One eight seven seven Doctor Dolly one eight seven seven
D O C D A L I. So most of
us this morning woke up to the news that there
was a huge bust as it pertained to a couple things.
One was an NBA, not college basketball, but n B
(01:01):
a gambling UH operation where players would allegedly or a
player we'll talk about allegedly faked an injury to leave
early so he and his team friends could win on
the under. We we knew that sports betting, you know,
(01:24):
would would uh in the abiquitousness of it and the
and the ease at which you can now bet on
every single drive or every single play, you know, or
every single kick or every single.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Throw or every single.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
You know, we we knew that there you know, that
there was going to be some room for fraud. We
just didn't know it was going to be at this level.
In addition, the FBI busted a uh AN operation that
involved again some NBA players, maybe more. Apparently this investigation
is ongoing where they would be involved in illegal poker
(02:02):
schemes where you would have these celebrities kind of similar
to remember Ocean's eleven, but Brad Pitt was doing where
he had stars, he was technically teaching them how to
play poker. But apparently something that a lot of people
want to do is say, look, I played poker with
so and so, like on Modern Family with Billy d Williams, ook,
I got to play poker with.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
So and so.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Well these you know, playing poker with a star and
a celebrity is cool.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
But apparently there were cameras.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
You could buy infrared cameras on ceiling lamps and chandeliers.
There were contact lenses that could read through. I believe
the backs of the cards had barcodes or certain markings.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
And the special contact lenses could pick up on that.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
So other players or whoever was the quote unquote quarterback
at the table could know what's going on. There was
also from what we understand sensors that X ray underneath
the tables that could pick up cards or emit messages
(03:07):
to somebody and let's say mission control, who could then
cell phone text other players or the quarterback or whoever
to you know, manipulate their play depend on what somebody had.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Some of the.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Poker chip holders also were tainted and was able to
reveal have a a was able to see the cards.
You know, I've played poker before, and I'm going to
go into more details with this. This is this is
a really big story, and we're getting a lot of
information as we go. But you know, when I've played
(03:43):
poker at charity tournaments, you know, I've always wondered about
the privacy aspect of it. You know that say, look,
when you take your chips, you need to use the holder,
and I get that, and sometimes you have a holder
sitting there and I'm like, what if the holder has
a camera or a is bugged?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Now?
Speaker 3 (04:02):
And then when you're opening up your cards and you're
sitting tight next to other people, and I'm like, in
order to I don't want to bend the cards. And
you know, I never feel like you have all the
privacy you need not to mention when you got pit
bosses and people behind you, they could very easily see
your cards unless you really hold them up to your
chest and you're like, but I'm sure people can see. Well,
(04:26):
apparently this was a going to the poker part of it,
FBI director Cash Hotel Bettel revealed today. And it was
about a forty five minute news conference where mafia families
were involved in this illegal gambling scheme that also include
NBA players.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
So the mafia families.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Included the allegedly Bonano, Gambino, Gena, Viz Luceesi crime families.
And they claim that professional athletes and members of organized
crime work together. In both these illegal gambling indictments, Portland
Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Phillips.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Hall of Famer and Miami Heat guard Terry Rosier.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
We're among thirty one arrests that happened, I believe today,
and it might have been also over the last few days.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
In one case, Rosier and I hope.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
I'm pronouncing him right, is accused of participating in an
illegal sports betting scheme where he allegedly had a foot
injury only played nine minutes.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
This was a game back in I think it was
twenty twenty three. I have to double check.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
And then he bet on the under ended up making
about two hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
You'll mind, you this guy makes millions of dollars. Why
did they have to do that?
Speaker 4 (05:48):
You know?
Speaker 2 (05:49):
And I've wondered, you know, I.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Watch now a lot of football in college sports. I'm
starting to watch more basketball and baseball. You don't have
time to watch all these games. It's a lot. But
when I do have time, you know, I sit and wonder,
and I look at my sports betting app and I
just wonder, you.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Know, when you see these moves that some of these
coaches make.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
And I'm not accusing any coaches or insinuating that these
coaches are dirty, but sometimes they'll make a move and
you're like, wait a second, you just play the drive,
You're you'll you'll make the over?
Speaker 2 (06:22):
What's going on here? Well?
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Or or and and you you wonder if there's some
sort of secondary game when there's minutes left, not really
a high chance of injury, and they're like, you know what,
we're gonna just stop scoring this quarter. And I've noticed
things like that, and you just wonder, does somebody have
(06:45):
a bet.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Does somebody have a side bet does.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
And and you know we'll review the rules and things
like that, and and I know, I know this is
this is a story that's much more uh complex and involved.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
But the takeold point to this is one the mafia
has not gone away.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
We haven't heard much about the mafia recently. I mean,
we've heard about cartel now China, weather balloons, you know,
people being on college campuses and sending the lab information
back to China. We talk about Russia, and the mafia
is laid low relatively until something like this happened. Number
(07:29):
two is it doesn't matter how much money somebody makes,
they could still, despite making that money, be involved in
other things to make some side hustle money.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
And three, if you think you keep losing in a game, the.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Only way to win is not to play because there's
a chance it could be cheating or you stink at
poker one eight seven seven doct dollar.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
They don't go a way right back.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Hi, It's Mark Falter, hosts of the Financial Fitness Show.
I strongly believe that no one should ever pay one
penny more in taxes than they are legally obligated. Unfortunately,
for most hard working Americans. This just isn't the case.
Why because most people spend more time planning next weekends
getaway than trying to ensure they're going to pay less
(08:23):
than taxes. My financial fitness team has put together some
materials that I know are going to help you. It's
the Tax Savings Kit. Tax Savings Kit includes three things,
free tax analysis, top ten ways to pay less than taxes,

Click like and subscribe. So a question I have is
who were some of these people? That lost millions in
these poker games. So Portland Trailblazer's head coach Chauncey Phillips
is among those charged in this illegal polker operation tied
(10:53):
to the Mafia. Miami Heat guard Terry Rosier is amongst
several people charged in kind of a separate but related
did illegal gambling case, and the poker games included basketball
players celebrities to get high end, wealthy people to come
(11:13):
to the game. These games were allegedly ragged and rigged
in favor of those running the games, including the Mafia,
allegedly using X ray technology to read cards, possibly cameras
and the.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Chandeliers, poker chip holder.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Cameras, contact lenses to pick up barcodes and marked cards,
and a variety of things. And even if the players
themselves weren't actively using the technology, somebody outside remotely was
able to access to technology and then allegedly alert the
(11:54):
players or the ringleaders however, was running the game on
how to bet and so these games were being told
by ABC News were organized back in twenty nineteen. They
occurred in the Hamptons, Manhattan, Las Vegas, and Miami. The
profits from the quote alleged poker scheme ran up to
(12:19):
seven million dollars and counting. The investigation took place across
two years. According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish victims and
this even takes even more of a turn when victims
lost millions and they refused to pay were being told
(12:45):
that the mob would resort to violence extortion. I mean,
this is some frightening stuff. According to FBI Director Cash Bettel,
the fraud is mind boggling, said talking about tens of
millions of dollars in theft, in fraud and robbery.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
You know, I'm a sports fan.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
I haven't been able to get as deep into basketball
as I would like to now, but you'll seeing.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
These like Chauncey Billups, Portland trail.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Blazer's head coach. He's forty nine years old, has been
one of the ones arrested. He's played for Boston, Detroit, Toronto, Denver, Minnesota,
New York Knicks, LA Clippers. He won the Joe Dumars
Trophy the NBA Sportsmanship Award in two thousand and nine
while playing for the Denver Nuggets. And now he's in
(13:45):
his fifth season as Portland's coach, and he's got a
pretty good record.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
He's a five.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Time All Star with an NBA playing career, court to
Daily Mail, that has spanned seventeen seasons, included a championship
with Detroit in four. Is a Hall of Famer, inducted
into Nice Memorial Memorial Hall of Fame last year. Married,
has three daughters, well loved in the basketball community, and
(14:13):
he's one of the ones who was arrested. Roser Terry
Roseer's arrest comes after sports books of multiple states flags
suspicious betting activity on the player's stats ahead of the
Charlotte Hornets New New Orleans Pelicans game on March twenty third,
twenty twenty three. Accord to Daily Mail, the FBI a
(14:34):
lynches at, Roser told the defendants he was going to
leave the game early. Now whence you have the under
on somebody? Are they gonna score x amount of points?
Speaker 2 (14:45):
See? Now you have these prop bets.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
You know, before in the olden days, you would have
to bet, you know, is my horse gonna win? Is
the team gonna win? And if they are gonna win
by how many points? And it was simplified now with
electronics and over the last you know few, over the
last decade or so, you've been able to now bet
mid game, same day parlay. After every drive, throw a basket,
(15:15):
base run, you're a the odds change and so, you know,
depend on on on the sport and depending on the game.
And so if somebody's under for the game, you know,
let's say, you know, you think they're gonna be scoring
fifty points and they end up leaving after only scoring
(15:37):
twenty nine, you win. Now many sports books that say, okay,
players injured, Now we're gonna change the bet.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Although I think.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Most prop bets you have to I don't think a
lot of our sports apps handle the the uh mid
game prop bets. I think most of the prompt bets
you have to do UH before. But for those people
that said, look, you know, I'm gonna bet on the under,
he's going to be out.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
It's a slam duck. It's a sure thing.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
And so there were a flurry of wages on the under.
And when you have somebody like Terry Roser, who you
know is pretty pretty good, why would so many people
be expecting the under? Now, if somebody's injured, I think,
like Lamar Jackson has a hamstring injury. Let's say he says,
(16:26):
you know what, I think I'm good enough to play,
and you're like, you know, he's not gonna be.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
The Lamar Jackson like last year.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
He's still nursing an injury. I don't think he's going
to score as many you know, passing yards or that's
you know, that's understandable. But all of a sudden, you know,
people are just you know, waging on the under on
his points, rebounds and assists, so eligedly him over two
hundred thousand dollars of wages replaced. This ended up resulting
(16:55):
in tens of thousands of dollars in profits, and from
what we understand, the money was brought to his house.
They were counting the money, so there were witnesses and
the other defendants named as well.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Get bust it obviously for this.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
But look this happened back March twenty third, twenty twenty three.
So you look at these individuals who really have a
good life. They have a I mean there, they're famous,
they have a great job, multi million dollar contracts. Why
(17:35):
why be involved in crime? Is it that some individuals
don't think it's crime. They say, look, I play, there's
an opportunity. I don't feel like playing the rest of
the game. Why not make some money on it? Is
it that some people don't equate this type of stuff
like cheating to a crime like murder rape? It is different, obviously,
(17:59):
I mean murder rate, you know, drafficking. These are crimes
that that that there is a stratification of.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Crimes, but it's still a crime.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
I mean, I grew up going you just never do
anything illegal.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
You don't shoplift.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
If you're given the wrong amount of change, give that back,
just you know, you have.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
This moral compass.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
But I'm noticing now with something like sports betting, it's
really easy for people to do these kind.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Of shades of gray going.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
You know, I my cousin has money on the game,
They're gonna pay me back.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Do I really need to push my players more? Do
I really need to you know.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Make the over when the bets on the under, and
you really wonder what the the uh where the checks
and balances are, especially when you have you know, extended
family members and friends and you try to make it
non traceable.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
The rules on sports.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Betting, there's many, and I'm under the impression that you're
not supposed to.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yeah, you are completely prohibited.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Refs cannot sports bet, so if you're in the NBA,
you cannot bet on the.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
NBA w NBA G League, NBA two K League. You
you just can't. You are banned from placing wagers.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
It's not that well, you could do it on your
buddy's team, or you could do it on your day off.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
They make it very simple. It's a no this way.
It's simple.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
They don't have all these cases of well, it was
my day off and I have nothing to do with
any of these players, and I really like sports. No,
if you're going now, you can do fantasy football. You
can't do fantasy sports, but you cannot be winning prizes.
There cannot be any game if you want to have
(20:10):
a fantasy team.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
You can have a fantasy team if there's no money.
But I wouldn't. I just the look, I would just
stay out of all of that. You play the game.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
I understand betting is fun, but you listen, you're making millions.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Why risk it?
Speaker 3 (20:26):
And if you do have a gambling violation, you could
be up to a lifetime band in playing in that sport.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Thank you all for tuning in one eight seven seven
Doctor DOLLI one eight seven seven.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
D C D A l I.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
So in the olden days, you didn't have weight watchers,
you didn't have doctor Oz.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Where would you go to get instruction on how to
eat healthy?
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Well, you would go to the Bible, and the Bible
would give very strict rules on what to eat and
how to eat. In the Old Testament, we spoke, we've
speaken about this. You know, in terms of the laws
of kush root. No uncooked pork could kill you. Uncooked
(23:01):
shellfish and the toxins in shellfish could be deadly. You
have vibryosis, cigarette of poisoning with poor trickamaniasis parasite. So
you were told don't touch films unclean, they could hurt you.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Can't eat that.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Don't boil a kid in his mother's milk, originally thought
as a term of respect, not very cool to drink
the mom the cow's milk while she's watching you feed
on her son. So you're not supposed to mix milk
and meat. We also had found that from a digestive standpoint,
(23:46):
separating milk and meat from digestion actually improved your digestive health.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
And I believe they've even done studies on gut microbiome.
With that, so you go to the Bible. But do
people still go by the Bible?
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Do they still you know, or the laws of cush
root still in practice today?
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Well buy the Jewish populations they are.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
But interestingly, you have doctor Josh Ax and Jordan Ruben,
co authors of the book The Biblio Diet, that believe
that ancient foods of the Bible could be transformed into
a modern dietary plan to enhance her health and, according
to Fox News, help reverse life threatening conditions. As Is,
(24:33):
doctor of natural medicine in Tennessee, told Fox News that
if somebody's dealing with any health condition, whether it's depression, anxiety, cancer,
or heart is these diabetes, PCAs and fertility, hypothyroidism, or
low tystosterone, the Bible has a solution. If you'll follow
a diet based on the Bible, you could be made well. No,
(24:53):
I believe that, and again I forgive me. I'm I'm
trying to think of passages of the New Testament that
also to our Bible and health, which they do. And
so both Acts and Ruben have had serious health challenges themselves.
This has deepened their faith and have brought them to
the Bible not only for prayer, not only for guidance,
(25:16):
but also for diet recommendations. Ruben was diagnosed with Crohn's
colitis as a teenager and later with severe cancer.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Apparently he visited dozens of doctors with.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
No success, and then a man told him if he
followed a diet based on the Bible, proven by history
and confirmed by science, he said he could be well.
After another forty day period of an upgraded diet plus detoxification,
emotional spiritual therapy, he said he overcame cancer. He was
referred to as terminal, was not undergoing chemo radiation or
(25:54):
any additional surgeries, ends up recovery huge. Doctor Axe was
helping his mother overcome breast cancer. Put a program together
for his mom that includes certain foods in the Bible
like pomegranate, olive oil, also prayer, faith, praise, worship, and
(26:18):
he himself got afflicted.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
With a spinal infection.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
I'm not sure if if this was meningitis or arachnanitis.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
It doesn't go into Jovi's detail that he turned to the.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
Bible based diet of prayer and also combined them with
regendave treatments.
Speaker 9 (26:34):
To heal.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Now this is I love these stories, and he says
he's now one hundred percent healed.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
So what is the Bible based diet.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Well, in the Bible, you have lamb, you have vegetables,
olive oil, dairy figs, honey. These are things, obviously, and
during Biblical times you didn't have lucky charms. Okay, I
didn't have fruit loops, you didn't have diet coke. So
(27:05):
to me, the Bible diamines try to go more natural.
I love pomegranates. I think pomegranates are fantastic healthy. You
gotta be careful if you have diver tiiculosis where you
got pockets in your colon, because pomegranate seeds could get
stuck in there, as with any fruit seed and inflame.
But I gotta tell you I love pomegranates. I could
eat those all day long.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Whole grain, sour dough, bread, olive oil, dairy.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Figs, natural sweeteners from fruit, from honey, and red meat.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Red meat, the author say, is a superfood.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
It provides protein, creatine, glutamine, carnetine, zinc, iron B six.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
And so red meat, which.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Has been vilified for years and now RFK junior is saying, look,
you know, we might not need to condemn saturated fats
like we once used to.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Now I don't think a diet rich and red meat
is healthy.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
There's been numerous studies looking at red meat and how
that could affect your health, put you evers for diabetes
and a whole variety of things. But you know the
way Americans eat red meat. They might eat it three
or four times a day. But back in the Biblical times, no,
you would have it with some of your meals throughout
(28:32):
the week. Other meals would be your your grains or
rice or manna or mana from heaven, or your fruits
and your vegetables. And so why are we vilified red beat?
I think we could have some bread also was important.
(28:55):
They would prepare grains. They wouldn't, you know, bleach it
and make it like wonder white now uh or an
example figuratively. They you know, they wouldn't be you know,
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
I mean, but they would make grains. They would make bread.
I didn't like matsa. Give me a mazza diet where
the bread is on leavin that sucker that constipates you
but no, you could eat bread.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Olive oil. Oh my gosh, olive oil frequently referenced in
scripture helped your skin, metabolism, cardiovascular health. And then you know,
during the nineties and two thousands, everybody was anti dairy.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
I skipped dairy, I skip dairy.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Why got your calcium, you got proteins, you got healthy fats,
you know.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
So so we really need.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
To relook at what we've done because now we have
such a shift in people eating processed foods. Now, as
I said before, I think yesterday when we were talking
about RFK June, you're looking at saturated fats. People were
going so anti fat in the nineties and two thousands
that they went to carbs, or they went to processed foods,
(30:15):
or they went to these frozen foods, say low fat,
no fat. I've looked at milk that was non fat.
It's like water.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
I would rather you.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Drink a small cup of whole milk then having something
that had to be tinkered with. And when we do
tinker with our foods, what processes are they undergoing and
is that dangerous over long periods of time? What preservatives,
what things are they doing that might not be ideal
(30:49):
for your body. I really am not a big fan
of veggie burgers that are made to taste like ground beef.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
What the hell did you put in this thing? I'd
rather you just eat the ground beef, but you gotta
eat less of it.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
You can't be downing gallons of whole milk. You can't
be downing bottles of olive oil. In the Bible, they
didn't eat a lot because they didn't have a lot.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
They were smaller meals portioned.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
They ate when they were hungry, hunters and gatherers, and
you know, nibble here, nibble there, figs very good, very nutritious.
They had what they had, and and you know, it
involved a lot of things that we have now branded
as bad for you. But you know, maybe you know
(31:43):
these are things that really need to be re accepted.

All right, we are back. I'm not to Dollie shall.
Thank you all for checking in and tuning in. We
really appreciated one eight seven seven dot dollar one eight
seven seven D O C D A L. I so
seeing patients as a telemedicine physician, one of the big
issues we have we speak about every year is people
sadly misdiagnosing themselves and they'll call up saying I have
(34:57):
flu and I'm like, well, you tested they said no, no,
but I think I have the flu. So a telemedicine
physician may give him tamiflu or zofluza, medication for the flu.
And then they call back five six days later, going no, no, no,
I'm not better, I'm getting worse.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Well, it turns out they might.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Have had COVID or something else, and now they're out
of the window to be treated for COVID or vice versa.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
They call up think they have covid.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
They missed the window to be treated for flu, and
this could all be simplified if they could test themselves.
Plus the earlier we know you're ill or have an
issue the earlier week at institute treatment, new rapid tests
are available and a sick style quiz can help you
(35:41):
and find.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
The best way to feel better faster.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
I am very, very excited for our next guest, doctor
Mary Rogers, a leading researcher and known as the virus
Hunter with Abbot Pharmaceuticals, and Michelle Slafkowski, executive director of
Families Fighting Flu.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Welcome, Doctor Rogers and Michelle. So happy to have you guys,
happy to be here.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Thank you, wow.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Wow, so grateful.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
All right, So talk to us about some of the
tips for staying healthy during this respiratory season.
Speaker 13 (36:13):
Well, we definitely want to stay as healthy as possible,
and respiratory season is here. So some of the things
that we could all do are very common sense tips
that I tell my kids all the time, and I
feel like they apply to everybody, so it's good to
repeat them. These are things like washing your hands, trying
not to touch your face, stay hydrated. These are all
(36:35):
practical things that do work to keep you healthy. But
it's also important that if you do start to feel
some symptoms, don't wait to test. I think you made
some really good points earlier about how you really can't
tell what you have just based on how you are feeling,
and so tests are an important tool because they help
you know what virus you have so that you can
(36:57):
get the right treatment and get back to your normal.
Speaker 3 (36:59):
Lifeat exactly Gratefully, we have treatment for flu, we have
treatment for COVID, we have treatments for pneumonia, and so
obviously the sooner we could start those medicines the better. Nelton, Michelle,
can you explain more about the strategies that you recommend
families use to fight the flu and to stay healthy.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Doctor Delia. Families Fighting Flu represents many families who've been
severely impacted by the flu. We take an educational approach
around three pillars to emphasize prevention, which is vaccinate, test,
and treat. Our family members share their stories because they
(37:43):
want others to know how important it is to take
flu seriously. You mentioned people called you, they said they
had the flu, and it may not have been the flu.
That's why it's so important that we educate and bring
awareness to these respiratory illnesses that have overlapping simple and
encourage individuals not to just get tested, but also to
(38:04):
focus on appropriate treatments in a timely manner. Our mission
at Families Fighting Flu is to help reduce hospitalizations and
deaths primarily flu related, but it's all respiratory illnesses right
now that we need to take seriously so that we
can build a better community within ourselves and help protect
(38:27):
everybody around us.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
Absolutely, Doctor Rogers, I'm fascinated with the six Style quiz.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
Talk to us about what that is and how it
helps people.
Speaker 13 (38:37):
I'm glad you asked so the quick The six Style
Quiz is a really quick, easy and fun way to
learn more about your own personal approach to being sick.
I mentioned that it's a very personal thing and how
you choose to get better is personal as well. So
it just takes a minute, and I know when I
did it, I learned a lot about myself. And then
(38:57):
at the end there's some customized tips. So, for example,
I learned that I'm kind of a workaholic. I still
try and do things while I'm sick, and so some
of the tips I got were about how, yeah, I
should slope down, which is the point well taken, but
also that I would benefit from doing my testing at
home because that can help me get back to work faster.
(39:17):
And so I really like the convenience of something like
abbots by next now, COVID nineteen flu A and B
combo self test because I can get an answer about
any of those three viruses at once. But some people
are going to prefer the other route, which is to
just leave it to the professionals so that they can
do the testing for you. And so in that case,
(39:37):
there's another option. If you go to a pharmacy or
an urgent care center, they can use an abbot id
now molecular rapid test to get the same answers for
you about what's causing your sickness and what you should
do next to get better exactly.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
Also your family members too. You know, sometimes I'm like,
you know, You're like, well, you know, my throat's bothering me. This,
you know is an hour is an acid reflux. You've
got family members you are taken care of, and you
don't want to expose. The sooner, you know, the sooner
you can isolate. So it's it's definitely life saving, you know.
So when does it make sense?
Speaker 2 (40:15):
You know?
Speaker 3 (40:15):
I mean, you know, people always kind of go back
and forth, should I test now? Should I go to
the doctor? But then people procrastinate. What do you recommend?
Speaker 13 (40:23):
I recommend at least talking to your doctor as soon
as possible, because they're going to be able to help
you navigate your choices. But either way, they're going to
want to know what's causing your illness. So having a
test result can only help. And you can choose to
do that at your doctor's office with them, or if
you do a home test, you can share that result
with them. Either way, you're taking charge of your health
(40:44):
and trying to get better faster exactly.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
You know, And Michelle, you know, we have a rough
respiratory season ahead ahead of us. You know, So how
can families help support long term community health during the
respiratory season?
Speaker 4 (40:59):
Great question question. If families just take small steps and
listen to our vaccinate, test treat message and either get
vaccinated or when they're symptomatic, get tested, that's really critical
as we head into this season and get an appropriate
test in a timely manner. It will help reduce severe
(41:20):
illnesses in their communities, but it will also help families
make better health choices, so we all we all have
a safer and healthier season ahead of us.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Absolutely, I know we're coming up on the end.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Any other advice you'd like to share with us doctor
Rogers or Michelle to share.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
With my listeners.
Speaker 13 (41:39):
Of course, I really want people to remember to take
a proactive approach to this respiratory season. If you're starting
to feel sick, don't wait to test. Just find out
an answer as soon as possible so that you can
get better faster. And if you'd like to learn more
about the tests themselves and maybe about yourself by taking
the quiz, you can go to abbit dot com Flash
(42:00):
six styles to learn more.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
Absolutely, gosh, you know both of you have been such
a wealth of information.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
One more time, if you could share the website.
Speaker 13 (42:10):
Glad to it's abbot dot com, slash six.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
Styles fantastic doctor Mary Rogers, Michelle Slafkowski, thank you so
much for joining us.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
Can't wait to have you back.
Speaker 4 (42:23):
Thank you say well one eight.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
Seven seven doct doll a one eight seven seven d
O c d.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
A l I.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
I gotta tell you your patients who use that by next
now that have that combo flow of flu and COVID testing,
it has been a lifesaver because patients now, many of them,
their insurance companies are having them go through telemedicine first
before they.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
See their doctor or go to urgent care.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
And when you call up, you know, depending on the
doctor you get, some of them will say, I can't
tell you need to go in and get seen and
imagine being able to test at home. Now if the
test is negative, we still recommend you, you know, get seen,
get evaluated, because sometimes you know it could be too early,
you know for some of the results, or sometimes you
know it could be a the new strain of COVID
(43:10):
that might evade some of the testing. But to be
able to uh, you know, help us doctors who are
remote diagnose you when we would be able to you
know in a previous time test you is definitely life
saving one eight seven seven, doctor dolla.
Speaker 9 (43:27):
