Heatha Edwards: real estate agent and social media star on her viral videos

If you've spent time scrolling social media, you would have seen Hawke’s Bay's latest star.

Heatha Edwards has been selling homes in Hawke’s Bay for more than three decades, but recently 'Heatha from Harcourts' has been racking up millions of views and international coverage.

She says her social media fame has meant extra business for Harcourts, with more of her content getting attention from investors. 

"That's just me being me - I get a lot of feedback that people like things because they're real, they're not sort of overly-enhanced or AI or overly scripted."

So those twins we are winning twins. But how I'm
here the stock standard spelling with an eer? How do
you end up with an A at the end?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Oh? What a boring story that is. I don't know
whether you love your name, but you know, thanks mum,
Thanks Jed absolutely faking hate it. I believe us called
off a knitting patent or something, but I hated it
and they said it all. Change your name then, And
so when I was about six, I put an a
at the end and it kind of stuck genuinely.

Okay, So and the decision, the decision you made as
a six year old, is still a good decision.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
But it just is. And you just get on with
it and yeah, it's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
How many followers?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
What? Yeah, I'm happy with it.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Or you're happy with it? All good? How many followers
have you got now on the social media? Ooh, read
to me here that somebody said to me more than
twenty thousand followers on Instagram, which is pretty impressive.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
That's correct, is it?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I think? So?

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, I know it's over twenty one, but I didn't
realize it was impressive. But okay, I think I'm new
to this stuff. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
It's because you do in real estate. Your videos are
a bit wacky. What inspired you to go wacky with
your videos?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Crumb's wacky, that's just me being me, lots of I
guess I get a lot of feedback that people like
things because they're real. They're not sort of overly enhanced
or AI or overly scripted or plastic.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, it's just real. Do you read it? Does it
actually get your property some profile?

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Like?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Is it actually working for the vendors?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Well, I think so. I mean twenty eight Wat Street
which went absolutely crazy. I think that's had nearly two
million views alone. It's a modest, pleasant, little three bedroom
home in why Power and he certainly I've got buyer
interest in that. And it's interesting that you get off
social media. I'm picking up investors asking sensible questions and

wanting me to send all the information.

Interestingly, Is it true that you got recognized in Melbourne
the other day?

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yes? By home? Yes, a complete unknown random on the
other side of the street.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
A kiwi in Melbourne or an aussy?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
It was a Keiwi. He's been there for a few years.
Apparently he couldn't wait to rush over the street, nearly
got himself squashed to the process to let him to
let me know that he was from Bluff originally.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Oh brilliant, I'll got on your mate. Well, best of Like,
how's the mark?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
By the way, the market's too long? Quite nicely in
the last thirty one winters. Winter has always been my
busiest time a year.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
That's bizarre.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Why I don't question it. I don't know where I mean.
I can't answer for the whole country. Every different area
is completely different than one's having a busy time and
one isn't for me. I don't know whether it's a
combination of summer and Hawk's Bay. It's too hot, school holidays,
you've got all the rallies, you're on holiday yourself, you've
just looked at your Christmas credit card bills and decided

not to do anything. But it just is and it
certainly it's a good time to look at a property
because you're seeing it at its absolute worst.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
That's too right. If you can sell a house and winter,
then you're a good agent. Hey, thank you very much,
