They looked VERY good against Philly. :30- ABC’s of the Mariners - N is for Nicky 6th- Nick Davila stepped up last night and delivered in the 6th inning - O is for over-aggression- our 3rd base coach was over-aggressive in sending runners in the 2nd inning, but luckily it worked out for us. - P is for Power- Julio has some of it. :45- How many primetime games do we want for the Seahawks and will we be mad if they don’t have enough of them?

Speaker 1 (00:14):
All right an' clock hour here on this Tuesday edition
up Chucking Buck in the mornings, No Bucket Jacobson, but
Ashley Ryan's here. My name is Chuck Powell and it's
great to have you with us here her on this Tuesday.
We got cash to give away. They're not gonna give
it to us, you might as well take it. Coin
is your keyword this hour in the Grand Slam Cash contest.
Co O I n enter it at ninety three three
khr dot com for your shot at one thousand dollars.

(00:37):
Coin to ninety three to three khr dot com. Another
keyword comes your way at nine o'clock when Ryan Healey
joins us. We don't normally put Spencer and Ryan on
the same show, but we are today. We need to
hear from our experts former NBA tenure, NBA vet, former
you Dub big Man, former high school legend here in Seattle,

(01:00):
and Ben our NBA insider during the playoffs for each
of the last two seasons, so we get to chat
with him once per week this time of the year.
Spencer Hawis is with us here on Chuck and Buck.
Good morning, sir, Good morning, how are you. I'm doing
all right, How are things with you? I was your weekend?
Did you enjoy us? A nice, lovely, romantic, good weather weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Had a great weekend, good Mother's Day, brunch at home
my family, and then kind of got spoiled Sunday night
with the Spurs situation.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
But we move on. He bounce back tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Well, I do want to talk about the Spurs situation,
but I got to have you weigh in on my
list first. I don't know if Ashley warned you what
I was getting ready to do, but I made a
couple of bold statements. I put together my best list
all time, ten best players in NBA history. Here's the
first bold statement in it. I said, Michael Jordan is
clearly number one, but I think Lebron is just as

(02:00):
clearly number two. And I think the gap between two
and three is larger than two and one. What is
your thought about that?

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I think that's a good list.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I hate the revisionists, you know, trying to compare eras,
but I do agree that those two are clearly at
the top, and there's a pretty good, pretty sizable gap
between those two gentlemen and everybody else. I got a
bold statement that I'm fired up about this morning myself,

(02:33):
i'd like to share.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Okay, So I don't.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Know if you and this is an individual and Howard
Schultz that I rarely agree with and like to see
getting any sort of publicity, but he wrote an interesting
op ed in the Wall Street Journal about the state
of the Seattle business climate, and I hope that the
mayor read it, and I hope that she's taking notes,

(02:58):
because I saw yesterday in an interview she's talking about
throwing in more taxes for the city of Seattle, and
as it pertains the Sonics, and obviously Howard's history with
that franchise here, I'd just like to throw out a
little warning to her that you know, all of these
measures that that she's either done or talking about doing

(03:19):
in the city and that the state is done here
is not helping our cause trying to lure back the Sonics.
So I'd like to ask her and the politicians above
her in the state to start reconsidering and if they
are really sports fans and not just people that like
putting hats on at parades and press conferences and pretending

(03:40):
to reconsider the actions they're taking that are demeaning our
business environment. If we want to have a chance to
get the Sonics back. So I'm getting that off my chest.
Let's get to the playoff analysis.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well, I'm glad you got it off your chest.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
And then.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Spencer Hawes is with us. Here are NBA playoff insider.
All right, let's talk about the Whimby situation. Then what
did you think of the actual moment in the game,
and then how the officials and the league reacted, meaning
he got ejected from the game but not suspended any

(04:18):
further beyond that your thought on the entire scenario.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
So I think first and foremost the elbow warranted interjection.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
I think it's you can't ye know.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I know it was as a big guy, especially when
you're younger in p I've never been seven to seven before.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
But the way that they guard him and the way that.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
He's officiating, he might still you might have another burst.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
You never know, I hope not at this point.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
But when guys are when guys are beating you up
and hanging on you like that over the course of
a game, a series, a season, it takes his toll.
And in that particular instance, he had two guys, and
McDaniels and nas Red climbing all over him, fouling him,
and I think the officials want I mean, their job

(05:11):
in a game is to control the game and control
the flow and not let it get out of hand
either way. And if they do their job early and
call a foul before the second defender gets in there
and starts hanging all over him, he doesn't react like that.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
And that's not to justify his reaction.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Obviously that was excessive, and like I said, I think
warranted the ejection. Unfortunately, in that instance, if they're doing
their job, it doesn't get to that point, and you
don't have Wendy getting kicked out, and you don't have
nas Reed taking the sharpest elbow in the west right
to his jugular.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Did do you think that Mitch Johnson's message after the game,
which I also loved, He'll take the fine. I'm going
to defend my big man and send a message. Do
you think it will work? Do you think we'll see
the game officiated a little differently from Wemby's perspective tonight.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I would hope so.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
And if I know anything about how the playoffs operate,
the Spurs probably had their video crew putting put together
a nice little four or five minute montage of all
the hits that he's taken, probably not just in this series,
but going back to the last one and maybe before
uh to the league office to demonstrate how they referee

(06:26):
him versus, for example, how Julius Randall is refereed on
the other end of the floor where he's just hand
checking anybody he can at twenty five feet to try
and stay stay in front of him. So I would
expect Wenby to come out tonight with his boots on fire,
and I think they are going to have to, you know,

(06:49):
officiate differently in light of the context that is now, uh,
you know, kind of the national spotlight on this series.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
You know, Bickerstaff called out the officials last night. There
was a huge discrepancy I think it was thirty four
free throws to twelve in the Cavaliers Pistons game, and
he pointed out that Kenny Atkinson, head coach of the Cavaliers,
earlier in the series, had made the NBA officials, the
officials in the series aware of some things that he

(07:19):
didn't like about it, and since that time, according to Bickerstaff,
the officiating has turned on its head and now he
feels like all the calls are going the Cavaliers way.
It's sad that an officiating crew could respond that way,
could react that way to some criticism, But does it work.

(07:41):
Does it work as a head coach to call out officials?
Do you more often than not get the immediate dividends
of that just by making them aware of the discrepancies
that are occurring.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
I think so.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
And the first thing you have to remember is that
the officials are human beings.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
We don't have robo umps.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
And I think what gets lost in a lot of
this conversation, and everyone wants to talk about home court
advantage and especially in the playoffs and why it's so important,
But you know, I think last night was a great
example of you know, the Cavaliers being a team that
they rely heavily on three point shooting, and generally your
three point shooters, especially you're non stars that aren't going

(08:24):
to get as many looks, always shoot better at home.
But you also get the benefit of the whistle at
home a lot more than you do on the road
in the playoffs, and whether they've been called out or not,
I think that's been a constant as long as I
can remember. In the playoffs and I think it's showing
itself not only in that series, and I would go
out I probably don't have to go out on a

(08:46):
limb and say that will also be the case in
San Antonio.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
This evening, well, that's what we've got left to hang
our hat on. In this round we had two sweeps.
So let's talk about the two series that are still alive,
and they're even right now at two games a piece.
What will be the outcome of San Antonio Minnesota, What
will be the outcome of Cleveland Detroit? And what will

(09:10):
the reasons be for those outcomes?

Speaker 2 (09:12):
In your estimation, I think there's still well, there's there's
more intrigue now given the Wemby ejection and all everything
that comes along with that, I still think that series
is a little easier to predict. I do think San
Antonio comes out ahead on that one.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
The Cavs Pistons.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
I think, you know, it's interesting, the Pistons get up
to oh at home, everyone thinks they got in the bag,
and then the age old adage of a series doesn't
start till a team gets one on the road.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
They go back to.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Cleveland, where Cleveland's had a huge home court advantage for
a few years now in the playoffs, and they even
a backup, So I think that I think the game
five and in that one is going to tell us
a lot more about how things are going to go.
I I think Cleveland has found something being at home.
But Kay Cunningham has looked, maybe not last night, but

(10:09):
up until this point in the series, looked like by
far and away the best player in that series.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
And usually when you.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Get to the playoffs, you know, if all other things
are closed, the team with the best player and especially
the best closer ends up.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
For Daily Spencer Owis is with us former NBA ten
year player, and of course you dub big Man and
he's joining us here on Chuck and Buck throughout the
NBA Playoffs for a second year in a row to
be our NBA Playoff expert. And we have two series
of course that we're swept. I mean, can the Knicks
play any better than what they played against Philadelphia? And

(10:46):
is it sustainable going forward?

Speaker 2 (10:49):
I mean, they look like the biggest juggernaut we've seen
so far so far in the playoffs, and maybe outside
of ok See, I think okay See, he's had pretty
favorable matchups, but that's what you get when you're the
number one seed.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
You position yourself that way.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
But you know, they went in obviously against the Philly
team that's that has some flaws, but you know, people
forget they did this without Og and Noobi and still
made that quick work of a sixers team that was
riding some good momentum coming into that into that series.
So I don't know if you can count on them

(11:27):
shooting the ball the same way, but it looks like,
you know, the way that Mike Brown is kind of
tinkered with Karl Anthony Towns and using him as more
of a point forward. I think his assist totals are
the thing that stood out to be in that last
series against Philly. He's really turned into certainly their secondary,
if not primary playmaker in the half court, and I

(11:48):
think that's a massive advantage that the Micks have against
whoever comes out of that that other series in the East,
and if they can prevail there, they will have them
in the finals as well.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
It's pretty much only one rule in the Spencer conversation,
try not to give the thunder credit. Ever, and yet
Man eight to no to this point in the playoffs
without their second best player being healthy, and now they're
going to get all that rest for whoever comes out
of San Antonio, Minnesota. Man, they just and they're getting

(12:23):
contributions from everyone. I mean, SGA doesn't even have to
have good games and they're still winning easily here through
the first two rounds of the playoffs. I think you
were leaning toward the Spurs at the beginning of the postseason.
Are you changing your mind based on what you're seeing
out of OKC so far?

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Joe, I'm still leaning on Spurs.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
I'm still pulling for my boy match, I still think.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
But I know what you're pulling for us.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
I still think that that we learned something in the
playoffs about the way or sorry in the regular season,
about the way that they can match up with Oklahom,
a city that really no one else can with the
size of their guards and the amount of the Spurs.
I'm talking about the amount of point of attack defenders
that they have they.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Can throw at s GA.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
J Williams and now apparently AJ Mitchell, who's turned into
a legitimate number two options. But Oklahoma they're really good,
and they're really balanced. And if I didn't have all
this hate in my heart for him. I'd probably enjoy it,
and I'd certainly enjoy watching the way they play basketball.

(13:34):
The way they move the ball, I think is the
thing that stands out. And they've struck quite a balance
of having the best score in the league, who is
so effective in isolation, who can go out and do
it on his own, yet has the willingness to get
off the ball and allow that thing to skip around
to find all the rest of the guys and keep

(13:55):
them engaged on the offensive end of the floor, which
in turn generally gets guys more engaged on the opposite
end when they feel like they're touching the ball and
they're having something to do with it.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Yeah, they're scary right now, just scary. And so hopefully
we got a good Western Conference and Eastern Conference finals
ahead of us, because there were a couple of blowouts
there in round number two, and of course the Lakers
are out. Just kind of bringing it back to Lebron
here quickly. Do you think he's played his last game?

(14:27):
And if so, how does Spencer Hawes put his career
in perspective?

Speaker 3 (14:32):
I don't, I don't think.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
I mean, I was kind of going down, going down
the rabbit hole this morning and looking at some of
his all the regular season accomplishments and then what he's
been able to do in the playoffs and his averages
in the playoffs, and you don't, Yeah, if they would
have won the championship, maybe he says, Okay, I go
out on top and I'm still averaging twenty five and five.

(14:57):
But I think getting swept in the second round of
the playoffs is not how I would imagine someone like
him wants to go out playing his final game. And
I think as a shock to most people, his ability
to still be so productive at forty one shows me
that there's still a lot left in the tank, and
there's a lot left to contribute to winning, which I

(15:19):
think is at this stage of his career ultimately his motivation,
and whether it's in LA or in another opportunity, I
think being the third option this year really and being
comfortable being the third option, which many people probably didn't
anticipate that he would be, shows that, you know, there's
a lot more situations than maybe the league originally anticipated

(15:43):
that he could go slide into and be a major
difference maker and impact winning both in the regular season
and in the course of the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Yeah, interesting to see you start thinking about some teams
he might fit on. If he'd be willing to take
like a even a tertiary role to play three more
years it limited minutes, he might be able to latch
onto like a finished product and put them over the top.
But we shall see. I don't think he's done either. Hey,
do you have thoughts on the NBA lottery at all?

(16:12):
I mean you don't. You're not as suspicious of it
as I am. Are you about it to being rigged?
Didn't we have that conversation a year ago?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
I am not.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
I'm very grateful that the Thunder didn't buck the odds
and end up with a top four pick, but no,
I think I think we talked about this. I commend
the league and the commissioner for being open to trying
out a new model, and if it works, great, If

(16:45):
it doesn't, it's better than leaving the system now where
you just have teams giving up before the All Star break.
And I think it's gonna make for some interesting, interesting
play by some bad teams next year down the stretch
to try and avoid getting punished for being at the
at the lowest rung of the totem pole and I'm
hopeful that it leads to a better product going forward,

(17:07):
and that this anking narrative can, if not disappear, at
least be mitigated to a certain extent.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Yeah, let's just mitigate it. I think that's the only
goal you can have, is just to so it doesn't
become such a prominent story and so many of your markets.
So yeah, I'm with you, and I still don't know
if they're going far enough with their idea. I think
I'd like to just get rid of the entire lottery
process and figure out a way to you know, make

(17:34):
teams earn it down the stretch, if there's a really
creative way to do that. But we shall see how
it goes, all right, man, Well, thank you very much.
You got a little bit off your chest today. We
got to talk about history, a little bit of the league,
and you also got to undefend BigMan who are always
getting fouled more than they should. Right.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
You know, my dad always taught me if you're going
to throw the you have to pivot with it. You
can't lead with the elbow. You're going to lead with
the pivot and then it's a legal move.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Good to know, all right, all Right, man, Well, thank
you very much. We appreciate it. We'll bug you again
next week. All right, all right, thanks for having me.
All right, Spencer hollis joining us right here on Chuck
and Buck in the morning, and so yes, Timberwolves and Spurs.
Tonight it will be game number five. Is it going
to be the decisive game in the series? Wimby will

(18:30):
play in the contest remains to be seen. If it
will be officiated any differently. I mean, it's kind of sad.
I think it's very frustrating that if it is, I
think it needs to be. I'm torn because I think
it needs to be officiated differently. I don't think that
you can let anyone and I know this, you know,

(18:51):
I know there are a lot of people that are like, hey,
he's just like anybody else. If he's too skinny to
take it, then he can, you know, get hurt. It's
no big deal. You know, he needs to be like
anybody else. I think that you kind of have to
protect your superstars to a degree, but.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
I also just to a degree.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
I also don't think they're treating him like anyone else
right now, because I don't think they know necessarily how
people don't know how to defend him, so their officials
don't know how to officiate in that way to make
it fair for either of either side.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Right, And that's where I'm kind of torn. It's like,
I want him to be more protected by the league,
but I don't want it to go so far as
that ends up being the story tomorrow. Right. And then
the Timberwolves have a legitimate gripe because you've you caved
subconsciously or consciously overnight, and now you're officiating the series

(19:42):
completely differently. When our guys got locked into how we
were going to limit him, and now all of a sudden,
we can't touch him. You know, Cleveland Detroit series is
going on right now, and Bickerstaff accused Cleveland of planting
a seed in the official's head, and that is Kinnyatka's job.
You get to the postgame press conference and you say,

(20:04):
I don't like the way this was done. You know,
doesn't feel like this this and this is happening the
right way. And then the next thing you know, you
go to Cleveland and Cleveland's getting all the calls and
now Detroit's looking up at a thirty four to twelve
free throw differential. And losing the basketball game. So now
Bickerstaff has thrown his thoughts into it to try to

(20:24):
get back into the official's head and kind of reverse
the way things are going. It just should not swing
that dramatically they call the damn game and don't be
so influenced by And maybe they're not, but it feels
that way. It feels like the officials in the Cleveland
Detroit series have been way too influenced by coaches criticisms

(20:49):
and maybe even a phone call from from the league
office saying, yeah, they're right about this, and now they've
kind of swung it the other way. I don't want
it to swing so far the other way that the
Timberwolves can't touch Wimby tonight. No, But on the other hand,
I don't want to see him being manhandled every time
he gets the ball, because I want to see Wimby

(21:11):
be able to be Wimby tonight.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
It's yeah, you can't treat him like he's made of glass,
but you also can't treat him like he's made of steel.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
And and everything they do as in a.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Lot of materials in between a lot.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
Of materials in between. There, let's go with something a
little softer, but a little tougher than glass. Yeah, plexiglass perhaps, Yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Fabroche, No, that's even lighter, right, Yeah, it takes a
lot of work. How do you not get it? Something
in between? Yeah, come on, guys, tathlon now all right,
ABC's of the M's next Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R F M, Sumner and Auburn. You just
get more at sunset.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
People do like that.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
So dramatically wonderful.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Yeah, well, thank you. Uh So, here we go ABCS
of the MS. It's our Daily Mariners segment. We allow
the alphabet to be our guide through a few things.
Let me first recap what happened last night, a win
three to one over the Houston Astros. Scored two runs
early to clutch RBI hits from Dom and from Cole
Young in the game, and then a Julio Rodriguez bomb,

(22:21):
and then George Kirby only made it through five. We're
down three of our top five relievers right now, and
yet guys stepped up, got the job done. Four scoreless
innings from our bullpen, four different pitchers last night, and
it's a three to one win in Houston. Good way
to start the four game series. So let's get to
the alphabet we left off of the letter in and

(22:43):
N is for Nicky sixth, Nick Devila last night stepping
into a big and I guess it's not technically high leverage.
I don't think high leverage is counted on until seventh, eighth,
and ninth. But to be handed the ball by George
Kirby certainly the biggest moment of his major league career

(23:04):
since he's pitched twice. But he I was surprised that,
oh wow, we're going here. Huh is what we're doing? Okay,
I guess we'll we'll do it. We haven't even really
got to know this bloke, and yet here he is
standing on the mound with a slim lead against the
Houston Astros, taking the ball from George Kirby. And if
he didn't get the job done, nice job, young man.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Yes, well done, Nicky sixth.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Yeah, maybe we'll start calling Nickky.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Sixth only in yard allowed to play in the sixth, Right,
that's it?

Speaker 1 (23:38):
And wins? Yes, yeah, if he pitches then a loss,
who cares?

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Right, then we don't talk about him at all.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
But in a win, I mean that, I mean when
you're when you're going into the evening and you know
you're down, and you've got George who's known for his control.
Now he's also had a past where he's not been
the most efficient dude in the world despite his control,
which to me does not up uh. And yet man,
he barely got through the fifth last night. I couldn't believe.

(24:06):
I kind of had to do a double take, Like,
wait a minute, his pitch count's that high and we're
in the fifth inning and he's only allowed one and
it feels like he's having a pretty good game, and
yet he barely got through the fifth And I don't know,
I don't know if that was part of the script.
And all of a sudden, you're like, Okay, who's going
to pitch the sixth? Nikki? Nikki sixth?

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Well, and especially yeah with Kirby, because it feels like
he's been so efficient, uh huh this far in the season,
and so yeah, for him to get to ninety nine pitches,
it was like, well.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Yeah, what happened or what happened?

Speaker 4 (24:36):
This isn't George.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
I when I'm watching the replay right now, maybe I'll
figure it out.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
Okay, key, count him up, Just start counting his pitches.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Hey, he's at twenty three right now on the replay,
just threw his twenty fourth pitch and he's in the
bottom of the second with just one out. So yeah,
not real fision, No, he was not.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
But I mean at least he only gave up one
run yesterday. My prediction was he'd go seven and give
up one hit.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Oh, I was off.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
I was wrong, but okay, five and he gave up
one run. Still I accept it.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Yeah, yeah, I mean he did well last night, but
really it was the bullpen and guys like Davila and
Criswell that came through. Cooper. Criswell, by the way, is
going to join us for the first time ever today
at nine thirty. Oh is for over aggression, and I
do believe that our third base coach last night was
over aggressive in sending two runners in that second inning.

(25:27):
I mean, can Zone's RBI hit the other way was
blistered and Randy's fast, but it felt like that was
an over aggressive move. I think if the left fielder
fields that cleanly, he guns Randy or Rose Arena out
at home plate, then on the very next batter Cole
Young with a base hit to right field, and if

(25:49):
Luke Raley doesn't round that third base bag perfectly, I
mean he barely was safe anyway.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Sliding his fingers right underneath the tag.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Yeah, if he I mean, if he's not a fast
guy who doesn't hit that bag perfectly, and you know,
hit that and you're able to not round the bag
but project yourself toward home plate.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
And then he was.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Still barely safe after a beautiful slide. I mean you
could argue that those were both wrong decisions. And yet
I like an over aggressive third base coach, and I
think when you're struggling offensively with two outs and we're
not known for two out base hits, yeah, go for it.

(26:37):
Maybe they do bobble the ball on left field. Maybe
Rayley does, you know, round the bag perfectly and score.
Make them make the play against you. So those were
two over aggressive sins, and yet they were the difference
in the game last night, And we might now win
that baseball game if we don't treat those two plays

(26:59):
that aggreat Well.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
Yeah, and that bobble on the Randy when Randy scored
wasn't even that big of a bobble.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
I mean he bobbled it slightly.

Speaker 5 (27:06):
And then and then threw to the cutoff guy instead
of even trying to throw home, which I was thankful for,
but both of them were close. I liked the fact that, yeah,
we were just like, you know what, we're risking it.
Let's see what happens.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Fly fly fly, no risk at no biscuit.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Carlos Cardoza is the third base coach for the Seattle Mariners,
and so he played a big role in that victory
last night. And then finally, P is for power, And
of course I'm going to refer to Julio Rodriguez. How
many times have we had a conversation on this show
over the Julio Rodriguez his career with Bucky yourself and

(27:47):
I talking about Julio coming up in situations and trying
to hit a ball seemingly one thousand feet when all
you need is a base hit in that moment.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
Yeah, and more often than not, it's been in a
clutch moment him and it's backfired.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
So I want every time that he does that again
in the future, for the coaching staff to show him
that home run last night, because he didn't even get
it all he was actually his feet were out a
little ahead, but he kept his hands back and then
just took as he said to Brad Adam after the game,
just put a good swing on the ball. And he

(28:23):
just put a good swing on the ball. And look, son,
how far you can hit the baseball because you are
that strong, you are that talented, you are that good
of a hitter. I mean, he almost knocked it out
of the stadium and he didn't take a swing for
the fences. That was just I'm a little out in front,
but I'm gonna keep my hands back and I'm gonna

(28:44):
put a good swing on this thing and then look
at it fly. So when you are in those game
winning situations and we need to hit, just try to
put a good swing on the ball and it might
leave the park anyway, leave the park by a lot,
because it did last night. That's how good you are.

(29:05):
But if you're going to go up there trying to
murder the ball a thousand feet so that everybody will
marvel at you on Sports Center that night, then I
think you're going to fail in those moments more than
you succeed. But if you approach it just like you
did last night, I'm just trying to put a good
swing on the Pole, you can be the hero. You
can hit the five hundred foot home run like we

(29:27):
saw last night. It was a thing of beauty. It
just shows you how much peat for power that that
guy really has.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Well.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
Yeah, and I'd much rather see you put a good
swing on it and you fly out to center field
without I'd rather see that than you swinging for the
fences and you lose balance and almost fall over at
the plate, which we've seen too often. So just yeah,
keep your wits about you, keep your feet in the
right position, just keep your balance, keep your body right,

(29:53):
and clearly we know what can happen. So I thought
it was great. He I mean, just in general, he's
looked good so far this year. He doesn't seem like
he's trying to swing out of his butt.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Yeah, I agree. But that's a reminder that, uh, you know,
when you have that much talent. I mean, Bucky's talking
about it with him, talked about it with col. I mean,
this is what launched Cow. I mean it was just
you put the ball in play, and your home runs
are going to come yep. So and that was with
the bass is empty leading off an inning last night.

(30:26):
So the next opportunity you have with one out, second
and third and the ninth inning, remember that swing. Don't
swing on the ball, and maybe you don't hit a
three run homer, but you put the ball in play
and you're not walking back to the dugout having not
come through because you tried to hit the ball seven
hundred feet three swings.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
In a row.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
Exactly, You've got the power. You have the power. So
with great power comes great responsibility.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
Boom boom boom boom boom bum bums.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Take a breath and go for yours on my command.
Now hit the dance, fol gonna make you what do
you believe?

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Boom boom boom.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Not long.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
I could keep doing that.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
All right. Coming up next, Uh, it's a Sea Hawks
prime time primer, just in time for more leakage on
sports Radio ninety three point three kh A r f M.
Put up my bit by bit somewhere Piper's slipped hers.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
I think we're supposed to say that word.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
I don't know if we're supposed to say that word.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Well, word saying oh oh, there was a word in there,
you see. I can't even tell I think she said.
I think Piper slipped her nip I think is what
she said, Oh.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
Better than what I thought I would say.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Uh to Leila Brasort Casino is your place not just
for one thing or two things or even seven things. No,
it's your place for everything when all you want is
everything everything to laylip dot com. Head on out there,
take it advantage of some gaming. Turns out they got
some gaming. You want some food, Oh, they got restaurants everywhere.

(32:05):
You want to watch the game the DraftKings sportsbook. Want
to put some little money on the game, You can
do that too. Talalap Resort Casino really is your place
for everything, and they even have concerts. Colin Ray will
be performing on June fourth at the Orca Ballroom at
Talalap Resort Casino. All right, well it's NFL schedule release week.

(32:28):
We are still waiting with our buckets for more leakage.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
Ring on the leaks, Yes, ring on the leaks.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Where you Ian Rappaport. Haven't heard a damn thing from
you today, Pelisero, lose your phone on your way to
work today? Well, I got one leak so far, and
it's of course from Adam Schefter and of course came
at like four o'clock this morning, because he had had

(32:55):
to get that information out there, and so we haven't
had anything more to chew on at least today. Nearly
the entire international schedule, but not entirely, has been filled out,
and certainly we've had a couple of leaks here the
last couple of days. Another thing we haven't even pointed out.
Detroit and Buffalo are playing in week number two of

(33:18):
the season on a Thursday night, and that's going to
be the debut of Buffalo's brand new stadium. What a
great matchup, What a fun I mean, those are two
of the most fun teams to watch in the National
Football League. They might be one two Buffalo and Detroit.
Those might be the most entertaining two teams in the
entire NFL and.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Very easy to cheer for. I think for a lot
of people.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
You don't have to be a Lions fan or a
Bills fan to say, yeah, I like it when they
do well.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
They're fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Well for two straight years, maybe three. You know, if
the Seahawks can't get there, I want to see Detroit
versus Buffalo. Yeah, they can't make it happen themselves in
the playoffs, but we're going to have it happen in
a regular season and an on a historic night because
they're going to unveil the brand new stadium that night.
So that'd be great.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
That stadium, by the way, does it have a roof?
Does you would have a roof?

Speaker 1 (34:05):
I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (34:06):
Okay, good because I wanted to make sure that the
fans still had to go shovel snow all season.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Uh. And it's also one of those two of those
teams where almost you're almost guaranteed of having one guy
from your fantasy team playing that night. There are so
many weapons on those two teams, you almost certainly are
gonna have somebody. You're either going to be going again
someone or you're gonna have somebody playing for you that night.
So that was leaked since yesterday, but we're gonna find

(34:34):
out the bulk of the information on Thursday. We actually
we'll find out all the information on Thursday. Uh. And
in the meantime, we've already discussed who they might face
the Seahawks in their season opener, and I think it's
going to be the Chicago Bears. And if it's not
the Bears, it's the Chargers, and I don't even think
there's another option. Frankly, with the Chiefs coming off the

(34:55):
board earlier today, it looks it's looking very much like
Bears Chargers. I can imagine that they put the Cardinals
on the opening night, and I can't imagine they want
to deal with the Rabel Russini circus to start their season.
So it's Bears or Chargers. It's looking like for the
Seahawks opener, and I would put my money on the

(35:16):
Chicago Bears. But there's another aspect. There's another leg of
this that we can discuss today, and this often offends
Seahawks fans, is that they don't feel they get enough
respect with the number of prime time games that they're given.
Number One, do you like when the Seahawks play in
the primetime games the standalone games?

Speaker 4 (35:38):
I do, and I don't.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
I like it because I like that all eyes are
on the Seahawks and that's fun. But I really love
watching the Seahawks on a Sunday and I like argument
that routine. I like having my team there on a Sunday.
It's just you know, in the week, you can get
caught up with a bunch of different things you've got
to do, and so on a Thursday night or a
Monday night, that just sometimes can be tricky. And I

(36:00):
don't want I don't want anything to disrupt my Seahawks viewing.
And I always know and during football season, I've got
my Sunday time to watch football.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Well, when you're world champion, you're gonna have fewer Sundays,
fewer normal Sundays. You're gonna have more prime time games
when you're coming off a championship than you had the
previous year. The Eagles had seven last year.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
That's too many.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
Yeah, seven of their seventeen games, they weren't all prime time.
Six of them were prime time, but seven standalone games
because they played the Black Friday game. They had two
Thursday night games, two Sunday night games, and two Monday
night games Philadelphia plus the Black Friday games. So that's
seven standalone games that the Eagles played. So you won't
be offended if the Seahawks only get five or six.

(36:47):
Because the Eagles got seven.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
That never bothers me. I do not care to.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
I know it does, right, because one I think the
Seahawks and us we thrive on being kind of overlooked
or the underdog or not celebrated by everybody.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
So I don't need I don't.

Speaker 5 (37:04):
I never look at it and say, oh my gosh,
well we got four primetime games.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
That's garbage the NFL.

Speaker 5 (37:09):
I mean, I don't care whoever you, wherever your game
is scheduled, you're playing the same opponents.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
So let's let's go win the game. That's all that matters.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
I don't know if we'll get the seven, but we'll
get at least five and probably land on six because
they are creating so many more standalone games between Thursday
night and Black Friday.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
And well, now they've got a Wednesday game on opening.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Night, Thanksgiving is extended, and now you play on Christmas
two in the National Football League.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
And yeah, they've got the Wednesday before Thanksgiving game too.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
That's right, Yeah, yep, So I think they're even doing
Christmas Eve, aren't they? Or was it just before Thanksgiving?
But remember either way, there are more standalone games in
the NFL than ever, so I would imagine we're going
to get six, and there are certainly a lot of candidates.
I'm with you that I don't want my Sunday routine stripped.

(38:01):
I mean, yeah, we're gonna have to play the Rams
on a primetime game. That's a given. I expect that well,
play the forty nine Ers on a primetime game, that's
a given. But I want to also play them in
the other game on a Sunday, and I'm certainly glad
we're not playing them in Melbourne on a Thursday.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Again. Well, like I brought up earlier, I'm a forty
nine Ers and Rams fans. I am pissed. You should
never have a division game in another country. You are
taking away from the fan bases in the home field advantage.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
So those two are gonna be prime timers. I would
imagine Philadelphia will be a primetimer. I would imagine Denver
on the road will be a primetimer.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
And I think the Chiefs at home and probably the
Cowboys at home. I think those are gonna be your six.
I don't know what they'll do with New England. I
don't know. I still don't know how they're gonna handle it,
but nah, they're probably gonna be two, so we have
to eliminate somebody from that. They're certainly gonna put the
Super Bowl rematch in a primetime slot. I think maybe

(39:00):
we don't get the Chiefs. I think Cowboys, Bears, Patriots,
and then one of the NFC West Rams are forty
nine ers. As far as home games, that's four.

Speaker 5 (39:11):
I think if the Chiefs game is late in the season,
it would be a primetime game. If it's early in
the season where they're still uncertain about if Mahomes will
be back or not, I would expect that to not
be primetime, d'am.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
All right, Well, we shall see. I think we'll get
at least five. I don't think we'll quite get the
seven the Eagles had, and my guesses it'll land right between.
And I'm finally six standalone games out of seventeen for
this upcoming year. All right, coming up next, Ryan Healey
joins us, we are going to solve cal Raley. It's
Ryan Heay's responsibility right here. On Sports Radio ninety three
