Speaker 1 (00:03):
Kyler Murray's contract. It said he needed to study a
little bit more. That was a requirement. It's been removed.
We're gonna talk about it my people. DK Metcalf gets
a huge extension for the Seattle Seahawks. But is he
worth it? Man? Yeah, we gotta have a conversation and

(00:24):
usc They have a five star recruiting Molokai Nelson. You
know we know who he is. T J. You know
what I mean, he visited Texas A and M. What's
going on here in I L recruiting wars? Does the

some hard hitting topics to get to today. But first fellas,

(02:12):
how are y'all feeling? I feel great, theavar man, I
feel really good. You see. That's different than last week. Right,
it sounded like you had hernia, man, Like you need
to go get that like you need to get that
checked out. Man. I don't know if it's direct or
if you had it since you were a kid, but
I mean that that sounds like I felt when I
had a hernia. Man, you know, I don't know what
a hernia is. I mean, I don't know, but I

(02:33):
don't know what it feels like, what it sounds like.
And now what it sounds like plex and it sounds
kind of bad. How are you feeling? How are you
feeling plex? How are you feeling? Stretching everything? Good man?
How y'all doing? Listen, anytime I get to wake up
and you know, get on, get on the correct to
make with you guys. Man, it's a beautiful day. Yeah, man, Well,
I mean we're gonna jump into this this uh Cardinals

(02:56):
deal now, obviously Kyler Murray got is his deal done,
a big deal, a blockbuster deal, but it didn't come
without a caveat fellas Um. It was interesting. He had
at homework clause in his contract that required him to
contractually watch film for four more hours. Kyla Murray had

(03:18):
some comments on it this week. Here's what he had
to say. And then I want to hear what you
guys want are thinking as well, to think that I
can accomplish everything that I've accomplished in my career and
not be a student of the game and not not
have that passion and not not take this serious is
almost it's disrespectful, and it's it's almost it's it's almost
a joke. I refuse to let my work ethic and

(03:41):
my preparation being questioned. You know, I've put an incomprehensible
amount of time and blood, sweat, tears and work into
what I do, whether it's football or baseball. People can't
even cover him the amount of time that it takes
to to do two sports at a high level in college.
Let alone do it, you know, be the first person
to do it ever. In my size, I'm six seven
to thirty. I don't throw the ball any five yards.

(04:03):
I'm already behind the eight ball. Uh, And I can't,
you know, I can't afford to take any shortcuts, no
pun intended. You know that those are those those things
you can't accomplish if you don't take the game serious,
if you don't prepare the right way. All right, fellas, here,
here's here's what I'm gonna ask, because it's it's probably
the question that people are going to touch on. Everybody

(04:24):
is thinking it, and we're gonna talk about it. I've
heard some pundits touch on it and and and discuss it.
And it was interesting to hear some of the opinions.
But is this because Kyler Murray is a black quarterback?
I mean, I mean, I Muna just put it out there.
Is it? Is it because he's a black quarterback that
they put this clause in there? Or what's your take

(04:46):
on it shouldn't have been if if it's something that
they felt that he did not do as an observation,
do they have the right to put that into the
contract to say, we're investing in you, so we want
to make sure you're putting in the time to be
successful and we can at least break even on the

(05:06):
money that we're spending on you. I mean, when you
bring grace into the equation, obviously it's just speculation. Oh
yes it is. Oh no, it isn't. It's obviously speculation. Sure,
But when when when you delve into it. For years
and years and years, black quarterbacks were always physically gifted.

(05:27):
Oh they could run, Oh they can do this, and
then they hit you with but you're just not as
smart as the white quarterbacks. And that was always the narrative.
And now we're starting to see more and more black quarterbacks,
but number one. For them to put that in the

(05:47):
contract dis embarrassing. That's embarrassing, and it's disrespectful as well.
And I said it last week, I didn't think it
was a great contract. If I'm Kyler Murray, my agent
gotta go. He gotta go because he knew that was
in there. He saw that was in there. And you

(06:08):
let me go through this embarrassment as if I'm just
up here just winging it that that that's an embarrassing
stipulation to putting a contract in What were they trying
to do? Were they trying to embarrass them because they
knew eventually when you started looking at the fine print
of a contract, it's going to come out. And so
I don't know if it's a raised thing. And I'm

(06:30):
not going to go down that hole and say, oh
it is, But what I will say is, have we
seen it in a white quarterbacks contract? Nah? Nah? And
there's some black quarterbacks that maybe mentally don't get it,
and there are also some white quarterbacks that mentally don't
get it. You're raised, doesn't matter, guys. Know, when you
play sports, there's a ton of work that goes into

(06:52):
it from a physical perspective and a mental perspective, and
if you don't do that, you're not going to have
the success. The Arizona Carton were trash when Kyler Murray
got there, That's why they had the number one pick.
They're no longer trash. And so you can say it's
Kyler Murray. You can say it to other people. But
I thought that was embarrassing. I thought, m man, I

(07:13):
I'm not even gonna del into the whole you know, uh,
you know, black white quarterback thing. I just want to
get into the contract itself. And to you, I totally disagree.
You said it's embarrassing. I don't think it's embarrassing. Kyla
Murray said it's disrespectful and it's a joke. It's not
disrespectful or joke because clearly the Arizona Carner don't trust

(07:35):
you as a quarterback and your work ethic is in question. Hey,
you don't trust That's what That's what it tells me.
Because from a quarterback standpoint, if if you are not
prepared and you do not have a pre snap read
before the play is and before the ball is snap,

(07:59):
then all ways say if you're thinking you're late, this
is a reaction lead and for the Arizona car not
to put that in his contract. They have seen and
witnessed him as far as his film study is concerned.
It wouldn't be in his contract if it wasn't. He's
not prepared enough, and that's how they feel about it.

(08:22):
And and it shows. Look, I mean, look at the
last playoff game that he that he played in, and
it's not disrespectful. It's not a joke. Um. I don't
think it has anything to do with black and white.
I really don't. It's just they feel that he is

(08:43):
not prepared as a quarterback. Listen, listen. I was a
film guru. I would watch film by myself, Me and
Eli Manning would watch film on Friday. He's just me
and him when nobody else was in the building, sore watching.
I know about going into a game and being prepared,

(09:03):
you have to, I say, all the great players are
great anticipators. Film study brings about, um, have you having
an understanding and knowing what the guy across from you
was going to do, and that gives you and you're
trying to look for any advantage that you possibly can.
And from the Arizona Cardinals, they don't feel that he's

(09:26):
doing that, So I don't find it to be disrespectful
or a joke for him as a as a passing quarterback.
Is he a better passing quarterback? Or is he a
better runner? So? Which one is it? He's a better
passing quarterback? Kind of America? Throw the ball. He's just
short like that's okay. Nobody, nobody's saying anything about his hype. No, no, no,

(09:46):
This is what I'm saying. Is what they're saying is, listen,
if you study more film, you will be a more
you will be a better prepared quarterback, and you will
take your your passings abilities to the next level. They
don't that is what they want from him. They don't
trust them. We all have kids. If I don't trust
my kids, I'm not gonna give you the liberty and

(10:08):
leeways that I would give another child that I trust.
We have multiple kids. If they didn't trust Kyler Murray,
why give them the contract? Why give him a contract?
You can't Where are they going to go? Where are
they going to go from? Colin Murray? Don't put all
your eggs one You don't. If you don't trust somebody,

(10:30):
we can't go any further. I can't go anything. If
I have to put that in your contract. Why do
I want you on my team? Do not have a
better option than Colin Murray. They don't have a better
option going forward, So they feel that he is not
prepared enough as a quarterback for them to go out

(10:52):
and win games. Could it be this? Could it be that? Ryan? Yes?
What is Kyler Murray's winning What? How much does he
win in the first part of the season. What let's
go by month? Well, let's look at last year. You guys,
remember the Cardinals came out to a really hot start
last year and September. In October, they they went seven

(11:13):
and one UM and in those over the Over that span,
Cavlal Murray through for uh twelve hundred seventy six yards,
seventeen touchdowns and seven interceptions. Uh. And then the second
half of the season he did have an injury. UM.
He he played six games in the second half of
the season. The Cardinals went two and four In those
games with he had fifteen hundred and eleven yards seven

(11:34):
touchdowns to three interceptions. Hey, Ryan, I'm guessing he was
watching film early in the season and he got complacent. No, No,
it ain't that. You know, people are going to make adjustments.
People are going to make adjustment. He doesn't do the season,
come out in the first half of the season and
you go seven and one. You have people's attention and
people and defenses are going to make adjustment, and he

(11:56):
has to make that adjustment. As far as being able
to determine coverages, Man, maybe I'm just saying this because
I understand the game of football reading coverages. It's not hard.
It's not that difficult. Different variations. Not having the success
in at the next level, it's not hard. I'll say

(12:17):
this as a as as as someone who also understands
the game a quarterback. If you're reading, if you're reading,
if you're reading a coverage, I think where it gets
complicated is if there are variations so understanding it could
be a too safety, uh to two coverage, you know cloud,

(12:42):
you know, type of of coverage, and you might be
reading too but you might have variations, like for the
simple fact, you might have a zone being played that
that too zone on one side of the field and
you may be combo on it and it would have
been on the other side. But hold on, hold on,
hold on that, Like we're just let's start. Let's start

(13:03):
there because you're right, there is the protections of it.
But that's also a lot of on the center. I
think it's no, you know a lot of a lot
of being able to see what's going on up front.
You watched, you watch where the line is lined up,
and you're looking at where that in the center communicates
with the quarterback. That I didn't say coverage, that plex

(13:27):
brought up past protections and stuff like that, like what
the front looked like. So every every quarterback, peyt Man
and Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, the best of the best
have all been confused at times. Of course, so you're
you're going you're you're going to misread something that happens.
But I just don't believe you can have that type

(13:47):
of success. The Cardinals aren't a running team. They are
a passing team. I don't believe you can have that
type of success if you're not prepared. Unless he's just
physically he's that damn gifted to where, man, it don't
matter what I do, I'm gonna get it done. That
get what we're not saying that he's not prepared. What
we're saying that he's not prepared enough, Well, all I'm saying,

(14:11):
is this is me. If I don't trust you, if
I have to put that into contract, it's a no go.
So okay, we're gonna play this year out and see
if you can um up your steady habits. Let's see
if you can do this on your own without being
forced to do it. So you show me that you've
earned this, because that that's scary that you have to
put that into contract, because then you shouldn't do it
if you feel that way. And it's only four hours.

(14:32):
It's only four hours. We're running long. We're running long.
So here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna continue the conversation.
In fact, Patrick Mahomes weighed in on the topic as well.
He was asked about it wasn't wasn't something he offered.
He was solicited for the question. He gave an answer, Uh,
we'll get to that and more on the other side

(14:55):
of this break. You're listening up on game that's t J.
Hutchman's Out of Plexico Bird I'm LaVar ring to. Yeah,
we'll be right back, all right. I get it. Yeah, yeah,
with four hours of studying, I get it. I get it.
With four hours of studying. That was the amount of

(15:17):
town that was put in the contract that he needed
to get at least four more hours of additional study
time and uh with the clause. The clause has since
been removed from Kyler Murray's contract. Welcome back into the show.
You're listening to up on game. That's right. The voices
that you will be hearing and have been hearing, are

(15:39):
that those of T. J. Hushman Zatta. You guys know
he is respected, revered, admired Cincinnati Bengal great receiver, should
I say, and obviously the tall one, the one they
called stretch Armstrong. Well, I think I'm the only one
that calls him stretch Armstrong. But he's caught big patches,

(16:01):
none bigger than the one that he caught in the
Super Bowl to beat the New New England Patriots, the
undefeated New England Patriots, some say, the biggest win in
the history of Super Bowls and the history of the
history of the game. New York Giants, great Pittsburgh Steeler
draft picks sensation. That's Plexico Burr's all right, I'm LaVar Arrington,

(16:23):
and I really don't need to introduce myself. You know why,
because those guys are the ones that are important, and
I want to get this thing going and rolling. More
on this Kyler Murray deal. I want to hear what
you guys have to say about what Patrick Mahomes had
to say. Here's what Pat Mahomes had to say about
the situation. Definitely because you are I don't want to

(16:44):
go that far and say that. I mean, obviously the
black quarterback has had a battle to be in this
position that we are to have this many guys in
the league playing, and I think every day we're proving
that we should have been playing the whole time. We've
got guys that think, I think just as well as
they can use their athleticism and so uh, it always
is weird when you see guys like me Lamar Kyler
kind of get that on them and other guys don't.

(17:05):
But the same time, we're gonna go outre and prove
ourselves every day to show that we can be some
of the best quarterbacks in the league. Well you guys think, man,
I mean he is in that situation. I mean you
saw somebody come out and said, oh, yeah, Patrick Mahomes
us a good quarterback. If you take away his first read,
he starts running around it's always uh if to it,

(17:29):
but to it. I just they're in this when when
I say they the black quarterbacks, and so they know
what they have to go through. Let let your play speak,
I mean, Lamar Lamar Jackson m v P. And they're
still talking about, Oh man, he can win m v
P twelve times and I still wouldn't give him the contract.

(17:51):
I still wouldn't say he's the best. And you've got
all these anonymous defensive coordinators. They want to be anonymous
because when they're wrong, they don't want to get fired.
Oh I made a mistake. Oh you think? And so
I mean when we just specifically the Kyler Murray thing,
I just when I just sit here and think about it, Man,

(18:11):
it's almost unbelievable that I can't get over that conduct
being in there. That there's just no way if I
don't trust you, I'm not gonna force something onto you
that you don't want. How can I want something more
than you? How can I want you to succeed and
want you to study and you don't want to do it.

(18:33):
I just don't understand that. And when they're negotiating a contract,
that stuff can be said privately. Oh he doesn't put
the work in. And so until he shows me he
can put the work in, we're not gonna give him
a deal, simple as that, and he can man out
and what is that gonna do? Lower your value? And
so I just don't understand all of that. That that's
just me. I'm getting rid of my agent because you

(18:55):
caused me a lot of embarrassment. You you really have,
So first of all, why do they how do they
put it in the contract initially? I mean obviously they
had taken out of the contract. So that's what I
don't understand anything. You just uh, you know, leading everybody
up in the end with the whole situation. You think
that they thought nobody was gonna like calm through it,

(19:16):
and just there's too many NFL insiders that make their
money off of stuff like that. That's that there's no
way that could be a legit reason behind it. They
know that people that's what they do. It's too big
of a contract for people not to comb through it.
But but but listening to Patrick Mahomes and he's talking
about Kyler and lamar Um, you know, being a black

(19:40):
quarterback player in this league, you gotta understand, like every
quarterback brings a different dynamic to their position. So with
that being said, I love what Kurt Wanna said. Kurt
Wanna said that you know, um uh, you know, he
didn't have any legs, so so he had to stand
in the pocket and and read defenses, and and he

(20:02):
he had to be as sharp as he had to
be because he wasn't able to get out of the
pocket and out run out run defenses and get down
the field forty or fifty yards Versus Lamar Kyler and
and Patrick Mahomes when once things get you know, kind
of iffy in the pocket, they have that ability to
be able to get out of the pocket. You know,

(20:24):
Warner also had three three Hall of Famers and and
and arguably the next tier close to Hall of Famers.
When he was going about we're talking about from a
pocket presence is what he's saying. As far as when
I'm just saying, when comes the film study, I get
that reading reading defenses. What he's saying is that he

(20:45):
had to stand in the pocket. So he had to
be able to be able to be able to read
defenses as soon as the ball was because he didn't
have another option. Uh As far as from from a
physical standpoint, so he had to be extra shop reading
defenses and getting the ball to the wild. That what
you're saying. He had three Hall of Fame wild receivers

(21:08):
in the back and in the back. But what we're
just talking about standing in the pocket and being able
to read defenses. That is what he was referring to. Yeah,
I just I think it's kind of peculiar that you
would put a specific number of time at four hours.
I could see if you said twelve hours, sixteen hours,

(21:31):
ten hours, give me ten hours. There's something peculiar there.
This has to be a strategic move. Go ahead, Go ahead, monitors.
This like when you watch film on the you know,
you know you can person out of your building after practice,
after the day is over. Is he's the first person

(21:51):
I don't know that you got to watch it in
the in the building. If he is the first person
out of the building. If he is, do you want
him as your friend choice's quarterback? The answer is no,
that's correct, But do you want him staying there four
hours later? Listen, I would say I did it? Is it?

(22:11):
If if my wife says she going on a vacation
with her friends and I'm like, Uh No, I can't
have her go because then she gonna get loose. She
don't need to be my wife. Go ahead and go,
you go, you go have your your time. Hey, look,
my whole thing is I get my best I had
my best film studies at my house, like and and

(22:34):
I did it at like like there, here's the thing
about when you do it. I did it at my house.
And I would do it in the in the in
the uh, in the meeting rooms as well. I like
to fall asleep and then wake back up and keep going.
You know. That's like kind of like my thing, Like
I'll stop, I'll go get some food, I'll come back,
I'll sit back down. I watch it. I kind of watch.

(22:54):
I watched film and study film like i'd even watch
a movie like it turned into something that I enjoyed.
I enjoyed doing it, so I'm gonna be rewind and rewinded.
I would wake up with the with the remote in
my hand and just rewind it back to the play
that that I fell asleep on. Right, So I would
watch film for who knows how long, but look about

(23:17):
six to seven days or six days five days of
watching them, five days coming into Monday, you get your
scouting report four hours, like you could do four hours
and one day and one day, those those those four hours.

(23:38):
We all know that film study comes. We received Replex
and we was watching success at this level and being
able to compete at this level. You have to watch
film for them to put in the contract. That's saying
something to me, and I agree. I agree with that

(23:59):
professor with that. Hey t J, they can't you know
that they can have to be discussed. How much film
are you watching? There? There's huddle like you whatever they're
Their technology is you can log, you can look and
log see the times that the players are looking. No,
I understand that. Part of what we're saying is this,

(24:19):
how do they know he's watching it? Because you can
just run the film. You can run the film. Yeah, yeah,
I don't know. I mean at least may run the
film to watch it with the coach, old office, the coordinator.
And maybe that's why it's four hours. Maybe that's the
sensible reason why it's four hours, probably an hour each day.
And that is not I gotta be honest with you.

(24:41):
I can't say I'm I'm upset with that. No, it's not.
I'm not gonna say they said additional additional To keep
that in mind, that's a key point to this additional
four hours. That mean after the office of meeting, after
the quarterback meeting, when everybody after practice said it's it's
like they're reserving. Make sure we put this one out, Ryan,

(25:06):
because I think we cracked the code on this one.
That I think that's what it is they want. They
want that four hours where he's putting an hour of
extra time in with a coach at the facility. And
that's why it's not an egregious amount of time, and
that's why they're going to monitor it. But this is
the thing, though he probably is already doing that. You

(25:28):
would hope if he's not a babysit he's not. It's
not child, it's not he's not he's not far. What's
your oldest how old is she? My oldest girl? My
oldest daughter is is sixteen old? No, No, I know,
I know, you know. Let me ask. At a point
in time, you don't leave your kids at home alone.

(25:51):
They need a babysitter. And then they get of age
and you say, okay, we think you know we can
trust them. Like if you give a guy a hundred
and sixty guaranteed forty six point one million on average
and new money. If you can't trust him to do
the right things, you got the wrong guy. If my

(26:12):
wife says I'm going to hang out with my friends
and I'm sitting at the crib wondering what she's doing,
I got the wrong wife. But what if you feel
good about who they are and they just need a
little bit more time and a little bit more assistance.
I wish I would. I mean, I'm just saying, what
that's It's possible that the interpretation of it, Yeah, the

(26:33):
interpretation of it could be just that he needs a
little bit more time to mature, or he needs some
parameters in place that are gonna help him turn into
and that they believe he can play. If we're talking football,
which we are in Kyler Murray, I'm gonna give you
that time to mature and get your stuff together this year,

(26:53):
but it won't be with a new contracts And then
guess what, I'm a franchise you to make sure you
wasn't playing me. Na, no, no, Because there's the idea.
They know he has the opportunity, they know he has
hold on plex hold on, hold on, He I think
they're what they're doing is they know that he has

(27:14):
the ability and the opportunity to be that, so they're
paying for it now versus when they get to the
other side of it, and after what they're gonna have
to do with the franchise tag or not giving him
the extension this year, then you're gonna have to pay
a whole lot more money than what you're paying right now.
You got a favorable contract for for several different reasons.

(27:34):
Go ahead, Plex, And then we got to get to
an update. I know, I Love was waiting and we're
apologizing that. I just think that the crazy thing about
this whole situation is that every time he throws an
interception on Sunday, this is gonna be the topic that
comes any mistake, any mistake, no film this week and Plex,
That's why I said it's embarrassing, because it's gonna be

(27:55):
NonStop embarrassment. I mean that is some homie to clown
type stuff, like like the moment you you you make
a mistake, not even throwing interception, the moment in disrespectful.
And I'm saying it's going to be an embarrassment to him,
but it's going to be an embarrassment to him. I

(28:15):
don't disagree with that, and I do not see you
with him go through this embarrassment like and I don't
disagree with that either, man and I don't disagree with
that either. All right, let's get enough dates. No other
alternative but to play well. Well, you know, hey, he
got his money though. Hey, let's go to Isaac Glowing
crowd for an up date. What's what we got, legends?

(28:37):
Good morning, fellow legends. We have some fresh NFL news today,
starting with the Washington Commanders signing veteran offensive tackle Rashad Hill.
Hill spent the past six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
But some bad news coming this morning out of the
Bay Area Kyle Shanahan announcing the forty Niners defensive tackle
Maurice Hearst Junr tore his biceps in practice yesterday and

(28:58):
is expected to be out for the season. Hurst had
seven and a half sacks his first two years in
the league, but has played in only thirteen games since then.
In the NBA, on Friday night, esp had reported the
league as open an investigation into possible tampering and early
contact violations by the Philadelphia seventy sixers concerning the signings

(29:19):
of James Harden, P J. Tucker, and Daniel House. Baseball.
Friday night, the Seattle Mariners acquired all star right hander
Luis Castillo from the Cincinnati Reds. The New York Post
reports all star right hander Joe Musgrove close to a
five year, one hundred million dollar deal with the San
Diego Padres. Mlb dot Com reporting New York Mets pitcher

(29:40):
Jacob deGrom intends to come off the injured list and
make his season debut on Tuesday at Washington. It would
be his first appearance since July of last season. Fellow
legends back to you appreciated. I okay, fellas, listen, we're
heading up against a break. But just super quickly, I'll
give you my conclusion on as you can give me yours.

(30:01):
Um my conclusion on it is kind of falls in
line with what Plexico said. They they saw something, they experienced,
something that made them feel as though there's more that
he can do to be one more of the player.
And I think that if you feel is though, like
I'll give you a great example for me. I didn't

(30:21):
like staying in in town during off seasons and and
they put a major amount of money into my off
season training because they wanted me there. And you know what,
I went from like five percent participation to I wanted
I got Every team does that everything, but but what
I'm saving team. It's evolution. Maybe there was a point

(30:43):
in time where those clauses were not in contracts and
there was at player. Hold on, I'm gonna get y'all,
y'all's chance. Hold on. All I'm saying. All I'm saying
is there was probably a point in time where there
was a where there was a first player that they
did not have, you know, coming to off season programs,

(31:03):
and they was like, oh my gosh, they're putting his
contract that he's got to be here for for workouts
to get money. Like that's crazy that that they're doing that,
and then it became a norm. There's a possibility that
with the evolution of what's taking place, with more money
comes more problems with more with more money comes more expectations.
Is it just is it just a simple fact? A

(31:26):
simple case of this is the evolution of what's taking place.
Kyler Murray is the first one. We're giving you all
of this money. We want to make sure we're protecting
our investment. I want to be able to sit down
with you extra time and be able to see how
are you for pr I'm not saying it for for
the Cardinals. I'm just saying, does it. I think it

(31:48):
makes a little bit of sense. If you're gonna put
that much money, as you mentioned, if you're gonna put
that much money into a player, then why not try
to protect your investment. That's just one aspect of them
trying to protect investment that they're putting their money and
put their money towards. That's my conclusion. I actually do
not think that this is racially driven. I really don't.

(32:09):
I do think that. I do think that there are
a lot of things that that black quarterbacks and and
and black coaches or whatever it may be, where they're
the conversation is relevant, But in this one, I don't
think it's relevant to this one. That's my conclusion. Y'all
got it. My thing is this, if you those workout bonuses,
teams are putting that in just because they wanted to

(32:30):
make sure you guys were gonna be in shape and
guys were doing what they're supposed to do, that it
sounds like the same that sounds like the same thing.
Um uh. To be honest, I didn't have a workout bonus.
I didn't want to workout bonus, just like la Vos said.
I didn't stay in town whether the season was over anyway,
because I'm in Pittsburgh and I'm in New York and

(32:51):
turned turned at the end of the season in January February,
it's freezing, so i'm i'm I'm looking at my coach
and in when the training staff, they listen, I can
get in better shape down in Florida, and I'm gonna
come back here in better shape than me being here
in Pittsburgh or New York. And then once you establish

(33:12):
that responsibility with the team in ownership, like listen, he's
down there working, he's gonna be in better shape when
he comes back. So that's what I had at my
contract when I was playing. I didn't have any workout
bonuses because listen, I don't. I can't run up here
in the cold, in Pittsburgh and in New York and

(33:33):
in February and March. I'd rather be down in Florida
training outside. Running with a woman is hot. And I
guarantee you when when I come back for the next season.
I would be in better shape than I was then
if I would have stayed here. Final word, t J.
They embarrassed him. They know they embarrassed him. But you

(33:54):
can't put the toothpaste back in the UH in the too,
So they'll get over it. Kyler Murray just gonna prove
them wrong with your play. If not, the cause was
there for a reason. And that's about it. Really. I
just I don't get it. His agent gotta go all right.
USC five star recruit Malachi Nelson. I know who he is.

(34:16):
He whooped on us in a seven on seven tournament.
He visited Texas and them. What's going on here? We'll
talk about that next. We're listening or you're listening to
to UH Fox Sports Radio, this is UP on Game.

(34:37):
great shows, great times, great conversations. Guys. USC star recruit
Malachi Nelson. So you're saying he just surpassed Archie Manning
as the number one guy in in the nation. T J. Yeah,
he's the number one QV now in the country. He's
on the visit the Texas and them. He was committed

(34:58):
or is committed to us. What's y'alls take on it? Man,
It's funny. When I when I saw that, I just
shot him with text message. I said, Oh, you're trying
to get that bad from and m everybody. I mean,
he goes to high school plex that my kids went to. Oh,

(35:18):
I actually I met him when he was TJ knows
everybody teach, go on the on the field during the
seven on seven games and correct the dude right front
of his coaches. Hey, I'm about the kids, plex. I'm
about helping the kids. Man. But yeah, you know that's
how I met t J. By the way, that's how
we met. I met him in the seventh grade. Man

(35:38):
started giving him and his father advice um on which
high school to attend. But yeah, when I texted me,
he just shot me back ha ha ha. And I
just truly believe with the amount of money that these
guys are getting from n I L before they even
get to college. Like it's none of my business and

(35:58):
I'm not gonna but dudes in high school, Like, there's
kids in high school that's getting paid a bag, right,
Now I've heard some Plexico they got another year of
high school and they already got n I L deals.
They got enough. These dudes are driving a hundred thousand
dollar cars out here and then in high school. Yeah,
and so to me, it's about that n il Man.

(36:22):
I saw a couple of weeks ago that this kid
in Miami is a quarterback and this kid sounds like
a nine point five million dollar deal in r L deal.
Jane shot him like, yeah, I'm like, what it to
go play his senior year in high school and he
sounds a nine point five signed with the University of

(36:46):
Miami once he committed, and so once he gets into Miami,
I'm sure he's getting some of that money now, I mean,
and it's it's you don't know that this is against
the rules, right, Like it's against the rules to to
need somebody to a university through it n I L deal.
It's against the rules. But there is always going to

(37:06):
be loopholes to be able to get around these these deals.
And I'm looking at it like this, fellas, if I can,
if I can attract the best quarterback in the country
to come to my school, if I could get two dudes, right,
if I could get a quarterback or like a star
receiver or you know, probably those two are probably the

(37:29):
biggest ones that I would think. If you could get
that quarterback, then you can You're recruiting class could fall
into place. You ain't got to do all that craziness
to get the rest of the guys. You just got
to get a bell cow coming to your school. Now.
Now the question what's that I told myself, I said,
do you have any interest in going to PAS? I said, right,

(37:57):
you might, you might have. You might get to do
it like your daddy did it. Right man for y'all
that I don't know, Plex sends us video Plex Sun
can play some football, y'all, he go, he can play
some football. So if Texas y'all listening to all y'all
top schools, but y'all better get Yeah, you better start

(38:19):
recruiting now. I don't want that he's gonna be able
to turn that ball loose. And if you're a wide receiver,
you definitely want to be somewhere where they're throwing the football. Well,
we all know that that Eli is Eli's uh step
daddy is is well not a step Day's god daddy.
You know you know Plex and Eli real close, so
he went ahead and named his kid after Eli Manning,

(38:41):
you know, his favorite football player of all times. Shots out,
Shots out to Elijah Burris. Good luck to you, young man.
You do got some serious game with you all right
up on game. More coming at you next hour. This
