Speaker 1 (00:07):
You're listening to the Marcus lush Night's podcast from News Talks.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
A't be you saidn't good evening, A welcome on himss
Marcus Settel twelve o'clock. Seems as though this weather event
is fairly serious. On hundred and fifty mills of rain
between well overnight and Wellington, that's fifteen cents, that's four inches.
That's a fair bit of rain. So they talk about
roof's being lifted also too, so that's a situation as

(00:31):
we go into tonight. A Klebernie properly has lost its
roof that's out on the flat near the airport. Also too,
there have been winds of one forty kilometers per hour
up Mount Coco, so that's a situation too, so extremely
strong winds. There are rain warnings also in force. Now

(00:54):
it's getting dark, well I imagine it is dark, and
if you've got updates for us on the weather, I
am sure that is of interest to people. So the
wind the rain warnings rather have been upgraded to red
and will run until Tuesday night. So any information you've

(01:14):
got about that or any iron the sky type stuff,
let us know what's happening. Yes, there's three heavy rain warnings.
That's the red. The first is for the Widered Up
are expect eighty to one to twenty mills to accumulate,
but two hundred to eighty over the ranges in coastal hills.

(01:38):
Threat to life from dangerous for a condition significant flooding
and slips. Conditions will disrupt travel, make some roads impassable,
and isolate communities join in to floodwaters. And for the
Wellington excluding expect one hundred to one fifty mills around
the eastern Hills and Hut Valley and lesser mounths elsewhere.

(02:01):
These are in addition to the rain that's already fallen.
It's going to be heavy. It could be forty four
at forty mills per hour. That's the second of the
wind of the rain warnings. So yeah, so a lot
going on. If you've got some if you're out and
about driving or just you can tell us some information
about what it's like on the ground. Let us know.

(02:22):
So free Wet and Wellington, Freewit and the Wided Upper
and I'll do my damned just to bring you all
the information. Tonight they are saying there's a threat to
life from the river conditions Wellington City Council says the
number of properties affected by today's extremely heavy rain is
relatively small, but the damage in some areas are severe. Houses,

(02:42):
vehicles and other properties and suburbs including Happy Valley, Brooklyn,
Brenpoor and South could already have sustained serious damage. So yeah,
they're going to go a case by case basis where
the things should be red sticked. All of Wellington City
Council public as they're closed this evening remain closed tomorrow.
This includes libraries, park cemeteries, communities centers and swimming pools

(03:04):
as a Landyr, Wellington Museum, SpacePlace, Capital, East Saint James
Opera House and Tearsby are also closed. The Zoos closed
and probably will be closed tomorrow and more severe weather
is expected. Gosh, there's been a lot of it, hasn't there.
So if you've got an update on that for us,
I'd appreciate that. I think it's probably a fairly important
thing to keep you across that tonight too. There is

(03:26):
a state of emergency in Wellington. Streets and homes flooded.
The Mount Victoria Tunnel was temporarily closed. Residents on Kaninni Street,
Weatherby Street Arasas Street and Way Nuiya Mutter are being
evacuated to rising due to rising water levels. Teams are
going door to door. They're asking people not to wait

(03:47):
and leave immediately. You need to evacuate. The Council's encouraging
people to head to friends or family first for those
who need shelter. These hubs remain open throughout the night.
Kora Nui Stokes, Fairley Neighborhood Hub, Way Nuia Mutter Neighborhood Hub,
Walton nesh Center, Data War Memorial Center, Library, Central Hut,
Eastbourne Neighborhood Hub. So there will be people evacuated. If

(04:10):
you've got an update and the bridges across the Putt
River have closed because of the rain, that's Kennedy, Good
and Meling bridges will close at eight pm. So yeah,
that's a situation there. Oh eight hundred eighty ten eighty
and nine two nine two detect if you want to
come through. You've got some updates for us. I will
do what I can to scare the papers or papers websites.
I suppose to give you more information also to Facebook

(04:32):
and Civil Defense. I'll bring that information to you tonight.
I find it personally. The weather has been well. I
know it sounds self centered, but the weather has not been.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Boy.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Actually, I've been out for a walk and it's kind
of blustering down south. But there's just so much of
it these days is in there. It's hard to keep
up to and it's hard to really get a sense
of what's happening. So if you've got some more information
for us, that would be appreciated, appreciated, Oh, eight hundred
eighty ten eighty and nine two. Yeah, But the latest
thing is the winds off the guild, that the roof's

(05:02):
being lifted, the windlifting the roofs off the Kilberni property,
and the closing of the bridges and the streams, and
one that we mutter yep. So if you've got any
more information, let us snow. Oh eight hundred eighty ten
eighty And the last train from Wellington to Marsterton was
canceled tonight. I don't know what happens to those people.

(05:22):
You're fairly it'll be a fairly long drive up through
a wet across the rimatucks in the rain. But take
care wherever you are. If you've got some information, let
us know, oh eight hundred eighty ten eighty there was
talk of a snowfall warning for porters pass that has
that has been canceled. I think that's a good sign.
So there we go. There's a situation. Keep those texts

(05:43):
coming through two nine two nine to if you have
got a text not happening tonight, isn't there goodness? The weather,
the political storm? Ah, oh, there's an earthquake too. Oh
it's off Japan. But thanks for that earthquake upgrad It's
was seven point five, So I've got an earthquake in Japan. Also,

(06:04):
I'll do some information work out of we've got any
updates on that, Thanks for the person that texted that through.
So it's a seven point four, a big earthquake. There
is a tsunami warning. An earthquake with the problem of
Magi seven point four is stuck off the northeastern coast
of Japan. Could you ever have looked down and see

(06:25):
how far that often, how serious it's going to be,
And we'll see if I can bring some information to
them on that. We all remember Fakashima. Yeah, Toby, it's Marcus.
Thanks for calling and good evening.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Yeah, I'm just sitting on terrific controller at the moment,
I just thought, I think you've made that State highway too,
from Marsterden down to Carleton. Well, it's the north sak
Rade roundabouts, east any Road roundabout as closed.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Sure, a severe flooding.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Let me just bring that up on when you say
you're traffic control whereabouts are you?

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (07:03):
So state highway? So what you're saying is State Highway
two between Masterton and Carterton as closed?

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Uh yeah, half of it?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Okay, just one okay.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
It's from the roundabouts just south of Masterden. There's a
roundabout cord Norfolk Road roundabout. We've closed it up there.
There's a detail going around down to Carleton and it's
also closed northbound lane from East Road.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Yep to Northfolk Groade.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
So what's the situation there is it? Is it really
bucketing down at the moment? Oh yeah, sure, and it
hasn't eased at all.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
No, not at all.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Okay, anyone stuck or any cars flooded or anything like that.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
No, no, no, we've managed to prevent that from opening.
Okay now for year, as long as people stick to
the road wolves in the traffic conditions, in the traffic signs.
There's a lot of way closers out.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Because I imagine we're the diversions. You got to get
around that river. You have to go a while away
to get around that, would you?

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Sorry?

Speaker 7 (08:14):
What was that?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Well, the diversions, it's not straightforward, is it.

Speaker 8 (08:18):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Yeah, the detours are quite straightforward. I suppose if you're
just follow the detour signs, you'll will get you on
your way.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Okay, you you got good with weather gear, Toby, Yeah, definitely. Okay,
you keep trying. Thanks for the report. I appreciate that,
thank you. So there we go. We'll check on the
road closures. That's a good point because there's probably plenty
of them. Bubble check on that. I'll walk a guitar
he that and get those to you if you want
to come through. If you've got any more updates. There
US No. Eight hundred and eighty and nine nine to

(08:46):
de tict, So a lot of road closures. I suspect
and very free. They always say that don't go out,
but you know, sometimes people have to be places. The
Judah flooding State Higway too is closed from East Tatatahi
Road to Cornwall Road, so it's across the bridge. It's
already across the river. That's why I got confused with
that one. They're saying us it all Turnate wrote route

(09:09):
that will be until further notice. That's one of the
road closures I've got. That's the main one. And the
situation too on the upper hut that's the lower huts.
Plenty of road closures there as well. But get in
touch if you've got the situation information. Just looking for
information about that earthquake. This has just happened in Japan.

(09:31):
It seems like it's really close. Looking at the map
just Dan has sent me, it seems it's about it's
a big quake. It's about picking at fifty k's off
the main island of Japan. It's a seven point four quake.
So I'm doing what I can to get more information
on that. If anyone else has got any information, let
me know what they have got for you. Seventeen past done,

(09:51):
eight o'clock. The number is eight hundred and eighty ten
e those texts coming through, Marcus, great to have your back.
Final have married at first sight tonight. It' so probably
ninety percent men listening. Thanks Phil. Yeah, please have avoided that.
I'm addictive by nature, and each day I air punch
and count my luckies. He stars. It's not for me
married at first sight. I mean, each to your own.
I don't want to bar your watching it. But when

(10:13):
the magic source of a TV program is vulnerable people
with unrealistic, unrealistic expectations, been fed alcohol into a stressful situation,
then filmed, never going to end. Well, Marcus, have you
heard anything about the internet been out and whether there
is an ETA for affixed? I live in Carpety. It's
been out for about five hours now. We don't have

(10:35):
anything about that, do we. Dan Chorus have outages reported.
No restoration time has been set. So the good news
as they're on to it. The bad news is no info.
So there we go. That's a situation there. If you
got any more information, let us know. Marcus just texting.

(10:56):
You need to request the updates you can get from
authorities regarding the Upper Hut the Hut rib levels tonight.
There is talk that they will be closing the bridges.
As they close the bridges eight o'clock, I take it
they're just worried about debris rather than river height. Question
mark at Moonshine Road, Upper Hut. Yeah, Look, I don't
know the situation. Someone said, there's a power outage in

(11:19):
Stokes Valley Lower Hut. Now, thank you. Someone says tsunami
LUD has been issued on NHK. Do we know what
HK is? It's all happening tonight, doesn't. Let me just
have a quick look about that. I'll just google Japan
tsunami obviously to it won't be affecting New Zealand. But
last time there was a tsunami in Japan, the footage

(11:40):
was extraordinary. That took out Fukushima, didn't it. So yes,
a tsunami warning has been issued a mess of seven
point four earthquake. I'll get on one of the new
channels too to see if I can see anything. So
bring some more information to you. Well, it's all happening tonight.
And I don't know what else you want to talk
about tonight too, But that's a non curated talk. I

(12:03):
just feel we've got to keep it loose because I
don't know what's going to be as far as breaking
news for people, so I'm mindful of that. But anything
else you do want to talk about tonight, feel free
to start the whole ball rolling. Oh eight hundred and
eighty ten eighty and nine nine to detext. We'll do
what I can to keep you updated about any situation
in the south of the North Island. Now a strong

(12:25):

issued by authorities. I'm looking at the BBC World foot
of John that I'll bring that to you. You've done
great work with a text so far, just telling you
some of the other news that's happening. The Internet seems
to be out in places, there's power out in places,
there's bridges closed, there's roads closed. Any updates bring them through.

nine twos. I'm looking forward to breaking news if you've
got that on the situation with Wellington. Evacuations are underway

(14:05):
in Lower Hut and that's because of the rising levels.
They say lower Hut, but really it's why No your mutter,
which always confuses me. Kininny Street, Weatherby Street and Ratas Street,
Hut valleys or the huts. The council are going door
to door, but they're asking people not to wait and
leave immediately. If you want shelter, it's open at Kuda

(14:29):
NUIs Stokes Fairly Neighborhood Hub, Why no you mutter, Neighborhood Hub,

(14:50):

don't know how deep it is yet, but they have
I don't think New Zeno will be affected, but it's probably.
I'm looking at footage now on the BBC. I sue
that might be the straight of Hole moves. It's hard
to know these days, isn't it. How do I know
if it's Japan? How I enough the straight all moves?

(15:10):
I think it's Japan because the ships are moving and
we've got a car that's been stolen. Keep an eye.

stolen car before. Are in Why Romeo November Yankee thirty one?

not be taken lightly. Group Controller Jed Shirley says stay

canceled that, Marcus. And in Tokyo at the moment, it
just felt the earthquake felt like been at home in
christ Church. So it's been felt in Tokyo. Gosh, it
is all happening. Robbed near you thirty one, Marcus. Also,
all roads of Taranaki are All roads north of Tadanhaki
are closed. Taranaki is isolated to the north. I haven't

(17:42):

want to talk on a eight hundred and eighty ten
eighty and nine two nine two detects are looking forward
to what you've got to say tonight, and the other
thing too. I'm looking on the BBC too. We've got
this Japan earthquake seven point five magnitude undersea quake off
Pan Coast, prompts for him to make Gavin round yesterday

(19:10):
said there be a lot of earthquakes because of the
sun activity. I don't know if you're in the South Island.
When was it? Was it last night? Saturday night?

Speaker 10 (19:19):
Aurora?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Unbelievably good and it was early. We ubed the hill
about eight o'clock. But fantastic images. Slight bit of color,
yellows and greens, but unbelievable Aurora, Australlas and yeah, so
that was pretty interesting. So a lot seems to be
going on anyhe get in touch if you want to
be on air tonight, if there's something else you want
to mention. Oh, by the way, just other news too.

(19:40):
If you've got a kindle, You ever have a kindle?
Always thought they were a little bit kind of I
never fell in love with the technology. I was never
a kindle user, but people that had their kindle seemed
to swear by them. They're on their way out. So
what's happening with the kindle is it's no longer the

(20:02):
books you've got on it. You can keep reading, but
new books not m So there you go. You might
be a kindle person, but they're on their way out,
so we're no longer going to get them the oldest
version of the kindle. So there we go. That's a
situation that's happening. So I can tell you that the
newer kindles will still work, but your old ones no good.

(20:24):
So that's a situation there. They've been put out to pasture.
Now I'm looking at footage of the Japanese coast on
the back of this earthquake. What they will have had there.
They'll had very good warning systems because you'll get it
on your phone over there. I think that's one place
you'd know when it's going to happen. But I'm looking
at standard cameras on the BBC. They're now coming in

(20:45):
and looking for change in the water level. I can't
see it yet, but I'll keep you posted on that.
People looks, oh, yeah, there seems to be water surging
in now it's not coming on land, but there certainly
seems to be a regular water activity there, So I'll
keep you posted on that. Twenty six away from nine. Hey, Sam,

(21:09):
it's Marcus. Thanks for calling in. Good evening.

Speaker 11 (21:12):
Yes, good evening, Marcus. We got sent home from work
at three. I work at Bridge Street, near bottom of
the Normandale Bridge in Lower Hut and I actually live
a minute bike ride from work, so I was thinking,
shall I don my wet weather gear and going for
a waltz and have a look because I can actually
see the main Hut Bridge from my balcony and usually

(21:38):
you can see sirens, sorry emergency vehicles coming over or
see vehicles traveling over it at various times, and periodically
we've had sirens coming down the motorway from Meling to
Malling this evening. But I can actually I could email
you a short video from the balcony which shows the

(21:59):
rain coming down in the wind and such.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Because I've got the store.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
So you live on brit you work on Bridge Street
and where do you live?

Speaker 11 (22:06):
I live on Farreson Street.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Tell me where I've got Bridge Street up on the map?

Speaker 6 (22:10):
Was that?

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Oh yeah, I could see withere faris and street is
now okay, So so.

Speaker 11 (22:14):
I'm running to fern Hill. Then zoom in on you'll
see fern Hill Modolodge there.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Oh yeah, copy that yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. I
can see. Okay, see you're fifty one hundred meters from
the river. Has it been raining all day there?

Speaker 11 (22:27):
Yeah? Mate, yeah, yeah, I even Usually I jump on
me treadley and shoot home. It totally takes me a
minute come home and cook myself a salmon and cream
cheese muffin or something like that and then go back
to work. But it was so dire at ten thirty,
coming down pretty heavy. I just didn't have stayed at
work and had some soup and a cup. But I

(22:49):
did come home in the afternoons, I was getting a
little bit hungry, and so I got back to work.
I went a little bit later. I got back to
work at ten past two, and by three o'clock we
were shutting up and leaving.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
Can you give me a historical context? Is the river?
I haven't heard of them closing the bridges across the
Hut River before. Is this something that's happened.

Speaker 11 (23:06):
Yeah, I've not heard of them shutting the main bridges
very often. But she must be getting up there. I
don't even know if Silver Stream Bridge has been shut.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
So we're talking that. We're talking there. There's wayone bridge,
there's the there's the is.

Speaker 11 (23:22):
Near the actual outlet into the harbor.

Speaker 12 (23:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Then there's the Then there's the rail bridge. Then there's
the way Way, a bridge near Bridge Street where you
are right, and then there's the milling.

Speaker 11 (23:29):
Link one and they think the Meling Bridge, which I
can't remember what they call that. There's Kennedy Good Bridge,
and then there's another one I can't remember the name
of it. But the KGB I think is the the
one that goes from the roundabout over into.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Loving KGB. Was it stand for Kennedy Good Bridge? Did
a person Kitnedy Good?

Speaker 13 (23:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Well, hey tell me something, I like you. Why are
they Why are they closing the bridges? Is it? Is
it because the river is going to go onto the road,
or it's because the danger the cars, or it won't go.

Speaker 11 (24:07):
On it won't go onto the road. Those bridges are
both pretty high up. When people are walking across them,
I yell out for a bit of a last thing.
Don't do it, it's not worth it.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
That's an interesting thing to say.

Speaker 11 (24:17):
But but they're well up. The bridges are well up,
so it would definitely be I'd assume the flow and
any debris I.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Think because his bikeways decide too that'd be your major concern,
wouldn't they those trails. Would it come up onto that Letland?
Will it go up there?

Speaker 11 (24:34):
Oh yeah, it'll definitely be up onto the Lapland and
in the riverbank just basically right at the end of
my work driveway, which is on Marston Street.

Speaker 12 (24:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (24:43):
Basically it's one of those sort of near vertical riverbank things,
and that those are probably ten to fifteen feet high
off the road. I thought the street.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
I thought Letpland was the right word, but in my panic,
I couldn't think of something better. I'm talking about those
sort of that what would be the right word?

Speaker 11 (25:01):
I know Headland is the end of a row.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah, what would be called the the walkways beside the
river is just call it that. There still stop banks
are still bucking down at the moment.

Speaker 11 (25:12):
Yes, yeah, there's the main light at Fernhill Motor and
I actually, if I'm not sure if it's raining or not,
I look at that and see I can see the
raining home past the floodlight light.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
And tudor looking place the old fern Hallay.

Speaker 11 (25:28):
Yeah, I'm I'm at farres In House, yeah, which has
been here since nineteen twenty eight, so it's ninety eight
years old.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Wow.

Speaker 11 (25:34):
And from my balcony, I can look out to the
left and I can actually see the lights at Meling,
at the Meling traffic lights.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
There are the train from that are the trains going.

Speaker 11 (25:45):
Well, not this rail, not this line because the train
station is missing and the rail has been lifted because
they're doing the mailing interchange from here, so we actually
farris And Street has been blocked off halfway down and
then all the t Kadrangi is being taken place where
they're doing a massive meiling interchange like they did down
up further at Manor Park for the Haywards.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
A couple of bits of information for a couple of
bits of information for us Sam KG Kennedy good he
was a former mirror of Lower had to free good Mere.
By all accounts, apparently they yeah, and apparently they considered
about erosion around the column of the bridges. So yeah,
the bridges will be fine, but get you get probably
logs begging that concrete and the reinforced concrete and they
could be compromised and the bridges could collapse.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Yes.

Speaker 11 (26:28):
Well, at silver Stream, I used to have a like
an off road or bush truck in that and I'd
go down into the river bank at silver Stream just
for a bit of a play around sometimes. And I
remember going just past one of the pillars, there's a
little bit of a puddle, but it was muddy. The
river was white down at this time. There was stones everywhere.
But the whole back end of the truck is slipped

(26:49):
straight down because of the digging out of the They
call it undermining.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Mining, is the right word.

Speaker 11 (26:59):
Yeah, yeah, but yeah. If I looking at that floodlight,
it's the rain is either on an angle or going
horizontal at times out there, and the trees are moving
and dancing along with the music in my head.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
And is it truly a brand of bike or a shop?

Speaker 11 (27:17):
And truly is a nickname like a Shanks's pony?

Speaker 2 (27:22):
What I'm going to make the cause i' would to
make the causes? Push bike a chovy? Have you ever
heard that expression before?

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Chovy?

Speaker 11 (27:29):
No?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
No, I never heard that. This is on the chovy. Anyway.
Let's say I've got to run, but nice to talk
to thank you. We're doing what we can. People. A
lot of information happening out. They've got a stolen car,
we've got a sou na and we've got flooding. We've
got closed bridges. Literally it doesn't pour it rain. Is
that the right expression? And the sheer markets are up
because Trump's going to make an announcement. Oh yeah, anyway,

(27:55):
get in touch if you want to eight hundred. Should
I go to the break or the email? What's more important? Okay,
let's have a break. The tsunami and the Japan. They're
looking at three meters high waves. That's the tsunami predictions there.
So I'm telling you that out of curiosity. I don't
think we've got many people listening to there. That's a
situation three meter high waves. It's a it's a seven

(28:17):
point five quat just off the coast. So that situation
also too. We've got a stolen car here in listener Land.
It's white. June has lost her Suzuki. Billino are in
why Romeo November Yankee are in hy thirty one. So
keeping up for that please if you're driving around Crow.

(28:38):
It was stolen from the warehouse car park Blenham Road.
Are they one that gets stolen often? No, stolen, I'll
check up the Billino most stolen cars. No, maybe she's
misplaced it. No, it's not one of the easy ones
to steal. But there we go. It has been stolen

(29:00):
and it's a situation. Geening Marcus. I was heading to
work there this morning, saw the water on the new
I drove through the area. The water was gone, damage done.
Driving along in this huge bang, I drove over a
man ahole hole with no cover. Got a puncture, but
I'm sure about the rim. With lots of debris. You
couldn't see the hole. Wow, Mike has just got in

(29:22):
the door in Auckland on the last flight from Wellington.
Went down there this morning. Weather at nine point thirty,
just like a bed on Wellington day. But then it
just ready set in with theonymous ominous feeling that we
had here before the Auckland floods. Very bad weather forecasts
to borrow. They need to be very careful of slips
in Wellington. People underestimate what the prolonged rain, heavy rain

(29:42):
can do. That's right. You're going to be very everywhere
aware of slips. Get in touch if you want to
talk on air. Looking mainly for updates with the weather.
A lot of the lists of schools are closing. One
way you're much to primary school Fernley School, Kininny Primary school.
All those are closed. Some of the others have got
for your Mount Cook School, Waterloo School, Mongarra, Mongaraki School school,

(30:07):
they're closed. I can tell you Saint Patrick's College, Wellington's closed.
Please be prepared for online learning from home. Yeah right,
why no you? Mutta High School closed tomorrow. That's the situation.
So a lot's happening. All the roads north of Tallanaki
are closed. That's one between Abaquino and Piopio. And also

(30:31):
the Forbidden Highway that's closed too, So no way north
out of Tallanaki that slips. Those roads take a while
to repair too. So if you got any weather updates
for us, set us. No, it's fourteen to nine. Just
looking at the flow on the Hut River, it's ten
times it's normal flow. I don't know if the flood river,
the Hut River is prone to flooding. You might be local.

(30:52):
You might know all more information about them. And it
goes through a rebuilt up here. He's got some information
about that. Let us know, Bob. It's Marcus. Greetings and
good evening, Hi, Bob.

Speaker 10 (31:00):
Oh's this evening. About five minutes ago we had nurse
quake in Blenham.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
No, yes, wow.

Speaker 10 (31:07):
I checked on Google and have said that they didn't.
They didn't have any information. They were going to update it.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Do you go to the ETU in Z site, Bob,
that's the one g O Nett.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (31:17):
And I just went straight to Google and I asked
have I been an earthquake in the Blendaim area And
they said yes.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
How do you do that?

Speaker 10 (31:23):
I just go to Google and talked to him ask
has there been an earthquake in the Blenham area in
the last five minutes? And said yes, will confirm updating.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Three point eight. It's a big e thirty five k's deep.
It's a deep one low rumbull a ten k southwest
of Venoms a very close Where were that be?

Speaker 11 (31:39):
One?

Speaker 10 (31:41):
Yeah, I think of things off the shel I gave
it a pretty good shake though, you know, I was
thought that something had driven under the house for a minute.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
I just thought that with ten k south would be
with a hills, maybe.

Speaker 13 (31:55):
He would be hitting towards down here.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
Okay, okay, appreciate that.

Speaker 12 (32:01):
No, thank you.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Gee. Could all be to do with the solar activity.
Get in touch if you want to talk. Eight eight
We've got a stolen car. The white twenty twenty. Suzuki
Billino are in Y thirty one, Romeo novemb Yankee n

(32:22):
y thirty one. Please keeping up there. That's in christ Church. Marcus.
Just spot an update on Upper Hut their Facebook page.
They're monitoring the bridge is an upper hut at the
stage and Blendham didn't feel a thing. Russell Marcus can't
wait until the documentary comes out of at the CINFA

(32:44):
FBI investigations exposing Trump and associates investments in relations to
the stock market movements and doner trading. He alters financial
markets every time he opened his mouth thoughts with one
in the weather events, one hell of a thunderstorm and
lightning happening here and cowdo as I typed this rain
light the big boys turn the tap on full thunder
so close on loud. I need air Muffslets from die,

(33:05):
take care die nine to nine seven away from nine.
Welcome if you just joined us. The situations. There's been
an earthquake, and in New Zealand just south of ben
of A three point eight there's be an earthquake, and
Japan is seven point five. There's three meter which is
ten foot waves tsunami waves. I think they are landing
at the stage too. I'll keep you updated on that.

(33:27):
No reports that I am seeing of damage, but there
have been evacuations and if you want anything to add
about this too, a lot of roads are closed. The
road between this is to do with the flooding, not
to do with the quake. The roads between Marston and
Carterton State Hiway to is closed. Also, both roads north
out of Tallanaki are closed through the road to Purepu

(33:47):
and the road through Tobata or the road through Pongamometer
that is also closed too. So yeah, I'm just looking
for the latest on the earthquake. Maybe she's seven point
five authorities of his residents to stay away from coast lariers.

(34:09):
The tremor had nepicenter in the Pacific Ocean was ten
k's deep. The biggest waves were expecting Awati Amori and
Hakkado Prefecture, so there's no talk of damage. It broadcast
NHK showed ships sailing out of Hatchinhope Port and Akkaido
and anticipation of the waves. So that's a situation too.

(34:31):
You'd want to get head for sea otherwise you get
banned against Jim Mooring of course, the bullet train services
have stopped due to the tremors, so I don't know
the situation. Of course, Japan is one of the world's
most earthquake prone countries. Marcus, I drive, I'd ever take
a hills every day. Today was some of the heaviest
rain I've ever seen, super slippery and lots of flooding

(34:53):
and slips. It even slowed angry forward ranger man down.
Thanks for that, and big quake and bleed him so well,
biggest three point eight, it'd be one of the biggest
we've had for this year. I guess, although pleap a
texting me that they haven't felt it, so thanks for that.
Now the other thing, the other news I've got for

(35:13):
you too. If you are listening in Southland, we are
now on FM. That has taken me ten years of
campaigning to get that done. So if you are listening
on the AM frequency, you can now go to one
oh five point two. So, of course I think I

(35:34):
forget how it goes. I think in national radio is
on one on one point four. You go north of
that to get five three one p I the FM
of that. Then I think there's brain and then I
think is z B. I forgot to listen on the
way in, but there we go one oh five point two.
It's high up on the dial, but it'll be much
clearer and it'll be a fuller, nicer sound, and it's

(36:01):
up heat.

Speaker 14 (36:01):
Shope.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
It's a good transmitter so it should go everywhere. So
there we go. That's a situation too. In Southland. One
oh five point two switched on at midnight tonight. I
think I might have and switched on this morning on
the breakfast show. So I don't know if zidb's ever
been on FM and south of it certainly in my

(36:24):
time it never has been. So there we go. The
text it some magic and they've got that working. So
I switched away. If you can FM one oh five
point two, I will continue to remind you of that
and that frequency. That's a situation, so get in touch
and I will go through all the updates about what's
happening with the floods. But if you are in Wellington

(36:46):
or the south of the north Side and got an
update for me, do let me know. There's been reports
of snow also on the Porter's Pass. It's not settling,
but it is snow. We've also got a car that's
been stolen from one of our listeners. So if you
can keep an eye for that, they would be really appreciated.
It's due Une's car are in y thirty one Romeo

(37:11):
November Yankee thirty one to twenty twenty white Suzuki Bellino
stolen from the Warehouse Car Park, Blenham Road between six
and seven tonight. Yeah, poor old Junior. In an email
that's got christ Jurch forever Greenning's welcome anything, whether orlated.
Let us know too. I'm looking at the latest updates

(37:33):
I've got for you the South wideed Appa District Council.
I've said the Ponatahi Bridge over Huangarua River is closed.
There's a red a red heavy rain morning and place
for wide and upper peaks up to forty mills. The
cal said river levels in the Romahanga and Manga Taredi
rivers were likely to increase significantly. There are advising people

(37:55):
to leave loaf flying or loaf flying or flood prone areas,
and eight hundred are without power in the Wellington region
and these two river two bridges have been closed, and
the Hut River, the Kennedy Good and the Meling Bridge Kennedy.
Good was a mere Caleb, Marcus welcome, good evening.

Speaker 15 (38:14):
Hello Marcus Slash. I've been a big fan of.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Yours for a cut to the chase, Caleb, what do
we got?

Speaker 15 (38:21):
Just it's raining really bad and Palmer's job and it's
really getting really bad. Just people at home and stay indoors.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Is it flooding? Have you got flooding where you are? Caleb?

Speaker 15 (38:34):
Yes, and yes I have got flooding where i'm but
a nice and warm where I am and staying out
the roads.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Good on your jackets, Marcus. Good evening and welcome Hijack.
Hey Marc good, Thanks Jack.

Speaker 16 (38:49):
I've been driving since about midday round Wellington, just doing
tach deliveries all around the region doing what deliveries.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Food copy that I understand. I'm familiar with that concept.

Speaker 13 (39:01):
Yes, yep.

Speaker 16 (39:02):
It's been crazy up until about six o'clock when the
weather's died and now it's just started back up dusting,
huge gass been blown across the motorway and really torrential
rain starting up and Johnsonville at the moment.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
So the rain before, it's hard for us not to
be there to understand. The rain before was to rench
or there's been a lull and it's as hard as
heavy again, Is that right?

Speaker 16 (39:25):
Event's correct? Around one o'clock I had to pull to
the side of the road because the wipers weren't keep nukets.
So we're a few other cars and now it's pretty
much safe.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Are these good times for you, Jack? Because people are eating?
And is that what people are doing? They think, gosh,
we can't go out, but poor Jack will come through.
Is that what's happening?

Speaker 16 (39:44):
That is it's the best night I've had for deliveries
at about two and a half years.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Wow, okay, because I'll be watching Married at First Sight
in the rain and ordering what are they ordering? Indian?

Speaker 3 (39:54):
A lot of.

Speaker 16 (39:55):
McDonald's are actually doing the first Indian delivery night right
now from Yellers Wow. And a lot of supermarket milk
rune deliveries.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
What are they getting? That's lazy, isn't it. I Mean
I shouldn't say that it's your job, but I always
feel that's that's laid down on MISSI. If you're getting
ober to just do your supermarket shopping for you. What
are they getting from the supermarket?

Speaker 16 (40:17):
I've spent all sorts. I think it's just like people
getting their daily shops or weekly shops done, and quite frankly,
I'm quite happy to be doing it and staying off
the roads.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Yeah, it's a good idea. It's a good idea. I
should I should. Look I'm very judgmental, Jack, and I'm
trying to work on it. I shouldn't be. People should
be able to what they wants their money.

Speaker 16 (40:36):
It's true. I feel you on that. But at the
end of the day, less drivers, least pressures and people
are safer at home.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
You've seen any flooding, any cars underwater, any bridges tipped over,
any slides, any landslides, any houses without their roofs.

Speaker 16 (40:50):
Seeing a roof blowing off in Jable about fifteen minutes ago,
and a lot of local lights flooding around crofton downs
but nothing major.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Wow, did you see the roof go? You just saw
it off?

Speaker 16 (41:01):
No, I saw it go. I was driving past. I
was like, oh, that roof looks a bit and then yeah, it.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
Just got taken off and it got taken clean off
the house. Did it did it fly far?

Speaker 16 (41:13):
I don't know when over the house, so don't go
towards the road. It looked like some of those big
sheets of iron like callis thee Irons just blew off
Soames landed in their backyard and it's seed enough for them.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Dangerous so cut through you?

Speaker 3 (41:26):
How many?

Speaker 2 (41:27):
So you've delivered the Indian? Now, then what's your next order?

Speaker 16 (41:31):
I don't know yet. It depends what Wellington is holding
at this point. I've done thwee six deliveries today and
I'm going to keep going till about one am.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Do people tip more when the weather's band?

Speaker 17 (41:43):
Yes to know.

Speaker 16 (41:44):
I've only had one tip today and it was a
lovely guy who tipped thirty dollars down in Opero Bay.

Speaker 3 (41:49):
Only one, only one, and.

Speaker 16 (41:52):
That surprised me considering the weather we're driving them. But
I guess they spend enough on uber.

Speaker 2 (41:57):
Any politicians have not tipped you.

Speaker 16 (42:01):
I haven't delivered to any politicians.

Speaker 13 (42:03):
That I know off.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Okay, good report from you, Sam right on the jack,
so what I call them? Sam right on the money?

Speaker 6 (42:09):
There?

Speaker 2 (42:09):
Thank you for that. Get in touch if you want,
if you've got some information. We've got an announcement from
Civil Defense money We're too far Annui. The night shift
has come into the group of Morgessey Cordon Center. They've
dropped a fresh bash of weather warnings too much to read.
I read the reds well, we have no red level warnings.
People should still take this with a seriously. It's worth

(42:31):
on in the red level heavy rain warning for what
Appa has the same amount of rainfallcast as the Taro
District's Orange level. There's a lot of warnings coming out.
Ah almost fee it's information overload. I know it's important.
I'm not a weather denier or a climate change and
I but it's it's a lot of information. Schools have
announced I'll be closed tomorrow. I'll read the list. Here

(42:51):
we go. Some of these names I've never seen before.
So let's have I get the pronunciation right. Hot City Kindergarten,
while Auto Montessori's School, Kimmi or a school, sin Bredadics School,
Saint Pious X School? What's the X for dam? They
must have been since past the tenth? Would it be
a saint or a pope? Anyway? He's gone. Rafael House

(44:23):
Some will be waiting until tomorrow. They're the ones will
be closed. That's the situation you've got there. Schools will
be waiting until tomorrow to announce whether I can't read
they've already read that. I think anyway, if you want
to talk on, if there's something else you want to mention. Also,
do not feel free. I feel the weathers big tonight
and I do want to keep talking about that. So
if you've got questions or some updates, let us know.

(44:47):
Been out working clearing some tops around Lower Hut since
three pm. Eastbourne, heavy waves with debris coming across the road.
Port Road now closed in Seaview flooding one outa raining
with surface flooding and black creek coming over the road
at Kininney Street. Riverside Drive closed due to stream up.

(45:09):
I've got a long not ahead and be slowly going
to different suburbs cleaning any flooding. Thanks for that. Yes,
they are evacuum from that flooding. KANINNI. My radio is
struggling in Auckland. Could that be to do with the weather,
lots of static. It's probably to do with a solar activity.
And also we're off on the AM. Every uber eat
order is just one more person saying there's no cost

(45:31):
of in crisis, and one more person saying don't give up,
don't give us economic relief on fuel. Saint Pious tenth
was pope from nineteen oh three to nineteen fourteen. Then
he was made a saint. Wow, that's Saint Pius the tenth.
But get in touch if you want to be on
the wireless. Start my name as Marcus had or twelve o'clock.
We are still looking out for that car. Are in

(45:52):
Why thirty one? If you are in christ Church, your
number one objective tonight, if you are driving around is
to find her car. Are in Why thirty one? Anything
else you want to talk about, it'd be nice to
hear from you. There's also a rescue operation underway in

(46:14):
the far North to reach three people who remain stuck
on a track after becoming lost a land rescue off
Wainui Road and Kyo. I don't know what that would be,
what track that would be, if anyone's got any more
information about that? So gosh, I've don't know a night
when so much is happening. I'm just trying to bring

(46:37):
that up on Google. So I don't know where that
would be a track to. It might be the Mahiniapua
Peninsular walking track if you onone's got an more information
about that. But there is a rescue operation going. I
don't know if it's wet in the far North either.
If anyone's got any information about that, let me know.
Thanks Terry. Now here's something I need to know about, Marcus,

(47:00):
there is anyone let you know that there's snow on
the road and cartoona and the coramand he posted the
video to the local fighty City Facebook page in Fittyanger.
I thought it got colder. Didn't think it was that cold. Apparently, yes,
could someone fact check that for me? Snow and the corimandel.

(47:21):
Surely they couldn't be. I don't even know what to
do about that, Fitty City. I'll go to the Facebook
Fitty City. Oh yes, and no, I can't say anything there.
Fitty City, Fittigger Market. I've got to join that, I think.
Could someone tell me if it's start I don't believe
it would be, But who am I to doubt the

(47:42):
changing weather patterns? If Alway's got the information, Dan, what
do you reckon? Could you do about that?

Speaker 13 (47:50):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (47:51):
Where we got cook? Give me an update on Chorus, Dan,
Three fiber cables have been damaged in Carpety that's what
that's why the fiber is out. Romati Beach, Romati South
and of part of Paramu no restoration timing. Why would
that cable be damaged?

Speaker 3 (48:11):
Dan?

Speaker 2 (48:12):
Would that be floodwork or what would that be trying
to clean up someone's made a mistake. So that's the situation.
They've they've severed the cable. Wow, So that's internet, Dana.
So if you got no internet, that's the reason. And
what are they saying? They're on to it, but don't
know when they'll be fixed. If yeah, you would want

(48:32):
to bush fix. That'll take a while, won't it. They're
starting to splice the cable, so internet will be slowly updated.
Marcus just tuned in rh Y thirty one. What color
and type of car? Jane? Good on you, Jane. We
want all the all our audience in christ Church. It's

(48:55):
a biggie to get onto this one. It's white. It's
a Suzuki Billino. I'll bring up an image because I've
got no idea what a Suzuki Billino looks like. I'll
describe it to you. I knew heard of it. I
think our friend. It looks like a Toyota. It looks
like every bog standard character four door. It looks just

(49:15):
like you could imagine it a compact five door hatchbag,
spacious three three five liter boot. That's while I've stolen that,
I'll put the ATM machine in there. A practical city car.
I'll google. It is easy to steal, it's not typically
classified as easy to steal compared to the demo or aqua,

(49:35):
so it's not an easy to still it and why
they would have taken that one. So there you go,
twenty one past nine. Get in touch if you want
to talk about any weather updates, if you've got any,
or a tsunami update. I wouldn't be surprised on who's
going to last longer, Starma or Luxan. They're both under trouble.
A lot of coverage on the BBC of Luxan or
the Mendelssohn raw just the latest two. I can tell you.

(49:59):
This is a good chance for me to say that
MET service has expanded severe whether watches across New Zealand
more heavy rain, thunder and strong south east winds through Tuesday.
Heavy rain watches are in place for Tai Harpifhwanga Nui
and Munowa Tu until midnight Tuesday, with forecasters warning rainfall
could approach warning levels, especially in the Rangers Hawks based
out of t Teta is also on the watch through

(50:22):
the early Wednesday, with thunderstorms and localized downpalls possible for
dawn Wader, Fenua Carpety and put it to A under
a separate heavy rain watch until nine pm tomorrow. There
is a moderate chance these areas could be upgraded to
full warning read. Heavy rain warnings remain enforced for Wellington
excluding Port and White a APPA and strong wind watches

(50:43):
have been issued for Taranhaky, Carpety, Wellington and Marlborough Sounds,
Ball of Gray and Westland. Forecasters said the bad weather
has been driven by a slow moving low and associated
fronts expected to linger like in the Cranberry song. It's amazing,
isn't it? Because that last weather system, I mean they
went on for about a week cut. I mean I
feel for met Service because the last one they talked
and talked and talked about it cut and it didn't

(51:04):
really arrive. And that's difficult for them, isn't it? Because
that was hyped in and this one has sort of
come under the radar. But you know, that's the thing.
You've actually got to hard to predict because pressure systems
move and change. So hats off to the met Service.
They do their best. I'm sure we're a difficult country
to predict weather for Marcus. I'm coming Fong and Matar

(51:25):
and not even cold to be honest, definitely no snow here, Marcus.
Clear as in the far North. Been a day of
action early morning, tornado truck rolled in the mungamookers aos,
call out at Awanui, including locking down the primary school
and now they rescue and Cayo. That's a great report.
Come and if you want to get in touch, my

(51:45):
name is Marcus. Welcome. If you're driving around willing to
not that you should be. If you're an uberist, let
us snow and then we just check up on the tsunami.
Before I cut to a brake and there was a
quake in blend Them earlier today, like an hour ago.
It was a three point eight just down Sidin way.

(52:06):
Not things off shells, but certainly gave n a bob
a bit of a jolt. I'm just trying to say
there's latest news about this in that I'm not seeing
any pictures of any waves. No tsunami threat to Australia.
Tsunami waves have been observed in several areas fifteen years
since the same area was devastated by a magnitude nine.

(52:29):
That was Fukushima, same area, twenty thousand killed. Who can
forget Mike McRoberts in his white suit out there, remember that.
One don't know if they'd send people anymore, would they?
With the news feels like it's not this fifteen years ago.
It's a lot's changed. He'd send people over to everything.
Any who get in touch if you want to. Twenty
four past nine, looking forward to your calls. Now we

(52:53):
are covering the weather event in Wellington. If you've got
any updates on that, that's the plan tonight. But it's
not just Wellington. It's up the coast too. There'st outa
gen carpety and there's a lot of damage to the roads.
Although I didn't say there's rain in your Plymouth, but
if those roads are revulnerable. This is the road from
Albaquino to Pure Pure. This is where they're putting in
the tunnel over Mount Messenger. But I still don't think

(53:15):
it's going to stop this road. It's closing so often
these days. And also the road through from Stratford to
tom Renui. Of course it's railway. People know that as
a Stratford, a Cohacuta line, but they've closed that, well,
they haven't closed. It's now just people on golf buggies,
which I think is probably a sad end to what
was a great railway line once upon a time. And

(53:36):
I think it was always the situation if something happened
to the main trunk line, they sent trains down there.
But anyway, that road is now longer operational. That's closed
because of debris and slips that should make it That
could take certainly take a while to fix that one,
but that's the latest I've got for you. There's also
been an earthquake in Japan, a seven point five. There
are ten foot tsunami surges waves being protected on the

(53:59):
back of that. Of course, it's not the wave, it's
the amount of water behind it, don't they That's what
they say. So there is I haven't been able to
get on the Fitty City Facebook page, but there's a
video posted of the snow on the Katuna Road, but
most people have the consensus is its tail. Oh by
the way, the civil defense alert just went just got

(54:21):
sent to the whited Upper I've got that now. So
we've got a sil defense alert, emergency alerts received and
widered upper just now. This is the text Civil Defense
Service Weather and Flood Warning wide app per form minutes ago.
Heavy rain is causing rivers and streams to rise rapidly.
If you live in low lying areas, coastal sediments, or

(54:42):
areas plumbed to flooding, take extra precaution and be prepared
to evacuate quickly. If you see signs of potential flooding,
consider evacuating now. If you see rising flood water, evacuate
immediately to higher ground. Do not wait for official warning. No,
they have just got one. If you need to evacuate,
seek shelter with friends and family. If you can take

(55:03):
pets and essential items, call Triple one. If your life
will probably is at risk. Emergency services could be delayed.
Refer to the following websites for updates and information about
emergency assistant centers. MSTN dot gov, dot z CDC dot gov,
dot IN, ZED, SWDC, dot gov, dot NZ Classic New

(55:23):
Zealand First TA what they're going to do if they
get in government? They are in government, jeeps, creepers hope
springs Eternal doesn't it. The things they could do, but
choose not to be in touch if you want to talk.
As I say, all about the weather tonight, eight hundred
and eighty ten eighty. You are our eyes and ears
out there tonight, even well especially you uberisch Uber deliversy.

(55:44):
I doess know what's happening with the weather. There's roofs
out there's all sorts of things. The bridges across the
Hut River have been closed. The latest information I've got
for you, I think we're all up to date. The
Ponatahi Bridge over the Huangaru has closed. That has closed
eight hundred without power within the Wellington region. That's some

(56:05):
of the news I've got for you. Some of the
other news I've got for you is now, I think
we're pretty much up to date. Actually, the Meling River
and the Kennedy Good Bridge and Lower Hut have been
closed due to rising the Hut rever levels. It's ten
times what it was. And in Tatadooa they said that
this weather event should not be taken lightly. And just

(56:27):
scanning all the websites to make sure I've got everything
for you. Yeah, I think we're up to date with that.
Met Services expanded severe weather watches across central New Zealand.
Warning of more heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong southeast winds
through Tuesday. There are road closures. The road closures are
State Highway too between Masterton and Carterton that has closed.

(56:47):
Also the two roads north of Tadanhaca north of dew Plymouth,
the one to pure Pure State Highway. Don't know what
number as I'll find that out for you. And also
the Stratford A Caca Cuda line are both closed. And
that's everything I've got for you at the stage. So yes,
if you've got any more information for us, let me

(57:09):
know eight hundred and eighty ten eighty and nine to
call to text, call or text. And we've also got
a stolen car tonight, which I've never had before. That's
what it means a great deal for me to find
that are in why Romeo and novemb Yankee thirty one

(57:31):
are NY thirty one twenty twenty Suzuki Billina. They will
have heard it on end they would have probably hid
an ankle of trees. I would think that would be
my prediction prediction, So we've got some information about that too.
I don't know what's happening with the Stradiho moves. I've
got I've got whipplesh worrying about the Stradilho moves. I
don't know if it's open or closed, but I think
Trump's gonna have an announcement today. All the live updates,

(57:53):
it looks like it's gone bad.

Speaker 6 (57:54):
There.

Speaker 2 (57:55):
The headline is Trump's rage yet Pentagon revealed as Iran
war turns hot again after US fires on tanker and
Iran a tax American ships with drones. A furious Donald
Trump's A furious Donald Trump screamed at AIDS for hours
following the downing of an American jet on Good Friday,
the first US plane brought down by enemy fire during

(58:16):
the war. The US President was also kept out of
the room while his team was given a minute by
minute updates. According to a new report in the Wall
Street Journal, after the Air fifteen Et Strike Eagle two
crew members was shot down on April three, Trump tuned
against pyder gun officials, demanding the pilots be retrieved immediately.
So I don't quite know what that means in the
scheme of things, but that's the latest I've got for

(58:37):
you there. It was supposed to be some announcement from
him and the Guardian with a more measured approach. So
Donald Trump said on Sunday that the US Marines had
taken custody of a vessel that tried to get past
the American blockade on Iranian ports. And it says Iran
has no plans for a second round of talk for

(58:58):
the US. So how would you know when that's going
to end. I don't know how much fuel we've got.
I've got whooplesh worrying about the fuel I've got, plus
roaring at the Strait of Hormus. In fact, I southed
my soul over the weekend by trying to make well.
I didn't try to make. I made Turkish delight, which
no one likes to eat, but the challenge was too much.

(59:19):
I first tried the Edmunds cookbook one, which was okay
but involved gelatine. I then did further reading to find
out that the railway to make Turkish delight, it's got
a Turkish No, they don't call it Turkish delight in Turkey.
Obviously funny stuff, isn't it rosewater low come? It's called
l okum. But I made it. But man, what a mission?

(59:44):
You heat sugar, a lot of sugar with water at
a tartaric acid, and then you add to that corn
flour and water, which goes into a paste, and you
pour the corn flower paste into the boiling sugar and water,
and then you stir that clockwise for an hour. Yere

(01:00:04):
and boy oh boy, that was hard work. Was it
successful year? It was kind of I added pistachio nuts
and almonds, But basically I think the kids were keen
on it. But once they tried the taste of the
rose water, because it's kind of kind of flowery taste
literally rose water, it's a yeah, I don't think it
was within their I mean they're super tastes. I don't

(01:00:25):
think they loved it. So there we go. That's a
situation with Turkish to light. Will I make it again? Probably,
although they were commenting that I've become obsessed with it,
But yeah, that was quite worth doing. Actually, if you've tried,
I'd quite like to get into making kind of I
enjoyed those videos of people sort of rolling out confectionery.
Don't really fancy eating it, but the process is quite

(01:00:46):
good fun. Anyhow, enough for me twenty three away from ten,
looking forward to your calls here till midnight. I can
tell you too that the uncertainty is back of the market.
Oil prices rose sharply and European stock markets fell. After
the US seizure of an Iranian vessel hit the hopes
for a peace steal reent crude rose by five percent,

(01:01:06):
European stocks dropped, the UK's foot Sea down half percent,
the French cap forty in the gym and decks both
for by a percent. So yes, it comes up. Donald
Trump announced on sunny then Iranian cargo ship that tried
to get past you is the fourth blockade had been seized.
We have full custody of the ship and are seeing
what's on board. Exclamation mark the instant raiser. Possibly the

(01:01:28):
ceasefire could fail before negotiators reconvene in Pakistan. It's going
to be long now. If you want to talk on
here tonight, that's the plan. Get in touch. I know
some of you're watching the final of Win's It in
the final of merrit At first sight the Can'tian quick enough?

Speaker 13 (01:01:43):
Can it?

Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
Management will be watching it. Marcus weather Rapp shows that
the Wellington temperature feels like minus three centigrade standing outside
right now. I can confirm that's definitely the case. Marcus
should try making some nut nouga. I'll do that tomorrow. Yes,
that's why we'll give that a go. Like the sound
of the challenge of that. Are we looking for updates

(01:02:06):
from Willington in the Hut and the Whited Upper and
also tour for your talking in that central part of
the North Island where those roads have been washed out.
I'm talking about the road to Pure up here on
the road through Fongamometer. If you've got some updates on that,
let me know what that situation is. I'll keep your
updated with it. Oh, by the way, there's something else
you want to talk about. We had a real good

(01:02:27):
night on Friday talking about luxen and leadership. Now that's
moved slightly in some ways because there's been another poll
out which probably shows that things perhaps are worse than
they were when the discussion happened on Friday. So if
that's something you feel that you are duty bound to

(01:02:48):
talk about, you are more than welcome. And I'm just
going to read you about the Statehoway forty three, fong A,
Momenta and tome A, floods and slipping slips and flooding.
It's closed. It's closed until further notice and there's a
situation there. So also to the road more Co and

(01:03:09):
Pure Pure is closed flooding and rock falls. So that's
the two roads north of Tallahaki are closed. The only
way to get to Orkland would be down through Huanganui
and back up. So I don't know if the truck
drivers out there, if you'd bother going through or not.
But it's eighteen to ten. There we go. And to

(01:03:29):
tell you too, there has been a alert just gone
out in the wide Lapora telling people to go for
higher ground, self evacuate. That's what people will need to
be doing. So it's not only rain today, it's going
to rain all tomorrows as well by the looks of things.
And just to clarify, there is a road closure State
haway to Marston is Tatatahi Road to Cornwall Road. That's

(01:03:53):
from one hour on the southwest side of Marston all
the way to Carterton that is closed seventeen away from ten.
If you want to talk, keep those texts coming. You're
in great drive. Dob jobs with your update. Thank you
live update from lower Heart. Looking out the window, I
can see lots of weather tomorrow too. That's Jay. Thanks Jay,

(01:04:17):
very windy here, Gray Valley, West Coast. It's going to
the west coast, going to get pummeled later on tomorrow.
I think I'm just looking at the BBC two footage
of the tsunami. Big storm stog is coming on shore.
That's a seven point five earthquake and the ten foot
tsunami that's happening. The first Army waves are just reaching
Japan's ground coast as we talk. Storm stooges are happening.

(01:04:40):
It's not like it was fifteen years ago with all
those ships been thrown around, but the ships have headed
out to sea. It's nighttime, so the footage isn't fantastic.
Pete Marcus, Welcome Marcus.

Speaker 18 (01:04:52):
Here the water in Iran. I think it's you got
to admit the give up the erranium what they have
over there. And I think Trump has given an open
up the straight but it seems to be that you
don't take on the US. Basically Old Donald's hid to them, well,
just give out the uranium that they can't make. Basically,

(01:05:13):
you adondsible, which we don't want men to make.

Speaker 5 (01:05:16):
The guess something.

Speaker 11 (01:05:17):
He's getting a.

Speaker 18 (01:05:17):
Pretty good altim mate and they just seem to be
digging the dig a hole for them a bigger hole
for themselves, aren't they They don't.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Need nuclear war heads because they've got the ability to
close the straight offor moves, which is equally as destructive,
and they can do that at will.

Speaker 18 (01:05:30):
Yeah, they can, but as pick near cunning as well.
So they're actually they're actually the losers.

Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Oh yes, but there's probably ways that they can get
stuff out of there.

Speaker 18 (01:05:41):
I would think, yeah, but you just it's an international
warder where they can't do that. Anyway they start doing it, well,
they're I.

Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Mean, you could talk about can't, but there's no I mean,
you know, they have been bombed by the United States
and Israel. They could probably do what they want as
far as in retaliation. I mean, you know when you
said they can't do what they want the international law
of the sea, I'm sure they're not obliging obeying that.

Speaker 18 (01:06:06):
US is already blunt all these all the navy ships
pretty much. They haven't got no more navy there, so
it's going to take a long time to build that
up again. You think they're just pull their heads and
give them the Iranian what the US wants, so they
can't make nuclear bombs and get on off it. I
think what they're going to do is trump. Ye, they're
already shooting at the US one of their ships too,

(01:06:28):
aren't they whatever, So they they're actually I think they
are actually they're actually fighting the wrong battle there.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
I think did you see did you see the shots
of the food the soldiers are eating?

Speaker 16 (01:06:38):
No, I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Someone is supposed to. Some of the footage of the
food that the United States soldiers have had on their
operation over there just terrible. Yeah, So it seems as
though that's a real morale sepper. There's just sort of
slices of fake beef and stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
Have a look.

Speaker 18 (01:06:54):
Okay, Yeah, but I think the Ranings are really they're
starting to dig a hole for themselves. You can't take
on the US because the end of the day, they
will just bomb all the things we picked myself, all
their power station, their bridges. Sure they don't want that,
would they.

Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
Well, they will just bomb the infrastructure of the allies
of the United States, Saudi Arabic guitar ue those places,
and that'll just shick of the economy for the next
twenty years. I mean, I think that, I think it's
quite clear what I mean every time they've war game,
this is exactly what's happened. They closed us straight and
damage infrastructure. It's exactly what they're doing. It's kind of

(01:07:26):
gone exactly as the war game is a maynor were
the people that played this out and mentioned it was
going to go How long has it been now? Eight
week to people are sick of it, aren't they?

Speaker 18 (01:07:36):
Well, they're all getting sick us getting to the end.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
I never did. You might have and some of the
old some of the old broad because some of the
people trying to spin it and said there was going
to be over in five or six days. This has
going for years. This is going for years.

Speaker 18 (01:07:51):
Pete, Yeah, I know a lot of people. There's a
lot to speak to some people. There's a lot of
people actually supporting Donald Trump on by them that they
can't develop on youlear, bombies got more support than that.

Speaker 10 (01:08:01):
You realize.

Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Well, none of the allies wanted to come and help them.

Speaker 18 (01:08:06):
The wall, But there's a lot of people behind the
scenes that are support Where.

Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
You getting information from Pepe?

Speaker 18 (01:08:13):
Oh, just from people that I talk to.

Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
They say, where you're finding where you're finding these people?

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Oh?

Speaker 18 (01:08:18):
Just friends and stuff to talk about. Friends and that
they talk about they're supporting them here in New Zealand.

Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
Okay, most most of your mates are supporting them, a
lot of them.

Speaker 18 (01:08:26):
Yes, I'm I don't want make you supporting them to degree.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Good on your pepe. Turn away from ten eighty ten eighty,
seving away from ten, looking forward to you and put
to one if you do want a talk. Car and
a lot is happening tonight. Actually it's almost done, but
more input importantly for our audience as there's been a
stolen car and crustyge Blenham Road car park. It's a Suzuki.

(01:08:52):
It's white. It's a Suzuki Billino. The type of whale
a billino in Y thirty one. If you've seen that,
let us know be in touched asap. Very keen for
that to get back to its owner. There's something else
that you want to talk about. Oh, and there's been
an earthquake in Japan seven point five not far off
the coast. There's ten foot waves have been forecast. They

(01:09:13):
are landing on the shore. Now get in touch if
you want to talk about that also, and I'll recap
the situation. What's happening in Wellington. The two bridges. Two
of the bridges over the Hut River have closed. The
two roads north of Taranaki are closed. The road between

(01:09:33):
Masterton and Carterton southwest of the river is closed. There's
heavy rain warnings and that's the information I've got for
you if you want to. If you've got any other
information for us, let us know. There's evacuations of houses
in Juan Uyamata and appears as though there is no

(01:09:55):
school for most schools tomorrow, so yeah, check on those
if you can check your school website a web page.
Hello Colleen, this is Marcus. Good evening.

Speaker 19 (01:10:06):
It's good evening. I just wanted to give you a
ring because I got a letter today. That quote startled me. Actually,
I'm into the letterbups and I opened it and at
the age of eighty four, I got this letter summons
to go on the jury. Okay, I couldn't really believe
they would have someone eighty four to go on the
jury on May. No, there's a cat off.

Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
I'm going I'm just googling that now. Following the advice
following the pass of the jury's age of excuse, amenable
the agent which can choose to be excused from jury
service has been raised to seventy two years it was
sixty five. People age seventy two or older can still
serve if they choose to, but they have the right

(01:10:53):
to decline. Yeah, so you don't want to, you don't
want to do it, just say no.

Speaker 19 (01:10:59):
No, it's just when you read down plays. If you're
not there on the date, you get a fine, you know,
or rested or something that sort of puts the willies
up your eyes.

Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
I can understand that. Do you want to know how
to excuse? Do you want to know how to?

Speaker 12 (01:11:16):
Do you know how to Well?

Speaker 19 (01:11:18):
I just think it going to send it back and
you know, the same age and that sort of thing. Though,
I'd like to be taken off the list.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Yeah, I think I think that seems very fair.

Speaker 19 (01:11:29):
Yes, that's what I think.

Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
Can I be excused on the day, day and the time?

Speaker 19 (01:11:38):
It's got the date and the time and all that.
You just put that there.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Yeah, you can ask to be excused for a single
instance or permanently.

Speaker 18 (01:11:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:11:48):
I think.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
It doesn't say how to do that, colleen, which is stupid.

Speaker 14 (01:11:53):
Ay, yes, and it doesn't.

Speaker 19 (01:11:55):
You can't really wring your hands, got numbers and the.

Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
Last thing you want to do is on some stupid Dan,
Can you go? I'll see if I can find out
from someone, if we can work out how you can
be excused. Yeah, there, refine, you'll need to include support.
If your age over seventy two, you can request. You'll
need to include supporting documentation with a response form.

Speaker 19 (01:12:20):
Just like I'm on the Super Half Super Australia because
we're there for fifteen years. Incause I'm over eighty, I
have to go every two years at the police station
to show them that I'm still alive to get their pinsion. No, no,
it doesn't get easy.

Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
Have you got the internet, Colleen?

Speaker 14 (01:12:39):
No?

Speaker 20 (01:12:40):
Only on my phone?

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Yeah, yeah, there's an online form or a paper form
to fill out. Where would you get that paper form from?

Speaker 10 (01:12:48):
Then?

Speaker 19 (01:12:49):
I've got the paper phone here information if you go to.

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
The Ministry of Justice website on your phone and you
could download something from there or an online form you
could fill in.

Speaker 19 (01:12:59):
Yes, now, I just thought i'd ring the SAD, but
you know there's many other people give them. It's my age,
you know, you sort of get stressed out.

Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Oh absolutely, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't get called for
jury service because I think we're where we live is
beyond the we're too far from court. Seven past ten
hit or midnight to night, Lorraine, ats Marcus, good evening,
Hi Marcus.

Speaker 21 (01:13:25):
It's good to hear you. Thank just for a message
for Colleen. Just before my eightieth birthday, I also received
notification of jury service, and within the letter was a
space that told you how to get an exemption, either

(01:13:47):
temporary or permanent, And there was a little space to
fill in, and you filled in that just requesting what
you wanted and sent that back to them, and within
a fortnight I had a letter of permanent exemption. So
that might be helpful for her. If she scanned through
that letter, she'll find that.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
The actual physical letter you've got, there's a thing you
can fill in there to send back. Yeah, okay, how
long ago was that, Lorraine?

Speaker 21 (01:14:18):
That would have been four months ago.

Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
Okay, So I presume that's the letter she got there
that I doubt that will have changed in the last
four months. Yeah, okay, that's good.

Speaker 21 (01:14:27):
If she hasn't got that space, there definitely will be
a phone number or a contact address.

Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
Yeah, it wasn't that a parent on the I thought
it'd be more apparent on the internet. But that's fine. Okay,
so there'll be something on that that she fills in
and sends that back and she'll be off. Yes, yeah, okay, yeah, okay,
appreciate that, Lorraine, thank you, Yes, Jill. AT's Marcus. Good evening. Hi, Jill,
you're on the high, Jill.

Speaker 6 (01:14:54):
Appreciate yes, Marcus.

Speaker 13 (01:14:58):
I'm just repeating, Jill.

Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
You've just got your radio on there, Jill, which is
causing you because a lay.

Speaker 13 (01:15:08):
Just okay, sorry, no worries, No worries.

Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
You don't know until you've tried.

Speaker 6 (01:15:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 22 (01:15:20):
I received one late last year and I simbody wrote
back on it with my age and telling them a
few details and send it back to them, no problem.
And I did also have a reply within a fortnight.

Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
And is there an envelope that comes with your form
that you get sent Yes, okay, I'm straight forward. Okay,
I appreciate that. You'll thank you. Gosh, there we go,
just like that, just like that, ten past ten, Marcus
till twelve. Get in touch if you want to and
join tonight. But boy, boy, is it wet down the country,
up the country, down the country, very very wet. Get
in touch. We're talking jury service, We're talking everything tonight.

(01:15:59):
Mark you just give your age and that excuse you
for life.

Speaker 18 (01:16:01):
No big deal.

Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
There is a page you fill in to say your age,
sent that back and then close envelope. Get in touch
if you want to talk. Jeff, it's Marcus. Good evening, Hi, Jeff.

Speaker 12 (01:16:15):
Yeah, I've got any mate. Yeah, pouring with rain.

Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Here cheap as pepper mola there it.

Speaker 23 (01:16:23):
Is pouring with rain.

Speaker 12 (01:16:24):
And anyway, just about that jury service, Yeah, I've got
a letter say that I had to be on the
jury service. So I when I rang them, because I
said to them, it says in the letter that look
at seventy two and over you can be fully exempt.
So I spoke with a lady and she said, don't

(01:16:47):
worry about anything anymore. You're totally exempt. I said. She said,
what's your reason? And I said, well, when you get
when you get to my age, sometimes you know, like
inside a court room, you know you can't afford to sorrow,
not clearly here the whole situation. And I said, whether

(01:17:12):
the guy is guilty or not guilty. So I said
to her, I think you're better off without me.

Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
This seems seems very fair and reasonable.

Speaker 12 (01:17:22):
Yeah, I said, you know, you sort of lose a
little bit of comprehension when you get to about seventy four.
And she said to me, you's seventy four, and I said, yeah,
I am. And so I said, you know it's better.
I said, I shouldn't be. I shouldn't be telling you this.

(01:17:43):
But I said to her, I think i'd chuck the
guy in jail and then give him the and then
give them the verdict.

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Yeah, I don't want you want to say that, to
say you think everybody that comes before the courts is guilty?

Speaker 12 (01:17:58):
Yeah, well, yeah, I just said to her, Look, I
think it's better for a younger guy or a younger
lady to be on Jerry's of us, because I sort
of pick up things a lot better than elderly people.
So she said, don't worry about the death of knock
you right off the jury service and you don't have

(01:18:21):
to worry about it.

Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
I bet you Winston would do it. He's eighty one.

Speaker 13 (01:18:26):
What's that?

Speaker 12 (01:18:26):
Sorry?

Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
I bet you Winston would do it. He's eighty one.

Speaker 12 (01:18:32):
I should have said that, but nah, but you know,
I put it this way. The payments that you get
for being there one day or or or one week
or something is pretty terrible. And if you've got to come,
if you've got to come a long way and want

(01:18:54):
a plice of petrol. Now, I don't think it's a
very fair thing, and it would put a lot of
people off. So anyway, it doesn't matter. Just for the
elderly people that might be listening on the radio to night.
If you're seventy two or over, you can ring them
and get off it and don't worry about it.

Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
Thanks so much, Jennifer. It's Marcus. Welcome.

Speaker 24 (01:19:18):
Good evening. I've just sitted on the radio and talking
at the Jewish Service. I got caught up last year.
I'm eighty now and I decided to put myself forward
and I've said it was a good challenge and it was.
It's very educational for me. It was because I thought, well,
I've never done it in my life. Never too late
to learn to do something new.

Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
You enjoyed it, I did.

Speaker 24 (01:19:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 25 (01:19:43):
Now.

Speaker 24 (01:19:43):
I met some fantastic people as well who were on
the Jurish Service with me, and they couldn't believe it
when I said my age. I said, oh, well, I'm
coming up eighty.

Speaker 22 (01:19:54):
You know.

Speaker 24 (01:19:54):
I thought I would be a good challenge and the
case I was on I had a lot of personal experience.
I thought, well, I've got life knowledge and I could
pass it on and help others.

Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
I've never been. I've never I've never been. I've never
been called up.

Speaker 24 (01:20:13):
Well, I was caught up just for the quake, and
then it was all put off. They didn't want me.
And then and then when this notice came, I thought, oh,
I think I challenged them. They challenged me. I challenged them,
So what does that mean? Well, if your mind is
still active, why not do it? Your mine? And yeah,

(01:20:38):
I'm not on Waukie yet, so I thought, well, I'm
still walking around.

Speaker 22 (01:20:42):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
I think they had to make the age. Yeah, I
think cause I don't think many people turn up. So
they thought, I think they they've got more. They raised
the raised the age for the elderly because they're more
likely to turn up because they've got this spare time.

Speaker 24 (01:20:56):
I guess, well, I expected to be challenge and that's
what I was waiting to be done. I thought, of
I give them a challenge, and I expected them to
challenge me. You know when you go up and to
court and they pull out and then they challenge you.
They don't want your type of thing, and I expected
them to do that to me. I thought, with my age,

(01:21:17):
I'm too old.

Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
But no, they let me go on nice hearing Jennifer
him Peter, it's Marcus. Welcome.

Speaker 23 (01:21:26):
There you go, Marcus. How are you all good?

Speaker 6 (01:21:28):
Good?

Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
Thanks Petter.

Speaker 11 (01:21:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 23 (01:21:30):
I was called up for jury judy about twenty years ago.
I just put it in the bit. Never heard it back.
Apparently they used to get yeah, that's good, but I
ain't all better. I don't know if that's the case,
but I never heard back. Couldn't be bothered. Look, I'm
still working, but I think I called up again. I'll

(01:21:52):
beten to do the same thing, but since I'm not
far from retire, I might get someone the right melt
on my behalf, I can't do it. He suspected early
dementia or something. The last thing I want to do
is jury judy.

Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
Yeah, I know some people are some people terrified of
doing it.

Speaker 23 (01:22:09):
I just can't be asked what you Here's just uh,
it will just be all irrelevant stuff.

Speaker 24 (01:22:15):
But I.

Speaker 23 (01:22:18):
Work on facts and not you know, not dribble. His
old man gave a speck around the head once when
he was five. I don't give hi, I don't take
that stuff into account. You know, I just look at
the facts he was there or whatever, if he's there
or you know, fingerprints, that's the stuff I look at,
not social history. So yeah, just be too boring. I

(01:22:38):
was a witness once for a drug case.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
But that was all right.

Speaker 23 (01:22:45):
But that was only you know, hit your head of
five minutes in front of the lawyers and the and
the jury. But I couldn't sit down there for a
day or two. Drive me nuts.

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
I think you get fine, though, don't you?

Speaker 23 (01:23:00):
Well? Like I said, I didn't. I just got the
letter jury du you over blah blah blah. It was
about to over twenty years ago. I never heard back.
But I'll definitely rise on something else. So you know,
I'm I get my wife that we're giving a test
for something in a brain disorder. You know, then they'll say, oh,

(01:23:23):
you better not come in because God knows what will
happen to you.

Speaker 13 (01:23:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 23 (01:23:27):
I just want to go on Jerry Judy. I might
do it if I were retired. I was on board,
but not while I'm working on you.

Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
Peter, Thank you. Seventeen past ten, I'm not seeing many
more updates on the flooding. The latest update and that's
not because the flooding stopped. It's just because the junos
seem to mainly have gone home. So the latest I
can tell you is that fens which I shouldn't call
them fens Frida and says it responsibility. Seven weather rated
callouts across Wellington, Parma's northern Harward are this evening. They

(01:24:00):
include a landslip in Mornington, Wellington just after five are
roof lifting and sea tune. About the same time, our
uberists saw that. Crews were called to a loose scarage
door in Malpuya and earlier to a probably in Masted
where strong winds blew out a window in the wided
upper Firefighters assisted residents deading with flooding, and Masterton and

(01:24:22):
Palmest North Cruise responded to flooding of a house one
and a half. What are their occupants? They helped occupants
secure a trampoline that had been dislodged by strong winds,
ankey a trampoline Goodness and Carterdan's Mirror is warning people
in the area to be vigilant and tape precautions because
of high river flows. Steve Kretney says that among a

(01:24:44):
tar Ready stream has been rising to alarming levels across
the evening, close to where it was when it flooded
in twenty twenty four. This river has history. It's easily
in the last hours. Expect to peak around one, so
be careful, keep your pets safe and move vehicles, stop
another equipment to higher ground. Several rows closed in the
areas on alert rocks right across the road in living

(01:25:08):
Stone Street, Brooklyn. That's everything for you people, if you've
got more outcomes or more news. I'm not seeing any
damage from the tsunami in Japan. I'm across that it
has hit the waves of ten meters. Well, I say wave.
That's the wrong thing to say, because people think it's
a wave, but it's a wall of water. You got
to be careful you label these things because people mist

(01:25:30):
judge looking for photos they're expecting after shocks. No immediate
reports of damage or injuries as darkness fell. The Bullet train,
though has been affected, of course, it has. Twenty two
past ten. If you want to be a part of it,
my name is Marcus. Welcome, get in touch if you're
on talk here till midnight. Oh eight hundred and eighty

(01:25:52):
ten eighty and nine two detext we are talking about
the tsunami and dury service. They raised the age from
sixty five to seventy two. Someone says, oh my god,
you are retiring, clicking the pension. Go do your services
you have the time will be the most interesting to
happen to you that week. What if people think they're

(01:26:13):
up to it, that's probably people's concern. That's something you
might want to talk about. Get in touch, yeah anyway.
Hittel twelve twenty three past ten ten twenty six. Diane,
the air waves are yours welcome.

Speaker 8 (01:26:28):
Oh thank you macus. I've been called up for jury
duty three times in my life. One was when my
daughter was at kindy and I couldn't do it then,
and I think and then the children were at school
and we had swimming classes at night time, so I

(01:26:51):
couldn't do it then. And they called me up just recently,
like this year, and I had I'm a bit passed
for I was too old. So I'm just what tell you, Diane, tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
What doesn't there be that much crime there for you
to be called up three times?

Speaker 8 (01:27:12):
I know, Oh that's over a period of our life
still with each persons.

Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
Three that's a pretty crimey sounding.

Speaker 8 (01:27:18):
Place, isn't it sort of quiet and down late over
the years.

Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Yeah, you don't hear about that. You don't know about
the gangs. Used to hear aout the gangs lot, didn't
you and much anymore? What gangs were?

Speaker 13 (01:27:31):
They were they the remember now there was only the
road nights.

Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
Yeah, it was the road nights, wasn't it.

Speaker 8 (01:27:38):
Yes, you never hear anything.

Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
And I think we had them in the cargo, but
I think now they've been taken off the gang list.
There's none of them left.

Speaker 8 (01:27:46):
And also I saw you online.

Speaker 11 (01:27:51):
TV.

Speaker 8 (01:27:51):
I'm in my computer. Rather, I saw you caught a
clip of you there just a few weeks just before
you went our holiday.

Speaker 6 (01:28:01):
Yeah, what doing I know?

Speaker 8 (01:28:03):
I just caught it a tlip of you. Yeah, it
was just just in there, like you know. The other
guy from TV was on my from the Simon Simon.
He was on the computer yesterday, but he was really
wondering about wanting to see what we were thinking of

(01:28:25):
the Prime minister. Yeah, that was you know. Of course
is his name Simon something or other than that's his
wife at nighttime comes on about four o'clock on the radio.
It's just my computers, wholly on the computer, Diane. He

(01:28:45):
was just a weak corner snipper of you. Yeah, and
you know basically you're probably about the same.

Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
Is this is this the new commercial? Is that what
it is?

Speaker 12 (01:28:58):
No?

Speaker 8 (01:28:58):
No, you were just caught caught on there. It must
have come through on my computer. Yeah, only only just
a week tip of you.

Speaker 17 (01:29:07):
No, I do what.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
I've got no idea what this is daying.

Speaker 21 (01:29:10):
No, no I have for either.

Speaker 8 (01:29:13):
But oh oh there's Marc and it must had your
name there or something. Yeah, yeah, isn't it funny?

Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
Well?

Speaker 8 (01:29:20):
Remember remember Simon Hoskins has been on my computer as well,
and then was it yes that I had the day before?
The other guy from the TV program, He was on
there because he wanted our viewpoint on the Prime Minister
at the present time.

Speaker 2 (01:29:38):
So not a skin. They're not asking you for money,
are they?

Speaker 24 (01:29:42):
No?

Speaker 8 (01:29:42):
No, no, no, no, no, there was just you had Simon.
That's a name, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
Oscar?

Speaker 8 (01:29:54):
Oh yeah, he was just a week No Simon Simon, Yeah,
there was yesterday they're looking for so I just gave him,
gave them an answer. But if people I didn't have
the thing, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
You good aujury service?

Speaker 8 (01:30:07):
Have you stopped going, No, I don't I'm too old.

Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
How old do you, Diane?

Speaker 8 (01:30:14):
Oh I can't tell you that.

Speaker 2 (01:30:16):
Okay, well it were you born nineteen thirty something?

Speaker 8 (01:30:19):
No, no, not quite herself.

Speaker 12 (01:30:21):
End of the war.

Speaker 2 (01:30:24):
Always gets some when you asked that. Thanks very much
for that. Nate here again, cleaning the sumps up at
Eastern Hut Road, mad Mile. Just look across the Hayward cell.
Looks like it's closed from the Hut side. Thanks for that.
You've got any weather reports come through? Eight hundred and eighty,
ten eighty. What's happened tonight? We're still trying to find
that stolen car. I'll give you the numbers soon about
that Romeo November Yankee thirty one. I'll be happy, very

(01:30:49):
happy not to see that done. Stupid one news Internet
ever again the whole family freak and I've got no
idea what's going on. It freaks me out. I just
wonder if that woman's getting scam ads because I don't
know what she's talking about. Seven's is markets and I
sent who took a lot of jury trials after the
christ Church quake as the christ Church courts were closed.

(01:31:10):
Fair enough, Thank you, Marcus call the must be talking
about and an animated image adds of news talks. He'd
be I see them on news sites. They normally show
other presents. I've got no idea what she's talking about.
I haven't seen anything animated, so you got no idea.
But good on it. As long as you're not don't
send money if it's a scam, I'd be saying about
that twenty had away from eleven. If you want to

(01:31:31):
be a part of the show, Greetings and welcome. We're
talking about jury servers dury duty. People say they're too
old at seventy two seventy three. Text Or was say
I think if you can vote, you should also do
jury judy. If we think ninety year old, sheever saying
our government they should be involved in other ways too.

(01:31:53):
The rain is still heavy and relentless here in Masterton.
It will be a long night for some, but the
community is readying around helping. We're needed. We had water
rise on one side of our house. It's happened before,
so preventive work saved it today. Clever husbands. An engineer
pulled a plug for a sump and it flowed away
in a whirlpool. We're okay, but we're thinking of others.
That's the spirit. The jury pay and mileage reimbursement are

(01:32:16):
fixed by legislation. Haven't been up at it in decades.
Biggest barriage to attendance is the lowly pay. The only
way to increase the jury pay is to change the legislation.
We'll increased jury frees will be a huge cost to
the taxpayer. Jury trials are expensive. Well, you can't put
a price on justice jury duty. The current proces is

(01:32:37):
too long to be finally selected or dismissed if you
do fit what each of the lawyers want. Unless they
have improved, it would not have been keen to go back.
I would not have been kidding go back. I wasn't selected.
Isn't there some change to jury trials? Aren't more becoming
judge only? Possibly much better for victim and defender both.
Some trials don't occur for months or every year. Who

(01:32:58):
could truly recall details after this time? And those who
are guilty, what are they doing at home watching TV?
Can't be? And moran can they until the trial? Can they?

Speaker 14 (01:33:06):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
They can? Twenty six away from eleven If you want
to talk, if you've got updates about the weather, or
anything else would be nice to hear from you. Yeah,
there's a big hitcover. Someone sent me the weather forecast
a lot more weather coming towards north and apparently on
Ventue Ventu Sky.

Speaker 12 (01:33:27):
You can.

Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
Oh, it's quite a good website that. Yeah, he doesn't
know there's a big hit. I don't know. Yeah, I
guess I was going to say, I don't know how
many boys out there predicting the weather. I guess most
we's done from space. There is and its satellites. Sidney,
if you're the active in the north, now do talk
if you want to. People do come through. In the cricket,
Bangladesh making quick work in New Zealand's total currently on
sixty six for two in the tenth over chasing one

(01:33:51):
nine to nine. That's a situation that's with the cricket.
Be in touch with you on Talk twenty six away
from eleven o'clock evening, Taylor. It's Marcus. Welcome, good evening
to you.

Speaker 17 (01:34:02):
Marcus.

Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
How are you good, thanks, Taylor.

Speaker 17 (01:34:04):
Yeah, So I'm in Willington Central right now. I'm just
staying in one of the halls of residences with the universities,
and I just went down to the New World to
grab some coke and water and taste there's a problem
with the water and all sorts of stuff. It's not
horrible with it not drowning. It just feels like kind
of your average day, Like I mean, I lived in
Hastings for about five years, Dunedin for thirteen before that.

(01:34:27):
Although if you do look at the weather rat it
does say it's ten degrees sousius, but it says feels
like negative three degree sousius, which is a little bit bizarre,
isn't it.

Speaker 2 (01:34:38):
Is the wind from the south. Is that where it's
coming from telecause I measure it's cold.

Speaker 17 (01:34:42):
Yeah, so you're looking at fifty four kilometers per hour
and it's from the south getting north just ninety kilometers
per hour, and it's just going to get worse and worse.
I think it does ease down tomorrow. But just talking
about the weather, like the weather hasn't been you know,

(01:35:02):
this isn't really sudden. I suppose the flash flow and
what knot is a little bit bizarre for wellings and cities.
But over the weekend, I mean I was out with
a couple of mates and we were doing some leaf
living and some Kansas until one of the local MP's
and we were in Bottoni and Lower Assen and it

(01:35:24):
would just like one second to be fine and the
next you'd just be absolutely pouring down. We're praying the
heaviest stuff you've ever seen. And that was the same
that was when they closed off the un Velly Roads.
It was one of the off brands in the motorway
or something.

Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Is there any flooding or ponding of water as you
went to New World, Taylor?

Speaker 16 (01:35:46):
Yeah, well, nothing substantial.

Speaker 17 (01:35:49):
I mean there was kind of near the Chaser's Bay
kind of footpaths because the footpaths are a little bit,
but there's kind of a huge there's almost like a
huge pool of water and I nearly stepped into it
and got the feet all wet, and it's kind of
just like probably water that's accumulated. I don't know if

(01:36:11):
there was a drain nearby to complete it. There probably wasn't.
But it's nothing. It's nothing horrible. I mean, it is weir,
but it's not like a It just it does feel
like a rainy day right now. And I'm kind of
in the Manor Street street.

Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
You should have got delivered easy. That's what people do.
They don't go out of the house.

Speaker 17 (01:36:29):
Ah well, I need the exercise.

Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
No, you really, why you should be fat?

Speaker 5 (01:36:33):
I'm going to burn off.

Speaker 17 (01:36:34):
I've got to burn off the coke.

Speaker 25 (01:36:35):
You know.

Speaker 17 (01:36:36):
I can't just go and buy, you know, a two
liter bottle of full fat coke and expect myself to
just you know, feel good about it if I get
it delivered. And also it's limit expensive if you deliver it,
because you know, they up rices on the apps and
you've got to pay five dollars for this. He's got
to pay four dollars for a service fee and an
us A paid tip to the driver, and all of
a sudden, you're pretty much paying for about four bottles

(01:36:57):
of coke.

Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
Why are politicians delivering at this time of the year?

Speaker 13 (01:37:00):
What are they?

Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
What are the sucers saying?

Speaker 17 (01:37:04):
So the one that I was delivering for, so that
was just an annual newsleader and that's for that's the
Hot South. It pretty much just saying this is what
I've done over the past year. It's like a you know,
a four sighted you know better, Ay Foy.

Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
Which politician we're delivering for?

Speaker 13 (01:37:22):
Taylor?

Speaker 2 (01:37:23):
It was I was trying to guess who it was.
Did he did he come out and help you?

Speaker 17 (01:37:27):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah he he was doing some leafleting
of his own. I don't know if I can say this,
but we also had a b y o U afterwards
with a few of the other young Nets. It was
pretty terrific evenings.

Speaker 2 (01:37:44):
Have any party getting on the booze with the old
with the young nets. That sounds like a right, yeah,
what do Taylor? Would he be a good prom is
he would he be a good Prome minister? I see
he scrubbed up goes here it would he be a
good leader?

Speaker 17 (01:37:57):
Look what I'd say to you is I think the
National Party is doing really well.

Speaker 23 (01:38:00):
For the.

Speaker 2 (01:38:02):
Asking, I'm asking you if Chris Bishop would be a
good prime minister.

Speaker 17 (01:38:06):
I think the National Party is Okay, We're.

Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
Not going to that sort of speak. Cheapest crep is
a fairy soft question. Nineteen away from eleven O eight
hundred and eighty ten eighty chase straight into that full
fat coke. Yep, we said, full fat coke, full fat coke.
Fancy delivering it during the Young Nts in your first
year in the Halls of Residence. Goodness, oh well, good

(01:38:31):
on them, goodness head or twelve you want to talk
eighteen away from eleven eight hundred and eighty ten eighty
jury service run about tonight, amongst other stuff. I'll give
you a road update two when I felt well, i'd
give it now. Actually a lot of roads are closed.
I'll just check on those. There was the whited artist
seems to be slammed. There as a text alert coming

(01:38:53):
out from there. I'm liking the text alerts. We're not
doing them too often for a while. There they're doing
with the missing people and stuff that didn't quite seem
to have the gravity. I'm missing person's bad. But it's
almost a daily event, isn't it does the road situation,
the road between Masts and Carterton has closed, Hamlin's Hill

(01:39:14):
has closed, Hayward's Hill rather get it right, Hayward's Hells.
They've pulled the pin on that. The bridges across the
Hut River are closed. They're worried about piles getting the
piles getting damaged. Now we've got some road closures too.
North of New Plymouth, the road to Puopio is closed.

(01:39:34):
That State Highway three and State Highway forty three the
forbidden highway forbidden to drive along it tonight because that's
closed too, slips and debris, debris or debris. Marcus. We
are in rural Pongadoa and the Tataua and it's been
such a huge thunder and lightning storm. The whole house
is shaking at times, still pouring. Now there you go,

(01:39:56):
So it's coming up. It seems it's up the country,
although it hasn't. This didn't seem to be weather that
was on. It was weather. We came when we can
when a repleasant calm weather in Stuart Island. But we
came across the ferry was well, it was rough enough.
I thought, so, yeah, I guess this is probably where
the system that's coming from the south. Yeah, three days
ago it was really bad. But that's a situation now.

(01:40:19):
If you want to be on air, that's the planned people.
If you want to talk eight hundred eighty ten eighty.
If you've got emails or texts, send those so I'll
read those. You've got to we are talking jury service
and I'm keep you up to late with you. I've
got I've kind of lost interest in the golf of
straight ohor moves. The latest headlines nineteen minutes ago cease

(01:40:40):
fire under pressure as Araun has no plans for talks
after us Caesar's ship, and the markets have reflected that
lap of lack of optimism. Yep, and looks like Keir
Starmers still got his job after appointment of Mendelssohn to
the United States. Is the ambassador. So that's the latest
I've got for you. Heretil midnight if you want to talk.

(01:41:04):
Eight hundred eighty ten eighty and nine two ninety The
text fifteen from eleven paul As Marcus. Good evening, Marcus.

Speaker 5 (01:41:12):
My name is Paula. I'm on Jeffs down on Seaviews
down in Warrington's spikes. I'm actually from Organ. I'm in
seaview You said no that in Warrington?

Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
Yeah, copy.

Speaker 5 (01:41:28):
And it's absolutely inspiring a storm through here. I mean
the roads were clothed, right, I mean I can hear
us here. It's pretty bad. The storm's pretty bad. And
you know what last time, when I've been here for
a month, and when they got that storm coming from

(01:41:48):
our school, what's called.

Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
Being the something, Oh yeah, you have the sick yep.

Speaker 5 (01:41:54):
They said it's coming, it's coming coming, And I thought
ship because I live in augurand and so I had to.
I wanted to go back to ugand and I said, no,
you can't go because it's going to be so bad
blah blah blah. And so I could have gone because
what I'm facing now is so west when what Yeah,

(01:42:18):
what it was are.

Speaker 2 (01:42:20):
The waves crashing over the shore. There's it where they're
coming in from the south west.

Speaker 5 (01:42:24):
Oh, that's meshing over the shore by their woods. I'm
not just sure about.

Speaker 2 (01:42:31):
Either way on the street bridge here, Yeah, that'll be
the one we have the hut River. Yeah, because I
saw they closed the roads. They closed the road earlier
on around to Eastbourne. I think someone reported that they did.

Speaker 5 (01:42:40):
They did close because I went out and I came
back and it's going to go the long way, and
I'm from I don't know. I don't know the long way, Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:42:49):
I didn't even know there was a long.

Speaker 5 (01:42:51):
Way around Good. Yeah, I got lost.

Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
Is it raining heavily now there, Paul?

Speaker 5 (01:43:04):
It's probably not too much rain the small winds.

Speaker 2 (01:43:09):
Okay, I'll check on that. You are you down Are
you down there for work? Are you down there for work? Paul?

Speaker 5 (01:43:18):
Honestly, I came down Good buy a boat, so I
was going to go back to Aukland, and then they
said the storm's coming and could have made the fact
I've been here for two months?

Speaker 2 (01:43:29):
Are you going to take the boat? Are you going
to take the boat back to Auckland?

Speaker 5 (01:43:32):
Yeah, but I'm so much sit down because they told
me I've got to stay until the storm. The storms
there's stalls.

Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
Okay, take care, paulice to hear from it twelve to eleven,
from eleven o'clock hitill midnight tonight. People, I hope it's
good where you are. Well, I know it's not good
with you. I hope it's getting better tomorrow. It's going
to be weds. All get out too. We've got the
met server stuff to throw at them down. Is there
anything we've got? I gotta feel like everyone's tapped out. Eh,
but I'll do my da to get it. By the way,

(01:44:02):
how was that?

Speaker 6 (01:44:03):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
No, We've got that risky mission in the Far North,
haven't we. I meant to keep you update about that.
There's a group stuck on the Far North track. I
don't even know what that Far North track is near Kayle.
If you've got some information about that that would be
of interest to me. I haven't got much latest news
from anyone about what's going on. There has been a tsunami,
but in Japan on the back of a quake, but

(01:44:24):
it doesn't have Petter have done much damage. So if
you want to mention that. The other thing another thing
about that ad for one New Zealand. I think it
moves fast enough. I'm surprised that resonated with people. I
don't mind Tina, but that guy I've got no time for.
But anyway, that's happening.

Speaker 12 (01:44:46):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:44:46):
What some of the other story were talking about jury
service or jury duty and how to get out of it.
Someone say, it's not running in Blenham, but there was
a significant quake that you've done in Blenham A three
point eight. What's the cricket score, Dan, that'll I've got
the news on BBC because I'm trying to watch the tsunami.

(01:45:07):
Eighty three for two. They're chasing one nine nine. This
is Bangladesh. They are betting in the fourteenth over. I
thought the league was good in the weekend too. I
enjoyed watching the Warriors. Thought they had a good win
orthough good first half. There was some positive signs there.
Hayward's hell connecting the hut to pawata Hanui has now closed.

(01:45:29):
That's right, I reported that, so yeah, thanks for that.
So as I didn't feel the earthquake, no, and I
noted we've had people ring up that felt it. It
was quite but I guess it all depends on what's
happening under your house. If you're on the rock, you'll feeling.
If you're on the soft scenes, you probably won't work
as your own kind of pressure absorber. I don't think
it's the point to brag to not feel a quake.

(01:45:50):
Pretty while since I've felt a quake, I don't know
what that's about. Anyway. If you want to talk on
air about any of these things, or there's something has
married some of you might want to put me out
of a misery with marriage. At first sight, I haven't
watched any of it, but certainly it seems to have
captured people. Free to Wear TV doesn't anymore because no
much watches it. But if you want to did that

(01:46:10):
end well, I don't know how far behind Australia where
I certainly saw some news stories over the weekend from it,
so there must have been some spoilers out there. But
if that was something that you've just watched. Let me
know how that ended. You need you'd have to be.
You'd have to be if you went un married at
first sight, you would have to be. You'd have to

(01:46:32):
lack any form of self awareness or judgment. And if
you've got friends that would encourage you to go on that,
you need to question those friendships. I can't think of
anything more damaging you could do. Then put yourself in
the nation's living room at your worst for three months.
Someone from Blenham says, we're lucky we didn't get too
much rain in the last couple of weeks because the
great harvest has just finished. Marcus, I got a jurist

(01:46:53):
service by saying, at this point in time, I could
not be impartial when it comes to New Zealand police.
It was the truth. At the time. I just thought
I'll be honest and see what they say. Old Chris Carter,
the talk back host, he always used to say he
used to give every time he got asked for Juri's service.
He used to say classic Chris Carda. I don't know
if she ever did it, or he would say Chris

(01:47:14):
Cardad the talk back host, not the Polish, and he
would say thank you for asking me to be on
Jury's Service. I'm firming of the view that anyone becomes
before the courts is guilty, and I can't wait to
put more of these idiots behind bars. Although I don't
think he used the word idiot, and they never chose him. Ah,

(01:47:34):
there we go. I don't think about Chris Cardi, the
talkback host. He was ahead of the curve when it
came to the warehouse and Japanese import cars. Maureen, it's Marcus.
Good evening, Hi, Maureen.

Speaker 25 (01:47:46):
Hi, Marcus, Hi, Maureen.

Speaker 14 (01:47:49):
Oh Hi.

Speaker 25 (01:47:51):
I got called up for Jury's service and I got
out of it because my daughter just my seven year
old daughter just broken her arm. She's forty seven now.
But at the time, and I wish the hell I hadn't.

(01:48:12):
I wished I had done it. Why Oh, I would
love to have saved on the jury service.

Speaker 13 (01:48:21):
Really loved it.

Speaker 25 (01:48:25):
Now now I would have. Yeah, And anyway, that a
whole is it a word we use Israel that knit nahu?

Speaker 2 (01:48:39):
Hey, it's a big segue, I know, and I but.

Speaker 25 (01:48:49):
I'll just squeeze it in before the news.

Speaker 2 (01:48:52):
It's not a bad thing to squeeze in, did you.
I guess you don't find out what case you missed
out on?

Speaker 25 (01:48:57):
Do you No, I wouldn't have Cloe, No, I got
out of it.

Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
Yeah no, I have been there once. I got challenged straight.
So I never had a chance to and down south.
I don't get called. I think because I live too
far from the court.

Speaker 25 (01:49:11):
Oh okay, I why I think?

Speaker 2 (01:49:14):
Yeah, I think that's a situation. If you're more than
seventy thirty k's or something, you don't get the old
you don't get the ring.

Speaker 25 (01:49:20):
Yeah, yeah, well this is going back. Yeah she was
seven unless she's forty seven.

Speaker 13 (01:49:28):
Goodness, good good kid, Yeah, very good kid.

Speaker 2 (01:49:33):
I thought she might have been.

Speaker 25 (01:49:34):
Yeah, good Greek kids too.

Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
How many two? You're blessed? Ray, nice to talk, Thank
you our breaking news. Days of Our Lives star Patrick
Muldoon has died at a heart attack at fifty seven.
He was also on Melroe's Place. Yep, he's not someone
I know. He was on Saved by the Bell. Quite

(01:49:59):
a familiar looking I looked a bit like Sean Penn.
I don't fully know what his character was on Melroe's Place.
I watched that occasionally. It was bigger than nineties. Some
of you might remember him. Oh yes, I how'd the
cricket go, Dan, did we win the cricket? We're still losing.
We got one nine nine. We're playing Bangladesh. They're on

(01:50:21):
one one six four.

Speaker 13 (01:50:24):
For two.

Speaker 2 (01:50:24):
How many overs eighteen ninety six percent? It's fifty It
must be fifty overage obviously a twenty other and ninety
six percent chance that they will win. We won the
first thirty ida they won this one. That's the situation there.
How many runs they need? Eighty three or one undred

(01:50:45):
and sixty? Okay, I'll get that. Marcus blowing a suddenly
gown of Harwarder chairs. Tony Marcus, were you on where
will you winning? All rug Off? The Gulf of Mexico
exploded sixteen years ago today? Don't remember that Marcus was
hoping you would be on Celebrity Treasure on this series.
Have you ever been asked yes, have I gone on?

Speaker 17 (01:51:04):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:51:05):
I don't know if that I'd have done its dash really,
And then, of course you see the people from Celebrity
Treasure Island who do articles about their appearance, and all
the responses say, then on the ground for celebrities, Oh
and gosh, it's a hiding to nothing, isn't it? Why
would you go on. I think the Facebook comments from

(01:51:26):
some of those things are extraordinary. Anyway, no doubt there'd
be some headlines and some confessions and all sorts of stuff.
But if you did watch the final of merrit at
first Sight tonight, if you want to give me a
report on that, that would be of interest to me.
I don't know any of the people involved, but I
certainly know that a lot of people watched it and
got fixxated on it, which I think is the whole plan.

(01:51:49):
It was on every night of the week, I think,
wasn't I mean, it was a big commitment to watch it.
I mean, once you invested, you were really invested. Hello, Jenny,
this is Marcus.

Speaker 7 (01:51:56):
Good evening soon and I've been on jury service, would
be about fifteen years ago. I think I got called
up about three times, but I was working so I
couldn't do it. And then a couple of times I
went in, I could do it, but I didn't, you know,
they do a ballot. But then another time I got

(01:52:19):
I did end up on the jury and.

Speaker 3 (01:52:23):
It was a bit.

Speaker 7 (01:52:24):
Harrowing because it was for a little late year old
girl that had passed away, and it was trying to
figure out who'd done what.

Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
That sounds really harrowing.

Speaker 22 (01:52:34):
It was.

Speaker 7 (01:52:34):
It was because you go in and you sit down
and your heart's pounding. My heart's handing now just talking
about it, and you sit down and they give you
a folder and they say, you know what the charges are.
I think it was Man's store right now. It wasn't.
It was willful neglect because it was the mother much

(01:52:55):
about the cases, but I just don't really realize. They
give you a folder with all the details in it,
and the thing that really got to me was open
this folder and there's a picture of the little baby,
and you think that.

Speaker 13 (01:53:11):
I thought.

Speaker 2 (01:53:13):
What I've noticed, and I think I might have been
in the ballot. I don't think I was challenged. I
think I didn't get But it seems as though once
you were there and taken out from the room to you,
it all begins very quickly, doesn't you go from your
sitting into a room to be involved in the most
intense discussions of your life. I mean, it does sound.

(01:53:33):
It sounds jarring to me, but I just I really had.

Speaker 7 (01:53:37):
A feeling that this is my duty, and I thought
it is I'm here for this little girl that can't
speak for herself. And I felt very passionate about it,
and I'm glad I did it. And they do offer
you afterwards. They it went on for about four days,
and they do offer you a service afterwards if you

(01:54:00):
feel that you need some counseling or anything. So that's
really good.

Speaker 2 (01:54:03):
But I was okay, but did you make any did
you make any mates?

Speaker 24 (01:54:07):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (01:54:08):
You did get quite close to people, but you didn't.
I lived in the country, so you didn't sort of,
you know, you all went different ways and you'd see
them sometimes. But it was amazing, really, and everybody just
came from different walks of life. And I think it
was a really great experience with sounds of it's silly,
but I'd do it again. But I'm too old now,

(01:54:30):
but I have never ever forgotten that little girl, and
I often think about here.

Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
So there was fifteen years ago, wasn't it? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:54:39):
Out, but yeah, you know, how are you now?

Speaker 2 (01:54:42):
How are you now?

Speaker 3 (01:54:42):
Jenny?

Speaker 7 (01:54:43):
Seventy seven?

Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:54:44):
Okay, yes, because I have raged. Didn't sound that I
have raged the age up to seventy three, but yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:54:49):
Okay, yeah, yeah, But I just was lying there listening
and I thought, yes, I'm going to get up.

Speaker 2 (01:54:55):
Yeah, good, I appreciate that too. And I think everyone that, well,
most people I know have been on jury service. They
they're heartened by the sensibleness of the process that people,
you know, a group of people all together can make
good decisions, which I always think is quite encouraging.

Speaker 7 (01:55:10):
Yes, And I think someone, you know, especially when it's
a death, someone has to yeah, I don't know, be
accountable for.

Speaker 5 (01:55:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:55:18):
So that's what your job is and you do it
to the best of your ability.

Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
And yeah, nice to talk. Do you think so much
of that? Twenty two past eleven being touched jury service
and the weather and the straight of hor moves and
the poll and the leadership of Christopher Reluxen. Will he
be the promise of going into November? Will he be
the promise after November? Marcus Morning, Marcus Patrick Muldoon, Starting

(01:55:43):
Days of Our Lives, Austin Reid, Melrose Place, Richard Hart,
Starship Troopers. It's a good film. Xander Barcloade to name
some shows, Thank you, Jan Marcus. Watching Al Jazeera sounds
like war is back on us hit Iranian ship. They're
talking about not attending peace talks. Yes, that's certainly what
I was reading about that they don't need to now

(01:56:07):
they've got the ability to open and close the straight
offar moves. That will going to be Trump's worst idea ever.
When are we going to get an update on how
much oil we've got? I don't quite know what's going
on with that in the scheme of things, probably not
getting the updates that we need, but that's something now
I'm just trying to say to the other updates from Wellington. No,
I'm not seeing either. I've got no understanding of this,

(01:56:30):
but it seems to me I don't know where what's
going on. But there was an emergency alert issue to
the wire ARPA earlier tonight at about nine point forty.
So yeah, clearly they're concerned about stuff, asking about and
talking about self evacuation, all sorts of stuff. Yeah, Haywood's
Hell Road has closed because of flooding. That was Now

(01:56:52):
it's about ten pm. An emergency no notification to the
Maston District Council because the rivers there are flowing very heavily.
Twenty three past eleven, Antonio, this is Marcus. Welcome evening,
Good evening, Marcus.

Speaker 20 (01:57:10):
I've been on the jury. Juji called up five times,
but not once have I served because each time I attend,
I know the person who's going to be prosecuted, so
they released me.

Speaker 2 (01:57:30):
Is it because you're in a small town or because
you know a lot of criminals?

Speaker 20 (01:57:35):
Well, I know a lot of people markets. Yeah, I'm
in palmis the North now and I talked to so
many people and we strike up a talk and I
asked them, you know what profession they're in, just in
case I need their service, And it just goes on

(01:57:55):
and on.

Speaker 2 (01:57:56):
Marcus, Well, obviously free social. Will you say you're in
Palmerston North Now? Where were you before?

Speaker 20 (01:58:02):
I was down in the cargo.

Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
Oh goodness, I was in.

Speaker 20 (01:58:10):
What's the street now? I'm just trying to remember. It's
Roussalem area.

Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
I difery know the suburbs.

Speaker 20 (01:58:17):
Windsor Windsor Street.

Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
I think, oh, yeah, we're there for a long time.

Speaker 20 (01:58:23):
Yes, well, it was first in Riverton, then we moved
in the cargo and I used to fish on the
wharf and get nothing but the ships. But the boats
were coming and throwing me a big fish over and
I take them home and tell my mum and dad
that I caught a fish. Yes, it's a bit of

(01:58:49):
a sad situation. What's going on overseas market? Yes, well,
one man at President of the United States saying we're
having peace, and then he turns around and sees, well,
he's coming for the uranium, and I run, can do
it the easy way all the hard ways. So this

(01:59:10):
seems to be going on for quite a whild masters
and I feel sad about it. All the people suffering
around the world with high prices and everything. When will
they be the end? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
Oh look, I don't think there's any plan at all.
But yeah, I appreciate you coming through Antonio, thanks so
much for that jury service straight off for moves, but
I was still waiting for the married at first site call.
Hope you'll get someone's opinion on that. I don't know
why the woman went so nasty brief respite and warnica
on diesel from four I won to three point thirty
four about to be reversed in my opinion. So yeah,

(01:59:47):
not looking good in the Middle East. That's my take
on that. Get in touching on a talk on air
tonight also too. I know we had a lot of
talk about luxon on Friday. Three days later. Have your
feelings changed because the poll that came out last night.
It seemed to be one in which there's scenarios where

(02:00:11):
Winston's out of the picture and then there's a certain charm.
Might be something you can mention. Also, people talking about
the Top Party. It's been around for I don't know
who all gets there. All the money for the Top
Party comes from there simply have endless amounts. The Opportunity Party,

(02:00:33):
they're at about three percent. I don't know who funds them.
The Bluegreens, so they've got some live wires running for them,
none of them I know, just seeing they've got anyone
from Invert Cargill, no money. North Island people, it seems
fresh faced. Anyho who to talk this or anything else,
feel free to a pine if anyone went to the

(02:00:57):
racing atpoo. I just I'm really asked you the question
about the racing because I kind of don't curiously what
it was like. Because a lot of it got a
lot of media, it seems be a big deal. But
I just thought motor racing is a little bit of
a drone, isn't it. But people seem to have enjoyed it,
So that's something else you could mention. Tonight the latest

(02:01:21):
I can see about the report Donald Trump will consider
lifting the US block out of Ourny imports an attempt
to overcome the police talk peace talk Deadlocke, Netherlands unlocking
eight hundred or a billion bucks a gas to ease
the pain. And that's the latest that I've got from
the situation of the Middle East. Not that exciting. Someone

(02:01:46):
says how many people and what percentage of people who
could vote were polled? And do we even know the demographics?
And who tell the truth? I wonder who's driving all
this pole hesitancy that people have a lot of work
goes into the pole. So I mean, it seems to

(02:02:09):
be a strange form of denial just to ignore the poles.
I kind of can't, you know. And that's what a
failing government will try and ask you to do, is
to ignore the poles. But I can't believe people are
so observe it and just ignoring them. Marcus, you reported
the road between Marsden and Carden was closed. It's all

(02:02:30):
flat road between those towns. But the Wang howa river
is there? It can only be the Wang hour has
spilled over. Someone will know I it was surfers flooding.
But if someone else knows about that. I just spoke
to the stop Going Night guy earlier tonight, but that's
all I can tell you. Jerry, this is Marcus Good Evening.

Speaker 3 (02:02:50):
Curre there, Marcus Good, thank you. I've just just tuned in.
So I just heard you mentioned Meths because I've just
been watching Meths.

Speaker 12 (02:03:00):
Good.

Speaker 2 (02:03:00):
You're a super fan to call it? How long had
married at first sight?

Speaker 7 (02:03:04):
Go for?

Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
Has it gone for about two months? Has it it?

Speaker 5 (02:03:07):
Probably?

Speaker 3 (02:03:08):
The actual filming is a heck of a long time,
because I look at the bit of background and so
too on sometimes when it gets towards the end, especially
when they have the sort of the final thing, and
I go and onto the phone and just look up,
who's still together?

Speaker 2 (02:03:27):
How long before its screen here? Did a screen in Australia?

Speaker 3 (02:03:31):
About six months? I don't know that answer. The only
thing I do know is that they were talking tonight
because I also watched the thing on the couch afterwards.
They have had another couple of people, two or three
people who.

Speaker 13 (02:03:46):
Haven't chat with them superant.

Speaker 2 (02:03:49):
So was it five nights a week? Jerry?

Speaker 3 (02:03:51):
No, it's they dropped it back for this session for
this season they had and I only watched the Aussie
one because the English one wasn't very good. And but
they they they started off. It used to be with
Sunday to Wednesday I think, or maybe Thursday, and then

(02:04:14):
no nothing Wednesday, and then this time they've only.

Speaker 13 (02:04:17):
Got it like I think they've got three nights nights,
I guess, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (02:04:23):
And was this one a particularly.

Speaker 13 (02:04:28):
A bras of competitive the most toxic that I've watched?

Speaker 2 (02:04:34):
So why so? What where was the toxicity from.

Speaker 3 (02:04:38):
In the woman? They were just just what did they
call them?

Speaker 6 (02:04:43):
Nasty?

Speaker 3 (02:04:43):
Nasty girls or what's that? There's a god of expression?
Mean girls, mean girls, That's what they were here.

Speaker 2 (02:04:50):
So were they not happy with the men? They got
checked up?

Speaker 3 (02:04:53):
The men they got no man would be happy with them.

Speaker 2 (02:04:59):
And with a woman a group themselves, did they get
on with each other?

Speaker 3 (02:05:02):
No, they fought with each other too. There was one woman.
There was one woman gear I think me or I
know what her name was me And anyway she was
she was on the on the on the couch with us.
They have this after after party thing they talk about
the thing afterwards for it with another group. Anyway, they
were sitting she was sitting there with it with the

(02:05:23):
bloke she was with the African American guy, and and
she was always interrupting them and talking them down and
over and anyway, she she kept doing it. And she
didn't know what what was wrong with white didn't work.
And even though all the experts pointed out to her,
and he pointed it out to her, she was she

(02:05:49):
just kept going. As soon as she opened his mouth,
she was strong. She was just shutting down. And and
she never learned. And she said, I'm really going to
work on herself.

Speaker 17 (02:05:56):
And she was.

Speaker 15 (02:05:57):
She she was.

Speaker 3 (02:05:58):
She was a bad case.

Speaker 2 (02:06:01):
You wonder how the people feel where they see themselves
portrayed on TV and such a loathsome way. I mean,
it must be devastating to actually film something to go
and something looking for romance and ending up with all
of Australia and New Zealand hating you for how twisted
and nasty you are.

Speaker 3 (02:06:18):
Well, well, I think they're oblivious to a lot of it.
They feel bad because they look bad, However they don't
realize they've got a problem.

Speaker 12 (02:06:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:06:27):
Look, I don't think it's the path to happiness. I
think I think friends totally let friends go and married
it for you so to be a disastrous thing to do.

Speaker 3 (02:06:34):
Yes, but one couple this time, one couple was just great.
He went down at the end that when they had
that final thing, that's that when they make their decision
to each other. He went down on his name, proposed
to her and gave her an engagement ring.

Speaker 2 (02:06:50):
So how many couples were there? Were there ten couples.

Speaker 3 (02:06:54):
Are about nine years about that?

Speaker 2 (02:06:57):
Yeah, and there's only was there any one? Was there
any one at the end that decided to go for God.

Speaker 3 (02:07:01):
I'm only one that succeeded that. There were about there
were about four I think at the end, maybe three
or four.

Speaker 2 (02:07:08):
Who was still was still potentially together.

Speaker 7 (02:07:11):
Is that right?

Speaker 3 (02:07:12):
Well, they know they weren't prudentially They were the ones
who did their final vows together, and and and the
only only one two of them actually said yes, you know,
we'll stay together. And one was very successful and the
other two the guy was a bit that sort of

(02:07:33):
he wasn't really to settle down. And he and and
and the woman really fell in love with him because
you know, she wasn't that attractive. That she was a
lovely lady, and you know she really saw this as
her chance, you know, And and and and and he
was a country boy who lacked the confidence to maturity

(02:07:53):
to settle down, and he agreed. They both agreed to
stay together. And then within a week that had split
up because he could he he went down to Melbourne.
He was from Sydney in the country, and he went
down to Melbourne and he couldn't handle it, and he
he just broke it off with her. And I thought
they would succeed, but they didn't.

Speaker 2 (02:08:12):
I'm going to look more into that, Jerry, Thank you
so much for that. Twenty five to twelve, Hi Genesis,
Marcus good evening Hell.

Speaker 14 (02:08:20):
I got called up for jury service. But the date
that I was supposed to report was also the due
date of my twin pregnancy.

Speaker 3 (02:08:30):
Oh wow.

Speaker 14 (02:08:31):
So I sent her an a doctor's certificate and I
got excused. But of course twins often arrive early. So
a few days before the date I was supposed to
go in for jury service, I posted in a photograph
of my four week old identical twin daughters.

Speaker 2 (02:08:48):
What's the rules around babies? Are there months? I suppose
you ken and can't.

Speaker 18 (02:08:54):
Do it or what?

Speaker 14 (02:08:55):
I'm not sure of it. It was lit is thirty
odd years ago. Even if you had a pre scholler
you could be automatically excused. Husband. My disabled husband once
got called up for jury service and he wrote and
then he said, can you get a wheelchair into the

(02:09:16):
jury box? The disabled toilets available?

Speaker 13 (02:09:21):
What?

Speaker 14 (02:09:21):
What's the disabled parking available? And they wrote back and
said that he was excused.

Speaker 2 (02:09:27):
Wow, sounds like they've got to work on accessibility to me.

Speaker 14 (02:09:32):
Yeah, that was also quite a few years ago.

Speaker 2 (02:09:34):
Ye might have changed. Oh, good on you, Jennis, Thank you, Eric.
It's Marcus.

Speaker 6 (02:09:39):
Welcome here, Marcus good talking about the old mess merrit
at first sight. Yes, WA's quite a few few in
my partner watch quite a few for the series of that.
This one was that guy's right, This one was the
was by far the worst behavior I've seen on them.

(02:09:59):
In fact, they should be embarrassed.

Speaker 2 (02:10:01):
But is that what made it so?

Speaker 25 (02:10:02):
What?

Speaker 2 (02:10:02):
People are quite compelled by that, aren't they?

Speaker 6 (02:10:05):
Well, well, I mean again, I guess you know, this
is what gets people watching these programs as the controversy
in the programs. But these ones went just a bit
too far, you know, I took it took far, through far.
There was there was four girls on it that were
there were really just behaving really like school kid, but
school kid stuff, teenage stuff sort of stuff. You'd see

(02:10:26):
the nice little girls at school picking on people. And
it was Geo was the head leader. She was the
head head bully. She was the one that always behind
the scenes, pulling the strings and and you know, spreading
rumors and making sure everything time there was a bit
of controversy, Jia was there behind it all and then
she spread spread it all and then sit back and

(02:10:48):
watch it all happen. And then he had Brook who
was there. She she apparently was a model. She was
a real, real nasty, nasty girl. When what she was
saying to people just just foul. Beck was just a
little bit insane.

Speaker 2 (02:11:05):
So why do people get But why would these people
go on and behave so badly? I don't get it.
I don't get what are they making a lot of
money with Instagram accounts or only fan account? I mean,
is there is there an income stream that goes with it?

Speaker 6 (02:11:18):
Personally, I think Geo was is one of those ones
that's kind of all about the image, you know, of
blowing up looks in the in the dro fake everything,
and her type personality. They're like picking on people, but
in tiree person and on that program was fake. She

(02:11:38):
was there for the wrong reasons. She had a really
nice guy.

Speaker 1 (02:11:41):
His name was Scott.

Speaker 6 (02:11:42):
He was a good guy and had she not behaved
like a douchebag, she would end up with a lovely
person looking after her.

Speaker 13 (02:11:49):
Goodness was too much, too little, too.

Speaker 6 (02:11:52):
Late by the time she figured it out. But he
just walked away in the end, you know.

Speaker 15 (02:11:57):
But the trouble was that the.

Speaker 6 (02:11:59):
Four girls would just feed off themselves, and you know,
one would get in and the other one would go,
and they picked on another. You know, does have a
girl got a listen and just pick off for no reason?
And horrible there was foul man. You couldn't even that
was terrible.

Speaker 2 (02:12:14):
You didn't think of tearing it off though you kept
didn't They didn't you kept watching.

Speaker 6 (02:12:18):
Well, yeah, I mean that's what TV's about, mate. Well,
there's not so much all that stuff.

Speaker 13 (02:12:25):
It's actually the.

Speaker 6 (02:12:25):
Human psychology behind people's behavior. It's very interesting watching psychology
people's psychology. You can see why they're single.

Speaker 2 (02:12:34):
Yeah, don't disagree, Eric, Thank you. Eighteen to twelve. Hi Niel,
it's Marcus. Good evening and welcome.

Speaker 9 (02:12:40):
Oh my, I remember that show mabe. I didn't like
gear right from start. I didn't like to look for
a straight away fast so much so so it wouldn't
be made at for in my case.

Speaker 2 (02:12:51):
Well ever got any choice, though, have you?

Speaker 9 (02:12:56):
They forced them to be to get that.

Speaker 2 (02:12:58):
Well, yeah, I think the whole premise is weird because yeah,
they too would have been an experiment. But it's just
exploitation vulnerable people.

Speaker 9 (02:13:07):
To me, this really isn't it. As far as jury
Sivis goes. I was called up in nine age seven,
and it was all right, you know, they asked about
my back band and everything, and do I know anyone?

(02:13:27):
There's like a quiz a christ of it. And then
in nineteen ninety seven when I was called up, I
mean used to get let off. I sent the letter
and my brother, on the other hand, he was called
up and turned it down because he had two babies
in the house and they were keeping him up at night.
And then he went for it just recently his second time,

(02:13:50):
and I rang them up. Just catch up with them
and talk them three weeks. I'm sorry, they can't have
a conversation with you on the phone because someone in
jury service. And so I left that for about two
weeks and then the phone ring and he said, actually
it's only us for twenty three hours or so for him.

Speaker 2 (02:14:11):
Oh yeah, what happened after this? How quickly they got
a verdict?

Speaker 3 (02:14:14):
Yes? How quick?

Speaker 13 (02:14:16):
Wow?

Speaker 9 (02:14:16):
So yeah, because.

Speaker 2 (02:14:20):
You normal that as you shouldn't know. I respect people
not doing that. I always think it's good that people
won't because I don't know the actual laws.

Speaker 9 (02:14:26):
But yeah, no, we mustn't hiver discuss the case, even
if you even years long, because you just don't do that.

Speaker 2 (02:14:35):
No, that would be my thoughts. Okay, Well, use today
Neil thinks nice to talk.
