On October 23, 1843, in Wilson County, Tennessee two slaves named Sarah White and Benjamin Manson got married on the porch of Sarah’s former owner. A black preacher conducted the ceremony. They had 16 children including John and Martin who fought in the Civil War and William who went West. How do we know about their lives in such detail. Prime Time Focus host Alyne Ellis reports.
