We're learning a few hard truths this week and the old saying rings true - you don't know what you've got 'til its gone.

Parties on the left and the right all crying out for more oil. Turns out, it's actually still quite important.

A decent supply of it at a stable price.

And we're a long way off from that strait opening and running at full capacity again.

Trump's talking victory. Winston told me this week the war will be over before people think. But there are sea mines and rocket launchers and drones hitting that strait. No shipping company, or insurer, is going near there for a while yet.

The uprising we were told would happen hasn't happened. We've go the old boss' son in charge, and they've just killed his mum, dad and most of his family.

He's not giving up anytime soon, is he?

More important than oil is food. We've got the Wattie's plant closures.

The frozen vegetables are grown here. Peas and beans. Like peaches before them, there'll be some cheaper imported alternative filling the shelves.

The farmer's complaints? Regulation. They're drowning in it. Paperwork up the wazoo.

It was the same story with pork.

Again, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.

So once this crisis is over, perhaps we remember how important food and oil are to our daily lives and stop demonising the very people trying to keep our tummies and gas tanks full.

Good morning Brian.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
How are you yeah good? You're a ready to go
for tomorrow?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'll mate, we are. We're amthy medis again my friend?

Speaker 1 (00:25):
What's the lineup looking like this year?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I would say it would be the strongest line up
we've ever put together. We've we've some men, managed to
secure some some pretty good acts like you know, Super
Groove and some of my pretties are coming back. It's
pretty special. And adding in with Hello Sailor fifty years
in the making. I mean, we've got the young, and
we've got the new, we've got the old. It's it's
pretty exciting.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
And are you glad you're not in Wellington?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
We're some beautiful weather at Hamilton that has been so nice.
I'm pretty happy. We think the people on the ground
have I've been complaining out hot of this, so yeah,
I'm pretty happy to be a bback home.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
What are the numbers looking like for you so far, Andrew?
Ticket sales wise.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
They're looking really good. Actually, they're looking really good. We're
we're on trajectory to do what we're trying to do.
So yeah, let's hope we can get to here at
the end.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
You're going to make some money.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Well, that's the governm. I'm not quite sure if we're
ever going to make money at the end and the events,
you know, prices keep going up on things and everything
keeps happening, but we'll do the best care.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
I'm going to ask you about that. The situation within
the Middle East, you know, the air fears going up,
You've got petrol going up, diesel going up, all that
sort of stuff. Does it have an impact on New
Years or is that something for a worry for another day?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Oh? Look, I think they'd be worried for another day.
You know, we're pretty fortunate that everybody if we've got
as local so they're a flying or driving, and that's
already been locked in and done. So yeah, I think
those sort of impacts will roll through probably twelve months time,
and hopefully by then it's all over and we're not
dealing with it.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Great to have a festival that just keeps going. I
know you've moved cities, but you know you're still going.
And I know Woe Matter is coming back, but splors
closing down. What how do you keep one running and
make sure that you're not having to throw it on
the bin because of the cost.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Oh look, it gets harder and harder, and I'm not
going to lie about that. You know, costs and everything
keep going up and there's only so much you can
charge for a ticket, so you know, the bit in
the middle just keeps getting smaller and smaller. So yeah, no,
it is tough, but you know, people that are still
doing it are still fighting the fine fight and doing

(02:36):
the best they can to hold it together for that
for that period of time until things go back to
normal and then we'll be away again.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Hey, good luck for tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Hey, thank you so much having us and you know,
no worry still.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Got tickets left? I understand too, So you can grab
one if you're in the troll Andrew Truck, Andrew Tuck,
I should say Homegrown Festival found that.
