The prevalence of preterm birth in the United States constitutes a public health problem as it occurs in up to 12% of all pregnancies. Although significant improvements have been made in treating preterm infants and improving survival and overall outcomes, we are still far from fully understanding and preventing preterm birth. This discussion will explore strategies to further improve outcomes for infants, their families, and practitioners.
