D'Arcy Waldegrave: Sportstalk host on Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates returning to the White Ferns

Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates will return to the White Ferns for five games against South Africa, as the defence of the T20 World Cup looms in June.

Neither featured in the Zimbabwe series - the first time a New Zealand squad was named without one or the other since 2006.

Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave explains further.

Well, Sovie Divine's actually retired from One Day internationals see
but for cover Team Love she's back for the T
twenty defense the World Cup coming up in June. Unfortunately
for Susi Baits she had a carth issue, so she's
been recovering since mid November I think it was, so
she's back in the Fold again as well. Georgia Plmmer

is back in the Fold two. So it's a fifteen
strong T twenty side that's been named. It's South Africa,
who are ranked fifth in the world. He's said on
the rank fourth in the world. There's some very good
players of South Africans. So there's five games and they've
got a fifteen person squad. A couple of the players
likely to who's also just retired from One day internationals,

have got the last three games. Paully Englis has got
the first couple, so they're giving some players some balance
to prove because they've got that squad that's going to
be named and when they get over there and defend that.
So it was a great news for Sezi Bates because
she's been frustrated as you would be as well, constantly
recovering from something banging straight back Indo. Again, it's the

you can argue it's the peak of the summer of
cricket for the women and it's autumn. But this is
an old story where I was going on about this note,
but like I'm looking forward to it. It should be good.
It's five T twenties and three One day Internationals and

I have a long standing theory that part of the
decline of rugby is because it's so bloody boring because
we don't have any good storylines and we forget that
like they are not humans and this is a perfect
storyline and they should own it. And I can't wait
to see the footage of it.

what we're going to do is going to make up
