Scott Robertson's axing as All Blacks coach has prompted speculation about who will replace him in the top job.

Robertson was relieved of his duties two years into a four-year contract, following a scathing review that found multiple frailties within the team and reports of player unrest.

Sportstalk host Jason Pine weighed in on what we know so far, and addressed the rumours that Jamie Joseph  could replace Razor.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jason Pines with us the ends that got the vibes
and got rid of Razor. They made the big call,
and now Jamie Joseph is considered the obvious choice. Jason Yeah, Goday,
Ryan Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
That seems to be the popular or the commonly held
view that Jamie Joseph is the man in waiting. Of course,
New Zealand Rugby got him into the tent at the
back end of last year coaching the New Zealand fifteen,
that the second fifteen whatever you want to call it,
up north last year. He's got international experience. If he
can somehow convince Tony Brown, who is currently on the

(00:31):
coaching staff of South Africa, to break that contract and
come back and join him, I think that would be
almost the icing on the cake. Other names are being
thrown around as well. They all nerd someone quickly, though.
I think the All Blacks are even meant to be
assembling either the weekend just gone or next weekend for
a sort of a pre Super Rugby camp. I'm not
sure who's sort of organized it or who was taking it,

(00:53):
but yeah, we wait with interest to see who gets
the big gig. Do we know?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Is there a timeline yet?

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Not that we've seen. David Kirk said that they don't
have a preconceived idea, but what do we now mid January?
You wouldn't want to mauck around too much.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Now black Caps have beaten in there in the ODI series.
Is this significant?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Absolutely? I found twelve guys Williamson, Latham, Alan Ferguson, Seiphered, Duffy,
Satna Ravendra, Henry Nisham, O'Rourke Sodi who weren't there. That's
twelve guys who ordinarily would be in the mix for
our white ball sides. To go to India with a
relatively inexperienced side and win over there for the first
time ever in a one day series is very significant

(01:31):
and it nicely leads into the T twenty World Cup
when a bunch of the guys I just mentioned will
be coming back in. I know it's a different format,
but confidence breeds confidence. So yeah, good start to the
calendar year for the black Caps.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Brilliant Jason, good to see you, good to have you
