Eagles at the Bengals, Ravens at the Browns, Titans at
the Lions, Cardinals at the Dolphins, Jets at the Patriots,
(00:35):
Falcons at the Buccaneers, Packers at the Jaguars, Colts at
the Texans, and rich It is hard to believe we're
almost at the halfway point of the season. Next week
will be the official halfway point. Also interesting this week,
no buys. You got a full schedule of NFL games
that also coincides with the week of the World Series.
(00:56):
And by the way, a reminder, back in the day,
the World Series used to be Saturday Sunday, Monday off, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday off Saturday Sunday. Those days are gone. Now you
go Friday, Saturday, takeoff Sunday. No way you're gonna compete
against the NFL Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday off, Friday, Saturday.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Let me ask you this, Rich, as we get started.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
For the games today Monday night, we don't have exactly
a marquee matchup right, Giants who are miserable on the
road against the Steelers, going against Game three of the
World Series between the Dodgers and the Yankees.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
How many eyeballs will.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Be on Monday night football versus Game three of the
World Series.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Well, the problem for the World Series, even though it's
Game three, is it's not an elimination game, and you
have a real chance in this situation between the Giants
and the Pittsburgh Steelers for a head coach to be eliminated.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
I don't know how many.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
More lost is Brian day Ball can withstand before they
make a decision on him.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
But I mean, let's be honest with each other.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Obviously, Game three is critical, and I'm being a little
bit hyperbolic, but series they really start cooking, They really
start heating up as we get nearer and nearer to
elimination time. With the football season, I mean there's urgency
every single week. So even though that's kind of a
dog meet schedule, right you know, you say, ah Giants
(02:22):
Pittsburgh Steelers up against the World Series, I bet you
it still gets pretty high viewership.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Is oh, I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Just the way the NFL works, they've really cornered the
market on fan interest from a lot of different standpoints,
fantasy football, sports, betting, but also urgency. They've figured out
better than any professional league we watch in this country.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Absolutely well. The games today as we approach the halfway
point of the season, a lot of things are upside down.
You know, I made an over the top pick, but
having the Broncos make it into the playoffs. By the way,
if they beat the Panthers at home today, they will
be at five and three. That I expect the Bengals
to go into this week three and four, the Browns
(03:05):
to be one in six, the Dolphins to be two
and four, the Jets to be two and five. You know,
these are teams that a lot of people the Jaguars
two and five. I mean, these are teams that were
in the conversation as playoff teams. Were playoff teams, you know,
over the last couple of years, and they're not in
the mix yet. And I've just get a sense with
(03:26):
a lot of teams that maybe have overachieved in the
first half of the year and those that have underachieved,
are we going to see a reversal of fortune? We
know some will. The question is as you look ahead,
which teams are going to have that reversal of fortune
in the second half of the season.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah, it's gonna be one of those situations where I
think a lot of offense has got a slow start
because they're breaking in new quarterbacks and I mean both
veteran quarterbacks who are new or newer to their system,
or due to injury they had to make a quick change,
or because they drafted a player or a young guys
(04:03):
getting a start for the first time, or a new
quarterback and a new system type of thing. We were
seeing offenses lurch out of the gates, and so records reflected,
I think it is highly likely, if not very likely,
for us to see a couple of teams kind of
come out of nowhere here and make a mid season run.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Here's a team and an example or the Cincinnati Bengals.
So they opened the year oh and three, they lost
at home to the Patriots, who haven't won since. But
remember they had a one point loss on the road
against the Chiefs, and they had a three point loss
at home against the Ravens, who right now in the
moment look like the best team in the NFL. They
(04:44):
haven't been overwhelming even in their wins. In fact, they
haven't even won a home game yet and they are
own three at home now home today against the Eagles.
This is a really interesting matchup to start off our
day here Bengals at home against an Eagles team that
still doesn't look right. But they're sitting in foreign too
right now, just a half game behind the Commanders in
(05:04):
the NFC East.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Yeah the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, it's been years now where we've been saying this
about the Philadelphia Eagles. They just don't look quite right.
But they've been doing some good thing in spite of
all that. They still have a talented quarterback, they still
have talent all over the offense. That defense is one
of the fiercest units when they play up to their potential.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Sae Kwon Barkley obviously has had a big boost for
their offense this year.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yeah, one of the best free agent signings this offseason
He's had a real great start to a season. So
you look at a lot of things Eagles are doing
and you say, well, they're dangerous, and also they're playing
in an NFC East that's winnable. Look as good as
Washington has been to start the season with Jayden Daniels,
he's a rookie, there's gonna be plenty of growing pains.
(05:49):
The New York Giants, we know the story with them.
The Dallas Cowboys. They have a coach and an owner
who seemed to be at odds with each other. That's
never a good thing, especially when they've under formed at
times to start their season. So the NFC East is
wide open in my opinion, and I think the Eagles
can make a search here midseason.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Two and five verses one and six. That's what's happening
in this Jets Patriots matchup again. Patriots on a six
game losing streak the Jets. Every week, everyone keeps saying
this will be the week, this will be the week.
Last week, Devonte Adams was in the lineup and they
had one of their worst losses of the year. I
know everyone has been holding out hope this one. If
(06:31):
you're a Jets fan, rich You've been one of those
that's still a believer in the Jets. I talked to
Adam Kaplan yesterday. He was a big believer in the Jets.
I guess until last week. It's rare that you would
fire an interim coach. So they're gonna ride away the
rest of the way. I'll put it this way. If
they lose on the roads to the Patriots today, I
(06:53):
think you could officially put the final nail in the
coffin for their twenty twenty four season.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
If they lose to the Patriots today, Yeah, I think
that's the death knell, that's the death rattle, that's the
final breath, because how do you really come back from that?
I look, crazy things have happened, maybe even crazier things
have happened in the NFL, maybe even in this division.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
But that would be an that would.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Be an incalculably hard loss to swallow for a group
that's already fired their head coach. That's getting less than
they thought they would get out of the quarterback position.
And that's true. Now you can say, well it's just
around the corner. When Aaron Rodgers puts it all together, well,
it's we're already seven games under the belt here, so
(07:39):
how many more games are we going to be waiting?
I mean, he's got ten left and they only have
two wins, So if you start doing the math, they're
gonna have to be a really good team the rest
of the way if they lose to the Patriots, I mean,
maybe the best team in the NFL, which they look
nothing like right now.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
We have a tyreeg Hill siding. He hasn't gotten in
the end zone yet, but oh, it's amazing with Tua
Tongua bay looa back, a quarterback for the Dolphins today,
one of the big stories in the NFL. And on
their opening drive to it is four or five for
forty three yards, they're already at the eight yard line
of the Cardinals and they just got a oh they
fumbled at the goal line. Did you see it? Look
(08:19):
like he was going in the end zone and he
fumbled at the goal line and it was recovered by
the Dolphins, So they got a break right there. Just
as he who is that he was going It was
sort of like a shuttle pass over the middle, and
just as he was to go into the end zone,
(08:40):
he got stripped of the ball right at the goal line,
and fortunately for the Dolphins they recover. Oh it was
knocked out short pass to wait, they looked like the
Cardinals recovered. The guy dive right on it. How did
he not recall he got away from him?
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Oh wow, about geez, we.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Have our first touchdown Rich. That would be courtesy of Shocker.
The Detroit Lions at home against the Apples Titans.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Hold on, hold on, shocker, David Montgomery. Yeah, verge, David Montgomery.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
First touchdown of the day actually goes to Kyle Pitts.
Oh you know, the guy that always scores touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, wow, you're right.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
The Falcons get on the board first on the road
against the Buccaneers. Big battle in that NFC South, both
teams coming in with a four and three record, So
we'll keep our eye on that game. And then right now,
the Dolphins now have a third and goal on the
Arizona one yard line after recovering that fumble. Bengals on
(09:38):
their opening drive are down to the sixteen yard line
first and ten against the Eagles. Joe Burrow perfect eight
for eight forty five yards. His stats this year off
the charts. Joe Burrow has had a great season. The
problem for the Bengals, Well, their defense is not good.
That's gonna be the big question today. We talked about
this Eagles team based on some of the rushing numbers
(10:02):
of that Bengals defense, Barkley should have a big day.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Yeah, yeah, you would expect so. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
The Bengals they're middling team at best in a lot
of defensive categories. Their bottom of the league in scoring. Obviously,
it's really been a struggle all season long. But Joe
Burrow has played sensational football.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
He has been the only.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Bright spot in an well I shouldn't say the only
bright spot because he has help around that offense, but
he's been one of the major reasons why the Bengals
have been able to keep this season afloat. After getting
off to an zero to three start, they lost. They
lost four of their first five games, with their only
win coming against the Carolina Panthers, But then they rattled
off two straight heading into this matchup against the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
All right, moster gets into the end zone, so the
Dolphins do score and they get the extra points. Seven
to nothing. Dolphins on their opening drive to a Tonga
Bay Law five to six forty seven yards.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
This team has had zero offense with his absent.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
And what's interesting is talking to Adam Kaplan our Fox
Sports Radio NFL insider yesterday, he said Tua actually was
ready the last couple weeks. Sir, it's been a mystery
to where is Tua. But at least on that opening drive,
he looks good. Meanwhile, how about this. The Cleveland Browns
(11:23):
have stoned the Ravens on their opening drive. So you know,
Lamar Jackson six is six sixty five yards, but the
Browns stop him on fourth down and take over.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
The Browns kind of remind me of a broken clock
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
You know, it's gonna be right, like twice a month.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
They do look good at times now, almost never offensively
with Deshaun Watson as their starter, and after the Achilles tear,
will see how they look today without him.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
But you look, you look at the Browns defense and
you say, well, they've got bodies. Yeah, got real players
over there.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
This is a playoff team last year.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
And by the way, a playoff team in spite of
starting six different quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
That's the reason why Stefanski was named Coach of the Year.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
So let me ask you this addition, by subtraction with
Deshaun Watson out for the year, and I've.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Been saying it for weeks now, it was very clear
almost from the jump at the start of the season
that whatever they're trying to do and get to him
or get to with him is not working offensively, and
so either Stefanski had to change his scheme to suit
DeShawn better, or DeShawn had to buy in one or
the other. It felt like neither side would bow and
(12:35):
as a result, we were just seeing poor football. And look,
I mean, you never cheer lead for injuries. You never
want to see a player get hurt and lose an
opportunity at competing during a season or even potentially having
an effect on his career. But Deshaun Watson not being
(12:56):
able to play maybe the best thing for the Browns
from the standpoint of look, I think I think anybody,
just about anybody walking through the door in Cleveland could
have done as good or a better job than DeShawn,
And it felt like they were chained to him because
of that contract he signed.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
All right, Watching the Bengals right now, second and goal
at the Eagles two yard line, Burrow is gonna roll
out throw touchdown. Bengals as they get the Jamar Chase
two yard touchdown reception. So the Bengals score on their
opening arrive against the Eagles. We are often running already
touchdowns across the board around the National Football League. For

Burrow catches, drops back to throw, begins rolling of the light.
He's at the twelve yard line. Throws into the phone,
Holy bin catch hand the touchdown, bite Cha Marchase hand.
The Bengals take more than nine minutes off the clock
and score a touchdown to begin the game.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
At seven hundred WLW Bengals to radio network. Bengals early
seven to nothing lead against the Eagles. Eagles are on
the move. They're in the red zone of the Bengals again,
minute forty one to go in a first quarter. Very
busy start to our NFL Sunday. This is Red Zone Radio.

the move after stopping the Jets.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
And so they're they're moving right now the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Of course, Drake May taking over as the quarterback a
couple of weeks ago, and so far the reports on
this rookie quarterback class. We look back, you know the
disaster that was the twenty twenty one class. This class
is looking pretty good so far. Look what bo Nix
is doing in Denver. Obviously, we got the showdown today
between Kayleb Williams and Jaden Daniels, and Drake May, with
(15:31):
very limited resources, is looking pretty decent himself so far.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
For sure.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
From where the Patriots were with Jacoby Brissett, who at
the start of the season. At first blush I was saying,
you know, I like Jacoby Brissett. I think that he's
done a couple of times, when given opportunities, some nice
things to fill in as a starter or also be
the name starter as a bridge quarterback.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
This year really did not go well.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
For him under center, and the change needed to be made,
and Drake Mayson stepping in, it feels like he's breathed
new life into an otherwise pretty desperate situation already. Girod
Mayo I think feeling the pressure early on in his
tenure as a rookie head coach.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
All Right, Drake may just ran it in for a touchdown.
Seventeen yard run for Drake may He looks a little
bit like Josh Allen, doesn't he by go.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
A little bit.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yeah, it's a little big guy, big guy. He can room.
By the way, He's three for four for twenty three
yards passing. Aaron Rodgers is one for two for negative
one yards.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
So that's the start of the game.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
We said before the game, if the Jets lose to
the Patriots, it's bad. I mean call it a day.
I mean, I don't know what else you can call it. Meanwhile,
the Brown's right now have a fourth down on the
Ravens nine yard line. By the way, again I referenced
Adam Kaplan, but he said look out for the Browns today.
(16:57):
You know they they'll make it a game. And again, Rich,
we were just talking about it, you sort of rid
yourself of, you know, just that dark cloud hanging over
this team with the whole Deshaun Watson contract and everything else.
And now he's out of the building and their defense
at least early on showing up. So the Browns fourth
and sixth at the Baltimore nine yard line obviously will
(17:19):
be looking for a field goal attempt to at least
take a temporary lead.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Yeah, the Browns. I agree with what Caplan said about
the Browns today. I think when you have again, we
were just talking about Jacobe Persett being replaced by Drake
May And even though you know, you may think to yourself, well,
Jacoby's been playing for a while. It's not a very
good team, not very good players around him. What is
Drake meygan to do? Sometimes changes are the biggest change,
(17:44):
just the change itself, having a new face, a new
voice in the huddle. It reinvigorates people, or it forced
his guys to lock in a little bit more and
rally around the next guy in. So yeah, maybe Jacoby
Brissette was the voice that the Patriots heard all summer
long and all offseason long in the huddle. Well guess
what the same thing for the Browns. It might have
(18:05):
been Deshaun Watson the whole way this offseason. But you
get an opportunity to see a fresh face, new blood
in the huddle, everybody rallies around and tries to help
that guy have.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Success another team. Next guy in Tampa Bay. I mean,
your receivers are gone, right, and yet Kate Aughton just
caught a touchdown passer Baker Mayfield. So the Buccaneers banged
up right now, huge showdown in this NFC South seven
to seven Atlanta and Tampa Bay. And you know, some
of the questions about Baker Mayfield after he had this
(18:37):
tremendous season a year ago, many could have made he
really should have been comeback Player of the Year because
he had gone down to what was a third string
quarterback on the Rams and it was over and he
had a huge comeback here last year.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
But then it's usually that whole story. Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yeah, he has that big year, always back and then
all of a sudden he falls back.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
This year, he's holding it together.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Baker Mayfield right now is in that upper echelon of
quarterbacks in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Yeah, he's He's been playing incredible football since he's basically
been signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's been paid
for it now and he's continued Baker Mayfield. Without him,
it definitely feels what happened to the Patriots after Tom
Brady would have happened to the.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Buccaneers after Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
But Baker Mayfield kind of came in there, swooped in
and saved the day. And You've said it before, and
I think there's an awareness about Baker Mayfield's moxie. When
the chips are stacked against him, it sort of feels
that's when it all kicks together for him. And it
did feel like heading into Tampa Bay, as you mentioned,
kind of getting scooped off of the depth of the
(19:51):
Rams depth chart. He was just given this opportunity and
he went out there and played like he had a
chip on his shoulder since the first time since college
and it's really worked for him.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Mason Rudolph, quarterback for the Titans today, throw an interception
early in the game. Now he has just run the
ball into the end zone. Chris, give us an update.
How do the Lions allow Mason Rudolph to run it
into the end zone extra point away from tying this game?
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Very carefully?
Speaker 8 (20:20):
Basically, No, they just whift on a tackle there about
like six yards out that.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yeah, he went on when I see Mason Rudolph juking,
juke Trevor Towaski who had the interception earlier on Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
So a little bit of revenge there, all right.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
So the Titans now attempting the extra point to tie
up this game. Titans a huge dog, seven to seven
right now, four minutes to go in the first quarter.
Lions and the Titans. Meanwhile, the Dolphins rich up already
seven to nothing to a tongue of I low is
ten for eleven seventy two yards. Yeah, well, I mean
this is a Dolphins offense that it completely evaporated in
(20:58):
his absence. Now he's and this is again one of
those teams. Dolphins come in at two and four. Can
they keep to a healthy and if he is healthy,
can they make a run to the postseason?
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Well, critical game for the Dolphins today, no question about it.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
They need to get a win.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
They need to start stacking wins if they're going to
get into the wildcard conversation or back into the playoff conversation.
At all start of the season, especially looking at how
this offense played when two was healthy, it felt like, well,
things are gonna go off gangbusters, just like they've had before.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
But just like they've had before.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
An injury at quarterback Tua on the field suffering with
a concussion, his career once again taken into consideration, and
there was a lot of banting about talking about whether
or not it's the best thing for him to continue
his career. Well, the truth is about all of this
when it comes to somebody else's career, is the best
(21:55):
decision is to his decision. So he decides to play
and he comes back. And by the way, I said
it too weeks ago, and I stand by it, they
should just give two of the MVP based on how
bad the Dolphins look without them.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Yeah, I mean again, who's the most valuable player? Well
before and after looks like night and day for this
Dolphins offense.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
All right, let's find out what is trending right now.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
And yeah, she was there for a very exciting Game
two of the World Series.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
That was a heck of a game yesterday.
Speaker 9 (22:26):
It really, I mean, so was Game one. Honestly, both
of them have been really great.
Speaker 10 (22:29):
Yes, I'm still tired because I think from the screaming, yelling, jumping,
I still feel tired.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
But being out of the end of the game loaded.
Speaker 10 (22:38):
Yes, my mom sent me a Texas She almost had
a heart attack and I got the end there and
I was.
Speaker 9 (22:42):
Like, okay, but it all worked out. It all worked out.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Now, was this?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
How many World Series games have you been to? You
went to games right in twenty seventeen and eight.
Speaker 10 (22:49):
Yes, So I went to Game one and Game seven
in twenty seventeen.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yes, and then I went.
Speaker 9 (22:54):
To Game three.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Game did you stay Tilly? I did because I was
outside reported for the local TV throughout that entire game.
Speaker 10 (23:03):
So we got up in the eighteenth inning, but slowly
started making our you know, like you get up and
you're out of your seat, but you're watching and you
start making your way because it was Yeah, this set,
I was like eighteen innings, you know, and then literally
like we're at the gates and we're like, let's just wait,
let's just.
Speaker 9 (23:16):
Wait, and then we heard we heard the bomb.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
We started hunting the home run.
Speaker 10 (23:19):
We started running to the car because we were like,
it's gonna get crazy. So like it was just we
were we were not saying past eighteen innings. We were
not Like if it would have gone to nineteen, I
was not going to be there.
Speaker 9 (23:30):
It was a long day.
Speaker 10 (23:31):
So this will be This was my fourth World Series game.
Very lucky to have been to my fourth World Series.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Oh, you're good. Luck for the Dodgers yesterday, eight games today, monci.
Speaker 10 (23:40):
Eight games to continue Week eight. Yes, let's start with
the Bengals in the Eagles. Do you guys know the
Eagles are the only team that has not scored points in.
Speaker 9 (23:49):
The first quarter of the entire season?
Speaker 10 (23:51):
Wow, not even a field wall, Like, they have not
scored in the first.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Why don't you tell us about the Eagles? Why didn't
you tell us?
Speaker 9 (23:57):
And I just went back to confirm and they have not.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
Were you guys not listening to countdown to kickoff?
Speaker 4 (24:01):
We're all.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Missed that part of it.
Speaker 10 (24:06):
Well, they do have a field goal, but they scored
it in the second quarters. But the Bengals are still
up seven to three. They just got going in the
second Joe Burrow connecting with Jamar Chase. That's how they
got that touchdown. The Browns are beating the Ravens by
a field goal three zero. They're about to start the
second quarter. You were just talking about Mason Rudolph tying
the game against the Lions with a rushing touchdown. In
his opening drive, he threw a pick, but at least
(24:27):
he made up for it. So the Titans and the
Lions are tied at seven apiece with four minutes to go.
The Dolphins have added a field goal, so they've extended
their lead over the Cardinals.
Speaker 9 (24:34):
It's ten zero, one minute to go in the first.
Speaker 10 (24:37):
Patriots Trake may with a rushing touchdown, beating the Jets
at home seven zero, four minutes to go in the first.
The Falcons may have scored first today, but the Buccaneers
have already responded Baker Mayfield connecting with Kate Atten, So
the Falcons Buccaneers tied at seven apiece late in the first.
Packers and Jags are scorelessly in the first, and the
Polts and the Texans are tied at three apiece with about.
Speaker 9 (24:57):
Six minutes to go in the first quarter.
Speaker 10 (25:00):
If you guys saw what Miles Garrett dressed up as
today coming into the game against the Ravens, look it
up online and anyone listening.
Speaker 9 (25:08):
But he came in as terminator.
Speaker 10 (25:10):
Yeah, really went he loves Halloween.
Speaker 9 (25:13):
He went all out on it.
Speaker 10 (25:15):
It looks so so good, and it looks like the
Lions just scored.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Jamier Gibbs just ran seventy yards for a touchdown and
he was not touched and he was not not touched.
Seventy yards touchdown. I mean Montgomery's good. Gibbs is off
the charts. Yeah, off tackle play, untouched, Yeah, seventy yard touchdown.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
These are the sort of plays that it feels like
the Lions and the Ravens are the only teams who
are getting them.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
That is so well blocked.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
And then obviously you have an absolute scorchret running.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Behind I mean, untouched on a basic off tackle play.
Right now, the Lions and the Ravens are a step
ahead of everyone else.
Speaker 9 (25:55):
Seems that way right now.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
I mean good change, you know, And I said this
before I take it.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Your dumb Monciay. Okay, that's what I didn't want to
step on you. By the way.
Speaker 8 (26:09):
By the way, as you guys were saying this too,
we're watching the Ravens game in here, and Derrick Henry's
bolting off another big run.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah, of course.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
But I mean, the last time the Lions won the
NFL Championship was nineteen fifty seven. In the NFL Title Game,
they beat the Cleveland Browns. The original Cleveland Browns became
the Baltimore Ravens. A little symmetry here, but if you
were to say who would you bank on right now,
we gate it just seems like rich the Ravens and
(26:37):
the Lions are playing at a different level.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Yeah, I mean, there's absolutely no question about how physical
they are and how how bad teams look after facing them.
That's a curiosity as well. Teams that face the Ravens
are the Lions on the other side of those games.
Look at them in the games they play slow starts, losses.
They just looked like they've been through a war. It
(27:01):
almost feels like the NFL should prescribe bye weeks after
facing Baltimore Detroit this year.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
All right, coming up later on, the Chargers are going
to be hosting the Saints and for the NFL on Fox.
You'll be on the sidelines. Christina pink Is Johnny Is Christina.
Always great to catch up with you. Let's get right
to this. The Saints where the talk of the NFL
two weeks into the season. Now they've rattled off five
straight losses and look worse week after week after week.
(27:29):
How much danger is in the future of Dennis Allen
if they don't pull off a win real quick.
Speaker 11 (27:35):
Well, I will say this. I don't know about Sinnis
Allen's feature, but I do think that the Saints coming
into this game feel like there's some improvement. Obviously, they've
had a ton of injuries, you know, no Derek Carr,
of course, he's been out for a few weeks. But
they get back, you know, guys like Chrystal Lave, a
few offensive linemen, and so talking to some of their guys,
(27:58):
they feel like this is something that will help them
put things together. Obviously, nothing matters, so you get out
here on the field on Sunday, But I don't get
the sense that it's a weight that anybody's kind of
carrying on them right now.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
And then you look at the other side of the
docket with the Chargers, who are also struggling in their
own right. They just lost, most recently to the Cardinals
on Monday Night Football, although many didn't see it because
it was only streaming available. It was the second game
of a double header, So yeah, that did happen, by
the way, folks, it just may.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Have been hidden from your view.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
But the Chargers, what I'll say about them in Jim
Harbaugh's first season as head coach there, they've been competitive
in every single game. They just haven't been able to
put it together. What's the secret saucer missing? Did you
get a chance to talk to the head coach about it?
Speaker 11 (28:51):
Yeah, you know, we talked to the head coach, talk
to the quarterback, talk to a bunch of their players.
The crazy thing about the Chargers is if you look
from last season to this season, their defense has made
a complete turnaround. So they're just trying to figure out
what the offense needs to do to get going. The
defense has been what's carried them throughout the season. Offensively,
they're still trying to find their identity. They ran the
(29:12):
ball a ton early in the season. That was kind
of what they leaned on and then the last couple
of games, they've been leaning on Herbert's arm, but you know,
talking to coaches, but we just weren't able to finish.
You know, they had eight strives, they're able to get
in scoring positions and then just can't find the guys
to make the finishing play. So I think that's kind
of something that he expects early when you got a
(29:32):
coach that's working with the new teams, getting used to
new players. They're still trying to figure out what their
identity is. But he said, we just want to be
good at both, and they feel like they're kind of
going in the right direction.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Well, I'm just curious, Christina as far as the direction
of that organization, because you see all these wide receivers
flying off the market as we approached the trade deadline.
Obviously that's a deficiency for the Chargers in terms of
experience a wide receiver. Their passing numbers are drowned fort
this year. Is there any buzz at all that they'll
(30:03):
try to make a move to add to justin Herbert's
receiving corps.
Speaker 11 (30:09):
Not that I've heard, but obviously anything can happen. I mean,
they're pretty content with what they've been doing right now.
Obviously he saw it the other night and the same
that they leaned a lot on, you know, their tight
end they get, you know, they're getting health as Wealth heard,
you know, nothing in that regard.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
What has the conversation sounded like around Derek Carr and
Spencer Rattler. Obviously, Derek Carr hasn't really looked to his
caliber of.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Play since he's been in New Orleans.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Spencer Rattler obviously filling in for Car and trying to
get his feet wet at the NFL level.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Early struggles there. So what's the.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Conversation sounding like inside of the New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
I mean, obviously.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Trust Car more, but where are they at in the
development of Rattler.
Speaker 11 (30:59):
Well, I'll tell you that they are a lot more
confident going into this game with Rattler the two games.
To think about it, he's a rookie, he's starting his
first game. He played two games in five days, so
he felt like they got ten days off after their
Thursday night game. He had a ton more time to prepare.
So he feels a lot more settled coming end of
this game. And that's something that the coaching staff kind
(31:20):
of echoed as well. So I think just for sheer preparation.
You've got a guy who's you know, the backup who's
not getting caps with the ones, and then you play
two games in five days, obviously with a lot of
guys who are injured as well. So all the vibe
that you get from them is they feel like steel
come out and perform better today. Also again getting back
a few more weapons on off as well.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Yeah, one other thing, Christina, you're going to be out
at Sofi Stadium today. The Chargers have been having a
hard time really developing a fan base in the LA area.
We're here in LA so we know that.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
Well.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Obviously, we thought the hiring of Jim Harbaugh was the
one move that could move the needle. And yet every
home game seems like a road game. You know, whether
it was Chiefs fans, Raiders fans filling up. I will
say this, you won't know until you're there, but if
there are more Saints fans than Charger fans at so
Fight today, they got some serious problems.
Speaker 9 (32:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (32:14):
You know, I haven't done actually a Chargers home game
in several years. This will be my first one. I'm
here now on the field, but you know, there aren't
any fans and if they can't stands right now, but
you know, won't know till till it's Obviously that's been
a big problem with the LA teams and that was
heart to the case of the last time he did.
The Chargers changed with about four years ago. So we'll see,
(32:37):
you know, I know they're hoping that they get a
lot more of that powder blue of the stands today.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Well, Christina, thanks so much for joining us. Enjoy the game. Again.
We're at that point of the season where you know,
teams are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. So
big game for both the Saints and the Chargers. Christina,
we always appreciate the time.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Thanks so much, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
That's Christina Pink on the sidelines for that Saints Chargers game.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
And just a quick follow up there.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
If the Saints get blown out today by the charge
I can't is Dennis Allen gonna survive this season? Seriously
after five straight losses and I know that, you know,
again Car's been out, They've had a lot of injuries.
I get all that every team has injury. A lot
of teams have injuries and survive, but it's unreal where
a team could start that great for two weeks and
(33:25):
then rattle off five ugly losses.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Well, I mean they're in the pit of despair right now,
and winning cures anything. So when you really, when you
really look at this, this is one of those games
where they can win, and so they need to. If
they lose this game, I think the temperature on the
hot seat is going to it's going to reach critical mass.
I would be shocked, especially depending on how it happens.
(33:51):
If this is a blowout loss for the Saints. I mean,
maybe Allan doesn't even get on the plane in La
if this is a close but no Sakar kind of
lost for Dennis Allen. I know he's well liked, I
know he's well respected. As far as I've heard, he
hasn't lost this locker room yet.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
So you look at a guy.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Like Dennis Allen, you say, man, he's been given a
lot of trust, he's been in a lot of faith.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
But losing six in.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
A row, it doesn't feel like there's many people around
the NFL who could survive that.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
At the head coaching position.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
The Lions offense is explosives as ever, but as we
come to the end of the first quarter. The Titans,
down fourteen to seven, have a first and goal of
the Detroit nine yard line. Mason Rudolph is carving up
the Lions secondary. In fact, right now, he's on pace
for over six hundred yards passing in this game. He
(34:44):
has one hundred and fifty six yards in the first quarter,
so on pace to break the all time record for
passing yards in the game. Mason Rudolph of the Tennessee Titans.
We roll on much more coming up. This is red
zone radio.
Speaker 7 (34:59):
Off out of the gun answer to Jamier Gifts gives
there thirty.
Speaker 12 (35:04):
Fifty foot race down the left sideline, fifty ten five
tuck down the front Lions maybe seventy yards.
Speaker 13 (35:16):
Shooms mear GiB found the opening.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
And they couldn't find him. That's ninety seven won the
ticket Lions Radio Network. That gave the Lions a fourteen
to seven lead over the Titans, But the Titans answered
right back touchdown passer Mason Rudolph. He is on pace
for a record passing day. All tied up, and then
(35:39):
the Lions got a big kickoff return. Chris who delivered
the big kickoffs.
Speaker 8 (35:45):
He seventy two yards on the kickoff return almost looked
like he was gonna go to the house.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
He gets shoved out. Lions back in the red zone already, all.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Right, So the Lions right now third and six down
at the Tennessee twenty one yard line red zone. Radio,
here's Steve Harbin Rich Ornberger rely from the Tie dot
Com studios. And by the way, the Cardinals get on
the scoreboards, so they have cut that Dolphins lead ten
to seven.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Just a quick rundown of the scores here, Rich. So
we got the.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Colts up ten to three early on the road against
the Texans. Packers are up seven to nothing on the
road against the Jags. Bucks lead the Falcons fourteen to seven,
Patriots over the Jets seven to six. I mentioned the
Dolphins ten to seven over the Cardinals, Titans, Lions tied
at fourteen, Browns Ravens tied at three, and the Bengals
with a ten to three lead over the Eagles. A
(36:31):
lot of excitement early on here on this Sunday.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Yeah, scoring and scoring and scoring some more. We're starting
to see the better teams poll away. Although I mean,
how about the Titans. They look much better with Mason
Rudolph in at quarterbacks and switching.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
Out Will Lewis.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
I mean, this is a thing and it's it's interesting
because we're.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Just throwing the ball really well, rights.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
Throwing the football really well.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
And we saw what this coach could do as an
offensive coordinator working with Joe Burrow in Cincinnati, and we
thought that maybe it would aid in the development of
Will Levis and it hasn't. Unfortunately, still is very hot
and cold when he was starting earlier this season. But
Mason Rudolph very very different looking quarterback under center for
(37:17):
the Titans.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Well remember last year he started those games late in
the year for the Steelers and look good. Yeah, it
was like, is he still on the Steelers after all
these years as they have been shuffling quarterbacks in and out.
I dare say maybe the Steelers gave up on him
a little bit too early. Ravens and Browns, this is
quite a story. He got this high power Ravens attack.
(37:39):
You know, right now, Lamar Jackson has distanced himself from
the field as far as MVP. But the Browns are
an inspired group today and they are shutting down this
Ravens offense.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Yeah, yeah, it's really impressive what they're doing and the
Ravens are the class of the AFC as far as
I'm concerned, and I feel like when you look at
what's made the Ravens special over the seasons, it's been
obviously a great defense in a special teams unit, but
also a great rushing attack provided almost entirely by Lamar Jackson.
(38:14):
He has been the rushing leader for the Ravens every
single year he's been the starting quarterback in Baltimore, and
that includes the two years where he suffered injuries and
he didn't even play all the games. There were two
years where he only started twelve games for the Ravens
in the regular season, he was still their rushing leader.
So it's insane how much he's had to do to
(38:37):
keep this offensive float. Do you know who the rushing
leader in Baltimore is this year? It is in Lamar Jackson.
It's Derrick Henry. So with him having a load off
his shoulders, it's been looking so much better.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
But the Browns are putting up a great fight.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
In the first half, Lions retake Delane on a touchdown
passing Jared Goff to brock Wright the tight end, so
the Lions won fourteen lead. Now over the Titans, and
we still got thirteen minutes to go in the first half.
If you bet the over on that game, you're feeling
pretty good. By the way I mentioned earlier, Patriots leading
(39:12):
the Jets seven to six, that's because Greg the legs
Zerline missed the extra point and he's coming off a
week you know, they had some win situations. It looks
like they have a lot of needs on this team,
and Zerline suddenly is not making kicks. Yeah, kickers are
replaceable if you can't get the job done, especially with
(39:32):
the unbelievable percentages the kickers have these days, even from
fifty and beyond. Greg the leg could be in deep
trouble if he can't make extra points.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Yeah, you absolutely need to make extra points. And we've
seen so many close games. There's always close games in
the NFL. Every single point matters every single Sunday, Thursday, Monday,
and sometimes even a Monday nighter where they bury it
on a streaming app.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
It doesn't matter when you play. You need to make.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
Kicks, all right, Texans getting close to a score home
against the Coast. We got a busy Sunday. Keep it here.
This is Red Zone Radio rolling along in a very
busy NFL Sunday morning. This is a red zone radio
and we are broadcasting live from the ti iraq dot
com studios.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Tyer rack dot com. We're gonna help get you there.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
I'm match selection past red Shipping Free Road has a
protection over ten thousand recommending installers ti i rack dot com.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
The way tire buying.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Should be morning on the West coast, early afternoon on
the East coast. And we got some exciting games going
on right now across the National Football League. One quick
update right now, eight minutes to go in the first half.
The Packers, already leading the Jags seven to nothing, have
a first and goal at the well after a penalty
now at the Jacksonville fourteen yard line. The Lions scored
(40:51):
again Rich after another pick. So Mason Rudolph, it's been
good news, bad news. He's made some great throws, but
he's also a couple of interceptions and the Lions always
take advantage of that. So twenty eight to fourteen now
Lions in control early against the Titans.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
If there's one thing the Lions and Dan Campbell has
been great at is capitalizing off of sudden changes. You know,
you have these opportunities where your special teams unit gets
a big return, or your defense steals a possession, or
you know, all of a sudden, you have an opportunity
to score before halftime because you're getting the ball back
(41:32):
on the other side of the half. It feels like
the Detroit Lions in those situations really make the most
of it. It's the hallmark of a good coach, and
a well coached team is understanding the gravity of momentum
shifts and taking advantage of those moments.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
The Colts and Texans are tied to ten. Last week,
I made a bold prediction that CJ. Stroud would not
have a touchdown pass. I got it right.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
He doesn't have a touchdown pass yet either.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Today. On the other side, the Colts come into this
game at four and three, very much in the playoff mix.
Anthony Richardson today is two of nine passing, but one
of those passes was a sixty nine yard touchdown pass
the Josh Downs.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
So you're the Colts, you're in the mix.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
You got Joe Flacco who led the Browns into the
playoffs a year ago. What do you do here? I mean,
do you stay with Richardson as he struggles with accuracy,
because again, no matter how talented you are and the
gifts you may be given, if you can't hit your
target as an NFL quarterback, you're up against it. How
should the Colts handle this if they continue to stay
(42:41):
in the mix in terms of a playoff position.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Boy, it's so tricky, right, because you want to make
sure you give a third overall draft pick every opportunity
for success and you don't want to undermine his development
because of one season. However, we also know how critical
one season can be for the continuity of a franchise.
(43:06):
All these players in your locker room understand who's good
and who should play. And so if your players know
that Joe Flacco gives you the best opportunity to win,
and you are force feeding the team Anthony Richardson, because
the front office or the coaching staff needs to justify
the draft pick, you're gonna start You're gonna start hearing things.
(43:29):
And that's where it felt like the Cleveland Brown situation
was heading with Deshaun Watson, right, it felt like the
wrong guy was starting at quarterback. You didn't even necessarily
know if it was going to look better with the
guy or the guys who were on the bench for
the Cleveland Browns, but you just knew it wasn't looking
good with their current starting quarterback. So he's getting force fed.
(43:53):
You could end up in a situation like that much
faster with the Indianapolis Colts because you know Joe Flacco
can play.
Speaker 4 (43:59):
You absolutely know he can play.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
The Browns and the Ravens six to three. The Browns
are leading this game with under four minutes to go
in the half. The Browns will outgained the Ravens in
this game. Let's think about this. So Jameis Winston is
ten to fifteen, one hundred and ten yards passing in
this game. Lamar Jackson six to nine, just sixty five yards.
(44:23):
Dereck Henry has five carries for forty seven yards, but
thirty nine of those yards came on one carry. Take
that away. He has four yards for four carries for
eight yards. So they're playing this on very even terms.
And this looked like, you know, on paper, a huge mismatch.
The Ravens I think, are what eight and a half
point favorites at least on the road against this Browns team.
(44:44):
But this again tells you week to week in the NFL,
just when you think, all right, now, here's this is
a gimme right, come on. I mean the Browns Jamis
Winston and a quarterback Lamar Jackson's on fire right now.
The Ravens offense can't be stopped. Well, they're getting stopped
today by a very inspired Browns defense.
Speaker 4 (45:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
I really love watching teams respond to turmoil, right, whether
it's internal or external. When a team is starting to
get counted out, or you know, huge change that may
have a negative impact on their season is made, or
an injury occurs, I love watching team's rally and look,
Kevin Stefanski has done a phenomenal job keeping the wheels
(45:26):
on the on the rails at multiple times during his
tenure as head coach in Cleveland. I mean, just think
about the firestorm that was at the Cleveland Browns front
door when they traded for and signed for Deshaun Watson
in the first place. I mean, that was a nightmare situation.
And I don't even know if Kevin Stefanski wanted Deshaun Watson.
Speaker 4 (45:46):
Maybe he did.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Maybe this was a decision made over his head and
he had to deal with the outcomes. But he's found
a way through it all to sustain some level of success. Now,
has it been great, No, because Deshaun Watson hasn't been great.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
But when he's been injured.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
And he's had a patch together game plans with backup quarterbacks,
he's had success. And so it's not shocking me entirely
that this coach and these players are rallying around Jamis
Winston and putting up a great fight against the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
All Right, one game definitely living up to the hype
today is this battle in the NFC South between the
Falcons and the Buccaneers, and Kirk Cousins has just thrown
his third touchdown pass of the game, this one to
Mooney after two earlier touchdown passes the Pits. So Kirk
(46:37):
Cousins nine of thirteen, one hundred and eighty yards, three
touchdowns and no picks. Meanwhile, on the other side, Baker
Mayfield fifteen of seventeen on thirty two yards, two touchdowns
and no picks, and that's without his top receivers in
the game for the Buccaneers. So I always like when
a game two four and three teams looking for sort
(46:58):
of you know, take a foothold in that NFC South
and right now. This one is a great shootout between
quarterbacks both playing at a high level, Kirk Cousins and
Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
Yeah, you gotta love what you've seen from Kirk Cousins,
you gotta love what you've seen from Baker Mayfield, and
both of them kind of similar situations joining their NFC
South teams. Baker Mayfield taking off the scrap heap, so
to speak, and given an opportunity to be a bridge quarterback,
and he wins the starting job. Kirk Cousins a little
(47:30):
bit different, but a lot to prove, right, he has
an achilles injury, he signs the big contract. However, they
then trade up and draft the starting quarterback from Washington
who appeared in the National Championship Game in Pennix Junior.
So it felt like Kirk Cousins and Baker Mayfield both
had to keep a younger quarterback at Bay by proving
(47:52):
that they should be the starting quarterback in Tampa Bay
and Atlanta, respectively, and so far they have all.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Right, Bob, let's get an update on your Eagles game
here against the Bengals. It's only ten to three, so
the Eagles are, you know, in it, and they have
the ball right now on the Cincinnati thirty three yard line.
We just hit the two minute warnings, so we're inside
two minutes right now. What's going on with your Eagles offense?
Speaker 5 (48:19):
Same thing that always goes on with them.
Speaker 1 (48:20):
There's a nice there's a nice first down pass, perfect
pass there from Jalen Hurts to Brown. So now they're
in goods at the sixteen yard line of Bengals.
Speaker 5 (48:31):
You know, the big issue in this game on the
Bengals touchdown, I think Nolan Smith was covering Jamar Chase
in the end zone. That's a linebacker on the top
two wide receiver in the league, So I don't know
if that's going to go in. Yeah, your favorite every time.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
But well, actually considering the Burrows got pretty good numbers obviously,
sixteen or twenty three hundred and seventy yards, a touchdown,
and no picks. The one thing missing for the Bengals
is they have no run offense and Saguan Barkley so
far only twenty eight yards rushing for Saquon against a
Bengals team that has given up plenty of yards on
the ground, so still waiting for Saquon. His long run
(49:07):
so far today is seven yards to break one off.
Speaker 5 (49:10):
That's fine. He's one of those guys that can go
for seventy that Rich failed dimensioned earlier.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
So yeoh, sorry about that. Yeah, let me forget. I
mean the home run hitter out of Penn State. I mean,
there's no question to be added to the list.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
But yeah, Saquon Barkley, he has not gotten loose in
this game. But you know this bow as well as
anybody who watched him in college.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
He's a little bit of a feast or famine rusher.
Speaker 3 (49:35):
He'll get three yards, two yards, negative, one yard, and
then all of a sudden he'll rack off one of
those seventy five yard rushes for a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (49:43):
You go, where has that been all game long?
Speaker 3 (49:45):
You love it when it happens, but it is a
little bit of feast or famine with Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
By earlier, we failed to report that Drake May, new
England quarterback, was taken off with concussion protocol. What was
the update on that one, Chris on Drake May, I know,
Jacoby Brissett came in.
Speaker 8 (50:04):
No, he's just being evaluated from concussion, was last report.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
I all right, so Jeffson evaluated. It's been a tough
start for him today, three of six, only twenty three yards.
In fact, as a team, the New England has eighteen
net yards passing.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
It's not like Aaron Rodgers is lighting it up.
Speaker 1 (50:21):
He's seven of ten, two touchdowns, but he's only thrown
for fifty one yards in this game.
Speaker 2 (50:26):
So tough defensive battle.
Speaker 1 (50:28):
The Jets desperate to get a win at least against
the hapless Patriots, and they lead this game by a
score of thirteen to seven inside six minutes to go,
but both defenses are playing well.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
If there is a situation where the Patriots dropped down
to their third string quarterback at any point in this
game and the Jets don't get this victory, I mean, yeah,
we can call it, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (50:55):
I don't think we even need to check the pulse.
I don't think you know, you could zip the bag.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
You can put the toe tag on the Jets seasons
officially over.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
I mean again, where's their offense?
Speaker 1 (51:06):
I mean they, you know they the I mean, and
New England's got a pretty good defense. I'm not going
to take that away from the Patriots, but I mean you've.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
Got all these weapons.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
Remember how excited you know Aaron Rodgers was to leave
what he thought was a diminishing supporting crew in Green
Bay for these riches or all these young players with
Wilson a bris all and all these great weapons they have.
Now they add Devonte Adams. Still where's their defense? Meanwhile?
I keep watching the Lions making long runs here. What's
(51:38):
the latest one here, Chris? What happened here with the
Lions leading the Titans by a score of twenty eight
to fourteen.
Speaker 8 (51:45):
Interesting little drive there by the Titan by the Titans,
but I think the Lions are clamping down on Mason Rudolph.
And a big punt return by Terry and Arnold's from
I believe he received it. I believe at the fifteen. Okay,
well they need lines are about to start on their
own twenty all.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
Right, So you had a long kickoff return and now
a long punt return. Maybe it's a little time to
get into that special teams room, Rich and do some
search that you don't like to see multiple long returns
in the same game against your special teams.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
Yeah, it's a little bit brutal when you and disheartening
when you're playing.
Speaker 4 (52:24):
Well, you're on.
Speaker 3 (52:25):
The road and all of a sudden, your special teams
units are giving up, you know, getting in the habit
of giving up half fields to your opponent offensively.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Yeah, it always helps a Lion's offense that doesn't need
a lot of help to start on the twenty yard
line for a scoring drive. But that's where they are again,
leading this game by a score of twenty eight to fourteen.
All right, we're starting to approach halftime of these eight
games around the NFL. For all the scores, the stats,
everything you need, We've got it for you. This is
Red Zone Radio. Cousins in the gun. Three to the right,
(52:57):
one to the left, here's Kirk from the pocket. Bro
Mooney talk touch down Atlanta. Tarnell Mooney again just continues
to terrorize Tampa. That's that's ninety two to nine the
game Falcons Radio Network, Big showdown in the NFC South,
First place on the line, and the Falcons lead the
(53:18):
Buccaneers twenty one to seventeen. We got a minute to
go in the first half of that game. Once again,
this is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin, Rich Ormberger with
you here live from the ti iraq dot com studios.
Let's update the scoreboard. Twenty two seconds remaining in the
first half, Bengals lead the Eagles ten to nine. It's
(53:38):
the Ravens over the Browns ten to six, all scores.
Right at the end of the first half, Lions blowing
out the Titans thirty five to fourteen. Halftime Dolphins lead
the Cardinals thirteen to seven. Just before the half, Jets
lead the Patriots thirteen to seven. We mentioned the Falcons
twenty one to seventeen over the Bucks. Packers having a
struggle on the road against the Jags lead ten to seven,
(54:00):
and the Colts Texans are tied to ten. So close
games across the board, with the exception of this Lions
game that has gotten completely out of control. Lions, by
the way, the most points they have scored in the
first half of a game since nineteen seventy. Yeah, nineteen seventy.
Last time they put up as many as thirty five
(54:20):
points in the first half against the Titans team that
despite some promising signs from Mason Rudolph today, zero defense
and their special teams have been atrocious.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
This Detroit Lions team, I mean, yeah, they are special
because everybody's hurt around the NFL at different points, and
you have to handle it. You got to figure out,
you gotta find a way. You need to persevere, and
certain teams can do it. In certain teams cans and
I was talking about this with Chris Purfett, our resident
Lions fan here in studio about this at break. I mean, look,
(54:55):
not all injuries are created equal. You're going to lose
key players at times throughout the season, either for the
entire season or sometimes for part of the season. You
still got to find a way to adjust. And it
looked like early in this game, as a result of
some of the injuries on their defense, the Titans were
having some success. They were still trying to figure it out,
(55:15):
and then all of a sudden, it's just all gas,
no breaks, the Detroit Lions just piling it on right now.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
Well, remember we had the disaster that was the hiring
of Matt Patricias, the head coach of the Lions, and
it looked like a bad situation was gonna I mean,
Caldwell had actually had some good years coaching that Lion's team.
They're bringing Patricia, another failed ex assistant of Belichick, and
that first year Rich you and I were talking about,
(55:43):
you know, Campbell, and they were struggling to win games.
Early on, you were one of those that said, you
got to stay with this guy. I mean, maybe something
will happen. Remember his first year, they're three thirteen and one,
actually had a worse record than the year before under
Matt Patricia. And then the next year you could just
see signs that whatever he was feeding that team, they
(56:04):
were eating it, they were buying it. Jared Gop all
of a sudden one from a guy that was a
placeholder back to a level of being a premier quarterback.
And look where they are.
Speaker 8 (56:14):
Right now, you know, like a big case in that
was how they turned around. Two was even in that
first year, they decided to mid season firing hit the
bye weekend, said Anthony Lynn, former Chargers head coach, and
they brought in as their offensive coordinator. They said, hey,
we're gonna make the hard choice to move on from
you very quickly.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
And that wasn't a hard choice.
Speaker 8 (56:33):
Well but still they then go to a tight ends
coach who's left over from Matt Patricia by the name
of Ben Johnson.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Yeah, that guy's Yeah. The rest is, yeah, how much
they can pay Ben Johnson to keep him quite a bit,
quite a bit. Yeah, Yeah, they don't lose that guy.
Speaker 4 (56:49):
This is what good coaches do. This is what good
organizations do.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
Ye and the Detroit Lions very quickly are turning into
a good organization.
Speaker 4 (56:57):
It's behind the leadership.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
With Dan Campbell, you pay talented coordinators, you pay talented coaches.
In fact, there are times where the best head coaches
will actually take some discounts to make sure that the
organization hires the right people. They'll sacrifice some of their
own salary in order and a lot of this stuff happens.
But behind the scenes, you'll hear from agents sometimes or
(57:21):
front office folks like, yeah, you know, this guy has
shaved a bonus and he gave it to his coordinators
to make sure to keep them happy because he wanted
the gang back together again. Those things happen with good teams,
good organizations, coaches who understand the value of wins and
long term success over short term gains, whether it be
financially or or even you know occasionally with players and trades.
(57:46):
You know, the players are as much assets as anything
else in an organization. Dan Campbell's doing it right. He's
created a culture that I think is going to be
try or is currently trying to be mimicked around the end,
and a lot of teams are turning back to the
run game. They're turning back to what the Baltimore Ravens
(58:07):
have been doing for years and years and years. Now
you got an NFC example, and in my opinion, they're
the best NFC team in the league right now.
Speaker 1 (58:15):
Well, one of the signs of a good team is
when you're playing inferior opponents. Put them away, Yeah, don't
play around with inferior teams. And that's what they're doing
right now to the Titans. Some of the halftime stats,
by the way, the Eagles got it even so ten
ten at the half. Bengals and the Eagles. Big game
for both of these teams. Bengals still looking for their
first home win this year. Burrow sixteen or twenty four
(58:35):
hundred and sixty nine yards and the score Jalen Hurts
seven eleven eighty six yards. He has a rushing touchdown
in this game on one of the old pushes to
get him in. Ravens at the half just barely leading
the Browns by a score of ten to six, and
Jameis Winston has been okay, anything's better than Deshaun Watson.
(58:56):
Ten of sixteen hundred and ten yards. Keystad here no picks.
Car Jackson by his standards, a pedestrian day, ninety five
yard passing and a score. He only has thirteen yards
rushing in this game, so the Browns defense really doing
a number here. Rich Dolphins and Cardinals are at the half.
Dolphins lead by a score of thirteen to seven two.
(59:17):
It got off to a hot start, slow down after that.
He's nineteen to twenty five hundred and sixty two yards,
no score, no scoring plays, and Kyler Murray really hasn't
done much today against his Dolphins defense. Kyler Murray seventy
nine yards passing and a score touchdown pass to Michael Wilson,
and he's got only eight yards on the ground. Marvin
(59:39):
Harrison Junior obviously came in with a huge hype this year,
had some big games early on, but it seems to
have slowed a little bit recently with Marvin Harrison Junior.
Speaker 3 (59:51):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's interesting, right Kyler Murray and this
Cardinals team. The first game, it was a a shootout.
It was an exciting game against the Bills, but Marvin
Harrison Junior really didn't get a lot of love in
terms of the stat sheet, and then all of a
sudden it sort of became the unofficial rule, like you
(01:00:13):
feed Marvin Harrison Junior, and they did so for the
next couple of weeks. They got that huge win over
the Rams and then lost a close one to the Lions.
Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
But since it's been a little bit of mixed results.
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
They've been win some, lose some, and now against the Dolphins,
they're putting up a fight.
Speaker 4 (01:00:30):
The Cardinals are another team. Man.
Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
You know, last year with Jonathan Gannon his rookie season,
things weren't perfect, But I said that that is a
dog with a lot of fight in it, and I
haven't given up hope on the Cardinals. There's that mid
season drop off that we've seen with Kyler Murray. I'm
curious if we're gonna see it this season. It hasn't
happened yet. It could be coming, it could be waiting
(01:00:54):
in the near distance. But I'm very curious about Jonathan
Gannon because everybody ruled out the Cardinals and I'm not
trying to say they were a special team last year.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
They weren't.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
That's the reason why they were able to bring into
talent like Marvin Harrison, junior. But the entire season, they
fought hard, they gave some great teams some real troubles,
and this season they're absolutely better than they were a
year ago.
Speaker 1 (01:01:18):
Well, think about the NFC West going into this week. Yeah,
the Seahawks at four and three, Cardinals Rams after their
win on Thursday, and the forty nine ers all at
three and four, and boy to the Rams look a
hell of a lot different with Poka Naku and Cooper
Cup back in the fall, I mean, four touchdown passes
for Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Their defense did a pretty good job.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Was a tough week for the Vikings coming off a
tough loss of the Lions, short week on the road,
but that being said, the Rams were sitting at one
and four, and if they can keep their receiving core healthy,
is it possible the Rams could win the NFC West.
Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
It's possible.
Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
I mean last year they finished with seven wins in
their last eight games to get into the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
The well coached teams find a way. Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Sean McVay is one of the best coaches in the NFL.
He is, There's no questioning that he is. He's one
of the younger coaches whoever got a head coaching job
youngest excuse me, the youngest, and as a result, I
think there were a lot of people who didn't believe.
Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
Yeah, well he made a lot of believers around the
NFL and.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
He proved a lot of people very very wrong after
that hiring. And he's only continued and he's gotten more
creative with it because he's had to. You know, Jared Goff,
they were run out of rope. They didn't feel like
they could get it done with him. They trade for Stafford,
they win a Super Bowl, Aaron Donald retires. You have
this situation where this team in complexion is going to
(01:02:43):
look very, very different, and they're finding a way. It's
it's the mark of a good head coach, regardless the circumstances,
they find a way to win.
Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
All right, things are moving quickly. Let's find out what
is trending right now. And Moncie, how are your fantasy
teams doing well?
Speaker 10 (01:03:00):
You brought up Marvin Harrison Junior, and I have him
in two leagues and I regret all my decisions, you
know what I mean saying?
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
When he first got on the scene, I was like, Wow,
this is this Guy's going to be a juggernaut. But yeah,
they've struggled, and I think.
Speaker 10 (01:03:16):
He had one game where it was like all right, yeah,
and then's he's been kind of quiet.
Speaker 9 (01:03:21):
So that one hit hit me hard.
Speaker 10 (01:03:24):
The Lions are the highest scoring teams so far intoday's
slate of games. But what's interesting, So the Lions are
beating the Titans thirty five fourteen, less than thirty seconds
to go in this one. Jared hoff has just thrown
for twenty eight yards, but he's thrown a couple of
touchdown passes. Also, David Montgomery threw a touchdown pass to
Sam Laporta. So everyone's just getting involved for the Lions today.
(01:03:46):
So yeah, thirty five to fourteen, seventeen seconds to go
before halftime. Most of these games are at halftime, if
not heading into halftime. The Eagles and the Bengals are
tied at ten apiece Joe Burrow sixteen of twenty four
hundred and sixty nine yards and one touchdown Saquon Barkley
though for the Eagles nine carries in just.
Speaker 9 (01:04:02):
Thirty five yards.
Speaker 10 (01:04:03):
The Ravens managed to get a touchdown rap before halftime
to take the lead over the Browns.
Speaker 9 (01:04:07):
It's ten to six.
Speaker 10 (01:04:08):
Then we got the Cardinals and the Dolphins in Miami,
tou A Togoailoa is back. What a different team. Miami
has now nineteen of twenty five one hundred and sixty
two yards.
Speaker 9 (01:04:17):
They're beating the Cardinals thirteen to seven.
Speaker 10 (01:04:20):
It's also thirteen seven in favorite of the Jets against
the Patriots.
Speaker 9 (01:04:23):
Aaron Rodgers eight of thirteen seventy seven yards, two touchdowns.
Speaker 10 (01:04:27):
Drake may is out for the Patriots due to a concussion.
Speaker 9 (01:04:30):
Officially declared out for the rest of the game. Jacobe
Brissett who will be in as they keep going.
Speaker 10 (01:04:36):
The Falcons are beating the Buccaneers. They just hit a
field goal right before halftime, so it's twenty four to seventeen.
Cousins fourteen of twenty two hundred and twenty four yards,
three touchdowns, and it looks like Houston just took the
lead with a passing touchdown from CJ.
Speaker 9 (01:04:48):
Strau to Tank Dell.
Speaker 10 (01:04:49):
So they are now beating the colt sixteen to ten
with about fifteen seconds to go. With about fifteen seconds
to go, and Jacksonville, the Packers are beating the Jaguars
thirteen to seven, and it was reported earlier today in
the WNBA Fellas that the Fever decided to part ways
with head coach Christy Sides today.
Speaker 9 (01:05:09):
I just find that weird. Yeah, well the timing seems
a little bit weird for me.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
They want I wonder who made that call.
Speaker 9 (01:05:17):
I wonder who made the call. But it's just a
weird day, right, Like why you.
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
Would think you might confer with your superstar over the
coach and if she says sure, yeah, let's move on,
you move on?
Speaker 9 (01:05:28):
Yes, totally, totally and wow.
Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
And the.
Speaker 10 (01:05:33):
Football poll is here, Fellas, Oregon, Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State.
Speaker 9 (01:05:37):
Top four, Miami number five.
Speaker 10 (01:05:40):
It's highest ranking since twenty seventeen, while nor did Dame
BYU and Texas A and M actually moved into.
Speaker 9 (01:05:46):
The top ten. Army is still there, but Navy's out.
Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
By the way, last night that late game with Colorado,
Travis Hunter back in the mix. He was healthy yesterday
at his biggest receiving game. Yet he was on the
field for every play of the game. I think I
think he missed one play. So after a couple of
weeks where he's a little banged up, Yeah, Travis Hunter
very much back in the Heisman chase. All right, Moncey,
(01:06:11):
thank you very much, by the way, you talk about
statistical anomalies. So the Lions are leading the Titans thirty
five to fourteen at halftime, right, Jared Goff, as Moncey mentioned,
has twenty eight yards passing the half. In fact, think
about this, the Lions have nine net yards passing and
they have three touchdown passes.
Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Like I've never seen that before.
Speaker 1 (01:06:35):
So they have nine net yards passing and they have
three touchdown passes.
Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
I've never seen that before.
Speaker 4 (01:06:44):
Neither neither of I.
Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
Really it's it's kind of amazing that in twenty twenty four,
where if you look at the high school level, especially
with the seven on sevens, and you know the quarterback
camps and the flag football leagues and the deep threat
quarterbacks coming out of the high school system, and then
you go to the college system, where it's you know,
(01:07:06):
a lot of the rpo game and a lot of
the vertical passing attack. That one of the best teams
in the NFL right now. You look at their box
score and you look at their starting quarterback and you're like, Okay,
he's six for eight for twenty eight and they're leading
thirty five fourteen. He's thrown two touchdown passes and his
(01:07:29):
running back has thrown a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:07:31):
Pass as well.
Speaker 3 (01:07:32):
Yeah, and they've only netted nine yards. After all it's
said and done. It's it's almost unfathomable. But it just
goes to show you with creativity and and well and
the ability to run the football, you can still win
at the highest level.
Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
Net yards passing at the half, the Titans have two
hundred and twelve, the Lions have nine. Two hundred and
twelve net yards passing to nine, and the Lions are
three touchdowns. Complete breakdown and the special teams of the
Titans a big part of it. In fact, the Lions,
they have one hundred and thirty three total yards. Seventy
(01:08:08):
of that was on one carry by Jamiir Gibbs. You
take that away, they only had sixty three offensive yards
and still thirty five to fourteen. Obviously, a couple turnovers
for Rudolph, couple of interceptions, long returns and then the
long kickoff long punt return set up a short field
for that Lion's offense. But you know what, we said
(01:08:30):
the same thing about the Chiefs. You have the Chiefs
at six and oh right now, and your quarterback Patrick
Mahomes for the season has six touchdowns and eight picks.
He is statistically in the bottom half, bottom third of
quarterbacks in the NFL right now and they're six and oh.
(01:08:50):
And this again gets down to the bottom line. In
the NFL, there are those style points. You gotta find
a way to win. Good teams can find ways to
come with ever adversities they face during the course of
a game and come out with the W at the
end of the day.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
That's when you know you have a good team.
Speaker 4 (01:09:09):
Yeah, yeah, Look Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
For everything negative you could say about Patrick Mahomes so
far this season, and there's plenty, what you have to
say is he's pretty clutch, and he is. I think
he's truly one of those quarterbacks who cares so much
or so little about his own personal success and so
much more about team success. It is the first and
(01:09:31):
only real reminder that Tom Brady may have been a unicorn,
but there's others like him out there, and Patrick Mahomes
proves that case. I don't know if he'll have as
much success as Tom Brady, although he's pacing in that direction.
I don't know if we're going to consider him the
greatest of all time when he finishes up his career.
But this pairing between Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid has
(01:09:54):
been pitched perfect from the start, and whether it's been
baked into him or he's learned a little along the way,
Patrick Mahomes just knows how to win. And I gotta
say the same thing about this Detroit Lions team.
Speaker 4 (01:10:07):
Not to the level of.
Speaker 3 (01:10:08):
A Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes, a Patriots or a
Chiefs team, but this Lions team, they seem to know
how to put away opponents. They seem to know how
to win, and it's been fun watching the process.
Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
Yeah, no doubt about that. So look, the bottom line
in this league is winning. And Patrick Mahomes is number
one with a star and another star and another star.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
He's just the best. And it doesn't matter what the
stats say.
Speaker 1 (01:10:32):
The only stat that matters, as you said, are wins
and losses, and the Chiefs are a perfect six and zero.
All right, So we always get to this point where
we got a little halftime going on, we can start
taking a peek at some of the games that are
coming up a little bit later. Let me ask you
about this game, the Bills and the Seahawks, two first
place teams. The Bills at times have looked good. At
(01:10:57):
other times you're like, eh, not sure with the Bills
right now. Seahawks after that three and oh start, they
lost three in a row, then came up big last
week with a win. Gino Smith is Gino Smith, right,
He's he's gonna be inconsistent.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
He's gonna have some good games, not so good games.
Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
How do you look at this matchup today, Bills on
the road against the Seahawks, where the Bills are a
three point road favorite.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
Well, all of a sudden, you're like, uh, oh, you
know when you're a road favorite, it feels like a trap.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
Yeah, you know what I mean, Like they get loud
in Seattle.
Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
And see that's the other part of this. I was
gonna get to Seattle, especially when they have a decent
team and they've been good this year, especially considering expectations.
I think we're relatively low. He got a new head coach.
They're four and three football team. I mean, the Bills
have a high scoring offense, but they hired a defensive
(01:11:54):
minded head coach, and at times that that side of
their field heads or that side of their team has
really shined.
Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
And Gino Smith has been good.
Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
He hasn't been great, but he absolutely has been serviceable.
And if your defense plays well, if you can steal
some early possessions, you could get the Bills on their
heels a little bit. The environment, as I mentioned, one
of the best crowd environments in the NFL. When the
twelves really get popping off, that could be a tough environment.
Speaker 4 (01:12:21):
For the Bills to escape with their six win.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
Later on, the Bears and the Commanders less.
Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
I love this.
Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
I mean, you've got got you all of a sudden,
have Caleb Williams who started rough and I again the
eyeball test on Caleb was this, he was rushing things
a little bit too much. I thought early on he's
beginning to slow things down all of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
That talent is getting better week after week.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
And of course we had Jayden Daniels get off to
a historic start of his rookie season.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Two teams right now very much in the playoff mix.
Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
Here's a key stack going in Commander's a perfect three
to zero at home, Bears owen to on the road.
How do you look at this matchup between the Commanders
and Bears well.
Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
We'll see if Jaden Daniels goes. He says he wants
to play, he's He's also said it's not his decision
whether he's going to be up for this game or not. Look, Williams,
one of the things that is kind of not discussed
because he's this USC kid, was he grew up in
Maryland and Washington and it was It's kind it's kind
(01:13:28):
of interesting that it's a little bit of a homecoming
for him. I'm very curious if that has any impact
on how hard he plays. I'm sure he's got a
lot of tickets that he's had to buy for friends
and family who want to come and see him play.
Speaker 4 (01:13:42):
Whoever starts for QB.
Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
Or I should say, whoever starts at QB for Washington
against this Chicago secondary is going to have quite a matchup.
Chicago on defense has played pretty decent football. So I'm
very curious to see how how Jaden Daniels reacts in
response to that if it's him, and how he looks.
Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
Also, that's the key.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
If he looks sluggish out the gates, How early of
a hook do you give Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
Here's one of my favorite stats going into this game,
the Bears have had back to back games with five
touchdowns from their offense. The last time the Bears had
consecutive games where their offense produced at least five touchdowns
and back to back games Eisenhower was running for re election.
Nineteen fifty six was the last time the Bears had
(01:14:33):
back to back games where their offense produced at least
five touchdowns. All right, we're gonna continue on. Second half,
will get underway. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 8 (01:14:43):
It's third in inches, the staff to percent handoff game,
It's say run is it?
Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
Loft?
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
Tremdery fights out at the end zone. It's a touchdown
spots here. That's good.
Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
That's good. Bud it stock to second half.
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
That's ninety eighty five the Sports Hub and the Patriots
radio at work. And can you believe it? Patriots leading
the Jets. My score of fourteen to thirteen. Jets now
have the ball first and ten at the New England
twenty yard line. This is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin
Rich Ornberger with you live from the ti iraq dot
com studios. And if you missed it, Drake may one
(01:15:17):
out of this game with a concussion. So Jacoby Brissett
back in a quarterback for the Patriots. He's perfect three
for three. But the Jets fighting for their lives today
and the Patriots are not making it easy.
Speaker 4 (01:15:32):
Yeah, it's it's pretty amazing. How in the NFL?
Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
Hold on, second, here, hold on, we have breaking news
right now courtesy of Monsey Belanos Monsely, what's going.
Speaker 6 (01:15:44):
On from Fox Sport?
Speaker 9 (01:15:46):
Yes, so, Carl Ravich of ESPN tweets.
Speaker 10 (01:15:50):
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts tells me shoheyo, Tani is in
a great spot and will be playing in Game three tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
Okay, So he had a shoulder injury that was clear
on the field as he had a very awkward slide.
Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
I have no idea what he was doing in that slide.
He had his left.
Speaker 1 (01:16:09):
Arm down and extended and you could see it. At first,
I thought it might be a wrist injury. Yes, it
turned out to be a shoulder jam. But yeah, the
reports yesterday was it wasn't quite as bad as they thought.
But huge news for the Dodgers if show hey obviously back.
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
In the de Linu right, my goodness.
Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
Yeah, and let me tell you something that is really
important for not just the Dodgers, but Major League Baseball,
because think about this, the Japanese broadcast that's playing in
in overseas in Japan not only has the game on,
they also have a show hey camera like they have
(01:16:49):
they have a camera that is dedicated just to showing
show Hey o Tani. So you have millions and millions
and millions of television sets that are watching strictly for
one player and one player alone in a country that
all of a sudden has become of great interest in
Major League Baseball in terms of viewership and advertising.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
By the way, when Dave Roberts played his mentor when
he was a young player, was a guy by the
name of Maury Wills, and Maury course one of the
great bass stealers in the history of baseball. And Dave
Roberts knew how to slide. It's a lost art. I mean,
when you see great sliding in baseball, it's effortless, like
(01:17:30):
you be a pop up.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
You know, you come in feet first. And I'm watching
show Hey.
Speaker 1 (01:17:34):
With all the success he had stealing bases second in
the majors with fifty nine steals, I mean, he looks
like he could get hurt anytime. Now, I know, he's
a big guy and maybe he's sliding. He's a little
different when you're that tall. But I just wish these
guys relearn how to slide. Yeah, there is an art
to it, and they used to teach it a lot,
(01:17:54):
and apparently they don't do that anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
Well, it's funny on Red Zone Radio here talking and
I mean same with quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
Yes, absolutely, ever since then. Russell Wilson was good because
he played baseball. Kyler Murray another good slider because he
played baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
Absolutely, you know, and even Tom Brady at times he
showed the goods. I mean, I think he had to
relearn the action because he was mostly a pitcher when
he played baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:18:20):
But but it's it's.
Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
Amazing when you see certain quarterbacks how uncoordinated they look
when they try to slide. Because it is an athletic skill.
It's something that doesn't come naturally. You are never going
to use that in your life, you know what I mean.
So it's not something Look, human beings. We walk and
then we crawl, and then we walk and we run
and we jump. All those things you're gonna need for
(01:18:43):
your life at some point or another. You're never gonna
need a slide, and so it's.
Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Just going through it. You know, as legendary as Gronk was,
every time he went to the ground it looked awkward.
Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
It looked like watching a giant tree being in the
woods by lumberjack.
Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
I swear his career might have been short in a
year or two because he didn't know how to go
to the ground in a way that wasn't harmful to
his actual body. Jets retake the lead on a field goal,
so sixteen to fourteen. Now Jets lead the Patriots eight
minutes to go in the third quarter in that game,
Falcons still lead the Buccaneers twenty four to seventeen. Packs
(01:19:25):
over the Jags thirteen to ten. Texans now have a
seventeen to ten lead over the Colts. Lions are just
blowing the doors off the Titans forty two to fourteen.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Browns have taken the lead over the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
Wow, thirteen to ten, and bo's a little bit happier
now as the Eagles lead that game at Cincinnati by
a score of seventeen to ten. All right, we got
a lot more coming up here. Second half's underway around
the National Football League. Eight games Full slate this week
in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Keep it here.
Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
This is Red Zone Radio eight game second halfs underway.
A busy day in the NFL, and this is Red
Zone Radio broadcasting live from the ti iraq.
Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
Dot com studios. Ty rack dot com.
Speaker 1 (01:20:08):
We're gonna help get you there an unmatched selection, fast reshipping,
free road as a protection over ten thousand recommended installers
tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
You just heard that ninety yard punt return for a
touchdown for the Lions rich forty two to fourteen, now
ten and a half minutes ago in the third quarter.
They only have one hundred and forty seven total yards
(01:20:31):
in this game, but they have over two hundred and
twenty yards in returns in this game.
Speaker 4 (01:20:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
If you look at the average starting field position for
the Lions, because also they picked off Mason Rudolph in
Tennessee territory, it has been I'm guessing close to or
beyond the fifty yard market. They may have average starting
field position at this point in Titan's territory. Bo Benson,
(01:20:59):
we're joking at the break. They may as well say
the Lions starting field position is in the Tennessee Titans
end zone, because that's what it's felt like all game long.
Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
Well, they have one kickoff return for seventy two yards,
three punt returns for one hundred and sixty four yards.
That's an average of fifty five yards a return. So
the Titans special teams have been a disaster today and
really undermine what has been a pretty effective game for
Mason Rudolph sixteen to twenty eight two turn in thirty
three yards in a score. Did throw a couple of picks.
(01:21:30):
Here's why I don't understand about the passer rating. I
don't know how this works. So Jared Goff is eight
of ten for thirty nine yards and two touchdowns. He
has a passer rating of one hundred and twenty two
and a half. He's only averaging three point nine yards
in a tempt shouldn't that count a little bit more?
How does a guy go eight for ten for thirty
(01:21:51):
nine yards and have a passer rating of one hundred
and twenty two.
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Well, it takes seems weird.
Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
I think it takes.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
It takes into account of quantity, buys a lot of
different things including you know, efficiency and I want to
say score. It's been a long time since I looked
at the equation that they come up with.
Speaker 4 (01:22:10):
And one of them, I forget which one. It's either
passer in or QBR.
Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
One of them's proprietary, so we don't even exactly know.
Speaker 1 (01:22:18):
Apparently yards for a temp is not And by the way,
GoF just got sacked. So they are back to nine
net yards passing in this game. Nine Yeah, and they're
leading by a score of forty two to fourteen. So
crazy day for the Lions. Not their normal way of
scoring points. Usually they've been offensive juggernauts. Meanwhile, the Bengals
(01:22:41):
have tied up the game against the Eagles. This game
has the feel of one that's going to go right
down to the finish line. This was a Chase Brown
touchdown run. So the Bengals have now tied the game
with the Eagles four minutes to go in the third
quarter in that game.
Speaker 4 (01:23:02):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
You know what's amazing as we get to the middle
point of the season here and we're quickly approaching it
by week's end, this is the you know what, with
a sixteen game season, this would be the official middle point.
Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
You know, you're looking at some of these games.
Speaker 1 (01:23:18):
And we have a seventeen game schedule.
Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
Now, I know I'm saying the eight game point used
to be the midpoint of this is correct.
Speaker 1 (01:23:24):
Now it's week nine, is officially halfway goas seventeen games
over eighteen weeks correct.
Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
So what I was saying, though, is you're starting to
see teams the cream rise to the top. You're starting
to see the identity of certain teams emerge. You're starting
to see teams that had maybe a slower start come
out of it and start to look like themselves. The
Falcons are a good example, the Saints. You've seen regression.
(01:23:50):
You've seen teams have a hot start, and you've seen
them sort of fall back to earth or plummet down.
And that's been a couple of places around the league too.
So it's very curious to see how teams start seasons
and then at the midpoint, when you do that that
mid term evaluation, Man, it looks completely different now, for example,
(01:24:11):
than it did back in week two.
Speaker 1 (01:24:13):
All Right, I've asked this question several times, and I
want to know who we talk about the AFC, right,
and I think we all agree the Ravens have been
playing the best, although they're up against it today. With
the Browns. They're trying to get back in the lead
against a very inspired Browns defense.
Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
Today, the Chiefs are the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (01:24:33):
You know, they haven't played that great and yet they're
a perfect six to zero. Do you believe in the Texans?
I mean, if you had a choice right now between
the Texans and the Bills, both sitting at five and two,
which way would you lean?
Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
Bills? Bills?
Speaker 3 (01:24:54):
You have a more veteran coach, you have a more
veteran quarterback. Now, that doesn't mean that the Texans can
all of a sudden become what they may be destined
to become, which could be a consistent winner out of
their division in the AFC South. They could end up
becoming the class of the AFC like some of these
(01:25:14):
other up and comers have.
Speaker 4 (01:25:15):
You know, look at the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 3 (01:25:17):
I mean, were we talking about them in such glowing
light three years ago? No, But you let this thing
bake and all of a sudden, they're one of the
juggernauts out of their division, out of their conference. And
so I'm not saying the Houston Texans can't get there.
But if you're asking me right now, seven games into
the season, who I trust more the Texans or the Bills.
(01:25:37):
Over the course of an entire season, it's going to
be the Bills.
Speaker 1 (01:25:40):
Still, Packers come in today five and two. Jordan Love
has played well, but has not played well today. There's
another team, the Jaguars, whose season has quickly gotten away
from them, and yet they're in this game. They trail
the Packers by a score of thirteen to ten. They
get a win. Jackson would go to three and five.
(01:26:01):
And yes, Chris.
Speaker 8 (01:26:02):
Lyons just punched the ball out from Calvin Ridley. So
get any any guesses where they're starting another turnover.
Speaker 4 (01:26:10):
I'm gonna say in Titan's territory.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
Yeah, Tennessee twenty six.
Speaker 1 (01:26:16):
It's just livaball.
Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
So you have to bear with us.
Speaker 1 (01:26:21):
With Chris, you have to understand when you when you
have been covering a team, following a team your entire life.
Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
And I understand this.
Speaker 1 (01:26:27):
My brother in law, whose name is Chris, and by
the way, I got a family photo, my sister, my
brother in law. They were all at the Vikings Lions
game in Minnesota. Rich They've been doing that trip for
almost thirty years. From Iowa, they go to Minnesota to
see the annual Lions Vikings game in Minnesota, and so
(01:26:48):
and he has been this is now Johnny come lately
and this is like Chris R. Chris My Chris, my
brother in law, lifelong, lifelong Lions fans, So I can understand.
I mean, it's it's something that you've never dreamt. Look,
I know Chiefs fans that not in a million years
could they have ever envisioned that the Chiefs would become
(01:27:09):
the juggernaut they are right now, just like Patriot fans
before Belichick and Brady, who would ever ever dreamt the
Patriots but when we're a complete non entity.
Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
Would suddenly become a juggernaut in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (01:27:22):
But when I were talking about this before before the
show too, and like we're watching the Buccaneers and the
streaming team in here. You want to talk about the
original winless oh to fifteen team in the Teampa Bay Buccaneers,
and nobody thinks about them like that anymore. Just well,
at times change for every team.
Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
Let's clarify, they actually were Owen twenty six to start
their career. They went oh and fourteen when it was
a fourteen game schedule, and then started the next year
oh to twelve and get this.
Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
Two years later, they were in the NFC Championship Game.
Speaker 4 (01:27:53):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:27:54):
John McKay was the original coach out of USC took
over the Tampa job, and two years after starting the
franchise with twenty six straight losses, they were in the
NFC Championship Game.
Speaker 2 (01:28:05):
So things can change. I mean, we see it in
the NFL now.
Speaker 1 (01:28:08):
We do this every year rich where we talk about
it before the season begins. Give us three or four
teams that are gonna be way worse than everyone expects,
and three or four teams they're gonna be much better.
It happens every year, every single year, every single year.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
And as we speak, Jared Goff to Raymond forty eight fourteen,
the Detroit Lions take the biggest lead of the weekend
so far over the Tennessee Titans, who are visiting Detroit,
and they're gonna go home one in six. There's absolutely
no doubt about that now with six minutes left in
the third quarter to go yeah. Look, I mean there
(01:28:43):
are certain teams who start a season and you don't
know who they are, and they prove to you that
whatever you saw a season ago, either good or bad,
wasn't who they're gonna be this year. There and then
there are teams like the Patriots when Bill Belichick was
leading them, the Detroit Lions with Dan Campbell, the Baltimore
Ravens for years with John Harbaugh, the Pittsburgh Steelers for
(01:29:07):
years now with Mike Tomlin. You just know who these
teams are gonna be. They are who they are. Their
identity is toughness or physicality, or you know they're great
game planners, or you know they're they're you know offensively,
they're gonna be a juggernaut, whether it be in the
passing space or the run game. Like there's just an
(01:29:27):
ethos and an identity to these teams every single year,
year after year after year. And that's what every single
NFL franchise is chasing.
Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
And it's very very hard to do.
Speaker 1 (01:29:39):
If you are all in with your fantasy football on
Ravens players, you've had a good season so far. Tonight
or today has really been sort of strange with the Ravens.
They have a seventeen to thirteen lead inside five minutes
ago in the third quarter on the road against the Browns.
Lamar Jackson's numbers aren't bad, fourteen to twenty on hundred
and fifty seven yards, two touchdowns, no picks. But what's
(01:30:00):
interesting about this game is Derreck Henry's averaging seven yards
of carry, but he only has seven carries. In fact,
they've only run thirty two offensive plays.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
In this game, so we'll see.
Speaker 1 (01:30:12):
I mean, there's still tony the time, especially when you
have a Ravens team that is so explosive.
Speaker 2 (01:30:16):
They could just you know, a huge.
Speaker 1 (01:30:17):
Fourth quarter and you know, at the end of the
game he starts seeing all those big numbers. But at
least so far, Jamis Winston has a passer rating of
nearly one hundred, has had an upgrade at quarterback over
Deshaun Watson, anything was an upgrade over Deshaun Watson. So
Winston has played okay for them. Nick Chubb has outgained
Dereck Henry in this game. So this this score is
(01:30:38):
not a deception. It has been absolutely even today between
the high flying Ravens and the lowly Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 3 (01:30:45):
Well, here's the thing about the Browns, and this is
going to be the thing that every team's going to
try to do to the Ravens over the course of
the NFL season. You gotta find a way to stop
the run game, if you can find a way to
slow down what they want to do on the ground,
or at very least bend but don't break.
Speaker 4 (01:31:03):
You know, if you want to give up yards in
the middle of.
Speaker 3 (01:31:05):
The field, but then when it comes to getting toward
the end zone or the low red zone, you know,
having them kick field goals instead of score.
Speaker 4 (01:31:14):
Touchdowns, well that'll work.
Speaker 3 (01:31:16):
But Derrick Henry, he's rushed the ball seven times for
fifty yards. Lamar Jackson he's rushed the ball three times
for twenty yards. I mean, they're typically piling up incredible
rushing yardage, and it feels like they've been hemmed in
enough that they've got to go to the air, and
so it's unique. It's unique to see Lamar Jackson throwing
(01:31:38):
the football more than Raven's total attempts. But they've had
to go to the air more against this ball or
excuse me, against this Cleveland defense who are selling out
to stop the run today.
Speaker 1 (01:31:50):
Jalen hurts to Devontae Smith forty five yard touchdown. Eagles
take the twenty four to seventeen lead on the road
against the Bengals again and Cincinnati looking for their first
home win of the season. Inside three minutes to go.
But that's what the Eagles fans have been waiting for.
And DeVante Smith on the receiving and forty five yard
(01:32:11):
touchdown pass from Jalen Hurtz. All right, we're motoring through
the third quarters, heading tordos fourth quarters. Which games are
gonna go down the wire? Well, if you keep it here,
you'll hear all the action. You'll hear it from us.
We'll give you everything you need to know. This is
Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 14 (01:32:28):
Shutgun Hurts looks, he is rolling, he's looking, he's puffing,
he is going deep downfield, and it is caught Defonte
Smith touch.
Speaker 4 (01:32:40):
Doown the bump.
Speaker 1 (01:32:43):
That's ninety four WIP Eagles Radio Network. They're now going
into the fourth quarter and the Eagles lead on the
road against the Bengals by a score of twenty four
to seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:32:52):
Red Zone Radio. Here Steve Hartman and Rich Ornberger.
Speaker 1 (01:32:55):
We are live from the tire Rack dot Com studios.
All right, quick update on the eight games going on
right now, Ravens and the Browns. And the Browns have
retaken the lead. Wow, twenty to seventeen Browns over the Ravens.
Just heading to the end of the third quarter. There
Lions forty nine to fourteen over the Titans. The Dolphins
(01:33:18):
are all of a sudden in a dogfight. They lead
the Cardinals twenty to eighteen heading to the fourth. There
Jets trying to hang on leading the pass sixteen to fourteen.
Started the fourth quarter. There Falcons over the Buccaneers thirty
one to seventeen. By the way, Kirk Cousins four touchdown
passes in this game. How about this, The Jaguars have
taken the lead over the Packers seventeen to thirteen a
(01:33:41):
minute ago in the third and the Texans lead the
Colts two minutes to go in the third by score
of twenty to thirteen. And now the Packers have retaken
the lead. Josh Jacobs just ran thirty six yards for
a touchdown. So the Packers back and forth in this
game against the Jags.
Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
Yeah, you know, I understand a lot of people look
at the Jaguars and they say, hey, they need to
fire Doug Peterson. And you know, Trevor Lawrence, they paid
them all that money. They're no good. I still haven't
given up hope on the Jaguars. And I said this
a couple of weeks ago it just seems like one
of those teams who they had to figure it out
(01:34:18):
this season. I'm not exactly sure why, but it really
did feel like there was something very different about this
team to start, Like you know, last year, if it
felt like they had a long way to go, this
year to start, it felt like maybe they would have
a hotter start.
Speaker 4 (01:34:39):
They had a good.
Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
Draft, they didn't make any splashy free agent trades or
trades or free agent signings, but it just there was
just something missing.
Speaker 4 (01:34:48):
And I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:34:50):
This would be a huge win if they get it
against Green Bay because that's a quality football team, and
Trevor Lawrence, outside of one interception thrown so far today,
he's looked pretty.
Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
Good by the way.
Speaker 1 (01:35:00):
If luks could kill Greg Zerline just hooked a forty
four yard field goal attempt and missed. So the Jets
still lead the Patriots sixteen to fourteen, and they showed
a shot of Aaron Rodgers after Zerline missed the field goal.
Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
Woof yeah wo Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:35:19):
He's missed an extra point. Now he's missed a field
goal in this game, and the Jets, desperate for a win,
are barely hanging on as the Pats will take over
trailing in this game sixteen to fourteen. Again, No Drake
may he's out of this game with a concussion, So
Jacobi were set in a quarterback there. How about this
Dolphins Cardinals game. Early on, it looked like it was
(01:35:42):
going to be all Dolphins, and now all of a sudden,
the Dolphins lead down to twenty eighteen. Dolphins aren't driving though.
Thirteen minutes to go in the fourth quarter, they have
a third and three at the Arizona six yard line.
And it's been a pretty good day coming back for
two a Tongua bai loa twenty six to thirty four,
twenty one yards of score and picks Tyreek Hill we
haven't seen anything of recently. Six catches for seventy two
(01:36:05):
yards with Kyler Murray playing well in this game, rich
sixteen to twenty five, hundred and ninety two yards, two
touchdowns and so he's keeping him in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:36:14):
Yeah, and he's doing it all with his arms. He's
thrown those touchdowns to Wilson and Harrison. Trey McBride having
a big game from the tight end position. I mean,
look the Cardinals on offense, they've got two real playmakers,
and that's discluding their quarterback, and then Connor at times
can can be a real capable, stable running back out
(01:36:36):
of the backfield. So I like the Cardinals offense defensively.
I mean, look, Jonathan Cannon, before he took the head
coaching job in Arizona, was one of the more brilliant
defensive minds in the NFL. He led that Philadelphia Eagles team,
or helped lead that Philadelphia Eagles team all the way
to the Super Bowl. And it was really on the
(01:36:58):
backs of their defense through the majority of that season,
keeping them in close games, helping even on days and
there were plenty of them where the Eagles offense was
not putting out the sort of output that you would
hope for with so many high flying weapons. Their defense
was sensational. They'd get a lot of quarterback pressures and
(01:37:19):
hits and sacks, and they were confusing to prepare for.
And that's carried over with this Cardinals team. I mentioned
it earlier in the show. I'm a believer in the Cardinals.
That's a team that it feels like they're building the
right way. Gannon made believers out of them last year
even though they were one of the worst teams record
wise in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:37:38):
Nobody wanted to face them.
Speaker 3 (01:37:40):
And if they get this win on the road against
a healthy two at tongue of Ilaw, granted it's his
first game back, they get to an even record on
the season, and now, all of a sudden, our serious
contenders in the NFC West.
Speaker 1 (01:37:52):
Raheem Mosart has just scored on the ground, his second
rushing touchdown the day. Increase in the Dolphins lead now
to twenty seven into eighteen over the Cardinals, twelve minutes
to go there. Meanwhile, the Jets just got called for
roughing the quarterback. I mean, this is just dumb football.
You take a couple of forearms to the face of
(01:38:15):
Jacoby Brissett, and all of a sudden, now you've got
the Patriots on the move. They're in Jets territory right now,
and the Jets barely leading this game by score of
sixteen to fourteen.
Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
I mean, we're almost joking.
Speaker 1 (01:38:30):
About this before the game, like what if the Jets
were actually to lose today, like, you know, lose to
a Patriots team coming in on a six game losing
streak with no offense and Drake may goes out of
the game, and here we are with twelve minutes to go,
Patriots driving to at very least maybe get in field
goal position to take the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:38:50):
Well, look, I mean we talked about it last week.
What do the Jets need to start doing better job
of running the football? Well, brisall has had a decent game. Yep,
you know he's carrying the football. His longest rush was
sixteen yards. He's got fifty seven yards. He's averaging over
five yards to carry. That's that's what you want out
of him, you know, you know, you know, his understudy,
(01:39:10):
Allen has had a rougher day at the office. He's
under three yards per carrying. He's carried ten times, so
he's not nearly as effective as Hall. Rogers has had
a decent day.
Speaker 1 (01:39:22):
Pass Where is Davonte Adams too? Catches twenty two yards?
I mean, why aren't they throwing the ball to Devonte Adams?
Speaker 3 (01:39:28):
I was about to say, but the guy that they
just you know, spent some some draft capital for has
been he's mia I don't I mean, And maybe it's helping,
you know, some of this passing game elsewhere. Shutting down
Devonte Adams is going to open up other places to
go with the football. But my goodness, I mean, you
(01:39:49):
gotta find a way to get him involved.
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:39:52):
I mean it just seems unreal that with all the
noise and you know they had the interview with Aaron
Rodgers or Devonte Adams. I'm into the picture, like best
friends and everything else. Why hasn't he been targeted more?
I mean, Wilson has eighty eight yards receiving in this game.
But there's a reason you brought in Devonte Adams not
to be just a decoy. He's got to be productive
and actually get his hands on the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:40:14):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:40:14):
Eagles added a field goals, so they are now leading
the Bengals by a score of twenty one to seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
And you know, this would.
Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
Be a huge win for the Eagles on the road
against a Bengals team desperate to just find a way
to win a home game this year. They came in
zero to three. Now they're down ten with thirteen minutes
to go. But if the Eagles win this game, you know,
all of a sudden, you're sitting at five and two.
Speaker 4 (01:40:38):
Yep, yep, And it doesn't really matter.
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
Like we said with the Chiefs, how you get your
wins as long as you're getting them. Yeah, and so
hats off to Nick Siriani. I mean, weeks ago, was
there a hotter seat in the NFL. I mean, I
guess you could argue Robert Salol, though that kind of
snuck up on a lot of people. Nick year after
a herky jerky start. If he gets this win, that's
(01:41:05):
a big win. That's a real football team you're beating,
because that is a real quarterback you're facing that That
would be an enormous a lifeline, really a life preserver
for Nick Sirianni and a huge feather in the cap
for the Eagles, who came off with that emotional victory
over the Giants in Saquon Barkley facing his old team
for the first time, getting a win on the road
(01:41:27):
would be enormous.
Speaker 1 (01:41:28):
And we have an interception by the Eagles right now
on a tip play. So the Eagles with a ten
point laid and they get the ball back. Great defensive
play right there, ball knocked away intended for Jamar Chase
and on the deflection the Eagles get the interception. All right,
let's find out what is treriending right now, A very
(01:41:48):
very busy sunday in the NFL. Here's Monsey.
Speaker 2 (01:41:52):
Hello Monsey, Hello, Hello.
Speaker 10 (01:41:55):
Hi. So I didn't see it, but apparently Stefan Diggs
went down with a non contact leg injury.
Speaker 9 (01:42:02):
He did walk away. I just looked at the video.
He did walk away. So right now he is out
for the Texans.
Speaker 10 (01:42:09):
I'll give you guys an update once I get one,
but it did seem like a non contact leg injury.
The Texans are beating the Colts at home twenty to thirteen,
and they're about to start the fourth quarter. All of
these games are pretty much in the fourth quarter. Let
me confirm that, yes, they all are officially in the fourth.
The Packers are beating the Jags twenty to seventeen. Jordan
Love fourteen of twenty two, one hundred and ninety six yards.
Speaker 9 (01:42:30):
I don't think he has thrown a single touchdown pass.
He does have a pick, though, but again, the Packers
are winning.
Speaker 10 (01:42:36):
The Buccaneers are losing at home to the Falcons thirty
one to nineteen. The Jets holding on to a lead
over the Patriots sixteen fourteen, but the Patriots are knocking
on the door to score its first and goal at
the Jets' three yard line. The Dolphins are beating the
Cardinals twenty seven to eighteen, Raking Moster with his second
touchdown of the day.
Speaker 9 (01:42:53):
The Lions just can't stop scoring. They just can't.
Speaker 10 (01:42:56):
It's fifty two to fourteen against the Titans. Really a
Jamior Gibbs eleven carries one hundred and twenty seven yards
and one touchdown. Calvin Ridley for the Titans nine catches
one hundred and forty three yards.
Speaker 9 (01:43:08):
The Browns are beating the Ravens twenty to seventeen.
Speaker 10 (01:43:10):
Ravens do have the ball at Cleveland's thirty two yard line,
and the Eagles have extended their lead over the Bengals
twenty seven to seventeen.
Speaker 9 (01:43:17):
They just got going in the fourth quarter as well.
Speaker 10 (01:43:19):
It is official that you will see today the number
one and the number two pick going at it because
Jade and Daniels will be starting for the Commanders despite
that rib injury as they take on Caleb Williams and
the Bears. And in college football, ESPN reports that Rice
has fired their head coach, Mike Blumgren.
Speaker 9 (01:43:36):
They are two and six this year. He's been there
seven years.
Speaker 10 (01:43:38):
They went to consecutive bowl games in twenty twenty two
and twenty twenty three, but they have fired their head coach, Rice.
Speaker 1 (01:43:44):
Yeah, what have you done for me lately?
Speaker 9 (01:43:45):
Well have you done for me lately?
Speaker 4 (01:43:47):
That last ten.
Speaker 1 (01:43:48):
Years, Rice not exactly a Bowl regular and this year
two and six and it's like, no, yeah, we need
to make a change, all right, MONSI thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
I'm watching the Patriots right now.
Speaker 1 (01:43:59):
They were down at the two two yard line, second
and two and Jacoby Brissett fumble the ball, recovered his
own fumble. Now on third down he throws to the
end zone and it is incomplete. No flags on the play,
So the Patriots have a fourth and goal at the
Jets five yard line. Field goal team is coming on
to give the Patriots a lead.
Speaker 2 (01:44:21):
Problem in this game really has been Zerline. He has
been atrocious.
Speaker 4 (01:44:25):
You know what.
Speaker 5 (01:44:26):
You know what other kicker has been a problem today,
Justin Tucker just missed it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:30):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (01:44:31):
He has suddenly gone from you know, surefire first ballot
Hall of Famer to one of the most ineffective field
goal kickers in the league this year. Like, I don't
know what has happened to Justin Tucker. Perennial Pro Bowler,
Hall of Famer and All of a sudden, he has
become one of the least accurate field goal kickers.
Speaker 2 (01:44:51):
Field goal is good, so New England.
Speaker 1 (01:44:52):
Now, Rich leads the Jets by a score of seventeen
to sixteen, seven and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
Minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:44:59):
Man, so you got you have them winning and the
Browns are beating the Ravens twenty to seventeen any week
in the NFL, Right, folks.
Speaker 4 (01:45:06):
It's tough in them streets. That's the deal.
Speaker 1 (01:45:09):
You've talked about road favorites, Ravens big road favorite, Jet's
big road favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:45:17):
Yeah, be careful with those road favorites.
Speaker 3 (01:45:19):
Snana just talking about with the Bills going on the
road to Seattle, their three point favorites.
Speaker 4 (01:45:24):
Heading into this afternoon kick.
Speaker 3 (01:45:27):
It's just it's dicey times when all of a sudden
you get that minus next to the point spread and
you're on the road. Because we know how difficult it
is to be a road team in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:45:38):
Let me ask you this quickly, as someone that follows
the gambling industry as closely as you do lives and
Breeze it.
Speaker 4 (01:45:45):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (01:45:46):
But if you were to only place bets on home
dogs and that's the only bets you would ever make
is taken the points for home dogs. What kind of
betting bad a and average would you have? Well, I
gotta believe it'd be over fifty percent.
Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
You you would think at this point this season or historically,
I'd have to look at the numbers. But man, these guys,
these these these uh handicappers in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (01:46:15):
I know, I know they're good.
Speaker 1 (01:46:16):
They're good, and so I know in primetime games it
was UnrealEd at the percentage of home dogs that would
not only cover on primetime games, would actually win outright.
Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
There was a run there. But anytime you start settling
your money on just one yeah, one side, one stat
one would I mean, you're eventually the house will win.
It's just they're too good at this. So yeah, you may,
you may be able to mine a vein for a
little while, but only time. That's all it takes, because
(01:46:48):
eventually it swings in the opposite. Now, don't get me wrong,
you know, if you want to add in you know
complications like okay, they're it's a it's a road dog
on prime time and the quarterbacks are rookie who they're
you know for the home team, like all of a sudden,
you start adding further complications and then maybe have an
(01:47:08):
equation that can get into a winning percentage north of sixty,
you know, nearing seventy percent. But to find those and
then to be patient enough to wait for those opportunities,
there's very few people who are willing to do that.
Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
Best passing day of the day.
Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
Kirk Cousins twenty one to twenty seven, two hundred and
fifty five yards, four touchdowns, no picks in this game
against the Buccaneers. Buccaneers did get a safety, still trail
the Bucket Falcons by a score of thirty one to nineteen.
Baker Mayfield matching Cousins for most of the games, but
then threw a couple of picks. Game not over yet,
(01:47:43):
still ten minutes to go, and the Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (01:47:45):
Have the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:47:47):
But when you look at Kyle Pitts four catches ninety
one yards and two scores, Mooney five catches ninety two
yards and a score, Bjohn Robinson forty one yards on
the ground, thirty seven receiving and a score. I wasn't
so sure about Kirk Cousins. We mentioned it earlier. He
could be the difference. This would be a win today
for the Falcons. That would give him first place in
(01:48:09):
the NFC South. And as long as Kirk Cousins is
out there, the Falcons are very much, I think, in
control of this division.
Speaker 3 (01:48:18):
Yeah, Kirk Cousins entered this division and it sort of
felt like, well, Wow, all of a sudden, we're going
to have a real showdown in the NFC South between
himself and Baker Mayfield. And I think the Falcons look better,
I really do.
Speaker 4 (01:48:33):
Now. It didn't look that way out the gates.
Speaker 3 (01:48:35):
It took them a little It took them a second
to get the pieces to meld a little bit. But
as we're hitting the middle point of the season, it's
pretty inarguable that the Falcons look the most consistent. Well
see how it bears out. Obviously, injuries play an enormous role.
It's a war of attrition down the second half of
the season when the weather gets colder, and that'll be
more of a problem on the road for the Falcons.
(01:48:57):
But yeah, Kirk Cousins, Captain Kirk, he was worth every
dollar so far.
Speaker 1 (01:49:02):
All Right. The Arizona Cardinals just got back into it.
They have scored a touchdown and now trailed the Dolphins
by a score of twenty seven to twenty five. That
score was a two yard run by James Connor. So
just like that, the Cardinals have cut the lead back
(01:49:23):
to two. Still nine minutes to go in that game,
the Eagles are putting this game away. Bo, what's happening
right now? Looks like the Eagles are ready to score again?
Speaker 5 (01:49:34):
Yeah, big Saquon run down about the one? It looks
like so.
Speaker 1 (01:49:38):
All right, so the Eagles already out ten in this game,
and wow, the you know, the Bengals are beginning to
show a little life here but after if they lose
this game at home with ohen Ford home, Yeah yeah,
yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:49:51):
Can I just point something out about the Cardinals real
quick that I think is being forgotten? Call of Duty
Black Ops six came out on Thursday night, and Kyler
Murray's having the game of his life today. So wow,
maybe he's maybe he's found a way to balance the
two together.
Speaker 2 (01:50:04):
He's got the double XP going.
Speaker 1 (01:50:06):
Are they still timing him on how much time he
spends studying the game playoff?
Speaker 5 (01:50:11):
I don't know, but he did turn that into like
an endorsement deal with Call of Duty This year there's
commercials that feature him and another actor, So good for him.
Speaker 1 (01:50:19):
Touchdown, Jalen Hurts has gotten into the end zone and
now it's just a blowout. We're inside five minutes to
go and the Eagles are an extra point a way
of doubling up on the Bengals thirty three to seventeen
waiting on that extra point. So this this is one
of the more impressive Is this? Well, what do you
think most impressive Eagle winn of the year?
Speaker 5 (01:50:40):
Yeah, you'd have to say so. I think so. Back
to back weeks where they win by double digits would
be a that's a new record on So.
Speaker 2 (01:50:47):
He wanted to fire Nick Sirian a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 5 (01:50:50):
Wanted is still past tense, I would say, I want
to still.
Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
Want to get rid of next. Are thirty four to
seventeen Eagles all over the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
Yeah, and they're doing it the right way, featuring some
of their key pieces around the offense. Obviously, you gotta
feed Jamar Chase and they have. He's been targeted. Excuse me,
I'm going to the Cincinnati Bengals. When you're looking at
Devonte Smith on the Eagles side, you got to feed
that guy in aj Brown. Now that they're both back
healthy and they've done that. You know, combine between the
(01:51:21):
two of them thirteen targets, they've caught the majority of them.
Between the two of them over one hundred and sixty
yards in a touchdown. When Jalen Hurts is getting the
ball to his main receivers, the good things are gonna happen.
And then, as you mentioned bo sakuon Barkley, any game
he's rushing for over one hundred that's exactly the formula
(01:51:41):
for success. Win on the ground, supplement the pass, target
your stars, and Jalen Hurts is going to make it
happen for you.
Speaker 4 (01:51:48):
He's a great game manager.
Speaker 3 (01:51:50):
And I don't want to say that as an insult
because we're just complimenting Kirk Cousins. I'm gonna do the
same thing for Jalen Hurts. He's a great game manager.
So when you have a game that needs to be managed,
you have a great running back, let him eat, get
your stars and your playmakers the football, get it into
their hands quickly, let them catch and run. It's a
recipe for success that the Eagles need to follow for
(01:52:11):
the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:52:12):
All Right, Jets trailing the Patriots seventeen to sixteen inside
five minutes to go. But the Jets are on the
move right now, well into Patriots' territory. A couple of
nights passes from Aaron Rodgers, so somehow, some way, just
trying to savage a win against the New England Patriots.
We continue on exciting finishes around the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
We'll have all the latest for you. This is Red
Zone Radio.
Speaker 15 (01:52:35):
Second and goal on the two three tight ends, one
back Murray and the pistol takes the staff and hands
it off Connor running left and Conner's in for the touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:52:44):
He got hit at the tube.
Speaker 15 (01:52:45):
It bounced right off at a fender and the Cardinals
make it twenty seven to twenty four with eight forty
seven to go in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:52:54):
That's Arizona Sports ninety eight seven FM. Cardinals get the
extra point. They trail the Dolphins twenty seven to twenty five.
We are inside seven minutes to go in the fourth
quarter of that game. Once again, this is Red Zone Radio.
Steve hartviin Rich Ornberger with you. We are live from
the ti iraq dot Com studios. The Jets have taken
(01:53:15):
the lead against the Patriots, I believe they went for
two and did not get it. H so they lead
twenty two to seventeen, and I believe the Jets just
got the ball back. So Jets trying to hang on
in this game inside three minutes to go. Meanwhile, the
Buccaneers are not dead here rich they have gotten another touchdown,
(01:53:35):
so they trail the Falcons thirty one to twenty six.
Baker Mayfield's third touchdown pass of this game. And remember
his top two receivers are out of this game, so
Aton gets another touchdown and the Falcons now have the
ball with four and a half minutes to go, So
it looks like we're gonna get a few good finishes.
The one game that is over is the Eagles, yep,
(01:53:59):
blowing out the bes with a two minute warning right now,
and little soul searching for the Bengals right now, i'd
imagine after their fourth straight home loss of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:54:11):
Yeah, a little bit of what the Dallas Cowboys are
going through. It's been a house of horrors playing in
front of their home fans for both of these franchises
this season, and both of them with highly paid, talented quarterbacks,
and so it's a little bit of a head scratcher
Burrow and Cincinnati Dak Prescott in Dallas. But yeah, getting
(01:54:31):
blown out thirty four seventeen. Not only getting blown out
but also by the Eagles at this point in the season,
obviously they're dangerous and they've gotten healthier, and so they're
even more so than they were to start this season.
But it feels like a worse loss than it probably is.
If I were to guess, I think the Eagles are
going to finish the season pretty strong here based on
(01:54:54):
the momentum shift we've seen. But right now, this one
stings a little bit more because it drops your record
to three five And also, again, Philadelphia right now doesn't
look like much of a juggernaut out of the NFC.
But you wait a little bit longer, as we get
closer and closer to the Christmas holidays, I think the
Eagles are going to start becoming what they're supposed to
(01:55:16):
look like.
Speaker 1 (01:55:17):
Yeah, and by the way, in that game, Saquon Barkley
over one hundred yards one hundred and eight yards rushing,
but it's Jalen Hurts with the three rushing touchdowns. Meanwhile,
Jonathan Taylor has just scored to cut that Texans lead
over the Coles said twenty three to twenty so plenty
of time left.
Speaker 2 (01:55:35):
Eight and a half minutes ago.
Speaker 1 (01:55:35):
Jonathan Taylor over one hundred yards one hundred and five
yards rushing and that touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:55:40):
Chris, what do you got for us?
Speaker 8 (01:55:41):
You might want to know who's looking for some searching
right now? Eight minutes to seven minutes to go. Excuse me.
Jacksonville down ten points, as you know, looked like they
got off the schneid a little bit. It was the
Patriots last week, but now it's even even with Jordan
Love out. This is a team that does not look
like are getting anything much going here. Trevor Lawrence fifteen
(01:56:03):
to twenty four and a touchdown and an interception on
this day and the just I cannot believe this team
is as miserable as is. I know they have injuries
to a lot of their running backs and they're starting
Tank Bigsby, but this is not.
Speaker 2 (01:56:17):
All right good?
Speaker 1 (01:56:18):
I need I have a question why Malik willis in
the game. Jordan Love got hurt and exited the game.
Speaker 2 (01:56:24):
Do we have an update on that injury? That would
be rather big. We will effort to get that right now.
Speaker 1 (01:56:30):
The big difference for the Sackers this year, Rich, no
doubt Josh Jacobs twenty one. He carries one hundred and
seventeen yards two touchdowns. So when you have a premiere
running back, which when healthy Josh Jacobs, is a big
difference in their offense.
Speaker 2 (01:56:47):
But yeah, Malik Willis three or four pass.
Speaker 1 (01:56:49):
He has a touchdown pass twenty five yards on the ground.
So we'll try to get an update on that. Jordan
Love injury.
Speaker 8 (01:56:55):
Official Stass on the Jordan Love injury is growing with
a questionable to return.
Speaker 1 (01:57:00):
Okay, well, right now they have a ten point lead.
They're looking good. Browns have just added a field goal Rich.
They have up their lead over the Ravens twenty three
to seventeen. This is the hottest team in the league.
The Ravens on the road against the one in six
Browns and the Browns have a six point lead inside
five minutes ago.
Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
Just remarkable, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (01:57:20):
You know, for all the nice things you want to
say about the Ravens, and there's plenty of nice things
you can say about them, this division is so difficult.
Speaker 4 (01:57:30):
To win in consistently.
Speaker 3 (01:57:31):
You know you're going against a Browns team who's well coached,
with Stefanski. You're going against, you know, a potential, a
great in his own right, Joe Burrow. I mean, they're
really struggling this season, the Cincinnati Bengals in terms of
the record, but burrow Is is dangerous every single time
you face him. And then, oh, by the way, you
(01:57:53):
know the Pittsburgh Steelers who consistently provide a winning season
after winning season. So it's it's uh, it's it's a
little bit of murderer's row for the Baltimore Ravens year
after year. The Browns look, it feels like a game
they shouldn't be in. But at the same token, doesn't
it feel like an albatross has been lifted? No doubt
(01:58:15):
their next with Deshaun Watson. We'll look at the starting lineup.
Speaker 2 (01:58:18):
Look at Jameis Winston.
Speaker 1 (01:58:19):
Twenty one thirty two, two hundred and sixty yards passing,
two chatdowns, no picks. That's better than anything Deshaun Watson
has done. By the way, the Ravens just got a
twenty two yard run from their quarterback Lamar Jackson. Now
he's just running the ball himself. It's like, all right,
we're down six, we're inside four minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (01:58:37):
And I'm just gonna take the ball right now.
Speaker 1 (01:58:39):
And so Lamar Jackson with his legs right now, trying
to lead this comeback against the Browns, and that is
almost intercepted. Wow, almost intercepted by the Browns. Incomplete.
Speaker 3 (01:58:54):
Well, the problem is when time gets short and you
start to need chunk plays, right, because you run low
on time, you'll start dialing up more vertical routes.
Speaker 4 (01:59:04):
And Lamar Jackson just who they go.
Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
They call that a complete pass. I thought that was
an incomplete pass. And the Ravens are all of a
sudden in Brown's territory. And now they got the ball
inside the twenty five down the twenty four yard line,
short pass to Mark Andrews there. So that was an
incredible catch. It looked like it was almost intercepted by
the Browns. Turned out to be a reception, and the
Ravens now bought themselves in scoring position three minutes to
(01:59:30):
go in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:59:33):
Yeah, yeah, Lamar Jackson again, he's going to try to
beat you with his legs first, when you start running
off the fenders with those deep routes, so key on that.
His rushing stats are about to explode here.
Speaker 1 (01:59:43):
All right. So once again. They have a second and
one for the Ravens. Right now, We're going to keep
you update on this game and other exciting finishes around
the NFL. This is Red Zone Radio Direct Staph de Lamar.
He pitches it to Derrek Henry Henry to the left,
turns off the tackle. Touch down King Henry and the
(02:00:04):
Ravens are an extra point away from regaining the lead.
All right, that's ninety eight Rock Ravens Radio Network. They
take the lead. We got unbelievable finishes going on right now.
Red Zone Radio broadcasting live from the ti rack dot
com studios. Ti rack dot comy help get you there.
Unmatched selection, fast reshipping, free road as a protection over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the way
(02:00:26):
tire buying should be. All right, we're gonna have to
sort of prioritize right now. Let's start with the Patriots
and the Jets. Twenty five seconds left, fourth and go
for the Patriots and they are in the end zone.
Touch down Patriots with twenty five seconds to go, fourth
(02:00:46):
and go to get in on the run and the
Patriots retake the lead. That is unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (02:00:53):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (02:00:54):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (02:00:54):
The Patriots with Jakobe perseat in the game after Drake
May went out with a concussion, have come back and
taken the lead fourth and goal. They ran the ball
in and they have taken the lead with just twenty
five seconds remaining. And if the Jets do lose this game,
well we talked about it before the game. Now where
(02:01:15):
you go, well, I.
Speaker 3 (02:01:17):
Mean where you go is probably looking into the crystal
ball and seeing what the future is going to look like. Right,
because Aaron Rodgers, if he doesn't get it done this season,
what does that mean for next year at the quarterback position?
Speaker 4 (02:01:32):
Right?
Speaker 3 (02:01:33):
You know, if if you I mean you've already fired
Robert Salaz, so who's next? I mean, could we see
potentially Belichick get hired?
Speaker 4 (02:01:42):
Could we?
Speaker 3 (02:01:43):
I mean, is that when does that cording process begin?
Because you're already onto an interim, so all of a
sudden everything is going to get evaluated here because this
is I mean, this is a can't lose.
Speaker 4 (02:01:55):
I don't want to call to must win, but it
honestly was.
Speaker 3 (02:01:58):
I mean, for the Jets, if they lose this game,
they've just lost the must win game Week eight of
the NFL season, and it's it's misery, right, now for
New York.
Speaker 1 (02:02:07):
All right, they're actually reviewing the touchdown that the Patriots scored.
I thought it was pretty clear, but they are officially
reviewing that play. Meanwhile, the Cardinals, who have trailed this
entire game against the Dolphins, have a third and six
at the Miami sixteen yard line as they're getting themselves
into what would be a game winning field goal position.
(02:02:31):
So Kyler Murray in this game three hundred and seven
yards passing and a couple of scores, So they have
put themselves in a position now and to take the
lead in this game. So Cardinals trailing the Dolphins twenty
seven to twenty five, fourteen seconds left, but they are
at the Miami sixteen yard line. Meanwhile, the Browns trailing
(02:02:54):
the Ravens twenty four to twenty three min and a
half to go. They have the ball on the Baltimore
forty yard line and they have a third and seven.
And now we've had Jacksonville just score against the Packers
and they are an extra point away of tying up
this game inside two minutes ago. It's craziness around the NFL.
Speaker 4 (02:03:16):
Don't sleep, don't sleep on the Jags.
Speaker 3 (02:03:19):
That's what I'm trying to say, I know they are
a two win football team. I know it's looking pretty desperate,
but this team, they're better than their record shows. I
honestly believe that Dragon Lawrens is a better quarterback then
a lot of people would evaluate him as and and
there's a good reason why they spent the money. I'm
(02:03:40):
curious if they're able to pull this one out and
if they are tying this game twenty seven to twenty
seven now with a minute forty eight left on the clock,
if they get this victory over the Green Bay Packers,
and you start to think about what the season could
look like for JVIL. I mean, this could be a
turnaround point. This could be one of those momentum shifts.
Speaker 1 (02:03:59):
All right. The Patriots touchdown is good and they got
a two point conversion.
Speaker 4 (02:04:03):
Rich.
Speaker 2 (02:04:04):
Wow, So the Patriots lead the Jets twenty five to
twenty two.
Speaker 1 (02:04:08):
So the Jets have twenty two seconds remaining. Meanwhile, we're
down to the final second here, and the Cardinals field
goal is good. The Cardinals have defeated the Dolphins twenty
eight to twenty seven. They literally trailed this entire game
until it mattered most right at the end. Three hundred
and seven yards passing two touchdowns for Kyler Murray to
(02:04:32):
a tongue of ilo at twenty eight to thirty eight
two and thirty four yards in a score. But it
was not enough, and the Cardinals in the mix get
themselves to four and four. You were touting them earlier.
Cardinals definitely in the mix right now in the NFC West.
Speaker 3 (02:04:47):
Yeah, no question about it, not only as a wild
card contender, but also just as a flat out division winner. Potentially.
They are starting to put it all together. Kyler Murray,
he's playing like a pro bowler ground this offense. And
McBride he's really a great talent at tight end in
terms of pass catching. They targeted him eleven times. Him
(02:05:08):
and Murray hooked up for nine receptions. Marvin Harrison another
huge game, over one hundred yards one eleven through the
air plus the touchdown, caught every single pass but one
on a six reception day. It's it's looking good in
Arizona right now.
Speaker 1 (02:05:24):
All right. The Falcons have defeated Tampa Bay thirty one
to twenty six, four touchdown passes in that game for
Kirk Cousins, so Atlanta now in sole possession of first
place in the NFC South. All right, we got three
four games still, the Colts trailing the Texans twenty three
to twenty and we just had a touchdown for the
Cleveland Browns. Wow touchdown for the Cedric Tillman on the
(02:05:49):
receiving Jameis Winston. What a game he has had this
eight yard touchdown pass for the Cleveland Browns to take
the lead over the raven fifty nine seconds to go
in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 8 (02:06:03):
If you are a Ravens fan watching, you are sick
to your stomach because the very previous play, Kyle Hamilton
had a surefire interception and bobbled it and dropped it
like four different times.
Speaker 1 (02:06:16):
All right, now, I'm just keeping an eye on the
Jets right now, guys, there had to pass that was complete. Oh,
they're calling an incomplete pass. That Wilson dropped that ball.
It look like he had a reception in near midfield,
but he dropped the ball. So the Jets are are
desperate now down to their final few seconds. But the
Ravens are going for two right now to try to
(02:06:37):
increase their lead to seven, and Winston is scrambling throws
and it's incomplete. So the Browns lead twenty nine to
twenty four with a minute to go. That's where they
are right now. So the Ravens are gonna have to
get you up to avoid a huge upset on the
road to Javis. Winston has three hundred already, four yards
(02:07:01):
passing and three touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (02:07:03):
He has been pitch perfect the entire game. You know, listen,
it's it's not for a lack of talent that Jamis
Winston hasn't worked out as a starting quarterback. It's for
one thing, in particular, his undeniable pension to throw interceptions.
Speaker 1 (02:07:20):
Game over, game over with the Jets and the Patriots.
Rich The Jets completed a pass, but they had no timeouts.
The clock has run out, and the New England Patriots
six game losing streak is over. They are now tied
with the Jets, both teams at two and six. Patriots
win at twenty five twenty two.
Speaker 4 (02:07:42):
And this is what we were talking about earlier, Steve.
Speaker 3 (02:07:45):
Now you look at them, the Jets I'm talking about
they've got how many games left to play? Nine?
Speaker 4 (02:07:51):
Nine?
Speaker 3 (02:07:51):
I mean, you have to be you have to be
nearly perfect for this team to even be a consideration
for a wildcard spot.
Speaker 1 (02:07:58):
They don't look like a team that's gonna go on
a run of eight wins in their last nine game.
Speaker 5 (02:08:02):
Can I ask you guys a genuine question, Yeah, can
the Jets trade DeVante Adams?
Speaker 4 (02:08:06):
Like?
Speaker 5 (02:08:06):
Is that something they could do? Like in the NFL?
Speaker 1 (02:08:09):
Well, remember they gave up a provisional second as a third.
They could become a second, which is basically more than
a lot of people thought they were gonna get.
Speaker 8 (02:08:17):
It's gonna be like a Rashid Wallace situation where he
plays a game and then moves on.
Speaker 3 (02:08:22):
I don't think there's any rule against it. I really
honestly don't.
Speaker 5 (02:08:25):
I can just I can only imagine you can't send
him back to the Raiders, but like, yeah, you should
probably look to someone else might be in the market.
Speaker 2 (02:08:31):
Yeah, yeah, I'll.
Speaker 4 (02:08:33):
Tell you it's a mess.
Speaker 3 (02:08:34):
And look, they have another year of Aaron Rodgers, you know,
So you think about this, it may end up being
a similar situation to how the swan song for Aaron
Rodgers was in Green Bay where the Jets. If they
continue on this trend of losing, they they've already fired
their head coach. They they you know, I'm not saying
they tank intentionally the rest of the season, but they're
(02:08:56):
just bad enough and play bad enough football that they
traffa are highly touted quarterback guys.
Speaker 1 (02:09:02):
A couple things here, Packers Jaguars. Packers now first and
goal at the Jacksonville four yard line, inside a minute
to go. Jacks came all the way back to tie
this game, but now the Packers can run the clock
down for what would be a game winning field goal. Meanwhile,
we're keeping our eye on the Ravens right now and
the Browns. The Ravens trailing the Browns twenty nine to
(02:09:25):
twenty four. There's forty four seconds left and the Ravens
are at their own forty one yard line, so they're
trying to keep this drive alive.
Speaker 2 (02:09:33):
Obviously, they need a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (02:09:36):
Texans have the ball and the lead twenty three to
twenty over the Colts. Inside two minutes to go, all right,
Lamar Jackson throws a perfect sideline pass. It's complete. Clock
is running. The Ravens are down to one time out left.
There's thirty five seconds and what happened? They used their timeout.
(02:09:57):
They had to call a timeout. They did, so they
had to stop thirty five seconds to go right now,
Ravens have just used their last time out and they're
at the Cleveland thirty eight yard line with thirty five
seconds to go. It's weird because they thought the clock
should have stopped because it was a sideline play, but
the ball came down in bounds, and so the Ravens
(02:10:19):
had to use their last time out.
Speaker 3 (02:10:21):
And he's been so much of their offense today twenty
two of thirty three passing, two seventy five and two
touchdowns through the air, plus the forty six rushing yards
as well. It really does feel like the Ravens in
some ways reverted back to who they were prior to
Derrick Henry because the Browns have sold out to shut
(02:10:41):
him down. They said, we're not gonna get beat like
a lot of teams get beat by the Ravens getting
bullied on having Derrick Henry rush all over us.
Speaker 1 (02:10:48):
All right, They won over the middle with no timeouts,
which means clock is running and it's down to twenty seconds.
Spiked the ball with twenty one seconds down the twenty
four yard line. Meanwhile, the Packers are lining up for
what would be a game winning field goal twenty four
yard attempt here two seconds on the clock, so this
will be the last play of this game, and the
(02:11:09):
kick is good. So the Green Bay Packers survived the
comeback and they have beaten the Jacksonville Jaguars, who falled
to two and six on the season. Meanwhile, the Packers
in that fully loaded NFC North go to six and two,
which means, at least temporarily, they're in first place. Yep,
(02:11:31):
with the Vikings losing to the Rams. All right, so
we're keep our eye on this Ravens Browns game. This
is the game going right now? What's that?
Speaker 4 (02:11:40):
I'm sorry?
Speaker 2 (02:11:41):
Thewayants? Of course, the Lions at number one.
Speaker 1 (02:11:43):
All those teams right now are playoff teams, by the way,
currently in the NFC North, at least in the moment.
We'll see what happens with the Bears on the road
against the Commanders coming up a little bit later on.
All right, twenty one seconds remaining here, Rich and the
Ravens have the ball with no timeouts. They risked it
with a playover the middle down to the twenty four
(02:12:05):
yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:12:06):
Again, they obviously need a touchdown here.
Speaker 4 (02:12:08):
And then Cleveland took a timeout.
Speaker 2 (02:12:11):
So Cleveland took a time out to set their defense.
Speaker 4 (02:12:13):
YEP.
Speaker 1 (02:12:14):
And this has been a hell of an effort for
what many people thought was a totally dispirited Browns team.
But with Deshaun Watson out for the season, and now
they've got Lamar Jackson on the run, he's going to
throw the ball up toward the sidelines incomplete. That ran
off a lot of clocks, down to a third and
ten right now with fourteen seconds remaining. And by the way,
(02:12:39):
in this game, Dereck Henry's only carried the ball eleven
times with the Ravens. Today he had seventy three yards
and a score. But they've been throwing the ball today
and again, the big story of this game is Jameis
Winston three hundred and thirty four yards passing and three touchdowns.
I know Browns fans have fallen in love with Jameis Winston.
Speaker 4 (02:12:57):
Oh, he's been near perfect.
Speaker 3 (02:12:58):
Yeah, it's just been such an incredible game for Jamis
Winston filling in for Deshaun Watson, who was heralded when
he was signed and traded for by the Browns as
the savior for this franchise, and it's been anything.
Speaker 1 (02:13:10):
But how about this. The Browns just called another timeout.
Speaker 4 (02:13:14):
Well, you can't take them with you.
Speaker 2 (02:13:16):
Well, yeah, I know, it was like give me.
Speaker 1 (02:13:18):
Obviously, by them taking a time out, it gives the
Ravens a chance to talk about a few things offensively.
Speaker 2 (02:13:24):
So the raven the Browns.
Speaker 1 (02:13:26):
The Ravens were out of timeouts, and the Browns now
have taken back to back timeouts to hold on.
Speaker 5 (02:13:31):
I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 2 (02:13:32):
Isn't that a penalty? Well they were No, no, no they
didn't do Oh so didn't take back to back penalties?
Speaker 1 (02:13:40):
Okay, no, no, no, they didn't take They had a timeout.
Then the Ravens ran to play, and now the Browns
are and another time out.
Speaker 2 (02:13:46):
All right, so now the Ravens are lining out to
get really mad.
Speaker 1 (02:13:48):
Yeah, fourteen seconds remaining right now, third and ten for
the Ravens with no timeouts, and Lamar Jackson obviously back
to pass. He's scrambling, he's got some open field, he's
looking down the field. He's gonna throw the ball toward
the end zone and it is tipped away. Three seconds remains,
(02:14:09):
So this is gonna be the final play coming up
here for the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (02:14:13):
Good defense there by Cleveland, Yeah, apparently.
Speaker 3 (02:14:17):
Save Flowers the targeted receiver and Lamar Jackson look This
is what separates the good from the great quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (02:14:26):
Lamar very very.
Speaker 3 (02:14:27):
Good over the years, but you gotta win these clutch moments.
We see Mahomes do it plenty of times. You know
the greats like Manning and Breeze and Brady, we know
their names. That we gotta start seeing Lamar cashing in
on these opportunities.
Speaker 1 (02:14:41):
Anthony Richardson. So the Colts got the ball back down
three to the Texans inside a minute to go, and
Anthony Richardson just ran like forty yards. So they are
now with thirty six seconds left. They're up to the
thirty four yard line and Anthony Richardson try to lead
the comeback to at least get the Colts into field
goal position. It's tough though, just just a long run.
(02:15:02):
I was just talking about that long run. So now
just unfortunately he's throwing the ball and that's that's not
good news, just not accurate. All right, Let's get this
one last play in fourth and ten for the Baltimore Ravens,
their last gap set there at the Cleveland twenty four
yard line. Browns trying to pull the upset, leading by
(02:15:22):
a score of twenty nine to twenty four against a
team that in most power rankings it was number one
based on their recent play. Remember, the Ravens started the
year with two losses, rattle off five straight wins. But
here we go. Lamar Jackson won last chance for the
Ravens and he's going back.
Speaker 2 (02:15:41):
He is scrambling. The Browns are after him, They're got.
Speaker 1 (02:15:44):
The full pass rush, and he's back at his own
forty yard line. He's gonna throw it to the end
zone and it is incomplete. Game over. The Cleveland Browns
have defeated the Baltimore Ravens twenty nine to twenty four.
Anybody call that one today?
Speaker 4 (02:16:04):
No, no, you know.
Speaker 3 (02:16:06):
I was saying this week, how impressed I am with
the Baltimore Ravens, with the plan for Derrick Henry, with
the help that Lamar Jackson has received as a result
of his signing this offseason. I feel like the Baltimore
Ravens are finally they finally have a running back that
can match the talents of mark of Lamar Jackson in
(02:16:27):
the backfield, and a team has now cracked the code.
Speaker 4 (02:16:32):
I mean, just an.
Speaker 3 (02:16:33):
Unreal day for the Cleveland Browns. Defensively, first and foremost,
holding the Ravens to twenty four points. That's a feat
in and of itself, especially with the way they've rolled
against a lot of teams. And then what Jamis Winston
has been able to do in his first start of
the season, throwing for over three hundred yards and no interceptions.
Most importantly, he's careless with the football, and that's the
(02:16:56):
big knock against Jamis not today three touchdown passes.
Speaker 4 (02:17:00):
He played hero for the Browns.
Speaker 1 (02:17:01):
All right, So last game that is still alive, barely
colts down by three right now, Anthony Richardson on a
fourth and ten with thirteen seconds left, throws a little
pass over the middle and that will get a first down,
but the clock is going to run out three to
one and it is over. Did they get it off
(02:17:24):
in time? Did they spike it in time to at
least get a hail Mary? By the way, in this game,
Anthony Richardson is ten of thirty one passing. Yeah, I
mean you can't have that. Yeah, I mean again, you know,
I mean you got Joe Flacco's sitting on the bench,
right and so they're staying with Anthony Richardson, But you
(02:17:45):
can't have a quarterback who's ten out of thirty one
passing and they are saying that the game no one
second left on the clock. Yeah, so they're gonna give
him one second, which means they will have a Hail Mary.
All right, all right, Well, earlier today the Lions with
(02:18:05):
a big win over the to say the least, a
huge win today over the Tennessee Titans by a score
of fifty to two to fourteen, and Carlton Davis is
joinning us right now.
Speaker 2 (02:18:17):
Carlton, this was not your normal Lions win.
Speaker 1 (02:18:20):
You guys have been putting up a lot of points,
but I'm looking at special teams. I'm looking at the
return game a different way to get those fifty two
points today.
Speaker 16 (02:18:29):
Yeah, it was a complete team win or our NBO.
It's what Dad always talks about, is just complimenting each other,
you know, on special teams, defense, offense, and today's sles.
The teams really took the ball and put up those
points and put off great shial coosition and you know
it was a great It was a great out of
for them.
Speaker 3 (02:18:48):
You know, great defense makes a great offense and vice versa.
You practice against Jared Goff and all the weapons. Montgomery
gives Laporta, Raymond all the aman Rossaint Brown that practice
every day. How much better does that make you as
a defense?
Speaker 4 (02:19:04):
Oh?
Speaker 16 (02:19:04):
It makes us a lot better man. You know, like
I said, Irons Harper Iron. So you know, whenever we
go up to the Still Boys, we're pushing each other.
And it's not even just you know camp things in season.
You know, we're always looking to get better throughout the
season and continue to push ourselves. So I definitely think
that gives us an edge on Sundays.
Speaker 1 (02:19:23):
Carlton. You know, with the injury to Aiden Hutchinson, a
lot of questions there have been a lot of injuries
on your defense in front, maybe putting a little more
pressure on the defense. But does an injury like that
when people are saying, wow, what a tough break.
Speaker 2 (02:19:36):
You know, obviously you lose a great player, but does.
Speaker 1 (02:19:39):
That sort of galvanize the rest of the defense to
take it to the next level?
Speaker 4 (02:19:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (02:19:43):
Man, Like I said, like you said, you know, we
can't replace Aida Hutchinson man in no way, shape or form.
We can only be motivated by him, not his absence,
to him not being there. So he's definitely, like you know,
pressure for us to step up and kind of center
his role and whatever we can they do, because, like
I said, we can't replace him, but we can't play
for him, and we can't be motivated by his loss,
(02:20:05):
and he continued to play for whom.
Speaker 3 (02:20:08):
It wasn't automatically apparent to everybody on the outside looking
in that Dan Campbell was going to be exactly what
Detroit needed. But he really has become just that. He's
an incredible motivator, leader, a great head coach. He's assembled
a terrific staff in Detroit for for people who are
(02:20:28):
on the outside looking in and trying to get an
idea of what it's like being inside the locker room
with Dan Campbell, What is it like? What What is
Campbell like as a head coach?
Speaker 16 (02:20:39):
Is exactly what you said, man, what you see, what
you get, what you see on TV. That's exactly who
he is. He's very consistent in who he is. He
never changes for anybody or anything. I think that's the
thing I love about him the most is how consistent
he is and who he is. And uh, you know,
like the emotions and just the motivating and the great
it's all there is there every day and uh, you know,
(02:21:01):
you can't you can't not see it.
Speaker 1 (02:21:03):
So I was going to say one final question, Carlton.
You're a Super Bowl champion from your days in Tampa.
First year Detroit. Does this team have what it takes
to win a Super Bowl this year?
Speaker 4 (02:21:16):
Oh?
Speaker 16 (02:21:16):
For sure, for sure. I'm very confident. Like you said,
I've been a part of Super Bowl teams. I've been
a part of teams that has wait deep into the playoffs,
so I know exactly what it takes and what it
looks like. And this team has it and more. I
really feel that if we can keep your seat together,
that we'll be able to make a multiply runs at
a championship ring. So that's that's the big goal here.
Speaker 4 (02:21:38):
Well, Carlton, thank you for the time.
Speaker 6 (02:21:40):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:21:41):
Enjoy the win, it was a huge one, and keep
it going. I agree with everything you just said. This
team looks like the best team.
Speaker 4 (02:21:50):
In the NFC right now. Thanks again for your time, buddy,
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:21:54):
All right, So that's Lion's Corner, Carlton Davis who Ken
came to them this year. Just one more piece on
that defense. Boy, what a turnaround for that Lion's defense. Oh,
just a couple of years ago they were flat out
the worst defense in the NFL no longer the case.
Speaker 2 (02:22:08):
All right, we have to take a time out, but
we'll be returning with more.
Speaker 1 (02:22:11):
By the way, the Colts comeback did not happen. So
the Colts go down in their game. This is Red
Zone Radio. It's twenty two seventeen New York. Smith is
in the backfield line up as a fullback. Stevenson the
tailback Henry motions left the right perstet Hanson for moderate.
Speaker 4 (02:22:28):
He runs in into the right side.
Speaker 13 (02:22:30):
He pauses way in to the episode, had the lead
touchdown Patriots. It runs disbelief. The Jets have choked another
game away. You are down timing to New York Jets
record wise, it's ninety eighty five. That's Farte the Patriots
Radio network. Wow, reality has set in.
Speaker 1 (02:22:52):
I told you, I told you that Jets we sucked
this year. I was the only one that did that.
Everyone else. Oh Jets are gotta beggest Oh great, yeah,
how they look at now? How they they're tied with
the Patriots. The Patriots are mocking you right now. By
the way, once again, we're live from the tire rack
dot Com studios. All right, we got to get back
on our clock right now. Let's find out what is trending.
(02:23:15):
As we have eight games in the books and now
five more games have started around the NFL.
Speaker 9 (02:23:20):
Mon Sie, you know, in.
Speaker 10 (02:23:21):
Our defense, those of us who thought the Jets were
gonna be better than this, mister Hartman, Yes, it was
just I thought that I thought Aaron Rodgers was going
to be better than Zach Wilson.
Speaker 9 (02:23:33):
I I just thought that. I just thought that that's
all it was.
Speaker 1 (02:23:37):
Well, I mean, let's talk about that Jets defense overhyped.
Speaker 9 (02:23:40):
Yeah, but last year they held on to a lot.
They won the games because of defense, you know what
I mean. So that that's where I think all of
us thought. We didn't think it was gonna be like this.
Speaker 10 (02:23:49):
Have the Jets won any game since firing Robert Sola?
Speaker 1 (02:23:52):
I know, But I'll tell you what. Kerrie Rhodes, who
was in for you yesterday, he was asked by Adam
Kaplan what's going on with the Jets and his answer was,
they're not having any fun. Ah, I want to this
is from a former Jet. Yeah, Kerry Rose, he goes,
they're not having any fun. I guarantee you they have
really not having fun today.
Speaker 10 (02:24:12):
Did Carrie Rhodes point to why they're not having fun.
Speaker 1 (02:24:15):
No, he just said they're not having fun.
Speaker 9 (02:24:17):
Okay, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:24:19):
If you can't have fun, it's hard to be good.
Speaker 9 (02:24:21):
Of course. No, I get that one hundred percent.
Speaker 10 (02:24:23):
The Chiefs are having a lot of fun this year,
and I think they still are.
Speaker 9 (02:24:27):
They just scored.
Speaker 10 (02:24:28):
They are beating the Raiders in Las Vegas seven zero,
Kareem Hunt with a rushing touchdown to put them on
the scoreboard first. They just got going in the first quarter. Panthers,
Broncos just got going their scoreless Bears and Commanders Jayden
Daniels in the game. Commanders have the ball at Chicago's
seven yard line. It's second and one, ten minutes to go.
But you're seeing the number one and the number two
(02:24:49):
pick going at it.
Speaker 9 (02:24:50):
The Bills on the.
Speaker 10 (02:24:50):
Scoreboard first against the Seahawks, Josh Allen connecting with Keon Coleman.
They're beating the Seahawks in Seattle seven zero late in
the first and the Chargers are losing at home to
the Saints because of a safety. So it's two zero,
five minutes to go in the first quarter. The games
that have wrapped up the Lions, they absolutely crushed the
Titans fifty two to fourteen.
Speaker 9 (02:25:10):
Jared Goff was.
Speaker 10 (02:25:11):
Simple minimal twelve to fifteen, eighty five yards and three touchdowns. Well,
David Montgomery had a rushing touchdown and a touchdown pass
to Aman Ross Saint Brown.
Speaker 9 (02:25:20):
The Browns defeated the Ravens and a thriller that.
Speaker 10 (02:25:22):
Went down to the wire twenty nine to twenty four
was the final score. This is the first time that
Cleveland has scored twenty points in.
Speaker 9 (02:25:28):
A game this season.
Speaker 10 (02:25:30):
Yes, Jameis Winston twenty seven to forty one, three hundred
and thirty four yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Speaker 9 (02:25:36):
Derrick Henry only eleven.
Speaker 10 (02:25:37):
Carries you guys were talking about at seventy three yards
and one touchdown in the loss. The Eagles defeated the
Bengals thirty seven to seventeen. Again, the Eagles have not
scored any points in the first quarter this season.
Speaker 9 (02:25:46):
The Bengals have not won at home.
Speaker 10 (02:25:48):
Jalen Hurts two hundred and thirty six yards, one touchdown
and three rushing touchdowns in the win. So those Saquon
Barkley fantasy managers are probably real mad.
Speaker 9 (02:25:56):
Cardinals walked it off with a thirty four yard field goal.
Speaker 10 (02:25:59):
By Chad Ryland to the Dolphins twenty eight to twenty seven.
Speaker 9 (02:26:02):
Kyler Murray through for two hundred and seven yards and
two touchdowns.
Speaker 10 (02:26:05):
Ta tokovay looa his first game back, twenty eight of
thirty eight hundred and thirty four yards and one touchdown
in the loss.
Speaker 9 (02:26:10):
The Patriots.
Speaker 10 (02:26:11):
Yes, they came back to beat the Jets twenty five
to twenty two was the final score. And you know,
New England lost their starting quarterback Drake May early in
the game to a concussion, so Jacoby Brissette had to
come in and save the day, and he literally did.
The Falcons held on to defeat the Buccaneers thirty one
to twenty six. Kyle Pittsford catches ninety one yards and
two touchdowns for Atlanta. The Packers they survived. They beat
(02:26:32):
the Jaguars thirty to twenty seven. Packers did lose Jordan
Love laid in the game with a groin injury. Josh
Jacobs in the victory, had twenty five carries, one hundred
and twenty seven yards and two touchdowns. And the Texans
they survived against the Colts twenty three to twenty.
Speaker 9 (02:26:45):
They did lose.
Speaker 10 (02:26:46):
The Texans Stefan Diggs after suffering a non contact leg injury.
Speaker 9 (02:26:50):
There's no more details on that. CJ.
Speaker 10 (02:26:53):
Stroud threw FO two hundred and eighty five yards and
a one touchdown in the WNBA.
Speaker 9 (02:26:57):
The Indiana Fever parted ways with head coach Christy said
and in baseball, yes.
Speaker 10 (02:27:01):
Expect show Heyo Tani to play in Game three tomorrow
of the World Series.
Speaker 1 (02:27:08):
All right, it's very good Manzi, very busy day in
the NFL. By the way, Red Zone Radio here and
right after our show, our podcast is going up. So
if you miss any of today's show, check out the podcast.
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts,
and follow, rate and review the podcast.
Speaker 2 (02:27:23):
Again, just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (02:27:26):
You'll see the show posted right after we get off
the air. By the way, the Panthers have Bryce Young
back a quarterback this week in this road game against
the Broncos, and they have driven all the way down
to the Denver six yard line. Bryce Young starting this
game four for four, So you got Bryce Young going
(02:27:47):
up against bow Nicks. But at least on this opening
drive for the Panthers, it looks like the rest has
cleared Bryce Young's head and he just threw a touchdown
pass the LL get So there you go, touchdown pass
or Bryce Young on their opening drive and the Panthers
take the early six to nothing lead.
Speaker 3 (02:28:05):
Well, you gotta look at the whole issue with the
Carolina Panthers, not just not just one symptom.
Speaker 4 (02:28:14):
This is a poorly constructed roster.
Speaker 3 (02:28:16):
All the same things you said about this roster prior
to Andy Dalton taking over, you gotta say about this
roster now that Bryce Young's back in.
Speaker 4 (02:28:24):
It looked like it was going better. But it was
a little bit of a.
Speaker 3 (02:28:27):
Change of pace for the Carolina Panthers and their opponent
that first week at Dalton. Now with Bryce youngback, I mean,
it's a little bit of the same thing. I'm not
expecting this to be some great turnaround or for the
Carolina Panthers to all of a sudden figure it out.
I think it is what it is, and the situation's
a little bit desperate there. I think this is gonna
be a long, hard season for Bryce Young and for Carolina.
Speaker 1 (02:28:49):
All Right, the Commanders have gotten themselves in a scoring position.
Jaden Daniels is a quarterback for the Commanders. In this game,
they got a third and two right now on the
Bears eight yard line. Bears did nothing on their opening
drive courses the battle of the top two picks in
the draft this year to Heisman Trophy winners Kayleb Williams
and Jaden Daniels. And you know, with the Eagles winning
(02:29:12):
today and getting their record to five and two, the
Commanders need a win to maintain their lead in the
NFC East. By the way, with the Ravens losing today,
you know, we talk about how great the Ravens have been,
and believe me, they've been dynamite. The Steelers, if they
can win at home tomorrow against the Giants, would have
(02:29:32):
a one game lead in the NAFC North. So the
Steelers with Mike Tomlin, you know, get the bus ready,
the guys going into the Hall of Fame, and the
guys just unbelievable. How seriously, what coach gets more out
of less than Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 3 (02:29:49):
It's impossible what he's done, It's impossible. It doesn't make
any sense none. I mean, look, you can make an
argument for a lot of great coaches around the league
that we've seen either recently or currently. Andy Reid, Bill Belichick.
Obviously they're great coaches. But can Bill Belichick coach the
way that Mike Tomlin coached with the type of quarterbacks
(02:30:12):
he's had since Ben Roethlisberger no retired. I don't, I
mean Andy Reid, I mean Alex Smith was the first
round talent, Patrick Mahomes, first round talent, Donovan McNabb. Like
he's been spoiled with great quarterbacks. And I'm not saying
these are bad coaches. I'm not, but we're talking.
Speaker 2 (02:30:31):
About he's done more with less.
Speaker 3 (02:30:33):
Yeah, Mike Tomlin is He's like no other coach we've
ever witnessed in the NFL. And I'm not sure if
we'll ever see this replicated again.
Speaker 2 (02:30:41):
He's still in his early fifties.
Speaker 4 (02:30:43):
I know you could do this for another twenty years.
Speaker 1 (02:30:46):
I mean seriously. And to think that the Steelers have
had three head coaches since nineteen sixty nine, singing that
since man first walked on the moon, Steelers have had
three head coaches and that is it, and that stability
(02:31:06):
is why the Steelers. You know, but the knock is,
but he has won a playoff game about seven or
eight years.
Speaker 2 (02:31:12):
You know, Okay, it's great, They're they're winning.
Speaker 1 (02:31:14):
They have a winning record, and they get in the playoffs,
but you got to win some games in the playoffs.
So we'll see how this plays out for the Steelers.
They'll be in an action tomorrow. Bill Seahawks. Seahawks trying
to come back from an early seven to nothing deficit.
By the way, I've been watching this Saints Chargers game.
The Saints got a safety on a muff punt by
the Chargers that went out of the end zone. But
(02:31:36):
I'm watching the Saints today's rattler in a quarterback and
they seem pretty inspired.
Speaker 2 (02:31:42):
We've seen a few teams today already that seem to
be down in the dumps. I mean, Jacksonville lost, but
they played an inspired game.
Speaker 1 (02:31:50):
Obviously. The Browns huge upset today against the Ravens. So
you know, we're seeing teams at this point of the
year that you think ah season over and they've come
out inspire. Here's a Saints team that goes into this
road game against the Chargers on a five game losing streak,
and at least early on eyeball tells me they're engaged
(02:32:11):
in this game.
Speaker 3 (02:32:11):
Yeah, it's a little bit of that not so fast situation.
Happening with some of these teams, because if you look
at the bottom of the wildcard portion of the bracket,
there's a lot of parody and there's a lot of opportunity.
So even though you've only won two games or three
games to this point in the season, this season is
far from over for you if you're just willing to work.
Speaker 4 (02:32:35):
And so I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (02:32:36):
We've seen some really tremendous performances out of teams that
feel like they're a little bit left for dead. Now
we're going to start to see a great division here
the top of the conferences. They're going to take off
and they're going to create a little breathing room against
the wildcard and the wildcards are going to create a
little breathing room against the basement dwellers in these respective conferences.
(02:32:59):
But this is movement week, you know, this midpoint of
the season. We're gonna see it this week, we're gonna
see it next week. A lot of a lot of
teams playing for their lives.
Speaker 4 (02:33:08):
All right.
Speaker 1 (02:33:09):
We got five games going on right now on the
other style. We'll keep you updated on those games, and
we'll get you ready for tonight's battle between the Cowboys
and the forty nine ers. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 17 (02:33:20):
Twenty four yard nine shutgun, Brown's up. Twenty nine twenty four.
Lamar Jackson has the football grounds rushing for Lamar flush out,
Lamar Chase pisonarios, Lamar Jackson are points scenarios. He's got
to throw it, directing traffic punck fak now throwing end
zone got quarter.
Speaker 1 (02:33:38):
New garded Cooky.
Speaker 4 (02:33:42):
The road when.
Speaker 1 (02:33:46):
Twenty nine, twenty four. That's the Browns Radio network, and
it was the upset of the day as the one
in six Browns defeat the hottest team in the NFL,
the Baltimore Ravens, twenty nine to twenty four. Once again,
this is Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartman and Rich Ornberger
with you were live from the TAIRAQ dot com students.
(02:34:08):
Now remember Red Zone Radio continues on Dan bar Kerry
Rhodes will take over with the five games we have
going on right now. Plus, of course, our supporting cast
is simply the best in the business. Montcy Belango's fresh
off for a big night at Dodgers Stadium last night.
Speaker 2 (02:34:25):
That's right, I'm right back.
Speaker 1 (02:34:26):
With a vengeance today.
Speaker 9 (02:34:28):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (02:34:29):
Chris obviously celebrating his Lions, who with the Ravens losing today,
I think, and this is with all due respect to
the undefeated Chiefs, the Lions are the best team right
now in the NFL. Does that make you nervous, Chris?
But the whole world is jumping on the Lions bandwagon. No, no,
I want to make plenty of room. I love to
share this moment with people, with someone who covers the
(02:34:50):
team and is a fan of the team. I want
to share this moment with as many people as I
can't except for Packers fans.
Speaker 2 (02:34:55):
You guys, you guys know what you did well Again.
Speaker 1 (02:34:57):
There's also a guy who said he is back on
the bandwagon of his all time favorite team, the Eagles,
who had by far their most impressive win of the year,
doubling up on the Bengals in Cincinnati. You are sporting
a Rams cap. By the way, have the Rams lost
since you started?
Speaker 2 (02:35:17):
He has like fifty teams caps. He has so many,
He's gonna have a Lions cap on Monday.
Speaker 5 (02:35:21):
He's sill possible. It's possible.
Speaker 1 (02:35:23):
By the way. The Chargers just hit a three run
home run to take a three to two lead over
the Saints.
Speaker 2 (02:35:29):
That's a baseball score. That's that three two.
Speaker 1 (02:35:31):
I mean that's toorrow night. I'm sorry, it's a baseball
Scot's right there. That's all right, okay, I want to
talk about this game tonight rich the Cowboys and the
forty nine Ers. I don't think anyone would have looked
at this game preseason and say we see a three
and three Cowboys team with three losses at home on
(02:35:51):
the road against a forty nine Er team that has
an even worse record at three and four, tail of
two quarterbacks, tail of a lot of injuries on both
of these teams, and you're looking at this game like, Wow,
you'd hate to be the loser of this game. As
we approach the halfway point, what do you make of
(02:36:13):
Cowboys at the forty nine Ers?
Speaker 3 (02:36:15):
Well, this should have been a way better matchup, and
you almost feel bad in some ways. If you love football,
you want to see young quarterbacks have success because you
want to see the greats be replaced by more greats.
Speaker 4 (02:36:28):
And we're seeing that in some cases.
Speaker 3 (02:36:30):
You know, we're seeing brilliance from Patrick Mahomes. We're seeing
and I know he's not young anymore, but we're seeing
brilliance from Jordan love. We're seeing opportunities for CJ. Stroud
to continue to improve after a tremendous rookie season. Brock
Purdy has done so much in his time as a
starting quarterback in this league, and he was the last
pick of the NFL Draft when the San Francisco forty
(02:36:53):
nine ers selected him. But it does feel like something's
amiss this season. It just doesn't look the same. And
I don't know if it's because there's more of a
reliance on him to get the job done because there
have been so many injuries and it's been a little
bit of a patchwork quilt. He didn't have his favorite target,
Brandon Ayuk to throw to this offseason, and then he
(02:37:14):
gets hurt as they're trying to get on the same page. Look,
that's the business part of this league. You're not gonna
have it perfect all the time, you know, and guys
are gonna be shuffled in and out of the depth
chart because of injury or situations or circumstances you can't control.
Speaker 4 (02:37:32):
And you have to be the rock.
Speaker 3 (02:37:33):
You need to be a consistent performer, and Brock Purdy
this season has been anything but. And then you look
at the Dallas Cowboys, and it feels like similar issues
Dak Prescott. I mean in past years, especially in the
regular season, he's been mister consistency, and this offense has
looked terrible at home at times, and a lot of
(02:37:55):
their issues have been around the quarterback not being on
the same page with some of his receivers.
Speaker 1 (02:38:01):
We're talking about teams coming out inspired. The Raiders maybe
an inspired team right now. They are even with the
Chiefs seven to seven. De hop of course joining the
Chiefs is they try to get some wide receivers into
the mix. But the Raiders just had a sack of
Patrick Mahomes to stop them, and the Chiefs are gonna
punt the ball back to the Raiders. You just get
(02:38:25):
a sense with the Chiefs. Their defense obviously has been outstanding.
I mean Kareem Hunt, I mean where this come from, right?
I mean Kareem Hunt back from the dead, and all
of a sudden, he's been productive with that running game.
We've mentioned Mahomes six touchdowns, eight interceptions this year, hardly
Mahomes type numbers, but the only thing that matters at
six and oh, but you got a feeling at some
(02:38:48):
point they're gonna stumble and you know, the Raiders looking
pretty inspired today coming in at two and five. But
this could be the day when we see yet an
other upset of all Home dog, yep, home dog.
Speaker 3 (02:39:06):
Can you imagine if the Raiders pull this off, they
trade away Devonte Adams. Things are not going well for
Devonte in New York. Two straight losses, one in prime time,
one just today against the Patriots earlier on. If you're
just joining us, I mean, if the Raiders somehow get
on a hot streak here after all that has been
(02:39:27):
said about the Raiders, if they started with a win
against the Chiefs, my.
Speaker 4 (02:39:31):
Goodness, yeah, I mean, NFL go home, you're drunk. I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:39:36):
By the way, Gardner Minshew five for five fifty three
yards and a touchdown pass to start this game.
Speaker 4 (02:39:41):
Not bad.
Speaker 1 (02:39:42):
I'm just saying right now, he's out playing that guy
Mahomes on the other side. All right, Dan and Carrie
will take you the rest of the way. Keep it
right here. This is Red Zone Radio.
