Hosted by: Tim Rush
Guest: Aimee Payne
Dr. Aimee Payne is assistant director of the medical scientist training program at the University of Pennsylvania and the core director of the Penn Skin Disease Research Center, where she focuses on the autoimmune blistering disease pemphigus vulgaris, a potentially fatal disorder in which autoantibodies against desmosomal cell adhesion molecules cause blistering of the skin and mucous membranes. She takes host Tim Rush on a tour of her career path combining clinical dermatology and research medicine. They discuss the balance of clinical work and research, as well as the role of women in research.
