VJ.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
The beautiful thing about having this shift, this shift in particular, sir,
right this one eight to eleven Eastern, five to eight
Pacific on Saturdays, is every Saturday just about we get
to see the big time players, the people that move
the needle in college football. We're either watching them in
this window or we're the first to react to them.
(00:52):
Last week, we were watching Alabama and Georgia in that
first half, talking about how the Crimson Tide looked like
the best team in the nation, talking about how Jalen
Milrow looked like one of the I mean, just you
know you had nel Kyper putting them in the one
dot one. In terms of the NFL Draft, all of
a sudden they walk into where's Vanderbilt Nashville? They walk
(01:14):
into Nashville, Tennessee. All of a sudden they come out
there and they get their country assles.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Whoop. Yeah right, because that was Look.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I watched that whole game sitting at that up think
that's VJ. I don't care what the point spread was.
I know Alabama was prohibitive favorites. I watched that game.
Vanderbilt pushed Alabama around from start to finish. They deserve
the right team won today.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Yeah, not only that. First of all, was going on, brother,
how you doing man? How's everybody out there doing it? Radio?
Listening to land Fox Sports Radio, Martin VJ is always yes,
just when you think it's safe to rest on a Saturday,
just when you think it's safe to get an extra
midday nap in just where you think it's safe to
just you know, kind of take it easy on a Saturday,
especially for me coaching two big TOM varsity games out
(02:01):
here in Calli last night, winning both of them. Shout
out to the Birmingham Patriots, setting the record for the
most City Inner City LA Conference wins in a row
at forty three. So that was big and we partied
hard last night, so I got a little extra nap
and then I wake up in about the second quarter
and I cut on the Alabama game just to see Martin.
I just want to see jely Melrow like he's the guy. Right.
They have a bunch of weapons on office. They had
(02:22):
a seventeen you're you're a freshman receiver. The kid can't
buy tobacco, you know what I'm saying, Like, the kid
can't buy a black and Mount, can't buy a pack
of cigarettes. Fors and forest Grandma and take it back
to the house. It's amazing the athletes that they have there.
And then the Boer, a very good coach that took
Washington and turned Washington around and got him to a
national championship game, got Panics drafted in the top ten,
(02:43):
got Roma Dunes they drafted in the top ten, and
then he goes to Alabama. You think they're gonna have
this fall off, and then they just start on a blitz.
And then last week at Georgia, as you said, we're
sitting here, we're watching the game live and they are
blitzing Georgia. Now it's funny because after you left is
when Georgia took the lead. So Ian and our great
er super producer, Ian, we're in the room. I just
quietly looks up at me and he goes VJ. Georgie
(03:05):
just took the lead with this smirk on his face,
and I turned around. I look at the team scrumb like,
holy bleep, okay, game on. They hold on and win,
and then of course all the love Monday and all
week long is about how great Alabama is. But the
great Chris Berman who once looked at me in my
face at a Thanksgiving dinner house party back at Connecticut
and said, you're in the wrong business, buddy, When I
(03:25):
told him I was in commission sales and we were
sitting there talking sports. He family once said this is
why they played the games, and this is why you
do play the games. And not only did they get
pushed around Martin that system that they run. You can't
do that with a freshman, right, you can't do that
with a sophomore. It has to be somebody that has
been there, been in that system. There's a lot of
moving parts. It's almost like Mike McDaniel's system with the Dolphins, Right,
(03:49):
you have to have a certain type of guy all
the play action, all the ball movement, all the ball fakes.
Everything has to be perfect. You're an inch away from
a running back bumping the ball with his elbow and
it being a fumble in the backyard, you know, in
the backfield. Excuse me, It's just so much that goes
on in Jaylen mill rob believe nineteen or twenty five,
three something due to air. Two total touchdowns, one on
the ground. He played five. But Martin, did we talk
(04:11):
about Bama's defense? Then we talk about Bama's defense about
two years ago? Well that first started this show.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
One of the things that when we first retalking, when
Bryce Young was there and I was telling him, right, look, man, I.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Am not doubting Nick Saban.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Exactly I'm saying in this moment is that I see
a team that is not very disciplined on the defensive
side of the ball. How many they were giving off
many many first downs through defensive penalty and it was
I know it sounds crazy now, but back in the day,
Bryce Young was really really good at quarterback.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Like the NFL thing, it hasn't worked out yet, but
in Alabama he was undeniable and at that time he
was putting the team on his back in a way
that we just weren't used to seeing out of saving teams. Right,
most of the time, we're saying the collective be greater
than the whole. For these saving teams where you're looking, man,
look at the embarrassment of first some second round players
that they got coming out of That wasn't the case.
(05:03):
It was like, no, this team is getting by it
because Bryce Young is doing Heisman level stuff on a
regular basis. That's what Jalon Milroe did yes last week.
And Jalen Melroe even as well as you did, play
had a strip tack fumball yep, had a pick six.
That's not Heisman, No, it's not.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
And I tell you this, this is an embarrassing loss
for Alabama. It's an embarrassing loss. And let me explain
that it's not the fact that it's Alabama and Vanderbilt.
It's where Alabama is right now. It's where Alabama's been
right now. If this happens back before Sabin gets there
or when Saban first gets there, it does not shake
the world the way that it shape the world today.
But once again, we were just praising Alabama as possibly
(05:42):
being the best team in the nation. You cannot go
on the road. This is Michigan. This is Michigan, Appalachias State.
To me, this is Tyson Buster Douglas. You if you're Bama,
you do not lose to Vanderbilt in football. I don't
really care what year it is, but because it's this year,
a Heisman Trophy candidate type quarterback, a college coach that's
(06:04):
come over from Washington and really just kept this offense humming.
It's just the championships they won in the past, the
conference championship, the winning plass and then coming off of
blowing the doors off of Georgia and in Georgia kind
of righting the ship and making the competitor game keeping
it late. But you can see their defense isn't the
same as been which I mentioned last week. They the
last two years, three years, their defense has been monstrous.
This year it's not the same defense. They don't have
(06:26):
the same jimmies and joes. But to me, this is
a bad, bad, bad loss for Alabama. But it's more
of an embarrassing loss for Alabama because you just don't
go to Vanderbilt. This is at Tennessee, maybe at South
Carolina or something. But Vanderbilt absolutely right. Now, do I
think Bama can bounce back? Of course, they have players,
(06:47):
they got coaches, they got pedigree, they got tradition, They
have the better players in the nation. But walking away
from this game today, I do not want to be
on that bus back to the airport, and I do
not want to be on that flight heading back to
Tuscaloosa from Nashville.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Say, it's embarrassing, I would say, if I'm Alabama fan,
right now.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
I'm worried. Really, I'm worried. Well, the defense is the defense.
You got have to outscore people all year long. Well,
here's the thing I watched.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
You know, if I'm Alabama, this is the first year
without Nick Saban, right, first year without the best college
football coach that we've seen.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, okay, now, so you're moving into that. I mean,
think about it. We're Michigan fans. We're moving into a
new era of coach. Like, it's a whole new You
hope to be able to keep up what you used
to be able.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
To do, but there's a different guy in charge. Therefore,
it's gonna be a different type of vibe. Right, It's
gonna be a whole different thing. Then you come out
week what was that four of college football season, and
you are punching Georgia in the mouth, the other preeminent
SEC program in the time, in the last you six
to seven years, the team that has been Alabama's biggest
(07:53):
competition in SEC championship games and for national titles. Really
Georgia Bulldogs, that's the who it's been. You are pounding
them into submission in.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
The first half. Then he let go of the row. Okay.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Then you come out and you play four bad quarters
against Vanderbilt. This is six bad quarters of football that
if you didn't have a lightning strike seventy five yard
touchdown in which Ryan Williams jumped up in the air,
did a pear of wet mess, stopped, made two dudes
ring into each other like he's Mike Vick right, and
then go up the sideline score a game. When he touchdown.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
You if they without that play, that's smartness, not a
great course a bad football. It's not a great throw.
The receiver makes to play mirror put it where pe
just got shot the game a shot, He game a
shot and the kid and the kid took the shot
and went and scored. So that's what you're asking for
pretty much in those type of late game moments. But
the point remains, yo, hold on because that that game
(08:45):
versus Georgia. If I'm Alabama, I should have won that
game forty four to ten and maybe fifty. We were
in here debating on how many points they were gonna
put in the second half. Ian and I were talking
about the yard is. I thought probably five to fifty five,
you know, five and five fifty yards because they had
like what three eighty something almost four hundred and a
half hit. So that's you know, that's what I'm saying.
I will be a little worried because just at halftime
(09:06):
a week ago, I remember saying it to Steve so look,
Steve to say, you're up deadic He said, do you
notice the difference between Alabama?
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Do you see a difference. I'll tell you what. The
last six quarters, now I see a difference.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Yeah, in the last two games, they've given up forty
and thirty four points. That is alarming now in South
Carolina coming in and then they turned right around. They're
at Tennessee and then home for Missouri who got slacked
to Texas A and M. Today. So you talk about
a day when you look at once again you talk
about that, you look at the schedule and you go, uh, okay, honey,
let's go to the Apple right, Yeah, yeah, honey, can
(09:41):
we can we go to home depot? You know what? Yeah,
this is as long as we're back honey by like one,
one thirty. The nine am games aren't gonna be that much.
And then the afternoon game, the Bama's at Bama's at Vanderbilt,
like they're gonna crush them. I mean, and you and
you come home and you click the TV on and
it's holy bleep, what is going on? But that, Martin,
that's what makes football so great because it's the one
(10:02):
sport you just can't win on paper, like in baseball,
right Martin, Let's get real, if you have the dominant
pitching staff and you have half of a better lineup
than the other team, you're probably gonna beat that team
most times, right, Like, just on paper, you're gonna beat them.
In hockey, if you have one of the top three
or four net miners in the game that's giving up
two point zero nine goals, again, you're probably gonna win.
(10:23):
On paper. You're gonna win that basketball. Just give it
to Kevin Durant, Give it to Kobe, give it to Jordan,
give it the magic. Let your stars be stars. In football,
it takes all eleven on offense, all eleven on defense,
all eleven on special teams to win a football game.
And you gotta play all four quarters. And when you
(10:44):
don't do that and you get a team a chance,
you give them a little confidence. Vanderbilt's going in this
game is two and two. Now, in the locker room,
I'm pretty sure there's a guy, maybe five or six,
they think, hey, we got a shot to win today. Guys,
I guarantee you most of that team does not really
legitimately think they are going to win that football game today.
(11:05):
But you let a team hang around long enough that
you should be pounding into the ground, you give them confidence.
Next thing you know, a block gets missed, as Martin
already mentioned, you get a strip sack fumble, you throw
a bad pass on the pick six. Now this team's
feeling good, and you think you can just kind of
lock it back in. There's no such thing.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Man.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
You're either locked in from the kickoff or you're in
for a dogfight. When you're in for a dogfight, it's
a coin flip. So that was the.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Big news of the day. Alabama downs by Vanderbilt. There
will be a new AP number one, top ten team.
We will see who it is coming.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
To There, there goes my there goes my question. A
few weeks ago enough, where's all the big early college
football stories? Right?
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Yeah, here we are spoiler It will be Texas. Texas
will be back at the number one spot. Coming up next,
though this wide receiver number one likely will not be
with his team going forward. Where's the best to go?
And is he a difference maker? We'll get to that

except for old Elon. Yeah, DJ is at the Big

Oh VJ. You'll love this. I know, I see it.
The sauce and wings. Now he's got us on the
speakers and Doyer baseball on the Tube's sorry good, Doyer's good?
Do he started just a little bit that's on that
fest one. I don't know, man, I'm so excited to
watch that series. I'll watch when I get home tonight.
But it's up on the TVs here. But well, I
check it out though. But I love this right here
(13:31):
because he him and I talk about cooking. You know,
I post all my food on social media, and he
always comments on him and and wait and how he'd
be getting down. So he do be getting down. I
see you sauce in them. A little more sauce, though,
be just a little more sauce that left picture. They
look a little ashy. I need you to get a
little more sauce on them. And they but they look
delicious stuff all right. Time for a round of applause. Okay,
(13:52):
why why is this coming to me? I feel like
it's coming. Congratulations to VJ Hus, Thank the big vanilla
funny known soothsayer and teller of the future. Thank you.
He said it months ago. Fuck it was months ago,
he said. Devonte Adams walks the hell here it sure enough.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Now, I won't say I refuse to say that Antonio
Pierce liking a Instagram post was the straw that bokes
the Campbell's bag.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
But I will say VJA words I have that said often.
You were right. That's all goodness, Yes, And I was
waiting for this when this happened. I was actually on
a treadmill. I was waiting. I was waiting for this
that I was on a treadmill at the gym when
it broke. When it brought it. You know, TV's up
in front of you in his Ravens. You know DeVante
(14:40):
Adam at Tel team, he re courts to be traded,
and then they the next day they responded by they're
telling teams they're willing to trade him. I I told you, guys,
he this. He's not gonna play nice. But you can
see on the documentary receiver, any team leader or any
veteran or good player who knows that there are hundreds
of cameras on and if there are hundreds of microphones
(15:01):
around because they are recording and filming something that they're
gonna put together and put on TV. Still on the
sideline saying some of the stuff he was saying, told
me right then and there, he don't want to be there.
And he was playing the Seeds back then, and you
could see this coming. He's also towards the end of
his career, the end of his prime. I would say,
I don't think the end of his career, but I
(15:22):
think he's towards going towards the end of his prime.
I don't blame a receiver for wanting to play with
a good quarterback. He doesn't have one in Vegas, and
he's played with one that was his damn nears, his
best friend play the college together Fresno State. Wives are
best friends, kids play together. And then he played with
a first ballot Hall of Famer when he came into
(15:42):
the league. So that was rookie years. Devis Adams was
walking in, walking in to Aaron Rodgers and his that's
when he was discount MF double check. Okay, that's when
he was the guy. It was him and Brady Peyton
was kind of coming out, Big Ben was kind of
moving out. It was a rod and it was Tom
(16:02):
freaking Brady. So at this point, why not make a stink?
Why not one out of town? The Raiders are going nowhere. Now,
the second part to this question, I'm sure coming up
in a minute, is where the best fit from. I
have an idea, but I'll let you I'll let you know.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
I'll say put it in drive instead of reverse. All right, cowards,
let's go forward.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
With all that being said, And honestly, from my sports
talk heard, I appreciate both of you for that. Thank
you very much. Now it's not the bum ass Jets,
and that's not because I got something against the bum
ass Jets. But the Saints are the team where I
think he should end up wanting to go. They're in
much better position, they have a much better flow offensively.
(16:42):
Other than the Eagles game. The Eagles have a very
good defense. But I just think that he's better off
playing with Derek Carr now than with Aaron Rodgers. Now.
I'm not going to bang on the Bronco game because
I'm still in shock. I am I dog, trust me.
I went back and watched that game and was like,
what the hell happen Aaron Rodgers? As I said about
(17:04):
Russell Wilson three years ago, And I'll go out on
the limit. Just throw it out there now. I don't
think it's a big secret as far as being a
winning type quarterback and a factor in you being a
contender in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers is done. He's done
with that part. Yes he will still throw a pretty ball, Martin. Yes,
he'll still make a throw from time to time to
(17:25):
make you go wow man and Rodgers, I just God,
look at that guy. He's not consistently that quarterback anymore. Now.
They have some other weapons there that will help out.
But I just think it's an easier division. I think
they're better fit. I think they probably I will go
fifty to fifty as far as the Saints and Jets
defense both go. But if I'm him, you want to
(17:47):
go play with a familiar face. I much rather go
play with Derek Carr right now than go play with
an agent Aaron Rodgers. And I think this could be
Aaron Rodgers' last year as a bona fide starting quarterback.
Why would you want to even try to fix that
and end with them at I got him in the Nor,
I got him as a Norman saying yeah, I mean,
I would say, I don't hate your analysis. Uh, there's
(18:08):
a better word for that. I like your analysis.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Quords matter, words matter, I'd say, though, If I'm the
Jets and I'm all in on Aaron Rodgers and it
just seems as if they have been We'll get to
this also a little bit when we talk about this game,
I would be doing everything I could to get to
Vonta Adams because if I'm all in on Aaron Rodgers
at this point, it's almost like, like like Slim Charles
said in the Wire, if it's a lie, we fight
(18:32):
on that lie, like been smart. This may not have
been the best decision, but we are here now keep
the lie lie exactly and there's only one way forward,
and that is that way, right, that is Aaron all
the time.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
This is where we are, this is where we're going.
I said too, like, I don't think that.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
We just have to listen to what Devanta Adams says, like,
I don't know how much of a quote unquote stink
he really made in Vegas. Like remember when Josh McDaniels
was fired, just what less than oh he had a party.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
No, DeVonta Adams was was singing the praises.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Of Antonio Pierce, talking up Antonio Peers, saying how he
thinks Antoniopre should get the job, so on and so forth.
That is also at the same time that of the
of the documentary stuff, that all that is happening concurrently, right,
So I don't think that anton I do not think
that Devanta Adams like walked down Lockam, threw his helmet down.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Hes like I will never play for me all again.
You know, I don't think it was a contentious thing
or anything like that. He's just like, no, listen, I
told y'all when I got here, I wanted to play
with my buddy. That's why I'm here. That's why why
you're here, That's why I'm here. It's to play with
my pal. Then y'all benched him, cut him everything else unceremoniously.
(19:49):
Now he's playing somewhere else balling. Well, guess what, I
still want to play with my buddy, right like I
didn't want now now I think I want to play
with any of these dudes here. How about to say, now,
if the situation was different, maybe say his starting quarterback
was I don't know, Justin Herbert it's right right, and
O'Connell ye, sorry, team aidendall. So we'll say that that
(20:14):
you know the quarterback was though it was Justin Herbert
or Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson, something that I think
he'd probably be good with the Stephen Baker Mayfield. But
it's not.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
It's not, it's not.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
It's like, look, y'all just didn't deliver on what the
deal would right now. You could I even imagine that
the six and eleven Raiders with Devons Adams and Derek
Carr de vont Adams would be a happy soldier.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
He probably would be. Probably were crazy, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Because he said this is what I want and at
thirty one years old at the time to make that move.
He was twenty nine years old, what eight years in
the league's nine years in the league by that point,
like it was a level of no, no, no, no, no.
I know what I want in football, I know what
I want, and this is what I want. To give
me what I want. And then they decided to not
to do that.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Yeah, not only did they decide not to do that,
they this team. It's just Antonio Peers. I not have
to say this because I love the guy I do
and I hate giving variables when I give an opinion
about somebody because I don't feel like I should have
to do that. But he might be a little in
over his head as a head coach. I love that
the brother got the shot, but that doesn't mean that
(21:22):
you just have to continue to say. No, he's doing great,
he's doing great, he's doing great. Hons. This is one thing.
Then what's next. It's the Raiders, right, so you know
something's coming next. This isn't going to be the end
of the story because whatever deal they make to get
him out of town, then we got to analyze that deal.
Did they get enough for him, did they give up
to you know, did they get enough back or did
the other team give up too much for him? Like,
(21:43):
right now, if I'm a team right now, I'm not
giving you a first for DeVante Adams. He don't want
to be there, so why would I give you that?
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Well, just do you remember when they reported that he
first he wanted to be traded. Then the next day
it came out that the Raiders were seeking a second
round pick. I think that's because everybody's offering third and fourth.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, he's not getting a second. You're not getting a
second round pier. He doesn't want to be there, So
I don't have to give you what you want. You're
gonna take what I give you, and you're just gonna
give them up. That's the way this game goes. Coming
up next, we will talk about Look, these two teams
were just in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Now five four weeks in through the season. Yeah, have
two wins combined combined? Which team has a better shot
of turning it around? We'll get to that coming up next,
But first, Steve de Sega, Steve, you're up.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Hello, gentlemen.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
What an upset we had in college football today at Vanderbilt.
The Commodore has beat Number one ranked Alabama forty to
thirty five. First time an AP number one team has
lost as a three touchdown favorite since two thousand and eight,
twhen USC lost at Oregon State again, this time in
two thousand and eight. You might remember when Mark Sanchez
(22:54):
and Fox was the quarterback of the team that SC
team finished.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Twelve and one.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
This was the one loss that you and it was
against an Oregon State team that wound up being in
the top twenty that season. Vanderbilt with just a stunning
victory Jalen Millrod two touchdowns two turnovers in the loss.
Alabama was number one this week for the one hundred
and fifth time since nine when Nick Saban won the
first of his six national titles. There top ten wins
(23:21):
for Ohio State, Georgia, and Penn State, but number nine
Missouri was beaten up at number twenty five Texas A
and M forty one to ten A and M three
and zero in conference, so ahead of Georgia at Alabama.
Number twelve. Old miss wins twenty seven to three at
South Carolina number twenty three. Indiana won again forty one
twenty four at Northwestern, and SMU got a victory at
(23:43):
number twenty two Louisville thirty four twenty seven in progress.
Late second quarter. Number fifteen Clemson led seventeen nothing. Early
It's now seventeen to seven at Florida State, which could
be one and five after tonight. Guys, we have talked
about the running back from Boise which is ranked twenty
first in the country. By the way, Ashton genty on
(24:04):
ten carries, has one hundred and sixty five yards rushing
and three scores in the first half. Boise State leads
Utah State second quarter forty two to seventeen. Early second
quarter at Arkansas, Hoggs over number four Tennessee three to nothing.
Washington at home leads number ten Michigan fourteen to nothing
in the second quarter. Usc ranked eleventh, has just taken
(24:26):
a seven to nothing lead at Minnesota mid second quarter.
On Fox TV, it's Baylor ozho and two in conference
leading at number sixteen Iowa State fourteen to six in
the second quarter. The late game on Fox, by the way,
will be Texas Tech at Arizona eleven PM Eastern time. Also, Miami,
ranked eighth, plays at Cal late tonight. To Major League Baseball,
(24:46):
it's just about to begin on FS one, another division
series opener, this time the top seeded Dodgers hosting San
Diego Yoshinobu Yamamoto against Dylan Cees. The Padre starter and
Yes first baseman Freddie Freeman is starting for LA. The
Yankees are in progress and now leading four to three
against the Kansas City Royals in the top of the six.
(25:07):
Yankees got two bases loaded walks in the fifth to
go ahead. Garrett Cole, after five plus innings, has just
come out of the game. Earlier, it was a win
for Cleveland seven nothing over Detroit Guardians five runs in
the first inning, and the Mets magical season continues a
six to two win at two seed Philadelphia. The Mets
were down one nothing going to the eighth CODEI Senga
(25:30):
came back to start and give him two innings todight.
He had missed a couple of months with a calf injury,
and this note from the NFL. Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson
was downgraded to doubtful for tomorrow with a hip injury,
So Joe Flacco could be starting back to.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
You, thanks Steve right now Aston j ten carries one
hundred sixty five yards VJ Now, I'm no mathematician, But
that's sixteen and a half yards of carry. Yeah, like
six teen and a half yard to carry for a
running back with three touchdown.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yeah, yeah, I mean he's phenomenal. I'm watching that game.
What I go back and rewatch that game last week.
His first touchdown run guys where he hits the middle.
He literally runs through three guys. This is a college guy.
This isn't even a pro guy. And Steve said last week,
you talk about a guy at five nine and two
twenty two, twenty five. But his breakaway speed once he
got to the second level and punched it in the fifth,
(26:26):
there's two dbs that have an angle on him, and
you can see within the first three strides they have
no shot. But quick sidebar alex Orgy has been benched.
Jack tuttles into the game for the Michigan Wolf Raines.
They go right down the field, bam bam, bam, touchdown
fourteen to seven up at Washington out here on the
West coast. So uh, we'll keep an eye on that
(26:47):
also too. But yeah, this kid, gents man, he's phenomenal.
Whoever gets him. I thought Jon Robinson would be with
this kid. Probably is gonna end up being in the NFL. Yeah, will,
because I want Bejon to be like this, like a
Marshawn Lynch kind of guy, and I just don't see
it from him yet.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
You know what else makes the gent thing so impressive
is the fact that every week he is who like
the deft coordinator, like, stop this guy. He's all they
had to, dude, just stop this guy. Do everything you can't.
You can't still at half time is rushing for like
two hundred yards.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
This is Adrian Peterson, This is Marshall Fault, this is
this is La Daney and Tom Lissen. This is those
guys in college, Garrison hers Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson. That's
I'm not saying he's those guys, but when they were
in school, that was that was it for them. Stop
Garrison Hurst, Oh two hundred and fifty, Stop Marshall Fall
two hundred and seventy five, Stop Danny and Tomlinson two
hundred and thirteen. It's just they just you can't do it.
(27:39):
To your point, uh Ian, right now, looking at the
box score, there's not a receiver or there's no player
right now on Boise State's offense that has more than
three touches besides j T, who has ten.
Speaker 6 (27:52):
You just you know where it's going every play.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Every time they do. No, you put eight in a box.
It doesn't matter. He's that his I watched that game
last week, and I like the rewind plays, and I'm
up at two three o'clock in the morning. I'll rewind
to play five or six, and I want to see
different sets of it. And you're seeing his eyes and
just the way his body leans. He sees things at
the second and third level. He doesn't see the first defender.
(28:15):
You're smoke. You're nothing to him. He's looking two and
three guys behind you, and he's playing that way. That's phenomenal, man.
That kid is. I hope he doesn't get Pray for him.
No injuries. I'll be plays all year long. Top five
pick Martin, you got you right. I don't know Zeke
Elliott style, right, you got to top five?
Speaker 5 (28:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Worthy of But I know how this league works. Running
backs don't matter, Okay, Derick Henry, you know big free
agent league rushing first first time he first time he
touches the ball last week, right, exactly eighty nine yards.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Speaking of Derek Henry, the Ravens are at the Bengals,
the Packers at the Rams.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Both of these teams were Super Bowl teams.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Within the last five years, the Bengals and the Rams, right,
both of them with their head coach and quarterback combination
super Bowl teams mainly a lot of the same suspects there,
but both of these teams combined two and six record. Who,
like I said, Rams have the Packers coming in, Bengals
have the Ravens coming in. Which one of these two
(29:17):
teams VJ do you expect to be able to turn
the thing around? If any can?
Speaker 3 (29:24):
I say neither? Yeah, I'm allowed to have neither. Man,
I don't. I don't think. I think both these teams
are in trouble. I think both these teams are in
a lot of trouble, and not just they're in a
lot of trouble because, like you said, look at the
two teams they got coming in. They ain't got no
cakewalks coming in. You got two time MVP l Jacks
who looks like listen, I don't know what happened in
the Raider game, but we know they're a toll away
(29:45):
from tying that game against the Chiefs on Opening Thursday Night.
You get ten days before that next Raider game, and
they just spin up on themselves. All right, I get it.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
That was a lot of defense, right, yeah, seventeen point
league score, touchdown, recover, onside kicks going on touchdown like.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Labar don't play. You're right, yeah, absolutely, Well, you know
L Jackson is my guy. But it's when you talk
about them coming in and not only it's a division game,
and I don't think the Bengals. He's telling me the
Bengals defense all of a sudden is gonna blow up
and it's gonna stop those two guys. I don't see
that happening. And you look at the Rams now, I
would think the Rams have a better shot because I
(30:20):
thought the Packers really late in angry. They came back
and made it interesting last week. But Minnesota walked into
Lambeau last week and slapped them around like they drunk
the last bit of kool and didn't make another picture
like it's that game was really embarrassing, and they made
a little late come back in a second half run,
but by that time that that game's over. So and
(30:41):
I think neither's a cop out, so I won't go neither.
I think the team better suited to recover is the Rams.
I think the Bengals are in a lot of trouble,
but I think both these teams all right some trouble.
The Rams have a ton of injuries. Okay, hey, Cooper
cup receiver one out, pooking the coup receiver two out.
Like they your top two as catchers are out. That's
that's gonna affect any offense in the game of football.
(31:04):
When you look at the Bengals, they they got their guys.
We're trying to figure out what's up with this defense.
We're trying to figure out what's up with this offense.
Jamar Chase looks like he's okay. That guy's just catching
balls and just running through defenders. And running through defense
is like a hot knife to butter, So he I
think he's fine. They just have a lot of other
question marks. But to give a solid answer and not
take a cop out, the Rams, I believe are in
a better position to recover off of what we've seen
(31:24):
so far. I kind of agree here the Rams. They
had some interesting offensive line issues that injuries and suspensions.
One though Alaric Jackson's the first couple of games this
season for a suspension or left tackle there, so you
know several different avenues in that in that Los Angeles
offensive line also too, I think Sean McVay can scheme
things up a bit, uh to be able to get
(31:47):
guys like Jordan winning Ham.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I mean, I am a believer that Sean McVay and
Matthew Stafford created both Cooper Cup and pook and Nakula,
right Like.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
I think that like they.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
You know, all due credit to those guys, but I
think that if they were playing very much like if
Draymond Green played for the Knick's entire career, you.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Would play for Orlando. Yeah, like the Magic, It's not Draymond.
It's not the same scenario.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
That's not to take anything away from Draymond, because he
obviously was the man in the arena in those moments
and earned everything he got, right, But I just think
you got to look at the circumstances and say, well,
it would have been a little bit harder in other places.
I think that's the same scenario there with Cooper Cup
and Pooka Akua.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
I don't think the Bengals are particularly well coached. But
you've been on that though about Zach. You've you've been
on that for since we have the show, you kind
of been there particularly well coached. I think that they
are very much like these teams like Alabama or Georgia
or LSU where they had Burrow or Michigan last year.
They're just they just had more talent. They have really
(32:51):
had a lot more talent.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
And then on the defensive side of the ball, with
that Jesse Bates, they had the other safety just skipping
my name right now that moved in free eight Bond Bell.
They had these guys in the defensive backfield Woozia like
they had guys in the defensive backfield who were making plays.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Even Eli Apple was much.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Maligned tackle Tyreek Hill in that AFC Championship game and
turned the entire game around going into the half. They
don't have those guys in the same way anymore. And
now I don't see.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
The coaching staff's ability to overcome that in Cincinnati, where
I do sh it in Los Angeles in a different way.
Real quick though, with that, is it because they have Burrow?
Are we getting stuck in this world where when you
know you have an elite guy, you kind of you
kind of I don't want to say you miss coach
on purpose, but maybe attention to detail isn't as great
(33:37):
as like Bill Belichick or Bright. Bill had Brady for
twenty years, but you know Bill dotted every I, crossed
every team, made sure that he had all those parentheses, apostrophe,
come on, you're you're you're a writer guy, whatever, what other, whatever,
the punctuation of my missity or a comma, a semi
colon like anstisk, like he had everything covered and then
(33:57):
Brady was still gonna be Brady. I feel like with
some of these elite quarterbacks, some of these coaches were questioning,
how are you not covering every The quarterback is good,
the offense is good. Just do everything else as a
head coach, and you're gonna win a lot. I just
think I think that's a conversation. It's something that really
has to be dived into, especially when you consider the
(34:19):
for lack of a better term, journeyman guys having success
in the NFL right now as opposed to the rookies
who are objectively not save Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
And really, when you look at the last couple draft classes,
there has been pretty it's been pretty dry at the
quarterback position since twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Yeah, also too Bengals Ravens. Ravens number one offense in football.
Good luck, this is a this is must win for Cincinnati.
Win four. Coming up next. This receiver decided he said,
I'll take it off of work today. One problem is
he didn't tell his bosses first. That's the result he
won't be playing on Sunday. We'll get into that situation
coming up next to Fox Sports Football Saturday. Martin Wi'
(35:00):
VJ Husky on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Martin VJ coming to you live at a Tireck dot
Com studios, Martin Weisse's VJ Husky. If you want to
get at us on Twitter, you can. I'm at Martin
Wis VJ at Big Vanilla Funny. We'll get to your
tweets throughout the show like uh or I just had
it asking genty pop up? How about this hen Joel,
Captain Kirk and Swag surf mode just like Martin Weis
(35:29):
and Big of Vanilla Funny getting turned up Kirk Cousins.
Is anybody parlayed the dad bod Our Dad mode more.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Than Kirk Cousins. Beautiful? That's why I like them so
here's my guy.
Speaker 7 (35:39):
Man.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
We had a chain that said Cole's cash on man.
Let me tell you something, Kurk Listen, I've said this
for the past two years. We've had this show going on.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
You.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Oh matter of fact, I man, I forgot to say today.
Today is actually Martin and I's third anniversary of Martin
and Vj's anniversar. It's our anniversary. Now. Last year I
brought in by of Martinelli's Apple cider, you know, the champagne,
and Martin did say thank you for his That's why
we didn't get him this year. He just took it
(36:09):
and was like, oh wow, great Martin, Liz I wou
was just we're popping bottles in here. Everyone out said
thank you with this guy. So that's why we don't
have him this year. But I'll make up for it
next week. Anyway, third year anniversary, Martin and VJ. But
three game, three years I know, right, who would have
thought not us? Right? Who would have thought Martin VJ
three years together? Not us? Yeah, Kirk Cousins, man, you
(36:31):
gotta love this guy. If you don't love Kirk Couttins,
I really question your humanity. I do I question you
as a human I question you as a human being.
If you don't like Kirk Cousin, how do you not like?
What has Kurt ever done that would make you say
I don't like Kirk Cousins. Someone would have to really
tell me that you like. That was awesome in Washington.
He was great in quarterback. He's not a super Bowl guy.
(36:54):
I get it. He's probably not a top ten court
I get it. But not a lot of guys are.
But what he doing, what he does do shows up
and he plays. He's available. Other than when he got
hurt and blue to knee or bluety achilles last year.
Other than that, Kurt's there. Man. When you got Kurt,
you got a shot. And listen, nobody had Nobody gave
them a chance the last two weeks. Nobody gave them
(37:16):
a chance. Man two in the last three weeks, and
you know they all they gone out and done. Is
one football games.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Romeo Dobbs decided to skip practices right. The team initially
explains his absence was personal reasons, but Sports Illustrated reports
that Romeo Dobbs upset with his opportunities in the passing game.
Now the Packers are were what is there three and
two on the year so far. I won two in
the games. Jordan Love starts but two and won both games,
(37:45):
and that Malik Willis did start. Malik the Frank I
was about to call him elite davers. He hasn't been starting.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Brian Goodenkouz, Packers Centeral manager says, Unfortunately, we had to
make the difficult decision to spend Romeo for this week's game.
His actions and decisions.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
During the week negatively impacted the team and required us
to take this action. Disappointed, we are confident he'll be
able to move forward in a positive matter.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
What is your take?
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Romeo Dobbs skips practice because he's not getting the ball enough.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
I'm so sick of these I'm so sick of this
generation I am. I'm so sick and tired of the
entitlement that today not all, not all. There are some
athletes martin high school, college and pro that do it
the right way. They bust their ass, they practice, they
practice hard, they study hard, they eat right, they hydrate,
(38:32):
they do what it takes to be called an athlete.
And in college now with Nil I could throw go
to class and do your work. But with Nil man
and I know too many players in my career and
my life in college that either had people doing their
work for him or we're just getting passing grades. So
I'm going to take that out of the equation because
I try to live in a real world, not a
fake world. But when you, as a pro wide receiver
(38:56):
who is receiving a paycheck from an NFL franchise, skips
practice because you don't like that, you're not getting the ball. Dude,
you sound like a high school kid. What are you
gonna do? What do you wanna do? You want to transfer?
Has that? What you wanna do you wanna you wanna
enter the NFL portal?
Speaker 6 (39:17):
Like?
Speaker 3 (39:17):
What?
Speaker 6 (39:18):
Like?
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Bro, You're on contract, Okay, you get paid to play
a game. You play a game. You're not saving lives.
You're not running in burden buildings, you're not building roads.
You're not clear and force for forces, for new subdivisions,
for houses for families and homes to live. You play football, dude,
Shut the hell up, get your ass in practice and
(39:40):
maybe work harder, maybe study harder, maybe act like you
want to be there. Here's the thing, Martin, they see
him every day. We just see him on Sundays. So
you know, suspending him. I think it was the right
deal because they probably looked at him and sayd bro,
you don't deserve the ball. We see what you're doing here.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Yeah, we'll see how it all plays out second time.
And there's many years the package have suspend. Did a
player for a game? Last year was jyr Alexander? This
year Romeo Dobbs. It looks like a new sheriff in
Green Bay.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
That's right, and we're broadcasting live from the tire rack
dot Com studios. Tire rack dot Com. Well up, you
get there with an unmatched election, fast reshipping feroid as
a protection over ten thousand recommend that this dollars tire
rack dot Com the way tire buying should be. Quick
question for you, Martin, go for it. Have you memorized
that read yet? I have? Yeah? Yeah, right, I was
looking at the score of I was thinking about how
(40:32):
play homes on the seventh pitch? Yeah, in game one
of the Alds tied five to five with the Royals
and the Yankees, thinking, uh, honestly, the thoughts that I
hate when I hear other people say them out loud,
is man, those TV execs really want the Yankees. Yeah,
I'm not a TV executive, so I don't you know,
I don't care what the ratings are. No, I want
to see good games. But that's what I was thinking
(40:55):
as I watched the top of the seventhier between the
Royals and the Yankees. But speak, you have New York,
the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings traveling to
Jollie on London Town to go ahead and play what
I think is an abomination against American foot No, but
(41:18):
uh Jelli Old London. Yeah, they're going over there to
play in London, which you know, which means we all
got to go ahead setting alarms skipt Church if you
want to the Jets and the Vikings play because they're
be kicking nine to thirty Eastern six thirty Pacific. Shouldn't
have to set alarms to watch football.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
That's my stance either way with this game will be
played and it will count against the standings VJ and
I got. And the thing that I mean, all week,
the entire week, it has been the conversation.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
Has been the Jets offense, and it seems.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
That everybody's got an opinion, starting with Robert Sala saying, well,
you know, maybe guys you know, are Cadence is wrong.
Then Aaron Rodgers saying, I don't know, watch you coach
them up because Cadence is great. Then Garrett Wilson says, well,
when I watched teams playing on Sunday, I watched teams
(42:07):
mix it up.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
I'd like to mix it up. And then that Daniel
Hackett says, what do you mean we want you to
be the focal point of offense, Garrett. And then Garrett
Wilson says, well, look at my stats, all right, that's
what that is. The energy that the New York Jets
bring across the pond to New York, to England. The
Jets to me, despite their relatives, I mean despite Air
(42:31):
Rogers saying they had to deal with the struggles of
success after beating who may be the worst team in
the NFL, A Tennessee Titans, right, they bring us to London,
where if we take preseason biases out of what we're
seeing so far, they're playing the best team in the NFC,
in the Minnesota Vikings. Yes, if you take your preseason
(42:53):
biases out of it. Currently, the Vikings have been the
best team in the NFC. Now will that remain? I
don't know. Do four games they've been the best team
in the NFC. Absolutely. Now, this is also another wrinkle here.
Woody Johnson, former ambassador to England, will be there in
the box at wherever this game is played, Tottenham Hotspur
(43:15):
or whatever, that Wembley wherever. He'll be there with all
his rich crumpet tea and crumpet friends.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
And you gotta wonder how much of an impact that
has if the Jets come out and get smoked, like
I think they're gonna get smoked. So first, VJ, the
first question, do the Jets get smoked or do they
have a shot at winning this game? If they do
lose and lose in an embarrassing level of fashion, does
anything happen as fallout to.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
This man, man the whole Robert Salah could be fired
after this thing. It's just you. You'd be firing to
coach this two and three, right if they lose this game? Right,
it's they're not zero and five, they're not wonning four.
They're two and three. But I will point out Vike's Pittsburgh, Houston,
(44:01):
Arizona are their next five games. So if you fire
a coach. You're then going in the Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Houston,
and Arizona. That's that's tough for any interim guy to
come in and have to deal with. So the first
part of your question, do they get smoked tomorrow? No? No,
because if I say yeah, then it won't happen. And
if I say yes, they will. The Jets will come out,
(44:24):
they'll play competitively. Remember, now, this trip does things. It
does weird things the teams right this trip across the pond,
across the Atlantic, it does weird things the teams. They're
coming off of in a completely embarrassing showing last week
and then missing a field, go to lose the game
and losing with the nine to six at home. Okay,
I believe that they have enough professionalism as football guys,
(44:48):
you know, you know, forget the coaches in the front
office and Johnson being there. He's also there, I think
because his team is playing in London. I don't know.
I don't think he's there to fire Robert Salah because
I would. It's hard for me to think you're gonna
fire guy at two and three. That would not unless
Aaron Rodgers and I just want to throw a little
conspiracy thing out there. Aaron Rodgers doesn't seem very fond
(45:11):
of the guy. Let's just be honest about it. You're
not seeming very fond of him if he is there,
If Aaron Rodgers has put some type of word in
the ear of somebody that can get the word to
Johnson that he's just not happy with this guy, and
we could tell that they don't get along and they're
not on the same page. Your quarterback and head coach
have to be on the same page. So do they
(45:33):
get smoke Martin?
Speaker 7 (45:34):
No?
Speaker 3 (45:34):
Do they lose? Yes? Is Robert sala fired after this? No?
I just have a far time thinking you're gonna fire
coach at two and three unless someone with influence has
put the bug out there that they don't want this
guy to be their coach. And if you're thinking about
making a move with Devontae Adams, don't you think you
(45:56):
kind of want to get Salah out of there? If
you're Aaron Rodgers, if you're gonna bring Devon's in, If
you're Aaron Rodgers and you know that's your guy, you
don't want to bring him into a situation that you
don't want to play for the guy. Why would you
bring your buddy in and you don't even want to
play for the guy, So Dodey Loise, yes, dude against No,
it's solid fire. No unless mister discount double check has
planned the seeds. It's like you're you say, okay, you're
(46:19):
firing coach es two and three, But I'd say morerior
firing a coach that has put together the track record
of Robert solid through Rogers career, which is much less
two and three. I got you, I got you much.
You know what I'm saying. He's twenty and thirty five
all time right now, that's the case, and that's you
should have fired him before the season started thing. He's
never had a winning record. Well, here's the problem. Here's
(46:41):
the thought.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
Everybody got like a mulligan of Aaron Rodgers got hurt
last year.
Speaker 5 (46:46):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
But now when you're sitting in this scenario every week
from week one to week four, Robert Salas says something
in this press conference, Aaron Rodgers has asked about it,
and instead of saying we'll talk about it later, instead
of saying, you know, I gotta look at the film, instead.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
Of saying any one of the millions of platitudes that
athletes provide.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
That was me instead of the millions of platitudes that
athletes provide. Right when they don't want to answer a question,
Aaron Rodgers says, no, let's hold him accountable instead.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
Aaron Rodgers has.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
Taken every single opportunity has at the podium, whether it
be postgame, whether it be Tuesday, whether it be Thursday,
whether it be Pat McAfee's show, to go ahead and
let people know through the lines. He's not saying it directly,
but through the line saying I do not respect this guy.
So that's what it is. That's to me, that's what
(47:43):
it is. If you're already this far in where you're
gonna give everybody a mulligan after he was going after
for snaps last year, this is Aaron Rodgers is the plan.
You better do everything to follow that plan. And I
do I think it's a good plan. No, I don't.
But if I'm in, like I said earlier some Charles,
(48:03):
if it's a lie, we fight on that line. We
are too far down the road to try to blow
this thing up. And the reality is pretty much all
these guys they fired at the end of the year anyway,
and you are chomping at the.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
Bit, spitting literal thing opinion. It looks like the rabies
go ahead.
Speaker 6 (48:20):
Well no, no, we were talking about this a little
before the show, Martin, and I just feel like, if
you fight, you know, whatever your opinion is on Sala,
I'm you know, it's up in the air right now.
I really you know, there's good things and there's bad things.
But to me, if you're if you're firing your coach
mid season, regardless of the team and the situation, you're
punting on the season season, thank you?
Speaker 1 (48:39):
Right?
Speaker 6 (48:40):
So, I don't think I can see the Jets and
Woody Johnson whatever, four or five games into the season
deciding just because of another loss that they're going to
blow up the whole season because that and they don't
even know how long they have Aaron Rodgers for. If
it really is just a one year thing with Rogers,
you're not going to spend that one season you have
starting it off with firing your head coach because you're
(49:01):
not going like you just simply are not going to
win the Super Bowl. If you start off the season
with firing your head coach, how does that ever happen?
Speaker 3 (49:08):
Here's the problem. The Jets are going to win the
Super Bowl right now?
Speaker 8 (49:10):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, Well, okay, if you're running the team,
that's your ultimate goal, regardless of what the media thinks,
what we think, you know on Martin and VJ or whatever, like,
your goal is to win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (49:22):
So I don't think you're going to fire your coach
this early in the season when that's still the ultimate
goal at the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
Here's a point, though, I want to throw at you.
He doesn't respect them. You're right. Do you think that
plays it to how demonstrative and how honestly disrespectful Aaron
Rodgers has been knowing that he could kind of get
away with this. Listen, let's just call it what it is.
They have the third rank defense in the NFL. They
have the second ranked passing defense in the NFL, giving
(49:48):
up one twenty eight. They're locking people down. The offense
is in the bottom half. They're number twenty two in
the league. Aaron, stop trying to blame everything else around you, bro.
Sometimes as you like, and you guys know how I
feel about the guy. Are used to at least I
used to really really love this dude, But I don't
(50:08):
like people that are unaccountable. That's one of my pet
peeves in life, people who just can't say, you know what,
my bad, you know what? That's on me? You know what, Ian,
I'm sorry, man, the man, my bad, homie, I'm sorry
that I said that. Do you accept my part? When
is Aaron Rodgers ever just gonna say? Look, I'm a
little rusty. I had a lot, let you know, last
year off, I'm I'm out of sync with my receivers. Right.
(50:30):
This Garrett Wilson thing with him, dude, it's real. It
wasn't just a preseason thing. It's now spilled over into
the season.
Speaker 6 (50:36):
This is who he is though, you know, like this
is I don't think anyone expects Aaron Rodgers to change that.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
You know what, Maybe I'm just that, Maybe I'm just
stupidly optimistic, bro, Maybe I just and I am you
know some people just hopeless romantics. Maybe I'm just stupidly
sports optimistic that a guy at his age, you know,
you're on your way out the door. Why not Like
Kobe's last year, Right, we knew Kobe was an a whole.
We knew Kobe was a jerk, but he took the
last year to say I'm just gonna have fun this year, guys,
(51:03):
and hey, listen, I made mistakes. He sat down and
had his talk with shaq Ad made it what he
did accountability right on the way out the door. Aaron,
what are you doing.
Speaker 6 (51:14):
So?
Speaker 4 (51:15):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (51:15):
Ian? I gotta ask you a question. Said, there's good
things and bad things. What are the good things?
Speaker 6 (51:22):
The fact that he's the defensive guy, the fact that
he's there. You hired him to bring his defensive culture
to the team. He's been very good, very But he's
not calling plays, but he's developing that. He's got his
hands all over that defense. Come on, he's not calling
like you know, Jeff Olbrick is the defensive coordinator and
he deserves a ton of credit as well. But when
(51:45):
you're a defensive minded head coach, you'd better have a
good defense, and he very much has had a good
defense ever since.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
Don't let him Ian, don't let Markin trip you up.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
Man.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
You know what you're talking about. I he has his
fingerprints on the defense end. Talk your stuff, Ian, he does.
Speaker 6 (52:00):
And he develops players too. It's like you know. Quincy
Williams was a third round pick of the Jaguars and
then they cut him, and then Robert Sawas snatched him
up and Boom made him into a first team All
Pro last year. Jamiean Sherwood's playing amazing this year. He
was a safety in college at Auburn and now he's
getting great at linebacker for the Jets. This is what
solid does. He develops guys on the defensive side of
(52:21):
the ball. The question is can he do it on
the whole team, which he hasn't shown that he can
do yet.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
What's what's a plug? Your blog? Your your Jets blog?
Speaker 6 (52:30):
Oh yeah, I write for a Jets x factor dot
com Jets x factor.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 6 (52:35):
Congrats, we're gonna go check. Yeah, it's been years. Yeah,
cover the Jets for them for a while. Obviously since
producing here at Fox Sports, I do it in a
little bit less of a capacity, but still.
Speaker 3 (52:44):
I just wanted to make the episode. Some people probably
sitting in their cars talked about what is passion jet though?
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Now, Yeah, I don't plug my stuff enough, so Jets
x factor dot com there you go.
Speaker 3 (52:55):
Yeah, you could change it to me. You know, you
could change it to like bum ass Jets x factor
dot com.
Speaker 6 (53:00):
Yet you know, you know, wow, it.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
Might improve the se O right might get more clicks
that way. Coming up next, I Love You.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
At the end of last season, we all thought this
team would be a Super Bowl contender. They're not quite
living up to the hype just yet, but have an
opportunity on Sunday to make the doubters believers.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
We'll get to that coming up next. Martin Wis's VJ.
Husky Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Football Saturday.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Comes to you Live at a Tireck dot Com studios
is Martin Weiss and VJ.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
Husky. Let's see, we got some tweets here.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Og A one c that injured defensive front line for
the Bengals at the Sorry it's been the injured defensive
front line. Look at the reporters. Bengals aren't over. They
always start slow. Og A one Cee, I got news
for you. They don'na win right here, one and four.
Speaker 3 (53:48):
That's too big of a hole. Yeah, he's in Cincinnati,
Ohio state guy too man money line bet he responded
to me talking about his wings. He said, Yo, b
The ones on the left was the kiddo's first toss,
then the one on the right was the finished product.
So all right, but I'm just saying there was a
little ashy I want trying to clown I was just
telling you I was helping you. Bro, just puss. I
(54:09):
don't want you to have company come over and think
that's how you saw your wings. I was looking out
for you. I want trying to clown you and the kiddies.
I appreciate the response. The ones on the right, though,
they saws. The ones on the left just looked a
little ashy beat us. I was just trying to help out,
but I appreciate it though. Man.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
So they got the Bills and the Texans in the
AFC matchup that a lot of people will, you know,
save Kansas City probably. I would bet that at the
start of the season there was an a pretty big
group of people that had this as the AFC championship game.
Speaker 3 (54:40):
Yeah, there were Bills because Texans been getting a lot
of love. Texas be getting a lot of love. C J.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
Stroud, dark horse MVP candidate for some Here's the thing, though, VJ.
Texans just got arounded by the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 3 (54:54):
Yep, and the Bills, you know pretty much had to
say if they Bills ran through the Jaguars and then
lost heartily to the ran right punish them.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Okay, So do we both agree here that Buffalo through
four games is one of the top five teams in
the NFL?
Speaker 3 (55:17):
Right now? Yeah, I got no beef with that. Do
we Where do you have Houston ranked? Because I do
not you had this question. Yeah, we didn't get to
it last week.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
I would have not been showing me on a week
by week basis that they're living up to what we
think preseason.
Speaker 3 (55:36):
You see Kansas City where they top the standings.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
Okay, it makes sense, doesn't look great, No, the top
of the standings, all right, Buffalo when they're on, they're on,
just as the Jaguars, right, but we also know have
potential to cond of lay some eggs, lay some stinkers
here or there.
Speaker 3 (55:49):
Right, did that?
Speaker 2 (55:50):
Still think they're a very very good team? San Francisco?
We see the injury reports. Okay, you think, all right, well,
maybe when they get their guys back, they'll be back
to that dominant juggernaut that they have, Lions running down
team's throats.
Speaker 9 (56:02):
Okay, I'm talking about the usual suspect. Do you know
the teams that was the usual suspects last year that
we were walking in thinking. Okay, these are going to
be the teams that find success. The Texans were on
that list, and the Texans, off the top of my head,
beat the Bears nineteen to thirteen. Ye I got it
for you, right, and Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
They snuck past Indianapolis in the game with Anthony Richardson
of the sub fifty completion.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
Percentage absolutely twenty seven and twenty nine, twenty seven against
the Colts nineteen thirteen, and then Minnesota, and Minnesota slacked them,
and then Jaguar and then they beat Jagar. Yeah, Jaguar
should have beat them, But I'm thinking, I think we're
starting to see now what the Jaguars might be. It
(56:48):
might not be that that that's something that needs to
be brought up to Also to Houston Texans. Check this
stat the only five hundred team plus five hundred team
in the league was a negative point differential negative fifteen
seventy nine to ninety four. So even unther three and one,
as we just said, they they've beaten. They've beaten three
(57:09):
bad teams and the one good team they played they
got trounced. They lost thirty four to seven. So this
is a huge benchmark game for them. Vegas has them
favored by a point, so Vegas is giving a toss
up in this game right here. And then if you
look ahead Green Bay, Indianapolis again, they got New England
on the road. They're at the bum As Jets, they
(57:31):
get the lines, they come in, and then they're at Dallas.
That's all the way up until November eighteenth. So that's
for the next sight six weeks of what they got
going on right there, as show hey Otani does, with
show Hey Otani does, and just hit a home run
in the bottom of the second end and the tie
this game. Three run homer to tie this game one
(57:52):
of the nl DS against the San Diego Padres three
to three in the second inn. And this guy right here,
what factory did they make this guy? And he's not human.
He's like an X men. You know. This dude's got
X men chromos. The owners of the Dodgers are saying
right now, seven hundred million worth it worth it worth Yeah,
worth of peanuts, Baby, that's peanuts. But uh, this is
(58:14):
a big game tomorrow, but it's bigger for the Texans
in my opinion. Oh this is than the Bills. Yeah,
this game right here, show if the Texans lose this game,
especially lose it in a big fashion or embarrassing fashion,
I'm taking them off the contenders list. But see the
division is though. But I'm okay, but you're gonna win
a division to get a home playoff game. But last
(58:35):
year Tampa Bay won the NFC South. Then you know
what nobody thought they was gonna do, go to the
super Bowl?
Speaker 10 (58:41):
Right, they even won a playoff game. They did beat
the Eagles. I'm not saying that, Houston, I'm not. I'm
not eliminating them from the playoffs. I'm not elimiting them
from a playoff win. But if they lose this game.
Speaker 3 (58:52):
For at this point, I know we're going into Week five,
but you are going there's a lift of contenders and
then a lift of pretenders. Texans are going to the
pretender side until they earn their way back over to
the contender side. With the loss here. They have such
an easy schedule, even down to stretch from November twenty fourth.
Listen to this mark Tennessee at Jacksonville, the Dolphins at
home at Case Baltimore, and than Tennessee. So yeah, the
(59:15):
KSE Baltimore game, We'll see where the Dolphins are at
that point, with too whether what's so with Oos there?
They don't have a quarterback, they don't have a shot.
The team looks totally different and like they look like
the worst team in football without Oos is the quarterback.
But I just feel like they lose this game. They
got some easy ones coming up. They still could get
to like eleven wins. They'll beat up on a bunch
of bad teams, but you know, of course, and they
(59:36):
don't get a home playoff game and then we'll see
from there. But this is a huge game for them Tomorrow.
I think the Bills would be poised to kind of
bounce back. I think the Ravens show last week that
they are as good as I think they are. I
believe the Ravens are the second best team in football
behind the Chiefs. I would have the Ravens there because
I think the Ravens went total toe with them and
they were toe from tying that game, and you know,
(59:57):
possibly win in overtime in Kansas City opening. So I
would give them the nod is the second best team
over the Bills. But I think the Bills show up
with I think the Bills show up tomorrow and do
what the Bills do. They got weapons. I'm very impressed
with what they've done with this receiving corps. I got
to keep it real, even though I can't stand them.
I'm very impressed with the way Josh Allen is yet.
But I did say last Saturday that Josh Allen hadn't
(01:00:18):
turned the ball over yet and what was bound to
happen Josh Apple turnover Allen? He shows up, but you
know it's coming. It's like Christmas if you just wait
long enough through the first eleven months, guess what's coming
in the month twelve and month twelve Christmas. It's there
every time, just like his turnovers. But we won't do
our pick yet. But I think this is huge. I
don't think this is a real big game for Buffalo.
(01:00:40):
I do think they bounced back nicely, but very interesting
to see how the Texans handle this at home tomorrow
with a power team like the Bills coming in. VJ
said something in that's soliloquy, one four word phrase that
literally we will talk about for the next ten minutes. Literally,
it was that juicy and that threw it out there
(01:01:01):
like it was just regular. He didn't even notice, He
didn't even notice, He didn't even he didn't hear so
say it because it's been true for so long. Now
I'm not I'm not sure. I'm scared to even ask
the question. But you know what, I'm a brave man.
I'll do it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Coming up next, football fans, be sure to tune into
Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning beginning at ten am
Eastern seven am Pacific for Countdown to Kickoff presented by
Bett MGM, Brian No, Jeff Schwartz, a professional better Bill
Krackenberger will have you covered three out for kickoff every
Sunday morning. Listen to Countdown to Kickoff presented by Bet
mgm right here on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
Coming up right now, STEVEJ. Seger, what's trending? My guy?
What's up? Steve?
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
Well, we got a Dodgers Padres playoff opener, tied at
three going to the third inning on FS one. This
is the Division Series, best of five. It's on FS one.
As mentioned, most of the games in this National League
postseason are this year. The World Series as usual, will
be on Fox TV. We'll get to the Mets in
a moment. Who came back to win again? But talk
(01:02:00):
about amazing the career that show hey Otani has had
in the major leagues to this point, and the past
month specifically that he's had is just beyond belief. Tonight,
he fouled the ball hard off his knee and on
the very next pitch, a rocket to Wright goes out
for a three run homer to tie the game. The
Dodgers starting pitcher tonight, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, had allowed three runs
(01:02:23):
in the top of the first to San Diego, including
a Manny Machado home run. Otani with his first ever
postseason at bat with runners in scoring position, and he
ties the game with a long ball. Again games going
to the third. The Mets were down one nothing at
Philadelphia going to the eighth inning and still beat Philly
six to two. The Mets had advanced here Thursday by
(01:02:44):
scoring four runs in the top of the ninth at Milwaukee,
so the magic continues. Two seed in the American League,
Cleveland was a seven to nothing winner over Detroit today
Guardians with five runs in the first inning before the
Tigers got an out. That was a first in Al
postseason history. And currently we have a Yankees lead of
six ' five over the Royals with two outs in
(01:03:04):
the top of the eighth. There have been five lead
changes in tonight's game, which breaks the MLB record most
lead changes in a postseason game. The Yankees at one
point took the lead with two bases loaded walks in
the fifth. Again, the game is now in the top
of the eighth. In New York, Dodgers veteran pitcher Clayton
Kershaw is officially shut down for the year with his
(01:03:26):
toe injury. An incredible upsetting college football today at Vanderbilt.
Vandy beets number one Alabama forty to thirty five. Number
nine Missouri fell at Texas A and M forty one
to ten. That means A and M's three to zero
in conference, ahead of Alabama and Georgia, and SMU was
a winner at number twenty two Louisville thirty four to
(01:03:46):
twenty seven. Number twenty one Boise State leads fifty two
to seventeen against Utah State. As they approach mid third quarter,
Ashton Gentia Boise on thirteen carries, has one hundred and
eighty six yards rushing and three I feel like we
talk about him and deservedly so, every Saturday on this show.
Ap points out that in Barry Sanders Heisman winning season
(01:04:08):
nineteen eighty eight for Oklahoma State. Through five games, he
had one thousand yard rushing and nineteen touchdowns at the time,
including two on returns. Ashton Genti has one thousand yards
rushing and this is game number five of his season
sixteen touchdowns, all on the ground.
Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
By the way, late.
Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
In the third quarter, it's fifteenth rank Clemson leading at
Florida State twenty three to seven. Halftime at Arkansas Razorbacks
three nothing over fourth ranked Tennessee. It is now tenth
ranked Michigan in the lead at Washington seventeen fourteen in
the third quarter. Early third number eleven USC tied at
Minnesota ten ten, and Baylor has taken the lead early
(01:04:47):
third quarter on Fox TV at number sixteen Iowa State
twenty one to nineteen.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and bjcomisylive from the
ti iraq dot com studios.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
The for word, yes that VJ said all right already
for this. He said that the Chiefs are best in football.
So it's five. Sorry, but I was sure right now
even with everything that's going on. Yeah, Rashi Rice on
the IR Okay, Hollywood Brown never makes it to the season.
(01:05:22):
What were their big hole last year wide receivers. They
tried to address it and it just didn't work right,
Dravis Kelce And I'm not knocking them, man, because we're
about the same age, Okay, And I know this. If
I was playing it for football, I'd be slow and
then I wouldn't get open either. That's where I'm at
with that. I'd be slow too.
Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
My ankle hurts right now because I tripped going up
the stairs. I couldn't imagine being tackled once, much less
several times a game. Travis Kelce knows he's probably about
what seven to ten good football games left in his body. Yeah,
and he's leaving them for the times when they really
truly matter, which completely and totally understandable for a team
(01:06:05):
that has aims of championship aspirations, a team that is aims.
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Of three peating.
Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
But when you look at this offense, you look at
the way that Patrick Mahomes has been playing over the
last four weeks of this season, interception in every game,
two interceptions in the red zone against Atlanta, He's turned
the ball over a ton.
Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
The defense will pretty good, but still, are we sure
they are toe down away from losing to the Ravens.
There are personal a passing affairs called away from losing
to the Bengals five and a half win favorites going
into New Orleans coming into Kansas City? Are we sure
(01:06:46):
because I feel you it was true like through two
weeks ago. Are we sure today that Kansas City is
still the best team in football? If you guys remember
over the summer, what was my quote about the Kansas
City Chiefs and how I was going into this season,
they are now the New England Patriots. To me, I
will not go against them or think they can't get
(01:07:06):
it done until I see somebody take them out on
a consistent level. They've been beaten once in the AFC
in the last three years. Once they keep getting to
the super Bowl. The only guy that's beaten Mahomey in
the postseason. I guess how many guys I give it.
I'll tell you too, Joe Burrow and Tom Brady the Goat,
(01:07:32):
and then the guy who people think is like the
next coming of the second or third best quarterbacks in
the league. Those are the only guys that could beat them.
And this is early in the year. We kind of
saw this last year I went as far as the
breakdown all their touchdown y'all. Remember I came in with
my notebook and I had all their touchdown drives. I
went back and I broke them all down in the
yardage and how long it took and how many plays,
(01:07:53):
And I was on the all man. They're just denking
and dunking guys to death. Pat Mahomes doesn't have the
deep threat. No, what doesn't matter. Do you move the football,
do you put it up pall across the goal line
or do you kick it through the uprights? Is the
only thing that matters in football offensively, That's it. At
the end of the day, did you drop the ball
and score? They still are winning games. They're still four
(01:08:15):
to zero. I don't think anybody in their division. Now. Listen,
the Chargers had them. The Chargers had them, Jimmy Bergers
had them. And Pat mahoney just does what Pat mahoney does.
Chris Jones just does what Chris Jones does. Until I
see somebody that can rightfully say they're the second best
(01:08:36):
team or the best team in the NFL. The Kansas
City Chiefs are the New England Patriots to me, now,
they're the best team in football until I see someone
really say that they're not. If you had to put
my top four together right now, it's the Chiefs, the Ravens,
the Vikings, Washington, and then that out in the Lions.
To me, those are the top four or five best
teams in the NFL right now, But it's still the Chiefs.
(01:08:58):
If you put all of those teams on, I feel
with the Chiefs tonight, the Chiefs will beat them. I
don't care if it's by one. I don't care if
it's by fifteen, because they have number fifteen and when
you got number fifteen, you're the best team in the league.
These injury reports, though, you can't deny it. Rice is
done for the year? Correct, No, No, Okay, so it
wasn't it an injury reserve? Oh so injured reserve? So
(01:09:21):
reevaluating what four to six? Well, they don't know exactly
what the extent of his injury is because there's so
much swelling in his knee.
Speaker 6 (01:09:27):
Oh, they're just I think it was originally that he
was They presumed he was out for the year, and
then it's recently revealed that he might not actually miss
that year.
Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
Because they can't do the MRI yet because there's so
much swelling they can't see if it's torn or not.
Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
That swelling could go down. They know he's missing the
next four game, he's done the next six. Maybe I
got him the next six, he's he's gone for the
next month and two years, he's gone for the net six. Definitely,
why would you even bring him back? If you if
it's even a question at this point, I would say, yeah,
just go ahead and send him for the next six.
Once again, Martin, I'm just saying, bro, you got mahomie
(01:10:01):
and I've banged on them prior more than any other
radio guy at this company, in any other company. But
I'm just to the point now, w I'm not doing
that this year. I'm gonna just go by what I
see you. Right, he turned the ball over. He has
been having some turnovers, but they've still been winning the
football games. And at the end of the day, it's
winning losing. That's that's what sports comes down to. And
I got him and still the best team. If they're not,
(01:10:21):
give me a team Ian jump in there. If it's
not the Chiefs, just you know, just just for S
and g s, right, just for S and g's. If
it's not the Chiefs, and who's the best team in football?
Who would you put there?
Speaker 6 (01:10:33):
I mean I'd have to lay him out, but the
Ravens would cross my mind as one of.
Speaker 3 (01:10:36):
Them I got and I got them at number two.
Speaker 6 (01:10:38):
Yeah, I mean it would have been the Bills until
the Ravens just beat him down like that.
Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
I just think this is this is vins. I think
the Lions are very good. The lines are legit. Yeah,
but the genesis of the question is this is something
that for the last three years was there wasn't a
question at all. Yeah, it was no debate, right, it
was really no debate, especially once Kansas City got that
(01:11:06):
defense in order. And now they're winning games twenty twenty
seven to twenty four, wind thirty five to twenty you
know what I'm saying, thirty five to twenty one. They're
holding team's less than three touchdowns a game. Once they
got that defensive order, that was serious and that was
that really made a major difference in my opinion. Now,
I think because the offense has had so many losses,
(01:11:28):
it's worth a question. Yeah. I just look at it
like this, Baltimore the game up twenty Cincinnati gave up
twenty five and cincinnat should have beat them. We all
know that Cincinnati should have beat him, But the last
two weeks Chargers in Atlanta combined twenty seven points. That
defense is given up. If you're only gonna score seventeen
and ten points, you have no shot at beating Pat Mahomes.
You have no shot at beating Pat Mahomes, especially scoring ten.
(01:11:50):
You put ten points on the board, you're losing. Seventeen
is not getting it done. You gotta score twenty five
twenty six to weight. You might gott to score thirty
to beat them. That's just why they're still the best
team in the league. I can't say that about any
other team. The Ravens. We've seen an ugly loss from them, right,
even though I think they're the second best team in
the league. But that's an ugly loss to the Raiders
at home, who spin up on themselves at home in
(01:12:13):
the week before in loss to have to fly across
country and do the ten am thing that we talk
about so much eron Martin VJ one am, the one
pm kickoff for a West Coast team, those percentages are
clearly in the advantage of the team on the East
Coast and they went out there and got that dumb
So I just until someone beats them. This week's very
interesting game Monday night against the Saints. I'm very interesting
(01:12:35):
to see how this plays out. But it's in Kansas City,
right you gotta go to k C, Martin. It's just
hard to win there. Man. We'll dive into that game
at the top of the hour.
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
Coming up next right now, Let's see if Martin and
VJ can go ahead and get it done.
Speaker 3 (01:12:46):
Oh Steelers Cowboys edition of Who You Got? Martin Wis
VJ Husky, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Martin Wise VJ Huskey coming to your live on the
Tireck dot Com Studios. If you want to get out
of so Twitter, go ahead. I'm at Martin Wise v
Day at Big Vanilla Funny. We're read your tweets throughout
the show. Just got one here? Oh no, actually didn't.
Somebody tweeting Jonas Knox. I'm not reading that bleep and bleep.
Not reading that bleep and bleep.
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
Won't bit.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
Let's go ahead without further ado, get it started. It's
Who you Got, Cowboys, Dealers, It's.
Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
Not Rocket Site.
Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
We just want to know.
Speaker 6 (01:13:21):
Just answer the questions.
Speaker 1 (01:13:22):
Who who you got?
Speaker 6 (01:13:25):
All right? Who you got? Well, you guys know the drill.
I'm gonna ask you guys a series of questions, one
by one, and hopefully each one is going to narrow
down the pool of who it could be. And the
person I'm thinking of has something to do with either
the Cowboys or the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (01:13:38):
So you ready, let's do it.
Speaker 6 (01:13:40):
Let's go, all right, first clue, this guy was a
third round pick by one of the two teams in
the NFL draft.
Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
Joey Porter Jr. No.
Speaker 6 (01:13:49):
Good guess though, I actually considered him. So that's Drew Pearson.
No incorrect? All right, good, good first guesses though. This
guy was a first team All American in call age
and he's a two time NFL Pro Bowler.
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
Tony Dorset. No, I told you, I'm just gonna run
him all I love it though. Two time Pro bowler,
first team All American and college third round pick. Two
time Pro bowler third round pick. Can take another shot
(01:14:25):
at Ferguson Cordell Stoart No incorrect.
Speaker 6 (01:14:30):
I love these names coming out though.
Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
All right.
Speaker 6 (01:14:33):
He grew up in Pennsylvania and played college football at
the University of Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Damn Marino Kenny pick second was the first round pick?
Speaker 6 (01:14:43):
Can you picktt was the first one? Was like the
seventeenth pick?
Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
Or yeah, what a mistake. So you said he's from Pennsylvania.
Speaker 6 (01:14:52):
From Pennsylvania, grew up there, and then he stayed local
for college and played at the University of Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
I already used dor set. You said no because he
played it, all right, Aaron Donald, No, No, he plays
He was a Pittsburgh panther laryfist. Jerald went to fit
but he was a cardinal.
Speaker 6 (01:15:12):
All right, Well this is this one might narrow it
down a little bit more. He's a cancer survivor and
he's published an autobiography called Fear is a Choice.
Speaker 3 (01:15:21):
Cancer Survived, Cancer surviving. That's sick.
Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
I know two people who played football who survived for cancer,
but neither one of them have any connection.
Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
With Steelers in the count. And I know one too
that doesn't have any connections.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
Saints reserved tight end Eric Barry Chiefs safe Yet.
Speaker 6 (01:15:35):
No, there was also Mechi right, but no, none of
those guys beat cancer for you. Tell of a story.
Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
I know, I wish I knew it.
Speaker 6 (01:15:51):
Next he finished last season, so he's still active as
another clue there. He finished last season with the sixth
most rushing yards in the NFL despite missing four game.
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
Oh it was James Connor and yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:16:03):
Correct, he's a cancer survivor. Conject that. It was in
college after he was a first team All American. Following
that season going into the next year, he was diagnosed
with cancer. He was, he was, he got injured, and
during the rehab they found they found.
Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
For the answer. Now that James Connor.
Speaker 6 (01:16:22):
The last two clues I would have had where he
has the second most touchdowns in a season in Arizona
Cardinals history with eighteen, so that would have, you know,
pointing toward the Cardinals. And then he took over the
starting role during Levey On Bell's infamous season long contract holdout.
Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
James Connor. James Connor, Hey, he's been playing well so
far to start. He has a good fantasy good player.
Yeah he's rushing and receiving value for sure, but he's
a good he's a good football player. But he's not
just a good runner. He's a good football player.
Speaker 6 (01:16:48):
You Know what I found surprising was he actually only
has had a one thousand yard rushing season once and
that was in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
That is surprising. Oh wow, that is surprise.
Speaker 6 (01:16:58):
No, actually maybe it was last season.
Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
Yeah, but let's dive into this Cowboys stools game Sunday
Night football.
Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
No Michael Parsons, no DeMarcus Lawrence, no Brandon Cooks for Dallas,
no Russell Wilson for the Steelers. It seems right like
the CAFs train that will never end. But I do
not like backing Tomlin as a short underdog. Pittsburgh Steelers
are two and a half point underdogs in this game.
(01:17:26):
I think we end up seeing a Steeler I'm sorry,
a Dallas win, but a Steeler cover. But I think
that this is a real opportunity for Justin Fields to
come out and it really end all this talk. Like
Mike Tomlin can keep saying all he wants. He's not
gonna name a QB one Justin Fields about and this
(01:17:47):
is responsible for a different touchdowns, no interceptions, and over
three hundred and fifty all together yards.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
This it's your job, it's your job. Pittsburgh rolls. Pittsburgh rolls.
They rose Dallas is in Trump and I missed. I
told you guys last two years. I picked Dallas to
fumble right, and I was wrong. I said I wasn't
going to do it a third year in a row,
and then this is the year. Everybody else is like,
h VG, I don't know, man, I don't know about
the Cowboys this year. And how about this, right, Look
at all the quarterbacks that got paid, guys, Look at
(01:18:15):
all the guys got paid. Tula got paid, Hurt Herbert
got paid one and three? Uh, who else got paid?
Trevor Lawrence got paid owned Oh they haven one yet, right,
owned four? Victor what's your name? And Jordan Love got
paid he has won again. It's crazy all these and
then Dak right, and then Dak got paid. All these
guys got paid, and none of them have started off
(01:18:38):
this year the way that you thought that they would,
especially coming off of just getting paid. It's just it's
just crazy and ironic. How it's all of these quarterbacks. Now,
it's going to scare people into paying their quarterbacks, right,
because CJ. Strout's probably up next, correct him and Brock
party even though Brock's playing well. Parties up next, Yeah,
brought a Perty's up next, but c J. Strout's coming
right behind him. But now, but neither one of those guys,
(01:19:00):
even though Houston is three to one, I'm not I'm
not singing the alarm as much as Martin is right
now because their schedule is just so weak and their
division is so bad. So they should win eleven games
this year. There's no excuse for them not to get
to eleven and six. Uh this season, the Houston Texas
that is. But just all these guys got paid and
everybody is uh no on no, one's playing up to par.
(01:19:21):
But tomorrow Sunday Night football Dallas and Pittsburgh, especially up
there in Pittsburgh on the row. No Micah, No Micah right,
no Michael chasing around justin good luck. Michael doubtful, but
I don't think he's an play No. No, good Well,
if you're if you're doubtful Saturday night going to the
ten pm Eastern time, I doubt you're playing. It's gonna
(01:19:42):
be tough for the Cowboys here because they they can't
run the ball, no, and they can't stop the run.
And uh, as VJ says, if you can't stop the ball,
you can't stop the run. Your team's bad coming up
next to a Tomic Dogs and we five picks.
Speaker 1 (01:19:57):
Don't listen Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
That's right. Thank you to OGA one C who also
jumped in. Guests James Connor. Feel free to participate with
any games that we play, give us your picks all
of that. Do it on Twitter. I'm at Martin Wise,
VJ at Big One, Alofoni, and of course at Fox
Sports Radio. As we come to you.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Live from the ti rack dot com studios ti iraq
dot com. Well ipe, you get there with an unmaxed selection,
fast free shipping, free road as a protection, and over
ten thousand recommend that its dollars ti rack dot com.
It's the way tire buying should be. If you hear
any squeals or yelps or noises that you generally wouldn't
associate with the grown man, that is because VJ and
(01:20:37):
myself honestly are watching this Michigan drive with baited breath.
It's thirteen twenty left in the fourth quarter, seventeen a piece,
now Michigan with tuttle Jack tuttle In at quarterback, third
quarterback they've played this year.
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
That's looking once so far. Thank God, yes, goodness, grace
is what happened in the first two anyway, Now it's
time for the Atomic Dogs. And the picks. Let's do it,
all right, VJ. You know this time every week we
tell you ahead of time what upset is going to
be hitting, which one of these underdogs is gonna pay
the bills for us? VJ, you go up your first one.
(01:21:11):
That's right, man, So my first one? No, no, what
do we are we doing the one that we believe
in the most first, or the one that we're kind
of god, I know we were raking them one two three.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
Let's do it three two one. So the lead, the
last one you give is the one you believe in
the most first. Let's go ahead, Okay, Ian, how have
we done so far?
Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
Well?
Speaker 6 (01:21:28):
Going back to last week week for Martin, you were
two and one. VJ, you were one and two. So
you need your redemption this week.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
VJ.
Speaker 6 (01:21:34):
Yep, let's see it.
Speaker 3 (01:21:36):
This is on the atomic dogs, not just the pit
that's just dogs, just a tom of dogs, all right, cool, right,
all right, I'm a bounce back. So the one that
I'm kind of shaky about I make my third one
is the Indianapolis Coats. They're a plus three tomorrow going
into Jacksonville. But why would I trust an OH four
team at home? And that was a guy that was
believing in Jacksonville, and Martin everybody else tried to tell me,
(01:21:58):
you're crazy. They're not good. Doug Peterson is his first
coach to be fired. It might happen tomorrow. You guys
are talking about Robert Salad being fired in London over
tea and crumpets. I think Doug Peterson is gonna be
fired over some gatory. I'm talking about what the gator
fritters down there in Jacksonville, Florida. Give me the coach
and my man un O Flaco to go into Jacksonville
(01:22:23):
a three point underdogs and pull off the victory tomorrow
sending the Jacks the zero and five, and Doug Peterson
being fired Monday morning. That's the football headline. That one
is for my first doll. Whoof I like it. I
do like it a lot. I feel you.
Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
I do know why Jacksonville is in that position, all right,
my first dog, Oh my goodness, close your eyes, plug
your nose.
Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:22:48):
I'm going against the best offense to the NFL so far.
Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
Give me the Cleveland Browns to go ahead and upset
the Washington Commander. Either Jas Daniels is the best quarterback
we have ever seenquarter backing, or.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
He comes back down to earth. I'm betting all the
ladder that's crazy, No way that's happening. Sean Watson, Yeah, passing,
pass me whatever you're puffing off? All right, number two,
give me the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
I hate to do this, but I said I was
gonna be more professional and not so much as a
football fan this year. I like, what if they're with
the receiving corps. The defense has actually stepped up and
gotten better, even though they lost some guys. Sean mcdermy
knows what he's doing. Kids. You just plug guys in.
They're still playing great. I understand the Ravens ran all
through them, but I think that's the second best team
in football. That's gonna happen when you're playing the second
best team in football and two time MVP a quarterback
(01:23:33):
and l Jacks Lamar Jackson. I don't know what's up
with this Houston team. Their schedule is very easy. Guys, ladies,
young boys and girls. They're gonna be eleven and six.
I'm not worried about that. I just don't think they
have any type of longevity of it or Martin's favorite word,
it's not sustainable as far as the postseason and winning
the postseason goes. I think the Bills one point underdog
goes here. This is my number two toss up game.
(01:23:54):
Give me Josh Allen to make enough rushing plays, enough
scrambled plays, and enough throws down field to keyon home man.
Who is shutting my mouth a little bit. I'm not
shut completely, but half of my mouth has been zipped
about that kid. And if he continues to play the
way he's been playing, I will not say anything bad
about him. Give me the Buffalo Bills on the road
in Houston tomorrow with the one point underdog to get
(01:24:15):
that dub.
Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
You know this was my This would have been my
fourth I was very much leaning towards it, and if
you had gave it out in the picks, I would
have said Buffalo was going to go ahead and win.
Speaker 3 (01:24:25):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:24:25):
This one is Sometimes you gotta ignore the news I
know the news comes out, or pay attention to what
the responses are. Devoncea Adam posts Edgar Allan Poe on
his Instagram story, what's Antonio pierside? I'm focused on I'm
focused on the Broncos you know Gardner Minsho comes out.
I'm focused on the Broncos, Max Crosby, I'm focused on
(01:24:46):
the Broncos. Raiders gonna beat the Broncos if the Broncos
have no offense and.
Speaker 3 (01:24:51):
I know the Raiders have no offense to the final
scores game like ten to three last week, but you know,
go into Denver and win outright. Listen, man, I like
this team. I'm in here in La. I love La.
I'm going on nineteen years from the East coast. Being
in La. La showed me mad love, so I gotta
(01:25:13):
show love back to La. My man Matthew Stafford, who
I believe is the first bout not first BAP. Excuse
me as a Hall of Famer, A lot of people don't.
They got a lot of injuries, but they are at
home tomorrow. I think that they get this game with
the Packers coming in, the Packers laying a get home.
You could tell Jordan Love is a little bit rusty.
They got receivers not showing up to practice against suspended
(01:25:35):
because he's not getting the ball, and all the Rams
are gonna do them all at home. It's so far
which will probably be half filled with green and yellow Jersey,
a lot of Packer fans out here in LA exactly,
but a three point underdoll my man, Matthew Stafford makes
enough place. The defense makes a enough place, and Jordan
(01:25:55):
Love has a critical, critical fourth quarter turnover and the
Packers they miss a field goal to win this game.
And the Rams bounce back this weekend off of start
one and three, get the two and three and save
their season, because once you go to one and four,
you're done. But they saved their season them all for
my guaranteed number one Dog of the week. Give me
(01:26:17):
the Rams say take out the pack all right.
Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
If this team's ever gonna do it, it's about now
to go ahead and get started. First game in the
division for the Arizona Cardinals, who go to San Francisco
and get the win outright, seven and a half point underdogs.
First of all, it's mad disrespectful to the Cardinals who
had played the Bills to a touchdown and the Lions
(01:26:42):
to a touchdown. I know the Commanders mopped the floor
with them, but you know what, no one is as
bad as they were last week, and no one is
as good as they were last week. Jimmy Kyler Murray,
who is the second most profitable quarterback against the spread
as an underdog.
Speaker 3 (01:26:55):
Do you know who number one is? VJ against the
spread as an underdog? Lamars Jackson. Nope, Well he's gotta
think he's rarely Baker Mayfield. No, Jared Golf Wow quarterback?
Why he almost has an under dog. He's not a
great football So you gotta think.
Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
Last two years, people do not believe in the Detroit Lions,
But now Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (01:27:14):
I believe in. You don't make me a liar. Carlo
Martin Wis's VJA Husky Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
Martin Wis VZA Husky coming to you live from the
Tireck dot Com studio.
Speaker 3 (01:27:24):
You can get us on Twitter, should you choose. I'm
at Martin Weiss. Vj's at Big Vanilla Funny.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
Give us your thoughts, Like Turtle Island Sports says, give
Tomlin some props.
Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
He's on his way to another winning season. And Justin
Field is being coached and developed correctly. You know, VJ,
there's a conversation to be had about some of these guys.
Justin Field, I don't knowles know if he qualifies in
the conversation quite yet, but you look at sam Donold
Baker Mayfield, Geno Smith. These are guys on their third, fourth,
and fifteens for.
Speaker 2 (01:27:58):
Some of them who are now finding six in the NFL. Maybe,
just maybe, it's really hard to be a franchise quarterback
of twenty years old.
Speaker 3 (01:28:04):
It's not maybe.
Speaker 5 (01:28:05):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:28:05):
You have to have so much go right for you. You
have to have, first of all, a good ownership group.
Then you have to have a good front office that's
VP of Player Development, VP of Player Versus Personnel, and
then the GM. And then you have to have a
good offensive you know, a good offensive staff, a head coach,
a good quarterbacks guy, a good offensive mine, a good scheme.
Then you actually need five guys up front, oh those
(01:28:26):
guys they're called the offensive line, to be able to block,
and then you need somebody to be able to hand
it to and someone to throw it to, and then
you could plug in the rest of the pieces from there.
But when you don't have like two or three of
those things, it's really really hard to do. It's not
easy to just come into the league and be a
franchise quarterback. Sometimes guys just need a new change of scenery,
(01:28:46):
a new voice in their ear, a new set of rules,
a new culture. You know me, Mart, I'm big on culture.
Culture matters, man. What happens when you walk in the
door every day. It just it just matters. Bro. So
hopefully anybody that gets a second, third chance, man, it
gets the opportunity to become make themselves a franchise quarterback.
I'm all for. But like you said, that seems to
(01:29:07):
be the trend is if you can't get it straight,
you can't get it right right away, you know, give
it to the kids sometime, get them to a new team,
get them under a new system. Sometimes everybody wants to
call guys system quarterback system. They're all systems, guys. The
running shoots a system. The spread offensive a system. RPO
is a system. West Coast is a system. I Formation
is a like pro pro set. It's a system. It's
(01:29:28):
all a system. Well, we'll see if the system or
whatever works for Dak Prescott, because they are lead. They're lose.
Speaker 2 (01:29:35):
They don't have the weapons right, they're missing Lawrence, they're
missing parisions, they'll be missing cooks. But Dak got paid
sixty million dollars to Yeah, you know, go out there
and figure it out.
Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
When it's fed up, yep. And that's what you're supposed
to do as a quarterback. It is putting in. That
is part about being a quarterback. You get the money,
you get praised, so when things don't go right, it's
they got there's somebody that's got to be blamed. Okay,
that's just the way it goes. If somebody has got
to be blamed, just like I don't know who's gonna
get blamed in this Dodger game for walking Mookie Bets.
(01:30:07):
And a very gross injury also happened in this Tennessee
Arkansas game. We're not gonna talk about that. But you
walk Mookie Bets so you don't have to face certain
players in load the bases, and then you give up
an outfield hit where the center fielder misplays at six ' five.
It's just part of the big proble bottom of the
fourth this Dodger game. Hey, I'll go ahead and walk
Mookie Bets to get to Freddy free to get to
Freddy Freeman. Right, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
And then before that you gotta deal with show hal
Tony prior to Mookie Bets.
Speaker 3 (01:30:32):
Yeah, center fielder misplays this ball, laser's glove on the ground.
The ball hits the ground and then pops up, bounces
off his forearm and goes behind him, which scores, uh
scores two runs for the Dodgers. Now six to four,
Now six to five. Freddy Freeman makes out. Then I
got ta Oscar Hernadez with thirty three ons of the
year following him up. Listen, man, that lineup in the
Yankees lineup, I asked, I said during the commercial break,
(01:30:53):
and Martin and I are sitting here, and I go
I in the postseason, I just would not have to
want to face the Yankees lineup. It's just where you going,
who are you batting, who are you pitching? Or you
You can't pitch to anybody, You can't pitch around anybody.
And the Dodgers are the same thing. The Dodgers problem
is gonna be their pitch has been there pitching all
year long, but they have the bats. If the Dodgers
will beat you ten to eight, and just so if
you if you could score eight, fine, but the Dodgers
(01:31:16):
are gonna score ten like they're gonna put up runs.
We're in a fourth in and there's been eleven runs
scored in this game between the Padres and the Dodgers.
Right now it's six to five in the bottom of
the fourth, So this this feels like eleven to nine
in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (01:31:30):
I was just about to say, we've said everything but
to score in this game, to handle that part, and
we'll get it over to Steve the Seger.
Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
So I'm just kidding Steve. I know Steve's got everything
on this. This is a wild game so far.
Speaker 4 (01:31:41):
Yeah, not halfway through. It seems like we had most
of everything already. And the Yankees' final score at home
tonight was six ' five over Kansas City, and there
were five lead changes in that one, most ever in
a playoff game.
Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
The day got.
Speaker 4 (01:31:54):
Started out of these four division series openers at Cleveland,
with the Guardians getting five runs in the first in
and beating Detroit seven to nothing. The Mets were down
at Philadelphia one nothing going to the eighth, but beat
the Philly six to two. The Dodgers have just ended
the fourth inning up six ' five over the San
Diego Padres. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed the five runs
(01:32:15):
in his three innings of work, including a first inning
home run from Manny Machado. Dylan Cease went three and
a third as the Padre starter. He allowed five runs
did have five strikeouts. He allowed a three run homer
to show Heyo Tani in the second to tie the
game LA six ' five over San Diego going to
the fifth. The game is on FS one Sunday nights.
(01:32:35):
Game two of the best of five also on FS one.
By the way, in the Mets at Philadelphia series, Game
two is on FS one Sunday, and that will also
be at four pm Eastern time. As it started today.
Dodgers veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw's officially shut down for the
year with his toe injury. Big upset in college football
today at Vanderbilt. The Commodorees down Number one Alabama forty
(01:32:58):
to thirty five and number twenty five Texas A and
m ripped ninth rank Missouri forty one to ten. Arkansas
at home is only down to number four Tennessee fourteen
to ten Vols early in the fourth quarter and Arkansas
is driving it is a minute to go and fifteenth
rank Clemson leads at Florida State twenty nine thirteen. Looks
(01:33:18):
like the Seminoles will fall to one in five this year.
Washington at home leads tenth rank Michigan with under five
minutes left, twenty four to seventeen, two minutes to go.
In regulation, Minnesota is hosting eleventh ranked usc and the
game is tied seventeen all and Minnesota is in the
red zone. Number twenty one, Boise State leads sixty two
(01:33:38):
to thirty over Utah State with about seven minutes to go.
The early stats still stand for Boise State superstar running
back Ashton gent thirteen carries one hundred and eighty six
yards and three early scores. In the game on Fox
TV under ten minutes to play. Sixteenth ranked Iowa State
now leads forty to twenty one over Baylor. Among the
(01:34:00):
late games, number eight Miami at cal and the late
game on Fox will have Texas Tech at Arizona. At
the top of the hour, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson was
downgraded to doubtful with a hip injury, so Joe Flacco
could start tomorrow. Center Ryan Kelly is doubtful with a
neck injury. Colt's running back Jonathan Taylor is out with
a sprained ankle. Texans running back Joe Mixon out with
(01:34:21):
an ankle injury. The Packers suspended wide receiver Romeo Dobbs

about fourteen thousand dollars by the league for unsports unsportsmanlike
conduct last week. Green Bay wide receiver Christian Watson was
listed as doubtful for tomorrow with an ankle injury. Rams
wide receiver Cooper Cup is out again. Dolphins wide receiver
(01:34:43):
Odell Beckham will play Sunday. He was activated off the
pup list. Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne will play he
was activated, but safety Jabro Peppers is out with a
shoulder injury. Updating college football at Arkansas, it looks like
a field goal for the Hog so early fourth quarter
now fourteen ten Tennessee in the fourteen thirteen Tennessee in
the lead back to.
Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
You, thanks Steve. Without further Ado, let's go ahead and
get our guy in here. DeMar J. Morris, he's our
MLB bro content reporter and Fox Sports Radio baseball insider. Demarje.
How you doing, my friend?
Speaker 7 (01:35:15):
I'm good, I'm good, blessed and thankful.
Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
That's how y'all doing doing well.
Speaker 2 (01:35:19):
It's the best time of the year for basicallygue baseball
we're sitting here in the postseason. Let's go ahead and
start with the first game today is the Detroit Tigers
got pounded by the Guardians. The Tigers after the All
Star breakhead a like two percent chance to make the playoffs.
Go ahead and qualify, Thank you very much to the
Chicago White Sox. Do you think the Tigers have any
shot in this series or is it going to be
(01:35:40):
the Guardians all the way?
Speaker 7 (01:35:42):
They'll have a shot win Tark screwball throws on Monday.
Other than that, I got the Guardians winning the series.
They should take care of business. But it was a
great run for the Tigers. You know, a great story.
You guys are gonna be set for the next couple
of years. So you definitely got some exciting years come
in with this Tigers team. But y'all get them. I'll
get them to win on Monday with scooball thrown and
then after that, I got the Guardians running away with
(01:36:03):
it the rest of the.
Speaker 3 (01:36:04):
Way to March. That's going on. VJ. Brouner Husky, how
you doing, brother? Good? How you back man?
Speaker 5 (01:36:09):
You?
Speaker 6 (01:36:10):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
We were talking about we got this Dodger game up,
but I want to go to the Yankees earlier, because
that was a really good game, very interesting game that
we had earlier with the Royals. They win six to five,
and I made a comic to Martin doing one of
the commercial breaks then in the postseason. Number one, It's
just great to see the Yankees back in the postseason.
Whether you love them or hate them, It's just something
about the pinstripes at home gets a little colder back
(01:36:31):
there these coasts, and they got the turtlenecks on and
the Navy blue sleeves underneath, and it just feels like
October baseball. But the one thing I wouldn't want to
do in October baseball is to have to pitch to
this lineup. Man, dude, is it just the lineup they have?
Garrett Cole got chased out in about the fifth or
sixth in it, But they just have the bats, right.
It's like you, the bats should be able to carry
the Yankees to the World Serious, am i am? I? Am?
(01:36:54):
I off here? Or is that pretty much the way
you see it too?
Speaker 5 (01:36:57):
No?
Speaker 7 (01:36:57):
Yeah, I agree, Yeah, this this offense definitely is of
carrying this team to the World Series. They're loaded from
top to bottom and then obviously we got guys like
Labor Torres, Austin Wells doing what they're doing, contributing how
they are. You know, obviously that just helps.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
You know.
Speaker 7 (01:37:10):
Of course, when you got Soto and Judge leading the charge,
want to te Jazz Chishoms, that wake up a little bit.
I think he's gonna be a huge piece going forward
for this offense. But yeah, this offense is more than
capable of carrying this team, especially if they did a
subpar pitching performance here and there. You know, as long
as they could put up four or five runs, that
could be the ball game.
Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
Let's talk with this game on right now. The Dodgers
and the Padres.
Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
Dodgers started Yama Moto was one of their highly paid
free agent signings in this offseason. He did not pitch well,
giving up a bunch of runs to the Padres. Early
on in this game, show hel Tany doing things that
you expect him to do. With a three run homer
and now the Dodgers, I mean, the Padres just walked
Mookie Betts to get to Freddy Freeman, who then made
(01:37:51):
out who I believe at Teoscar Hernandez come up with
an RBI double. Is the Dodgers pitching gonna be enough
to go ahead and get through this series.
Speaker 7 (01:38:02):
It's gonna similar with the Yankees. It's going to have
to be the offense who carries them. We know the Dodgers'
pitching has been banged up all season. They just haven't
been able to get right. And then when they have
gotten right, you know, with Walker Bieler, you know he's struggling,
Bobby Miller, he's been giving up home runs less and right.
So the offense is definitely going to have to carry
this team. It's very, very this is weird team. Yamamoto
(01:38:23):
out there tonight, you know, five five earned runs in
three innies. I thought he'd be a little more poised
and you know, just a little more dominant. He has
been up and down this season. One of the few
Japanese pitchers who come over and struggle. You know a
lot of them seem to come over and they just
dominate right away. I Managa, you know, a couple other
guys from the past. But so he's definitely been adjusting
all year. Hopefully they can get it together as far
(01:38:45):
as the pitching, because we know the bats are going
to be there, and so yeah, the offense is going
to have to carry this, this Dodgers team, but they're
in trouble. I think they're in trouble. They'll get it tonight.
They should hold on some the fifth in the city end.
They might get it tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
Bro, It's going to be an.
Speaker 7 (01:38:57):
Issue in the future in the next couple of rounds.
Just pitching.
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Yeah, as you say, they should get it to night. Yeah,
we'll see about that. The pitching's not holding up. The
Padres are knocking the ball around the part just like
the Dodgers are. To me, it's last team after bat
with a hit that's gonna possibly win this football game.
Let's go over to the New York Metropolitans, who just
kind of keep this dream season going. Man eighty nine
and seventy three. They sneak into the playoffs, they win
(01:39:23):
the wild Card, they go up to the Phillies and
go to Philadelphia. They have some gyros and some chief stakes,
and then put a pretty clean ass whooping on the
Phillies today. I remember asking you back in July and
August here you thought of the best team, and you
always stood on the Phillies and the Dodgers. But the
Phillies are already down one game in this series to
a team that just feels like it's got a lot
of momentum. Right now, man, what do we make of
(01:39:44):
these of these Mets right now?
Speaker 7 (01:39:47):
Man? I love this Mets team. I love how they've
been playing last couple of months. They obviously got some
special going, they got some crazy momentum, and you gotta
ride that way.
Speaker 3 (01:39:55):
Man.
Speaker 7 (01:39:55):
They're just pitching good all around. Wheelard. I would have
left in. Look, I know it's a different game. You
know analytics, I get all that, but hey, if you
got to throw one hundred and thirty pitches, you got
to throw one hundred and thirty pitches, whatever it takes.
This is the postseason. This is what you're getting paid
the big bucks for. I know he was already at
one eleven, but they hadn't done any damage on him.
I would have kept him in until they did something
(01:40:16):
right and then come in and pull a reliever. I
hate when he's managers pull the pitcher when he has
it rolling, regardless of how many pitches he had it rolling,
why'd you take him out? As soon as you took
him out, boom, Mets took off ran away with it,
and yeah, it was trouble. That was the game you
needed to win, especially with the Mets team who's playing
the way they're playing. You needed to get this one.
(01:40:37):
With Wieler on the mouth.
Speaker 3 (01:40:38):
And speaking of Willer, one hundred and eleven pitches, sixty
eight of them strikes nine. Go to your rooms, no strikeouts,
I call him. Go to your rooms. No dessert for you,
no fruit Go to your room and you get no
dessert or fruit cup. One hit and seven innings, Damar Jay,
you're the baseball guy. I love the sport. I still
love to go to the back cages. I got a bat,
a glove, and a ball in my trunk right now
(01:40:59):
that I keep with my football, my basketball in case
somebody starts talking some trash and they want to go
do something. But explain this to me, DeMar Jay. Seven innings,
one hit, non go to your rooms. Why are you
pulling him like that's me in the postseason.
Speaker 7 (01:41:15):
I believe these managers they get too caught up on
the analytics and they're too worried about injuries. Look, injuries
could happen at any point in the game. You could
blow your elbow out the first pitch of the game.
So I just think they panic, they freak out, they
want to protect the guys, keep them saying. But in
the postseason, all that goes out the window. Whatever it
takes to win. Like I said, had this been back
in the day, he would have threw probably twenty more
pitches than they would have stilled the deal and got
(01:41:36):
the job done. I mean, you look at the Oriole
series with Corbyn Burns. Game one, pitched the gym against
Cole Reagan, same thing. Couldn't get no run support all
for seven from Santanderren Gunner Henderson one for sixteen in
that series. So you hate to see pitchers go out
there and do their job and then they just can't
get any no runs at all. That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:41:55):
Yes, that's yeah. Well I know one person who always
does his job. That's to Marjay Moore.
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Thank you for the playoff baseball intelligence and insight.
Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
Appreciate you, of course, my friend. We'll see you next week.
We'll see you next week, babe. Yes, all right, VJ,
do this like you're Sharon Moore coaching the end of
this football. Don't do that to me right now. Shortly
after the show hour podcast, we'll be going up.
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
If you missed any today's show. Sure to check out
the podcast to search Fox Sports Radio where you get
your podcasts. Also, be sure to follow, rate and review
though podcasts. Also Again, just search Fox Sports Radio or
if you get your the podcast and we'll see this.
Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
Show posted right after we get off the air. Jack
Tuddle with this turnover, I know two of them. It's
getting later early up there in Seattle for the Michigan Wolverines.
Damn getting later early on the season at the two
minute time out right now? Do you agree with min
what I said during the commercial break? This is it.
They can't Michigan cannot lose any more games because they
(01:42:53):
ranked number ten, leading to a numberand watching the team
which is the pole, people are going to make them
suffer for that. I got them dropping a sixteen seventeen.
It's gonna be a heck of a climb to get
back up into the top twelve.
Speaker 2 (01:43:04):
Yeah, it's gonna be rough. It's gonna be rough. We
We got a quarterback though.
Speaker 3 (01:43:08):
With this USC loss pending, so that USC win goes
looks even worse for Michigan. But you to a two
or three Minnesota team on the road right now too.
Both of these guys have looked stupendous so far you
will make the award can only go to one. Who
will it be? Martin and VJ. Get to that coming
(01:43:30):
up next Fox Sports Football Saturday. No, not laying me down,
just coming to your line.
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
I'm at the Tireck dot Com studios, Martin Wis, Vida
Husky keeping the seats warm for Arnie Spanner and Jason
Martin coming up at the top.
Speaker 3 (01:43:45):
Of the hour. They'll be your name all over the
college football recaps.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
Oh, I mean, we got games coming down to the
wire here. Washington just extended lead on Michigan. Minnesota just
scored a touchdown on USC. Both of those games less
than a minute left. How about this?
Speaker 3 (01:43:59):
Enough upset brewing? And what it is that game playing
played in Knoxville right now?
Speaker 1 (01:44:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:44:04):
No, no, no, that's it? Is that in Knoxville. I thought
that was in Arkansas. It's hard to tell with the fans. Oh,
it's an Arkansas. That's an Arkansas.
Speaker 2 (01:44:10):
Okay, fourteen to thirteen right now, Arkansas Razorbacks trailing Tennessee
short of a first down there, but still Tennessee the
fourth three and team in the nation.
Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
A lot of people talk about Nico Ama Levy's a
potential Hivan troc free candidate that will all go down
the toilet right here if they do not win this game.
I'll give you another number today too. Man. It looks
like the number nine, number ten, and number eleven. Now
as this game is watching, the game goes final. All
lost today nine, number ten, and number eleven all went down. Well,
(01:44:44):
USC right now is down. They haven't lost yet, but
they're down under a minute to go right now, So
good win by Washington. Michigan's a quarterback just went that
herd Championship ring still shines. It's funny how they're storm
in the field. Had to watch an these kids are
storming and field and with their three and two record
now four and this was the team that left them
out of the National Championship. Beat him, well, beat him
in the National Championship, kept him from win. But it's
(01:45:06):
all good. I just like I just told Martin, we
have a quarterback. That's all I needed is a signal caller.
Alex Orgie will no longer take snaps at quarterback from Michigan,
nor should he for the rest of the season. Go
ahead and get ready for the portal. Buddy, I said
it two weeks ago. You should be able to throw
the football better than you throw the football right now,
and right now you just don't do it. You don't
throw the football at all. You can't throw worth of damn.
(01:45:29):
So you're not the quarterback anymore. Jack Tuttle is he
was the guy in the summer. I'm not in the spring.
Not sure what happened, Not sure how Davis Warren even
got the start. But Michigan kept raps on it, didn't
put it out there like that. But going into this game,
you could tell if they thought Orgie struggled at all
what he did first sixteen plays, forty six total yards,
(01:45:49):
three punts. They put Jack Tuttle in. Game changes, energy changes,
But Tuttle does turn the ball over the last two
possessions that led to the game winning field goal, in
game winning touchdowns for Washington. So young kid hasn't played
at all yet. The picky threw it's behind the receiver.
You can't win when you're running a crossing route. When
you're thrown to a crossing route, I don't care if
(01:46:10):
it's five, ten, twelve, or fifteen. You cannot throw behind
the receiver. You give the defensive back a chance to
cut underneath and they hit him right in the middle
of the chest interception. Then he got the fumble two
possessions before that, So he'll learn from it.
Speaker 6 (01:46:24):
That it hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
Like I said, even like my Texas Rangers not making
the playoffs this year, that championship ring from last year,
guys still shines just as bright. That is true, absolutely does.
As simple as that. Man, we're in a playoff world
now where one loss does not eliminate two losses. Who knows?
Who knows? It all plays, especially like I said, with
the other top teams losing today, right and let's see,
(01:46:45):
let's say you know, Arkansas pulls this win off. It's
a lot. It's so much football to play, you just
can't judge it. Right now, the clock's ticking down right now,
looks like s See might not get out of Minnesota,
minnesotap twenty four to seventeen, sitting at two and three.
But I spoke about this, Martin did two pack, twelve
pack twelve teams that's coming out to the Big Ten.
(01:47:08):
You must recruit differently in the trenches now. You cannot
recruit the same kids you were recruiting before. And it's
showing up on film. These pack twelve teams are getting
pushed around up front, all right. So Jaden Daniels has
been the best quarterback in the NFL through four games. Statistically,
Malik Neighbors.
Speaker 2 (01:47:27):
Has been the entire New York Giants offense prior concussion
on Thursday night, was the league leader in targets and
just about every other metric you could think of. And
it's kind of giving me Odell Beckham vibes and that
he may just be good enough to keep his quarterback
in place for another year. If you had to give
the Rookie of the Year award out today.
Speaker 3 (01:47:47):
VJ, who's winning, it's unanimously Jadas unanimously. It's not even close.
I wouldn't given Malika vote. It's going to the quarterback
that's got his team at three and one, who went
out to Arizona and put a farough, expeditious ass whooping
on Arizona. It's the guy that's got his team sitting
(01:48:07):
in first place right now in the NFC East. Who
had that? Let's get real, who had the Steelers, the
Vikings and the Commanders in first place in their division
after the first quarter of the season. Raise your hand
nobody did, so I'm giving it to that guy man.
He's playing phenomenon and Martin, he just might be that
(01:48:28):
guy man. Every year in the draft, the good quarterbacks, Martin,
there's always when we want to be the guy. Everybody
wants Caleb Williams to be the guy. It just looks
like that it just really might be Jayden Daiels as
the guy. Bro also helps he's got Cliff as his
play caller. Right now, you see we've been It'll be
interesting to see though this is not the first hot
start we've seen out of a Cliff Kingsbury offense. No,
(01:48:49):
we've seen the weather gets a little colder.
Speaker 2 (01:48:52):
We'll see if they're able to go ahead and continue
doing they're used to that there though they're used to that.
Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
Watch the weather's not gonna affect those guys back now
in the east and the east, and that's where I'm from.
I'm from the DMV boyting brand Man. What if it's Cliff, particularly,
what if it's actually Cliffland. Cliff is like he's holding
his pace. He starts, he starts, he starts calling different players.
Too cold to actually be able to whether that weather
is not gonna affect them Brian Robinson running the football,
(01:49:18):
power runner, Dan Quinn, the head coach that I said
in the off season, you know their defense is gonna
be building. Their defense has been tremendous so far this year.
Watch for Washington. Washington can win this division. Guys. Remember
it won't be Dallas because Dallas won it last year
and the team hasn't won his division in back to back.
And I think in like twenty years a team is
not won the NFC East back to back. So it's
not gonna be Dallas. And do you trust Philly right now?
(01:49:40):
I'm putting it on Washington, all right. We got the
Dodgers with the two run lead over the Padres, the
Volunteers with a one point lead over the Razorbacks, the
Golden Golfers with a touchdown lead over the Trojans. At
Washington beat Michigan. I can't think of a better people
to talk about it that Arnie Spaniards, the stink of genius,
and Jason Barl He's got our next
