A reversion to a largely first-choice team for the All Blacks as they open the Rugby Championship against Argentina on Sunday morning in Cordoba.

The return of captain Scott Barrett from a calf injury headlines the side, while Du'Plessis Kirifi gets his second straight test start at openside flanker.

Although the New Zealand side has never lost to the Argentinian team at their home, former All Black Josh Kronfeld told Ryan Bridge that there’s always a chance.

He says they’re giant killers, having beaten all of the top 10 nations, and it all depends on who turns up where.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're into Round one of the Rugby Championship. The AB's
face Argentina Sunday morning. It's nine o'clock our time. At
nine am our time, the Aussies take on South Africa
and Joe Burg and the All Black team naming happens
eight point thirty this morning. Josh Croonfeld is a former
All Black on the show this morning. Good morning, Josh,
good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
You've I you premptably got me on too early, mate.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Sorry, I'm sorry about that. It's a god awful hour
of the day, isn't it. But I appreciate you being here, Josh. Hey,
well obviously waiting on the team naming later this morning.
We know with injuries Roy guards out, are you expecting
any surprises?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Ah, look no, no, look I don't think so. Look,
we've definitely you know, Rais has been very forthcoming about
this whole four four thing, and you know, I think
four guys ready to go on the cab in any position,

(00:58):
and the he's you know, juggled his injuries, you know,
bringing a lock over for to replace a loose forward
and shifted you know, a lock into loose forward positions
and stuff like that, just to get a feel for
you know that he's got players ready to go, so

(01:21):
him maybe picking you know, the new something Simon Parker,
bringing him across him picking that to play against Argy
wouldn't be the wrong thing to do, you know. So no,
I don't think we'll see any surprises into Maybe in

(01:41):
terms of combinations, we might, but I can't see. Look,
everybody's picking themselves by the way they're playing.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Basically, what about the you know, we've never lost to Argentina,
and Argentina no chance of that happening.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Do you think.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Look, there's always the chance of it happening. I mean, krikey,
the Giant Killers now, you know, like they've beaten all
the top ten nations and it all depends on who
tuns up where. And I'm like, you know, playing over
in the country just just bolsters the nation, you know,

(02:21):
like and everybody's there. I mean, they've got a fanatic
crowd and it just it's the whole. Unfortunately, I've never
played over there, so I can't say exactly what it's like.
But we've got to be so in our game now.
Any any sort of slip up or we just don't

(02:42):
quite turn up, we're not quite there. You know they'll
sneak in and get a win. We have to be
switched on, ready to go when we travel in these countries.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
There days, well, I'm hoping they're fully switched on. Sunday morning, Joe,
I appreciate you. Are you still in bed?

Speaker 3 (03:04):
I wondered I was getting those questions, yes that I
said there love on five o'clock, and then I got
up and then then got back into bed and yeah, no, yeah,
there's no way when I don't have to be up
till seven o'clock.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
I'm raised around the house getting my jobs done.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
I'm going to let you go back to sleep. Josh,
you got you got an hour and a half enjoy.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I don't won't be going to leave may I'll just
do a little bit of just give get get my
brain organized ready to go for the day.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Mate.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
That's just how it works.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Appreciate your time. We're looking forward to Sunday Morning. Team
naming eight thirty This morning Josh Confeld former All Black.
