This morning was bitter cold. Temperatures were in the single digits and with the wind chill were below zero. Definitely not my favorite walking weather! Cold muscles don't work very efficiently when cold so it's important to allow them time to warm up. Warm muscles are less at risk for injury as well, which is why any seasoned athlete will attest to the benefits of warm-up exercises. There is one critical muscle who's temperature we must pay particularly close attention to.
