Your body is brilliant, right. So many people out there
say you don't need to detox. The liver and the kidneys,
and the lungs and the skin all do that for you.

(01:16):
That's what they're made for. You don't need to do
these long extended fast you don't need to do these
juice cleanses. You don't need to go to the wellness
spas and then there's the camp that says you need
to do a ton of supplements, you need to go
away for two weeks, do sauna and green drinks and
fast and all of this stuff. Well what's the truth. Well,

the truth is, in today's world, it's different than ever
before in history. Our bodies cannot detox what it's been
given the amount of toxins in our air, are our food,
our water, we have to drink water. Our bodies aren't
meant to do it. Our grandparents did not face what

(02:04):
we are facing today. And then our detox pathways that
are supposed to work beautifully get slowed and clogged, and
then toxins become accumulated in the body, and even those
healthy foods can actually make things worse. So what do
you get then? Inflammation, fatigue, unexplained, waking, brain fog, and

(02:28):
a long list of chronic conditions. And that's why we're
seeing so many more cancer cases, so many more heart issues,
so much more menopausal symptoms being a lot worse than
they ever were before. So why are our detox pathways
struggling like never before? Number One, the endocrine disruptors were

(02:51):
surrounded by hormone disrupting chemicals BPA, phallites, parabins, the forever chemicals,
synthetic estrogens. These aren't the good estrogens. There's bad ones
and good ones. These compounds mimic or block our hormones,
interfere with the thyroid signaling so that slows down the metabolism,

(03:13):
causes the body to gain weight, overloads the liver's detox enzymes.
And they're found everywhere in plastics or receipts from the market.
Fragrance fragrances, you know, our perfumes that we're spraying right
on our thyroid cosmetics and even in our drinking water.
They're everywhere. And then you've got iodine displacement, so iodine

is no longer in our soils. We are not getting it.
Ninety six percent of the United States or more are deficient.
And iodine and idine is critical for the thyroid. It
is the four and the three and the thyroid hormones
T four and T three. How can you have thyroid
hormones without a molecule that is part of the hormone

four and T three. Our exposure to the halogens fluoride, bromide,
chlorine make things even worse. So idine's gone down. These
other halogens fluoride, bromine, chlorine are higher in our environment
and our water, our breads, our mountain dews, everything. Chlorine's

in our water. Fluoride's all over in the news, and
states are finely trying to get it out of their
water system, but not all states, and those compete with idine.
When you go back to chemistry class, they're all in
the same column on the periodic table. And if you
don't have idine filling those parking spots on every cell

(04:43):
in your body, not just your thyroid, these other halogens
will dry right in and fill those parking spots. Breast
cancer usually is from an idine deficiency and too much
bromide in the breast tissue. Could you do to prevent
these types of things? Probably supplement with some iodine. We're

going to get to that in a minute. But these
halogens attack the iodine receptor site in the thyroid, the brain,
the liver, blocking iodine from doing its job. And when
you need you need iodine for your brain. If you
don't have it, you have the brain fog. Idine detox
is your brain from all the toxins it lifts your mood.

Idine deficiency is the number one cause of depression. That
is a true pandemic going on right now, right so
it is so important, and it's it's not in our
environment anymore. Then we have the heavy metals mercury, lead, aluminum.
I was off the charts in all three of those
when I first started my health journey, off the charts,

and I mean it on the paper. My spike was
not even on the paper. And they are now found.
We have arsenic found in our rice, even our organic rice, water, air,
and even your personal care products. Even there is lead
in those vegan chocolate protein powders that are organic. You

(06:13):
think you're doing all the right things. You're getting in
your protein, it's vegan source, it's organic, super high and lead.
What do we do right? We've got so many of
these heavy metals lodged deep in our tissues and they
displace these vitamins and minerals like zinc and selenium and
interfere with our mitochondria. And that's your body's energy source,

(06:37):
not the coffee, not the monster drink. We need that
mitochondria health. When our mitochondria die, we die, and we
need that atp in the mitochondria that is the powerhouse
of the mitochondria, so over time impair the liver, the
kidney filtration, slowing every detox pathways. Microplastics, nanoplastics. I have

(07:00):
organic cucumbers in my fridge right now, they're wrapped in plastic.
We can't get away from it. As much as we
want to, we can't get away from it. Scientists now
estimate that the average person consumes over five grams of
plastic per week. That's the equivalent of a credit card.
Microplastics bind to toxins accumulating the liver the gut, trigger

(07:24):
chronic inflammation, and that weakens the cellular detox mechanisms. Then
we've got chronic nutritional deficiencies. Our soils don't have the
nutrition they once had. But not only that, we're not
eating food that is whole food anymore. We're eating processed foods.
So even when you're eating healthy, the depletion of the

(07:46):
soil minerals, including iodine and magnesium and all the others,
they are lacking those basic nutrients magnesium, idine, zinc, copper,
amino acids, vitamin B six that liver enzymes depend on
these for detoxification. With When all of these factors are

on top of each other our detox pathways say I
can't do anymore, So what does it do with the
toxins stores them in fat cells. Your fat cells might
not have anything to do about with your calorie intake
and the lack of exercise. You could exercise yourself selly
and it won't do any good unless your cells feel safe.

We're at least seeing toxins that they're stored in those cells,
the cells, the fat cells storing those toxins. That's a story.
That's a survival mechanism, keeping your body safe from those
toxins out of the blood unless it feels safe to
detoxin and get rid of them. That's why they unexplained
weight gains coming from wherever. And your liver is where

you metabolize fat. Your liver is where your thyroid hormones
convert from the inactive T four into the act three.
If your liver's clogged, all of these jobs stop. Your
metabolism slows, your energy slows, your brain pog comes in, inflammation, oxidat, distress,
all the things. And our modern food makes this even harder.

So some of the foods that you might think are healthy,
the processed ketogenic protein bar still processed we have the
refined sugars, the seed oils, preservatives, artificial additives. I am
trying so hard to find a protein bar that is
clean and that works there and Instagram knows the algorithm,

(09:39):
so that keeps sending me a whole bunch of options,
and I keep looking. Not one has the right protein source.
And then no seed oils and a good ratio, and
no artificial sweeteners, all organic. Not one bar, Please come
up with one. We don't we want almonds, we don't

(10:01):
want peanut butter. Those things we're going to get to
why we don't want them. And some of the protein,
the other proteins their body doesn't digest accept the liver.
Whole bunch of things. But not only do these create
a constant demand for liver detox enzymes, These preservatives, artificial additives,

(10:23):
seed oils, refined sugars, and that's all in the processed
food as well, that makes up seventy percent of the
American diet. But they deplete glue de thigh on the
bodies master antioxidant over time. This suppresses mitochondrial energy production,
slows your bioflow. What's your bile? The biles the detergent

to get all the junk out, the fat and the toxins.
This is the main route through which toxins exit the body. Then,
on top of that, you think you're doing great. You're
eating the clean, white, lean chicken and poultry. Well, few
people realize that amyloid proteins found in conventional poultry, even

organic chicken. I'm sorry, and it's gotten worse after the pandemic,
But these amyloids contribute to liver congestion, neurological inflammation causing
dimension Alzheimer's, also trigger gut pathogens Ecoli, salmonella. They increase

the oxalates and some other things going on in your gut.
And you're like, wait a second, I just had one
hundred and fifty calories and no fat in a chicken
breast thirty grams protein. Isn't that a good thing? Well,
your liver can't break down that those amyloid proteins into
amino acids to use and then rebuild and put into

your biceps. Can't do it. That's why you need grass fed,
grass finished. Wild animal protein is the optimal source of
protein for your body. Then you get into the oxalates.
How many of you are drinking your green drinks full
of spinach, full of kale, making those kale chips super healthy. Right,

you're having a chili that's all vegan. Well. These oxalates
are found in high concentrations in spinach, almonds, beats, sweet potatoes,
other plant foods. They bind a calcium, iron, magnesium forming
sharp crystals, irritate the tissues and the kidneys. Make sure

the last one was all about men causes erectile dysfunction
that'll stop a guy in his tracks. Don't give your
guy a spinach smoothie or a verry smoothie full of oxalates. Now,
if your current state of health is really good and
your detox pathways are opened, and you've done a liver
flesh and you're feeling optimal, can you have a couple berries?

(13:01):
Can you have some celery, not celery juice, but celery.
Maybe a little spinach in your mixed greens. Maybe, but
don't have that almond milk. Don't have the almond flour
concentrated almonds. You were loading your body up, and guess
what those oxalates love to do, not just bind to
your joints to cause arthritis and pain, but they love

the thyroid. Slow down the thyroid, cause fat game to
go up, slow down your metabolism, cause brain fog really detrimental.
And I was doing tumeric, super toxic to my body.
Kidney stones. I do not recommend passing a kidney stone.

(13:45):
I've had three babies. I'd rather go through the fourth
labor and delivery than pass another kidney stone. It was
not fun. Then you've got the sulfur vegetables. These are
foods that I was eating a ton of and super bloated,
retaining water lymph backup. Did not understand why why, Well,

(14:07):
sulfur foods are great when our grandparents were eating them,
and they were eating them in moderation, and they didn't
have all these toxins backing up their liver. But sulfur
containing foods like garlic, onions, cruciferous vegetables, all the vegetables
in your DIM supplement, in your glue de thion supplement,
in your NAC supplement. These we need them, but the

supplements of them can actually back up the liver, and
that can cause water retention, brain fog, headache, skin rashes, fatigue,
ammonia build up. So even when you are well intended,
and you're probably well intended listening to this podcast, otherwise
you wouldn't be interested, but things could be backfiring. I

want a deep dive. So what are the consequences of
your clog detox pathways? If you're you know, if you're
eating the standard American diet or you're doing all the

(15:15):
right wrong things. Weight gain and fat storage. The body
stores toxins in fat tissue to keep them away from
your vital organs. It's a survival mechanism, and until these
toxins are cleared, weight loss will stall. I don't care
what you eat, how much you run, how much you walk,
getting your steps in orange theory, whatever it is, your

(15:39):
body can't lose weight because these toxins are also screwing
up with your hormones, and we all know that hormones
can cause that weight gain too. Chronic inflammation accumulation of
toxins trigger the immune system increase cytokine production, oxidat distress
and that accelerates your aging and disease. Hormonal balance. Sluggish

(16:01):
liver can't efficiently metabolize estrogen, cortisol, insulin, creating an imbalance
and causing fatigue, anxiety, PMS, menopausal symptoms. And what makes
it worse is when you throw in a medication of hormones,
whether it's thyroid hormones, thyroid medication, insulin for diabetes, or HRT,

your liver has to metabolize and do something with those hormones.
If your liver's backed up, it can't do its job.
So what you're taking in isn't even going to work,
and my backfire. Like everything else, you gotta love on
your liver. You could have brain fog and mood changes,
heavy metals, allogens and they can cross the blood brain barrier,

(16:46):
disrupt neurotransmitters like dopamine and acetyl colon, skin issues, digestive problems.
Your skin is a window to your liver health. Your
skin is when your liver's backed up, livers saying his skin,
I need some extra troops here, and the skin says, oh,
I'm good, I'm your largest detox organ send them my way.

(17:08):
And that's why when you sweat and you sauna and
you get all those toxins out, it's really good for detox,
but you could have rashes, roseaceia, eggs and maas orysis, acne.
All that stuff is your body's saying I need I
need to detox. My liver needs help right and digestive issues.
The body will cause gut issues, leaky gut if you

(17:33):
are full of toxins. So what do we do? How
do we strengthen our detox pathways? Naturally, you want to
support your liver, thyroid, kidneys, and gut, and you don't
want to add in things that could backfire like gluedethion
and NAC. Now those two things our bodies need. But

what we want to do is strengthen our bodies so
our bodies produce them. In our body is a miracle.
It will take care of the job when you give
it the tools. I love when people are throwing on
NAD supplements or stem cells are all of these things

and they're not taking care of the foundation. It's like
building a home on Quicksand. I actually had this conversation
with my husband the other day. He was like, well, Sarah,
I'm doing everything you tell me to do. I'm doing
this and this and this, and I said, are you
taking iodine? Are you taking the accelerating He goes, I'm
not really good at that. And I said, that's like
building a home on quicksand you need the foundation. You

need the first things first, but also you need the
right diet. So number one is prioritizing whole organic food.
When I was growing up, I didn't really understand organic.
I didn't understand why we needed it, but we didn't
really need it because the pesticides in the GMOs were
not at the level they are today. It is now

a non negotiable you need organic food. So you want
to choose food that your great grandparents would recognize, real
unprocessed foods, free of the synthetic chemicals. Okay, try for
the grass fed wild animal protein bison lamb elk venison.

(19:20):
I'm gonna go have some right now after this podcast
for lunch, and I'm gonna take that ground venison. I'm
gonna throw it in a pan with some vegetables. It'll
be done within three minutes. Super easy, super delicious, super cheap,
and my favorite source I'll put the link below if
you're interested, is forcinnature dot com. They have a great array.

(19:41):
It's all very cost effective. Cook it like beef, cook
it like chicken. It's all the same. Make your tacos,
make your meat loaf, make your soups. But the protein
has no amyloids are very limited compared to the conventional
beef and chicken and poultry and pork. Your body can

use all the nutrients that bison is so full of,
those good vitamin bees and the iron and the zinc
and the copper souper yumman. Your body will love you
for it. And it also has the methionine, the glycine
touring all of the amino acids that build your muscle,
hair and skin. And then you want to choose the

right vegetables. Not all vegetables are equal. Get rid of
the oxalates and the sulfur ones. Zucchini, cucumber, let us, asparagus,
those things. I love. Carrots, even the ones with lectins
seem to be okay, like the bell pepper, sometimes eggplants,
sometimes not, depending on the current state of health. You

have to see what your system's reacting to. Now. If
you don't know if these foods are okay for you,
eliminate them for three weeks and introduce one food for
three days and see if you get bloated or constipated
or a brain fog. Your body will tell you need
to hydrate with minerals, not just water, good water, filtered water,
