Formula One driver Liam Lawson has been handed the keys to a Red Bull again - this time for the Spanish Grand Prix on Monday.

This marks his third consecutive opportunity warming Isack Hadjar's seat, as the latter continues recovering from a wrist injury.

Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave speculates further ahead of next week's race.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Darcy Watergrave, host of Sports Talkers with us. Hey, Darce.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Hey, Hedda, how you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Yeah, I'm good, mate. So Liam Lawson, he's got the seat?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Yeah, he has. Isaac Hedja, still that hairline fracture. It
hasn't expanded and turned into a canyon, but they're afraid
of that. So he's not going to be running in Madrid.
Interesting old race this weekend. No one knows what's going
to happen. It's a learning track for everybody. So we
hope that Liam Lawson, after a pretty average time at Monza,
I mean, he got rolled by his partner in the

(00:31):
form of Max Verstappen when he tried to help him out.
He crashed into someone. He had to start from the
back of the grid. Underwhelming experience at Monza. But Madrid,
this is going to be a very interesting circuit. And
he's a pretty quick learner as Liam Lawson. So a
lot of responsibility on him not to stick it into
the scenery, the wall or any of the other drivers
as well. But really pleased for him and the Lawson

(00:52):
family that they get another crack.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yeah, cool. Hey, are you at Warriors Training?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Well, I was at Warriors training, and now I'm in
Peter's Uber with Billy and Kobe and Corbin, and we've
just come back from there. They are lovely boys.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
They are lovely boys. Okay, but the other boys, was
Dallin running? Is he going to be playing?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
No, well, he didn't come up to the lounge. We
were having interviews. We were up there talking to all
the players. They rolled them all out for all the
media because they're going to be presented on Grata as
of tomorrow. They'll be hiding them. at Mountain Smart, so
they're fully prepped. So we got to chat with a
few of the players, you know, talk a bit of
this and a bit of that, and I've decided that

(01:35):
James Fisher-Harris is even scarier in the flesh than he
is on the park. Honestly, Heather, his eyes look straight
through you. You swear that he's looking at the back
of your head through your eyeballs and your brain. It's
quite extraordinary, but I tried to be as cool as
a cucumber. It didn't work. But anyway, so I've had
a lot of conversations with lots of players around, including

(01:55):
Adam Pompey. I think we'll hear from Adam Pompey tonight
on the show as well. So lots to talk about.
It's a big finals week.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Good on you, mate. Enjoy the Uber ride with the
rest of the boys. It's Darcy Watergrave, Sports Talk host, 422.
