food stops have rolled out the supermarket?

I'm aware? Adjacent? Is it? Peck and Saved today and
they asked me for a card and I hang on,
this is new and I didn't have one and I
haven't even heard about it.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yeah, well free stuff, said Peck and Save New World
four square and the consolidated all their schemes this week
into this club card plus. So I thought this was
quite good for me because I do my my shopping
it back and safe so I can get some yalty points.

So I went there a couple of times this week
to a spend and sat down to day to work out, well,
what am I getting here. Nothing, You get no points,
say for this thing.

The old classic?

Yeah, nothing? And you know, I dug into the website
and looked at the tents and two layers into their FAQs.
Here was a statement saying, well, because we already bring
you our goods at the best possible market price, you're
not giving any points. So I sat back on my
scratch man and I thought, what's the point of this?
Then it dawned on me. This is nothing but a

mechanism for data gathering.

Yeah, you know, they're farming you.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
And you know, I don't know. I'm not a lawyer
or anything. I doubt if it's illegal, but I think
it's pretty sharp practice. A bit annoyed about it.

Excellent, I'm annoyed for you being annoyed. You must you
must get a discount, do you Well?

The only thing you got previously was fuel discounts, you know,
and you still get that, So you're not any worse off,
but you are no better off.

But are there specials on the supermarket you only get
if you've got the Club plus card?

Presumably, But I haven't received any information about them yet.

I think the advantages are pretty minimal, so I just
sort of think the whole thing's in pretty bad face
through me.

I'm just stuck in this traffic down in Wellington. I've
been I caught up with the traffic at five o'clock
tonight at the bottom of a tread and mission gully
and I still haven't even got to Tawa yet.

how far is it to the bottom of Transmission gully
to Tawa?

Good evening markets the Club Plus card. Just yesterday, I
have a new will which I'm updated, and at Peck
and Save, the woman explained to me that although you
can use the card there, there's no you don't get anything.

But when I made my payment, she said, oh, you
didn't wipe your card and I said, no, nothing in
from Yeah, that's what I said. All you're after is information.
And I said, can I the credit I've got from
you will? Can I extend it at peck and say?
You know? And she says, oh, h no, we don't.

We don't deal in the credits. So what's going on.

It's a no, God, this is crazy. It's the last
thing Peck and Save. The thing about Peck and Save
just every day cheap prices.

We liked it.

They didn't have the cards or the theffing around. I'm furious. Right, Yes,
we're not card people at Peck and Save. We're there
because we like the aisles. Uh flub.

I mean I do always shop Peck and Same. I
think my credit from you will only a few dollars,
you know, ten dollars or something over the last six months.
But I just thought it was funny that they they're
obviously just gathering data from you there.

No, And because I even at my peck and say,
they're not even selling it, they're not even liked. Where

was asking her about it. When it came to my turn,
she said, have you got a club class card? And
I said yes, and and then I did my transaction,
and you know you didn't talk your cards, and I said, no, no,
no sense of no advantage from me.

Well, it seems strange that that even you know and
say if it wasn't for anything other.

Now the club card, we've got the new world old card.
When you get a new club card, they transfer all
your balance, credit, whatever you got into the new card.
So when you go to pack and save a fourth squad,
you got to swipe your card and say if you
got ten dollars or twenty dollars, you once you swipe

your card, you can use your money what you've accumulated
in your New World card. That's what I was told.
Because that man didn't swipe his card, that's why he
couldn't use his Whatever money is accumulated, that's how it works.
I made sure I asked them before I even applied
for it. So that's that's the reason. That's what happened

Okay, so that's the case, but thank you. June three,
three past eight. A lot of people in the traffic
at Tawa and they're grumpy. Marcus a bit grumpy sitting

because the closure is on the southbound lane.

you're coming down State Hawaii one, just just after well
just at that big turn off at Sir Joseph Stewart,
you go on, say fifty eight and go across Haywoods
and then down State Highway too.

I think people need to take a brief because for
weeks now we've been given a pamphlet explaining all about
this new card, and it is actually an extra benefit
that we can now go to the plaza and pack
and save as well as New world. Now, it might
show on your docket that you've got no you've saved

no money this week because those things that you've bought
are not on the club Card specials, but were with
that card. We get the club Card specials, those points
end up with dollars, and yes, and money has been
ultimately transferred to the new card. You know, I saved
twenty something dollars last week. I save nothing this week.

It just depends what you're buying. But you're still getting
the points to add up to your dollars.

good thing because I got enough points from Wars last
year before Christmas, and that gave me enough points to

so they they're worth it, and that was so much
paid for the ham.

small items, but there were Yeah, they were just like

Yeah, so I'm getting the new I'm getting the new
card to the purple one that's coming in the mail.
And you've got to have your computer on to get
if you're doing it from home and you haven't got
a cell phone. What you do is you're ringing the
number and have your computer on. And I was busy

trying to do a four digit number on the computer,
but it didn't work. So the I come through to
me and it took my address and everything. So I'm
now waiting for my new card to come through. And
you can see it when you look at the computer
or at different parts like in the tabet or something

Or are others slightly shocked and consumed with how compliant
people are with these cards. Here we are with the
Adiopoli making billions out of us every year, and we
get bits and bobs and we're ecstatic. This feels like
the Smegnive frenzy all over again. I just want cheaper
everyday prices, That's what we want, and never asking for

a flipping card. A number of times I got a
new one. You see something cheap, you grab in ther
you need some special reward. That's not a good day
for me because I'm not a card guy. Lost the
wallet about six months ago. The license, the swipe card
something else, but I got nowhere to put my cards.
But oh, you were giving away our agency. They're farming

our data. They're looking at our trolley virtually, and actually
they've got a profile for us. Next thing, they're probably
tied up with the insurance company, and so you can't
have health insurance because you're eating too many high shoes
and bounty bars or something. They'll sell that data to another,
to the life insurance. They say you've had an unhealthy diet.

You'll be on the pork crackling, and they connect that
to your insurance premiums. Data's worth money, data da da
da da dada twenty five to nine because the shoe
market went great guns because there's peace in the east.
But the deal's off. And as for that reflecting pool,
they painted it blue and then it turned green. Now
all the blue paint's peeled off. I've been following that story.

What a disaster. What a metaphor. I've never been a
more telling metaphor. Anyway, No line's free. I hope you're

talking about our head office markets Marcus. Good evening, and

To own a pack and save to get to the
level where you own a pack and save as to
effectively to win lotto, you end.

Many of these owners have ended up on the.

Rich list cash assets hundreds of millions of dollars. Yet
they do not have enough decency in them to turn
around and reward their shoppers. But the rest of the network,
in terms of New World and four Square, are doing
because they claim you're already getting a great price for

their sticknare no, No, you're selling me garbage. You're selling
me low grade meat. You're selling me cheap of everything,
and you're making a fortune off it. And you're not
showing me any respect by rewarding me for any loyalty
apart from a couple of cents off some petrol which
your fence in and by that you know they get

in cheap Boris third third party shell.

Sorry z, this is disgraceful.

What they what did they even bother with us? We're
happy with not having a card. We don't want the
New World card. Nonsense, we don't want that. We just
wanted to shop where everyone there was no tricky things.
I can't work out why they did it. While they
went down this road.

Well, it's absolutely a data grab, but it's it's it's disingenuous.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Such a data grab.

In terms of a reward scheme that is anything but
for pack and save shoppers, anything but for those people
often in underserved communities or in we know we're backing
saves are situated those communities deserve as much respect for
their dollar as the dollar spent at New World or
the dollar spent at four Square. That is what food

stuffs are not doing here. They are not respecting. They
are not valuing that dollar spent at one place as
they are and not spent at another part of their network.
Disgraceful business practice. They do not respect their customer.

Why'd they do it?

I'd say it's cost recovery.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
They've drought attention to themselves. But that someone offers them, okay,
we're going to give you millions to have the data
of your customers because they're a vulnerable group. Is that
what's happened?

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Highly likely their business model and philosophy is to bleed
on you know, their margin gatherers right everything, and they'll
go on, oh, we only make two percent, three percent
at most on hundreds of millions of dollars. There's a
huge amount of money. Two percent, three percent of that

turnover is massive.

Well, you're right about unbelievable. Right about the rich list,
A lot of them were people with peckin saves.

I'm no jealous, cap, I'm no jealous. I'm no jealous person.
But I think if you have been blessed, you should
turn around and give back if you can, and these
people can.

I don't know if they're involved charity.

Are they as much charity it's respecting customers.

I say, I've never seen them in this situation where
they're giving. I've never seen them being involved in giving.
I know one of them the crowds was involved with
buying a basketball team, but I've never seen them involved

Not particularly that look their wholeful lot. I don't think
the philosophy is very community minded. Let's just leave it
a don I think this will this will set off
this evening.

but there's no discounts with it. Apparently that's what's the
discussions about. Yeah, like the sweet that's why we're talking
about it because someone said, hey, they've gone to the

those points that you might shop a New World and
four Square in all of the stores, including Pack and
Save now, So that's the difference. It's a bit like
