Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. As you just heard,
the Yukons women's basketball team is absolutely annihilating a powerhouse
in a championship game. And it raises this moment because
one of the best stars in the sport, Paige Beckers,
is about to win her first title, which means people
will see her differently. Suddenly she is a champion, and

(00:22):
that matters to the legacy conversation that we love to have.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
But on a weekend where.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
We've seen Paige get this much due respect that she's
about to get, and we've also seen one of the
biggest stars in the sport, Cooper Flag, fall short, the
question is how much should legacies even matter? How much
should championships even matter to legacy conversations, And the answer
is they shouldn't. It's bucket Fits hanging out on a
Fox Sports Saturday. He's Buck Rising. I'm Jason Fitz. We're

(00:49):
broadcasting live from the ti Raq dot com studios. Tyrack
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping. Who doesn't love that free road has
a protection over ten thousand recommended installers dot com. The
way tire buying should be. Buck Rising the way championship
conversations should be. This is what drives me crazy because,
as you know, I spend most of my life in Connecticut,

(01:10):
so I'm around the Yukon women's basketball team all the time,
and there's this conversation about Page Beckers, and even some
of the legends that have played for Yukon will say, well,
if you don't win a championship, you can't be considered
one of the greats.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I was sitting in the Alamodome last night and I.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Watched one of the greats of the sport, Cooper Flag,
have an opportunity to win a game, and he did
not get it done.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
And it just cemented to me more and more that
it is stupid in my mind that we take a
team accomplishment known as a championship and suddenly decide that's
the way we're going to judge the value of the
careers of individual athletes.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I can't. This is not track and field. It's not
figure skating where it's you against yourself. This is team sports.
And last time I checked, whether we're talking about fifty
three players on an active NFL roster or we're talking
about the players on an NBA roster.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
College basketball roster.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
One of the dumbest things we do, in my opinion,
in sports right now is we turn everything into how
many championships have you won as to pure way to
look at somebody's greatness.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
It makes no sense.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
I would agree with that.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
I would also say that you're trying to start a
fight out of the gate and tell people how to
basically judge greatness and remove championships from the conversation. So
you know what you're doing. You know what you're doing
on a Sunday, people are trying to have a peaceful,
calm Sunday afternoon taking a little women's college basketball because
now you know, Yukon basically been on cruise control for
the entirety of the second half. But from my perspective,

(02:36):
Fitzie and I get that side of the argument. But
the championships have they carry such a greater degree of
weight when you talk about the greatness of an individual athlete,
And first and foremost, anybody who would argue that Paige
Becker's is not an all time great just because she
does not yet have a championship, she soon will have

(02:57):
a championship. As Yukon continues to pull away eighty to
forty eight right now, with just under four minutes to
play in the fourth quarter. Plenty of time, you know what,
But you gotta if you're thinking like an athlete, they

(03:18):
gotta think that way. Like they Athletes are insane to
me for a variety of different reasons. But they will
try and manifest themselves out of the most outrageous one
sided situations that you have ever seen.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
It's a necessary part of their job.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Though I don't I don't think that South Carolina quite
has that in them tonight.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Look, this is simple.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
If we're being honest, most people that cover the NBA
and college basketball don't watch every night of the NBA
and college basketball. I'm just being honest myself included, Like, look,
if we're gonna talk about basketball, I focus on basketball,
and I know that the problem is it becomes the
easy barbershop conversation to say, well, how many championships does
this guy? How many championships does this guy have? That's
what we do with everybody. I'm never going to live

(04:01):
in a society where I decide that Trent Dilfer is
a better quarterback than Dan Marino and this is the
NFL equivalent to that. Like Trent Dilfer has a Super
Bowl ring. Dan Marino does not. Okay, so let's just
stop the madness on how much Super Bowls should mean
to the way we value quarterbacks When we talk about
Cooper Flag. Last night, he joined a list of likely
potentially one and done. We'll see what Cooper decides to do.

(04:23):
Players that Oh, we know what he's going to do.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Stop, don't even entertain that.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
No, you know, don't be ridiculous here.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
We've had this discussion you and I on Fox Sports
Saturday before. The only the only reason the Cooper Flag
would have to come back to college is if he
really enjoys the college experience that much, And if he
does enjoy it that much to the point where he's
potentially sacrificing millions tens of millions of dollars, then somebody

(04:51):
needs to have a talk with that kid.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
I don't know. Here's what I would say. I was
sitting in the Alamodome right behind the student section of Duke.
I can see some of the reasons he might want
to come back to school for a year. So you know,
I'm just saying. And then the other part of it
is my analyst with Yahu's Sports pointed out to me today,
Marcus Morris was saying, hey, look, the draft's not going
to change an yere. He's still going to be the
number one overall pick in the year. Maybe he doesn't
want to go play for a washing team team where

(05:13):
he becomes irrelevant and invisible, because one person can't change
the entire path of a franchise.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I am, but it's not like the Celtics are going
to be picking, you know, top of.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
The draft next year.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
If he waits, he's still going to go to a
Washington type of team.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
That's fair, But either way, so acknowledging. I think this
is where we have to live in a society, in
a world, as I love to say, where we can
make that's my movie voice, by the way, it's my
pure sex, where we can make two things true at
the same time.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
All right, two things can be true.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
It can be true that Cooper Flag committed an over
the back penalty that was gotta get called every time,
but man, the ultimately cost them the game. It ultimately
cost them the game, and then had the opportunity for
the game winner for the third time this season, in
a close game, Cooper Flagg had the opportunity for the
game winner and did not convert said game winner. It

(06:05):
is it is okay to say, hey, he didn't make
a one shining moment there. It's also okay to turn
around and say that changes nothing about the history that
he put on tape over the course of the season,
like the records he set this year because of his greatness.
For somebody that in case nobody knows this, you know,
he bypassed his senior year right, like he should be
a senior in high school, and the entire out to me,

(06:27):
what hit me is instead of judging him by the
shot he didn't make, maybe we judge him by his
body of the work. And the best way you judge
him by his body of work is the fact that
every single person in the Alamodome when that shot went
left his hands, thought he was going to win the game,
Like we just presume he's gotten so good so fast,
he's going to win the game, like I'm I'm watching.
Look can't Page Becker's tonight today in winning a championship

(06:49):
for Yukon. Page has had a really nice game, But
so Sarah Strong, so's asy fudd, so's the rest of
their time, Like this hasn't been Paige's moment, but I'm
still happy that Yukon is just absolutely throttling Southlina. Not
because I care about the result, but because it eliminates
a stupid conversation. You're right, maybe I'm picking a fight,
or maybe I'm just walking into a room full of
people that I know we're going to tell me that

(07:10):
three plus three equals four, and I'm getting ahead of it,
Like I just these are the opportunities to realize our
stupidity and the way we cover some things.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
That's all I'm trying to do.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Nothing warms people to you more than you telling them
that the way that they've talked about things the vast
majority of their sports talk life is stupid and beneath you.
But I understand what you're trying to get at because
it provides you an opportunity to really expand the conversation.
And FITZI, there's nothing that sports dialogue needs more than

(07:40):
nuance on a regular basis. It's just not the most
fun version of the conversation to have, and you end
up being, well, how many rings does that person have
versus how many rings? Does the person that you have
that you're presenting to the opposite effect of the argument,
Like there's just so many different ways that people will
boil it down to the lowest common denominator. Because it
did feel like we were along for the ride of

(08:02):
Cooper Flag's coronation. Did we not Duke the kind of
program that they are? John Shire carrying the mantle from
Coach k This felt like, for some reason, and you'll
tell me if I'm wrong about this, Duke felt like
somebody that you might be okay with rooting for, even
though the vast majority of the country will make a
face like they smelled something bad when I say that.

(08:23):
But still, I heard j BILLI speaking at some point
this week and the lead up to the game. I
want to say it was Ryan Rosillo's podcast. I can't
remember exactly, but he said, you know how hard me
and so many other Duke players worked to make sure
that we were unlikable as a program and that Cooper Flag.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Is out here ruining it.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Like all the narrative vibes that people love to cling
to were there for Cooper Flag, and ultimately he comes
up short. To your point, the level of expectation on
this kid is crazy. But that's why the whole one
shining moment thing exists to separate people from the rest
of the pack, to not just say, oh yeah, but

(09:02):
he's just so young. No, you are in that moment.
The difference in how we view your legacy for the
rest of your life. People have their entire lives change
because of this tournament. Tournament and Cooper flag missed his
opportunity to go down as an all time great in
college basketball. Not to discount anything that he's done in

(09:22):
the lead up, but to just differentiate him.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
You say not to discount, but you're discounting like you're like,
if there's.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
A performance discounted, it fits. He's not me.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
He did. I mean so so the fact that he
the last look Duke is a team collapsed. They had
two field goal attempts field goal attempts total in the
last six minutes. It fell to me in the Dome
like they took a little bit of their foot off
the gas and Houston amptip a level of pressure. They
weren't ready for. All of these things happened. I just
don't know how I'm going to take even if we

(09:53):
want to take the last forty five seconds of that.
I'm not going to use forty five seconds of Cooper
Flag not being Kobe Bryant only find a reason to
flaw Cooper Flag's entire season.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
I think we can look out and say Cooper Flagg.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Was absolutely stinking, astounding and put up a historic here
that we should remember forever, and that should be the end.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
There shouldn't be a yeah but at the end of it.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Yeah, but he's not playing for a championship. That's just
that's what it is. I don't have to discount his
entire his entire season the lead up to say, yeah,
he fell short in the biggest moment of his season.
He came up individually short, even though his team. In
a sport where an individual's performance can impact the outcome

(10:36):
for the team more than any other. This is not
the NFL with fifty three different pieces and parts on
the roster. This is as close to an individual sport
as you can have in team sports when it comes
to the two basketball itself. So I get the point
that you're trying to make. It doesn't like Cooper Flag
is not diminished to me in any sense today other

(10:57):
than I'm not going to think of him as a
player who played for national championship and route to being
one of the greatest college basketball players of all time
because he won't be because he wasn't there to be.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Call him the chaos with the shipping software that delivers
use sports for a free trial at shipstation dot Com.
That's risky to get me to say that. That's shipstation
dot Com code sports spo r TS. Look, I don't
think any less of Cooper because he didn't win a championship,
and I don't think anything more of Page because she did.
And if you're just tuning in, Yukon is absolutely throttled.

(11:30):
It's over. Yukon is your women's national champion eighty two
to fifty nine. They absolutely destroyed South South Carolina. It
doesn't change anything about how I feel about Pagebackers and
her legacy, and it also doesn't change a dangerous narrative
in women's college basketball. We'll tell you about it. Plus,
I'm in San Antonio, so I gotta give you the
lowdown on what to expect for tomorrow. He's buck rising

(11:51):
out Jason Fitzwerth getting started. It's bucking fits on a
Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
then catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot
com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
We're not hanging out at a Sticks concert, but we
are hanging out with you on Fox Sports Sunday. He's
Jason Fitz, I'm Buck Rising, and he said something right
before we went to commercial break that really made my
blood boil.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
And he thought he was going to get away with it.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
He thought he was going to scurry into the darkness
that is the commercial ether without having this argument. As
Yukon wins the national championship in women's college basketball, page
Beckers gets her first for the storied program at the
expense of South Carolina. No repeat for Dawn Staley and
the game Cocks this year. Okay, so have I set

(12:45):
you up properly because you just casually whispered into my
ear as we went to break championships don't matter, and
then ran away through the grenade and then ran away
state your case before I reached through this iPad and
probably strangle you on air.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Look, I just think that we need to understand that
what you pay for when you pay for a ticket
to a game or when you sit down and watch
a game, which you're paying for is entertainment. Now, you
get entertainment from wins, right, and so you want more
wins than losses. So realistically, what do you want from
your favorite team? Of course you want championships. But if
you view championships as a fan or as an analyst
as the absolute only thing that ever matters, and you

(13:26):
take it into this vacuum, if you do that, it
changes so much of the way you skew everything else. No,
the reason we do this isn't for championships. It's for
proximity to championships. You want to make sure that your
team is always within the threat of being able to
become a champion. That's the joy that you feel. But
you cannot tell me that the Buffalo Bills seasons of

(13:46):
coming just short of the Super Bowl are a complete
waste because they were still a very good football team.
That you can't tell me Jim Kelly's career was a
waste because he lost four straight Super Bowls. You can't
tell me that he doesn't deserve and that those teams
don't deserve to be lawed. It is some of the
best teams we've ever seen when you go to four
straight Super Bowls. I don't care that they lost four
straight super Bowls. At some point, greatness isn't about just

(14:08):
that one moment. Greatness is about everything else that leads
up to it. So why am I going to sit
here and do naked cartwheels for Trent Dilfer winning a
Super Bowl when he I mean, I don't want to
say he sucks. Let's just say that he's the captain.
If you were a superhero, he captain me.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
I don't want to say he sucks and then run
away from it again.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
You know what you want to me.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
He's captain me. No, not like JaMarcus Russell sucked. Trent
Dilford was captain mediocrity. Right, so you get a super Bowl, huzza, congratulations,
you did the impossible. But there's so much luck involved
in it. There's so much Did you get the right call,
the right ball, the right balance, all of these things,
all of these things factor into it. I refuse to
believe that an athlete that spends their entire life working

(14:48):
every second of every day tirelessly to be the best
they can should then suddenly be thrown out with the
bathwater because their team doesn't win a championship. That's just
a stupid way to use for championships don't matter.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
It's interesting because sports is designed that way, right, everybody
else is going home losers every year, like sports as
a construct. If you think that your team is supposed
to win a championship or your season has been a
failure every year, then you fundamentally and misunderstand how sports
have been put together. But that's not going to stop

(15:22):
people from judging an athlete, or a coach or a
team over a course of I mean, in the case
of the New England Patriots two decades or something to
that effect without bringing up the greatness that those championships
are associated with. I just don't. I don't think that

(15:43):
there's a world in which you can discount the most
difficult thing to do in any respective professional sport, even
as you are still trying to acknowledge how great individuals
who may not have achieved the highest of high in
team sports have been. You can't just throw away the

(16:03):
championships as if it doesn't matter. Otherwise, Fitzy, what are
we spending our time talking about? What do teams go
through the constant, painstaking process of trying to retool and
recalibrate their teams each and every offseason, if not for
the ultimate goal to try and win a championship, and
if they put together a team that features as you've
called him, captain mediocrity or whatever. As long as he

(16:26):
did his job, that makes him great. It may not
make him the greatest in terms of his football traits,
but it still makes him great.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
It helps define.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Him as great because he helped do the hardest thing possible,
which is win a championship in a team sport.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Or he just rode the coattails of everybody else around
him and got a ring out of it. So we're
supposed to view that the same like Look, I believe
championshould be a not the same by degrees.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
If you want to do it by degrees, then you
should be able to do it with people like delf By.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Degrees, I mean, I believe that if you win a championship,
it should be a feather in your cap. It can
be an extra piece of the coversation. That's a bonus
for you. You walk in, you got the bonus like being
on the floor if you win three straight challenges in
the floor. The Game show you get a bonus five
seconds a right, you got the championship, you get a bonus,
Like it's a little hey, oh, by the way, he's
got a championship. We've turned it from that instead too. Yeah,

(17:14):
but this bum over here doesn't have a championship, Like
is Robert or a better basketball player than Kobe was?
Because a big shot Bob won six titles and six
to zero on the finals, Like that's how stupid the
way we cover it becomes because we're so obsessed with
this one result like it is. And this is what
Shrzhevski and Saban both were famous for saying. Actually I

(17:35):
watched interviews with both of them and they said the
same thing. The reason you fall in love with the
process is because you need to be worried about being
your best. And one thing that Shryzhevsky said to his
team in an interview I watched was don't worry about
being the greatest, worry about being your best. And he
said the difference is you can't worry about the outcome,
so you can't control whether somebody else in the room

(17:55):
is the best you. So let me go back to
way he said it, don't worry about being the best,
your best. The whole principle here is you don't control
whether you're the best. You can't control of somebody in
the room is just better than you. If you come
in every single day and you are your best, you
are going to be proud of the result that you get.
That won them a lot of championships by stacking rosters

(18:15):
full of guys that knew how to be their best,
but they weren't focused on being the best. They were
focused on being their best. And that's a substantial difference.
I think that we lose sight of man, this guy
Cooper Flag was clearly the best player in college basketball
this year.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
And I don't care who wins a championship.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
They are not suddenly a better player for college basketball
this year than Cooper Flag was, just because they get
the chip.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
It just doesn't work that way.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
For me, and especially because of what a sole crushing
loss it was by Duke, and with the official controversy
that you have thrown in there, as you could do
with almost any of these results, and the way that
we've talked about it, specifically because to your point, Fitsie
Cooper Flag is I mean, almost assuredly for no earthly

(18:59):
reason with Cooper flag come back to the sport of
college basketball, and so he'll never be able to have
that kind of a moment where you know, the coach
says to the player, well, I don't think you've been
able to accomplish everything that you could possibly accomplish here
just yet, and the answer is all always yeah, but
the money.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
So you get into.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
These complications when you start to talk about specifically the
way that college basketball is a sport is set up,
and I could you know, I could spend an hour
talking about all the problems I think the one and
done is caused in college basketball, but I know we've
got to talk some draft here in a second.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Look, I want to have that conversation with you because
I think college basketball is healthier and better than it's
ever been. We will have that debate as this show
rages on because it's a big basketball weekend.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
But in a minute, we're going to be.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Joined by somebody that knows the draft better than anyone,
and Frankly had the strongest statements I've ever heard on
one of the top prospects. We'll do that, but first months,
he got to get us caught up on what is
going on right now.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Hey, guys, I'm happy to be hanging out Jason. It's
been a while, so I know all well, happy to
be hanging out with you guys on this Sunday, and
a lot is going on. I don't even know where
to begin, but let's start with the Huskies. Yukon has
won the women's NCAA Basketball Championship with just an impressive
eighty two to fifty nine win over South Carolina.

Speaker 7 (20:16):
This is the huskies first title.

Speaker 8 (20:17):
Since twenty sixteen and twelfth title over all. Congratulations to Yukon.
Now let's move on to the NBA. It's been all
Lakers against the Thunder.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
It still is.

Speaker 8 (20:28):
LA is up one O five to eighty three early
in the fourth quarter. Luka Thancic has been the leading scorer.

Speaker 7 (20:33):
This entire game. He still is.

Speaker 8 (20:35):
He's got twenty eight points to lead LA. Shake Gilges
Alexander doing what he can for OKC. He's got twenty
six points. But it has been all LA this entire game.

Speaker 7 (20:45):
In baseball, we've had four walkoffs. The latest walkoff.

Speaker 8 (20:49):
That just happened was between the Rangers and the Rays.
Jonah Heim with an RBI single, they walk it off
four to three. The Tigers walked it off against the
White Sox ninth thanks to Spencer Torkolsen to RBI double,
final score four to three.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
The Pirates who walked.

Speaker 8 (21:05):
It off against the Yankees thanks to Tommy fam with
an RBI single in the eleventh inning. Just all kinds
of walk offs going on. The Phillies held on to
beat the Dodgers eight to seven. So what's going on
right now? It's a tie game between the Astros and
the Twins. They are tied at seven apiece. Bottom of
the ninth inning is about to start in Minnesota. The
Padres have just taken the lead from the Cubs eight

(21:27):
to seven. Bottom of the ninth inning in Chicago, about
to start all Rockies against the A's. Twelve to four
is the score. Bottom of the eighth inning. Top of
the six between the Mariners and the Giants. San Francisco
is up four to two, and another tie game between
the Guardians and the Angels.

Speaker 7 (21:43):
They're tied to two apiece, top of the sixth inning.

Speaker 8 (21:46):
And we'll check in on the NHL, where the Wilds
have taken the lead from the Stars. They're up two
to one with seven minutes to go in the third period.
But more importantly, in case you missed it, let's listen
to it one more time.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Wilson shattered up.

Speaker 9 (22:01):
Oh that's the Anthony Stars.

Speaker 10 (22:03):
He stares Alex avestan star Saint ninety five. There's a
new gold starring champion and his name is Alex Sander.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Oh, vet's deed.

Speaker 9 (22:19):
He has done it here on Lloyd Island. His teammates
by them, but there is but one Alex Sander. The greats,
the greatest to ever do it in that stall Hottey
League history.

Speaker 7 (22:35):
You just heard on the Capital's radio network. Now, the
Capitals did lose to the Islanders. Oh, Florida one was
the final score. But it's crazier about this, guys.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
He did it playing the exact same amount of games
as Wayne Gretzky one thousand, four hundred and eighty seven.

Speaker 7 (22:54):
That's creepy. That's creepy. How is it the same number?
I don't like it. It's creepy. Back to you, guys,
I love, I'm.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Not gonna lie. I just I think I think the
symbolism is great.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
But yeah, probably Wayne Wayne who like the great ish one.
I'm kidding nobody course, the hockey guy and golf guy,
are the angriest people.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
On the internet in my experience.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
If you don't speak their language, they will, they will
come for you.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
You're not wrong. We'll get to hockey guy in a minute.
By the way, Alex Evechkin doing great things at Buck
but and we'll get back to our raising debate on
why championships don't matter.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
But we'll bring in somebody first.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Every time I say it, I could see bucks face
and it just makes him crawl, like his skin crawls
every time we say I'm sure that Field Yates skin
crawled hearing me say that as well. But Field one
of the most measured, smart, intelligent, well rounded.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Draft people I've ever worked with in my life.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
And I set that up because Field Yates joins us
now from ESPN, And I feel I called you full
transparency because I was watching NFL Live the other day
and you were at Colorado's pro day and you said
about Travis mclada, so the first time you've seen him
in person and you'd never seen anything like it, And
that hit me because you're not a hot take guy.
So let's start there. What stood out to you so

(24:15):
much about why isn't that different?

Speaker 11 (24:17):
Yeah, guys, thanks for having me on. First of all,
And you know Travis Hunter. When I arrived to Colorado
the night before the pro day, there was some uncertainty
whether he would do anything, and given how much he's
accomplished and being the Rainy Heisman Trophy winner and being
in this era that we're in now where we don't
necessarily see everything from the top prof sects before the draft.
If he had done nothing, I wouldn't have faulted him

(24:38):
one bit. He decided, though, to catch passes from Shdor Sanders,
and just seeing him warm up, warm up, I swear
it was like watching NFL general managers and coaches and
scouts and imagining them admiring their children at their own
sporting events. That's how close attention so many onlookers were
paying to Travis Hunter. And then where did he moved?

(24:59):
It's almost like a vide D game. Who is likely
You don't really know how to describe it other than that,
but the movement skills are so sudden, yet you're so controlled.
He was going no gloves throughout the workout. Apparently he hasn't
even any gloves to have the kind of hands that
he does. He just was effortless and everything away. And
you know, I know, one of the big questions about
Travis Hunter for those that are picking the smallest of

(25:22):
niches with him, is you know, how big is he?
And yeah, he's a lean guy for sure, but it
looked like he was closer to six to one to
me than maybe where he had been listed that previously.
So the size not really wasn't really a concern for
me going into the Pro day, But I left the
Pro Day feeling even less concerned about it. So the
Titans are probably going to head towards cam One at

(25:42):
number one overall. I don't have a major issue with that.
Of course, this team has kind of forecast that it's
moved with the way that it's treated the quarterback position
this offseason. That being said, given how much uncertainty there
is between the next best quarterback in the draft class,
I would be very surprised if the brown can bring
themselves the passing on Travis Hunter at number two overall.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Field Yates is here with us on Fox Sports Sunday.
Of course, you can check out all the work that
he does on ESPN dot Com as well as on ESPN.
To that point, then, Field, why Travis Hunter over Abdul
Carter with the opportunity to pair Carter potentially with a
generational pass rusher and Miles Garrett, who they've finally gotten
to pacify after a while.

Speaker 11 (26:23):
Yeah, I forty million dollars a year would do that
to all of us.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Probably is the answer to all your questions. A wise man,
Tony Kornheiser once said, that's right.

Speaker 11 (26:34):
That's right. Tony continues to find ways to sinkly describe
all of the world issues. I would just say this
is you know it, is there a lot of president
for guys playing too puss in the NFL? Obviously the
answer is no. You know, He's seen players have some
level of college success, whether it's Champ Bailey or Chris
Gamble or Charles Woodson playing on both sides of the ball.

(26:56):
But we really haven't had a player that is anywhere
close to where Travis Hunter was this past season, really
the past two seasons. When you look back at the
last let's call it forty or fifty years, I mean
you're going back into the era of like Pick Buckis
and Paul Horning and people like that. We're talking about
versatility that even comes close to where Travis Hunter is
at so I don't think the idea of I'm playing

(27:17):
both ways is unfounded. And you know Travis Hunter and
Abdu Carter. I'm not going to sit here and say
that if the Browns take Carter at number two overall,
they've made some sort of catastrophic era. Just you have
to pick one, and the versatility and the opportunity to
check even if it's one and a half of your
boxes off wide receiver and a half of the snaps
defensive back or a full time corner and a half

(27:38):
of the snaps wide receiver, to me, is just too tantalizing.
The Browns have so many needs right now, and their roster,
of course, quarterback is still amongst them. But the fact
that they can add a player who would instantly become
their biggest threat on offense for a defense that's just
two seasons ago was pretty darn good to me is
tantalizing enough that I'd be thinking long and hard about it.

(27:59):
At number two.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
How panicked should Browns fans be about the fact that
they simply don't I mean, Kenny Pickett, what are we
doing for you? Yeah?

Speaker 11 (28:08):
I think it's probably there's there's a couple more shoes
to drop here. You know, thankfully we're only what two
and a half weeks from the drafts, so we don't
have to speculate on which quarterbacks are going which round
for a whole lot longer. But it does feel like
some teams in this feel as though in this draft,
specifically the past cam Ward you might better served sort
of living in the round two, round three quarterback land,

(28:30):
which is unusual, or maybe at least unusual relative to
last season when we had the biggest gap ever in
quarterbacks being taken, which was Bonexit twelve and then not
again until sensor round there was picked in the fifth
round was one hundred thumb picks later. So it feels
very different after last year's class had just such a
sort of feast or famine nature to your quarterback evaluation.

(28:53):
But it seems like teams are much more comfortable with
some of these day two options or even late round
one options, or a team with trade back into the
first round, secure that fifth year option and beat out
whatever competition they may have to acquire those quarterbacks. On
top of that, you know, Kirk Cousins, until there is
absolute one hundred percent clarity, and I would say this
not from the Falcon's side. You know, whatever they say,

(29:14):
they're just they're doing what they have to do right
they are doing you know, general managers speak until there's
a Kirk Cousins resolution, but until we hear from Kirk
that he plans to be content as Michael Pennock's backup
for this upcoming season. I am now I'm not discounting
the possibility that Kirk Cousins winds up a Cleveland Brown.
At this point, it would have to be through a trade,

(29:35):
because the Falcons got past that guarantee date for Kirk Cousins,
at which point, you know, ten million dollars more to
eventually cut him is negligence of the highest order. So
I think the Browns probably have their eyes set on
Kirk Cousins, maybe during draft weekend or shortly thereafter, plus
another young quarterback they can acquire, maybe not at pick
number two, but a little bit later on in.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
The draft field.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
And your sit down with Shador at the Colorado show
Case not prote I know Dion was keen on calling
it a showcase this time around.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
He told you you would be a fool not to
pick me.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
Talking about teams who might potentially pass on him in
the draft. Is he a prospect where you see you
know the greatest amount of potential variance for where he
might actually go, given the way that these quarterback dominos
continue to fall, and where Pittsburgh may not necessarily be
keen on a quarterback in the draft at twenty one,
but still doesn't have a hard resolution on Aaron Rodgers yet,

(30:29):
And until they.

Speaker 11 (30:29):
Do, you can't just treat it as if it's a
fad of complee right. You have to assume there's a
possibility he won't come to you, because we have seen
Aaron Rodgers operates on his own timeline and certainly Marshston
being his own drum. So what I would say is,
I'm pluck.

Speaker 5 (30:43):
I have a piece coming out.

Speaker 11 (30:44):
Next week about players who have wide ranges, So you
have good instincts relative to where the ESPN dot com
editorial instincts are as well. Because it is a question
that people are asking, is are we going to have
the story of the first out of the draft be
the wait for sad your standers. My answer is possibly.
I think the range for Shador is as early as two,

(31:05):
and I think it's probably as late as I'm going
to use pick twenty one, where the Steelers pick, But
you could make the case that it's probably a little
earlier than twenty one, because I think what's possible is,
you know, teams don't feel as convicted about taking Shadoor
Jackson Dart in the top five, but they feel fine
with the idea of trading back up into the first

(31:26):
round from you know, Cleveland has pick thirty three, the
Giants have picked thirty four. That maybe you see some
sort of action of that variety once we get to
I guess there'll probably be like ten thirty Eastern time,
you know, the back half of that first round of
the draft. But I do think Guy is certainly in
play here. Chador is probably near the top of the
list in terms of the wide ranges for quarterbacks very early,

(31:47):
but Jackson Dart is in that same category as well,
because I think Jackson's range starts inside the top ten.
I don't know if it's high as shdor standards, but
it could go from pick nine New Orleans to maybe
pick thirty, which is the Giant's second round pick as
things presently stand.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Us as always Field, I appreciate my friend before to
check out, be sure to check out the first draft
to pod wherever you get your pods in on YouTube.
You guys are doing great work. I listened to it

my own prep for the draft. So Field always appreciates
your expertise. Brother, Thank you, guys.

Speaker 11 (32:18):
And there goes fits bragging about how he has time
to work out.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
I'm like the rest of us, Well you know that, Field,
you kids, all right, you got you got kids you're
dealing with, you got protos you're dealing with, you got
all kinds of things.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
I'm just I'm just running around trying to make sure
that my my man boobs look good. Field always appreciates you, bro, guys.
And I worked man moves into the show.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
So that's great on that front. By the way, I lawyer,
thank you.

some college basketball obviously because we're in the think of it.
But history was made today. We'll tell you about it next.
Bucking Fits on a Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. I love that is.

(33:25):

the show should be renamed into man Boobs and Poop
Scoop and he's Buck Rising. I'm Jason Fitz his Bucking
Fits on a Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
I don't care what we call it. As long as
I have this music behind me for the rest of
my life. It makes me feel particularly entitled.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Yeah, oh my god, I love the like now I
have this image in my head of Buck Rising walking
in like this is what we need to do in
Nashville because the little kids are possible to get a
table anywhere in Nashville when you want to go out
to eaton lestship, Buck Rising, because says you, Bud, you're
basically a local celebrity, right, But I think you should
go in with the entourage we all know you have,

(34:03):
like the five hangar ons that are always with you,
and one of them should have to have one of
those like old school boomboxes, and they should play that music.
And then they should walk in ahead of you and
be mister Rising with like his table and then set
that on the table while you sit in order to
stake it like well done. Like that's the only way
that this happens, Like I need you to, I need
I need it to be a terrible order. It just

(34:23):
has to come with that music.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Oh yeah, no, it could be chicken tenders for all
I care. As long as it comes with that music.
It makes me. That's that's the only reason I work
fits you, is so that I could get to a
point in my life where I can pay. So I'll
even pay somebody to walk around with that boom box
and play that music behind me. Everybody wants a theme
song that's mine.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Okay, Look, we all got to have our intro music.
I love that. I would want like some eighties wrestling thing.
And Buck wants the tinkling of piano keys behind it
by a tractor. Stull knows a winning season takes practice, teamwork,
and it can do attitude like Buck has. Thankfully, when
you have a neighbor like tractor Supply, teamwork comes easy.
Whether you're carrying for pets chickens, which obviously both of
us care for often, or few wakers. Our team members
will help you succeed season after season. Tractor Supply for

(35:04):

much about chickens, but I do know that I get
to make this hot take for one day.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
But for one day, I could just say Wayne Gretzky's.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Irrelevant no longer matter how how we do this, I
just I love that I could just Hockey Guy is
right now yelling into their and by the way, before
Hockey Guy ats me at Jason Fitz follow me to
heye follows count.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
You know, when I was a kid, they thank you,
thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
My dad was a big hockey fan, and so he
would get the Stanley Cup playoffs videotape because we didn't
have the money for cable, and at the end of
the Stanley Cup playoffs, they would all be like a
box would come to my dad, his buddy would videotape.
I mean, he'd get him mailed and we would sit
down and watch those Edmonton oiler Wayne Gretzky teams. When
he was traded to the La Kings and I was

(36:01):
living in Vegas as a little kid, that was such
a significant moment for hockey that it just felt like
it was so important. So I understand hockey guy the
importance of Wayne Gretzky. But today, I mean, Ovechkin comes
in and does that do we have to give him
a nick Like when you nickname somebody the great one
and their scoring record is tied, I wonder if they
also become that same category. This is what it sounded

(36:22):
like when Olvetski joined the elite category of being one
in one with Wayne Gretzky right side to Wilson shattered up.

Speaker 10 (36:29):
Olveskin has any stars he stares Alex so betchtan, Star
Saint ninety five.

Speaker 12 (36:38):
There's a new.

Speaker 9 (36:40):
Gold storing champion, and his name he is Alex Sander.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Oh betchtan.

Speaker 9 (36:47):
He has done it here on Long Island. His teammates
bob him. There is but one alex Sander the greats
the greatest you ever do it?

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Nation at all Hoty League history.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
What do you think buck the greatest ever?

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Do it?

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Now?

Speaker 3 (37:07):
See really good? That's really good.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
And and you know, I kind of love Alexander the
Great as a nickname. I don't know if it's better
than the great One because because it's just supposed to
be the great one, right, But now there's two of them,
and I mean FITZI. I don't know if you saw
this the other day, the fact that he was going
on about in their post game against I can't remember that.

(37:30):
It's Chicago. They played Chicago a couple of nights ago.
They had an empty netter opportunity for him to break
the record, and he said, in somebody else's words, he
wants to break the record with a goaltender in the crease.
He didn't want to break it on an empty netter.
He's a king as far as I'm concerned Ovechkin is
the man. I'm glad to see him do it. I
know it was in a loss, but still an awesome moment.

(37:52):
He is a king within that sport.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
Look, a free French break can hit the floor and
I'm going to debate eating it. So a free goal
I'm going to take and it doesn't really matter matter
how I get it.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
That's why I am a man with low standards in
these things.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
That's that's why you are not Jason the Great Well.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
I mean, you know what, to my dogs like they
maybe it give me that title, I do think it's
we want to give a little time here in a
lot of respect because I think what it speaks to
is dominance, longevity, the incredible ability to remain so important
to the sport like this is this.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Alexander of Hkin moment in in a weekend.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
That's lost with college basketball book, you have to stop
everything for a second and say, wait, this is the
sort of thing. Championships may not matter to me, but
things like this speak so loudly they matter and in
ways I can't even find words for.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
And the fact that he has a championship makes him
even greater, which.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Oh so he wouldn't be so so Alex the Great
would only be Alex the pretty good if he hadn't
won a Stanley Cup along the way.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Maybe you don't know. We'll never find out.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
God, oh my god, this is what I deal with
like this, and y'all wonder why, like I would you
deal with Yeah, I deal with you. People.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
People heard that first hour and they're sure on my.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
Side, championships don't matter, and college basketball is healthier than
it's ever been. It's about to thrive. I'll tell you why.
Bucking fits on a Fox Sports Sunday For the first time.
I feel like we finally have clarity in the NFL
Draft with what's gonna happen at number one. The problem is,
once we get past that spot, there's unprecedented confusion about

(39:21):
what could be next. We could see the rise or
the free fall of some of the biggest names we've
been talking about in this year's draft at a historic level,
and I'm not sure the closer we get to the
draft that we're actually gonna get any answers until Draft night.
He's Buck Rising, I'm Jason fitz It's Bucking fits on
a Fox Sports Sunday hanging out with you, broadcasting live
from the tiraq dot com studios. Tyrack dot com. We

(39:44):
help you get there, an unmatched selection, fast free shipping.
Who doesn't love that free road has a protection which
I need? And over ten thousand recommended installers ti rack
dot com the way tire buying should be, Buck Rising.
You have been around and have covered the Tennessee Titans
for a minute. At this point, you are very experienced
with this franchise, and I think a significant thing happened
this week, right. I think the cancelation of any future

(40:07):
meetings with the Colorado Kids, if we want to call
them that at this point by the Tennessee Titans was
a bit of an indication, right, Like, I think they're
making it very clear.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Can we agree on this? We haven't agreed on much today.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Can we agree that as we stand today, it has
become abundantly clear that Titans will select cam Ward with
the first overall pick listen.

Speaker 4 (40:24):
They had their staff go to the Colorado showcase for
basically to keep up appearances, because we've all known for
a pretty decent amount of time at this point that
they don't have a choice but to take cam Ward
and their decisions with the quarterback room, specifically in free
agency reinforce that their decisions with the offensive line reinforcements

(40:47):
they brought in made that clear that they were preparing
themselves to deal with a young first round quarterback.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
And I know that Mike Borganzi, the new GM here.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
In Nashville, has been pretty consistent on we're going to
go through every part of the process, and they went
through every part of the process and they're still taking
cam Ward.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
So that's fine. I love the clarity.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
I love that we can move on because to your point, Fits,
I really think the rest of the draft is determined
by how you view Travis Hunter. And in our earlier conversation,
if the audience missed it on Fox Sports Sunday, we
talked to Field Yates of ESPN in the first hour,
one of their excellent draft analysts, and kind of got
into from his perspective as a former scout and now

(41:26):
a scout working in the media, how a team like
the Cleveland Browns could not afford to pass up on
Travis Hunter but immediately mentioned him as the most explosive
weapon on their offense.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
Travis Hunter.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
There's some reason to believe that the best position for
him would be at quarterback. The question is which position
would he rather be paid at or paid for, because
you stand to make a hell of a lot more
money a wide receiver right now than you do at corner,
even though the quarter money is starting to keep up.
So I think that has a huge impact on how
the rest of the draft order goes down. And Andrew

(42:00):
is on record the Cleveland Browns general manager saying that
they view him as a wide receiver primarily.

Speaker 1 (42:05):
Well and Dan Rolovski on ESPN last week said he
thinks that Travis Hunter has justin Jefferson like qualities and
would absolutely play him at wide receiver because if you
play him the corner, you can keep the ball away
from him. If he's on offense, the other team has
to deal with them every single play.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
So you know.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
The interesting thing to me again, and part of the
reason that we wanted to bring Field on to talk
is because Field is not a hot take guy.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
So when I saw him on.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
NFL ive say, I've never seen anything I hadn't and
this is an important caveat. He made it clear he's
watched Travis Hunter's tape, but it was the first time
he'd ever seen him run in person, and he immediately said,
I've never seen anything like it. Well, that's from Field, who's.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Seen a lot of players up close and personal.

Speaker 1 (42:45):
That's worked. As you mentioned for NFL teams as a scout.
How many gms and owners in the building walked away
from Colorado's day feeling the same way? You know what
I mean? Like, how many measured minds that study football
every day looked at it and said, man, I thought
I knew what I was going to see, but I
see it in person, Like it makes sense to me.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
If Field, the most level, even.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
Keeled person I know, gets worked up over it, then
I can't imagine what another team that's picking at two, three, four,
five six, any of these teams, I can't imagine how
their football minds are reacting when they see it. And
you look at it in person, you say, oh my god,
this this hits different and that's why it has so
much wait to me, Like, I believe that if the
Cleveland Browns look at it and say it is clear

(43:27):
Hunter is the best player available, the Cleveland Browns are
not in a spot where they can pass up a
great player. Take the best player, Go make yourself better.
And if that means you have a bad quarterback situation,
I'm really sorry. But what you don't fix anything by
reaching in a quarterback and missing. We always talk about
overdrafting the quarterback. Instead, we need to also talk about

(43:47):
the player you're not selecting with the second overall pick
that you could have selected with that overall pick that
makes your roster demonstrably better minute one.

Speaker 4 (43:57):
NFL teams would benefit a great deal by just boiling
it down to this, keep it simple, stupid, and the
simplest thing is Travis Hunter with the second overall pick.
There was a lot of noise made down here in Nashville,
specifically because the president of football Operations for the Titans,
who has final say over the roster down here, said
to some effect early in the pre draft process that

(44:18):
they would not pass on a generational talent at number one,
which opened the door for the Travis Hunter discussion. Now,
I don't think any of us consider cam Ward necessarily
to be generational. Nate Tice, who I know you work
with at Yahoo, came on my radio show here locally
in Nashville and called him Diet Coke, Steve McNair cam Ward.
So I don't know that necessarily makes it generational, but

(44:40):
it hits all the right notes for a team that
has a desperate need at quarterback and a player who
shows some of those characteristics. But again, we have never
seen it means more coming from a person like field
to your point, because I can say I've never seen
anything like Travis Hunter, and it'd be like anybody else
who watches college football on a Saturday from their ouch
or from on their iPad or wherever you're watching college football, however.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
You're consuming it.

Speaker 4 (45:05):
But when somebody who has taken time to study the
tape on these players comes away from after seeing the
tape and seeing the player work out, understanding all the
different levels of the athleticism that this player needs to
have to be able to play the amount of snaps
that he did as a college player, to be able
to play two of the most athletic positions on the field,

(45:26):
and to have the acumen, the mental acumen to be
able to do it both while being an All American,
an academic All American, which you know, I think some people,
if you look at like a general studies major or whatever,
you might shrug your shoulders at he's an anthropology major,
like he cares about school, he cares about his craft,
he cares about the details and all of the things
required to be great at the next level. You cannot

(45:48):
ignore that just because I don't know really what he
is yet, but I'll figure it out.

Speaker 1 (45:53):
I also think, look, I've used this analogy a lot,
but as the fact kid in me loves this. I
want my favorite coaches, my favorite team's coach, my favorite
team's front office. I want them to be chopped. So
I want them to open a basket of ingredients. If
you ever watch food TV show, and I want them
to look at it and say, Okay, this is what
I have. I have spam and cheese whiz and these

(46:15):
and hot Tamali's, and I'm supposed to make you a
Michelin star meal, and they find a way to do it.
I want teams to be able to do that, so
I look at it for any of this argument of
not really sure what to do with Travis Hunter. If
you are a brilliant football mind and you can't figure
out what to do with Travis Hunter, then the team
shouldn't not pick Travis Hunter. The team should fire you.
Like if you are incapable of taking a great versatile

(46:39):
ingredient and finding a way to make it a successful
part of your program.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
That ain't on Travis Hunter. That's on you.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
And if the Browns have hired or in this case,
the you know whoever passes on it, if they look
at it and say, well, I just don't know what
to do with him, well damn it. If you don't
know what to do with greatness, then find somebody that
does that to me. Shay, our producer is a massive,
massive Browns fan, diehard lifelong Browns Unfortunately. Yeah, I know.

(47:05):
So let me ask you this, Shay. If I say,
with the second pick in the twenty twenty five NFL Draft,
on y'all who sports where you know, we'll be doing
our left stream shameless plug, Shay's Browns have selected Travis Hunter.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
What's your reaction.

Speaker 13 (47:18):
I'd be happier considering because I I for some reason,
I don't I.

Speaker 3 (47:24):
Don't believe you. That's sigh. I don't believe it.

Speaker 13 (47:27):
It's like it's like, you know me, I'm a Browns fan,
Like there isn't a lot of things I can be
happy about.

Speaker 3 (47:33):
So it's like, of course, but.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
Like, look, I mean Buck and I are gonna give
you a little old man wisdom here. You just did
the whole Like if a girl walks in and it's like, hey,
can we go to dinner tonight?

Speaker 2 (47:43):
And you're like, I mean i'd be happier.

Speaker 1 (47:48):
Like, you're not starting the tone off right, You're not
getting everybody excited, Shaye, Like what what would excite you?

Speaker 2 (47:52):
What would make your no no place to say?

Speaker 3 (47:54):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (47:54):
Yes for the Browns?

Speaker 13 (47:55):
Yes, yes, yeah, okay, most probably not getting a quarter
back at all. And we go with our second pick,
the guy who I've I was telling you guys about,
Oh my god, why is his name out of my
head right now?

Speaker 3 (48:10):
Abdul Carter exactly.

Speaker 13 (48:11):
So I don't think the leg injury is something I
really need to worry about, especially under Miles Garrett. Like
he won't have to put a big bloat on his
back like he will have to do on a lot
of other teams. So one hundred percent, Abdul Carter would
be the guy that I would want and be very
happy with. But like, it's not a close second, like
Travis Hunter to me is not a close second. But

(48:32):
if they were to get Travis Hunter, I wouldn't be upset,
it would It would be like me going from a
ten to like a seven, you know at that party,
which the seven is not horrible, Like I'm I'm cool
with the seven. I'm not hating on the seven, you know,
Like but the ten, I don't know if coming from
a room full of seconds, but no, I don't want
a quarterback at all, Like I don't want I'm saying

(48:54):
things about Travis Hunter, Kenny Pickett, bud No, do you
mean super Bowl champion?

Speaker 3 (48:59):
Kenny make it? Come on?

Speaker 1 (49:01):
Oh wait wait wait, according to Buck means Kenny Brown
fan is now. According to according to Buck, we have
to give Kenny Pickett's career more weight because he has
a championship.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
That's the way that works. Yes, you know now Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
Obviously absolutely do.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
You don't me far better quarterback Josh Allen. You know
Josh Allen doesn't have that Super Bowl ring yet Kenny
Pickett does. God, I am first take trolling you at
this point, I or the snow.

Speaker 3 (49:25):
You're gross is what you are?

Speaker 1 (49:27):
Keep it moving, thank you? All right? So it's clear
that Shay Shaye hates Travis Hunter.

Speaker 3 (49:32):
That's the only Yeah, that's totally what I said.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
Yeah, I feel like that's a fair paraphrase, But.

Speaker 4 (49:37):
I want to I want to come back to this
thing about not you know, I don't want a quarterback
at all.

Speaker 3 (49:42):
I don't want a quarterback at all. Well, that again,
you are.

Speaker 4 (49:46):
You are scarred in ways that are irreparable because your
team did the dumbest thing at quarterback that any team
has ever done. I was an owners meeting earlier in
the week, Shay, and I heard Jimmy Haslam say, oh,
you know, are bad hold me in de accountable. Everybody
looking around like, how are you gonna hold you accountable?
This is the decision that you made, and everybody, nobody

(50:06):
suffers more than the people who have zero say in
the quarterback decisions that you make in the Cleveland Browns
fan base. So I guess, I guess I get that,
given that's how you've come to this decision. But man,
that's a that's a tough place to exist. And I
know you understand that better than most.

Speaker 13 (50:23):
No, one hundred percent you know that. But it's I
was actually happy HASLM did that because he's never once
taken accountability for anything in this organization. And he just goes, oh,
We're on to the next one. Blah, blah blah blah blah.
So that definitely made me happy a little bit.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
At least.

Speaker 13 (50:37):
I still hate HASLM, so that's definitely something I gotta
put out there.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
But no, I'm in Tennessee, so there.

Speaker 13 (50:44):
Yeah, I'm sure I don't think anyone really likes Haslam.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
But uh yeah, non Watson does.

Speaker 3 (50:51):
Yeah, I mean after that contract.

Speaker 13 (50:54):
Oh yeah, but no, it's I mean people are saying
they're gonna cut him, which I don't get. Go ahead,
you know, like I just want to get rid of him.
I don't want I just think they're going to do
the Browns thing and do the wrong thing no matter
what this season in the draft. So it's like, might
as well just not do the wrong thing and maybe
just don't get a quarterback. Like that's how I feel.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
So that's the wrong They tractor supply, by the way,
they do the right thing. They know a winning season
takes practice, teamwork, and it can do attitude, which obviously
none of us have for the Browns. Thankfully, when you
have a neighbor like tractors for supply, teamwork comes easy,
whether you're caring for pets, chickens or a few acres.
Our team members will help you succeed season after season.

a question about quarterbacks. Why the fall of Schadur could
be stunning and the rise of Jackson.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
Could easily be weird. We'll break it down next.

Speaker 1 (51:55):
He's buck Rising Up Jason Fitzit's bucking fits on a
Fox Sports Sunday. You realize how much Chason his belt
could charge for a concert of the Exit. And He's
buck rising up Jason Pitt hagging out with you on
a Fox Sports Sunday. Go listen to Jason his belt music.
He's very good. We're coming into live from the Tyraq
dot com studios or Beyonce. I love Beyonce. I'm not
gonna lie about that beehive like I love. I love

(52:17):
commercially popular music for like it's commercially popular for a reason.
I'm a pop tart. I am pop dart through and
through pop tarts themselves, disgusting pop tart. I'm you know,
I'm the type of guy that loves pop music and
I'm you know, I'm.

Speaker 4 (52:30):
T How do you just manage to offend so many
different people and in one fell swoop like not even
like anti pop tart.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
You starts are trash, pop tarts are trash. You're not
even the good kind of pop tart. But Buck.

Speaker 13 (52:45):
One time, this was on the Fellas, like maybe a
couple months ago. It was Christmas time, and you know
who's big on Christmas time at Michael Boublay and me.
This guy goes on how he hates Michael Boublay.

Speaker 3 (52:58):
It was you and Anthony.

Speaker 1 (53:01):
I just I think booblaze a little.

Speaker 3 (53:02):
Maybe he's defensive. You've got him right now. You can
say it in the overnights, but you don't say it
during the day time.

Speaker 1 (53:09):
I hate Booblez, but I think Boobles maybe just a
little overrated, you know, like kind of like Spristein's overrated,
Like just come at me, like.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
I'm gonna the audio. Don't want I said.

Speaker 1 (53:17):
Overrated, Like look, it's just I love how people are
like he he writes music that speaks to a whole generation. No,
he wrote music that spoke to a very specific group
of people that lived in a very specific part of
the country, that came from a very specific place. Like whatever,
it's fine. It's fine now that I've said spritein is
overrated and booblez all right. I don't know how to
save myself from this quarterback.

Speaker 3 (53:38):
No saving yourself. You can try and swand are pad like.

Speaker 1 (53:44):
You can't tell me pop tarts are good.

Speaker 3 (53:45):
You've never had a smorest pop tart. You any kind
of pop forgot?

Speaker 4 (53:50):
We're making edible mascots for how good pop tarts are now,
stop it?

Speaker 1 (53:54):
Okay, like that stop making No, I mean they make
edible like they make mascots for mayonnaise too. It may
naise is trash.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
So like, look, I need the quarterback down here about mayonnaise.

Speaker 1 (54:03):
Well maybe that maybe if you spent a little less
time with may own a little more time in the film,
will had.

Speaker 4 (54:09):
A very nice perfume, mayonnaise scented perfume to offer to.

Speaker 3 (54:13):
Those of you who are still betting on it on eBay.

Speaker 1 (54:15):
I don't know what I would like less having to
watch Will Levice is my starting quarterback for a season,
or being handed a sandwich with mayonnaise on it. Both
of them sound like I've just turned it around. I'm like,
you know what, I'll see you next year.

Speaker 3 (54:26):
I just think your food tastes are terrible.

Speaker 4 (54:28):
Like you, you are so warped in the way that
you talk about food or or any anything.

Speaker 3 (54:32):
Really, you're swarped.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
J I was a fat kid, like I love.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
I love food.

Speaker 2 (54:37):
I love all kinds of food.

Speaker 1 (54:38):
I love like I could I could eat you know,
mac and cheese all day and be happy.

Speaker 3 (54:42):
But I don't need your like barter fides.

Speaker 4 (54:44):
I don't need you to brag to me any different
kinds of food you eat? What makes a different foods
you eat? What makes a pop tart good? It's just
it's sweet and savory. What do you mean it's easy?
And it's also all you got to do is open it.

Speaker 13 (54:56):
It's like you warmed something up, like a nice little
warm toaster shootle, But it's not. You don't have to
warm it up. It's easy, like it's the easiest snack
to get. Just take the l fits No.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
I mean, if your argument is it's easy to open
like if you've gotten to a lazy point with the dessert,
that the only reason, the only argument you can make
for why it's good is it's easy to open. I
don't know, man like that seems like, well, okay, fine,
pop tarts have fallen down my snack draft, much like
Shador may fall down the NFL draft. And I'll be honest,

(55:26):
and I keep qualifying this conversation because I want to
be clear. It's not about mock drafts. Because we all
have friends that do mock drafts. I've talked to people
behind the scenes that do mock drafts, and they'll tell you,
at some point, you get bored, you need clicks.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
You're doing your eighteenth mock draft. You change some things,
buck right.

Speaker 1 (55:40):
We all know this, right, So there's a difference between
mock drafts and actual conversation. And I'm curious because you
were at the owner's meetings. And here's what really hits me.
When the rumors were out there that the mayonnaise man
was going to fly up into the.

Speaker 2 (55:54):
First round of Will Levis was going.

Speaker 1 (55:55):
To be first round pick, I hit up people that
I think are smart behind the scenes, and I asked,
is this real? And I got laughed at No, Will
Levis is going to be a second round pick. Nothing real.
Last year, when bon Nick started to fly up the
draft boards, I hit those people up and I said, Hey,
is this real or is this another Will Levis? And
I got the immediate answer, no, this is real, like
Bonnicks is going to go to the Broncos and it's
going to work. Sean Payton has this guy like these

(56:17):
were things that we were hearing. I'll say two things. One,
I've gone back to that same group of people and
I've said, all right, is Jackson Dart more like Will
Levis or more like Bonnicks? Is he rising? Or is
it this all the smokescreen across the board. I got
the answer, noe, heck of a lot closer to Bonex.
He is going to go in the first half of
the first round. So then I said, okay, what's that

(56:37):
mean for Shador? And this is where it's unprecedented. I
have gotten different answers, not like close I've gotten I've
got a third rate ground great on him. I've got
teams teams think he's a late second round pick, teams
think he's a mid first round pick. I've got things
teams think he could go as high as second overall,
Like I can honestly take from smart people, I've seen

(56:58):
a range of pick two all the way to pick
basically one hundred for Shirdeur Sanders. And that's why Buck,
this feels like we're hitting an unprecedented draft day.

Speaker 4 (57:08):
That's just the thing that you have to remember on
draft day is that we have no idea what these
teams draft boards actually look like. So it really just
depends which teams you're talking to about this. Because FITZI,
I have no doubt you're speaking to credible people on
the Will Levis thing, for example. But I know for
a fact because I cover them and I talk to
people in the draft rod about it. They tried to
trade up into the first round to draft Will Levis.

(57:30):
They tried to trade with Minnesota on that Thursday night.
They ultimately didn't get up into the first round. They
traded up at the top of the second to get them.
But there's a very real world in which Will Levis
would be a first round draft pick just because one
team decided, all right, Will Levis is worthy of a
first round draft pick. That's obviously not the way that
it played out. You'd feel much worse about the Levis

(57:51):
experience if he was in fact that and he wasn't
able to do the thing which we were almost curious
about coming out of his twenty twenty two season versus
twenty twenty three, was was that level of production sustainable?

Speaker 3 (58:02):
And it wasn't for him? And he had a bunch of.

Speaker 4 (58:04):
Different things that factored into the analysis there. But that's
why I brought it up with Field Yates about Shador
Sanders having the most variance of any of these prospects
in this upcoming draft classes, because I think the gap
between Jackson, Dart and Shador Sanders is not very far
at all if there are not teams who outright favored
Dart over Jackson based on the amount of people that

(58:26):
you talk to about this, and it just comes back
to what is the geography for these quarterbacks and where
are they going to end up? Because we will see
players crash out and we will call them busts, and
we will see players selected far later in the first
round that go on to have spectacular careers and think
about it after the fact and say, well, how could

(58:48):
we have been How could we have been so blind
at the time to see how we missed how everybody
else passed on the brock parties of this world. Or
that's an extreme example obviously, but you get my point.
Team and deployment matters so much to these guys' success.
And it's not just the quarterback save all. You and
I have talked several times since the Super Bowl between

(59:09):
the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, which was
an absolute ass kicking of epic proportions in favor of
the better team whooping up on the best possible quarterback.
So I have no idea what's going to happen to
these guys as prospects. All I know is that for
probably all three of them that we're talking about at

(59:29):
the top of the quarterback draft, because those are two
different things, the draft and then the quarterback draft. Coach
Dave McGinnis always says, you have to consider, well, how
much more does a Jackson Dart fit the Los Angeles
Rams right than does Shador Sanders or that conversation around
the New Orleans Saints at nine or anybody else who's

(59:52):
even thinking about the possibility of a quarterback in this
year's draft class that is going to try and build
a team around them. We understand that the cam situation
is when you draft a quarterback with the first overall pick,
everything that the franchise does, from the janitorial staff to
the team owner has to be done in service of
seeing that number one overall pick at quarterback succeed. But

(01:00:14):
for the rest of them, they're going to have to
work through a couple of different variables here, which is
what makes it so much more unpredictable and I frankly
think more intriguing.

Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
That way, more intriguing and honestly, a free fall for
some of these players could lead to a better outcome.
I'll tell you what I mean coming up on the
Tirek dot Com studios, But first Mantzi's got to get
us caught up on what's going on.

Speaker 7 (01:00:37):
That's right, it's been a busy day today, guys.

Speaker 8 (01:00:39):
We're going to start in the NBA because now more
games are happening aside from the Lakers kicking the thunders
ass one.

Speaker 7 (01:00:45):
Twenty six to ninety nine was the final score in
that one. Luka Doncic leading the way.

Speaker 8 (01:00:50):
I think he ended with thirty points, yes, he did,
to go along with seven rebounds and six assists. So
the Lakers win that one pretty easily from start to finish.
Right now, the Kings and the Calves going at it.
Kings need to win this game. They have not clinched
a play in spot in the Western Conference, which is
really really tight.

Speaker 7 (01:01:07):
Right now, they are.

Speaker 8 (01:01:08):
Up in the They are up on the Calves in
Cleveland twenty six to twenty three late in the first quarter.
Celtics crushing the Wizards if anyone cares, thirty four eighteen
after the first quarter, and the Hawks are up on
the Jazz twenty seven to nineteen, also late in the
first quarter. In women's college hoopswellow you champion Yukon Huskies
crushed South Carolina eighty.

Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
Two to fifty nine.

Speaker 8 (01:01:29):
This is their first title since twenty sixteen, twelfth title overall.
Congratulations to Yukon. In baseball one games still going on
right now. All of them have wrapped up except for
the Mariners and the Giants. In fact, the Giants just
tied the game at home. So it's four four top
of the ninth inning, or excuse me, Mariners just tied
the game top of the ninth inning.

Speaker 7 (01:01:50):
They do have a man on second.

Speaker 8 (01:01:51):
And third and they're down to their final out. The
Angels just held on to defeat the Guardian. Six' two
was the final score in that. One The philly took
down The dodgers earlier to date eighty. Seven Blake snell
for The. Dodgers he's going on the fifteen day il
with shoulder. Inflammation they also got. Hit none of this
did everything for The dodgers in this one two, homers
But Nick castellanos hit a Grand slam in this. One

(01:02:13):
The pirates did walk it off against The Yankees tommy
fam with AN rbi single in the eleventh. Inning The
Red sox and The cardinals do have a double.

Speaker 7 (01:02:21):
Header their second.

Speaker 8 (01:02:22):
Game start said about thirty, minutes but the first One
Red sox walked it off five, four just like The,
tigers who walked it off against The White. Sox four
to three was the final. There The brewers outscored The
reds eight to. Two brewers have also Placed Nester Cortes
Nasty nester on the fifteen day il due to a
left elbow flexer. Strain while The astros top The twins
ninety seven in ten innings and on the ice got

(01:02:45):
some games going on as. Well The senators up on
The Blue jackets two zero late in the second. Period
The stars lost to The wild in overtime three to,
two and The islanders did outscore The capitals four to.
One but the big story is That Alex ovechkin in
the second period of that game hit goal number eight
hundred and ninety, five breaking Way gretzky's goals record all

(01:03:07):
time all in the same amount of games oney four
hundred and eighty. SEVEN i don't know if anyone is
gonna break this. Record and that's What Wayne gretzky told
him as they stopped the, game had a whole moment
literally in the middle of the second. Period they're just,
like we're just gonna celebrate right. Now IF i was The,
ISLANDERS i would have been, like can we wait until
this period is? Over and now they just stopped it
in the middle and did a whole, presentation.

Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
So they gotta get over. It they just gotta eat.

Speaker 7 (01:03:32):
THAT i just was, like if we just finished this,
period we're gonna have two different. Breaks but you, KNOW
i get.

Speaker 8 (01:03:38):
IT i get, It and Like gretzky, SAID i don't
think anyone's gonna break this. One so even though records
are meant to be, broken back to you guys also
fits no pop?

Speaker 7 (01:03:46):
Tarts what? Like what so a?

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
Freak you're a.

Speaker 7 (01:03:49):
FREAK i just it's just like.

Speaker 8 (01:03:51):
Such a like, Stance Like i'm not SAYING i love
a pop, tart but you, know like there's nothing wrong with,
them and you put one in front of me And
i'm gonna eat.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
It put. IT i walk into a room AND i
got a hundred pop tarts in front of. Me i'm
walking out of the room without having a single calorie in,
Me Like i've just, said not Worth even WHEN i,
was in FACT i eat and EVERYTHING i could put
in front of my, Face i'd still be like.

Speaker 7 (01:04:10):
Knock so what is that you don't like about? It is?
It is?

Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
It the?

Speaker 7 (01:04:13):
Texture is? It The it's just.

Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
It's just not none of it is elevated enough to be.
Good like the icing isn't good icing the e?

Speaker 3 (01:04:24):
Good you look it's. Optart get over.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
Yourself, Look i'll hoss up on like a cinnabon right
like because it's worth. It it's worth, It like this
is this is if you put bad icing with land
filling inside of a pastry dough that's kind of chewy
and doesn't taste like, anything you have a pop. Tart
all you got to do then is put it in
apparently and easy to open, package and now all of
a sudden people will flock to.

Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
It, LIKE i, mean it's just none of this is good.

Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Fits what's your what's your favorite? Candy? Then?

Speaker 7 (01:04:55):
Yeah like what is the? SNACK i?

Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
Mean ANY i love me some. Andies but if we're talking,
candies LIKE i Love mike And, Ikes mike And, Ice,
yeah those are a, delight it's not. Good mic And
ice are a. TREASURE i Love. Skittles i'm good on.

Speaker 7 (01:05:11):
Skittles, okay we're just opposite.

Speaker 8 (01:05:12):
HERE i don't, SKITTLES i don't Want mike And. IKES
i will take a Pop start any.

Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Day drops No. Oreos the only WAY i eat In
oreos IF i take the cookie and throw it. Away
the stuffing On oreos is a, Delight BUT i literally
take the cookie, apart throw the cookie portion. AWAY i
eat the. Middle what about a Thin?

Speaker 7 (01:05:28):
Oreo those are the thin ones making.

Speaker 1 (01:05:31):
You're taking away the only part that's.

Speaker 7 (01:05:32):
Good but it's less of the, inside and it's just like.

Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
IT'S i want. Less WHAT i want is a trough
of the.

Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
Ones, oh you.

Speaker 7 (01:05:40):
Want only the. INSIDE i want only like.

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
One year for my birthday on the road because they, know,
Like i'm not a big birthday.

Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
Guy WHEN i was out with the band one, YEAR
i walk.

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
OUT i will open up my bunk and the tour
bus THAT i was sleeping, in and all there was
on my pillow was a spoon and literally an entire
container of cream cheese Ice LIKE i just sat there
and ate that like it was ice cream for the.
Day LIKE I i.

Speaker 4 (01:06:03):
AM i low glad that everybody else gets to see
WHAT i. DID i know this for a, decade and
now now the world has to.

Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
Know your habits are.

Speaker 7 (01:06:14):
Disgusting lots of questions here we can talk about another.

Speaker 1 (01:06:17):
Day lots of. Questions that's, fair look. Biased trash cake
is better and cream sheese icing makes the whole world. Best,
okay these are, simple simple, things all. Right hear me.
Out He's Buck. Rising I'm jason fitzpuckingt fits On Fox Sports,
sunday hanging out On Fox Sports radio from the Ti
raq dot com. Studios hear me. OUT a free fall
sounds like a terrible thing for any of the players
in the. Draft but is? It and my argument is,

(01:06:39):
this there are two parts of it THAT i think are.
Important Number, one look at some of the teams that
are drafting later in the draft that might need a.
Quarterback New orleans Has Kellen, moore who is at least
at this point of respected offensive.

Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Mind we'll see what that looks.

Speaker 1 (01:06:52):
Like and a situation where whoever they draft gets time to,
develop presumably Under Derek, carr who might be, mediocrity but
he's at least locked in and for where he. Is
if you go further down the, draft Like pittsburgh needs a,
quarterback obviously you're going to an organization that's always nine and.
Eight The rams might be drafting for their, future but
you're Getting sean. McVay and then even if you go
in the top of the second round To Kevin, stefanski

(01:07:14):
who have a lot of respect for as a head,
coach or you, know if you Believe Brian dable can
be the answer at the top of the second. Round
what happens there is the expectations, Change like it is
not going to be If shador sanders his pick, second
it's not his fault that immediately he's the world sees
him differently than if he were to be picked let's
say thirty, third like so that's that's not his, fault

(01:07:36):
but nothing can be done to stop. It SO i think,
actually in a weird, way between the situation you, get the,
coaches you, get the patients you get from the fan,
base the understanding that you're coming in from a different.
Spot LIKE i genuinely believe a fall will help any
of the quarterbacks listed in this year's.

Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
DRAFT i think that the specific example that you cannot
use Is shador Because Shadoor sanders is going to have
some level of circus that comes with him no matter
where he gets, drafted and the organization that drafts the
son of Coach prime And Dion sanders and all the
things that come with, that Whether prime is going to

(01:08:13):
be heavily involved or, not AND i would expect him
to be. INVOLVED i know he's going to be Coaching colorado.
AGAIN i know he got a lucrative contract extension that
puts him makes him one of the highest paid coaches
in college, football deserved at this point for what he's
been able to do to turn around that. Program but
that is going to Follow Shador sanders wherever he. Goes
it's a talking point if you are an ownership group

(01:08:35):
that has a coach and a general. Manager the Draft Shaeddor,
sanders and the outcries for your veteran starting Quarterback derek
carrs of the world, right get louder and louder to
sit him on the bench when he does what he
does and lately is get hurt and be, mediocre though
he still had some moments, right just enough to keep
a coaching staff who may be trying to figure it,

(01:08:56):
out or a new coaching staff coming in to help
calm the waters of what a first TIME nfl job.
Is that's all well and good until we're six weeks
in And shador is sitting on the, bench and your
entire fan base and then your ownership group starts to, wonder,
well what the hell did we even draft this quarterback?
For AND i know any time that these quarterbacks get
to sit and wait and learn and have just some

(01:09:19):
degree of patience with them ultimately ends up being to their.
BENEFIT i know no situation is created, equal but for
the vast majority of these, GUYS i think it would
benefit them to not play right. Away except that's not
the reality that we live, in and owners are looking
as much at the financials of a cost effective quarterback
that you can build around to win now as they,

(01:09:40):
are whether that quarterback is even ready or.

Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Not.

Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
Fits so you make a really good, point and maybe you're.
Right Maybe schaudur is the great outlier to this. RULE
i do think it's. Important i'm going to Use Roma
dunze as account as a sort of add on point
to what you've talked, about Because rome drafted by The,
bears and then throughout the course of the year when

(01:10:04):
he wasn't getting the, ball it was not in comment
For rome's dad to go to social media and post
clips of things and, say look at how open my son.
Is it's not my fault quarterback can't get into the.

Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
Football that.

Speaker 1 (01:10:14):
Look stage moms happen, Everywhere stage dads happen. Everywhere like
we all know. That that's real.

Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
Fun, OKAY i still get calls from some of PLAYERS
i haven't covered for.

Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
Years, Really oh, YEAH i mean it's the thing.

Speaker 4 (01:10:28):
You forget about covering AN nfl locker room is you
also deal.

Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
With the parents at at a certain level, too.

Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
That, is and you you think about that magnified times a,
Thousand Like i've often said that part of the reason
we're obsessed With lebraun AND i think right. Wrongfully so
when it comes To bronni is some of the comments
that he made on social media about the greatness Of
Bronni and As i've said On Fox Sports radio, before
where that concept is broken to me is that, like,

(01:10:53):
okay what dad doesn't overestimate their son's athletic? Greatness like,
okay he's just being a, Dad, right what do you
do when that dad has? Amplification because if It's dion
And dion is feeling the same way That roma doone
say's dad is feeling he doesn't just go to social,
media he has a microphone every, day or if he,
doesn't he holds up press. CONFERENCE i, mean it's it's

(01:11:14):
it's going to be and he's going to be asked about.
It somebody is going to, ask, hey what do you
think you should do or be in benched this? Week
and all of a, Sudden dion's going to respond to,
it which is his. Right but ALSO i think you
do make a fair point that maybe that that makes
it impossible for him to live in the development oblivion
that you need to live in for the first couple
of years for, this And i'm talking About Jaylor Milroe,

(01:11:36):
quinn you weres sure and dart.

Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
LIKE i think also interesting That milroe accepted an invitation
to the draft In Green. Bay i'm curious as to
what's going on, there what he might be thinking at
this point in.

Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
TIME i must think he's going somewhere in the in
THIS i can't think he's going on the first can he.

Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
Just takes one. Thing that's what we're talking.

Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
About that is, okay that's that's. Wild it's wild to
think of it that, way and that's what makes this draft.
Proper it's particularly. Interesting we'll keep breaking down the. Draft
but it's a huge weekend in college. Sports, obviously we've
been talking about college, basketball and there's a very important.

Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
Rule everybody Says cinderellas are.

Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
Dead they. Aren't i'll tell you what. Mean, next it's
Fucking fits hanging out with you on A Fox Sports.

Speaker 4 (01:12:15):
Sunday his biggest mistake is thinking That i'd ever drink
out of a red solo. Coup welcome back To Fox Sports,
sunday and here On Fox Sports, Radio He's Jason, Fitz
I'm Buck. Rising we're hanging out here with you for
just a little while. Longer show is flying on by
from the ty rack Dot com, studios And fitzi's always

(01:12:38):
excited when he gets to find different ways to bother,
me is what we found out throughout the brief course
of our journey together here On Fox Sports. Radio and
he's come up with a conspiracy theory that he's, very
very proud. Of BUT i don't think it's because of
the annoyance factor that it. Brings this one's, legit you, say.

Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
Yeah, No so, Look i've actually got a legit theory
about the present and future of college. Basketball because everybody
right now wants to yell and scream about what's good
for the game. NOW i asked every coach in The final,
four every, player Because i'm down In San. ANTONIO i
asked every player what they think about these conversations About
cinderellas and number one, seeds and the stock answer from

(01:13:18):
everybody that what we wanted the best. Games AND i
think what we saw over the course of last, night for,
example was a good reminder that high level basketball from
four great teams that were Clearly number one throughout the
course of the. Year SO i was sitting, back you,
know at the end of the. NIGHT a couple of
nights ago might have been a couple of edibles in
AND i was just thinking about the, sport where it
is and where it's.

Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
Headed, okay and here's what hit. Me we Say cinderella's.

Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Are, Dead but what we've missed is that it's not
That cinderellas are. Dead it's just that they looked. Different
because now The cinderellas aren't the, teams they're the individual.
Players like as much as we sit here and we
talk about nil and so many people want to say
what's bad about nil for college, Basketball i'm sitting here
watching a kid From Morehead state is competing for a

(01:14:01):
College Basketball player of The year in. Jenniperlm not watching
transfer after transfer that played at smaller schools that are
getting the opportunity to live out their dream in a football,
stadium trying to play for a national. Championship and we've
turned it into. This, well all teams are doing is
just poaching the transfer portal to bring in one year
contracts to try and fill their teams with. Stars but

(01:14:22):
what we're forgetting is that we spent years falling in
love with the spirit of the mid.

Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
Major the spirit of the mid major still.

Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
Lives it just now lives in individuals who come from
those mid major programs and now have the chance to
make their mark in A final four that come from
opportunity that before might not have let them keep playing the.
Game look at how many graduate students are On houston's
roster that in so many other years wouldn't have been
keeping continuing. Playing but between THE nil and transfer, portal

(01:14:52):
it allows guys to come. Together it allows these teams
to create these, bonds and it allows The cinderella stories
of individuals to come together to create one shining moment
of basketball on the.

Speaker 4 (01:15:02):
Court but it was almost always individual moments that we're
just doing it at lesser profile institutions than they're able
to transfer. To, now do you know Who Mickey joseph, IS, Fitzi,
no he is The Grambling state football. Coach and there's
no real reason that you would have any knowledge Of Mickey.
Joseph he was THE lsu wide receiver coach for a.
While he was the interim head coach At nebraska for

(01:15:24):
a minute After Scott frost was. Fired but he brought
up an incredible point THAT i think speaks to the
issue that you're up.

Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
Against BECAUSE i support THAT i. Support i'm pro.

Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
Labor in this particular, situation in almost every, situation because
we all work for somebody at the end of the.

Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
Day more often than.

Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
Not the damage that the transfer portal AND nil leave
in their, wake, though there has to be some way
to balance it, out because you cannot outright rob these
smaller programs of having the opportunity to have A cinderella.
Moment you can't just treat them like a farm system
and then get nothing in. Return Mickey joseph went out

(01:16:02):
there the other, day it's about four days, ago and
he posed the question ABOUT nil.

Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
Buyouts there needs to be a.

Speaker 4 (01:16:08):
Buyout if they move up from me and go to
a group of five or power, FOUR i should get
compensation for that as a. PROGRAM, ncaa if you're, LISTENING
i need a. Buyout AND i think he's one hundred percent,
right because Those cinderella stories do, exist and they've always
existed to an extent with, individuals but they are so
problematic for so many different reasons at every level of.

Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
Basketball, YEAH i JUST i hear you on, That but to,
me at some, level let's go back To jeniprum this
year was a finalist for The College Basketball player of The, year,
right and everybody took note of what he did For
auburn through the tournament but also through the entire course
of the regular. Season all, Right, WELL i mean he

(01:16:48):
was first Team ALL Ovc Defensive player of The.

Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
Year he averaged.

Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
Sixteen point eight, points ten and a half boards in THE,
ovc and none of us. Noticed SO i hear you that.
Didn't cinderella has always have this opportunity these. Players but to,
me if a tree falls in the, forest no one
here's it doesn't.

Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
Make a sound that old.

Speaker 1 (01:17:03):
Adage if Jan I broom spends his whole life playing
in THE, obc to any of us, Care but he
uses the transfer portal and becomes The cinderella that we
should latch, To, like why can't we root for individual
success and make that the thing that really motivates us
instead of just Team cinderella?

Speaker 4 (01:17:18):
Moments now you, can but you have to have a
way to keep them bottom from falling out for a
lot of these other, programs because there's no other system
in the world that operates the way that the nil
transfer portal situation. Does where these schools get, nothing they
get nothing in, return not even a buyout of their current,
name image and likeness deals that they might have from bigger.
INSTITUTIONS i JUST i get what you're, saying but that

(01:17:39):
doesn't mean that there's not problems with.

Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
It, YEAH i think the other. Side we'll continue this
debate because it's interesting what it means for the future
of the. Sport on a weekend that we're looking at
a championship game that is going to be absolutely lights,
out the question, is how does college basketball make this
wild Wild west. WORK i think we might have a.
Solution bucking Fits Fox Sports. Sunday we'll keep breaking it.
Down it's a huge weekend for college basketball and we're

(01:18:04):
here to cover all of. It yukon Your Women's national
champions has us talking a lot about legacy And duke
not Your National champions has us talking a lot About
Cooper flag's. LEGACY i had to.

Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
Try out to do that to. Them they're they're already down.

Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
BAD i sent you the videos of The duke fans
watching From afar At, cameron just shattered and, broken watching
their team blow an improbable lead to The Houston, cougars
who just did not give up the. Fight but what
you got to take extra? Shots FOR i.

Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
Mean you want the he's buck, Rising I'm Jason. Fitzer
you want the honest answer to. THAT i want to
take you back to little fat. Me all, right little fat.
Me i'm, LIKE i don't, know, eleven twelve years, old, Whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
It's come up a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:18:43):
LATELY i, MEAN i think we're working through some therapy
stuff here With. Fitz it feels, like, YEAH i hate
THAT i was a.

Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
Fat, kid you, know, so little fat kid playing the.
Violin my childhood was everything you think it would. Be
but here's here's here's the PICTURE i would like to
paint you at that, time starting over on The East,
coast moved away From, vegas, madly, madly madly in love
with two teams in my, life one the loss or
the Then Los Angeles raiders that would later in my

(01:19:13):
life become The Oakland, raiders and number two THE unlv Running.
REBELS i used to go to games At thomas And
mack AND i Watched Larry, Johnson Stacy, Augman Greg anthony
win a national.

Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
CHAMPIONSHIP i had a scrap book as.

Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
A kid of all of the newspaper clippings and sports
illustrated articles OF u AND lv winning championship until the
next year WHEN i wasn't In vegas AND i watched that,
team AND i had, said Like vegas was life for,
me it was my connection to WHERE i was originally.
From was THAT unlv, team that UNDEFEATED unlv team that
was taken down in the final four By. Duke All,
RIGHT i got one video cassette my entire house and

(01:19:48):
it says ONE o three to seventy. Three all, right
that only cassette was from WHEN i was a, kid
AND i VIDEOTAPED unlv Beating duke for a national. Championship
only a year, later they ripped my hearts. Out SO
i AM i telling you, Honestly, Buck i'll be. REAL
i was sitting in the media, section which was right
behind The duke students at The, alamodome and the way
the stadium has, built The duke students had to walk
off the floor up through the media section to the

(01:20:11):
main concourse to, exit AND i watched a sea of
Painted dukies crying, tears, sobbing ugly crying as they walked
through medium AND i, Smiled i'm.

Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
Gonna, HONEST i smiled LIKE i sat there and you know,
what you know WHAT i know how that.

Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
Feels, Kids, OH i, know the most hated sports, team
one of the most hated sports team In, America, duke
even if this is a likable version Of duke And
shier And cooper and congin. It but, like it's a
really Likable duke. Team BUT i don't Care duke fans
getting their hearts ripped, out all? Right you, KNOW i
got little to no sympathy for the Crying.

Speaker 4 (01:20:44):
Dukies, No it's just the cruel part of, sports, right
because there are few things in the world that will
make you feel as viscerally as having a championship opportunity
ripped from your, clutches and few people have been as
close to it and expect to be as close to
it as The duke men's basketball. Program they are the

(01:21:05):
way that they are for a certain kind of. Reason
they are excellent across, decades across, generations and they ARGUABLY
i mean based on the Metrics. Finci that's why that's
what makes This Final four and ultimately This National championship
game so compelling to.

Speaker 3 (01:21:20):
Me and to talk about the end Of cinderellas or.

Speaker 4 (01:21:23):
Whatever i'm just looking for the best basketball games and
those are few and far between in the world of college,
basketball where you realize where you, know respectfully why a
lot of those guys aren't gonna go pro because it
has a certain level or lacking of skill in the
way that they go about, it whether it's the shooting
or the technique that they bring with their post moves

(01:21:43):
or whatever the case may, Be like it's a lesser
form of basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
For an obvious.

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
Reason not this, year whomever wins the national championship this,
year having gone through the final four number one seeds
that we saw and seeing the way that both of
these games played, out with the way that flo was
able to Outlast, auburn in the way That houston was
able to Undermine. Duke whether or not you want to
get into the officiating part of it is up for.
Debate there's always going to be those calls that you

(01:22:09):
can talk, about and certainly there was the one With
duke class night.

Speaker 1 (01:22:12):
Late, WELL i really didn't like that. Call you've mentioned
that call a couple of. Times did you really like
did that? CALL i mean in the, stadium in, fairness
they had it on the jumbo dron AND i looked
at it AND i, thought, ah it's, close but it
gets called ninety nine percent of the.

Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
Time did you not like the?

Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
CALL i understood the, CALL i didn't like the, Call
LIKE i can both understand it.

Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
And not like. IT i don't like any part of.

Speaker 4 (01:22:33):
These games where the officiating becomes too much of a talking,
point and that feels like maybe it's because it's an
easy thing to get upset, about but it's trickled into
sports talk or sports commentary in sports analysis entirely too,
much where we're just trying to figure, out all, right
how did you beat this team who could have been
better than you and was better than you for basically

(01:22:54):
the entirety of the game in the case Of duke
And houston. Yesterday BUT i JUST i look at this
and think of all the different things that sports brings
to the. Table there's nothing more meaningful than the gut
bunch you feel as a sports fan when your team
comes up just just.

Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
Short we're broadcasting laugh from the tyrack dot com studios
ty iraq dot. Com we help you get their unmatched,
selection fast free. Shipping free road has their protection over
ten thousand recommended. Installers tyrack dot Com the way tire
buying should. Be he's buck Rising I'm jason fitz hanging
out with you on A Fox Sports sunday On Fox
Sports radio And. Buck i'll add one element to why
this was heartbreaking because you could feel it in the

(01:23:32):
room when for, context this was the fifth largest deficit
ever overcome in A final four. Game fourteen points was
the largest deficit in this. Game but if you go
back to the last six and a half, Minutes duke
only got two field goal attempts up in the last
six and a half minutes, total two. Attempts i'm not
talking Makes houston started to shut it. Down but what

(01:23:54):
really became interesting, was you, know there was a illegal
there was a technical foul called on a illegal touch
On houston and they touched the ball when it was
still out of, bounds and that really felt like got
sealed the. Game and what was interesting at that point
is you can feel The duke crowds just getting That,
okay we, Survived we're, fine and even all the way
to the last. BUCKET i think one of the greatest

(01:24:17):
statements you can make about how Impactful Cooper flag has
been in college basketball is that sixty five thousand people
just figured he was going to make the game. Winner
like the minute he got the ball in his hands
and he got to that mid, range you just you're, like,
Well Cooper flag's gonna win the. Game this is. It
you can't Stop. Cooper like that speaks to how much
we expect From Cooper, flag but that also speaks to

(01:24:39):
the sheer, Heartbreak like the shock on fans From duke's
faces in the building was equally matched by genuine shock
From houston fans that were looking around, thinking oh my,
GOD i can't believe we just won that game like it.
Was it was such a stunning. Outcome and that's why
WHERE i, think even when you look, FORWARD i understand

(01:25:00):
that we want to, say, well there's still business to be.
Done let's remember the miracle on ice was not the
gold medal. Game That DUKE unlv game THAT i referenced
was not the. Championship it was the final, four, Right,
like there's still work to be done For. Houston and
it's interesting because they've got to take this incredible, moment
wrap it, up throw it, away and then start focusing
on how to get ready for A florida team that's

(01:25:22):
a matchup nightmare for. Him so it's wild that this
is going to linger in the hearts of college basketball fans. Forever,
Somehow houston's got to get it out of their minds right.

Speaker 4 (01:25:31):
Now and the question is Can houston handle the? Moment
AND i think this was a perfect example of Why
Kelvin sampson and these teams are so well equipped to do.

Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
Exactly that for all the reasons that you just light.

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
OUTFITS i mean That Cooper flag three pointer that gave
them what a nine point lead in the final couple of,
minutes when we felt pretty comfortable About houston's dream run
And Kelvin sampson's potential potential opportunity to be one of
these old head basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:25:58):
Coaches that's just. Right it was him And Bruce.

Speaker 4 (01:26:01):
Pearls they just felt due a national championship appearance at
the very. Least whether or not they felt due a
title is a different kind of. Conversation and for people
who pay attention to the win probabilities and things like
that throughout the course of the, Game duke had a
ninety five point five percent win probability after that three
pointer That flag made with three zero three. Left But

(01:26:23):
Kelvin sampson is one of the most stabilizing forces in
college basketball at every program that he's Been AND i
don't just say this as somebody who's a Slighted indiana
fan and for reasons that were illegal at the time
but feel a lot less serious, now would really Like
Kelvin sampson to still be coaching my basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
Program they just hung in.

Speaker 4 (01:26:46):
There they just understand how to stay the, course and
that veteran experience that you talk about mattering it in so.

Speaker 3 (01:26:53):
Many different ways that came to.

Speaker 4 (01:26:55):
Fruition there are plenty of teams who would have felt
overwhelmed having not had a lead until they.

Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
Ended up winning the game the way That houston. Did.

Speaker 4 (01:27:03):
Not This houston team not the way That Kelvin sampson
has constructed, them because the vast majority of people in
the country would not be able to name a player
on The houston basketball team prior to THE NC Doublea,
tournament and now he has these guys in The National
championship game because they were able to just stay the
course and overcome one of the things that we felt

(01:27:25):
like was the least able to overcome in THE NC Doublea,
tournament which is the best player in the sport this
year and the best program that we've, seen or one
of the best programs that we've, seen a true blue
blood in college basketball that doesn't seem like they're going
anywhere anytime, soon even though their legendary coach retired not
too long.

Speaker 1 (01:27:44):
Ago, YEAH i, Mean shiers replaced a. LEGEND i don't
know how you do, that but he's done it pretty.
WELL i mean it's. Incredible and you, know right Now
alabama football is turned around, saying wait a, minute how
do we do? That it's absolutely. Insane Kelvin sampson one
thing that stood. Out his team even acknowledged. This it
was R j that, said at one point it alarmed

(01:28:07):
him when he first started this, year Because, sampson if
you walked in and you didn't have the right body,
language you didn't have the right, energy you just didn't
have the right, attitude he.

Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Makes you, run he was.

Speaker 1 (01:28:17):
Saying so you'd walk in and you haven't even said a,
word and all of a, Sudden Calvin sampson is, LIKE
i don't like where your head's. At Run and so
there's this intensity To houston that's been born over that
being the process for a course of a. Year but
there were two moments in this game that we have
to give a lot of credit for. One AS i
just mentioned the technical foul of the player that committed.
It came over to the bench of The Verge tiers

(01:28:38):
and coach admitted after the game that he saw that
he was gonna have a, breakdown and he went over
and talked to. Him he's, like, hey it's gonna be.
Fine we're still gonna win this. Game he calmed down
the entire team after a catastrophic, error which is, huge
and then you got a player going to the.

Speaker 4 (01:28:52):
Line huge to be able to read the room that
way in such a high tension, Moment, Fitzy i'm, sorry go, Ahead,
no you're right.

Speaker 1 (01:28:59):
Percent and then you've got a sixty two percent free
throw shooter that's going to the line that needs to
make two free throws to win the. Game And sampson
said afterwards that they identified that his shooting wasn't good
his free throw shooting wasn't good enough this. Year so
at the end of every, day including, yesterday at the
end of every, practice he has to shoot one hundred
and fifty three he has to make one hundred and

(01:29:20):
fifty three throws at the end of every. Practice and
he said by the time they have hit this tournament.
Run in their, metrics he's shooting about eighty seven. Percent
and there was a moment for me whether sixty two
percent free throw shooter hit the first one and the
crowd's going, nuts and he calmed the crowd. Down he
did the hands down, like, hey.

Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
Y'all chill.

Speaker 1 (01:29:38):
OUT i got. This, everybody, relax. Man if that ain't,
coaching when a player that should be absolutely feeling the
pressure is telling the crowd and his teammates and his coaches,
RELAX i got. It that just speaks to what Makes
Colvin sampson. Great AND i don't know how this game's
going to turn, out but What i'm sure of, is,
MAN i don't want to take on This houston team
because even when they're not in, it they're still in.

Speaker 2 (01:29:59):
IT i will keep get it. Done He's Buck. Rising
I'm Jason.

Speaker 1 (01:30:01):

of the most crushing defeats that that proud program that

LIKE i think we all, know as a lifelong Dieheard raiders,
fan what my answer to this is going to be
we all know. This but here's the. THING i want
to paint a picture for.

Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
You.

Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
HERE i.

Speaker 1 (01:31:32):
Am i'm dating this, girl all, Right So i'm at
her parents'. House parents were, conservative you, know religious, folks
and they were proper. Folks. Right So i'm at this
girl's house and her parents were also you, know they
made it. Clear they actually literally told her once that
they didn't send her To nashville to meet a. Musician
they sent her To nashville to meet a. Doctor, Right, so,

(01:31:52):
LIKE i was definitely not the family's favorite for smart,
parents definitely for a myriad of. Reason she was a bandy. Girl.
Right so sit in the, House i'm watching two non
sports fans sitting next to, me And i'm watching The
tuck roll go. Down, now understand a couple of things
here as The tuck role. Happens, like her parents, again religious,
people so there's not going to be any, swearing and

(01:32:14):
just conservative people in, general like in the way they
act at. EVERYTHING i don't mean conservative in your beliefs
or religions or your. POLITICS i don't mean. THAT i
just mean like quiet. People.

Speaker 2 (01:32:23):
Right So i'm sitting.

Speaker 1 (01:32:24):
There AND i watched The tuck role, happen And i'm
looking around And i'm trying to figure out how to
properly react to the Rage i'm feeling to a rule
that none of us even knew existed being called in this.
Moment and this girl's mom looks at me and she's,
like and she said that there's not a word being
said in the. Room i'm doing my. Job i'm sitting
in the. Chair i'm not saying a. Word. Buck and

(01:32:45):
you know what she says to, me without me saying,
anything she just looks over and, SAYS i don't know
why it's such a big. Deal it's just a. GAME
i knew that that very. MINUTE i was, like my
relationship with this girl is. Done this is done BECAUSE
i can out looked this woman in the face LIKE
i cannot be part of this. Family there is no
way that this can ever have cooked at. Me she's,
LIKE i don't know what you're worried. About it's just a.

(01:33:06):
Game that was my that was My tuck rule. Memory
SO i don't know what what hurts more the fact
THAT i watched it. Happen Because i've seen so many
bad losses in my life THAT i can't figure out
how that. Happened but just to know THAT i saw
that one AND i couldn't a, proper properly mother effort
is something THAT i will never forget myself for looking.
BACK i should have just gone through all the rage

(01:33:26):
and turned their basement into my own like destruction, room
AND i would have felt much.

Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
Better those look like a lot of.

Speaker 4 (01:33:33):
Fun by the, way just the same way That Jason
fitz was able to calm the chaos that was raging
inside his body during The Tuck rule, game you can
calm the chaos with the shipping software that delivers use
Code sports for a free trial at shipstation dot. Com
that shipstation dot Com Code.

One it's like of all the things that somebody who
has no interest or no particular investment in a game
that you will are just living and dying over every,
snap every. Second it's so hard to. Hear, WELL i
don't know what the big deal is. About it's just
a game that there is no worse. FEELING i feel

(01:34:13):
LIKE i think you handled yourself very. WELL i am
surprised that you didn't take out a blunt object and
start smashing things in this family's living.

Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
Room i'm proud of. You that's.

Speaker 1 (01:34:23):
Growth i'm not gonna. Lie that was also pre anger.
Management so you, know, like, look this is a therapy
baby version of me, now Like i'm good with my
own feels back, then LIKE i you, know that was
back WHEN i like to rage a little bit and
you fight a little.

Speaker 2 (01:34:36):
Bit Now i'm a much calmer, person BUT i.

Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
Still it makes my. Blood, Boy you're not like you
think about the person that cuts you off in traffic
for like a month after they cut you off for,
traffic and thank, GOD i wish LIKE i think about
every TIME i think about The. Tucker WHAT'S i reminded?
About worst playoff, losses worst, game worst losses in the,
snow most Dramatic Tom brady, moments like EVERY nfl special
is meant to just kick me in the no no
play is over the tuck rule. Game and every TIME

a it's a tough, time BUT i have a good
time doing.

Speaker 1 (01:35:29):
It, well how old are you?

Speaker 3 (01:35:31):
Though share twenty? Five So i've there hasn't been one
good thing that's ever.

Speaker 12 (01:35:35):

Speaker 8 (01:42:07):
Fan so at LEAST i got that going for. Me
there's a the ONE i thought. Of, honestly it's like
it happened. Yesterday it was the NF Nfl Wildcard round
where The chargers were up what twenty seven at one
point against The, jaguars and then in the second half
they get three points and they lose thirty one to.

(01:42:31):
Thirty that was one of those LIKE i must have
been talking so much smack at the bar WHEREVER i
was watching.

Speaker 7 (01:42:38):
This and then to just walk away real. Humbled was
an experience.

Speaker 8 (01:42:44):
Like HOW i could not believe The chargers lost that.

Mean geez, gratus congratulations to, you because that's what you
that's the one when you have thirty thirty one to
thirty like, this that just.

Speaker 7 (01:43:11):
Gross it's just.

Speaker 4 (01:43:11):
Gross it still makes me question everything THAT i THOUGHT
i knew About Justin herbert because he choked like he really.

Speaker 3 (01:43:21):
Did that was.

Speaker 4 (01:43:22):
UNBELIEVABLE i was also watching that game on a phone
in a. Bar, yeah AND i could not BELIEVE i audibly, gasped.

Speaker 7 (01:43:31):
And you, know like it.

Speaker 8 (01:43:32):
Sucks is like it always goes back to that, moment
right like now when he, plays it's, Like, oh is
he gonna choke like he?

Speaker 7 (01:43:38):
Did or is he actually gonna pull this?

Speaker 8 (01:43:40):
Off and there are times where like you, like he
does kind of choke a little, bit a little, bit
but he's he's much.

Speaker 7 (01:43:46):
Better you, know this game past year.

Speaker 8 (01:43:48):
Against The bengals where they were up then The bengals
made a big, comeback but they held. On they beat The.
Bengals so like he he has made me feel. Better
but it definitely is a game THAT i will never.

Speaker 3 (01:43:59):
Forget i'll leave you with some.

Speaker 4 (01:44:02):
SCARS i am going to do this from the perspective
of games That i've, covered AND i have never seen
a more shell shocked fan. Base this was at the
end of the twenty twenty one. Season heading into twenty twenty.
Two it is The Divisional. Round the number one seed
in THE afc that year is the local professional football

(01:44:24):
team THAT i. Cover it's The Tennessee titans and they
are hosting in The Divisional. Round Joe burrow and The Cincinnati, bengals.

Speaker 3 (01:44:31):
Who are new on the. Scene they Sacked Joe burrow
throughout the course of that game nine. Times nine.

Speaker 4 (01:44:39):
Times it's a postseason record that they, tied they were
able to get to the, quarterback and they lost nineteen
to sixteen Because Ryan tannehill threw a interception on the
first offensive play of the. Game about halfway through the,
game he threw another interception on the goal, line and
then on the last offense possession with The titans trailing

(01:45:02):
nineteen to, sixteen he threw a third pick against The Cincinnati,
bengals who would then go on to play in The
Super bowl that. Year the one time That Joe burrow
has been able to get by The Kansas City. CHIEFS
i covered that game that day as a, reporter as
is my.

Speaker 3 (01:45:20):
Job Derrick henry back.

Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
From injury after getting a foot fracture in the middle
of that.

Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
Season Julio jones finally.

Speaker 4 (01:45:27):
Healthy happy retirement To Julio titans Legend Julio. JONES i
know we all think of him in that eleven jersey
here In national. Two he was here In, Nashville. TENNESSEE Aj,
brown who was still a member of The Tennessee titans
Before John robinson decided to light their future on fire
by trading him away that very NEXT nfl draft of
The Philadelphia, eagles where he has since won A Super bowl.

(01:45:49):
Championship that day The Tennessee titans franchise died was At
Nissan stadium in twenty twenty two against The Cincinnati. Bengals
AND i have never seen a fan base look more
like they got hit by a bomb Than titans fans that,
day who were feeling as good at that point in
the season as they ever have and had their hearts
taken out of their.

Speaker 1 (01:46:10):
Chest CAN i tell you that's only a week? AFTER
i remember WHERE i was standing watching The raiders play
The bengals in that rarest of all known as A
raiders playoff, game And Trek carr drove The raiders down
to fourth and goal and he threw the ball three
yards short of the end zone on the last play
of the game with just a bevy of. People it
wasn't like A i'm gonna throw somebody to make a.

(01:46:31):
Play it was, like, Now i'm gonna throw it to
this one person who's covered by six guys and just
see if he could be. Seen. Man, yeah, Oh Derek
carr got a Love, okay we got some tweets on.
It by the, way this one a little before my
memory on. It But Mike north tweeted and said To
paul had two first round losses when they were ranked
number one in the country in the early. EIGHTIES i
looked it. Up one of Them Saint john's in nineteen eighty,

(01:46:53):
one considered one of the best upsets IN ncaa. HISTORY i.

Speaker 3 (01:46:57):
Didn't, know so hate to be on the wrong side of.

Speaker 1 (01:46:59):
That, Yeah and Then sean points, OUT i think a
recent one all of us can just. Break my heart
breaks for thirteen seconds hurts the. Most, like if you're
A bills, fan you'll never forget thirteen. SECONDS i, mean
why missing appealable at the end of The Super bowl also?
Heartbreaking but you Had Patrick holmes and you had thirteen
seconds and you couldn't get it. Done that, asked, LIKE

(01:47:20):
i can't imagine how that one.

Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
Feels.

Speaker 4 (01:47:21):
Buck just being on the other end of that Entire
Chiefs bills experience seems so. Unpleasant bills, fans, man they
JUST i don't. KNOW i know some people have strong
opinions about. THEM i know that they're a bit raucous
for a lot of people's. TASTE i know that they
raise a lot of money for a lot of people's
charities after the fact to make up for some of that,

(01:47:41):
behavior or whatever the case might. Be but damned if
there's not as torture to fan base anywhere in THE.
Nfl AND i Know shan may argue with this as
A browns fan or A jets fan out there within
the sound of my, Voice but it would almost be
worse to be The. Bills to get that close consistently
and to just never be able to break it would
make me tear my hair.

Speaker 3 (01:48:01):
OUT i don't.

Speaker 1 (01:48:02):
Know this is WHERE i go back. TO i remember
when The raiders lost The Super, bowl AND i looked
at a buddy AND i, Said i'd rather not even
make the playoffs then keep losing this. Way they'd lost
TO syrahgusa and The ravens where their quarterback got knocked,
Out Rich ganna got knocked out at the beginning of the.

Speaker 2 (01:48:17):
Game they. Lost they were a great team that.

Speaker 1 (01:48:19):
Year they lose the tuck, rule they lose The Super,
bowl and their starting center goes a wall like it.

Speaker 2 (01:48:23):
Was three catastrophic losses.

Speaker 1 (01:48:25):
In a row in the playoffs for three great, teams
AND i looked at my buddy AND i, Said i'd
rather not even make the playoffs than lose this. Way
and THEN i watched my favorite team lose double digit
games for double digit years, consecutively AND i was, Like,
nope never. MIND i will never say that. Again as
heartbreaking as it is to fall short of the, goal,
man the worst thing in the WORLD i think for

(01:48:47):
football is to be a month and it realized that
you have no, hope like the rest of the month
is you spent all your waiting to get to this.
Season you're four weeks in and you're, like, yep we.
Suck so NOW i just sit here AND i, wait
AND i don't even want to WATCH tv On monday
because all they're gonna do is just remind me how
bad my team was On, sunday and we're gonna become a.
Joke LIKE i feel For bills, fans BUT i just remind,

(01:49:08):
you LIKE i think it's worse if you're at the
absolute bottom of the.

Speaker 2 (01:49:12):
Barrel jason points out.

Speaker 1 (01:49:13):
One and this is interesting to, me says My Michigan
wolverines versus App.

Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
State.

Speaker 1 (01:49:17):
No the hardest part about that is like when you
are the fan of the team that is constantly, like
that's a game that is celebrated for all that it
means for college. Football like so college Like Game day
plays it all the, time as the Big noon plays
it all the. Time is this, like oh my, god
look at how historic this wasn't how much it means
for the tiny guy and all? This oh my. God,

(01:49:41):
Yeah LIKE i can't imagine having the whole world just
constantly be like this is the best thing ever for college,
football be like up yours every every single, year every single.

Speaker 4 (01:49:48):
Time are you ready to Play America's Favorite?

Speaker 3 (01:49:51):
