the press stand up that I'm not at spokesperson on
education either. But this is something I'm particularly interested in.
David and I have been talking about this for a
week or so. Now I knew that it was being formulated,
the policy, and I'm particularly interested in this because I

have always I have long been concerned about the fact
that we lead the world in bullying in this country,
in terms of behavior in schools. We are at the
bottom internationally, at the bottom of the pack, and there
is absolutely no reason for that other than the fact
that we've got something terribly wrong in education.

Well, what is wrong is that the lack of legal
power and a bit of a blurring about what you
can and can't do, or is it also a lack
of support for teachers for that?
Speaker 5 (04:19):
Yeah, I think it's both. I think there is definitely
a blurring, but I think there is there is definitely
a And I hate the term, well do I hate it? Woke?
I don't. I don't like using it. But you know,
you look at the teachers counsel, you look at the
rulings from the teachers council. They are almost always supporting
the student.

Got next feelings of the on this of course, because
I was, I think a disruptive student. I was certainly
labeled one. It all came to a head with my
physics teacher who used to move people away from me
so I couldn't disrupt them, and then it literally ended
up with me on one side of the class, anybody

else on the other side of the class, which wasn't
precnical because it was a physics lab. And yeah, there
was it was those tall desks, you know, sort of
like arleners, you know the ones I mean, and they
just weren't enough for everybody on one side of the class.
They're all hunched up. So I was that was a
major disruption, I will admit, I mean, what do you

do with somebody like me?

I ask you us talk si them.

You'd probably give them a thirty year career radio, I
reckon is the answer for that. That's what happens to
people like Roman Travers.

The performance also established a new Oceania record, which is
just incredible and cemented Zoe Hobb's place among the greatest
athletes of New Zealand, the greatest that we're produced. And
that's just one one of the amazing highlights in the
mix for me of fabulous New Zealand wins. My youngest
daughter once ran at national level and I loved watching

her incredible determination to be the best runner she could be.
And I share that same sense of joy when I
see determined athletes smashing records and personal bests at these
Commonwealth Games. Letty the weightlifter was another one. He said
a game's record by lifting two hundred and twenty three kilos.
I almost sprained a back muscle watching him to become

a two time Commonwealth Games gold medalist amazing. So yes,
although I haven't been able to see a whole bunch
of events from these Commonwealth Games, I really hope, genuinely
hope that they do have a long future and a
climate where money is being pulled from so many aspects
of life deemed to be unaffordable or frivolous. I sincerely
hope that successive government see the value in supporting our

athletes to be the best that they can be. Whether
or not they do is entirely out of our controls,
out of your controls, out of mind. But all we
can do is cheer loudly and keep celebrating our victorious
competitors in the hope that they will be and there
will be a Commonwealth Games to aim for in twenty thirty.

Watched a bit of a triple jump yesterday. That's one
of the weirdest ones, A like, who out there is going,
Oh I want to be a triple jumper when I
grow up? Is anyone? And yet people do? I just

All Blacks were so dominant back in what was that
fifty seven Albany, that that horrid day that we had
two weeks later it was in Cape Town and it
was a one point game. So yeah, I think the
spring box of the semi's respect between the two sides,
that they know that the All Blacks on the one
side that can lift themselves. We saw in the World Cup,

I mean, going into that final, everybody thought the spring
Box were one song, They're going to win it. Yeah,
and the All Blacks made it an extremely difficult game
which the Springboks were probably lucky to get away with
it then then went on for another ten minutes and
have been a different result. So yeah, you're never safe
against the All Blacks, and it's it's it's always a

game where there's probably less than less than a try
in it normally. And yeah, so I think South Africans
respect the All Blacks a lot, and we're looking forward
to this challenge because things have been going very well
for the Box at the moment. But we know the
one team that can give us a lot of problems
on the orbit.

It's not really arrogance. It's just like talking about the
All Blacks much in the same way as an elephant
might be a bit scared of a mouse. You know,
