Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh what is going on?

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Good Saturday morning to you, Brian Noan Jared Smith with
you this morning? Man, No rich Ornberger. Let's rip the
band aid off right away, Jared, you know, no rich Orenberger.
Today we got a lot of great stuff to get into. Huh.
We got football, of course on the menu. NBA playoffs.
We've got some golf stuff going on, with Scottie Scheffler

(00:29):
being arrested yesterday in the shooting five underbar. That was
crazy craziness. But we begin with the NBA playoffs here.
What's going on with your Nicks? Jeered Smith? I feel
like I need to give you the floor past the
baton to you for the anchor leg of the four
by one hundred meter dash. You know, so you have

(00:49):
you have them losing Game six by thirteen points.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
It really didn't even feel that close. No, it didn't.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Jalen Brunton off to a bad start in the first
to have only scored five points. Josh Hart was hurt,
has some sort of abdominal soreness that he's dealing with.
Did not look like himself at all. Game seven is tomorrow.
Quick turnaround Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon game. And so the Knicks,

(01:17):
who are the walking wounded, quick turnaround in game seven,
that's not ideal for them. But what do you what
do you think about going into game seven for your
your New York Knicks here?

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I think the garden is kind of the great equalizer.
It was obvious last night. And and I'll be honest,
I really thought the extra day of rass right, And
I think the NBA did this to stagger the last
few games of these important series.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Right now we get we get a game.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Six tonight in another series, and in a game seven
two game sevens tomorrow, and so we.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Kind of get this back and forth.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
And I thought that extra day was really gonna help
the Knicks because they didn't play until, you know, earlier
in the week on Tuesday, and then they got, you know,
Friday's game six. So I thought that was going to
be an important extra day. But maybe Josh Harten needed
an extra week or maybe an extra month. I mean,
the dude's played so many minutes and it looked like

(02:16):
it finally caught up with him last night. Of course,
last one night was the night I was like, oh yeah,
extra day of rest, go over on all the points
of the rebounds and the assists. For Josh hart it's
gonna be a great bet that did not work out well.
It was obvious very early in the game that he
was fighting something, and I don't know what was going
on with Jalen Brunson last night. It just kind of
looked like the intensity level that the Knicks usually play

(02:39):
with Brian was maybe like a seven and a half,
and when you go on the road in the playoffs,
it needs to be a freaking eleven out a ten.
So I think they will feed off of some of
the energy in the garden tomorrow. I think that will
be kind of like a natural lubricant for them to
get going. But let's be honest, at the end of
the day, Jalen Brunson can't shoot forty percent from the

(02:59):
floor like Isaiah Hartenstein can't be held to seven rebounds
like he needs to be a double double machine. And
Brunson needs to be the scorer and need to get
thirty one points, but he needs to be much more effective,
much more efficient, And they have to be healthy because
when you make this rotation, which is already paper thin,
you know, you take Josh Hart off who's like the
Iron Man. It's just they kind of lose their heart

(03:23):
and soul. So I'm confident still, Brian, but I'm not
as confident as I was twenty four hours ago because I.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Really thought that extra day was going to help him
in Indiana. Yeah, no, I hear you.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
And that's the thing is, I know you're not pointing
the finger at TIBs, but a lot of people are.
Tom Thibodeaux, head coach of the Knicks, he plays his
starters major minutes. This has been largely the knock on
him over the years. I'm not one of these people
that bashes TIBs by the way he plays his guys
many minutes, right, And I think that, sure, some of

(03:55):
his guys can be taxed, right, they can be tired
at times, but there is a plus side because they battle.
Like Tibbs's fingerprints are all over just this Knicks culture.
It feels like we only say heat culture. That's the
only tame that we say culture with. But there's certainly
a Nicks culture. There is a vibe, there is a

(04:18):
feeling they are absolute grinders over there, and that traces
directly back to Tibbs's approach.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
So I don't think that playing.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Your starter's major minutes is a drawback all across the board,
but a lot of people make it sound like that,
and I love this. I grabbed some audio right before
the show today, Oh Jared, because they got the Knicks
got blown out in game six last night, but stan
Van Gundy went on an epic rant at the end
of Game five. Right the Knicks won Game five by

(04:49):
thirty points, and stan Van Gundy on TNT he had
a message for everybody who's been bashing Tibbs because he's
been playing his starter's major minutes.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Call the top about Tom Thibodeau playing his guys too
many minutes has been absurd.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Anyway, everybody plays big minutes in the playoffs. If I
look back today, because they were going to be in
the studio, Vince Carter two thousand, two thousand and one
played forty five minutes a game in the playoffs. Did
the same thing in two thousand and four, two thousand
and five. In twy eighteen nineteen, the last seven games

(05:29):
for the Warriors in the playoffs, Draymond Green played over
forty minutes seven straight times.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Listen, everybody, every year.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
The best players played big minutes in the playoffs. For
some reason, people want to jump on Tom Thibodeah. Look,
the Dallas Mavericks are playing an injured Luca Donshul's forty
one minutes a night, Kyrie Irving forty one minutes a night.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
And they're at full health.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
The Knicks are missing three starters, another rotation player in Bogdanaville.
This has been the most ridiculous talk of the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
You saw the Knicks tonight.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Does this look like the team that is worn out,
that is finished, that has nothing else to yield?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Not even I love the rant, and I love the
reaction from Brian Anderson, who was unplayed by play that game.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
As k D would say, stand spending the night. Yeah,
I missed that part of it.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
That's I did hear the rant, but I agree one
hundred it's it's it's ridiculous. It's the playoffs, guys, what
do you want them to sit?

Speaker 6 (06:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:37):
What's the rotation gonna look like? Exactly? With everybody be
the stands and play. Yeah there's nobody left.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, you've got like he said Julius Randall og Ananobi
Mitchell Robinson, those are starters who are all out right now. Okay,
and boy on Bogdanovic, who's nicked up. Look, Julius Randall
hurt his shoulder. That's not a thing, you know what
I mean? Like, not every injury directly traces back to TIBs.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
It drives me crazy.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
You could, okay, certain injuries if you look at og
Nanobi the hamstring injury, Okay, that's an injury that you
could say, hey, hey, the workload, I don't know, right, yeah,
but they may be injured though he was earlier this
that's right, two months.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Absolutely, that's right.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
But at least that's an injury you could say, I
don't know the major minutes, So you can't say that
about a shoulder injury. And it drives me crazy. No
one takes that into account when they're bashing TIBs. I
just think it's over the top. I don't blame them
for this stuff at all.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Totally agree.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
And I listen, guys, you think these guys want to
be off the floor like Jalen Bronson does not want
to leave the floor like Josh Hart. These guys want
to play. That's why they've made it to this point.
They've made it to the point. They've made it to
because they buy into what Tibbs is selling. And let's
be honest, it is a UNI brand of basketball, not

(08:02):
it's not for everybody. Just like when you you know,
pick your workout routine. Some people like to go on
you know, the elliptical, which is a little more of
a relaxing experience. Some people, like like me recently, like
to go outside in one hundred degree heat and run
up a hill in the desert because they're trying to
get in shape. It's it's intense, it's not fun, but

(08:23):
they've chosen that path everyone who has made it to
this point. And and Julius Randol has history of being
hurt too, Like these are guys and the NBA in general.
I mean, look at the injury load management problem we're having.
Like it's not just Tibbs guys, this is a league
wide thing. Kawhi Leonard, I mean it I can go
like the list goes on and on. So I just

(08:44):
think there is a bias against certain coaches and certain
schemes because we need something to talk about, and this
is the hot button topic right now because it's in
our face.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
It's obvious, it's recent. Recency. Bias is a hell of
a drug in the sports talk space.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
So I just think the Knicks will go home, they'll
win Game seven, They'll get over the hump, They'll will
themselves to a victory because, let's be honest.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
They are the better team in this series.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
They've just kind of been hamstrung, pun intended by some
of this stuff. And then they'll Boston'll He'll do what
Boston will probably do and sleepwalk through the series and
be able to win because they're the deeper, better team.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
So I don't think it matters frankly who wins this series.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
I hope it's the Dicks, but the Celtics are going
I mean, they're like a minus one thousand favorite to
go to the finals. It's crazy. But at the end
of the day, Tibbs is gonna do what TIBs is
gonna do. This is why the Knicks hired them. They
believe in them, The team believes in them, and I
don't think there's gonna be a quit. There's no quit
in this team. They will literally put the hot dog
guy on the floor if they have to tomorrow, and

(09:49):
I think they will figure out a way to get
across the finish line.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Yeah, this is uh, hey, man, it's just an unfortunate situation.
They're this banged up. But I think that once you
gain a reputation, it's hard to lose it. And Tibbs
gained a reputation a long time ago for playing his
guys major minutes. I think a lot of his traces
back many years ago Jared when Derrick Rose was with

(10:13):
the Bulls and tore his acl in the playoffs early
against the Sixers, And I think that Tibbs got branded
then and it just never really left.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
But look, man, he's not the only guy.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
If you look at ogn Nanobi when he was with
the Raptors, you look at the Raptors guys when Nick
Nurse was there, Jared, those guys were playing huge minutes.
Pascal Siakam van Vliet, those guys are playing heavy minutes.
But it's like Nick Nurse was never branded as the
guy who He's playing his guys way too many minutes.

(10:47):
It's been at Tibbs thing. I think it's been blown
out of proportion. I have a mini ran though not
quite Stan van Gundy esque. But oh, I was just
thinking about this last night. I missed Jeff van Gundy
and Jackson. They were tremendous. And look, Doris brook I
love her. I think she does a great job. JJ

(11:08):
Reddick absolutely knows his stuff. But it was so much
more fun with a Jeff and Mark Jackson.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
It'd be like an NBA Finals.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Game going on, and they would talk about the most
random topics. They would go off on some tangent about
haircuts in general or whatever.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
It was hilarious.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
It was probably the closest thing we've gotten to the
TNT studio crew doing a game. You know, that's the
closest we have gotten to it. OOLM surprised they never
tried to do that. Yeah, they've dabbled with that. I
remember Barkley doing a couple of games here.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Remember that.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, remember Barkley or Shack ever doing a game? Yeah,
I remember. Gosh, this is be good.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Though.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
I think they should do like a simulcast where they're
in the studio and they're doing it and they're talking
over it. Yeah, that'd be fun, like for the regular season.
I mean, I know they might not keep the NBA, but.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah, it was weird because I don't think they can
go full TNT inside the NBA. Yeah, during a game,
I don't know it just feels so different, right, agreed,
But man, I remember years ago. I think it was
still with the Heatles, I want to say, but they
were missing everybody, and I loaded up on like the

(12:25):
how was it? Maybe it was the other way around,
the Atlanta Hawks were missing all their guys or something
like that. I loaded up on Miami and Miami lost.
That happens all the time in the NBA during the
regular season.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
You know. You know what's funny is like the regular
season discourse we talk about is these guys aren't playing
off play more, right, and now we get to the playoffs,
like no, no, don't stop playing.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah, that's so weird, right, it's a good point. Hilarious.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
You know, at the end of Jemi and Gundhy, remember
this at the end of Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson,
where there was so much negativity, where these guys and
Jeff Van Gundy so negative, He's always ranting about old
diner giving back soup. Man, it was so much more fun.
I found the rants hilarious half the time. I just

(13:14):
I missed those guys. They did a phenomenal job.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
We get two game sevens tomorrow and I've been so
I've been really critical of the NBA postseason the last
couple of weeks because, let's be honest, a lot of
these games are not fun. Meanwhile, we got multiple overtimes
in Dallas, Colorado hockey postseason Rangers scoring three goals in
the fourth period or in the third period to win
that game. So I do think tomorrow is gonna be

(13:40):
I hope, I hope we get to just.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Knock down drag out games.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
I noticed the total in this teowl's Nuggets game tomorrow
is super low, like sub two hundred low. Yep, you're
paying the game seven tacks there, totally a little bit
higher than Nick Pacers game.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Historically you get unders in game seven Evans.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
But I just hope we get two close games because
let's be honest, this postseason, the two Wolves, the entire postseason,
Brian have not played a game decided by less than
six points. Like it's just everything is kind of of
a stretcher legs two possession plus kind of vibe.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
And then some of them are like twenty.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Possession pluses like we saw the other night with the
Denver Nuggets game. But I hope we get two elite
and frankly today with thunder Mavericks three elite matchups this
weekend to kind of get us into the right frame
of mind for the conference finals, because I don't think
there's gonna be a whole lot of drama in the East.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
The West.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
There will be, and you know, we'll see if we
get a challenger that can make Boston sweat a little
bit on the other side of the bracket.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, I've got some thoughts on the blowouts in the playoffs.
We'll circle back to that this hour, because I find
that to be pretty interesting. There have been a lot
of blowouts. There have been some close games also, but
it feels like the close games get lost in the shuffle.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Yeah, we're just like another blowout already, right Like, So.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
We'll circle back to that because I think that is interesting. Hey,
Thoroughbred Racing has a new independent regulator. It's HAISA. That's right,
that is implementing comprehensive reforms and the sport is combining

I'm Brian No, No, Rich Hornberger today.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
You know we will carry on.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Not everything is Oh no, it's kind of like the Knicks,
you know, yeah, perfect comparison. Someone's injured, Right, what are
you gonna do? You're gonna say we're not gonna show
up for Game seven?

Speaker 3 (15:44):
No?

Speaker 1 (15:44):
You press forward?

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Right?

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Chayror is Rich yog or Randall?

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I would Randall right, Yeah, he's more of a Randal,
very skilled, you know, outside shooting, versatile, gives you some
rebounding as well, some toughness.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Yeah, that's Rich right there.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Coming up next. Or Mitchell Robinson, you know, just always
Y's right.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Love it.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
This was a very odd situation, to say the least.
We'll chat about that. He's Jared Smith. I'm Brian No.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
It is Fox Sports Saturday right here on Fox Sports Radio.
So Scottie Scheffler, what a story here? Jared Goodness, So
he was arrested before round two of the BGA Championship
over there in Louisville this year and he was released and.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Then went out and shot five under.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Crazy. It worked out. So the story is there sadly,
there was a fatality. There was a death before round two.
There was a fan that was hit by a shuttle
bus and died, and so you can imagine there are
police all over the place. It's this huge scene and

(17:43):
here's Scotty Scheffler. He doesn't know there's been this fatality.
He's trying to get to the golf course. And his
version is it was a giant misunderstanding. He didn't know
the police said stop, and he kept going and then
next thing you know, he's arrested. So there are two

(18:03):
very different accounts this was a statement. This is from
the police report, right, Jared. So it says Detective Gillis
stopped Scheffler and attempted to give instructions. Subject refused to
comply and accelerated forward, dragging Detective Gillis to the ground.
Detective Gillis suffered pain, swelling and abrasions to his left

(18:27):
wrist and knee.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
So not good.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
There are four charges. One is a felony charge. Yeah,
And so Scheffler was he was booked, you know, and
he said he was stretching in his jail cell just
in case he got out in time and could make
it to the golf course for round two. He did,
and then he went out there and was fantastic. He

(18:52):
talked about it took me about an hour to get
rid of the shakes over here. This is not what
I had in mind this morning. But and he dealt
with all of that and played great yesterday. Yeah, this
is so I woke up. I was in Chicago this
week doing some work. I woke up to this story

(19:13):
and it almost felt like I was waking up in
some kind of an alternate reality, Like I almost like
I read the headline and it was Jeff Darlington, by
the way, unbelievable reporting by him. If you watch those videos,
that's a pretty high emotional scene and he kept his cool.
And based on the video that we saw, granted I

(19:34):
wasn't there and I didn't see the pre or you know,
any of the posts from that video that little minute
clip that we got, but it looked like Scotty was
pretty calm, Jeff Darlington was pretty calm.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Even the cops almost looked like they were just kind of, oh, yeah, well,
you know, he's going to jail.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Sorry.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
It was a bizar one of the most bizarre things
I think has happened in the golf world since Tiger's accident,
and not the accident where he got into an accident,
but the accident where his ex wife kind of, you know, pushed.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Them a little bit.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
I think there's so many I was trying to find
the words yesterday for this, Brian, I couldn't.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
I think there's two things.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
First of all, obviously, condolences to the family of the
deceased victim. That's always the first thing, and I'm glad
that Scotti's statement made that very clear that that was
kind of the.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Reason for all the commotion in the first place.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
But then you get to the post, right, all right,
so that happens, the misunderstanding occurs, and then the rest
of it was almost surreal. And I'm reading a lot
of things about the mugshot and having him dress up
in the orange jumpsuit. Like I have a friend that
works in the Louisville area, you know, in the news

(20:47):
department and you know, always on the assignment desk, and
she sees a lot of these mugshots that come in
from real like criminals, like you know, attempt at murder
type stuff, and they're not dressed up in the jumpsuit.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
They're just in their normal clothes.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
Now, I heard there might have been a change of
policy really recently, but the fact of the matter is,
it seemed like after it happened, the cops were kind
of buddy buddy with him in the jail cell and
they were giving him food, and it was almost like
it was just a surreal scene. And I think it'll
all be resolved rather quickly. But the thing here is

(21:20):
Scotty going out and shooting this and winning, you know,
maybe winning this tournament this weekend would be one of
the crazy I mean golf ratings this week, I are
gonna be absolutely through the roof. But it's just I
almost don't even know what to say and respond like
it was just such a bizarre story and it all
happened so fast, and then he got back to the
course and play like it was just absolutely bizarre.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
It really was, And man, we weren't there, Jared, I
really don't know. It's one of these deals where it
could have been just a misunderstanding. It could have been
a thing where Scotty was locked in and was just
he didn't take an order as seriously as he should have.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
I don't know, I wasn't there. I really could be
either one.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
I think that's fair to say, because I've been in
situations before where it was just a misunderstanding. I didn't
know I was disobeying in order. There was a similar
situation there was on the highway in Indiana. There was
a fatality, a possible fatality car wreck down the road, sure,
and they were having everybody exit the highway and it

(22:23):
was weird. They had a car stopped like way before
the exit ramp, and so I'm like, do we exit
because everybody else was, But I'm like, maybe I can
keep going, So I kept going and a cop pulled
me over right away, and he was upset as if
I directly disobeyed in order, and I'm like, it's just

(22:46):
a misunderstanding.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
Man.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
I didn't know all of us had to exit, so
it could be that I don't know. I don't know.
All I know is this. These are not suggestions.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
When the cops tell you stop your vehicle like, this
is a direct So if Scotty disobeyed, that not what
you want to do. But in any event, you talk
about something that could shake you up, this is golf.
You're holding a golf club. If you've got the shakes,
not good, you know. And he got rid of all
of that and still shot five under. I know it

(23:17):
was a soft golf course yesterday, but if anything can
shake you up to the point where you don't shoot that, well,
it's that situation. And even that didn't throw him off.
He birdied the first hole.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
And so to my understanding of the situation, he was
in a marked PGA vehicle while this was occurring, and
I don't think the police officer would have been as
aggressive as he was unless Scotty did do something to disobey.
But I also think charging him with a felony assault

(23:53):
of a police officer is kind of a bit much here,
Like that feels like, all right, he might have overreached
a little bit too. Let's overcharge him with things to
make it look like he did something a little I now, granted,
you're right, I wasn't there. I'm not speaking from fact here.
This is my opinion of what I know about Scotty Scheffler.

(24:16):
I just don't think he would willingly run over a
police officer if he really thought that that was going
to be the thing that deterred the situation, you know,
made the situation escalate. I don't get the vibe that
Scotty wanted to escalate this situation. And of course we
are relying on Jeff Darlington, who was on site watching
this entire situation play out. The exact words he used

(24:39):
was the police officer attached himself to the car. Yeah,
it sounds like he was like Spider Man, like, what
does that mean? Attach himself to the car. Because here's
how I perceived the situation in my head. There's a
lot of tumult happening. Scotty's got to get to work.

(25:00):
All of the PGA officials and the players were told
that they can go through, and I'm sure Scotty was
given that information. Hey there's something going on, but you're
allowed to go through, right. It's almost like you've got
a credential and the security guard is stopping you, and
the credentials like hidden or something and they can't see it.
But you're like, no, I'm good, and the CoP's like, well, no,
you're not. Where's your credential? And Scotty just tried to

(25:23):
kind of skirt around it. And again, that wording really
is intriguing to me that Jeff Darlington used attached himself
to the car, because to me, that's like saying, Oh,
I punched this guy in the face and I'm gonna
suit him for breaking my knuckles like that.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
If the cop is like jumping on the hood of
the car.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
And then Scotty stops and then the cop gets injured
in that process, I don't see how you can charge
him with a felony assault of a police officer.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
That seems a bit much to me.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Now, again, we are speaking from all speculative purposes here.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
The facts of the case. I'm sure some point will
play out.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Scotty seems pretty confident this is all gonna blow over
and it's a misunderstanding. And I'm kind of on his
side here, but I do need more information.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
I need more facts.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
I'd love to see the body cam of this cop
attaching himself to Scotty's vehicle. But it just it seems
like such a bizarre escalation, right, Brian. To go from
routine traffic misunderstanding to Scotty being hauled away in handcuffs
like that is a big jump.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
And that's the part that I'm confused about.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Well, that's the thing is we're just playing a big
game of this could have been the case, you know
what I mean. So the other side of it is,
and I could see this Scotty is locked in right,
it's round two, it's freaking go time. He doesn't know
what the situation exactly is, and he's just got to
go to work, like you said, And all of a

(26:49):
sudden someone's telling him stop, and like you don't grasp
the severity of the situation in that moment. Let's say this,
a cop tells him to stop, and he is like,
why it's right there, I'm just right there to work, right,
And all of a sudden he starts going and maybe
the cop like tries to reach into the window and

(27:11):
says it stopped or whatever, and then he get kind
of what I heard happen, right, and then he gets
shoved to the ground based on the car, you know.
So if this guy gets injured and Scotty did not
obey a lawful order, right, that's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
So that could have been the case as well. I
just know this. I'll stick with what I know. When
the cop.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Is reaching in trying to pry him out of the car,
when you're getting hooked and booked and you're just trying
to process what is happening right now, to go out
and shoot five under after that, it's totally impressive, really,
And that's something that we know is the case. The
lead up to that, I don't know. It's a gray
area right now. Maybe it'll get sorted out. Maybe we'll

(27:59):
never know exactly what happened. But I hope they're gonna
have it.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
On the Netflix special because that would be unbelievable.

Speaker 8 (28:06):
Oh man.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
Absolutely, And to be fair to Scotty too, like his
wife was about to give birth and he won the masters,
like this seat and I'm not de escalating this situation
at all, But in terms of like big picture life stuff,
that is miles ahead of what happened yesterday.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
So I actually think he's gonna win this tournament. I
honestly do.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
I think because Xanderschoff's got a history and we won't
get into the golf analysis too much, but he's got
a history of kind of you know, choking things away
in major championships over the weekend at scott He's not
in that realm. He's kind of the opposite. So I
would not be shocked in the slightest if he won
this tournament.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Hey, hey, Mike, he's got a great shot, there's no
doubt about that. We'll get you some audio right around
the corner first, though, Man, I'll tell you what live
and in living radio color audio from the one and
only Isaac Lowencron. I gotta apologize. It's probably one of

(29:06):
my worst lead ups to you. I beg you.

Speaker 9 (29:10):
Right, all is forgiven well, speaking of lead ups and
speaking of what you guys were just talking about, among
other things that were trending on Twitter when all of
this happened yesterday. So CBS will be televising the final

(29:31):
round of the PGA Championship on Sunday, So what was
trending was all right. Indeed, if Scottie Scheffler winds up
winning the tournament, what will Jim Lance, Jim Nan excuse me,
Jim Nantz's line be commemorate the occasion. So social media
was going crazy, and it seemed that the winner on

(29:52):
social media came from an individual at Casey F. Bannon
who tweeted the Jim Nance line from hands up to
hands down the best in the.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
World, Internet's undefeated, I tell about it.

Speaker 9 (30:06):
The start of play at the PGA Championship today was
delayed by fog, but it will now get under way
two minutes from now at nine to forty Eastern time. Fellers,
they still have to finish out round two from yesterday
before Round three can begin. Xanders Shopley, the lead of
twelve under Colin Morric Howell, won back Scottie Scheffler is
three back. In Game six of the Eastern Conference semi

win over the New York Next Game seven Sunday at
Madison Square Garden and the Stanley Cup playoffs on Friday Night,
and Game six of the Western Conference semi Finals, the
Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche were tied at one in
double overtime. Here's Josh bogorad on k Tck in the

(30:51):
corner back for Pavelski could shoot clearly, Marchman, where.

Speaker 8 (30:55):
Is it to shade Eastons?

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Who else could it be? Matt Dushane in Colorado ends the.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
Avalanche season and he has sent the Stars to the
conference final four games to two. In Game six of
the Eastern Conference semi Finals on Friday Night, the Florida
Panthers won at Boston two to one to win that
series four games to two. Finally, in baseball, Friday Night,
Dodgers over the Red seven to three. Show Hey o

Tigers won at Arizona thirteen to nothing. Friends, as Jim
Nance would say, from hard time to hardware, from the
slammer to halfway to a grand.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Slam back to you guys, I like that, Yeah, the
Grand Slammer would be a funny lane right there. Shortly
after the show, our podcast will be going up. If

(32:06):
your podcasts, and you'll see this show posted right after
we get off the air. Let's hear from Scotti Scheffler
real fast. This was after his round two, after the
whole ordeal being arrested in the morning.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Here's how he described the whole situation.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
It's just a huge misunderstanding this morning that that'll get resolved,
I think fairly quickly. And yeah, I mean I came
here for a golf turn and I was I was
driving in this morning, trying to get to my warm
up time and get ready for the round of golf.
You know, I didn't really have an understanding of what
it transpired this morning, and you know, my main focus
after getting arrested was, you know, wondering if I could

(32:40):
be able to come back out here and play, and
you know, fortunately I was able to do that and
it was nice to put together a solid round today.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
I thought he handled the post post round press conference
really well. I agree where it wasn't It wasn't just
about him, right, Jared. That was a really good way
to handle it. It was you know, he talked about
the victim, you know, passing away and his thoughts and
prayers with the family and all of that. He talked
about law enforcement, you know, that was important, whereas I've

(33:11):
got all the respect in the world for the jobs
that they do, and YadA YadA, that sort of thing,
and it was less about him and more about that.
That was a great You could tell pr was all
over this and it was like, Scotty, this is really important.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
This is what you want to do. These are the
bullet points.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
I thought he followed it very well, and we'll see
where it goes from here. He's gonna be I think
it's gonna be arraigned on Tuesday. Look, man, it's not
like he's gonna do hard time for anything like this.
This is not a big deal as far as you know,
future golf tournaments or anything like that. The question is
is he gonna win the PGA Championship, Because, like you said,

(33:49):
jaredy's right right there. He's just a couple of shots
off the lead, tied in fourth place. So he's absolutely
live to win this thing.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
I would put my money on Scottie, and I agree
with the way he handled the post of this was
very classy. I did notice a lot of the police
officers on the course coming up to him yesterday and
kind of dapping him up, buddy, buddy.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
And and I think this is speculating.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
I'm assuming the Louisville Police Office probably got a call
from the mayor in some capacity and you know, hey, listen,
we need to play this up. It was ironic because
the governor of Kentucky tweeted something out before the tournament like, oh,
the beautiful, you know, beautiful course and you know, let's
welcome all the PGA players here with.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Open arms, warm welcome.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
This week is the eyes of the golfing world fixate
on Valhalla and it just it was a retweet from
freezing cold Takes.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
And again I think this is a meme. Golf Twitter
was in its bag yesterday, as they say it was.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Some of the stuff was so funny, and I don't
want to laugh too much because again, they're a victim
involved here. And I'm glad that Scottie addressed that first,
first and foremost and then tried to calm right to
me if he takes the high road here. If I
had to predict it, as we normally do on this show,
I think the felony charges will get dismissed and it'll

(35:16):
be a misdemeanor and he'll pay the citation and we'll
move on and we won't talk about this anymore after
a few months.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Yeah, that's that's most likely the way it's going to
go down. But crazy story, man, I've never seen anything
like it, No, especially in golf.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
But here we are here, we are.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
All right, right around the corner the par lay platter.
Jared Smith FSR, betting analyst, has been in the lab.
There's been smoke billowing out. He's been crunching numbers left
and right. So we will get to that right around
the corner. I'm Brian note no Rich Orenberger. Today we
are pressing on and we will get to some betting
talk right around the corner. Very curious which sport it's

(35:55):
gonna be about. Maybe a little a true parlay platter.
Cross I don't know. I like being I like it
being thrown at me without knowing in advance.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I'll put it that way so well, I'll find out
texting it to you guys, then I saw you a service.
You could tease it up.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
But if you want to be a surprised Brian, I'm
very good at the last second.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Oh, this is the last leg we're at in here.
There we go.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
That's not all bad sometimes, all right, It's Fox Sports
Saturday right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
It is Fox Sports Saturday, right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
No time to waste, Let's do this.

Speaker 8 (36:44):
Check this out our late letter.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Okay, Jared, you've been hard at work, very curious what
you're about to unveil here with the platter.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
What do you have for us?

Speaker 3 (36:54):
Well, let's have some fun with reverse correlation. Right, We're
always talking about same game parl and you know they're
terrible backs in parlay this parlay that. Yeah, for the
most part, but you can always get a little extra
bang for your bucket you get creative. Let's try to
get creative here with MAVs Thunder Game six. So we're
gonna focus on Kyrie Irvin. We're gonna go over on

(37:15):
one prop, we're gonna go under on another prop, and
then we're gonna put the MAVs on the money line
to spice this thing up at the end. So first,
let's go with the positive for Kyrie Irvin over five
and a half assists, what was going over this in
five of seven games against the Thunder this series. He is,
in my opinion, the key distributor for the Mavericks for
assists on thirteen potential assists.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
I love the NBA Advanced Stats website.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
They let you track potential assists and that makes sense, right,
Kyrie makes a great pass, Dude, just bricks the shot. Well,
the average is about sixty five seventy percent converting those
potential assists. Well, Kyrie way under that in Game five
for assists thirteen potentials. I mean, he was basically you know,
brick City with all the open looks that the Maverick

(38:00):
we're getting off of his passes. So I think there's
gonna be a little bit more of a hey you're
at home role players played better at home. The shots
I think will fall at a higher rate in this game. Now,
let's talk about the negative for Kyrie Irving. The three
point prop. We're gonna go under two and a half,
and again it's kind of the same vibe. He has
been more of the distributor in this series. He's only

(38:22):
attempting twelve shots from the floor per game, three shots
from deep. If you compare that to the last round
against the Clippers eighteen and a half shots per game
from the floor, eight shots from deep. So again the
volume of shooting is down for Kyrie Irving. In the
last game, he went two of two from three, so
he obviously stayed under two and a half and he

(38:42):
made both shots.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
I mean that is a highly efficient game.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
The only game he's gone over two and a half
make threes in this series is Game one when he
went three of four and again highly efficient shooting percentage
seventy five percent from deep. I don't think that is
going to happen here. So we'll go under two and
a half. And then the final leg. As I mentioned,
just the Mavericks on the money line, this is the
highest spread at home for Dallas in this series.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
Game three, they were basically an underdog.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
It was a pick'm kind of but I would say
they closed as like a one point dog, and in
the Mavericks were minus one and a half closed two
to two and a half in game four. Now we're
seeing three and a half the spread for game six,
so the market's telling us Dallas is going to win
this game. And again the reverse correlation here, Brian, is
where we're finding the value over assists under three point

(39:32):
makes plus three fifty on this parlay. If we just
did the true odds of it, it should be about
plus three twenty. So that extra thirty cents bang.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
For your buck.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
That's because of that reverse correlation going under on one
prop over on another.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
As we focus on Kyrie irvingtime.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Man, I'll tell you this, I like what you're thinking
with Kyrie because you're right, he's been more of a
distributor than a scorer. They're sending bodies at him, obviously,
he's one of the keys for them to defend, and
they've done a really good job on him. They've got
some long defenders, you know, they've done a really good
job on Kyrie. So I like what you're thinking with

(40:09):
his props. I'm so curious to see how Okac punch
is back. Yeah, because last time in Dallas they had
a great fourth quarter. They pulled it out. This is
back's against the wall facing elimination. I want to see
how they punched back after a disappointing Game five. But hey, man,
I hope this hits for you. Hey, coming up next,
ball is back in a way. The schedule has been released. Oh,

(40:32):
good morning everybody. I hope you're having a fantastic Saturday already.
So the NFL schedule has officially been announced. Happened this week, Jared,
And look, man, there's a lot to unpack, but we
can't go through all thirty two teams, you know, so
the big picture stuff I want to hone in on
your Jets. You know. Yeah, we started off talking about

(40:54):
your knicks to start the show. Let's talk about your
Jets over here. Six primetime games in the first eleven weeks.
And oh, by the way, there's a standalone game they
play in London as well. So you've got seven of
the jets first eleven games where that's the only game
going on at the time. So that's a big bet

(41:17):
on the Jets by the NFL that they're gonna be good,
gonna be relevant, gonna be a draw.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
I get it. I think they can be.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
But man, seven standalone games in the first eleven weeks.
That's a big bet on them.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
It is, and I hope it goes better than last
year because we saw this, We've already been down this road.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
Those who forget history doomed to repeat it.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
I don't think it was as many games last year,
but they were opening week Monday Night Football and Aaron
Rodgers runs out with the American flag and twenty minutes
later is season's over. So I'm excited as a Jets fan,
I'm very excited. Here's what I'm more excited about. So
four of the first five games are against teams per
Jet to win six or fewer games, three of them

(42:03):
against rookie quarterbacks playing away from home. You get New England, Denver,
and Minnesota. Now we don't know if it's going to
be a rookie in New England. I think Denver and Minnesota.
I'm a little more confident that those rookies Nix and
excuse me, yeah, Nix and McCarthy will be the starters
there day one, and I think you can maybe flip
a coin on Drake May. I mean, I don't know

(42:26):
how the Jets don't start four and one there, right,
You know, for of those first five games against teams
with win totals of six and a half or fewer.
So I just I think the NFL is kind of
stacking the deck a little bit. And there are no
coincidences with this schedule. For example, if you're a Dan
Patrick on the show or on his show earlier this week,

(42:46):
the Chiefs are in Buffalo the same week that Taylor
Swift is in Toronto. That is not a coincidence. That
is not a coincidence. The NFL knows where their bread
is buttered. They stacked the deck. For example, Carolina Panthers
have zero primetime games this year and that should not
surprise any of you. So I'm excited as a Jets fan.

(43:08):
I think as a football fan, the schedule releases kind
of like Christmas morning, and now we just try to
put some of the pieces together because there's some interesting
nuances with some of this stuff.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
Oh absolutely there are. There are a lot of things
to look at. I like, there are a handful of
teams that play three road games in a row, like
three road games in three weeks. So those four teams,
it's the Bills, the Browns, the Bears, and the Vikings.
So that's a tough stretch if you look at the
Bills in particular. So they start with the They have

(43:41):
the Dolphins in week two, so you go to Miami
on a short week on Thursday night and you deal
with the heat there. And then weeks four through six
you've got all on the road for the Bills, the Ravens,
the Texans, and the Jets.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Well, that's a tough start for the Bills.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
And think about that, Stefan Diggs is no longer a
bar to the Bills organization. So Josh Allen's got to
get used to the new receivers, the new roles that
are going on. We're figuring this stuff out on the fly.
And man, most of your first six games are tough opponents,
including three road games in three weeks against the Ravens, Texans,

(44:22):
and Jets.

Speaker 1 (44:22):
Not easy for Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
No. And so the first thing I look at when
and Warren Sharp does a really good job of breaking
this stuff down. And I give him credit for this.
He's the first one that turned me on to the
net rest edge with the teams, and I think that, listen, guys,
it's hard to really tell who's going to be good
at what time, and the timing and this get like

(44:45):
we can get a general sense of that. Brian made
a good point about the road teams when you play
consecutive road games, where is your bye week? And then
the net rest edge to me is crucial because at
the end of the season and who is more rested
tends to be the team that is able to sprint
to the finish line. And we saw this play out

(45:05):
with Baltimore last year when they kind of caught a
couple of breaks down the stretch with the rest and
then they were able to sprint to the fit and out.
Then we're out in the postseason, which is a completely
different story. But they were able to get that number
one seed, they were able to clinch, they were able
to get Lamar Jackson across the finish line for the MVP,
and I just think those are the things that we
look about. Well, guess what this year, the Ravens have

(45:27):
the number one largest net rest edge in the history
since Warren Sharp's been calculating this, which dates back thirty
five years, So the Ravens kind of got an easy,
easy draw there. Meanwhile, on the other side, the largest
net rest disadvantage in terms of how many times you
play teams when they're more rested than you the Niners,

(45:51):
So it keep that in mind.

Speaker 1 (45:53):
If you want to bet over on the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (45:55):
You should feel a little more confident that they're going
to be the more rested team down the stretch. You
want to bet under on the Niners, you're more confident
that you're going to be on the right side of
that rest advantage when the chips fall towards the end
of season. And of course, if we're betting win totals,
I think, for me, Brian, I want if I'm betting
an over, I want an easy start because I want

(46:15):
to get out in front of that win total.

Speaker 1 (46:17):
If I'm betting an under, I want a difficult start.

Speaker 3 (46:18):
Right. It's not rocket science here, but the net rest
advantage to me is absolutely crucial because this is a
physical sport and these guys the rest matters in December
and January.

Speaker 1 (46:31):
Yeah, I like it.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
And that's something you'll see in the NFL quite a bit,
especially with teams that have high expectations. If they get
off to a bit of a rocky start happens almost
every year, that team will start to press and it
starts to snowball. A team that's expected to be in
the playoffs for sure. It's like, yeah, they got off
to a rough start. They started, you know, it might

(46:54):
only be one and two, you know, and it starts
to get away from the It can happen. And so
I'm hearing you as far as what the path is
at the beginning of the season, for sure, And you
mentioned the forty nine ers. So they're gonna play four
teams that are coming off of their bye week, and

(47:15):
so the forty nine Ers play the Bills huge. Think
about this, The Bills, the Chiefs, the Cowboys, and the Seahawks,
all those teams are coming off their bye week. How
often do we talk about Andy Reid and the Chiefs
and what they do off of a bye week and
how they've done a great job to prepare for their
next opponent, have a great record, all that sort of stuff.

Speaker 1 (47:36):
So the forty nine Ers will get.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
The Chiefs, and the Chiefs will just be coming off
their bye week.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
That matters. That's an important thing to keep in mind.
It's huge.

Speaker 3 (47:47):
And again, you can never overreact to this now because
there's so many other variables that we don't know yet,
and some of those games might be there, might be
other injuries impacting those games where the team, even coming
off the bye week, is really banged up and the
rest isn't as important. Again, these are unknown variables that

(48:08):
we can't factor into any wagers that we want to
make pre flop on these teams.

Speaker 1 (48:12):
But from a betting perspective, these are the.

Speaker 3 (48:15):
Things that we look at, guys, and you know, Brian
will talk to Crack tomorrow on the show, and you know,
and as we get later on in the offseason, the
NFL futures market becomes more important.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
And when when when I.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
Talk to the professional gamblers in our space, these are
the things that we are talking about before we get
to the season.

Speaker 1 (48:34):
And I can't I can't wait. Can we start the
season tomorrow?

Speaker 3 (48:40):
The schedule released to me, is it really is like
Christmas morning? Because now we have the denominator of who
the teams play and when, and we can start to
piece together how we feel these teams are going to play,
what the record's gonna be after five games, after ten games,
and you know, where are the kind of roadblocks and
the obstacles that might be the turning points in the season,

(49:01):
some of those unique games, right, I think we get
Russell Wilson going back for homecoming game, Like we get
all these like fun, little gorky little parts of the schedule.
I think one of the teams coming back from London.
I think it's the Jags don't have a bye week.
I saw that one of the teams, and that always
I'm always interested in that too. When you come back
as we have more international games than ever before, when
you come.

Speaker 1 (49:21):
Back from being overseas.

Speaker 3 (49:23):
Are you getting rest and how's that going to impact
the last you know, that little stretch. It just there's
so many quirks and nuances to the schedule and fitting
all the pieces together. Now we finally get it and
we can start to, you know, make sense of it
in our heads. But man, if you're not a Jets
or Aaron Rodgers fan, do not turn on your primetime
games the first two months of the.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
Year because you're gonna be seeing a lot of Gang Green.
You really will. That's what I started thinking about too.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
Where outside of Okay, you're in the middle of the season,
you're thinking about betting a game in Week nine, right,
the obvious is, hey, how did the these teams match up?
Who's injured? Those are the obvious ones. Do you look
at anything else more times than not? Right where the
NFL came out, And there are sites that put together

(50:13):
the mileage the miles traveled based on the schedule. The
Chargers will travel the most. They'll travel almost twenty seven
thousand miles. The Washington Commanders will travel the least. They
travel just over ten thousand miles. So think about the
difference between twenty seven thousand and ten thousand. Will you
look at travel? Will you look at bye weeks? I mean,

(50:38):
what will you look at? It's a tough stretch of opponents,
you know what I mean, it's their third road game
in a row. Is there anything that you look at
more times than not aside from how these teams match
up and who's injured?

Speaker 3 (50:52):
Traveling after primetime games? For example, when you play a
primetime game Monday night, Monday night, and then you've got
to go on the road again the following week. Because
even if you do have to go on the road
the following week, barring unless it's like a really insane
travel situation, you will go back home first and then

(51:14):
go back on.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
The road a few days later.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
But if your routine is already thrown off because you're
playing late Sunday night or Monday night, and then you
go back home and then you're back on the road
the following week. That is I would say worth a
half a point maybe right there. Probably not more than
that unless it's like a really intense travel situation.

Speaker 1 (51:36):
And yeah, the bye weeks matter.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
I'm always interested in when teams have bye weeks. For example,
the Jets have a later bye week this year. I
think that favors the Jets. They're an older team that matters.
I don't want their bye week in week five. I
want it in week fifteen. I want them to play
the entire season pretty much, and I think it's in
week twelve this year.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
So you get that late.

Speaker 3 (52:01):
By week, right, you play eleven consecutive weeks, you're all
over the map, late games, primetime games, all over the map,
and then you get a week twelve by week where
Aaron Rodgers, hopefully still upright by then, gets to take
his breath. The rest of the team, which is a
very veteran laden team, gets to relax, and then you
only have to play thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eight,

(52:22):
six weeks down the stretch. That finishing kick that favors
the Jets, I think. And if you're a younger team,
like for example, I think CJ. Stroud last year had
a very early bye week. I think that favors an
earlier I think that favors a younger quarterback where you
get a few weeks out of the gate to get
your you know, get your feet wet, and then you

(52:43):
get the relax and kind of okay, what did I
learn in this first month or two, and then you
can conclude now, I guess most of the teams don't
have that.

Speaker 1 (52:50):
Most teams these days are pretty veteran laden.

Speaker 3 (52:53):
You know, there's always going to be older guys on
the team that want the later bye week. But I
think at the quarterback position, if you're a rookie or
a first second year guy, I want an early bye week.

Speaker 1 (53:01):
If you're an Aaron Rodgers, I want a later bye week.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
And these aren't things that are gonna, you know, drastically
impact how I view teams. But maybe you shade a
quarter of a win, you know, you bump the Jets
total up a quarter of a win because they get
that week twelve by and they get to kind of
take your breath and then go to the stretch run.
So these are just some of the little things I
look for and the professional betters will look for before

(53:25):
placing wagers on season win totals.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
Yeah, I look at what depends what you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (53:30):
If it's a week to week thing or if it's
a season win total thing, I'll give you a week
to week thing.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
I just look for spots, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (53:38):
And that to me is for me personally, it's more
of a like a gumbo stew. It's not just one
thing where it's like I'm looking at the travel and
that's it. That might go into it, But it's a
combination of things. It might be a little bit of travel.
It might be hey, this is a really tough stretch
of opponents for this squad, or their opponent is coming

(53:59):
off bye week. You know, any number of things where
there's a light bulb that goes off in your head
that says, hey, this is a good spot to bet
against the favorite, you know. So, I think it's more
that it's a combination. To answer it, I don't have
one particular thing outside of matchups and injuries that I
hone in on and say this is my go to

(54:22):
and this is why I'm backing the favorite or the dog.
It's just a combination of stuff. You look for a
lot of things to try to figure out. Hey, this
is just a good spot. Even though this is a
really good team, this is just not a great week
to back them, right, I think it's just a combination
of stuff.

Speaker 1 (54:39):
Yeah, And I'll give you a good example too.

Speaker 3 (54:41):
Caleb Williams right Bears number one pick, of course, rookie quarterback.
Easiest schedule in the NFL the first ten weeks. That's
very helpful. Now it gets top down the stretch. Only
two home games the final six, but the first two
months of the year, Caleb Williams has a pretty soft landing.

(55:01):
Would you want it? Do you want it like that?

Speaker 1 (55:03):
Jared?

Speaker 2 (55:03):
Like, really, it's a good question if you're thinking about
going over on the Bear season win total.

Speaker 1 (55:08):
Yes, do you one?

Speaker 3 (55:09):
You can always play under live in season. That's trigging
it off to a hot start, that's true. But young rookie,
first time NFL starter, you know what I mean? Maybe
even though they're playing a lesser team, they're not firing
at all cylinders. They drop a couple of those games
early on, right, Right, there's an argument to be made
the other way.

Speaker 1 (55:29):
What do you think about that? Yeah, no, that that's
a that's a valid argument.

Speaker 3 (55:33):
I think if I had to choose, I would rather
play the easier I would rather play the worst team
in the NFL my first, right, Like I think, if
you're like, I just just thro throw the JV guys
and the hot dog guy from the stands out there.
Let me get a win under my belt, let me
feel success in the NFL, and then.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
I'll deal with the adversity later.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
Let's be honest, Caleb Williams gonna is gonna face adversity
this year. Guys, it's gonna happen. The Bears are not
this you know Juggernaut. Their defense is fantastic. I think
that's the thing that's gonna help Caleb more than anything else.
And yeah, it is valid because if you do, Let's
say they do start oh to four against a very
soft schedule.

Speaker 1 (56:13):
Let's pull up the Bear schedule right now.

Speaker 3 (56:15):
Let's say they start oh and four Titans, Texans, Colts, Rams, Panthers, Jags,
and that Jags game's overseas. Let's say you start like
two and four there. Yeah, obviously that's less than ideal, right, right,
not great, Bob, but I would much rather him get
his feet wet against that than Ravens, Niners, Jets, and

(56:39):
then you know you face and another interesting cork to
the Bear schedule this year. They don't play a divisional
opponent until like Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (56:48):
It's really weird.

Speaker 2 (56:50):
That is strange, you know, I'm looking at I'm just
curious thinking about CJ. Stroud last season, Yeah, and how
great of a year he had. I'm like, I'm curious
who they started off against, still going right now? They
were at Baltimore, remember that they're at Baltimore. They got
blown out twenty five to nine. But then it was
the Colts, Jags, Steelers, Falcons, Saints, Panthers, Buccaneers. Like, think

(57:14):
of all those teams I rattled off, almost all of
them are around five hundred right around there, right, They
weren't playing upper echelon teams.

Speaker 3 (57:23):
No. So they lost that Carolina after the bye week though,
and that is that was crazy lost. That was I
think CJ. Strout on the road last year. You could
tell wasn't as sharp in certain games. Right, they played
that game against the Jets where he got banged up,
and they really got you know, knocked around in that game.
I think that's the key for Caleb Williams. Right, we

(57:45):
talked about the early part to his schedule, those tough
road games at Green Bay last week of the year,
at San Francisco, at Detroit week thirteen, Week fourteen, well,
you know, a week week fifteen at Minnesota. I would
rather play my tough road.

Speaker 1 (58:01):
Games as a rookie later in the year. Winning on
the road as a rookie ain't easy.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
And if you know their first two road games at
Houston at India, I mean that's not a cake walk.
But they're at home minus the the you know, the
overseas game for three out of their first five. So
I think Caleb got the benefit of the doubt with
the soft schedule early.

Speaker 1 (58:22):
No, I think it makes sense. It's good for the Bears.

Speaker 2 (58:25):
I think I think it's better than the other way around,
even though you could look at it both ways. Real fast,
Carolina last year two and fifteen on the season, they
beat the Texans fifteen to thirteen and they beat the
Falcons nine to seven. That's zero so season wins for
the care Why they got zero primetime game? That's exactly right. Hey,

(58:47):
Thoroughbred racing has a new independent regulator HAISA that's implementing
comprehensive reforms, and the sport is combining hands on care
with cutting edge technology to help keep its athletes safe.
To learn more, that safety runs First, dot com, That
safety runs First dot Com. All right, we've got Jared
Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No coming up next.

(59:08):
The two best words in sports might not be what
you think they are.

Speaker 1 (59:13):
That's on the way.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
It's Fox Sports Saturday, right here on Fox Sports Radio.
It is Fox Sports Saturday, right here on Fox Sports Radio.
So tomorrow, Jared, we're treated to two game sevens.

Speaker 4 (59:26):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (59:26):
We got a pair of them.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
We got the the Pacers and Knicks. They settle it,
and then we got the Timberwolves and Nuggets. So two
game sevens. That's a beautiful thing right there. Now here's
the deal, man. We hear this all the time. You'll
hear it tomorrow. Ah, two best words in sports. I
tweeted this out.

Speaker 3 (59:46):
A few days ago for another game seven Yeah did
you really?

Speaker 9 (59:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (59:51):
For something else? Part of the hockey series.

Speaker 2 (59:54):
Part of the culture over there, jaredy Yeah, you know,
I'm a follower here's what I'd like to say. Okay,
the two best words in sports are not Game seven.
The two best words in sports are super Bowl. Those
are the two best words in sports. Cause here's the thing, man,
I'm not against Game seven, Jared. I love Game seven,

(01:00:14):
but it's been put on a pedestal and it's not accurate. Okay,
the super Bowl is on the highest pedestal we got.
I have a question for you tomorrow, Jared. Are you
going to invite a bunch of people over to your place?
So you're gonna go to a friend's house and it's
this huge party. No, you're not doing that. Do you
think Pacers, Nicks or t Wolves Nuggets will draw over

(01:00:36):
one hundred and ten million people watching like the super Bowl? No,
my mind, it will, but no, not in reality, they
will not. Yeah, it's not gonna come even close. That's
the thing, man. The super Bowl is way more special.
It's a much bigger event than any Game seven. And
that's just the truth. So when I know two best

(01:00:58):
words in sports, game seven, it's like, when you stop
and think about it, no, that's false advertising.

Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
I agree with your premise. Here is why Game seven
is special. It's not scheduled. It's not planned. We don't
know if it's gonna happen or not. Could happen, might happen,
probably won't happen. We've only had one this entire postseason,
the super Bowl. We know when it's gonna be every
year it's there. It's reliable. You're right, And first of all,

(01:01:25):
I'm glad you separated it into two words.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Some people still put it as one, which is a
pet peeve. There don't.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
For another day. That used to be on my Twitter bio.
Super Bowl is two words. That's when I went on
my tombstone, like, right, my goodness, that's why I love you, Brian.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
But the reason why Game seven has this aura about
it and and yeah we can we can be nitpicky
about the wording we use and and that stuff. But
the part that makes it special, and this is the
part that makes sports special. I always say the best
reality TV is sports. Forget that real housewatch crap. It's

(01:02:04):
because it's unscripted.

Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
Right.

Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
The Knicks could have closed out the series last night,
could have been over, Nuggets, could have win in a
Minnesota and said, you know what, we don't want to
play a Game seven. We're good but that's not what happened.
And now we get these two very I would call
them very intriguing series. I think the winner of the
Nuggets two Wolves game is gonna win the NBA Finals.

(01:02:27):
You want my prediction now, Yeah, And I think the
winner of the Knicks Pacers series is going to be
Lambs to the Slaughter to the Celtics. But that's another
story for another day as well. We'll talk about that
next Saturday. But that, to me is what makes Game
seven special. Going into the series, we're hoping for Game seven,
going into the NFL season, we are waiting for the

(01:02:49):
super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
I hear you, And look, we live in a strange
time where if you say, hey, this is better than that,
people think you're saying that, yes, it sucks, right, not
the case that I love Game seven. Game seven is fantastic.
It's for all the marbles, do or die, all that

(01:03:11):
type of stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
Those are better cliches. I like those cliches better.

Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
It's great, but it's not what the Super Bowl is. No,
So that's the only thing I'm pushing back on the
two best words of sports. In sports, it's almost universal.
If you went up to people on the street and said, hey,
we're the two best words in sports.

Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
They'll say game seven. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
If it's a sports fan and they almost everyone would say, oh,
game seven.

Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
I would say, now, when you stop and think about it,
we've been programmed. I'll push back. The best two words
in sports in my opinion or football season ball buffet.
Jeff Schwartz shout out Jeff Schwartz.

Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
He tweeted me that this morning because I put out
the hey, three hours of pure unfiltered ball, and he
responded kind of like a ball buffet.

Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
That's right. Yeah, that's when we do the shows. That's
that's my go to phrase.

Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
I love and I always say it's football, you know,
the ball buffet over there. But yeah, lots to go
on today, but uh, there you go. I say, the
two best words in sports are actually super Bowl and
uh you know, if Bush came to shove and you
had one or the other. How many people you think
are taking Game seven over the Super Bowl?

Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
Jared No, Well, it depends on the series.

Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
For example, Magic calves Game seven Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Yeah,
I don't know, not over the Super Bowl's taking that.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Would you here's the question, maybe, would you take Nuggets
Celtics Game seven NBA Finals.

Speaker 1 (01:04:38):
No, you wouldn't. No, you wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
No, I wouldn't because it's the Celtics and the Nuggets.
But if it was Nick's Nuggets, yeah, because I'm yeah,
that's different.

Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
Because the Jets.

Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Aren't going to be in the super Bowl probably till
I'm dead, So I have to choose my words wisely,
or Brian, I only get so many teams in New
York that actually success.

Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
I know, I hear you on that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
Well, speaking of choosing your words wisely, we have a
guy here who does that every single time, and he
mixes it with the.

Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
Dash of comedy as well. Hits our guy, Isaac Blowen Krown.
I Loo, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
Buddy?

Speaker 9 (01:05:16):
Just would like to add a nominee to the best
two words in sports conversation?

Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
That is the new back to you guys.

Speaker 9 (01:05:30):
Uh, you anticipate my massive ego. So remember a couple
of years ago, there was a college football game, I
think it was between Nebraska and Northwestern and Ireland, and
there was a plot. It was a It was a
cashless stadium, so everything, all the concessions were transacted via

(01:05:51):
computer because it was a cashle stadium and the computer
across the stadium broke. So it was literally free beer.
So that's my nominee for the best two.

Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
Yes, free beer.

Speaker 8 (01:06:03):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
I'll be honest. That's on the Mount Rushmore.

Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
Now, hey, beer at beer at the Big House, right,
Michigan's gonna have alcohol there this season. Wow, that's right,
that's right.

Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
So yeah, so the concept of free beer it actually
did happen, albeit across the pond. We will start on
this side of the pond. With Game six of the
Eastern Conference Semifinals on Friday night saw the Indiana Pacers
defeat the New York Knicks one sixteen to one three,
forcing a Game seven at Madison Square Garden on Sunday
in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Friday night, in Game six

(01:06:35):
of the Western Conference semi Finals, the Dallas Stars and
Colorado Avalanche were tied at one in double overtime. Here
was Josh bogarod on k Tck in the corner.

Speaker 1 (01:06:46):
Back for Pavelski couldn't shoot? Clearly, Marchmitt, where is.

Speaker 8 (01:06:49):
It to Shane Beasts?

Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
Who else could it be?

Speaker 7 (01:06:55):
Matt Dushane in Colorado, he's the Avalanche.

Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
Season and he has.

Speaker 8 (01:07:02):
Set the Stars to the Conference Final.

Speaker 9 (01:07:07):
Over in the East, the Florida Panthers headed to the
Conference Finals. There, they eliminated the Boston Bruins in Game six,
two to one. Baseball Friday Night Show, hey O Tani
hit his thirteenth home run of the Dodgers seven to
three win over Cincinnati Giants over the Rockies ten to
five to break Colorado's seven game winning streak to Tigers
one at Arizona thirteen to nothing. Round two of the

(01:07:28):
PGA Championship finishing up as we speak. Round three will
get underway at eleven seventeen am Eastern time, some forty
two minutes from now. Xanders Shopley as the lead of
twelve under overall, with Colin Morrik Howell one shot back
and Scotti Scheffler three shots back.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Fellas all yours, thank you, I Lowe. It is Fox
Sports Saturday here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
You know, Jared, I got a couple of rants. I
got a couple of rants over saw this in the rundown.
I'm curious.

Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
Yeah, I think you might agree with this first one. Okay,
I don't want to lead the witness or anything here.
You tell me how you honestly feel if you disagree
with this, it's totally fine when you look at the
We just had the NBA Draft lottery, right, and so
the NBA draft coming up here in what late June, right,

(01:08:21):
a little more than a month, I think, Yeah, so
you're hearing a lot of Oh, there's this draft.

Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
It's got a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Of good players, maybe some role players, no stars, absolutely,
no difference makers. Maybe a couple of fringe dudes who
can work their way into the rotation. That's typically what
you hear. And here's my thing, how do we know
that exactly?

Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
How do we know that? Think about the NBA playoffs
right now?

Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
Jared, you've got Jalen Brunson, second round pick, who's largely
been sensational. Okay, nobody saw him being a star when
he's a thirty third overall pick. Nicola Jokic late second rounder. Right,
He's been the MVB three of the last four seasons.
He's a champion, they won a title last season. No

(01:09:13):
one expected him to be anything remotely close to a
star player when he was drafted. It was a commercial
break going on the ESPN telecas Yes, a graphic popped
up Nuggets draft Nicola Yo we during a Taco Bell commercial.
That's how little was expected of Nicola Jokic. So when

(01:09:36):
I hear this about the NBA Draft lottery and the
upcoming draft, oh, no stars, no difference makers, maybe some
role players, I'm just like, and we know this, how right,
Like there are typically surprises in drafts, and this could
be another one where there's at least a star.

Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
I hate hearing that.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
I think the draft, the discourse around the NFL and
the NBA draft in terms of grading the players before
they even like put on the hat of their new team,
I think is just you know, for show. It's it's
it's for polish, it's so we can talk about something
on these shows. I do think there's gonna be one

(01:10:20):
of these guys that's gonna be a rock star, an
absolute rock star.

Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
I have no idea who it is.

Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
I don't even know it's gonna be on which team
yet where they fit in. So it's something that we
have to do because we have hours of airtime to fill.
But I agree with the premise that we need to
let these kids breathe a little. Most of them are
like eighteen nineteen years old, Like, can we let them
like be a kid for a minute and enjoy this

(01:10:46):
moment before we're grading them in terms of how what
their entire career is going to play out with.

Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
And I think.

Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
The part of it that I disagree with is we
don't have that transcendent player coming into the draft like
we have had in years prior, like a Weben Yama recently.

Speaker 1 (01:11:04):
You want to go back a little further.

Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Lebron, but it's impossible to grade how good these kids
are going to be before they even get their teams.

Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Yempt No, yeah, and that's the good you know, counterpoint
is and it's not in complete disagreement with the original point.

Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
But give you an example. The Detroit Pistons.

Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Okay, so this is the second straight year they finished
with the worst record. We got hoes man, but they
fell to the number five protal two years in a row.

Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
Now, it hurt them way more.

Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Last year because they could have drafted Wembin Yama. I
get that in this year's draft, there's not a prospect
that looks to be as good as Webbin Yama.

Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
That's totally fine.

Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
I get all of that, But to act like, oh,
there are no stars, no difference makers. For sure, maybe
some good starters, maybe maybe a good role player here
or there. To act like you know for sure who
won't be a star. There have been many surprises, many surprises,
and I'm not saying it's littered with second round gold,

(01:12:13):
but there have been some exceptions over the years, and
you're looking at a couple of them in the playoffs
right here, right now, And Jokic is the best example
of that. He's a three time MVB and he's done
that in the last four years.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
I mean, like, I would love to go back.

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
And see some of the like scouting reports when he
was initially drafted and how little was expected of the
guy and.

Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
Look what it's turned into.

Speaker 2 (01:12:36):
So you can't act like you know for sure that
no one in the upcoming draft is going to be
a star.

Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
Well here's the thing too, And I saw someone tweet
this out.

Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
I think it would have been one of the official
NBA accounts or you know, a media account that covers
the NBA officially. Three out of the top five players
in the prospect rankings are all overseas players.

Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
France, Serbia, all.

Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
These you know countries that you know, you get teams
coming in, you get this kid from France, Alex Sar
is supposed to be the number one prospect, and then
of course we get another Nicola Topch, not Jokic, copch Nice,
who's gonna be a top five and there is another
kid from France to Zacharia. Again, I apologize, I'm butchering
those those accents. I'm not Rudy Gobert all, but you

(01:13:20):
get this international influence and the reason why that is
intriguing to me. Back to the original point about this
NBA count that that tweeted this out recently, The last
six NBA MVPs have all been international players. Jokic three times,
Embiid once, Giannis twice. So the idea that we know

(01:13:43):
what Alex Saar and Nicola Topitch and Zachari are going
to be right, They could be the next MVP of
the league. And I think the reason why that's intriguing
to me the NBA has definitely tilted more towards the
international vibe the last decade. Right, more games overseas, obviously,

(01:14:03):
more international players, more international talent, winning the highest awards.

Speaker 1 (01:14:09):
The game has changed.

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Those players that are more international, they're better fundamental players
than some of the guys that have maybe won the
MVPs in the United States era over the last couple
of decades. Right, Steph Curry, Russell Westbrookjames Harden, Like, those
guys are volume shooters, whereas Giannis, Nicolae, Op Jokich, Joel
Andbi Like, those guys are kind of stat stuffers, triple

(01:14:32):
double kind of guys. You know, guys that can rebound,
that can defend and score, but also be distributors.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
And do the role player thing that, you know, the
little things.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
And I think the game has kind of tilted towards
that where the successful teams like the Nuggets are kind
of the ones that are buying into that team fundamental basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Which is much more common overseas well.

Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
Hey man, we get a game six today, we get
a couple of Game seven's tomorrow, Jared, how about this
a lot of prop bet opportunities. Both of those got
the PGA championship going on. Maybe a little prop bet
opportunities there. We'll compare notes around the corner. How about
this the two second best words in sports?

Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Game seven?

Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
Right, we get a pair of those tomorrow prop bet opportunities.
Would you go along with that two second best words
in sports?

Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
Sure, I'll give you super Bowl because I agree it
is that it is the pinnacle. Yeah, but I do
love me a couple.

Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
At any event.

Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
We'll compare notes with prop bet opportunities left and right.
He's Jared Smith, FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian Nohang with
us right here. It's Fox Sports Saturday on Fox Sports Radio.
It is Fox Sports Saturday right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
Let's dive on into this prop it up player plays.

Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Ah, Yes, so many prop bet opportunity. Jared, We'll start
with you with something you'd like.

Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Yeah, I've been talking about this guy a lot. I
think we talked about him on last week's show, and I'll.

Speaker 3 (01:16:06):
Continue to bring your attention to Jalen Williams, who's I
would call him a point forward for the Oklahoma City
Thunder and his assist number back at four and a half.
It was five and a half at home in Game five.
It didn't go over. Obviously the Thunder didn't play well
in that game. Now back on the road game six tonight,
Dad back down to four and a half, ten potential

(01:16:27):
assists in game five sixty one passes, only three actual assists.
So again we talked about this with Kyrie, right about
a sixty percent maybe call it sixty five percent conversion
rate is the average on those potential assists. Well, Jayla
Williams was a thirty percent in the last game, and
that's incredibly low. So he continues to lead the team
and passes in this series. And Sga has been, you know,

(01:16:50):
the assist leader for the Thunder pretty much all season.
But this guy, Jalen Williams continues to be a distributor
and he plays a position that's not you know, you
don't think about a tower forward as an assist guy.
But the ball pops off of his hands. He's on
the floor a ton. I love over four and a half,
A says, I don't love that they're on the road, right.

Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
Role players usually play better at.

Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
Home, and you need shots to go in for the
assist number to hit. But I just think the number
at four and a half has to be an over.
So I love the fact that we're getting Jalen Williams
four and a half potential or assists today ten potentials
in the last game.

Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
I think he sneaks over this number, and I think over.

Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
Four and a half, Jaylen Williams assists my favorite prop
individual prop play for this thunder Mavericks game tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
I'm gonna stick with the same game here, Jared. I'm
looking at Kyrie Irving, and as fantastic of an offensive
player as he is, he's been held in check in
this series.

Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
They've done a great job.

Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
Okay See is one of the better defending teams in
the league.

Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
They do a great job. They send some tall.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Guys at you, you know, and really mess with your rhythm.
And so I look at okay See and look at Kyrie.
In this series, he scored twenty nine, twenty two, nine
and twelve. That's not what we're used to from Kyrie Irving.
I'm gonna go under twenty and a half points for Kyrie.

Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
He's been under that in four of these five games.

Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
And look, man, he's talented enough where this could absolutely
be terrible advice, But I think the odds that are
in our favor to take the under because you've seen
where at times Kyrie is passive. I remember the last
game where he tried an ally you pass I think
it was Grant Hill on the telecast he was like.

Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
Probably would have been better for him to shoot that one.

Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
So he's been a little bit passive at times, and
I think, Okay, see the other times, it's just done
a great job sending multiple bodies at him, and there
are better shots elsewhere, so he'll move the ball. I'm
gonna take Kyrie Irving under twenty and a half in
Game six here today.

Speaker 1 (01:18:57):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
I think unders are usually they to go with the
star players. The overs to me or their priced pretty
well at this time of year, right, Like Jalen Brunson
stayed under.

Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
Last night even though he eat.

Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
The volume was there for Jalen Brunson. The numbers tend
to be pretty sharp this time of year. I think
if you're gravitating towards the prop market in the NBA,
I do think the NBA props in the postseason is
the best way to play these games. I just think
you have to be cute with the stars like we
did that. You know that reverse correlation parlay. We went
over assist for Kyrie, but under three point makes I

(01:19:30):
think that's.

Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
Kind of the way to play those star players.

Speaker 3 (01:19:33):
And man, if the Mavericks do not get a good
game for one or both of Kyrie and Luca Lamar
or tonight, I maybe it's not points, but but Kyrie's
he needs to be involved then on the ball tonight,
but but he's been more.

Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
Of a distributor in this series.

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
I'll tell you what might be the toughest prop bet
on the board would probably be Josh Hart of the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
His rebounding prop is that eleven and a half. It's
down though, like you're getting a back, like you're getting
a bilo there. If you think he's gonna play the
full allotment, that's the thing is, yeah, you're getting a
bit of a break. It would normally be around thirteen
and a half, at least twelve and a half right
in this series against the Pacers.

Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
So it's a bit of a break. But is it
gonna be healthy? Do you ever play live props in game? Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
Yeah, Oh yeah, I think that's how you play Josh
Hart tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:20:21):
That's good advice right there for sure. Hey, coming up next.
These comments have drawn quite the reaction, and Jared and
I will join the reacting. Oh, welcome in here. Good morning,
hope your Saturday is off to a great start.

Speaker 1 (01:20:36):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:20:36):
I'll tell you what, Jared, we like to have fun.
We like to joke around on this show. You know,
we're talking about batting here and there, But every now
and then there's an adult conversation that enters in the
chat here. How about this chiefs kicker, Harrison Butker. He
has drawn quite the reaction. So he gave a graduation

(01:20:58):
speech at Bennetticteen College. So it's a Catholic school, and
in this twenty minute or so graduation speech, it has
drawn the attention of the NFL, which has distanced itself
from his comments. There were this is the latest. There
are the sisters of Benedictine College that have come out

(01:21:23):
and said, yeah, not really a fan of the comments
during this speech.

Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
I didn't know that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
Yeah, they came out and said, instead of promoting unity
in our church or a nation and the world, his
comments seem to have fostered division. That's a brief portion
of what they put out there, but a taste of
what Harrison Butker was talking about. He basically went thumbs
down on Pride Month and said the LGBTQ plus celebration

(01:21:53):
promotes quote unquote deadly sins, something that has drawn a
lot of attention. And he said, a woman's most important
title is homemaker. And so you can imagine a lot
of people are jumping on that. Yeah, here's the thing, Jared,
here's how I think. First things first, it's interesting to
me how a lot of people will say, hey, these athletes,

(01:22:19):
they can think what they think, they can say what
they want to say, they have the right to voice
their opinions. You typically hear that when those people agree
with what the athlete is saying or standing for. You
don't hear it as much when you disagree completely with
an athlete. But I think the same holds true, right, Like,

(01:22:41):
I think it's interesting how you don't have you hear
this a lot the same energy when you're saying, hey,
these athletes have the right, Like I don't hear as
many people saying that with Harrison Butker, But I think
the same holds true where fundamentally you have the right
to say what you think, and do you have the
right to disagree with what a player says or thinks.

(01:23:04):
But I think it's very different than saying he shouldn't
be allowed to do that. I've never agreed with that
part of it.

Speaker 1 (01:23:10):
I agree with you one hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
So personally I don't agree with with with Harrison's views
of the world, but I'm not one of those people
that isn't open to listening. I think that, and frankly,
gambling has helped me with that, and I hate to
always bring the conversation back to gambling, but the whole
premise of betting is what do I don't I know

(01:23:34):
about this game that I need to know? I have
my opinions. Tell me something I don't know so I
can learn and maybe evolve my opinion. Now, the opinion
that Harrison has is it, I don't want to say antiquated,
but it is a very traditional Catholic viewpoint, and there
are other religions that share similar views. But the division

(01:23:57):
around it seems to be more, I guess, kind of
fake outrage because at the end of the day, it's
not like he's demanding the women in the audience.

Speaker 1 (01:24:07):
Do this right, voicing his opinion right.

Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
And the thing that changes my thought process a little
bit about this story is the reaction now from the
actual entity that invited him to speak right, the fact
that Dave started to distance themselves from Like, I'm not
surprised at all the NFL distanced themselves from it because
they're trying to appeal to a younger audience and a

(01:24:30):
younger audience does not agree with the traditional viewpoints that
Harrison has. But at the end of the day, it's
he went up there and he gave his opinion. And
I'll be honest, I am a fan of passion and emotion.
I think we suppress emotion too much in our society because,
let's be honest, in sports, it ain't cool to have feelings, right,

(01:24:53):
But that's garbage.

Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
Everyone has feelings.

Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
The real people are the ones that can channel those
emotions properly and use them as a positive instead of
a negative. But the thing with Harrison, like it's just
his opinion, and I don't agree with that opinion. But
who am I to say that someone else can't have
an opinion of the world like like that to me
makes no sense.

Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
No, I hear you on that.

Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
And with the NFL, I get why they would say
whoa Heisman post? You know, stiff armed to these comments.
They want to be the epitome of inclusive. Right. Inclusivity,
if you will, right is they want to appeal to everybody.
They want to make a buck off of everybody, regardless

(01:25:39):
of your ethnic background, your your gender, your sexual orientation.
What they want to appeal to everybody, So they will
absolutely say no, not a fan of this if anyone
is speaking ill of a group of people. I totally
get the NFL in their position on this. It's ainly

(01:26:00):
a business position that they're taking here. But I also
think this with Harrison, Butker, look, man, you learn this
over the years, right, is it's not just what you say,
it's how you say it and how you frame it.

Speaker 4 (01:26:16):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
And I think in today's day and age, there's this
tendency to almost want to like swing a sledgehammer because
you've got to cut through. There's so much noise. It's
not easy to cut through and be relevant and be heard.
And I think sometimes you just swing the sledgehammer too
hard and it like recoils and comes back at you

(01:26:39):
and it does more harm than good. Where, for instance,
how you're framing things. When he's talking about women and
the most important title is homemaker, that sort of thing,
a portion he said the women who have been who
have the most diabolical lies told to you, Like, that's
just over the top, you know what I mean, It's

(01:27:00):
too much Where if you frame it differently and say,
I don't know, along the lines of hey, just don't
forget that being married and having children that very well
could be the most rewarding experience in your life. I
think that's different than saying your most important title is.

(01:27:20):
It's just not framed well. And I think in this
day and age, there's not nuance. It's completely black and white.
You don't think, hey, if it's framed differently, how do
I receive this message? You just take it for what
was said, and you're often running and I think that
happens a lot. You've got to be very, very smart

(01:27:41):
and careful with how you frame things because your message
could be lost in the shuffle if you don't frame it.

Speaker 1 (01:27:47):
The right way. Here's where Harrison went wrong. And I
watched the whole speech.

Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
He didn't inject some of his own personal story into it.
It should have been entirely a first person situation. He
should have to these people directly from his point of view.
And I say this in the betting area all the time.
On social media, there's a lot of touts and Twitter
people that are like, don't listen to this person, don't

(01:28:12):
do this, do it my way.

Speaker 1 (01:28:15):
That's not the right approach.

Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
The right approach is to just explain yourself, give your opinion,
give your thoughts and let the market decide if you're
right or wrong. Harrison, instead of preaching your being told,
you you you you're being told, talk about your situation,
my family, my wife, my kids, my life. If you

(01:28:41):
frame it in that point of view, you can never
be wrong. It's your opinion. But when you are forcing right,
when you get stopped on the street by the Jehovah's
witness and they're trying to say, oh, I want you
to do things this way, that's when people tend to
push back. But he was very emotional talking about the
best day of my families, like my wife, my kids.

(01:29:04):
That's fine. But when you start to say you're being
told lies, you need to do this, you need to
do that, and the finger is pointing at the audience,
That's where Harrison went awry here. And Yeah, as you said,
it's not the message, it's the delivery. And that's where
I think we needed to make an adjustment to this one.

Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
Hey, our technical producer Chris Purfett has something on this. Yeah,
if you don't mind.

Speaker 10 (01:29:30):
Just as a practicing Catholic myself, and it was actually good.
I did not know that about the sisters of Benedictine
had spoken up, and I'm proud of them for doing
so on this. It's just it's it's funny because I've
seen kind of in this aftermath people trying to defend
Butker on the on the idea that these are Catholic ideas,
and I they are, but also at the same time

(01:29:51):
they're really not.

Speaker 1 (01:29:52):
It's this is tough.

Speaker 10 (01:29:54):
The Catholic Church has always been an evolving entity, and
I know a lot of American Catholics I want to
hear this sometimes, but Francis is the Pope, and the
Pope is the voice of God, and we are commanded
to follow the voice of God through the Pope, and
some of these ideas are changing, especially in regards to
LGBT and and women in the church, and he takes

(01:30:17):
a view that is a little bit older, and maybe
that's I don't think that's in keeping with church teachings.
At the same time too, but I kind of push
back on people who would say that these are Catholic ideas.

Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
It's like, no, they're not.

Speaker 10 (01:30:34):
They they've been changing, they've been evolving, and that's that's
what kind of like really frustrates me as a practicing
Catholic in all of this also the same time too.
You know, Butker is just a kicker, And to quote
a famous quarterback, we're.

Speaker 4 (01:30:47):
Talking about our picker.

Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
Here's why Jat has been replaced by Harrison Butker.

Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
Yeah, it's kind of true. Here's why I love that
I'm Jewish. I've been told my whole life, you can
only eat certain things. This is kosher, this is not kosher,
this is clean, this is unclean. One of the things,
and all of these rules were set thousands of years ago.
One of the things that we are not allowed to
eat in the Jewish faith if you're kosherre is lobster

(01:31:19):
shellfish because it's dirty.

Speaker 1 (01:31:20):
It's a bottom feeder.

Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
I don't know if you guys have been to a
restaurant lately, lobster is the most expensive thing on the menu.
Like sometimes it's so expensive they don't even.

Speaker 1 (01:31:28):
Put the price on the menu.

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
So these ideals that thousands of years ago, before we
knew anything about fitness, nutrition, all of these things that
we still blindly followed today. Antiquated, frankly is the word
I would use.

Speaker 1 (01:31:45):
Yeah, it's a tricky thing.

Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
Like Chris said, Jared is like I think that there's
so much going on here, I think that I'll give
you someone my background. I grew up Catholic, and I'm
more just Christian now, where I've some of the teachings
of the Catholic Church I don't completely align with. And

(01:32:10):
so like I'll watch church every week. I'm still you know, follow,
I'm still a believer. There are still many things that
are still in me that will never change as far
as my faith or anything like that.

Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
And I think a lot of.

Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
This, Look, I have the philosophy of it's not for
me to decide, you know what I mean, Like, yeah,
I'm not God. God will sort stuff out of who
did what right and who did what wrong, and it's
not up to me. So I think my role is
to be a good person and try to make the

(01:32:46):
world better if.

Speaker 1 (01:32:48):
Possible, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
And I think a lot of times in an effort
to try to make the world better, which is I
think what Harrison Butker his main goal was to do,
I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:32:59):
Think he did.

Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
That's the bottom line is I don't think he succeeded
with that, And so that's where it becomes really really tricky.
I think that his intentions were good, his execution and
delivery were bad.

Speaker 5 (01:33:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
Now that depends on your views and your beliefs in
a whole list of things, and that's where it gets really,
really confusing. But I think fundamentally, when you start saying
this is wrong, these people are wrong, this approach is wrong,
and it's like, I know you're trying to help, and
I know you believe certain things and you think this

(01:33:35):
is the right way and if other people did it,
it would be better. But when you go about it
that way, there's a reason why the sisters of that
college said yeah, no, thumbs down on that whole thing.

Speaker 1 (01:33:48):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (01:33:49):
And again it goes back to just put yourself out there,
talk about it from your perspective, talk about your family upbringing.

Speaker 1 (01:33:57):
And by the way, I think Harrison's mom is.

Speaker 3 (01:33:59):
Like a physicists, like medical physicists for some oncology department,
so it's not like she's this homemaker and I it's
become this and we have this all the time in sports,
and I love it because we get to talk about
it on the show and we get to express our
feelings and our perspectives and I can bring you my
perspective and Brian as his, and Chris of course with

(01:34:20):
his very devout Catholic upbringing. It it's always unique to
hear different perspectives, but when you are talking about it
from the you should do it my way point of view,
you are never going to win. Everyone is very We
live in a very cynical society. If someone is telling
me what to do, I'm probably going to do the opposite.

Speaker 1 (01:34:39):
It's just the natural order of things.

Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
So I always appreciate when someone gives me their unique perspective,
but they don't force their beliefs onto me. And I
think there was We were too leaning into that side
of the spectrum with this particular story. Harrison could have
avoided all of this if he just gave a very
emotion monologue about his life and his upbringing and then

(01:35:05):
left in on the positive. There was too much negative.
There's already so much negative in our society. There was
a lot of negative in that speech. And I don't
know if he could do it all over again, if
he would change it. I don't know what's going on
in his head, but it's obviously caused a bit of
a stir.

Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Oh man, a huge stir. And that's the thing. Man
is put religion to the side. Okay, as best as
you can when he said, you know, these deadly sins
when he's talking about Pride Month right now, really think
about this. Would you be open minded to any sort
of conversation or any potential change or anything like that

(01:35:43):
if someone came at you like that, you know what
I mean, You're gonna be more than defensive about that.
You're gonna be on the offensive. If someone came at
you like that based on how you're living your life,
you know what I mean, Like that's not going to
inspire anything. And I get on the other side, Look,
it's just not acceptable to voice any of these views

(01:36:05):
in this day and age. Whether you think that's right
or wrong, that's just where it is. And so I
can understand the people who have similar beliefs. They're like, yeah,
Budker right on, his jersey sales are soaring because he
has had.

Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
Shaine right, same people who wanted to boycott the NFL
last year, right, right.

Speaker 2 (01:36:22):
But he's saying something that many people that think is
has been silenced is completely inappropriate, that sort of thing
right now, So they're like, finally this guy, and now
it becomes ugly where those people aligned with Budker just
because he said something that's totally unpopular.

Speaker 1 (01:36:41):
But what he said, you.

Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
Would take offense too if his criticisms were aimed in
your direction saying what he said. It's this whole thing, man,
And I just don't think it accomplished.

Speaker 1 (01:36:55):
What he was hoping for. We live in a very
divisive society.

Speaker 3 (01:36:59):
Unfortunately, it is something like this was never going to
go unnoticed, and I think he knew that going in.

Speaker 1 (01:37:10):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
And that's the part about this story that I don't understand,
and I think we hear. There was a promo that
played during one of our commercial breaks. Steve Covino was
talking about it, like do you think one of his
people in his circle, even if they believe, even if
they agreed with his briefs, went through him and was like, hey, listen, Harrison,
I get it. I agree. What's the goal of this, Like,

(01:37:33):
what's your endgame here? Are you trying to cause a stir?
Are you trying to go viral? Because if that's your goal,
then you're gonna accomplish it. If you are trying to
deliver a positive message to the youth of America, that
is not this message. And I think that's the part
about this that bothers me a little bit. I want

(01:37:54):
everyone to feel like they can express their opinions, but
not if the intent had malice behind it. And we
will never know the intent because we're not inside Harrison's
head or in his circle. But there had to be
somebody that said, hey, buddy, listen, you might wanna tone
down the rhetoric a little bit here because this ain't

(01:38:15):
gonna end well in terms of the court of public opinion.

Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
Interesting stuff. He's Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian no.
On a lighter note, man, how about those horrible New
York Giants uniforms.

Speaker 1 (01:38:28):
Huh oh my? How can you make Daniel Jones look
any worse? They figured it out.

Speaker 2 (01:38:35):
It's like you take the Michigan helmets, you know, like
the mazing blue and the design.

Speaker 1 (01:38:41):
That's what the Giants. It's blue, but it's with red.

Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
The Montreal Canadians, like you, grew up all over their
original six unit jersey and he gave it to the Giants.

Speaker 2 (01:38:50):
Ultimates for the cfl Alott's compas right.

Speaker 4 (01:38:53):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (01:38:53):
It's like the have Khakis, you know, it's like Khaki.

Speaker 3 (01:38:59):
It's the heart Carball Khakis Media Yalloettes of the Canade.

Speaker 1 (01:39:02):
Pretty much.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
It's pretty much for the terrible. All right, come it
up next. It's a growing trend in sports. Should more
leagues do the same thing. It's Fox Sports Saturday, right
here on Fox Sports Radio. It is Fox Sports Saturday,
right here on Fox Sports Radio. You know, Jared, we've
got a growing trend in the sports world.

Speaker 3 (01:39:23):
Here.

Speaker 1 (01:39:24):
It would be the in season tournament. Huh.

Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
So we add that in the NBA. We'll now have
it NASCAR, that's right. It'd be a five race in
season tournament. Next year you have thirty two drivers will
compete for a million bucks. Now here's the question, should
more leagues do this? Should Baseball do it? Would you
like to see Major League Baseball have an in season tournament?

Speaker 8 (01:39:50):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:39:51):
To put it out there, I didn't think the n
season tournament for the NBA was great, but you were
against it.

Speaker 1 (01:39:57):
I remember, I was more the exception. People love it.
It gave him a boost, and I was okay with them.

Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
And in eighty two game season, if there's something you're
doing that gets some eyeballs over there, that makes sense
for baseball, Jared, it's one hundred and sixty two game seasons,
long season. There's got to be a way for them
to do it. If they decided this would be good
for them. I think it'd be a good idea for baseball.
I don't think he could really do it in the NFL,

(01:40:23):
which is not enough games. I think he'd be kind
of goofy, agreed, right, But major League Baseball. I think
there could be something there for them to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:40:33):
Yeah, I think frankly, the way I view the D
season tournament for baseball is kind of the home Run Derby.
If that sounds weird at all, like, that's probably super weird,
But I look like that's if you want to ask me, like,
is there something that happens in the middle of the
baseball season that I think is more exciting than the
actual baseball season itself, I would say home run Derby.

(01:40:55):
And maybe that's more from a selfish betting perspective. I've
had success betting on the Home Run Derby for the years.
I think it's one of the I don't want to
say easier events to bet on, but it's definitely easier
than betting on the baseball regular season. That's for dark shore.
I here's why I don't think it would work in baseball,
the teams would not throw their best arms. I don't think, like,
I honestly think the teams would punt on it. I

(01:41:17):
think the teams would say, hey, let's call up some
of the minor league guys and let's get them a shot,
like unless the games actually counted in the actual standings
for the you know, the playoffs like the nd season tournament.
I don't think did Like did that game didn't count
like in the standings?

Speaker 2 (01:41:35):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:41:36):
The which like the championship, like the final game. Oh yeah,
that was the only one that didn't. Yeah, so right,
like and in baseball you have to have like a series.
They're probably like a two out of three, right. My
guess is those games wouldn't count the regular season standings.
Like what incentive would a team had, Hey, Garrett Cole,
go give me your best bullets in an exhibition game

(01:41:57):
in July? Like That's the part I think about baseball,
because the season is so long already and it's such
an attrition sport that I don't know if it would
have the same buzz to it.

Speaker 1 (01:42:08):
But also we do have that Field of.

Speaker 3 (01:42:11):
Dreams game, which I think is kind of in the
in the same zip code as the n season tournament.

Speaker 1 (01:42:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:42:19):
The more that the season played on in the NBA,
the n season tournament became less and less of a thing,
and right, the Lakers won it, and where are the
Lakers now? Sure, I'm just kind of like, eh, maybe
for ratings, yes, but in terms of like actual brass
tax I'm not like fully on board with it.

Speaker 2 (01:42:38):
I think it breaks up the monotony. Yeah, sure, and
especially for the NBA. You're doing that in football season, right, Yeah,
thats tournament was Yeah, so that makes sense. There are
a lot of people that they're just conditioned to I'm
not paying attention to basketball until football season is fully over.

Speaker 1 (01:42:57):
I'm raising my hand right now a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (01:43:00):
So if you can do something to get any sort
of additional attention, sure, I think it's smart. And for baseball,
I hear you on the series thing, But how about
an ND season tournament where it's literally just a single
elimination type thing. We can't we don't have time to
do a series. We don't have time for a three
game series that's not going to count statistically or in

(01:43:22):
the standings.

Speaker 1 (01:43:22):
That's just weird.

Speaker 3 (01:43:23):
How do you like Where do you put it though,
Like with the NBA, you get natural breaks, you know,
you get a few days off of the team like baseball's.

Speaker 1 (01:43:31):
Every fricking day, I know. And there's travel involved. And yeah,
I think.

Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
You'd have to really stretch out the season. And when
you're already going from late March until we play in
like uh, you know, playoff games in the Bronx in
near December.

Speaker 1 (01:43:54):
That's not gonna work. They don't want to do that.
You'd probably have to look at possibly trim the season.

Speaker 3 (01:44:02):
They definitely Then it gets although I do think one
fifty four is where I would put it, but they
don't want to do that.

Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
How about this, how about a central central location there's
no travel involved. We put it in Vegas, the n
season tournament in Vegas. Now, I'm man, every single team
is there, right, we just single elimination. Let's get down
to it. I mean, there's a way to do it.
If you really wanted to degenerate some buzz, break up

(01:44:29):
the monotony, I think there could be something there to
hammer out.

Speaker 3 (01:44:32):
It would be fun. Let's leave it at this. I
am all for evolution in sports. We are very much
set with a lot of these and baseball is the
most traditional of all the sports, and we are so
regimented with baseball. Yeah, I am in favor of tweaks

(01:44:53):
to make the game more enticing. I just don't know
if adding games is this this is the right way.
We're trying to make the season shorter and more compact
so we could see these players in a more heightened
sense of urgency. I just don't know if. And the
players union in baseball I think is I would say

(01:45:15):
it's probably the strongest of all of the sports. Maybe
Basketball because the stars have so much power. NFL is
definitely the weakest. NHL I don't know enough about it
to really classify it, but Baseball union's pretty strong. Like
that's one of the star I would say that's the
strongest of them. And if the players are not on board,
like I just don't know how that occurs, Well.

Speaker 1 (01:45:38):
Think about this, It would take really less than a week.

Speaker 2 (01:45:42):
And if you put it like central location, the whole,
if you're just joining us right now, NASCAR is going
to do an in season tournament. So it got Jared
and I thinking about, Hey, could baseball do an n
season tournament that sort of thing. So let's just say
you put it in Vegas, be a week. I think
there are thirty teams. Let's say you get to buy
one team in the American League, one team in the

(01:46:03):
National League. All right, so you get all those games. Boom,
You're right, you're down to sixteen teams, right then?

Speaker 8 (01:46:09):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
Uh so, and you just play it out sixteen, down
to eight, down to four two one week.

Speaker 1 (01:46:15):
It's five days, five days. You play every day five days. Boom.
Think about that.

Speaker 2 (01:46:19):
If you had every single Major League Baseball player in
the same city and it's like a super week, it
could be fun and it like we talk about this
like there's man, when you get into the dog days
of June, July, August. Let's say you had this thing
right after the NBA Finals in June. I think that'd

(01:46:41):
be a shot in the arm for Major League Baseball.
I agree with that, it would be a shot in
the arm. I'm just I'm a logistics guy. Uh huh.

Speaker 1 (01:46:50):
Like the logistics to me, there's a lot.

Speaker 3 (01:46:52):
Of man, this team's got to come from New York
and Boston and Philly, and then they probably got to
go back to New York or ball Bustin and Philly afterwards.

Speaker 1 (01:47:01):
You're doing that anyway. You know you're doing that anyway
with the course of your season.

Speaker 3 (01:47:06):
Would I would like to see a proposal, and I'd
like to see what the pushback is from the union.

Speaker 1 (01:47:11):
If the union's on board, it would happen.

Speaker 2 (01:47:14):
Yeah, well that's true. The union's not on board. It's
like there's no chance quite a fight. Yeah, I've got
a theory to throw your way, Jared, right around the corner. First, though,
this is not a theory. This is a certainty that
Isaac Lowan Kron is the truth. You thought Paul Pierce
was the truth. That's wrong.

Speaker 1 (01:47:31):
He's borrowing the nickname from Isaac Lowhan Kron. He's got
the latest right here.

Speaker 9 (01:47:35):
Certainly having a better weekend than Paul Pierce, by the way,
if you know what I mean, folks, thank you again
for that kind of introduction, Brian, and let's start with
Game six of the Eastern Conference semi Finals on Friday night,
as the Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks one
sixteen to one h three, forcing a Game seven on
Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Indiana and New York will

(01:47:57):
be meeting in the WNBA today at one pm I'M
Eastern at the Barkley Center, Caitlin Clark and the zero
to two Fever visiting the two N Liberty in the
Stanley Cup Playoffs. On Friday night, the Dallas Stars won
Game six of the Western Conference semi Finals at Colorado
in double overtime, two to one to take the series
four games to two. Matt Dushane of Dallas the series

(01:48:18):
winning goal against this former team. In Game six of
the Eastern Conference semi Finals, the Florida Panthers won at
Boston two to one to take that series four games
to two. Round three of the PGA Championship is finally
underway as we speak. Xander Shopley as the lead of
twelve under par overall. Colin Moricowa is one shot back.

(01:48:39):
Scotti Scheffler is three shots back. They will all te
off around one thirty pm Eastern time and Fellas a
new bit of information for you, w DRB Television out
of Louisville reported a short time ago that Louisville Mayor
Craig Greenberg said this morning that the detective who arrested
Scotty Scheffler yesterday either was not wearing a body camera

(01:49:02):
or did not have it activated when.

Speaker 1 (01:49:04):
He encountered show. That's convenient. That would have been gold
footage right there. What are we doing?

Speaker 3 (01:49:13):
I'll be honest, that's a big red flag for me.
Why you're wearing a bodycam if it's not on?

Speaker 2 (01:49:20):
Well, that's yeah, that's yeah, that's true, definitely true. Fox
Sports Saturday. Right here on Fox Sports Radio. Hey, shortly
after the show, our podcast would be going up. If
you missed anything on today's show, be sure to check
it out. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get
your podcasts. Be sure to also follow rate and review
it again. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get

(01:49:41):
your podcasts. You'll see the show posted right after we
get off the air, just one minute, real fast on.
This makes me think of a tweet we got earlier
in the show. Abigail checked in and wrote, Scotti Scheffler
kept going after the officer told him to stop, and
even after the officer quote unquote attached him himself to
the car, he still kept going. When an officer says stop,

(01:50:04):
you stop, quit making excuses for him. Now here's the thing,
Jared I said the same thing, like, this is not
a suggestion, this is an order. And if Scotty Scheffler
disobeyed it intentionally or unintentionally. It's a thing, right, We
both said, we weren't there. We don't know exactly, so

(01:50:25):
we threw out different possibilities.

Speaker 3 (01:50:26):
Now we don't know because the body so now we'll
never know, yeah, he said, he said, yeah, but hey man,
it could have been one of these things where he
disobeyed an order.

Speaker 2 (01:50:38):
He might not have known it was an order, right,
or he did know. It's one of those two possibilities.
We weren't there, We don't know, but it'll be a
rain Tuesday. It'll probably be reduced.

Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
This is a big has to be because assault of
a police officer is a felony in the state of Kentucky. Right,
I just I And and again I'm not stumping for
Scotty here. I'm not pro golf. I'm pro rules. But
that seems a bit of a that's a that's an
extreme charge for this situation.

Speaker 2 (01:51:10):
Well, it depends, right if the guy attached himself to
the car and Scotty keeps going and the cop falls
down and injures himself, and that's that's a thing. It'd
be like if you went up to a cop on
the street and punched him and he got injured. It's
a thing, right, So if you're in a moving vehicle
and the guy gets hurt, Yeah, I get why you
would have a charge that.

Speaker 3 (01:51:29):
Severe assault to me in implies intent though to me, well,
that's when we get yeah, we get into that's where
it gets money.

Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
Yeah, it gets money for real fast.

Speaker 1 (01:51:40):
How about this. I've got a I've got a theory
for you.

Speaker 3 (01:51:43):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:51:43):
We're getting ready for Game seven. The second two best
words in sports, right, super Bowl are the best. We
cleared that up earlier in the show. But Game seven tomorrow,
Timberwolves and Nuggets. Here's my theory, Jared, I don't think
organizations that give out free chicken for missed free throws

(01:52:05):
have ever won anything. I could be wrong, I could
be wrong. I don't know, but I think about this
with the Timberwolves. So this goes back to it was
Game four, so it's at home, they're getting blown out,
blown out, and the fans are cheering for two missed
free throws from the Nuggets so they can get free chicken.

(01:52:27):
And I just thought, right then, I'm like, I don't
think you guys have wanted anything. Has there been an organization,
where in the playoffs they're still in incentivizing fans to
cheer for miss free throws so they get free chicken.

Speaker 1 (01:52:41):
I could be wrong about this.

Speaker 3 (01:52:42):
Miss on purpose? Didn't the guy miss on purpose and
he did? That was great bo By.

Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
That was it was the Rockets against the Clippers, and
he missed the first free throw and he started looking
at the crowd. He's like, all right, this is for you.
I'm gonna miss on purpose and you get free chicken.
That was the regular season, right, it was the regular
season when he did that. These are the playoffs, bro,
Could you imagine and the Knicks haven't won anything in
a long time. Can you imagine the garden The Knicks

(01:53:10):
are getting worked by thirty points tomorrow and they're still
screaming and cheering for free chicken. Really, you haven't won
anything If you still do that in the playoffs, you can't.

Speaker 1 (01:53:22):
Yeah, you can't.

Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
I think I saw that Seattle. I think it was Seattle,
one of the baseball teams. I think it was the
Mariners are doing a thing where they drop hot dogs
that saw to the people.

Speaker 1 (01:53:35):
That's great.

Speaker 3 (01:53:36):
I mean, you've got to be creative when you're trying
to engage with the fan base. I think in the postseason, though,
you don't need to be creative to get people excited
about the game.

Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
In the game, that is the excitement part. I went
to a Pelicans game just a few weeks ago. They
were doing the same thing. It might have actually been
Game four when they were about to get swept Jared,
They're still cheering free chicken in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (01:54:03):
People love free stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
I'm doing this new thing on Twitter where I'm giving
away money when I win my bets. You'd be so
nobody interacts with my tweets when I just send them out.
But when I say, hey, if this bet wins and
you like the tweet, you're getting free money, Well then
it's like a race to like the tweet first.

Speaker 1 (01:54:21):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:54:21):
Hey, man, no disagreement here. People love free stuff. But
if you're like, hey, we know it's the playoffs, they
should be invested anyway, but let's just add the extra
incentive a free chicken.

Speaker 3 (01:54:36):
It's like, bro, Well, here's the thing about Minnesota's game
the other night. So because Minnesota was down in the
series and kind of you know, vibes were low. The
ticket prices from what I heard you know from a
friend who you know is very close to that.

Speaker 1 (01:54:50):
You know that team.

Speaker 3 (01:54:51):
We're relatively moderate for a playoff game, which allowed a
lot of the rabid, screaming, crazy fans who are you know,
maybe not as high income as some of the more
corporate fans into that building and you saw the result.

Speaker 1 (01:55:03):
I mean, that place was a frenzy the other night
it was.

Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
It was a lot of fun. Right, We've got a
Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No coming up next.
We got some picks to make. Will it include the
NBA playoffs?

Speaker 8 (01:55:16):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (01:55:16):
Game six tomorrow? Our game six today?

Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
I should say, MAVs hosting OKAC, a pair of Game
seven's tomorrow, could be golf, A lot of stuff to
throw hockey baby. We'll have three picks for you right
around the corner. It is Fox Sports Saturday, right here
on Fox Sports Radio. It is Fox Sports Saturday, right
here on Fox Sports Radio. Props to the crew, our

(01:55:40):
producer Shay Mogan guard hanging out with us today.

Speaker 1 (01:55:44):
Great job.

Speaker 2 (01:55:44):
Chris Burfett, technical producer, actually made a cameo on today's show.

Speaker 1 (01:55:48):
Well played, Chris, Very well done by Chris.

Speaker 2 (01:55:51):
Isaac Low and Kron Crushing the updates, Crushing Life, Top
of the Hour, up on Game, LeVar Arrington, TJ. Hushman's
out of Plexico Bird keep it locked right here on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
We got some picks to make. Let's do it.

Speaker 4 (01:56:08):
Rapid fire.

Speaker 1 (01:56:10):
All right, Jared, we'll start with you.

Speaker 8 (01:56:11):
What do you like?

Speaker 3 (01:56:12):
Well, I'll start in the hockey world, because we've got
a very interesting game tonight, a Game six in Edmonton
between the Oilers and the Canuts. I don't bet a
ton of hockey, but I have been watching this series
pretty closely, and I'll be honest. The Oilers were a
big nothing berger in Game five. I thought they had
a chance to maybe win that game, but but Vancouver

(01:56:34):
really went across the finish line. So we're gonna we're
gonna bank on this series going seven. Like best two
words in sports, or as Brian say, the second second
best two words in sports. I had to throw that
in there at the end here. But the Oilers are
like a two dollars favorites. So we're not gonna bet
Edmonton straight up. We're gonna bet them to win in regulation.
And that's how you get a little more value sometimes
in the NHL markets for a big favorite, you you

(01:56:57):
kind of reduce your ability to win the bet by
only saying they're gonna win in regulation. So we don't
want overtime here. We want the Oilers to win in regulation.
It's about minus one twenty five over at at MGM.
But I do think we see a game seven in
this series. Edmonton takes care of business on home ice tonight.
And I'll give you those NBA props because I'll be honest,
I was skiring the baseball markets today. Don't love a
ton in the Urfi nurfy world, but I really like

(01:57:20):
these props, and I gave him earlier in the show,
and I'm gonna use him in.

Speaker 1 (01:57:23):
A rapid fire here. I'm kind of double dipping, but
I do think.

Speaker 3 (01:57:26):
Jalen Williams over four and a half assists. I mean,
this dude is a point forward. The number was five
and a half at home. We got a bit of
a discount because the thunder didn't play well in that game,
and now it's back down to four and a half.
I love him going over. He leads a team in
passes in this series and in Kyrie Irving as well.
Incredible distribution numbers in this series for Kyrie Irving not
looking for his shot as much more of a passer.

Speaker 1 (01:57:49):
So Kyrie Irving over five and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:57:51):
Assists, Jalen Williams over four and a half assists, and
the Oilers to win in regulation in Game six tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:57:58):
Okay, good stuff. I'm going to start it off with
hoops tomorrow. Game seven. Two second best words in sports.
Jalen Brunson. Give me over thirty five and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:58:15):
Love it.

Speaker 1 (01:58:16):
He had five points in the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:58:18):
He ended with thirty one yesterday, Jared, he's hunting Andrew nemhard.
I think that Jalen Brunson comes to play in a
Game seven, I think he's gonna be very hard to stop.

Speaker 1 (01:58:30):
Give me over thirty five and a half points for him.

Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
I am going to fade the Indiana Fever. I'm taking
it to the WNBA, all right.

Speaker 1 (01:58:41):
I like the w We're going back the w LOT
this summer.

Speaker 2 (01:58:44):
Yeah, there's just no match for the New York Liberty.
I'm gonna lay, Jared. It's a high number. I'm gonna
lay thirteen and a half. The Indiana fever is just
they're not about that life just yet. Okay, so I
think Sabrini Yadescu and the girls smack him around again.
Briennas do it at a huge game the other day
against the same opponent, So think it happens again. And

(01:59:04):
let me go to baseball here for the last one.
The Oakland A's have had a heck of a time
scoring runs here lately. Yeah, they cannot score. So I
am going to go with the Kansas City Royals. Give
me them on the run line minus one and a half,
okay against Oakland is what I'm gonna go with here.

Speaker 1 (01:59:22):
Did you think nerfy with them at all? Jared, I
know you're yeah, yeah, I've been doing this. We're so.

Speaker 3 (01:59:27):
MGM has this thing where you can take individual teams
and do the nerfy, and so I these days because
it's hard sometimes and I tweak this out a lot.
It's hard sometimes to get both pitchers right on the
nurfy because it's sometimes like only a good matchup on
one side. But I do have the A's in my

(01:59:48):
nerfy lay is what I call it nurfy parlay, and
they are a minus three point fifty not to score
in the first inning today. I've paired them up with
a couple of other bigger favorites, but yes, I do
think Seth Lugo.

Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
He's made some tweaks to his game. He has been
fantastic for the Royals so far this year. He has
been and man, the Cubs Ace is going today as well. Yeah, yeah,
in Minaga.

Speaker 3 (02:00:12):
You go over strikeouts today for sure against the sastic man, Jared,
I'm sorry Rich's picks.

Speaker 1 (02:00:19):
Rich not with us today. He'll be back next week,
but he's going.

Speaker 2 (02:00:22):
Okay, c plus the three and a half today, he's
got the t Wolves plus five and a half and
the Knicks minus doing alright, man, we'll see if they
can pull it out and then get wrecked by Boston
