Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Isn't here to stay.
That's coming right up. But first it's time to say
wake up, please, wake up, Yes, wake up America. That
that noise, I don't know what it is, but I
love that noise. Fox, what's Sunday? He's brying? Nough I
many firm a whip broadcasting live from the Farmer's Insurance.
(00:23):
Fox puts radio studios. When you switch to Farmer's Insurance,
you could save a bundle. All you have to do
is call one eight eight. Farmers get a quote today?
Are farmers all right? Here we go? Yes, this is
the time of day. I love. It's time to introduce
my partner, my friend, the brain to the office, the
guy who carries me for three hours every single solitary Sunday.
(00:46):
I love him. Can you let me give a chest bump?
He's the one, the only Mr Bregan No apple cinnamon,
apple cinnamon. Yeah, baby, you are fired up today, Andy Ferman,
I love this. Wants to talk about I love it
much madness? Yeah, yeah, they're there are sports to talk about. Yeah,
(01:06):
so I'm highly invested in the tournament. By the way,
shout out Spokane, Washington are six hundred affiliate. You're kidding
me in Fox Sports Radio. That's that's the six oh oh,
that's tremendous radio stations. Right, didn't have six hundred people
listening to me. Really, yeah, but they're all fired up, right.
(01:27):
First tournament win yesterday against a sixteen seed. They put
it on him too, man. I think that was if
I'm not mistaken, that's the highest score from a single team,
Is that not? We're Gonzaga. I didn't see anybody else
Kansas scored in the nineties, but I don't think anybody
else might I think, yeah, yeah, But Gonzaga. They're the
(01:49):
consensus right there, the team that most people think it's
gonna win the whole thing. Yeah, baby, I'll tell you
what this tournament. You know, if Ohio State didn't knock
you out of your brack it on Saturday on Friday
by losing to Old Roberts, then yesterday Abilene Christian gave
you the other double dose of it because they came back.
They upset number three seat Texas fifty three fifty two.
(02:11):
First NT double A tournament With victory for the Wildcats
of Abilene Christian, they just became eligible for the Big
Dance in eighteen they were transitioning from Division two to
Division one. It's amazing. And this kid, Joe, pleasant the
worst free throw shooter on the team, commonly goes to
the line with one point two seconds to go. I
mean really, it's like must see TV. I couldn't leave
the TV. Hit two free throws, hit the first one.
(02:34):
I didn't think he'd make them both. I really didn't.
And the Wildcats win. It's it's amazing, it really is. Yeah.
It's funny too, because there's a we have all of
our picks for the Fox Sports Radio Bracket Challenge, and
so Fox Sports Radio put together a graphic so it
has everybody's final four and then their championship winning team.
(02:58):
And I saw the affic and my picks aren't right.
They're wrong, Like they had me having Texas in the
final four, and that's not true. I went in that bracket.
I went with Alabama. So I don't know which. I
don't know what to do. Andy should I quote tweet
this and be like, hey, check out our picks. But
(03:19):
by the way, these are not by picks. What should
I do here? Changing they put my name on it? Okay,
all right? But yeah, I found that funny where I
glanced down and I'm like, all right, uh there I
am and tech Texas. I don't have Texas in the
final four. So Texas took it on the chin last night.
So if anybody looks at this graphic, they're gonna be like,
(03:39):
oh man, what's no doing taking hook them? I'm like,
I didn't. I didn't take hook him. You know, here's
a little nugget for four teams that are ranked thirteen
or higher. I now in the sweet sixteen. You know,
I don't know if that's good bid or indifferent, but
it's exciting. That's all I know. I mean, people are
gonna judge it. You know, they'll say, COVID this. See.
There's all I know. Is this to Lance escape right
(04:00):
now has been flattened. It's equal right now, it really is,
And I think it's great. I mean, there's so many
great collegiate players out there. You know, from one school
to another that basically one of two mistakes you're change
the outcome. And that's why when I watched that Old Roberts,
Ohio State game the other day, well Roberts didn't turn
the ball over and something like a turnovers the entire
game if you get sloppy with the basketball, you're gonna
(04:22):
lose and you gotta make shots. Okay, you know it's
I just think it's general, it's not specific. You can
say that about a bunch of teams. But yeah, how
about the the death threats? Though? For the Ohio State
head coach? That's crazy? What's wrong with people? Man? That's
a wild kid? E J. Liddell. I mean that's crazy.
I mean, why would you know? I touched on this.
(04:45):
I was talking to some friends about this yesterday as well.
And you know, you have to have some sort of
a weird mindset to want to do something like that.
Why you would do that? Why would you even put
your name to that? I mean, it can be traced
if it's on social media. I'm sure, all right, they
gonna change pack and finally who did it eventually. But
that's what I don't understand is you can't go to
(05:05):
someone in the street and say that. Why can't you
say it online and and get away with it. I
don't understand that at all. It happens a lot. There
was some maniac he got in trouble. He was I
think he was directing it at the Tampa Bay rays,
but he was sending messages to them and there were
death threats left and right, and he got in trouble
(05:26):
for it, but like I don't know that he got
in trouble trouble, you know, Like that stuff happens way
too often. I'll put it this way. The punishments aren't
put in place to discourage the wrongdoing, right, Like these
maniacs that go out there and i'll you know, fill
in the blank with some wild stuff if you don't
hit your free throws right, Like, there hasn't been enough
(05:48):
of It's almost the equivalent of running on the field
during the Super Bowl, you know what, Yeah, the streaker
and that, Like there isn't a punishment in place that
discourages the wrongdoing to the point where you're like, I
didn't do that, Like the penalty doesn't fit the crime.
There was no doubt really, you know. And this kid
E J. Ladell, who played for Ohio State, he got
one fan wrote to him on social media, quote, he
(06:11):
was such an e and disgrace. Don't ever show you
a face at Ohio State. We hate you. I hope
you die. I really do. Kids. It's a kid. The
twenty two year old kid. I mean really, And he
came back and he says, look, what did I do
to deserve this? I'm human? You think he did it
on purpose that they lost? I mean, it's a basketball game.
(06:33):
It's only a game. And the greatest thing was when
I was watching Charles Barkley List night and the at
the Half or whatever it was, and one of the
games on True TV. It took me seven hours to
find True TV. I can't even find it anymore, but
I never watch it. But he said something funny. You know,
this was after Virginia Commonwealth got eliminated because I had
to move on because at a COVID situation, and they
can play it's only a basketball game. We've got bigger
(06:55):
problems in this country. You know. People are out of work,
blues work, lose their job, can't eat, can't pay rent,
and we're worried about basketball games. Thank you, Charles, thank you. Well,
you're just an idiot, you know, if you do anything
like that, you're beyond a moron. You're just well, no, no,
I'm sorry. I should have been more specific with that,
but that goes well beyond being a hateful person. If
(07:16):
you fire off a tweet like that, even just I
hope you die is bad enough. But if you're threatening
to and if you need some assistance with that, I
can hook you up like you are absurd. But how
about that you touched on the Oregon VCU game that
was no contest because of the COVID situation with VCU.
(07:37):
We were kicking around this yesterday with uh I do
a show with the from Salam and I posed the question,
if this is the championship game. It's not in the
middle of of the tournament, right, it's the final game.
You could reschedule it if one of the teams can't play.
What would you do? Would you rather see the n
(07:58):
C Double A reschedule it or would you rather see
them do what they did with the Oregon VCU game
and say, hey, you can't make this date, you lose?
Right the other teams awarded the championship, Which would you
rather talk about the final two teams for the titler
on that? Okay, I would say this number one. I
think it would have to be a decision, probably made
(08:20):
by TV more so than the n C Double A,
because they want this game to be played. If it
was up to me, if I'm the chairman, if I'm
the guy who makes the call, you gotta play. Even
if you move it down to Thursday of Friday of
that week, you gotta play, especially after you've gone through.
Let's just keep our fingers and eyes crossed that there
are no more COVID situations between now and that final game.
(08:40):
I think it's a long haul and who knows what's
gonna happen. So if there's nothing happening between now in
the final game and the final game, there's a positive
you gotta move it down a little bit and let
them play maybe the following Saturday or whatever. You absolutely
reschedule it, right like, think of it this way. It
doesn't benefit anybody. It doesn't benefit the n c double
(09:02):
A obviously, right where they have TV contracts. It doesn't
benefit TV CBS. They paid billions of dollars for the tournament.
Doesn't benefit them. If there's no championship game, if it's
been canceled, right, it's been ruled to no contest, it
doesn't benefit the losing team, that's obvious. I don't think
it even benefits the winning team. You talk about the
(09:24):
most astrisk, you know, fake championship. Ever, it's gonna be
perceived like, oh yeah, that was the year that fill
in the blank won the tournament quote unquote, and they
didn't even play the championship game. It doesn't benefit anybody.
You gotta reschedule it. If this is the situation in
the championship game. But let's have an addendum to that.
(09:44):
What would happen now if then this God forbid? But please,
there's three, four or five more cancelations and they still
have the championship game. To me, the championship game really
and truly is questionable, then it's definitely questionable. Well, yes, true,
but you've gotta keep the train moving. I have no
problem with them ruling the Oregon VCU game a no
(10:06):
contest because it just doesn't work. It doesn't work to
make that game up because you're gonna have who knows,
it could take another week until VCU is cleared to play,
and then IOWA is supposed to play the winner of
that game, and then they're backed up, right, Like, how
do you fit in two games when you have to
(10:27):
delay well into next week when the winner of that
little mini bracket they've got to play the following week. Like,
there's really no way right now to suspend it and
make it back up, and you gotta keep moving on.
I just find it interesting. If this is the final
game of the season, this has done a championship game,
you gotta suspend it, you gotta you gotta make it
(10:48):
back up. You gotta postponent instead of canceling it. Yeah,
if you feel through a problem with some baseball list,
you with the short and schedule and people even crying
and yelling and screaming saying it's meaningless, you know, if
they have a cancel the final game at to me
is monumentally more so than baseball ever was. You gotta play.
But but here Andy, it's uh, I've heard this. There's
(11:08):
an obvious pushback of, oh, well, if my favorite team,
if you know, if they had if the main guy
had an ankle injury, like I guess we're supposed to
suspend that too, right, Like that's not even remotely close
to God. This is an act of God. There's an
ankle injury, a back injury, sprain, ankle le mean Lebron
(11:29):
yesterday at the high ankle sprain. That's that's part of
the game. When you put your uniform on. That could happen.
But this COVID the situation is an act of God.
It's a different situation. Yeah, it's Look, man, there's a
global pandemic. If you're the better part or most of
or your entire team is wiped out because of either
a positive test or contact tracing, you literally can't feel
(11:54):
the team, right, you don't have a team to take
the court. That is way different than a couple of
players being out because of injury. It's world's different. Exactly right,
you're exactly I'll tell you what. There's so much more
to continue with this basketball. I mean, I want to
talk to you about obviously, uh, the biggest problem with
the NT double A Tournament'm gonna get to that with you.
And also what about the Friday Saturday as opposed to
(12:17):
the Thursdays. We'll do that and so much more. And
of course we have our line up with the Bronx
talk radio bit with Chris p, the amazing Crisp that's
in this hour, our number two, Bonton Barrel betting, our
number three, a little bit of bits and pieces, and
of course you Brian Noah knows picks. I'm excited you've
got something like nine out of twelve or something like
that rolling now so you're hotter than a firecracker. So
we do that and so much more right here, And
(12:39):
you can get to us at the No Show on
Twitter and Oe Show at Andy Ferman FSR or eight
seven seven nine on Fox. That translates to eight seven
seven six three six nine. Now he may not have
to worry about a new team. We're gonna tell you
why next. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

(13:43):
and not playing. That's coming right up. It's about twenty
past the hour. This is Fox Sports Sunday. He's my partner,
he's my friend, He's Brian No, I'm Andy firma together
way here to entertain and inform you were live from
the Farmer's Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios call Farmers today
for a quote and be I tell you what, I'm
really surprised with this that the pack twelve in the
(14:03):
NT Double A tournament right now is five and oh
the pack twelve unreal and you just don't know what's
going on. You know, during the regular season, they come
alive right now. U c l A. I mean, I
know m cronin was upset that that had even play
Michigan State in that playing game, and now he comes
back and wins. Last night Beata b y U Team
b YU was snubbers six. I think they were ranked
six and uh as a seed and U c l
(14:25):
A was eleven. Yeah, I mean it's nice. It's a
good start, obviously, but we're way early on in this thing,
very early. Brian Finley, I know he was going nuts
about U c l A yesterday. I can just imagine
some tiger woods like fist pumps and go bruins and
there were a few of those. I saw a video
of of Brian Finley taking great exception to Seth Davis,
(14:49):
the so called expert, not having U c l A
in his bracket. He took great exception to that, you know,
So I know that Brian Finley was on the prowl
if there were any experts or picks that didn't have
his bruins damn, Like advancing to the stage they've gotten
to heat has a detailed list. You ever see the
(15:10):
movie kill Bill where Uma Thurman has the list and
she's crossing people off and she takes them down, Like
that's basically Brian Finley with anybody who didn't have U
c l A in their bracket advancing to this stage.
And and that's the problem with many people because I
think they picked their brackets with their heart now with
their head, and that's fine, that's okay. But and there
are some people that have thirty seven brackets, so who
(15:31):
knows how guy says, hey, look I want well yeah,
well that's one out of thirty seven. So no, But
here's the big question. And I really hate to put
you on the spot because I love you to death,
I really do, But what was the last time you
watch True TV? And where is it? That's that's my
problem because when the tournament starts, when I said, oh
my goodness, True TV, where is it? And I got
Direct TV in my home and I got Spectrum TV
in my home, and and both of them, I gotta
(15:53):
go crazy. I wanted the computer to find out what
number True TV is. I think there's two forty six
on Direct TV right now. Yeah, I have Exfinity, you know, Comcast,
and it's right there. It's right next to t N
T TBS, so it's seven fifty one. It's True TV.
And could you name a program on True TV besides
(16:14):
the basketball game. I think they're fond of Impractical Jokers,
which is a funny show. But yeah, I have seen that. Yeah.
I don't watch a whole lot of True TV. I
every year I'm like, wait, what channel is that? And
it's pretty easy to find them, like oh wow, it's
right there. I didn't even realize the TV. I have
to check it out. I wonder what else they have
on there. I'm sure they have a couple of but
I got some promos now about their new shows coming
(16:36):
on the splash. I think it's gonna be on the
now keep us seeing the promo. Let let's talk about
the tourney format right now, because I guess a lot
of people are upset there not playing on Thursday, because
a lot of people used to take Thursday or from
work and now you're not doing that. But I like
this format. I like the Friday, Saturday, Sunday Monday deal.
I really do. And uh, it's more condensed than I
think it's gonna stick with it. I think this is
(16:56):
gonna be something that's gonna be moving on to the future.
I don't like it. So we have games on Monday now,
is that correct? We've got friends tomorrow. I think they're
at games Monday, aren't there? No, I don't even know it.
Didn't they just shift it over one day? Yeah? Right?
Isn't it that it's gotta be. I don't like it.
(17:17):
I like the old way. I like Thursday through Sunday. Um,
you don't. I would imagine is this all because the pandemic?
Is this why they shifted it over. I think there'll
be a complete coincidence if it wasn't based and I
think it is, And uh, you know, really and truly,
I mean, I hope it works for their sake, But
other sports have made changes. We saw that with the
(17:37):
bubble with the NBA, and Baseball obviously added another team
for in their playoff format. So I think changes is inevitable.
But I mean, it happens. Is it good, is it bad?
I don't know. I gotta get used to it. I mean,
why why? Like I just like that they play. I
don't like the fact that I have to wait an
extra day. I don't like that. But I do know
(17:57):
if I was working to night the five job, I
would like it because I would take off. You'll have
to do it on Monday. That's what I don't get right, Like,
is this based on not having to take the day off? Like,
are the games I'll put it this way, on Monday?
Are the games staggered a little bit later in the
(18:17):
day where if you're working a normal nine to five,
then you would see a bulk of the games in
prime time? Like, unless that's the situation, it doesn't make
sense to me because if you're a junkie and you
want to see these games, well, you're gonna have to
take off Monday to see the games, as opposed to
taking off Thursday to see four days instead of Thursday, Sunday,
(18:40):
it's Friday, Monday. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to me.
I don't I don't get it. I don't understand why
they're doing this. Like I understand you can maybe switch
and just because it's been done a certain way for
a long time doesn't mean that's the best way of
doing it. So I'm open to changing things, but this
doesn't seem to make sense. If you're changing it, it's
got to make logical sense. This doesn't make sense to me. Well,
(19:03):
our executive produce a bow benchances to me over a
ninth to seven Could you expound upon that bow that
nine am to seven pm? Can you help me out here? Yeah? Sure,
there's uh I mean, you know, according to a game
at nine o'clock in the morning, yeah, West no Western time,
Western time, so noon, but we're waking up at six am.
(19:23):
There are there are there are games on Monday though.
You've got Oklahoma and Gonzaga Oregon Iowa. Umm, so like
what what was the difference? Yeah? I don't understand. And
then so the last one, I'll start at Eastern thumbs down,
(19:47):
thumbs down on the new staggered format. So so people
will instead of taking off work on Thursday. They'll take
off work on Monday, which would make anyway. It doesn't
accomplish anything. I don't understand that either. I really don't.
It's amazing. I just you know, I get I'd like
to find that. And really, I don't think anybody really
delved into the situation for the chain. I didn't see
(20:08):
any real explanation of you. It was just no, yeah,
I'm sure there is one. There has to be one.
That better be one we want to find out. We'll
find that out. Okay, here's something I didn't want to
get into because I kind of like this guy. I
never met him, but DeShawn Watson. I mean, what's now
the twelve women allegedly complaining on this guy that sexual assault.
(20:30):
You know, this is a guy that wanted to leave Houston.
I think now there's a group of people in the
city of Houston maybe want to see him leave. I mean,
I don't understand how how does this happen? Really? Well? Listen, first, thanks, First,
these are allegations. They are very serious allegations where there
are many women we've had We're up to almost twelve
(20:52):
lawsuits now. It's hard to keep tracks. Seriously and that
is not to be flipping about this whole situation, but
it is hard. It's hard to track of how many
lawsuits currently there are because this Houston attorney Tony Buzzby,
he says that we're nearing twelve lawsuits and there are
more than ten additional women who have similar complaints with
(21:15):
Deshaun Watson, the Texans quarterback, with sexual assault or inappropriate behavior.
This is all based on masseuses and he'll make some
inappropriate comments and say, hey, I got an area that
needs massaging, and the masseus is like, whoa, this isn't
part of the deal. Here's a It's obviously a very
very serious thing. So look, man, it's a tough conversation
(21:39):
to have because I look at it like this, If
these allegations are true, that is a big part, because
I don't know one way or the other. If these
are true, what are you doing, dude? Like this guy
is worth many millions of dollars, it's a good looking guy,
and what like you gotta resort to something like this
is your game that week? Like, seriously, what are you doing?
(22:02):
If this is even halfway true? But you would think
that if he's going to these massage holes whatever. Well
he's no, he's contacting these women on Instagram. He's contacting
masseuses and saying, hey, al right, uh my shoulder, I
could use to my house to come into his home. Well,
not necessarily, but they make an appointment, they figure out
(22:23):
where they're meeting, and then they meet up for the massage.
And you would think there'd be some sort of tape somewhere.
If there's twelve women involved, one of them would at
least have taped. I would think, I mean, I want
to say that, why would you think that? I think
you don't know how often Seriously, if if there's a
massage therapist and we're talking professional masseuses, right, there's no
(22:45):
like hanky panky going on here, right, this is your job.
This is your cheap massage down the street, right, Like
because of this storyline, things might change. You might have
more masseuses us for their protection. Like, hey, I'm you know,
recording this right now, so act accordingly, right, But I
(23:06):
don't if you aren't doing that. If you aren't okay,
um hi Mr Watson or high client, Like I'm just
setting up this camera right here. Just if you don't
have that, Like what proof do you have. That's the
whole thing that blows my mind is something inappropriate could
have gone down, but you've got to be able to
prove it. And that's a hard thing to prove if
(23:28):
you don't have actual evidence that this happened. But the
sad thing is, even if it's no proof to have
his his reputation right now is somewhat tarnished. I would
think that his trade value, someone's gonna say, I'm not
touching him. I want to see what the NFL is
gonna do. So even if he wanted to be traded
or he's on the trading block, I think a lot
of these teams are gonna shy away because I don't
(23:48):
know what the future may bring with them. It's tough
because I don't know what happened, what didn't I know
that the more lawsuits that come out, the more smoke
there is, and when there's more more smoke, it's it's
hard to see that there's just no fire whatsoever. So
I don't know that. It just gets harder to believe
(24:10):
DeShawn saying, Oh, I've only treated women with the utmost
of respect, and it's just like we're we're nearing like
what twenty plus lawsuits if all these women who have complaints,
if they file, that has a lot of smoke man
for there to be no fire whatsoever. But I also
look at it where well, I I don't if why
(24:34):
that's all based on if he's innocent, which we don't know.
If he's innocent, yes, I feel badly for him. If
he's guilty, badly for him at all. You know. So
I just don't know. I don't know if there's no proof,
it's it's just word of mouth. Really, But to have
twelves like you say, you know, smoking fire but still
at all, I just wow, Give me some proof, give
(24:58):
me evidence. And last thing I'll say real fast is
stick with what you know. What I know is this.
I think it doesn't make any sense whatsoever for anybody
to act like they personally notice Shaun Watson or any
player when they don't, because you'll get a lot of fans,
will get some media people that are like not the Sean.
It's like, have you talked to this guy ever in
(25:19):
real life? What do you know personally about not not
just him but any athlete? Right? Like I think of
remember Meyers Leonard with the anti Semitic slur recently. If
there were, there was no proof. That was just an allegation, like, hey,
he was live streaming a game. Someone alleges that he
used this anti semitic slur. There are a lot of
(25:41):
people that would say, not Meyers Leonard, He's a classy guy,
like he's done so much for his community and YadA YadA,
and he was guilty as since. So I don't think
it makes any sense to act like you have a
personal relationship with one of these players when you don't.
But there are a lot of fans that just blindly
not him. No, what it's like, you don't even know
the guy. Why would you say that. That's a great point.
(26:03):
He's Brian. Noha'm Andy Furman. This is Fox Sports Sunday
on Fox puts ready, and there'll be no competing for
this spot. That's next, and no one will ever compete
for Brian Fentley spot either. He's next with the latest.
Thank you so much, Andy and and Brian third seeded Texas,
belching out twenty three turnovers and dissolving in the first
round of the n C Double A Tournament on Saturday,
(26:24):
as fourteen seeded Avallee and Christian from West Texas, cramping
the long Orangs fifty three to fifty two. Texas head
coach Chaka Smart acknowled acknowledging a very sullen atmosphere around
his team after the game. A lot of tears in
the locker room right now. I thought, coming into this tournament,
the way that they handled all the things that we're
(26:46):
throwing our way all year long, it was just phenomenal.
They really stayed together. Shaka is now one in three
all time in three n C Double A tournament appearances
as head coach for you two. Meanwhile, u c l
A fracturing b y U seventy three to sixty two
as Johnny Choosing thrives on the court with twenty seven points.
(27:09):
Oregon darts to the round of thirty two after their
first round opponent of v c U was disqualified with
COVID nineteen positives. Number one seeded Gonzaga vexing Norfolk State
to fifty five Oklahoma bruising Missouri seventy two to sixty
eight with twenty three points coming from Austin Reeves. Thirteen
seeded Ohio takes a power drill to Virginia's sixty two
(27:31):
to fifty eight the Calves, losing the round of sixty
four for the second time in four years. Two seeded
Iowa drops a piano on Grand Canyon eight six to
seventy four Luca Garza with twenty four points. Also USC Alabama, Colorado,
Florida State, Kansas, l s U Cradon and Michigan were
winners on Saturday. In the NBA, Lebron James of the
(27:54):
Lakers suffered a high ankle sprain and he will be
out an undetermined amount of time. His squad fell, they
face planted to the Hawks, and the Grizzlies capture the
win over the Warriors one eleven to one oh three,
but Golden State was without the services of Steph Curry
as he was dealing with a bruised teal bowen. As
(28:15):
I send it back to Brian no and my father
Andy Furman, who was very jealous that mc cronin is
no longer and since but leading U c l A
to victory after victory in the NT double A tournament
for U c l A, you know you're exactly right
for the first time in your life. Really, I am jealous.
I wish, I wish Micronin wasn't Cincinnati. I'm not the
only one. I think tons of other people would love
(28:36):
to see him here as well. So we move on.
We'll see in an hour. Thank you so much. This
is a pretty sweet guarantee. But why we'll explain that
in just about a minute. He is Brian Nohm, Andy Ferman,
and welcome back everybody to the Farmer's Insurance. Fox Sports
Radio Studios called one eight eight eight farmers to switch
and you could save a bundle on your auto insurance. Interesting,
be very interesting. Right now, football to will be up
(28:56):
Bronx Talk Radio, and about six minutes from now, Andy
Dalton goes to the Chicago Bears. Bears made a tremendous package,
we understand to Seattle Russell, but Russell Wilson, that is.
But you know, now Andy Dalton comes, but he's been
promised a starting job. So it looks like there's not
gonna be any quarterback competition whatsoever, because the job is
Andy Dalton's anything like that. Who is your boy? Nick Fools?
(29:17):
I mean falls, he's still there, but he's Fools Gold.
So you know, he's striking a lot of people into
believing is the franchise quarterback when he never was. And
so I guess Nick fools gonna be backing up Andy Dalton.
Oh my gosh, I feel badly for Bears fans, but
I'm not shocked whatsoever that Russell Wilson is not going
(29:39):
to the Bears. You know what's funny is a lot
of people, when these deals are discussed, they look at
it just for the team that's trading for Russell Wilson.
It makes all the sense in the world for the Bears,
even if they have to give up a boatload to
get Russell Wilson. How does it benefit the Seahawks exactly?
If you do the math on this, where Okay, the
(30:01):
Bears they've got the twentieth overall pick this year. So
if that's one of the many picks that you're sending
to Seattle, will you put Russell Wilson on a Bears
team that was in the playoffs in eight and eight
last year? Guess what those future picks are gonna be
even lower than twenty most likely, So how does that
benefit you if you're the Seahawks. I just a lot
(30:23):
of these rumors don't make any sense for the Seahawks
where they have to get a legitimate quarterback in return
or be in position to take one in the draft.
And if this bundle of of draft picks don't get
you there in prime territory for one of these top
end prospects, Like why why would you do it? Why
(30:43):
would you do it? If you're Seattle? That doesn't make sense. Well,
sometimes you have to do it to clear that cap room.
But Chicago, obviously, according to publish reports, that had a
trade package that included three first round picks, one third
round pick, and two starting players. So we'll see what happened.
What does that mean though? Clear the cap? Him? Who
are you? What are you applying that to? An other words,
you've got to get some room. You're over the cap.
(31:04):
You want to get rid of some salary for who.
That's why a trade has been made of times. I
don't know in this situation. I don't know what the
cap is on either team. But still the Seahawks, not
only would they be getting lower first round picks back,
there's dead money you get collaborate, there's thirty nine million
dollars in dead cap money. Like why why would you
(31:24):
make a deal with the Bears? Okay, you get a
couple of players that are known commodities back in a
bunch of you know, picks in the twenties, like why
why is that a sexy deal for the Seahawks and
the dead dead cap money on top, It makes no
sense for the Seahawks unless you know Russell Wilson. It's
just a matter of time until he's like, trade me.
(31:45):
He's gonna pull a fold Deshaun Watson and say I
want out trade me. That's the only way it would
begin to Well. He has gone public with two potential
teams he wanted to play for. He said Denver in
San Francisco, which he hadn't done in the past. So
he has ready point pointed to two teams he'd like
to go to. But that's the sea we're talking Russell here,
right Like, Russell has not said I think trade me. No,
(32:05):
he hasn't. He has not. He had a list of
four teams that he's open should there be a deal
made like that he's willing to go to. That's as
far as he's gone. He has not said, like the
Sewan trade me, I'm done playing. He never said trade
But I do believe that Russell and I had read
this that he said that two teams he'd like to
go to if possible, would be Denver in San Francisco.
(32:26):
That's untrue. That's the Sewan Watson Sean had the Jets
is one of his teams well early on, that was
the report. That's not but that's neither here nor there
because this trade has not been made. But I'm more
concerned that Andy Dwalton going and getting a starting job.
And I understand why because the offensive accord and Bill
Laser of the Bears worked with Andy Dalton in seventeen
(32:49):
and eighteen and Cincinnati's the offensive coordinated which really I'm
not so certain Laser had a lot of success in Cincinnati.
He was let go man you put for the Bears.
This is rough the fan base who they've been. The
Bears been looking for a franchise quarterback forever, right since
the thirties. And that's like like the Bear down Chicago
(33:11):
Bears that song once they score a touchdown, and you've
ever listened to the lyrics of that song where it's like,
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with
your T formation, right, think about that. The T formation
goes back to the Sid Luckman days in the thirties,
like they've still been looking for a franchise quarterback. So
I understand why they would set their sights on Russell Wilson,
(33:32):
but to be pursuing him and to end up with
Andy Dalton, Baby, that's like it's like shooting your shot
with a a famous woman like j Lo or someone
like that, and instead you end up with like a
bag of Cheetos. Like that's basically what they did. They're like,
I'm gonna shoot my shot here Jennifer Lawrence, She's unbelievable,
(33:54):
and would you like to go out with me? And
you ended up with a bag of funyans with Andy Dalton.
That is brutal for the Bears. We're than that. I mean,
it's teasing the fan base because for several weeks, the
Bears are going out there throwing out these potential packages
for Russell Wilson, and if I'm a Bears fan, my
tongue is hanging out, wow, Russell Wilson, and the media
is going, I mean, why tease the fan Now it's Wilson,
(34:18):
but still push. I get why you would make a
push push, but the way they went public with it,
it was almost like, Wow, it's gonna happen. I mean,
and now they let the air out of the balloon.
I mean, it was really bigger than life the way
it was. I mean, there are other rumors that go
around that could have just said, hey, we're looking we're
looking for a quarterback and it's gonna be insanely difficult
(34:40):
for this not to leak. I'm not saying not leaking,
but the way it was late there was like, Wow,
this is the specifics of the deal. I mean, you
hear leaks that, hey, look there's a league yesterday that
the coach at the Boston Celtics go back and be
coaching Indiana Boom. They didn't say why, how much whatever,
how many years? They just throw his name out there,
and that happens all the time. These were specifics in
(35:01):
this deal that the Bears were gonna give up x
x X and Seattle is gonna do this, and wow,
I mean, if I'm a Bears fan, I'm read up
in my season tickets tomorrow. Okay, I don't understand why
you're taking the Bears to task. Of course they would
try to make a push to get Russell for them.
It stinks that they didn't land them, but you're calling
them out for even making a push. That makes zero
(35:24):
sense to me, not for the push, but the the
actual hype of the push, which really let me down.
If I'm a Bears fan, I get I don't get
any of that. Good luck for this to be just
a conversation between you and the Seahawks, nobody really catches
a whiff of what's going on. Like did you see
the TV money? Like the media rights deals over eleven years,
(35:49):
it's a hundred and ten billion dollars. Why is that?
Because the ratings are through the roof? Why are the
ratings through the roof? Because the interest is through the roof.
So what happens? You rarely get discussions about a deal
involving a player like Russell Wilson for the compensation the
Bears were willing to part with, and it doesn't make
(36:09):
it public whatsoever, right, Like, it just stays between you
and that team. There's a conversation, no one knows anything
about it. Good luck in this day and age with
as much interest and as much of a thirst for
news like this that there is, Like, you're not gonna
keep that under wraps? Man? Are you okay? Okay? We
move on? Briano, Andy Ferman, Fox Sports on Fox Bolts Radio.
(36:33):
It is time to yell and scream, and there's no
better place to do it then here Why Bronx Talk Radio.
It's freaking next Bronx Talk Radio right around the bend,
about ten minutes before the top of the hour. He's
probably nohm Andy Ferman and we are live from the
Farmer's Insurance Fox Spots radio studios called one eight eight
eight Farmers And you could save a whole lot of
(36:53):
something on auto insurance. Well, let's go to the products
guys in time to channel. You're inner New York. Here
we want to hear all the rationalities you can spew
on the hottest topics of the day. Here's something we
(37:15):
like to call Bronx Talk Radio. Posted by the Great CRISPYEO.
I don't know much about freaking Kenny g himself. I
know about freaking Kenny G. If you know what I mean,
Kenny freaking Gala Day, come into the Bronx coming to
New York. The giants. Are you like that? I like
it a lot. I got a target now, they finally
got a target. Freaking dimes over here, He's gonna get
(37:37):
a deep ball threat. How Yeah. Four years seventy two million.
He's gonna get eighteen million the first year. But that's fine,
you gotta he's gonna he's a big time receiver. What
do you want. It's a lot of cash, free agent receivers.
You're just gonna keep saying that over and over. You
got a lot of cash, A lot of cash. Yeah,
(37:58):
it's a lot of cash for that guy. Well, what
do you want. It's a lot of freaking cash that
could have deckam No, they couldn't have Oh hell back
three teams ago. What are you talking about? No, they
a lot of money, but they're gonna be not the
precious on the QB. Let's see what he could do. Now,
let's see, let's actually see what some Danny Dimes can
(38:20):
do over that could be a nice freaking offense, though,
Kenny g Danny Dimes, se Quon Barkley, don't hold your
breath for Danny Dimes over there. He was like PF
gave him a great freaking grade over here. What do
you want? Danny Dimes? Stinks? Listen to you all right?
Speaking of stinks over here, I ownA wait a minute.
(38:41):
If you want to Chicago Bears, you want Danny Dimes?
Randy Dalton I take Danny Dimes. How's that? Yeah, I'd
take Danny Dimes. Wow, that's a ringing endorsement over there.
You take him over just not a freaking high bar
I'll get. I'm gonna give you that. So Ionna got
bounced from the freaking tournament. But Rick Mattino says he's
here to stay for the gals. No big program for
him him. Uh, you know he's in heaven. Would you
(39:02):
believe him? Normally I'd say he's full of it, but
he's not. I think this is it. His next stop
is gonna be Florida when he retires, that's it. Yeah.
I don't think he's going nowhere, But I'm I don't
believe him in this is heaven. Okay, that's going a
little bit too far. Where where is Iona again? And
freaking up Petriot? That's that's not heaven. That's that's not heaven. No,
(39:23):
maybe that's like purgatory over there. You know it's not bad,
It's okay, Yeah, but I will say this, he's saying that,
but us no one else will touch him. That's why
listen to you, all right? You think he's gonna get
off this? Maybe I don't know. I don't think. Yeah,
So anyway, we had a really weird incident in the
world of baseball. It's spring training, but some guys came
(39:44):
a little too prepared for spring training. As a man
coming back from Arizona was held up in Eagle County,
Colorado with a he So this guy, let me get
his name here, Chicago Cubs, uh pros at Camargo. He's
freaking coming back and he's got like twenty one pounds
(40:06):
of meth in his freaking equipment bag. Yeah, an oxy cotton.
What do you like? What do you need all that for? Huh? What?
It supposed to be the high A but I didn't
know how high he's going to be. Listen to you.
You're making some freaking buns over here. I will. How
about this, let's consider this is meth the new pine talk?
(40:27):
How about that? I don't know. Maybe that's what probably
more affordable than pine talk. What are you getting on
the floor? Highly illegal? You know? Yeah, it's a highly
highly illegally cat only if he's been doing it on
listen listen low a baseball doesn't really pay that much,
you know, So I get it. I get it. Well,
(40:48):
last story for the day before we get out of
your Twitter was banning a lot of people this week
for twelve hour suspensions for anyone who posted the word Memphis.
What just a bug in this him? I try saying Memphis, Brian. No,
I don't want to get a blow. I don't want
to get thrown off a Twitter over there. All you
(41:11):
need is an atlas. We'll explain that next. But first, first,
let me tell you it's time to wake up. Wake
up America. Wake up for a dollar. Oh my goodness,
come on, wake up. Give me a good eight clean car.
That's even better. All right, he's probably no Mandy firm.
(41:32):
This is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Posts Radio. We're
broadcasting live from the Farmer's Insurance Fox Posts Radio Studios
called one eight eight Farmers to switch and you can
save an average of four hundred and seventy bucks on
auto insurance. That's a lot of money for a quick
phone quote, don't you think average Nationwide annual Savings Survey
data July to December twenty twenty. Yes, and now it
(41:56):
is that time to roll out the red carpet. My partner,
my and the brains of the office, the nain who
carries me every Sunday for three hours. His back must
be brutal. Yes, the one, the only Mr Brian Hello,
that was as affordable as it is. What's going on?
Andy Ferman? You hello, b How are you be? What's up?
(42:17):
I'm good man, It's you know, just assume I'm good.
It's almost like, you know, I like the callers in
sports radio. They're like, hey, guys, are we doing first time? Still? Good? Good?
Just assume I was good. Last hour, I'm good. This hour,
I'll be good. The next hour good, good, good, that's good.
You know what's good? The NT double a tournament, that's great.
Tell you what I want to know what you were
doing when you watched All Roberts put Ohio State down
(42:41):
on Friday? What were you doing? And your reaction, of course, well,
I was watching my TV is what I was doing.
And um listen, um oral Roberts. They played well down
the stretch, and you know, it's it's always exciting to
see those huge ups sets right where there are we're approaching?
(43:03):
Are we close to double digits with fifteens over twos
over the years, Like we gotta be in the territory
of that. But they showed a graphic during that game
and it it brings you back. I always remember you
probably remember this too, remember when Richmond one as a
fifteen seed, and I'll never forget a player picking up
(43:23):
the head coach and he was kind of like a cockroach,
like his legs were still running in motion as he
was being held up. Do you remember that, Like I
always remember the Richmond head coach being propped up that way.
But you remember those moments of the like le High
with C. J. McCollum and Duke going down, and those
are huge upsets. It's funny because I get all these
(43:47):
emails in my inbox, Andy, and uh, for whatever reason,
I can't just delete him and be like, ah, that's old.
I still go back and I read him. I still
try to clean it out. And it was maybe a
day after the the fifteen seed in Oral Roberts one,
and it was just doing a real quick like dues
and don't so filling out your bracket, and one was
(44:08):
like stay away from fifteen seeds and sixteen seeds like
don't even go down that road. And I was like,
well that didn't work out because we had one of
those major upsets this year as well. Okay, the question
is can all Roberts. Can they expect a miracle today
against the Gators of Florida, Well, listen, expect a miracle.
That should tell you something right there, right like it's
(44:30):
it's hard to expect miracles. I don't think it would
take a miracle to beat Florida, but I'm expecting Florida
to win. Actually, give me a little bit of props here, Andy,
I had Florida advancing to the Sweet sixteen. So this
upset of Oral Roberts could be very good, very good
for my bracket over here. You know, I thought a
lot of people had North Carolina over Wisconsin. I did
(44:51):
have Wisconsin. I I'm afraid to look at the rest
of my bracket, but I know I had Wisconsin moving
on because I thought they were a better team. I
thought North Carolina had the height, they had the length,
but I didn't think they were gonna be Wisconsin. So
I take that one. But other than that, what about
Ohio the bob Cats, the Bob Cats of Ohio Universality
taking down Virginia. That was something as well. I'm just
(45:12):
you know, I love these really well. The thing is
with that one with Virginia, and they were impacted by COVID.
That was a big deal for them. I believe they
arrived just a day before that game. And look for
the Ohio fan base over there, you know, shout out
to your Bobcats. I'm not saying this is complete bs,
I'm just saying it impacted the game. We even had
(45:34):
our update anchor, our friend, your son, Brian Finley, he
tweeted this morning. I gotta imagine if Virginia didn't have
a COVID issue this week, they would have won. That
very well could have been the case. I think the
n C Double A screwed up by not spacing out
the conference tournaments before the n C Double A tournament.
(45:54):
I would have had a much bigger gap where these
teams they can you know, you can quarantine, you can
get all your ducks in a row right before the tournament.
But we had the VCU game ruled a no contest.
Vir Ginuine was greatly impacted with their COVID situation. I
just think there should have been more of a gap
between the conference tournaments in the Big Dance, right or maybe,
(46:16):
and this sounds even crazier, just eliminate the conference. They
were talking about eliminating the conference tournaments. They were thinking
about doing that because obviously the NT Double A men's
tournament is bigger than the conference tournament. But you get
selections from teams in the conference tournaments, the automatic BIS
and things like that. So I don't know, but you know,
what Brian Fenley wrote is true. But you can also substitute, well,
(46:37):
VCU may have advanced too if they didn't have a
COVID issue, So well listen and yes, And the other
side of it is, even if you do space it out,
there's no guarantee that everybody is gonna be good to go.
There's no COVID impact whatsoever. True, there's no guarantee. But
I think your chances are better if you're going to
your conference tournament and you're in a neutral location and
(47:02):
there's travel involved. And I just think it's smarter to
leave more time between the conference tournaments and the beginning
of the n C Double A tournament. I think the
odds are more more in your favor, right. I'd be
like this if we're talking about Vegas. If I said
the odds are gonna be way more in your favor
at let's just say the craps table. It doesn't mean
(47:23):
it's automatically going to work out in your favor. But
the if the odds are more slanted towards you, you'd
be a fool to just thumb your nose up at
that meaning less risk. That's basically no, no, no, meaning
it might. There's a better chance it's going to work
out for you. Okay, it's not a certainty if you
add more time between conference tournaments and the n C
(47:44):
Double A tournament, but the odds of that happening are greater.
So I would have taken those odds and a better
chance that we wouldn't have this COVID impact that we
do right now, and I hope they don't have any
more COVID impacts during this tournament. But the big story
was yesterday a Beeline Christian upsetting number three seed Texas
fifty two. In the way they did it, one point
(48:04):
two seconds to go there, Joe Pleasant, that worst foul
shooter really goes on the line for two shots, fouled
by Matt Coleman, the third on a putback, mixed the
first and calmly sinks the second, and all of a sudden,
Appleing Christian moves on texts and that's gonna be bad
for Shaka Smart because you know the way people remember,
you know, it's all about the tournament. I'm not saying
(48:26):
his job is on the line, but I tell you,
I saw what happened to Archie Miller in Indiana. Some
alum writes a check, some boost the right to check
for ten million to buy him out at once they
win the school. It was a booster. Well, win games,
you know, I don't have a bleeding heart for you.
That's the way it goes. And when games are supposed
to win, well yeah, like uh, for Archie Miller, win
(48:49):
more games in the big tournament at least. Yeah, So yeah,
I'm not going to cry to the heavens about that one,
but I mean, yeah, it's the ultimate report card. The
ends double A tournament is the ultimate report card. And
for Texas that's rough, man, that's a rough loss. To
be a three seed you're getting knocked off by a
four team is not good, not good whatsoever. And a
(49:13):
team that just turned to D one really yeah, And
it was tough too because Jones had the clutch three
right to give him a one point lead. And that's
even rougher. Where it's bad enough to lose to a
fourteen seed if you're a three. But to take the
lead on a clutch three just seconds prior to foulowing
(49:33):
a bad free throw shooter who drains two of them
and the final one point, Like that's rough man, that's
even rougher is the way they lost, not just who
they lost to whoa, it's it's it's great. I mean,
I can't wait to to the games to go today.
And I'm looking at Houston. I love the Cougars. I
love the Houston Cougars. I love Calvin Sampson. I think
they're a great team. I really do. I think they're
(49:54):
a tough team. I think there's someone underrated. Although they
were a two seed, but I still believe that this
team could go deep. Now I didn't have them deep
in my pool, but certainly I think that can go deep.
And I think they're gonna beat Rutgers today. I really do.
Um Alright, Like I would love to do a Houston
pop quiz with you, you know, like name a guy
I don't know. I mean, yeah, five players and out
(50:20):
of that's not true. I probably could, but you know,
but still I'm watching teams and our teams play. But
here's the thing, you know, you want to know how
do you win in this tournament? If you're a coach,
it's easy. I'll tell you how you win. Look at
some of the rosters as NT Double A participants to
the University of Harford. The Hawks got two players from
the Czech Republic, one from Slovakia, one from More Australia,
(50:40):
one from New Zealand. I looked at Utah State their roster,
two players from Poland, one from Canada, one from Portugal.
Well from More Australia, went from the Ukraine, It's unbelieve Gonzaga, Lithuania, Russia,
and France. Yeah. I look, would these kids ever be
admitted if they didn't play basketball? And you talk about
why there's such as a balance of power the Nancy
Double A tournament, because there's players that are playing now
(51:03):
and they're recruiting them from all over the world. That's
where they're getting this stock from. Listen, I don't understand
your takeaway. Would they be admitted if they weren't players? Like, yeah,
well what what? What? What? The assumption here is they're
not good students. You can't be ah a good student
if you come from another country. I don't understand your
take on Why why are they being recruited? Why are
(51:24):
they coming because they're good players? Why do you think
and are they taking up spots from someone like yourself?
For me, that could have gone to the school Andy. Hello,
it's called sports, like the better place, It's called business.
That's what. It's a business. Let's face it. It's all
about money and contact is gonna make a ton of money.
And that's it. I get it. I'm not complaining that
(51:44):
they're they're I'm just saying this is a key if
you're a coach. This is how you win. Go worldwide.
And I said coming into this segment, get an atlas,
get an atlas, get a map, find out what country
you gonna go to, and get some players. That's what
it is. Okay, Yeah, Like I don't under staying the
takeaway here. If you can find better players outside the
(52:05):
US and that's gonna help your team, well, of course
you're gonna have those guys on your squad, and that's
the key to win. I'll tell you what I remember
years when Bob Hoggins took over the University of Cincinnati,
he raised a lot of eyebrows. Why he went to
junior college rather you can't get a junior college kids.
Those kids are not academically ready. They can't come in here.
It's gonna be bad for the school. You know what,
(52:25):
every school in the country has gone junior college. Now
the new thing is not junior college. It's going inter national.
And that's okay. That's the key to winning. And that's
what I'm saying. Get an atlas, get a map, find
out where you're gonna go. Get some money. And I
don't know how do you do this. I guess you
have contacts in Europe all over the world where they'll
give you a I don't think coaches are flying all
(52:45):
over the place. Maybe they do, I don't know, but
they're gonna get someone to tell you who the players
are and bring them in. If the University of Hartford
in Connecticut can get players from Portugal, Australia, in the Ukraine,
anybody could do it. Well. Yeah, Listen, they're a lot
of schools that they're not going to get the elite
five star American kids. They're gonna go to the blue
(53:06):
bloods more times than not. So yeah, if you can
somehow find more talent outside of the normal pipeline, so well,
that's to your benefits. So it makes total sense to
go that route, right And it's funny because I'd like
to see the TVs do a little more background stories
on these kids, these foreign kids attending school. How do
(53:26):
they adapt? Is it a problem? Maybe? More like the Olympics, right,
like we always get the great backstories of the Olympians.
More of that right now. I love that. I mean,
and there happens some great backstories, they really happen. But
I want to see a little bit more about the
the international flavor of athletes that are playing in college.
How did how did they get here? Why do you
come here? And basically more than that, how how are
(53:47):
you fitting in? Is it difficult to fit in to
a situation? I mean, let's face it, Gonzaga is basically
like wef Broadway. Wouldn't you think spoken Washington? You know,
if you're coming from Poland. I just want to man,
I'm with you, I hear you. I like the profile pieces.
That's a big deal. That's a big draw in the Olympics.
And uh, I think especially college basketball when it's a
(54:10):
rotating door. Think about the similarities, like Olympics every four years,
like we get four years of these basketball players at
most and uh, it's a rotating it's a revolving door.
It's hard to keep up with who plays for who.
So the more you know about some of these unique stories, yeah,
I'm with you. I think it makes a lot more
sense to uh to know the backdrop of some of
(54:32):
these guys. Okay, quickly, I'm gonna give you a pick today.
I'm gonna give you like my my big special. I'm
not gonna okay, all right, it's just a part card.
Are we feeling? I just got I got Bob Huggins
in West Virginia beating Syracuse. That's all I said. I
can't that's five fifteen Eastern time. I can't wait for
that game that's gonna be. That might be the game
of the day. Maybe I'm wrong, but I know Barela
(54:53):
wisconstant to be a pretty good game as well. But
the Syracuse West Virginia game, that's the game of the day,
all right, you're looking forward that. I just think that
the Syracuse zone, it's funny, man, Like, I think Syracuse
zone is like the knuckleball pitcher in MLB where I
the comparis that I would make is when I see
a successful knuckleballer. I'm like, why aren't there more knuckleballers?
(55:17):
Why this guy is forty five years old and he's
still pitching effectively in the big leagues? Like, why don't
we have more of those guys? And I look at
Syracuse every single year seemingly in the tournament and their
zone defense. I just I don't know why more teams
don't do what Syracuse does. We say it seemingly every
year we're like Syracuse syracusing that zone defense man. Nobody
(55:40):
else runs it, And I'm like, why why don't more
teams run it? Why don't they do it? If it works? Yeah,
I'm more than that. Jim Behid not only does he
run it, and he's done it like for twenty plus years,
he doesn't move from it. He recruits players that fit
that zone like seven ft wingspans, like you know, the condors.
Really it's amazing, It's it's great. I mean, I love it.
(56:01):
But let's see if what less Virginia could beat Dad
zone with some outside shooting that deuced Deduce McCalister guy
whatever his name. Well, listen, man, it's one of these
deals where it can be a confidence buster, you know,
because if you're a shooter and you're getting good looks,
you're getting quality shot attempts, and you're a college kid.
(56:22):
This is your tournament life on the line, and you
miss one when you're wide open, that starts to screw
with you. It really does. And uh, I just think
that that's one of the main factors in their zone
defense being so effective. Is I think that there are
a lot of kids that get quality looks, open looks,
and if they start to miss one or two, they
(56:43):
start doubting themselves. It happens consistently, man, and not many
teams see that either. I mean it's difficult. I mean
you could practice against it, but when you see the
deal in person on the big stage and stuff, all right,
he's probably Noah'm Andy Ferman. You're gonna get him on
Twitter at the No Show and OI Show or at
Andy Ferman FSR or or Betty Yet eight seven seven
(57:04):
on Fox at eight seven seven six three six nine,
we have bottom barrel betting in this hour our three
little bit of bits and pieces, some notes and quotes
and Brian no one knows pitch. But right now did
Tom Brady make them do this? That's next. They spent
a bundle. That's right around the corner. All right. Here
is Brian No, I'm Andy Fermittt. Together we have Fox
(57:26):
Sports Sunday on Fox Boats Radio and we're live for
the Farmers Insurance Fox Spots Radio Studios called Farmers Today
for a quote, b a little ball for you. I'm
talking about football, the ball you love. Do you like
football better than basketball? Smells like ball? Did you really
just ask me that? Do you not know me at all?
I just want to confirm, just want to confirm it.
(57:47):
I mean, come on, dude, like I know, I know
you know. I love my hoops. Don't get me wrong,
I love hoops. But football is like ball is on
another level. Football is king. Football is king. But it's
it's a great diversion. The final four, it really is
the NT Double A tournament's great. I love it, but
we move on because the Patriots, I don't know, we'll
(58:08):
open up that checkbook. They spent the bundle of free agency.
They needed a tight end, they did a wide receiver.
They need a defensive tackle. And I said to myself,
maybe this is like the Tom Brady ghost haunting them.
They said, hey, look, you know he's gone. We better
start spending the money. The fans are upset, and look,
I'm Bill Belichick and I can't afford to go out
a loser to Tom Brady pressured them to open up
(58:31):
the checkbook. Totally disagree. I don't think this is about
Tom Brady. I think this is about the lowering of
the salary cap. Right. It went from about one and
nine million to two because of the point five if
you want to be technical about it. But um, we're
lowering it by you know, close to sixteen million dollars,
(58:55):
and um, that's a big deal. That's a huge deal
because typically it goes up and up and up year
after year. But because of the COVID impact and we
have empty stadiums, largely, the salary cap reduces. So what
did you see? You saw a lot of teams that
were over the cap have to part with guys, and
there were a lot of free agents on the market
that could be had for shorter term deals. And the
(59:18):
Patriots they structured these deals where there isn't a huge
cap hit in so they're able to take advantage of
the lower salary cap. I think this is a strategic
move by the Patriots. Of course, they want to get
better but they didn't go out and overly extend themselves
for a quarterback that is a slight upgrade to Cam Newton.
(59:41):
They brought back Cam and they tried to upgrade the
talent around him. I don't think this is oh Tom
won the Super Bowl or the fans, Oh gosh, the fans,
they're they're what they're gonna leave the Patriots. There is
die hard over there as any fan bases. So this
is about a strategic move and doing what's best is
they see for the roster and taking advantage of the
(01:00:02):
market and the lower salary cap. They were smart to
approach it that way. And more than that, you bring
back Cam Newton was kind of raised some eyebrows at
the time. Now they've got some receivers for Cam Newton years.
We knew he could rush to football and he did
what he had like twelve touchdowns last year. But now Hunter,
Henry Hunt, the Henry they're bringing in. I looked at Hunt.
The Henry stats. Uh, He's had at least five hundred
plus receiving his last three active seasons, a career high
(01:00:24):
like six fifties something back in nineteen and he only
played twelve games there. So this guy is gonna be
a great target for Cam Newton. Plus, you know they've
made money. They made their history really the Patriots on
getting tight ends with Gronk and that was their offense.
I'll run the football, get a tight end and played
great defense. And in that conference, that division, they could
(01:00:46):
make some Hey, they could be a playoff contender next year,
but flows head and shoulders above everybody right now. But
other than that, they could they can make a move.
I think the Pages could get back in the playoffs
next year. Well, I think the Bills are the team
to beat. I still think they're the most talented. They've
got the best quarterback in the division, certainly on that
roster and Josh Allen. But I don't think they're heading shoulders.
(01:01:07):
I don't think they're that far ahead of the other teams.
I think, you know, they're the team to beat. That's
where I would put the Bills. But the Patriots, yeah,
they're absolutely going to be playoff contenders. I think I
really want to see what they do with the NFL Draft,
because do they use a first round pick on a quarterback?
Are they, you know, content where they are looking forward
(01:01:29):
to the next year, Maybe they'll pursue a QB then
or do they move up? Do they they go all
in try to move up to get one of those
top prospects. I'm really curious how it works out. One
of the silliest things that I've heard this offseason is, oh, well, Belichick,
he doesn't draft quarterbacks in the first round. He had
Brady for two decades. Why in the world draft a
(01:01:49):
quarterback in the first round? Man, So I wouldn't use
the last you know, two decades with Brady on the
roster as a way to gauge the Patriots most likely
not you is in a first round pick on a QB.
That one doesn't make any sense to me, right. I
think there's if there's a quarterback available, I think you
gotta draft a quarterback. You know. One of the things
that kind of made me scratch my head that Ryan Finley,
(01:02:10):
the backup quarterback on the Bengals, traded to the Houston Texans.
Why would the Texans want Ryan Finley unless there's some
sort of connection there with some of the coaches. I
don't understand that one at all. I mean, Ryan Finley,
did you see that deal? Boy? Andy? I don't getting
a warm body at the backup quarterback, you know, like,
I don't know, you look into these backup quarterback deals
(01:02:34):
like they're just getting someone who can be somewhat competent
in a in case of emergency break class. Now, I
don't think that Ryan Finley is the guy that you
want back there for four weeks if your starter is
out right. But that's all it is. It doesn't indicate
much of anything. I'll tell you something. Well, look, there's
other backups besides Ryan Finley out there in the marketplace,
(01:02:55):
number one and number two. I think the Houston Texans
really have to start thinking about what could happen if
DeShawn Watch is not gonna play at all? If the
NFL in love with this alleged investigation, Well, they already are.
They're doing their decisions to try to find out, yeah,
like does he need to be on the Commissioner's exempt list,
(01:03:16):
what do they need to do? What are the proper steps?
So yeah, they're investigating as well. They're trying to figure
out what's what. I can't like the Texans in the
position that they are in. It's gonna be fascinating to
see how that unfolds. Just with where we're at right now.
It's lawsuit city, one after another. So if the Texans
are smart, I've been saying this for months, if DeShawn
(01:03:38):
doesn't want to be there, you have to move him
and get what you can for the guy. But now
that's all thrown out of whack because of this current situation,
this scenario where maybe teams take await and see approach,
maybe they back off. If they're still interested in acquiring DeShawn,
they certainly want the guy for a lower price. So
there is a huge ripple effect with this whole situation,
(01:04:00):
with all these lawsuits. Cer correct tell you when I
got another quartterback, I want to touch on you. But
before we do that, I want to say that you
could never do this. You could never do this. We're
gonna tell you why, but first, Brian Finley always does this.
He has the latest for you. Next. Well, thank you
so much, guys, I appreciate you talking about my move
to the Texans. Third seeded Texas flopping in the first
(01:04:22):
round of the n C Double A Tournament after fourteen
seeded Abilee and Christian forcing twenty three turnovers on the
states flagship school, severing the Longhorns fifty three to fifty two.
Alfter the game, Abileen Christian head coach Joe Golding, thinking
over the importance of this victory, I have no idea.
I'm sure there's a lot of possess are gonna come
out of that. Man. We just beat the University of Texas.
(01:04:44):
You know, little Ablen Christian out in West Texas built
a program that went uh total toll with the University
of Texas, and uh, you know, it's an incredible story.
So who do the Wildcats have next in the n
C Double A Tournament u C l A. After the
Bruins wrapping up a win against b y U seventy
three to sixty two, Johnny, you know you're sniffing the
(01:05:04):
Sweet sixteen over there, big. Oh my goodness. You know
it's funny because Andy, you make so much fun of
me and my support of Mick crowninically, you are just
envious that he has banished Cincinnati and moved on and
got a better job, and you know what, I'm happy
for him. Let me just say this and I'll clear
(01:05:24):
the year with you for once, because you're killing me. Really,
he got his four win in February career when he's
one hell of a coach, and he's missed here in Cincinnati.
He's a tough grinder. His teams played great defense and
he's lucky this tear because he's got a great offensive
team and U c l a as well. There you go. Yeah,
And he's straightforward. The guys love him. He's a motivator
(01:05:45):
and he just he tells it straight. And I think
that more more coaches could learn from his tactics. So
the Bruins one. Yeah, as we mentioned against bu Yu.
Also Oregon moving into the round of thirty two getting
by VCU without even playing the game because of COVID
nineteen positive test results inside the RAMS program. Number one
(01:06:06):
Gone Zaga manipulating Norfolk State fifty five, Oklahoma clowning on
Missouri seventy two to sixty eight. Austin Reeves throwing down
twenty three points thirteen seeded Ohio punking Virginia sixty two
to fifty eight. The Calvs have been bounced in the
first round of this tourney in two of the last
(01:06:28):
four years. Also, Maryland takes a pitchfork to Yukon sixty
three to fifty four. Eric Ayala twenty three points two
seeded Iowa pinching Grand Canyon eighties six to seventy four.
Luca Garza had twenty four USC Alabama, Colorado, then Florida
State taking down my alma mater, U n C, greens
Bro Kansas, l s U, Creighton, and Michigan all winners
(01:06:51):
against their lower seated opponents. And finally, in the NBA,
Lebron James finding out he has a high ankle sprain
and will be out for an undetermined amount of time.
The Lakers lost a game yesterday against the Hawks. Two
out as well. Anthony Davis is out too. They're in trouble.
They are in trouble. So we'll have to see what happens.
(01:07:12):
Because those Laker fans, man, do they like to talk back.
Let me back up the break. What a statement right there. Goodness,
you said that you Alma made you want to see Greensboro. Yeah,
I didn't know you went there. Yeah, and I would
know that about your own son. Goodness, it's bad enough
as well. I've been an absent father. I admitted that.
(01:07:34):
That's only something that's not known my goodness. Yes, well,
finally it's about time, and now we're gonna have a
sit down in front of a TV host and we're
gonna cry over our feelings. But yeah, I was a
manager on the basketball team my freshman year. That means,
like Phil Phil, I got to wipe up the sweat
of all the players. That's what I got. Did you
suit up like some of those managers at the end
(01:07:56):
and like drain of three? Did that happen? Big? Big?
You know, I have a little bit of an interesting
jump shot where there's like a little bit of a
herky jerky nous to it. So I don't know what happened.
It's kind of like Carson Wentz last season with the football.
You guys were talking about him like something's in his
daddy had the yips, Like I've got the yips with
my basketball shot, and I might need to find a
(01:08:19):
shot doctor. Brian No, if you're one, and I'll hire you.
But didn't you scrimmage? The varsa? Didn't you scrimmage and practice?
Other times? The coaches that the manager scrimmage a little bit? Well,
I was a JV basketball player as an upper class
but in high school, So how do you think I
did in that scrimmage? Pretty good? I don't know based
on that description, Andy, I think it when I'm trying
(01:08:39):
to build him up. He's my kid. Come on when
you never knew, thank you. Hey, there's we'll see in
an hour. There's no practice for this. That's coming right up.
He's Brian No. I made the Firman. We've crossed the
fifty online and what we call Fox Sports Sunday and
welcome back to the Farmer's Insurance. Fox Sports Radio Studios
called one eight farmers to switch and you could save
(01:08:59):
a bundle on or auto insurance quickie. Now, Joe Golden,
the coach of Avelene Christian who I never knew who
the coach was until yesterday. How many offers will he
get now? Because you know athletic threat, there's a crazy
they want to get the hot guy. He's hot right
now if in fact they could beat U. C. L A,
which I don't think they will. But even though he
got by the first round, which was a big win
Forum over Texas, he may be moving off from Avelin Christian. Agree.
(01:09:23):
I don't know, man, they want a game like that's
a big win. They took down a three seed. There
are gonna be some bigger schools that look at the guy.
But I don't know how many offers he's gonna get
And I also think that you've got a tread carefully
where I get it. It's appealing if a smaller school
has a big upset, but at the end of the day,
it's one game. It's one game. Like I would need
(01:09:44):
a lot more. And I'm not saying this coach doesn't
have it, but I would beat a lot more on
the resume than just one win, even if it's a
big upset. Support him minute game. It's college basketball, there's
three point line, like anything can happen. I would just
need more than just that. I remember several years ago,
I'm I'm line is getting blank. You can help me
out of that school in Florida. They got hot and
he got hired at USC Remember that, Yes, Florida Gulf Coast, Right,
(01:10:08):
what I happened to him? He's gone now, isn't he.
I mean he's looking for work. He's got to be
coaching somewhere, like an assistant. I would think, right, well,
that's the thing. And they went on an extended run
in the tournament, you know, with Florida Gulf Coast. Sure
they were it was like dunk City over there. That
was amazing what they were doing. And we haven't heard
from that school since. Yeah, I know right. Well, it
(01:10:29):
shows you, right, and there's a difference between that was
an extended run, So there's a even a bigger difference
if it's just a one off, it's one big upset.
And look, you understand what I'm saying, Andy, There are Look,
there are some coaches from lower levels. They have one
big upset or they have one good tournament run, they
get a bigger job and they do great. Like there
(01:10:50):
are situations where that's the case as well. But I
just would I'd be looking for more on the resume
and more indications of success than one big win or
even one big tournament. I would want more than that,
just to indicate a little bit that. You know, we
were talking about the Patriots and free agency and the money.
There's one guy I really feel for our free agency
(01:11:12):
and that's Derek Carr because all of a sudden, now
John Gruden and I looked at defense stunk list here.
But he's facing a major rebuild on that offensive line.
I mean, Trent Brown goes to the Pats and they've
lost like four or five starting offensive lineman. I think
Richie Incognito was brought back the other day. But I
don't know what they're doing that offensive line. If I'm
Derek Carr, I'm taking a little bit more life insurance. Yeah. Well,
(01:11:34):
they tried to get Rodney Hudson to take a pay cut.
I love talking offensive line, you know, offensive line to
thank you for taking us down this path. Andy, Um,
you know me, I'm all about this stuff. But I
know you've got yeah, big time players. Rodney Hudson is
one of the better centers in football and he's with
the Arizona Cardinals now. They tried to get him to
(01:11:54):
take a pay cut. Gabe Jackson is elsewhere now. They
tried to get him to take a pay cut. Um.
And look, I'm with you, Derek Carr, Like, hello, look
at the Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes running for his life. Yeah.
So it's tough when you start short changing the offensive line,
when you try to skimp on the old line. It's
(01:12:15):
a reason why I've called him Russell Copperfield for years, Like,
you have to be part magician. If you've got the
Swiss cheese like line protection and you're gonna be taking
some shots, you're gonna be running for your life. It
is not an easy thing. Whatsoever. But it's weird man
like Derek Carr. I always have said I think that
Derek Carr he should get the attention that Mariota gets.
(01:12:38):
I don't know why. More times than not, people are
very positive about Mariota, like, oh, this guy, he can move,
he's got some athletic ability. He can't stay healthy, and
he isn't consistent at all. Yeah, but more times than not,
people are way more positive about Mariota, who hasn't done
half as much as Derek Carr has. It's strange to me,
(01:12:59):
Derek Carr should be getting the love, not Mario. Yeah.
And when Derek Carr gets the heat, and he's gotten
some heat, people really don't go in delve and see
what the problem is. It's not there a car. Look
at the stats. His defense is terrible. It really had
no defensive support whatsoever. Right, Yeah, it's way more of
a defensive problem with the radars, and they have Gus
Bradley now they're hopefully hoping he can help the defense
(01:13:22):
at least get to average after the Paul Gunther regime
over there, so that that's the main problem. Andy, It's funny,
right like where I don't know why Derek car gets
so much heat when that's not the problem. I understand
that quarterbacks under then I get that. I understand there
are so many times when a quarterback gets blamed when
(01:13:45):
he shouldn't. Think about Stafford raked over the coals for years.
Our guy Chris could speak to this. He wasn't the problem.
They didn't have a running game for years and years
they had I don't know how many years. It was
like from team that maybe twenty nineteen or something like that,
where they didn't have a one hundred yard rusher in
a game, and their defense was never anything good, Like
(01:14:10):
it was way more with the stuff around Stafford than
it was Stafford. And I think a lot of that
is similar with Derek Carr. In the position you play,
I mean, the position gets the credit and the blame.
It's all about the position, because the average Joe does
not study or no offensive lineman. You know, it's all
about skill set that skilled position. It's receiver, running back,
(01:14:31):
in quarterback, basically all quarterback. That's what it's all about. Sure,
but you hear this all the time that defense wins championships.
We know how much defense matters. And if the Raiders
have one of the worst defenses. I don't know how
that's lost in the shuffle. And it's like Derek Card,
Derek Card, Derek Carr, it's like no man defense, defense defense.
That's what's hurting them way more than d Car. Yeah,
(01:14:53):
I'm with you, you know I'm with you on that
ten thousand percent. But I just want to touch on
this because I wanted to mention coming into this segments
saying that you could never do this, not meaning you be,
but the average Joe couldn't do this. And what I'm
saying that is making the sacrifices without making a dime.
What do I mean by that playing in the n
C Double A tournament. I mean, just step back for
a seven think about it. Yeah, I'm happy they're playing,
(01:15:15):
but isolation, no money, somewhat exploitation in my mind, exist
in a semi bubble to prevent COVID nineteen the VCU.
Sorry about that. I really feel for you. Guys. Can't
be with your parents, hit me with significant others, no
leaving the hotel, no hanging out with team members. But
the question I have, you gotta keep the distance from
the teammates. No roommates, meals together, must be spaced out,
(01:15:36):
But does it even make sense because they're playing a
practicing together. You know, it's really tough. It's a tough deal.
It's a tough situation. And I don't know if many
people could make this sacrifice. I couldn't. I know, I
couldn't do it. I wouldn't that I couldn't. I don't know. Man,
Like I need some harps in the background with what
you're saying here, Well, could you do it? I don't think.
(01:15:57):
I mean maybe you could. I couldn't do it, and
I wouldn't. Look look at yes, oh, these poor unfortunate
souls in the tiles and the tribulations. Hello, like, look
at the pandemic and everybody else. Like you're making a
lot of sacrifices in general, with your jobs and whatever,
(01:16:17):
social distancing, and there are many things. It's not just
athletes that are making sacrifices. Like I take my hat
off to them. It's not easy. I'm not trying to
say it's a walk in the park, but to make
it sound like they're the only ones making sacrifices. I
don't follow you on them, no, no, but it's it's tough,
and especially with the NBA players did last year. It's
a tough situation. I don't think I could do it,
and I wouldn't want to do it. Yeah, you're right,
(01:16:37):
there are people who looked at homes, lost their jobs,
but lost whatever it may be. But I get it.
I mean, but this is a tough sacrifice to make,
especially for college kids, and they're not getting a dime
to do it. That's what I'm saying. Well, we should
touch on that top of the hour, right like the
hashtag not n C double a property. I think that's
pretty interesting. So maybe if we carve a little time,
that's an interesting topic, I think we could get Brian
(01:17:00):
no ay Ferman, Fox Sports Sunday con Fox Spots Radio,
I will give you our very best for the very worst.
Botta barrel betting is all yours. Next Bota barrel betting
coming right up. It's about ten minutes before the top
of the hour. He's Brian no I'm Andy Firman. This's
his Fox Sports sunthing on Fox Boats Radio, and we're
live from the Farmer's Insurance Fox Bolts Radio Studios called
(01:17:20):
one eight eight eight Farmers and you can save a
whole lot of something on auto insurance. Let's play this game.
Bottom wanted to sleep. People get my money. I'll put
your break to sleep. Yes, and the man who's never
at the bottom. We think the one and only BB
Bow bets in. Good morning Bow, Good morning guys. How's
(01:17:41):
it going today? Good man? How are you doing? Bow?
Are you geeking out on the tournament? No? No, I
I actually got into a bit of an argument yesterday
with Anthony Gargano because really I think the tournament is boring.
I don't like college about Wow, look at you, yea
Gargano talk some sense of you. Are you still like? No?
(01:18:02):
I still think it's still I'll never back down. Um,
this is my this is my hill to die on. Wow,
you claim it's born? What what gives you that college
basketball is just it's a bunch of kids just dribbling
around for twenty five seconds and then throwing up a
jump shot. And it's yeah, I just can't get into it.
(01:18:22):
But you like the NBA better? Yes, If I'm going
to watch basketball, I'll watch the Okay. Alright, So last
week Brian one two to one, because we had a
couple of pushes. You guys both took the Copenhagen Flames
in the Counterstrike, Global Offensive Pinnacle Cups. So they win
that game. Yeah, so winning alright. So this week we've
(01:18:47):
got Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky in the n I
T quarterfinal over under eleven and a half points for
Louisiana Tech forward Isaiah Crawford. Wow, it's very specific over
as the winner. I will go first, Andy Ferman, I
will take the uh. I'll take the under today. Sensing
the under, you know, stars, it's in the heavens. I
(01:19:09):
feel it's strong. Yeah, I'm feeling under here, and I
don't think I'm gonna watch this game, but I will
take the over. Wait a minute, you don't think you are.
So there's a good chance you will. I may it
depended up. No, you won't know. You won't you're watching.
It's on depended upon what n C double A game
might be on at that time. All right. Next up,
another n I T quarterfinal. We've got an NC State
(01:19:32):
versus Colorado State and over under a hundred nineteen and
a half total points. I'm gonna take under. Right there,
they both play some sort of a slow down office.
I don't see a running gun offense. I'm gonna take
the the under. Yeah, they're begging you to take the over, right,
So when Vegas is trying to beg you to do something,
(01:19:52):
you don't typically wanted to not do it. So I'll
take the under two. All right? Uh tonight, we've got
the Lakers at the sun On so over under nineteen
and a half points for Kyle Kuzma. Okay, the Coup's
I'm gonna take the over. They're all banged up. Someone's
gotta gotta score. Give me the over in that. Yeah,
you know what, someone's going to school, but I don't
think it's gonna be him, So I'm gonna take the
(01:20:13):
why not? Why not? Couse? You have no love for
the Couse? Yeah, I don't see him being that aggressive offensive,
but I really don't. I hope he does, but I
don't think he will. Alright, Alright, in the n C
Double A Women's Tournament, we've got South Carolina favored by
thirty two and a half points over Mercer. Am I up, Yeah, Uh,
(01:20:36):
you know what I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take Mercy
with the thirty two. I am I'm doing that. Wow,
bo Benson? That is that the real line? Is that?
What it is? Wow Bose versus record. Do you have
any idea what the record was doesn't matter? They stay obvious. Yeah,
I'm gonna lay. I'm gonna lay the thirty two and
(01:20:57):
a half. I know that's a lot of points, all right.
And lastly, we've got the League of Legends Champions Korea
Dragon X versus Damn one Gaming Kia, Dragon X's favorite.
So who's the art right winner here? Dragon X all day?
Are you kidding me? Right? I'm thinking about getting some
Dragon X inc. That's how deep in the game I
(01:21:18):
am with Dragon X, the real deal. What are you
dragging X T shirt? That hoodie Dragon X hoodie Dragon
X sleeve on my left arm? No, No, you know what,
you get one. I'll pay for it if you get one.
How's that? We'll do that little Dragon X action. How's that?
All right? Stay with us right here on Fox. Not
much to pick from. Will explain that, but first it's
(01:21:40):
time to say wake up amer guys that dime. Yes,
I pump those numbers out. Those are rookie numbers. WHOA
can't wake up with that? But we'll try, all right,
He's probably no. I made the firm with This is
Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Posts Radio. We're broadcasting live
from the Farmer's Insurance Fox Posts Radio Studios called one
eight eight farmers to switch and you could save big
(01:22:02):
on your auto insurance. Is really the best thing you
could do with your phone in a few minutes. Just
called one eight eight eight farmers and start saving today.
We are farmers, all right. Now there we go better
late than okay now in this okay, you can go
(01:22:26):
next door now now, in this hour of power. There's
no more powerful man than my partner and friend, the
man who carries the show. He really does so one
and only Mr Bryan. Now, hello b our three, what's up?
Just getting set for yes, always set for that. And
also the n C Double A tournament. Huh yeah, we
(01:22:48):
would tournament action. Andy Furman over there like we can't
let Bo get us down here with his views on
the tournament. You know, I'm still fired up for this.
He said it was boring. I don't on the four
and whatsoever. I think it's like almost riveting. And you
see a guy sticking too foul shots at one point
two seconds and beating up on another three seed like
Texas and a beliein Christians, which I couldn't pick out
(01:23:10):
on a map, moving on to the next round play
in U C l A. I think it's wonderful. You know,
that's drama. You can't beat that, and I love it.
You Know what's interesting to me is, really think about
this because I hear this way more about college basketball
than I do college football. Where listen, it's they're amateurs, right,
They're certainly not professionals, and you're gonna see the quality
(01:23:33):
of play differ a lot from the NFL or the NBA.
We get that, but I think there's far more complaining
about the quality of college hoops compared to the quality
of college football. But you could play that game with
college football teams too, where there are a ton of
dropped passes and you know, errant throws, and it's just like,
(01:23:54):
oh my gosh, Like you could play that game as well,
but you rarely do. Compared to college hoops. I think
it's night and day in terms of well, the reason
about when you open up a field of sixty eight
and some of the teams that A you never see
and B they don't really compete or could compete or
should compete on the same level as the majors, like
the blue bloods that's the the that's the difference, it
really is. I mean, do you think the poor play
(01:24:16):
stands out way more in basketball where maybe you're missing
threes left and right, maybe you're turning the ball over,
there's a traveling violation. I think for the ban I
watched that St. Bonaventure game yesterday. I tell you what,
that was ready to puke the first half. I mean
they said as one team, I think it was shooting
three for thirteen. I mean from the field. Come on,
(01:24:37):
and it's disgusting. And that's why I love basketball and
I love the NBA because those guys make those shots,
and and look, they're good teams in college make the shots.
I get it. But you watched that St. Bonavential game yesterday.
You could die. I think that a lot of the
people that are anti college hoops or even anti the tournament,
I think those people just have unrealistic expectation. If you're
(01:25:00):
expecting NBA quality from college guys, that's on you. That
you're the guy who goes to the fast food restaurant
expecting a seven course meal in five star quality. It's
you just have unrealistic expectations. I like the tournament. I'm
not watching the tournament for NBA like play. I'm watching
for drama. I'm watching for wild stuff happening. I'm watching
(01:25:23):
for potential buzzer beaters and just the thrill of stuff.
You know, That's what it is. It's not about the
quality of play. If you're looking for that, then yeah,
of course you're gonna be let down. And there's another
element I think why people like you and I not
both Benson, but you and I really enjoy the college
tournament is the fact that it's almost like a chess match,
Like this afternoon, you're gonna see West Virginia trying to
(01:25:44):
outmatch that Syracuse to three zone. You don't see that
basically in the NBA. There's no basic go one team
against you know, when when Portland and you see Portland
play a lot. When Portland's playing Sacramento, you're not going
through your mind like how are they gonna match up?
They just get on the floor, throw the bowl up
and running gun. That's what they do. But there's a
lot of matchup situations here in the college game which
(01:26:05):
you don't normally see in the NBA, which I enjoy
right well, listen, man, it's one of these deals it's
a personal preference. It's a tomato tomato type thing, like
maybe you tend to date for whatever reason, brunettes instead
of blonds, like you're just drawn. Okay, fine, it's your
personal preference whatever, right, But I just think that the
(01:26:26):
specific reason of well, the quality of play in college hoops,
it's well, of course it's gonna be lesser. That's the
way it goes. They're not pros. So I think if
that's what trips you up, that to me doesn't make sense.
Of Course it's gonna be a lesser product than the Well,
there's another factor forgot about the product that the fact
that that really ties it all together, which is head
(01:26:47):
and shoulders above the NBA is the loyalty factor, the
alump factor. I mean all the alumps that came out
of the woodwork yesterday when Ohio you the Bobcats beat
up on Virginia. I mean, you don't have that in
the NBA. There's people rooting for teams so because they
went to that school and I love the school, and
is a love affair between the school and the team.
That's what it's all about. And you don't have that
in the NBA. Yeah, but you know what I'm thinking
(01:27:09):
of is uh, I think that the I think that
college basketball it's becoming a little bit more like baseball
just in terms of this andy. You still will have
the die hards, You'll have the people that will be
there no matter what, but the numbers, the popularity of
where college basketball was, it was unbelievable. Back in the day.
(01:27:33):
You had guys that could be the first overall pick
in the NBA draft. They're like, now, I want to
stay in school for another year. You know, it was
just completely different back then, so much better product, and
the popularity has absolutely lessened over the years. And you
look at where baseball was with its popularity in the heyday.
It was unbelievably popular. And again you still have your
(01:27:55):
die hards right now, but the numbers of those has
lessened and lessened over the year. I just think the
college hoops in terms of popularities becoming a little bit
more like baseball in that regard. Well, I hope not.
But why why would you say that? I mean, because
the the expansion of the of the tournament with more
teams is that it less is more. No, it's just, um,
I think that there are fewer stars that stick around longer,
(01:28:19):
like you're seeing a lot more of the one and
done players. Like, think about this, what would your excitement
level be? Would it be greater if Zion was still
with Duke and they were alive in the tournament? Would
you be more invested and more excited to see one
of those games? Like, of course you it would matter.
It makes a big difference. So I think it's more
of that. I think it's the the star power. It's
(01:28:43):
one either lacking or two leaves. Right away, you have
that you're one and Dun's they're not there for three
or four years. Can you imagine if Kevin Durant was
at Texas for three or four years instead of one,
or Zion was at Duke and this is his third eason,
like that would would be night and day. Right. But
(01:29:03):
you know, it's funny you mentioned the popularity has gone down,
and in the same token, I think the popularity. I
saw the TV ratings. I mean you compare the TV
ratings for the NBA All Star Game or the NBA
in general as opposed to five seven, eight years ago. Wow,
it's gone like maybe six down. For whatever the reason,
it's just gone down. Maybe there's too much maybe maybe
(01:29:24):
the seasons that are just expanding. You know, I can't
put my finger on it, and obviously either could the NBA.
But you talk about popularity, I'm gonna give you the
short list of I think the most popular sports right
now in America or sporting events. Number one's got to
be the super Bowl, Agreed. I think super Bowl tops
the ball. Number two. Maybe the College Football Playoff, I
(01:29:44):
think that could be number two, and number three maybe
the n C Double A Tournament. After that, I think
it's wide open. Maybe the Masters of the Kentucky Derby. Yeah,
I don't know, man, you'd have to dump dive into
the numbers as far as that. But the World Series
is not there. They may not even be in the
top seven or eight. The World Series. Yeah, I mean
they're not. It's not what it once was. That's the
(01:30:05):
bottom line. And sadly, I love the tournament there. Don't
get me wrong. There are plenty of people who love
the tournament. I just hear that more and more and
more these days, these you know, wet blankets like Bo Benson.
You know, our guy who's, oh gosh, the basketball in
college and that inferior product over here. I listen I'm
(01:30:28):
in Portland. It's an NBA market. I can't tell you,
Like I look at it where it's like finding twenty
dollars in my jacket, Like, WHOA, someone likes college hoops
around here. That's how it is, man, I'm telling you
that's the way. Oh yeah, they're way against it. It's
a bunch of white dudes missing threes. It sucks. I
(01:30:48):
hate the product. That's what people say all the time
around here about college hoops. Well but but let me
give me the comparison. Maybe it's a stretch and you,
you know, slop me around if I'm wrong, But the
popularity of the NFL went up two fold, threefold, whatever
it may be when they introduced fantasy football. I really
believe that because then you have like the non non
heavy duty fans got involved. Now I think it's the
(01:31:11):
same situation with the nt double A tournament, with the brackets.
I mean a lot of people get involved with practets.
They have no idea where the team is, who the
team is. They've just been on colors or whatever it
may be, the nicknames. But it's gotten the average guy,
the average joe who would never even go or turn
on a college basketball game on TV. He's involved now
because in the brackets. So you gotta do something to
(01:31:33):
reach out the fans who are not participants of that sport.
Fantasy football did it for the NFL. The brackets are
doing it for college football, right all right? But I
look at it like this, the brackets, they're like getting
married because the girl also likes Jesus, you know, Like
it's it's just not a foundation to build interest on.
(01:31:55):
Meaning this how many people's brackets were jacked up when
Ohio State lost. You know. So the brackets get you
initially into it, but the minute your bracket has busted,
the interest goes downhill rapidly for a lot of those people.
Whereas fantasy football, look, we're talking about half the year,
(01:32:15):
three quarters of the year potentially that you're still in
the thickett things that you're gonna be in your playoffs,
and you're invested longer. So I just think I'm totally
with you on fantasy football. That has meant a ton
to the NFL. It's just you understand what I'm saying.
It just keeps you invested longer, right next week to
rebound if you had a bad week in fantasy football
(01:32:35):
and you can make trades and things like that, which
is perfect. You're right, you can't trade your bracket, man,
you can't trade on your pick. So the next question
has to be asked that there's fantasy baseball, and I
think fantasy baseball was around before fantasy football. The reason
I don't think it's caught on the sport is too slow,
be the sport is too long. And see who wants
(01:32:56):
to keep up on fantasy every day of the week.
That's the yes, that's the key. That's totally the thing.
I played fantasy baseball one year and it was fun,
but it's just a junk. I don't think I had
time to eat for like four months in a like, dude,
it's tedious. You're setting your lineup like I was that
maniac where I'm like getting closers because it would help
(01:33:19):
your pitching numbers, and I'm doctoring my lineup. It's a
whole thing, man. Compared to football, one game a week done,
it's way easier that way. And more than that, if
you live on the East Coast and you're waiting for
those West Coast games to come in and the Dodges, Giants, whatever,
Arizona the next morning, I mean, come on, it's just
too much work. It really is. Fantishy football is perfect, perfect,
(01:33:41):
And then really the NFL should have plaued fantasy football
what it's done for that sport, taken the non fan
into making him a fan because the interest of fantasy football, right,
and it's unrealistic. Like last thing I'll say on this
is if you're a fantasy football player, you're not going
to get the same rush if you're playing fantasy baseball,
(01:34:04):
especially even fantasy basketball. I think because those games are
just they're there. There's so much more often right, like
you're you've got in basketball, you're talking about I don't know,
quick math on the flight five ish times the amount
of games in the NFL, like baseball way more so.
That's like a Sunday if you're following your fantasy football
(01:34:25):
team and you're getting alerts and oh my guy just
rushed for a touchdown and all, you're not going to
get the same highs in baseball when it's every single day,
Like it's just not going to happen. So it isn't
the same effect. How's this Grizzly chief a big time
listener of us on Sunday? He's on Twitter, he says,
I'm way more interested in NFL free agency. Then watch Madness.
(01:34:49):
How do you like that? That's a shot, That's a
big time shot. But is that bo Benson's burner? Is
that when we ha I love He's probably you gotta
get up ball. He's is a great job for us here.
He absolutely does. He's just anti tournament. You know, that's fine.
That's fine. Well, you know, to each his own. That's
what makes America, it really does, all right. He's Brian no.
(01:35:10):
You could get him on Twitter at the No Show.
That's n a we show at any firm an FSR
or eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven sixty sixty nine. We got a little bit of
bits and pieces in this hour, and of course Brian No,
one knows pics, so don't go anywhere. But you just
might be the part of the biggest losers in this
year's n C Double A Tournament. We'll tell you why
and how next are you a loser? We'll get to
(01:35:35):
that at just about a minute twenty past the hour.
This is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. Hey's
Brian no Andy Firman. We are live from the Farmer's insurance.
Fox Sports Radio Studios called Farmers Today for a quote.
As we roll along right now, we'll have a little
bit of bits and pieces at the bottom of the hour,
and so much to discuss, be so much are you gonna?
(01:35:56):
I guess we could say the quote office pool. I
guess we are to someone office pool with Fox Sports
Radios bracket. But if you're in an office pool going
to the office this year, this very interesting. A company
in Chicago estimates March Madness will cost us business is
more than thirteen billion, with a b thirteen billion dollars
(01:36:17):
in lost production because employees will be watching the basketball
games instead of working. That's amazing. I don't I don't
think there's any other sporting event that would cause that's
certainly the most sporting events are not doing the day
middle of the afternoon. But still in all I just
find that hard to believe. I really do. Listen, man,
some of these numbers, I swear they just ballpark it
(01:36:41):
and make stuff up, and they're just like, that sounds good,
let's throw with that, you know, like, do we really
know that's what it is? Seriously, do we know if
it's even in range of what it would be billion dollars.
That's a very specific number about how much you know
money in terms of reduction, is going to be lost
(01:37:01):
based on the tournament interest. I okay, whatever, you know.
I just don't know how you come up with that figure,
that's all I don't get any First of all, there's
not that many people in their offices at all anymore.
I mean, look, if you're gonna do instituts about how
much money is lost, let's talk about the pandemic. How
many people are not going through their offices and working
from home, and how much money is lost doing that,
because believe me, if you're working at home, you're working,
(01:37:22):
You're going to the refrigerator, you turn the TV on,
So there's a lot of money lost there as well. Yeah,
I mean whatever, man, I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna
get you back on try. I'm gonna get you pumped. Now.
I want to talk ball, all right, because the real
news in the NFL after this is Deshaun Watson mess
is the New Orleans Saints and the retirement of Drew
(01:37:43):
Brees has sort of gone under the radar because the
big question now for coach Sean Payton is twofold Taysom
Hill or Jamis Winston, and I know him much about
that anymore. I'm really it's all about the potential trades
of Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. Now his mess with
the alleged women's situation, but the big story really in
the NFL New Orleans, Winston A Hill, what's the deal?
(01:38:06):
The reason you don't here is because it's not a
big story. The big story is Deshaun Watson. It's Russell Wilson,
like those leaps and bounds more than Taysom Hill. And
it's like it caught a lot of attention with the
one forty million, but it's really just a one year deal.
Every year is avoidable after the season. Um, But listen,
(01:38:28):
it puts him in a better position to get a
closer look at being the starting quarterback because there is
some dead cap money that's uh tied to next year.
It's like just under eight million dollars, so it would
be in financially, it be in the Saints better interest
if Taysom Hill worked out and he was the quarterback
(01:38:49):
of the future. So you're not eating that money for
no good reason going forward. So their hope just contractually
would be that Taysom Hill is the guy who earns
the job and play as well, and they can look
at a long term extension. But yeah, I mean taking
over for Drew Brees. It's funny, Andy, because Drew Brees
didn't end in the most spectacular of fashions, but you
(01:39:12):
might see, like, oh gosh, Drew Brees, it really wasn't
that bad compared to what we have now when you
start to see Taysom or Jamis and they don't pan out,
they're not like true upper echelon franchise quarterbacks. You could
look back to even the final year, the final two
years of Drew Brees, where it wasn't peak Breese by
any stretch, but it wasn't the worst thing in the league.
(01:39:36):
You know, it wasn't bottom third of the league. So
you might look at that a lot differently when the
next guy has the job. Well, the good news is
for either one of these quarterbacks coming in, they do
some star playmakers on this ball club, which would help
right there. And you talked about tay Sam Hill. He
did start four games last when Bree got injured, but
he has a small sample size. He threw something like
(01:39:57):
a hundred and twenty passes and Peyton really has really
gone to the mountain saying that Hills is a potential
stunning quartab Well, what is he gonna say? He's not,
but they claimed him off waivers in seventeen, so he's
gonna be, uh, you know, a big fine if in
fact he becomes their stunning quartterback. But he's really just
a banger. He's a runner and he's receiving. That's basically
(01:40:19):
what he is. But Winston, he has led the NFL
with over five thousand pissing yards of nineteen, but he
also had those thirty three interceptions, so if he could
stop turning the ball over, yeah, he had thirty three touchdowns,
thirty picks and uh, he was just a turnover machine.
So you know, there's the good and the bad with Jamis,
we all know that. But with Taysom Hill, I think
(01:40:41):
it's funny, man. I think that like people act like
he can't throw the ball five yards because he excels
in other areas. He excels as a runner, um, he
excels as a Swiss army knife. It's funny. I find
that really interesting, just the psychology of it, where a
lot of fans think that way. A lot of media
thinks that way is if you excel it. It's almost
(01:41:02):
like this. Remember Mike Wallace, the old wide receiver, played
for the Steelers and then the Dolphins picked him up,
and no, he was known only as a deep threat.
This guy can only go deep and that's what he
did the best. But the Steelers they used him in
the screen game all the time. There was one year
where he had like nine touchdown receptions and all of
(01:41:25):
them were in the red zone or something like that.
It's like, it's just funny how sometimes reputations are formed
when you just look at what the guy excels in
most as if that's the only area he excels it.
I think a lot of people get tripped up on that.
I'm not sitting here telling you that Taysom Hill is
going to be Patrick Mahomes the second, but I just
(01:41:48):
think that to act like this guy is only this
special teams running backslash wide receiver and can't play quarterback whatsoever,
like Jhon Payton, It's not just lip service. Those guys
have backed it up with actions. They started him last year,
They paid him right like they tied money to the
(01:42:11):
cap with the deal that they gave him. So it's
more than just words, like they're putting it into action.
And I think Sean Payton knows a thing or two
about quarterbacks, right, so I think they can do more
than just be on your kickoff coverage team and that's it.
I think that when you mentioned that they're putting Tasson
Hill in some sort of a box, I think that
(01:42:32):
has a lot to do with the comparison they're making.
And I don't know why they're doing this, but they're
making a comparison to Tim Tebow. I really believe that
because of what Tebow did, the positions he played, and
the fact that Tim Tebow really was not a great passer.
And I think that's what they're doing to Tasson Hill.
They're pre judging him and comparing him to Tim Tebow.
Well maybe there's a little bit of that, but Taysom
(01:42:55):
Hill is a way better throw than Tim Tebow was
in the NFL, not even remotely close. I understand what
you're saying where it's the running thing, it's excelling in
other areas and it's not being sold on a guy
as a passer. Sure, I get all of those things.
But Dasam Hill is world's better as a thrower than
(01:43:17):
Tim Tebow was in the NFL, and he may very
would be a better baseball player than Tim Tebow was too.
Oh I don't know about that. Come on, now, you're
taking cheap shots at Tim t No. I like Tim Tebow.
I really do. Just a shame that he just couldn't
make it and didn't have the skill set to make it.
That's all. I mean, who's that? That's Tim Tebow? What
are you talking about? Come on, man, who are you here?
(01:43:41):
Is you here? First of all, I just have to
thank Jesus Christ. There you go. All right, he's probably
in church. It's Sunday, I would think. So. Anyway, I'm
very very excited about it. Oh my goodness. All right, okay, great,
so there we go. All right, you're happy you're a
Tim Tebow fan, right, I mean, like, is a good dude.
He just can't play. What do you want me to say? Right? Well,
(01:44:03):
he's in and out does the SEC games, right, that's fine. Yeah,
it's commentating. Great, nothing wrong with that. Alright, So we'll
see what happens today with Tim Tebo. By the way,
we have so much to go to and I want
to get my son in here with the sports. So
there's so much to talk about, so little time. But first,
my guy, my boy, Brian Fentley with the latest. Thank
you Andy and Brian, Thank you so much. Abilene Christians
(01:44:28):
Joe Pleasant, the worst free throw shooter on his team,
calmly drilling two shots out the line with one point
two seconds left as the fourteen seed of the Wildcats
overshadowing the third seed of Texas Long Orange fifty three
to fifty two in the first round of the n
C Double A Tournament, and overjoyed Apple and Christian head
coach Joe Golden put his monumental win in perspective, saying afterwards,
(01:44:52):
quote COVID is a real thing. We had social injustice,
We had a presidential election that divided our country. We
needed March madness. Close quote U c l A outpaces
b y U seventy three to sixty two, Johnny Jousing,
drumming up twenty seven points. Oregon makes its way to
the round of thirty two without even having to play
(01:45:13):
their opponent in the first round v c U because
of the Rams having COVID nineteen positive issues. Number one
seeded Gonzaga manipulates Norfolk State ninety eight to fifty five.
Oklahoma tap dances past Missouri seventy two to sixty eight
as Austin Reeves powers out twenty three points. Thirteen seeded
Ohio gets the job done against Virginia sixty two to

fifty eight. The Calves have been bounced in the first
round of the nt double A tournament twice in the
last four years. Maryland takes a two by four to
Yukon sixty three to fifty four. Eric Guyala with twenty
three points, second seeded Iowa finishing off Grand Canyon eight
six to seventy four. Luca Garza nourishing the Hawkeyes with
(01:45:57):
twenty four points and six rebounds, also wins for USC, Alabama, Colorado,
Florida State, Kansas, l s U, Creighton, and Michigan as
they all won against their lower seeded opponents. In the NBA,
Lebron James finding out he has suffered a high ankle
sprain and he will be out for an undetermined amount
of time. He went on Twitter to say this quote.
(01:46:19):
Nothing angers and saddens me more than not being available
to and for my teammates. I'm hurt inside and out
right now the road back from recovery begins now back
soon like I never left hashtag the kid from Akron
close quote and as I send it back to Andy
Ferman and Brian no, I just got a text message
(01:46:39):
from Bo Benson and he was telling me the reason
he is not a fan of the n C Double
A Tournament. He doesn't like the action, thinks it's boring,
is not because he actually feels that way. It's because
Bo isn't a bad mood because not only is a
d injured as a Lakers fan, now you have Lebron
James and he's really worried about the Clippers starting to
(01:47:00):
hold their rein over l A. Nope, not which do
you take greater exception to your Bruins being short changed
or your Clippers being short changed? Well, the Bruins are
winning right now, and nobody had them going into the
round of thirty two. So nobody did no one. I
had Michigan State beating them, You had Cincinnati winning at all,
(01:47:23):
and Cincinnati wasn't even in the tournament field. Just saying
thank you very much. Are you done? Are you done? Now?
Back to you? Not only did I get it from you? Wait, doll.
You hear this tweet that I'm gonna read that I
just got buried. I really do, but I'm not a
shade to admit it. I'm gonna read it. We'll do that,
so you've got some bits and pieces coming you away
in just about a minute. He's probably no Amandy Ferman
(01:47:45):
and welcome back to the Farmers Insurance Fox. What's radio
studios called one eight eight eight Farmers to switch and
you could save a bundle on your auto insurance. All right,
we'll have those pics in about ten minutes to be
if I may you. A man Baked like the tweet
that I was mentioned in. I don't know who wrote
it initially because he probably does have the guts to
(01:48:05):
put it in there. So Bake had a folded to me,
he says, And this is the tweet. I'm reading it
somewhat verbating with some ex words in there that I yeah,
old man, firman wah wah wah. College kids that are
being exploited for no money, These poor kids. Shut the
f up. When I was the money, I was killing
(01:48:27):
efforts in combat, as my brothers felt beside me, all
for twelve hundred a month. Shut the blank up. Oh man,
they spoiled. Let me tell you something right now, name
one business name, one entity in America where people work
and don't get paid, and the money that these college
kids are bringing in. So I have no problem saying
that these college kids are being exploited, being put up
(01:48:49):
in a bubble for whatever amount a week. Stay. Our
kid can't do a damn thing and they're not getting
paid and everybody's raking in the cash. All right, you
got paid. Maybe it was only twelve hundred a month,
I get it, but you got paid. These kids don't
get squatted. Okay, so taken. And if you had any gutch,
you'd give me a name. Wow, listen to you, listen
(01:49:11):
to all this animal now I feel that. Yeah, Okay,
here's the thing. Yeah, so there's a movement going on
right now. Hashtag not n C double a property. This
is started by three players that are all in the tournament, right,
um and uh. The concept is they want to at
(01:49:34):
least be able to profit off of their name, image
and likeness, which certainly should be allowed. That's the bare minimum.
I feel like we could have the discussion about these
kids bringing all this money for the for the n
C double A and they deserve a portion of that.
This isn't even that. This is allow us to make
(01:49:55):
a buck on our name, image and likeness. I think
that's the bare minimum. The way I was explain it
is like this, Andy, if you and I had a band.
Let's say that we're in a band together, and we
go and we play a show. These are normal times,
no pandemic going on. We go and we sell out
an arena. It'd be like the n C Double A
is like, that's cool, you sold this arena out and
(01:50:15):
generated all this money. But guess what, you don't get it, dime,
We're gonna take all of it. And we're like, well
that sucks. But can we at least make a profit
off of selling merchandise and you know, selling some CDs
out of our trunk? No, no, you can't even do that.
It's like, what, we can't even do that? Like that's
what's happening in college athletics, where they should at least
(01:50:35):
be able to profit off of their likeness at the
very minimum. Look, they are the show, they're the stars.
If the stars can't get a nickel, there's something wrong
with the system. And again, I'll say it again, Where
do workers in this great country of ours not get
paid for doing services that they do? And these kids
are doing basically a service for you met, the university
(01:50:56):
and college that they played for, and everybody else really,
and it's gonna happen one day. There's gonna be an
enterprising attorney who's gonna get these kids together when the
pandemic is over and they're gonna go on strike and
not play. That's that's what it's gonna take. Andy, That's
the whole thing. It's the n C double A. They've
proven that they will not act until they are forced
(01:51:17):
to act. So it's one thing to have a hashtag
not n C double A property. That's great. Isaiah Livers
from Michigan. He even wore a T shirt in the
pregame before the before Michigan took on St. Bonaventure, and
it was a shirt that had hashtag not n C
double A property. And again, it's fine. It It doesn't
(01:51:37):
force the n C Double A to do anything. If
we get to the final four or a little bit
later in the tournament and you have teams that are like,
we're not playing, all of a sudden, you'll see the
n C Double A change their tune really really fast
as far as all of that goes. Do you remember
that's a good example. You remember the US women's hockey
team and they had some demands and they're like, we're
(01:51:58):
not playing, how about that? And all of a sudden,
it's like, oh, so what were the demands again? Because
we can scratch a couple of those off the list.
That's what really forces change to happen. Well, the women's
basketball team made a point yes the other day, that
the men's had that big, beautiful weight room and they
don't have anything. And then you know the situation is
not as good as the men. I get it. And
(01:52:19):
now all of a sudden, ant double said they're gonna
make some adjustments. Look, don't play, don't go out there,
canceled the tournament, and maybe you'll get some some but
listening and think about Initially, there was a post and
they were comparing right, like the men's spacious weight room
and the women's was like a closet. And the n
(01:52:42):
C double A came back and they're like, oh, it's
more of a space issue. And so there was a
player from Oregon and she posted a video and she
was like, ohh so space is the issue, and she
did this panning shot there's nothing but space all over
the place, and she's like, that's not what is happening here. Like,
the point is the n C double A. They didn't
(01:53:05):
act initially until they were forced to. That's the whole point.
They were embarrassed and they went public with it. Then
all of a sudden, oh yeah, well we'll do something.
That's basically you're right until they're backed into a corner.
Like they will try every they'll try misdirection, they'll try
changing the subject, they'll try moving the goalposts until they
(01:53:25):
are cornered and there's no way out. Then they're like, oh, okay,
you're right, Like we apologize, we'll get you better accommodations.
It's only then. And the point is with this not
n C double A property movement. That's great. It doesn't
force the n C double A to do anything right,
(01:53:46):
And that's the way it is in old walks of
life and old types of business. Except I'll have an
exception for you, all right. I'm the way back when
when the traffic controllers went on strike, and I think
President Reagan at the time should fire them all, and
they got fired. That was the only time I saw
when a group of people in a business kind of
put management to the wall, so to speak, and they
(01:54:07):
didn't win. Other than that, they always win with Hey, man,
if we get to the final four and all these
teams say we're not playing until we can profit off
of our name, and it's gonna take an attorney to
get these guys organized and get it done. It really will.
That's what's gonna happen. You'll see that. Other than that,
we move on. And I want to thank that gentleman
or whoever sent me the tweet, because he got me
(01:54:29):
fired up a little bit. And now to come come forward.
You know, don't don't hide behind the keyboard. That's what
I'm saying. You know, it's okay, So I can handle it. Really,
you sounded like you can handle it. You said, well,
you know what, because we can agree to disagree, you
don't have to use the nasty words and you have
to kind of call me out have a discussion. But
people don't do that anymore. And they did it to
(01:54:50):
the kid in Ohio State too, So we move on.
Brian know, Andy Ferman a giant pile of what that's next?
Those picks coming right up. He's Brian No, I man
the Ferman. Of course we're live from the Farmer's Insurance
Fox Posts radio studios called one eight eight Farmers and
you could save a whole lot of something. I order
insurance of course, top of the hour, and it's not
o'clock on the East Coats. Mike Harmon and LaVar Arran
(01:55:11):
too will join you on the I Heart Radio app
on serious exempt Channel y three. And of course how
many of these same, many of these six hundred Fox
Sports radio affiliates. But right now it's time for Brian
no my partner and Nose Picks. Are you in desperate
(01:55:33):
need of gambling insights? Do not fear for Brian No
is here and now the time is cup for nose Picks.
All right, Andy Ferman, I believe in honesty. I have
some bad news. First, losing week last week. Yeah, after
the football season, Yeah, diving into hoops over here. I
(01:55:57):
was ten out of twelve for the first couple of weeks,
and then I was one and two last week. So
the Clippers, yeah, his clippers. They let me down in
a big way last week against the Pelicans and my
degenerate bed of the Blazers scoring the first twenty points
in their game didn't pan out, so one. Hey man,
(01:56:19):
sometimes you profit off those bets. I didn't think it
was that bad. That was part of my ten out
of twelve earlier. I love those degenerate bets. But I'm
going strictly none degenerate here today and tomorrow actually, so
I'm gonna start in the NBA. Miami Red Hot they
are on one right now. I am gonna take Miami
(01:56:40):
minus five against the Pacers. Miami Hot Pacers not so much.
Take the Heat minus five. Love that one. This is
a Sunday to Hawks. The Hawks are, yeah, but they're
not playing today, so I didn't go with them. Um
the Toronto Raptors, I'm not in love with them, but
I it's a Sunday tradition is just bet against the
(01:57:01):
Calves until they prove us wrong, right like you gotta
lay seven and a half for the Raptors. They're at
Cleveland today. I'm still doing it. I have profited. I've
beefed up my record just betting against the Cavaliers, so
I'm doing it again. You're with me on that one, okay?
Last one here tomorrow. N C Double A Tournament. I
(01:57:23):
like L s U getting five against Michigan. I actually
have L s U winning this game outright, Um, so
we'll see if the type. Yeah, I love what they
do offensively, I'm not completely sold on Michigan. I think
they are right for the upset picking. So I'm going
to take the five points and go with L s U.
(01:57:46):
So we go. You smell three and oh right there,
yeah I do. But I'll tell you what the the
I'm haunted by Bull Benson's comments because when you bet
the NBA, what you're really betting. You're not betting matchups,
You're not really betting a skilled game. You're betting how
many threes go in. You get two teams that could
buy eight three three points. That's crazy. If they go win,
you win. If they don't go in, And I see
(01:58:06):
what both coming from on the yes way, Bo was
with me on that, right, Bo, that's ridiculous. Yeah, no, Bo,
we have time, you can wax, you can get on one.
You didn't say that's absurd. Andy Ferman like, you know,
we have time. It's time to go. I said a
(01:58:27):
pile of what listen to this pile? Petrie City man
says a penny pole was the result of a bit
of feud over penny pile, A penny pile, penny pennies, yes,
a bit of fuel of a final paycheck from a
previous job. The man was paid in pennies in his driveway.
He worked for Walker Luxury Auto Works in Petrie City
(01:58:48):
for a year. He known the only for eight years.
According to the guy, Andreas Flaton, the constant turnover in
toxic work environment took this toll, so he quit. He
quit in January, was going to be paid his final
pay check. It never came, he said. His boss accused
him of damages. So what did happened now? It took
him five months and a call to the Georgia Department
of Labor Labor before he was paid. His full check
(01:59:11):
was nine and fifteen bucks in pennies. That comes out
to be like five hundred and four pounds of pennies.
How do you like that? Nice boss? Wow, that's certainly petty.
You know it's penny petty. Yeah, yeah, we can see
what you did there. I got a couple of stories
for you, Andy Firm, and I'm taking you to Cape Coral, Florida.
(01:59:34):
You'll love this one. A Florida couple first time homeowners
new to the neighborhood. They want to meet their neighbors.
You know, sometimes your neighbor comes over with a pie,
Welcome to the neighborhood, that type of thing. And they
took matters into their own hands. They invited some of
their neighbors over by offering free beer. And they even
had a sign. It just simply said free beer. And
(01:59:55):
so Thomas Evans, the man of the household, he says,
we had a you people do a double take. Free
beer is a pretty easy way to get people to
show up. So there you go. There was their icebreaker.
People showed up, Everything was great, introduced themselves to the neighborhood.
Got another one for you, by the way, what's your
favorite beer of choice? What do you go with? I
like Blue Moon a lot. All these years, I didn't
(02:00:17):
know that. Okay, I learned something about you. I like that. Okay.
Another story for you here Chicago huh an eight year
old Chicago girl. Her mother was at work. There was
a fire in their apartment complex. So what does she
do She's eight years old again. She tosses a mattress
out the window and it's able to jump down safely.
(02:00:42):
And then the firefighters. They showed up. They were able
to rescue her five year old brother and a two
year old boy who were both at the window. They
were poised to jump as well, and luckily the firefighters
showed up and they didn't have to. So an eight
year old, five year old and two year old all
safe him the third story of a burning building. How
(02:01:02):
do you like that? Thank you? That was a great story.
It really was. But you know what, you do a
great job on these stories. And today it's gonna be
a great day for you to sit down, have a
couple of diet cokes as you enjoy them, and watch
the games. I'm sure you'll be doing that only water
during Lent for me, Andy Furman, you know, do you
like that? All right, our time is up. We want
to thank everybody for theirs. Hopefully God willing will see
(02:01:24):
you again right here next week where on Fox Sports Radio.
Here joining a day and enjoy the games.
