. Deshaun Watson started
the game clear the concussion evaluation, but did not return.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
PJ.
Speaker 5 (01:03:42):
Walker gotta win. That's his second. That's a starter in Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
You know they say that that win doesn't count for him.
Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
Why because it didn't sort. Sorry, yeah, he didn't stick
that up lip. We you know what.
Speaker 10 (01:03:53):
Everybody knows what happened. Xflard saw that was his win.
Every Boston was one for five with a pick before
you left.
Speaker 5 (01:04:03):
It was ugly, and everybody else saw Bill Belichick in
his three hundredth career win, making him the third winning his.
Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
Coach in NFL history.
Speaker 5 (01:04:10):
As the Patriots upset Josh Allen and the Bills twenty
nine to twenty five, the Commanders lost to the Giants
fourteen to seven. Tyrod Taylor got his second start of
the season, first win, and the Falcons walked off the
Buccaneers to take sole position in first place of the
NFC South with Young Wayku.
Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
With the field goal sixteen to thirteen. He was filling
real swaggy after that field goal too. I mean I
was helming, he was flexing a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:04:33):
I mean, look, if you get lifted on the shoulders,
all these men, like everybody's looking at you, because you
know what, they definitely were looking at Desmond.
Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
Ridder, that's for sure, not at all, that's for sure.
And too, Look, if you're a kicker, you gotta own it.
You gotta take you because just next week they might
be on your back because you missed the game winning
fields as bred Maar, you got exactly. You gotta enjoy that, Martin,
Thank you, brother, We appreciate it. By the way, Adam
Kaplin's gonna be joining us in about an hour, so
we'll have some forward with him and check in with
him in all of the NFL stories there. Uh, I
(01:05:02):
did I want to do to go back to something
as there's some great games going on in the NFL, but
I do want to touch jump back, get your thoughts
had to have that chance to talk to you, George
about what they're doing, uh in Michigan with all the rules, uh,
saying that they were you know, the spying and the
investigation into that, and they sent somebody to watch these
games and get some intel. And the funniest thing is
(01:05:25):
is Michigan State, who folks are saying may have been
the school involved in this, and they took they gotta
beat downs almost like to say, bro, okay, who's nitched?
Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
I have it on good authority, Okay, on good authority
from a from a source that that actually came from Columbus, buddy,
actually came from Columbus, and that the that the cheating. Now,
now this has not been confirmed yet, so but I'm
saying that this is from a source who who was
(01:05:58):
giving me a lot of very reliable information throughout the years,
and that this may not only be that this may
be much more sinister. Yes, like logging into people's exos
accounts and all sorts of stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
See yeah, go ahead, keep going.
Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
Exos accounts, for everybody that knows, are like huddle accounts
for high school teams where where like you can share
clips and all of this stuff. So like the players
have tablets or iPads or whatever they use for that
particular team, and they can show and the coaches can
share cutups and clips and all of that stuff with
(01:06:39):
them and then practice and all of that. So apparently
what may have happened because remember Michigan who said that
nothing had been going on. So there's a sign stealing scandal.
And when when you just say sign stealing, you're like, Okay, well,
who cares change change your signs? That's your own problem.
(01:07:02):
But then if you are doing advanced scouting and going
to games and filming, that's a whole nother cannon worms,
because I don't care if you steal signs. If you
can steal them in the game figuring out, that's what
you're supposed to do. But if you're sending people and
you are videotaping, that's where you have crossed the line.
And if and if there's any truth into logging into
(01:07:24):
XOS accounts, that is a a like like it's so
if that's true, because remember Michigan suspended him, So if
he did nothing wrong, why would Michigan suspend him? First thing,
and then the second thing is that if this is true,
(01:07:45):
you have to the NCAA or the conference, the Big
Ten Conference has to act immediately. They cannot wait until
the until a year from now, two years from now
to make a determination. You have to ban Michigan from
the college football playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
Currently you're saying, okay, all right, so lot to lot
to dissect here.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Number one, I think the difference in.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
Gamesmanship being clever, being a little tricky, a little little
you know, little little sneaky is when if you're if
you're baseball right and you're stealing signs, I can see
what they're doing. Okay, he's said, you know, maybe the
pitcher's tipping away, the catcher's tipping some things.
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
I can see that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
Somebody's good on third base, and I can they can
kind of see what's going okay. That that's just you're
not being safeguarding enough. You're not blocking these things enough.
That's on you, right. I think if you go to
the the Houston Astros, some folks call them trash tros,
they're banging on trash bends. When you start dealing with technology, right,
if you're jose L two a possibly having some type
(01:08:52):
of center in his jersey, and when you start bringing
technology any things, you know, if you're baseball and you're
filming and you're maybe possibly using late and all these
little things to tip off people, that's when it's it
goes to another level of just hey, look they're trying
to get one up on us. They got it. Hey,
we're tipping our signs a little bit. We're we're showing
our hands a little bit. Uh you know, maybe they're
(01:09:13):
reading our lips. And you know, guys talk to each other.
That's why you always see players and coaches kind of
cover their mouth with the with the play calling sheet
and all that good stuff. If what you're telling me, though,
is it starts to get to hacking in this stuff,
breaking into stuff, cyber attacking people teams. That's when it
goes from all of most people kind of hearing this, going, oh,
come on, man, everybody still signs just part of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
Come on, that's just part of the game. Don't get caught.
That's just what we do too.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Like all right, hold on now, if you I gotta
I gotta update my my uh my, my virus keeper
on my computer because of you, that's a problem. If
you know what I mean, I gotta I gotta upgrade
my uh my security on my my my computers, then
that's a problem. And that is where maybe why you're
starting to see the NCAA jump in and it's more
(01:09:58):
than just hey, we send a guy. He's refilming because dude,
you played high school and pee wee and football, that
maybe even basketball, any sport. You send somebody to scout
the other team. And if in the process of scouting
that you see their assistant coach or their quarterback coach
and he's throwing up something like he's throwing up gang
signs in LA and you like, oh shoot, when he
(01:10:18):
threw that up they threw that pass, then that's just
what it is. I think it has to be one
up more than just that because that to me, if
that's the case, then they could have been Michigan, it
could have been Oklahoma, could have been you know.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
UCLA, like anybody.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
Most teams do, they send guys the recruit they scout
might have seen a player two. Now what's interesting is
the NFL NCAA used to allow headphones. Remember that, they
used to allow I mean the little headset in the
quarterback's ears.
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
You know, hey, what are we doing? What are we running?
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
They banned that in ninety four.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
The NFL allows it, so one could argue, you could say, hey,
this would be a great time to bring that back
so I can directly talk to my quarterback. You don't
have to worry about signs per se because I'm talking
directly to my quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:11:04):
You think they'll go back to that.
Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
Yeah, I think that that could be coming because that
would that would make a lot of sense.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
That makes a lot of sense, and it.
Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
Would be very easy to to implement.
Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
Really, right, I mean they got the yeah exactly. I mean,
don't some high schools do that?
Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
But the the only problem is is that you're gonna
get into that NFL cat that NFL territory, buddy, where
where like where in the NFL the when you would
go up to Pittsburgh, all of a sudden, weird stuff
would start happening into your to your headsets, buddy, weird stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
Yeah, the interference couldn't hear it stuff with staticky you
were coming in and out.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah you could.
Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
You could.
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
Obviously they could play that game.
Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
But uh so Michigan Jim Harball for whatever reasons, maybe
he is, you know, playing it close to the vest.
Maybe he's you know, hanging out in the tree, he's
stalking kids. But he has definitely continue to push the limits.
And again he has said he has no to be fair,
he said he had no idea about this. They're fully
(01:12:15):
cooperating in the investigation, so I do want to be
clear and fair on that. But it's like little things
keep happening around Jim Harbaugh and you don't know if
it's the NDCUAA not liking him, his approach kind of
a blank you approach, you know, do it my way.
But little I don't know if it's because all of
sudden Michigan has become a prominent dominant team again, but
(01:12:35):
they have definitely been on his head now for for
a few years.
Speaker 4 (01:12:39):
Yeah, oh oh, there is an element of because there
are people that say, oh, this is a witch hunt,
all of this stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
It's it's not.
Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
The issue is, though, is that when you give people
reasons to start bothering you.
Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
They will bother you. It's like.
Speaker 4 (01:13:02):
It's like if you are a person who you know,
like if like if you file your taxes, you just
go about your normal life, but then you get on
the internet. The IRS States, the irs, They're they're doing this,
They're not supposed to.
Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
It's not legal. They're doing wrong stuff for our money.
Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
And like, if you go on that type of rant
on social media, what's probably going to happen.
Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
Well, I'm wanna make sure that they if they were
happening to be listening right now, that wasn't me. I
just want to make sure they know that I wasn't
saying that that was an I just want to make
sure only I don't need them on my back. But
you're right, they're gonna start checking in. Hey, we're gonna
let you slide a little bit. We weren't really paying
you no attention. Now we got to pay you a
little attention. What's got autit you? Yeah, we gotta audit
you to see what's going on. Let's check in on
you since you screaming at us like that.
Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
Yeah yeah, let's see if you own deck with with
all your stuff, and and sometimes you unless you have
a legitimate reason, you gotta just chill, bro and and
don't just.
Speaker 3 (01:14:02):
Flagrantly break rules.
Speaker 4 (01:14:05):
Because Jim Jim Harbaugh kind of thumbing his nose up
at the NC double A was one thing, and you
actually had a school rat him out on this one.
Whether you believe it's Ohio State or whether you believe
it's Michigan State, whoever it is, it was flagrant enough
to where with like consider how bad that this has
(01:14:26):
to be because schools break rules, like because the NCAA
has so many like weird rules that shouldn't even be rules,
that this rose to the level of people being like,
all right, even if even if Ohio State tells on
us for something that they know that's better than what's
continuing to go on.
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
Well, listen, we're gonna find out what it is. But
I tell you, if you're Michigan, you better go ahead
and try to win it this year in case something
comes down and mess out.
Speaker 4 (01:14:55):
I want that expedient justice they find it out.
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
Born and raised and arbro I am not trying to
hear that, all right. I want to come back with
the surprise team. So you are fan no no, no,
no no, born and raised and our brother. I can't
express to you how and go blue.
Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
It is for me.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
My wife went to Michigan. Michigan used to pay my bills.
I through some legendary parties on the campus there. Uh huh,
Michigan to me, I'll go get banned for the year.
Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
That stinks.
Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
Yeah, I know, but listen, uh, somebody, let's talk about
teams who we thought was thinking having surprise teams so
far through seven eight weeks and the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
We will do that next.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
George Reister, Kelvin Washington, Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Football Sunday,
Kelvin Washington, George Reister, hanging out with you on this Sunday.
Some good games earlier, some good games happening right now.
Maybe blow through some of these scores in just a minute.
Martin White got you covered. What's trending coming up in
just a little bit as well, broadcasting live from the
tire rack dot Com studios. Tire rack dot Com will
(01:15:52):
help get you there. And I'm Matt Selection fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection. You know, over ten thousand recommended installers,
Tyre the way tire buying should be all right, George,
I said it before the break. Oh, by the way,
Pittsburgh is definitely storming back now. They're up twenty four
to seventeen on the Rams again. Mike Tomlin, no matter,
it just finds a way to win. We'll see if
(01:16:13):
they end up winning this game. But a great second
half for Kenny Pickett ten of eleven, one hundred and
forty five yards, completed his last eight passes. Teams that
surprised you maybe a team, George, you came into the
season and you were saying to yourself, like, man, they
ain't talking about nothing. I have very low expectations for
this team. I don't expect much from them. And now
here we are finding yourself saying, man, they're sitting at
(01:16:36):
maybe they're five hundred, maybe they're play a game above
five hundred, and who's that team for you?
Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
Or a couple teams maybe even.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
Okay, So first thing is, first thing is the Houston Texans.
Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
Not mad at that at all? Huh So I'm not
mad at that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
Yeah, there is not a world where now I did
think that they would be better. I said that they
would be a six win.
Speaker 4 (01:16:59):
Team this year. Now you can say on pace or whatever,
but you can't really because in the NFL you can
drop five six in a row and have started.
Speaker 9 (01:17:12):
So.
Speaker 4 (01:17:12):
But at sitting at three and three, they gotta feel
good about their quarterback. They gotta feel good about their
heading into their bye week. If you had told them
that they would be three and three headed into their
bye week this year, Man, do you know how happy
that team would have been?
Speaker 3 (01:17:26):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
For sure, it would have been like, sign us up, baby,
and our quarterbacks only throwing one pick and he's a rookie,
sign us, where do where do we sign the paper?
Because because we want that, it would have absolutely signed
up for that. And that's where. So them is numero
uno and kind of beyond that, there's nobody I mean,
(01:17:53):
I oh, sorry, excuse me. The Atlanta Falcons. I in
no way, shape form or fashion ever thought that would
be four and three Right now.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
You beat me too. That was gonna be one of mine.
Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
The Atlanta Falcons, the way that they've been able to
do it in a multitude of ways. Again, they don't
have spectacular play from Rider all the time, although he's
had a couple of games. This is a team that
you thought would just, hey, maybe mail it in, and
they're gonna figure it out till they get the guy
somebody they feel more.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
I don't know is ridd Or really the guy?
Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
And here they are, man, As you mentioned four and three,
they keep finding different ways to win. And you look
around Atlanta. The city's even kind of buying into this team.
I've seen some cool stuff they've done during the games, folks,
they brought out to get the crowd hype. So the
Falcons are definitely one of those teams on my list.
We talked about another one earlier a little bit, and
that is the Browns. If you said Deshaun Watson would
(01:18:45):
be healthy and rolling in a BE four and two,
then you'd say, okay, that kind of makes sense. That
they got some players on both sides, especially defensively. One
of the best defensive teams we've seen in last twenty
thirty years right now.
Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
But they're doing it with even PJ.
Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
Walker, Like Martin said it, he was XFL loned a
couple of years back when we thought the XFL was
gonna stick around and then Covid said, no, that ain't happening.
Uh So the Browns are kind of in there where,
you know, even at a close loss a week ago,
so they could be AGNAR five in one. So the
Browns I didn't expect to do this, especially if you
told me they'd have these wins. But it not come
(01:19:20):
because Deshaun Watson's looking like the Houston Texans.
Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
Deshaun Watson, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
I mean not not only has he not been looking
like the Houston Texans. Watson, he' been in the game.
Like That's like, it's not like they're they're they're winning
with him doing average play. They're winning without him.
Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
Right despite him looking awful again today. Uh so, yeah,
the Cleveland rounds for me, I didn't expect that. You
gotta get cludos to the kudos to the Jets who
are trying to hang on and trying to stay in
this thing as well and stay competitive. And again when
you got a defense and you see between the Browns,
you see that as well with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
He keeps you in these games.
Speaker 1 (01:19:57):
All right, top of the hour, we're gonna highlight some
of the best games happening right now. Hanging out with
George and Kelvin on a Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 7 (01:20:04):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
All right, Uh, you know what, George and Kelvin with you. Martin,
you're right, and George too. I gotta put some respect
on James Madison. It's just been you know, how you
lock into something you have that could go to joke
of yours whatever it is, right, you got a man,
it's like such and such and such. I've always used
them as an example because so many teams, you know,
you beat up on them and take advantage of these
these small citadel and these schools like that. And so
(01:20:39):
respect to James Madison, because y'all young'n call me out
about that, and I want to you know, it's somebody
daddy right now, Listen, Who's son is James?
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Respect my boy name.
Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
Put some respect on it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
So respect on it.
Speaker 1 (01:20:49):
And so I want to get to kind of going
back over some of these games from earlier, George, uh,
for those who just hopped in the car or just
put on their earbudds and work AirPods, whatever they're doing.
You got, of course, the Ravens who smacked up on
the Lions. We talked about that extensively. But just a
really good game offensively for Lamar Jackson, obviously the best
for him. He took advantage of a really hurt defensive
(01:21:12):
backfield for the Lions. Lions couldn't get anything going offensively.
Jared Goff threw dag Nar almost sixty passes but still
couldn't get in the end zone. So a big win
for the Ravens. Credit to them for that win. Looking
at some other scores here we talked about the you
got Ritter able to get a win and get sixteen
(01:21:33):
to thirteen, big time field goal at the end. You
got the Falcons beating up on a division rival in
the Bucks. By the way, the Bucks are like a
team too. You kind of didn't know what to expect
this year. They're sitting at five hundred with Baker Mayfield
and on that team. Some other scores by the way,
we haven't talked about because it was days ago, But
you gotta start showing some love for the Jags too,
the Jacksonville Jaguars winning thirty one to twenty four back
(01:21:56):
on Thursday against the Saints. We gotta start with respecting
their name too. Three games in eleven days, that's asking
a whole lot. You played this morning. I just watch y'all.
Three games in eleven days is a whole lot on
physically on the team. Not to mention traveling too, not
the normal traveling traveling across the you know, the the Atlantic,
right leaving with some tea and crumpets in your bag.
(01:22:18):
What else you're taking from London.
Speaker 3 (01:22:19):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
Some fishing chips in your bag. That's about all they got.
The eating game is not great over there.
Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
No, no, no, the the like I like London a
lot as a city, right, but they're uh the food
that is like indigenous to that to to England it
is it is mid but they they do have really
good food from other cultures.
Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
All the Indian The Indian food game is crazy at
the current game Africa yep.
Speaker 4 (01:22:52):
Yeah, but they're fishing chips is spectacular.
Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
Though, I will I will tell you that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
Okay. So here's the thing about fishing chips. Fish and
chips are incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
And Lorena, this actually works perfectly the conversation we were
about to have before James, before Martin called me out
about James Madison, you had brought up. She came in
here and I ain't gonna lie I want to call
somebody out on air, so I kept it to myself
because I didn't want to get nobody. I'm like, and
she got that ship you're drinking. I thought she might
have had a beer and come to find out it's
just root beer. And then you were saying that you
had a root beer at you were getting a burger
(01:23:19):
at the bar or something. You had a root beer, right, yeah,
and then you said you are a massive root beer knnoisewer.
Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
Oh god, yuck.
Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
Now I'm teaming the rain on this. It's delicious.
Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
Beer is delicious, Oh, root beer is a root beer
and coffee like the too way you don't like coffee, No,
I've never had I've never drank a whole cup of
coffee in my life.
Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
Bro Okay, right now, you're starting to sound like the
weird though. Okay, because coffee is delicious. Now, it doesn't
work on me like I would wish you to work
as far as giving me energy and a boost and
all that.
Speaker 2 (01:23:48):
But it is still delicious.
Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
However, back beer, it's awful means I've had.
Speaker 4 (01:23:54):
I've tasted fancy root beer, cheap root beer, root beer floats.
Give me.
Speaker 7 (01:24:01):
You seem like you're coming from a negative perspective, though,
I don't even feel like you're giving root beer a chance.
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
When you try a new one, you know, like you're
saying you're already coming in out of it.
Speaker 7 (01:24:10):
Yeah you're I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:24:12):
I've tried the different spec I've tried an eight dollars
root beer, tried a fifty cent rc root beer and
everything in between, and had them floated, not floated everything else.
Speaker 3 (01:24:25):
And they all think.
Speaker 1 (01:24:26):
First of all, well, I didn't want to make this
a root beer conversation as much as to say to
tell I was just getting ready to tell Lorrainy.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
Because it goes back to the fish and chips.
Speaker 1 (01:24:33):
There's a handful of things in life that I had
the I guess you could say one and it was
wise and great to my life that I found out
about caloric intake. But it also ruined my life because
now the things that I enjoyed, I'm like godly. So
for instance, I love the massive play the fish and chips.
(01:24:53):
Then you look at the calories, You're like, at your
entire allotment for the entire day.
Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
Enjoyed a big old thing of root beer.
Speaker 1 (01:25:02):
You look at the calories of sugar and you're like,
I've ruined my day off of that. Nachos. Who doesn't
like a plate of nachos about two thousand calories? Who
doesn't like a massive, big ol burrito You're looking at about
fifteen seven hundred calories, seventeen hundred calories. There are a
few things in life pastas another thing Pasta's that I
would go somewhere terrible pasta and looking at like twenty
(01:25:23):
two hundred calories. Don't and don't mention you gotta eat
the breid Arena. You gotta eat the bread.
Speaker 7 (01:25:28):
See, I'm not one to eat all of my food,
though I usually have leftovers like a whole nother meal.
Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
Well, I don't like the way you're looking at me
because I feel judgmental. I didn't like the way she's
staring at me. I'm not one of those.
Speaker 4 (01:25:39):
Yeah, I those I don't don't. I don't have that problem. Yes,
I don't pull out a little weight. Okay, I'm getting
ready for the winner. Leave me alone with right, Okay. Anyway,
So that's what ruined my whole.
Speaker 1 (01:25:50):
I don't drink soda unless it's diet, and I don't
eat certain foods anymore or at least very rarely.
Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
Wait, hold, hold a hold on.
Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
So you don't drink soda unless it's diet.
Speaker 3 (01:25:59):
So so you would rather here we go? So you
would rather the fake sugar? Yes, with the processed fake sugar?
Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
Then come on, man, you you you a hustling backwards buddy.
Speaker 1 (01:26:12):
We all listen, we all, we all pardon my lack
of proper grammar. We're all fen to go okay, We're
all gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:26:18):
Go okay, So why you count your calories.
Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
Then, because listen, I still want to be sexy, okay,
and it ain't working right now. Okay, I'm trying to
get my summertime body back. And by the way, the
Chiefs just scored and that we are on Chris left,
You're lucky we're on like ten the tenth shot that
they've just shown Taylor Swift, by the way, So I
just want to make sure you.
Speaker 4 (01:26:37):
Know that I want more.
Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
I want more.
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Okay, what are other people who want more for different reasons?
Speaker 1 (01:26:42):
They all into her in that way, you know, and
you're not into her that way at least, so not no, no.
Speaker 3 (01:26:47):
No, no, absolutely, I would not be choosing Taylor.
Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
Swift now if you had a hall pass, that's not it.
Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
No, hell no, Taylor Swift A right, you gotta laughing
like that.
Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
She could come to the cookout though, all right?
Speaker 1 (01:27:02):
All right, so all right, so that was the reason
why I'm not a team Rubert and Fish and Chips.
But let's move on. So the Jags is what I
was saying. That's why we talking about London. The Jags,
I feel like, are one of those teams again flying
under the radar. You got to give them credit for
able to pull off wins of different continents, coming back
here getting win and able to again be sitting at unhappy.
I'm sure five and two for the for the Jags.
Speaker 4 (01:27:25):
Yes, that is right where I That is right where
I expect them to be. And they've got wins over
the Bills. Granted it was in London, but this is
a team that is headed in.
Speaker 3 (01:27:38):
The right direction.
Speaker 4 (01:27:39):
And they were clearly to me of the teams that
barely made the playoffs last year or where that bro
I looked at that them and you had like the Seahawks, Giants, Jaguars, right,
and I'm sitting here, of all of those teams, Jaguars
were the team that I was convinced with a playoff
(01:28:00):
team this year.
Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
I was like, Seahawks are if he probably not?
Speaker 4 (01:28:05):
And the Giants no chance, absolutely no chance they make
the playoffs. And I said the Cincinnati Bengals weren't going
to make the playoffs either, and people thought I was crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:28:15):
Yeah, I didn't see that one coming. The Giants. Nobody
believed it, not even the Giants believed in that. But
you got to give kudos to some of the Jacks
for fighting in there. By the way, again, it's thirty
one seventeen. The Chiefs are up on the Chargers on
that with about the think I just saw maybe three,
four or five minutes left in that game. But yeah,
some other games you look at Man again. We talked
(01:28:35):
about the Browns able to get a win as well today. Again,
the defense has been going crazy for them all season long,
without a doubt, they've been able to get the job
done there looking out, we want to look at some
other scorers too. You talked about the Giants the Commanders.
You saw that They've already had players come out and say,
I'm sick of this. I'm tired of this. It's been
(01:28:56):
seven years of this, the same old crap. They lose
fourteen to seven in the division to the Giants, the Commanders.
I mean Ron Rivera, you give while you give them
credit for consistency, that his teams always play hard and
they're you know, they're using it, never horrible, They're solid.
There's also an element of all right, I'm sick of
being just solid, you know what I mean? Like I
want to be better than that. I want to be
(01:29:16):
better than just slightly above five hundred. And the Commanders
are seeming to kind of get in that place where
it's like, all right, I've seen this book before. They're solid,
but not good, not great. You wonder how much long
Ron Rivera is going to stick around if they don't
try to get some new young blood and get that
team going in the right direction.
Speaker 4 (01:29:35):
Oh so they were just bought by Josh Harris and
company and Magic and that whole crew. Ron Rivera was
fired before the season started. However, though with a playoff
run or something like like that, he could have earned
his job back, like like he could have forced them
(01:29:56):
not to fire him, going like eleven and six, right,
because how you going fire the eleven and six coach
right right?
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
You know, like that's a I don't know about that fail.
Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
But and with a rookie quarterback, well, with a second
year quarterback who looks pretty good too, Yeah, that would
that would be a tough call, particularly being that that
would mean that they were looking good and looking like
they were moving in the right direction.
Speaker 1 (01:30:22):
Well, they clearly just not. That's not what happened. Obviously,
there's a lot of football to be played. But I
think you're gonna look at the team that's gonna end
up being, you know, just five hundred a game below
or something like that. And it gets to the point
where at some point you feel like they wanted to
just jump ship because maybe it wasn't a horrible season,
but it wasn't a season that got our fans excited.
Uh as they have it, like you said, new ownership,
and listen, Magic Johnson. All I know is the teams
(01:30:45):
that he is a part of. You look at the LAFC.
You look at the Dodgers. Obviously they didn't they had
you know, they didn't have a great postseason, but they
have won the World Championship, They've won ten in divisions
in a row, and.
Speaker 3 (01:30:57):
Win these teams win.
Speaker 1 (01:30:58):
Man, the Lakers have had some now historically and even
now with Lebron Western Conunce finals. I mean, it's like
Magic involved. I feel like I'm missing another team too.
But if Magic gets involved, it's like they expect success
and so he ain't just there to be smiling and
may you know, signing autographs and I know he's not
you know, like the majority owner, but he's a part
of it. And so there's some success, so you expect
(01:31:20):
them to all of a sudden turn around and get
some by the way. Another game that is final, the
Steelers twenty four over seventeen over the Rams. Another team
that just Mike Tomlin finds a way to get it
done beating this Rams seed. They score twenty one in
the second half to get to twenty four to seventeen
victory as well. Can he Pickett throws for two thirty
no touchdown there again defensively, you heard Martin talk about
(01:31:42):
it earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
TJ.
Speaker 1 (01:31:43):
Watt able to get an interception. TJ Watt just continuing
to be one of those things where he's like, man,
what's the best fan? What's the best football family?
Speaker 3 (01:31:50):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (01:31:50):
The Wats?
Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
Is it? The Bosses? Is the man? I mean, you
know you got some of these.
Speaker 1 (01:31:55):
Shoot, you got the Diggs, oh by these football family
Diggs bro sleep on.
Speaker 4 (01:32:00):
The Digs they doing that thing too, Hey, yeh. Do
you know what's funny is that nobody ever mentions them.
And I'm glad that you did, because now, yeah, that
that gotta be in there.
Speaker 2 (01:32:11):
Did you gotta start mentioning the Digs in there?
Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
As well? Meggs?
Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
This Yeah, the digs is IS is doing the thing, So
we'll get you updated on some scores and what's happening next.
We got some conversations to be had with Adam Kaplan,
who is going to join us next, to break down
some of the things we've seen in the earlier games,
the games that are happening now there's winding down and
also getting ready for Sunday Night and Monday Night football
(01:32:34):
as well. Adam Kaplan gonna be joining us next. Thank
you for listening. George Reister, Kelvin Washington, Fox Football Sunday,
all right, all right, I'm still not convinced that's rub
Beard away you acting rain?
Speaker 3 (01:32:44):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:32:45):
Fox, Fox Football Sunday, Kevin Washington.
Speaker 1 (01:32:47):
George Reister, hanging out with the broadcasting line from the
tyrack dot Com studios. Join now by Adam Kaplan, Fox
Sports Radio, NFL Insider inside the Birds Podcast. You can
find them on x form known as Twitter, Kaplan n
f L. Adam, appreciate you being here with us, man
taking some time out to talk some earlier games, obviously
(01:33:09):
getting ready for big Sunday Night football game as well.
I'm want to start with uh, I'm gonna start with
what we're just watching this watch right here, which is
the Chargers fall to Oh, we don't mean, may not
have Adam. I was spitting bars to Adam and he
wasn't there. Well, then, George, pretending pretend your name was Adam.
Pretend you pretend your name was Adam, George, and I'll
(01:33:32):
just spit these same bars to you. So we just
get the conclusion of this, uh, this Chiefs Chargers game.
And minute ago we were having the Brandon Stay conversation.
I said, well, let's say he loses. Blah blah blah blah. Well,
now we know it's final. They lose. Uh, And and
here we are again with a Chargers team that a
lot of expectations. Again, there's a lot of football to
(01:33:54):
be had and to still be played. But now they
fall again to a team that, again nobody expected. I mean,
the Chiefs are the Chiefs, They're the best team for
the last five years or so whatever, but they can't
sneak it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
Eventually.
Speaker 1 (01:34:07):
You gotta beat that rival, right, you gotta beat that foe,
you gotta beat that giant that sits in front of you.
Speaker 3 (01:34:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:34:13):
And they weren't able to do that, And here they
are falling again, uh, and not being able to get
gain a win that you hope they would win that
would bowl well for this team.
Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
What do we make of this team?
Speaker 1 (01:34:24):
Man, this Chargers team that keeps continuing to underperform or
maybe at this point we should just the same performance
as they do.
Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
Are they underperforming?
Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
I mean you would think with the roster that they
have that they would be underperforming. But there's one common
denominator with this team, and that I know a lot
of people want to blame Herbert. They would to be
to this defense is bad.
Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
Yeah, And that was the part you could kind of
hang your hat.
Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
You thought you'd say, James Bosa and all these guys,
you'd be, oh, man, the defense is gonna be h
be solid.
Speaker 2 (01:34:58):
And that's not the case at all.
Speaker 4 (01:35:00):
Off, listen to these numbers, bro, they get they getting
thirty four, twenty seven, twenty four, a nice seventeen against
the lowly Raiders, twenty against the Cowboys, and then today
they over here getting the doors beat in, Like, come on, man,
(01:35:21):
that's not gonna cut it, brother, No.
Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
And then you look at Brandon States.
Speaker 3 (01:35:26):
He's supposed to be a defensive minded head coach.
Speaker 1 (01:35:28):
Yeah, he can't be having a. That's the thing when
you're bad, when you're a coach and your team is
performing poorly, you kind of want to hang onto something like, Okay, well,
I'm a defensive minded coach. The offense is slow, but hey,
at least the defense is doing this thing because I
can say, hey, I'm here, y'all know what I do.
You know we're gonna slowly work this offense. It's like, dude,
you're the defensive coach. This is why you're here. And
(01:35:49):
even overall we're not winning. He's a game or two
above five hundred with a team that many over the
last few seasons had as a sneaky, you know, sneaky
pick to the possibly at least playoffs obviously, but maybe
even possibly Super Bowl. Adam Kaplan is joining us now, Adam,
I was just spitting bars to George.
Speaker 2 (01:36:06):
I thought I was talking to He was kind of
a funny moment, but.
Speaker 1 (01:36:09):
I'll go I was like, and HadAM going in and
in They're like, that's still George.
Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
I repeat what I was just talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
Here.
Speaker 1 (01:36:17):
The Chargers, we're here in Los Angeles, and not that
they have some crazy buzz, but the fact is, you think, hey,
all right, the Chargers. You got Justin Herbert, and we
know when you have one of those types of quarterbacks,
it usually bots well for you, right, and you have
these seasons that you're proud of, you're happy of, and
they keep falling short, they lose close games, whether it
be coaching, backclock management. Maybe early on it was just
(01:36:40):
maybe the inexperience of the youth of Justin Herbert. Well,
now here we are, man where again they fall to
the Chiefs, and you wouldn't necessarily fault them for falling
to the Chiefs. They are the Chiefs, but you can't
fall to them and become two and four. Where are
we now with the Chargers where we were Brandon Staley,
Where again, this is a team that people had high
hopes were once to get again.
Speaker 9 (01:37:00):
Yeah, no doubt back. I would tell you spending two
days with them in training camp, this team's clearly and
in achieving. They should be better. Brandon Stale, he's been
given everything he wanted. He brought he wanted Khalil Mack,
who he coached in Chicago, got him. They brought an
Eric Kendricks formerly the Vikings. They won another inside linebacker,
they got him. They made a trade for jac Jackson
last year before he got hurt, which was a devastating injury.
(01:37:24):
He had the talent tenant injury. He did not play well.
He just got traded a couple of weeks ago back
to the pages where it all started for him, and
it's been a dis answer. Look at remember they changed
offensive coordinators now Austin Eckler missed time. He missed several
games with a significant ancle injury, and that certainly hurt
their offense. Tellim Moore is a pretty sharp guy, but
(01:37:44):
it hasn't happened yet for their offense. But the biggest
disciplinement is their defense. I'm just I'm surprised that they're
as bad as they've been. They've not been very competitive.
The expectations were greater. Let's call it like it is,
so there's no question about there's supposed to be way better.
I know it's only six games in the last couple
of wild cards are still wide open the AFC, but
they've not convinced competitive as most real thought they would be.
Speaker 4 (01:38:07):
Oh now speaking about a team that wasn't competitive, but
now they seem to be competitive. That is the New
York Giants ever since Daniel Jones has been out of
his lineup. They look a lot better. I mean, if
you're the Giants, what can you do here for the
next two years before you can get up from underneath
this contract? And is Tyrod Taylor the answer for the
(01:38:29):
rest of the year.
Speaker 9 (01:38:30):
No, Daniel Jones would be the starter when he's healthy.
The problem is he wasn't cleared. He wanted to play,
he was close, but they didn't clear him.
Speaker 7 (01:38:38):
The Tyrod did the best that he could.
Speaker 9 (01:38:40):
Look, family scored fourteen points. Let's not go crazy. Their defense,
it had been terlerible up to two weeks ago, was
terrific against Buffalo, as you know what happened with the
last play the game. That Buffalo game, they really should
have won on offense. Then today, look their defense product.
They were very aggressive. Get Sam Howell. Sam Howard played
pretty well this season, but this game he did not
play well. I give with one nail all the credit there.
(01:39:01):
He did a great job. At least they got that done.
You know they're down three offensive linemen that the Giants
are both tackles under center. You can't compete like that
on offense, I guess, said Colon Barkley. Credit come back
for that left arm injury which he suffered early in
the game. Is he able to come back? He really
helped them. They're just fuck they're struggling on an offense.
And by the way, scoring I don't know if you're
ware of this. It's still down about four four and
(01:39:23):
a half points per game. It's a lot of zone coverages.
Teams are not going to let you throw it over
the top. You got it, throw the ball over the middle,
check it to the tight ends.
Speaker 4 (01:39:32):
George.
Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
Yeah, Well, I tell you what you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
Somebody who was able to score today, and that is
the Baltimore Ravens thirty eight to six. They smack up
the Detroit Lions, a game where folks were saying, you know,
oh man, could this be some type of maybe super Bowl,
you know, team matchup or you know, or this is
a great statement for the Lions being a good AFC
team in the Ravens and that was not the case
at all. I go to this game, Adam, I ask you,
(01:39:57):
is this in And we talked about it earlier, George
and I more of a just hey, wash your hands
clean of it. If you're Detroit, not a big deal.
It happens. Everybody gets smacked up once or twice throughout
the season. Or is it tell you more about the Ravens.
Maybe we've slept on them, we haven't talked about them.
Maybe got Lamar's back and healthy as opposed to last season,
and we need to kind of look at the Ravens more.
Speaker 9 (01:40:17):
Well, it's both, So let's get to the lot of
the Lamar Jackson's tremendous today and the passing numbers have
up in there this season. They've had major offensive line injuries.
All those guys are back now. Ronnie Stanley at a
great game at left tackle. They've had receiver injuries. Obj's back,
he's been back down for two games. Pretty healthy. He's
going to see Mark Anders involved today. They've got a
way to run the football that look there. They've got
(01:40:39):
it going on right now. Their secondary's got healthier. This
is probably the healthiest they've been. They were without Marcus Williams.
It was their best safety, but that was pretty much
it they and you know what, let's get to Detroit
and Dan Tambill said it, well, they probably needed the
game like this. All the hype that the Lions have
been getting cheese. I called them an lead team back
in May and look at they're going to be really good.
(01:41:00):
They have a chance to make a run to the playoffs,
and they've got some injury issues. One of the corners,
Jerry Jacobs, got hurt during the walk through. They woud
up not playing Brian Branchris came back from his Zacho
injury or second round pick out of Alabama. You know,
they're a team that's got to do something at corner.
That's probably something at the trade deadline they need to
look at, which is coming up a week from this Tuesday.
But yeah, overall, look, the lines are a good football team.
(01:41:22):
And don't forget folks, it's it's a non conference game.
These are tough sometimes teams to simply don't bring at
these non conference games.
Speaker 4 (01:41:30):
And it probably sounds like I'm looking for drama here,
but the Cleveland Browns, who won back to back games
with p J.
Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
Walker, don't do it.
Speaker 4 (01:41:42):
No hold up, hold up. I know that there are
financial implications where that would never be the case. But
how are the Browns feeling about Watson just in general
with the with the injury, his play and everything in between, Well.
Speaker 9 (01:41:58):
Things are actually progressing. It before he hurt his right
shoulder and The problem is because the sotness heat. By
the way I know, and from what I'm told, he
threw well on Friday's practice before he reinjured the shoulder. Today, folks,
see if it look right. I don't know if you
saw the throws that he did attempt, they were way
off short, no juice, no philosophy, And they're going to
re examine him tomorrow. He'll get reassessed. It's look, I
(01:42:21):
give him all the credit. That was an unbelievable game today.
It's it's one of these games. If you didn't see,
it's hard to describe. So many things went on. The
craziness Miles Garwar is unbelievable. Today they had some just
some crazy game and Gardner Minshew played really well. But
overall the Colts unfortunate, some really bad penalties late. I
(01:42:41):
know Colts fans are up at arms saying they're chickie tack.
But the bottom line is what happened happened. But the
Browns have a problem with quarterback PJ. Walker. As a journeyman,
it's really you'd like to be your third quarterback at
your second. But this league, folks, is got a problem
with backup quarterbacks are just not enough good ones and
the Browns. Look, the Browns have to feel fortunate the defense,
(01:43:03):
which have played lights out before today's game, they just
didn't get it done. A lot of undisciplined play in
their secondary.
Speaker 1 (01:43:11):
Yeah, the defense have been their backbone for sure. Adam
Kaplan with his last one for me, we're just trying
to push forward to Sunday night. You got the Eagles
and the Dolphins bolting's five to one and both offensives.
You talk about the league has been a little slower
when it comes to offense this year. Not the case
of these two as they're one and two and a
lot of statistics. What do you look forward into this game?
Is it the Eagles bouncing back, the Dolphins continuing to
(01:43:34):
just show folks that this might be really their best sport?
Will be a track teams to go put for the
four x four the track team in this game, and
maybe who needs it more?
Speaker 9 (01:43:44):
Wow, should be high scoring folks. First on, Now, this
is a big one. This just came out. Xavier and Howard,
the Dolphins' best corner is out today. They thought he
could play one up. Not working out. He's going as
an issue, so he's not playing tonight. In fact, they
thought not only did they think he's playing, they didn't
even add it a corner off the practice squad yesterday.
So they're hurting. Remember, Jalen Ramsey's not ready yet coming
(01:44:04):
off of the menisca surgery, so they got a problem.
The weather's going to be about fifty tonight in Philly
where I am. The win is moderate. The Eagles secondary's
banged up. Both starting safeties are out tonight for the Eagles,
the nickel corners out vati Maddox. So to answer question
super high scoring, now I know Howard's out for the Dolphins,
I would surely lean now towards the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:44:26):
I want to go over to Buffalo for a second,
because there was some talk about, oh, Justin Herbert can
heat carry a team and all this stuff, and the
Bills are kind of floundering. I know that they've been
beat up on defense, but what are we supposed to
make out of Josh Allen, who's been up and down
and this team this year.
Speaker 9 (01:44:46):
Yeah, it's another Josh Allen game where it looks like
he's got it going on and they couldn't convert. You
mentioned the defense. Both starting defensive tackles out, their best
corners out for the season, Drew Davius White. They're just
not playing great defense as well. They're hanging and in there,
but the pass rushers and what it once was. They
got to get Von Miller back up to speed or
he's playing, but he's not quite where he was for
(01:45:07):
the ACL injury. This is something missing from this team
and they should have won that game today. And I
give back Jones credit. He played a lot better today.
I'm gonna give it his team a chance, but they're
undermanned the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (01:45:20):
That you know.
Speaker 9 (01:45:20):
One thing I need and need to point out this
is the first time all season that they have their
starting offensive lineback and that certainly showed up today.
Speaker 2 (01:45:28):
Well you saw it able to get a win there
for them, Adam, We appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:45:32):
Enjoy the game tonight. Should be a good one, like
you said, should be a lot of scoring. Hopefully that
is the case. What folks will enjoy it. Thank you
so much. All right, hit him up Kaplin NFL on
Twitter or x formerly known as Twitter. Right now, we're
gonna check in what's trending. He's been a fun today
in the NFL. Some surprises, some good scores as well.
Martin White's gonna get you straight.
Speaker 5 (01:45:53):
You know, first of all, I respect your dedication to
calling it X, but it's Twitter, bro, let it go.
Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
Thanks.
Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
I'm just trying to be with his profession out here
in these streets.
Speaker 4 (01:46:02):
So we all know what it is.
Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
It's Twitter all right now.
Speaker 5 (01:46:06):
In the world of the NFL, the early games done
for right now, we're still waiting on the Eagles and
the Dolphins to take the field. And you know what,
Julio Jones active for that game for the Eagles. Chase
Claypool active for that game for the Dolphins. There you go,
Chase Laypool, by the way, playing wide receiver, not tight end.
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
All right.
Speaker 5 (01:46:24):
The Broncos beat the Packers nineteen to seventeen, Jordan Love
through a late interception that crushed the Packers come back
at Timper in the second half. He's now sitting at
eight touchdowns six interceptions on the season. Kareem Jackson ejected
from this one. That's five weeks in a row. Now
that Kareem Jackson has received the unnecessary roughness penalty up
until this point fined eighty nine thousand, six seventy dollars,
(01:46:46):
So you imagine that number will increase, and when he
gets a letter in the veil, that's a lot of money, George.
Speaker 2 (01:46:52):
Ain't nobody got time for that. Yeah, he's at this point.
Speaker 5 (01:46:56):
You figure you might have played a game check for free.
Chiefs beat the yards thirty one to seventeen. Mahomes had
four hundred and twenty four passing yards, four touchdowns. They
pushed this stat up there, George, this is for you.
I did this just for you, all right. They put
this on the game broadcast. Travis Kelsey with Taylor Swift
and attendance averages one hundred yards a.
Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
Game, just about ninety nine.
Speaker 5 (01:47:16):
Quote left to his own devices, only forty six and
a half yards a game tonight twelve catches and one
hundred and seventy nine yards and a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:47:25):
Hey, she needs the heat on my fantasy team. Show
up every week, Taylor. Come on, Taylor, we need you.
Speaker 1 (01:47:32):
That's like everybody knows when you bring you go play
pick up ball with your homie and these girl called
one hundred gonna be.
Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
Out there looking like Steph Curry.
Speaker 3 (01:47:38):
I just wonder what else she has to do on
Sunday afternoons.
Speaker 5 (01:47:41):
International superstar or just big football fan I suppose anyway
back to the business. Seahawks beat the Cardinals twenty to ten.
Rams beat the Steelers. Yeah, Steelers beat the Rams rather
twenty four to seventeen. It was an iffy spot in
that game that helped the Steelers ice the game, and
Rams kicker Bred Maher also helped the Steelers ice the game.
He missed two field goals an extra point. Bears beat
the Raiders earlier today thirty to twelve. Ravens beat the
(01:48:03):
Lions thirty eight to six, Browns beat the Colts thirty
nine to thirty eight. Patriots upset the Bills. Bill Belichick
gets his three hundredth career win. The final score there
twenty nine to twenty five. And you know you're just
talking about Magic Johnson, right. He tweeted about this, and
I think it pretty much sums it up. Quote disappointing
fourteen to seven loss from my Commanders to the NY Giants.
(01:48:23):
It's hard to win the NFL when you only score
seven points. Thanks thanks for winning in Magic. Thanks Magic, appreciate.
Speaker 3 (01:48:30):
It, dude.
Speaker 4 (01:48:31):
His tweets are always another news.
Speaker 5 (01:48:35):
Water is wet exactly. And the Falcons, of course kicked
the game winning field goal. To beat the Buccaneers sixteen
to thirteen. Georgia Calvin back to you, no, listen, thank
you Martin.
Speaker 1 (01:48:46):
First of all, that's the news in me, by the way,
that's that I keep saying, uh, formerly known as Twitter.
You know, I just think that's the news in me
having to because I get it, Yeah, get it. But
yet I'm are you right?
Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
I picked on some of your tit.
Speaker 4 (01:48:58):
I've beeaped some of your ten sees today because you
are very newsy.
Speaker 3 (01:49:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:49:02):
I mean, listen, man, I'm just trying to get sure
you got your status.
Speaker 3 (01:49:04):
You are you are professional.
Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
Listen, man, you know I mean you know, I'm trying
to do what I can do when I can do it.
Speaker 3 (01:49:09):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:49:09):
Uh however, yes, uh, get back to some of these
scores real quick before we take a quick break and
get you the plays of the game. Uh, I want
to go back to some of the game that folks
are tweeting us. By the way, George Reister caterb live
for myself. We got Paul who said the Rams dominated
as Steelers and every stat and lost because of a
lowly kicker. Reister might be auditioning for a new kicker.
(01:49:32):
On Monday morning, I didn't know you had a leg?
Speaker 4 (01:49:34):
Bro?
Speaker 3 (01:49:34):
Did I know you had a leg?
Speaker 1 (01:49:35):
I mean, you know, i'd've been around you one hundred
million times and semi athletic events.
Speaker 3 (01:49:40):
The answer is no.
Speaker 1 (01:49:41):
Okay, just making sure I didn't miss something. Did you like,
did you ever play soccer as a kid or something?
Speaker 3 (01:49:49):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
Bro, No, my kids have never played soccer. Really well,
actually sorry, I have one. I have one kid who's
playing soccer right now. First kid ever play soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:50:00):
How'd you pull that off?
Speaker 3 (01:50:02):
Okay? When when I was a young dad, I didn't think.
Speaker 4 (01:50:05):
I was like, yo, y'all are gonna be too big
to play soccer, so why are we wasting our time?
And it wasn't like so when they were four or five,
they all started playing baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
And I don't know how you pull that off.
Speaker 1 (01:50:18):
I feel like I feel like like the minute you
have a child, they send you home with like diapers
and wipes, and then like a registration for soccer.
Speaker 4 (01:50:27):
Nope, nope, never, what was it ever even considered? The
kids had no desire to even try it. They just
got put in baseball first, and then they gravitated to
basketball and football and and and then after that, after
you get a little bit older. They're like, this is
(01:50:47):
not enough score scoring for me. This isn't fun. But
now that soccer is growing in the United States, you
know there and soccer wants this some of your best
athletes to two places. Soccer and my jeans just so
happened to be that of great, great athletes. So you know,
so this younger one has a shot.
Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
Did you see why somebody blue face is trending today?
Speaker 3 (01:51:14):
Oh good? Can anybody see that?
Speaker 4 (01:51:16):
If blueflate, If blue face is trending, it is for
some idiocy?
Speaker 3 (01:51:21):
Guarantee it?
Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
No, uh yes, so, uh yes.
Speaker 3 (01:51:26):
It's not for any idiots. He on, No, it is.
Speaker 1 (01:51:29):

you're right, George. No, it's not that for Lorena guaranteed.

of minutes left, man, what do you want to see tonight?
With your Philadelphia Eagles. You got the Dolphins both five
(01:58:13):
and one, both one and two, and many offensive categories.
Speaker 2 (01:58:17):
What do you want to see?
Speaker 4 (01:58:18):
I want to say Eagles victory tonight, I do, but
but I want I also want to see if the Patriots,
I'm not the Patriots, the Dolphins can actually play some
good defense. Because last week the Philadelphia Eagles took their
first loss because they didn't run the football in the
(01:58:38):
end of the game, got a little too pass happy.
Think that that's where they go back to the dram
book and they'll be like, uh DeAndre Swift twenty carries,
twenty five carries game, will you get ten to two
and Hurtz will get about eight and then the run
and then the pass game will open up. I think
that this is a game that Philadelphia opens up and
(01:58:59):
wins by more than a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:59:01):
Well, I hope it's an entertaining one for sure. Kind
of lives up to the hype. But one of the
things you just mentioned, and I think if you're the Eagles,
you have to do because we talked about it earlier,
sometimes keeping your defense out there too much is you know,
asking too much of them, And if they got to
be in a track meet all day, running around with
this ridiculous speed that the Dolphins have. I think that
obviously doesn't bowl well. So if you can run the ball,
(01:59:22):
run the ball with swift, running ball with running backs
as well as Jalen Hurts, then do just that right,
Eat up some of this clock, make it where you can,
you know, push them around, bulldoze them, bully them, and
I think that'll bolt well for them. I do expect
them to win, as you mentioned, maybe not like double
digits or a couple of scores, maybe about a touchdown
or three points, but it should be a good one.
(01:59:43):
Enjoy doing show with you, brother. We got to do
it again soon. Enjoy the game, folks. George Reich or
Kevin Washington, Fox Sports Sunday,
